Yeah, I know I said I'd keep quiet about it because I plan on ignoring the ending. I've done it plenty of times, even with books I consider my favorites. "Oh this book is so good, it's one of my faves... How does it end? I don't remember." I'm going to do that with jjk because I've done it more times. Anyways.
Seriously, where's the character development? Why dedicate an entire chapter to showing how much criticism affects you and making excuses for your narrative instead of fixing it? Gege could have written about the characters and their problems, their worries, their evolution even while talking about how the politics of jujutsu world are changing rn.
What are Nobara's thoughts right now? There could have been an entire chapter dedicated to her character to fill in the gaps and finish defining her, what about her mother? How does she feel about her childhood friends? What are her plans now?
What about Megumi? Yeah, seeing him laugh was therapeutic, but honestly his character hasn't had the development/ending I expected. The timeskip was weird, his acting is literally the same as the beginning of the manga. It feels like I'm reading the same person who appeared in chapter one and not a traumatized boy who is learning to live. Where is Itadori teaching him that it's actually worth moving on? Where's the whole PTSD thing I'm sure he has? (fuck megumi haters btw fuck them, and fuck the way they victim blamed a kid). What are his thoughts about Gojo? About Sukuna?
Yuuji... Our mc. I was expecting to see him mourning Choso, mourning Gojo. But no, apparently it's more important to explain that there was a secret society (lmao) than to have him show respect and tears for those people he loved. His family, who he never got to spend time with, and his sensei, who decided not to execute him and who taught him almost everything he knows. I wanted to see him taking his friends to the movies to see some B-movie horror instead of going through the horror of watching characters insult him and tell him that it's better if he were dead.
And yes, I know there are two chapters left and some of the things I mention here might appear, but we've already wasted our time with one chapter, that's many pages. There won't be time to fix whatever is this. I feel bad :/
Now, one of the things that bothers me the most is that there are characters that were implied to be dead and now suddenly appear alive. I thought this was about letting the new generations create a fair world, but no. Do you know which character bothers me the most? Mei Mei. No, I'm not against someone writing sa/csa in fiction as long as it's not romanticized (I accept the unreliable narrator because that happens a lot irl and it's sad). The thing is that Mei Mei literally embodies the values of the jujutsu world. In the jujutsu clans there was everything, sexism, abuse, neglect and most likely incest since (at least that's how I see it) they are like the monarchies of the Middle Ages. Mei Mei is the embodiment of all those rotten values that Gojo hated, that the new generations are destined to eradicate. Seriously. What is she doing alive? Take her out rn. Gojo didn't die for this.
I read someone saying that maybe the point of this chapter isn't to break the cycle, but to repeat it. I have to say that I'm a big fan of that trope! It reminds me that humans repeat the same mistakes, but even if that were the point I think it wouldn't be well written.
There came a point in the story where both options: love is worthless and love is worth it were acceptable by the end of the manga. This is the ending where love is worth it, but why hasn't anything changed? The characters we saw in 269 are almost exactly the same we saw in chapter number one.
If this is a story about how love is worth it, accept the consequences and write characters who, thanks to love, move forward and build a new world instead of neutralizing any kind of development

maki is an interesting character, bc she is generally acknowledged to be one of gege's best written characters in jjk, period. regardless of gender.
but the reason she is so great, is because her arc is centered around her experiences as a girl in a patriarchal society. not one that fits into the standard either.
she's born into a family that is considered misogynistic by other clans' standards. as a twin, no less, which is considered a bad omen. with little to no curse energy to boot.
still, for a large portion of her life, she desired to prove herself to them. in a way that reminds me of the myth of meritocracy? that idea of "if you work hard enough, you can do anything you want and you can prove yourself to the naysayers."
but in her journey she learns it's impossible for her to rise in an institution that actively works against her.
this happens, specifically, when she goes to the zenin clan during the culling games (to simply collect tools). she's confronted by reality in ways that echo momo and nobara's conversation (about the weight of misogyny in their lives).
"A scar on the face can be a good thing for guys. But not for girls. You think the world of Jujutsu Sorcerers is based on skills? [It is] Sure. But only for guys. Even if a girl is skilled, if she's not cute, she is looked down upon. Of course, if she's only cute without any skill, it's the same. Women Jujutsu Sorcerers aren't expected to be skilled. They're expected to be perfect." (Momo, Chapter 40)
the first thing she is told when she visits the compound is "yikes, what a face. that ain't gonna heal. what are you gonna do Maki? [...] all you had going was your face and now it's wrecked. no one will even look in your direction anymore." (Chapter 148, p.2-3)
after that, she crosses paths with her mother, who, at face value, echoes the horror tropes of mothers that "fanatically conform to the institution" (i think her actions later make her more complex).
then, finally, maki comes across her father, who remarks on maki and mai's "worthlessness" to him. he's convinced himself he would be better off in life if they were dead.
maki's continuously told she has no value in this world. for things that are out of her control.
of course, this all leads to the loss of mai, who sacrifices herself in order to essentially push maki forward as a character bc "to gain something, you must offer something," in the world of jujutsu kaisen. this is not exclusive to them. it also leads to mai telling maki something that aligns really well with what "female rage" means to me:
"Destroy… Everything" (Chapter 149, p.12)
why?
i think there is no amount of climbing you can do in a society that is actively pulling you down. no way to become clan head in an institution that wants you dead.
i believe it's this realization that causes maki to embrace her "monstruous femininity" that ultimately results in her ascension (as a person, as a sorcerer).
i know some people criticize her decision to kill the zenin in honor of her sister's memory. but, i think the message here is that some institutions simply cannot be reformed.
also, note that with their destruction, maki's narratively released from their expectations.
anyways, what comes after is honestly hilarious. i think it's a mockery of what gege expected misogynistic readers to say. "you're not toji!" (Chapter 151, 6-19) as if drawing a parallel implies that she's his copy.
another charming detail to maki's character is how sumo helps her find freedom/her groove. considering how, in traditional sumo, "women are considered impure and cannot step into the ring". it's just something so fitting for maki who continually defies gender expectations.
long post to say: i honestly love her and i think ppl often ignore how entrenched her story is in the female experience bc they just see how buff she is.

🌹You, me, prom? JJK x Reader🌹
All I ever wanted was to go to prom!
Jjk characters asking you to be their prom date in case you've never been to one:
°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。
₊˚ ♡
Gojo - dramatic
would bother everyone in his friend group for ideas or for their help orstracizing this event
💙 he'd probs gather a band and do something as cliche as a sing and dance in your school hallway
💙 he'd stayed up all night making the banner of 'will you marry me' full of rose petals stuck at the edge of the paper
💙 marriage? Like I said, dramatic.
💙 or would probably prank you, sending one of your close friends to tell you that he was badly injured cus he got jumped, only for him to pull out a single rose from his back pocket in the middle of your sobbing session when you were yelling for someone to call 911
💙 you almost said no cus of that prank
₊˚ ♡
Geto - in private, more intimate
🖤 he'd ask you at some type of usual hangout, he'd want you to be comfortable
🖤 like in the library, sliding a sticky paper to you with his elegant writing. It'd be in the middle of your quiet study session. You read: 'pretty girl, be my prom date?'
🖤 or maybe at the cafe you two would frequent, the question scribbled in the barista's scrawny penmanship all the while misspelling your name 💀
🖤 easy yes for you, the two of you would continue whatever you're doing after that, settling in a comfortable silence while holding hands
₊˚ ♡
Sukuna - blunt, casual
❤️ 'so, we on together for prom, right'? 💀
❤️ 'I'll pick you up by 6pm.'
❤️ honestly, you weren't sure if he was going to ask you at all so you were already thinking of a way to ask him first
❤️ 'are you asking me to prom? You know what? Fuck it, yeah.'
❤️ he'd probably drag you away from the venue to leave prom early and do something more to his liking, 'This shit's too cheesy.'
₊˚ ♡
Shoko - low key sweet, comedic
🤎 will probably give some type of pastries or chocolate with a short handwritten letter about all of her admiration for you and asking you to be her prom date. She'd read this letter out loud for you and kiss your cheek if you say yes.
🤎 if she was feelin' a little goofy, she'd probs ask you the question and have the words 'yes' and 'no' written in two separate cigarette sticks. She'd tell you to light the one that says your answer 💀
🤎 'Since you lit this one, you owe me a cigarette :))'
₊˚ ♡
Naoya - almost formal, a bit of an ass
🧡 prolly ask while eating dinner at his family home, just the two of you, your hand in his. "I'd like to be your date for prom."
🧡 Will immediately sigh in relief and let go of your hand as soon as you said yes. "Good. As you should. You're going to have to dress well if you're going to be seen out with me. You have the budget for a dress or…?"
🧡 he's spewing all this while you can see his hands trembling, trying to cover this nervous tick as he moves his utensils. He ain't slick. He's secretly as excited as you are.
🧡'we're going to match our outfits, of course.'
₊˚ ♡ - - - -
Bonus:
Mei Mei:
💜 I'll be your prom date - name your price.

Long post so sorry but re: jjk characterizations.
I highly disagree about Geto not being well written, because if you think that then by default that means Gojo isn’t well written either. They are both two sides of the same coin or two halves of one whole. The ying and yang correlation between them runs deep and is seen in tons of imagery in the show as well as the openings and Gege’s art up and down the series.
Nothing about Gojo’s character of who he is in Jujutsu society makes sense without Geto and vice-versa. So I understand you may not like Geto’s character/decisions but short changing him as “simply apart of Gojo’s life” is incorrect unless you feel the exact same way about Gojo. I’d argue any development Gojo has post Geto is more a reflection on how others in the series view him and not any real growth of his own, the undertones of the entire series, and the only reason why Kenjaku could trap him, is that he was still hung up on Geto—Gojo spends the entire series low key mourning him. (Something important to consider here, which is a whole dissertation on its own, is the isolation that comes with being the strongest. Other than Geto, Gojo does not have deep relationships in the series. Unlike Sukuna, he doesn’t reject the need for others though, he accepts the isolation but also humbles himself to accept he is just a cog in the wheel. Which is why he tells Yuji its okay if he is forgotten).
The foundation of both Geto and Gojo’s characterizations and diverging of their paths is the star vessel/Riko incident.
In fact, it’s that incident causes them to swap their budding ideologies. Gojo right after Riko died wanted to kill them all, it’s Geto who stopped him. Had Geto not then him and Gojo would have been ejected from jujutsu society just as Geto was after he lit up that entire village.
More importantly though, that incident also separated their power levels. Before they were considered relatively equals even if Gojo had the edge of having the legendary inherited ability.
You said re: Geto: “Him being a victim in an unjust system is not portrayed well enough”
Honestly, it's not portrayed at all cause that is not what is defection is about. Ultimately, Geto doesn’t care about the system, he finds fault in all non-sorcerers/cursed users as they cannot control their cursed energy and that is how curses are born. His friends died from protecting civilians from curses, not from the “unjust system”. He is only seen as being against the current system as the current system isn’t in line with his ideologies. Truthfully, Geto could have killed the higher ups by himself, at anytime, but he wants to save all sorcerers/cursed users. He wants to prove to him his ideology is the right way. If Jujutsu society went along with his plan he would find no reason to fight them.
It’s Gojo alone that blame’s the system for Geto’s defection. From Geto's defection Gojo becomes a teacher (which is what Geto would have been) as he feels he can change society by being a direct influence on the next generation to show Geto that he is wrong, but Geto doesn't even care about that (this also underlines the fact that Gojo struggled with connections/relationships as he couldn't identify Geto struggling and he also could not even fully understand his reasons for leaving). As you could argue perfect system or not ultimately curses would be killing Geto’s friends and he still would have came to the same conclusion. The cruelty of the jujutsu world had nothing to do with his defection. Additionally, I have to stop and make clear here that Gojo does NOT have selfless motivations. A good example is Megumi, Megumi being his ward was self-serving so the Zenin's didn’t raise Megumi to try to destroy him like what had happened in the past. Gege even said other than money Gojo was not there for Megumi. Plus the huge fact he didn’t even consider adopting Megumi at all until after Geto left and Gojo decided to try to prove him wrong. But that 3 YEARS LATER after Toji died, but I digress.
Due to Gojo’s “level-up” so to speak in unlocking RCT/purple that completely rips apart the yin-yang that balanced them. Geto isn’t content like Nanami to “just let Gojo handle things” as he knows not even Gojo handling all the missions is the solution to curses being born at all. Geto is perfectly content to be wrong he just wants to live his life in the pursuits of what he thinks are the right choices. That’s why he asks Gojo, are you Gojo Satoru because you are the strongest or are you the strongest because you are Gojo Satoru. It’s Geto in that moment who challenges Gojo not to go along with the get along, he only did that because HE had decided to live his own life the way he thought was best.
Geto’s principles do seem a bit dry but that’s because they are based on utilitarianism (which is pretty cut and dry and not that sexy lol) and he is only driven to be or seen to be a villain because of those principles.
Ultimately you may still not like Geto, and like I said that’s fine, but he and Gojo are cut from the same cloth and Gojo never progresses past Geto and lives his life on that regret. That said, I do feel like fans and fanfiction do Gege's characters better justice than he ever did. The pacing of JJK is too quick and Gege does not do a good job with connecting themes, you really gotta puzzle piece them together.
Also quickly re: Naoya, isn’t liberal, he’s rebellious. There’s a difference in terms of Japanese culture. The culture as a whole doesn’t foster liberal thinking or questioning of ideals (which is literally why Gojo heard from somewhere “black ppl have stronger bodies” and didn’t think to question it because you are literally raised not to question authority to the point they wouldn't even stop to be like "hey this doesn't sound right", its pretty bad and its why Japan as a whole has been terribly slow to progress past archaic laws or thinking.) So while Naoya doesn’t want to be controlled by his family and idolizes Toji—it’s only because of his strength, not his liberal ideals of leaving the family and jujutsu society. Naoya very much wants to be the strongest IN jujutsu society and leader of his clan and by any means necessary. That’s why he becomes a vengeful cursed spirit. However I do not see him as a complex character, only as a allegory in relation to the theme of"those who are the strongest in jujutsu society" vs "those who want to be the strongest in jujutsu society".
You lost me at the comparison of geto and gojo having the same depth and importance

Self-Made Soulmates
(based on / inspired by Achilles Come Down by @biscaanii! i am. very normal about this fic and The Odyssey in general. so, so normal i promise.)
(rambles under cut!! also cw gore / tw gore (i drew a thing based on a certain chapter in acd) and warning for spoilers on all of the current fics in the odyssey (except for the fic with the scrapped ideas))
. . . . .
so i lied i'm actually incredibly Not Normal about this fic series. it has made its home in my brain and will now never leave.
i originally decided to read it cuz i had just finished the anime and wanted some fanfics to sink my teeth into, and the moment i saw this fic and the Time Travel tag, my fate was sealed.
i instantly fell in love with the story it was creating and may have gotten a little too attached to the story's interpretation of the characters. my favorite jjk character before reading this fic series was yuuji, but the moment i read the first fic gojo immediately skyrocketed to the top of my list, along with the other two members of the trio.
and speaking of gojo...
i thought of this meme when i read the chapters where the brain bashing incident happens and immediately had to draw it lmao. please disregard the horribleness and inconsistencies of it i can't animate or do anatomy stuff for shit lol. this is also my first time drawing anything remotely bloody. i just wanted to have fun with it so here we are 🎉
here's the image of gojo with the ibuprofen text lol
anyway back to rambling-
i think the series did a really good job with tackling satoru's mental health issues throughout the story. he felt alive, as did all of the other characters with their own issues and emotions and love. this fic also made me really like suguru as a character a ton more since i was more so indifferent about him before reading this fic; same with shoko. i also like yaga a lot more now which i wasn't expecting honestly cuz he's probably one of the characters i cared for the least at first lol. and i wanna give haibara and nanami a hug. and ohhh my god the children were perfect i love them so much i want to squish them. and kenjaku was also really well written! i liked the lore thrown in about their constant search for knowledge in the most extremely non-ethical ways.
i found it funny that bits of canon, the lore, and the timeline were all essentially thrown out the window at times lol. not in a bad way!!! especially cuz it made the story flow a lot better and i'm also a big fan of rewriting canon to suit your whims if it makes for a good or better story.
the first fic in the series is probably my favorite? cuz i feel like the big story plot points are the heaviest in it and it got me hooked the fastest, but the kids in the other two make it a hard contest cuz i really like the familial fluff and these fics are actually the first time i've ever willingly read something like it. and i thought the plot stuff in between was really well organized and i was living for the murders that happened it was great lmao.
and also the 2nd and 3rd fics actually made me tolerate children more lol. i know they're not always sunshine and rainbows when it comes to behavior and taking care of them, but the fics made me remember the nice parts about them so that was really appreciative. i wanna give the fushiguro siblings and the twins a hug so baddd. and i remember screaming when they got their last names changed in the 3rd fic it was so fucking cute!!!! stsg family my beloved.
it took me... *checks calendar* 11 days? to read the entirety of the current fics in the series. i started reading it around dec 11th, finished it on dec 22nd, and it has not left my brain since. i'm probably gonna reread it at some point also when i'm able to reclaim some free time because i'm a little bit extremely obsessed with it.
i think the last fic to have impacted me this badly was like. over year ago i think. i go about my day and then randomly think to myself "i miss acd stsg family :(" completely unprompted. they just. pop into my head. i need more content or i will explode. but i do understand that it's on a bit of a hiatus so i'm just gonna reread what there is lol. and also maybe draw more if i get the motivation or remember to do so cuz i usually forget.
i will now throw in some of the screenshots i took while reading the series cuz i wanna show some of the bits that made me laugh lol
to those that read all the way up to this point- thank you for sitting through all of this lmao. i will now go back into my hermit cave -w-

Jujutsu Kaisen And It's Popularity Giving The Fanbase a Bad Reputation (JJK Spoilers)
Jujutsu Kaisen has currently become extremely popular not just in Japan, but also in Western Countries. At first, I wasn’t too concerned about it gaining popularity, I’ve been a fan since the first season was animated so I was quite glad it was gaining a fanbase. I really didn’t care if Gojo was getting popular, that’s fine, but it started to concern me when I realized people are debating over what ships are and aren’t canon.
First off, let’s go over the definition of shipping. Shipping is when people in a fandom or fanbase of fictional media start shipping fictional characters within that fictional media. But within shipping, it is EXTREMELY important to note that shipping characters are only valid when it is fictional characters, legal, and nontoxic. This means pedophilia, incest, abusive, etc. relationships are invalid within shipping.
In Japan, the top ships are mostly illegal. Shipping minors with adults, eg; Gojo x Yuji, Gojo x Megumi, Sukuna x Megumi, Choso x Yuji (also incestual), etc. But in my opinion, specifically within the US, the top ships are probably SatoSugu (Gojo x Geto), NobaMaki (Nobara x Maki), ItaFushi (Megumi x Yuji), along with less popular ships that are more likely to be canon such as HaKira (Hakari X Kirara), and a very wholesome and canon one, ToMema (Toji x his wife)
Honestly like I said I don’t care if Gojo is popular or not, I think the only problem is that almost if not all of everyone likes him because he’s strong, which is also literally the reason people like him in JJK. I don’t really care if people sexualize him or say SOMEWHAT sexual things, I do think people take it too far within comments, but if it’s only somewhat sexual there’s really nothing you can do about it because he is 28 years old.
Gojo and Geto are very well-written characters, lore-wise. Technically they are platonic soulmates. I think the only excuse I’ve seen for people not liking SatoSugu is that Gojo is confirmed to show attraction to women, which isn’t a lie. He is attracted to an actual celebrity, Waka Inoue, or I guess, was, because he was 16-17 during his past arc. But following up that “theory” of him showing attraction to women, is that people can be attracted to both men and women, hence bisexuals, pansexuals, etc. Gojo is ALSO confirmed to be a womanizer because he is NOT loyal.
Another thing anti-SatoSugu shippers say to claim Gojo isn’t lgbtq+ or whatever, is that best friends exist.
…Because we didn’t already know that. Honestly, I think people forget headcanons exist. Headcanons are when someone believes or interprets something about a character, for example: thinking they are trans, gay, lgbtq+, neurodivergent, etc. It doesn’t mean that it is genuinely true and/or confirmed by the creator.
And to follow up with people hating on SatoSugu, that the season 2 Gojo Past Arc argument scene, aka Geto’s last goodbye to Gojo, aka KFC break up/dumping scene. it is a real location in Shinjuku, Japan:
Not to mention that the day that they both died, December 24th, is Japan’s Valentines' Day and KFC is a meal that couples get on that day. During the afterlife scene in the Manga, chapter 236, Gojo says to Geto, “Satisfied? If you were among those patting my back... then I might've been satisfied,”. Some songs that are played and directed at Gojo and/or Geto, have very meaningful lyrics:
“Shame On Me” by Avicii (One of the two Gojo’s theme songs named by Gege)
Shame on me for lovin’ you
That’s what I get for lovin’ you;
You know I can’t live without you;
And all the things you put me through
are you baptized and born again?
I’ma raise hell for the bitter end;
I’m a crazy little bitch in the first degree,
shame on you for loving me.
Come Back Home by Two Door Cinema Club (One of Geto’s themes that Gege said was)
I know this isn't it
You'll hit your target someday
So now you're on your own
Won't you come back home
To see you're not that kind
And find the strength, to find the strength
To find another way
Alone Tonight by Munrai (a song specifically written for an official Geto + Gojo promotional video)
If I came to your place tonight, would you let me in?
Sakayume by King Gnu (A song played in Jujutsu Kaisen 0 portrayed towards Rika and Yuta’s relationship but also how Geto feels toward Gojo)
I'll dive into the sea of memories
And pick up the pieces of my love
And keep them in you forever.
Where Our Blue Is by Tatsuya Kitani (The first opening of Season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen, is written from Gojo’s perspective, confirmed here: https://x.com/skanaaa_/status/1690104150045184000?s=20)
Even now, blue resides
Even now, blue remains clear
No matter the prayers or words
Though they draw near, they never reach
It's like a quiet love
In the summer-like colors running down my cheeks
The words that curse you are stuck in the back of my throat
Akari by Soushi Sakiyama (first ending for Season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen, the lyrics “Show me your blushing face once more” is confirmed to be Gojo speaking to Geto from an interview, the interview is here
Realizing that something seemingly everywhere
Exists only here
Even trivial conversations are fine
Show me your blushing face once more
SPECIALZ by King Gnu, The letters used in the lyrics “I love you 6a6y” are speculated to likely represent Gojo and Geto, hinting at Gojo’s six eyes. the lyrics "get 1○st iπ 31" can be related to Geto and 31st October when the Shibuya Incident took place. Daiki Tsuneta later confirmed in a TV show called 日曜日の初耳学 that the lyrics were indeed intentional; in this specific manner: "get 1○=夏油/Geto, st=悟/Satoru, 1○ 31=10月31日/October 31st, get 1○st iπ 31=get lost in me(我に返る)"
n short, people think that because the fandom and/or fanbase of Jujutsu Kaisen are shipping illegal ships, over-sexualizing characters, arguing over legal/non-problematic ships, arguing what is and isn't canon, or arguing about who is and isn't gay, the Jujutsu Kaisen fandom/fanbase is slowly turning into the My Hero Academia Fandom. Honestly, it isn’t too far off, and it’s unfortunate that Jujutsu Kaisen is getting a bad reputation. Unfortunately, anything that gets popular on social media, especially TikTok, will have bad sides of the fanbase/fandom.
All things aside the over-sexualization of adult characters, shipping illegal ships, people arguing over simple legal ships, and arguing what is and isn't canon or who is and isn't gay. Shipping legal ships and having non-offensive headcanons, isn’t wrong, and it shouldn’t always be looked down upon. If someone is shipping characters way too far and telling someone to harm themselves because they don’t agree with a ship, then yes, that is something we should look down upon. Shipping can also be platonic, hence why people call Geto and Gojo both soulmates AND platonic soulmates.
To be honest, I think the only people I’ve seen hate on SatoSugu are straight cismen or straight people in general, people who can't handle that gay ships will exist at times, and/or SuguShoko (Geto x Shoko) Shippers and GojoHime (Gojo x Utahime) Shippers. It’s fine if you disagree with it and still continue to respect other people for their opinion on the ship, but if you are just gonna talk about what is and isn’t canon I will believe you live in a world of delusion. If you wanna talk about what is and isn't canon Utahime despises Gojo, she would never get with him and Gege said Shoko would rather die than get with Geto and/or Gojo.
Thanks for listening to my yapping. Please respect others’ ships as long as it isn't a pro/comship, and just respect people in general, unfortunately, the world doesn’t do that enough, especially on social media.

about me .゜ call me res! I go by he/him and I'm 18. I typically write longer fics but could probably drop some headcanons and drabbles later down the line! usually my fics are more plot and world-building based but I do write nsfw occasionally (sometimes I write plot solely so I can get to that lmao). I generally stick to writing for male/neutral readers but might eventually write for female readers too (genderfluid legend) - but male readers are more of a priority due to the content drought for them. honestly went awol on here for a while because I post more on ao3 but I decided to bring my newer works here too <3 so enjoy the blog
fandoms I've written for .・ in the past I've written for bleach, genshin, and jjba. some of my newer stuff includes that's not my neighbor, twisted wonderland, more jjba, and some itsv i wrote when it first came out. however, check out the current interests section to find out different fandoms I might write for in the future, as well as the requests + asks section :)
current interests ゜・ started playing honkai star rail recently, honestly really enjoying how interesting the character stories are. some manga I'm currently reading include blue lock, jjk, sakamoto days and jjba. I read a wider variety of manhwa and novels though, including orv, lookism, how to fight, return of the mad demon, solo levelling, concubine walkthrough (really recommend this one), legend of a northern blade... I can't list them all since I've read over two hundred lmao (please ask me for fic recommendations I've got so many) in terms of my other hobbies since I do have a life (I hope this is obvious) I like art, history, and the sciences (fuck I use so many science metaphors in my work...), so if you ask for scientist!reader... yeah you know what's up
things of note •. yeah don't follow me or interact with my work if you're racist, homophobic, ableist, or if you don't believe in a free palestine. idc who you are that's an immediate block.
requests + asks ・゜ I write as a hobby and honestly just to blow off stress! currently am doing my studies in a myriad of subjects and have lots to do, but my ask box will be open; just keep in mind I may not reply immediately (sorry about that). I probably won't be able to write longer fics but less than 2k is light work fr, especially if it's something like headcanons or drabbles or things of that nature. again, will write for neutral/male readers so please keep that in mind when requesting. my ask box will be open for just discussions or other things :) as mentioned previously, I write for male/neutral readers, but I might extend it to female reader eventually (or depending on the fic idea?? really does depend). while the majority (all...) of my work is x reader, I don't mind doing character x character I won't write any weird ships (no incest, big age gaps, just weird ships in general), and I won't write nsfw of aged-up characters that are minors in the original work!! in terms of fandoms you can request for, any of the aforementioned should be good, I just may not be very familiar with the character so it might take a while to find their 'voice' to write for. however!! if the fandom in question has not been mentioned above you can send a request anyway because I've extensively consumed media so I'll have at least heard of it (probably/hopefully)
what I'm currently up to <3 as of june, I'm continuing my jjba long fic and currently redoing my entire blog (my older posts look so UGLY omfd). debating whether to make a side blog for just discussions and stuff?? I'm also thinking of medium/plot-based fics for other fandoms to give myself somewhat of a refresh I'm fresh out of end of year exams but still have a lot to do elsewhere so this blog is going to be my proverbial terrarium to nourish and take care of so I don't lost my sanity

2024 Retrospective
Part 6: Anime and manga that may or may not be 30 years old
“Jujutsu Kaisen” concluded this year, and my feelings are mixed to say the least. There is a lot of good in this manga, but from the very beginning reading it wasn’t anywhere near as rewarding as watching the anime adaptation. Jujutsu Kaisen has always been terrible at explaining itself. A friend of mine had no idea how Gojo’s abilities work until I showed him the scene in the anime where they’re explained, and that’s honestly just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to badly explained lore that make JJK a much more exhausting read than it should be. To some degree, I feel like that is part of what happened in the final arc. Right till the end I wasn’t sure what the stakes were exactly, how or why certain things could or did happen, or in some chapters even what I was looking at in the first place. And I feel like MAPPA will take this messy manga and actually get a pretty decent final season out of it. As it stands though, the last third of this manga is hard to follow, which often leads to scenes and twists that made me feel like I missed a chapter. Add to that the inexplicable decision to kill pivotal characters off-screen, multiple times, and this manga ended up leaving a rather sour taste in my mouth. It’s not just that the writing and artwork become worse as the last arc proceeds, it’s hard to shake the impression that Akutami Gege did not enjoy writing this story anymore and hated his own characters because of that. And I’m not sure how much of that self-defeating spite an adaptation can fix. Since I finally started to kick my depression’s ass back, I was actually able to watch quite a few anime this year, so this won’t just be a Jujutsu Kaisen segment this time.
My favorite of which has got to be Oshi No Ko. With the way the first episode was hyped up I expected not to enjoy this show much, because I don’t think it is that good of a first episode right up until the last few minutes where the show finally reveals its true nature. After that, what got me on board is the brilliant character writing and Doga Kobu’s stellar adaptation work. This show is a feast for film nerds.
Dandadan is the other big release I want to mention. It came out just when Jujutsu Kaisen ended, and if Jujutsu Kaisen felt like a story the author just wanted to be done with, Dandadan’s first season felt like a show the studio would never stop wanting to make. The mere premise of this manga is already insane in the best ways, but it’s also very well written so far, and I’ve had enough of shounen falling short of their early promise because the writing isn’t up to par in the long run for a while. But I don’t want it to seem like I enjoyed Dandadan solely because it felt like such a perfect antithesis to the Jujutsu Kaisen ending and came out around the same time. Because Dandadan is truly something special. I’ve heard a story about the editor telling Dandadan’s author to read shojo manga because he needed to learn how to write emotions. And the thing is: it worked. Dandadan is emotionally intelligent in a way Shounen Jump manga usually aren’t. For how loud and ridiculous of a show this can be, its character writing is surprisingly grounded and subtle when it needs to be, and it’s incredibly satisfying for it. Now, throw subtlety out the window, who needs complex character writing when you can just be ridiculously over the top instead? Yeah, I read Blue Lock. It is A LOT. This manga, on so many levels, should be bad. It’s utterly ridiculous, the dialogue is straight out of a fanfic sometimes, they don’t have the rights to use the names of real clubs so the German one is called “Bastard München” because of course you’d just give it derogatory name, and two of the characters have what I can only describe as an actual romance spin off. This manga wants the shipping audience, and it wants it badly. So, is it good? I want to say no so badly. But the thing is, it manages to stay enjoyable long after the novelty wears off. Maybe the German team has a hilarious name, but the German characters throw in some choice German insults that couldn’t have gotten in there without consulting a native speaker. It misses a week of publication sometimes because the author is doing research. The stupid insanity of this manga isn’t because it is a lazy work, it’s purposely crafted to be so based on a solid foundation. The characters say insane shit all the time, are often a heightening of an archetype more so than a subversion of one, but when it needs to deliver a character moment, they land. Maybe it is hilarious that a Shounen ship gets a spin off manga, but it got there because these two side characters were so compelling in just a few appearances that it made sense to tell the story again from their perspective. For all of Blue Lock’s objective flaws (never mind its godawful adaptation moving at two frames per minute), this is the most fun I had reading manga this year.
And that is saying something because the other three I worked through are actually great.
Tower Of God is a manhwa I tried to get into almost a decade ago, but I didn’t like the Webtoon format and never got far. I eventually binged it after watching the first couple of episodes of its second season that ran this summer, and now I get why everyone hates this adaptation so much. The artwork in this manhwa is absolutely stunning in later chapters, and the anime just doesn’t do it justice in the slightest. And I wished it got a better adaptation, because I genuinely loved reading it. It’s a well written story with a compelling central mystery and a strong emotional core, and it’s that emotional core I found myself appreciating the most about it. The characters are holding this story together in the rare sections when the plot isn’t. Khun especially has wormed his way up my list of favorite characters in anime, to no one’s surprise, but the entire cast is strong here.
My only regret is that I didn’t read it earlier, and the same can be said for the two finished manga I read this year.
I feel like I need to preface the next paragraph with a note on the author, who’s by all accounts a shitty person I want nothing to do with. Consider this the strongest possible condemnation. This is a case where I can separate the art from its artist, and not a case where giving the work a platform empowers the author to do more harm (Harry Potter fans, this is about you), but if you can’t, that is perfectly valid. If you do end up interested in this story though, pirate it.
Now, with that out of the way.
I would like to blame Tatsuya Kitani for the rabbit hole I fell down in November, but as good as “Chained” is, that was really just a reminder to finally sit down and read Rurouni Kenshin, as has been on my to-do list for over a decade. At this point I caught up with the new anime adaptation, watched the live action movies, and read the manga. And my takeaway is: Shounen does not get much better than this. I don’t even know where to begin, it’s just such a tightly written story. Every single character is at least likeable or compelling, and in most cases both. Every antagonist shows up at the perfect moment to pose the perfect narrative challenge befitting the current state of the characters. The character writing is extremely effective; by the time most Shounen would still be establishing basic character traits Rurouni Kenshin had me fully convinced that I know and like these people, and that these characters who met just a few chapters ago have grown to care for each other. The fight scenes are also great, every move is deliberate, and the fights give insight into the characters’ mental state, which often becomes a deciding factor. A character who doesn’t value their own life might make reckless moves that can then be punished, or a character might hesitate and lose the upper hand because they are bogged down by guilt. It made me think about that infamous shounen trope that is “the power of friendship” in a new light, because this is what the trope was like before it became a trope. Friendship has power in Rurouni Kenshin because Kenshin needs a reason to value his own life, and his friends provide him with one: they would suffer if he died. That’s something that makes Rurouni Kenshin extremely interesting to watch (or read) in general, just how much of its influence is recognizable in later shounen. Of which Gintama really takes the cake. From the way Gintoki’s and Kenshin’s backstories are set up and slowly revealed, to the specter of past atrocities haunting them in the present, and the theme of moving on from war. Even Gintama’s post-alien-invasion-Edo is a mirror to Ruouni Kenshin’s historical Meiji setting. (Don’t take this as an excuse to call Gintama derivative though, it really isn’t.) And yet, no matter how influential Ruouni Kenshin was, it still feels unique in the Shounen landscape. I thought I read too many Shounen to get surprised at how dark and morally complex they are allowed to be, I thought the boundaries had been well and truly pushed by second and third generation titles, and yet here I was, in 2024, stunned at the dark twists and moral complexity of a 30-year-old Shounen Jump Manga. So yeah, it’s great. It was also lucky with its (recent) adaptations. The live action movies are easily the best of any shounen I’ve ever seen, it’s not even close. The soundtrack did not need to slap that hard, and the sword fights are awesome. They essentially made five historical martial arts films with just enough shounen nonsense not to distract from how dark of a story it is they’re telling. And the new anime aired a season this year, so there you go, this 30-year-old manga is actually relevant in 2024. I think this adaptation is a bit too clean to sell the darker aspects of the story, and it’s loyal to a fault. Some scenes have odd pacing because they didn’t understand that manga panels don’t make for good storyboards. Some jokes don’t land well for that reason either and some of the humor in the manga hasn’t aged well to begin with. I don’t think it’s a bad adaptation, but it could be better. On the plus side, Saito Soma is my favorite voice actor, and he was inspired casting for Kenshin. And, well, Tatsuya Kitani made an opening for it.
Now for the other manga I have no such excuse. It concluded eight years ago and has no adaptation in the works as far as I’m aware. Still, it was part of my 2024 so I’ll sing its praises here. Usogui is exactly as good as its small but incessantly loyal fanbase always said it was. The only translation I’ve found is a mess and then some for the first third or so, making this a much harder read than it should be, and it does take an unreasonable amount of time to set its stage. But once the stage is set, and the pieces start falling into place, it stops being a good read with some asterisks and becomes utterly impossible to put down. Now, would I recommend it? Depends. How much time do you have? Because that “unreasonable amount of time” Usogui takes to set itself up, which largely coincides with the worst translation errors, is 200 chapters. This is a 49-volume manga, and while it might be a 10/10 once you hit volume 20, getting to that point means reading through some borderline incomprehensible dialogue detracting from an otherwise good but not always great read. It’s a bit like recommending Gintama. If you have the patience to stick with it, chances are, this is going to be one of your favorite Manga. But if you go into it expecting to immediately get the 10/10 experience everyone told you it’d be, you will be disappointed. I for one enjoyed the early arcs enough to stick with it, and I might even have given this manga a high score is it had stayed at that level (translation errors not withstanding), but once everything started coming together and I started to realize just deep the main character’s plans really went it dawned on me that this would make my favorites list if it only stuck the landing. Which it does from what I heard, but as of the end of the year I have 150 chapters left to read, so I can’t definitively say yet.

hey,can u plz share ur personal thought on gojo, Kenny, yuki and Megumi?
hahaah, personal thoughts. let’s see, let’s see. i’m so sorry for the upcoming yapping but. 😮💨 spoilers up ahead—HOWEVER BE WARNED IT IS A NOVEL OH MY GOD I AM SO SORRY.
at the risk of having my gojo card revoked, i actually started off not really liking him too much because of the initial personality he let on. honestly props to gege for fleshing out his personality over the manga, because he quickly became one of my favourites.
i loved him as the concept of expected perfectionism from circumstances you can’t control. the idea of having to grow up perfect because you were had for a purpose is something i think unfortunately a lot of us can relate to even if we aren’t destined to be the strongest. (at the risk of doxxing myself, one of my parents is from a ‘we expect great things from you or else’ type culture/country that isn’t so common in the west) so seeing a character that actually does crumble in the representation is rare, to say the least.
the fact that he still tries to ensure that his students can have a semblance of a childhood despite their youth being fleeting to perhaps heal his inner child is something i won’t forget about his character and for that, despite his debut, will make him an eternal favourite among many in my heart.
ah kenjakuuuu. now that’s a difficult one because of the complexity of their character as well as the sheer depth due to how old they are. like because of them, the entire jjk plot line was able to take place and yet they’re not talked about as often. i feel like in some ways, gege made the perfect villain. i loved how unsettling they were when they talked and how it was always just like a slip away from being nonsensical. their unsettling smile that is built from centuries of just… existing, the things that they have to likely know. god. i dunno, it’s kind of attractive? even if they are a brain be damned, the cruelty and methodical aspect of their character just draws me in so bad.
i can’t help but want to always know more about them and i feel like i can forever explore their character for that reason because there’s so much potential to go with. i do understand why people hate on their character though because they are so evil lmao but that’s just evidence of them being the perfect villain, y know?
yuki, hmm. admittedly, i don’t really know a lot of her character because she was never a focus with writing for me. i have a very much later on upcoming yandere piece with her that i’ll study, but i think she’s honestly kind of realistic of a character, all things considered. she haunts the narrative by being a memory with the words she said to geto and for reminding choso that it’s okay to choose humanity which i liked about her involvement which is a pretty interesting scope of how the right words at the wrong time can be perceived to be harmful (what with her being blamed for geto’s dark side/decisions).
like, i don’t have a very in depth opinion of her but i like the way she was involved in the story. if there was more to her background, then it might have been different.
and finally megumi, poor megumi. :( i do feeeeeel like the general fanon conspiracy that claims that megumi shares a parallel with geto is at least true, because he does. my opinion of him is that i think to the younger fan base, that he’s relatable in a tragic way which makes him a well written character as well. i like him because he reminds me of being closed off and refusing to acknowledge vulnerability back when i was a teenager and while i thankfully didn’t have a cursed spirit inhabiting me and pushing my soul down, i think a lot watching/reading can relate to the limbo state his character was in. i think he deserved better from the start, which hopefully with how the ending goes, will never be challenged again.
SO SORRY FOR THIS NOVEL OH MY GOD

Hello, can I ask from this ask game :
https://www.tumblr.com/threecheersforinking/677824836625694720/anime-ask-game?source=share
For these series : JJK, TMNT, and Link Click ?
Thanks 🌻
(my post got wiped and I cry)
Thank you for the ask! I'll answer in order... although note that I have suuuchhh a hard time picking favorites for things/shows I like, but I shall try my best!
Jujutsu Kaisen
Favorite Character: Itadori yuji. One of the best written protagonists of all time. I love how he takes the 'wants to save everyone' trope and gives it the underlying reasoning of the avoidance of regret and grief, and the desire to not die alone because so far he has been alone (for whatever reason, I see it as because he was 'too nice' and would beat up the 'popular bullies'. Hence why he called himself a loner and hence why he became so attached to Nobara and Fushiguro despite the little time he's known them.) Also how this underlying narrative is tested and builds more nuance and flaws as the series goes on... overall Yuji's arc up until the Shibuya incident is very well done. (I have... mixed feelings post Shibuya and honestly would need to reread that whole arc)
Favorite Arc/Episode/Scene: Honestly.... the cursed womb arc. I know, I know, there's the hidden inventory and the shibuya incident and Maki's massacre of her family and the Gojo vs Sukuna fight... but hear me out. My favorite parts of storytelling are theme exploration, and I think this arc does it for Yuji's underlying motivations to save everyone. This arc builds nuance to this part of Yuji's character, contrasting his ideals with Fushiguro's logic: 'what if someone you save hurts other people in the future'. How Yuji then takes this upon himself, how the narrative says that perhaps the better option would've been to kill Yuji in the first chapter, how Fushiguro denies this and it gives Yuji hope for himself, has always given him hope, and always will. (So he has to save Megumi. I'm willing it into existence. Gege make it happen.)
Character I Think is Underrated: Yuji. Yuta. Maki. Mai. Mechamaru. Miwa. Shoko. Nobara. Fushiguro. ... most JJK characters honestly. There are a few characters that get the most attention from the fandom (they know who), and while they are AMAZING characters who DESERVE the attention they get... so does everyone else. Yuji is one of the most amazinggg protagonists I've ever seeeen and yet he gets little to no analysis and I got burnt out just before I could make a full analysis about him so yea I'm a hypocrite when I say this. But still. More attention to the rest of the cast please. Thank you <3
Character I Think is Overrated: I KNOW HE"S WELL WRITTEN AND A REALLY NUANCED AND INTERESTING CHARACTER WHO EMBODIES THE THEMES BUT.... Gojo Satoru, the fandom treats you as the best character in the animanga despite you're very character being about the desire to be treated as an individual like everyone else. And to be clear, I'm not saying that we should love Gojo less, far from it, I'm saying we should love the other characters more.
Favorite Ship/Pairing: (Note that I prefer dynamics to shipping although I do like shipping. I also tend to love shipping queer platonically and rave about dynamics and interactions) A tie between Satosugu and Itafushi (they parallel each other so how could I not love both of their dynamics?).. although I'm quite fond of Itadori x Junpei. They could've been the 'movie nerd duo' and they would've had the best moral parallels, especially when you consider Mahito and how they were treated (one was bullied and the other tries to fight against bullies) and how they see grief and kaljfalksdfklasdjf it would've been wonderous. I also think Yuta and Yuji are an underutilized dynamic (not shipping them). I would've loved to see more interactions and comparisons between them. IT WOULD"VE BEEN SOOO COOL I WOULD"VE BEEN OBSESSSED.
Something I Love About the Show/Movie: Each character has such nuance and embodies a section of the themes about Jujutsu society and how that effects the morals of an individual, and each character is nuanced and honestly the recent arcs do not fall short because of the characters, but because of the underutilization and pacing more so. Quite sad but when Jujutsu Kaisen shines it SHINES.
... I feel like these were supposed to be one sentence answers but it's fine... ONE DOWN TWO TO GO!
Tmnt (I've only seen Rottmnt so we're doing that one)
Favorite Character: DONATELLO (with a book in hand, saves the day and proves to everyone that he's the ma-). Okay but seriously he's portrayed as a character that cares in his own way in a POSITIVE LIGHT. Soooo many other shows would've taken his basic character and showcased it as selfish but Donnie is far from that. He likes his alone time and has a creative and analytical mind and interprets the world through his creations and interests and that is A GOOD THING THAT HE DOES NOT HAVE TO CHANGE. As a fellow creative an analytical mind that interprets the world through my interests and has been told I'm selfish and self-obsessed, Donnie means so much to me. (Yes, he's my #1 kin)
Favorite Arc/Episode/Scene: kjalfkljasdkfj OKAY OKAY.... I forget the name of it but the episode where Splinter takes Donnie's turtle tank to the demolition derby. I know I had another favorite episode(s) when I was in full hyperfixation, but to be honest it's been a while. My favorite episodes are the Donnie-centric ones (obviously), especially when he's with Mikey because that duo is ✨peak✨. But for the demolition derby episode, I think it provides a great view into Splinter's psyche as chasing the high of his prime, along with Donnie's desire for his dad to be proud of him. (I kin, I kin, I kin so much.) Also Mikey being the level-headed one in this situation. Absolute peak.
Character I Think is Underrated: Raph for sure. He's the sweetest older brother ever with just as much character nuance as the other three, and yet he gets the least amount of attention from the fandom as far as I've seen. (Again I'm a hypocrite for saying this but I do think Raph deserves more love.) Also April.. Casey... GAhhhhh I wish Rise got a season threeeee it would've been wonderous.
Character I Think is Overrated: I don't think any of the characters are necessarily overrated. I don't understand why everyone loves the disaster twins so much. (I feel like you could make them more 'disaster' if you have them bicker and cause issues rather than all of the 'they are each other's favorite person' that the fandom does. HOWEVER, I love the fandom interpretations of them, and overall, I love the rottmnt fandom a LOT, best fanfics and fanart and fancomics everrr)
Favorite Ship/Pairing: (not shipping/no tcest) Donnie and Mikey for sureee. It's the perfect combination of overdramatic mad scientist /aff with silly crazy-powerful artist /aff. What's not to love? Also the way that they contrast with each other, opposites yet similar, it's wonderous.
Something I Love About the Show/Movie: It's what got me into loving slice-of-life/episodic narratives, and what got me to release my 'every story needs to have only important scenes with conflict' mindset when it comes to storytelling. Rottmnt is mainly the brothers hanging out with each other and going on the odd adventure and it's wonderous. It's amazing storytelling because it differs from the predecessor's saving the world. It's silly and jovial and feels like siblings having fun with each other. AND YES I have three other siblings and we've been socially isolated for the longest time because of multiple mowings (pre-covid) and covid (made it no better) and our family in general being undiagnosed neurodivergent introverts and rottmnt means a loooot to me for what it is and what it offered to me. I was in one of the longest spirals of my life at the time and rottmnt brought back color to my monochromatic life and IT SHOULD GET A SEASON THREE BRING BACK RISE KAJFLSKDJFKLd
ANd yet again.. Noorie has rambled. Noorie will ramble again, here we go:
Link Click
(I started scrolling on the link click gifs and the musical is sooo cuttee i love all their interactions akfaskldfj)
Also note this is my most recent hyperfixation and it usually takes me about a month or two to have the most fleshed out thoughts but I shall try!
Favorite Character: You. can't. do. this. to. me. /pos KLJDKLFJSDKLJFKLDJF HOWWW DO I DECIDEEEEE NOO. KAS FAHHSHF. Okie okie er... Cheng Xiaoshi. I still have to dissect and analyze him but he's just SUCH a good character. The way his backstory is revealed bit by bit until the end of season one where we get his full flashback scene is sooo interestingg and effectiveee AAA- Plus the way he's overwhelmed with emotions easily, how easily he trusts others, even more than he trusts himself, how he seems to be 'just a little silly', and he is silly, but when given time to process his thoughts and emotions, he is quite strategic and effective at adapting his plans to the situation. (Which is especially interesting in how that contrasts Lu Guang's need to have control over everything, the general inflexibility of his plans). Also how Cheng Xiaoshi teases Lu Guang and how much he loves and clings to those he loves. How much he wishes for his parents to return and how much hope he has that he can save everyone/bring everyone together and keep them from leaving him again. THERE'S SO MANY LAYYERRRS I NEED TO DECIPHER THEM ALLL
Favorite Arc/Episode/Scene: howwww dooo I deciddeee it's alll dooonee sooo weelll. Nott a singgllllee baddd orrr borrinngg eppiisoddeee I sobbbbb I can't pick a favoritteeee. ... OKay this might be because I just finished watching episode five, but that whole arc (episodes 3-5) is done so well and starts off with a silly basketball game that gives more information on Lu Guang and CHeng Xiaoshi's relationship and slowly builds to the earthquake and the most devastating backstory to present day scenes I've ever seen for a character. From a storytelling perspective Link Click is just so well done all around and this arc exemplifies that. I also loveee any moments of Cheng Xiaoshi and Qiao LIng being siblings. Also, QIao Ling slapping Qian Jin and just season twooo is crazzzyyyyy. I can't pick on whether I love season two or season one more despite them having two different narrative structures... I just remember season one more because it's episodic and I have it downloaded on my computer. (It was on internet archive... and it would be NICE if season two was on there toooo)
Character I Think is Underrated: Honestly, all characters are given lots of love and attention for the amount of screentime they get. Qiao Ling could always use more love though. Qiao Ling supremacy.
Character I Think is Overrated: None really. The fandom is really nice and really good at art and writing and the ANALYSIS HOLY HERBS *sparkle eyes*. It's all wonderous and I love Link Click soooo muuuuchhhh
Favorite Ship/Pairing: Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu Guang are literally queer platonic partners in cannon. /half joking but for real the act like queer platonic partners. With all the making noodles and dumplings for each other and the constant reassurances and canonical cuddling (they held hands in season two aklfjasdklf) plus how much they canonically care for each other. I rambled about that on another ask but they have constant shows of affection and how much they tease each other and they are probably my favorite pairing everrr. ALSO Cheng Xiaoshi and Qiao Ling as siblings (not shipped) are peak fiction. They have the most bickering yet reassuring dynamic ever. Part of the reason why I like that season two has less dives is that it gives QIao Ling more screen time and really makes her part of the trio. The backstory with them both means everything to me. It's so sweet and saddd I sobbb.
Something I Love About the Show/Movie: Literally what's not to love? APPARENTLY THERE'S A GAZILLION AND ONE MEDIUMS, NOT JUST THE SHOW and they're all amazing??? I want the adaptation of the donghua into the manhua sooo baddd. The pacing is done to perfection, never once was I bored. The 20-minute episodes felt like five minutes while still covering so much ground and giving each character the time they deserve to develop them (although Lu Guang... where's the backstory..../pos /j). It perfectly balances humor and silly interactions between the characters with ripping your heart out and making you ugly cry. THe cliffhangers are never annoying and the SOUNDTRACK. THE FRICKING SOUNDTRACK IS WONDEROUS I SANG VORTEX ON REPEAT TO CALM MYSELF FROM PANICING AT MY STATS AP EXAM. The animation is sooo cozy and well done and I want to live in their shop and use my non-existent money to buy as much Link Click things as possible.
Annnddd THat's it! Thank you for the ask! If you've read all the way up to here... I commend you. That's a feat in and of itself.

"Sure. So for Geto it's mostly that I don't like villains with a bigoted ideology and he's too incompetent to even fall in the "love to hate" category. Really, the worst thing a villain can be is incompetent and Geto in Vol 0 is barely better than your average disney villain. Doesn't help that he never gets pushback on his ideals. Gojo tells him in Premature Death that killing people is bad, but that's it. He spouts his bullshit about how genocide is totally necessary and Yuuta stands there like "idk you might be right, but you want to kill people I care about and that's the real crime here". Nobody really engages with his ideology except Yuki I guess, but that was before he became an antagonist. I could forgive that to a degree if he was at least a real threat, but he isn't. You don't get any of that with Geto, he's not even fun to hate because he barely provides any pushback. He's a bad villain and I dislike him as a person as well. His descent into embracing the superiority of sorcerers and resolving to kill all non-sorcerers was well written, but I don't feel for him at all. Good riddance to the guy, I'm glad he's now dead both in body and mind."
I was so sad, when reading this, what do you think?
When previously asked about JJK Antagonists I didn't mention Geto even though... he is my favorite.
It should also be said that, in terms of scary movies, I love a good creature feature or a deluge into the supernatural but, the scariest movies to me? Will always be the ones with human villains because they're far more plausible.
That summation of Geto is that person's opinion so I, personally, am unmoved by it. I've seen so many piss poor interpretations of Gojo and Geto's characterizations that it's honestly just best to let the story play out so people can retroactively come to some sort of understanding. Moreover, I think there are a lot of people who struggle to concede that, between Gojo and Geto, there was always love. Without that, you can't understand his spiral, you can't acknowledge the humanity of the villain. Moreover, to not understand Geto is to not understand Gojo. And.. since JJK seems to very much be a circular parallel between SatoSugu and ItaFushi, if you can't understand them you miss the whole story.
I'd be curious what villain doesn't have a bigoted and/or radical ideology, especially in shonen? They're meant to be horrible and hard to empathize with. Unless that person's tolerance for villainy is Oikawa from Haikyuu? Most stories hinge on the main character espousing a piece of whatever makes villains.. villains. RE: Yuji being a cursed vessel, Denji being a devil, Tanjiro's proximity to demons, Eren being a titan, Kaneki being a ghoul... I'd argue Naruto and Nine Tails but literally haven't seen the show at all to confidently compare.
Even so, let's get into Geto.
Gorgeous, gorgeous boy. So earnest, so upright... so forged to break.
I recently went on a tirade about SatoSugu which I won't rehash here because... then I'll feel inclined to add more and no one wants to see an adult woman cry today.
As a character, Geto attempts to be incredibly principled. Design wise, he is stylized with features that liken him to Buddha which I think he individually plays into as well to give himself some sort of identity. From his long hanging lobes signifying wisdom and compassion capable of hearing the cries of the suffering, to his gentle chastising of Gojo's flippancy. He believes that the strong should protect the weak while also keeping the strong in check. But... how would a jujutsu outsider come to such a noble ideal?
We know next to nothing about Geto's parents except that they were not sorcerers and, based on his affectionate ability to recognize family beyond blood ties, I think it'd be fair to make some assumptions about what typically informs a characters predilection for the found family trope. 👀
His cursed technique, I think, creates an impetus for purpose. I don't know how he figured out he could do curse manipulation. But we know he swallows the curse, the likes of which is compared to a rag that had been used to mop up vomit, in order to subjugate it. This process, this martyrdom of ingesting the negative run off of mankind has to have a reason to justify his suffering. Because, as the only person we see with this technique, it must feel like a burden only he knows. Moreover, with a special class technique, it's not like he's given much of a choice. But if it helps people, if it has meaning, purpose... he can endure.
We've seen the perfect storm of events that, don't necessarily challenge his pre-existing ideals, but... force him to question whether the ends justify the means. We can call each of these events a moral injury and I don't think it's a stretch to say that there is a link between staunch morality and radicalism which I'm going to bastardize as saying a person may have their ideals on a righteous pedestal. Believing that if I do "A" and "B" then "C" is sure to follow and it allows them purpose and reason. But life is seldom free of other stimuli. I'm not going to go into great depth about examples of this but suffice it to say, this break in Geto's belief system caused an internal chasm we see immediately.
When Gojo asks him if he should kill the believers that applauded Riko's death, Geto said "no, there'd be no reason" which I believe is sufficient for Gojo since he readily leans on Geto as a moral compass. But Geto keeps rationalizing further, likely to curb his own impulse to kill those gathered ignorantly in celebration. OP talks about no pushback on his ideals but the truth of the matter is the biggest pushback for Geto is internal.
When he decided to slaughter that village, he didn't leave a margin of error to come back from. He had to keep moving forward, keep pushing to achieve this impossible world because to not would mean that the atrocities he committed were done in vain and we know, from his characterization, that he would not be able to accept that. Gojo speaks of Geto not starting a war he can't win during JJK0 which is empirically incorrect. When they parted ways in high school, Geto relented that with Gojo's power, his vision could come into fruition. They both knew he didn't have the means to achieve this but he didn't have anything else to stand on. So he hurled himself further and further from his previous path of righteousness and further from himself. He'd committed too great a sin to not give it meaning. To question it now would shatter him completely.
So much of what makes Geto compelling is the fact that he is inherently characterized as a good person, forthright and gentle. He'd have been a great teacher. In fact, the events that transpired between Gojo and Geto are why Gojo is a teacher in the first place. I believe he tried to be a great father figure to Nanako and Mimiko (again, let's forget the murder for a minute) because he pointedly did not raise them in the ways or traditions of jujutsu society. He protected them as best he could even though they still didn't survive their teenage years because they were ignorant about binding vows with sorcerers! Crazy when you think about it. Even what he thought to be a kindness to them cost them fatally.
Things happened to him, likely intentionally, to create this departure from reality and the jujutsu world. He was forged to break because he lacked the flexibility and nonchalance to not be overly concerned for others. He wasn't a diabolical genius, he was overly compassionate and at a complete and total loss when terrible things continually happened to good people who were already sacrificing so much. Riko Amanai was resigned to give up her short life to guarantee the future of Japan. Haibara was a ray of sunshine who, with the means to do so, wanted to help people. The twins were simply cursed to see things the other villagers couldn't, a burdensome reality that damned them to a life he was finding no meaning in, himself. His weakness perhaps lay in a weakness of character? but I wouldn't even say that, honestly. He's like placid water hiding a violent undercurrent deep below the surface.
The gap between who he was and who he died as should be jarring. It should be a demonstration of the grisly reality of jujutsu society. Where classes of 2-3 children are regularly pressed to fight beyond their means against horrors only they know. The sacrifices of the few to protect the many regardless of their virtue. That's the point. He was a casualty of a system that would always lead him toward a moral crisis.

I might post more Ouma art tbh, love drawing the stupid idiot. ISTG I HATE HIM JUST AS MUCH AS THE NEXT PERSON, BUT HES SO... STUPIDLY WELL WRITTEN AND IT MAKES ME SO HAPPY???
Jax from The Amazing Digital Circus. Not AS problematic as Ouma, but still relatively dislikes throughout the fandom. Mahito from Jujitsu Kaisen. OKAY I HAVENT FINISHED JJK YET IM STILL ON SEASON 1 (Mostly bc Ive seen hella spoilers and its just taking me a while to actually watch it since I already know what happens) BUT AAGHHHHHH MAHITO SUCKS I HATE HIM. Sorry, but I need to say something I've been thinking about for a while. I found geto's death forcing. 1.he loses to a boy with no experience and the power of ''love''. 2.he was stronger and had more knowledge and experience than the boy yuta. 3. It seems that the author just wanted to get rid of geto so that this annoying villain Kenjaku could come. 4. In my opinion, Geto is the best villain. I don't understand why the author didn't want to continue with him. 5. His death was forced because Saturo already had a change in character and personality. What I'm trying to say is that in the film, Satura is already different, he's no longer that immature young man. 6. the serious work was much more dramatic if geto had survived saturo blow he would have become stronger and returned as a villain again with sukuna. Sorry if it's big, but I have these doubts that such a good and well-constructed character had a horrible ending and very little.
I get you, Anon. You have every right to feel that way.
Honestly, as someone who does enjoy Geto, I'll tell you right now that your first point reminded me why I have came to hate the word "fraud".
I really hate what fandoms have done now to that word because it's like that word is thrown at every single character.
Lately, I keep seeing people call Geto a "fraud" because he lost to Yuta, but I'm sitting here like "what the hell is he faking though"?
They really associate losing to being a fraud and it's ridiculous.
Look, I adore Yuta, I do. But let's not sit here and act like Yuta wasn't having a difficult time against Geto because he was.
"Why is Geto considered a Special Grade"?
I don't know, maybe because his technique literally can bring about chaos all over Japan as how Kenjaku used it after the Shibuya Incident? Maybe because he did in fact trained as the same as Gojo did during their school years?
"He doesn't even have a domain"!
Domains are literal trump cards in JJK. It's actually impressive Geto hasn't relied on one. And how do we know he doesn't have one? Just because he didn't use one doesn't mean he doesn't have one. It's like saying a person doesn't have a purple shirt just because you didn't see them wear one that day.
I just can't with people!
The thing that gets me about the whole Yuta vs. Geto fight is that is it expected that Geto would have lost, even more so when the story made it clear that Yuta was going to be a strong individual, but it's how people are reacting to it that annoys me.
Oh my gosh, yes, he lost to a 16-year-old. A 16-year-old who happens to have an insane amount of cursed energy and a bond with the "Queen of Curses", and ooh! He's related to Gojo!
People saying this like it's a brand new concept and just to rag on Geto fans. Why though? You... you cannot be that bored! Yuta is written to be an overpowered character, while Geto was not.
Now, I could be wrong about this. But I feel like Geto was written to be a character that "haunts the narrative" much now just Toji does.
Geto, to me, is an interesting villain and I actually would have loved to see the years of from how he started his cult at 17 to an adult.
In relation to Kenjaku, that just reminded me of a post I saw that pretty much bashed Geto and praised Kenjaku. Now, the JJK villains, I enjoy them all to an extent, I do. And as such, it gets me sometimes how some Kenjaku fans (not all, folks, chill) will bash Geto like he's the worst and even as far as calling him ugly when... Kenjaku literally wanted to merge humanity with Tengen... for a laugh. Kenjaku has done some heinous things, too, come on. And going as far as to calling Geto ugly is funny when Kenjaku is walking around with his face.
Like, Kenjaku actually seeked out to use Geto's body. Not any of the other Special Grade sorcerers or anyone else. His technique was useful for Kenjaku and let's not forget that because of that face and that voice, Kenjaku put the Strongest Sorcerer in a box.
I won't lie, I'm actually intrigued how the plot would have been like if Geto survived and came back later for some more villainy. Him in Kenjaku's spot would be different... but that's a different I gotta see!!

What are your fave ships for Batfam/Jason?
Oh gosh.
I actually don't have any ship I'm like. Married to!! Which is wild because I have been writing for a (used to be) rarepair in jjk for like three years before coming back around to the old haunt of DC. I don't (currently lol) seek out ship fics, and never really did even like seven years ago when I was fresh into watching YJ. The big draw for the Batfam to me is their fucked up familial relationships. Could not say anything about my home life, obviously
Jason isn't a character I tend to think about when I want to read ships, but I think he's an honored disaster bisexual who can't tell if he wants to date all the lebsian-coded women in his life or be them. I will wholeheartedly admit I honestly don't know nearly enough about any of his suitors aside from what canonical interactions people have had with him in things like RHATO, which I know is not always the most accurate, well-written storyline for non-Jason characters (and, hell, sometimes even the man, the myth, the legend himself).
One of the things I want to work on in 2025 is just!! Reading other comics!! Familiarizing myself with things outside of current issues of Batman-centric stories!! Reading Young Justice from the 90s and Titans from the 70s/80s! I don't feel like I can ship much just bc... I need to know about both participants more before they start jumping each other's bones or helping each other do taxes dfdbGND
I do think on a surface "if I see it and find it endearing I'll reblog it" level, I can qualify superbat, clois, batcat, dickkory, dickroy, jaykyle, and timkon have all met those standards so far. I am neither closed off to anythig else nor is that a concrete list; if friends write or send me fic recs I'll read them, sure! I'll read pretty much anything at least once. I think the only exception is the brothers -- I don't care abt batcest on a moral high-horse level or whatever but it's not my tea lol
#haven answers#its so funny when people ask me about jt i'm like shaking a magic 8 ball and it spitting out 'try again later'#i don't even ship his ass with therapy. whatever's wrong w him is way funnier

Fic Author Self Rec
I know me and the moots have been delivering some beautiful writing since this first went around so we're bringing it back before the end of the year! Post 5 of your favorite fics you've written and share a little about it ♥♥♥
Tagging: @yeowangies @actuallysaiyan @dreadsuitsamus @beneathstarryskies @emmacornell @missnebulaa @vegeta-bananabluish + anyone else who writes and sees this please share and talk about your favorite things you have written
My five favorites from my own fics(of this year):
— Gogeta Soulmates Valentine
Plot-wise, this was definitely in the top three of my favorite vday requests and I really enjoyed writing the soulmate concept. Gogeta is still one of those characters that doesn't come as easy to me to write but when I get it, I get it! And he's always softer than what I intend for which I love.
— Bedtime Story
**JJK SPOILERS** I honestly ain't been the same since Toji's second death and what it reveals about him. First death? Well okay you died doing what you loved sweetie time to rest. Second death? Please sedate me I have not known a singular day of peace! 😭😭 But I needed a Toji fic that wasn't him just blowing out backs. So I just wrote him being a dad and husband, happy, existing in the same space at the same time as his wife and child while she tells a bedtime story to Megumi that becomes about them AND THEY ALL LIVE HAPPILY EVER AFTER. Wishing everybody but the Zenin clan and Mahito a very peaceful rest of the year.
— All My Soul Within Me, Burning.
Wrote this mostly for the Halloween season and Fn-f movie, also I weirdly had just noticed at the time majority of Gero's androids have the same blue eyes and wanted to do something with that. This is probably one of maybe two fics I wrote this year without any pairings or romance. With this AU, I toyed around with the idea of an angry spirit (a la fn-f lore style) being trapped inside his own body from his violent death, only now his body is this "bio-android prototype" shell and he represents Android 16 instead of canon 16. After Bulma fixes him, the spirit starts to regain some of his memory and fights against Gero's android programming. I wanted to continue this but of course SOTS took priority and now I think it's fine as a standalone one-shot for its little twist ♥
— Royal Pains
Praise to the only threesome I wrote this year! Virgin!Vegeta plot has to be the highlight of the year though, I love how involved everyone was with this concept and the many fics that were born from it. ♥♥♥♥ Consider this one a fave more for what the prompt inspired from a few of my favorite fic writers than what I wrote, but I'm always proud anytime I get to write a flustered Vegeta. It's the only way I know how to write him.
— Back At The Garden
Obviously ss4 Goku is in my faves. He is my king 😭♥ This one is just a plot bunny that got stuck in my head until I wrote it down. One thing about my TWYSILY fics, they're probably gonna get sequels nobody asked for and this is always a safe space for SS4. ♥
