60. home akaashi ; hogwarts!au, 1,450 words

whoever first thought up ‘home is where the heart is’ clearly didn’t have any idea what they were talking about. because more often than not, home is specifically where the heart is not -- it’s where you go to hide away from your heart, rather than face it. it’s where there are skeletons in the closet and doubts are shut away in the medicine cabinet, but there’s a comfort in knowing that. in knowing where each old haunting lives. 

home, akaashi knows, is not where the heart is.

it’s where comfort goes to find company, where fears play hide and seek with the shadows on the walls. where halcyon afternoons lay like scattered marbles across the floor, waiting for you to scoop them back up again. 

“are you going home for the winter holidays?” 

he glances up at you from over the long table, his hufflepuff scarf hung loose around his neck. 

“nah... though bokuto did invite me to his. did you know his family owns an owl-breeding business? must be a mess.” 

you laugh, the sound bright and tinkling. like windchimes. or birdsong.

“no wonder he’s always so... owlish.” 

akaashi grins, looking back down at his half-eaten shepherd’s pie. 

“yeah. makes sense, doesn’t it?” 

he glances up again when you slip into the seat across from him, your own ravenclaw robes pristine, the head girl’s badge gleaming against your chest. 

“well... if you want to...” 

you lick your lips and he can’t help noticing the way your cheeks go pink. it’s the most beautiful shade of pink he’s ever seen, like peonies in spring, or the shade of the sky just as the sun’s beginning to set. 

“you can come to mine. we’ve got a big house, and extra rooms and stuff. mum and dad are always hosting relatives over, so...” 

his eyes go wide, his heart suddenly pumping somewhere in his right ear. the sound of it so loud he almost can’t hear his own voice over it. 

“oh -- i wouldn’t -- i mean, i don’t --” 

you shake your head quickly, holding up your hands, “it wouldn’t be an intrusion! i promise! and uhm -- well --” 

your hands fall onto the table between you. he watches as you twiddle with your fingers, as if puzzling out the right words to say next. he swallows down the anticipation cresting at the back of his throat. 

“i want you to come.” 

akaashi blinks. 

“huh?” 

you flush, again, deeper, redder. he bites back the wave of affection curling in his belly. god, he feels like such a stupid little boy, letting his thoughts catch on the edges of your smile. his heartbeat stuttering with his breath, unsure of which should go before the other, as if his body has forgotten how to do both in tandem. 

“i... i want you to... to come with me.” 

“uh...” 

you look up at him, properly, this time. and he can see that hard-edged determination he’d so often tried to find in himself (just tell her how you feel, just freaking tell her already!). 

“it’s better than going to bokuto’s owl-infested house.” 

akaashi lets out a surprised laugh. 

“might be fun. owls are pretty great.” 

you crinkle your nose, squeezing your fingers together. and he almost grins at how entirely cute you look, struggling like this. for him (because of him). 

“you -- you don’t have to, if you don’t want to. i mean -- i’m sure bokuto’s would be nice too --” 

“i’ll come.” 

“-- and owls have never been my thing -- always been more of a cat person my -- oh -- you will?” 

you blink at him; he grins back, forking up a bite of shepherd’s pie. 

“if i wanted to hang out with owls, i’d just go up to the owlery.” 

you let out a helpless laugh, your shoulders falling lax after spending so long hunched up in anticipation. 

“right... i guess... i guess you would.” 

akaashi licks his lips, watches the way your eyes track the movement. he hums, offering you a glass of pumpkin juice, which you gladly accept, downing the whole thing in three gulps. 

“i’ll -- i’ll see you later then.” 

he nods, flashing you a smile, wondering if this playing it cool thing that bokuto keeps on going on about is really worth the while. maybe if he’d just told you, this entire stuttering mess of a conversation could’ve been avoided. perhaps he could’ve kissed you, before telling you he’d see you after classes. 

or, something to that degree. 

he glances down at the crumbs of his pie. 

or, well, a boy can dream, can’t he? 

your family house is just as he’d imagined it -- just as you’d described, a huge conglomeration of rooms and corridors, one trailing off the other, as if the architect had simply pointed their wand whichever direction it landed and conjured whatever room tickled their fancy. 

your parents are nothing if not magnificent hosts, welcoming him with hugs and a few very large cheek-kisses from your mum, much to your continued embarrassment. your brother had given him a half-hearted glare along with a once over and a handshake that said stay the hell away from my sister. 

akaashi wonders if he should listen. 

but then you smile at him from across the dinner table, an entire galaxy of stars sparkling behind your eyes, and he decides to screw your brother’s unvoiced warning. there’s no way in hell he could ever stay away from you. 

the days blur into a series of freezeframe laughter, the three of you throwing a quaffle around in your vast backyard, one that overlooks the countryside. your cousins arriving from god knows where. snowball fights in the morning after a particularly blizzard-ridden night. you, with your nose and cheeks pink from the frost, pulling him behind the shed in the back to kiss him. 

he kisses you back, his hands freezing even in his mittens. 

that night, they’re all singing carols around the fireplace, your father poking at the large gramophone once in a while when it skips. your group of roudy cousins all cramed onto the overstuffed couch, swaying with the lyrics. 

his hand finds yours, and he gives you a squeeze. you blush, brilliantly, before glancing back at him and smiling. 

later that evening, your mum’s humming to herself as he goes to pour another glass of sherry, your brother laughing at something or other with one of your cousins. and you find yourselves in the hallway leading into the living room, or maybe it was the dressing room. he doesn’t really remember, what with the number of rooms there are. but he doesn’t really care. 

and he wonders if this is what home really feels like. if this is what it’s always meant to be. not some fragmented, broken collection of would-be memories, but something lighter, thicker. like freshly fallen snow. 

you glance up, your new christmas sweater just a bit large on your shoulder. 

“mistletoe.” 

you point above his head, and he laughs. 

“oh. hm. guess you have to kiss me now, right?” 

you grin, leaning up onto your tiptoes to brush your noses. 

“isn’t it the other way around?” 

he quirks his head, “i thought the one under the mistletoe gets kissed.” 

you curl your hands around his neck, and his hands find their way to your waist, pulling you close. 

“no, i’m pretty sure you have to do the kissing.” 

he presses his lips. 

“how do you know?” 

you smile, “i’m head girl, i know these things.” 

“ah. is that what the badge is for?” 

you roll your eyes, “are you going to kiss me or not?” 

akaashi grins, leaning down to press his lips to yours. you taste like happiness made solid, like the answer to all his questions. like solidarity and sanctuary, like belonging, properly, for the very first time. 

he thinks that he should be able to taste his own heart on his tongue, wonders why it’s not thumping out of his throat. 

then, he wonders if he’s left it cupped in the palms of your hands the other day, when you first kissed him. and he thinks that that’d be alright too. 

he decides that maybe, just maybe, if that’s the case -- home just might be where the heart is. if it’s with you. 

or maybe, home was never even a place at all, but a person. 

maybe, just maybe, he’s found his home, after all this time. 

and it’s right here, next to you.

alright so on today’s episode of what i think about while i should be doing schoolwork:

the title of the of the sixth book (more specifically character, bc tbh i have no idea about the full title)

so i’ve been thinking, and my brain has come up with some sort of logical conclusion for the sixth book title that really isn’t logical in anyway, but i still feel the need to write it out, so here we go!

as of the moment, all of the characters who get book titles are as follows: hinata, suga, noya, oikawa, akaashi, ???, yamaguchi

and so looking at this list, my brain separates it into two patterns (?), age level and what group they’re in

for the sake of convenience, i’ll be referring to them as a 1-3 years respectively lol

so we have 2 first years, 2 second years, and 2 third years. we know the sixth book focuses on the sugawara/noroi family, which is interesting as suga would have graduated by this point and has already gotten his book. but for this reason, i’m not completely ruling out the fact that the sixth book title might be a third year (specifically daichi), but i still think it’s more unlikely if anything.

we also got 1 heart member (i forget if they have a more specific name), 2 investigation club members, and 2 crows. plus akaashi ofc, i’m kinda splitting him at .5 for heart and .5 for investigation

now thinking about it, the third book especially focused heavily on more than just noya’s story. there was hinata obviously, but there was also yachi and kuroo playing major roles, which leads me to think neither of them are book six’s title

and tanaka has been getting his moment in book 4 especially, as are a lot of characters, but he’s very highlighted imo, so i also don’t think he’s the sixth book title.

book 5 is going to focus on akaashi, and with association bokuto, so i’m also ruling him out for book six.

(just adding this on now, i realize we have 1 hufflepuff, 1 ravenclaw, 2 slytherins and 2 gryffindors in our list of known character titles, and it supports my theory)

so adding up all of the info, the members in groups that have been least focused on are in the heart group, and hufflepuff/ravenclaw. and since it’s sixth book, it makes most sense for the title character to be a 1st or 2nd year.

and that brings my to my conclusion, of the the title character for the sixth book either being kageyama (i’m leaning towards him more) or kenma !!!

excuse the absolute organized madness this is, i was attempting to do schoolwork and my brain just went “No. Theory Now.”

Okay, so, I can say that Kageyama is going to be one of the major characters for the fifth book. For the fifth book, the major characters arcs (other than Hinata and that aren’t major spoilers) are Akaashi (with Bokuto), Kageyama, and Tanaka.

For the sixth book title, since reading this theory was so cool, I figured it would be way more fun to give a hint as a riddle (ya know, because I’m both a jerk and a nerd):

I put Terushima in Hufflepuff, despite him apparently being the smartest canon character, I don't think he'd enjoy having to use so much brainpower lol. He strikes me as someone that wants to play with his friends, have fun, party, etc.

Kageyama is a little of everything, so idk. He's smart and quick thinking like Ravenclaw when it comes to volleyball, but meh everywhere else, he's a bit of an airhead/goofy like I think some Hufflepuffs would be, he's ambitious and intense like Slytherins, but gungho and all for competing and doing what he can and working hard to be the best like Gryffindors.

3 am shenanigans

It’s 3 am in the morning. Almost everyone is fast asleep or in their homes, well almost. The night sky is littered with diamond in the sky. The streets were silent but it was comforting. A few people walked here and there. And a few cars passes by there and here. “What are we doing up so late?” A silver haired man said as he yawned. “We’ll be going to Mc Donald’s! What else?” The female responded as she smiled at him. “Is it even open at this time?” He asked. “Koushi, darling, it is open,” Kay, the lover of our beloved silvered male man said as she smiled. Sugawara chuckled and held her hand, the smile on his face was evident. “You know, we should be sleeping by now right?” He said as he pulled her closer. “And so what? I wasn’t planning on sleeping early! I slept the whole day yesterday and missed the chance to hang out with you,” The girl responded.

A small blush appeared on the male’s face and he giggled. “That’s very sweet bu-“ He was about to say but was silenced by the girl. “That was very sweet but we could’ve done this later on or tomorrow. Well, sorry to break it to you, Love. But, we are here,” She said as she pulled the male inside the fast food chain. And soon enough, the two got their orders and enjoyed their meal. “I don’t know why but this hits different,” Kay said as she eat a French fry. “It really does. Especially since you are here,” Sugawara stated as he patted her head. Now, she was the one blushing. As the two chatted, the other customers and staff glanced at them every now and then. None of them were annoyed at their interactions. On the contrary, they enjoyed watching them,

Some felt envious of their relationship. Some dreamt to have something like that. And others remembered the times of old. The two were so sweet, it’s almost too much. Laughter and chattering echoed through the building from both the couple and the people around them. Then they were dub the “3 am couple” as the two would often venture in that restaurant at 3 am in the morning.

hiya, for haikyuu matchups, i'm a bi (leaning towards guys) girl of short-average height with long, straight, black hair and v dark eyes. i'm an isfp-t + i don't initiate conversations with people i'm unfamiliar with. i can be analytical and judging/observing, but then i can also be impulsive and act/speak without thinking, leading to some regrettable decisions. 1/4 - 👑

I'm gonna assume this is for the one in each house version, and ohoho its been so long since I sorted characters and now is my Time

Bokuto - Gryffindor: This one you just know from his vibes, but i actually have backup for this. He's confident and wants all eyes to be on him. He's hungry for success, but not in a particularly ambitious, Slytherin way - its more for the gratification and pride of it. He's quick to help others, shown in how he takes Hinata under his wing.

Kuroo - Slytherin: Alright Kuroo just screams sly and cunning like. Look at him. But also, he's ambitious and very well knows how capable his team is, and seems to get an even bigger kick out of winning or the possibility of it if it's against a rival, whether the rivalry is friendly or less so (both Nohebi and Karasuno). Slytherins are also shown to be strong leaders, and we all know Kuroo is a good captain.

Tsukishima - Ravenclaw: I'd sort him into ravenclaw either way, coz like. Generally good grades and intelligent? Check. Tactical player? Check. Sass Witty? Check. Acceptance? You might think not, but if you look at how he befriendef Yamaguchi, who didn't seem to really have any other friends at that point, how despite being annoyed by Kuroo and Bokuto he does have respect for them and seems to like them, and (though this one is a bit more obscure) you can see him interacting with Noya quite a lot despite him seeming a bit loud and annoying by his standards, you can see there's a certain degree of acceptance there.

Akaashi - Hufflepuff: Idk if I'd put him in hufflepuff if it wasn't for the fact that one of these had to be, but the loyalty, patience and kindness really jump out in how he handles Bokuto and his mood swings.

I really went off about Tsukishima there but like. The boy is very ravenclaw.

Ok look mostly because if you think about it. You would definitely be able to get him out of his emo mode. The down side is that he cant help you with studying lol. So both of you ask Akaashi for help. The fact your smol and he be a tol beefy boi is a definite upside, he can literally wrap his body around you when you cuddle and surround you in warmth and love.

Dude he would ask if you can be the teams cheerleader. (Of course I’m not sure if there are cheer teams at their school.) You cheering in the crowd makes Bokuto’s mood stay up permanently. He will always be in top form when he sees you in the stands. Bokuto isn’t the smartest but he is probably the most in tune with others emotions when he is close to them. Since your everyone’s cheerleader let him be yours! Watch out for a sudden title wave of love and affection. The man will let you know that you are loved every moment of the day.

Imagine a daily routine of yours if Bokuto running up behind you to give you hugs? Like it can be at school or literally in the streets. This boy wants you to feel loved.

He’ll also be the type to send you “Good Night I Love You” type texts every night with out fail.

Now I dont think Bokuto can dance, but he’ll try... and fail... Baking is something he can do though! Just beware of food fights in the kitchen lol. I don’t think romcoms are 100% his jam but he is willing to try them! Dude this man probably loves some magical girl anime not all. You "forgot" that Hinata knows that Lev accidentally ate Yachi’s favorite candy at the beginning of the 4th year. It is a very "important" secret xD With the last chapter I had a doubt: what is the relationship between Oikawa and Daichi?And do you have some headcanons for 6th year Gryffindor dorm (I like that dorm but MatsuHanaOiSuga dorm is the best)? And also...Happy new year!!

Lol, dang it, I knew I’d forget a Hinata secret.

The view of Daichi with most of the IC is pretty much like “ah, yes, Suga’s boyfriend--he seems nice and sane!” except for Iwaizumi who knows Daichi a bit better by being roommates who doesn’t really have any strong feelings other than “yeah, makes sense”. 

Internally, Oikawa’s a bit more rude and nitpicky (because when is he not) and also knows Suga the best. Oikawa already suspected/sorta remembered from first year that Daichi had a crush on Suga; but, since Suga didn’t seem particularly focused on it, Oikawa kinda assumed it was unrequited so didn’t bother mentioning it. When he found out they were dating after he woke up from petrification, he was probably like “shrug, okay, sure he seems nice enough”. When they were still dating after they got back for third year, Oikawa watched a little more closely and eventually concluded that Daichi didn’t pose any threat. Honestly, Oikawa probably thinks Daichi’s sweet, utterly besotted as he should be, dependable, and a teensy bit boring (at least before the whole werewolf thing) but Suga seems happy so whatever. Besides, he sorta suspects Suga might eat him alive one day (because really why does no one know that his beloved roommate is the craziest/ most chaotic one of them all!) and it pays off to stay close in case Suga needs help hiding a body one day. In short, he approves for (mostly) the right reasons.

For Oikawa’s view on his other friend’s romantic interests: Kenma’s legitimately terrifying so no way would he dare do anything less than 100% approve plus he just so happens to think it’s hilarious that Kuroo is totally whipped; Akaashi is annoyingly frustrating to get a read on and Oikawa gave up on that 2 years ago, eh, Bokuto will probably be fine.

Okay, 6th year Gryffindor dorm (Daichi, Asahi, Iwaizumi, and Kamasaki):

Spoilers for 3rd book

1.) Probably like the least used dorm in all of Hogwarts: Daichi and Asahi are generally in Noya, Tanaka, and Ennoshita’s dorm, Iwaizumi’s normally with the IC. Kamasaki’s normally in the Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff dorm hanging out with Moniwa (Ravenclaw), Sasaya (Hufflepuff), plus sometimes Konoha and Yaku (who study with Moniwa a lot from virtue of sharing a dorm with Kuroo who’s never freaking there either). Partly because of that and partly because they’re actually just all kinda tidy people, the sixth year Gryffindor boys dorm is always pretty clean and well put together. It kinda weirds people out because, uh, Gryffindor is not known for being clean, especially not the boys dorms. Nearly Headless Nick finds the whole thing suspicious. 

2.) All three of them found out Asahi’s a werewolf in first year because....really, the guy disappeared the entire night EVERY FULL MOON and was normally in the Hospital Wing the morning after for a few hours. It wasn’t hard to put together. I think we as a whole really give the Marauders too much credit for putting that together. 

3.) They all were supportive about the whole werewolf thing and agreed to never tell the secret to anyone (which is why even Iwaizumi just flat out never mentioned it to the rest of the IC and actually steered them away from considering the Shrieking Shack in the Find-Out-Who’s-Trying-To-Kill-Hinata meeting in the third story). 

4.) Asahi got mildly better at keeping it a secret by second year by volunteering with Nekomata in the Hospital Wing regularly so it really wasn’t that weird that he spent some of his mornings there--it’s also one of the reasons Asahi just really enjoys Healing and helping people. He’s the best at Healing in their year.

5.) A small review of the major dorms so this last one will make sense. 

-Noya, Tanaka, and Ennoshita’s 5th Year Gryffindor dorm is a constant source of chaos. 

-Hinata, Kageyama, Inuoka, Shibayama, and Sakunami’s 4th Year Hufflepuff dorm pretty much has the warm feel of a friendly puppy. 

-Kenma, Akaashi, Narita, and Kinoshita’s 5th Year Ravenclaw dorm is the chillest place on Earth. 

-Suga, Oikawa, Matsu, and Makki’s 6th Year Slytherin dorm is a mix of friendly and sharp if that makes sense plus constantly voted Dorm You Least Want to Piss Off. 

-The feel of the 6th Year Gryffindor dorm is quiet, clean, and fairly calm....partly because no one’s there most times.
