Chess. Chapter 10
Y/N never hurt anyone who didn’t deserve it. She only took what she needed, or what she felt others needed. She’d stayed out of sight for a long time, avoiding anything that could get her in to too much trouble. But for some reason Rick Flag shows up in her life, and in an instant, everything changes.
TW: Language, sexual themes, injuries. Rated M
(This story is obviously non-canon, i.e. Diablo and GQ, but I hope you’ll enjoy it either way. Let me know if you want to be added to the tag list.)
The next day our weapons were packed up for us; as we weren’t allowed to have them on us during the flight. They had doubled the guards for our transportation to the garage; as some of them would be joining us on the journey.
Apparently over his resentment towards Harley for keeping us awake the night before; Digger was cracking jokes, and messing with the pilot of the chopper taking us to Gotham. It was bigger than the one from a couple of days ago; seemed to be for transportation of goods, and not humans.
“Oy, mate. You ever see that movie, Con Air?”, Digger asked the pilot; who was clearly out of his element, and probably had never flown murderers and psychopaths across the country before. He fled to his seat in front of the aircraft, and Digger laughed hoarsely at us. “I think he’s seen it!”, he grinned.
Croc had been wheeled out on a standing gurney, strapped down, and mouth covered. They hadn’t untied him before boarding, but instead wheeled him into a large cage, and strapped the gurney to the bars. Five smaller cages were placed against the walls of the chopper, each equipped with a chair with straps that seemed to be supposed to function as seatbelts.
I took a step towards Rick, the guards around him quickly aiming their guns at me. “What the hell is this, Flag?”, I hissed.
He once again winced at my use of his last name. “Wallers orders. She’ll explain more once we arrive in Gotham”, he answered, voice leveled; not wanting to let anyone know about our connection.
Grabbing my arm, he led me to one of the cages in the chopper, pushed me inside, and closed the door; leaving us standing face to face – looking at each other through the bars.
“I need you to trust me. I’m going to make sure you all come out of this alive”, he whispered, and squeezed my hand before raising his voice. “Sit down and strap up prisoner. We got a long flight ahead”.
I looked at him, eyebrows furrowed; and then sat down in the chair.
Being led into his own cage, hands cuffed behind his back; Floyd smiled at the female guard locking the door. “Did they remember to tell you; I’m gonna want the vegetarian option”. She walked away from him, pretending not to hear. “Miss? Miss? Service at this airline is ridiculous”, he chuckled, and sat down to strap in.
Diablo had been drenched in water; and the Tweedles were seated on either side of his cage, each holding a fire extinguisher. He was grinning from ear to ear at the ridiculousness of the security measurement chosen to control him. We all knew none of it would do shit in the end, if he decided he wanted to use his fire.
“Where’s Harley”, Rick asked the guards, and they all looked confusedly at each other.
“I’m coming!”, Harleys voice yelled. Running down the hallway leading to the garage, with two guards – each dragging a brightly colored suitcase with one hand, and aiming guns at her with the other – trailing behind her.
Harley was dressed to the nines. Glitter stiletto boots; a barely there gold and pink sequined dress, and a faux fur coat. At least I guessed it was faux; as I’d never seen a purple, long haired zebra before. “Gosh, you’d think you’d give a girl time to pack up before a vacation”, she panted, and fanned her face with her hand. “This isn’t a vacation, Quinn. Get your ass on that helicopter!”, Rick growled, and followed her to her cage, locking it with her inside. Harley rolled her eyes at him, and strapped up like the rest of us.
“Arent you excited?”, she asked, beaming at me. “We’re going home!”. I shook my head. “We’ll be back here in no time”.
She grinned, and winked at me.
During our flight, Rick sat across the floor from my cage, continuously wringing his hands, and looking from between my eyes and the floor. At one point the female guard Floyd had been cracking jokes at earlier; came up to him with a small thermos.
“You look like you need a cup of coffee, sir”, she smiled sweetly. “I roast the beans myself”. Rick politely declined, and went back to starring at his boots. She pushed her hip out, bit her lip, and sighed. “Well, you just let me know if there’s anything at all you need”, she said, and turned to walk away, swaying her hips a little more seductively than her uniform could make look good.
I couldn’t help myself. I jumped at the cage, grabbed the bars, and starred her right in her face. “Sit down, prisoner!”, she said angrily.
I hissed at her, and bared my teeth; giving her the scariest face I could pull off. Mine, bitch!.
She jumped back, and rushed off to sit in her own seat; which happened to be next to Crocs cage. He growled; and she audibly swallowed, and looked away, holding on to her gun like it was a teddy bear. Crocs eyes smiled at me; and I smirked back.
Rick looked up at me and gave me a crooked smile. I half smiled back, and sat back down.
---
We landed a few hours later on a helipad on top of a large building in the outskirts of Midtown Gotham. Our cages were wheeled out of the chopper. Waller was waiting for us with a mustachioed man, who looked like he’d rather be anywhere but here.
“Commissioner Gordon”, Waller said. “This is Task Force X”. Gordon gulped. “You’ve probably met some of the team before”.
Harley sprang out of her chair, and stretched her arm out of the cage, as if to shake his hand. “Gordon! It’s been so long! How’s your wife?”, she smiled genuinely.
Floyd and Digger both chuckled, and sent each other a look.
“I don’t like this, Waller”, Gordon said. “You don’t have to like it, commissioner. You just have to accept it”. “You’re asking me to sign of on sending these sociopaths out on my streets, and hope that they won’t burn the whole city down in the process!”, Gordon raged.
“Psychopaths”, Harley corrected him. “Sociopaths are unable to show empathy, and to put themselves in others shoes. Psychopaths can fake it with the best of them”.
“Quinn, shut up”, Rick said, trying to hide a smile.
Waller continued. “This isn’t your call Gordon”, she said coldly. He frowned.
“You know, ever since I met you those three months ago; when you wanted me to let you use the bat-signal, everything has gone downhill”.
I gasped inaudibly. Him. He was the one that helped you. It was a trap. Rick took a step towards me, probably noticing my facial expression.
Waller looked at Gordon pointedly. “That’s a discussion for a different time”, she said, and I noticed her looking at me for a millisecond, before returning to him. “Why don’t you go on that vacation to Aruba you’ve been planning, hm?”.
Gordon grumbled something in response, and left us alone on the roof.
Waller turned towards us.
“Welcome to Gotham”. She turned to the guards. “Get them settled in”.
Rushing to me before my guard could reach my cage, Rick grabbed the bars. “I didn’t know, Y/N. I swear!”, he whispered; before the guard whisked me of to a nearby elevator.
---
We were placed under guard in an abandoned office building.
“Wow. Recession really hit this place hard, huh?”, Floyd said, looking around the large windowless room we were occupying.
“This is Wayne Enterprises property”, Rick answered him, glancing at me.
I sat, frozen in place, on my chair in my now opened cage. I hadn’t been able to stand up since it had been unlocked.
The guards had left us alone, after Rick – and Waller – had assured them that it was safe. Still; they were posted throughout the building, prepared for what they thought would be an inevitable escape attempt.
Croc, stretching his limbs from having been tied down for so long, walked over to me; put his hands on my shoulders, and pulled me into a standing position. My legs still wobbly; he had to hold on to me for a second, before lifting my chin to look at me.
“You a’ight, cher’?”, he asked, with his naturally gravelly voice.
“They set me up”, I answered.
“They set us all up, darlin’”, Digger said from his corner, sharpening his boomerangs – our weapons having been given back to us on the insistence of Rick.
“The first time they got me was on date night”, Harley said. She seemed far away again. “Mr. J took me dancing; and we were on our way home to cuddle up with a movie. Alice in Wonderland, my favorite”, she smiled at me. “It’s what she does. She gets us when we’re the happiest”. Her smile turned into something different. For the first time since I’d met her, Harley seemed… sad.
“No”, I said, trying to send her a look of sympathy. “I mean, before all this”. I went to the middle of the room, Croc trailing close behind to catch me if I decided to faint on them.
“A while back an acquaintance tracked me down at Sammy’s with an offer”, I said quietly. Selina had shown up at the club, wearing a black designer dress and sunglasses. Her topic of conversation had been interesting, but I’d been a little hesitant.
Selina, I know I owe you one for all the times I’ve asked you to feed my cats when I was working, but come on!, I thought to myself.
“She told me about a safe with a lot of money”, I continued. “I was short on cash, as I’d lost some money on a trip to Vegas”. A trip that had ended with me having to post bail for both me and my ex-“fiancée”, Melissa. “The safe was supposedly easy to reach; no thermal cameras, very few guards… It sounded too good to be true”.
“It was, huh?”, Diablo asked, leaning against a wall by the door.
“Yeah”, I answered. “She said she’d have done the deed herself, but didn’t have time due to other obligations. I didn’t need a lot of money to hold me over, just a couple of grand, ‘cuz I needed to help a friend”. I sent a look in Ricks direction. He nodded, knowingly. “Her only demand was that I donated most of the money to a shelter here in the city. I had no problem with that, as long as I could take what little I needed for my friend”.
“But she lied about the cameras and the security”; Rick said.
“I don’t know”, I answered. “Either that… or there was a tracker on the money. Shit, I have no idea, but a month later, you assholes showed up at my job, drugged me, and sent me to bumfuck Louisiana; to join your circus”.
Rick tightened his lips.
But Selina had known where I was all along. Why not just tell the Bat where I worked? Or was the safe another test?
My head was spinning. I sat down on a chair someone pulled out for me. Putting my head between my knees, I breathed heavily.
Rick got up and addressed the room. “You’ve all been assigned quarters here in the building. Please, try not to kill the guards. Croc, that means you”, he said, looking towards the large figure standing next to me. He growled in response.
“Get some rest. Tomorrow we move out”.
Everyone cleared out, each led by gunpoint to their designated room. Rick grabbed my arm tightly enough for it to look as if he was being rough with me. The female guard came up from behind us.
“Sir, we have a place set up for you on another floor. So you can get some privacy”, she said.
“I stay with my team”, Rick answered, and pulled me of in the direction of an adjoining corridor.
There were no guards in front of the door to my room. We were alone.
---
The room itself had clearly been an office. There were still indentations on the floor where a desk and a chair had stood. There was a file cabinet in the corner, drawers open and empty. On the floor lay a simple mattress with a pillow and a blanket covering it. A window let in the lights of the nighttime skyline. I put my hands against the window, fogging it up with my breath. Rick closed the door behind us.
“Y/N?”, he said quietly.
“Everything I’ve been through these last months… all lies”, I said, still staring out the window. “I can’t deal with anymore lies”.
“I’m not gonna lie to you, Y/N”, he said, and walked up behind me.
I turned around and looked at him. His eyes were intense – and honest. I took his hand and put it to my cheek. “I don’t want to think anymore. I need everything to just… stop”, I said, and grabbed a hold of his jacket, leaning in to him. He put his arms around me, and kissed the top of my head. “I know, kitten”. He exhaled and held me close. “I know”.
We stood there for a few seconds, before he let me go, and walked towards the door.
“Can you stay?”. He stopped dead in his tracks, and turned around; looking at me, bewildered. “You sure?”, he asked. I nodded. He stepped towards me.
“I’m not going anywhere until you ask me to”, he smiled warmly, and put me back into his arms again.
The room was chilly, but Ricks warmth spread through me, and for the first time since what felt like forever, my body relaxed, and I exhaled all the pain and frustration that had gathered inside me.
“Take me away from here”, I said, closing my eyes. “Where do you want to go?”, Rick asked, stroking my hair. “Anywhere”.
Rick chuckled. “I have a cabin in Montana”, he said. “You ever gone fishing?”. “Would it surprise you if I said yes?”, I smiled. “Kind of”, he laughed, and looked down at me.
I stepped away from him, sitting down on the mattress with my back to the wall. He sat down next to me; his arm behind my back, holding me close.
“Tell me about your cabin”, I said.
“It’s of a dirt road in the woods, right by a lake. Not a powerline in sight. No electricity or running water; but it’s got an old-fashioned water pump connected to the sink”. His thoughts seemed far away. “It’s just the one room. Wood stove. Insulated it myself last year”.
“Sounds like heaven” I mused.
“I still freeze my balls of in the winter, if I don’t keep it supplied with wood”, he said.
“Too bad”, I smirked. “They’re nice balls”.
He looked at me, eyebrows raised, stifling a laugh. “Oh yeah?”. He raised his chin a bit, looking down at me. There you are, you cocky bastard, I thought, and grinned at him.
He gave me a squeeze, and I rearranged my legs so they were laid over his.
“Can we go there?”, I asked. His face became determined. “I promise”, he said, and stroked my cheek.
I leant in to him, and our lips met. At first it was soft; sweet. Taking a break to look me in the eyes; Ricks face became hesitant.
“If you want me to stop, say it now; because if we keep going, I won’t be able to…”. I put a finger against his lips.
“Don’t… stop”, I said, put my hand around his neck, and pulled him in again.
Ricks free hand went to my thigh; squeezing it; and pulled me onto his lap; straddling him. I opened my mouth, and our tongues met, gently stroking each other.
As he held on to my waist, I took of my jacket. He quickly unlocked my harness, and threw it into a corner. I kissed his neck, and pushed his jacket down his shoulders; helping him take it of. Running my nails through his hair, I gently tugged at his earlobe with my teeth; coaxing a stifled moan out of him.
He pulled my top over my head, and put his hands on my breasts; squeezing them gently; making me gasp in response. He leant down and placed a kiss on my collarbone.
I tugged at his t-shirt. He pulled it of with a swift move, leaving only my bra as a barrier between our naked torsos. He pulled the straps of it down. “Off…”, he breathed, and what was supposed to be a yes, became a moan falling from my lips, as I reached behind my back, unhooking the unwanted garment.
A hand on my back, and the other on my butt; he swiftly turned us around, so that I was lying on my back under him. He sat on his knees between my legs, looking down at me. Slowly, he pulled the straps of my bra down my arms, leaving my upper body naked, laid out for him to see. I felt a sudden pang of insecurity, and laid an arm over my chest.
“No, please”, he said. “Let me just look at you”.
I smiled, cheeks reddening; in spite of the fact that he’d seen me completely naked once before.
He moved my arm out of the way, and ran his fingers down between my breasts, his expression soft. “You…”, he began, but couldn’t finish his sentence. I smiled.
“You just gonna stare at me all night?”, I asked.
His face darkened; and he was on me. A hand on each breast, he squeezed them together, and kissed me passionately. His left hand squeezed my nipple, making me gasp from the delicious sting of his touch.
His mouth moved down, kissing and nipping the skin on my throat. My vagina was throbbing, heat spreading from it, going into my stomach, and out my legs. Not letting go of my breasts, he licked a trail from between them, all the way down to my bellybutton. I put my hands on his upper back, sliding my fingers from his shoulder blades, up to his neck. His fingers grazed over my nipples, which were erect and responsive.
Pausing a bit over my stomach, his hands moved down my sides, stopping on my hips. He hooked his fingers into my waistband, and looked up at me, waiting for permission. I nodded, biting my lower lip; and he began pulling my leggings down, stopped by the boots I was still wearing. I laughed at his annoyed face, as he roughly pulled of the right boot, and gingerly pulled of the left one, taking care not to hurt my still injured ankle.
He removed my leggings swiftly, and lifted my ankle to his lips. I was no longer wearing the bandages – Harleys treatment had done some good – so he kissed the inside of it, and gently placed it back down on the mattress. His fingers trailed up the outside of my legs, and ended up on my hips again; playing with the sides of my panties.
Ricks pants had grown quite a bit tighter bellow the waistband; and with a smile I sat up, and began to unbuckle his belt. From where I was sitting, my lips had access to his chest, and I kissed my way to his right nipple; taking it into my mouth, gently nibbling it. His hands stroked my back as he grunted in response, and pulling my head back, he leant down, and once again kissed me; our lips weaving in to each other, as if they were created for this one purpose.
Our tongues colliding, he gently pushed me back down on the mattress; and moved back down my body, this time pulling down my panties – laying me bare in front of him. Sending me a wicked smirk, he ran his hands down the back of my thighs, lifting them so that I lay with my legs spread and my knees bent.
My breath hitched, and I closed my eyes.
He started at the top of my mound, kissing it gently, and tugging at the hair there with his fingers. He inhaled my scent. “Mhmm”, he mumbled, and I ran my fingers through his hair; hands shaking in anticipation. His warm breath spread across my folds.
“Rick”, I gasped.
“I’m here”, he answered; and kissed my nub once.
The sensation instantly sent sparks flying all the way through my body, and made me flinch. “It’s ok”, he breathed in to me. His hand found mine, and squeezed it gently.
His shoulders touching the backside of my thighs, I rested my left foot on his back.
He stroked a finger up my taint, between my folds; all the way up to my clit. Removing it, his lips once again met it; this time sucking gently. I had trouble laying still; my body already convulsing, even before I had climaxed. Releasing my hand, he put his arm over my belly, holding me in place.
His tongue took the same path his finger had; before he sucked one of my labia into his mouth, nibbling it; and chuckling at how my legs began to shake involuntarily.
“Lay still, Y/N”, he laughed up at me. “I…”, I gasped. “Just… shut up! More…”. I was panting. He chuckled again, moved his hand from my stomach to my breast; and moved on with the task at hand.
Kissing the area around my vagina, he payed attention to every part of it except the part I need him to concentrate on the most. My nub was throbbing, yearning for his touch.
“Rick!”, I mewled, and tugged at his hair.
I heard him groan, and suddenly he latched on to my clit, sucking; while he inserted two fingers into me, curling them. Gasping, I looked down at him, meeting his brown eyes. His pupils were blown, and he moaned in to me.
His fingers relentlessly coaxed me towards my climax; finding that perfect spot inside me that made my whole body feel on fire.
He suckled deeply at me, then – noticing how my muscles began to tense up – let go. “Now”, he breathed, latched back on to me; and curved his hand into a position that made me feel like we were permanently attached to each other.
I could literally see stars. My whole body convulsed; and my back arched. All the while Rick kept on suckling at me, and using his fingers to draw everything out of me that he could. I held on to the mattress; in a weird way convinced that if I didn’t, I would fall of the face of the planet. Ricks fingers kept bending and stretching, and then bending again; stroking and coaxing.
I squealed breathlessly, shaking. It felt like electricity coming from inside me, moving out my vagina; but in stead of the current knocking me out, it was the one thing keeping me alive.
And – without knowing it – I smiled.
My body gave a final convulsion, as Rick let go of me with his mouth; his fingers still inside of me.
I gasped loudly, laughed, and tried to meet Ricks eyes. His whole face was one big question mark.
“Y/N?”, he said; and looked down at the fingers he could now see, but also could still feel were inside of me. “What?”, I panted, completely out of breath. “You’re, uhm… you’re gone”.
He sat there on his knees, two fingers curved. I could still feel him inside me. I suddenly realized what had happened.
“Oh”, I began. “Oh my god. I’m so sorry. That is…”.
I reappeared, covering my face with my hands. “I can’t believe that just happened”.
“Y/N, no don’t worry about it”, he smiled at me. “It’s fine”. “That has never happened to me before”, I groaned into my hands. “This is so embarrassing”.
He pushed my hands away from my face with his free hand, and stroked my cheek. “Hey, really. It’s fine”, he chuckled. “If anything, I take it as a compliment”.
I gave an embarrassed laugh, and looked down.
“Uhm, Rick?”, I said. “You’re still… uhm…”.
He looked down at his hand, and – realizing where his fingers still were – he flushed pink himself, and gently drew his fingers out of me.
I curled up into a seated position on the mattress, pulling the blanket around me.
“Well that was a party foul”, I said, still embarrassed. Rick put his arm around me, lifted my chin, and kissed me. “Not at all”, he smiled. “You have any idea how goddamn hot it is, that I could make you do that?”, he said, and kissed me again, before whispering into my ear.
“Makes me wonder what other parts of me would look like, in the same position”.
I frowned. “That’s weird”. “It’s kinky”, he gasped, faking indignation. “It’s weird. You’re weird”, I said, and shook my head.
“Fine”, he said, exasperated, and paused for a second. “So… we’re not gonna try to find out?”, he teased with a smirk.
I giggled. “Maybe some other time. It takes up a lot of energy I’d like to use elsewhere right now”, I said, and looked up at him.
His lips parted, and his breath hitched. I merged my fingers behind his neck, drawing him in for a warm kiss; before sliding one hand down his naked chest, and taking a moment to stroke across his abdomen.
He was warm, and he wrapped his arms around me under the blanket, as goosebumps had emerged from the chill of the room.
I moved my hand further down, continuing the task of undoing his pants. Once opened, he pushed them down and off of his legs, along with his boots. He was left in his boxer-briefs, and I cupped his bulge; once again relishing in the memory of how his penis had felt inside me a few nights before. Sliding my hand under his waistband, gripping his length; our kiss deepened, and he pulled his face away from mine to gasp, as I started pumping him slowly.
He leant over me, laying me down again. “I can’t wait anymore”, he breathed, and pulled of his underwear quickly, positioning himself between my legs. With his fingers, he spread my wet folds, and slid into me; our eyes never breaking contact.
We simultaneously moaned. “Still beautiful”, he croaked, and I smiled.
A hand behind my head, his elbow supporting him, to avoid putting all of his weight on me; he lifted my leg, and put it around his torso. He bucked into me forcefully, making me squeak in a very unladylike manner. He smirked at me.
“This is a good look on you”, he said, moving his hips to pump into me slowly. “What?”, I panted. “Fucked senseless?”. “You don’t seem quite senseless yet”, he chuckled, and bucked his hips again; bottoming out.
My eyes rolled back, and I mewled. He continued his slow torture; thrusting slowly – drawing sounds from me I’d never heard coming out of my mouth before. “Ffuu… mhmm… Rick”, I moaned; and put my hands on his bottom, trying to force his delicious feeling member as far into me as possible. “I’m right here, kit… Aahh!”, he groaned, as I scratched my nails down his back. “You’re playing with fire”, he gasped, and dug his fingers into my butt cheek, making it sting with sweet pain.
He suddenly pulled out of me, gathered my legs; and spanked me hard once; then stroked his fingers across my aching folds. Putting both my knees over his shoulders, and holding on to my thighs; he pushed into me again, all the way, with a forceful movement. “Let me know if this is to rough”, he said, and looked at me apologetically.
“Shut up, and get back to work, soldier”, I answered, and smirked.
He raised an eyebrow at me. “That’s colonel to you”, he said; leant over – almost folding me in half – and bottomed out again.
“Sir, yes, Colonel Flag, sir!”, I moaned, almost instantly climaxing around him. The feeling of my walls beginning to clench around him, made him groan. He continued thrusting into me in this position for a while, before getting on his knees, once again holding on to my thighs; so that my butt was lifted from the mattress.
I was mewling in pleasure. I simultaneously felt that I was being lifted into the air, and falling down a deep hole. Down, down, down. Will the fall ever come to an end?. I was delirious.
Rick let go of my thigs, and my legs fell to either side of him. He was panting, straining to hold back. I could see his muscles tensing up, and hear his breathing grow more erratic.
He leant down over me again, continuously thrusting into me. I put my arms around him, one hand in his hair again, holding on to whatever I could to keep our bodies close.
He put a hand on either side of my face, and our lips met again, tongues melding for a few thrusts, before he looked me into the eyes. “Together?”, he panted. I nodded.
With a loud groan he increased his speed; our bodies so close that his pubic bone was stimulating my clit with our movements. I continuously rolled my hips, matching Ricks movements in and out of me.
The stars were returning before my eyes, and I let out a sound, letting Rick know I was close. He moaned in response; and bottomed out one last time; grabbing on to my shoulders, to force himself into me as far as he could.
Our bodies felt like we exploded together. The current I had felt before was back; this time fusing us together in pulses matching our heartbeats. My core spasmed around him. I felt his member twitch inside me, and his body convulsing on top of me.
Then we both melted. He relaxed his muscles, and rolled onto his back, pulling me with him, so that I was laying on his chest; our bodies still conjoined by our still convulsing nether regions.
“You’re gonna be the death of me, woman”, he said hoarsely, and I chuckled in response.
He pulled the blanket over us, and kissed the top of my head. I readjusted my body, and he slid out of me with a silent gasp.
“I’m gonna need a shower after that one”, I smiled. He laughed in response. “I don’t think there are any showers in the building, but”, he said, reaching for his pants on the floor, “I think I have some wet-wipes in my pocket”.
“Be prepared, huh? Such a good boy scout”, I teased. “Yeah, yeah. Laugh away”, he answered, and pulled out a pack of wipes.
While he prepared to clean himself of, I noticed something else having fallen out of his pocket. It was the polaroid that had been in my crate of gear back at Belle Reve. Looking at my smiling face on the picture; where I was standing with a foot on the seat of a folding chair, holding on to the back rest; and the other leg raised in the air above me – I bit my lip and blushed.
“You kept this?”, I asked quietly.
His face reddened. “Yeah. I couldn’t let them burn it”. I kissed him softly in response.
We fell asleep in each others arms. The last thing I heard was the sound of a helicopter flying across the night sky outside the window.

Javier Pena X Son! Male Reader
-
|| Masterlist ||
-
ANOTHER CROSSOVER BITCHES!!!! I really enjoyed the Mitch Rapp and Javier Pena one so why not make another but with stiles stilinski instead?! And YES it’ll be supernatural to be prepared!!
Summary: Reader is javiers son and the two of them move to California in a small town called beacon hills where Javier works their as a deputy and reader meets a lot of new people. The two aren’t only new to beacon hills, they are secretly hunters as well.
Warnings: Supernatural, Javier being a sassy bitch and a hot dad, reader is his son, stiles is still working as an FBI agent, fluff, language, werewolves, hunters, crossover between teen wolf, supernatural, and Narcos because FUCK IT!
—
—
“Again.”
He grunts in frustration as he takes out his gun and reloads it, holding it up he begins to shot down the cans that his father had set up for him. The two were deep in the woods of beacon hills, practicing on their shooting.
“Otra vez.” Again
“Can I at least take a break?” He grumbled out, lowering down the gun to his hip. Giving his father a look as he sighs, rubbing his face. “Fine, but only a short one.”
With that the young adult smiles and walks over to his bag, bending down to take out a water bottle and some snacks that he packed for hismelf.
Javier Pena and Y/n Pena were both hunters of the supernatural. They have moved from Colombia to California after Javier finished his time at the DEA, only helping since the most wanted man was a jinn, making people’s ‘wishes’ come true without them noticing. He was the only one who knew what he was and he made sure to keep a secret until they got him, so of course he has to kill him without getting noticed, sort of made it look like an accident.
He became a hunter at a young age and never really got the hang of it until he worked for the DEA after that he ends up taking in Y/n, a street boy that he met during one of his chases. Damn kid helped out a lot more than anyone else on his team. He remembers rounding the corner only to see a young kid holding ‘his’ target down, pinning him onto the ground as he held a blade to the mans neck. Javier was very impressed that he ends up adopting the kid, making him a future hunter and teaching him about the supernatural.
“You need to practice your aim, your a shitty shot.” Said Javier as he sits next to him, stealing his snack as y/n pouts and glares. “I know im a shit shot but I’m better with blades.”
“A blade won’t stop a werewolf.”
“It’ll Slow then down if you aim correctly.”
Y/n smiles big at him as Javier chuckles and ruffles his hair, earning a laugh from the other. The two have been living in beacon hills for almost two months now, it was a very small town that everyone knew each other. It was easy for them to work with, making a list of everyone who lived here as they kept record of the people.
This place was known for its supernatural which was another reason why they came here. They weren’t hunters who killed for fun and pleasure, no, they killed those who need to be killed. They’ve once stumbled upon a group of witches who were helping people, giving them no reason to hurt them and in return they became allies.
Y/n kept record of every supernatural being and creature in a notebook, sketching out their forms and writing down notes in case he needed them in the future. Javier wasn’t so smart and tried to remember everything until one day they almost got killed by some ghouls.
“Why are we here again?” He suddenly asks, taking back his bag of snacks and putting them inside his bag. Javier rolls his eyes and sighs, “I got a call from an old friend saying that he heard about some crazy stuff going on down here.”
“Like?”
“Sacrifices.”
Y/n shudders. “You sure it isn’t a cult?” He rasies a brow. “I mean it could be a cult but also other things such as; Minotaur, Fenrir, druids—“ he holds out his fingers and shrugs with a sigh. “It could be anything really.”
Javier shakes his head, the kid knew too much about the supernatural that he feels like he’s the one being taught. “Like you said,” he leans his back against the tree. “It could be anything.” The two are silent as they watch the sunset, it was getting late and they’ll have to return back home soon. Apparently it isn’t safe before or after midnight so everyone had to be indoors during the night time but since the two hunters weren’t afraid of anything they didn’t seem to care.
As y/n picks up the empty cans and piles them up in a corner he hears Javi moving around behind him, flipping through y/n’s journal as he reads more about the different creatures that they have Encountered. “I heard that there’s a true alpha in this town.” He blurts out, getting y/n’s attention.
“A werewolf? But a true alpha, those are rare arent they?” He approaches Javier and snatches the book away from him. “Don’t tell me you want to kill one.” He deadpans.
“No, you crazy?” Javier glared at him, bending down to pick up the backpack. “What In sating is that we can get his help, if he’s the alpha of beacon hills than maybe he can help us find our guy. We can talk things out and see what we can get.” He explains, walking through the woods as y/n follows close behind him.
“But how would we approach one without causing trouble? Let alone get ourselves killed.” He tucks the book away in the bag, causing Javier to slow down with a roll of his eyes. “This is a small town and we can approach one easily without causing chaos.”
“Is that a promise?”
“I don’t do promises I can’t keep.” Javier grumbled out as y/n laughs at him.
—
“A new family has moved into beacon hills.”
“Wow, who thought it was a good idea to move here? I mean this place is a dump.”
“Stiles—“
“Alright, alright, sorry.”
The McCall pack was having a meeting, latelty they have stumbled upon some crime scenes that Involved human sacrifices. At first they thought it was the Nemeton again but this was different. After they found out that these human sacrifices weren’t just for eating but for sport as well.
It disgusted them to know that many innocent people were being killed for fun, they were losing lives and people of beacon hills are growing even more worried.
They had everything handled until a new family moved into beacon hills and for such a small town they immediately knew who they were and what they were doing here.
They heard that the family would only be staying for awhile and how they have just moved from Colombia, what a worst time to be moving to beacon hills.
“You think these new people are the ones behind it?” Asked Derek as he leans back in the wall with arms crossed. “I mean it’s oblivious, they move here not to long ago and then two days later another body shows up, I mean we know everyone in beacon hills who is supernatural and not but this family is new. We have to know who they are.” Said Scott, he was determined to know.
“Okay first of all, calm down.” Said Stiles, cutting his best friend off as he held up his hands. “Scottie these people just moved here and we can’t blame them for the bodies that are randomly showing up.”
“He’s right.” Said Derek.
“Thank you.” Stiles nods at Derek before turning back to face Scott. “Let’s investigate them first and see what they are like I mean—I may or may not have broken into the record room back at work but I did do my research and got some information about them.”
“Isn’t it illegal to do that?” Liam asks, sitting by the stairs.
“Not when your working with the law.” Stiles said back, pulling out a file of information about these two newcomers. He opens the folder and sets out two pictures. “This is Javier Pena and Y/n Pena, they are both father an son—not by blood but still family.” Stiles began to explain as he spreads out more pictures.
“Like you said, they have just moved from Colombia and as it turns out, this guy worked for the DEA.” He points to a picture of Javier sitting at a bar and drinking a beer.
The pack approach the table as they take a look at the pictures and information. Stiles, working for the FBI, was able to get all of this information with a snap of his fingers. He was smart and knew what to do when it came to situations like these. He knew that Scott was the kind of person to get straight to the point but stiles always wanted evidence before doing anything rash.
“Oh he’s cute.” Said Lydia as he held a picture up of Javier.
Stiles frowns, reaching over to snatch the picture from her. “All we know he can be dangerous.”
“That’s never stopped me.” She grins, earning an eye roll from him.
“Anyways, I was able to get enough information about them, that they don’t show any signs of danger really. Their just regular people.” He shrugs, rubbing the back of neck as he looks at his work one last time.
He noticed Derek reach out to pick up a picture of y/n. In the picture he was sitting at the park back in Colombia and writing in a notebook, he brings the picture closer and noticed a sketch of a strange creature on it. “Stiles did his research and found nothing dangerous about these two,” said Derek as he pulls out his phone. “But you haven’t done all your work.” He begins to dial a number.
—
“Yeah we know them, we worked with them once their also hunters—did you talk to them or something? Because I’m going to be honest they aren’t really the friendliest. I mean they just come back from Colombia and they have been through some shit.”
“Wait you know them?!”
The pack we’re talking to the Winchester’s, a pair of brothers that they met a long time ago and have helped each other. The boys too weren’t the friendliest and have attacked them at first sight but once they settled things down they were able to talk it out and become allies.
“Are we not going to state the fact that they are hunters?” Again, stiles continued to Interrupt the phone call that lies on the table with speaker phone on. Everyone ignores him as they speak to Sam. “Wait, so their trust worthy?” Asked Scott as he waits for the other to respond.
“Yes, they are but try not to do anything that’ll get them to hurt you.” Said Sam as he arranged some books on the other side of the call. “They can get pretty dangerous.”
“They are badass too, so don’t mess with them.” Said Dean as he stands next to Sam, listening in onto the phone call as he grins, Sam can only roll his eyes but agree. “He’s not wrong.”
“Okay, will approach carefully and not do anything to alarm them.” Said Scott as the brothers on the other line hum in agreement. “Thanks guys.” He hangs up the phone and hands it back to Derek.
“So, who wants to approach some hunters?” He gives off a nervous smile as the others avert eye contact.

<3 *Arthur imagines his first date <3
* Lost diary pages*
Arthur writes about how he imagines his first date to be, rips the pages out of his diary and sends a message in a bottle :-)
Some cute fluff for you all :-)
It`s a cold evening in Gotham city. Its feels like the dead of summer. You walk though the park, kicking the fallen leafes beneath your cold feet. It has been a long day. A long month, year. Life even. You feel tired, trying to understand why you are even here in this city full of ignorant people. If only you had someone on your side that understands how lonely the world can be, when you`re inside of your own mind all the time.
You moved here years ago and still haven`t found someone to talk to. You think about leaving this place if nothing changes. You`re looking for a sign. Something that keeps you going.
There is a little kitten by the river. "Hey there little friend, feelin lonely, too?" it meows and runs away. And just as you want to turn your back, you see something in the water. A bottle. But there is something in it.
"A message in a bottle" you whisper to yourself as you pick it up. It looks like has been there for some months. But its easy to open. You sit down at a bench, starting to read:
"Today I sat there on a park bench in Gotham city, after I got out of the pharmacy. The sky was getting dark, you could tell that its going to rain soon. But I didnt wanted to go back to my dark apartment, so I just sat there, watching people. Made some observations. I need it to write in here. I need it for more jokes.
But what I noticed today wasnt a joke. It was love. And love is a very serious subject to me. I take human connection very seriously. Because I never experienced it. And I really want to. Some days it really hurts me inside, when I see couples laughing together. LAUGHING TOGETHER. What sounds so simple, SEEMS so simple to others is out of my reach. Laughing is something that I really dont know nothing about. Though I laugh so often. Because I have to. Because it won`t leave me alone to cry. I laugh but the truth is I don`t. I can`t remember a time it was a real, heartfelt laugh. I don`t even know how to do it. Sometimes I try to fake it. When I`m at Pogos or with the guys from Haha`s. But I can tell from the way they look at me that they know there is something wrong with me. Maybe I should stop trying to fit in. I try to fit in all the time. Every day... but it doesnt seem to work. Except when there are kids around. Thats why I love them. Kids seem to SEE me.
And then...the other word TOGETHER. There has to be more than one person to create a together. And I am always alone. I don`t know why. Its not like I didnt try to make friends. I really did. But they don`t feel comfortable around me. Even Hoyt told me so. I don`t know why everyone is so rude. I only want to make people happy. I really do. But thereis no "laughing together" for me. Only crying alone.
So, I was sitting there on the bank and there was this couple. She was looking at him, laughing. I bet he told her a really good joke. And she looked at him in a way no one ever looked at me and they kissed. Holding on to one another.
I always imagined how it would feel like being kissed. The moment right before your lips are touching must be the most beautiful feeling in the world. I imagin it to be very exciting to have someone elses lips pressed against yours. To circle your tongue around another and to taste the other person entierly. I dream about kissing the girl next door a lot. Her name is Sophie and she is beautiful. I bet she is a really good kisser. Her lips look so soft. I wish I could just knock on her door, take her face between my hands and kiss her passionately. But the truth is I barely dare to look her in the eyes when we meet at the hallway.
But yeah. this couple on the streets really made me think about what it would be like to have someone to love.To make love to someone.
I consider myself a romantic. And I played this like a thousands of times in my head. I`m 35 now and I guess it will never happen. But I like to dream about it. Who knows, maybe someday someone will SEE me the way I am. Maybe some day a nice girl will laugh at my jokes and take me in her arms. I would love to dress up in some decent clothes for her. I usually wear my old, faded jacket and my blue pants. The ones that look too baggy on me. But actually I like to dress nicely. Especially for special occasions. It just barely happens.I would put on some cologne. Not the one I use when I go to Pogos, I would buy a new one, because my mother uses the same bottle and that`s a bit strange, right? I would definitaly buy a new one I think the girl would like. I just found one I loved but it was too expensive and I couldnt afford it. Whatever, no one would have noticed the new cologne on me anyway.
And on our big date...I would do something with my hair. Maybe I would wear it slick back. I noticed that people like that a lot. I would like to go to the theatres with her. Oh that would be nice. Watching some comedy together. She would teach me what a real laugh feels and sounds like. I bet she could do that. And I wouldnt have to act strangely around her anymore, because the laugh would come NATURALLY. So she could feel comfortable around me,too.
Thats my biggest fear, that the girl wouldnt feel comfortable around me. I would try my best to make her feel LOVED. After our date I would walk down the streets with her, holding hands. I always loved the idea of hoding hands. Its like a little commitment. You are mine. I really love the time we spent together. Thats what it says. At least I think so.
I would take her home with me. It would be a little bit embarrassing to show her the apartment but ...anyway... MUSIC!
Music is really important when it comes to the perfect date. Its like the heart of everything. I would put on some nice, music. I have LOTS of really great records and I´m a good dancer, so this wouldnt be a problem. Maybe some Sinatra. And...I imagin asking her to dance with me, offering her my hand and she would smile and we start dancing through the living room...Oh I would light up some candles before that. The apartment is quiet dark so we could need a bit of light. And candle light is always a good idea. Girls appriciate it and it makes me feel comfortable, too.
I would try to get closer to her while dancing. It would be the perfect moment for my first kiss. I could even pick a song for my first kiss, when I think about it now. This could be planned out so perfectly.
Thats why I always play it in my head over and over again... If it happenes some day, I`m prepared. And I have to be prepared because I`m a virgin.
I just hope she wouldnt notice that I never kissed someone before. That would be the most embarrassing thing. I know I can be SHY.
Not even to mention other things like having sex.
I dream about this A LOT. I keep pictures in here. Of girls I think are attractive and other stuff. I like to draw a lot. But thats all nothing compared to what a real girlfriend would feel like to have in my arms.
I imagin sex to be not just a way to satisfy your own desires. I imagin it to be something that really connects you to the other person and to life itself. I always feel depressed after touching myself. I guess this would be different with having someone in your arms afterwards, too. I try to imagin the sensation of two bodies melting into one another. To be SEEN and to be FELT by another person. I think its impossible to UNSEE the person that you have sex with. My future girlfriend will look me in the eyes and I hope she will be able to realize my true self. That I`m a good guy. And she will tell me so. She would feel me with all her senses. Calling out my name between the kisses, begging me to sleep with her. Begging me to fullfill all her desires. And I would. God yes, I would make all her desires come true. Try the best to please her. I think I could be a great boyfriend.
I would buy my girlfriend flowers, too. I love flowers. I love how soft to the touch they are and the fact that they smell so nice. Like girl`s shampoo. I would love to pick flowers and out them into her hair. I can imagin her happy face. A real laugh. Not like mine.
I`d love to have someone to cuddle with at night. Not only my pillows. It must be wonderful to feel the warth of another body on your own. The weight of someone elses body on yours. I just want the emptyness to go away. This constant feeling of emtyness, meaniglessness. I just don`t wanna feel so bad anymore.
Having someone to kiss my bruised back. To take care of my wounds when I got beaten up again. That would be wonderful.
I need to talk to someone about the thoughts inside of my head. All these thoughts. They`re enemys sometimes. I try to get them out of me by writing this journal, but this isnt enough. I need someone to really listen to me and I guess my future girlfriend could do that. Just listen, putting her arms around me, when I feel lost. That would be enough to make me feel better. I long for human contact so much. But no one cares.
My daydreams are the only thing I have left. Some days they feel so real, they become hallucinations. Dr Kane thinks I am delusional. But I know that these hallucinations arent real. I KNOW THAT I AM ALONE.
These dreams...are just for the moment. I make them real for a minute, maybe an hour or longer. But as soon as the daydream is done, I know that my mind just made it up. What difference does it make if Dr Kane belives me or not? She doesnt care about me anyway. No one does.
Dr Kane thinks that love won`t heal me. That I am way too damaged to be healed. Thats what she said. What a rude bitch. I know I can be healed by love. I just feel it in my guts. I just want a family. Is this too much to ask for? I get that its too late to have a father but is it too late to find a girl who loves me for who I am?
Maybe it is. Maybe not.
If there is a 50/50 chance...I`ll take it !
50/50 is more than most people get in life.
I think I´m gonna rip those pages out of this journal and put them into a bottle.
I watched a movie a while ago and this guy put a letter with his adress into a bottle and thew it into the river. Years later this girl found it and wrote him a note.
I loved this idea of the constant hope that your letter will be noticed some day.
That I will be noticed someday.
Yeah... I will do it right now.
So if you read this and you think that my writing made any sense...
Here is my adress

Monty x Winston part 9
"Lets go home now. The weathers going crazy- well fitted for our mood at the moment.
Scott said, opening his umbrella.
They walked down the street, silence following them.
"You know..." Scott said, glancing a look at him.
"No wonder he was so into you and wanted you near him."
"What do you mean?"
"Well- you're well spoken, friendly... very loyal, dont joke around when its serious. You're handsome.
Winston raised an eyebrow.
"Are you trying to hit me up?"
"What?" Scott said, laughing.
"No. I'm not into guys" he said, whispering a silent "at least I think so?"
"I was just stating a fact. Monty was totally into feminin, soft boys I guess- now thinking of it... I think he had a small crush on Alex, was into Bryce too, though he wasnt feminin guy obviously but he was the first one who "cared" about him, maybe a crush too. And he was interested in Tyler. Not crush like, but in a different way. Maybe because of his photography skills.
Winston stopped his steps, looked back at him.
"Oh...." Scott said awkwardly.
"I'm so fucking sorry- shit. I just couldnt shut up." He sighed.
"Its fine. Really. You're pretty good at observing. How long did you were aware of him and his interests?"
Scott stared at the pavement for some seconds.
"... Since I transferred to Liberty. I got to know him beforehand for some brief moments but after the transfer even more. And with his stupid insults and jokes he basically confirmed it without confirming it out loud."
"How'd you know him before?"
"Through a friend."
"A friend?"
"Ya. This friend was a really good friend of Clay and played in our baseball team. Anyway... Monty beat you up right?"
"Hmh."
"Why'd you forgive him?"
"I dealt with many people like him in my life. I'm used to it. I forgave him because I knew what was going on as soon as he started it all. Thats also why I denied knowing him. I'm open about my interests- some people still make fun of it - but realised that he wasnt, and not ready yet. I didnt want him to run into a blank knife."
"You're such a good guy- wished he would've meet you before..."
"Sadly I was to late."
"Maybe...."
They walked towards the crossroad.
"Guess we have to take serapate ways here."
Winston said.
"Right. Call me if you need something." Scott said, taking the way left.
"See you."
Winston still held his umbrella in his hands.
Guess he had to give it him back tomorrow.
________
Next day, Sunday: 9am.
Winston woke up with a bad headache. His parents were away again- so he was all alone at home. It reminded him at the time Monty visited him.
He should prepare himself for the police station.
He couldnt give up right now because of some annoying sickness. He needed to do it- for Monty.
Looking at the clock it was still to early. Their appointment was around 1:30pm. He sighed and closed his eyes again. Decided to stay in bed until 11pm. Maybe hes body would be better at that point. Maybe hes just going crazy after these two days and the other 2.
"Yeah. That must be it." He whispered to himself and fell back to sleep again.
When he woke up it was shortly around after 11pm. Time to get dressed. His body still was doing some crazy shit but Winston decided to ignore it for today, grabbing some plain clothes- after that, his car keys.
He arrived in town at 12pm, still some tome until they'll talk about the evidence a 2nd and hopefully last time.
Winston was tired and his forehead glowing. To much stress.
He parked his car at a parking lot near the station, spotting Scott already standing in front of it- looking a bit distressed and like he was there for some time already.
Winston stopped the engine and stepped out of the car, walking fast towards him.
"Already there?" He said, putting away his car keys.
"I could say the same about you, Winston."
"How long are you here already?"
"Ah just... some minutes."
Winston nooded, feeling that something was bothering him.
"Whats wrong?"
"Nothing- why'd you ask?"
"Not to be the creep this time but I could see you through my car window and you seemed pretty zoned-out. You dont look so good."
"Same goes for you dont you think? With this dark hair and this almost white skin at the moment you look like someone whos dead."
"Just had a rough night."
"Guess we share a lot. I kept remembering something after our talk."
Winston slightly tiled his head.
"Whats it about?"
"Nothing very important- about a friend."
"The friend so introduced you to Monty?"
"You could say that yes." he looked at his watch. "Lets grab a coffee- we still have some time left, maybe we can talk how to convince this cop to believe us. Even though he lets us care for his funeral it doesnt sound like hes believing us- sadly."
"Even with the evidence?"
"Even with that."
They were about to walk to the cafe as they saw Clay and his friends walking in their direction.
"Shit. They gonna see us together" Scott said, worried.
"They told each other about what you did- I told you. I dont wanna hear them saying shit."
"If they see us- and they will- we just tell half of the truth. Try acting like you arent involved."
He nooded at Winstons words.
Clay raised his hands to wave at Scott bit stopped after seeing who was with him. His smiled faded, like the smiles on the other faces.
"What are you doing here? With Winston?"
"We just met by accident."
That wasnt the truth- not even half of it.
Alex looked back and forth between Scott and Winston.
"Why are you with him? After all he did?"
"I dont know what you're talking about? If you mean the paybacks and visits- non of my business. I'm not even on of your friends so I can do what ever I like."
"Are you working with him?"
"No. Working with him about what? Why do you care? You dont like me."
"If you're working with him I would have another good reason to not liking you."
Winston sighed.
"I didnt want to cause any trouble with my visits. If I intimidated anyone of you- I'm sorry."
"Yeah? Are you really sorry? Then why did you gave Charlie something like this?"
Winston stared at Alex for some seconds.
"Not your place to know. He should know by now."
"Liar"
Scott scoffed.
"Yeah? A liar like you?"
Alex breathed out heavily, ready to beat a bitch.
"Now now" Zach interfered, holding back Alex. "Lets just cut it right here." He grabbed his arm and pulled him away.
"Sorry." Justin sighed. "Hes in a pretty bad mood lately."
Winston smiled softly.
"Its all right- we all are stressed."
They said their goodbyes and entered the cafe where they ordered their coffee.
"Scott?"
He turned around as he heard his name, spoken out by a familiar voice.
And there she stood.
Sheri Holland.
"Wasnt expecting to see you around here? When did we last saw each other? 8 month ago? Before you left school to take a break?"
He just nooded.
"Whats wrong? Saw a ghost?"
"No... I just wasnt expecting seeing you here too- after all, Monets y'all favorite spot."
"You know... was getting tired of this place after last year. To many bad memories."
"Right..."
"Soo... see you're having a date? With a guy?"
Scott blinked in confusion and Sheri laughed.
"That was a joke." She poked his shoulder.
"Anyway- now you're here... can I talk to you? Dont know if you want to involve your friend in it"
"Whats it about?"
"School. Bryce. Tyler. Monty."
"Oh... its ok. He knows anyway. Hes kinda involed in it to."
"He is? Why?"
"To much to tell you now- we should talk about it sometime else. We're kinda in a hurry, have to leave at 1:15pm."
"So whats your name?" She turned her gaze to Winston.
"Winston."
"Mine's Sheri. We know each other from school. We hadnt the best time back there then. How do you know Scott?"
"Through the whole Bryce murder case." Winston said. Quickly, not to spill more informations.
Sheri sighed as they sat down at a table.
"Pretty fucked up about Bryce death. And what happened to Tyler. And to Monty. I knew he was messed up in the head- but first to assault someone... and then to kill Bryce- allegedly. That wasnt expected at all. Sad that he died in prison. I mean... no one deserves to die in such a place, not in this circumstances."
Scott glanced over to Winston who looked a bit to serious, then looked back to her.
"Do you believe he killed Bryce? I mean ignore the "evidence"."
"If I have to be real- no. I dont think he did it but got framed. You know how easy it is to frame a dead guy. They cant defemd themselve."
"Why do you think someone framed him?" Winston said, with a dark tone in it.
"I really dont know. But Monty saw Bryce as a friend, was loyal to him. I dont see someone like him killing Bryce. Monty was cruel- but not like this."
"Right." Hearing someone else to agree made Winston very ... happy.
"He was a broken soul. He needed help. And nobody saw it. The last time I saw him was at the homecoming game. He had something in his eyes that made him look like he... changed? I dont know."
Winston knew it was because of him, he then whispered a "He indeed was a broken soul. He was sad and lonely." but Sheri heard it anyway.
"How come you know Monty?"
"Thats a secret."
"A secret- must be something very serious?"
He nooded.
"You know what he did to Tyler right?"
He nooded a second time.
"But he was about to pay for it. There was no need for him to die or get framed."
Sheri had a soft smile on her face.
"I remember seeing you on the field at the homecoming game. You took photos- of Monty."
Winston looked away.
"Guess we all three lost someone who meant much to us."
Winston glanced a look at Scott who was sitting next to him in silence- looking straight at his coffee to go.
"Hey Scott?"
He got dragged out of his stare by Sheris voice.
"You have time to visit Jeff in the next days?"
His grab around the coffee cup tightened.
"Maybe." He stood up and grabbed Winstons arm.
"We should go now."

Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down) Pt. 5
A Kwon Jiyong x Reader AU series featuring Kim Jiwon and Choi Seunghyun
Genre: Crime/Mafia/ANGST
Warnings: Swearing/Violence
Word count: 4,000+ (There’s A LOT going on here....)
Summary: You joined the police force years ago to help clean up the streets of Seoul and rid the city of organized crime. You’ve seen some shit. You’re surely prepared for anything…but how are you supposed to feel when the big bad crime boss you’ve been after turns out to be a familiar (to say the least) face?
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4
The police force prepares you to handle and respond to just about anything; to be a master of balancing action/reaction in any scenario under limitless amounts of pressure. When you wear that badge, you should be ready to tackle whatever is thrown at you no matter what. In the four years you’d held your position, you’ve proven your capabilities through and through.
But the look on Jiwon’s face rendered you almost catatonic.
It was the look a child gives to a parent upon catching them stuffing their face with cookies that the child had left out for Santa Claus. It placed a massive weight on your chest that you would have done anything and gone anywhere to remove. You just sat there staring back at him, knowing it was impossible to take back the last three minutes. Your silence was enough of an answer for him.
His face left yours for no more than a second to recall the mixed company. There was an undeniable shift in the room’s tension as he offered Chief Kim a polite nod. “I apologize. Don’t let me interrupt.” His expression had softened. But it was a smile of his that you knew all too well. You knew exactly what he was thinking when he heard that name, and it ridded your heart with a massive amount of guilt to see him smile through it.
“Jiwon…” You began.
“Here.” He offered the paper bag out to you. “I got you breakfast from the food court. Let me know if you don’t like it and I’ll get you something else.” You couldn’t bring yourself to play along and respond.
The forced smile remained on his face as he bowed to Chief Kim before exiting the room once again. You continued to stare at the door, speechless, until your superior cleared his throat, returning to his own unanswered question.
You squeezed your eyes shut before looking back to him. “I’m sorry about that.” You muttered. “I know that it wasn’t on record anywhere in the basement. That’s because I saw him face to face…he was there when I was hurt…he gave the man the orders.” Your gaze fell to your right leg as you said those words.
Chief Kim shifted in his seat. “This is the first I’m hearing about this.”
“I know.” You paused, still unable to maintain eye contact as your heart and brain continued to wage their war against one another. “But it’s true.”
“You…know him?” He stated it as a fact more so than an actual question.
He sighed at your lack of response. “Y/N. I know I don’t need to remind you of the protocol that comes into play here. Personal connections to a case like this…it shouldn’t be allowed.” Your eyes shot up to meet his before he continued. “I don’t want to remove you from your position in this. Your qualifications and passion exceed damn near everyone, and you are a fantastic detective.” His stern look bore into you. “But I will not hesitate to shut this whole thing down.”
You shook your head. “No. No, Chief, I assure you I can do this. I’m just still shook up from what happened… I will get over it. I promise you.”
The look on his face oozed skepticism. You took a deep breath. “Yes I knew him… Once. That was a long time ago…Clearly, he is a different person.”
He took a minute to silently mull over your words before nodding his head. “All right…I do want to see where you take this case. I know what you are capable of, Y/N.” He paused for emphasis. “But the second I see this becoming an issue, I am putting an end to it. That goes for Seunghyun too. Do you understand?”
You returned a firm nod with zero hesitation.
Speaking to your superior helped reignite your desire to succeed. You silently reminded yourself to shake every ounce of emotion off and maintain your professional demeanor. At least on the surface. Despite how desperately you may wish otherwise, you know that you can’t change the past. You had a job to do and there was no time to waste on your feelings.
After all, you now had someone else’s to worry about.
The amount of anxiety that stayed bundled in your chest when Jiwon reentered the room was ungodly. The room was absolutely silent aside from your IV pump’s beeping and the sound his shoes made as they scuffed against the linoleum flooring. Once he took his place in the metal folding chair beside your bed, he grabbed your left hand and held it without a word. He didn’t even look at you. You watched him intently, feeling sweat slowly begin to bead at your hairline. The weight on your chest felt heavier and heavier as the minutes passed by.
He might as well have been screaming at you. Anything but this…aren’t YOU the one that got shot? What the hell do you have to feel guilty about right now? You had all intentions of telling him. You were going to…eventually.
“Aren’t you hungry?”
He uttered the words monotonously as he stared down at your fingers. It wasn’t what you’d wanted to hear but it was something. You sighed and nudged the untouched paper bag full of food.
“Yeah. I’ll eat some in a minute.” You offered a small smile despite the fact that he still hadn’t looked at you. He nodded his head slightly before silence fell on the room once again, putting a fast end to his attempt at a normal conversation.
The truth was, Jiwon never actually met Jiyong. Ever. There was a lot about you and Jiyong that he never even knew. Whether it was due to pent up insecurities, or jealousy…he knew enough to start countless fights. Even though you never really believed you did anything wrong or gave him any real reason to be mad at you, you apologized again and again, until it was all brought to an end years ago. It was Jiwon’s decision that Jiyong’s name was never to be spoken between the two of you ever again. Today, of course, had broken all of that.
Beep…Beep…Beep…
He brought his left hand up to his lips, which he kissed before gently lowering it to your right knee. His thumb slowly moved back and forth. You felt yourself relax slightly at the affectionate gesture, holding onto the hope that that subject had actually been left in the past, for good. His eyes lingered on your right leg protectively.
“So…that’s what he’s been doing all these years.”
Your warm expression fell. You should have known better.
Your responding silence made him look up at you and hold your hand a little tighter. “I’m sorry. I’m not trying to get us into this again… We finished that conversation a long time ago.” He forced a small grin that you did your best to match. Three years ago actually, but who’s counting?
“I just can’t believe this.” He let out a sigh and shook his head, bringing his eyes back to your leg. “That son of a bitch…”
Discomfort began to fill your chest again as you readjusted your hand in his. You didn’t know how he expected you to reply to any of this. Your mind had been filled with so much confusion; you were proud of yourself for even remembering how to blink. He muttered something to himself, but the room’s dead silence made it impossible for you to not hear him.
“He’ll get his soon...”
Your eyes widened reflexively. Without taking another second to think up an actual response, your face contorted into a wince. “Aish.”
Jiwon removed his left hand from its position with raised eyebrows. “Are you o-?”
You cut him off. “Will you get the nurse? I…I think this pain medication has worn off.”
One week later
“And so, ya know, that’s why I wanted to meet with you in person today. I wanted to be sure you heard it from me first.” Dongjoo folded his hands together. The young man said the words with enthusiasm but his eyes never stopped shifting anxiously between the two men seated across from him.
Jiyong said nothing. He merely tilted his head to the side and narrowed his eyes, as if trying to convince himself that this really was the same man he’s known for years. The same man who, in the beginning, had appeared on his hands and knees quivering before Jiyong and begged like a dog for “just one more day.” Who had gladly “organized” thousands and thousands of dollars into his little tobacco shop at the drop of a hat, because he feared the name, G Dragon. Who’d answered any and every cop or government worker that grew the least bit suspicious, reading all his lines without missing a cue. There’s no way this was the same man who had just so confidently informed Jiyong that he’s decided to move his business to America, and would no longer require his men to “look after” him and his store.
After entertaining the thought for a minute, Jiyong raised his eyebrows in amusement and returned his gaze to the grill. Dongjoo’s smile faltered slightly. His eyes darted back to Jiyong’s partner, silently begging him to say something. Taehee offered no assistance, only staring back at the man with the same mute expression he’d been sporting all night. A small smile found its way to Jiyong’s face as he grabbed a set of tongs to rotate the beef. The loud sizzle it made helped to disguise the audible gulp from his, now former, business associate.
Jiyong continued to stare at the meat with watchful eyes as he brought his elbow to rest on the table, allowing the hand holding the tongs to support his chin. Dongjoo watched him closely, feeling the nervous sweat begin to bead at his forehead. A chill ran down his spine as Jiyong blinked before locking eyes with him once again; that same smile painted across his face.
“Well, that’s too bad.” Jiyong finally said, casually. “I’ve got to say, I’m a little disappointed.” He pointed the tongs at Dongjoo in a playful manner. “America doesn’t deserve your good business.”
Dongjoo burst out in an exaggerated laugh, making it clear he’d been holding his breath. “Oh come on now.”
“No, no, honestly.” Jiyong raised his eyebrows and nodded his head. “You come on; no one runs a tobacco shop over there like you do. No question.”
Dongjoo shrugged his shoulders and laughed again, visibly relaxing. “You’re making me blush. Enough, enough.”
“I think that’s ready.” Taehee interrupted and nodded to the beef.
“Oh here let me cut it.” Dongjoo began to reach for the scissors beside the grill, before Jiyong beat him to it.
“Oh no, please, allow me.” He grabbed the tool with his free hand. “This calls for a celebration. The least I can do is serve you some quality barbecue.” He grabbed the beef with the tongs and carefully eyeballed where to slice it.
“America…now that’s exciting.” He said with his eyes on the grill, lining up the scissors into position. “How’s the Mrs. feel about that?” Slice.
Dongjoo flinched at the sound, while furrowing his eyebrows at the unexpected personal question. “Oh uh.” Slice. “She’s ready for the change I think.” Slice. He laughed lightly.
“You think?” Slice. “Oh, you better know. Don’t want any issues being caused in the marriage because of this. Moving to another country is no small step.” Slice. “What about your daughter?”
Dongjoo laughed nervously once again. Slice. “She’s, uh, she’s excited.” Slice. “She’s only five so, you know, she doesn’t really have much of an opinion.” Slice. He reached up to scratch the back of his head uncomfortably. They’d never discussed his family before.
Jiyong smiled wider. “Ah, kids.” Slice. “They just go with whatever you say.” He looked up at Dongjoo and served him a few strips of beef. “They trust you.”
Dongjoo did an awful job at disguising his discomfort. He hesitated in bowing his head to accept the serving, and quickly averted his eyes to his plate. But Jiyong wasn’t done.
“When do you leave?”
Dongjoo looked up with his chopsticks still in his mouth, having just taken his first bite. “Huh?”
Jiyong was placing a few strips of beef on Taehee’s plate; he looked up to make brief eye contact with his partner before turning back to the nervous gentleman across from him. “I said when do you leave? For America?”
“Oh, ha…ha, in about a month.”
Jiyong raised his eyebrows in surprise. “Oh, well why don’t we just ride this thing out for another month then?” He asked before taking a bite of his own serving. His eyes didn’t leave Dongjoo, who began to shift in his seat as he stared back down at his plate.
“I don’t, uh…you know, with moving and everything that goes into it, I won’t be really doing much business and just-.”
Jiyong cut off his word vomit with a laugh, waving his hand with a full mouth. “I’m fucking with you. Do what you gotta do.”
“Oh.” Dongjoo chuckled out of relief once again. “Thank you. I-… I appreciate that.”
The rest of the dinner didn’t get any more comfortable than that. Jiyong continued to eyeball Dongjoo, who continuously blotted the sweat on his forehead, which he insisted was due to his angle from the grill. Taehee continued to stare blankly between the two of them, only mildly confused, until they all got up to leave. Jiyong held the door open, and as Taehee passed, he grabbed him by the shoulder and muttered something under his breath. Taehee looked at his boss for just a moment, before nodding and walking outside.
Dongjoo walked a little too eagerly in the direction of his car, parked on the opposite side of the building. As he began to walk through the narrow alleyway to get there, he turned to bid a quick goodbye to the two men. “Thank you for everything, gentlemen. I wish you nothing but the best.” He made a hasty bow, which Jiyong and Taehee returned, before turning on his heels.
Just as he’d taken a single step towards the safety of his vehicle, he heard Jiyong’s voice once again. But this time it was closer. He turned around to see the crime boss walking towards him at a leisurely pace. “Now, now. What kind of a goodbye is that? We’ve been through a lot together, you and me. You’ve got to give me more respect than that, right?” As he arrived before him, Jiyong reached his right hand out with an honorable grin.
Dongjoo’s face flashed with worry before quickly covering it back up. “Oh, I’m sorry, GD. I just don’t want the wife to worry, you know? Of course, of course. I surely didn’t mean any disrespect.” He reached a clammy hand out to make contact with Jiyong’s. “No hard feelings?” He asked with a hopeful smile.
Just as Jiyong let out a small chuckle, Dongjoo’s eyes flashed to Taehee. He was standing behind Jiyong, far back by the alleyway entrance, with his back turned to both of them. It took him less than a second for Dongjoo to understand what was about to happen.
As he locked eyes with Jiyong, who was holding his now quivering hand with a firm grip, he had no time to think before his skull swung forward to collide with his own.
Dongjoo released the hand he’d use to shake Jiyong’s as he flung his head back in pain. “Fuck!” His vision was blurred while he tried to look forward, seeing four Jiyong’s coming towards him, each with darkened expressions and their right fists reeled back.
His nose shattered the minute Jiyong made contact, sending Dongjoo’s body immediately to the alley ground. His hands flew to his face as if trying to manually preserve whatever features that remained intact. He coughed and spat out dark blood that had rushed in from his nostrils. Jiyong stalked towards him slowly, like a lion playing with its dinner. Dongjoo’s vision was even hazier now, but his fight-or-flight instincts had kicked in full force, giving him the strength to turn over onto his stomach.
Just as he attempted to bring his arms and legs in to hoist himself up, Jiyong lowered his boot to the man’s ear, putting in just enough pressure to push his head against the pavement. Dongjoo let out a piercing groan. Placing more of his weight into that leg, Jiyong leaned down to get a little closer to his face. As Dongjoo’s exasperated breathing and whimpering for mercy got louder, Jiyong shushed him.
“You know… I expected more from you.” His tone was menacing. “I considered you a friend, really.” Dongjoo cried out, too terrified to even attempt to move. “America? Yeah, buddy?” Jiyong chuckled. “You and I both know that’s fucking bullshit. I just gave you chance after chance and you just continued to lie right to my fucking face.” Jiyong leaned forward and spat on the ground right by the man’s broken nose. “You want to know something? You really think the Yang brothers are going to protect you better than we can? That’s a riot. What did they tell you about me, huh? Who do you think we’ve been protecting you from? Huh?” Dongjoo only sobbed more, his body shaking as the “please, please, please”’s and “I’m so sorry”’s continued to flow from his mouth just as quickly as the blood ran from his nose. Jiyong sighed in frustration. “Don’t worry. I’m not going to kill you. No, that wouldn’t be right to do to a family man. Just know that I will never forget about this.” He lifted his boot and allowed the man to hoist himself up to his knees. Dongjoo coughed violently, simultaneously gasping for the air he’d been hoarding in his lungs.
Jiyong dug into his pocket and threw a handkerchief on the ground in front of him, along with some cash. Dongjoo flinched, recoiling his arms across his face before looking down to see the stitched piece of cloth and the paper bills. Trembling, he looked up to lock eyes with Jiyong, whose dark expression hadn’t changed for a second.
“Wipe yourself off and get that nose looked at. Don’t you go home to your wife and kid and let them see this pathetic sight.” Dongjoo only cried in response, to which Jiyong let out a sigh. “What? What are you still doing here? Go.”
He didn’t have to tell him twice. Dongjoo picked up the money, the handkerchief, and himself up off the ground and stumbled his bodyweight in the direction of the far parking lot. Jiyong waited for the sound of his whimpers to fade and be replaced by the sound of an engine before turning back towards Taehee. He approached the man and placed his hand on his shoulder once again. “All right. Let’s get the fuck out of here.”
“Jesus, he did all that just now?”
Taehee nodded at his partner before taking another swig of the beer in his hand.
“Damn, he’s really not playing around these days...” Wonhae replied, ensuring to keep his voice down, knowing that Jiyong wasn’t far down from them at the bar.
Five men: Gyechul, Taehee, Wonhae, Gwangbok, and Jiyong, all sat side by side. The place was a favorite spot of theirs, which they frequently visited after a long day. It was old, secluded in the outer edges of Seoul, and run by people they knew like family. No other bar could be safer for clientele such as themselves.
“Weeell, we all know fucking why.”
Taehee and Wonhae looked over at their partner on their end of the bar, Gyechul, who’d already had his fair share of alcohol for the night. He was staring up at the little box television set with his mouth agape, intently watching the news. “Look! Look look look, there she is now. Pfffft.” He mumbled and pointed up towards the screen. The local news was broadcasting a story about a cop who’d been shot in a “gang related incident” and had “barely made it out alive.”
Gyechul let out a chuckle, muffled through his teeth. “Hey, look everyone we’re in a gang.”
Taehee spoke up in a firm tone. “Gyechul. Enough…Be smart.”
The man turned from the TV to laugh in Taehee’s direction mockingly. “Be smart…pfffft. If I was smart that night I woulda jus killed that cop…but noooo I was following orders.” He waved his hands in the air as he lazily dragged out each word.
“You’re not fucking killing anyone.”
Taehee closed his eyes in a wince, knowing this was bound to happen. He turned to the right to see their boss staring across the bar right through the three of them to Gyechul. Everyone went quiet.
Gyechul chuckled again. “Pffff, whatever you say boss. You see this?!” He pointed to the TV which now showed an old mugshot of his, displaying him as a wanted criminal. “Now we have this to deal with…the fucking news is after me.” He slurred.
“There would have been even worse news if I let you have ‘cop killer’ thrown on your record. I did you a fucking favor.” Jiyong said coldly, silently refusing to look at the TV.
Gyechul stared his boss down. “Ya know what? Fuck you GD. Fuck you and your favors.” He mumbled with his finger pointed in Jiyong’s direction. He pushed himself up into a standing position, slightly swaying back and forth. Jiyong closed his eyes and took a deep, annoyed, breath.
“Gyechul, stop. All right? Let’s get you some water.” Taehee attempted to intervene again.
“Hey, hey, I’m fine all right? It’s him who’s got the fucking problem.” He pointed at Jiyong again before letting out a drunken laugh. He then dramatically gasped and stared out into space. “P-p-put the gun down! This-this is my final warning! … Bang! AH!!” He flailed his arms in the air, falling against the bar while gripping his leg, and bursting out laughing. Jiyong wasn’t the slightest bit amused. The second he stood up, so did the other three men.
“GD, it’s ok. He’s just drunk. He doesn’t know what the fuck he’s saying. We’ll take him somewhere to chill out.” Taehee and Gwangbok attempted to alleviate the situation while Wonhae grabbed his out of line partner by the shoulders.
“What? Do you think I look fucking worried?” Jiyong spat.
“Touchyyyyy.” Gyechul mused, poking his head around Wonhae’s to continue talking at Jiyong. “Ya know, I’ve never seen you like this over someone. Especially a fucking cop. What’s up with that?! Huh?” He yelled belligerently. Jiyong said nothing. He just stared at the bar while the other men continued to try to calm things down. But Gyechul wouldn’t listen. “You know…it’s almost like she’s that girl.”
Jiyong looked right at him.
“Gyechul, shut the fuck up!” Taehee yelled while Wonhae attempted to smack the man to shut up. But he persisted.
“Noooo, come on, you guys know the girl I mean. The one we all fucking know about but no one ever says anything about because GD will freak the fuck out on them.” He narrowed his eyes at Jiyong, who looked ready for slaughter. “It’s her isn’t it?” He chuckled. “She’s the only one that’ll make you so fucking soft like that.” He pointed to the TV. “Oh but…..” He grinned. “She doesn’t make all of you fucking soft.” He sneered before groping himself mockingly.
Jiyong was on his side of the bar in seconds, with his hands gripping his collar. Jiyong has always been a very stoic person, but right in that moment there was a raging fire in his eyes. The other three men nearly tackled them both to stop whatever was about to happen.
Taehee grabbed Jiyong and pulled him back while the other two men pulled Hyechul away. Jiyong’s chest heaved as he took a deep breath to steady himself. He took a second to close his eyes while he waited for Hyechul’s drunken slurs to pipe down. When they finally did, and it looked like their night at the bar had finally ended, Jiyong got up to leave.
“Hyechul.” He announced.
“Yeaah?” The man turned his head, barely able to maintain eye contact.
“You watch yourself.”
After arriving back at his private home, having had enough bullshit for one night, Jiyong poured him and Taehee both a glass of whiskey. Amongst his four major partners, Taehee was by far his closest and most trusted. He knew better than to push any further, in regards to Jiyong’s feelings, than just one simple question.
“You ok?”
“Yeah.” Jiyong muttered, taking a pull from his glass.
Taehee nodded his head and paused for a minute to sip from his own. “Well… How about some music?”
Jiyong grinned and pointed at him before springing up and pacing towards his record collection. “Yes. What’re you feeling?”
“Anything.”
Jiyong was suddenly as giddy as a child. He stuck his hands in his pants pockets, sticking his tongue out slightly and narrowing his eyes as he looked closely at every title. As he began to feel overwhelmed by the amount of choices, Hyechul’s words from earlier made his mind wander back.
He gently began to flip through one of the older stacks of records he’d gotten from his parents’ house. He smiled sadly as he browsed through classic American tunes from Dion, to Chuck Berry, Frankie Valli, and even the Righteous Brothers. Every album had unique memories attached, but they all had one thing in common.
As he flipped past a Frank Sinatra vinyl, a small 45 popped out and nearly hit the floor. Upon saving it and flipping the cover over, a small gasp escaped his lips. It was a 7” Elvis Presley record with “Love Me Tender” and “Any Way You Want Me.” He wasted no time in putting it on and letting one of his most cherished memories return to him.
“Man, I love Elvis.” Taehee chimed in as the song began.
“Me too.” Jiyong smiled as he swayed in place, staring at the cover. A warmth filled his chest as he read the small words that had been handwritten on the front in white marker.
Love me tender, love me true. All my dreams, fulfilled
For my darling, I love you. And I always will
As he traced his fingers around the small heart that had been drawn by the last word, he was hit with an insane idea. In one second, he’d wiped the smile from his face and restored his stoic demeanor to look at Taehee.
“We’re not going over business right now, but I need you to do something for me.”
Taehee sat up straight and alert.
“Get me the address for Jungbu Police Station.”

out of my head of my heart of my mind
out of my head of my heart of my mind katsudeku. explicit. part one. also available on ao3. warnings: A/B/o dynamics
.
Katsuki's heat arrives as it always does, a slow and insidious burn. It begins low in his belly and creeps outwards, warring with the quick explosions he is used to, a fire he can control with a thought and a twitch of his hand. He has always hated his heat. He is disturbed by his helplessness, his intractable responses; it is why he has taken suppressants since the onset. The drugs made him sluggish for a few days, but sluggish was better than the uncontrollable alternative.
This time, however, when the base of his spine begins to itch, Katsuki does not take his suppressant. He stares at the pill pack—a ten day long ritual that he has taken every three months for the last seven years of his life—then gently sets it back in the medicine cabinet behind his mirror.
It is impulse, yes. But it is also a plan that he has let form in the back of his brain and, with this gesture, allows to finally take shape.
.
"I’m going into heat," Katsuki tells his agency supervisor, later that day between first and second shift. If his supervisor is surprised to hear such a thing, she does not show it. Instead, her face remains blank, and she asks,
"When?"
"In a few days," Katsuki informs. "A week at most."
His supervisor nods. "Do you need accommodations or services?"
"No." Katsuki does not elaborate. Giving his idea voice leaves a sour taste in his mouth. His instincts tell him that he isn't wrong—that nothing could possibly go wrong—yet the small possibility that he may fail stills his tongue.
"Thank you for informing us," his supervisor says. "Send me a text or an email when it comes, and we’ll have your shifts covered."
Katsuki nods once, rises from the comfortable chair, and leaves to begin his shift. There is nothing left to be said.
.
Patrol passes slowly. He wanders the streets with his hands on his hips and a scowl on his face, and stubbornly ignores the ever-present tingle at the base of his spine. He gets a few odd looks from passing alphas; they tilt their heads up and inhale deeply, their diaphragms pushing out with the effort. He makes eye-contact with each one that dares to smell him, flashing his best glare and smirking when they skitter.
It is no secret that Katsuki—that Ground Zero, one of the highest ranking heroes of his generation—is an omega. He knows some people are curious about his predilections, especially since his demeanor is not the purported ideal of omegas.
Katsuki doesn't care. He's never cared. His secondary gender and his ability to have children doesn't dictate how he behaves. The only person who gets to decide what Katsuki can and cannot do is Katsuki himself, and everyone else can hang.
.
Night falls. Katsuki stops at several food carts, buying skewers of charcoal-cooked meat. He is ravenous, chomping down twice as much as he normally would. He stops himself before he feels the bloat of fullness, having learned the hard way that being full on patrol is worse than being a little hungry.
As the moon rises in the sky, Katsuki wanders out of his assigned district and closer to the warehouses. His destination is a familiar, medium-sized office building. When he gets there, he launches himself into the air. Flying is as effortless to him now as breathing, and he lands gracefully, boots heavy on the rooftop. It is dusted with gravel, as many business buildings are, and the tiny pebbles grind together beneath the balls of his feet.
Crouched on the building edge, another hero stands. His costume—black with green accents—blends in with the darkening sky. A long white cape flutters from his broad shoulders. He hops down from his perch and chirps, "Kacchan."
"Deku."
"What are you doing here?" Izuku tilts his head. "I thought you had sector D-4 today?"
"I do," Katsuki responds with nonchalance.
"Bored already?"
Katsuki shrugs. Takes a step closer to Izuku. And another, and another, until Izuku’s nose twitches—
Until he inhales sharply—
Until his eyes widen—
Until he gasps, "Kacchan."
Katsuki tilts his head to the side, purposefully exposing the length of his neck. He used to think it was a submissive gesture. That it was weakness. He hated the thought of it. Baring himself to another person that way—it was unfathomable.
Now, when he does it, he realizes how wrong he was. It is not weakness he feels, but power. How easy it was to capture Izuku’s attention, to hold it.
"Are you...?" Izuku chokes.
"I didn’t take my pills," Katsuki announces as he steps boldly into Izuku's space. "It will be here soon."
Izuku’s uniform is stretched skintight over his throat and Katsuki watches the way his larynx contracts around a dry, strangled whimper. It thrills Katsuki to his core. People like to believe that alphas are the strong ones, but Katsuki—an omega—has reduced Izuku to incoherence in less than a minute with no more than a gesture and his scent.
"Kacchan," Izuku pleads. Each syllable scratches relief down Katsuki’s spine. "Are you asking me to..?"
Katsuki stands still. Waits. He can feel the strain of his silence as much as he can sense the tension in Izuku's body. He wants to laugh, victorious, triumphant. He refrains. Instead, he leans forward, curls a gloved hand around Izuku's thick side, and all but purrs,
"If you think you can."
Katsuki is off the roof before realization can dawn in Izuku’s muddled brain. It amuses him more than it should and, this time, when his laughter bubbles in his throat, he lets it escape.
.
On his second day of pre-heat, Katsuki spends most of his morning eating and readying his small apartment for the week to come. He cleans all his spare sheets, pushes all the furniture against the wall, and makes sure the few material items he has are tucked safely away. He goes to the store to buy packs of supplement bars and bottles of water. He even picks up a couple bags of Izuku's favorite snack, a sentimentality he tries not to think about as the cashier rings him up.
Thus prepared and with some time to kill before his shift, Katsuki picks up his phone and texts Kirishima. Though they work at different agencies, they've retained their friendship by meeting up at least once a week, going to cheap dive bars to drink excess amounts of alcohol and consume unhealthy amounts of fried food. Sometimes it's just the two of them. Sometimes it's with their coworkers or old classmates. Either way, Katsuki knows he won't be able to meet up with Kirishima later in the week because of his heat.
Briefly, Katsuki considers lying about why he can't make it. He isn't ashamed of his heat, but that doesn't mean he wants to talk about it. Still, he knows that Kirishima will eventually figure out the truth, and lying will only delay the inevitable.
"Such bullshit," Katsuki mutters as he jabs a message out.
BK won't be able to go out this week have my heat
Unsurprisingly, Kirishima texts back in less than a minute.
KE ur going off suprressants??? IS EVERYTHIGN OKAY
BK fucking calm down i'm fine just didn't take them
KE ok ok i just hear a lot of horror sotries and its not like u to just not take them WAIT did u meet someone???? UR SHARING UR HEAT WITH SOEMNEO ARENT U
BK fuck, shut up, i'm not fucking some fcuking stranger just deku
Katsuki's phone rings almost immediately and Katsuki contemplates not answering. He doesn't want to listen Kirishima yammer. But, as with the texts, he knows that it will be better to just get it over with.
"What?" Katsuki answers with a snarl.
"Midoriya?" Kirishima barks over the phone. Katsuki cannot see his best friend's face, but he can imagine it perfectly: eyebrows high, mouth slack, rapid blinking. "Really? And you want to just—just like that?"
"Whaddya mean, just like that?" Katsuki shoots back. "Isn't that how it fucking works?"
"I mean, not really," Kirishima blurts. "I mean—in a more traditional sense—in some circles—before people learned that it was, you know, wrong to force omegas that were heated into relationships that they didn't actually want—"
"I'm not fucking heated." Katsuki may be warm, yes, but even he knows his symptoms are a small portion of what awaits. His hormones aren't clouding his judgment and he won't pretend he's oblivious to why he wants to spend this heat with Izuku. In his softer moments—in those quiet spaces when Katsuki can be alone and honest—he thinks that he and Izuku have been building towards this since they were children. "I'm not fucking stupid."
"I know you're not. It's just—have you guys even gone a date? Hell, does he even know you like him like—you know, more than a friend?"
Katsuki smirks. "If he didn't, he's about to."
"This is a terrible idea," Kirishima mutters.
"So is your shitty haircut," Katsuki retorts, but there's no heat in the insult. He doesn't expect Kirishima to understand. There is so much history between him and Izuku, both good and bad, that it's difficult for other people to understand their dynamic.
"I know you won't, but you should still probably talk to him." Kirishima heaves a long-suffering sigh, the exhale distorted into mechanical pieces by the phone. "Who knows? Your relationship with Midoriya is complicated on the best of days. Maybe I'm just overthinking it."
"That'd be a fucking first."
And because Katsuki is an asshole with nothing left to say, he disconnects.
.
KE YOU STILL NEED TO TALK TO MIDORIYA
BK fuck off (middle finger emoji)
.
Katsuki had his first heat midway through thirteen.
Like many first heats, it was short—barely scraping past two full days—but it felt so much longer. He remembers shaking through it, his muscles cramping as his body ached. Thirst and hunger were suspended as his dick stayed hard and slick leaked down his thighs. He jerked himself raw with one hand and stuffed his fingers inside himself with the other. He wriggled on his bed, rucking up the sweat-and-slick damp sheets, and whined. He cried and begged and felt incomplete.
When the worst of his heat passed, Katsuki ignored his still wobbly legs, got out of bed, and marched into the shower. He turned the water up as high as it would go and scrubbed the disturbing lack of control from his flesh. Then, once he pulled on a pair of fleece pajama bottoms and the softest shirt he owned, skin still hypersensitive, he stormed into the kitchen and demanded to be taken to the doctor.
Neither of Katsuki's parents protested. He was taken to the family doctor that afternoon, given a routine physical and asked several invasive questions, which Katsuki answered as a snap or a snarl. Eventually, the doctor gave him one of the stronger prescriptions. The suppressants didn't negate all the effects of heat; instead, they muffled them. Katsuki got hungry and hot for a few days, then incredibly horny for another, but it never compared to that first experience, where he laid on his mattress, writhing and gasping for an inexplicable more.
Because of this, Katsuki has never shared a heat. He's had sex, several times with several different partners, yet he never felt compelled to share such an intimacy with any of them.
Izuku is different. Izuku will take care of him. Izuku will take care of his heat, of his body, of his heart. Not just because Izuku is a good alpha and Katsuki is a needful omega, but because it's him.
And this—this is why Katsuki left his suppressants on the shelf.
He trusts Izuku.
.
Katsuki's shift is long and uneventful. He spends a majority of it stalking up and down his assigned sector, his dark scowl and clenched jaw guaranteeing a wide berth. His pre-heat has gone from ignorable to frustrating in less than a day, and still he knows that his symptoms are not the worst of it.
After his shift ends, Katsuki all but runs back to his agency. He bursts into the empty locker room; throws off his gloves, gauntlets, and mask; peels his skintight shirt off his torso; opens his locker and—
Sitting innocently atop his civilian clothing is an enormous, store-bought bento with a note taped to the thin plastic lid.
The bento isn't special. It contains a pile of plain white rice, several thick rolls of tamagoyaki, and a handful of tempura-fried jumbo shrimp. But there's a lot and Katsuki is starving. He scarfs it down, untasting, leaving the note unread until he has devoured all but a few stubborn grains of rice. He picks it off and unfolds it.
I can do it, it reads.
Though there is no signature, Katsuki knows who it's from. The scratchy handwriting is long-familiar and traces of musk linger on the paper. Katsuki brings it up to his nose and inhales deeply. His whole body throbs in anticipation.
Deku.
With a smirk, Katsuki refolds the slip of paper.

the secrets of someone who hates themselves
for myself, at some later date when everything gets better, if it ever comes. dont read it if unless ur prepared for a lot of really personal bu;llshit and sad cringe sorry lmao
(sidenote this is entirely me to myself. this is me, talking to myself. none of what i have written here is directed at another person. this is my feelings about myself and myself ONLY. if you are having any thoughts like these, please, please, please, seek help, talk to a professional, talk to anybody who can help you. the suicide hotline is always open, and they are there to help with ANY form of emotional distress, not just the worst possible things. please, use it. please.)
the secret to hating yourself so much that you wish you could meet yourself on the street so you could beat yourself to death with a crowbar is realizing you have no actual reason for being as much of a sad sorry sack of shit as you are. everyone has tragedy. everyone has dead people. everyone knows the world sucks and is unfair. everyone has their day to day struggles. everyone has to fight to be alive. youve lived so easy. how fucking dare you even think for a second that you have something to be weepy about
the secret is that everyone has made mistakes, but goddamn if your list isnt long as hell and covered in the blood and tears of people you shouldve cared more about. but keep thinking it over and over over again. keep going back to those shitty decisions, to those times you shouldve used your stupid brain for two seconds longer than you did. keep crying about and never get better.
the secret is you dont deserve to get better.
the secret is that you deserve to be unhappy and resentful towards yourself. blame yourself harder. hate yourself more. maybe it'll prevent another tragedy
the secret is that you are the toxic one. you always have been.
the secret is that you're selfish. are you doing this because you think it'll help? or because you want someone, anyone to know how many levels of fuck uppery there are inside you? they should know that you put them there. dont lie to them. they shouldn't feel bad for you. you are manipulative. you always have been.
you still wish he loved you, dont you? you wish he could've just been mistaken and that he would wake up one day and realize how much he missed you and then you could back to the way it was and it would all be fine again. you cant just move on, can you? you cant find closure because you won't let yourself find it. you cling to the things he gave because looking them makes you feel sad and you love to make yourself feel sad. you still think of him when you get in bed and you lay back and feel the sheets and think of the fun you had at the beach that day. you remind yourself of the shame and embarrassment you felt around him whenever you made a stupid mistake because if you remember that its easier to forget the fun and you love to make yourself feel like shit. he deserves to be happy, so happy, and you know that but the selfish part of you stills wishes he could've just stuck around, but you know thats a horrible thing to wish on him because you never could have made him happy. never. you still feel your stomach roll and get queasy when you think of all the things you told him about yourself. you should have been more careful. now he knows more about you than most anyone in your life ever could, and he might as well be a stranger. makes you feel gross, doesn't it? good. next time youll keep it to yourself if you have any sense. nothing lasts forever, so there will always come a time when all you'll be able to do is wish you could take it back, wish you had never said a word. you can prevent those stupid feelings if you just sit down and shut up next time. no one needs to know that much about you. youre stupid and ugly on the inside and outside, so really no one needs to know you at all. theyll be better if they dont. think about that next time.
youre wishing he'll read this though, arent you? i hope if he does, he laughs at how pathetic you are. i hope if he does, he never says a word. you'll hate yourself more if he does read it anyway. idiot.
the secret is that can't let yourself be happy because you hurt people the most when you're carefree and smiling and laughing. you forget yourself. you make careless mistakes. you say hurtful things without realizing it. you do thoughtless actions that only lead to more troubles for everyone else involved. you need to feel bad, because if you're not constantly checking yourself, you turn into the worst person. and that is the truth. you are already cruel and spiteful and selfish. you can't afford to be worse.
the secret is that you wish people cared about you less so maybe if you ever got the guts to do what you know you will do one day, then, at least, for once, you wouldn't be hurting anyone. no one else really knows how horrible you are because you've been playing this game for so long that you've gotten fairly good at fooling them. but you care too much for them to peel back the facade and show them how horrid you can really be. so you live the lie, letting them think you're so much better than you really are, while wishing they knew you were beyond fucked up so maybe one day you could finally shut them all out and they wouldnt have to grieve for someone they shouldnt have ever loved in the first place.
the secret is that you're worth hating. you care too much for yourself and not enough for the rest of the world and the people you should love. you're selfish. you want them to know you're hurting so they'll validate your pain, but your pain is fake and if they think it's real that just means you fooled them into hurting for you. and thats the most selfish thing of all.
dont you ever get tired of thinking about yourself? god youre annoying

To End The Year, A Mini-Magpie With A Mini Mystery.
Has mega-fraudster Craig Gore skipped Australia? And if so, why hasnt this been reported in the media especially since he is supposed to have made a midnight flit the very day after a judge refused to allow him to leave? In other matters, one has to admit that the Townsville Bulletin is consistent it has ended the year as it started, continuing its weekly Olympic-standard shambles. And Mongrel the Barrister has left us lawyer Mark Donnelly, the man who inspired a much loved Magpie character has passed away. and our final visit to Trumpistan for 2018. But first Its hard to keep a good man down, and our fav toonist Bentley is nothing if not a good man. Even in the holiday season, he casts his jaundiced eye over the news, and brings us a different and rib-tickling perspective. This week, he was much taken as most of us were with the drone drama at Gatwick Airport in the UK. A professional drone was reported in the airports approach and departure air space, and thousands of travellers were stuck when the whole shebang was shut down for a couple of days while the wallopers tried to go hi-tech and trace the source of the bastardry. Its not fully sorted yet, but Bentley thinks the drone may have already met its fate.
Why Arent All The Gore-y Details Available?
Will ye no come back agin, laddie? Now to our mini-mystery. On December 19, this report appeared in the Courier Mail. Judge denies disgraced former rich-lister Craig Gore request to travel overseas Vanessa Marsh, The Courier-Mail December 20, 2018 2:21pm A DISGRACED former rich-lister accused of ripping off almost $800,000 from investors has broken down in court after a judge refused his request to leave the country to visit family. Lawyers for alleged fraudster Craig Gore today launched an application in the Queensland District Court, seeking for the former businessmans bail conditions to be altered to allow him to travel to Sweden to visit his wife and children. But Judge Paul Smith denied the request, saying Gore faced a long time in prison if convicted and there was a real risk he would not return to Australia to face trial. Gore is facing 12 charges of fraud over allegations he swindled about $800,000 from self-managed super fund investors in 2013-14. He also faces three charges of managing companies while disqualified. Now that seems pretty definitive and eminently sensible. But The Magpie was informed two days later, by a regular contact and mate who has always been on the money in the past, that Gore went back to court the next day on another application, and had his passport returned so he could be with his family in Sweden at Christmas. He was to return in three months to face trial and possibility of a lengthy striped suntan. The Pies contact says Gore was on a flight out of Brisbane that night at 11pm, accompanied by a lawyer (that was apparently part of the arrangement) who will return with certain paperwork. Gore will be expected to make his own way back to face his fate in March. Yeah, right. Now all that is as it may be, BUT THIS SPECTACULAR REVERSAL OF A JUDGES IMPLACABLE DECISION HAS BEEN NEITHER EXPLAINED OR APPEARED IN THE MEDIA. Well, not that The Magpie can find, after days of searching to verify. If it is true, there will be a hell of a lot of very pissed off people Gores victims and the tireless investigators who nailed him who know just how long are the odds that we will ever see this shyster again. Shades of Skase!! Perhaps we will never know how this came about if it did come about because there will be a lofty judicial silence of unaccountability if he is a no show but surely the second hearing was an open court? Hard to fathom why it wasnt reported. Mongrel The Barrister Is No More The Magpies good mate Mark Sludge Donnelly the man who partially inspired the popular Magpie character Mongrel the Barrister, died in his family home in Cairns last weekend. It is fair to say that Mark was my best mate in the halcyon days of Portraits Bar in the Exchange Hotel all through the Noughties, the years when I was reporting court matters for the Bulletin. We were part of a memorable and disparate group, the bar crowded with our marvellously mixed group every Thursday, Friday and sometimes Saturday nights. (The fondly remembered Portraits became Poseurs Bar in the newspaper column and then in this blog.) Mark was universally known as Sludge, which he happily answered to, but never fully explained, even to me, its origins apparently it had something to do with a memorable comment from a lecturer or senior teacher suggesting Marks behaviour at that time some comparable to something from the bottom of a pond. Sludge was one of the wittiest people Ive known, and his memory was nothing short of astounding, not just for quoting legal precedents but in all things, particularly pop music. He always commandeered the music machine at parties, and was a pretty good DJ. He also had an eye for a well turned ankle, and his way of getting ladies to talk about themselves endeared him to more than one. Like many a member of the Portraits push, Mark liked a drink, and some believed he was a bit too enthusiastic in this direction. But I would say that rather than having a battle with the bottle, he just had frequent skirmishes with it, as we all did and any excess rarely affected his work at the other more sedate bar, where he often shone. Mark left Townsville when his father died, to live with his mother in the family home in Cairns. He didnt practice in Cairns, and went into virtual retirement, which was plagued by ill health for some time. He returned to Townsville annually for his birthday, but I lost touch in the past few years, for which I feel a bit miserable now. Sludge is now undoubtedly arguing the finer points about the Laws of Entry with St Peter for that is certainly where this witty, soft-hearted old friend of mine now is because we all know God loves a larrikin. Mark was 62. They Really Dont Understand Language at The Astonisher, Do They? And they even get the wrong WORD for a headlines. Even when theyre trying to make a pun, which kinda depends on the right word, yes? But we got a headline quoting some bizoid saying Townsville is bracing for a great 2018. Bracing for? Ahem. Youve managed to say EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE of what you meant. Heres the dictionary definition of bracing. verb[withobject] prepare (someone or oneself) forsomethingdifficult or unpleasant:both stations arebracingthemselvesforjoblosses|policeare braced fora trafficnightmare. So although this paper goes through life like a bouncing Hari Krishna whos visited the medicine cabinet once too often, giving us totally unquestioning, unexamined glop about our economy (usually from someone with a vested interest), it seem to have inadvertently hit on the truth here. However, the most tedious aspect of the paper of late is the dreary attempts at humour in headlines, particularly about crime, a subject no one in Townsville with the exception of you folks in Flinders Street, finds the least bit funny. AND EVEN THEN, LANGUAGE FAILS YOU let alone a sharp sense of humour.Take this major front page fail on Thursday.
Swindler? My dear headline writer, stay with me on this and read slowly, feel free to move your lips as you must. Now lets see, a swindler is someone who fiddles some unsuspecting victim out of something. That person would be called a fiddler, and if hidden in a ceiling, could be described as ta da a Fiddler In The Roof. You see, this would then coincide with the hit musical of the same name oh, how we would have all fallen about, clutching our sides in mirth, and holding your superior wit in such esteem!!! But swindler? Now weve just got a headache from smacking our foreheads yet again. And this one in simply NOT TRUE. This online
The actual number of people who said (or may have said, who knows, its probably a fiddled fantasy anyway) was 55% of the 700 or so people who responded to a totally uncontrolled survey. If there area 220,000 potential readers (ha! you wish) in the circulation area, the percentage is not even .5 of one percent. But we all know that the on-line edition is sloppy, so the paper itself will temper the outlandish claims, wont it? Errr no.
This is simply lying, and treating people like morons. And still they wonder But barely have we swallowed our anger before we start scratching our heads over weird genuinely weird stories like this, which would suggest that English isnt TEL boss Patricia OCallaghans first language, or she was suffering mild sunstroke when she was penned the media release from which the story was transcribed.
This story is selective twaddle certainly straight off an unedited media release from the Dudley Do Nothings, meaningless twaddle in which Ms OCallaghan specialises. It has often been said of her that she has the gift of the gab, and aint that the truth, just about all of what she has to say, in The Pies experience, is just that meaningless gabble that sounds good until it is more thoughtfully examined. Like this: The Museum of Underwater Art, located within the heart of The Great Barrier Reef, is a proposal based on the works of international sculpture and underwater artist Jason deCaires Taylor. Whats that bit located in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef? Has there been a Krakatoa-like geographic shift we havent noticed? The Underwater Museum, one of several planned along the coast, will be, at last report, just of Maggy Island, the GBR is a at least an hour or more away by fast cat . But in it goes to the story, with a newbie cub reporter just churning out this PR bumf. But wait, theres more. We then get this prize piece of meaningless gabble from the top executive charged with attracting and promoting tourism to Townsville: Its a project that is going to enhance the Great Barrier Reef experience and also educate visitors on how we manage and live with the reef everyday Ms OCallaghan said. That is absolute poppycock that is totally meaningless. And We? Bloody WE? FFS, girl, get a bloody grip. Insulting, uppity tripe from Ms OCallaghan and lazy, presumably unsupervised reporting (read: select all, copy and paste) by a very uncurious junior reporter (read: stenographer). Really, a monkey using scrabble board wouldve made more sense. The clusterfuck continues no wonder were so deep in the shit. Other matters As if golf didnt already have enough hazards.
Words of Wisdom From Two Funny Men
Frankie Boyle The cleverest quote of the week comes from the Scottish comedian Frankie Boyle in the Guardian. But first, his preamble touched a chord for The Magpie, who can vouch for it when Mr Boyle writes: The plight of the satirist, such as it is, is a compulsion to look at the grimmest, most important thing they can think of, and then for reasons that probably wouldnt survive a really good therapist, try to make it funny. To try to address the iniquities of their society, the satirist must manufacture some hope that what theyre doing might make a difference, then type it all up and send it off somewhere before they remember that it never does. Looking back over the events of this year is a bit like holding a doll for a therapist and pointing to where the bad man hurt you. Mr Boyles point is a universal one, which can be shared by Townsvilleans looking back over the past shambolic year. But his prize quote is so subtle, that you may have to think about for a while The Pie roared after a few seconds. The murder ofJamal Khashoggiby Saudi Arabia is another very difficult subject to find the lighter side of, unless someone in the Ecuadorean embassy has clipped the story out and stuck it to the fridge. (Sigh) Dear Mystified of Mysterton, it means that the Ecuadoreans might be giving their Wikileaks guest Julian Assange a hint.
Dave Barry The other funnyman worth a quote is the inimitable Dave Barry , the American columnist who talks about Florida the way The Magpie talks about Townsville only he is far funnier, proof being that The Magpie pinches more of his lines (many) than he does of The Magpies (none). This was his challenge to a graduating class, but it can just as well apply to the year 2019. How are you, Class, going to respond when the Clock-Radio of Challenge emits the Irritating Buzz of Opportunity? Are you going to roll over and hit the Snooze Button of Complacency? Or are you going to wake up and, after performing the Bodily Functions of Preparedness, boldly grasp the Toothbrush of Tomorrow? And no matter what you do in the coming year, make sure youre always politically correct, so no snowflakes will melt before your harsh words.
And So To This Week In Trumpistan First, compare Trump as Commander In Chief of real US soldiers, on his surprise visit to Iraq
Guess whos wondering if she packed the shampoo? with this.
And now to our final gallery of the year about the man Frankie Boyle described as this troll-doll King Lear, who looks like something youd pick off a baking tray after cooking pizza above it.
And Finally How The Hell ? The Pie has been occasionally upbraided for the use of naughty words in this blog well, one word in particular. He is aware that it can be confronting, but it is the other F word Frustration that compels him to sometimes resort to other for emphasis. Anyway, so what, if its good enough for Sesame Street, its good enough for The Pie. .. So that was the year that was, and what a rip-snorter we have coming up. Turns out this edition wasnt so mini after all. Comments run throughout the holiday break 24/7, so you dont have to wait to have your say. And the New Year will look even rosier for the old bird if you think the Nest is worth a small donation to keep it neat and tidy. The how to donate button is below. HAPPY NEW YEAR, YALL. http://www.townsvillemagpie.com.au/to-end-the-year-a-mini-magpie-with-a-mini-mystery/

On Bathroom Equality
Having your first period is, well, let’s call it: “an experience”. Having your period in public when you are not prepared and your best friend is not around to whip out the little magic bag she always carried in her school bag (thank you), is scary. Being unable to afford the adequate sanitary products is an experience no girl/woman should go through. Living in a system which fails to support females with their basic sanitary needs and makes profit out of their biological functions is, well, discrimination.
However, this is the reality we all (some more affected by it than others), face.
I had my first contact with periods when I was about the age of 5. I have always followed my mum wherever she went, so, in the school toilet she took the opportunity, showed me her sanitary towel and explained, that this, becoming a woman through bleeding, would also happen to me one day. It would become a monthly ritual, and I had to always be prepared. Years before I would even hit puberty I was forced to carry the necessary supplies with me wherever I went.
Some (e.g. younger me) could argue that my mother was a bit paranoid, even extreme. The truth is, however, she only feared I could experience this significant part of a woman’s life the same way she did. My mother spend the first few days she bled thinking she was going to die, but too embarrassed to ask for help (I mean, rural Brazil in the 80s? Good luck in mentioning your vagina), until her mother, embarrassed herself, caught up with what occurred with her oldest daughter and with no other explanation than “this will happen a lot” and no dime in hands gave her a piece of cloth and said: “Here. Cut it to the right size. Later, wash it, and use it again.”
Other than having sympathy with my mother when she recalled the hard cloth ripping into the skin of her thighs, the disgust of having to wash out her own blood out of it and the occasional experience of the inadequate material permitting the blood to run down her legs, embarrassing her - a confession of the sin of being born a poor woman - this issue was not one that affected me much. I say much, because obviously, like every other woman have I as well, for my own lack of planning or due to the unregularity of our bodies, felt the humiliation that it is standing/bleeding in a public place with no measures to support our most basic sanitary needs. This feeling of occasional humiliation and discomfort however turns into anger when I see headlines like the ones covering the newspapers two weeks ago of English girls missing school for being too poor to afford sanitary products.
This again brings to mind a question Elmira and I have been asking ourselves lately: How can we reach gender equality if additional financial burden are connected with existing as a girl/woman? The western society is always quick to judge upon development countries and the challenges imposed upon women and girls in these, but very often fails to look deep into their own structures that might be holding females back: the so called "tampon tax" is one of these. Yes, it is a topic most of us have heard a lot about (and many roll their eyes to to this perfect example of the "western feminist making a fuss over small things and demanding one more privilege"). But the affordable, or even free, possibility to obtain female sanitary products is not just one more privilege when once a month your body does what a female body is supposed to do: bleed. Uncontrollably. With no holding back (it might seem unnecessary that I mention this, but just in case some of you -as some dummies on twitter have- hold onto the illusion that women can "hold it back just like pee").
The taxation of a product so necessary to us not only condemns women and girls in poverty to discomfort and humiliation, but can also be seen as a mechanism of a misogynistic capitalist system to keep these women empoverished, and to punish them for being what they are: women. If this taxation is just another measure of brining money to the state to be used in the benefit of the people and not a punishment on the needs of the female body, how come other sanitary necessities as well needed by our non-menstruating peers such as toilet paper are then not taxed as a luxury? And yes, I am aware that razors for men AND women are also taxed as a luxury, but hey, other then the media would like you to believe, having fresh shaved legs is not of the same importance to as being able to function efficiently without having to have blood dripping down our thighs. Allowing women access to the most basic sanitary products and the comfort, well-being and hygiene that comes along with them should never be seen as a privilege. The current failure of this exposes capitalism as lacking the ability to address equality, and exposes a misogynistic system.
The real issue with the taxation and cost of female sanitary products is not the extra pound middle class women have to pay for their period. The real issue is the comfort and hygiene that comes with it being sold to poor girls as a luxury they can't afford, and even more importantly, occasionally leading to girls, fearing the humiliation of their blood stains, missing out on school. This leads to another challenge trapping young women in poverty and taking away their equal right to a bright future.
Recent studies have shown that underprivileged girls can miss in average 4 days of school a month, solemnly due to the fact that sanitary products are not available to them. And even though headlines of the situation of the girls in Leeds have only been going around recently, this is not a new problem, just a not properly addressed one. Due to the embarrassment girls and women face when facing this issue, lack of understanding and support of the community that surrounds them and the low priority such problems have in the face of starvation, death, literacy and many other daily struggles, women and girls have been choosing to remain silent and find their own, often dangerous, solutions.
“Teenagers and young girls are being forced to wrap or stuff toilet paper down their knickers, to prevent them from bleeding all over themselves while at school. The cost of sanitary products are just too much for some girls and their families, and it’s leading to missing school and it’s putting their health at risk.”, says The Guardian. In other cases, families with many girls use pieces of cloth, which are then washed out and shared between the girls, exposing them to a huge risk of general diseases.
Now, some schools do provide free sanitary products to support their students, however, this is often done in an inadequate way. In many cases, the girl has to ask for permission of the teacher -which often gets declined- to leave class and go talk to the nurse as she did not bring sanitary products with her. Once arriving at the nurse, it can be that the girl has to face a questionnaire as to why she did not bring tampons with her in the first place. Besides being humiliating and agonising, all this process leads girls to waste valuable time in class and/or be stuck in an uncomfortable situation, both being obstacles to young girls to reach their full potential. “The minute you have to ask someone for something that you need for your normal bodily function, you're creating a barrier," says Ferreras-Copeland. The attempt to avoid this situation also leads to many girls using their tampons/sanitary towels longer than they should be, which can lead to cervical cancer or shock syndrome.
All of this could be avoided with one simple step: provide school bathrooms with free female sanitary products. Not only will this be a step towards economic equality and an aid to girls in need and to their families, it will also give young girls their dignity and respect back. To critics of this measure that point out state money should’t be used to “afford this kind of luxury”, I can only point of how hugely classist this viewpoint is: It completely ignores the needs of low-income families who sometimes need to choose between spending their last ten pounds on food or on buying sanitary products. Also, while I do see a bigger urgency in bringing these products to schools, I also don’t see why this shouldn’t be extended to offices, workplaces - keeping women concentrated and feeling well while doing their job - and public bathrooms, being a huge help to homeless women who struggle hugely during their period, and also improving the wellbeing of women generally while being out and about.
To those of you who are willing and have the means to get active on this issue, the removal of the tampon tax is currently being discussed. Call/write to your MP and let him know how you feel about this issue. The removal of the tax would be one step towards equality and at least lower the economical burden imposed on girls and women in need. However, we are still far from seeing these products freely available on each public toilet. Let the government know that is something you care about, but in the meantime you can also take action yourself that can have a huge impact on someone else’s situation. Organisations such as The Homeless Period and Action Aid are great to support to help girls in the UK and abroad. If you are not the donation type of person but are still looking for your good action for the day, remember that whenever you have that extra five pounds, you can just buy a box of pads and tampons and leave them on a public toilet, or give them to a homeless woman on the street. Be a homie, help a sister out.

nickatnightwalker yeah not sure if there's a polite way to ask this and actually i already did but that was when i was under the impression that you were just a really shiny weirdo but are you like, quite sure you dont eat people. like is the mac and cheese a you thing or a species wide thing
gyeolsim you probably won't meet any sirens in your life other than me mind your own business
nickatnightwalker oh my god
nickatnightwalker ok well that's cool i guess
gyeolsim have you considered it might be rude to tell people your species eats them
nickatnightwalker i personally feel like manners are secondary in this case
gyeolsim if someone is planning to it'd be stupid to tell you if someone won't it'd be pointless to tell you
nickatnightwalker listen i know ignorance is bliss but put yourself in my shoes for half a sec
nickatnightwalker would you really rather not know
gyeolsim i think it's kinda taking over you
nickatnightwalker what
gyeolsim worrying over who could hypothetically get you the answer is everyone can even a human with a well sharpened pencil it's who wants to that matters
nickatnightwalker you're killing me here misha not literally it's a turn of phrase
nickatnightwalker anyway whether or not someone wants to get me is a moot point next to the bigger question of who's biologically wired to want to get me
gyeolsim just because some people are doesn't mean that they will no one here is straight up an animal instinct doesn't override intentions
nickatnightwalker you know, you say that but boys will still argue with you i dont expect much more from the ones here
gyeolsim fair but most of my friends here if not all of them
gyeolsim even me we all could kill you some of us are wired to you can't judge a person over that
nickatnightwalker who said im passing judgment? i wanna know who i need to keep an eye on if theyre having a particularly low-self control day
gyeolsim that's up to us to deal with
nickatnightwalker if you slip up, it's still people like me who are gonna suffer
gyeolsim i don't know what else to do here we're all stuck together
nickatnightwalker hey, i just want a heads up
gyeolsim this is why ethics was in moire's list
nickatnightwalker look, i dont think youre going to eat me, misha mostly because you clearly had your window and didnt
gyeolsim thanks that's nice of you
nickatnightwalker i dont know what you want to hear man im in a brave new world and i wanna know the rules
gyeolsim nothing i'm just telling you i guess i'm trying to help
gyeolsim like i said it hasn't happened. not since i got here as far as i know and i think that's the kind of thing people would hear about you got the whole privacy and security intro right explaining the security hooded figures and shit that's gotta count for something you can't just stay afraid
nickatnightwalker there were metal detectors at my old school and it didn't stop kids from bringing knives
nickatnightwalker im not afraid i just need to know what to look for
gyeolsim what are we supposed to do walk around with a tag don't come near me my mother crashes ships and eats the sailors real welcoming
nickatnightwalker well fuck there goes my ship listen you have the advantage of knowing who is what and how they work not all of us get born right into that, yeah?
gyeolsim that's where you're wrong lmao
nickatnightwalker what, about my ship?
gyeolsim you think just because i'm not human i magically know how everyone else works i don't know shit fuck you for thinking i know shit why do you think we're fed up with how the school's been handling our education
nickatnightwalker good sentiment but fuck you, at least you were born knowing magic exists
gyeolsim one type
nickatnightwalker nah i dont buy it your parents didnt talk to you ?
gyeolsim i don't have to tell you my life story
nickatnightwalker give it a rest, im not interested in your secrets misha im telling you i went my whole life thinking that at /least/ i was safe from people literally consuming me as a main source of sustenance and im trying to catch up on 17 years of being in the dark
gyeolsim oh yeah good luck with that the ride never stops i just found out my species eats yours and my best friend's eats mine good luck
nickatnightwalker oh well that's some balls
nickatnightwalker maybe keep an eye on her folks when she talks you to meet em *takes
gyeolsim well yeah but that's not her whatever they gave us we choose what to do with it
nickatnightwalker yeah i mean i get that, i know that but not everybody's like good so i want to know who COULD
gyeolsim again it's probably better to keep an eye on who would
nickatnightwalker to know who would i have to know who could first
gyeolsim i mean sure but like i said a human with a sharp pencil is basically the same
nickatnightwalker ok this is what i feel like youre not getting a human with a sharp pencil isn't darwin's theory of evolution'd into wanting to eat me a human with a sharp pencil is just a fuckign dick
gyeolsim right okay
gyeolsim i get it
nickatnightwalker im not worried about the people i know im worried about all the people i dont
gyeolsim what if you miss out though
nickatnightwalker im talking to you, arent i?
gyeolsim well yeah you didn't know about me before though hell i didn't know about me
nickatnightwalker oh well shit surprise
nickatnightwalker somewhere a therapist hears a cash register ching
gyeolsim back at ya
nickatnightwalker ok thats fair
nickatnightwalker but hey i dont know if someone how you managed to disconnect yourself entirely from the gossip loop but word on the street is im in pretty good with mankind's most pompous predator
gyeolsim haha what
nickatnightwalker im friends with a vampire
gyeolsim good for you
nickatnightwalker two actually karims a fuckin blast point is they eat humans
nickatnightwalker you with me so far
gyeolsim yeah i get it your sister already called me dumb get new jokes
nickatnightwalker my who oh whatever what im saying is they eat people and it's not even a choice, like baldy mcbowlingballhead over there who seems to just wanna pick up babies like a delicacy they HAVE to and i know that
gyeolsim reagan doesn't mean it
gyeolsim i don't think so anyway
nickatnightwalker i take nothing for granted in this place point is they DONT have a choice but to eat people, so it's not even dickish, just unfortunate and sure, i know about 16 ways to banish damian to the netherworld but we're still friends i just lke being prepared
gyeolsim aight i get it
nickatnightwalker dont take it personally but i already googled how to keep a siren from eating you
gyeolsim don't take it personally but whatever you found it 's probably bullshit
nickatnightwalker yeah, i know i can probably get you to fuck off just by flirting with you so im not actually that worried
gyeolsim and i can get you to fuck off by punching you in the face so
nickatnightwalker that would work and id still prefer that to death by integration into fancy mac n cheese
gyeolsim oh gross
nickatnightwalker yeah, you see? punch is definitely preferable
gyeolsim how about we're just civil to each other
nickatnightwalker damn, i thought we were at least at pleasant acquaintance
gyeolsim don't push it and hey
nickatnightwalker sup
gyeolsim it's gonna be alright
nickatnightwalker that's really what im trying to make sure of
gyeolsim me too that's what i'm fighting for it can only go uphill from here
nickatnightwalker honestly im feeling pretty optimistic? since apparently ive met and interacted with a pretty decent handful of people who are more used to seeing me on a supermarket shelf than talking and yet not a single one of you has tried to kill me yet except that kindergartener
gyeolsim haha yeah monsters & me is a rough intro to the school
nickatnightwalker children are monsters no matter what species they are it's like open season in there, everyone vs everyone else constantly
gyeolsim simpler times
nickatnightwalker not necessarily better i feel
gyeolsim nah but i got used to it hopefully you won't have to
nickatnightwalker why wouldnt i have to? im here, arent i?
gyeolsim if the dean gets wollstonecraft's shit together at least in the school you won't something tells me you won't want to go hang out with the supernatural community once you're outta here
nickatnightwalker i might not have much of a choice
nickatnightwalker it seems like a good amount of the supernatural community hangs out with humans anyway
gyeolsim yeah
gyeolsim but you wouldn't have known that if you hadn't come here
nickatnightwalker ignorance isnt bliss ignorance is getting mugged or murdered or eaten or worse besides, the people here are growing on me anyway
gyeolsim dangerous you might make a friend
nickatnightwalker that's horrifying and disgusting please im not that kind of guy
gyeolsim duly noted
nickatnightwalker thank you for respecting my aplatonic boundaries
gyeolsim uh no problem dude
nickatnightwalker that was a joke
gyeolsim not sure what aplatonic means
nickatnightwalker you know how sponges reproduce asexually like, more sponges with no sex it's like that except with friends, but only assholes and dumbasses say that so
gyeolsim i don't like where this is going oh
nickatnightwalker where did you think it was going
gyeolsim somewhere that ends with my fist in your face
nickatnightwalker you cant reach me from wherever you are nice try
gyeolsim i know where you live
nickatnightwalker oh fuck fuck that's true whatever you cant get through my 800 locks good LUCK
gyeolsim i could knock
nickatnightwalker so what? there's a peephole
nickatnightwalker and you already told me youre coming to punch me

gyeolsim you talk a lot
nickatnightwalker you got me there im entertaining though, or you WOULD have actually punched me
gyeolsim i can't reach you wherever you are you don't actually know

How I Went From 6 to 37 Units With One Acquisition Using Hard Money Financing
Disclaimer: This is a very long post detailing how Iacquired a large, out-of-state commercial property. I hope youll find it helpful. If you have any questions or feedback, feel free to leave a comment below or drop me a message. My Cash Goals Prior to this deal, I owned a duplex and a fourplex. Both properties have appreciated substantially since I purchased and rehabbed them, but produce little cash flow. I have other businesses I work in aside from multi-unit investing. My 18-month goal when taking on this project was to increase my passive income (cash flow) so it exceeded my active income (wages)an aggressive goal. In preparation,I sold one of my aforementioned properties to raise money for a lucrative multi-family property to rehab and hold onto. My Search CriteriaCapitalization (CAP) rateof 10%+A value-add property (a building that needs work; yet once the work is done, the value increase should exceed the renovation cost, creating equity)A max purchase price of $450,000, with a cash flow of at least $4,000 per month upon completion10+ units (the more units in the building, the lower my risk) Note: Single-family investing is not my thing, but perfectly fine if thats your strategy.
How I Search Finding good deals is usually about relationships and marketing. However, I dont ignore online listings. I search frequently for properties that meet my criteria. In this case, I found an out-of-state, broker-listed, 33-unit property that was listed near my target price. I read for hours every day, and I know which geographical areas are doing well and which areas arent. Of course, Im not as familiar with out-of-state markets as local investors are, but I do my research and network with area experts when I find an interesting deal in what seems like a good area. I searched in a few states, and in this case, I found a deal in South Carolina. I called the listing agent to get some information. The property had: 33 units spread across 6 separate buildings14 of 33 units rented4 of 33 units completely gutted on the inside15 of 33 units in varying stages of rehab As a value-add investor, this was music to my ears. The 14 rehabbed units were 100 percent occupied and collecting rent, providing income to cover a debt payment while completing rehab work. I saw an opportunity to buy this place, complete the rehab, stabilize the property, and gain some equity to leverage for the next deal. The catch, the agent said, would be getting financing for this property, which was best suited to a cash buyer. Banks would be wary of the smaller rental market (around 45,000 people) and the condition of the property. I told the agent to give me a few days to explore some options. After some market research, I discovered that companies were investing in the area, unemployment was down, rents for this property were well below market, and there was a long waiting list of Section-8 tenants because there werent enough units in the citygreat. Validating the Deal A meeting with my CPA yielded a referral to one of his financial clients. This client was a mortgage broker focused on risky lending. I got in touch with him on Friday evening and had a pre-qualification letter by Saturday morning. Keep in mind it was only a pre-qualification, not a pre-approval (meaning the lender isnt obligated to finance the deal), but it was a good thing to have in my back pocket nonetheless. I made a trip, toured the property, and met a very genuine and honest seller who told me exactly what to expectpositive and negative. While I was there, I spent time in the city talking with hotel clerks, gas-station attendants, property managers, real-estate agents, and just about anyone else who would tell me about the neighborhood. I drove up and down every street within two miles and noticed that the local residents really took care of their properties. Making the Offer The pre-qualification said financing would cover up to 70% of a purchase price up to $400,000 (this helped with negotiations). It would also cover 100% of renovations. I had enough cash to meet these terms, with enough left over to begin construction and hold onto some reserves. So I put in an offer of $350,000, which included 30 days to come up with the financing (I anticipated a few bumps). A few hours later, another bidder offered $375,000. Multiple offersnot good. I was willing to pay up to $400,000, so I matched the other offer and put emphasis on my pre-qualification letter. It worked. The seller accepted my offer. Putting Financing Together I estimated repairs at $300,000, but I needed a professional to validate my assumptions. Im not a contractor, and I wasnt familiar with local prices. I asked for referrals to general contractors from a local lawyer, a regionalReal Estate Investors Association president, and the listing agent. Then I scheduled another trip to South Carolina and slotted six local contractors for one-hour walk throughs throughout the day. In the end, the rehab estimate totaled around $400,000$100,000 more than I had projected. After further research and discussion, I realized the contractors were high-balling the estimates for four units that needed completely new interiors. They were in a separate building where there had been a fire a number of years ago, and I needed an architect to determine what would be salvageable, how to configure the units to meet current code, and to help get a permit issued; without firming up the scope, it was difficult for the contractors to give an accurate estimate. Those four units represented most of the inflated cost. Meanwhile, the clock was ticking on my 30 days for financing. Upon further analysis, the sellers agent pointed out that if I didnt do any work on those four units, the rest of the property could be completed for $120,000. Worst case scenario, I could bulldoze that building and still easily meet my cash-flow goal. Going ahead with the project still made sense. So I sent the contractor estimates to the mortgage broker, explained the discrepancy, and the broker got to work underwriting the deal.
Related:8 Things The Real Estate Experts Wont Tell You About Hard Money Selecting a Lender Unless youre a cash buyer or have a standing relationship with private lenders, securing financing is likely the most difficult hurdle to closing a multi-unit deal. The referral from my CPA was a solid one. However, from past experience, I knew it was not unusual for a lender to pull out at the last minuteso I made a few other phone calls, just in case. I called about 25 lenders and brokers in total. Some were from my personal list, some were referrals from my contacts. Local Community Banks in South Carolina were a pleasure to deal with but couldnt help me since I was from out of state.Major U.S. banksthat I had banking relationships with were just too big for this deal.Mortgage Brokers were 50/50:About half said they wouldnt do this deal because of the construction loan and because I couldnt put down 30% of the total cost (I was looking to put down 30% of purchase price). The other half said the deal would be no problem. At this point, five mortgage brokers were reviewing my paperwork, saying they could get this deal done. I was honest with the brokers. I told them Id spoken with others since I knew the deal was tricky. Its important not to give anyone the wrong impression or let them think that youre working only with them. Of the five, two brokers backed out because they couldnt find a lender willing to take on the project. One broker said he was close. The CPA referral was still considering the deal too, but he hadntdirectly engaged any lenders yet. I continued making phone calls, following up, and juggling multiple brokers. Finding Property Management Companies & Insurance Agents I contacted five local property management companies. Three of them called me back. One of the reps was nice enough, but didnt really seem like a people personso that wasnt going to work. Another company immediately sent me a copy of the property-management agreement to look over, but it outlined a plethora of fees, and basically stripped me of my decision making-rights in managing the property. That wasnt going to work either. My real-estate agent referred me to someone hed used before in a nearby town. The owner was knowledgeable, personable, and willing to negotiate terms that would benefit us both. I negotiated a flat monthly percentage of rent as the management fee, with no other charges at all. Thus ensuring our interests would be aligned. Next I called an insurance agent I had been referred to. After many excuses and unreturned phone calls, he finally sent a quote that was double what the current owner had been payingfor the same coverage. So I called the current owners insurance company and was quoted (the same day) roughly the same price the current owner was being charged. It was nice to have a management agreement and an insurance quote ready to go for when I needed it. Lenders eventually ask for these. Related: How I find Private Money Lenders to 100% Fund My Deals (& How You Can Too) Financing, Continued I estimated anafter-repair value (ARV)of $1.1 million based on (the midpoint of) the low end of the price-per-unit spectrum for recently sold properties in the city. I didnt have income information for those properties, so price per unit is what I went on. After weeks of making phone calls and sending and resending documentation, two brokers sent meterm sheets. One promised hed continue working on the deal until I had something firm. The term sheets were as follows: Broker A: 90% financing on the purchase price, and 100% financing on rehab costs; 7% interest for 24 months, no prepayment penalty.Broker B: 20% down payment on the overall purchase and rehab; 13% interest for 12 months, no prepayment after 9 months. Both brokers were primarily working off loan to ARV. Broker As deal was obviously much better. However, Broker As terms were subject to underwriting, since the offer was presented based on the information I provided (purchase price, rehab costs, and an ARV of $1.1 million). My down payment would workout to around $40,000. Closing fees, broker fees, taxes and insurance were extra, of course. Broker Bs deal had a better chance of moving to closing. Broker B was ready to order an appraisal and close within two weeks if everything checked out. My cash-to-close cost would work out to around $240,000. I went with Broker AIm not afraid of risk. After speaking with this brokers lender, I had a good feeling. I was confident that the deal would work out in my favor. I let Broker B know I was going a different route, and he said, No problem; let me know if things dont work out. He was a great guy to deal with. At this point, I told the other brokers who were still working the deal that I had signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with another company. I signed the term sheet on the LOI, paid for an appraisal, and moved forward with Broker A. The appraisal came back with a current value of $475,000 and estimated a value of $1 million upon project completion. The higher-than-expected current value helped provide some comfort to both the lender and me. The ARV was lower than I anticipated, but the lender assured me it wouldnt affect the terms of the deal. We could move forward. I sent him the property management agreement and the insurance quote and he said everything was fine. I was surprised, since lenders wont normally go above 70% loan to value, or 65% in smaller markets, but we trudged on nonetheless. In the meantime, I kept working on trying to get some better contractor quotes, just in case.
Closing the Deal Three or four days before closing, I received an email from the lender stating they couldnt find anyone to fund the deal: I would need to put up another $200,000 in order to get things wrapped up. The terms were now similar to those offered by Broker B, but I had already paid for the appraisal with Broker As lender. I took a conference call with the lender. The managing director told me he had originally thought he could finance in-house with funds managed by his colleagues, but none of the fund managers would take the deal due to the small size of the local market. He assured me that he could get the deal done, but said he needed more for the down payment30% down on the purchase price. That was exactly what I had been originally expecting, so it was no problem. Closing was extended by two weeks, and some additional earnest money was paid. Two weeks later, another setback: The lenders managing director called me again and said he would finance the deal himself by getting a bank loan. We extended closing again, this time by 20 days, and the seller said in no uncertain terms that this would be the final extension. With the additional earnest money, I now had $15,000 in the dealnot including the appraisal and travel costs. If the deal didnt go through in the next 20 days, the seller would have kept the place and I would have been out more than $20,000. More Setbacks Well, the bank didnt like the property and turned the lender down. Remember, a smaller market means greater risk. At this point, the lender, now acting as a mortgage broker, reached out to another broker who had an interested lender in California. This new broker-lender duo moved extremely quickly, did due diligence, and communicated effectively throughout the process. In the end, the down payment worked out to be about 20% of the whole project (about the same terms as Broker B had offered). Broker A passed along the documentation wed accrued thus far, and we moved forward with the deal. The California lender asked me for a few more things, which I sent the same day. A conference call with the lender helped answer outstanding questions about the appraisal, my background, and the property. The lender assured me he everything he needed to close in one week (which was the final, hard deadline). My lawyer said Id receive the closing documents before closing. One day before closing, the lender sent a list of things he needed in order to close the following day. Most were quick and easy to send, such as updated bank statements and proof that earnest money was being held in a trust account. However, two things would require some effort: A breakdown of the contractors quote by type and quantity of material, insurance costs, overhead, profit, etc.An enforceability letter from a lawyer in Canada, where my other property is located, allowing the US lender to go after my Canadian assets should I default on my US loan. I dropped everything for the remainder of the day and got to work. I immediately sent everything asked of me except the two items described above. My contractors office was closed that day, but with a few frantic phone calls, I put something together. The enforceability letter harder to come by. My flight to South Carolina for closing was delayed due to a big storm. The unfortunate weather provided me with enough time in the evening to make additional phone calls. Eventually, I remembered a childhood friend whose cousins had all became successful doctors, lawyers, and accountants. One of the cousins referred me to a friend of a friend who said he would put the letter together the following morning. At 1:40 p.m. the following day, I received the enforceability letter and sent it to the lender. The lender had promised to have the loan documents ready to be sent at the click of a button, and he followed through on that promise. Closing was scheduled for 3 p.m. I had one hour and 20 minutes to review 98 pages of documentation at a coffee shop and then drive to the closing at my lawyers office. Luckily, the loan documents matched up with the term sheet, so there were no issues there. Closing went ahead at 3 p.m. as scheduled. Even though the wire transfer didnt arrive from California in time for the closing, the large wire transfer I had sent the day before satisfied the seller enough to allow closing to take place (without knowing the final settlement amount, I had sent an overage). The seller agreed to pick up his check for the balance the following Monday. And with that, the deal closed.
Lessons Learned In the end, the deal went through. I now have a relationship with a solid lender and a few good mortgage brokers. Some things I did well, such as preparing documentation in advance and not relying on a single, unknown mortgage broker or lender (if I had, this deal certainly would have fallen through). That said, I could have closed the deal a lot sooner had I done a few things differently. Heres what I learned: If a lender offers terms drastically better than what others are offering, its probably too good to be true. Choose a more certain option.Get contractor quotes before taking your renovation estimate to the bankunless you are very experienced and youre doing the work yourself. Banks will want proper documentation.Dont rely on a single lender to finance the deal unless youve dealt with them before. Many mortgage brokers will tell you they can close a deal like this, but only some of them canand it will take time.Communicate well, and be available. When a bank asks for something, they need it as soon as possible in order to avoid slowing down the deal. Stay in touch with the bank and your broker to ensure you stay on the same page. I live in Alberta, Canada. I have never owned a vehicle before so I have no history of accidents or tickets or anything. I've had my license for about a year now. Why is a car insurance trying to settle a car accident claim fast?
I was in a car accident. The other driver did a squat and stop scam. (the driver speeds out quickly in front of another driver so he/she wont have enough time to stop and then sit there so the other driver can hit him/her) However, the other driver's car insurance trying to settle quick. The driver's car insurance company did their investigation and came to an conclusion that I was at fault.. (yeah right) The accident happen on 4/20/11 and they trying to settle on 4/28/11. (eight days later) When I mentioned that my attorney was handling the case. All of a sudden the company sending me letters claiming it my fault and I have to pay for my own damages. And, that I have so many years to take the claim to court. (hoping that I want) I just fax everything over to my attorney. I am still going through therapy. I do have car insurance. So, why is the driver's car insurance company trying to settle the claim quick when they was actually at fault? Please, only knowledgeable people reply. Thank you so much Note: The driver's girlfriend was told to fake she was injury because she is pregnant. Also, the driver came out the wrong exit of the driveway speeding..""

I've made preliminary inquiries to get life insurance for a 78 year-old female, however, I get the standard response of no because of her age and the fact that she has been hospitalized in the last year and has pre-existing conditions (COPD, high blood pressure, arhythmia). My sense, however, is that there may be life insurance companies out there with more accomodating terms for senior citizens. Insurance for new driver?
For a new male driver that just got their permit, which car would have cheaper insurance? 2013 Audi A6 3.0T or a 2000 Corvette convertible Most people's first responses are the Corvette, because it is a sports car. Which will cost more to insure? 00-04 mustang base or 00-04 mustang gt?
I'm 17 and live in New York. Been driving with a clean record for one year and I currently pay $100/month on my mom's '10 camry. I want to get my own car and I have narrowed everything down to a mustang, but I can't decide between a base model or a gt. I have discounts on my current policy such as good student and drivers ed. I will also take a defensive driving course for an added discount and the new car will also bring about a multi-car policy discount which will be helpful. My mom will be contributing the same $100 towards the car as she is now and the rest I have to pay for by myself. I have heard that the base and gt will cost about the same to insure, but that doesn't seem right considering that the gt has 100+hp more than the base, but people have supported that by saying the base models are involved in more crashes among young drivers. So can anybody set the record straight for me? Please don't give me responses saying that only my insurance agent can tell me that or too high for you to afford. Also would it be a wise decision to drop collision coverage for a huge insurance discount? I don't plan on racing this car.""

I need some general information about the cost of a motorcycle versus a car?
I have been wanting a motorcycle since I got my regular drivers license, but persuading my parents has proven difficult, as always. My mom seems to be fine with it but my dad, who is normally the one to crush such ideas, is actually considering it if I research the financial aspect of a motorcycle vs. a car. I would appreciate it if anyone had information about how much insurance would go up (I'm 17 so it's probably too expensive already), regular maintenance costs of motorcycles and cars, and anything else relating to the total cost of both. I have about 2500 dollars saved up, and my mom said she would personally loan me up to 1000 at a lower interest rate than the bank, but I could probably take out a loan on top of that, but I would rather avoid that if I can. I am specifically looking at sport bikes, especially the kawasaki ninja 250R because of what I heard, It's reliable, a great beginner's bike, and it's a lot cheaper than other companies I have researched. I simply want a motorcycle even if it's slightly more expensive than a car because I have always liked motorcycles, but nonetheless my father told me to research the financial side of things, so any information is greatly appreciated. And by all means, if I am misinformed about anything like my notion on the ninja 250R, please tell me.""

What's the cheapest way to commute between Liverpool and Manchester?
Hi, I'm starting a new job in Manchester next month and I'm trying to find the cheapest way to commute. I'll be travelling from Rock Ferry to Manchester Piccadilly 5 days a week and my working hours will be roughly 9am to 5pm, although some days will require an earlier start and a later finish. I've looked at a rail season ticket and was shocked to discover it would cost 3008.00 with First Trans Penine. I've also read that the train journey is horrendous. My wife and I share a car but realistically, she can't rely on me to pick her up and drop her off at work at the same time every day (she works in Liverpool) so we would potentially need another car. With that, comes the initial cost of buying the vehicle, then tax, insurance, MOT and weekly fuel, which in my mind will cost even more than the rail season ticket. Added to that is the fact that we're not particularly well off so can't afford more than a couple of thousand for a 2nd hand car. A brand new car on finance would be out of the question. So, are there any regular Liverpool to Manchester commuters out there and if so, how do you keep your costs down? Any suggestions would be much appreciated!""

Betches Love This College: The University Of Georgia
College is the best four years (five if you play your cards right) of any betchs life. No no. That wasnt a question. So in honor of college admissions season being like now, were bringing back Betches Love This College. That way, you can pick where to go to school based on important shit like parties and drinking rather than grades and what you want to be when you grow up. Youre welcome in advance.
In terms of where to apply, everyone knows Manhattanites go Ivy League (and Emory), while West Coasters love the Arizona schools. But what about Southern betches? Where tf do they go? The University of Georgia, thats where. UGA has all the cool shit Southern schools are known for like gorgeous people, insane Greek life, an awesome-ish football team, etc., but its also really hard to get into these days so you cant be a total hillbilly and go there. Sorry Alabama, maybe next year. So heres what you need to know.
The People
Greeks: Given that UGA is a massive Southern university, its not exactly groundbreaking that Greek life is no fucking joke. In terms of whos who, you can put them into two categories: old row and new row. Your old row sororities (ADPi, KKG, Theta, XO and Phi Mu) pretty much have the Atlanta private schools on lock, plus rich Texas and North Carolina girls. So unless youre one of those or the worlds hottest legacy, youre not getting in. But dont fret, public school betches. There are a handful of new row sororities that are just as good if not better. KD, ZTA and AOPi are definitely the best.
For the fraternities, theyre exactly what youd expect. Super fratty and douchey. Look out for pledges the first few weeks of school. Theyll be the guys walking around campus in suits who look like they want to fucking kill themselves. Poor kids. Before your 4-5 years are up, youll definitely want to be asked on Old South because who doesnt want to get wasted in an antebellum dress? So make nice with the KAs.
Orientation Leaders: You know the girl in high school who was the head cheerleader, volleyball captain, class president, valedictorian and still managed to volunteer at the local nursing home on the weekends? Yeah, this is what she becomes in college. There are guy OLs too, but that didnt work with my analogy. Every year, 12 people are picked from the entire 30,000+ person student body to help the freshman figure shit out before move-in day. If Taylor Swift had gone to UGA, she probs would have been an OL. Seems like the type.
Hipsters: Besides that Travelocity commercial and being the worlds greatest college town, Athens is a pretty artsy place. Most importantly, it has a kick-ass music scene, so what does that mean? Hipsters be flocking so they can see musicians before they go mainstream. They leave town during home games, hate the Greeks and smoke a lot. Theyre probs photojournalism or lit majors and arent involved in anything on campus because thats for the stereotypical norm. Fucking duh.
Athletes: If youre not one of first three, youre most likely a student athlete. Football players are easy to spot because theyre the massive, Nike-clad guys who ride around campus on red vespas. Have you ever seen a linebacker on a scooter? Its a sight. But tbh, no one really gives a shit about seeing football players. Too common. The athletes to be on the lookout for are the Gymdogs, UGAs badass gymnasts, and Olympians. UGA had like 30 people compete in Rio and they won 10 medals. Thats more than most countries. Pretty fucking impressive. If you see any of the gold medalists, be sure to get that shit on your Snapchat story.
Where To Live
Freshmen: All UGA freshman are required to live in the dorms. Just a heads up, these arent the dorms of Buckingham fucking Palace you see on Pinterest. The box my Tori Burch riding boots came in is bigger than these. But suck it up. Its just a year. In terms of the best dorms to live in, the high-rises are the only way to go. There are a shit ton of other dorms around campus that are nicer, but only weirdos live in those and they arent as fun. Youre here to get shitfaced and meet people, not for the Ritz Carlton-esque amenities.
Sophomores: Assuming you go Greek, and I feel like most of yall reading this will, you move into the sorority house your second year. UGA sorority houses are mansions and can house about 60 girls so hopefully you dont need much alone time. The upsides? You have a chef who cooks all your meals, maids and maintenance people to fix things, and theres always something fun going on. The downsides? No alcohol in the house, no boys upstairs and if you eat all three meals everyday youll get fat.
Upperclassmen: If freshman and sophomore year wasnt enough to get the batshit crazy out of your system, you move to Georgia Heights. This place isnt disgusting like a frat house or anything, its just in the middle of downtown where all the bars and restaurants are so if you live here, youll end up going out every single night. Rent is high because the location is fire and the apartments are super nice. If youre more of a chill upperclassman, you and your friends should rent house in Five Points. Theyre close to Milledge (Greek row) and the stadium so theyre perfect for hosting tailgates and wine nights.
Nightlife
Pauleys: Every night out starts at Pauleys, a crepe bar that serves a billion different beers on tap and insanely cheap bottles of wine. Tbh, no one really goes there to eat, although at least one person at the table will order the chips and Terrapin beer cheese dip or a Nutella banana crepe. The real gem is the Manmosa, which is just a mimosa plus vodka. Aka a regular betch mimosa.
Bourbon: Its technical name is Bourbon Street, but dont call it that or youll look like a newb. This is the closest thing to a freshman bar Athens has. Why no real freshman bar? Because the only places that are 18+ are sketchy af and no one goes there. Im not going to go into the deets about what you need to have in your wallet to get into these 21 and up bars before youre actually of age because I dont want to be liable for your law-breaking ass, but I think youre picking up what Im putting down. If not, talk to your big. Shell hook you up. Back to Bourbon. Its a total shit show because freshman who cant handle their liquor take over the place. But its a rite of passage and its always rated one of the top college bars in the U.S. so if youre in Athens because youre a student or just in town for a game, you have to go there.
College Ave: Along this stretch of downtown are three bars you need to know: Sandbar, City and Silver Dollar. These used to be considered upperclassmen spots, but now you can find pretty much anyone there. Because there are so many bars in Athens (80 in one square mile for all you mathematicians), no one just stays put in one place the whole night because that would be boring. Since these are literally all right next door to each other, theyre super easy to bounce in between when you need a change of pace. These are the places to see and be seen.
Creature Comforts: Besides being one of the best breweries in the whole damn country, Creature Comforts downtown address makes it the perfect spot to pregame a night out or day drink instead of going to class.
Big Events
Shower Cap: In the spring, all the fraternities host huge parties so everyone can cope with the fact that football season is over. Literally every frat has one, but SAEs Shower Cap is the biggest and best of them all. Tbh, I have no idea why were all so obsessed with it. Its just like hundreds, maybe thousands, of blackout people on a fraternity house lawn, but its amazing. Theres always a band and the people watching will give you life.
Twilight: Every year, Athens hosts this crazy bike race called Twilight in the middle of downtown. Three reasons why everyone loves it: 1) This isnt like you and your first grade bestie seeing who can get to the bottom of the hill first. This race is some Lance Armstrong level shit. 2) Its always right before finals week so everyone gets drunk af because theyre actually gonna have to study soon. 3) Open. Container.
Georgia-Florida: All of football season at UGA is a big event, but theres nothing bigger than GAFLA. The school literally plans fall break around it because they know everyone would still bail on class if they didnt. Every year, the game is played in Jacksonville, Fla., but instead of staying close to the stadium, UGA students stay a few hours away in St. Simons. Why? Because its bullshit that its in Florida every year, and Georgians want to keep their tax dollars in state. Im not even kidding. Thats the real reason. The Friday before the game, the entire student body takes over a stretch of beach aka Frat Beach and has a massive cluster fuck of a party. The residents of SSI hate it. The university hates it. But despite their many attempts, theres nothing they can do to stop it.
Drawbacks
Every August, youll think its UGAs year for football and that this team will go all the way. Every October, your hopes and dreams will be shattered. Just go ahead and prepare yourself for football heartbreak.
Parking is a fucking nightmare, the bus drivers are absolute savages, and regardless of which direction youre walking, its miraculously always uphill. So getting around campus is a bitch. But if you take the walking route, youll have a killer ass.
