Does anyone know where to find 3-4xl tradgoth fatshion? /nf

Hi! This isn't the wrong blog to ask! I've separated this answer into parts to make this post easier to read.

Option 1: Independent Artists

I'm not super knowledgeable about where to buy fatshion myself. If I'm not simply buying from Torrid and hoping for the best, I'm probably buying from @mayakern. She's mainly known for her skirts, but she also sells shirts and I think is branching out to even more clothing types. These two skirts of hers may work for a goth aesthetic, and I think one is still available as a miniskirt as well.

A similar store is @freshhotflavors. They have an online store here along with their Tumblr. I haven't personally bought from them, but they work with Maya Kern. I've bought many a skirt from Maya Kern over the years and know her dedication to quality. She also has been very understanding with me about exchanging one of her skirts I accidentally got double of for christmas. So the fact that she works with Fresh Hot Flavors encourages me to trust FHF as well. I believe they sell some of her skirts in maxi length, but they sell a variety of other stuff too!

An artist that FHF works with who seems to make a lot of goth clothing is @vetiverfox. This is their website. I haven't bought from this artist either, but their skirts seem to be similar to Maya Kern's with the sizing, elastic waistband, and type of fabric used. So if their clothes are anything like Maya Kern's, I would give them a shot. Each of these three artists sell skirts that go up to a 6XL (though I think Maya has mentioned having some skirts that go up to 8XL too). I've only been talking about skirts, but each of these artists sells more than that.

Option 2: User Suggestions

I'm hoping our followers may have some advice for you about where to buy goth fatshion. @fine-ass-fatshion has knowledge about fatshion for sure. We've also recently reblogged some great goth fatshion from @wisteriaawillow, so I would definitely suggest asking them for advice on where to buy goth fatshion too. @iridessence wears a lot of pretty fatshion on her main blog, but her side blog @luxus-aeterna would be more your style. I don't know if the clothes she wears on that blog are technically goth or simply make me think of gothic clothing due to being historical clothing with generally darker fabrics, but look at her side blog just in case. I believe her FAQ mentions that she gives detailed information about how to find the clothes she wears if you donate to her work.

Option 3: Tailoring and Getting Creative

A lot of fat people have to resort to sewing and making their own clothes, but this can include taking stuff and simply making adjustments to them. For example, dyeing a shirt a more goth color, taking dollar store trinkets and making them into jewelry, etc. You can even do some clothing adjustments without needing to know how to sew! That's how I used to make my cosplays. People have suggested before to not discard the idea of going to a tailor either. If you happen to find some clothing you like but doesn't fit you, a tailor can help.

Option 4: Etsy and Commissions

Websites like Etsy sometimes can be a goldmine for specific aesthetics. However, Etsy tends to be expensive due to shipping and/or items being handmade by artists. I also hate that a lot of artists on Etsy charge fat people more money for the same product. Additionally, Etsy is probably a better store for accessories rather than your main outfit.

If you're willing to pay for the quality of handmade clothing fitted specifically for your body type and measurements, I've honestly considered the idea myself of commissioning cosplay artists for clothing, which can be done through Etsy or by meeting cosplay artists at anime conventions. If you go to a local anime convention and meet an artist there, you may even find an artist so local that you can try on the clothes during the process of making them so that you know they definitely will fit you at the end. I've thought about this usually regarding cosplay, but a cosplayer who does commissions would probably be able to make clothing that isn't for cosplaying a character as long as you gave them references.

Option 5: Online Stores and Our Pinned Post

Lastly, our pinned post has a link to our FAQ Google Doc, and that Google Doc includes links to online stores that sell plus size clothing. And here is a link to a post we shared about a month ago that has resources for buying jfashion. A lot of of the photos on the post include fatshion that could be useful for a goth aesthetic, though I say that without much knowledge about goth clothing.

Scam PSA

Be aware that if someone sends you an ask begging you for money, or to share their post with information about how to send them money, it is a scam.

There is no dying/dead relative. There is no sick pet. There is no poor soul who was kicked out of their parents' house with nowhere to go.

People who genuinely are in need of assistance seek out charities, GoFundMe, and the like, where there is oversight to the donation process. They are places that are very good at stamping out people who exploit their site to scam people out of money. This is why scammers usually avoid those places so they don't get caught.

Scams like this are preying on your kind nature and desire to help those in dire straits. They target trending tags and go after those who have reblogged posts about how to donate to those suffering actual tragedies, like the one in Palestine.

When you get one of these asks, don't respond to it. Do not engage.

The scammer will ask for a private response. This is to minimize the risk that people will realize that it's a copypasta. Chances are, if you do a search quoting parts of it, you'll find the same ask posted elsewhere. Often times you'll find these asks came from multiple different blogs that no longer exist because they got caught.

Here is a recent scam ask that I received. I am posting it in full so that people can know what to look out for.

Hey, hi! Im really sorry for sending this, i just hope im not overstepping any boundaries as I’m about to ask help which is very important right now :( our cat, Sleepy needs an urgent vet care. She is pain and I can't afford to pay the vet to help her so I'm reaching out to ask for help, I mean even if you can’t help monetarily, reblogging or sharing it would truly mean a lot. She is my daughter’s best friend and she’s all I have left of my mom who passed away last 2021. In case you’d be insterested to help, I have pinned the post on my blog, please try to also answer the ask privately as some people tend to get weird on this stuff. Please send us prayers, be safe. ♥️🙏

If you're still unsure, check the asker's blog. Even if they have an icon and some info listed to pass the initial bot test, there are other signs to look out for.

Was the blog recently created?

Was the pinned post made about the time the blog was created?

Is the pinned post full of popular tags unrelated to the requested donation?

Is there a focus on other donation posts in the reblogs?

Were the other reblogs also made around the time the blog was created?

Can you find the images/text in the pinned post elsewhere on unrelated pages?

Remember, this is a person digitally knocking door to door asking for money while giving everyone they come across a very sad story to pull at their heartstrings. If you would be wary of a stranger coming up to you on the street to ask you for money, be just as wary as someone sliding into your inbox.

Remember that there are plenty of people who prey on your kindness. They will lie, and many of them are very good at it. They don't feel bad about manipulating you and making you feel like you're the bad person for denying them. They don't care about you or others, they only care about themselves.

Hey I'm gonna interact with you in good faith here, but I can't trust that you're a good actor because there's a lot of red flags of a donation scam here. I'm gonna detail them for you so that if you aren't trying to exploit our mutual aid community, you'll know how to avoid looking like a scam artist

Sending asks to strangers isn't how we disseminate donation posts; some users will reblog your donation post to their audience if asked, but this is usually only done with users you have an established follower/mutual relationship with.

This ask reads very similarly to the sorts of scripted sob stories that scammers will use, usually literally using a program to mass-send these sorts of messages.

Your blog is seemingly brand new, with reblogs and other content starting only a few hours before you made your aid request post. I do believe it's possible that you are having a real emergency and learned that Tumblr is a good platform to fundraise on and you made your blog specifically to fundraise, but the existence of scammers who exploit mutual aid means this is a red flag.

Asking me to respond to you privately is a huge red flag; it triggers suspicion that you're trying to hide that this is a copied message that has been sent to and/or from several different blogs.

I am going to be publishing and tagging this ask so that users whom I trust might verify that you're real, and as an educational resource to help other users recognize the signs of a mutual aid scam.

Remember that mutual aid is about a community helping itself, so that means you need to have a connection to the community to participate in it.

-As of 2023 I am 21 years old, introvert, genderfluid aroace polyamorous lesbian , norse heathen witch, who has unspecified neurodivergences and disability.

-Personally I'd sum up my personality as chaotic, tired, and socially inept. I have trouble with social interactions at times, either forgetting how to interact with people normally, low spoons, or my social battery is dead.

-My vocabulary changes from fanciful wording to the weirdest slang. Example. Whilst I enjoy the yeeting of my blorbo around my cerebral cortex, I am up for putting them into the salad spinner for their uwu crimes. You stick around on this blog, and you will find more of that I assure you.

-My genderfluidity is a mystery to even myself sometimes, so I tend to go by they/them for simplicity. I'd say I'm still figuring out what some of my genders are, though I'd say none of them fall strictly into masculine or feminine categories, even if I like more feminine or masculine pronouns at times.

-I use the term lesbian cause it feels right. I am not attracted to men in the slightest. Edit: changed cause well, figured out identity stuff. Aroace, short for aromantic and asexual. -I am in many fandoms, that it has become a game of what fandom I shall fall into next. That also means my brain is full of so much fictional knowledge that I wonder if I will run out of space in my brain.

I am going anonymous for this ask due to fear of backlash, but here goes:

I am supporting Palestine, but there are people in my ask inbox asking me to donate. I don't know if they are scams or not, and frankly, if they AREN'T scams, I know that I cannot donate.

What should I do? Should I answer the asks? If I should, what should I say?

Hey anon. It is always hard when you get donations in your ask box. Even without the ask it is sometimes hard to even find reliable sources to donate through.

A good way to check is if you can access their blog, see how long the account has been active. Usually if it's an account just made recently it is fair to consider it is a scam. I would consider how exactly they expect to receive the donation.

I got an ask like that and the account was rather new so I didn't share it with risk of it being a scam. Honestly most times when i get something like that in my ask box I'm very wary. I feel really bad because I worried this could be someone desperate. But I also don't want my followers and those who actually need it to lose money.

In the case of Palestine, I've been keeping an eye out for more reliable means of donation to boost (which is hard because Tumblr and other platforms seem to be trying to suppress discussions of what is going on). I also can't donate since I'm on exchange currently and it is pricey. So if you really think it is a scam, delete the ask. If it seems genuine reply saying I can't donate but I'll boost it. If it is a scam, there are other ways you can boost more reliable donation routes like official charities that you can look into easier to see if they're reliable. If you're looking to boost individual families, a lot of people tend to use gofundme which I'm currently still looking into for reliability, but I also know gofundme has been able to help a lot of people. I've also recently seen a lot of mention about operation olive branch which connects content creators on youtube, tiktok, etc. with a Palestinian family in need to boost their goodfundmes and such. So if you have a content creator you like/trust, boosting who they're supporting might be an option.

It's sad really that you have to be so cautious with donations. But poke around the free Palestine tag when you can, one of the top post currently is linking to a bunch of gofundmes which I recently reblogged. Also, just speaking about it and sharing news just to make people aware helps. I know that's how I got pulled into it after being neutral in the very early days.

But I'm no expert on this. This is just how I've been operating. So don't just take my word for it.

Well you’d have to be a bit more specific on what social justice issues you are talking about.

But I’m general I typically use this blog for art, nature, my random rants and options etc.

9/10 I do reblog something in support of my views, I tend to get a bunch of hate mail that’s like “youre white tho” “fake-woke performance ally” “you’re transphobic if you support Pan” type bullshit. I’ve even had someone say that I’m only with my boyfriend to make myself look woke???????????? The anons I don’t post out number the anons I do answer 10/1 And honestly like, I'm a cis white woman so why would I speak out on all these issues where it's like, no one is asking for my opinion, and my opinion on the subject doesn't matter. Some valid criticism I’ve received is to stop adding my opinion to non-white issues so that’s where my heads is. And as a result I’m being told that “I could be doing more”. Just because my presence on tumblr doesn’t mirror my level of real-life activism doesn’t mean I should be subjected by harassment via anons. So this blog is a space for me to simply share art, things I like, my random thoughts and the like.

Part of the reason I don’t use Instagram anymore is cause I’m tired of reading that ignorant ass shit. Like it 100% means you are not comfortable with your own self and your own activism if you are projecting that shit onto other people in the least constructive way possible. My feelings aren’t hurt or w.e it’s just negativity that I don’t need in my life. It’s not constructive at all. It’s not educational at all.

I’m not going to contribute to that discourse (even tho I technically am now lol) when there is actual work that can be done. None of it involves being bullied by angry insecure ppl online who know nothing about me, yet assume everything about me based on some tumblr posts? And if I went and posted about the donations I make or the way I’m trying to give back the certain communities or the shit im learning, I would just get shit anyways.
