Danganronpa × RAIN CODE Crossover ①
Yuma and Shinigami meet the Danganronpa characters for the first time. (In this manga, only the protagonist of DR2 appears.)
日本語版はコチラ。
*This may not make much sense to non-Japanese speakers, so there is an explanation at the end.
------
Background information:
There are four different ways to read the name "日向", the most common being "Hinata", but there are also the readings "Hyuga", "Himukai", and "Himuka". Also, the character "創" is generally read as "Sou", and the reading "Hajime" is a special reading that is only used for people's names. So it is generally difficult to read this name correctly without clues.
The reason why Shinigami was disappointed is that Hinata Hajime sounds much softer than Hyuga Sou, the reading she first predicted. Hinata and Hajime are not really lame. However, the name Hinata could be used as a first name for girls, so it gives a cute impression to Japanese speakers. 😄

What if Yuri was the only one to know about Soap and Price? He always thought there is something going on between them because of how the two men interact. Lingering touches, softness in their voice, the fact that the two always seem to be together. At some point he can swear he saw Price leaving Soap’s quarters in the morning. He respected their bond. His suspicions are confirmed when Soap decides to open up about it and Yuri was so grateful for it, happy that he got to earn Soap’s full trust. He felt accepted. He felt like he belonged.
Then he witnesses the only man that fully trusted him squirming on a table in Prague, fighting for his every breath. And he is dying because he decided to save him. Even though all evidence seemed to point towards Yuri being a traitor, Soap sacrificed himself for him. He sees Price’s desperation, he hears his pleas and when Price snaps at him, he accepts his anger. He understands.
When the moment comes to choose between himself, Makarov or Price’s life at Oasis Hotel, he does not hesitate. He was on borrowed time anyways. He was there because Soap allowed it with his sacrifice and now it was time to pay the debt. He jumps Makarov and tries to place his best shot but misses the head. Makarov doesn’t.
Thus, after the war and Soap’s lengthy recovery, they visit Yuri’s grave. One of the patrons of their love. Maybe all he ever wanted was to feel that same kind of love the two soldiers share. But he was given something far more valuable for him. A sense of belonging. A team. A small family. Things he always longed for and looked for, even with the Ultranationalists. He looked for them in Makarov, but he found them where he least expected. First with the Loyalists and later with 141.
They place a candle for him and pray that he can finally rest in peace, with Soap forever grateful that Yuri saved the love of his life. Soap would do it all again for Yuri.

Sirius is free.
In all honesty, he hasn’t planned for it. He hasn’t seen further than killing Peter and getting revenge for James and Lily, truthfully, and now that he’s presented with his freedom, the world seems almost too big.
Still, there’s two things he wants more than the rest, and one has already been given to him; Harry still has a few days before the official end of term, and then he’ll come live with Sirius, as it was always supposed to be.
He’s getting the second now. He is, because he refuses to believe Dumbledore's sad eyes held true, that his words spoke of events already past, that Remus is—
The Lupin cottage, where Remus’ parents retired during the war, is still up and warded carefully. The path is familiar, still, and soon Sirius is knocking at the door; Hope had passed away during this last, horrible year of war, but Lyall is still living here if the gossip in town is to be believed.
He does open the door; he looks so much older, now, like thirty years went by instead of twelve, his eyes tired and his shoulders slouched. Still he judges Sirius with a careful gaze, before stepping back and allowing him space to come in.
“How’s the kid?” he asks, and Sirius remembers painfully the only time Hope and him had managed to visit. Both James and Lily’s parents were dead, but they had been so happy to offer themselves as honorary grandparents, with so much wonder and pride. And now—
“He’s doing okay, mostly.”
Lyall nods. He leads Sirius to the kitchen, and then busies himself making some tea — a habit he passed on to his son.
“Remus tried to get some sort of visitation for Harry, ar first, but Dumbledore said it wasn’t a good idea. That he had to be away from the wizarding world completely.”
Sirius takes the cup offered; there’s something heavy in the house, something he cannot quite place his finger on (something he refuses to place his finger on).
“Where is he?”
Lyall looks at him. There’s something so deeply sad in the features of his face.
Sirius used to wonder if Remus would grow old to look more like his father; in a laugh, he had once said that Remus would be a sexy old man, and his boyfriend had shared this laughter with him.
“I just want to see him,” he says now, and it sounds like a plea he can’t stop.
“Sirius…” Lyall sighs, deep and heavy, his hands tight over his own cup. “After… after everything, Remus… he tried, but it was too much.”
Sirius breathes.
He’s alive and he’s free and he’s Harry’s guardian and he just wants Remus back at his side, like when they were young and a bit stupid but still happy.
“Please,” he whispers. His hands are shaking.
There's a silence. Then, Lyall carefully takes his wrist in his hand, too thin and too pale and too fragile, and as gentle as Remus has always been, he destroys a little more of Sirius’ life.
“I’m sorry, son. Remus is dead.”
