Elsa Kids Room (Availible for Everyone!)

Hello! I was finally able to complete my new set before The Sims 5 came out. I thought I should publish it now before you swear at me. Just kidding. Thank you again and again for your understanding, support and beautiful messages. I love you guys so much. <3

Our set, as the name suggests, is about children. Actually, I don't play with kids in The Sims. (I don't even play in real life. I mean, I like kids, but sometimes they can be very noisy.) But if I want to make a room for children, I want it to be like this. Simple and stylish. It's more simple actually. Our set contains a total of 45 items. Apart from my own creations, I cloned Maxis's books from the game and included them in the set. But I will share it openly in the next post after that. Because I didn't make them, I just converted. Anyways. If we count them, there are 59 items.

The highlight of the set is the bunk beds. Bunk beds came late to The Sims 4, but it was also very nice when they arrived. It's really cool to place other items under the bunk bed. I've also designed suitable items for this. There are items such as seating groups, desk, dreseer / bookcase that you can use with bunk beds. And you can also hang curtains on the bunks if you want. (I didn't use the curtain slot type this time :)

When placing the bunk beds, you need to place the base part according to which side the ladder is on in the bedding part. It also works if you don't place it, but your sim will look strange when climbing a non-ladder side.

Where should I start if i want to get I to the fire emblem series?

this is going to be a pretty biased answer, so... im sorry in advance! this is also a long one, so I'm putting them under a cut.

u have a fair number of options here. All of the ones I'm recommending released in the last decade, mostly because games older than that are NOT friendly to new players due to their difficulty. once u get used to the combat, then 100% some of the older games are fantastic to get into.

ill put them in order of my recommendation, including the new release of engage! i have vastly different reasons for why i may recommend each one.

1) awakening

this one is the beginning of the more "social" games, i.e. the horny chess stuff (cough dating sim). i think this one is the one that's recommended as a "Start Here!" game the most, and for good reason! i absolutely love it for what it is, and it has a good balance of combat, story, and the matchmaking stuff. i recommend this first to anyone who heard of fire emblem's social mechanics and, as a result, wants to dive in. it also has lore that goes back to the very beginning of fire emblem to FE 1. not much, but it does. from here, u can go back and do older games, or keep going and play the newer ones. Either way u'll be happy with the gameplay choices they added in the last decade or u'll enjoy harder combat from before then. this is my 2nd or 3rd favorite FE game!!

2) engage

i am really surprised i'm able to say this game considering it just came out, but it honestly is a really good place to start, unless downgrading in graphics is a big issue. i honestly have nearly no issues with this one—granted I'm not done with it but it's got a bit of romance for the protag, a tone in the story similar to 80% of the other games, REALLY FUN COMBAT, and somehow literally every other protag in the series without spoiling things for other games.

it is also VERY cheesy, maybe even more than normal, and the plot is fairly predictable (as far as I can tell). but cheese is a mainstay in FE games. if that's not up ur alley, prepare to either cringe or relish in anime. i fucking love it lmao

the only complaint i have, and this is literally my only complaint so i am truly nitpicking, is that for some reason like 20% of the girls in this game have vtuber hair that goes down to their ankles, and i don't know why. I don't know why this was a style choice, or if there's a plot reason, or whatever, but a lot of them have it. I don't even have a problem with "toothpaste pepsi mc" anymore. m!Alear is WILDLY endearing to me, but f!Alear's hair is so fucking long. i just. How.

3) shadows of valentia

im probably an outlier in recommending this, but i swear i have a good reason. this is the newest "classic" game because it's a remake of FE 2—i.e. if u don't care about matchmaking or having the protag marry someone of ur choosing, or if u simply wanna get a taste for the older style of games first before going to the games with more stuff to do, then i recommend this one. The story is fantastic, it's fully voice acted with some of THE BEST acting (and also music) I've honestly ever heard. but i am definitely biased since this is my favorite FE game and one of my fav games of all time. however, it really is just combat and story, with a few spare support conversations between characters for the sake of stat boosts (all the romance is canon within the story—can't change a bit about that).

4) three houses

this is the last one out of the "play this first" i'll recommend, because ill be honest, I'm not a fan of 3h's gameplay. I do like many of the characters, I think the serious tone of the game is great, but the gameplay really soured a lot of it for me. There's a calendar system that steamrolls the story so ur mostly just there for the ride as the hours clock by. As well as that, many of the combat skills that other games share with each other aren't a thing in this one, so combat mechanics can be a hard shift going from this game to anything else.

that being said, this is a great place to start if u want a game that will introduce u to the strategy mechanic that also isn't campy, cheesy, filled with anime tropes, whatever. the game is serious, with different routes and loads of choices for matchmaking galore. the only caveat is literally no other game in the franchise is like this. many of the other games are about light & dark and our friends make us strong and My Whole Personality Is About This One Thing. which i personally LOVE. but if that isn't for u, i would start with 3h, get used to the gameplay, warm up to the idea of campiness. and if u still think it's not for u, then great, u played 3 houses and probably enjoyed it a lot and u can wait until a new game comes out that may match the tone.

Gran Turismo 7 accessibility review

Game title: Gran Turismo 7

Age rating: ESRB E 10+, PEGI 3

Multiplayer: 2-player local split-screen multiplayer. Online multiplayer up to 20 players in a game lobby. Online profile photo, nickname, cover photo, about me, default greeting, post race greeting, and social links can all be set.

Genre/theme: Racing simulation, circuit races, rally races, championships, license trials, car collection, car customization, screenshot and photo editing.

Violence: None, aside from causing some occasional minor damage to other racers' cars.

Maturity: No sexuality, nudity, swearing, or drugs & alcohol references. A driving experience gamers of all ages will enjoy.

Difficulty modes: Setting a new standard for accessibility, several assists are on by default when starting a new game, and they remain on until you turn them off, making the game very approachable. After trying out various amounts and levels of assists, I found that most of the starting assists really did help my hands a lot. I eventually turned off the visual displays for the drive line and brake zones, but I kept corner markers displayed on-screen (I don’t have very good depth perception), auto-braking around turns (to save my left hand/arm the stress of constant braking), a little bit of ABS, and some traction control (to decrease the amount of counter-steering needed, especially on dirt tracks and rainy levels).

Even when the braking is set to automatic you can still mess up by going into a turn too fast and skidding off course or crashing, so letting off of the accelerator and doing some light manual braking will still be helpful, you won't literally fly off of the track going around a turn crazy fast like you would with the braking assist turned off. You can get a serious boost in speed if you turn off auto-braking and get good at braking manually in GT7, but I've found it to be much harder on the hands. Several of the assists can be turned way up or way down, or off entirely, giving you the freedom to choose every aspect of the game you'd like to fine-tune to your needs and preferences.

The difficulty mode is set to Normal by default but can be set to either Easy or Hard as well, race prize money is not affected by changing difficulty.

There are unlockable bonus races that aren't required for the main story completion that can range up to 5-chili pepper difficulty level; these almost always have increased tire wear and fuel usage, requiring pit stops during the race.

Complexity: As complex or as simple as you'd like it to be; Gran Turismo 7 can play very casually with several assists on, or it can be a hardcore realistic racing sim, and everything in between. Cars can be incredibly fine-tuned and customized or can be driven stock, but some upgrades will likely be needed for later races and championships, and upgrades generally make the game easier to control.

Instructions, saving, story recap, menus, & waypoints: There is a link to the online manual on the main menu screen. Controls and skills are learned and practiced by playing through the license trials. Menus are mostly pretty easy to navigate and find what you're looking for, but the text size is kinda small. In-game notifications are clear and reliable, creating a marker on which gaming mode area to select for your current goal.

There isn't much of a story beyond collecting cars and winning all the championships, as is true of the Gran Turismo series as a whole.The Cafe is your source of obtaining new goals and rewards, and also offers some brief history about the cars and manufacturers.

In-game notifications can be turned off. Autosaves often, after every race; I had the game crash a time or two and never lost any progress (in earlier builds, they release update patches often). Can turn opening movie and demo off to speed up load time.

Subtitles: Relies entirely on subtitles, the text is fairly small and appears at a medium pace.

Text customization: "Skip conversations using cancel" is the only dialogue option available. Unit of measurement can be switched between mph and kph.

Voice acting: None

Volume settings: Balanced BGM (background music) and sound effects mode, enhanced sound effects mode, race BGM focus mode, menu sound effects level, play race BGM, race BGM level, race sound effects level, replay BGM level, replay sound effects level, music replay volume balance, music replay master volume level, other BGM level, engine sound level, transmission sound level, tire squeals level, rivals engine sound level, broadcast mode, and audio output mode: 2 channel stereo or 7.1 channel surround are all customizeable. In-game notifications for the current song playing pop up in the upper right corner, and songs can be removed from the default playlist.

Photosensitivity: Exposure, color saturation, bright level, and dark level can all be adjusted.

There aren't many flashing lights in the race track environments (primarily on a couple of the road courses in Japan), the main flashing light issue is on the heads-up-display, as it flashes blue, white, and red while shifting gears (the entire heads-up-display can actually be turned off in the in-race settings menu though). Additionally, whichever setting you hover the cursor over in the Settings menu flashes between dark gray and white. Some cars emit a bit of an exhaust flash when shifting up a gear, this is more noticeable on night levels.

These can be remedied a bit by playing in a well-lit room and adjusting screen brightness (TV), backlight (TV), contrast (TV), and color settings (TV). Additionally, wearing blue light lens glasses, tinted lens glasses, or even sunglasses may be helpful.

Motion sickness: Driving in first-person perspective is really accurate with car interiors and is well done but may be too much too for gamers who struggle with fast images/high speeds, I personally found this to be a bit better in third-person camera mode. The camera can be changed with the press of a button, so you could even switch between camera modes several times in a race if different perspectives on certain turns or lighting areas are easier for you. There are four camera angles to choose from: third person (behind the vehicle and up about 25–30 degrees), first person, dash-cam, and front of the car. The sideposts and lamp posts blend together in a slightly disorienting way on particularly fast tracks/driving fast cars, but this can be remedied by placing your eyes’ focal point directly in front of the car.

Colorblindness settings: Color saturation can be customized, but no colorblind mode.

Controller rumble: Yes, vibration level can be customized or turned off entirely.

Remappable controls: 100%, every button can be remapped.

Quick-time events: None, aside from timed starts and early start penalties on some of the tougher races.

Physical impact: Low with assists on, moderate with all assists turned off. I haven't tried this game with a racing wheel or wheel + pedals setup. There are lengthy optional endurance races you can take on, which I found to be too fatiguing and painful, but completing these isn't necessary.

I played through the game on Playstation 4, but a friend of mine who played through it on Playstation 5 messaged me after reading this review to let me know that the Playstation 5 Dualsense controller caused him some additional pain and fatigue due to the controller's adjustable trigger tension level. Thankfully, the trigger tension can be turned down or off entirely to relieve this.

Adaptability and input: To play one-handed, a racing wheel + pedals setup will likely be needed. Historical Simblr Tag Game

I've seen this tag game floating around my dash a lot lately! So I decided to give it a try. Answers below the cut! 💖

1. What has been your favorite time period to play in or which one are you most excited for?

If you can't tell from my story, I love love love the aesthetic of the 1920s. In my first attempt at a legacy, the 20s was the most fun to play, and I can't wait to make it there in my new legacy!!

2. Do you have a favorite piece of historical cc? (CAS or BB)

So much. Basically everything by @gilded-ghosts and @happylifesims.

3. Who is your favorite sim currently?

My new legacy starter, Ottilia. I love the story I created for her so far and I can't wait to share it!

4. What is your favorite world?

Windenburg for sure. I love the style of old town, I love the countryside, I love the island (which is where I'm building my school of magic), and the bluffs is probably one of my favorite lots ever, just for the view. Henford and Brindleton Bay come in close second though!

5. Are you more gameplay or story focused?

Since I'm a writer I tend to gravitate more toward stories; I do like keeping it simple with gameplay sometimes, but I also feel like it's missing a lot of the drama and depth that I crave, so I like to take gameplay and either direct it or embellish it.

6. Do you like to play with pets in your historical saves?

I try but dying pets makes me so so sad! Way more sad than when my sims die lmao.

7. What's your biggest immersion breaking pet peeve with the game?

Anything to do with their cell phone. I have a mod that disables them from playing with it randomly, but I hate the calls and texts they get!

8. What's your favorite in-game historical item? (CAS or BB)

The laundry washbasin for sure (and the clothesline). Laundry Day is already one of my fave packs and I love that they incorporated non-electric ways of washing/drying clothes.

9. What would you like to see as a new pack or asset to the game?

This is silly but. A freakin teapot that's not an appliance. Even just the tea set already in game made functional (I swear there used to be a mod for this but I've searched high and low and can't find it anymore). Let my fancy Victorian ladies drink tea!!!!

10. What pack do you think is invaluable as a historical simmer?

Definitely Cottage Living. Before that I would have said Get Together, just for the world and the build/buy objects.

11. Do you have a favorite mod to enhance historical gameplay?

The Timeless mod. I know it hasn't been updated in a while, but the reason my favorite lot is the bluffs in Windenburg is because the Timeless mod makes it SO perfect by removing all the DJ stuff. It's just a cliff and a bonfire and an old pond and a view of the sea ♥

12. What's your ideal family size for playing?

Probably 4-5. I've had a couple 1 sim families recently and they bore me to tears without fail every time. For a legacy, 1-3 kids is a sweet spot.

13. Do you use poses?

I used to not use poses in my legacy but I'm trying to use them more now to integrate more storytelling!

14. Do you use any overrides in your game?

The override for books that @moon-simmers just put out is *CHEF'S KISS*. I also use a clothesline clothes override, and default skin/eyes of course.

15. Do you, or did you, play off-the-grid during your game?

I didn't in my first legacy, but I never tried it before so I'm doing it in my new legacy! It's surprisingly difficult but really fun!

16. What lifespan do you play on?

Okay this is gonna be controversial but I used to play on short, because I was afraid I would get bored with the legacy before I could get very far. The downside was that I never felt like any of my sims were very well developed before I had to say goodbye to them. So for my new legacy I'm going to play on normal and see where that takes me.

17. What inspired you to start playing historically?

I started playing a historical legacy back in my TS3 days because I liked the cc clothes and the architecture and I wanted to challenge myself. Also because someone released a Riverview edit called Jefferson that was empty and historical-themed, so I thought it would be fun to start a farm/historical legacy there. Then when I bought TS4, I found the Upgrowth Challenge, then decided to make a tumblr, and now seeing all the decades challenges on my dash has inspired me to start my own!

heya, I would really like a match up if it's not a bother! :3

I'm a trans masc polyromantic asexual who uses he/him pronouns and is questioning his romantic orientation. The only thing I know about it for sure is that I'm demiromantic.

Anyway, I'm a pretty open, creative person or try to be, even though it's pretty hard with my social anxiety. When I overcome my fears and feel comfortable with friends, I'm very energetic and loud with a very stupid humour XD I also play an instrument (the flute lol), like to practice art, read and write things like storys or poems and play videogames! The most current video games that I play are stuff like Stardew Valley, Minecraft, Animal crossing and Sims 4, but if I would have the money I would definitely also play doom or similar. Flaws of mine are my huge insecurities and me being a people pleaser who always puts others needs over his. I also have the bad habit of bottling up my emotions due to past trauma and mental illness, what lead to me being so distanced of emotions that I feel uncomfortable near highly emotional people.

I would like an significant other to be at least somewhat understanding and being able to deal with my abandonment anxiety and constant need for reassurance, they also should be able to laugh with me over the stupidest shit and open to just enjoying the presence of each other while both do their own thing, especially when my social battery runs out. Things I hate in people are arrogance, ignorance and not willing to communicate properly because I think communication is the most important thing!

Okay, I'm sorry it got so long, I'm almost done I promise ;-;

Deal-breakers would be not being able to communicate, overstepping boundaries and purposefull triggering, anything else doesn't come to mind :)

The choice was quite complicated! There's a lot of people you could have had : UT Sans, UT Papyrus, OT Sans or even Ink. But one got a better score with two more points and it's....

He's also very creative, energetic and loud, despite being a little shy at first. He has bad social anxiety too due to past traumas and his entire relationship is based on communication. After what he lived with Sans, he has a need to know when something is wrong. Delta is a good listener too and his advices are usually very pertinent. He is highly empathic, sometimes emotional. He is kind, gentle, patient, and knows when he needs to shut up or give space to someone.

He's a very supportive boyfriend and loves culture. He doesn't like reading very much, but music is more his thing. He likes to give motivationnal tips to help you getting inspired, even if he can be a little playful if you're ignoring him for too long. He's a casual video games player, and matches your interests since he likes peaceful games where you can build things.

He always find the good words when you need reassurance or when you have insecurities. He tries his best to be here for you and he is happy when you're happy. He doesn't even ask anything in return, he thinks it's just a normal thing to do and he doesn't want to be a bother with his story.

He's not good with arrogant people either, so it's fine on this point. He can sometimes be ignorant, but he loves to learn new things and can get funnily really exciting about details. He's less close minded that the classic version on humor, and if you're really pushing him, he can let go really good puns too. He likes birds and spicy food, even if they are not his favorite, and he has things to make you discover too. However, he's really observant, and if you're really passionate about birds, he might surprise you with safaris and nice spots when you can watch them.

He's a nice peaceful guy and he will be happy to share some time with you!

Sim Dump #4.1 - Downtown Residents Series - The Big Fish in a Little Pond

Goodies below the cut!

Okay, I admit....The title of this post is a bit extra. BUT! I swear it makes sense in relation to my personal story for this family, and how they fit into the bigger picture of Downtown.

To sum up that story, they're roughly the third richest family in my Downtown, and they have a lot of say in city affairs. They're also the second largest family in my Downtown coming in right after the Tricous, so the title is also a bit of a pun.

Now that I've explained the title, let's jump into the actual relevant content for this post!

I might have to release this family in two parts (We'll see after I write this post)... There are 11 sims in this dump if you count the bonus sim included! - Spoiler: I do have to release them in 2 parts...thanks 10 image limit....

*The bonus sim, while not technically a Downtown resident herself, is related to this family.

As per usual...actually not technically the usual....These sims are packaged with minimal CC. They all have geneticized skin and eyes.

Too many of the sims in this dump fall outside of the normal Skins 1-4 spectrum, and my default Skin 1 was like 3 times too dark for the lighter sims, so I included their geneticized skins. And because I was having some issues with bodyshop their eyes are also included.

But because these sims are packaged with geneticized skin and eyes, it is STRONGLY recommended that you use Clean Installer to install them, just to ensure you aren't installing duplicate skins or eyes. Furthermore, I can't guarantee these sims will look normal without their skins at the very least. So that's something to keep in mind...You don't have to install the eyes, but I strongly recommend you install the skins. Any CC included outside of the skins and eyes are complete accidents though.

But I've rambled on for too long....so....

It's time for the first sim!

Sim 1: Ambrose Van Buren

Ambrose is the patriarch of the Van Buren clan. He is packaged as an Adult, with his geneticized skin. He's the one sim I was able to change the eyes on, so he should just use your default eyes.

Because I was having issues with bodyshop, I couldn't get preview pics easily, so the pictures here are the only previews included this time.

Suggested Aspiration: Fortune

(this is a new thing I'm starting with the sim dumps!, listing their aspirations in my game just to give a bit of an idea of how I see them. Feel free to give them any aspiration though, this is just what their aspirations in my game are.)

Sim 2: Margot Van Buren

You'll notice a trend with some of the female sims in this series...a lot of them look pretty young. Margot here is technically supposed to be nearing her elder stage but she looks younger than her Adult daughters. But I digress.

Margot is Ambrose's wife, and the mother of all of the Van Buren kids...though kids isn't exactly an appropriate term because 4 out of 6 are adults....

She is packaged as an Adult, with her skin and eyes. Her makeup is also styled based on my defaults, but she does use a face paint so be informed of that.

Suggested Aspiration: Family

Sim 3: Sullivan Van Buren

As I was saying about Adult children....Sullivan here is Ambrose and Margot's firstborn son, and set to be the heir to the Van Buren fortune and legacy. He's also a romance sim, and that's a big part of his story. Obviously you can do whatever you want with him though! Just take good care of him.

He is packaged as an Adult, with his geneticized skin and eyes.

Suggested Aspiration: Romance

Sim 4: Rosalie Van Buren

Rosalie is Ambrose and Margot's oldest daughter and third child. And while there's a lot to say about her, I don't want to spoil something that is to come later.

She is packaged as an Adult, with her geneticized skin and eyes.

Suggested Aspiration: Pleasure

Sim 5: Cybil Van Buren

Cybil is Ambrose and Margot's second daughter and fourth child. She's a bit of a black sheep, and while the rest of her family are all Fortune, Popularity, or Pleasure centered (aside from Margot) she's more of a Knowledge kind of sim.

She is also packaged as an Adult, with her geneticized skin and eyes.

Suggested Aspiration: Knowledge

Sim 7: Ramona Van Buren

Ramona is Ambrose and Margot's youngest daughter and second youngest child.

She is packaged as a Teenager, with her geneticized skin and eyes. I included an adult picture of her as well.

The Van Burens have definitely had an impact in overrunning downtown with red-heads as you can see. I also seem to make a lot of red-haired sims for some reason....so it's at least partially my fault.

Suggested Aspiration: Pleasure or Popularity (she's currently Pleasure in my game as a teen, but I change aspirations when sims age into adults so she might become Popularity.)

Sim 8: Evander Van Buren

Evander is the youngest and last child of Ambrose and Margot.

He is packaged as a Child, with his geneticized skin and eyes. I also included a picture of him as an Adult.

Suggested Aspiration: Family or Knowledge

I haven't yet decided what aspiration to give him as a Teen or Adult, but I'm leaning more towards the two listed as potential options...

Anyways, all this to say, is that the online Sims community has been super helpful to me and I am constantly inspired by the creativity of all the creators, I am finally, truly living my best Sims life lmao.

I started playing Sims 2 in like 2006-2007 after loving the sims 1 so much.

My knowledge of playing the Sims was incredibly limited lol. I just knew to download cc and make them die.

When Tumblr and other Sim blogs started happening, I'd see all of these gorgeous pics and just chalked it all up to photoshop (which is a heavy hand.)

I completely thought it was normal it took my game 1+hours to load, and that it would frequently crash because I'm just a cc addict haha.

I did not organize my downloads, or choose anything really lol. It was very much like "Oh yeah? This is available SURE!"

Do you know how many uhhjklll (or whatever it's called) files I had in my downloads? Or those random 2347889780a97898n2398.package files I kept in that folder?????? Didn't even know that I was not meant to keep those, I just assumed they were part of SOMETHING I downloaded from one of the many lots I also hoovered up.

Oh and deleting all the lot bin houses? YUP I did that every time I would reinstall the game to "fix" it.

I swear it wasn't until 2012 that I discovered OSMPs. It was 2013 when I discovered boolprop snapobjectstogrid false.

It was 2017 when I discovered that recolour tool so I could flip through a catalogue of recolours instead of just manually placing, clicking and then deleting each time.

In the past decades there were many Sims breaks (mainly due to the annoyance of constant crashing + load times + constant lag)

When my laptop died, I was forced to get a new computer, it was during the Jean Claude Pan Demme, and I was like alright, let's give this Sims thing a try again, after mourning the loss of my corrupted, bloated, duplicate having, unorganized, special characters galore downloads and savedsims folder.

But I was excited because now I could organize my CC finally!!!! And then I discovered defaults and learnt how many new mods this game has.

I mean it wasn't until the like 2 months ago when I learnt how to actually install reshade. I kid you not, I just chucked that .ini file into the appropriate folder and was like "Yeah it does look a bit brighter, I wonder what photo actions they used to get that crispness and the blur though"

I mean, I technically could have moved onto Sims 3 or Sims 4 whenever, especially when I got my new computer but I just never felt like I ever completely played the Sims 2 to it's fullest extent, so I couldn't move on.

Like all I ever got to do was makeover a few Sims after multiple crashes and hour long relaunches. I'd decorate a house or two. Have a very, very brief game play period before inevitable crashing.

Anyways, all this to say, is that the online Sims community has been super helpful to me and I am constantly inspired by the creativity of all the creators, I am finally, truly living my best Sims life lmao.

Some more general DT info, before my next major devlog.

hey, it is dog. i’ve been chatting with a few fans recently and the same questions came up in each conversation when I mentioned DT and i guess that’s on me for not specifying. I already have some good material for the big December devlog, but I guess I might as well tease a bit here. I’ll make direct comparisons to DSaF each question, because it’s good point of comparison, sharing a genre AND creator. “Is there a hidden/dark story in DT, like there was in DSaF?” Sorta! Obviously, DSaF built off FNaF’s lore, so things like murder and possession were part ‘n’ parcel. DT doesn’t have intense human tragedy in the forefront, murder, or hell, any paranormal elements (okay, that’s a blatant lie.) There is lore, including character stuff AND why the world is the way it is (aka, where the phones came from.) I even hired a professional voice actor for one important cameo character! It’s exciting, and I’m genuinely proud of the story I’m telling. There are a few hidden things, but it wouldn’t be very hidden if I gave clues out this early in the game, eh?? If you liked DSaF’s story/characters, DT’s will appeal to you nicely. “How big is the game?” Good question. It took my testers an average of 3 hours to finish the first route to completion (to any of the main endings) and then about 4-5 hours total to do that, and then backtrack to get all endings. For that one route. So, the game WILL be larger than all three DSaF’s. (It’s comparable to 3 atm!) “So, does each route have different endings?” Sure does! First route has 6, I believe, second route is set to have about the same. Feel free to extrapolate from there! Game has 3 chapters, chapter 1 is about 50% done total. “When is the game gonna come out?” Full game? 2020, I reckon. Demo’s comin’ early 2020! The demo has three routes (up until the end of the funfair dates.) So far, route 1 is 100% and route 2 is about 50% (with all of the demo content completed) so the demo content is 2/3 completed. It’ll be coming in a few months! “Is the game freeroam, or linear, like most dating sims?” It’s similar to DSaF in terms of navigation. Parts of the story are linear with choices that change where the plot goes, but there’s a free roam hub at the beginning. Dialtown itself can be explored like the restaurants in DSaF, just a bit bigger/more detailed. There’s about 7 detailed npcs you can find around town atm (10 if you count the first few dateable npcs, which can be found regardless of whether or not you’re dating them!) “Are there RPG elements, like stats, battles?” Nope! It’s just dialogue, roaming, making choices. There’s less of an emphasis on mechanic experimentation and more an emphasis on visuals, like moving things on screen, animations, etc. DSaF’s RPG elements felt tacked on at best and intrusive at worst and needed work to be fleshed out further.. which it never got. I’m focusing on what I’m good at. (There MAY be an action sequence with timing later on, we’ll see!)

“Are there lewd elements/imagery?” There is lewd dialogue, but no nudity. Again, like most of these answers: if you’ve played DSaF, you know what to expect.

“Are there DSaF callbacks?” Yep! There’s two big ones and a few very minor references strewn about. I love doin’ callbacks so amongst the endless references in DT, DSaF has a couple.

“I’m not fixed on it being a dating sim, I don’t normally play those.” Not a question, but fair. Yeah, I don’t play dating sims either. It DOES have dating, and mushy dialogue if you wanna choose it, but you can also treat everyone like shit and enjoy endings such as: you falling from a fence, shitting yourself and promptly dying. It’s not... romantic in the way people might be expecting. Plus ALL routes have a major plot-line running in the background that isn’t romantic, so you can basically play as a complete asshole. You don’t have to actually fall in love, irl.

1. What’s my favorite color? Gray. Grey? (Who am I kidding English isn’t my native language). I’m boring like that I guess. 

2. Song currently stuck in my head? Honestly, anything Hadestown or Great Comet related (or Grace McLean because she is the love of my life), however on a different note the song ‘The Rock’ by Harry Chapin is a masterpiece.

3. Most recent thing I’ve bought? Takeout for my brother, he is a 17 y/o moron but what’s new.

4. Zodiac sign? The Eeyore of signs: Capricorn. (A proud one at that so shh)

5. Place I hope to visit someday? Iceland, Norway, South Africa, Russia, USA, Scotland and Ireland just to name a few.

6. Looking forward to? Graduating, graduating and graduating. Have I mentioned how thrilled I am to be getting the hell out? (Also if I manage to get into med school that would be great)

7. Fears? Anything and everything? Like, is that even possible? I am so terrified of the future. I know what I want and what to do with my life but getting there just scares the living hell out of me.

8. Anxieties? Again, the phrase opening the umbrella before seeing the storm is relevant in this scenario. I stress about how stressed I am going to be when I don’t have things to stress about which is not very often might I add.

9. Working on anything? Fanfiction-wise? No. Academic work? You have no idea. I do the IB: I am practically a masochist.

10. Favorite holiday? I don’t live in a Christian country so our holidays are vastly different but I guess the concept of New Year is neutral and I love it.

11. Hours of sleep? Again, refer to question 9; I don’t sleep. I am the most sleepy person I know though so, I could sleep on hours at an end if given the chance.

15. Snow? I was born in December, I physically cannot not love and adore snow.

Okay Anon first of all I’m trash because I told you I would have this out the day you asked it and I totally didn’t so I’m sorry I don’t even know if you’re going to see this. 😩 But you need to know that THIS IS MY MOST FAVORITE QUESTION I HAVE EVER BEEN ASKED AND I LOVE YOU A LOT. 

Anyway, I have a lot to say about this and here’s what I’m gonna say first - there’s a lot of layers to this question so let me just... write a novel. 

Important Note #1: I don’t know that you necessarily want to consider me some kind of expert on otoge with adult MCs. My favorite VN of all time is not an otome game and it is also not with a “mature MC”... you play as a 16-year old boy in Fate/Stay Night. But it’s such a good VN, if you can find it I totally recommend it. I will rave about it for DAYS so if you also want an essay about that please let me know. 

Important Note #2: Some little, technical things... - there is a difference between “mature MC” and “older MC” so I’m gonna kinda do a mix of both... but also going to include “older suitors” or “suitors with no canon age” in this criteria as well.  - I prefer PC games to mobile games but play mobile more often due to convenience... -I own a lot of games that I’m super interested in and have actually never gotten around to playing because I have both a time management problem and a shopping problem. So there are probably some even better choices than what I’m about to list from personal experience and maybe I’ll just come back and update this in a few months.  Moving on...  Here are my current top favorite VNs (otoge or not):  1. Fate/Stay Night (PC) 2. When the Night Comes (PC)   3. The Arcana (Mobile) 4. Amnesia (PC and Mobile) 5. Mystic Code (Mobile) My favorite mobile VNs:  I’m gonna tell you right now this list is gonna change on July 1st when Ikemen Vampire comes out... watch that immediately jump to the #2 spot but as of right now I haven’t played it so I can’t do that.  1. The Arcana 2. Ikemen Revolution 3. Mystic Code 4. Mystic Messenger (this is iffy to call this a VN in my opinion but VNDB lists it so I’m going go with it) 5.  Mysterious Forum and 7 Rumors  My favorite PC VNs (otoge or not): This list is a big oof to be honest because there are so many games I am really interested in but haven’t yet played. For example, I have 20+ unplayed games in my Steam library right now.  1. Fate/Stay Night 2. When the Night Comes 3. Amnesia: Memories  4. Higurashi no Naku Koro ni 5. Cinderella Phenomenon  Now those are my favorites, but here instead are my actual recommendations for you personally Anon:  Recommendations for VNs with a More Mature MC:  1. When the Night Comes (PC, Free to Play) I absolutely adore this VN. It is the best otoge/dating sim I have ever played (thus far). But that’s because it caters to a lot of my interests - it’s definitely not going to hit the mark for everyone! The MC has no canon age or gender. You can date a human, witches, a vampire, a Lycan, and a demon. There are even two route options for poly romance. THE WRITING IS PHENOMENAL. I mean the story is great, yes, but THE FUCKING LANGUAGE is totally everything I love. It is very snarky, witty, and British. Swearing in places one would swear in real life. Sarcastic, “roll my eyes at myself” jokes that one would make in real life. Things are dark but with a sliver of hope. MC is a fucking badass and very much a mature adult. It’s currently being updated monthly (chapter 8 comes out tomorrow - 6/29) so we only have two more months left and then we’re done :( 2. The Arcana (Mobile, Free to Play, with Premium Options)  Please be cautious when interacting with this fandom, especially right now. But besides that warning, The Arcana is amazing. It is also currently still updating. But the MC again has no canon age nor gender. And as a plus, as far as I am aware, the suitors do not have canon ages as well. I wish all games would have no canon suitor ages but I digress. The story sorta starts as a murder mystery but evolves into something much more. It is magical. It incorporates tarot so well. The art is absolutely gorgeous. The MC is not at all helpless and definitely holds their own. 

3. Cinderella Phenomenon (PC, Free to Play)   Okay so MC in this one is NOT an adult. She’s 17, I believe. But she’s a bitch and I love her. I genuinely love the plot of this VN. The art is very pretty - very art nouveau. If you like twists on fairy tails, some snark, and a story of... uh, learning how to be less of a bitch ... this one is a great play! 

4. Mystic Code (Mobile, Free to Play, with Premium Options) I’m not gonna elaborate on this here since Anon already knows about it but I want to remind people reading this that I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS VN... I believe it is the best game to come out on mobile thus far this year.  5. Love Tangle in the Niflheim+ (Mobile, Free to Play with Premium Options, Abandoned)  So... normally I would never recommend a Shall We Date game as a top choice, however, this game is SWD’s only exception. It, of course, has the god awful mechanics that all SWD games have, which could make it a bit annoying to play. This game has also unfortunately been abandoned by SWD so there are NO updates to it. Luckily, all the routes (save for one, I’m pretty sure they were planning to release Sunny’s route prior to abandoning) are out and in full. MC has no canon age and it doesn’t matter because she’s fucking dead. Your suitors are also dead. This is the best premise of a fucking story I have ever seen. As with most SWD games, the writing is a hit or a miss depending on the route, but the MC is mature and strong-willed - never helpless. (One thing I will give SWD is they tend to write their MCs with a bit of *bite* in them.) The writing has some well-timed comedic moments so it definitely keeps you entertained!! I originally started playing just for the novelty of it but I actually genuinely love it. Plus MC has the best hair of all the MCs I have ever seen. 

Additionally, I recommend both Ikemen Sengoku and Ikemen Revolution (Mobile, FTP w/ Premium Options). The MC usually has her shit together although she does have her moments of “oh no baby what is you doing?” And in both games, she’s a young adult, not anywhere near 30 but I still find I have no problem self-inserting.  Other games:  -  Hustle Cat (PC, $) - I have yet to play, but it was recommended to me by two people I trust when it comes to these types of games. It seems to be geared toward adults and as far as I am aware, MC is customizable in not only pronouns but build as well.  - Mr. Love Queen’s Choice (Mobile, mostly FTP) - I do play this and I enjoy it. I wouldn’t really recommend it for a “mature” MC (even though she is a young adult who runs a company), but I mod a MLQC discord server and noticed a lot of our members are in the late 20s-30s. So obviously this game appeals to an “older” market (har har, I just mean “older” than 21). It’s a VN at its core, but it’s got so much extra shit going on that it can be overwhelming unless you like those sort of games. The story part of it is really, really good. And the MC gets equal time with all the suitors (instead of specifically just choosing one route to date).  - Food Fantasy (Mobile, mostly FTP) - this isn’t a VN and I don’t think it’s technically an otoge either- it’s a JRPG-  but oh my goodness the art is fucking gorgeous, and the backstory that sets up the game is WILD, dark, and deep. It blew my mind. It’s cute! So I had to throw it in here in case you were looking for something fun. :)  And finally, VNs on my “To-Play” List:  - Ikemen Vampire (Mobile) - this is coming out in just a few days and I have been waiting for 8 months, so I’m super stoked! - Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly (PC and Vita, $) - The House in Fata Morgana (PC, $) - Clannad (PC, $$)  - Tokyo Debunker (Mobile) - as far as I know there’s no official release date yet, unfortunately! :(  Anyway please message me more if you have any more questions or want to know anything else, I love this shit thank you!!!  9/10 - I'm giving this much of a high score because I would play practically almost all of these games showcased (they’ll probably be available on PC which I’m biased for cuz I have a gaming PC), no kidding, I pretty much liked everything I saw and it was fairly straight to the point. Many gamers don’t appreciate the finer details of each game and think they’re generic but that’s just fanboys who haven’t played a single game outside of their favorites. 

Also my cousin uses those Xbox One netflix rip offs that gives you games so i’m happy for him. The presentation had a lot of diamonds in the rough games that will I will probably appreciate more over time (they might even become cult classics like Metro or Dying Light) than any of other games at other e3s. As for the stuff I won’t be playing: It’s mostly harmless so eh.

There was an abundance of trailers! It was like one after the other, pure goodness, it seems as if they left out all of the Sports games to EA to present and the only thing they showed that might not be anyone’s cup of tea was “Forza”, but honestly? I appreciate it, it seems like a good racing game even if I’m not one to buy racing games.... But the more you think about the number of good games presented, the less you’ll think about that, I mean they showed DEVIL MAY CRY 5!!! 

...The Funko Pop game made me scream though.

Bethesda: 

8.5/10  I cannot deny that these are games I will want to play regardless if they’re good or not. Sad to see nerds not enjoy the opportunity to meet ANDREW W.K. but I’m glad all of the divisions they own are making sequels to stuff I already like, so pretty much Bethesda played it safe.

Devolver Digital:

 8/10 It’s like that one b-movie film your college students made and you had a laugh with creating.

Square Enix: 

5/10 seriously, 30 minues of just trailers? Most of which we saw?? I guess it could be worse but who uses E3 screentime for mostly MMORPG deals! The new stuff was too vague to be excited about too.

Ubisoft: 

7/10 - I liked it when they made funny quirky things and their games are probably gonna be okay like usual, Ubisoft has dedicated fans that like their collectathon games they release every year, and it’s usually that one game you play when you’re bored and got nothing else, it’s okay. 

Gamers hate fun and dancing and all that stuff but I kind of find stuff like that exciting, while nerds who never went outside and who are sensitive as all hell to any representation of fun find it “cringey”. A panda dabbed, and that settles it, Ubisoft was the only E3 Brave enough to dab this year. 

PC Game Conference (it was fairly long):

I know none of you watch this one cuz y’all fake as hell but listen... Fuck you LOL, these are the type of games people actually play over 400 hours and really get people’s money. Like these are games built to last that might be on the best-selling Steam front page for MONTHS, like how Frostpunk was comfirmed last year during this conference, PC Gaming has been known for sleeper hits that nobody knows about (because the attention goes to cinematic experiences on consoles most of the time) but suddently everyone’s playing it. 

PC gaming has always been an alternative lifestyle and seeing as many people didn’t watch this one, that just proves the point that it still relatively alternative. Maybe it’s because everyone sounds dumb as fuck when saying “PC GAMER MASTER RACE” and acting like an elitist. 

The PC Gaming conference is always more of a talk show than a regular E3 which is why I respect it every year, fuck the hyperactive gamers that just wanna see flashy trailers, this one’s more SOPHISTICATED!! It feels a lot more human and less artificial. Either way, lot’s of what you might’ve expected: Simulators and Survival games you’ll probably spend 3 years playing until they make a better minecraft clone. 

Gamers like to act as if they’re tired of Battle Royale (already? It’s a new fad it still is here to stay for a little more) but the numbers and success of it doesn’t lie that it isn’t a fad that proves itself to be highly tempting to try out for developers. Go cry to valve that they didn’t release Half-Life 3 cuz you haven’t played any other FPS game without even researching that Valve pretty much fired all of it’s developers and you’re just being annoying.

I feel as if I need to comment what I saw at this e3 cuz nobody watched, they made a mod I liked from skyrim into a fully-ass game, they’re rebooting Star Control which not a single gamer today knows of, the HP Lovecraft open world detective game also seems very good. YAKUZA IS COMING TO PC!!!!!!!!! Killing Floor 2 stuff, Road Redemption stuff, SHARK RPG, cute indie games, Jeff Goldblum was there, Wall-E with a gun in VR which seems to have promissing good vr design by Insomiac games (yes the spyro people), 2 games about Taxi driving... Like sure I think it’s a good format for story telling but.

A cell-shaded art game, star citizen is still being made, and it’s gone to the point nobody really wants it anymore even if it’s... Still being made you know? So most guys are wrong that it was gonna be canceled. After that was the technical graphic card stuff which gamers don’t have enough capability to understand, stuff like 9k laptops that SELL a lot mind you. Rich people love that technical stuff. 

A space defense sim game, Don’t Starve Sequel, Just Cause 4 detailed explanation of the engine, Overkill’s The Walking Dead gameplay which has been in development hell for years now now has a release date, I discovered Clementine’s voice actor is white... Go figure, a literal pixelated roguelike (not what you think it is, it’s Noita), 

Theme Hospital REBOOT!!!! YES!!!!!!!!! And the doctors were cute. Probably one of the funniest games presented... Followed by REALM ROYALE HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. That harvest moon clone with a cute art style is still being made: Ooblets, no release date sadly. Anno is still going, cyanide and happiness still exists? and they’re making a battle royale? lol okay. How was Hitman 2 not announced during Square Enix?? Anyways it’s here at the end, the trailer was amazing and it’s coming out this year. 

I don’t have that much strong feelings because it’s just a normal conference and not a special one you know? But I’ll give it a 8/10 or 7/10 im not sure cuz I seem to like most games and I found Frankie cute.

Sony: 

Yo usually Sony makes like a huuuuuuuge thing about their conferences (like this year they didn’t even showcase indie games) but this year they started from a church for the sake of immersion?? It reminded me a little of their first E3s during the 90s, and it almost felt like a indie gathering for musicians, I swear to god, Sony is borderline experimental trying to balance out their E3 across stages. Jeb played the banjo and people just ACCEPTED it... AND THEN someone played some JAPANESE FLUTE? aRT. It might come off as a bit arrogant for some tho.

Nerds hated it and thought it was bizzare, which is why it means it’s good. HAPPY PRIDE MONTH BITCHES. Anyways could have been a little more fast-paced... But then again when it was fast-paced it was just like: Huh? What was that? I’m a big Resident Evil Fangirl, RE2 was my childhood but ignoring that for a sec: finally, Death Stranding gameplay, remins me of shadow of the colossus but post-apocalpytic, survival horrorish and abstract sci-fi.

 Kind of feels more Metal Gear than MGSV did already Cuz Norman Reedus sounds like snake a lot more than the 24 hours guy, and because from what I’ve seen in the footage, someone acts like Otacon to “Sam”. I think most now can figure out the plotpoints of this game with what has been established. I might be a bit sad at the fact that this will be a PS4 exclusive just like Metal Gear Solid 4, which I still haven’t played fully because it’s PS3 exclusive and I only have a gaming PC. 

Also this E3 was surprisingly entirely SINGLE PLAYER, I sorta don’t believe in the “single player doesn’t exist” myth honestly, especially now. I’m not sure if that makes Sony’s E3 better or worse, maybe it needed more variation, like I’ve commented, usually they have an indie showcase which this year did not. There were few games shown but for what it was worth, it’s still interesting... But yeah just 5 games? No Spyro? (easy picking), nothing extra? I can understand why many people felt this E3 was upsetting.

Nintendo

Here it is, the most overhyped developer of all of E3, the source of “Nintendo wins E3 by doing nothing” memes because Nintendo fans really don’t care about anything except Nintendo and then act surprised when they only care about Nintendo when they try to be a little more open-minded (and fail) even if other E3s probably make more games built to last in comparisson, cuz we gay people only care about NINTENDO YOU KNOW? Shade asside... 

I was pleasantly surprised this E3, it wasn’t just a series of okay at best releases, a strong 9/10.

BUT THEN???? IT WAS JUST THAT??? NO PRIME 4 NO ANYTHING LIKE JUST 3 GAMES BASICALLY? (maybe there was 5 games but eh) I mean smash is good.. It’s pretty much just an update of the last smash, every character is REALLY FUCKING GOOD BUT.... JUST THAT? jeez.. Like, the only stuff I wanted from it was Mario Party and Smash... Okay maybe that 1 Mecha game. Also I guess fornite is now on Switch but I can play that anywhere else really.

I guess a 7/10 is all I can give to just Smash, if there was a little more I’d give it a 9/10 for sure but... ehh Just Smash? jeez, fuck... i MEAN I kind of get it, Nintendo doesn’t do “e3″ normally, they usually do 1 big game at E3 and then wait a couple of months to do that little seasonal announcement thing they do across the year, ugh.. Okay. Yeah I guess i shouldn’t have expected much. Still isn’t it weird that Miyamoto was in Ubisoft’s E3 but not this one??? what!
