Headcanon

As a person who never actually read the books but spend too much time on this fandom, I headcanon that:

The marauders were hypocrites, bc Sirius and Remus were """secretly""" dating, but they still made fun of Severus for being feminine and later on for being bissexual.

Lucius and Narcissa earned the spot as the "prettiest couple" in the yearbook for almost 3 years in a roll, that until James and Lily started dating.

Lucius swears that if they came out as a trouble with Sev they would get that spot back. That always makes Cissa giggle and Sev blush.

By the way, they're a trouple.

More like, Lucius and Narcissa are dating bc their families want them to, but have more of a platonic relationship while Severus and Lucius are secretly dating. Narcissa supports them with all her heart.

They know about The Half-Blood Prince book, as Severus was really putting effort on it and was very proud.

Lucius nicknamed Sev as "my Prince" and sometimes he even makes a small bow, just to make Sev blush.

When Narcissa got pregnant with Draco, they panicked b they didn't know if the kid was Lucius' or Severus'. Luckily, Draco was born with Lucius' white hair. If he has Sev's dark hair, they were going to say that it was bc Narcissa was a Black.

Both Narcissa and Lucius presented Severus as a pureblood from the Prince House to their parents. The lie didn't last long, but it was good while it lasted.

When they found out about Severus' abusive home life, they really decided to spoil him, taking him to expensive restaurants and parties.

Once, they asked Severus what brands were considered luxury in the Muggle world and Severus made them buy Prada cuz the Devil Wears Prada. Lucius and Narcissa never got the joke.

Narcissa brought Lucius and Severus "Prince" to a family dinner (the kids were allowed two companions). Sirius brought James and Petter. That was an awkward dinner, but most of the adults were mad at Sirius for bringing two Gryffindors.

Also, Narcissa hates Sirius, not for being a Gryffindor (that as well), but for being a Marauder and a sadistic bully. She makes his family life as miserable as possible.

Actually, Sirius and Bellatrix were not so different. She was also a sadistic bully, but she aimed muggle borns.

Oh Little Angel's Family: the one I keep forgetting. Supernatural, it's about family feels among the angels (especially the archangels and Castiel) and isn't canon-compliant in the slightest. I think it diverges from canon at s4. It has an attempt to plot in it, it has. Anyway it's written in french and Michael is called Michel in it.

Not home: an Outer Worlds game character-study(ish) fic about the Captain being an outsider. Do not be fooled by the english title, it's written in french.

Star Wars. I've written many a fic of Star Wars stuff starring the Codywan ship, some in french that haven't been translated since I switched to full english. I've still got unfinished drafts of more fics including them which will probably never be finished because I can't be bothered, and I don't post unfinished drafts (there's one exception to this and I won't elaborate on it).

Featuring an Oblivious!Cloud, background Reno/Rude, Zack being around, Rufus and his dog learning to be a Good PersonTM under mentorship from Dio, the most adults members of the group acting like parents and a frustrated Barret.

A Brooklyn Nine-Nine fic in which Kevin's family is actually from the mafia. His parents don't talk to him anymore because he married a cop and the whole Seamus situation gets worse because that's a mafia family kidnapping somedoby from another mafia family. It is unclear if Holt is aware or not.

3. how you feel about your current WIP?

OMG, Blue, you couldn't have chosen a worst question from this list ahaha. I feel awful, I hate it, I'm fighting it every step of the way, I wanna lay down and cry about it. I hate it so much, so, so much. I'm talking about The Burning of Rome, of course, not the answer to your prompt (yep, it's still in progress) though I'm also blocked on that one, unfortunately T-T.

Now, I'm just not gonna whine about my WIP, but maybe explain a little bit more. Even though it's... not fun, I know it's part of the process. First of all, I generally hate my WIPs at some point, most often I hate what I just finished writing. I think it's because, as I come down from the high of writing, I realise words and english failed me yet again and it's not as I imagined. It's never exactly as I imagined, but sometimes, this conclusion angers me. I often react with anger when my ego takes a hit, then I sulk, then I accept it and generally, by this point I read over the part I wrote and I rediscover it and hey, it's actually not that bad. So I know it's part of the process.

But... I'll admit it's the first time I struggled this hard with a fic. It never happened before. So, like a disgruntled old cat, I was reflecting on why is that, and here are my modest conclusions:

it's the... biggest work so far. Not in word count (though, if you add up the first two parts of the series, it is one of the biggest), but in ambition. I basically had to come up with so much for that series, and that last part in particular. I researched the mafias of the world, studied the Philipines geography and geopolitics, I went back to some history lesson to better integrate some part of lore into past events, and then there was the usual research about John Wick in genral, firearms, battle strategy, and of course, writing fighting scenes which is just exhausting.

The freaking cast... Like. Most of my works have around three main characters, and a few regular side characters, but most of the action happens in the intimacy of a couple, or a trouple. TBoR's middle part, which I finished with my blood and tears, only thanks to Koda infaillible support, has so many characters. There is only one main character (John) for most of that part, but he has significant interactions with like ten others characters. Thre of them are OC, and I try not to give too much screentime to OCs since, understandably, they don't interest the audience but Leonora for exemple, has been in this story for so long sometimes I forget she ain't actually in the movies xD. So yeah, a big cast to balance, to give screentime to, and to move around coherently, give each of them a role and a purpose. Exhausting.

Character developpement: I can only blame myself for that one. I mean, I can only blame myself for the previous points, too, but this one... Let me rewind a little bit: I know a lot of people in the fandom envision John as caring, understanding, patient. And he is. Our favorite Loving Husband. But he also is pretty aggressive, stubborn, and ffs he doesn't know how to grieve. At all. This "indomitable will" Viggo speaks about in the first movie, that thing that makes him get up after falling from the roof garden of the Continental... Well, when you put that into caring for his partner, it makes him a great husband. But when you put that into conflict with said partner, he's just unsufferable. And I wanted to explore that. And now, he kinda did something unforgivable, so how is he gonna get over it, I ask the audience? And the audience turns toward me: "but you're the author!" and yep. I am [nervous laughter]. So... Now I have the path, after... months of struggling to find a way out of the mess I put him and Santino into. But I have to write it, and it's hard, because I'm shit at emotional conflict, and how do you deal with emotional conflict when one character doesn't know how to express his feelings outside of violent outburst (killing seventy people because he couldn't deal with his grief~~~) and the other one is just as stubborn, and won't talk about his feelings anymore because when he tried, he got shut down. That's where I am people, and I. hate. it.

Now, I know that when I publish the final part, I'll be happy. Not just happy to be done, I'll be proud of myself because, this was huge. I knew it would be when I started, and I told myself several times that I wouldn't do it because it was too big and I wasn't sure I could pull it off, or even wanted to... I mean, I don't wanna sound like I'm whining but I know the energy this will require out of readers, it's not a fanfiction anymore, it's a book, and people have shown to have more difficulties engaging with that kind of works than with oneshots, or short fiction. Won't get into why, that's another subject entierly, but I just know this work, which is my soul and guts, will get less reactions that the one I wrote in a frenzy for a prompt. It's always been like that, I've... accepted it, I'm not complaining about it I'm just saying sometimes it's hard to swallow.

Moving on.

I've been thinking a lot about another fic of mine (from Cyberpunk) lately in relation to The Burning of Rome. The fic is called To the day I die and it was, is, my personal masterpiece when it comes to Silverdyne (Johnny x Kerry). It's also the final part of a series that started innocently as a prompt (W.A.R, the series TBoR is part of, started as a character study), and it embarked me into this huge odyssey about love, growing up, getting better, relapse and what it means to be wise. Also, some of the themes are the same : both characters hurting each other with the best intentions, one of them being a self-sacrifycing fool, and the other being stubborn because he was once hurt by his partner. They also end up kinda nearly killing each other lol I need to stop doing this (it's a lie, I'll do it again, it's my favorite trope, don't send help). I think I unconsciously used some of the same sentences, or at least the same situation. I I foolishly always thought I had no "themes" in my work but that was obviously my ego speaking! Incredible, what we learn about ourselves while writing.

So yeah.

I hate it.

But when it's done, I'll be proud, I know.

I might even print it, for posterity.

It's my best work so far, so why not?

(Fun fact, I wrote that yesterday and I think venting helped me because I kinda made a huge leap in the fic!!! Kudos to me and thank you for the ask!!!)

14. where do you get your inspiration?

Ah, that's a good question. I don't know, and it's bugging me a little ahah. I was talking to my sister about what I consider a "good movies" lately and my conclusion was "I need to develop an obsession, however brief, about it". That's what I'm seeking when I watch a movie, when I start a series or a game: I want to get that obsessive reaction, because it fuels my creativity like mad. Now, what will make me obsess about a content? No idea lol. Example of materials that should've inspired me but didn't: Mass Effect, Red Dead Redemption, the Sandman, Our Flag Means Death, Interview with the Vampire... they had ALL the ingredients that should've made me fall into a new obsession, and well, nothing happened.

On the contrary, examples of material that made me go into a frenzy: X-men:first class, Startrek, Stargate (SG1 and Atlantis), Cyberpunk, Matrix, John Wick, Naruto and lately, KinnxPorsche (thawainese drama, yeah, I was NOT expecting that one). I've tried to come up with the fomula but I've not yet found out what makes any of the above kickstart an obsession, and with it, inspiration to write or draw.

One thing maybe is the epicness: I need to feel the story is vast and world threatening. I also love element of fantasy, or science fiction. I need the story to get me out of our daily world (but then again, Mass effect checks all the boxes, and yet...).

Music can also inspire me but I'm very fickle about it. I did write with music but I stopped that a while ago because it made me too dependent on the music's mood to write the right scene. Now I write without, and it's actually easier to focus, I think I also got more control over my writing in general, meaning I can write the scene I want, when I want, not when the mood strikes.

Last but not least: other fanfictions. This is always, a huge reservoir of inspiration. Headcanons, fanons, and all the content of a fandom is generally a bottomless well of ideas, feeling and themes to explore. As such, it can be hard to be in a small fandom, with a ship with few supporters because I "lack" this source of inspiration, but that also mean I'll produce more for it, like I'm trying to fill the void xD. For example, I never wrote anything for any big fandom because I spent too much time reading fanfiction, and feeling like everything was already written and I just needed to find it to get my high. In a smaller fandom, I need to participate more, and it's really stimulating! So overall, it works out either way!

And of course, one thing that stays true no matter what: I'm an overwriter, look at that long post!!!

Regarding love in general for these four characters, I'll start by saying I've fully come in terms that my true OTP for Kotal is actually D'Vorah🫣 I really liked their pre-betrayal dynamic, when I thought D'Vorah was being genuine! I'm a sucker for Royal x Knight couples (SubScorp, FrozenBlossom and Taleena for once) and as unsettlingly as D'Vorah is, this one also had me for a while!

Do for starters, my idea of Love square would be everyone thinking Jade and Kotal have a thing for each other but actually Kotal is head of heels in love with D'Vorah and Jade is his reluctant wingwoman, lmao!

i am so sorry it took me ages to reply to your great message. i have been sitting with this ask for two reasons: firstly i simply did not find the time to answer it; secondly i had to stop and really sit with that ship to figure out what my opinions even are. and i still came up kind of empty because yeah what do i think about a dan/matt/neil throuple? and the answer is it is something that i would love to see explored and that i think would be a wonderful thing to happen to a neil in a universe in which andrew does not exist. but what exactly would that even look like, right?would neil even meet dan and matt in a universe like that????? like. would neil have been a fox in that universe? and if so, would exy and the foxes (specifically dan & matt) have been enough to make neil stay the moment riko figured out who he was? would he have wanted to stay knowing that he didn’t need to protect dan and matt because they had others and each other to look out for them? the answer to all of these could very easily be a clear yes as it could be a resounding no.

although frankly i think if neil had ended up with anyone other than andrew it would have had been in a throuple or other poly constellation. andrew is able to give neil the stability & safety & bone-deep understanding he craves because that’s just who he is as a person: an unmoving object for neil to lean on and draw strength from; someone who sees him in his entirety and doesn’t shy away the darkest parts he finds because these parts are a familiar reflection. of course dan & matt are strong people as well—they went through a lot and can sympathise with neil, but only to a certain degree. they’d need their combined strength to hold neil up in the moments he’d really need it the most. they are a little to removed from that sort of darkness to offer the kind of unquestioning & all-encompassing understanding & loyalty that andrew can offer. and of course over the years he’d spend with them and learn from them, neil would definitely change and grow into the warm and casual kind of affection dan & matt offer and they, in turn, would get better at supporting him. but i think, compared with the level of intimacy that neil and andrew share, it would take much more time for dan, matt, and neil to find their way to each other in that way. and neil would have that time without andrew around. their friendship would have the opportunity to evolve into romance & probably even a much more conventional romantic relationship than what we get with andreil. and i’d also love that for neil—for all three of them really!! because i think neil would flourish with them too ((btw if it wasn’t clear already none of this is meant to make or imply any moral judgment. not saying one relationship dynamic is better/worth more/etc. than the other.))

but with andrew around it’s very much impossible for me to see a version of this story that ends with neil choosing dan & matt over andrew. a lot would have to go down differently. and for that to happen not only the story but the characters would have to be very different from the versions we have, which would also make it a completely different book series. and who knows how we would see the ship dynamics then! and in my opinion if you had andrew dying at any point after tfc neil simply would be too preoccupied with that to have any space in his head for anything sooooooo…. idk idk

basically what i am saying is that the dan/matt/neil dynamic appeals to me A Lot in theory but it is not something i can see happening in the story we got with the characters we got, if that makes sense????? that’s barely an opinion but it sure is a thought and i don’t think i can do much better than that i am so sorry 😭

Quick question... You think Mike Duarte and Antonio Dawson would fall for each other? Because a friend of mine told me about a dream she had where they were together (the three of them, i mean) and i haven't been able to stop thinking about it since then. It would be so🥵😍🥰

So I think it would be hot but I dont think it would happen. I have great thought to this in the shower this morning.

I think that they are both too dominant and territorial for it to even get off the ground.

With relationships and even just casual sex I feel like theres a level of vulnerability there and I dont think that either of them could being themselves to be vulnerable on any level with the other. It takes Mike a long time in particular to trust and we see that with the constant war he has with Olivia in the beginning. The actor has described it as two alphas butting up against each other and I think it would be the same with Antonio, more likely worse because you are the one thing that Mike treasures and cherishes and hes fucking fierce about it.

I think if he was gonna fall for another man, as a partner, trouple or threesome it would be someone naturally empathetic like Joe. I feel from what we have seen of Joe he is naturally the type to reach out and reveal things about himself (his fathers abuse, the gang stuff back home,) I think Mike needs that, someone who shows it's ok to be vulnerable. I think Antonio could never be the first to do that.

Also in bed I think their styles and needs are very different. For Antonio I feel like sometimes he needs control, for him its about him being the one that gives you what you need. Hence hes a bit more into bondage, tying up, vibrators, overstimulatuon and edging - that comes from a place where he needs to walk that line and there is an intimacy in being with a partner who gets that and needs that too. It's a really interesting dynamic and understanding between two people.

Mike is always softer in the way I write him. Everytime with you is about intimacy, so if hes Edging you it's because he knows the pay off is going to be amazing for you later and it's always with his body. He loves the intimacy of it and drawing out your pleasure for as long as the two of you can stand it. He uses fingers, hands, mouth, cock because he revels in that skin to skin contact he needs to be immersed, where I think Antonio is a bit more objective.

Also I think they would go for two very different types of partners. So Antonio's relationship with Reader would be very different from Mike's.

Antonio has said in the past he can never give 100 percent of himself to someone because he will always have other priorities eg: his kids. He needs a partner who is cool with that and understands they aren't going to come first everytime and supports him in that.

Whereas Mike gives himself fully. Once he's in, he is in and his partner needs to understand what that means in the long term.

Thanks for the insightful answer! As I said, the 5-paragraph model works/worked perfectly for my brain, and that helped me to adapt it into some of those other models you described without my even realizing I was deviating too far from the original concept. Basically, in my understanding, “5-paragraph essay” was shorthand for “Introduce your topic, provide your explanation, then sum up á la TL;DR,” which means I did exactly what you described in your first few points: sometimes (often, especially in college) I would need way more than 3 supporting paragraphs because of a word or page count requirement. Or, one or two of my “supporting paragraphs” would end up being a page long in and of themselves so they needed to be broken up to be more digestible—both to read and to write.

Interestingly, I was also taught that in the “sandwich” style of essay writing (a name which i am totally stealing if it ever comes up), you are totally allowed to add one final piece of evidence – especially if it is of the “mic drop” variety – to your conclusion paragraph, which in some senses just turns it into yet another supporting paragraph but with the conclusive statement at the end of it, like you also mentioned.

I hadn’t heard of or seen the other formats you mentioned: narrative arc, point-counterpoint, or spiral, but I can see their merit, especially if they make sense to the writer and/or the topic is more conducive to that style.

To circle back around to your first caveat: I wholeheartedly agree with you in that people shouldn’t be forced into a style that their brain doesn’t comprehend… in any subject. I teach music, and my way of thinking about music is close to but not quite what most schools teach. That means I understand and relate to my students when a concept doesn’t grab with them. Math, for another example, is something that a lot of people have trouple grasping, but again, that’s because most teachers and textbooks present topics in the same way which works for some but not all. I had never truly considered any alternative essay writing styles simply because the sandwich style fit my brain perfectly and I never had to consider any alternatives.

Trying to avoid spamming anyone with discourse in their notifications, but here’s a random gripe/vent — trying to get people to stick to “structures��� of writing (e.g. the 5-phase narrative arc, the 5-paragraph essay) is bad and should never be done in writing classes. They can be fun models or guides if someone needs it or wants to explore, but they are ONE (1) option among MANY for structuring a piece of writing, and literally no one should feel beholden to them. At all. Ever.

Corvus/Mortarion/Konrad- the throuple everyone expects to fall apart spectacularly but ends up being surprisingly stable and supportive? They’re all shy, wary of themselves interacting with others, scared of hurting people they know are already hurt too. Corvus reminding Konrad he can still be a good person after a vision while Mortarion is more experienced in what calms down a body after a seizure. Mortarion telling anxiety-riddled Corvus that she’s making the right choices and doing good, and he’s unmoving enough that she believes him. All of them having days sometimes where they don’t do as well and just need a while to hide away from everyone else, and Corvus making up the best excuses to get them out of things (and maybe straight up sneaking them out of a stressful meeting)

Mortarion

Will sometime walk to one of his partner lounging around and just. Stuff his face in their belly as if they were a cat. Its pure serotonin.

By far the tallest. Almost two heads above them. It make Corvus pout that's he's too tall to kiss without bending. Konrad just climb him like a tree.

Used to be incredibly insecure about sex and his body, until corvus threatened to wack him, and Konrad just asked what a dysphoria was and would he feel better if Konrad kill it??

Why is he dating two sneaky sneak. Why. They just freaking materialised at his side randomly, it used to jump scare him quite badly.

He has the easiest time with words, in that trouple. He was probably the first one to say "I love you". Corvus get too in her head, and Konrad straight up forget how to talk sometime.

He's working on medications to at least help Konrad control the physical side effect of his visions. When he told him of this project, Konrad almost cried.

He never feel bad for his respirator when around them. In fact, Corvus will often grumble and remind him to wear it. Konrad is very intrigued by it, and has a hard time not playing with the tubbing.

His poor sons. They have no idea what to do when a Raven guard gift them a bunch of feathers, or when a Night Lord drag in a corpse to share. They want!!! To make friends!!! Morty is nice enough to establish general legions cohabitations guideline.

He love playing with his partners hairs. Corvus has poufy, fluffy ones, that almost feel like feathers, and konrad ones (when clean!!) Are soft and silky.

She has no idea how she pulled that one off. She got TWO boyfriends?!?! What.

Her and Morty LOVE to nerd out together. They get in one of their lab and get super!! Excited!!! About whatever project they are working on!!!

She is constantly cold, due to bad circulation. Having two boyfriend keep her warm~~

She adore that they are the least concerned people EVER about her physical appearance. She does get dysphoria sometime, and the blank look they give her when she voice her insecurity is weirdly validating

They all, collectively, have a pretty low sex drive, and that's ok. She does bring up some of the sex toys she built in the bedroom, and they are VERY interested.

Her son always called her "mother", but now her bf sons sometime call her that too?!? It's Sevatar fault, he started doing it first and all the Night Lords followed, and the Death Guards had a panicked moment and collectively decided to do it too. Kayvaan doubled down by calling the other legions members "step-brothers". She find it kinda funny tbh.

They more often than not spend time on her ship or on Deliverance. It's a nice neutral zone, not too dark or toxic.

Konrad

It's a very strange feeling, being around people that CAN fight him off and stop him if need be. It's reassuring.

Still does not like showers. Will tolerate them if someone is keeping him company in it.

It was very... Touch and go at first, sex wise. His partners had to be extremely patient with him. Many triggers were discovered in the early days.

LOVE kissing. He's the first one surprised by this. It's safe, intimate, and he never had really done it before. Will sneak ambush his partners to kiss them.

The furnace. As such, when they all sleep together, he become a shared living blanket on top of them.

His partners are so?? Understanding of his various weirdness?? They even get him things to stim with. It really pacify him a lot.

His hatred of clothes continue. Why do they exist. If there was less clothes, he could have skin to skin contact more often with his partners!! Yes it means that sometime, he start trying to strip them randomly.

Actually??? A rather funny guy????? Yes, his humour is kind of morbid, but in a safe situations, he's the most likely to joke around.

He's a cat. We established this. As such, he like to bring gifts. Corvus is very touched, there is a huge traditions of gift giving in her legion. Mortarion is very confused, and is trying to convince them to please stop bringing dead rat and birds in his lab he has sensitive samples-
