tbdjjxjddj here is the annual chai day ramble post but also I get sentimental and nostalgic and go GOD IM GETTING OLD because like ya gotta understand I got into wattblr as a 16-year old and like I was still at my old house, I was not yet out as bi, I didn't even know I was enby by then, and now I'm a 20 year old and I'm gonna turn 21 and I haven't mastered the damn 21 song yet and I've been placed on pedestals not so befitting for one my age and i have had my heart broken in a million pieces and yet I'm still here! And yet I still look to the people that I kinda grew up with during that time - even if they are online people I have never personally met! And yet every fucking chai day I check my damn notifs to see if my people are still here, and how they have grown up and grown old too. I dunno perhaps this is too damn sentimental over online strangers, but still.

1. Can't Stop Singing - Austin Moon, Maia Mitchell

Fun! I wouldn't call this my favorite song from the movie, but it's real catchy and I love listening to it when I just need to vibe. I do not, however, enjoy how easily it gets stuck in my head. Ironically, not even the chorus parts. It's the lyrics and beats between the chorus!

2. Yakko's World - Animaniacs

Ngl this is one of those that is on my playlist JUST because of the rhythm - I should probably actually memorize the names of all these countries though anyway 😅

3. Oh No! - MARINA

I think? I added this to my playlist after a dance show?? Maybe???? If not, again it's only here just bc it's catchy - but still a fun song to vibe to as well! That tends to be my criteria for my playlist lol

6. Perfect Time <HNMT> - Eliana, mpi

LISTEN. I will put pretty much any version of Perfect Time I can find on my playlist, okay? It's just one of those songs I hear that I am hit with nostalgia, no matter which version I hear. Also, a 6 minute version of Perfect Time makes for me having a perfect time.

7. What We Live For - American Authors

Just a vibe honestly. Like probably a song I would hear a lot on the radio but never knew the title of, and added it to my playlist because of the Discover Weekly (the reason my playlist is over 2,000 songs long). I like vibing to it but I definitely forget it's on my playlist until it plays lol

8. Clarity - Zedd, Foxes

Nostalgia definitely. I'm pretty sure I used to listen to amvs or like, those ship slides slideshows, with this song. I could not tell you which fandom though because it's been so long 😅 but this song also easily gets stuck in my head. Just that chorus - "If our love is tragedy, why are you my remedy? / If our love's insanity, why are you my clarity?"

9. Maps - Sam Tsui

Stars, I just love Sam Tsui. His voice is just. Ugjdhdhdcjdvhg. Maps especially I really love - idk why but his voice just, really suits this song? Or like, the way he sings this song in particular is just fantastic. This song - and Sam Tsui in general - is one with lyrics I can put on and still focus on writing/school work!

10. House of Cards (Full Length Edition) - BTS

I don't listen to kpop much anymore, but I do have a lot of older BTS songs - and that feels so weird to say, because I remember when Save Me and Fire and Blood, Sweat and Tears came out. I remember waiting with my best friends for those music videos to drop. And like. That was EIGHT YEARS AGO. But it doesn't feel more than like. Two. Four at most.

AnyWAY. I just really like the vibes of this song - it's haunting and weirdly relaxing to listen to.

Honestly surprised no Set It Off played - I think I have their entire discography on my playlist lol. Or maybe Spotify decided that it's shuffle mood would avoid Set It Off today after playing like 5 songs from them yesterday while I hung out with sib 😅

I literally have no idea how to rank these in preference order, wow. I’ve been staring at this for a week.  

A lot of these show i love them when i love them and hate ‘em when i hate ‘em??? 

6- Angel. This is a show i keep revisiting because i really love the cast of characters (mostly), Angel, Cordy, Gunn, Fred, Lilah and Darla first and foremost, but i have nothing against Wes, Lorne and Doyle? Lindsay was a boring villain, imo, and they missed such a chance when they decided to play him off angel more than Lilah because i think they could have made Far more interesting points by comparing them, tbh. That’s a pet peeve but i have a Huge shitlist for this show. But i really Do love the characters, and on occasion the plots Do show moments of brief, utter brilliance but then they swerve away from it Every Time and it’s So Annoying. I did not mention connor here because literally Everything to do with him is one of those ‘brief moments of brilliance that were swerved away from like they were contagious’ things. 

5- btvs... I Love this show but a lot of that is tied into childhood nostalgia??? If i watched it for the first time now it’d be hard to get through because i’d not know which parts to skip through for ease of watching, because i have very firm ideas on what episode and scenes need to be muted or skipped full stop by now and i feel like my ability to edit the show to my liking May have clouded some of my judgment on its quality on the whole lol. But my version of the show? Where i only watch the parts i like? Way higher than 5 here. 

4- TWW, would rank higher but seasons 5 and 6 are very slow. And I have to suffer through the Sorkin Self Insert Character(tm) because it’s a sorkin show. Loses more marks for creating female characters to shove Terrible feminism opinions on so it’s Socially Acceptable b/c it’s a woman saying it not him. In the shadow of two gunmen parts one and two are two of the best episodes of tv full stop, though, and honestly, season 2 on the whole is one of the stronger seasons of tv i’ve ever watched. I also really like s7, unpopular but it’s well paced and by like ep4?? it hits its stride and stays that way the whole time. Though, idk if i’m the only non american with this feeling, but on occasion some of the every day american value politics on the show is so Batshit i lose all sense of immersion? Not the Big Plots, i know those americanisms because of an awareness of rl politics and it no longer surprises me, but the small taken for granted stances that they mention offhandedly that make me go... what??????

3- Criminal Minds. Just over half this show was... at best average and at worst just straight up Bad, but damn when it was good it was good. I’m actually still mad at Patinkin for ruining the end of the Gideon arc because i may not Like the character as a man, but Damn he was such a well written and fascinating character and the story they were telling with him was fascinating and it was ruined. Also, this show will always have a place in my heart for killing him off years later out of sheer passive aggression. Honestly? i could write a 5000 word essay on my feelings on this show on the whole and i could never hope to say so briefly, but when it got it right this show Really got it right, and that actually makes up for a Great many hours of bullshit i watched in the name of it. And since it ended Tons of people have started loving Blake and i am Vindicated. 

 2- Star Trek Discovery - This show only has two seasons so it’s probably benefitting from not having ‘been on air too long-itis’ but i really do love it. And, truthfully, i could pick at it because it’s made some Choices and done some Real bullshit, but others could and have deconstructed that better than me... But also it has some great stuff in it too? i’d just end up writing an essay, again, but imo the good outweighs the bad, and this is way more my Thing in style than the older ones because?? idk, it just is. (tho.... !Picard Spoiler! what Does the trek universe have against gay latin men named Hugh??? That is weirdly specific.)

1- Doctor who - Okay, full disclosure, i won’t watch a lot of the new stuff, sometimes because i find the writing bad and sometimes because it’s written well enough to be infuriating, But like, when i love it, i really love it? I can honestly say watching s12 was the most fun i’ve had watching a season of tv in at least a decade and It was so satisfying to see all the threads everybody had picked up on in s11 come to fruition (and, also, vindicating lbr) and to see 13′s veneer fracture so completely. But then again, i’ve always enjoyed things for their character writing first and foremost and imo, chibnall’s always been good at that. The fact that the plots make sense 95% of the time too is an added bonus i would not actually expect from any era of dw. I just watched ten work a phone by putting a stethoscope to it. The fact that i don’t actually feel it needs to make sense probably helps it placing this high in this very over thought random meme i’ve spent a week on. Classic who is Also great because usually even when it’s bad it’s funny due to monsters made of carpet and papier-mâché. I even like the cybermen as villains in classic who and i am Not a fan of them in nu!who (the whole frankenstein mary shelley angle won me over b/c it was an interesting take on it with how they merged it in with classic horror, but i’m not big on them as a villain. Probably helped that they were kind of a vehicle for the main plot more than there for their own trouble making abilities? i find the whole type of narrative based around them is said better with the borg in star trek tbh).

yall ever find out something that in retrospect was super obvious but like blows your mind?

today i found out that the creators of long live the queen are the same people who made cute knight. thats fucking crazy to me. i played cute knight so much when i was a kid. the games are very similar so like it makes sense but man it still blew me out of the water to know they are from the same devs.

its such a simple type of game but it hits me so hard cuz i loved cute knight so much when i was a kid. and they get so frustrating because when you make a mistake you have to start from the beginning but fuck i just. im love these games. the stat progression is just so weirdly interesting to me.

in the end i know these games are uh. not the best in principle (long live the queen is actually like good tho tbh) - but i love them so much. hanako games... yall out here making weird visual novels and shit but putting that spin on them. normally i would get frustrated and not care to learn the story by going through the game over and over until i get it right but like. i did that with these games. i cared about the characters enough to want to know the end. fuck. i KNOW they are simple and not “games” per say but i love them a lot. it is probably the nostalgia for cute knight but like. i dunno. the colossal amount of endings is really cool to me. especially cuz you get like outfits from each ending lol so you feel like it was worth it. and said outfits have stat boosts to make later runs a bit less harsh.

i realized i had been typing up zelda blogging into notepad for like a week plus without posting, cause i didn’t wanna post everyday once i finished the main story? but then it got SUUUPER long. i waited for it to kinda taper down since now i’m mostly down to completionist stuff, and since it has, i’m gonna post it & just do small posts if i decide to blog abt anything else.

i checked the shrine out next to it, since i was only activating them near the end and not DOING them

and they've gotten way more complex

now i understand when the monks commend your resourcefulness like before i was like, pls. that was way too easy. literally anyone could have done that

i went to the lake at night and it isn't glowing ): idgi did i see something else? does it only do that from a distance? on certain nights? i could see it from SO far away...

jesus FUCKING christ i went out to see the ranch ruins with epona and i got attacked by a guardian, a yiga clan member, and two silver bokoblins on horseback

FINALLY fought them off, terrified the entire time something would happen to epona, and i got attacked by three stal moblins

fought THEM off and there's a stal bokoblin on a stalhorse! but i can't catch it or ride it because of all times, the blood moon is rising!! j e s u s c h r i s t

now i've gotta get on my horse and get the hell out of dodge before those things come back to hurt her

i was thinking of a nice relaxing-if-sad trip before bed but no i gotta come back on FOOT to kill these guys AGAIN and then bring her back during the DAY so we can properly look around

okay update i did get on the stalhorse bc i have about 30 seconds to snap a cool pic (no way i can ride it out to whatever stable i need for the quest...even if i could leave epona here, it's much too long of a trip) but fucking hell dude

but after clearing it out and actually getting to look around, uh

this is brick-for-brick the most faithful recreation of oot's lon lon ranch

and i am SO sad

ugh i just had to restart an entire shrine bc i dropped my korok leaf at the last second bc i was trying to open all the chests and i had to go back and get my good spear that i had to drop to get the korok leaf in the first room...but i needed the korok leaf to get back to the end!!!!!

i hate the weapons system in this game sometimes i won't lie like sometimes it's really good and sometimes it drives me bonkers

i can't even RESTART the shrine bc the leaf was in a CHEST which is now empty. holy shit

they kept failing to spawn where they were supposed to and the only one who spawns reliably/is easy to hit/doesn’t send scales flying 100000 miles away is farosh, naydra and dinraal are absolutely horrible, naydra in particular has nowhere you can fast-travel to, you have to fast-travel to a nearby shrine and then walk a good distance no matter where you drop in at. naydra was also the most finnicky about showing up when she was supposed to

at least i figured out i can use a flame sword instead of fire arrows to light campfires

getting honey was pretty easy there’s a fuckton next to those hinox brothers and acorns are kinda everywhere

the beetles were a little more tedious but once i put them on my sensor not too bad...the worst part was turning beedle down every time he wanted one because he does a LONG speech that is SUPER annoying after the 100th time and you’re just trying to buy arrows

i’m lowkey wondering if i will attempt to 100% this game like i do Not look forward to getting all those fucking korok seeds, at that point it is no longer fun, yk, and the reward is so stupid

also i saw a video about having to visit every major named place on the map as well

and both of those things obviously guarantee that you see EVERY INCH of this huge and exapansive and beautiful world, but i feel like if i forced myself to keep going and doing it i would learn to hate the game a little bit lmao. lowkey feel like that’s adding fake hours onto your game for something that stop being fun and turns into absolute tedium, but i guess i can understand wanting to give completionist players a reason to see EVERYTHING

we’ll just see how i feel - i still have quite a few sidequests left, and while i don’t wanna burn thru them too quickly (bc again, after they’re over my interest will drop dramatically) i also still wanna fight the minibosses and upgrade as much of my armor as i am able to

but like, who the fuck has time to farm 160ish star pieces...? not me my dude and that mmo-type drop rarity is like :/ i disapprove, that’s like...cheating. but anyway. we’ll see how far i get
