First actual post of 2025!
I just want to take the time to ramble a bit about TNG. The Name Game is very special to me if I’m being honest, it’s the first fic I’ve EVER written (not counting drabbles and the random oneshots rotting in my google docs) and it’s been such a surprise to see so many people enjoying it. It’s such a weird feeling, so many people liking my writing and art feels so surreal
TNG has only been out for six months and it’s already surpassed every expectation I had of it, and I want to thank all of you guys for that :)) I never expected my lil health comfort fic to attract this much attention, it’s a little scary haha!
That’s truly what made me write this fic though, (skip this part if you don’t wanna hear about my health struggles 👍👍👍👍)
I’ve always been disabled but I had no idea I was up until maybe late 2022 to early 2023? But my health really started to decline throughout 2023-24 because 11 years of professional level circus training when I shouldn’t have been working out at all finally caught up with my piece of shit body and my symptoms got worse really really fast. And that was really fucking scary, and it’s definitely taken a toll on my mental health too. So, for comfort, I decided to turn to the dca lmao, I remember being incredibly inspired by the song Happy Hare by Yaelokre and that started this whole thing. So, I just put together the vibes I got from that song, a fnaf-esc plot along with the dca and my own struggles with my disabilities and boom! The name game woo!!!
It’s really special to me, I don’t think I would’ve been able to go through the whole medical process as well as I did without it (that’s not to say it hasn’t been a hellhole cause uh yeah healthcare kinda sucks for the disabled (and afab people) but that’s a whole other rant for another day)
Does this count as a love letter to my own fic? Oh well, I just wanted to ramble on about my feelings about it. I’ll probably write more fics after I finish TNG but I think it’ll always hold a special place in my heart <33
And ofc I wanna thank you guys for reading it and giving me so much support :]] I love reading your guys’ comments and tags (AND GOD THE FANART???? NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS DID I EXPECT THAT)
And also another thanks to @r0tting-rat @pluck-heartstrings @naffeclipse and @bamsara for inadvertently getting me inspired to write hehehe (sorry for the random tag I hope that it’s okay-)
And another another thanks specifically to @miahead for encouraging me to write it in the first place and dealing with my shenanigans in the process of writing each and every chapter, love you!! <3333
#if anyone wants me to remove their tag just tell me and I’ll do it asap <33#hexcii says stuff#dca fandom#who knew those fae boys could mean so much to me?#the name game#tng au#dca au#disabled#disability#cw health#tw health#<- just in case#long post

My Mrs. Claus | 8 Days of SKZcember 2023
Prompt: "ho ho holy shit you look good." lmao im so sorry
❣ Summary: Who didn't want to make a statement for one of the final parties of the year? ❣ ❣ Word Count: 986 ❣ Warnings: Fluff, humor, slight suggestiveness, Jisung is a flirt but he means well ❣ ❣ Female! Reader [No use of Y/N] | You/Your pronouns ❣ ❣ Additional Tags: Han is referred to as Jisung, Ji, and Baby, Reader is referred to as Jagi, Mrs. Claus, unedited ❣ Stray Kids Masterlist ❣ General Masterlist ❣ SKZcember 2023
It was your favorite time of the year; the annual JYP Family Christmas Party finally making its appearance - a somewhat under the radar event started by a few of the seniors of the company as an opportunity for all of the artists and staff to have a night of celebrating the year’s accomplishments and catch up with friends they wouldn’t usually be able to catch up with.
Sometimes faces from other companies make an appearance, but the majority would always be JYP signed artists and even trainees - though they would only be allowed to stick around for the early hours of the party.
This year you planned to do it big - well, not big, big, but big to where you found yourself staring at a red sweater dress and a black leather belt to go across the middle currently laid out on your bed; a classic rendition of the jolly old Saint Nick, but cuter.
“You know the party starts in two hours, right?”
Rolling your eyes, you looked toward the closed door of your bedroom, as if you would miraculously gain x-ray vision to see your boyfriend on the other side. Yes, Ji, I know!”
“And you know we said we’d meet the others before heading there, right?”
You scoffed, turning toward your vanity to start a simple makeup look, “I know - I don’t even know why you decided to come here to get ready, I could’ve just met you at the 3Racha plus Artist dorm.”
Even with the door shut, you could picture his offended expression paired with the pointedly loud gasp he made sure you would hear.
“And have to find out what my beautiful, amazing girlfriend is wearing at the same time as my friends? No way! That’s cruel and unusual punishment, Jagi.”
“Then you should know,” you started, pausing for a moment to apply foundation around your mouth and chin, “the more you talk to me, the longer I’m gonna take to get ready!”
“Can’t you just let me inside? I won’t do anything but watch!”
“Han Jisung.”
“Fine, fine - I’m going! I’ll be on the other side of the door, scared, cold, and so, so lonely.”
“Alexa, volume seven, please.”
The sound of your music grew louder, effectively putting a pacifier on Jisung’s teasing antics as you continued getting ready for the party.
It didn’t take long for you to finish your makeup and hair, and by the time you shimmied into your dress, there was a little more than an hour left on your metaphorical timer.
“Okay, baby, you can come i-”
The door swung open at lightning speed, Jisung all but falling through the doorway as he eagerly scanned your room, “Finally! Took you forever, I thought I was gonna-” His eyes landed on your form and they widened instantly, lips falling into a small ‘o’ as he took you in fully.
Bristling at the sudden attention, you found yourself consciously tugging at the hem of the dress, though it fell respectfully just above your knees, “Is it too much? I bought this not too long ago when I realized it matches your sweater and-”
“Ho, ho, holy shit, you look good!” Barely even acknowledging your nervous rambling, he made his way toward you, a wide smile growing on his lips, “Jagi, you look- wow, look at you!”
A sheepish laugh floated past your lips as you reached for the belt to top off the outfit, easily sliding it around your waist and fastening it. “Alright, alright, you don’t have to gas me up, Ji.”
“Gas you up? Baby, I don’t need a reason to gas you up, you’re already on fire!” He let out a low whistle, scanning you up and down as if you were a priceless find, “Mrs. Claus, can I sit on your lap and tell you what I want instead?”
“Jisung!” You laughed, fanning yourself in hopes of alleviating the heat of his stare and his equally heated compliments. “It’s really nothing, I’m sure there’s gonna be other people more dressed up than I am.”
“You really think that would matter to me? You could’ve dressed as the Grinch and I’d still think you were the hottest one in the room.” Walking closer to you, he slid his hands onto your hips, fingers welcoming the soft cotton dress, “You look beautiful, Jagi, really.”
Cooing softly, you leaned forward to press a soft kiss to his lips, being mindful to not smudge the red lipstick that currently painted your lips, “Thank you, baby - you look handsome too.”
Sharing one final kiss, you slipped your way out of his arms before he could be compelled to steal another kiss that would set you both back longer than necessary.
“I just need to put on my heels and we’ll be out, okay?”
“Whatever you say, Mrs. Claus, I’m just your humble elf servant here to do anything you need me to.”
Grabbing one of your black boots from the floor, you looked up at him with an arched brow, “You don’t want to be Mr. Claus?”
A sly smirk creeped its way onto his face as he shook his head, ash brown hair tickling his forehead at the motion, “Nah, Mrs. Claus getting with one of her helper elves is a way hotter concept.”
You hummed slowly, nodding your head as you slipped on your shoe, “Right, right, we’ll unpack that thought later.”
Putting on your other shoe, you were officially ready to meet with the other boys; grabbing a jacket from the closet while Jisung handled your purse and a pair of flats ‘just in case’.
“Jagi, you mind letting the guys know we’re leaving now?” Jisung called as he made sure the van was ready outside.
Humming in acknowledgement, you unlocked your phone to send a swift text to the combined group chat.
You: Mrs. Claus and her Elf are on their way 🎄

Obligatory "This was a DIY-blog before a fandom blog and so if I wanna post my projects on here THEN I WILL AND YOU CAN'T STOP ME"-disclaimer
New blanket who dis
Another project that started out as an attempt for me to clear out yarn from my mom's stash, this time being some black Tynn Line from Sadnesgarn. There was a decent amount of it, and I didn't know what to do with it. Didn't want to work in just black, so I bought some of the orange yarn (while also doublechecking this was in fact Tynn Line like I suspected, because I wasn't 100% sure)
And I mindlessly started crocheting some basic granny squares.
Originally I figured I could maybe make a granny square cardigan, but once I got going I soon realized I probably had far more yarn than a cardigan would need (this was in fact a false estimate on my part because I am stupid), and I figured, if I had the yarn for it, then why not just make a blanket for myself instead
Now we all know and love the Blanket of Darkness I shared like a year ago, and let me tell you, I love that thing to death, it's a fantastic blanket and it has kept me so warm this whole winter. That said, while that blanket is fantastic in the middle of the winter, I did find myself kind of struggling during the fall and spring, when like. It's just slightly cold enough that I wanted an extra layer, but the thick, pure wool of that blanket was actually a bit too warm.
So when I realized I could make myself a thinner blanket, like, yeah, I wanted to take that. The Tynn Line is 53% cotton, 33 viskoce and 14% linen, and it's a thinner yarn, I used a 3 mm hook for the project. A perfect yarn for me to use for a fall/spring blanket.
And so I ended up committing to it, got more yarn so I'd have enough for a small blanket, and got to work. I think I started working on this around November 2023? Maybe December? Can't remember, foolishly I did not write down when I started working on it.
Now originally I was going to make this a striped blanket, but as I was going along, making those squares I started to rethink that plan a little
I also considdered attaching the smaller squares together to make bigger squares, but after asking friends for a second opinion we all agreed the middle design would actually look the coolest
Not that it mattered too much, I had to first finish the granny squares before I'd actually start putting the blanket together
But eventually I finished the squares. Each square is a little over 8x8 cm so the 10x18 square blanket needed 180 squares.
Now I have my personal preferred way to attaching granny squares, which is zigzagging down from one corner of the blanket to the opposite corner. But I wanted the blanket to look somewhat seamless, and I knew I wouldn't be able to do that if I just started attaching them one by one. So I decided to start by attaching all the squares into 1x3 square strips (as seen on the chart), and once the strips were done, do my usual corner-to-corner zigzag with the strips. This way I was able to attach the orange squares together with the orange yarn so the orange strips looked more solid, while the rest I could do with the black yarn.
Also I found out I had made four granny squares too many, lmao
But it was fine, actually. Because I did then proceed to finish the blanket, only to realize... It just felt too small. I just wasn't happy with the size. Like the blanket was fine if I wanted to wear it on my lap when sitting or something, but I wanted to throw this thing onto my bed to keep me warm, and the coverage wasn't going to be enough for that.
So as much as it pained me. I ordered four more balls of yarn. And made 68 more squares (those four spare orange squares did not go to waste lmao)
So the total went up to 252 granny squares as I extended the side by two rows and the lenght by one pattern repeat.
But yeah. Made those granny squares. Weaved in the tails as I went along and turned the granny squares into strips too while I was at it. And once done, finally added the extension to the blanket. Finished it off by adding a single row of double crochet around the edge. Badabing badaboom we got a blanket.
Now the blanket does have two sides to it, a good and a bad, because I was lazy and chose to crochet the squares together instead of sewing them with a needle. Had I done it with a needle it would've looked better without a doubt, but god damn, I did not have the patience, not this time.
So the backside looks better than the actual front, and that's fine by me
In anycase, I'm glad I finished this project, it turned out super cute, and now I have a perfect blanket to keep me slightly warmer as the weather changes ✌️✨
#Moon posting#Yarncraft Diary#Crochet#Crochetblr#Yarnblr#Oh and at the end I have like 15 grams of both the orange and black yarns (each ball was 50 grams)#And this took like 7 balls of the orange#Since I used the scraps from my mom I don't know how much black yarn I actually used/needed but definitely more#Since I used it to put the whole thing together in the end#But yeah. I'm so happy with how this blanket turned out. Even my cat had to give it a test ride the second I threw it onto my bed completed

My Top 10 Favorite Games I Played In 2023
In chronological order. It's a long one.
Titanfall 2
I've been told to play this for years now, though for most of those I did not really know why, as it never seemed like my kind of game. But, ever since I started really getting into mecha sometime in 2022, I decided to finally give it a try. I'm very glad I did. Titanfall 2 is a criminally short First Person Shooter with a very fun mech/pilot dynamic, really good mechanics of movement and combat for both, and some of my favorite level design of any game I've played in a long while. The platforming is crazy good! The mechanics are tight as hell! The mech is awesome! I recommend Titanfall 2 for literally anyone reading this.
Mega Man Zero
The Zero series is the one that most called to me in the Mega Man franchise every time I looked these games over, and I was right in that judgement. While I couldn't say if I was going to appreciate most of the GBA era action platformer difficulty or not, it was clear from Zero's more agile movement and bite-sized missions with very memorization-heavy bosses that I would enjoy it. And I did enjoy it a lot! Most of the bosses kicked my ass but it was an absolute blast to finally learn their patterns enough to defeat them. The problem is, I went out of my way to not get any of the game's health upgrades or energy tanks, making the final boss so hard for me that after days and days of attempts I gave up. Not beating Mega Man Zero is probably my biggest regret of the year lmao
Fate/Stay Night
Honestly, what do I even say? You can see my Saber icon, right? Fate is a franchise I never bothered to get close to, knowing of its name only through vague images and names of more popular characters (not even from FGO, just in general), and from later on getting to know that Fate/Grand Order was the game it is I felt like it wasn't for me at all and who cares. So when I learned what the original VN was actually about I felt stupid. How could something so fitting to my tastes have gone under my radar for so long...? Despite not being much of a reader in general, F/SN is a very long game that feels like it's just as short as you need it to be. The prose flows so well, every single character is lovable in many ways, and there's so much passion written into them and the situations they're in that it's one of the most smooth-flowing VNs I've read (which granted are not many) even though it's around the high 6 digit wordcounts. I love this game dearly.
Stranger of Paradise - Final Fantasy Origin
I wanted to play this game since the first few trailers! How cruel was it that, not only did I not have a powerful enough machine at the time, but the game wasn't even on Steam until the year after release? Final Fantasy Origin is the game it presents itself to be. There's something about it that's so special to a certain kind of person (which I happen to be one of) and that falls flat for everyone else. The combat and its many Weapons, Jobs and Skills to use are just fantastic in how nice they feel, and I really do like the type of story Stranger tells. I haven't finished it yet, but I'm close to it. I like to describe Stranger of Paradise as everything good about PS2 and PS3 games in a modern title.
Pseudoregalia
An old feeling from a new friend. Pseudoregalia is everything I like in 3D Platforming, and a little bit of what I don't. If you've ever looked at a single gif or video of Super Mario 64 and thought, "this looks pretty fun to play," you should be playing Pseudoregalia. If you like goat ladies with big butts, I can't say I understand if that would sell you on a game or not, but it is a feature everyone mentions. I wrote on this game already, so please do check that out and get it. It's one of the three titles of this list that came out this year, and I have not heard enough people talk about it.
Armored Core VI - Fires of Rubicon
My favorite in this list, which is funny because I don't know what to say about it at all. Armored Core is a series I've been studying up on from the outside for a while, and the announcement for this title was my reason to finally dive in. Unfortunately, I did not get past playing the first mission of AC1 a few times and booting up AC3 once. But I will get to it eventually! Fires of Rubicon is one hell of an action game, that I adored for every single one of my (currently) 67 hours of play. Going through the campaign with builds a little too busted for the AI most of the time was my dishonorable focus of the experience, but there's a lot else to do for every kind of person. The amount of freedom you have for messing with your builds for either single or multiplayer is not to be underestimated. Though it could be better. Here's hoping there will be a game that is.
Midnight Club 3 DUB Edition Remix
I played this game as a kid so much that the main menu and its theme are scarred into my mind, yet this whole time I had no idea what the game was actually like due to the fact that most of my playtime was doing a few races and just cruising around. Once you dive into trying to finish the story, MC3 is a much different experience. One that frustrated me so much, I got actually ill from the stress. Please take breaks, gamers! Your health is more important than finishing an 18 year old game! Still, I did eventually do it. Midnight Club 3's handling model and gameplay structure are really impressive in comparison to the much more popular Need for Speed series, and I have to admit I did enjoy the game a lot. It's just a lot harder than it ever needed to be. I'll probably never forget this game, and that's not really a good or bad thing. Just, advice from me, if it gets too hard, maybe switch to sports bikes. Buy that Ducati.
Test Drive Unlimited
Another car game, but this one I have the least to say about of any on this list. I had played TDU on PS2 multiple times before and thought it was awesome. The atmosphere and immersion of this game are unrivaled by any racing game to this day. But playing the PC version with a steering wheel and pedals made everything so much more incredible. I played the Platinum mod, which adds hundreds more cars and fixes a lot of issues with the original game (but not all of them; the game was still really rough and I hate how much the resolution is a pain to change). Overall, one of my favorite experiences with a steering wheel controller so far. Otherwise, a pretty good game if you like driving.
Super Mario Sunshine
An old friend, and a new feeling. I don't play 3D platformers as much as I wish I did, because they're really not part of my main priorities looking for games lately, but every time I play a Mario game, it's like I found love again. It was not the first time I played Super Mario Sunshine, as I had collected a dozen or so Sprites years before, but playing the whole game in I think two weeks during the latter half of the year was such an incredible experience. Unless for some reason you play it on the Switch, Sunshine is a game that loves you as much as you love it. And you do love it, right? I know I do. I'd love to play this game many other times in the future. Granted, that applies to every game here, I just wanted to say it out loud for this one.
Lethal Company
A fairly recent release! Having played it with many groups of people by now, both modded and vanilla, I think Lethal Company is probably one of my favorite multiplayer experiences ever. It is scary and hilarious, but also just really really good, to a level that surprised me for my quality standards of co-op (horror) games. Lethal Company turns friends into improvised horror movie actors and it's incredible. I'm almost at 30 hours played and will likely get to 40 at minimum. It's also pretty cheap and likely runs well on all sorts of machines, so consider checking this one out too.
Honorable Mentions
Witch on the Holy Night and Story of Seasons - Friends of Mineral Town are games I am adoring and could definitely go on this list, hadn't I started them both quite late into December. Maybe next year I'll give them a shoutout!

My thoughts on my One Piece journey and How it’s affected me 🩷
This is going to be long ass post lol
I think this is the platform that I never knew that I will ever comeback to but you know because of one piece and deprived of Sanji, Nami & Law content, ✨ here I am 😁✨ *shamelessly comeback after abandoned tumblr for good 11 years lmao*.
Anyway, I just want to let out my thoughts on my one piece journey and how it affected me. So bear with me. This is only place I can talk about One Piece because other platforms I had is related to kpop * Yes I’m a kpop fan. HEAVY ON NCT. Neo Got My Back.*
I know about one piece way back when I’m teenager. It’s just I don’t start to watch it/ read it somehow?? Idk why 🤷♀️ I’m also confused to as why because I did grew up watch anime like FMAB, Naruto, Bleach, Black Butler, K-On, Fairy Tail on tv. HECK I EVEN WATCH THE LONG ASS DETECTIVE CONAN TOO 😭
I think it’s because back in the day ( 2010 - 2017 ), I had lack of access to internet and not exposed to the series at all. Besides the local TV station here, only aired Naruto ,Bleach and those anime I mentioned . *I’m just 24 years old btw*
So around September 2023, I came across to One Piece content on TikTok and funny enough it’s Brook edit! I was so intrigued with this character and little did I know I watch a bunch of One Piece clip here and there on TikTok. To be fair, I am basically spoiled myself that time 😬 but I’m the type dgaf if I got spoiled because I won’t remember at all later on. 🤷♀️
So I decide to start watch it. First few episodes, my reaction was like “ Okay Luffy is an interesting guy🧐his body stretches and always smiled! He got damn hands tho ngl”. Zoro, my reaction was like “ahaaa SO THIS IS ZORO THAT EVERYONE KEEP TALKING ABOUT. Quite a Stud.”
Nami, interesting female character that I can relate because I like money 🤑 and her backstory is so sad. Ussop is also another character I gradually love over the time!
Then COMES MY HUSBANDO, SANJI. Man I have a thing for a man who can cook and looks good in suits. Sanji really makes me having my first anime crush ever! I DONT HAVE A CRUSH ON ANYONE IN NARUTO & Detective Conan but One Piece made me have one 🤧 *The upgrade from loving a guy that exist but doesn’t know you exist ( haechan, jaehyun & jaemin bb i luv you guys but Sanji 😮💨) to loving a guy who are not exist on this plane of earth 👀*
Little did I know I start to binge watch it. First day of watching, 30 episodes in 6 hours. 10 days later I already watch 325 episodes . but the show is so good! The story telling that oda created really hit home to me and the foreshadowing & lore he created makes me hooked unlike other story that I have read & watched.
Here’s the thing, to me every anime that I watch, I never like finish it . Sometimes I would just watch last ep and called it the day. This is not only apply on anime, it’s apply to western shows, my own local shows & k-dramas. So One Piece truly like solidified their place on my heart. I finally can understand why one piece are so loved for decades!
Also during those times, I hit rock bottom too. I quit my job because I was falsely accused for stealing shit at my work place and being discriminated by my ex-boss due to being the youngest one for my entire work.( everyone else was in their 40’s ). That time I was desperate as I need some money to achieve my bucket-list and want to lessen the burden of my family. Lord heavens knows what I’m going through, got death threats by that mf. Twisted the truth that causing my whole family cut ties with her severely. From there, I felt so stress and worried.
So One Piece is my way of escapism and it’s been a beautiful and exciting journey. Compared to last time, I took a 7 months breaks from works due to burn out & anxiety, this time it doesnt took long for me to overcome those situations and my “year-end blues” that I called is not as bad as before. I also has been actively try to get a job asap so I can buy an Ipad as I want to start learning digital drawing again after watching one piece.
One piece teach me it’s never late to start a new journey towards your dream! I used to dream to be a graphic designer or animators but my family don’t want me to be that. They want me to have that conservative jobs like working in government, an accountant etc. so essentially I gave up those dreams so I can make them proud of me. It’s been bothering me for so long as I felt like I should have go for what I want not what people want. At the end, I abandoned my accountancy knowledge and worked as an admin & a baker which I found a lot more less stressful that being an accountant. I guess what people describe after knows me personally being a confident, free-spirited & rebellious is just the way I am. AND oddly enough One Piece is just perfect manga & anime for me!
At this point, I already caught up with anime. I’m a weekly basis anime watchers now. I also has caught up with manga too. It’s been a huge revealing & fresh experience of One Piece for me. I felt like I being myself again! It’s weird but it’s the truth! I never felt so at ease and being seen. I just want to do what I want. It’s just fitting fate for me to be a One Piece fan!
That’s all what I want to say… if you really read this till the end. Thank you!
#one piece#I’m lucky to found one piece#monkey d. luffy#roronoa zoro#nami#ussop#sanji#tony tony chopper#PEOPLE SHOULD START WATCH ONE PIECE FOR BETTER LIFE! I’m being real here!#soul king brook#franky#jimbei#nico robin

Being noisy
If you want to forgive SM a tiny bit for the simple albums 127 gets, look at Le Sserafim's album covers...
I wish I got good money for barely doing anything...
In 2023 we had "Hybe vs SM&Kakao", in 2024 we have a new season of the drama titled "Hybe vs MHJ". I'm observing the ongoing fandom war (LSF vs NJ, Army vs NJ, IllIT vs NJ) with pop-corn at hand, and trying to wrap my mind around this obsession with companies and untalented members.
Got curious, decided to look at the source material itself. I do check most new k-pop clips when they come out to know the landscape and in searh for new groups that can interest me, but seldom finish or rewatch MVs again. I am no multistan, so I know other groups on surface level.
So, LSF. The group peaked in 2023 with album sales, but started to go down afterwards. 800k is still good for a gg (latest album numbers), however, so far they have had only one small tour with venues ~10k. Not bad for a 2 year old group, but not a Tokyo Dome with the 3d row opened as New Jeans did.
NJ also peaked in 2023, but their latest album still sold over 1mln.
They never had a tour though, lots of award shows and kcons instead. Interesting... so MHJ wanted to build the demand and go huge arenas right away in 2025.
I've watched all LSFs titles in a row. At first the group had a clear concept. A mix of singing trousers and girl crush, very americanised. Commercial, fake and soulless, but I can see the appeal for younger audience. However, there was a U-turn with Perfect Night and Easy towards, am I surprised?, NJ style. And then another weird decision that was Smart. Was reminded of g-idle summer songs. Finally, LSF cameback to its own concept with Crazy. Was there a change of creative producers in the middle of the road? Why the original concept that brought the group to fame was abandoned?
When Crazy came out my first thought was "oh, they really want to return popularity to the group'' (after the encore and can't sing label attached to the group). It was an evident high budget attempt at damage repair, someone was invited specially for that, tricks were used.
Wiki told me Sakura got 2nd place on Produce 101 2, that's why she was taken into the group. Why she got so popiular buffles me as she is a weak dancer and has zero stage appeal and a sour face. (Why people like to stan mediocrity? What's with this champeoning of nobodies just because they got famous.) And the producers of the group realise it. In all MVs up to Crazy (where she got the limelight to spite the haters) she is on the backrow and is shown as little as possible. Kazuha ex-ballerina and the shortest chipmunk girl (bob haircut in the first MV) mostly carry the group as faces, although the other two girls are decent as well.
Anyhow. I also watched some of the NJ MVS. And made a conclusion that LSF is indeed a vanity project for Bang. It can't bring in real money yet (their single mini concert tour earned less than 8mln USD and that's revenue, not profit). It's a successful group for now, but not enough to get rid of another gg that is doing better (whose comeback and tour were postponed for now).
Also, the approcah to NJ is completely different. Their image and concept is not just the songs. Looking at how Katseye follows LSF's formula, Hybe won't be able to handle NJ unless the old producing team stays. It's funny to read comments that NJ girls are so talented they should leave both MHJ and Hybe, they need noone to continue being a group. Lmao. The level of delusion of people who never created anything of scale on their own.

2023 In Review
2023 is almost at an end, and it’s been a busy ol’ year looking back! Here’s a lil ellraiser/TNgineer wrapped...
Started the year off strong dropping a demo for Rift Breach, an experimental lil dungeon crawler that was fun to make, helped me get better at scoping small, and got my out of my usual pixel art comfort zone!
Then @FletchMakes hosted a 7 day game jam + I couldn’t resist making the "APICO but frogs" I’d always joked about.
Mudborne was born(e) + I was overwhelmed with how much people loved it. It also show me just how much I can get done with a super strict scope and detailed plan
APICO had it’s 1st birthday! From a silly concept made in HTML to now published on all platforms with over 50,000 beekeepers playing - truly never thought it would go anywhere
I’m forever grateful to everyone who’s played and shared this funky bee game
At this point trying to keep up with socials for 3 different games was getting far too much and I needed help - enter @mibyledraws who joined as the first official TNgineer!
Thank you for all your hard work, wonderful videos, and helping me keep on top of everything <3
I released the 2nd free content update for APICO, ‘What Lies Beeneath”, with all sorts of weird and wonderful ocean friends.
It’s been tough to keep working on this mess of a game, but it’s worth it to see how much people have been enjoying all the new content
Decided that I wanted to take the Mudborne concept into a full-game, and started planning out everything along with a new art style and vibe for it (there’s only so far a sprite-rip of APICO can go lmao)
It’s wild to see how far I’ve started to come from tiny rectangle trees!
Towards the end of the year I quit my freelance contract and went full-time gamedev officially, not quite by choice but it was something I wanted to do for a while
I’ll now be able to spend all my time working on the games, as well as all the other little concepts I’ve had bubbling away in the back of my mind...
I moved from GameMaker to LÖVE, built a small framework for future games like Snacktorio + Mudborne, and contributed to the engine itself
Was the first time actually helping making a substantial contribution to an open-source project and I learnt a lot!
After a couple years in and out of development and a last minute engine change to LÖVE, I finally finished and released the demo for Snacktorio.
We’ve had some amazing feedback and it’s been so gratifying to finally get it out and see people enjoy it and confirm it as a fun concept.
Looking ahead to 2024, it’ll be my first year as a full-time gamedev (as well as reaching lvl 30!)
I’m planning to release the final update for APICO, as well as releasing either Mudborne or Snacktorio - might even have to drop some new demos too, as a treat…
Thanks for everyone who has supported me and TNgineers throughout the year.
Whether that was playing the demos, buying the games, sharing your progress, joining the discord, posting wholesome reviews, sending me cute bee pics - I'm truly grateful to you all <3
#it really is wild to me just how much i managed to do this year#even while working as a contractor half the year#now that im full-time i should be able to smash out a lot of stuff I've not been able to get around to doing#once the final apico update is finished off the floodgates can open#tngineers#indie games#game development#year in review#indie developer#indie game dev#apico#mudborne#snacktorio#rift breach

Finally getting around to doing this! Thank you @thelifeinmyshadesofgrey for tagging me ♥♥♥♥♥ I haven't done these in ages so it was fun to feel like we were back in the 'golden era' of tumblr xD
Tag someone you want to know AND/OR some of your besties: I don't wanna pressure anyone to have to do this, so consider this a warm suggestion rather than a I-will-judge-you-if-you-don't kind of situation @heyitszev :) (and if anyone else reading this feels like it, go ahead, the more the merrier lmao)
Favourite colour: This is a tough one because it all just depends on context so much. I'd say typically I veer more towards darker tones in general: really like a nice dark green, or a dark red or crimson. Purple is lovely too :D
Last song: Two Knights and Maidens by Crash Test Dummies https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NS2EcHzdYY
Say what you want about the lyrics, but the chord progression in this song is *chefs kiss*
Last movie: 9. A bit of a strange one perhaps, but an interesting take on a post-apocalyptic world brought to life in a style that reminds me of Tim Burton a little bit. Basically, the world has been destroyed in a war between humans and machines, and we're introduced to a group of sentient dolls, each with a number on their backs from 1 to 9, who have had to survive in this strange new world while figuring out why they were made in the first place. I don't wanna spoil this for anyone who hasn't seen it, so I'll leave it at that :)
Currently watching: I'm in-between series atm haha. Waiting for season 4 of the Boys, and just finished watching season 2 of 30 Coins. Might just do a rewatch of Andor or the Punisher to fill this void.
Other stuff I watched this year: Err… from what I remember (and yes, since we're only in January, I'm counting 2023 into this as well) I'd say Moon Knight, Andor, 30 coins, a rewatch of Supernatural (up to season 12), and the One Piece live action series. Out of all these Andor was perhaps my favourite, but I enjoyed all of them, and was pleasantly surprised at how well the One Piece adaptation remained loyal to the original works :D they obviously had to adjust some things but it still felt true to form. With Andor, I was hesitant to watch it at first because the last SW series I had watched had been declining in quality (weird writing, etc), however… Andor completely blew me away. The way it builds up to the climax was just so well done, the writing is superb, music fantastic, and it's one of those series I wish I could forget about completely so I could experience it for the first time again.
Shows I dropped this year/didn’t finish: I haven't watched many series I've not finished since I usually watch them to the end anyway, but looks like that new Percy Jackson series may unfortunately fall into this category?
Currently reading: I've been powering through the Harry Potter books. Started during the Christams holidays and I'm now on book 6. So far so good, though I've had to slow down with holidays being over. Might need to reread the Robert Langdon series as well after this as it's still one of my personal favourites.
Currently listening to: This changes daily but I do find myself drifting back to Riot music very often. So, that's music made for League of Legends, Valorant, etc. Not the soundtracks, but songs like Worlds anthems like "GODS" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3GouGa0noM) and 2021's "Burn It All Down" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Z6CHioIn3s). I also absolutely love "Breathe" from the official launch video for Legends of Runeterra (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TNhKAJwlj04). I also like this vid for it heavily featuring Darius, the only champ I ever played when I attempted to get into LoL before the toxicity got to me and I decided it's not for me :3 (didn't take long, but left me with a bit of a soft spot for him lmao)
I absolutely do not play any of these games but man… the music is on point imo. Something again about chord progression, don't ask what my obsession with that is lmao.
If I'm not listening to these and songs like them, I'm listening to heavy metal (industrial or symphonic), movie or game soundtacks, or oldies belonging to various genres from the 70s and 80s, occasionally 90s as well. Here's a couple examples:
Once You've Tasted Love by Take That
Take the Long Way Home by Supertramp
Evil Woman by Electric Light Orchestra
Misplaced by Sonata Arctica
And I will leave it at that as I've already included too many songs lmao
Currently working on: I'm currently making a backend for a gym app I'm working on. I somehow got the GraphQL elements working, now I need to get it saving to a database of somekind. I could do this locally or learn to save data to the cloud but I haven't yet decided which approach to take lmao. Overall, I'm just upskilling in the hopes of eventually landing a job as a full-stack developer. NO LUCK SO FAR aside a couple freelance frontend opportunities :/
Current obsession: Hmm….. good question. I'd say, despite me not playing it as much as I used to, I am slowly getting back to Elder Scrolls Online? Fire Emblem Fates is another, as well as Bleach.
#personal#i can't help that my tastes are very eclectic#i like so many things it might even be easier to point out things I don't like#but where's the fun in that :)

Of course!
( 1. ) Hello! Can I request a platonic Luz and Camila Noceda x reader where after they take reader in from foster care, they have to deal with her trying to start fires? Not in the house, but they go outside, gather up sticks and paper, and just set it on fire. I apologise if this goes against what your comfortable with! Thank you if you do! 🙏
↳ Requested; 12th February, 2023
( 2. ) Could you do Belos x male reader where they meet in the tide pools episode and Belos is just absolutely in love?
↳ Requested; 17th February, 2023
( 3. ) Hi! not sure if rqs are open (feel free to ignore or delete this if you want)
But could you write hcs, for Alador Blight x gn!reader, who collects little trinkets, like rocks, shiney things and what not? and the reader will just give him one as a gift randomly?
sorry if its bland lol, i js love alador :D
↳ Requested; 7th March, 2023
( 4. ) Hai again um my doesn't include any spoilers either cuz I have no motivation to finish the show lmao
Could you do a small fic with Hawks x gn!reader where reader has constant nosebleeds, lack of vision, no motivation to even get out of bed and when they do the workd feels like its spinning and dizziness/lightheadedness when theyre standing for to long that even the smallest brush of wind could knock them over.
This has been going on with me for a little bit over 2 years now and me nor my aunt (who's a nurse) knows what's going on with me and I've fainted many times because of it, and Keigo is one of my biggest comfort charcters and it's embarrassing but him kinda being there when this is happening is just is oddly calming lmao
And yeah you are my go-to! Your writing is absolutely amazing and I always find myself scrolling on your page on repeat! You have great works! :))
↳ Requested; 30th March, 2023
( 5. ) HIIIII!! I was wondering if you could request a Jealous Hunter x reader headcanon or scenario. Whichever you want. Maybe something with the reader having a flirty/touchy friend and Hunter does not like that at all. Or something else if you want! Thank you for reading this if you do!
↳ Requested; 1st April, 2023
( 6. ) My mind is broken after the finale so excuse me if this is cringey
Could you maybe do a Eda and Raine with a baby/child!reader where after the battle (this takes place during that time skip sequence) and the reader is seen all alone so Eda and Raine adopts them?
Reada is canon let’s go
↳ Requested; 9th April, 2023
( 7. ) Could you do luz and amity(seperate) with a human that has been in the boiling for a while and has had to get by being a conman and aren't proud of it.
↳ Requested; 10th April, 2023
( 8. ) Can I request headcanons of The Collector with a Reader who doesn't fear him and decides to be they big brother/sister? He deserves a better happy ending I'm sorry 🥲
Thank you!
↳ Requested; 10th April, 2023
( 9. ) Okay sso like many others, my mind is still processing the finale lol. I just want some parent Raine. Any headcanons on what Raine would call King, stepparent Raine for the win
↳ Requested; 10th April, 2023
( 10. ) Any headcanons on what terms of endearment Hunter calls Willow?
↳ Requested; 11th April, 2023
( 11. ) Hiii! Ik this is kinda a cliche request but may I request some head cannons for Hunter with a human S/O (maybe a friend of Luz? It’s up to you) who likes to sing? Thank you!!!
↳ Requested; 12th April, 2023
( 12. ) Hiii! If it’s alright, may I request some general Eddie Blight dating head canons? Thank you :D
↳ Requested; 19th April, 2023
( 13. ) Hi! Hope your having a nice day! could I request a Hunter x Shapeshifter!reader just some hcs of Hunter w a reader who can turn into different animals and mimic people/voices and uses said abilities to be a menace and cause chaos just cuz they can no real reasoning behind it it’s just fun.
Also here’s some ideas I’ve had about reader for if you do choose to do this request that might help!
-> I feel like reader would probably be able to change their body to be able to take on like a half form of things so like they could give them-self ears or like wings (I personally rlly like wings) and depending on if they have a ‘Main form’ of sorts they could probably have some of the features of that thing like idk enhanced hearing or their good at being quiet/Sneaky.
-> Also I imagine that they might get like aches if they haven’t done it in a long while just based on the fact that in a way it’s like changing your bones/Bone structure if that makes sense so if they do it too much (Like an unhealthy amount like every single day for hours on end) Or haven’t done it in a long time they’d get aches n stuff
->They would probably use smaller/Quieter forms to scare/sneak up on people
-> I also just wanted to quickly mention that they might have a ‘main form’ that’s kinda just like the thing they first ever turned into and is something they turn into when they don’t rlly think about it
If not that’s fine too! Thanks for reading my request :]
↳ Requested; 21st April, 2023
( 14. ) I saw in your sensitivity HC’s that you bc Hunter has a mommy kink and I was hoping you could elaborate on that more? NSFW? If you’re comfortable of course if not then please direct me to a list of rules so I can refrain from making you uncomfy again ❤️
↳ Requested; 21st April, 2024
( 15. ) hi hi!! hope ur doing well ^^ can i request some headcanons for luz and hunter? so in my head this would take place when the gang is trapped in the human world but ya know do whatever’s fun or makes the most sense. reader is like one of one luz’s few human school friends, and maybe they see Hunter around town with luz sometimes start like, developing a crush on him ya know? so they start asking luz about him and its like OBVI theyre like sorta into him even though they haven’t actually? talked? and they aren’t ASKING to talk to him either, they’re being avoidant in a very “teenage crush” way, but maybe they start asking luz to put in a good word for them, or asking what he likes or like asking luz to give him stuff for them. just their general reactions would be fun!! sorry if this is too much lol
↳ Requested; 24th April, 2023
( 16. ) Hey um. If rq are open Will you pretty please do a Hunter x Wild Witch!Reader, who specializes in Beast Keeper magic? They know the ins-and-outs of all the little (and big) critters of the Boiling Isles, and whenever they see something, they just go "NEW FRIEND!! MUST PET!!" So Hunter is VERY concerned for their well-being.
"Will you PLEASE leave the WILD GRIFFIN alone?!" "But he needs head scritches!! Griffins can't reach their heads!! :<" "... Just be careful. Please." -A convo that happens every week other week
Love your work btw<3
↳ Requested; 6th May, 2023
( 17. ) Hiii I love your writing 🫶 could you do hexsquad like reactions to seeing you again after they returned from the human realm?
↳ Requested; 23rd May, 2023
( 18. ) Hi! 💕
Can I request a fluffy headcanon about Fluff relationship (Friends to Lovers) with his shy!female!human!reader for Hunter (TOH)? Please??
↳ Requested; 24th May, 2023
( 19. ) Hello! 😊
Can I request a fluffy headcanon about hugs and hand-holdings with his shy!female!human!reader for Hunter (TOH)? I live for flustered and touch-starved Hunter! 💕 Please??
↳ Requested; 24th May, 2023
( 20. ) Hello! ✨
Can I request a long fluffy/comfort&hurt oneshot with prompts: "Hey-y, hey, don't cry. It's okay. C'mon, come sit under the blanket with me.", "Everything hurts. Being with you is the only good thing in the world anymore, Y/n.", "Just stay a little longer. Please, Y/n." and [She gives her gentle kisses on his tear-stained cheeks for comfort] about his shy!female!human! reader comforts Hunter (TOH)in her room at Eda's home for Hollow Mind aftermath? 😭💕
Hint: Hunter quickly decided to stay with his shy!female!human!reader in her bedroom because he trusted her so much and she is his safe place too.
I really live for flustered Hunter! 💗 Please??
↳ Requested; 24th May, 2023
( 21. ) Hi! 😊
Can I request a long fluffy oneshot with prompts: "Um, C-can I touch your ears, p-please? B-because your ears are so extremely adorable, Hunter.” and “G-go on..I don’t m-mind at all, y/n” about what Hunter (TOH) would reacts to his shy!female!human!reader gentlely touches his ears then strokes his ears gently made him purring like a cat in guest room at Luz's house on Human Realm? I really love to see Hunter's blushing reaction to it! 😆
I live for flustered and touch-starved Hunter! 💘 Please??
↳ Requested; 24th May, 2023
( 22. ) May I request Gus with a human reader who is just telling him more and more outrageous lies about human society and culture for shits and giggles? Like he asks them about the human society and they just start making up shit to see what he believes?

@ THE WITCHING HOUR Intro Post
Yo yo yo yo yo what's up it's me Scuffle, and unlike Knuckles I c hukle a fucking lot actually
I just came to the realization that I never actually posted any of my October Project drawings here, or now, as I've finally decided to name it only after finishing the darn thing, @ The Witching Hour!! So! Here's a masterlist where I contain what this project synopsis was about and some quick links to each individual drawing/story!
Long post underneath the cut!
What is @ The Witching Hour?
@ The Witching Hour (or, as it was called in the process the "October Project" was a self-imposed 2023 challenge where I drew a bunch of characters and wrote descriptions trying to tie them to different degrees of Horror and its subgenres. The collection contains a total of six entries.
Some stories range from genuine attempts to be scary to a silly romps, where the only qualifying factor that includes it into the collection is the fact it takes place near Halloween.
This was a challenge onto myself to see how many different blends of Horror I could tackle writing, as it is one of my favorite genres to indulge in, despite feeling like I've always had a rather bad Same-Character-Syndrome thing going on with a lot of my older Horror characters...eough........
Well, which stories are scary?
Around 4/6 stories are intended to be, in some way, genuine attempts at Horror. The other two are more on the comedic side. For this Masterlist, I'll label each story depending on my intended level of scare factor, if any. Of course, this may not align to any particular reader's reaction, and that's fine! But it's a general gauge of what I was attempting to go for.
Do you have a General Trigger/Content Warning list?
Absolutely!
For the more serious stories, please beware of:
Outright depictions of: Murder, body horror, emotional/psychological abuse, mental health issues (primarily anxiety), Capgras delusion, and paranoia.
Implications of: Human experimentation, implications of drug use with depictions of various side effects, self harm, mental health issues (primarily anxiety) and emotional abuse. There’s also a scene of attempted murder.
Let's Go Back To Ida Lane in specific ended up being a deeply personal story to me while writing it, much more than I ever initially intended when I started, so I do want to give a specific warning for this story in particular due to its heavy themes revolving around mental health, self harm, and feeling trapped in an abusive environment.
For the more comedic-leaning stories, please be aware of:
Cartoon violence???? I guess????
____
Other Fun Facts?
All the drawings were done mostly in MS Paint! Some did require some editing in an external drawing program like Medibang, but all the lineart is done in paint! 3v3
I'm really excited to share this Project with all of you over here!! I've been keeping the entries pretty confined to dA and Discord up until now, but I feel like this would be a good way to actually share more of my art, lmao.

on October 16th, 2020, I started playing Persona 5 Royal
on October 16th, 2023, I finished playing Persona 5 Royal
here's some thoughts I have on the game and the inbetween. spoiler warning btw - gonna talk about a lot
I picked up Persona 5 a few Christmases ago for myself while it was on sale at Gamestop because while I'd seen very little from the game I had grown pretty interested - I'd had an interest in Persona 4 and plenty of friends who enjoyed the series in various ways, too, so I figured it'd make for a good like. "in", as it were. but then I never really got around to playing it and eventually found out that a Royal version was coming, one that would have changes and additions and such and decided to just outright wait and get that one since like. it'd be better, presumably
and while I can't really speak to the vanilla experience as I hadn't played it and probably won't I will say that based on what little I know about the game as a whole I'm kinda glad I waited because Royal was an experience
I had few expectations given how unfamiliar with the series I was but I knew it'd be long and that there were sim elements to some degree, though I was surprised by just how engrossing it all was. it really does come across as a life simulator at times, with how much stuff you can do being kind of ridiculous in both good and bad ways imo. I loved the confidants (tho I still think there's one or two too many - Ohya literally never made it past level 1 for me lol) and the minigames like darts, baseball and such. every activity was at least amusing for the most part, though the job elements felt kinda shallow and there were some things I was surprised weren't more involved like the arcades
there's just so much here though, all the same, it's overwhelming but ultimately worth it to try and do at least a little of everything by the time the final credits hit. there's so much going on that it's why I stopped playing at times, because I'd stop for a day or two and then think about all I had going on in the game and all I had to do and just sort of groaned to myself lmao. it borders on a chore at times, but it's always fun. there's a flow to things, where you chat up confidants and play pool and do laundry and go to Mementos to do requests and then go to school the next day and answer questions so you can chat up confidants and play darts and go to the bathhouse. etc. etc. there's a cycle to things that's really addicting when it gets its claws in you, though things are at times kinda mundane and your interest in something can vary pretty heavily depending on the character(s) you interact with
which is to say that I really enjoyed it overall. just about everything up Futaba's palace was some of the most fun, engrossing and immersive stuff I've played in a game, snappy and addictive and so fun. I was having a blast, despite health and personal issues alike, and feel that period of the game is definitely the strongest as far as what I assume the base game was like, and it definitely lived up to whatever hype I'd seen up to that point. I loved the introduction with Ryuji and Ann and the buildup of the concepts and themes, I loved the gameplay and how it genuinely wanted me to think and consider my moves in a way I haven't in most other games, I loved the core cast and how despite some shallow stuff here and there they all got endeared to some level, the music, the style, the story. Yusuke was a great addition, Makoto was even better and Futaba's entire substory felt so impactful and strong, it really resonated with me, and how it connected to the larger narrative was great
and then I hit Okumura's palace and my opinions fucking nosedived lmao. it's not so much that I didn't like the place - the aesthetic was fun, the music and style were still great too. it's more so that Haru had been alluded to or otherwise had a slight presence to that point and then the payoff to her was. Ryuji and Morgana getting into some melodramatic fight over nothing? huh? I genuinely still don't really get it. I don't know why they couldn't do that story earlier on, when it would have made more sense for the characters - nor do I know why it basically assassinated Ryuji's character and likely Morgana's too
it doesn't help that Okumura wasn't at all interesting like the previous palace rulers were - which, granted, was probably intentional given that he wasn't really a natural target in the narrative - and that Haru stayed in the backseat for the duration. she didn't even get that big a moment prior to the boss fight, which was also maybe the single worst boss fight I've ever subjected myself to in a video game, one so bad and frustrating that I almost outright dropped the game as a whole before I took some time and learned how the max difficulty actually makes it easier lmao. the fight sucked, the writing jumped off a cliff, whole place was just nightmare fiction
things rebounded a fair bit with Sae's palace and Akechi taking a more serious role in things and it all kinda smoothed out again through the rest of what I assume was the base game. which I'll say - I loved Akechi. the guy was so much fun, from his social mask that hid the insanity beneath to everything he does in the third semester. easily one of my favorite rival characters in anything at this point, and his relationship with Ren Nobility was a total treat
but yeah. Okumura's palace definitely sucked a lot of fun out of the experience, enough that I took another long break lmao. but a short while back I came back around and knocked out the end of the "vanilla" story, as it were, and found it pretty okay. I think I would have been fine with it had I played that version, but since I unlocked the third semester and got the more Royal portion of the game I will say I don't think I was satisfied with the original ending in comparison
a lot of this stems I think from how much fun I found Maruki I as a character and then as an antagonist. Shido didn't really leave much a mark, the God of Control also didn't do much for me despite the Mementos palace being really neat in design/aesthetic. going from like, realistic, street-level shit people to a girl in desperate need for help to a guy who kinda didn't deserve it to someone who kinda didn't need it to a boring corrupt and shitty politician was kind of lame honestly. I know he technically jump started the game but Shido just left me with very little impact throughout - a guy that needed to go down, but that I wouldn't have flinched at being the third or fourth target lmao. I definitely would have preferred Akechi as the final boss, or something like that
but Maruki was a breath of fresh air honestly. I went into the game with relatively few spoilers or expectations but then it felt kinda obvious that his side of things was both new - an issue with Royal implementation in general imo, it all felt kinda obviously new though I'd say Maruki himself felt the most well fitted - and that whatever he was going on about would impact the end of the game
and boy did it fucking whip
I love antagonists like him. people that you get to know and see and understand as a good person trying to do good for others that's constantly stepped on and shoved around by people with less than good intentions, that finally break and try to take matters into their own hands and become somewhat twisted and corrupted by their own still respectable, upstanding morals and goals. Maruki wanted to help ease pain, to erase it from people and help them, and his intent never shifts wildly nor does he ever come across as some suddenly crazy guy and I really appreciated that. he believes what he's doing is right and, in some way, you could argue that it is - or at least that his goals are in the right place, while his means ultimately aren't
his palace and that entire third semester are sort of highlights for me and I can't really imagine a version of the game without that now. I found it all so strong for the most part that it probably stopped me from ever playing vanilla or at least from playing it for a while
this also brings me around to Sumire - I quite enjoyed her as a character and her story I thought was really solid and given some recent events a fair bit impactful but, as I mentioned, I wish the Royal stuff was better integrated. you go into the endgame and there's a meeting of the Thieves and they basically look at the camera and go "Jeez, sorry, Yoshizawa, you can't come along because you didn't exist when this portion of the game was made :/" and I think that's pretty detrimental. she kind of isn't much of a character throughout the majority of the game, she's rarely acknowledged by the rest of the cast (save Akechi, who I think had his role adjusted in Royal too fwiw) and it really shows, though nothing barring a proper remake of the game could really amend that I imagine and what is there is still good, just sorta nailed into the preexisting structure, as it were
as far as the more general game goes. yeah. this is the one, honestly. I dunno if I can classify it a masterpiece both because I haven't played the others and because there is plenty I didn't like - I found that the romance routes were all pretty hollow for the most part given how most of them end with a sudden turn towards the romantic lol, a good few side characters weren't all that engaging to me and only seemed to exist to give me something to do, Okumura's palace is genuinely that bad, Shido could have felt more important, the twist near the end of the base game was kinda whatever, etc. - but it's definitely really good and has certainly left a mark on me, enough that I keep wanting to play it even now with the game finished. I gave it a 9 when I put it in my media thread and that opinion hasn't really shifted much in the days since. maybe a replay at a faster pace would lower it, or raise it, dunno
above all else though, Persona 5 was an experience, and I feel that word is the best I have to describe it
it reflects a lot of my best and worst days from the last two years, it holds a lot of warmth for me. it's a comfort game, it's fun to play, it's engaging and immersive unlike most any other game I've ever played. there's a lot to it, a lot of gears and a lot of things, it's long as hell even despite my gaps in playing. there's downsides and low points, but there's also some of the rawest shit in a game too. it's got a killer soundtrack, amazing presentation, endearing characters and plenty of stories that gripped me. it ends with an exhausted fist fight against the biggest and yet more understandable antagonist you've faced while one of the coolest tracks in the game plays
it took me three years, to the day, to beat
and I'm glad I saw it through
#noble p5 tag#this post is how i found out i didnt even touch the game in 2022. what the fuck#I THOUGHT IT WAS TWO YEARS. IT WAS THREE

Footnotes: TGAA Case 2 Twitch Highlight
(Or: Why you should NOT meta Game Studios)
Hey everyone!
I want to begin using this site more regularly, though the way that the site formats its posts means that I need to get a bit more creative with what I post here. And while you will see things more regular such as scheduling posts, I think a great idea would be to post long form deep dives into many of the things I do for content as a sort of bonus. And so, here’s Footnotes: a series about me explaining things.
For this first article, I want to discuss the most recent video I have released to this date: my highlights video for Case 2 of The Great Ace Attorney. This post will be discussing elements of that video in order, so if you would like you can watch along with the video pausing at the timestamps listed to read up.
Two final notes before starting: first, this post will contain my own opinions on Case 2, as well as a brief overview of my opinions on Case 1, but will not cover anything beyond that. This is not meant to be a discussion board for the game as a whole. As of the time of writing, I have not finished the entire game, and as such this is not a place for spoilers or any of that nonsense.
Secondly, on the note of having not finished the game yet, I am currently going through the rest of the game on my twitch stream! If you’re interested in following along with the rest of my progress, you can find me over there!
Ok, let’s actually get to the footnotes now.
(Pre-video)
The first thing I wish to discuss is the production of the video. The video began production in mid-to-late May and ended production in early August, with a final release date of August 11th, 2023. This is a turn around of just over 2 and a half months, which is definitely higher than I would like, but is a bit more understandable when looking at the circumstances.
Over the summer I was maintaining both a full time job and a part time job while also trying to spend time with family I hadn’t seen in months. I had very little time to work on the video once all of this is considered, and even less time once you consider that I was still attempting to consistently stream on Twitch during this time. Combine that with this video being the longest video I’ve ever posted, with 7.5 hours of raw footage being boiled into 42 minutes, and this turnaround time suddenly looks a bit better. I wasn’t happy with it at the time, and I definitely want to make sure I have better turn around for my videos, but with hindsight this all is a bit better than I would’ve admitted at the time.
This long run time bit is going to be dwarfed in the near future btw: I have two videos already in the planning pipeline that I know will exceed it: one with 12 hours of raw footage at the end of it all, and one that currently has 16 hours of raw footage, and is estimated to have around 30 hours at the end of it all. Pray for future me I suppose.
(00:17 - 00:22)
I decided to carry over the prediction counter over from the last highlight video because it was one of the best ways to add comedy in post for this video. I have an annoying track record of predicting what will happen in a case hours in advance for no reason other than “Chekhov’s Gun lmao”. In this case I actually had a bit of comeuppance because of this, but we’ll discuss this in detail a bit later.
Of more important note is the goose. I did a pretty good job of explaining my general thoughts of Case 1 of this game in that videos highlight, and I want to save my fill in depth opinions for when I eventually cover that video in Footnotes, but a general recap is worth discussing. In short, it is one of the weakest Case 1s in the entire franchise for the sole reason that it is waaaaaaaaaay too long. Playtime for Case 1 for me came out to about 6 hours, and the case itself could’ve very easily been 2 hours and I wouldn’t have complained nearly as much.
Because of Case 1 being such a drag, I actually came into this stream with much more tempered expectations. I was still hopeful that it would perform well, but we were off to a rough start.
(00:22 - 00:31)
Ah, Herr Lock Sholmes. A character defined by being transformed into a knock-off version of a popular character due to copyright. I have my own opinions on the character that I will discuss a bit later, but I want to use this timeslot to talk about localization and the weird release this game had for western audiences.
Because this game is by definition a spin-off of the main franchise, I was originally not going to touch the game myself and rather watch a let’s play of a fan translation for the game. This is what I did for Investigations 2 (and also for the Layton crossover game lol), and I was planning to dive into it once I had a significant amount of free time to pay attention to it with. It just so happened though though that it was at around the same time that an official translation and release would be coming for western audiences, and even a port to Steam. This was enough for me to wait to play it myself and even enough for me to work through it on my Twitch stream, but it was a seemingly odd time to do drop this. Great Ac Attorney released in Japan in July of 2015, but not in the west until July of 2021, a difference of a full 6 years. That’s a lot of time for what’s just basically a translation…
I haven’t seen anything from the fan translation, though this is entirely because I am avoiding looking into this game on a deep level until I have fully finished it. However, I do know that there is one very major difference between the fan work and the official release: Sherlock Holmes became Herlock Sholmes.
As far as I’m aware, (a) Sherlock was named properly in the Japanese version of the game without the weird name change, and (b) Herlock is an already pre-existing knock-off that notably ended its run before the official Sherlock run ended. This leads me and many others to speculate that the delay for the western release was due largely to copyright issues with the Sherlock Holmes brand. I don’t know this for certain, and again I’m refraining from looking into anything until I’ve fully finished the game, but if this is true it would suck royally. Copyright law is always a sore point when it comes to fan works, but delaying a wide release of a game by more than half a decade because of copyright really grinds my gears. I understand that the English detective character being specifically Sherlock is actually important to the game, but I do also think you could’ve effectively got the point across while using a knock-off because Sherlock is such a popular figure. Delaying the wide release for that long when another solution does exist just feels really bad to me. That might just be me complaining though.
In future Footnotes for the other videos on this game, I want to reference changes made between this 2021 western release and the original 2015 Japanese release, but I will have to refrain from doing that here since I will not be researching anything about the game until I am fully 100% done with the game and it’s sequel. I accidentally did this to myself for the Zero Escape franchise and said to myself that I wouldn’t be letting that happen again, though that story is one for another time.
(01:02 - 01:08)
Nicknames are funny, what can I say. I started a running joke in the first case that ended up snowballing into me giving nearly every single names character in this game a really stupid nickname. Why? It’s funny. For some reason deep within the recesses of my mind remains a clip from an old episode of Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja where the comic relief sidekick wins a large scale chess tournament all while calling the pieces by egregiously stupid nicknames (The Pointy One for Bishop, as an example). I think ever since I saw that “stupid nicknames = funny” has been burned into my brain.
I am aware that the nicknames can be pretty annoying to some, and a few may even say I’m being disrespectful by using them, but I don’t mean to come across that way. Even with this being a game about solving murders, the Ace Attorney games are built upon having a lighter tone and being overall a bit goofier. Larry Butz would not exist in a world where Ace Attorney was meant to be played tonally straight. I’m doing the nicknames to exaggerate the goofiness inherit in the series and adding even more comedy to everything.
Anyways important nicknames from the previous case are Ryunosuke becoming Bruno, Kazuma becoming Dramatic Effect, and Susato becoming Deep Bow. There’s another character with a preexisting nickname, though we’ll get to them when we first meet them in this case.
(01:14 - 01:27)
I still stand by this assessment. Up to this point in franchise history, the main player character being the defendant was super rare and only really arguably happened. For it to happen twice in a row right at the start of the game really diminishes the impact it has, and also gets the player less invested in the character. Because both Case 1 and Case 2 have Ryunosuke’s motivation be basically just trying to save himself, it’s hard to feel like we actually learn anything about him. This ties into my opinions on his character arc as a whole, but that is a conversation that happens a long while from now when we get to discussing the game as a whole in the discussion of Case 5.
(01:39 - 01:56)
Locked room mysteries in theory are incredibly interesting because they play on your expectations. When a mystery looks like it’s super narrow and obvious, it gets the audience thinking outside the box and wondering how could the obvious solution not be the true solution. The problem is that you then get a situation where the audience pretty much knows that the locked room is fake from the start, meaning the investment in this trope falls hard from the outset. I have not personally read or seen a single situation where the locked room actually stays locked the whole time, there’s always some sort of clever trick. Somebody in chat during the stream said that Ghost Trick actually has a proper locked room, but I haven’t actually played that at all, so I wouldn’t know myself.
(Don’t spoil this btw. Ghost Trick is on the list for games I want to play, so don’t you dare spoil it for me. I’ll know it when I see it.)
(01:56 - 02:32)
Another brief aside on a mystery trope I don’t really care for: the dying message.
Look. When it’s stupid obvious that the message is fake, why bother with it? Writing a “last message” in Russian when we know the character is Japanese means it really obvious from the beginning that it’s fake, so when the game points it out later like it’s a big reveal it has no weight to it. I’m pretty sure I cut everything to do with this final reveal about the last message out of the video because it didn’t carry any weight. I understand this is more of a gripe with bad lazy writing than with the trope itself, but the trope is a very common victim of bad lazy writing, so I think pointing this out is warranted.
(02:59 - 03:05) and (04:14 - 04:49)
This is probably the single prediction I am the most proud of so far. Calling the knockout powder solution so early into this case really helped make everything fall into place while solving alongside it, and the game does a pretty decent job at letting you figure it out yourself. For what it’s worth, the reason I got it almost instantly is because just before this bit in the game is a scene of me talking about how weird it is for Ryunosuke to have slept through everything and because Chekhov’s Gun means him randomly saying his head hurts isn’t random.
As far as what I think about this twist, it’s good, but not really great. It gets developed on throughout the case and starts to spell out some pretty major ramifications, but it doesn’t actually define this case all that much. That’s probably a good thing considering there’s a much larger aspect of this case that really needs to take center stage rather than this smaller twist.
The rest of the scenario I laid out in the second clip is wrong, but I think understandably wrong given the info we had. The air vent was the only way in that we had seen so assuming that it came from there makes sense. The room being a mess done specifically to make it look like a fight had broken out makes sense when the potential killer wants to hide that Kazuma ingested sleeping powder of some kind. Motive is… uhh racism or something I guess. It’s not great, but for literally 20 minutes into the stream it’s a great line of reasoning.
(05:34 - 05:42)
Florent L’Belle. Redd White. Swan Hat Lady from the first case. Enough said.
(06:14 - 06:25)
While for the most part I want to dissect my personal opinions on characters after we have gotten all of the relevant case specific stuff for them out of the way, I think it’s safe for me to go ahead and talk about my opinions on Herlock Sholmes now because a lot of my biggest issues are visible right from the start.
Herlock is largely in the game to fill two roles: to guide the player with large information dumps when the plot needs it, or to guide Ryunosuke when he needs to grow as a character a bit. While in theory both of these are good things, the delivery of Herlock’s character really messes a lot of things up for me. Herlock in this game is depicted as eccentric and egotistical, leading to a character that often likes to proclaim how smart he is while blatantly getting a basic fact of life wrong. When you point this out to him, he often laughs at your face and calls you an idiot. Herlock also is quite often shown getting crucial details about the case completely wrong, even having an entire gameplay segment dedicated to you having to correct “The Great Detective” (I will explain my thoughts on said gameplay segment in a bit). When you point these mistakes out to him, he attempts to steal credit from you and will often say that he was mere moments away from saying that himself.
I think the game is trying to do it for comedy, but I personally don’t think that his statements carry enough charisma to make it feel funny or charming. As such, he just comes across as a rude prick most of the time, which is not something you want to be doing with an incredibly important main character of the game.
Overall though, my biggest issue for now is that Herlock has next to no arc in this case. He starts of randomly making accusations, and ends off continuing the same handcuff bit and making more random claims. Perhaps we have yet to see all that this character can offer, but in my opinion it’s a poor start. I understand this complaining is quite rambly and heavily opinionated, but at this point I’m starting to realize that I have more interesting things to say about my opinions on the game rather than on cool production facts, sorry lol.
(06:52 - 07:59)
Ok, actual production fun facts now. If you noticed that for a lot of these clips, the background music seemed to suddenly start and stop, that’s because I actually put many of the clips in this section out of order. This investigation segment right here throws a lot at you very quickly, some of which is expounding upon information you had already started to work on. As such I fudged with the order of the clips to make the overall narrative flow of the video come together better, though the background music slightly suffered as a result.
(08:00 - 08:12)
When it comes to my editing style, I’ve really come to appreciate and enjoy the hard cut. I think transitions between scenes with accompanying swoosh noises is distracting and takes away from what the video is trying to convey. That being said, I have been playing around with many of the movement sliders in more recent videos to get things to slide around more where I think it feels appropriate.
In this section, the final message Kazuma wrote in his diary is very important to the story, but I didn’t have much interesting dialogue of me reading the whole thing out. Even if I did though, it’s quite a bit of reading, and I felt having 20 seconds or so of me reading these would halt the flow of the story. As such I needed a solution that would grab the viewers attention and get them to read the text of their own volition without slowing down the pace, and having them “fall” onto the screen and then slide off was a fun way to do so that also looks pretty slick I would say.
I think I like adding more to the edit in this manner. Telling a narrative with the video is still the first priority, but one of the things I want to accomplish with each video is to continue to grow and show the progress I’ve made in editing and production. Editing videos has become a true hobby of mine, and I really enjoy getting to express myself in this way. Who knows, maybe even continuing to show my growth as a creative editor will interest some of you all reading this to consider helping me continue to grow as a content creator so I can continue to fund this hobby of mine *wink, wink*.
(08:33 - 09:01)
Ah, Detective Hosonaga. I get pretty notably frustrated with seeing this character return, but he’s a minor character in this case so it’s not a huge deal in all honesty. Plus we see him get beat up later, so that’s fun. If/when I make a Footnotes post for the video on the first case for this game, I’ll talk about my opinion on the character there. For now though, this post is honestly going to be long with or without the inclusion of minor character dissections, so let’s try and aim for brevity.
Of slightly more notable note is the use of the Akira meme. It was floating around on Twitter around the time of production, and I felt it accurately portrayed my opinions on seeing The Butler of all people turn out to be a reoccurring character. While I originally wanted to use more clips of him to more accurately match how the meme is done, I realized during production that the only easily identifiable thing that he does in one frame poses is the “anime glasses push”, so I decided to just play that animation in full rather than rapid cutting even though it lessened the impact.
One drawback I realized a bit too late about including this meme was that it actively flashbangs the viewer when you watch it as there are multiple instances of nothing but a white screen. Oops.
(09:14 - 09:29)
Yep, me using a dolphin sound effect to cover swearing is me directly lifting a joke from SpongeBob lol. Swearing is something I’m trying to do less of largely because I’m starting to grow and realize that it’s not really necessary the vast majority of the time, though since I’m trying to turn content creation into a part time career of sorts this applies doubly so. I will admit, however, that even though I’m trying to limit it, using the dolphin sound effect is really funny every single time.
(10:11 - 10:20)
I often “blah blah blah” through many of the more unnecessary textboxes that serve to pad out the game, though I’ve noticed that often I try and pitch my blahs into whatever song I’ve got on my mind. These blahs here are actually the Smash Bros Ultimate main theme if you listen closely. Why? I don’t know. I thought it was funny.
(10:20 - 10:59)
Honestly, Bif Strogenov is one of my favorite minor characters in the game. Lots of funny quirks, actually semi-important role to the story, easily let’s me do a funny voice whenever I say his lines, all around a great addition. No notes.
Also another instance of me adding in more motion to my edits when I think it works better than a simple hard cut and doesn’t distract from the overall point I’m making. This time it actually exaggerated the point since I wanted to draw attention to the unnamed third sailor here anyways.
(11:00 - 11:14)
Ok, I’m going to be completely 100% honest: I don’t remember why I put the voice line in the video. I did it even remember it being in the video until I rewatched it. My best guess was that I thought I needed to include this clip because it’s important to explaining what’s happening narratively for the video, but I though it was boring and dragging the pace, I guess?????? I mean it’s really funny when it catches you off guard I guess.
(12:02 - 12:29)
I have to admit, while I don’t like Herlock as a character in this case, he does get the best non-court gameplay segment in the game. Going around and examining fine details about the witness and the scene around them is creative and helps add depth to the world, and the condensed nature of the segment really helps to make it feel like you the player are the ones making the deductions. The gameplay feels natural and easy to understand, and best of all, it has a musical theme in 7/4 so it immediately gets a million bonus points for that.
What can I say other than I like to have gameplay in my game. I don’t like that I often have to mash through a lot of textboxes that feel unnecessary just to unpack the actually cool mystery elements, so when those mystery elements are given a form of gameplay to help break up the monotonous textboxes it does wonders. 10/10, fantastic gameplay element.
(13:43 - 13:58)
Ms Pavlova’s introduction does a lot of work at setting up her character in such a way that the last third of this case hits hard, so it’s important that she is introduced as a meek and shy character here. That being said though, it really does make one particular aspect of the ending to this case a bit… strange. We’ll get to that at the end though.
The earrings being something I pointed out this early though was a delightful find for editing me to use to narratively set up the flow of the video. In my opinion it works really well with how it played out: the earrings are introduced early in what at first seems to be yet another dry humor style comment about the game, only for them to have greater relevance later in the video. Things working out in this manner is the sort of thing I would do if I was scripting my own playthrough, so finding an opportunity like this was a great surprise.
As one last note about the earrings though, I needed to draw attention to them here to make them stick out just a bit more in the mind of the audience, so I decided to once again use a sliding motion to grab focus. While this seems no different from the other times I mentioned this type of edit so far, this is actually the single “shot” that I spent the longest amount of time on for the entire edit. For some reason the speed and duration of the zoom into the earrings just felt off every time, so I spent a good 45 minutes fudging with the sliders in Premiere Pro trying to tweak the zoom until it looked right. Even now when watching the video back it still looks ever so slightly off to me. Some may even say that if I hadn’t stopped myself, I would still be editing that one shot to this very day…
(14:19 - 14:32)
I actually really like this joke, one of the few from Herlock that really sticks the landing for me. So much so, this shot is actually my computer desktop right now, which always gets me strange looks when I’m in class at university lmao.
Also yes, I cackle like a witch. Sue me.
(16:20 - 16:53)
I stand by this, bruising should’ve occurred on the body, but it isn’t really worth fighting this point too much. The game kinda said from the outset “no, this isn’t important, please just ignore this and continue on”, so I rolled with it.
Oh, and that text dump was literally a copy paste of the first paragraph on the Wikipedia article for blunt force trauma. Also of note, apparently a Wikipedia article for blunt force trauma exists.
(20:50 - 21:46)
The discovery of the door bolt being poorly made has to be something that happened in order for the plot to work. Like I said earlier, this case just flat out doesn’t work if it’s a locked room. That being said though, is this really something that would be a surprise to anyone other than the passengers?
This boat and this crew have been sailing for years as established later in the case, and presumably the emergency alarm had to have been used in some instances during that time. You’re telling me that every time the alarm goes off all of the door bolts in this section of the ship slide locked, and that the crew hadn’t done anything about this clear design flaw in years? And the only way to get into these rooms once they’re locked from the outside is to bust them down? I feel like that should’ve been addressed a long time ago.
Is this a nitpick? Yes absolutely. It doesn’t really ruin the case in any way, but it is really funny when you think about it. The implication that they have to replace the door bolt every single time the ship makes an emergency stop is hilarious.
(22:06 - 22:09)
Ladies and gentlemen, may I introduce you to the largest reason I wanted to make this article in the first place.
It’s pretty obvious that there’s a time skip of some fashion at this point, and I wanted to call out this in the video because it is quite noticeable. What’s less noticeable however is the fact that this time skip is actually one that spans over a year and a half.
No, seriously.
At the start of Season 4 of my content, I had just moved into a new, much more academically challenging university, and it was affecting me mentally really badly. From August to December of 2021, I streamed a grand total of 3 times. Once for the first case of this game, once for the first half of this case, and then a third time for Inscryption, which is a game that came out around that time that I was pretty excited for. I fully intended to stream the second half of this case and the rest of this game around then, but didn’t because I didn’t really have the spoons to stream anything around then. It was rough, but my mental state did eventually improve. This did ultimately lead to a change in mentality for streaming as well, but I’ve discussed that in length before in my discord server.
Once I had gotten back into streaming, returning to this case was something that didn’t seem like a good idea for stream. It had been months since I last streamed the game, and there’s a good chance nobody would have any idea what was actually going on, leading to a boring stream. My idea to combat this was simply to wait: I would wait until the video highlight for the first case came out to return to the second case, and then I would simply catch everyone up on what had happened at the start of this case. When it had only been a few months since the stream it seemed fine, but the plan quickly fell out of favor when it took yet another 6 months for the video highlight for case 1 to come out.
At that point, I realized it would be quicker and easier to simply record the rest of this case off stream and stitch it into the video as if it had been live streamed. I intended to fully hide the fact that time had passed, but that became quickly impossible when I had realized that since it had been nearly a year and a half since the original recording date of that first stream, not only had I changed nearly all of the settings for my microphone, but my voice itself had actually changed a little bit. I just had to accept my losses and through in a quick (intentionally terrible) transition to try and jokingly point out what had happened without disrupting the flow of the video to heavily.
It gets weirder though. A bit later in the video you’ll hear my voice change in quality again. This one is actually because I cut a full 30 minute period of silence out of the video when I took a break to go get lunch, and on my way out I must’ve bumped the microphone, dislodging it from the cord just enough for the quality to drop again. Professional content creator energy right there.
But there’s still more to say about this segment! You see, for the backing music for this small transition I used the “You nearly failed” music from Sonic Unleashed, which works fine especially when you have the context like I have just laid out for you, but wasn’t my first choice. I originally wanted to use a song I had stuck in my head from a bunch of older YouTube videos I had watched growing up, but when I tried to go and look for it, I found that none of the music in those older videos every got properly credited. Instead, you just got linked to a website with about a million different free-to-use music samples. I went digging for a few hours trying to find the specific piece I was looking for, but I wasn’t able to find anything. I considered trying to find a video where the specific song was used to link in this post and see if you all could help me find it, but with how much time it took me to find it used in a video before, and with how much time I’ve spent writing this post across multiple days, it just didn’t seem reasonable. Maybe I’ll make an addendum and point it out later.
So yeah, I wasn’t kidding when I said this small segment of the overall video was the largest factor behind me wanting to make this post. There’s a lot going on behind the scenes of each of these videos, and I thought it would be fun to share some of the weird and interesting things that have come up. Hopefully people will actually be interested in reading all of this and I’m not just wasting a bunch of my time.
(22:57 - 23:11)
The chicken image here because this laugh really does sound a bit like a chicken, but I ended up using it because I had just recently before this used the image in the previous TTT video on my channel and I thought it would be funny. Considering I often delete assets immediately after I use them, the fact that this chicken image of all things has stuck around for multiple videos is quite funny to me.
(25:57 - 26:03)
The case loses points for the snake juke by the way. Red herring that exists for no reason other than just for the game to go “haha gotcha!” later and the snake quite literally has no relevance itself beyond being yet another gag. It’s a filler lead that takes up a lot of time and ultimately goes absolutely nowhere. Boo.
(26:22 - 26:35)
I honestly wish I had some good juicy behind the scenes bit for this gag since I think it came out really well, but there’s not too much for me to add other than I like it and the voice is funny. Funny voices just work too well sometimes.
(26:57 - 27:11)
Alright, the blunt sword theory is one that I really wish had been the case, especially looking back on it now and realizing the sword plays next to no role in the game as a whole other than being a literal prop. The running theory was going like this: early on we spend a bit of time going through the ships rules of passage. While this was to set up the “no animals aboard the ship” rule, the game also mentions a rule about “no dangerous or lethal weapons” which Kazuma’s sword absolutely would full under. Knowing Kazuma and his whole honor thing, we figured it was likely that they gave him a blunt prop sword to use for training while the voyage took place, with the real sword being locked up somewhere. Once it was discovered that Kazuma’s cause of death was due to blunt force trauma to the back of the neck, the theory was that while Kazuma was distracted by the “speckled band” in the vent, the killer snuck in to the door thinking that Kazuma would be asleep. Kazuma wasn’t, however, since he didn’t eat any of the contaminated food, yet the killer still had a chance since Kazuma was turned around and distracted. The killer picked up the sword hoping to use it to cut him only to find it blunt, then proceeding to hit Kazuma on the back of the neck with the blunt sword since it was about the only option left. The killer used the emergency stop to cause a commotion in the room and hide the fact that the sword had been used as the murder weapon, and Pavlova discovered the body, but didn’t want to since they were also a fugitive aboard the ship.
Is this a perfect theory? No, absolutely not, but it’s a pretty fun one in all honestly, and I genuinely do like it more than the actual outcome of the case (especially when it comes to the murder weapon). I cut a lot of this theory being formed from the video since it ended up being largely off the mark, but I still wanted to include it here since it is a fun theory. We’ll get to my opinions on the actual ending of the case very soon, don’t you worry.
(31:22 - 31:46)
Ok, I’m picking this clip here to actually talk about something I don’t like about how this video ended up. There’s always something for me that when I look back on a past video of mine I wish I had changed, and for this video, it’s that the last 12 minutes or so basically just become me reacting to the story of the game progressing.
I think it was necessary for me to include all of these clips since it’s the conclusion of the case occurring, and I think part of this has to do with the odd structure of this case (again, we’ll get to that very soon), but it’s such a large portion of the video where I barely provide any commentary. I think at this point in the editing process I was ready to just call it done and ship it out since I was already well behind where I wanted to be with it, but that’s not a great excuse. I don’t add anything to the end of this video aside from a few moments which just isn’t good for making the content my own and actually justifying why you the audience should watch my video over someone else’s.
At this point I can’t exactly change anything about it, and I suppose less to talk about for the video means less to talk about here in this post lol.
(35:47 - 35:55)
Alright, let’s talk about how this case is structured.
The fact that we never go to court, or even leave the ship at all in this case is a pretty big curveball, and one that I certainly was not expecting. It makes the game feel less like a traditional Ace Attorney game and more like one from the Ace Attorney: Investigations side games. A lot of the reason I didn’t see this ending coming is because I didn’t think the game would pull a formula break like this, and it paid off well… in the short term.
Looking back on the case though, everything rides on this twist. It’s obvious from the beginning that the culprit is whoever is staying in the next door cabin, and the only reason we don’t follow through is because once we meet the shy and meek Pavlova, we assume that there simply must be someone else who we just haven’t met yet. And while keeping us confined to the ship is a twist, it’s one that causes the entire game to revolve around 3 rooms, two of which are nearly identical looking, and the third being just a hallway.
The biggest issue for me though is that this twist means that the player never gets a chance to truly show that they’ve learned something important about the case. We’re never truly tested to show that we’ve discovered something, meaning that the fact that I, for instance, saw the sleeping powder and earring twists coming early made no difference. The case is almost entirely on rails, and the player never gets to actually solve much of anything outside of the one gameplay segment with Herlock.
Is this case interesting in the moment? I’m not going to deny it, and you all heard my opinions from the video, but now that I’ve taken a step back and thought about it, the case is just missing what truly makes it an Ace Attorney case, and instead feels like a big narrative sidetrack just to have Kazuma get mentor cursed.
(37:13 - 37:53)
Now onto the opinions on how the mystery played out narratively and about Pavlova being the killer.
Let’s get the bad out of the way first: the motive for this case boils down to a heat of the moment kill spurned from a complete misunderstanding. This sucks. This sucks. This really sucks. This makes Kazuma’s death into what is essentially a fridging, as all of the narrative weight he carried died because of no real reason in particular. There isn’t some connection to the previous case and Brett holding some sort of grudge, there isn’t any connection between Kazuma and the killer, and there’s no connection between Kazuma dying and Ryunosuke’s goals or motivations. Kazuma basically just died because of a convoluted accident, and that really sucks. It’s painfully clear that the writers just needed Kazuma dead, and spun a story around that death rather than spinning a story around the murder and why it occurred.
As one other negative, the murder weapon is basically just the bed post. Really? You put all of this focus in the middle of the case about the cause of death and it turns out it’s a literal background element that killed him? You can do better than that.
All this being said though, I think making Pavlova the killer worked out pretty well. While her motive may as well not exist, the game conveys it in a tragic way that really makes you feel like it wasn’t done out of malice. At the end of the case, we still want to see the best for Pavlova despite the fact that she just admitted to murder, and it takes some clever writing to get us to feel that way. The murder feels like a tragedy in universe, and that’s a great way to end the case.
(41:06 - 41:25)
One final production note before I get to closing thoughts, apparently the YouTube recommended videos at the end are 100000% not centered properly, which sucks because I set up the end card specifically to try and have the text on the left not get covered, but I couldn’t because the videos wouldn’t center. It drove me a little nuts, but I guess I know for the future now.
Oh, and this is also the first time that I’ve included supporters at the end of the video! It a new perk that I want to start including, and if you’re still reading this article up to this point then maybe you would be interested in supporting the channel and having your name in the credits of one of my videos forever.
(Post-video)
My overall thoughts on the case is that while the case has many cool and interesting elements, a lot of those cool and interesting elements come with some downsides and baggage, meaning the case comes out pretty mixed for me. A 6/10 overall. It’s not bad, but it’s not good either. It’s kind of just ok.
I made the thumbnail for this video in Photoshop, and it came out really well. I was making it and occasionally sent WIPs to my good friend LlamaIsFuzzy, and I could tell that each iteration made him laugh more and more. That image of Strogenov staring like a shocked pikachu has even become an emote in the discord server.
My overall thoughts on the video as a whole are that it came out alright, but I’ve definitely showed that I need more work when it comes to longer videos and keeping the audience fully engaged the entire way though. I even started skipping segments to wards the end of the video on this rewatch, which isn’t exactly a great sign.
The overall reception of the video matches this take from me. The video has been out for about a month and a half now and is firmly sitting towards the bottom half of my videos in terms of both views and likes. I think I’ve learned some pretty important lessons when it comes to much longer videos, and I should hopefully be able to translate those well into the future entries in this series.
Speaking of future entries, the rest of this game will be getting a video highlights edit as well, though it may end up being a while. This series falls into what I consider “medium effort videos”, which means between university and a my part time job practically working me 8 days in a 7 day week I don’t have a ton of time to invest into them. This usually means that these videos only get worked on during long breaks from university, normally summer break, thanksgiving break, and winter break. Even then, however, I have a lot of videos above case 3 of this game in the queue. My Stanley Parable stream and TTT videos are long overdue, and I want to get back around into doing Hitman vs Twitch Chat more regularly on the channel. That said, the medium effort videos queue has shuffled around already a few times in the past, maybe we’ll see the next video in the series sooner if there’s enough interest in it.
And that’s about all I have to say for this edition of Footnotes! I’ve put well more time into this than I really expected, so I really appreciate those of you who decided to take time to read all of this. I’m sure there are plenty of grammatical errors both from me and from autocorrect trying to make me look like a fool, so please loudly point those out to me so I can know how much of a fool I am.
If you all have any further questions for me, let me know! I’ll make sure to answer any interesting questions you all post here to elaborate on elements I may have explained poorly.
Similarly, if you all would be interested in seeing more posts like this, I would love to indulge! Writing this and looking back on the production cycle of a video is honestly really nice and it forces me to reflect on how I can improve as a content creator more. If there’s enough interest I’ll start writing posts on many of the older videos on my channel, because there are certainly some fun stories to tell about them.
Thank you all for your time, and I do hope your day is going well.

Pond Expansion Progress
(mastodon backup) First post:

11 April 2023 I rebuilt the pipe manifold for the bog filter in #JysGarden #pond SIX TIMES today, and it's still not working properly.
I decided to install it anyway (at half working) because I had wasted $200 worth of parts and two days on this and I need it done... 😭
Hopefully this won't bite me later
Also: my pipe cutter broke A slow air leak in one of my inflatable pools holding pond water caused me to lose ~100 gallons overnight
This pond expansion has NOT been going well for me
18 April #JysGarden #pond liner came today. It was 500 lbs! Had to get help from 2 different people, but it's in, now.
Meanwhile, my #bogfilter was having issues and I had to do some emergency surgery. I won't get into it, but basically today was another not-great pond day lmao
It got stuck and I can't be bothered to try to make another post with all the alt text and everything 😩 20 May
I am #pond cursed. There was a leak I couldn't find for a year and a half, and instead of calling it quits like a normal person I spent 5k redoing the whole thing and making it bigger.
The bog part alone was like $500 and still ended up wrong, even though I remade it 4 times. I finally "finished" everything right before I left for FWA, but I noticed it losing water about 3 days before.
When I came home from FWA (thursday) my pond was half empty, pumps running dry, all my pond plants dead or dying.
I was pretty sure I knew where the leak was (where the liner from the bog connects to the pond liner) so I patched that up immediately after getting home and let it sit for 24 hours. Yesterday I started filling the pond again.
It lost like 2 inches overnight.
I guess now I'll let it leak with all the pumps off to see how low it gets to see if I fixed what actually needed to be fixed, but honestly at this point I'm not sure what I should do. I really want a pond and I know every year I say this will be the last year but at this point working on the pond is practically what I live for so to lose that would be devastating…
