(Feedee/Wg Encouragement) Cant hide it
Hey there, fatty.
What, did you think I wouldn't notice that belly of yours? Did you really think sucking it in is going to hide that ball of lard you're growing? If you laid off the snacks and second helpings then maybe you could pass it off as a bit of winter weight, but look at you. Its not like you gained a couple pounds, you gained enough to make the freshman 15 look like water weight.
Don't try to hide that potbelly now, don't act like you are suddenly embarrassed, you knew you were packing on the pounds, that's why you buy oversized clothes in the hopes of hiding it. It looks like that shirt is already getting kinda tight, it seems like you didn't learn your lesson when you busted your last button, or the one before that. Maybe you'll fill out that shirt too until your belly is sticking out of the bottom and it hugs your chest so much you can see every detail. You'll go waddling and breathing heavy into a clothes store to get a new one, constantly pulling down your shirt to hide your deep belly button that is visible even through the tight shirt that strains your belly. The clerk will turn you away and tell you to go shop online, that they have no more clothes that fit you, you outgrew them all.
I can see the little tears in your pants, your thighs are growing like bread in the oven, threatening to rip them to shreds when you bend over too much. What would you say then? That you might have had one too many bites to eat? Admit it, you are fat, and there is no way of hiding that. When you wear sweatpants or other baggy pants its obvious you have a lot of jiggle to your behind, that your hips are just too wide, its what all fatties wear after all, you fit right in with all the porkers and piggies gobbling down fast food.
You can blush and deny it but you know it is true, the scale doesn't lie, trying to cover up and wear layers to hide it only makes it so much more obvious. Its not like people don't know you're obese, over time you have just been growing and growing, and the results have been jiggling and expanding all this time. Do you think nobody saw your ass shaking and wobbling with every step? They watched you as you devoured large swathes of food, and they saw how much of a cow you were, how every time they saw you, you were just a bit larger, stance a bit wider, belly a bit rounder, chins a bit more defined. It is certainly not a new development the way you have been putting it on.
You eat so often it makes people wonder if that is all you do, that you just spend all day thinking about eating. Your belly juts out as you go for seconds and thirds at meals and you are left rubbing your tight and sloshing belly, curled over yourself almost in a food coma. You love eating food, so why would you stop? You'll go on a diet tomorrow, maybe lose a couple pounds next week, by the time the next month rolls around you've added another roll to your body and your curves are just that much more pronounced.
Truth is you like the weight you've gained, but its not like people would understand that you secretly love to jiggle your belly while you are alone and watch as it wobbles. You look at your curves in the mirror, and can't help but caress your love handles and marvel at how soft they are. You squeeze your thighs together to feel the soft, pliable flesh rub together so perfectly that you drool imagining what it would feel like if they were even bigger. You sometimes grab your ass to see how much more it has grown, how much it sticks out from your body now, how much it practically vibrates when you slap it.
When you sit down your thighs and ass splay out all around you and you can't help but to explore it all with your hands and feel just how much wider and softer you are. You take your belly in your hands and play with the rolls and fat between your fingers. You wonder how much more you could grope and fit in your hand if you grew more, how soft and squeezable you would be. Large, larger than you are now, you want the different parts of your body to expand with fat like a balloon does with water. You want to admire your assets as they get even more noticeable and attractive. The oversized clothes you buy are really just goals for how absolutely big you want to make yourself, with milestones that stretch further and further.
So why hide it? Why hide what you crave, what makes you hot inside, stuffing your face with fatty foods, becoming a body of lard and enjoying every moment of it. Of becoming bigger, larger, fatter, until you are fatter than anyone could have imagined you getting, even yourself. You become so fat people have to do a double take when they see you waddle. Wear tight shirts that show off your huge belly and rolls and tight pants that hug your ass and curves, that leave your muffin top hanging over and jiggling as you walk. Show off how much a fatass you are and that you are the biggest around. Its what you want after all.

DIY Stair Baluster Plant Stand
Tumblr media
Project by Kate Pruitt:
i am a very sad person this week…i used to have access to what i thought was an inexhaustible supply of old stair balusters. i love having them around because they work beautifully for all sorts of projects, and whenever i ran out i knew i could walk into this one salvage shop and sift through a giant bin of them. but alas, i went looking for more yesterday and they are all sold out :( if you are the collector or store owner or whatever who went to said salvage shop and bought them all…smart move. i should have cracked the piggy bank and done it a long time ago. even though my chief supplier is currently tapped out, however, i vow that this will not be the last baluster project you see from me.
this plant stand is a great project for anyone who is picky about plant presentation; the height of the stand and the plant is completely customizable, and you can finish the wood in numerous ways, or repaint it whenever suits your fancy. for heavier plants, use four legs instead of three for added sturdiness. since i only had three balusters left (sniff) i have to be content with the tripod configuration. seek out the balusters in your area, and play around with it. have fun!! –kate
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Materials:
– 3 – 4 chair balusters/banisters (i used 3, but would recommend 4 for extra sturdiness. you can purchase these new at hardware stores, or try to find them at salvage shops for usually far cheaper) – wooden peg plugs 1/4″ thickness (you can buy these at hardware stores too) – super strength wood glue – drill with 1/4″ bit – wooden circle, any diameter between 12″ – 20″ (you can buy these pre-cut at hardware stores or craft stores) – pencil – saw (hand saw or chop saw would be useful) – hammer – paint – tape measure and/or ruler
Instructions:
1. Decide what height you want your plant stand to be. Cut the bottom of the balusters level if they did not come that way. Hold all of you balusters with their bases level and use your ruler to mark the desired stand height on each baluster.
Tumblr media
2. Cut each baluster to the marked height. Stand them up and check that they are all level and the same height.
3. Stand them up and place the wood circle in the middle to eye the height you want your plant to sit at (mine is 20″ from the ground). use your ruler to mark a dot at the desired height on each baluster. put the dot right in the middle of each baluster. make sure that the thickness of the wood at height where you connect the wood circle to the balusters is enough that you can drill in 1/2″ and not go through the entire baluster. if the baluster is too thin at the point of contact with the wood circle, the whole stand will be flimsy.
Tumblr media
4. Drill a 1/4″ hole, about 1/2″ deep into the baluster right at the dot you’ve made. Repeat on all balusters.
Tumblr media
5. Measure (or use math to calculate) the circumference of your wooden circle. Divide it in thirds or fourths (if you are using 3 or 4 balusters, respectively) and mark  a dot in the center of the sides at each interval.
Tumblr media
6. Drill into the wooden circle about 1/2″ deep right at the dots you’ve marked. Now tap a peg plug not each hole in the wooden round. It should sink in about half of the peg’s length.
Tumblr media
7. If you want to paint anything, remove the plugs from the circle and paint now. Allow everything to dry fully.
8. Use a hammer to tap the peg plugs into each baluster, and check that your stand is level and the circle is also level. now remove each baluster and remove the pegs. Put a small dap of glue into each hole (circle and baluster) and tap the peg bag into place. Repeat with all baluster legs until the stand is fully connected. Let the glue set for 30 min.
Tumblr media
YOU’RE DONE!
note: this plant stand is suitable for plants and pots weighing under 25 lbs. again, i recommend four legs for added sturdiness ( i only had three so i went for the tripod look, which works for light plants).

main characters: childhood enemies!? Yuta Nakamoto and Y/N other characters: brother! Lee Taeyong word count: 2.2k words genre: fluff summary: You hated Yuta Nakamoto all your life.  warnings: crotch kicking, Yuta is shirtless in one part, Y/N is in a diet, Y/N is scared of thunder, Yuta teasing Y/N about her chest, cursing inspired by the anime ‘Ouran Highschool Host Club’
Czennies’ Anime Boy Birthday Project - Day 2
Tumblr media
You hated Nakamoto Yuta all your life.
No, scratch that, you loathed him.
It stemmed from when the two of you first met. He, 'accidentally' he claimed, ripped the head of your favorite Barbie doll. While you, intentionally you knew, kicked him in the crotch. It wasn't a big deal. You always see girls do that in TV but your dad had to ground you for doing that which is totally unfair. Yuta still gets to play with your brother, Taeyong, while you're inside the room when it was clearly his fault.
And that started the cat and dog attitude you had towards each other.
It doesn't help that your family is close to theirs. So when your family went to Japan for a vacation, the Nakamoto family welcomed you to their beach house. It was a pretty house, you thought, with an exclusive beach behind.
This will be the best vacation.
"Yuta!" his mom called which made you frown. Oh yeah, the devil is here. "Where is that boy? He should be helping you with your luggage, Y/N." You gave her a smile, dragging your suitcase in hand. Everything is going on smoothly, you don't want to see him just yet. "Yuta!" she called once again.
"Yup?" He asked and you clearly heard the footsteps accompanied by that annoying voice. Your jaw almost fell in surprise. Yuta's hair is damp as if he just came from a swim. His bare skin lightly tanned. "Oh, hi auntie and uncle." He greeted your parents before walking past you. When did he get taller than you? He gave Taeyong a brotherly hug which made you pout.
Your dad laughed. "When did you get so masculine, Yuta?"
"Had to charm the girls in town," Yuta whispered which made you frown once again. A ladies’ man. Why aren’t you surprised?  You felt someone tugged the suitcase in your hand and turned to see Yuta smiling at you. "You're still ugly as ever." he whispered, which made you throw a punch at him. Yuta only laughed. When did his arms become muscular?
"When will the two of you ever change?" Your mom asked, followed by the others laughing.
-----
"Yuta, why don't you tour Y/N and Taeyong in town this afternoon?" his dad asked while they're eating lunch. He nodded then lightly glanced at you who were eating small portions of your food. His attention was disturbed when your dad asked some questions about his college education and his recent hobbies which he answered eloquently.
Taeyong took his dad's car keys to drive to town, Yuta in the passenger seat and you in the backseat. "Y/N," your brother called. "Stop thinking about your ex-boyfriend. This was supposed to be a vacation." You glared at your brother through the rearview mirror.
"Ex-boyfriend?" Yuta asked. "Someone actually had a crush on you?"
You gave him a fake smile before rolling your eyes, crossing an arm against your chest while huffing. "Can we get something to eat? I want some matcha cake and macaroons."
"Are you pregnant?" You only kicked Taeyong's chair in annoyance.
The market in town isn't that crowded even if it's afternoon. Maybe because the weather is too dry to stroll. Taeyong said that he'll just go to the comfort room, leaving the two of you looking for souvenirs. You already bought a lot of stationery yet your brother didn't come back. "Do you think he ditched us?" Yuta asked while you’re paying for the things you bought.
"Probably." You answered with a shrug. "We can get a cab back home, can't we?" The guy nodded before opening the door for you.
You were just enjoying the market, not caring about Yuta. Luckily, your parents had given you money to spend. Maybe you'll buy small gifts for your friends back home. Your attention was on some bracelets when Yuta told you to come with him. Although hesitant, you just went with him.
The pastry shop looks so pretty with its pastel shades. The pictures in the menu look so delectable that you're quickly hungry. "Order a lot, you didn't eat properly earlier," Yuta claimed, looking at the menu. "Are you on a diet or something?"
You glared. "Yeah, yeah. My ex broke up with me saying I'm fat so I'm trying to lose weight."
"Then you're dating the wrong guy. It's your body, he shouldn't care." He turned the menu to look at the cake selections. "Eat lots and be a cute piggy instead." You stepped on his foot which made him glare at you.
When the waitress came, she smiled at Yuta and he flirted back. You rolled your eyes, such a ladies' man. You ordered a chocolate cake and he ordered matcha, claiming that you wanted that in the car. Well, Yuta isn't that bad. But he's annoying.
The clouds turned darker that surprised you. It was alright earlier, why is it so gloomy now? "Do you think it will rain?" Yuta nodded, there's a high possibility. "I hope it isn't a thunderstorm." You whispered.
You walked around one last time, buying things that you might need at home when you bumped into someone familiar. He was Yuta's friend, you remembered, the one who talked to you in the playground when Yuta refused to let you join him and his friends back then. "Y/N," he greeted and you smiled, calling for his name. "Long time no see. You've grown up." It really has been a long time since you saw him. "Are you here for vacation?"
You nodded and made little chats with each other. When he excused himself to leave, you turned to find out that Yuta is gone.
Fuck! Where is he?
When you glanced at your phone, the battery was dead. Another fuck!
The raindrops fell on your skin that made you hiss. Third fuck!
How are you going home now?
------
Of all the people to meet, why does it have to be that guy? Yuta knew that he had a huge crush on you and seeing how you smiled at him, you probably had a crush on that guy as well. He just went inside the store and bought some macaroons that you kept on asking for since earlier.
When he returned to where he last saw you, you're nowhere to be seen. Maybe you went with that stupid guy. He was about to call you when he realized he didn't have your number. You're with that guy, right? He'll bring you home safely.
The raindrops fell. Maybe he'll just stay under a shed and wait until the rain stops. But as the minutes passed, it grew heavier.
The sky was so dark and little rumbles could be heard. A flash of lightning can be seen followed by large raindrops falling on the pavement as thunder came rolling in. A thunderstorm. He might stay here for a long time.
Yuta was tapping his foot along the music in his headphones when his phone rang, indicating a new number. When he took the call, it was Taeyong's voice. "Where are you and Y/N? I'll come…"
"I'm not with Y/N."
"What?" he asked, shouting through the phone. Yuta explained that he left you with a friend but it was his mom who answered on the phone that his friend came and you were not with him. "Yuta, my sister is scared of thunder. She can't move at all when she hears thunder. Please…" Yuta doesn't need to hear the continuation, he knew he had to find you.
He kept on running under the pouring rain, asking people he passed if they saw the girl he kept on describing. He kept on looking inside shops opened to see if you were inside. The sky is getting darker, it's almost nighttime. He needed to find you, quick.
A flash of light came followed by rumbles of thunder that startled him. If he's surprised like this, how would you feel? Maybe you're too scared now. Where could you be? He stopped in front of the town chapel, a puddle of water can be seen by the entrance.
Yuta ran the steps of the chapel, opening the door widely. "Y/N!" he called. "Are you here?"  A bolt of huge lightning illuminated the place, followed by a loud rumble of thunder but he heard the small whimpers coming from the altar steps.
He stood there, watching you under the table. Eyes closed, both hands on your ear, shaking, soaking wet. Another thunder and you jolted in surprise, crying louder while calling for your dad.
He pulled the linen above the table, wrapping it on you which made you look at him. He put the headphone on your ear as you gaze at him with tear-stained eyes. "I'm sorry, Y/N." he whispered before you wrap your arms around him, relieved that someone is here. That he is here. You flinched when the lightning struck, loud thunder echoed through the walls of the small chapel that made you clench tightly on Yuta's shirt. "I'm here now, Y/N. I won't leave you."
----
You woke up with the sound of chirping birds outside, the sunlight hitting your face that made you groan. When you turned to the side, away from the sunlight, you felt something warm. Surprised, you opened one eye and saw Yuta's bare torso lying next to you. "Yah!" you shouted, immediately checking your clothes under the blanket then pulling it up to cover your clothed body.
The guy rubbed his eyes, "What? It's still so fucking early."
"Why are you sleeping in my bed?"
He stared at you dead in the eyes. "This is my room." He stated as a matter of fact and you glance around the unfamiliar room full of L'arc En Ciel and Ultraman posters. "And you were the one who didn't let go of me last night." He claimed while lying on his bed again, groaning.
The happenings that night came to you. When his dad and Taeyong came to pick you up in the chapel, you kept clinging on Yuta under the warm blanket in the backseat of the car. After showering, you cried in his arms in fright. Maybe, you slept like that.
God, it's so embarrassing. Why are you like this? "Nothing happened, right?"
Yuta chuckled before pulling the blanket to cover himself. "I won't ever touch your non-existent breasts." This guy, really. You lightly kicked him off the bed, startled that instead of his thigh, you felt something hard by your foot.
Then he disappeared from the bed.
He stood up from falling on the floor, glaring at you. "Why do you keep kicking me there? Will you be responsible if I can't have a child?" What? "If something happens…" You heard the door open behind you, "Will you marry me?"
A gasp can be heard followed by your mom's voice shouting, "Honey, Yuta already proposed." What? You glanced at the doorway, his mom was there with a wide smile on her face. "Oh my God, you two. We've been waiting for this for so long."
"No, it's not…" But the door closed before you could finish your sentence. You were about to go out the door when Yuta raced you to it. He closed the door, trapping you between his body and the door. "Yuta, our parents will…"
"Let them misunderstand," he whispered that made you look at him. "Be responsible for me. I have the biggest crush on you since we first met."
"You broke my Barbie the first time we met."
"Because you spend more time on that toy than playing with me." he revolted. "You only look at me when I tease you so I kept doing that." He stepped forward, removing the distance between the two of you. " Please take a chance on me, Y/N. I'll hug you during thunderstorms. I'll let you eat all your favorite food. Just please, take a chance on me."
There's nothing wrong with taking a chance with Yuta. Both your families are friends. Your mom seemed so excited at the idea of the two of you together. And his mom already said that they've been waiting for this for so long. He's handsome, has a nice body, has a nice smile, and did you mention that he has such a nice body? You nodded and he flashed his million-dollar smile, hugging you. "Wow, you really have small breasts." You lightly pushed him, kicking him in the crotch.
"You're really unbelievable."
Yuta crouched on the floor, repeatedly punching his lower back. "That's the third time. You'll really be responsible for me." He stood up but you opened the door and ran outside, him chasing after you.
Your parents were both looking as you got out of the house and into the beach sand outside. He hugged you from the back, lightly raising you. "Caught you." Then proceed to throw you in the water.
"They look really cute together." Yuta's mom commented that made the older men nod.
"Nice job, Taeyong." your dad claimed, tapping your brother's shoulder.
The younger of the five chuckled while watching you and Yuta playing tag on the water. "I just hope they won't be too lovey-dovey."

Joy (JJ Maybank X Reader)
You were a strong person. You could take care of yourself and keep your life in check. That was until your fish died. You didnt know why it hurt you so bad or why you felt the way that you did but you figured it was just because you held back your feelings all the time and maybe the fish was the last straw.
JJ picked up on it quickly, noticing how your smile didnt last as long and your outfits were all over the place. He had tried to ask you what was wrong, giving you more hugs and kisses than usual. You wouldnt tell him what was wrong or what had happened which only added to his anxiety.
He thought that maybe he had done something more, that maybe he wasnt good enough for you anymore. He had asked Kiara about it too, figuring that maybe you were going through a girl problem.
“No, ive been trying to figure that out too! Like its not just me, she’s acting fucking strange.”Kiara confirmed. That didnt make him feel any better but he was glad that he wasnt the problem. It wasnt until four in the morning that he got a good idea, shooting up in his bed.
He texted it to himself before going back to sleep, breaking open his old piggy bank once he woke up a few hours later. He knew that you’d be at work by the time he drove himself to the mall, a grin on his face as he walked into the Build A Bear store.
He had an idea in mind, seeing a stuffed golden bunny on display. He saw all the cute clothes for the toys, the Harry Potter robes standing out. He felt ridiculous through the whole process of tap dancing so the rabbit could run fast, kissing the sewn heart and touching it to his toes and head.
The worker had showed him all the sounds and scents he could pick out, a blush on his cheeks as he recorded his own sound. “I love you princess.”He muttered, picking out a birthday cake scent right after. He saw a ton of children and their mothers, feeling a bit stupid.
He knew this would make you happy though, watching as the worker stitched up the rabbit’s back before he moved along to the isles of clothes. He frowned, trying to remember what hogwarts house you were in. He did, however, remember your favorite Harry Potter character and decided to just grab the robes that matched their house.
Then a little toy broom caught his eye and he just couldnt resist, deciding to buy it as well. The worker gave him his box with the rabbit in it, the birth certificate and a coupon. He had been in the store for a good two hours, relieved to finally get out.
He got on his bike, making his way to your house. He saw that your bike was already there, a big grin on his face as he went up and knocked on your door. You opened it quickly, your hair wet and wearing nothing but a long t shirt.
You calmed down once you saw JJ, trying to figure out why he was coming to your house at this time in the middle of the week. “Hi.”He grinned, holding the box behind his back. You stepped pass, letting him inside. He stared at you for a moment, taking the box out from behind his back and pushing it into your arms.
You raised your eyebrows, sitting down in the middle of your kitchen floor. “What is this, J?”You asked, not opening it yet. “Just open it!”He exclaimed, a grin on his face.
You rolled your eyes, opening the top before reaching in and pulling out a soft object. It felt like silk under your fingertips, eyebrows furrowing as you stared down at the bunny in your hands.
Your eyes were watering as you noticed the Harry Potter robes, hugging the stuffed toy and a smile spreading across your face as JJ’s message played from the toy. He bit his lip anxiously, watching as you pulled the birth certificate from the box, raising your eyebrows.
“I named it Joy cause I thought you needed some joy in your life.”He explained himself. You lunged at him, arms tight around his body as you sniffled. He held you tightly, placing kisses on your forehead and shoulder.
 “You okay?”He asked, a small grin on his face. You nodded, taking in a deep breath. “I love you.”You muttered, the stuffed animal pressed against his side as your grip on him tightened. “I love you too, princess.”He whispered.                                                                                                                                                             @nas-marie-loves-u @28cnn @sexytholland  @yuxsh06   @ifilwtmfc  @cherryobx @poguestarkey @n1ghtsh4d3-67  @poguestyleskye @judayyyw  @sunwardsss @meaganjm @sarcasticsagittarius1998 @jj-fic-recs @homophobicclownmoviestan @jj-iz-bae @natalie-kate-98 @negativity4you @nxsmss @ofmaybankheart @broken-jj @joshy-obx  @curroptbunnie @outerbnx-stiles @angelreyesgirl100  @hannahhh-marie @sadnessrehab @purple-vodka-99 @annmariek8 @harryswigss @imagines-07 @pink-meringues @outerbongs  @copper-boom  @httpstarkey @teenwaywardasgardian @drewswannabegirl  @simonsbluee   @jiaraendgame  @khiaraaa-in-spacee  @on-socks-off  @abbiesthings @kindahavefeelingskindaheartless @dmonchld

Abm where they all pitch in to buy Daniel a new guitar for his birthday maybe like the white one he put on his story the other day
This one? hehe. I love this idea
Tumblr media
Wednesday, April 2, 2037
It was probably Lucy’s idea honestly. She was the one who was always dropping by the studio after school and accompanying Daniel to the music store and she saw the way his fingers traced the shape of the white bass guitar with inquisical interest. Everyone knew Daniel could play any instrument he picked up and the bass was no exception, but it was the one thing that he didn’t himself own.
So, twelve-year-old Lucy, with hardly any money but her $12 weekly allowance to her name, came to her sisters with a proposition:
“We gotta buy Daddy a guitar for his birthday.”
It was a good idea at first; the girls always thought that their father deserved nothing less than the whole entire world, until Penelope looked up the one he wanted online.
$1200.00
Clementine laughed honestly; how were the three of them going to afford that? Sure, the two eldest had their part-time jobs but would their bank accounts even hold enough for the cheapest one in the store yet alone the one he wanted?
But Lucy was already on it, grabbing her piggy bank from her dresser and she unplugged the bottom and shook all the coins and bills onto her bed in a heap. She had been saving up for something she had yet to decide on but a birthday gift for her father was a good enough reason to spend it all.
The girls counted up the allowance money to an impressive $200 and change and Lucy beamed with pride. Clementine and Penelope didn’t really have $500 each so they set aside $300 each from their part-time jobs and called up reinforcements for the rest of it.
Lucy took to the phone, the best actress out of the Seavey daughters, and put on her sweetest voice she could, “Hi, Nana…I’m doing okay…Clem and Nell and I had an idea, and we need your help…”
Keri could never say no to her granddaughters – especially when it came to her youngest son as well – and soon, one e-transfer of $400 later, the girls were taking the subway down to the music store to buy the guitar. Clementine, as the eldest, took charge of the payment and the signatures – which the girls thought was incredibly grown up – and they headed home together. The bass stayed in its case tucked under Lucy’s bed for two weeks until April 2nd finally came around. It was not easy for Lucy to keep a secret.
They had planned on waiting until after school and work was done for the day but Lucy was literally about to burst with excitement, barely even letting Daniel get a “good morning” out to his family before she was grabbing his arm and pulling him to the couch,
“We need to give you your present now!”
Clementine and Penelope jumped up from the table and rushed down the hall at that and both Florence and Daniel watched them leave with confused expressions.
“Stay here!” Lucy ordered to her father and held her hand over his eyes. “Close your eyes and don’t open until we say so!”
“Alright.” Daniel chuckled, holding his hands over his eyes for her as she ran off after her sisters.
Florence leaned down to kiss him and he startled slightly at her presence since his eyes were covered.
“What are they up to?” Daniel asked his wife.
“As usual, I have no clue.” Florence answered, sitting herself down on the couch beside him.
“Are your eyes closed, Daddy?” Lucy screamed from down the hall.
“Yeah, Princess. They’re closed.” Daniel laughed.
The girls came scrambling back down the hallway and Florence’s eyes went wide at the sleek thin guitar case in Penelope’s hand. Clementine pressed her finger to her lips in the direction of their mother and Florence peaked an eyebrow at them. What had they done?
Penelope quietly rested the case on top of the coffee table in front of their parents and the girls stood in a line up on the other side, all with grinning excited smiles and their hands held tight behind their backs.
“Okay, open!” Clementine said.
Daniel took his hands from his face and took a second to process what he was looking at; his sweet lineup of girls and the black thin case on the table. He knew the case well from nearly 30 years of being around music equipment and instruments and he looked over at his wife curiously.
“I have no clue.” Florence said defensively.
He looked up at his daughters; each with a similar eager grin, and he carefully leaned forward to unclasp the case and opened the top. He barely got one good look before he was shutting it quickly, “Holy shit.”
The girls giggled proudly, and Florence smacked his leg lightly for his swear word.
Daniel opened the top again, all the way this time, and stared down wide eyed and the seafoam white bass guitar sitting nicely in the grey fabric interior of the case. It was sparkling new and he could smell the wood and the fresh coating on it and he inhaled deeply before reaching out a hesitant hand to touch the strings.
“Do you like it?!” Lucy asked loudly.
“Did you…did you three…did you really…”
“With a little support from Nana but…” Clementine said. “It was our idea.”
“How’d you know that I wanted it?” Daniel breathed, carefully taking the bass from the velvet interior and set it on his lap comfortably.
“I saw you looking at it when we were at the store.” Lucy said. “You looked at it the way you look at Mommy.”
Daniel and Florence both sent their youngest teasing little glares and the girls just laughed.
“Is it okay, Dad?” Penelope asked gently.
“It’s incredible, my little ladies. You are…incredible. Thank you so, so, so much. Get over here.” Daniel carefully passed over the guitar to Florence so he could have both arms free for his daughters to jump in for a group hug. They all shared their ‘happy birthday’s and excited little statements over their sneaky gift over each other and Daniel just beamed, wrapping them up as close as he could, “I love you three so much.”
There was a equal chorus of, “I love you too” from the girls and they moved back from his hug to go bring over breakfast to the living room before it got cold, still all talking over each other excitedly.
Daniel took his present back from his wife and paused to give her a sweet kiss before pulling her close, “We raised some pretty generous little ladies.”
“They’d give their right hand up for you if you asked.” Florence chuckled.
“And I’d do the same. For all four of you.” Daniel whispered.

CONGRATULATIONS!! Could I please request a 💛? Harry Potter celebrating an anniversary? A load of good old fluff that you write so well! Thank you lovely, and congrats again! - @iliveiloveiwrite
A/N: okay, I didn't make Harry very affectionate in it because we all know how this boi deals with attention *awkwardness intensifies*. His moments with Cho and Ginny are enough proof, really. So it's more like the two are best friends who are in love :))
Warning: wholesome, swear words, weird jokes.
Tumblr media
You and Harry met again after the second wizard war
It wasn't as if you both didn't know each other at Hogwarts. You both knew each other through Hermione.
You and Hermione were in the same study group. Actually you two were very similar due to your hunger for knowledge.
You and Harry got along really well.
But you both just didn't feel that pull in Hogwarts.
It was when two of you met at Leaky Cauldron.
Harry had got out relationship with Ginny recently because it wasn't working out mutually
You were dating someone but it really wasn't working out either
The two of you spent the night drinking and talking and you two felt that connection.
He loved how you talked about anything and everything.
And he was awestruck when he heard your laugh
Because um too divine?
And you found his beautiful green eyes hypnotizing
You loved messing with his hair
"You are messing them up, y/n!"
"I don't think they can get any worse, Potter."
Tho obviously you two danced around your feelings till Hermione intruded in and got two of you on a date
Bless that girl
Anyway
After a couple of years of your relationship, it was all going smoothly.
you two were on a date in France during your vacation
And that's when both of you got on your knees and took the rings out
Coincidence of the century
you two got married. It was all lovely. Your bestie was the bride's maid, Ron was the best man.
It was magical
You were wearing this beautiful white satin gown
Okay I got distracted
Anyway
It had been two glorious years since you two got married
You woke Harry up by peppering kisses on his face
Harry woke up laughing, and his laugh is the sweetest song you have ever heard.
"Can you wake me up like this everyday?"
"If we wake up at 11 o'clock everyday, yeah."
He chuckled and pulled you into a kiss
You two had breakfast in the bed.
After you both got ready for the day. Harry dragged you to the car
"Babe, where are we going?"
"Somewhere."
Harry had been raised by muggles and you were raised by your dad who was a wizard
And you knew very less things about muggles
So it was kinda obvious that you two will do a muggle thing
But you didn't have slightest of idea
"Darling, what's a planetarium?"
Harry whipped his head towards you, eyes wide
"How do you know that word?"
You pointed at the board in front of you two
"Oh."
He relaxed
"Babe?"
"Mmh?"
"Why are we going there?"
He just hummed and parked the car.
He opened the door for you and had his hand out for you
such a gentleman
He vaguely answered your questions and led you in planetarium
You were pouting by now
Because
C'MON
YOUR CURIOUS LIL MIND WANTED TO KNOW WHAT THIS PLACE IS
BUT NO
YOUR HUSBAND WON'T TELL YOU THAT
He led you into a line and a weird lady announced that your line can go in
He leaned into ear and whispered
"You remember you wanted to take that astronomy class but you couldn't because you had some other class to attend to at that time?"
"Yeah?"
"This is the place where they will tell you about the stars and the sky."
You grinned and kissed him in the mid step
People behind you two groaned because you guys were delaying everything
But you two didn't give a fuck
Harry watched as you grinned at the "sky" which was just a huge ass screen
He loved seeing you gasp in surprise at a few sky lore myths
He kinda got sad when Sirius was mentioned
But you held his hand and made sure he was okay
Anyway
After it, you two went to a cafe
He listened to your every word as you gushed over how WONDERFUL everything was
You thanked him because he is the sweetest human ever
And he just smiled and said
"No need to thank me, my love. Your happiness is everything to me."
Then he got a lil awkward
"That was a lil too cliche even for us."
Cue on you two laughing
Anyhow
When you two returned to your home
You gave him a gold watch
Because this boy loves gold
"Yer a niffler, Harry"
"Very funny, y/n."
Harry gifted you a purse that you once saw in store but didn't buy it because it wasn't in your favourite colour
but this one was
and your favourite candles
you thanked him with a kiss
After the dinner when you two were laying in bed
You took his hand and kept it on your stomach
"I know we haven't discussed this, but it sort of just happened."
"What are you talking about, y/n?"
"I am pregnant."
His eyes were wide
Jaw dropped
He stared at you for a second
You were shitless scared
What if he doesn't want a baby?
What if he leaves me?
What if he hates babies?
Or worse, what if he doesn't want a baby with me?
You were panicking
And then he grinned and kissed you
Shushing all your thoughts and shooing them away
He pulled apart and grinned
He had a tiny lil tear in his eye
"I'm gonna be a father?"
He squealed
He legit squealed
You nodded with tears in your eyes
He dropped kisses on your faces and your stomach
He said he loved two of you so much
And there came James Sirius Potter
You two had two more kids
Your second son was named after your brother whom you lost in the war and Remus
Because
Um
Yeah
We don't stan manipulative people and abusive teachers ✌🏼
You guys are the best couple ever
Um yeah
That's it
Byeeeeee

Issac x Young McCall!Reader
Requested by @alwaysadreamingoptimist
You peaked out of your bedroom door as something huge collided with the wall opposite. When you opened it enough you saw Scott trying to wake up Isaac who seemed to be freaking out. You knew he had bad nightmares. Sometimes the shouting and screaming would wake you up.
“Isaac. Look I’m putting my foot down, I might not be able to take a werewolf to a doctor but I can take you to Deaton’s.” Melissa said from down the hall. He apologised and she shook her head. “We’re here to help you Isaac. Let’s see if we can do anything, for now at least.” She smiled as Scott helped him up.
“I’ll call Stiles to babysit (Y/N).” Scott said when he realised you’d been watching.
“Already done and he’s on his way.” Melissa said quickly.
You didn’t know what Isaac’s nightmares were about, Scott said when you were older he’d tell you. It wasn’t like you didn’t know about the supernatural and you didn’t know what else could scare him. Looking over at your bed you spotted your old teddy bear. You’d had it for years and Melissa used to tell you that he chased nightmares away. With a decisive huff you dragged the desk chai from Scott’s room over to your bedroom shelves and reached over your piggy bank.
“(Y/N)?” Stiles called as he jogged up the stairs. He frowned when he saw you carefully counting out money into a little jam jar. “What are you doing?”
“I wanna go buy Isaac a bear.” You said and held up the family worn out bear.
“Why? I thought you were saving up for something?” Stiles asked as he took your bear and crouched down next to you.
“Because he keeps away the nightmares. Isaac needs one but I can’t give him mine… can we go to the store please.” You begged and Stiles groaned.
“Sure. Come on.” He said as he headed to the door. He paused as you put the bear back and safely stowed your jar of money in your backpack.
The car trip took longer than Stiles thought it would. There was a lot of traffic and seeing that school was still out most people were heading out of town to the nearby mall as well.
“You know I’m sure Isaac will be fine.” Stiles said as he drove, he glanced at you for a second. You had a determined frown on your face as you clutched your backpack.
“I know. I’ll find the right bear and he’ll be better.” You said quietly.
“Well… the bear might help a lot, but it won't fix everything. Isaac saw some very scary things and, well, it'll make him feel better.” Stiles winced. He wasn’t sure how to explain anything to you. Scott had a knack for it. Even Derek would stoop down and talk softly, answering questions that you had about werewolves, you’d mentioned you liked how seriously Derek seemed to think about the answers. Stiles could never figure how to talk about the supernatural with you. It didn’t seem long ago that his dad had pulled him and Scott out of school, they got half a day off to meet you the day after you were born.
“It won't make him better.” You said, sounding bitter. You were quiet for a moment and Stiles decided he’d be more than happy to turn around and treat you to a milkshake at the diner he’d just passed, if you change your mind. “But It’ll make him feel better? Mom says you’re getting better if you know you feel better.”
“You know what, yeah, Tell you what.” Stiles smiled at what you’d said and rummaged in the glove box. He fumbled for his wallet and pulled out a note which he’d handed to you. “You think that’ll be enough for a real special bear.”
Your eyes were wide as you breathed in dramatically. “Yes!” You said in awe at the twenty in your hand. He chuckled and nodded as he pulled into the mall car park.
****************
“We’re home!” You said excitedly. Melissa was dressed for work as she came into the hall to greet you.
“Did you have a nice time with Stiles?” She asked.
“Yeah, it was great!” You yelled as you hugged her and rushed off with your bag in hand.
“She’s excited.” Stiles explained and she raised an eyebrow.
“She had one small milkshake with her lunch. She’s excited to give her gift to Isaac.” Stiles explained. Melissa smiled and headed up stairs as Stiles waved to Scott and headed over to catch up with him.
“Isaac?” You called. Isaac was sat in his room reading, he looked tired but he smiled when you rushed in and dumped your bag on the bed. “I got you something special!”
“Oh?” He asked and came over to have a look. You unzip your bag to reveal a teddy bear. Carefully you pulled it out and handed it to Isaac.
“It’s the same as mine! Well almost, we had to look all over for it but it’s special because he protects you from bad dreams. Like mine.” You smiled up at Isaac who was looking at the bear. He wasn’t smiling and you frowned, you hadn’t meant to upset him.
“(Y/N), come on.” Melissa said gently. She coaxed you over as Isaac stared at the bear before setting it on his pillow. She smiled when he turned around and grinned.
“Thank’s (Y/N). I’m sure he’ll do a really good job.” Isaac said gratefully.

here is my headcanon for how marauders era girls spent their valentines day in their 6th year!
they started the day of with waking up at 04.00 am each of them had planned something to do during the day and Lily and Alice weren't dating anyone (yet), so they were really excited for the idea of spending the day together. Marlene and Dorcas were dating eachother and had been since the begining of their 3rd year at hogwarts but they were perfectly fine with spending their valentines day with Lily and Alice. They were happy to have a change this year.
Dorcas had planned the first activity they woke up, got ready and headed out their dorm quietly. They quickly got into Dorcas's car and drove to a beautiful flower field next to a old train track. Dorcas brought out some food a big cloth and layed it down
Tumblr media
(imagine it something like this but with more flowers <3)
they all sat down and unpacked their food for a unforgettable picnic, they ate their breakfast peacefully while listening to their favorite playlist that they had made together with all the songs that reminded them of how much they should cherish their teen years
♪♪𝐹𝑢𝑛𝑛𝑦 ℎ𝑜𝑤 𝑖𝑡 𝑠𝑒𝑒𝑚𝑠 𝑙𝑖𝑘𝑒 𝑦𝑒𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑑𝑎𝑦

-Cigarette Daydreams by cage the elephant
they all listened to the song Marlene resting her head on Dorcas's shoulder while everyone cuddling
after finishing up with their picnic they get back into the car blasting music, Lily drooping from the window
they arive to their next location again picked by Dorcas a beautiful lakeside. They were the only people there so they change into their bathing suits and jump into the water splashing and throwing eachother, piggy back riding and trying to push eacother of as they do so.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After splashing eachother for hours they get out and lay down at the fallen tree trunks while blasting the song tounge tied.
Not so long later Marlene drags everyone out and they all dance while singing the lyric
"𝑻𝑨𝑲𝑬 𝑴𝑬 𝑻𝑶 𝒀𝑶𝑼𝑹 𝑩𝑬𝑺𝑻 𝑭𝑹𝑰𝑬𝑵𝑫'𝑺 𝑯𝑶𝑼𝑺𝑬
𝑰 𝑳𝑶𝑽𝑬𝑫 𝒀𝑶𝑼 𝑻𝑯𝑬𝑵 𝑨𝑵𝑫 𝑰 𝑳𝑶𝑽𝑬 𝒀𝑶𝑼 𝑵𝑶𝑾
𝑫𝑶𝑵'𝑻 𝑮𝑬𝑻 𝑴𝑬 𝑻𝑶𝑼𝑵𝑮𝑬 𝑻𝑰𝑬𝑫
𝑫𝑶𝑵'𝑻 𝑾𝑨𝑽𝑬 𝑵𝑶 𝑮𝑶𝑶𝑫𝑩𝒀𝑬"
As the song finished the four girls got up and made their way to the car for their next destination
as they were pretty tired they all slept in the car well.. except Dorcas, even tho she said she was fine Lily did make her change positions half way the trip so she could also get some rest
Their next destination was picked by alice, she had suggested to go to the candy factory down town after a hour of driving they made it there it was a big, very big factory with a every single type of candy you could imagine Marlene and Dorcas sprinted their way into the candy jewlery making area and started making evrery single type of candy they saw
Eventually they sad down after hours of runing around and grabbing candy (including being screamed at by five diffrent employes) and started making bracelets while Lily and Alice walked around admiring every single candy piece they saw.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After spending a good 2 hours they bought around 10 bags of candy and headed out the store recieving many bad looks from the employes there.
It was time for the second place Alice had picked she only told Lily cause she was the one driving and they had become super close lately she would rant to Lily about her boy troubles and not so suprisingly Lily was a very good listener.
25 minutes later they arrived standing right in front of the animal shelter that they were about to enter
Alice had talked to the owners and decided to volunteer together to the shelter. They all immedietly ran inside and were greeted my hundereds of dogs, cats you name it. They all started petting and feeding every single one of them and chatted with the owners a little learning about each animals past life. Some of them were abondened cause the owners didnt like them, others were abused by previos owners but now they were here, they were safe. They all decided after graduating they would buy their house that they will live together with and come adopt animals here. With that they exsited the shelter and made their way to the next location.
By this time they started getting hungry even tho they had eaten many many candys this was perfect on Lily's part cause her plan was to take the girls to a cafe.
Yes it sounded lame but this cafe was diffrent it was a flower shop and a place where people could go write some poetry and display them on the walls. She went there a lot when she wanted to clear her mind from things and it usually helped. After driving for a good 45 minutes they made it there, they got changed into some clean clothes and went in.
As they entered the smell of fresh baker bread and pastry filled their nose, the walls were filled with old looking papers with diffrent handwriting notes. They quickly sat down ordered some food that came with a piece of old looking sailor paper which they knew was for the poetry
They all ate their food while writing in silence, it was a comfortable silence with the sound of classical music filling their ear. Lily finished hers she got up and hang hers up next to many other works the rest of them did the same and they walked over to the flower section, they were astonished by the selection of diffrent flowers as they looked around They each got bouqets with their favorite flowers paid for them and left the store.
Lily's next stop was about a hour away if they walked so they decided to park the car and walk admiring the beautiful architecture around them they chatted and the hour didnt even seem that long since they didnt even realise they were at the next stop.
Tumblr media
They were at a art museum, it was such a Lily place to go to but they didnt mind as they entered and tried not to get kicked out for being loud Lily gave them lectures on all the artwork and statues around them, Lily loved learning about all there things, it made her feel something and everytime she researched about these for hours flipping through pages of old books in a old library for hours made her feel at home. She talked and gave lectures about the history behind every piece and the girls couldn't help but just become so proud of her. They spent hours and hours there and before leaving they look a couple pictures of eachother.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was getting later and by the time they got to the car it was already 5pm now marlenes request was perfect for the time they first drove back to their school to get to their dorms they each took a quick shower and changed into some aestehtic but comfortable clothes. Marlene's first request was pretty basic she had rented four bikes and suprised the girls. They quickly went down the streets and headed to Marlene's bigger plan but had a lot of fun while teasing eachother trying to get eachother to fall while trying not to get run over cars,
Tumblr media
During the way Lily had opened her favorite playlist and was blasting some songs
𝑻𝒐𝒏𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕, 𝒘𝒆 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒈
𝑺𝒐 𝒍𝒆𝒕𝒔 𝒔𝒆𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒍𝒅 𝒐𝒏 𝒇𝒊𝒓𝒆
𝑾𝒆 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒃𝒖𝒓𝒏 𝒃𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒖𝒏...........
The sun was about to set at this point and they had arrived at the last location. There was a huge carnaval standing right in front of them. They quickly dropped their bikes of at the place Marlene had bought them and headed to the carnaval. They were all hungry at this point because they hadn't eaten anything since their lunch at the poetry cafe so they ate hot dogs and bought candy apples, cotton candy alongside eating the food they had gotten from the candy factory.
They spent hours going in diffrent rides marlene and Dorcas going on all the couples rides whole Lily and Alice played the games that are just impossible to beat but managed to get some teddy bears for eachother. They went on many rollercoasters even tho Lily and Alice weren't really willing to but did it for Marlene and Dorcas.
After going on all of the fun rides like spinning teacups, the death drop and one of their favorites the Ferris wheel since the view was insanely beautiful they decided to head back to their dorm it was 1.00 am at this point but they didnt care they ran like maniacs in the middle of the road while singing at the top of their lungs cause they know they aren't going to be teenagers forever and they might not even live through another year
Tumblr media
That was one hell of a day.

One Piece x Reader {Join My Club} Ch 12
(Y/n)'s Pov
"Law you don't have any cold medicine and I checked twice. I can run over to the store to pick up a bottle if you want" As the man shifted around under the covers, I caught a glimpse of his hand but his back was turned away from me. "Do whatever you'd like (Y/n)-ya. Yawn. If you need cash look in that piggy bank over there" My eyes followed where his finger was pointing though after they found the pig they quickly drifted back to Law. "Okay you get some sleep and I'll bring you back some medicine. What kind should I buy?"
"You can decide I don't care as long as it does the job" That really didn't make things clear but maybe I could just get away with buying something cheap. "Alright Law I'll try to be quick" Turing away from the man I started towards his little piggy bank to collect some funds but something Law said caused me to start blushing. "Take my key (Y/n)-ya you'll need it to get back inside"
I didn't turn around in fear he would see my rosy cheeks although I did respond while counting out a few bills. "That's probably a good idea. Where do you keep it?" As I gathered up enough money to cover the cost of the medicine, I placed it in a nice neat pile before facing the man. Thankfully he was still hiding out underneath the covers. "It's in that box by the front door"
"You know Law it's not very smart to keep such a valuable item at the entrance to your apartment" This time Law has shifted just enough for me to see his eyes over the blankets but my heart ached slightly since he looked worse than before. "No one would dare break into my apartment (Y/n)-ya and even if they did, they'd quickly regret it. 'Cough' 'Cough' You should get going but if you need anything call" I knew for sure my phone wasn't in my pocket but I also knew that thing wasn't even charged. "I'm pretty sure my phone's dead Law"
"Of course, it is... Take Penguin-ya with you" I might have been small but it wasn't like I couldn't handle myself in a situation. However, it might be good to have someone with me who knew their way back to the apartment. "Doesn't he have class?" I knew Law was sick so he wouldn't need to go and I was taking care of him so I'd skip classes today but the other man didn't have a legitimate excuse that would keep him home. "He does but whenever I don't go, he stays home as well"
"So, he's playing hooky? That's interesting... Alright, I'm leaving now Law so stop detracting me" Finally slipping into my shoes I unlocked the door but couldn't even get it opened since Law had decided to speak up. "Don't forget the money (Y/n)-ya" I was a little embarrassed about forgetting such an important thing though I wasn't about to let Law get the win with this one. "I didn't forget!" Shoving the bills into my pocket I heard back over to the door but for whatever reason, that man decided he was going to have the last words. "Keep telling yourself that (Y/n)-ya"
'Slam'
"Easy on the boss's door (Y/n) you're going to break it if you're not careful. Where are you heading to and where's the boss?" Penguin looked like he was ready to head to class but I found that strange since Law had just told me he was skipping class today. "Law's sick... I thought he told you. Oh, and he also said that I have to bring you with me to the store" Based on the books in Penguin's hands I figured he was going to school but that would contradict what Law had told me. "Hm? That's strange he's never sick or at least not sick enough to miss a day of school. Sure, I'll go to the store with you (Y/n) just let me put my books back inside"
Since he was already in front of his door, I waited a few seconds but when he returned to my side, I asked him a question. "Are you really skipping class just because Law's not going to be there?" Surprising Penguin didn't seem bothered that I called him out since after I had finished, he had just struggled with his shoulders before started towards where the elevator was. "He hardly misses class (Y/n) unless it's due to work so it's better if I stay home just encase, he needs anything... Law's always been there for me and I also want to be there for him"
"That's really sweet Penguin. I'm sure Law appreciates it" The way his face light up at the compliment was cute and as he spoke, I couldn't help but giggle. "Yeah, he does as long as no one messes up his care. Where are we going by the way? I know you mentioned going to the store but you left out the why" Oh that's right I needed to hurry up before my panda bear got any worse or decided to leave the apartment. "Law doesn't have any cold medicine so I'm picking up a bottle"
"Ah, so you're playing the role of his nurse then? That's adorable (Y/n)" As I thought over Penguin's claim it somehow sounded true but then again, I was just acting like a caring friend, not a nurse. "I wouldn't necessarily call myself his nurse but you're free to think whatever you'd like" When we arrived at the elevator Penguin's finger hovered over the down arrow but soon enough, he pressed down as a light red hue emitted from it. "Every doctor needs a nurse by his side (Y/n)~ Hehhehee. Do me a favor and continue making him happy. Law doesn't have a lot of people around him but when it comes to you, he acts different"
Sure, Penguin had talked about Law the whole night but now something seemed off. It wasn't anything bad however I just couldn't place the look Penguin had in his eyes. "Different? How so?" By the time the elevator doors opened, I still didn't have an answer although as the man stepped forward, he flashed me a grin before giving me some cryptic reply. "Not everyone has been kissed by death (Y/n)-chan... Are you coming or not?" His hand was keeping the elevator door from closing so before I kept him waiting too long, I stepped forward. "What kind of saying is that Penguin and it better not mean anything weird?"
"Sorry (Y/n) but that's something you need to figure out on your own" Maybe Law could help me figure out what this man meant. Although I really didn't want to wait since my curiosity was eating away at me. "It would be better if you ju-" As someone from down the hall started to yell, I looked back only to lock eyes with the girls Law was talking with earlier. "Hold the elevator!" I couldn't for the life of me remember their names but Penguin seemed to know at least one of them. "Oh, good morning Zoey! I didn't think you were up this early" Looking back at the man I could see he was slightly blushing at Zoey however she only turned away as her friend spoke. "Excuse me? Good morning jackass don't pretend you never saw me"
"Relax Cinder... Where are you two heading?" It was silent for a few seconds as the ground floor button was hit but soon Penguin started to answer Zoey. "(Y/n) is picking up some medicine for Law and I'm going with her. Where are you two off to?" As soon as Cinder started to glare at Penguin, I knew she wasn't in the best moods but only backed into the corner of the elevator for my own safety. "It's none of your damn business!" If I wasn't mistaken, I could have sworn there were tears in her eyes but this wasn't my life so I kept quiet. "We're going to the drug store as well but you know Penguin there's this lovely bakery just down the street. Why don't we go pick up some muffins and those two can head to the store?"
"Zoey you can't just abandon me in my time of need" Hmm, that didn't sound good but again I didn't want to interfere in her life. Sure, I had bothered Law, Drake, and Kidd but they were different. "I'll meet you there later but for now (Y/n) here will go with you. Think you can handle this bitch for me (Y/n)?" Zoey was definitely a bold friend, but somehow Cinder wasn't that upset by the word choice. "Who are you calling a bitch?" When a hand was placed on my shoulder, I realized we had reached the ground floor and quickly stepped off. The two girls were still messing around although neither were upset. "You. Now shut up Cinder before I smack you"
"I'd like to see you try... (Y/n) follow me I know a shortcut to the shop"
"Okay"
~~~~~~~~~~
20 Minutes Later...
We had gotten to the shop quite quickly but once we arrived Cinder and I had gone our separate ways. However, since I had picked out a bottle of medicine, I wanted to ask the girl about whether or not it was a good brand. "Do you think this cold medicine will do the job Cinder?... Are you alright Cinder?" When I had spoken up, I could see her jump but she never turned away from the object that was holding her attention. "He's going to hate me if it's true" When Cinder turned to face me, I could see the tears were falling but based on the items in her line of sight I could only guess as to why she was behaving like this. "You'll never know until you take the test Cinder and how can you be so sure he'll hate you?"
"... I don't know (Y/n) but there's no way I can take that up to the cash" That was understandable so as I picked up the cheapest test kit, I turned back to my shopping buddy before I offered her a smile. "I'll do it for you. Do you have any cash on you? I only have enough for this cold medicine" There was doubt within her eyes though I didn't let my smile fade since that would only cause her more uneasiness. "Are you sure about this (Y/n)?" Nodding my head, I started towards the front of the store but stopped for a quick second to ask her about payment. "Yup. Now do you have cash or not?"
"Yeah, here you go (Y/n)... Thanks for doing this it means a lot" When she slipped me a few bills I made my over way to one of the free lanes and placed my two items down. I knew the lady behind the cash was staring at the items however I didn't care. All I wanted was to get back to Law as soon as possible. "You know these tests aren't for children. Did you perhaps pick it up by mistake?" The cashier's fingers were tapping against the pink box while she waited for an answer from me. "Nope, it wasn't a mistake" Without another word the box was scanned but based on that look on her face I knew she was judging the purchase. "Your total is for today is 5600 Beri. Will that be cash or credit?"
"Cash please"
~~~~~~~~~~~
An Hour Later...
"Thanks for staying with me (Y/n). With Zoey gone God knows where I really didn't want to do this alone" From what I gathered about Cinder she was one of the popular girls in the school but silly me hadn't even heard of her before. I must have been living under a rock for far too long although in the little time we're spent together I could tell she was a good person. "Has it been three minutes yet?" We never bothered setting a timer but as I stared up at the countertop, I narrowed at the stick barely hanging off the edge.
"Probably... Do you mind checking it for me?" Since Cinder didn't look like she even wanted to get off of the bathroom floor right now I stood up to check the results. "I can do that" Standing over the stick I looked over the visual pink lines before briefly scanning the box to see what the results meant. "So, is my life officially over?" Lying to the girl wouldn't do any good and in time she'd start showing anyway. "Don't think of it as ending Cinder just think of it as a new beginning... Are you going to tell him?"
"He'll be here to pick me up anytime now but I'm afraid (Y/n). What happens if he leaves me?" Clearly, this girl was in love with whoever this man was although it was her decision to tell him and I couldn't push her into doing it. However, I could tell her my opinion of guys who abandon their pregnant partners. "Then he's a terrible person who has no business being around you anyway. Do you want me to walk you down?" I had some free time so didn't mind taking her downstairs but Cinder only shook her head as she replied. "No, I'd rather him come up here first. Hawkins always tells me to not keep anything in since it would only cause problems later... I'll see you around (Y/n)"
"Good luck Cinder and remember be careful on your way out Law should still be asleep out there"
"Ah yes I wouldn't want to awaken the panda bear. You know he's a lot happier with you around (Y/n). I've never seen him let a single person hug him before besides Lu-chan but for you he accepted it and I could tell he wanted to return your gesture. However, if you want him you shouldn't wait. Law's a popular guy and half the girls in the school want a piece of him so I'd scoop him up before someone else does. See ya later (Y/n)" As Cinder's hand reached for the doorknob, I could see she was hesitant. "Yeah, take care Cinder and if things go wrong, you're more than welcome to come here for the day"
'Ding'
"Is that him?" Based on the fear within her eyes, I already had my answer but I wanted to hear it from her own mouth before making any assumptions. "Yeah, he's in the parking lot" She was tapping her fingers against the screen of her phone although I wanted to know the identity of this guy. She hadn't mentioned his name during our talk but I needed a name just encase he broke Cinder's heart. "Not to be intrusive but who exactly are you dating?"
"Oh, I'm dating Charlotte Kato"

Newsies Adopting Unique Animals AU!
For the sake of this AU, most of the more exotic pets are adopted after being in abusive homes/black markets and it was after they were rehabilitated.
The only characters I explicitly recognize as a couple are Spot and Race. Any others could be taken as romantic or platonic, you can decide!
Strap in folks, this is going to get interesting:
Jack: Bearded Dragon/Pogona. His name is Oliver. It was literally an impulse decision. Jack was painting a mural at a new pet store in town and he was just finishing as they were moving in some animals since they were about to open. Jack's jaw dropped when he saw a "spiky lizard with a big head", as he later told everyone else, and he couldn't leave without taking one home. So after careful negotiation and buying any and all supplies he'd need, he brought little Oliver home with him. It took some getting used to and many articles on google, but eventually Jack found his new best friend. He'll paint and draw pictures of Oliver and he even created the desert backdrop in Oliver's tank. And sense Jack mostly works from home as an artist, he can always keep an eye on Oliver. At the end of the day, Jack will sit on the floor and entertain Oliver. Over all, they both have a new friend in each other.
Davey: Hyacinth Macaw. His name is Apollo. Sort of an impulse decision, but Davey kind of thought it through. He read up on hyacinth macaws and he knows there are only 2,500-5,000 left in the wild. After a group was busted for illegally trading animals, Davey erratically offered to rehabilitate some one of the macaws said to have been in the traders homes. You can imagine how dumb he felt when the SPCA showed up at his house with everything he needed to get started. Still, he owned up to it and took in the macaw who he affectionately named Apollo. He was angry and upset when he realized Apollo's wings were clipped and that he couldn't fly, meaning Apollo would likely be adopted out to a home. It was rough for months, Apollo didn't trust Davey until the second month and hardly trusted anyone else besides Davey's sister, Sarah. Davey slowly earned Apollo's trust and trained him to the point where Apollo finally "spoke" to Davey about five months later. After that, they were inseparable. Apollo would nuzzle Davey with his head and Davey would stroke him while he read a book or worked on papers. Eventually Davey adopted Apollo and they both found a safe ace with each other
Crutchie: Bush Baby/Galago. Her name is Pip. Another animal rescued from the illegal traders. Crutchie also works from home and after hearing about the requirements of taking care of a bush baby, he volunteered. It was somewhat difficult and he had to ask Jack for help in the first two months because if his wheel chair, but he eventually got the bush baby, who he named Pip, to warm up to him. She would watch him curiously, but she never got too close. Over time, Crutchie earned her trust by offering little treats and playing little games with her. It got to the point where she would jump back and forth between his desk, his wheel chair, and his bookshelf. She would either cling to his shoulder and take a nap or sleep in a small cushion Crutchie keeps on his desk for her. No matter how difficult she can be and how energetic she is, Crutchie wouldn't change a thing.
Katherine: Baby Fennec Fox. His name is Archie. Sort of a random decision. She was watching a documentary on Africa on Animal Planet and for days after she couldn't get the Fennec Foxes out of her head. It got to the point where she did so much research before contacting the local SPCA and asking if they had any fennec Foxes in need of a home. She was excited to hear they surprisingly had one, but that he was just a baby and had been separated from his mom. Katherine knew she'd have to out in a lot of time, but she runs her own business so she could be home enough to take car of the fox that she, upon seeing him, named him Archie. He was finicky, no pun intended, but he was curious. Katherine noticed how he'd eat and sleep often like a cat, but that he could be energetic and lovey like a dog. She'd play with him and give him affection when he wanted it. They bonded and in the end Katherine had someone to curl up on her lap or right next to her while watching TV or reading a book.
Sarah: Serval. Her name is Carmen. Yet another poor animal that suffered going through life with the trader. It was her slight, good hearted sibling rivalry with Davey that made her do it. She offered to take care of a serval under the impression that it was just like any other cat. She wasn't completely wrong. The serval, which she named Carmen, was nervous and didn't like Sarah much at first. She'd run away and hide in a cage that Sarah always leaves open or under any object she could. It took months before Sarah could sit in front of Carmen and pet her. She slowly built up Carmen's trust and by the time she was considered rehabilitated and it was established that she had been in captivity too long to survive in the wild, Sarah adopted her. Carmen did act like lost cats, she'd sleep for an unreasonably long time and rub against Sarah's leg when she was hungry or just lovey, but she could also be energetic and chaotic. Sarah loved it though, it made her home feel alive.
Race: Baby skunk, well, skunks. Their names are Sugar, Spice, and Kyle because we all know Race would do something like that. Not exactly a happy story. Race was driving home one night and he didn't even notice something run under his car before he felt the tell tale thumps. As soon as he got our of his car, he gagged and tears welled up. The putrid smell of skunk met his nose and he turned on the flashlight on his phone. He gagged at the site, but his heart broke when he saw three black and white balls of fluff on the side of the road. He knew he couldn't leave them, they were so small and he was so guilty. So, he braved the skunk smell and sacrificed the inside of his car to bring the babies home with him. To say Spot was confused would be an understatement. Seeing and smelling his boyfriend walk inside with three baby skunks in hand isn't exactly common. He was on the verge of angry until he heard Race's story and saw the sadness in his face. So, despite his anger, Spot lets Race keep the skunks. Race gets everything he needs and does everything necessary. He takes the babies outside to run in the back yard and he loves them so much. His favorite game to play is "Which friend will we scare this week". He's had one too many shoes thrown at him for that game. Over all, he loves Sugar, Spice, and Kyle. Especially Kyle.
Spot: Hedgehog. Her name is Holly. Spot adopted Holly long before Race got his skunks. He adopted her from the pet store where Jack adopted Oliver. Holly is quiet for the most part and after nearly a year together, she finally let Spot rub her belly. He should her beyond reason. He bought her a pink blanket with hedgehogs printed on it and he even bought a floaty meant to hold drinks just so Holly could sit in it in the bath tub. Race used to always say Spot spoiled Holly too much, but Spot didn't care. Holly was his buddy and he wouldn't ever change that.
Elmer: Baby pot belly pig. Her name is Calli. Elmer doesn't even remember how he got Calli. Everyone tells him he won a vet with some kid who raises pot belly pigs and the kid gave it to Elmer on his birthday. Elmer isn't complaining, though. He loves his adorable black, white, and pink speckled piggie. She can be extremely greedy with food, but Elmer adores her nudging his leg or occasionally oinking at him. She's just a big cuddle bug in a small body and Elmer's thankful for whatever bet he made.
Albert: Baby otter. Her name is Poppy. Her story is similar to Sugar, Spice, and Kyle's. Albert was driving home when he watched a vehicle hit an otter. He stopped, knowing it's common courtesy to move the animal off the road despite how sad or frankly gross it is. He's thankful he did though, because he found a baby otter hiding in the grass. No matter how hard he tried to turn away, he couldn't. He eventually coaxed the baby closer and picked her up, giving her the name Poppy. He absolutely loves her. After taking her to the vet and getting all his paperwork done, Albert took her home and raised her. He helped her swim in his bathtub and eventually a small pond he installed in his backyard. He plays with her and he spoils her with warm blankets and even her own teddy bear which Albert named Fluffy. They're practically inseparable and Albert wouldn't trade anything for Poppy. She's his little girl and she's like a part of him.
Some of this might be inaccurate and might even be illegal in some places, but it's cute and that's what matters😂
If you want to see any other characters, just send me and ask! Don't be afraid, I promise I won't be upset about questions or suggestions.

Please don't take him just because you can
Tumblr media
“Can you believe we’re considered essential workers, Finn? Like, where’s my hazard pay for explaining that yes, we’re out of yeast, shallots and all the frozen French-cut green beans? Not nutritional yeast, regular old yeast in packets,” Rey groused, lifting probably the nine millionth can of mediocre tuna-in-water onto the shelf. At least restocking, they could chat. When they were both at check-out, they might as well be a thousand miles apart.
“I’m glad we’re getting a paycheck,” Finn said. “Though I hear your righteous rage at the capitalist system that exploits and demeans us while expecting us to get our butts in here by 5 am so we can make sure the seniors have plenty of oatmeal and dried apricots to buy.”
“I dunno. This is so weird. Maybe we’re the lucky ones. We have something to do that makes a difference,” Rey said. Rose was going bananas at home with her dissertation defense indefinitely postpone, though JSTOR giving free access had made her squeal like Miss Piggy’s long-long sister. Assuming Piggy wouldn’t have taken that sister out.
“It is what it is,” Finn said, almost growling, mimicking Poe mimicking Luke doing his Zen-master thing. It somehow worked so Rey laughed. Just then, as if that tiny bit of levity had conjured him up to squash it more brutally than any potato bug had ever been squashed, Ben appeared at the end of the aisle, positively looming in his manager’s pique polo, his dark hair flopping across his face most ominously. Finn had once categorized Ben’s hair-flops and this was one of the worst in terms of ominous-ness. The pandemic’s silver lining was that he literally couldn’t afford to fire either of them. It wasn’t much.
“Rey, a word,” Ben said curtly. It was his best adverb.
“Now?” She held a can of tuna in each hand like she was Lady Justice balancing the scales.
“Now,” he said, without any modification. She threw Finn a look that said “Come find my body if I don’t return.” He nodded, very slightly. He wouldn’t let her down.
“So…” Rey said, once they were in the dead-empty prepared food area, not quite six feet apart. He better not kill her, Ben Solo, store manager of Empire Foods, which was a preposterous and self-aggrandizing name even when they had plenty of frozen French-cut beans and shallots. And yeast, nutritional or otherwise. He better not kill her except with his gorgeous dark eyes and those shoulders that made a forest green polo look like Galahad’s armor and those hands, so elegant it was like a graphic designer had drawn them to get an internship in Milan.
“So, you were really good to come in early. I saw the way you helped the older shoppers,” Ben said. She’d left out his voice in the list of things that might kill her, a colossal mistake, so one she was familiar with making.
“They’re scared. I get it,” Rey said. “It doesn’t cost anything to be kind.”
“I can’t get the board to give you guys extra money,” he said. Was it bitterly? Did he sound bitter about being told no? “I tried, I told them—”
“They didn’t listen, huh? Go figure, a bunch of execs not caring about the little guy,” Rey said. “Gal. Whatever.” Not bitterly, because who had time for that?
“Here,” Ben said, tossing something at her without any fucking warning at all. Fortunately, she had decent reflexes and also a lot of motivation not to look like an idiot in front of him.
“What?”
“It’s the last hand sanitizer in the store. The good kind, with aloe,” he said, dropping his insanely long lashes as he spoke. It was a pretty big bottle too, so it was good she’d caught it and not gotten clocked.
“You didn’t have to do this. Ben,” Rey said. Damn, she sounded awkward. She looked at the bottle in her hand; it was pretty big, eight ounces at least. And brand-name, not generic.
“You deserve more. I’m sorry. I’ll keep trying but at least, maybe this’ll help a little,” Ben said.
“I use soap and water at home, but it’s hard here,” she said. It wasn’t going to pay the rent, but who knew—it might save her life. Ben was looking at her like that was something that might actually be important to him.
“What do you sing?” he said, as if that were apropos of anything. Oh! He meant washing her hands.
“You don’t think I sing “Happy birthday?’” she asked.
“You’re not that basic.” She laughed and he smiled. God, what a smile he had!
“Jolene. Dolly Parton. Classic,” she said.
“I'm begging of you please don't take my man/ Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene/ Please don't take him just because you can…” Ben sang in a totally unfair baritone. She had to work another eight hours minimum and she was going to hear the song in her head the whole time, in Ben’s undeniably sexy voice.
“You have good taste, Rey,” Ben said.
“Damn straight,” she said, shrugging. She was an engineering student working double shifts at a grocery store during a pandemic to try and pay her rent and her student loans. She’d take what she could get. Which was evidently free hand sanitizer and fantasies about her boss that, based on the look he was giving her, might have some basis in reality.
Couldn’t someone ask if they were out of two percent?

Don’t you hear my call though you’re many years away - Chapter 2
A/N As usual for me, I don’t care about my word count, but it’s a fairly long chapter. Forgive and grammar or punctuation issues. If you enjoy this, please reblog!
Warnings: Angst and can get dialog heavy.
Summery: You the reader finally gets to travel back in time.
Tumblr media
That morning, plans started being made. The first decision was when I should go back, and being that summer was just around the corner, that was the obvious choice. But for how long?
After some discussing, I agreed to a month. It would be hard, seeing as I’d have to figure out how to hide this from my family, which I hated. But the idea of spending a month in 1971 London was too enticing. Especially when it involved seeing Queen.
Within a few days the plan was made. I told my family I’d be staying in the dorms with Sierra for the summer, saying that she got a job and hoped I could too. I’d leave my phone with her so she could post updates to my social media periodically. She’d answer my text and emails, but phone calls would have to be avoided.
Maybe when I got back I could get a job, I had worked through the school year at the college itself, but I still didn’t like lying to my family. All they asked was that I come home for my Dads birthday.
Everything was being set in motion.
The last few weeks of school flew by and crawled at the same time. Between studying for finals and planning my ‘trip’ I didn’t have time for much else, that included not thinking about ex boyfriend.
**
I emerged from my last final of the semester, into the summer sun. May was coming to an end, and in June I’d be leaving.
I turned my face toward the sun, closing my eyes, soaking up the light and heat.
My phone buzzed in my hand, drawing me out of my mindlessness.
Looking down I saw a text from Claire
Let’s go get you some funky threads!
Followed by
Yeah I have no clue about slang in the 70s! It’s time to shop hunny!
Laughing, I started my walk back to my dorm.
**
“Ugh corduroy is disgusting” I moaned as I stepped out of a dressing room.
“It is, but they look good on you” Dustin said from where he was sitting in a weird wicker chair. He had found this vintage clothing shop, and decided it would be the best place to look for my 70s wardrobe.
“The styles then were not made for my body type” I said as I looked at myself in a long mirror.
“You’re beautiful babe!” Claire yelled from the other side of the small store, where she was rifling through the clothes.
I laughed and rolled my eyes as I returned the dressing room.
“What about these hair styles” Dustin spoke up again. “Some of them are...yeah...they just are, no words!”
I had just stepped into a pair of plaid bell bottoms that I paired with a white billowy top. This outfit isn’t too terrible, I thought to myself.
Once again I left the dressing room, and responded to Dustin.
“I was thinking of wearing it straight. That was a style then right? Cher had long straight hair...” I said.
Claire rounded a short rack, with a pile of clothes in her arms. She was loving this.
She looked me up and down, smiling she said “get that! It looks great on you! Makes it look like you have legs for days!”
She shoved the pile of clothes at me and piggy backed off my suggestion of straight hair.
“Straight hair was a style, but you’ll have to learn the makeup too!” She said cheerfully.
“Really” I mumbled from behind the heap of clothes “maybe this wasn’t such a good idea. I have to buy a whole new...used or whatever wardrobe, and now the hair and makeup styles? I don’t even keep up with today’s styles!”
“It will be worth it thought!” Dustin said, still scrolling through his phone.
Claire came up behind me and started steering me back into the dressing room all while saying “you have to look the part!”
The “That 70’s” fashion show continued for an hour. And I did indeed leave with a new wardrobe. I walked away with 2 pair of the shortest shorts I’d even owned, 3 pair of bell bottoms, including the corduroy, 7 tops, a few fun tees, and 2 pair of shoes. One of which was a pair of platforms that Claire insisted on, saying everyone wore them. I just hoped I didn’t break something while walking in them. I even found a dress that I actually liked. I wasn’t sure I’d need it, but Claire said to get it.
The entire drive back to campus Claire was going over the things I needed to buy once I was back in 1971. If she written this list on paper, it probably would have been a mile long.
Meanwhile, I sat quietly in the back seat, with my new, musty, apparel.
Dustin was eyeing me in the rear view when he spoke over Claire’s rambling.
“Hey, just focus on one thing at a time. Get a room first, then see what’s happening around you. No need to go overboard” he said.
Nodding, I mumbled “room first.”
Back in my dorm, I began sorting through the clothes so I could wash them, in hopes of ridding the musty smell. But the time alone was giving me time to think. Time to worry. Worry about what would happen if I wanted to come home sooner? Worry about what if something happened here while I was gone? What if something happened to me while I was gone?
This allowed the panic to set in. It was overwhelming and devouring any excitement I felt.
I began to feel nauseous. I was cold but sweating. I sat on my bed, taking deep breaths, trying to steady myself. I could do this. I wanted to do this. It had been my idea.
I would do this. I would go back to 1971 and see Queen, possibly even meet them. It would be a fun and exciting, albeit scary, adventure. I would do this.
The days that followed my friends didn’t allow me much time to myself. I’m not sure if it’s because they knew what I was going through, even without me saying, or because they knew I’d be leaving soon and they wanted time with me. Maybe it was a bit of both.
**
The night before my trip I couldn’t sleep, I tossed and turned, my mind was constantly going over scenarios or advice I’d been given.
Finally at 6am I allowed myself to get out of bed, so I went over my check list for the thousandth time.
At 7am I started getting ready. I had to be at Ryan’s at 9am, so I didn’t rush. I made sure I looked at natural 70s makeup and pictures of Cher for hair inspiration.
Once I was ready, I grabbed my suitcase and backpack, and headed to my car.
I still had some time before I was supposed to arrive so I swung through Starbucks and grabbed coffee for everyone. Especially me. Exhaustion was setting in.
I’d completely forgotten what I was wearing when I pulled up to the window. The barista gave me an odd look, and I mumbled something about a 70s themed party. Who had a party this early in the day, I thought to myself. But she must have bought it because she laughed as she handed me 2 trays of drinks.
When I pulled into the driveway at Ryan’s I still had about 10 minutes before I was supposed to arrive. Not wanting to seem too eager, I stayed in my car, leaning my head back and closing my eyes. Being exhausted and nervous a the same time was too much.
Suddenly there was a knock at my window, which caused me to scream and almost spill my coffee.
Ryan was laughing so hard he could hardly stand up straight when I flung the door open.
“Are you trying to give me a heart attack?” I asked, clutching at my chest.
He continued to laugh as he tried to invite me inside. I swatted at him and told him to grab the coffee.
Once we were inside and Ryan had stopped laughing at me, we sat in relative silence, sipping our liquid energy.
Finally he spoke up “you look like you stepped right out of the 70s.”
“Thanks...I’m scared” I finally said it out loud.
“Hey, Y/N, it’s ok...” he was cut off by a loud knock at the door, which then flung open as the rest of our friends hurried in.
There was so much talking and so many questions that I couldn’t even respond. The overwhelming feeling was coming back and my stomach was in knots.
After my friends had downed their coffee, we headed to the room where the “machine” resided.
It was like a dream. I was usually on the other side, waving goodbye to my friend, but the roles were now reversed. They stood there, their faces full of excitement and expectation, while I stared at them with wide eyes and my blood rushing in my ears. My fight or flight instinct was kicking in, but I stood my ground.
I looked each of my friends in the eyes one more time, when I finally came to Ryan, he said “see ya soon”.
That must have been my warning, because the next thing I knew, I felt the air leave my lungs, like I’d been punched in the stomach. It wasn’t at all what I expected. I thought I’d feel like I was falling, instead it was like the snap back when you’re bungee jumping.
Abruptly the feeling stopped, gasping, and I felt soft grass under my hands, I heard the sounds of a city, and I opened my eyes to the bright sun.

CHAPTER TEN.
JTRM — THE “R” STANDS FOR RECOVERING!
PREVIOUSLY.
CHAPTER 10!!! THE BIG ONE-OH! this fic is officially classified “burn as slow as FUCK”
i hope the long awaited reveal is not disappointing. and coherent. this chapter’s a mess ghgnjdkagbj i’m laughing again GOD. and thank you all again for your kind comments and messages and sticking with me this long!!!
Johnny fidgeted his heels against the carpeted floor of Devi’s sedan, uncertain about why they were going on another outing so soon after their last. They had only returned home long enough to put away all of their newly acquired foodstuffs, then Devi had ushered him right back out to the car. He had intended to make dinner again – something more elaborate than instant meals or canned soup, as an apology for his severe misstep tonight – but Devi informed him that dinner could wait, with a rather content smile on her face, he noted.
And she did seem happy now, too, which made him very uneasy.
Devi wasn’t so quick to forgive, and yet she was driving and singing along with the music that she had on at a deafening volume, smirking at nothing from time to time. She looked very sure about something, and Johnny couldn’t imagine what it was.
As they pulled into the parking lot of All-Mart, he guessed that her smile was because she intended to torture him with a trip through a wretched DEPARTMENT STORE.
“Devi… why are we here? I don’t want to go into that revolting Hellhole.” Johnny hid halfway behind the frame of the door as he looked out the window at all the people that were still out shopping, even at this moderately late hour – moderately late for people that slept, anyway.
“Just wanted to look at a couple of things.” Devi answered smoothly as she clicked the engine off. Johnny’s frown warbled unconfidently, but he had little choice besides joining Devi as she exited the car.
He hunched slightly while they walked, moving ever-closer to Devi as they passed more and more people – awful, contemptable people! That has to be her intention; to punish him further for his outburst at the supermarket. And here he thought that he was the expert in inflicting agony.
The inside of the store was so bright and horrible, he couldn’t stand it. The intercom boasted a disgustingly sweet, fake-positive woman’s voice, that continuously repeated commercials for the store’s bargains and sales – what was the POINT of that? They were already IN the store, there was no need to advertise further!! It made Johnny twitch and glower in annoyance, which Devi took notice of, but then made no attempt to ease his nerves.
Devi hated department stores almost as much as Johnny did, but only felt giddiness from the idea that had hatched in her mind earlier. She turned them into the Baby section of the store, and resisted the urge to wrap her arm around Johnny’s neck to make sure he didn’t go far while she browsed. Johnny, now almost in a full crouch as he shuffled backwards beside her, had no intention of moving even an inch further from her side, out of fear and contempt for his surroundings. He hardly even registered that they were in an aisle coated with different options for teething rings and burb-bibs.
With her eyes moving back to watch Johnny every so often, Devi searched the shelves until she found what she so desired; a toddler harness. Johnny was so thin that one might actually fit on him, with the right adjustments. And if it cut into his underarms, that would be tough shit!
She plucked one off of a hook to examine it closer. It was a cute little piggy, and had the clasps and leash attachment that she was so very interested in. Even if she was certain that Johnny could figure out how to unbuckle it, she hoped that his spur-of-the-moment rush toward a target would alert her that he was up to something, and she could stop him before he did anything more. For once she was thankful that he was so single-minded when he was hungry for violence.
Devi had all but decided to buy the harness, until she turned it around and saw the price tag.
Thirty-five FUCKING dollars.
She recoiled her head back, as though it physically pained her to purchase something so stupid for such an equally stupid price. There was no way that she was going to drop that kind of cash on a dumbass little piggy-thing after she just had to blow a hundred or so dollars on groceries! It wasn’t like the freelance gigs were rolling in with a steady stream of money!
Surely there had to be a cheaper alternative, she thought, as she dug through the different brands of baby attachments. She was dismayed to find anything cheaper was made of material that looked like it could barely keep an infant subdued, let alone an adult maniac. Devi sighed in annoyance.
One of her fingers ticked away at the digits on her opposite hand as she mentally tallied the money that should be left in her checking account, debating if she had enough to spare for this and still make rent. Just as she was considering dipping into her cushion of “disaster fund” money – Johnny was arguably just as much of a disaster as a broken-down car, or an impromptu bone fracture – the glitter of metal clasps on the aisle across from them caught her eye.
Devi tilted her head towards the Pet section with renewed interest.
The new idea that her brain was constructing was almost too cruel, but she was beyond caring about if or how Johnny’s ego would suffer at this point. She waved her hand near Johnny’s face to rouse him from his paranoia, then walked across the aisle, slow enough that she could make certain Johnny was following her. Johnny jolted at being left behind for even a second, and scampered after her in a mild panic. He took his spot behind Devi again, and began ringing his hands together in an effort to ease himself, seeing as Devi wasn’t offering him any such kindness.
Devi nodded approvingly that he had stayed close, then went to work inspecting the various dog collars and leashes that decorated the wall. She took a sturdy looking leash off of its hook, and sprung the clasp a few times with her thumb. A smile grew on her face the more she played with it – this might offer even better control than a toddler harness. After all, this was supposed to be for a massive dog, not a little wobbly baby.
She flipped the packaging around, and was unbothered by the modest $8.99 price tag. While it was still more than Devi was willing to spend on pet supplies, for something as simple as this, she knew where to go to get it at a price that she could afford.
--
A LOCAL DOLLAR STORE:
“This is just as good.” Devi boasted, relishing in the rare sensation of triumph as she held up her choices; a black dog collar and its matching black leash. Johnny stood at her side, one finger on his lip in befuddlement.
“Do you have a dog?” He asked. They hadn’t lived together long, but he hadn’t seen nor heard any indications that Devi had a dog. He wondered if she was planning on getting one – a large one, by the looks of it – to keep him in check, or for some other nefarious plot to coerce him to comply with her wishes. Devi looked at him with a shine in her eyes and an excited smile that disturbed him slightly.
Johnny followed behind her as she bought the two items in question, puzzling all the way about what evil purpose she had in mind for them. Clearly there was nothing normal about this purchase, if her response was so bizarre. They walked out to the front of the store, and Devi stopped him before he could move out of the overhead lights’ reach. She was too eager to wait until they got home to fit the collar on him, and wanted to instead give the whole system a test run tonight.
“Come here.” She spoke with a smile, urging him to face her. Johnny did as he was told, and watched her unclasp the collar with the leash draped over her elbow. Devi adjusted the collar until it was as tight as she could make it, then moved to put it on him.
Johnny’s spine straightened with paralyzing static as Devi’s wrists brushed over each of his shoulders, and he stood taut and motionless while she worked to fasten the collar on his neck.
He could barely comprehend what she was doing when she was standing so painfully close, and his heart quickened in the confusion, able to do little else besides push hot blood to his face. As her hands moved to the front of his throat, Johnny arched his neck back and away, trying desperately to distance himself from the tantalizing proximity of Devi’s person to his. He kept his focus on the sky, begging anything up there to interest his mind more than the woman mere inches away.
Just as his turmoil felt like it was going to take him off the rails, a click! and soft tug distracted him, and he looked down to realize fully that Devi had just put a dog collar on him.
“WH—” Johnny baulked at his unwanted accessory. “DEVI, WHAT—”
“Oh, I don’t want to hear it from you, Captain of the Skull Bludgeoning Committee.” She pointed at him, though her smug smile remained.
Johnny scowled in embarrassment, but just as he was going to rant to her that he was not a fucking dog, and that he demanded more respect than this, and that this was completely humiliating, Devi brought a hand up and looped her finger into his collar, tugging him forward and unintentionally garbling any of the words that he had prearranged for her. She stuck her tongue out, pleased, as she clicked the leash’s clasp onto the ring of the collar.
“There we go.” Devi hummed. Johnny looked down to the black lead that now attached his neck firmly to Devi’s fist, and couldn’t help but find the observation both terrifying and comically befitting.
“Come, maniac.” Her voice caught his attention again. She chuffed and turned to walk down the sidewalk. “I think we deserve some tacos for this little excursion!”
“Oooh, tacos.” Johnny’s eyes grew shiny and wide, and he trailed after her eagerly at the prospect of a yummy, greasy dinner. He tucked away his lingering resentment, and vowed to bring it up later, once they were home and full of food. He might have a better shot at convincing her once she’s eaten something.
--
DAYS LATER:
“…Is this really Devi?” Tenna asked into her phone skeptically.
“What—yes, it’s me.”
“I don’t recall the Devi I know asking me to go outside WILLINGLY in at LEAST a year. Maybe LONGER.” Her voice grew even more incredulous, and she tumbled Spooky in her hands while she debated if her friend had been probed by aliens, or replaced by an android. Devi scoffed.
“You can just say you don’t want to go. I was just going to take Johnny… out. Y’know. Maybe go see a movie, eat among the masses. Something disgusting like that.” She replied.
“Is this a date thing?” Tenna asked. She could almost feel the cold aura expelling off of Devi through the receiver of her phone, and she snickered. “Ok, so not a date thing. What is it then?”
“Just a little test of his will again, that’s all.” Devi hummed, and one of Tenna’s eyes narrowed suspiciously at the rather happy tone in her voice. Very, very strange.
“Oo-okayyy…” Tenna drew out, then regathered her standard chipper attitude. “OKAY! I’ll be up in a little bit.”
“But… you’re closer to the ground floor. Wouldn’t it make more sense for us to meet you down—”
“SEE YA IN A BIT!” She laughed and hung up, leaving Devi with no option but to wait for her.
--
Devi stepped out of her room, newly dressed and rubbing a towel on her still-damp hair. Every time she had to wash it, she reminded herself that it would need to be cut soon – even with her hair barely past her jaw, it was still too long for her taste. Too annoying to manage.
She turned her attention to Johnny, who was sitting with his knees up on the couch, watching TV. Devi’s self-satisfied smile returned – she had been wearing it an awful lot lately. Johnny wasn’t too keen on going out tonight, besides the fact that they would be going to the Camera, but Devi was excited to put him through another trial-run with the leash.
Eating out at a taco shop was one thing, and she certainly felt more at ease with him tethered to her, but it was hardly enough to prove that it would work consistently. She hoped that some dumbass at the theater or on the street would give him a reason to lunge, and then she could really give this new mechanic a test.
Johnny looked up as she approached, and smiled against himself at how nice she looked. He liked all her outfits, but she dressed differently when she was leaving the house.
“Are you ready to go?” He asked casually.
“Almost, just need to tie up my hair.” Devi replied, then went to ask him the same, when a new, uneasy thought came to her.
There was only one bathroom in the apartment, and seeing as it was conjoined to her bedroom, Johnny was never in it when she was asleep. And she couldn’t recall, in all the times she was conscious with him at home, which was always now, Johnny ever using her bathroom to shower. Devi’s eyelid wiggled.
“Johnny… do you—” She didn’t know how to ask this gently. “Have you bathed since you moved in?”
Johnny stared at her incredulously.
“Yes, of course.” He shrugged her comment off. “I just wash my head in the kitchen sink. And then scrub my arms and things with a dish rag, or what-have-you.”
That’s how he preferred to bathe when he lived alone too, unless he was completely covered in some disgusting fluid like blood or mud. Being naked to shower was unpleasant, and he tried to avoid it as much as he could, preferring instead to meticulously scrub and scrape away dirt and dead skin with his hands – gloved hands, unless otherwise impossible.
Devi stared at him in horrified disgust.
“UP.” She yelled at him, and yanked him up into a standing position. Johnny barely had a chance to steady himself before Devi was rushing him toward her room. He panicked.
Her bedroom was the only part of the apartment that he was still unfamiliar with, and for good reason; it was Devi’s domain. It was the most ‘Devi’ room of all the rooms in the entire world, and it made him nervous and awed to be inside it. Every time he had to use the restroom, he hurried in and out as quickly as he could, and tried not to look at anything too long, as though Devi would be aware of him snooping in her personal things.
His body lurched a little as Devi pushed him past the threshold of her bedroom door, and he skidded on the carpet the rest of the way.
“WAIT, WAIT!” Johnny called, but his cries fell on repulsed, deaf ears.
“TAKE A SHOWER.” Devi ordered him and threw him inside, shutting the door as a loud ‘period’ at the end of her sentence. “UGH… Disgusting…!”
Johnny stood in a crouch with his wrists crossed, looking around unconfidently at the four walls of the bathroom as though they were his prison. A sharp knock startled him.
“I’ll leave your clothes to change into outside the door!”
He frowned, then frowned more when he heard her bedroom door close too. A grimace crawled over his mouth, but again, he was compelled to do as Devi said.
--
Devi slouched in her armchair, pigtails upright now, rolling her ankle over her knee in annoyance. She should have realized he hadn’t properly bathed in weeks, but why was that even up to her to handle? He should have asked her to use the shower! What kind of goblin was he that he didn’t shower?
The door to her room clicked open, and Johnny stepped out, a wide, moping frown on his face, like a child that had been forced to eat his broccoli. He was dressed in the outfit she picked out, and held his dirty clothes in a ball out in front of him with both hands.
“Where can I put these to dry?” Johnny asked. “Should I just leave them in the sink?”
Devi’s eyebrow twitched in disbelief as she realized that the wad of clothing was soaking wet.
“…WHY…” She took in a deep breath. “Why are your other clothes WET?”
“I showered with them on, and then changed into these.” Johnny replied, as thought it was obvious. Devi thought she might have a hernia.
“NNY you are the WEIRDEST FUCKER on EARTH, I swear to GOD!!” She exclaimed, fingers clutching the arms of her chair as she stared out across the other side of the room. Johnny frowned in surprise.
“I don’t see why that’s so WEIRD—”
“Don’t even… Do not.” Devi pinched her fingers closed on each hand, a gesture for him to shut his mouth. “It’s fine, it’s fine. Just… next time, try taking your clothes off… BEFORE getting in the shower.”
“If you’re worried I didn’t wash my body that’s not—” Johnny huffed.
“Ah. Ah.” Devi held up a hand and exhaled. “I don’t want to know, it’s fine. Just hang your clothes over the fucking… shower curtain. Thanks.”
Johnny’s brow creased in annoyance; he didn’t want her to think he was unhygienic! He was very clean! It’s not like she noticed he hadn’t ‘properly’ bathed because he smelled musty and gross; he couldn’t even bear the repugnant stench of B.O. himself.
He harrumphed, and returned to the bathroom to hang his damp clothes, leaving Devi alone to rub her forehead wearily. Her quiet was short-lived.
Devi could hear Tenna’s door slam even from two floors up, and rolled her eyes at her friend’s overexuberance. Hopefully Johnny didn’t filet someone and ruin all of her fun for the evening. She got up and moved to her room to grab her long coat, meeting Johnny halfway. He lingered, unsure if he should stay inside her room or not, but Devi didn’t seem to mind. She slid her jacket on, then turned to give him a once over.
“There, don’t you look all nice and polished.” Devi smiled at him, observing as she did that he’d bothered to comb his hair post-shower. Johnny’s mouth vanished at the sudden compliment, then slowly returned with a broad grin.
“Oh, thank you.” He felt himself relax some, and folded his hands behind his back. As long as Devi was pleased with his efforts, any annoyances he had with her requests paled in comparison to the reward.
The door shook to life with a series of energetic knocks, drawing their attention to it. Johnny stared at the door with minor hostility, but lowered his eyelids in boredom as Tenna’s voice resounded on the other side.
“DEVI-I-I, I’M HE-ERE!” She sung. Johnny grumbled, and Devi chuckled a little at his response.
“You’ll have to keep me sane.” She commented to him quietly as she moved to answer the door, and Johnny blinked in surprise from the tone of camaraderie in her voice. It made him feel strange; almost hopeful that their friendship could be stabilizing to some degree. Exciting!
“DEVI!” Tenna squealed as the door opened. “This is so EXCITING!”
Johnny watched Tenna’s dancing with more suspicion, and skulked behind Devi for safety. Devi laughed, and moved to fish Johnny’s collar out of the deep pocket of her coat.
“Relax, you’re scaring my maniac.” A snide chuckle, and she turned to Johnny to loop the constraint around his neck. He felt less anxious about the action now that he was expecting it, but it still overstimulated his being too much for his liking, and he tilted his chin up high to ignore it.
Tenna stared at the scene before her with wide, mildly terrified eyes.
“Okay.” Devi said as she clicked the collar shut. “Where’d I throw that leash?”
“It’s in the kitchen…” Johnny answered, a little begrudgingly. His attempts to convince her to not use this new restraint tactic of hers had gone absolutely nowhere. Devi thanked him and went to retrieve it.
“UM.” Tenna managed out of her shock. Johnny brought his shoulders up to his ears as he crossed his arms.
Devi returned with what Tenna was haunted to see was, as assumed, a literal dog leash. She attached it to Johnny’s collar and gave it a couple gentle tugs to make sure everything was secure.
“—WHAT AM I WATCHING HERE?” Tenna yelled, throwing her arms in the direction of the pair that was causing her so much emotional and mental distress. “IS THIS SOME KINDA BDSM THING?”
Devi and Johnny shot her matching looks of concern and disgust.
“NO. Jesus!” Devi wound the end of the leash around her knuckles. “This is how I’m keeping him in line when we go out now, since he can’t—” She threw Johnny a quick glare. “—CONTROL HIMSELF.”
Johnny sulked at the floor, but made no move to correct her. Tenna took a second to process what she was being told, looking between them and the leash a few times.
“…OOH.” She said finally. “THAT’S why you want to go out tonight, isn’t it!? To test… whatever this is!”
Internally, Devi cursed Tenna for her inability to be covert, but outwardly she smiled confidently.
“Not at all!” She spoke with a grin. “We’re just going to the movies. C’mon, Nny.”
Devi gave his leash a soft pull to urge him forward, and she led Johnny into the hallway with no resistance. Tenna poked her lips out curiously, but knew better than to try and figure out Devi’s convoluted plans at this point. She stepped outside and allowed Devi to lock the door, then enthusiastically led the way out of the building.

1984 Gift Exchange Entry
Alright, I did something for the 1984-event by @th0ughtcriminal.The prompt was… strange to me, I have to say, being ‘1984 but Winston is Kermit the Frog.’ Yet, I tried my best. Also, sorry if there are weird mistakes in the spelling or the grammar or if I got some names wrong, my native language is Dutch and I read the book in Dutch as well.
While pretending to look at his typewriter, Kermit scanned the other people in his department. He saw a few of his co-workers doing the same. He felt a little stint of fear whenever he and someone else accidently made eye-contact. Did they know something about him? Did the man in the back of the room know his secret? Did mister Nint know? He swiftly looked back at his typewriter with shaking green hands and whited out a part of the document he was working on.
A few minutes later, he heard the people around him get up . They were whispering to each other. Oh, was it time for the Two Minutes Hate already? Kermit swiftly stood up and walked to the entrance of the room as quickly as his froggy feet allowed. While walking into the room of hate, he caught a glimpse of Her. His blood immediately started to boil in his veins. There was something about… Her. He quickly looked away. Yet, he could feel Her presence in the room, the way you could feel a threat looming around you.
Goldstein begun speaking on the screen. One person started yelling. Three more joined in. Soon, the whole room was yelling, and Kermit couldn't help but join in as well. The pressure became too much every single time, no matter how hard he tried to stay quiet. He noticed that the woman next to him gave him a weird look. Kermit quieted down a bit under her gaze. He knew other people found his peculiar voice annoying. Of course, he couldn't do anything about it. Only the ministry could, if they decided croaking was against the party.
He saw Her again when he walked out of the room. This time, She made eye contact with him. Out of panic, Kermit did not move his head away. She gave him a small wink, before walking down the hallway and disappearing out of sight. Kermit turned around on his heels, and ran back to his desk. He felt the blood rush to his head. He did not care that mister Foor gave him a very suspicious look. Mister Foor gave everyone suspicious looks, it probably meant nothing.
After a long, exhaustion day of work, Kermit retired to his horrible home, if he could even call it that. It was more like a closet that he just happened to have all of his stuff and himself in. Including his most prized possession. Without even pausing to get something to eat (All the good food was gone anyway), he stepped behind his secret sound proof wall, which was just small enough to not be seen by the screen on the wall. There. There it was. His own, sacred banjo. He picked it up and felt a wave of happiness rising up in his chest. He strummed a few notes. He started to feel a stint of peace. He started playing his favourite melody. It was a melody that you could sing two songs on. One was a simple childrens’ tune, the other one was a protest song against the party. Kermit sometimes sang the children's song for his neighbours’ kids, but right now the lyrics of the patriotic song played in his head (he didn’t sing them out loud. Of course he did not sing them out loud).
After a few minutes, he slowly put the banjo down. The fear became to much - he was never sure if someone could hear him, even though he knew the screen was almost completely soundproof. Slowly, he walked into his kitchen to eat some very depressing food. There was only three day old chicken and bad noodles left, plus some carrots with suspicious spots on them. Ugh. Gross. Kermit wondered if even dogs would like to eat it. Still, he threw it into a crock pot with some water. Better something than nothing, he concluded.
While he was cooking his depressing stew, he suddenly thought of Her. She had winked at him. He wildly stirred his soup in order to drive the thoughts away. The smell of the dish hit his… nostrils… (He had never known what to call his frog nose, and now that language got poorer and poorer and thinner and thinner, it did not get easier), and the thoughts of Her disappeared out of his mind while he coughed.
When Kermit woke up the next day, he did not feel any better. All he had to look forward to was yet another depressing day of working in the ministry of truth. Wait, no. What was good for the party was supposed to make him happy, he thought, not depressed. He slowly got out of bed. He ate the leftovers of his so-called meal for breakfast and did some morning gymnastics along with the screen, before stepping outside.
He was surprised. There was nobody in the hallway. Usually, Mister James was there waiting for him. Well, maybe the party had decided that being a blue muppet was illegal now, or he had said something that he really should not have. It was nothing Kermit had to keep thinking about. Slowly, on his own, he walked out of the apartment building. It was a weirdly freeing feeling. He felt like there was nobody looking over his shoulder. Yet, on the other hand, he knew it was just that - a feeling. Of course there was someone looking over his shoulder. There always was.
Yet, he noticed he wandered off. Instead of walking to the ministry of truth, he walked into town, where the regular folks lived. He looked around. The town was quiet so early in the morning. There were only a few women walking around doing some housework - laundry or grocery shopping.
It might have made him a little overconfident. He was so amazed by the new place, without other people to keep him in line, he simply forgot that he was being watched. He felt something bubbling in his stomach. He felt like strumming on his banjo for hours, until he could capture this feeling with the music. He remembered that there was a word for that once. It started with an I, he remembered that too. But what exactly the word had been was completely lost to history.
He took a left turn. He passed a few shops, which sold clothes. They were not very nice clothes, but to Kermit, they looked great (And he didn't even wear any clothes, he did not like the feel on his green skin). It felt like the day was getting better and better.
He took a right turn. The happy feeling disappeared within seconds. He tried to look down. Too late. He had made eye-contact with Her. Kermit felt the blood rushing through his body. He did not know what it was. Was it… shock? Did that word still exist?
He wished he could turn around and act like nothing had happened. But She would give his name to the thought police, and that would be it. Walking away made no difference. He looked up. If this was going to be it, he wanted to look her in the eye. When he did, however, she did something unexpected. She pointed to the house on the corner, then put up three fingers, before scurrying away.
Her appearance had broken the magic. Kermit was running through the street as fast as his feet could carry him, towards the ministry of truth. He knew there must be at least one person who saw him - but maybe not in the street with Her. Were there cameras there? Could it be that, just this once, nobody would have noticed that something had happened?
Oh, no, That was too much to hope for. He reached the door of the ministry of truth just in time - man, he never even noticed how much Mister James talked and slowed them down along the way until he did not walk with him anymore. Kermit walked past his colleagues, until he reached his desk. There were a bunch of articles laying on the desk of which he could swear that he went through them just the day before. He sighed deeply. Well, the word Poor should be scrapped from all of them now, according to the note next to the documents. Kermit felt confused while he sat down on his chair. He felt something rise in his chest, and it was something different then what he had felt while walking through the streets. It felt like his body was refusing to write. Like he was… oh, he did not know. The word was scrapped years ago.
It was 2 O'clock and after the two minutes hate when he remembered what She had signed him. Three O´ clock. The house on the corner. Kermit stood up - his job was done for the day. Slowly, he walked out of the building. He acted like he went towards his home, but instead he took a few odd turns, so that he was back in the town. He did not know if there were many cameras around. If there were, he needed to trick them. So, he walked to a clothing store he had seen before. He randomly pulled something out of a rack and bought it, so that it seemed like he had been thinking about buying it the whole day. That was not illegal. He might even be able to spin it into a lie that he wanted to start wearing clothes now. That would not garner to much suspicion, would it?
While trying to look as normal as he could, he walked to the house She had pointed at. He hesitated for a moment before knocking on the door. Slowly, the door opened about a centimetre. An older man looked at him. At that moment, Kermit felt like turning around and running for the hills. ´Eh…´
´Are you looking for Miss Piggy?´
´Um, Her, yeah…´
´Go upstairs.´ The man opened the door just wide enough for Kermit's small frog body to slip through. Kermit did not dare to look the man in the eye, but instead immediately scurried upstairs.
Miss Piggy was standing by the top of the stairs. ´You actually came. You are even early.´
´…Yes, I came.´
´What were you doing in the street earlier this morning?´
Kermit felt panic rising in his body. How did he not see it? Now he was trapped. Did he not see Her standing next to an higher-up before? Oh, now he would be dragged to  the ministry of love…
´I always walk around in this neighbourhood to get a sense of peace. It was freer, is it not? Much better for a star like me, even if it is dirty…´ Miss Piggy mused. She flipped her blond hair over her shoulder. Kermit did not know what to answer. Who´s side was She on?
´I… I felt that too. I felt like making music about it.´ Miss Piggy smiled.
´That sounds so wonderful.´
Kermit slowly began to feel better the longer he talked to Miss Piggy. It felt like everything he had been thinking about the party was finally confirmed for him. After what felt like hours and hours of talking, he jumped up. ‘We must do something about it!’
Miss Piggy gave him an amused look. ‘What do you mean?’
‘We must do something against…’ his words trailed off. He had been hit by a wave of sudden determination, but now he could not say it. Not out loud. Too risky. Yet, miss Piggy understood.
‘Yes, we need to do something. Yet, what then…’ she leaned a little closer. ‘Say, you were married before, right?’
Kermit suddenly felt a little weird. ‘Yes… but she is gone now.’
‘Really?’
‘Eh, yeah. Yet, the party…’
‘Did you get divorced?’
Kermit fell silent. No, they weren’t divorced, because they could not. He started to feel slightly… uncomfortable. He shrugged.
‘It does not matter.’ He reached for the piece of clothing he had bought. He suddenly saw Miss Piggy’s eyes narrow. ‘You bought a dress?’
For the first time, Kermit looked at the piece of clothing he had bought. Oh. Yes, he had bought a dress. A yellow one with pink flowers. ‘Eh… yeah.’
‘So… you are still married, then?’
‘No!’
Her expression changed from happy to thunder within a matter of seconds. ‘Maybe you should leave.’ Kermit picked up his dress.
‘Yes, erm, maybe I should.’ That did not make Her feel better, he could see it.  She wrapped Her arms in front of Her chest. ‘Alright.’ Kermit quickly ran out of the room, with the dress.
The next day, he saw Her again. For some reason, She winked. Kermit quickly looked back at his typewriter. He felt confused, more than usual, even. He slowly started to dissociate from the situation. Hm… if only he could play something on his banjo now… He should try to capture that amazing feeling he had, the first time he walked through town… Before everything with Her...

Quiet Intimacy - C.H.
Tumblr media
summary - Friends can sleep in each other’s beds, but friends don’t treat each other like you and Calum do.
word count - 3.9k+
author’s note - slow burn best friends to lovers AU again?? u betcha babey. you know that one cocktail chat where calum’s like ‘oh wassup baby’?? yeah i got inspiration from that. enjoy :-)
warnings - swearing, depressive episode/anxiety attack (it’s mainly just breakdown from stress u kno??), mentions of alcohol and drinking, mentions of water and (feeling like one is) drowning, fluff + angst
Calum thinks it’s pathetic - the situation he’s in. He’s not one for cliches and yet he’s living one each moment he continues to breathe. I mean truthfully, there’s nothing wrong with it, but he knows how this will complicate things more. Or maybe it won’t but he doubts that because friends shouldn’t think of friends like they are heaven, like they embody light and joy. Friends shouldn’t long to hold the other’s hand and imagine kissing their lips when their smile is so bright that its elegance transcends to you so you’re smiling back at them. Most importantly, friends shouldn’t like each other as more than friends and more as lovers.
“You were in my dream last night,” you admit to Calum. You take a sip from your water.
Calum chokes on his spoonful of cereal. He didn’t expect those words to come from your mouth. The beating in his chest quickens. He just assumed what he had was unrequited, but with those words, Calum thinks maybe it’s not. Maybe the feelings are mutual. Maybe your heart heard the song his played for you, the sweet melody of a tender affection for the beautiful angel who makes his heart race but also calms it with its kind nature. Once he recovers from his coughing fit, he replies, “Oh yeah, what about?”
You can’t help but admire how natural it is having Calum here. Your heart flutters at the domesticity. This is what people aspire for. They want something simple, something compassionate, something warm, and something enduring. You swallow another mouthful. “It’s not like anything weird, so chill.”
“Last time you told me about your dream that you said wasn’t weird was early 1900s themed and you had a pet dragon,” he retorts.
You glare at him and explain, “Well it’s not like that, so shut up and let me talk.” Calum rolls his eyes. “Um, well it was us at Ikea, that furniture store, you know the one --”
“I know what Ikea is (Y/N),” Calum intrudes. You throw a crumpled napkin at him. Calum quickly dodges it and watches the annoyance slowly build in your eyes. You scold, “Hey, I said don’t talk, but anyways we went to Ikea and you know that movie 500 Days of Summer?” Calum nods. “Yeah it was like that. We were exploring Ikea like Summer and Tom did. I thought it was nice and fun and- hey why are you looking at me like that?”
A smirk graces Calum’s lips, but Calum wouldn’t say it’s one. It’s not a smirk, but rather a bashful grin where only one corner of his mouth tilted up, while his eyes gleamed at you with hope and curiosity. The look on his face was a consequence of your earlier confession about him - you had a dream about him, a dream with him where you two went on a date. His innocent questions left you to incomprehensible sentences. “Does someone have a crush on me? Does (Y/N) specifically have a crush me, Calum Hood?”
“What? No. Me liking you? Please, that’s like, um, that’s like-,” you stutter.
“Yeah, okay, sure you don’t,” he chides. “A dream is a wish your heart makes, just saying.”
And his heart wants you. His heart dreams for you.
Calum wonders if you’ve ever considered him as something more than a friend. You probably don’t because this quiet intimacy you two have can be just as platonic as it can be romantic.
It was grocery day, meaning you and him would go to the supermarket to buy whatever foods you thought you were low on stock in your apartment. It was a joke at first for Calum to tag along when you went to the store, but now it feels unnatural if he’s not there. You accustomed to Calum’s commentary on which apple looked better than another, why it’s better to cut your own melons than buy the pre-cut fruit, his hesitance, but he quickly got over that uncomfortable feeling, of waiting in line at the register when you forgot one item and scurried back to the aisles to find it, and most of all, his insistence to always buy at least one box of his favorite cereal. You never do, of course, but he notices that you somehow always have it stocked in your pantry despite all his pleads.
This time around, it felt different. You didn’t want Calum to be there with you. You wanted to grocery shop alone for once. Maybe it was because you had a crap day at work and wanted to indulge in your stash of ice cream, but then you remembered you ate all of it last time Calum came over, so you felt even worse on your way back home. Maybe it was because the elevator broke down and you had to walk up four flights of stairs just to get to your apartment that you felt even snappier and annoyed that day. Maybe it was because you didn’t get a call or email back about your application for another job to quit your current one. Maybe it was a culmination of things that made your body feel like it was slowly walking down the shore of a beach. With each step, the tide pulled you further. The pull of the water was driving you into deep depths to the sea. The further you walked, the harder it was to move your body back to its origin. Your movements stalled as you noticed as a wave begins to form. Your breath quickened in and out of your lungs, because you’ve never been this far out before by yourself; with other people, yes, but alone, no. The wave gained more momentum as it swam to you. Just as it struck down on you, you heard a voice call out your name. Once it hit, the water ran and so did your tears.
You thought you were drowning, that you were done for, that this was the end. You couldn’t breathe and you couldn’t move, but you smelled a hint of musk in the water. Wait, that doesn’t make sense.
It was then you realized you weren’t in the ocean trapped in a current. You opened your eyes to find your body trapped in strong arms. The unknown arms keeper whispered soft reassurances to you in a long hug. Your senses slowly regained when you turned your head up and saw a familiar face.
The dark colored hair, the slight stubble on their chin, the soft cotton shirt, the trace of smoke hidden in the aroma of their cologne, and the beautiful plump pink lips.
Calum whispered again to your hair, “you’re okay. It’s okay. You’re okay. I got you.”
You sighed into his neck. His arms pulled away as he led you back to your front door. He set you down on the sofa as he prepared you a glass of water. He handed you the cup and wouldn’t take it back until you finished all of its contents.
You hated this part, the part where Calum pressed on and on about what’s wrong and what happened to you. You prepared for his splurge of questions, but it never came. Instead he cleared his throat and breathed, “I, um, I saw the list.”
Your eyebrows furrowed. Calum grabbed for something in his pocket. “The grocery list. I got your stuff already. Thought I forgot somethin’ here Tuesday and was gonna ask you to look but remembered you gave the spare, so I kinda just came over and saw it,” he admitted. “I know we usually go together, but I had to get some stuff too, so thought mind as well do yours too. Sorry if that’s like a no-no. I won’t do it again.”
A gentle smile drew on your face at Calum’s shy rambles. You stood from the couch and pulled him up. Your arms wrapped around his torso as you mumbled, “Thank you. Thank you so much.”
Calum knew he shouldn’t leave you in such a fragile state, but he really needed to get back home and tend to Duke. He mustered the confidence. “I know you just got home, but do you wanna head over to my place? We could just do take out and you can take the guest room if you’re still tired.”
During the drive to his, you couldn’t keep your hands still. The crying session was over, yes, but the stress was still there and you had no release of that. At a red light, Calum reached for one hand and interlaced his fingers with yours, a reassurance that he was there for you and you aren’t alone. He pressed his lips to the back of your hand and rested your entwined hands on your thigh once the traffic light switched to green. As the tires ran to their next destination, Calum’s thumb ran soft and slow laps on your skin.
When you finally reached his house, you didn’t want to let go. If you left the vehicle, then the intimacy that transpired in Calum’s car would also disappear. Those twenty minutes of peace, quiet, and simply being together, like what you had was something more, something more than what you and Calum simply were - friends - would soon fade into a distant memory of a romance that set ablaze for fleeting moments but quickly put out.
Calum turned to you, still holding your hand. He spoke, “Hey, I think we should at least get in before the sun sets, no?”
You exhale loudly. You mumbled, “Okay, yeah. Let’s go.”
You pulled the tab to open the car door, but Calum was already there outside your door. He was breathless. He chuckled before squatting in front of you, still gasping for air. “Can’t let my best girl walk again after those four flights of stairs. Come on, hop on.”
Everything after the piggy back became hazy if someone asked you to describe what happened that day. There was one thing you didn’t expect to find a picture of you asleep on Calum’s chest with his arm around you on his sofa on your phone. You most certainly didn’t expect for Ashton’s text in the group chat to say, “and you two say you aren’t together.”
Calum understands how having feelings for his best friend can either make or break the two of you. That’s why he’s concealed it from you for so long. He only told the boys and he fears they might be the ones that will tell you in a drunken stupor or out of pure accident, but he knows they wouldn’t. They’re his boys and their friendship was always greater than putting one of their love interests at stake over friendship.
Take right now for instance. You’re with the boys, but you’re leaning against Calum as you watch Ashton instruct them how to make some concoction of an alcoholic drink. Michael quickly pours in the alcohol, while Luke steadily pours in some type of chaser - fruit punch, you think it is but you’re not too sure - to mask the putrid taste of vodka.
You whisper into Calum’s ear, “Do they want to die tonight or?”
Calum laughs at your remark. He isn’t even sure why they’re throwing a party. Maybe it’s to celebrate how well received the released singles for their upcoming album have been, but still they usually don’t go all out like this. Calum is about to respond, but before he could speak, Luke shouts, “Grab your cups, lads and non-initiated lad, (Y/N)! Time to drink! Cocktail chats, let’s do this!”
Calum sees Ashton add a paper umbrella and slice of pineapple to two vibrant colored drinks that you’re holding. He sighs before taking the glass from you. “You know you don’t have to drink? Like we, I mean the boys and I, are just doing this for the fans yknow? I’m sure there’s water somewhere.”
You smile at his concern. “It’s okay. I’m not going to drink much after seeing all that vodka Michael poured in and then Ashton snuck in, so I’m good.”
He chuckles at your distaste. You never really were a big drinker like them. They say the gasoline taste goes away, but it’s not true. Well it’s partial true; however, it takes a whole lot of time, and whole lot of other alcohol and maybe something non-alcoholic before the gross liquid becomes semi-palatable.
You don’t know what song on the album they’re at after your fifth drink, so much for not drinking huh. You just know makeshift cocktail in your hand tastes good. You were weary at the start, but once you tasted it, you didn’t seem to mind. Michael even admit that it was actually two parts fruit punch and one part vodka, because they knew they shouldn’t get too hammered while filming. Still, the amount you’ve consumed is far less compared to the boys drank so far.
Noticing a bright glow on your face, Calum approaches you with languid, yet flimsy steps. He nudges your shoulder and you quickly hide your phone in your butt pocket. “You okay?”
“Yeah, just a little tired, yknow?” you reveal. Your eyes search around the room and you quickly ask, “Do you know where the bathroom is?”
Calum pauses, “I think it’s down that hall and first door on your left. It’s one of the two doors over there if I’m wrong.”
As you venture to the hallway, you hear Calum scold himself. Fuckin’ idiot why didn’t you walk her there?
One of the consequences of alcohol: you have to pee so fucking much. It’s worse than water, because you have to pee like every twenty minutes. You get bloated when you drink too much and god, you hate drinking. You swear you’re done drinking after you wash your hands, but are soon mistaken when Ashton forces two drinks in your hands once you exit. Luke spews nonsense into your ear when you reach the back wall as Calum gets ready to film his part for the song. Luke starts, “You know this was supposed to be band mates exclusive only.” You raise your eyebrows with slight interest at Luke as he rambles. “But we have a soft spot for you.” You give Luke a soft smile to show you’re listening and place the two drinks Ashton gave to you on the side table. You’re an earshot away when Luke mutters “especially Calum,” but you only hear a mumble about Calum and nothing else until Luke’s little spur is interrupted by Ashton yelling at him to grab another drink before he films the next shot. Luke mutters a quick apology before throwing his and another phone into your hands. It’s Calum’s because you see the rocket sticker you put on his case after you bought a batch of 100 stickers off the internet for cheap. His phone goes off from a text and you see that his background is the picture Ashton sent two months ago, the one where you and Calum are snuggled together on his sofa. Your heart flutters at the sight. He’s so loving, so gentle, so kind.
Calum’s voice echoes in the living room and you look up from your spot. He’s trying to explain something, but he’s so giggly that he can’t finish his story properly. It comes in short takes. You slowly sip on your drink as you watch him talk to joyfully about the new music he’s about to release.
“Let me tell you how it went down,” he starts, “they come into our room and we’re like --” He notices you watching and absentmindedly voices his thoughts, “Oh wassup baby?” He shakes his head with a smile. “Don’t put that in,” he laughs. “They come into our room and --”
Everything Calum said after came as white noise. You saw him directly look at you when he said that line. ‘Oh wassup baby?’ And the picture on his lockscreen? You feel as time has slowed and your main focus on Calum transforms into the ikea date again. You’re imagining what it’s like to hold his hand, what it’s like to kiss his cheeks without it being a problem, without Calum’s teasing, what it’s like to fall asleep in his arms and not worry whether you did something disgraceful. Your heart soars at the thought of being in a relationship with him. It’d be wonderful, such a beautiful, wonderful thing.
It’s been an hour and a half since the filming stopped and you’re just lazing on the patio chair admiring the view from Ashton’s house. You hear the screen door open, but don’t bother to check who it is. You assume it’s Calum. “Hey (Y/N), we’re all heading out, but I don’t trust myself with driving so is it cool if we crash here?” You nod at his words, not really listening to what he’s saying. “There’s only two spare rooms and Luke and Michael took the one with two beds so, um, do you wanna share? Or do you want to sleep by yourself? Or-” You continue nodding but not really paying attention. “(Y/N). Hey (Y/N).” His fingers snaps. “Do you want to share a room and sleep?” You stopped nodding when your brain registered ‘room’ and ‘sleep.’
You respond weakly, “Okay, yeah. Let’s go.”
You blink and you’re being lifted in the air. You squeal in Calum’s arms. He chuckles loudly at your antics. “Can’t have my best girl walking in a place she’s never been to. Come on, let me carry you.”
You just plugged in your phone by the time Calum exits the bathroom after showering. You hear his breath hitch when he enters the room. You scrunch your eyebrows. “What do I have something on my face? Oh my god, is there a spider?” Calum quickly shakes his head. “Then why’re you looking at my like that?”
“Like what?” he asks.
“I don’t know. You’re just - ugh,” you groan. “Like that!” You point to his face.
“(Y/N), I swear I have no idea what you’re talking about,” Calum quickly answers.
“Like, like all soft and puppy like. Do you wanna kiss me or somethin’?”
Calum chews on his cheek trying to muffle a laugh, but in his head, it’s going a mile a minute with all his thoughts processing. Do you know about his crush? Did someone tell you? Was it Ashton? No, was it Luke? Calum saw you with him after you used the restroom. Fuck. “Me? Want to kiss you? That’s gross. We’re friends for gods sake. Me wanting to kiss you that’s like, that’s like --”
You unleash a frustrated sigh when you heard ‘gross’ and ‘friends.’ You mutter to yourself, “Wish I could see you as the friend you see me as.”
Calum’s eyebrows furrow. He’s pretty sure he wasn’t supposed to hear that and he’s too nervous to say anything about it.
You get up from your spot and search for extra pillows and blankets. You announce, “I think I’m gonna sleep on the couch.”
Calum is confused. You two have done this before. Maybe not on a bed, but you’ve fallen asleep next to each other. You’ve woken in each other’s arms before and every time you do, it’s pure bliss, to wake up in the confines of someone’s warm embrace, to feel their heartbeat, to watch them gain clarity from a drowsy gaze, to see their sleepy smile. It’s a lovely thing to sleep beside someone.
Calum scurries when he sees you’ve finally found the blankets. He rushes, “Wait, don’t leave. I need to tell you something.”
Your eyebrows raise. “Really? Can’t it wait til tomorrow?”
He can tell you’re drawing a veil over yourself again. Whenever you get uncomfortable, you always pull a disappearing act. You get scared. You panic. Then you flee. That’s how it always goes, but he can’t have you vanish even the slightest when he’s this close, when he has hope that the feelings he has are being reciprocated. He knew that eventually he would answer to his feelings, but he didn’t expect it to come now. The call came too soon and it wasn’t him waiting. It was you on the line.
He rushes, “Yeah. It’s about that one person I told you about a couple months ago. I have updates.”
Calum pats the side of the bed, offering you a seat. Instead of sitting, you lean against the closed bedroom door in front of him. You’re too nervous that if you sit, you might not be able to stand after and free yourself from him. You need to put a distance. You need to put up your guard. You shrug your shoulders as a sign for him to continue with his story.
He licks his lips. His mind is working overdrive trying to say the right words. He can’t articulate things like this on the spot. He stares at the ground trying to formulate coherent sentences. “Um so yeah, they’re a good friend of mine.” You roll your eyes at him. You knew that already. “And they’re just so good to me, yknow? They always have my foods stocked up in their cupboard, which is really sweet. Um I held their hand a few weeks ago and they have really soft hands. Also, they gave me a spare to their place, so I stay over a lot. And god, they always fall asleep on me when I come over to theirs and it’s really refreshing waking up with someone just there, yknow? Like you know how we tend to fall asleep on the couch during movie nights? It’s like that. And god, it feels so great to like your best friend and know they like you back.”
That last line was a bit cheeky, but he can’t help himself when you’ve given him hope.
You, on the other hand, feel your body shut down. The happiness and joy exuded out of Calum and you couldn’t stand it. All hopes of kindling a romance with him is gone. It’s wrong of you to be jealous of Calum’s love life going well, while yours is clearly sinking. You fear that you could be getting replaced and left for nothing. You felt like you were in the ocean again, but this time you could look back. When your body pivoted in the water, you saw no one on the shore calling for you and that’s when you knew you were done for. It was a mistake, but you were already too deep. Your emotions and feelings were smothering you. The water became too chaotic for you to withstand and you’ve never been a good swimmer to begin with. Your chest is starting to hurt because you can’t breathe with all the water surging at you. You feel a tear leak from the corner of your eye but you pretend it didn’t fall in hopes that Calum didn’t see. You somehow muster enough air and fake a smile. “That’s great Calum! When do I get to meet the lucky person?”
Calum parades an awkward smile now. “That’s the funny part.” He scratches the back of his neck, still looking at the ground. “You kind of know them.”
Now you’re confused. You don’t remember meeting any new friends of Calum’s.
Calum gets up from his spot and grabs his phone. “Hear I’ll show you a picture of me and them together.”
Calum hands you his phone and you stare at his lockscreen.
Tears build in your eyes, but they aren’t strong enough withstand the storm in you so they begin to crumble and fall. You don’t know what to say. When you look up to Calum, he sends you a gentle smile. He wipes the loose tears, while his doe eyes shine brightly with the adoration he has for you.
“It’s you. It’s always been you.”
