Madhubala and Dilip Kumar (Mughal-e-Azam, Tarana, Sangdil, Mahal, Devdas)—Madhubala and Dilip Kumar had an IRL relationship for 8 years. Their irl love and chemistry made them one of the most beloved couples of 1950s cinema. Dilip was ready to marry her during the filming of Dhake ki Malmal in 1956 with the condition that she never saw her father again (he didn't approve of the relationship). She refused and they broke up soon after in 1957. The film Naya Daur starring Dilip Kumar and Vyjayanthimala was originally supposed to have Madhubala in it, her father refused to let her star in it despite her already having the contract, leading to a drawn out court case where Dilip testified against Madhubala. This spelled the end of their relationship and both of them married other people. Madhubala died in 1969 at only 36 years old. Despite their frosty breakup Dilip Kumar visited her one last time at her deathbed. Forever one of the most iconic couples of Indian cinema with a love story that still attracts a lot of speculation and is full of the romance and tragedy their films were known for.
Myrna Loy and William Powell (The Thin Man films)—i know they will have been submitted already but What If They Haven't Been!!!! the screen couple so hot together that people assumed they were married in real life! they match each others snark and dry deliveries SO well, theyre so married i still keep them tucked away in my mind as The Bar of established couples for movies. its also THEIR season rn new years is THE season for the thin man so a vote for loy-powell is a vote for love
This is round 4 of a mini tournament. Each poll lasts for a week. Please reblog with propaganda for your favorite hot couple. To vote in all the polls, click here.
[additional propaganda submitted under the cut]
Madhubala and Dilip Kumar:
Loy and Powell:
William Powell and Myrna Loy from The Thin Man series. Glamorous and witty, with the banter of a will they or won't they couple combined with the mischievous affection of the happily married. And they're detectives!
They're ridiculously in love with each other, genuinely enjoy spending time together, respect each other, and just look at them:
He's dapper! She's gorgeous! Asta is adorable! They're simply the best!
Nick & Nora Charles, my pre-Code LOVES. Wikipedia describes them in one line as a couple who enjoy “copious drinking and flirtatious banter,” and they’re right for that.
Myrna Loy and William Powell, their delight in each other on screen makes me deliriously happy every time I watch them. I’ll even watch the later Thin Man movies, even if they aren’t great, just for those two flirting and smirking knowingly at each other. Watching them as Nick and Nora, you just know those characters really enjoy being with each other more than anyone else.
They had sizzling chemistry, and their real life friendship meant that they actually enjoyed being around each other, and it showed on screen.
I know I'm probably not the only one suggesting them, but I HAVE to nominate my favorite on-screen duo: Myrna Loy and William Powell. The chemistry between them has rarely been equaled; they're like the fun, cool couple that's clearly in love without ever being obnoxious about it. I love all of their movies so much, but my favorites are the Thin Man Series, Libeled Lady, Love Crazy, and I Love You Again. Obviously, I'm not alone, seeing as they had 13 movies together. Also, them+Asta? True double income, no kids goals.
(I know other people will be saying this but One Must Be Sure). MYRNA LOY and WILLIAM POWELL. From The Thin Man (1934), After the Thin Man (1936), and all the other Thin Man movies etc. They're just so into each other in such an equitable way, they push each others buttons and tease each other while drinking like fishes and solving mysteries and it's REALLY HOT. They both always had a twinkle in their eyes and adorably wrinkled their noses at each other.
Myrna Loy and William Powell, who are both life goals and wife goals simultaneously. The ultimate gender envy couple.

I'm gonna nerd out about comic process for a second!
That screenshot was from about a month ago, when I was coloring the first two episodes of Into the Smoke chapter 2. My coloring process is a little unhinged. First, I set up palettes, do base shading, and color basic backgrounds kind of simultaneously across an entire scene. So I'm actively working on 4-6 600dpi files with 60-200 final layers at a time. I also usually have a few references open from previous episodes.
(My iMac has beefy specs, and I never have any lag or performance issues, but I'm probably still driving it into the ground, lol.)
I do this stage on a non-screen tablet because I like being able to see everything at a straight angle on a very nice screen. (Mac screens are nicer than Wacom screens.)
After that, I fire up the Cintiq and do the actual serious work of shading.
I do most character shading in ITS with Kyle's lasso fill in PS. Almost all my shading on all my pages is done with two grayscale swatches (incidentally, #c2c2c2 an #e0e0e0) with different layer effects, and I just hit x to toggle between the swatches. I'll sometimes use white or a pale color for highlights, but my shading work is much more extensive than my highlights, and the shading colors are handled with gradient maps.
Backgrounds, highlights/lighting, and most of my other projects outside ITS are painted with brushes instead of lasso-filled. In addition to organizing my brushes by category, I have brush folders for specific projects, and I organize them so I can use keyboard shortcuts to sequence through the ones I use the most.
The first two episodes of ITS chapter 2 were really difficult to color because I hadn't colored an episode in like 8 months, so I had to re-learn how to do it. My natural style is more painted, so I kept accidentally over-rendering. It really took me until episode 3 to get the hang of it again.
I'm also much more comfortable with warm color palettes and warm lighting, so the sorta grungy cool palette for the interrogation room was a challenge. I need to do more cool palette and cool lighting studies. Episode 3 is back to warm, though! :D
Anyway, here you can see the in-progress color vs the final color!
And a few warmer palette panels with more typical shading for good measure. :)

I will never not love post-KT megafauna, besides mammoths and sabertoothed cats they're entirely overshadowed by dinosaurs and their temporal kin, the public perception is effectively: unimportant bits>big bugs>unimportant bits>dinosaurs>unimportant bits>neandertals and mammoths> today there are a bunch of animals that near perfectly filled in the ecological gaps left by dinosaurs that they may as well have been straight up mammalian equivalents of the contenders for largest land mammals, the largest two are extinct, one being an elephant and the other being a reletive of rhinos that efectively became mamalian sauropods; similar build (minus the big tail), similar habitat, same diet, same technique to avoid predation of growing HUGE. the extent species left look perfectly average in size by comparison to those two giants
porcines grew to gingantic sizes, large enough to become scavengers wholly capable of bullying apex predators out of their kills much like how hyenas harrass lions, if they weren't also putting their massive jaw and neck muscles to use in actively hunting prey
Armodillos had an ancestor that grew large enough to become ankylosaur-like, complete with an armoured tail for defense
of couyrse we cannot forget that mammals were not the only ones having a blast during this time, reptiles and avians did not simple go quitly into that good night with the arrival of the Choxuclub impacter one of the largest crocadilians in history comes from after the dinosaurs
Australia was home to a bunch of really cool animals by virtue of its isolation from the rest of the world, such as a 7ft monitor lizerd
they also had some enormous marsupials, including 3 meter kangaroos and a 1 ton wombat
and we cannot forget that dinosaurs, despite commonly accepted wisdom, actually got on swimmingly down in South America hunting fast herding mammals equiivalent to horses and gazelles. You cannot convince me that these 8ft behemoths are not what would have happened to raptors and therapods in time had the impactor not struck
I would highly recomend looking into paleomedia of the post KT time periods, Walking With Beasts is dated but still holds up due to its high production quality for the time and use of animatronics in addition to early CGI, and the first three minutes of the pilot works really well to hook you in
youtube
The disappearance of most ice age megafauna left our biggest modern mammal groups looking so damn randomized and uneven, like theyre just visibly missing so much more context. Like they're just the teasers and there's supposed to be more coming soon.
Like ah yes there's the four big beasts.
Grey blob big ears big tusks tentacle nose
Grey blob sharp nose
Grey blob big mouth always wet
LSD hallucination thought this was a costume party

I just found out a Prince of Egypt Musical exists, and one of the addition songs— 'footprints on the sand'— really gives me Leona vibes
(Spotify link to the song)
https://open.spotify.com/track/40PqpFQdrylghRZgY36W8G?si=wATkespmQyar931PNnNc8A&context=spotify%3Aalbum%3A7MOGTYjo3ifwHDBf0EBE71
(Genius lyrics)
https://genius.com/Original-west-end-cast-of-the-prince-of-egypt-footprints-on-the-sand-lyrics
So since you're— at least in my view— one of the Leona experts, I was wondering what your thoughts would be on it!
Not that it fits perfectly; no song ever really fits 100%, after all. But I think it has strong Leona vibes
Leona VS The Weight of Insignificance
(Ahhh sorry I am just getting around to this.;-; BTW DFGHJK I’m flattered that you consider me a Leona expert??)
So this is pretty cool because I didn't realize there was a Prince of Egypt Musical? I’m a big fan of the animated movie and of musicals so I’ll have to listen to the rest someday!
So, I think in general the theme of “Footprints in The Sand” is about the idea of “trying to leave a mark” in life, but feeling like it won't matter in the long run and also exploring the insignificance that we all feel as people.
That being said, I can see why this song made you think of Leona! It brought up some feelings about what being second-born in a royal lineage means and how that can make someone feel insignificant just in concept. The spare heir if you will.
It's interesting because it also made me think about how Leona has such complicated feelings about his title too?
Like on the one hand, he feels like he's “forever in the shadow of Falena” but at the same time, I DO think a small part of him secretly enjoys the mobility of not having the reasonability of king and therefore the first few lines of the song before it fades into him sounding more melancholic made me think of this.
(AND ALSO since we’ve seen how he would handle being king in his Chapter 7 Dream OOF.) My thoughts on that: X
The second son– My father's wrong (THIS LINE TOO) It's got to be the easiest role on Earth Just play around Just play along Enjoy the bounty of my birth So what's today's amusement For this second son? Which one shall I choose from so many kinds of fun?
I think it leads back to the age-old conclusion about Leona’s character (that his dream really hammered home), is that being king is NOT what he truly wants and it more comes to feeling worthy as a person as if he has to “justify” his own existence of feeling useless. It’s more about the kind of attention he craves. To be useful, respected, adored.
The song mentions the fear of not leaving behind a legacy and feeling the weight of your own insignificance as a person. I can see how both the characters of Moses and Leona both struggle with “finding their purpose” and not being able to see their own worth like others who care about them do.
It made me think of the song (also in Prince of Egypt) “Through Heaven's Eyes” which I feel actually continues this theme. The idea that even if you can’t see your OWN value that everyone—has their own innate value as people—and that in itself is meaningful.
A single thread in a tapestry Though its color brightly shines Can never see its purpose In the pattern of the grand design And the stone that sits on the very top Of the mountains mighty face Does it think it's more important Than the stones that form the base?
For Leona—the people he acts as a mentor to like—Ruggie, Epel and Savanaclaw as a whole—have a pretty high opinion of him despite his flaws. And the fact that he can’t always see that and appreciate that value that he unconsciously and consciously brings to them reflects this. He has and will leave an impact even if it's not as “important” as a king. And he could do even more good if he actually tried to do so.
I think it’s a lesson we all struggle with TBH, the whole: seeing our inherent value as people and it’s def why I think Leona is a more relatable character than he first appears in twst. :3
Thank you for sharing with me though! I love finding stuff like this! I hope you have a wonderful day/night!💚

Submission message for Klance: howdy, would like to submit keith and lance from voltron (lmao)
Submission message for Bechloe: Beca and Chloe from Pitch Perfect (mainly Beca but Bechloe was the ship they baited the most)
Additional propaganda Klance: Now Keith and Lance on the other hand was a whole fucking mess that they then shoehorned in an hetero romance to try and "fix it" but by lord it was bad, everything about voltron is so fucking bad
Anyway this is my Klance propaganda : They were actually bait
Klance's queer baiting by the team was the worst!! We had to deal with NETFLIX ALSO GETTING IN ON THE QUEER BAITING!! If you searched up Kkance during the times for season 6-8, the SHOW WOULD POP UP. The directors would make jokes about it being canon, even Lance's VA got in the joke!
Their queer baiting was the worst for anyone who was even looking for an ounce of queer rep in that show. The only queer rep we got was a man who died after not even 5 minutes on screen, and shoehorned in the credit scene of a gay wedding of a character that was neither Keith nor Lance.
I do not know Agatha and Sophie, so I can't argue that klance was bigger bait or not, I just know voltron was mean lmao. the creators said stuff like "lance will be someone's first choice!" (meaning NOT ending up in a relationship with allura bc she very much chose another guy over him) and heavily implying he would be Keith's 1st choice (or a guy in general bc of point number 2). point number 2: they also released official art showing how super cool and diverse the main cast was! race! gender! LGBT - they had shiro (who was......canon gay but that's a whole other can of worms) and lance hold the sign with LGBT on it and then did absolutely nothing with that w lance at all (he hit on allura, so obvi he's not gay, but at least bi or smt) (UNLESS you count the scenes where he's flirty with keith). I just remember going into the last few seasons being like "klance probably won't be happen be honest with yourself there's like no queer kids shows!! but damn like it so could tho!!! because of how much it's been teased both in the show and by showrunners like I can't have no hope with the way the producers talk about it!" lmao I should have had no hope, but i genuinkey believed there was a possibility it could happen. and actually I discovered after the fact that i think one of the writers for the show who was the main advocate for klance (they had a lot of diff writers for eps, which led to lots of character butchering but ANYWAY) left not terribly long into the show I believe bc he didn't like the direction it was moving in and didn't want to be tied to the show anymore. so it's not like fans just made klance up either - it was written into earlier episodes with the hope and plan to continue developing later, and then just nothing ever happened with it besides INTENSE teasing it to keep queer fans around. esp after shiro's relationship was literally only a flashback and then his fiance thing or whatever got blown up before we even got to watch him interact w shiro as we knew him in present time in s7, so I think they kept being like hmmm klance and the stuff about lance being a first choice before s8 to keep ppl around. also esp bc klancers made up such a big portion of the fan base. then they made a horrible szn and ended it w a flashforward to shiro marrying some random background character who maybe had 1 line? I just remember hitting the flashforward and being like uhhhh who is this dude??? but they did that to hit those diversity points wow first gay marriage in a cartoon or smt idk it doesn't count to me really. so anyway voltron in general is queerbait lol but klance is because it started out as a legit possibility and then they said sike! but only maybe sike bc u guys are mad at us burying our guys in s7 so maybe klance could still happen haha okay now we're serious no it's not happening. anyway I think klance is p bad queerbait and a vote for them is a valid vote, not just u liking the ship.
Here is my really boring and incredibly dry argument for #KLANCESWEEP:
There are countless examples of the Voltron showrunners queerbaiting when it comes to Klance. I will leave that argument and discussion to others. Instead, I would like to focus on why/how I believe Klance is the more significant instance of queerbaiting, despite Johnlock's queerbaiting being markedly more famous.
Queerbaiting is when a shows teases/hints at a character(s) being queer, but then never actually follows through on making the character LGBTQ+. Queerbaiting is, above all, a marketing technique; the show dangles the possibility of a queer romance in order to "bait" a queer/ally audience into watching, and then continues to dangle or drag out the possibility of a same-sex romance in order to keep their audience hooked and continuously profited off. Queerbaiting takes advantage of peoples' hope and optimism, and that's why the betrayal stings so deeply once the queerbaiting is realized.
I argue that one of the major components of queerbaiting is that the show/writers must never explicitly confirm that there will NOT be queer romance. Queerbaiting is only sustained so long as the illusion of possibility persists.
Now, there are plenty of nuances to this.
If a showrunner comes out and explicitly states that there will be no queer representation in the show, this statement alone does not absolve the show of any queerbaiting it previously did. But, it DOES blur the lines for what can reasonably be defined as "actual" versus "willful" queerbaiting and subtext in the show going forward.
okay let me drop the pseudo-academic tone and just put it bluntly. what i'm trying to say is that, if a showrunner explicitly says "NO GAY ROMANCE," but the show's audience continues to insist and read for gay subtext anyway, and then the audience feels betrayed when the show ends with no queer romance --- at a certain point, wouldn't you argue that it's the fans that are actually baiting themselves, and not the show itself? this is what i mean by "willful" subtext.
As early as 2010 (this article/interview was posted the day of the first episode), the Sherlock showrunners explicitly stated that there would be no romantic relationship between Sherlock and Watson. Between 2010 and 2016, the showrunners repeatedly stated in multiple interviews that Johnlock would never happen.
I am 100% aware that I was drinking nothing but Kool-Aid while Voltron aired. I absolutely baited myself with desperate hope each season. But, in my weak defense, the flames of my Klance delusions were very much flamed by the promises made by the Voltron showrunners, who repeatedly floated the promise of queer representation in the show and spoke about Klance in the same breath. Klancers didn't bait themselves out of thin air; they desperately clung to the rope the Voltron writers threw us, and we were pulled in: hook, line, and sinker.
-
TLDR:
Queerbaiting involves willful deception and deliberate misinformation on the part of a showrunner/show.
If a showrunner encourages a queer ship, or makes vague promises of queer representation, then it reasonable for the show's audience to assume that a queer romance will happen. When a queer romance does not happen, this is clear-cut queerbaiting.
But if a showrunner explicitly states that a show will not have a major queer romance, then the show's audience should reasonably assume that the show will not have the queer ship they favor. If shippers continue to insist that their ship will come to fruition, and continue to pin their hopes on their ship, then the lines between who is actually baiting whom become very blurred.
Johnlock fans knew going into the show that John and Sherlock would never have an explicitly queer relationship. Fans continued to read for subtext, and maintained hope. The lines of queerbaiting become blurred, as it was not entirely clear if the show was actually baiting its shippers, or if fans were the ones baiting themselves.
In contrast, Klance fans were repeatedly encouraged by the showrunners, Netflix's marketing, and to some extent the VAs that Klance was possible (and that queer representation would firmly happen), and so Klance shippers were repeatedly strung along each season, up until the final season when Lance and Allura started dating and the Klance ship was torpedoed once and for all. (Do not talk to me about post-canon Klance, I am willfully defiant.) This is a firmly clear-cut case of queerbaiting.
In summary, Klance is the more textbook case of queerbaiting. It matches all the elements of queerbaiting: there was the willful deception by the showrunners, which encouraged Klance shippers specifically to hang onto the show, allowing Voltron to profit off its Klance audience. It's true that Klance shippers also continuously baited and deluded ourselves; but in our defense, we were following the example and promises set by the show itself.
Additional propaganda Bechloe: Ok for a little propaganda, since you may have forgotten pitch perfect, I want you all to know I first saw it as a 16-17 year old at gay youth group and can you imagine my fucking surprise and bafflement when they werent lesbians. Like basically thru the whole movie I was like “fun lesbian film nothing out of place just waiting for them to actually be gay” I know this was mostly the youth group organizers fault but I still think pitch perfect should have to answer for their crimes
I could talk so much about this but I want to point specifically to this promo for pitch perfect 3:
Bechloe - Pitch Perfect 3 Promo
Bechloe is REAL!
YouTube
and they then proceeded to give chloe an absolutely godawful love interest and like really overdid it (they also tried to give beca one too but anna kendrick was having NONE of that)
IIRC, Beca and Chloe were supposed to be lesbians but Universal vetoed it and made them give Beca a male love interest. Whether that changes things is up to you.
Even more Klance propaganda under the cut:
@klanced pretty well summarizes why Voltron was *more* queerbaity, but I think we should also consider what it means to be *worse.*
Make no mistake, the Sherlock team was.... for lack of a better term.... almost gaslight-y in their press, by disregarding the subtext that they themselves had written. But they were consistent. And their messages as showrunners did bear through, even as they were being cruel. Most importantly, Sherlock never needed the people they were baiting, so they could act aloof. That distance was horrible, but nothing like Voltron.
The relationship between Voltron and its fans was toxic, parasitic. Voltron couldn't have stayed around for that long without dragging its queer-baited audience behind it. It was a Netflix show, and those are always so close to the hangman's axe. It was the online fervor that sustained it.
And so, they had to appease the fans, pay the piper. But they had their own ideas for how the story would bear out, and each creator wanted something differently. In the end, they consistently used marketing tactics to imply something that could have been possible, if not for distinct creative voices that instead weakened the queer stories until they were watery piss.
Anyway, this was rambling. Vote Voltron for dangling queer alignment and ambiguity. Vote Voltron for pretending to be an ally. Vote Voltron for the stupid fucking LGBTQ banner that has Lance on it. Johnlock hurt, in a distant way, but Klance was worse.
I actually said this earlier on a different post, but I'll say it here too:
Its completely reasonable to think Klance was originally planned. Their interactions in the early seasons seemed a little too romantically coded to be something completely made up by fans. Thats why Klance was so popular, because it seemed all too possible.
However, when Dreamworks forced the creative team to change the story in order to keep Shiro alive instead of permanently killing him off like they originally planned, their entire story got fucked over. Seasons 3 and 4 were too far into production to stop and completely redo them, it would have been too expensive, even though it was the logical course of action. Instead, the producers had to make serious last minute changes to the story in order to keep Shiro in the picture. As a result, Shiro and Keith's switched places in the show, and Keith was almost completely written out of seasons 4-6 because Shiro was never supposed to be there. Any and all possible plans for any sort of development between Keith and Lance were thrown out the window because Keith wasn't there.
But as previously said, Voltron wouldn't have survived until the end without the rabid and feral online Klance fandom. The writing was very rapidly going to shit because there wasn't enough time to properly rewrite seasons 3 and 4 in order to meet Dreamworks' demands, and every season that followed suffered because of the decisions made for seasons 3 and 4. Everything was being improvised, and the storyboards for season 8 weren't finished until MARCH 2018 because of how behind schedule they were.
(I feel like the creative team don't get enough credit. Sure the show was a MASSIVE flop but their working conditions were less then ideal. Its impressive they got anything done on time due to the constantly changing ideas.)
The VLD producers knew that the Klance fandom was the only thing keeping the show alive, and continued to use Klance as bait until the very end. The VLD producers willingly enabled the notoriously toxic and violent Klance fandom with thumbnails and HotTopic merch, and allowed it to reach a point that the lives of their cast and crew were being threatenedby the rabid Klance fandom, just to get the ratings they needed to stay afloat.
THATS the disgusting part of all this. Whether Klance was originally planned as endgame or not, the producers used its popularity to keeping their already declining show running at the expense of the safety of their cast and crew.
I know next to nothing about BBC's Sherlock and Johnlock and whatever, but what the VLD producers did was sinister. Putting their creative team through both production and online HELL for some ratings, and it blew up in the most humiliating way possible. They did alllllll that, just to get one of the worst endings to an animated series of all time. Literally everyone hates them for what Voltron became, putting the lives of their creative team in danger was for nothing.
And obviously the producers can't completely blamed for the show's outcome, Dreamworks ruined their original plans. But continuing to use Klance as a marketing tactic while your fans are getting out of control and your creative team is being put in danger is just appalling. It was in their power to tell the Klance fandom Klance wasn't endgame, and that probably would have quelled the fire, but instead, with every season, they threw more and more gasoline into the dumpster fire.
So if you haven't already, vote Klance in this poll.
(I'm linking my source for all this info here. Its a video essay that I totally recommend watching. Super duper interesting.)

Would it be ok if someone did the whole pain sharing concept thing (I mean specifically akin to the flavor you've given it) with a completely different set of links?-
- sincerely a fan of the pain sharing au(and LU) who is currently making his own linkedverse
Hmmm
Short answer: I'd rather prefer you didn't
Long answer:
Even though the concept of pain sharing isn't like entirely mine, since there's other pieces of media that use it too, this specific au has been built almost as a collaboration with my followers
I don't really see it as entirely mine, since so many hcs and ideas have come from brainstorming with the lovely anons and fans of the au
Like the entire ravio addition + the lorule-hyrule soul bond literally came out of multiple anons chiming in and giving their ideas!
It's kinda a cooperative thing, so for you to take the au we've been crafting for so many months, with so many hcs and amazing ideas from so many people and use it for another set of links, feels a lil bit disrespectful to everyone involved? But idk maybe I'm looking too much into it and my followers don't care as much as I do 😅
Like I sincerely see it as a community effort since the reason why it is what it is, is thanks to everyone's input 😅 it's a group project at this point
Especially since you mentioned the "flavor I've given it" like, if you want to do your pain sharing au I'd rather you make an entire different twist to it with your own flavor! like idk maybe add in the wound sharing a lot of people were suggesting at the beginning!
Like that would be cool! Or add in full on feelings sharing, with the good and bad feelings added, etc.
If you want to explore another side of the pain sharing concept with completely different characters then I fully support it! But if it's exactly like mine then I'd rather you didn't 🙈
I do want to thank you for asking me though, that was very thoughtful of you! I really appreciate it!
#miry's ask box#I'm not mad btw! I'm just being honest like i encourage you to find a different way to explore the pain sharing concept#like my own au is based of a piece of media that uses pain sharing#but i changed it to the point the rules of the pain sharing of my au are different to the source i based it off#so i encourage u to do the same 😅 if not it feels as if i did all the homework and you're just copy pasting it without changing anything

Hi! Do you have any destiny!Revan thoughts you'd like to share?
(I do not know anything about Destiny) (I've looked at the wiki trying to figure out what a risen is, and it sounds like magic or something exists? Would that be the same thing as the Force AU-wise?)
my destiny revan au is something i cooked up with a friend and is maybe kind of wild even by destiny terms. my gdoc timeline for it is far from done and it's already at 3k words. i have at least two playlists for this au alone. it's bonkers. so i don't think it's a great litmus test for destiny lore to people who are just getting familiar with it.
so in destiny there are two para-causal fundamental forces that sort've fill the niche of magic/The Force and that's Light and Darkness. it's not like the force where it's like. two halves of the same coin or even branches of the same tree. they're separate and distinct forces that have a complex interaction with each other. in destiny, risen/lightbearers/guardians (people brought back to life as immortal* warriors with Light powers aka the player characters) mostly wield Light and sometimes Darkness (the latter being a very recent addition lore-wise) and while Light and Darkness themselves are very Force-like fundamental forces that shape the universe itself, the way that guardians interact with them is much more mage-like in a lot of respects with like. oh this guardian is a lightning type and this one is a fire type and such.
Now you don't have to be a Lightbearer to use the Light, nor Darkness (though iirc using darkness is easier for non-risen), but risen are the ones with all the cool attacks.
revan is none of those things. tbf their au was mostly based around the idea of them being very close the Warmind Rasputin and the two are totes besties forever who would kill god and break the universe for each other. rather than it being about 'fitting revan's storyline into destiny as best as possible' because that is. REALLY hard to do with revan in destiny it's mostly about revan and ras being platonic soulmates, aka what if revan had a best friend and the two didn't cannibalize each other. what if revan went to war and no one held them back. what if the one thing revan felt betrayed them (the traveler) ended up kind of making it up to them.
so revan is uh. well. -looks at my notes- the hidden first speaker who survived after the collapse, had a brief internship as a disciple of the witness before they fucked it up and got stuck in the black garden for like. at least half a millennia and unmade into a god before finally breaking out in like. season of the undying (garden of salvation raid.) and yeah like none of those words make sense if you dont know destiny but that's the only way i can summarize it without writing another massive text block. anyway here's the title of my gdoc for this shit i've cooked up:
by the way i have played 0 hours of this game
#they're much more logistically-focused than like. direct combat. in this au.#they would be a fucking fantastic npc in d2 man#this got long and rambly#i highkey debate if i wanna write like. general oneshot fics about it#or like. a Lore Book like marasenna#love the destiny lore books soooo much#rené.txt#i hope this was helpful i have thought abt this au for god. at least a year? im scared 2 check when this started IT'S BEEN A WHILE#luv destiny lore it's absolutely bananas

ur additions made this so much better omg
i actually have mad woman for wanda and peter for peter in a folder for edits and am so glad someone sees the vision. like, especially with wanda cuz she was pushed until her breaking point and whenever anything goes well for her, it messes up. id probably go crazy too.
and castles crumbling for thor is SO perfect. he was the golden boy since birth and besides his slump in the first thor movie, hes generally seen as this pillar of strength and overall goodness. and then we see him in endgame, and he’s messed up. castles crumbling fits that so well (and ur so right they have a pattern of ignoring pieces that are too deep *cough* bruce banner having tried to kill himself being mentioned a total of one time *cough*
might i also add:
who’s afraid of little old me? for peter parker. he was so sweet in civil war, all obsessed and awe-struck by the world around him. and then you get to nwh and he’s seen what being spider-man really is, and he knows what he can do. also!
clara bow for peter parker: can you imagine being spider-man after iron man’s death? especially when your suit is LITERALLY the iron spider? spider-man is going to have to spend the rest of his life being compared to the man he saw die. additionally, the whole aspect of thinking being a super hero would be cool until he’s there, and he’s met all the avengers, and it sucks.
long story short for clint. “i tried to pick my battles til the battle picked me.” he wanted a normal life with his family, but after infinity war he knew he couldn’t sit around any longer, so he went rogue. then, endgame happened and he needed his family back, so he had to fight with the avengers again. and then “long story short, it was a bad time. long story short, i survived.” like, self explanatory but its basically endgame to the hawkeye show. he was in such a deep depression to begin, and then the last time we see him, he’s happy with the people he cares about and he really did make it out.
so long, london for tony stark: i think for this london refers to the avengers. specifically the lines “you say i abandoned the ship but i was going down with it.” to start: “you say i abandoned the ship” this could refer to anything from steve and tony’s argument in avengers 2012 to civil war, but id say it better works with civil war since that would suit the abandonment line. then, “i was going down with it” talks about his dying for the entire universe, and thats what the avengers stood for.
innocent for yelena belova: when we first see her, yelena is six years old and playing in her backyard. the next, she’s killing people.
bonus: nobody’s soldier by hozier is SO steve rogers
marvel characters as taylor swift songs but i take no critiques
tony stark:
stephen strange:
clint barton:
bucky barnes:
natasha romanoff:
peter parker (andrew)
peter parker (tom)
yelena belova:
pepper potts:
loki:

I remember watching Riders of Berk for the first time and when Heather showed up I was absolutely convinced I was going to hate her
And then by the time I finished Race to the Edge I absolutely loved her so much 😭
#i was so convinced she was going to be part of a contrived love triangle between her and hiccstrid and im SO GLAD she wasn't#like there were a few red herrings to scare Astrid but i never actually believed they liked each other like that#hiccup's cool but he's not cool enough for her AJSVXBZNAMAAJDBDJAJ#she deserves better than a love triangle#she ended up being a really great character all by herself by being some cool lone warrior who helped out sometimes#and had a crush on Fishlegs which was really cute#and her being the sister of dagur was just a really great addition because their personalities clash in the best way#idk man i just really like Heather#httyd#how to train your dragon#rtte#race to edge#rtte heather#heather the unhinged#she's not even unhinged LMAO 😭 she just thought dagur's moniker was quite fashionable

been thinking about how people headcanon the heroes of yore for a long while, and figured i could try running a poll!!
i might run another poll later about whether folks think they are predominantly OCs vs predominantly canon characters, but for now; what species are they, to you?
#okay to reblog for larger polling range if you like!#just really curious about this! i see a really wide variety of headcanons for them in the community which is really cool!#feel free to add your additional thoughts in tags too if you want!#kirby#heroes of yore

another day grinding nixtamalli in scenic tenochtitlan. and also my terrible nephew is here and as usual he is not helping.
#em draws stuff#oc time again hehe#⚬⚬⚬⚬⚬𐂂#once again it is my cringe teen son 5deer and also his cool aunt who exists now.#ideally I would render everyone's name in the same format for this story but for my sins there is no suitable unicode I like for some of#these characters' day signs. so 5deer will continue being referred to with 5deer or ⚬⚬⚬⚬⚬𐂂 and I will write out an approximation for the#additional characters. thus aunt here has the day sign 6 grass but will be referred to as malinalli#and the other girl from the sketchpage I did earlier is day sign 12 rabbit -> tochtli#if I was to apply this to 5deer himself he'd be just mazatl (ie. 'deer' without the 5) but eh whatever#o also. every time I draw 5deer he really wants to be smoking a cigarette but unfortunately they have not been invented yet.#alas for him. he needs something to do while he loiters about unhelpfully.#background's from the codex mendoza because I did not feel like drawing one wheeeeeeee

REBLOGGING FOR THIS WONDERFUL ADDITION
#you're absolutely right. personally i voted for the fourth option but this explanation makes a lot of sense#i also feel like maybe i would be more forgiving if there was more to do outside of membership#like you can decorate houses and play minigames and train pets and fish n stuff but thats like very limited#granted i havent played since mirage so idk if events like beastmoon is ftp or not#also i think most seasonal events are free for everyone too#IDK i just feel like if you can charge 50 dollars for all the bundles you release you can stand to remove to paywall altogether BUT THATS#JUST MY OPINIONA#i really like this addition this is really cool#wizard101#wiz101#w101#reblogs

#gross. gross! i do not like this thing. two alternate angles under the cut for those of you who like this thing because i am about to tear#into it so hard. ahem#enamorus#this thing is ugly as fuck. all of the genies were already ugly as fuck and now this thing only makes that worse. all of their therian form#were like MILDLY better but this one takes that trend and just throws it out the window#like the anteater nose is FUNNY especially on a legendary but LORD DON'T MAKE ME LOOK AT IT#not to mention its boss fight taking place in the fucking SWAMP with all the SLOWY WATER#and it just ZOOMS AROUND AND TELEPORTS if i remember correctly#like the LAST fuckin pokémon in the pokédex you can catch and it looks like THIS??? why did we need another genie. what#i understand the trend in gen 8 where they kept adding new legendaries to already established like. groups. like regieleki and regidrago#but THIS group is one that DID NOT NEED ONE#like i can see the additions to the regis!!! they're cool additions and really modernize the trio into a quintet!! but this is just RIDICUL#sorry tumblr cut me off there. this is just RIDICULOUS#ooouuhhhuhuhuh all the other genies are buff men with beards but this one's a laaaady bc it's pink!! and fairy-type!!! and small!! a#NO!!!! STOP!!!!!!!!! WE DON'T NEED IT!!!!!! PUT THAT THING BACK WHERE IT CAME FROM OR SO HELP ME!!!!#it's literally like. the last pokémon in gen 9. i'm gonna have to start worrying about gen 9 models RIGHT after this#teechnically. i'm actually queuing this thing up before i'm done with all the hisuian forms so i have a bit of time#but it'll Look like it comes last in the queue right before gen 9#here's praying i have something figured out by then? but i doubt it because i've just started a new job#and that's probably gonna be taking a lot of my time until then

Okay I'm done with Natlan and Citlali's quest
My opinion on Citlali improved slightly, but the rest... Ehhh... No. I'm not gonna say that Natlan was bad, cause ngl for me the most boring archon quest was Sumeru. (And I'm saying it because of the fact that the dream loop was ridiculous and I hated it just as much as I hate Nahida which is a ToN)
Spolier rant in tags
#they build up so much climax for it to just be... not engaging at all#although I do like that you had additional scenes if you did story quests!#but it's just like... the whole 'omg everyone is hyping up mc' has been done SO MANY TIMES across all the games it's so run down and BorinG#I much more liked it when everyone wasn't swooning over the traveler#when we could actually interact with antagonists/villains#and not have it be some entity and collection of monsters that randomly spawn#i miss when traveler wasn't getting everything on a silver platter cause of their reputation#like when literally everywhere we had to FIGHT for everyone's respect#and I'm shadowposting rn idc#someone on twt said something like 'clearly you haven't read Liyue and Mond in a while if you think that was any better than Natlan 🤓' and#let me say rn: I think that Natlan story is better than Sumeru- but that doesn't mean it was any good because I didn't like Sumeru story#Natlan dialogue was just filled with npc like souless dialogue. Either with character pampering the traveler#saying some 'deep thoughts' or having 'random xD' moments#hands down- if they didn't shut up Ajaw it'd be more fun. Ajaw is slaying and bitch is acting like a 4th grader#and still has more personality than everyone in the room combined#and if Citlali's drinking problem wasn't written off as a joke- I'd probably love her character more#and I'm not saying it because it's a cool thing to say to hate on a new thing. but I'm saying it because it's getting more and more bland#i really wanted to like natlan but it just didn't stick for me
