A little rant regarding Leaf in Pokemon Masters
I honestly really hate it when people try to use the metronome event to debunk the idea that Leaf getting a clefable as her lodge pair proves that her and Green are the same character.
Like first of all, the Metronome Event was a one off event that involved RENTAL Pokemon, which heavily implies that the trainers involved would've kept the mons involved TEMPORARILY. So really, given the nature of all those togepis and clefairies being one off partners, do you really think that any of the trainers would've kept any of them permanently, including Leaf?
And also, what Leaf says during the event with her April fools clefairy doesn't necessarily imply that she didn't have one at that point. She only gushes over the clefairy (as she does with any cute pokemon) and then states how she used to travel all over Mt Moon hoping to find (and presumably catch) the species.
If anything, from my observation it just seems like she's just reminiscing how much effort she put into finding the clefairy/Clefable that she already has, as a way to express her love for the species, not to say that she didn't have one at all up until the event. If that's what her line of dialogue was trying to imply instead, the writers would've made her say "I'm so glad that I finally have one!" But they didn't.
I know clefairy is a somewhat rare pokemon but it isn't THAT rare that it's possible that Leaf went through all of Mt Moon without even encountering one. I remember encountering and catching clefairy at Mt Moon without even trying during my playthroughs of FRLG.
And this is exactly why I don't think this counterargument works and is basically just mental gymnastics done by Leaf ≠ Green people to deny the fact that Leaf's lodge pair being a Clefable proves that her and Green are the same, as so far the lodge pairs have been consistent with what mons the characters have in the mainline games. There I said it.

I would really like to know more about your pmd oc's. Tell me as much about them as you want (if you want to of course). I'd love to hear everything about them.
Ooh thanks a ton for the very open-ended ask! Sadly, most of the ones I have have a greater story behind them that I don't really mind spoiling, but I can at the very least give you some from the archives of [admittedly mostly abandoned] works, including one I'm hoping to get the prologue out sometime this month!
The Other Side [Gti-inspired sort-of-sequel]
Only really one character I want to show off from this one- Ryei [pronounced Re-ay] the Snover, a human-turned-pokemon in a world that now seems to have been almost rewritten to think of humans being reincarnated as a curse, and finds himself now having to balance three things: Finding out the truth of what happened to change the perception of humans so drastically, Joining a Pikachu named Kishi in her exploration team, and the part where he's switching bodies with a Noibat named Daisukei every night, who seems to have been taken in by Outlaws who are really just looking to survive more than anything.
I liked the idea of it, but I couldn't figure out how to format it- how to decide who the perspective would be, the pacing, all that stuff- so it's basically been abandoned. I'll likely continue it if I'm ever hit with a double lightning strike of ideas or something, but for now I won't be working on it.
Curse of a Martyr [EoS AU]
A fairly simple explorers AU I concocted when board on the cruise I posted a few images of, but ended up abandoning because it wasn't that interesting, so here are essentially the culmination of what I had imagined for the [main three] characters:
Shomoto the Treecko - He's just your average Explorers hero treecko, with the one difference being the fact that he hits like a truck [i.e. a level 40], despite apparently still being level 5, and the fact he isn't even sure if he's a human.
Eifos the Zorua - Yeah, just about a normal Explorers partner, except with the insecurities cranked up a few levels thanks to Shomoto's sheer power, and also without Team Skull's harassment [they're scared of Shomoto's sheer stats]
Yuki the human - You know, most Pokemon recognize tales of humans arriving in the form of pokemon to assist with a disaster, not humans arriving on their own to cause a disaster.
Honestly, the only other thing I had settled aside from these characters was a scene during the lake guardians arc in which well... Let's just say a pokeball is involved, Shomoto gets in the way, and the level gap becomes far too apparent.
All to Nothing - A [Mostly] original actual project
This is the only of these with any active work being done, although currently being only halfway ready to release the prologue to the public- so I'll just give a few [admittedly summarized] character bios:
Aster the Ivysaur - Waking up to find herself in a cruel 'game' where the punishment for failure is death, and she has to place her faith in a partner she's never met before... And what's more, the memories she has are all faded at best, and the question of who she is would be one she might never find the answer to... if she doesn't take a risk, and fast.
Chera the Clefairy - When he finds himself thrown into a game meant to test the contetsants in an unknown aspect with memories that don't quite fit together... Including the fact they might have been a human in a past life. And yet, for some reason he can't quite recall... he knows he should never tell anyone that again. ...Or was it something else he shouldn't have said...?
Aside from that there aren't any characters I can A. write good descriptions for, or B. write descriptions with minimal spoilers in them.
But uh that's kind of it for OCs I can show? Sorry if it isn't exactly what you were looking for- the main set I have, I'm already doing lore posts for [the first of which you might have seen- it's here if you haven't], and I don't really want to double dip, and I don't think I'm great at talking about my own stories without spoiling them- I hope this slight middle ground is acceptable to you.

JOURNAL 14. LOCATION: GOLDENROD CITY
<<It feels like it's been FOREVER since I've written in here--sorry!! I have a great excuse though...I got the Plain Badge from Whitney yesterday! Honestly, I'm still TOTALLY buzzing about it...let me catch you up!!
First of all, before all that Badge stuff, I can't even begin to tell you how much training we did in advance! I read somewhere that most aspiring trainers tap out at two badges because Whitney's just that good!! I remember watching some exhibition matches on the TV growing up while Whitney was still just a student--and her Miltank would just roll everybody over! I was not about to let that happen. And my team wasn't about to let that happen either--seriously, Minerva made sure to put EVERYONE through their paces. She was built to WIN and was definitely not messing around!!
Because of all that training, Pink evolved into a Clefairy!! He's still a bit shy and still loves to bury himself in Lumi's wool, but--with the help of my growing TM collection!--he can totally hold his own in fights now. I'm SUPER proud of him, and I know the others are too!
Whitney's gym had a great atmosphere, and the other trainers were SO welcoming and sweet! Whitney is fun too, but--when we were battling--she DIALED IN. All the rumors about her Miltank were true, and--even paralyzed--it managed to roll over most of my team. Honestly, I though I was out of Pokemon...but then, I saw it.
Pink's ball. My last hope.
And then?? Pink just...sidestepped Miltank's Rollout attack and popped it with a critical hit Dizzy Punch to faint it! I'm not even joking with you right now--how storybook is that? For my Clefairy to beat Whitney's ace in the Clefairy-shaped Gym? You should've seen Pink with the rest of the 'mons last night, with his little chest puffed up with pride as they all talked about the fight. Adorable...
Oh! After the fight, Whitney...ummm, cried. A lot. I totally get the pain of losing and I didn't really have anywhere to be, so we hugged it out until she felt well enough to give me the Plain Badge. Then, me and all her Gym trainers went out to eat at some fancy spot next to the Dept. Store!! I learned so much--like, did you know that Whitney's a certified Miltank rancher while off the clock in the Gym? Well, now you do! Her family owns a stead waaaaay over in Olivine.
(Whitney, the trainers, and I all swapped numbers in the Pokegear. When I get to Ecruteak, we're all going to see a dance show together--so that should be awesome!!)
All in all, I feel like I needed this win...and I've NEVER been prouder of my team. I'm about to head over to the florist shop to buy them us all some tasty berries! And then...we'll be on our way to Ecruteak City!!>>

"karnilla74: What did they do with Lusamine?? Is it as bad as USUM?"
I'm glad you asked! See, as a coherent character, she's fine. I can at least fully understand what is going on with her and why. But as Lusamine? The anime is probably my least favorite iteration of her.
The problem with USUM was that it wanted to pivot, literally between scenes, from standard Lusamine to "Wait no she's doing this for well-intentioned reasons!" We literally get back to back scenes of "If you won't do as I say, then I have no children" to "I was doing all of this to protect this world and my children." The problem was the writers not caring to make coherent sense of her character, and backing out of engagement with what she was doing entirely. Which, to put it mildly, sucks.
As mentioned, the anime is coherent. Lusamine's character and motivations are clear, if watered down. They're playing very strongly to the Good Lusamine approach of USUM, but are going about it in a way that works for what they want. Lusamine is, in this iteration, much tamer. The big conflict is very...boring, stock standard, high profile job parent works too much and the kid is sad about it, mixed with a bit of "she's always treating me like a kid." So you get the sense of okay, there's tension with the family, but this is piss-easy to resolve. We get a couple notes showing she's fairly selfish and doesn't always consider other people, but framed as more...childish than cruel. "I liked it as Clefairy, and you evolved it when I wasn't home!" "Yeah, but it's cuter as Clefable and I was the one raising it." That kind of thing. Gladion tried to bitch her out about wanting to see an Ultra Beast, in spite of one being the cause of Lillie's trauma, but like...Gladion, I know you're like 13 and filled with angst, but there is a difference between "I would like to see this thing we've been studying in person" and "I am ignoring the trauma my child went through because of it." She's not suggesting showing it to Lillie. She just wants to see it. You're being dramatic.
But by now I hope the problem is obvious. This...isn't Lusamine.
Say what you will about USUM fucking up. I certainly do. But at least its presentation of Lusamine is still the bad bitch who runs the world. The anime tries to present a Lusamine who is completely ignorant of everything going on, who has no direct research experience of her own and relies on Burnet to study the beasts, is playful and childish and has like zero control over anyone, instead pleading with her kids to listen to her and when Faba steps out of line effectively just going "Faba, come on, stop." There's none of the poise, the confidence, the control that Lusamine is known for. It's like the only way they could think to really present her as not being evil was to make her infantile. The anime is of course no stranger to presenting a character as completely different from their counterparts in the games, but this is the first one that comes across as completely wrong.

Since you said any AUs... what about a 'nothing bad happens' Pokemon AU? I'm unsure if you did one of these already. People don't die/murdered, sure there might not be 'perfect' lives (Like Zenitsu still being an orphan/adopted, Inosuke growing up in the wild, etc) but Tanjiro and Ayame do still have their families. Still in the same professions, but their families want them to be happy and go on a ~adventure~ Cue Pokemon shenanigans, meet the Gym leaders(hashiras), and fight evil organizations(demons).
A sadder one... Tokyo Ghoul AU. Who would be a ghoul, is someone a 'half-ghoul'? Are they all human... or is someone lying?
;3c
a pokemon au!!!!! much like anyone my age, i too have had my pokemon phase. that being said, the only pokemon game i ever played extensively was pokemon red, and i haven't watched a pokemon episode in over a decade. so...... the pokemon i assign everyone will most likely be first gen. bc that's who i am as a person.
Pokemon!AU
- i love the idea that ayame and tanjirou still remain as blacksmith and charcoal burner ngl
- u would expect both kids to choose charmander as their starter pokemon but nope! well, tanjirou does end up with a charmander, but ayame surprisingly chooses a squirtle
- or maybe not so surprising. akihiko had chosen the same.
- but ayame finds a vulpix all alone not far from okutama and ends up catching it. she has both of them out of their pokeballs, so she kinda has two companions that accompany her on the journey
- do gym leaders take apprentices? probably not, but ayame ends up taking a shine to kyoujurou anyway and he has a ninetales, so he helps her with training her vulpix a lot. she jokingly calls him shishou at first, but then it kinda stuck
- ayame and tanjirou set off on their journey at different times but end up meeting in asakusa anyway
- i can totally see zenitsu with a pikachu, but like ash's where they don't really get along at first. eventually their relationship kinda evolves into a "i'm the only one allowed to bully them" kind of thing.
- yes, zenitsu has an all electric team. his adoptive grandfather is a former gym leader after all!
- does nezuko end up joining tanjirou on his journey? yeah sure why not. she loves fighting pokemon, although her starter pokemon is actually a poliwag. keep working hard with ur poliwag, nezuko-chan!
- much like nezuko, inosuke also prefers fighting pokemon, although his best friend is actually a cubone that he didn't fight. they just found each other in the mountains and decided to stick together. i guess because they both have masks????
- tanjirou... hm. it's hard to say what his team configuration is. there is, of course, charmander. but he also has a dratini, a pidgeotto that he evolved from a pidgey, and a growlithe. he caught an eevee in asakusa with ayame and his evolved into a vaporeon
- ayame's evolved into a flareon. she loves her flareon, but she was kinda hoping for a vaporeon too... not that she would ever admit it outloud.
- ayame's team configuration is very obviously water/fire. she wanted it to be more water, but fire pokemon are drawn to her. tanjirou always jokes it's because she's a blacksmith's daughter. she has a seel, a vulpix, a squirtle, and a ponyta. the only pokemon she has that comes as a total surprise is her gastly.
- kanao has a clefairy!!! and also an oddish that kanae helped her find. i can see her team configuration as a fairy/poison type.
- genya...... genya and a mankey. his mankey is the sweetest mankey ever and it's even funnier when genya has resting bitch face. he also has a slowpoke and a staryu, and it was both those pokemon that caught ayame's attention when they met
- who would be team rocket for these kids????? like... i know akaza and douma for sure. oh i guess that would fit. maybe they're just obsessed with tanyame's eevees turned flareon/vaporeon
Tokyo Ghoul!AU
- fjwndkwnwowk how did u know i was obsessed with tokyo ghoul once upon a time???? kaneki ken one of my og fave charas.........
- i can see nezuko as a man-made half ghoul the way kaneki was turned, which still leads to tanjirou being very concerned and overprotective of her
- the higuchis... ghouls. yeah. akihiko joins aogiri tree and ayame has her loyalties with anteiku. obviously their parents die at the hands of the ccg and it's all very tragic. she has four younger siblings to look after and it's very stressful for her
- ayame and tanjirou used to be neighbours, until her parents were killed and she was moved with her siblings under the protection of anteiku
- that being said, i guess the rengokus would be ghouls too, bc of course kyoujurou needs to look after ayame. and hey!!!! free younger sisters!!!!!! (that's not how it works, kyoujurou - )
- it does mean that tanjirou has to work very hard with the ccg, bc it's the only way he can keep up with his half ghoul sister and his full ghoul kinda childhood friend
- maybe there's some sort of trainee program for ccg hopefuls and that's where he meets zenitsu and inosuke
- inosuke... could be half ghoul ig. but like the way the quinx squad are half ghouls
- (i'm very behind on tokyo ghoul: re i'm sorry)
- i think most of the hashiras would be ghouls actually. the only exceptions would be sanemi and obanai
- genya is also a half ghoul though, but bc of experimentation bullshit that killed the rest of his siblings. that just means that sanemi is even more protective of genya - almost like a guard dog
- listen i could go on forever abt a tokyo ghoul au u have no idea
- anyway! kagune! the higuchis are ukaku-types, while nezuko has a bikaku type. inosuke is koukaku-type, and he can make two jagged blades from his forearms - they're shorter than most that will fully wrap around the arm, but that also means he can move faster because of it.
- the kochou sisters are rinkaku-types, although kanao's is actually an ukaku-type like the higuchis. the rengokus are bikaku-types, although their ideal form - so to speak - is a nine-tailed form (i'm pushing the rengoku nine-tails agenda idc). himejima is koukaku-type, same as genya, which is why genya trains with himejima almost exclusively. muichirou is rinkaku-type as well, same as giyuu. they work terribly together though. it's mostly personality incompatibility issues. tengen is ukaku-type, which means ayame also trains with him a lot - and neither of them are happy about it. mitsuri is a koukaku-type! and bc of her muscle density, she's also faster than most koukaku-types (obanai thinks that's so cool of her)
- i can see the idiots squad coming together c of a rogue ghoul that's making it seem like the attacks are from anteiku. very very dangerous for her sisters, and tanjirou just ends up coming along bc nezuko insists that they help her. also bc that's kinda his first case in the ccg training program, so zenitsu and inosuke stumble along the investigation as well.
- okay i have to stop now or i will end up writing a whole fic about this and now i want to aaaahhhh
- wait does this mean the twelve kizuki and muzan are actually the ccg...?
- (wait what if the ccg training program gives them quinques and tanjirou's somehow ends up with hanabi's.........)

Pokémon Crossover AU
Been working on some Pokémon crossover AU ideas for all my stories lately, mostly starting out as just team ideas for my characters before I thought about how they would fit into the world of Pokémon. Since my novel characters here are from a more fantasy/royalty setting, this was an especially fun and interesting challenge trying to rework them into a more “modern” setting. I have always low-key wanted to imagine a “modern AU” for my novel characters, and after making this AU for them I might actually consider doing it sometime(even if I don’t do much with it).
One detail about this AU(that I don’t get into much below) to mention is just like in their original story, I imagine they would all be from different regions in the world. The only one I have figured out is Brooke being from Paldea, just because it is based off of the Iberian Peninsula and Brooke is Spanish, so it was the most fitting for him. Other than him, I still need to figure out where the others would be from.
But yeah, I hope you enjoy! :3
=============================================================
- Nate
Tumblr media
. Works primarily with fire types and Pokémon that are seen as "powerhouses"
. On his team he has Ho-Oh, Blaziken, Incineroar, Charizard, Coalossal, and Magmortar
. Coming from a long legacy of masters and champions, Nate is working his way to becoming one himself
. After first setting off on his journey he meets Brooke, promptly becoming rivals with him after their battle
- Tia
Tumblr media
. Works primarily with fire types and focuses on having a strong relationship with her Pokémon rather than having super "strong" ones
. On her team she has Honedge, Victini, Litwick, Fennekin, Armarouge, and Talonflame
. When she comes of age she sets off to become a master herself, to prove all her doubters wrong(who did not want her to participate in battles)
. Originally sets off by herself, before eventually teaming up with her brother to travel together
- Maya
Tumblr media
. Works with a few different types but mainly prefers fairy and flying
. On her team she has Clefairy, Azumarill, Togekiss, Buneary, Vivillon, and Comfey
. Comes from a famous family consisting of coordinators and performers, with her having a specific focus on dance
. Doesn't have any super big aspirations beyond that, but she does support her older sister in her goals
- Brooke
Tumblr media
. Works primarily with water types and prefers more "scary" Pokémon(not wanting to focus soley on 'cuter' ones)
. On his team he has Sharpedo, Poliwrath, Quaquaval, Gyarados, Veluza, and Barraskewda
. From Paldea, his family(mostly just his mother, as his father doesn't care either way) has been mostly against battling, instead focusing more on 'higher' pursuits for humans
. He never wanted to hide his interest in Pokémon and battling, so when he became of age he did all he could to convince his mother to let him go out and travel the world, promptly becoming rivals with Nate after first meeting and battling him at the beginning of his journey(but doesn't take their rivalry all that seriously)
- Gaia
Tumblr media
. Works primarily with grass types and likes working with both "scary" and "cute" Pokémon
. On her team she has Tangrowth, Torterra, Victreebel, Meganium, Carnivine(nicknamed "Audrey"), and Arboliva
. Her family has always had professions that focus on helping trainers foster good relationships with their Pokémon, with Gaia setting out to travel and meet as many as possible(as she has always been a curious and adventurous person)
. She's not really focused on becoming a top trainer or champion or anything like that, but she does take an interest in becoming a researcher as she would like to learn more about the world

hey, time to get into this social media thing.
<<blog rules here>>
I'm Ethan, and I'm at naranja academy as an exchange program + to do the gym circuit, but I'm kalosian.
I truly love fairy types, and how dazzling they look in battle. My dream is to become a gym leader, and I'm training my hardest to get it to come true.
My other main hobbies aside from pokémon are apriball collecting, cooking and (trying to succeed at) playing the otamatone. Also embarassing myself on the internet, at this point.
I post about my partner a lot. I also post about my amateur battling and overall stuff that happens in my life.
My team consists of:
Coconut Milk, a Mister Mime I raised since it hatched as a Mime Jr, and where my love for apriballs stems from, since his mother was in a dream ball and therefore so was he. He's very mild tempered and sweet, surprisingly, except for the fact he wasn't socialised very well and tends to use barrier when he's shy about new people. He knows how to juggle, too, and I think that's very cool.
Peekaboo, my Mimikyu, which my aunt from alola brought me as a christmas gift because, to quote her, "it's a.. . Fairy?". I have no idea how you find the sex of a mimikyu so it's an it for now. It's an absolute rascal, who enjoys knocking over glasses from table edges, hiding things under its disguise damn well knowing I can't look under there and shadow sneaking behind people. It's an asshat but I still love it.
Sneeze the Aromatisse, very creatively named after what happened when I caught it. I take allergy meds now. It got inside my school, so I panicked and threw a pokéball at it. Great companion, sleeps on my bed with me, makes the house smell nice, leaves feathers(?) everywhere though. Really likes flan even though she isn't supposed to eat it.
Meanwhile the Mawile, adopted it from the shelter on my last birthday, chews on things he shouldn't chew on, also sleeps on my bed, very competitive. It's steel type so I had to keep it away from my other precious fairies until I knew it wouldn't try anything, but I'm glad I could give it a home and train it, since its competitive spirit is worth more than any "viability" when it comes to battle, and his teammates find him great support.
My clefairy and 5th member, Puzzle, whom I hatched from a cleffa egg (i got it ethically-ish shush), is very feisty. It likes to help everyone else in battles, although when it doesn't play support it and Cheesestick are battle partners. Very attention seeking, loves hugs.
6th, Cheesestick. Chaotic good of cottonees, got it from a trade (there was a wretched dragon pokémon I happened to catch, cheesestick was what I traded it for), most recent acquisition. Likes status moves and floating away to the rest of the team's mass panic. Takes a lot of naps. Puzzle's battle partner.
new seventh? Violence-Strawberrie the Tinkatink. Will add more about her as I find out but she is so littol and babie
Do not follow me if you think mister mime is 'creepy/gross' or if you believe fairy types are 'weak'/'girl pokémon' (/ic, actually please start rp drama with me)
Thank you for reading my introduction, and I hope to see you around.

Day 3 of My Pokémon Yellow Nuzlocke Challenge!
Today will be a bit shorter than others since I do the church thing and then use Sunday as a calm, lazy napping day. Still, I can see where the day gets me.
First up will be finishing up these trainers and then getting my encounter for the route.
Route 3 Encounter—Spearow/AngryBoi
Hp: 30
Attack: 18
Defense: 12
Speed: 22
Special: 13
You know, that’s not a bad Pokémon to have. Actually, in Gen 1 games, Spearow has better moves overall than the moves the Pidgey line gets. At least in the early game. And having another flying type for a while will be useful.
And now I’ve made it to the Pokémon Center just outside Mt. Moon. Here I have a conundrum. You see, inside the Pokémon Center is a man who offers to sell you a Magikarp. I did state that Pokémon offered as gifts are on the table but this isn’t a gift, I guess. Okay. No longer confused. Buyable Pokémon are off the table. Sorry Game Corner! (Not sorry.) But we may have to try something that requires an Abra that I may have to purchase from the Game Corner. However this would be just for fun though and not part of the challenge.
So…I took a few steps into Mt. Moon and what do I encounter? This freaking pest meme of a Pokémon:
Mt. Moon Encounter—Zubat/BlindBart
Lv. 9
Hp: 27
Attack: 15
Defense: 12
Speed: 15
Special: 13
Ah well, at least I have another battle fodder option, I guess? Hello, Geodude and Paras. Where were you two when I needed you? And hey! I found an HP Up item to use so that’s great. And hello Clefairy…you could’ve been a fantastic catch so I could trade you for a Mr. Mime later. Oy vey…
I’m close to running out of MtnDew Spark. Dang. Tonight really isn’t going my way so far. And I’ve got a lot, and I mean A LOT, of cave to cover. For the most part it’s just trying to get out without being too fatigued and run out of health before the end. I’ll see if I can do it. I’m already on healing run 3 and I’ve barely made it through floor 1.
Oh, Lily tried evolving but I denied it for now because she’ll learn Poison Sting next level instead of in like 2-3 more levels. While I’m in Mt. Moon, I’m going to look for a Moon Stone to evolve her further soon. Oop! I immediately found one. Perfect! Having her as a Nidoqueen so soon will make her a super useful member for quite a bit longer.
I guess I was closer to the end than I thought so I’ll just grab my Fossil and beat up Jessie&James. This time I’m grabbing the Dome Fossil. I know, I know praise Helix. (For those who don’t know, that is a reference to a Twitch Plays Pokémon run many years ago which had a very useful Omastar that was originally the other fossil I’m not taking this time.)
Dang it you Team Rocket goobers! You’re not supposed to Poison poor Stinky! It’s just trying its best to beat your Ekans up. Good thing I have a couple Antidotes. Also, let Lily Double Kick your Meowth’s teeth in; she’s so close to learning Poison Sting and then evolving. And knock it off with the Smog attacks! Zippy doesn’t need to be poisoned too…oh. Too late. Dang it, Jessie&James!
Now that that’s over, Lily has evolved and we need to heal up a bit before exiting. And now that we’ve exited, let’s grab the couple items out here and catch our Route 4 encounter!
Route 4 Encounter—Rattata/Goober
Lv. 12
Hp: 31
Attack: 21
Defense: 16
Speed: 23
Special: 11
Not really what I was hoping for, but rules are rules. At least I don’t have to really grind to get it up to a better level.
Before I turn in for the night, I’m going to take out the two Gym Trainers in preparation for beating Misty tomorrow and then receiving the Bulbasaur in Cerulean. Plenty to do tomorrow and I’ll have to start out by getting all prepped for the battles to come. Love ya’! -Emily

The Secret Life of Pokémon Episode 3
A Great Big Treasure Hunt!
I left the house at 10 in the morning for a 2-day trip to Castelia City.
The Pokemon I took: Klinklang, Levanny, Machamp, Ampharos, Swanna, Pidgeot
There's still a lot of other Pokemon I left in the house, and Lapras is one of them, though I usually bring him around with me most of the time.
Wigglytuff: Hey everyone! The boy's gone!
The Pokemon looked out of the house.
Pichu: Lapras is still here. I thought he usually brings him out with him.
Minun: Well, I never knew he would leave Lapras out like that.
Plusle: Maybe he just forgot. He always will bring Lapras out.
Minun: No he won't always.
Plusle: Will!
Minun: Won't!
Marill: With Lapras here, maybe we could go out on a trip with him.
Togedemaru: How about a vacation to a nice sandy island?
Pachirisu: Or how about a treasure hunt?
Clefairy: That'll be fun!
Rowlet: Coo!
Piplup: I think you've spent too long on the TV.
Torchic: Oh boy, I can't wait!
Mime Jr: Sounds like fun, fun, fun! Don't you think, Wynaut?
Wynaut: Why!
Pikachu: No time to wait! Let's all hop on!
Scorbunny: Hey! Don't forget me!
Eevee: And me!
Pichu: Meganium! Over here! Can you help me open the window?
Meganium: No problem!
So he lifted the window shutter up with his beak.
Marill: Let's go everyone!
They all hopped on Lapras. Not every Pokemon, some have to keep track of the location of Lapras.
Eevee: I brought food! I got them from Wigglytuff since she said we need food for our journey.
Oshawott: And here's Lampent! In case it gets dark.
Oshawott is usually scared of the dark.
Lapras: Welcome on board a ferry trip with me, Lapras! Where do you wanna go?
Clefairy: A trip 'round the globe!
Torchic: An underwater cave!
Piplup: Scuba diving!
Pikachu: Uhh...maybe just bring us somewhere. We don't know where we're going anyway.
Lapras: Alright then!
So he sailed off away from home.
Night time comes around and they've travelled for miles and miles.
Pachirisu: Are we there yet?
Pikachu: Not really, if we see land then we'll just stop there.
Lapras is slowly approaching a thick white fog in the middle of the sea.
Lapras: It's getting foggy in here, so hold on everyone!
Oshawott: Don't worry, Lampent will he-
The light on Lampent vanishes.
Togedemaru: Rowlet, I'm scared...
Rowlet: Coo...
Piplup: I'll join in...
Pachirisu: Me too...
Plusle: I better hope we will find somewhere!
Minun: No we won't. We'll just head back home.
Plusle: We will!
Minun: Won't!
Plusle: Will!
Minun: Won't!
Oshawott shaking Lampent: Come on Lampent! Give us hope!
Eevee: Torchic! The food is for everyone!
Torchic: Sorry. But we still have plenty for everyone.
Oshawott shaking Lampent: Lampent please...
Lampent lights up again.
Oshawott: Finally!
Pikachu: Thanks Oshawott, but we're about to CRASH!
Everyone: AAAAAAH!!!
(thud)
The next morning, they all found themselves on an island and Lapras was beached on the shore.
Pikachu: Where are we...
Marill: Get up! We're here at a nice island! We can build sand piles and swim in the sea, or mayb-
Pikachu: No. This is no place for a holiday mood. There's nothing but sand. Not even trees.
Clefairy: That's strange...
Pikachu: Is everyone alright?
Torchic: Yup!
Oshawott: Yeah, and so is Lampent.
Rowlet: Koo!
Scorbunny: Lapras isn't.
Lapras: Guys, I need help getting out of the sand here.
Mime Jr: Ow...my cony head.
Wynaut: Why...
Wigglytuff: Where are they now?
Magneton: They're right here. Looks like some sort of sand pile. It doesn't even look like an island.
Eevee: Do we still have the food?
Scorbunny tries to pull the box of fruit out of the sand.
Scorbunny: Yup, and I got it!
Clefairy: We're going to have to dig the sand around Lapras to get him out.
They all used their paws and claws to dig the sand.
Pikachu: Does anyone know how to use Water Gun?
Marill: No, sorry... I can only do Bubble. (hiccup)
Piplup: Me too... (hiccup)
Pikachu: How about Surf?
Oshawott: I can!
Oshawott swam right behind Lapras and skated back to the sand. He fell off the tiny wave and landed face first on the sand.
Clefairy: Lapras can also use Surf, but he's out of the water now.
Togedemaru: Lapras can also use Hydro Pump but I think that would be a bit too much.
Back at home:
Wigglytuff: They've been here for 10 hours! We have to get them out before the boy gets home!
Magneton: We don't have Pidgeot...
Bellossom: But we have Butterfree! Hopefully he'll get us there.
Butterfree: I can't carry as much as Pidgeot...and I'm also scared of thunderstorms.
Wigglytuff: Alright, let's see...
There will be a thunderstorm at about 7 in the evening, which is about the same time as when the boy gets back home.
Pichu: I'm tired...
Pikachu: But you just had a nap a few minutes ago.
Clefairy was just casually digging until she hits a hard spot in the sand.
Clefairy: Hmm... This thing in the sand looks rather shiny.
Pikachu: Let's dig it out!
They all dug out the hard spot.
Pichu: It looked like a precious box!
Precious box: Open it up!
Pikachu opened the box.
Precious box: Hey! You found me! I'm surprised to find someone who can find someone like me here.
Pichu: Who are you?
Precious box: It is I! Gimmighoul! I'm basically real treasure in a chest, but also a Pokemon!
Pikachu: Cool!
Marill: Can we take it home?
Pikachu: Alright then, we're almost done! Keep digging!
Gimmighoul: There's no need to waste energy. I got this.
A purple wisp appeared in the hole they dug. When it disappeared, the holes became bigger and water from the sea rushed in.
Lapras: Alright everyone! I'm back in service! Hop on.
So they all hopped on and Pikachu picked up Gimmighoul onto the back of Lapras.
Pikachu: You're heavy.
Plusle: He'll tip over if he's too heavy.
Minun: Lapras is well-trained. He won't tip over.
Plusle: He will!
Minun: He won't!
Plusle: Will!
Minun: Won't!
Bellossom: They're over there!
Butterfree: Over here everyone! We're bringing you home!
Magneton: There's going to be a storm in about an hour!
Bellossom: Better hurry up!
Lapras: I'm on my way!
Lapras returned home and stopped at the port near the house he usually sits at.
Meganium opened the window and all the little Pokemon went in.
Wigglytuff: Everyone! He's coming back in a minute! Back to your places!
Gimmighoul: Then what about me?
Wigglytuff: You'll sit by the door entrance.
So when I returned from Castelia City, there was Gimmighoul at my door.
Wanna be friends?
Gimmighoul nodded his head.
So I tapped it on the head with a Pokeball.
Gotcha!
Gimmighoul was caught!
Hey everyone! We've got a new friend!
Pikachu: Pika?
Levanny: (twitch)
Here he is!
Pikachu: Pika pika!
Butterfree: Free!
Wynaut: Why!
They all had a great time with Gimmighoul in the house.
Now who wants a berry?

okay, so. OP i hope you don't take this as me getting upset, i just get super passionate about pokemon and need to explain to everyone in the audience why most people did not think to do this.
first is the most obvious thing like. it came down to arrogance right? the leaders before this were some of the biggest pushovers in pokemon history. falkner and bugsy. another point is that a lot of people don't really want to use pokemon from past gens unless they REALLY love them.
any way it's time to go over the type of team most trainers would've had at this point. you got your starter, you got your pikachu/mareep, free eevee, flying, and bug poke.
now. here's the problem: barring chikorita (who takes not very effective) and totodile/eevee (takes regular damage), EVERYONE on this team is weak to rock. also who would've guessed a gym leader would have type coverage?? actually. this is a good time to bring up the crown jewel: this ABSOLUTELY ingenious setlist and break it down:
Tumblr media
Stomp: a 65 base power move and 30% chance to flinch. not only that, but it's a STAB move making the moves power closer to 98. yeah.
Attract: a status move that has a 50% chance of working every turn. to make things worse, your starter (who would normally be doing the most heavy lifting) is very likely to be male.
Milk Drink: basically just recover/soft-boiled/roost (ok so roost is a bit different) which is VERY GOOD. 50% of max health is even better than any potion you would have access to at this point. also wanted to point out but if you slapped whiney's clefairy before she had a chance to heal it, that means when you FINALLY managed to whittle milktank's health down, she could just heal it with her two potions as well but. why would she at that point when she's got MILK DRINK.
ROLLOUT: oh god. so. it comes to this. here is all the numbers and information on pokemondb.net which i will post now and we can all boggle at the absurdity of these numbers:
Tumblr media
so yeah. as you can see the big problem is even when you switch out your pokemon into another one, even if it's something with high defense, as long as the move hits, it has a chance of a OHKO.
(btw in hgss miltank is level 19 instead but in exchange holds a lum berry. just in case you wanted to like. paralyze it or something you gotta do it AGAIN)
miltank is a pokemon that does not evolve so i guess the best way is to describe it is that pokemon with no evolutions have some pretty strong base stats compared to ones that have yet to evolve fully.
here's an estimation of what the machop you would trade IF it was the same level as miltank:
Tumblr media
and here's quilava (the starter i chose):
Tumblr media
ok, not bad-
NOW THIS IS MILTANK:
Tumblr media
as you can see, even if your pokémon were a few levels higher, they're still at a disadvantage here. machop has some low base stats so unless you train and evolve it, its STILL going to be a battle as a turn 4-5 rollout can most likely oneshot it. this is why, for speed runners or nuzlocks the beginning is almost always the hardest just in terms of your options being severely limited and shit like this.
an way just to close this out but this post really unlocked another interesting memory in me. you need drowzee to trade for the machop and like. drowzee in joto was MY FIRST shiny pokemon and i captured it on route 34. i didn't know what it was, but it LOOKED special. reading this post, i wonder if i was looking for drowzee specifically for this purpose?
idk about y'all but when i was playing pokemon as a baby, i did not know defense and special defense were separate. or attack and special attack for that matter, i just saw a move and clicked on it. flame wheel looks cool on quilava and has a higher number than ember, so im keeping it. even though it's attack stat is the weaker of the two. so yeah. machop is the closest to a "hard counter" we would've had for miltank but fortunately whitey's strategy really only works the one time. the best thing to do was level up your pokemon or catch a heracross or quagsire. for full transparency, whitney is the only time i've ever been bested by the game's AI (not counting battle frontier...) but i think that's awesome. it taught me to become more diverse and creative with my movesets. any way i just think breaking stuff down like this is a lot of fun, and i always find it interesting when a community of people all had the same experience.
wait hold on yall didnt just use the machop that resists rollout, is immune to attract from female pokemon, can ko normal-types in like two hits if you just train it a little, and is basically given to you for free in the very same city you fight whitney????

THE FINAL ONE: The Reboot
Under the Cut, but this is it! The end! I hope y'all liked my crossover!
Scary Girl AKA Lauren: She'd be a Gengar; Shadowy ghost of a (suspected) Clefairy that takes delight in tormenting others? Check. No idea what boundaries are? Check. Unintentionally creepier when attempting to be "normal"? Check.
Priya, The Novice of Everything: Thinking about Priya and her ridiculous amount of training toward TDI, I would think her season 1 self would be a Gabite; pretty well rounded, but not quite there yet. When Season 2 rolls around, she shows up fully evolved as a Garchomp. This is because it is one of the best all-around statwise non-legendary pokemon, it is well known as Cynthia's BEST pokemon, but it does have a fatal flaw in that x4 weakness to ice, which is the chink in its armor, so I'd say this reflects Priya fairly well.
Zee, The Good Vibes Only Guy: Zee would be a Clodsire. I wanted to make him a bit different from a Quagsire, especially since I already put a Quagsire on Owen's team. Still similar chilling and vibing but making Zee a bit different. Clodsire also works as it mostly just helps others and only attacks via reaction, when it itself is attacked.
Caleb, the Smoking Hot Player: Caleb is honestly the most boring player. As Chris said, YA BASIC. So Caleb strikes me as a pikachu, but during the series his traits lent themselves more to something like a Fighting type.
I chose Breloom for him; Grass/Fighting, very cute but often outperformed by better types.
Nichelle, Gorgeous with a Side of Substance: Pawmi -> Pawmot. Similar to Priya, Nichelle's season 1 appearance was underwhelming, but upon her return to season 2, she'd evolved. I made her a pikachu clone, because in universe, she's supposed to be popular and Pawmot actually does have good stats, and is a unique combination of types and can be used fairy effectively.
Chase & Emma, The Youtubers: Grimmsnarl and Hatterene, respectively. Introduced in the same game, opposing types, both male/female majority for their species, this felt natural. They butt heads just as often as they make up. While Chase can be useful at times, Emma is often overwhelmed with intense dislike and knows how to get inside his head.
Raj & Wayne, The Hockey Bros: These two share one braincell, and they're very good people but seem to be unable to really think for themselves. I decided on similar but different pokemon for them; I made Raj a Bolthund and Wayne a Manectric. Good kids, but uh...not exactly a lot going on upstairs.
Bowie, The Loveable Party Boy: Sneaseler, a competitive loner, who is another odd type; poison/fighting makes sense for his competitive streak driving him to do anything to win, but he often sets himself apart from everyone else. Being a cat-like pokemon also ties in his similarities to MK and Julia
Julia, The Influencer and Evil in Human Form: Liepard, as it is beautiful but this belies its cruel and merciless nature. Julia fits right into that, as of course, her season 1 personality was very "ASMR influencer" vs who she really is. It also explains her relationships with MK and Bowie, who share their own competitive streaks
Mary-Kate "MK", The Outrageous and Underestimated: MK is, of course, a Sneasel. Sneaky, devious and willing to do whatever it takes, MK is well suited to the dark type. Her typing also shows as much as she wasn't close to anyone in Season 1, Season 2 she's developed a (b)romance with Julia
Damien, The Reactionary: Surprising no one, Damien is an Absol; poor kid is filled with DOOOM signals from the beginning, and is scared of his own shadow. He's also fairly likable so it makes sense he's an Absol, the pokemon for Emo Kids
Ripper, The Bad Boy: Alolan Muk. He's an odd mix between toxic and useful, I decided on Alolan Muk. Ripper has an open mouth, insert foot problem more often than not.
Axel, The Hard Core: Scizor; a very cool pokemon in appearance, and while it can be strong, the x4 weakness to Fire really makes it less useful, so I feel it reflects Axel pretty well.
Millie, The Book-Smart One: Delphox. An odd type combo, and while her psychic type shows her smarts, the fire typing shows Millie's inability to plan for much.

some short (and probably unlikely) lgpe!leaf headcanons that ive been thinking about for the last 2 days which probably will be false and i will delete this later but i wanted to put it here first jfkdksd
clefairy main! leaf considered a person with unreasonable luck
leaf getting a late start on her journey because red and green took prof. oaks only available pokemon
red and green feeling bad for just leaving her but she insists she’ll be okay and will catch up soon
a sad leaf having a mew encounter, who tells her not to be sad, and brings her a wandering clefairy to catch. prof oak being glad she caught a starter on her own so she can head out
leaf misc. running into red and green along the way, main focus being the pokedex
leaf having to train her ass off because she feels like shes behind both red and green.
neither of them battle her because they both feel bad until post-league. as a result she overtrains and becomes OP without knowing. after she beat Green-‘cmon I’ll take it easy on you’-Oak, red refuses to fight her. he doesnt want to know the result.
she really believes green took it easy on her
fights the league and WINS, but doesnt really want the champion title. she just wanted to know she could do it
leaf UNREASONABLY relying on metronome. somehow it always ALWAYS works out in some way. her clefairy is a lucky charm
green having a soft spot, refusing to admit to anyone that he has a bit of a crush on her. green claiming its just infatuation. red reminds him, “what, a 4 year long infatuation?”
he hates being called out on his bullshit
leaf becoming an exploration, research, and pokedex nut, while red becomes champion, and green is awkwardly second-best at both
team rockets always trying to 1) steal her pokedex or 2) get her to join. she hates them. theyre just straight up annoying
green thinking hes her self-proclaimed protector/hero and helps her fight, even though she clearly doesnt need it. she thinks its cute and lets him anyway
green always making excuses to travel with her because shes ‘too weak to travel by yourself, its dangerous’ and ‘eh, i was heading this way anyway’
green yelling at her that “You can’t win battles by relying on METRONOME!” then she proceeds to win a battle with metronome
(her clefairy has other strong moves, but she uses metronome to get the edge on)
leaf being unrealistically good at the slot machines. her clefairy is helping her (lol) and she wins a bunch of prize money.
rocket: ‘leaf we love you but youre making us go broke pls stop we’re going to ban you soon’
leaf giving red and green a bunch of items and pokeballs along the way. green always gets more gifts than red but neither of them know.
leaf being the one who braves the pokemon tower with the boys(tm) trying to pretend theyre not scared following behind her
leafs main goal being to find mew again. she eventually does. green always asks why theres a pokeball on her belt she never uses. she shrugs it off and dodges the question

Charcherry Weekly - Issue 125
The snow falls gently from the heavens as of late. This is Mage of Light Nick Card and I've got some news to share.
Competitive Ambitions
There has been recent discussion of a little cup style pokemon tournment being ran in early 2023. It is still being worked out, so details are currently scarce. Tangentially related, PKMN Breeder HAZEL has introduced a scoring system she's been researching known as the OpenSkill rating system. A number of known trainers have been entered into the system, though the sample size of recorded battles has proven to be very small so far:
Jovin 9.272840438955914 Brae Emit 7.22262823647624 Rise Emit 6.729486072456535 Remote Soulbot 3.765501947016432 Hazel & Gwyn 3.4387124345030067 Anton 0.369765594907868 HAZEL 0.0 Charles -0.5491206378924822 Nick Card -1.8317503324442903 Maggie -1.8317503324442903 Shellderspire Isle VoidCo Employee -3.090516308757678 Hissnclinkanck -4.400395724788748
When this list was first posted, your dear newsletter writer had a score of 0.0. I wound up challenging Spirit of the Hunt Gwyn to a pokemon battle soon after. Their staravia, Starstruck, quickly floored my larvesta, Sunburst. I feel like I probably should have used Slope if I wanted to win, but I didn't want to be accused if being unfair, considering Slope is level 30, compared to Starstruck being level 20. A few supereffective flying type attacks later, I predictably lost.
A few days later, Gwyn and Heir of Hope Hazel Careon took a trip to the Orange Islands to do some proper pokemon training. Rogue of Heart Charles sent a number of greatdexes with them to perform field tests with. They managed to stream an almost four hour training session, rendered as gameplay of Pokemon Orange. The footage can be found here, complete with chat overlay: www.youtube.com/watch?v=NlCi0WMc7Uw Gwyn's known team at this point consists of the following:
Bilb the Ivysaur Writhe the butterfree Danger the male nidoran Deb the lapras Minnie the pikachu and Aria the clefairy
They have managed to earn one badge so far, and have returned after the trip quite winded. One thing's for sure, I'm going to need to get serious about training if I want to be able to face them in a pokemon battle now!
Meanwhile, Heir of Time Rise Emit has managed to finally defeat Sinnoh Champion Cynthia, successfully claiming her title! It is unknown what they plan on doing next, especially considering their rather highly trained team, and lack of interest in being tied down to a particular role.
The Holidays!
On Thursday, it was the ninth anniversary of the Vast Meep, aka frogmas. It is apparently a celebration of the maturation of Gene as a habitable cosmic entity. I've heard about it here and there, but never really got into the practice of celebrating it. First time I heard about it was actually when me and Thoren were tracking down Rise back in december 2019. Apparently it's just sort of a thing that's celebrated in a lot of random places in the tadpole galaxy? Anyhow, Rufus wound up taking that day and the next off, prompting their boss, Prince of Time Aeons Edgeworth, to take their place at the pokesnack stand.
Coming up soon, is Present Redistrobution day, or Redistro for short. It is a rather localized holiday that just so happens to fall on the same day as christmas for possibly thematic reasons. Originally, it was a day when first guardian santa claus traditionally teleported large amounts of toys to countless post offices across Jingloria, for mailcarriers to deliver to countless homes. This practice was exploited by business owners who wished for a publicity channel, which soon lead to most products made by elves are created in a toy-like manner to allow for santa to deliver them. Since the Reckoning occurred, first guardian santa claus has yet to have their location reported.
In this day and age however, Redistro is meant to be a celebration of survival, as it was the day that The Reckoning occured upon Planet Jingloria. Aeons and a number of other players had saved a bunch of elves from the meteors and they've been living on starter planet for a couple years now. Every year a ton of elves return to charcherry to celebrate together for a number of days. Thoren has taken the role of santa claus in this, having felt somewhat guilty in the past for their misdeeds against the elves. Nowadays, having been brought back to life, Thoren has far less guilt, but is still dedicated to the duty. Thoren plans on making sure that presents are delivered across starter planet (and a few choice settlements off-world as well) in the outwardly observed timespan of one night. I am currently unsure what sorts of accommodations Thoren is planning on employing this year, as the global route has been noted to be very grueling. Regardless, knowing Thoren's reliability, they will find a way.
I'll be Home for Crispmas
After a great deal of time spent away from home, in the wilds of route 1 in the Kanto region, Page of Mind Samm has decided to spend the rest of the month back home with the group again. She appears quite excited to spend the holidays with those she cares about.
In other news, Desertian President Katyleen Kitten and her wife Samus Kitten have both returned home, having spent time away for their own reasons. They still however need time to recover, which is being respected.
This week’s known market stands in Desertia Town:
Candlestick stand (this week)
Glue stand (this week)
Artisanal jinglorian toy stand (one day left!!)
Katie’s potion stand (*CaFAI filling in for Katie when unavailable)
Brae’s canned goods stand (currently closed for the time being)
shinyjiggly pokesnacks stand (ran by Rufus and Aeons)
Wound up taking a nap in the middle of writing. It's so cozy with the fire roaring this time of the night. At least this way I can get some segmented sleep. https://letssosl.boards.net/thread/353/charcherry-weekly-issue-125

As the OP who originally made this post, I feel like I have the right to make a response to this.
Ok, first of all, you point out how it's possible that the reason that Green and Leaf have overlapping quirks and personality similarities to how they were both raised in Pallet Town; but if that were the case, why don't Red and Blue share some of the same quirks and traits as well? Why is it that Red is quiet and stoic rather than cheerful and enthusiastic? Why is Blue cocky and a bit full of himself, rather than being more quirky and clingy to his pokemon the same way Green/Leaf is?
Also, as revealed in Evolutions, Green wasn't just doing that Mewtwo catching mission for herself; she was also doing it for Professor Oak as well. That's why she got so upset when Chase/Elaine caught Mewtwo before her, because she thought they were some random trainer catching such an elusive and valuable mon all for themselves, rather than catching if for the sake of helping an elder professor and mentor figure complete his studies.
Green also showed sorrow and remorse for letting Professor Oak down when she got back to the lab, showing that her ego was a bit bruised as well. Her annoyance and jealousy also quickly faded away as soon as she found out that Elaine is actually a dex holder just like her.
Besides, Green also shows some acts of selflessness too; like when she gives not one, but two mega stones for Mewtwo to Chase/Elaine, even though they took away her opportunity to catch said mon in the first place. Not to mention she saves Trace from being attacked by zubats even though she was competing against him to get Mewtwo, and she tried to shield her Blastoise from the final blow from Mewtwo when fighting Elaine, a la Ash Ketchum style!
I think the reason why she didn't ask Valerie to become her pokemon specifically is because Valerie really didn't have anything that she wanted or needed. Valerie is just some fairy type gym leader from Kalos who’s relatively unrelated to Leaf’s goals in Masters. It would be pointless to ask her to become her pokemon because of that.
“but Leaf was had been previously established to have caught a Clefairy in Mt. Moon” I honestly still don't get this argument simply for one reason: wouldn't have Green also caught hers at Mt Moon too? She had to have gotten it from somewhere, after all.
From what I have seen, the dialogue scenes between the trainers and their Pokemon partners during said event were written in a way so that the dialogue would tie in with the Trainers’ character or experiences in the mainline games in some way.
Like with Grimsley for example, he's a goth so his dialogue with his clefairy partner is about how he likes the strong connection the species has to the moon. Or, for a much closer comparison, Ethan mentions his own Togepi that he gets in the mainline games during the event as well.
I think this is the same case with Green/Leaf. Leaf mentions catching clefairy/clefable during that event because her LGPE counterpart Green has one, and that's the location where she caught it.
Not only that, but Leaf specifically saying that she "used to look all over Mt Moon hoping to find one (a clefairy)" also matches with Green's characterization of being passionate about hunting down and capturing pokemon, especially rare ones.
“And we can’t count her future Mix pair with Blastoise either, since it’s going to Dynamax instead of Mega Evolve, which Green’s Blastoise will almost certainly do.” That's because Dena decided that the kantrio’s starters from the remake timeline will mega evolve instead of their classic timeline ones as shown in LGPE. Since they still want the classic ones to have some kind of special treatment, they give them the ability to dynamax instead; an ability that's similar to mega evolution. That doesn't make it any less of a reference to what the kantrio's starters are in the Classic/LGPE timelines because Red’s Venusaur and Blue’s Charizard also mega evolved instead of being dynamaxed in the LGPE games as well.
So someone on Reddit posted a list of personality similarities between Green as she appears in Let’s Go and Leaf as she appears in Masters, posted here for reference:
EDIT: Should probably credit OP. reddit.com/u/Loose_Balance_9822
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And I get they were focusing on similarities, but the fact is, Leaf and Green have one key personality difference that separates them as characters: Leaf’s selflessness versus Green’s selfishness. It’s likely that the girls were raised together in Pallet Town, so they’d have some inherent shared quirks, but Leaf tends to lean towards protectiveness, as opposed to Green’s possessiveness. Leaf’s ego was bruised because she lost to Snorlax, so that’s where her jealousy at Red catching it comes from. Meanwhile, Green picked a fight with Chase/Elaine the instant she heard they caught Mewtwo. Also, Leaf encouraged Valerie’s desire to become a Pokemon with no ulterior motive behind it, but if she were played true to Green’s Let’s Go portrayal, she’d probably ask Valerie to become HER Pokemon on top of everything else going on in that particular chapter. And people like to point to Lodge Leaf having a Clefable, but Leaf was had been previously established to have caught a Clefairy in Mt. Moon, giving her an actual Pokemon to use for the Lodge, since protags don’t generally have set team members. And we can’t count her future Mix pair with Blastoise either, since it’s going to Dynamax instead of Mega Evolve, which Green’s Blastoise will almost certainly do.

Quick headcannon for Lillie: She became the Kanto League champion after moving there so her mother could recover.
///I really like this idea, and I wanted to do something special with it. Since I'm going off of Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon, I had to figure out something different for this and I hope you all like it. I may have gone overboard with it! Also, nothing in this is at all related to Covid-19. I just needed something to replace Lusamine's condition from the original Sun/Moon's ending///
Lillie's journey through Kanto had been insanely difficult for the last two years. Nothing at all prepared her for what would come before she started her journey. Her mother had fallen extremely ill, and it came to light that the illness came from something she had come in contact with in Ultra Space to go after Necrozma. As Lillie had heard from her girlfriend Kaitlyn soon after Lusamine had been hospitalized, Guzma had not been spared from the same illness and had been in bad condition back home in Alola. Kaitlyn herself had become sick as well, which was almost too much to bear for the hopeful Kanto champion to learn that her mother, her girlfriend, and the man she started to look at as another big brother were suffering with the same sickness. Thankfully Kaitlyn was much more resilient to the sickness, but it had still left her bedridden for a good while. Their Pokémon had been free from the illness thankfully as well. Lusamine had been taken back to the Aether Foundation as they had the most knowledge of Ultra Space, and she along with Kaitlyn and Guzma were being treated there. A renowned researcher named Bill had journeyed with them as well to try to aid in their treatment as well with the knowledge he had from personal experience .
Before Lusamine had been taken back home, she had given her daughter her Bewear to watch over her and help her begin her journey.
Both Kaitlyn and Lusamine both had urged Lillie to begin her journey and that they would both be okay, and Lillie had done so after receiving Bewear from her mother and Froslass from Kaitlyn. Her journey was extremely slow. It had taken her almost two and a half years to eventually earn her final badge. From what she had heard recently, Kaitlyn was doing well while in the last stages of recovery, and Guzma and Lusamine both were on the road to recovery but were still rather weak. But just the thought of the three recovering well filled Lillie with burning determination as she went through the Elite Four with Bewear, Froslass, and her other Pokémon by her side.
"Well well... it looks like you've beaten me..."
The words had come from Kanto's recent champion, the former champion of the Sinnoh league, Cynthia just moments after Garchomp had fainted following a final Ice Beam from the Froslass and before she returned Garchomp to his ball. Lillie was speechless along with the crowd filling the stadium's seats. She was down to just Froslass after she returned Bewear to his ball when he finally fainted after defeating three of Cynthia's Pokémon. It had been a difficult battle as the thoughts of her mother, girlfriend, and Guzma flowed through her mind. She knew she just couldn't lose this battle, and she didn't.
"I-I won?" Lillie asked in disbelief.
Cynthia grinned an nodded. "You did. You've shown your trust in your Pokémon and they've shown theirs in you. Lillie, you are the new champion of the Kanto Pokémon League."
There was nothing Lillie could do to keep from erupting in cheers for herself as she ran to hug Kaitlyn's tired Froslass and the crowd began to erupt in cheers and applause of their own as well. "Frossss..." Came the reaction from the ice type Pokémon, and Lillie hugged her a bit tighter.
"Thank you for trusting me, Froslass," Kaitlyn said, tears beginning to form in her eyes, "We have so much to tell Kaitlyn and mom when we see them again."
Cynthia stepped forward and placed her hand on Lillie's shoulder after the noise from the crowd had died down. "As a mother and as a friend of Lusamine's, it hurts me to know that you've gone through the pain you have of knowing what happened to her. She's going to be so proud of you when you show her that you've become champion, and I'm willing to bet your girlfriend is going to be over the moon in joy."
Lillie looked up to Kanto's former champion and blinked away tears. "Th-thank you, Cynthia."
"Now, let's go to the back and get your Pokémon healed and get you registered as champion."
Lillie nodded and returned Froslass to her ball, and she followed Cynthia from the center of the stadium to the Hall of Fame. There she saw the hanging banners of all past Kanto champions including Blue, Red, and Cynthia herself. Cynthia had Lillie place all her pokéballs into the recovery/record machine, and all of them began to pop up onto the screen above it as they were healed and recorded into the Hall of Fame. Clefairy, Ribombee, Blastoise, Umbreon, Bewear, and Froslass. Lillie couldn't help but smile as she saw them appear on the screen, and she inserted her trainer card into the card reader for her own information before placing her hand on a screen.
Cynthia couldn't keep a smile from growing on her face as Lillie was entered into the Hall of Fame. She knew something that Lillie didn't. "Congratulations on your victory, Lillie. Some would say a team like yours wouldn't be able to make it here, let alone make it to the Elite Four, but those people are wrong. All Pokémon are strengthened by the will of their own trainers, and any can achieve great things alongside their trainer. You and your team earned this victory, and you've all earned every ounce of my respect."
Lillie was essentially beaming from the praise she received from Cynthia. She felt her body shivering in excitement and pride. "What will you do now that you aren't Kanto's champion anymore?"
Cynthia hummed in thought. "I think I'll take a vacation to Alola for a little while, and then journey to Johto to become champion there next."
Lillie smiled at the answer. "Good luck, Cynthia."
"Thank you. Now let's go face the crowd again."
Cynthia led Lillie out of the Hall of Fame after the new champion retrieved her Pokémon, and the bright lights of the stadium blinded her for a moment before her eyes adjusted to them. The night sky was beautiful and filled with stars as the full moon was high in the sky, and the crowd began to erupt in cheers once more as Lillie and Cynthia reappeared and on the display, all of Lillie's team were shown. Lillie looked around at the crowd cheering her name for a moment before her eyes fell on the center of the arena.
And she gasped.
There in what seemed to be good health were Lusamine and Kaitlyn, both of them smiling from ear to ear at her with the former looking quite thin still as she was using a wheelchair to aid her. Lillie thought she was hallucinating from the adrenaline that was coursing through her, but it was real. Her mother and her girlfriend were there. She saw Lusamine say something to Kaitlyn, and the Alolan champion made her way toward Lillie at a fast pace. Lillie ran for Kaitlyn in kind and the two soon embraced in in a tight hug as the crowd slowly quieted down to give the two their moment.
Tears began to stream down both girls' faces as the two began to cry tears of absolute joy, finally able to be with each other again after such a long time. Their embrace lasted for well over a minute in silence, the two just crying into each other's shoulders, uncaring as the whole of the Kanto region were watching them either in the stadium or from their homes. Eventually, the two separated from the hug, their hands on each other's shoulders as they looked each other in the eyes. Then, they leaned forward and shared a soft, comforting kiss while two pokéballs on Lillie's waist began to shake violently. The two ended their kiss as both Froslass and Bewear exited their pokéballs in the presence of their original trainers. As Bewear ran to Lusamine, Froslass was hugged by Kaitlyn in a warm embrace.
"Fross! Froslass!" Froslass exclaimed as she was hugged by her trainer.
Several more moments ticked by as the reunion took place, and Kaitlyn finally found the strength to speak. "I'm... r-really happy to see you again, Lillie. And y-you too, Froslass."
Lillie sniffled a few times as she looked at her girlfriend, still in shock to see her. "Y-you're really here... I-I'm happy t-to see you too, Katie. I-I thought you were still recovering..."
Kaitlyn shook her head, smiling brightly still. "Not me. I'm symptom free, except for a little weakness in my knees. Lusamine is still really weak, but she didn't want to miss you becoming champion. You did amazing, sweetie."
"A-and Guzma?"
"Same shape as your mom. The last I saw, he was kicking up a fuss every time the Aether employees walk him around to get his strength back."
Lillie couldn't help but giggle at that. "S-sounds like him. Is... that sickness contagious?"
Kaitlyn quickly shook her head. "Nope. Bill found that out when Guzma coughed in his face on accident. All the Aether employees are okay, and all our Pokémon are still okay too."
"That's really good to hear..." Lillie breathed a sigh of relief at the information.
She then looked past her girlfriend towards her mother, who was quietly speaking with Cynthia. She stepped past Kaitlyn and approached her mother. The two noticed her and Cynthia stepped away to let the two speak. When Lillie got to Lusamine, she just knelt down and hugged her mother tightly as she did with Kaitlyn. Lusamine shuddered a bit, but she smiled again before weakly returning the embrace.
"You did it, Lillie..." Lusamine murmured in her daughter's ear, "I knew you could."
"I-I missed you s-s-so much, m-mom..." Lillie said, tears falling from her eyes once more as she cried into Lusamine's shoulder.
"I've missed you too," Lusamine shakily reached a hand up and placed it on the back of Lillie's head, "In that bed I laid in for the last two years, all I could do was listen to Gladion read the updates you sent every day. It gave us all the strength to keep fighting, even Guzma though he'd never admit it. You gave us all a reason to fight that virus."
"I-I'm so glad you're all okay. I was so worried that I might not see any of you ever again... I-I-I was so s-scared..."
The fear in Lillie's voice broke the dam that held back Lusamine's tears, and the Aether President began to cry tears of absolute relief, and the last remnants of her fear vanished. "I was scared of that too. I spent so long being blinded by what happened to your father that I lost my connection with you and Gladion, and I did such horrible things. I was scared that I would never be able to mend my bonds with you both... Now that fear is absolutely gone, and I'm happy to have that chance again."
Lillie sniffled a bit more and buried her face in Lusamine's shoulder even more. "I-I love you, m-mom. I-I always have."
"I love you too, Lillie. I'm so sorry for everything I put both you and Gladion through..." Lusamine pulled away from Lillie and looked her in the eyes, and she smiled, "I-I am so, s-so proud of you. You've grown to be such a strong, beautiful young woman and I'm so proud to call you my daughter. I wish I could have been here through your entire journey."
Lillie smiled and wiped tears from her eyes before hugging Lusamine again, and then Bewear wrapped his large arms around them both to hug them. "Weeaaaar!" He exclaimed in happiness, knowing that Lusamine was okay.
"Two champions that are girlfriends..." Cynthia remarked from a short distance away to Kaitlyn, who was still hugging her Froslass, "I don't think I've ever heard of that before."
Kaitlyn was smiling widely at the sight before her and she wiped tears away from her eyes. "I knew she could do it one day. I just really wish me and Lusamine could have been here for her."
"But you're here for her now in her greatest moment, making it even greater. That's what matters the most."
"Yeah... you're right."
"And you both were always with her in her heart and her thoughts, and through the Pokémon you both trusted her with."
Kaitlyn went over to Lillie and Lusamine after Bewear had finally let them go, and she and Lillie shared another kiss. "I'm really proud of you too, Lillie. You did amazing."
"I have you to thank for it," Lillie replied, "Without Froslass and Bewear, I don't think I could have won. And without you saving me on that bridge and giving me the inspiration to become a trainer... I would have never been here to be able to have this moment. Thank you for everything, Kaitlyn. I can't believe it's been almost five years since then."
"Neither can I. I love you."
"I love you too-gaah!" Lillie was caught off guard when Bewear pulled them both and Lusamine into another hug.
Cynthia chuckled at that and turned to face the crowd that all of them had nearly forgotten about in the moment. "Ladies and gentlemen, your new champion!" She motioned toward the middle of the group hug, "Lillie!"
The crowd began to cheer once more and if the stadium had a roof, it would have surely been blown off. The end of the Kanto League Challenge was capped off in one of the greatest moments in its history, the reunion of the new champion with two of those closest to her that had been battling an unknown and very debilitating sickness for the last two years as the crowd had discovered.
It was a special moment for all to witness, but it was even more special for Lillie, Lusamine, and Kaitlyn.

No Puppet Strings Can Hold Me Down (17/17)
The Magnus Archives fanfic. An AU that diverges from canon between episodes 159 and 160, in which Peter Lukas’ statement that “he got you” takes on a different meaning.
on AO3
Jon hadn’t seen it coming.
In hindsight, it made sense that he wouldn’t have--if there had been any warning, any way of him knowing what was about to happen, then Jonah would have known of it as well, and the plan would thus have been ruined before it could even begin.
That didn’t make it any easier, though, when Jon woke up in the middle of the night to a sharp pain in his left eye.
It was difficult to see in the dark, and not just because, as Jon quickly realized, his field of vision wasn’t quite what it normally was, his sight on his left side now entirely gone. It took a few seconds for the darkness and silhouettes to coalesce into a clearer image, but once it did, Jon could feel his heart racing.
Martin was standing over him with a knife, a knife that was dripping blood onto the couch below.
The pieces fit together in Jon’s mind quickly enough after that.
Unfortunately, it seemed that the same was true for Jonah as Jon’s body began to move of its own accord, throwing off the blankets that had been on top of him and reaching up for Martin, trying to wrestle the knife away from him.
(Jon was glad, now, that he had was now in such poor physical shape. It would help Martin’s odds in the fight, after all.)
His nails scratched against flesh, his elbows jabbed and blocked Martin’s moves, the sting of his eye was matched by aches across his body, and Jon could do nothing but watch the fight unfold...
Wait.
That wasn’t entirely true, was it? Jon knew one thing he could do, at least, something that had incapacitated Jonah once before...
Jon had spent so long keeping the door in his mind shut, doing everything he could to prevent the Eye from seeping through.
It was all too easy to let it open wide.
(If Martin achieved his goal with the other eye, Jon figured he’d be freed soon enough, and his giving in to the Eye would become a non-issue. If Martin didn’t... well, Jon hadn’t been able to do much anyway, so how much would really be lost in the end?)
The information poured into Jon’s mind, a tidal wave of knowledge that overwhelmed his mind and his senses.
It has been eleven days since Georgie Barker last ate Hungarian food. Less than fifty people have contracted full-blown rabies and lived to tell the tale. The true identity of Dan Cooper, popularly but incorrectly known as D.B. Cooper, was a member of the Fairchild family. Michael Malloy had multiple murder attempts on his life fail in part because his heavy drinking prevented damage from methanol and ethylene glycol poisoning.
Jon felt a stabbing pain in his arm, looked to see that both Martin’s hands and his own were on the knife, struggling to gain control over its trajectory.
This is the fifth time that this couch has been stained by liquid damage and the third time that it has had blood on it. The bacteria that cause staph infections are commonly present on the skin, only causing infection upon entering the interior of the body. Mike Crew’s great-uncle, Jeremiah Crew, died in a flash flood. The singular form of the word data is datum.
Jon could see the soft gleam of the metal as it approached his face.
Holding your breath before diving underwater can cause drowning by shallow water blackout. Manuela Dominguez is still trapped within Helen’s corridors. Clefairy, not Pikachu, was originally meant to be Pokemon’s mascot. Blind spots are caused by the lack of light-detecting cells in the area where the optic nerve passes through the optic disc. The Admiral is currently-
The rush of information suddenly stopped, and Jon’s senses rose up to fill the void of stimulation--all senses, that is, except for one. Jon’s vision was entirely gone now, leaving him with nothing but a field of darkness and burning pain where his eyes had been.
At least he could hear himself think now, even if it was difficult to keep up a coherent stream of thought when he was in such agony.
And, as Jon focused on his own breathing, which was fast and heavy now, he found that he could control it, slowly but surely calming his breathing down.
There was blood trickling down his face, but Jon didn’t dare try to wipe it away for fear of touching his fresh wounds and making the pain that much worse.
“...Martin?”
A rustle of movement behind him, a few footsteps, then: “Jon? Is that you?”
Jon let out a laugh, shaky and hysterical, not caring that it made his chest ache. “Yes, it’s me. You- you did it.”
Martin hesitated for a moment. “...can you prove it?”
“...probably not.” Another shaky laugh, not quite as boisterous as the first. “I didn’t- we’ve barely talked since I- since the Unknowing, and so much has changed since then. I don’t know if I was human before it, but now... well, now I might be human again, I suppose, but I’m not sure if that helps either. You haven’t known me when I was- was fully human, after all, have you, you’ve only ever known me as the Archivist, and now... now I’m not sure what I am, really...”
“Yeah, alright, good enough. Now just sit still, Jon, I’ve got some towels to help with the bleeding-”
“Wh- that didn’t prove anything! That was the whole point!”
“Nobody can pull off an existential crisis quite like you can, Jon. Especially not Jonah Magnus.” Jon could feel the warm air as Martin let out a soft snort. “Now just- here, does that help?”
Soft fabric was pressed against his face, and pressure pushing it down, pressure that made the pain go from bad to worse at first before it died down.
“It does, yes. Thank you, Martin.”
“Least I could do.” Another huff of warm air. “Seriously, when I- I’m the one who-”
“You don’t have to say it.”
“I’m so sorry, Jon. I didn’t want to hurt you, especially since you couldn’t do anything about it, but it- it seemed like the only way out-”
“You don’t need to apologize.” Jon started to shake his head, stopped with a wince when it made the pain flare up again.
“I said stay still.”
“I get that now...” Jon sighed softly. “But I- I did tell you it was okay, before, when I could. Whatever the price for taking down Jonah Magnus, I knew it’d be worth it. You have nothing to apologize for.”
“Still, I...” A pause. “...you can’t see my gesturing, can you?”
“Not even slightly. Which is, I believe, rather the point?”
“Right, yeah. I have some supplies, but we should- I know hospitals are probably a no-go at the moment, but you need medical help, and I know this woman in the village who’s a nurse, she can help you better than I can.”
Jon suddenly knew, then--lower-case knew, but with no less certainty--that Martin had befriended the village’s nurse with a scenario like this one, or perhaps even worse ones, in mind. He’d planned ahead, made sure he wouldn’t risk the worst happening, even after having to take drastic measures to free Jon from his imprisonment.
God, Jon loved him.
“Sounds like a plan.” Jon hesitated. “...I just hope the worst is over now.”
“I mean, isn’t it? It’s over now, it’s ended, right?”
“Even if we got rid of Jonah Magnus for good, which I’m not sure of-”
“His bloody eyes are on the ground, there’s not much more proof you can get than that-”
“There’s more out there. Daisy, the other hunters, the mess back at the Institute... not all of it can end here.”
“...maybe you’re right. Maybe this isn’t the end. But you know what?” Martin squeezed Jon’s arm, gently, and Jon noticed that Martin’s hand was warmer than it had been for some time now. “It doesn’t have to be. We can turn it into a new beginning, the start of a better life than the one we had back in London.”
“Not a high bar, that one.”
“Agreed.” Martin let out a low whistle. “Can you stand up? I’d really rather not just carry you all the way to the car-”
“What, you don’t fancy a bridal carry? Carrying me over the threshold?” Jon’s voice was teasing, but he felt Martin sway slightly, and he wished he could see the look on Martin’s face.
“I mean, I can do it if I have to, I suppose, but-”
“No, no, let me at least try.” Jon moved one arm to keep his towels pressed against his eye sockets, brushing against Martin’s arm in the process, and used the other to push himself off of the couch. It was slow and shaky and probably not a pretty sight, but he got up and stayed up, and that was what mattered.
“Alright, now, the front door isn’t too far, just over there-”
“Still can’t see your gesturing.”
“Right. Of course. It’s, it’s on your right, after you cross the room--do you think you can make it to the car alright?”
Despite the pain that still plagued him, Jon broke out into a wide smile. “Only if you lead the way.”
Martin took Jon’s hand, and side by side, the two made their way forward.
