I genuinely don't know how to control my emotions everytime I see someone compare two Harry Potter ships (mostly Drarry) with COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PERSONALITYS just because it's "the same dynamic" (like Gryffindor x Slytherin or enemies to lovers or secret relationships...)
FOR EXAMPLE. SCORBUS AND DRARRY... ARRRG!! I ranted about this to my friend today because they made a comparison and I freaked out...
See, Drarry has both the dynamics I mentioned above. In the version i have in my head (aka, as canon accurate as possible) they hated eachother, but there was something about the other they couldn't help find enticing. They wanted to a claw a space inside the other where they could fit, all nails and teeth and obsession. Neither of then admitted this, because they were too busy with their own missions, and wanted to defeat eachother. They probably confused those feelings for hatred anyway, Harry thinking he needs to always be looking at Draco incase he does something evil etc etc. And if they were to get together? It'd be in adulthood, or atleast after months of communication and friendship where they can realise their feelings. And after that, Draco would want everyone to know that he is so happy with his new boyfriend slash husband, making it as public as he can, before running off to live in a Manor hidden from everyone. This is one last rebellious move towards Lucius, which Harry is very glad to help with. (Similarly, I dislike when Draco is made into the sweet doting soft "wife material" husband. He will scratch Harry before touching a single dish. He is rather scowling or smiling smuggly. Their relationship is a competition)
SCORBUS? They are THE friends to lovers. Both of them adore the other so much and they aren't afraid to show it, they just don't know how. Albus would sacrifice the world for Scorpius and Scorpius would go through hell for Albus (COUGH.. ORPHEUS AND EURYDICE). And unlike Drarry, both are aware of their crushes on the other, they just don't want to ruin this perfect thing they have going on. The love they share is so deep and beautiful that it carrys its own magic, and when they do eventually get together (much earlier than Drarry would. Like 15) they won't make it a huge deal. Albus hates the attention he gets in Hogwarts already, and they are both so awkward around eachother in the oddest ways. It won't be a secret, they just won't actively tell people unless they ask. Also, unlike Drarry, Scorbus is gentle. They want to merge into eachother as much as they can, and become one person. They want to fuse, but obviously they can't, so they share sudden hugs and nervous smiles and the grazing of their hands while they walk so close to eachother they look attached by the shoulders. Both of them are so sweet and silly with the other, Albus specifically stepping out of his shell and letting himself be excited and touchy with Scorpius compared to being the quiet, angry "Squib".
Um... but yeah! They aren't the same... if you want me to make another one of these with a different couple I gladly will I'm passionate.

Intro Post
Hello! Welcome to my blog
Some Stuff about me:
I go by the names Oli and Miles(and also Leander sometimes but shhh)
I use they/xe/he pronouns
I’m greyromantic and acespec
I have several sideblogs
@mostly-minecraft-zvahl is where I put most of my non-fandom posts and non-Harry Potter fandom posts. The main fandom I am in there is Aphmau(as evidenced by the name) but I reblog a lot of other fandoms too
@canismajor-leonisminor is for HP posts I don’t want on my main blog
@my-tears-ricochet5 for (mostly Taylor Swift themed)music posting
@pjo-andsequels-confessions is my Percy Jackson(+extended universe) confession blog
I’m fine with both Pro- and Anti shippers interacting with my blogs
My original posts are all tagged #og and I mostly post about Harry Potter(Anti JKR)(I am literally transgender). I will sometimes reblog posts from other fandoms
My art is tagged #my art, obviously
I have a cat named Gracie and she is a silly goober, you may see photos of her on here tagged #gracie the cat
Heres the link to my Ao3
The only WIP I’m currently trying to update is Time Rewound, a next gen time travels to Grimmauld Place fic(there is Scorbus but it’s minor)
I mostly write ficlets/microfics about Sirius Black
less important stuff(my main ships and fandom opinions, and my userboxes) under the cut
A little bit about my fandom opinions and ships
Sirius is my favorite character
I’m a stan of Albus Dumbledore
I am a big fan of the seven books(I do in fact love HP canon), but I’m not a canon purist who thinks you shouldn’t HC characters as queer, or that femme/not a cis man Sirius is always bio-essentialist, or that it’s inherently misogynistic to prefer an m/m ship over an m/f ship
I’m a chronic multishipper, but I mostly post and write about Prongsfoot
I also ship Remadora and pretty much all of the canon ships as well
I hate adult Snape(I find him annoying) but acknowledge that he redeemed himself, and I’m chill with child/teenage Snape
I’m not really a fan of the popular Marauders fanon
I’m also Regulus critical and an Evan Rosier hater(UPDATE: I FUCKING HATE ROSEKILLER PLEASE DO NOT TALK ABOUT IT ON MY POSTS)
Peter Pettigrew is my babygirl✨🐀
I think the Marauders were bullies but I love them anyway
I prefer Evans sisters angst over Black brothers angst
Ron is my favorite Weasley
I’m a Percy apologist
I think Hermione was done dirty by the later books in the series, and not because she ended up with Ron
I love Harry whump
Okay we’re done
Goodbye, thanks for reading

Please don't expect consistent (and continuous) posting
(Look after yourselves!)
Hi!
I feel the need to make one of those intro posts because recently a few blogs started following me that seem to be more into the fanon interpretation of things, and I don't want anybody to get the wrong ideas about what to expect from this blog.
About me... I'm 29, she/her, pan/bi (I don't care which label), and demi (my, it took me so long to figure that out).. I used to be a judge but dropped out because of a myriad of reasons but mainly because of... well, depression. I cannot, for the life of me, remember how many letters there are in the alphabet, I love carrots but they make me nauseous, and my socks are more holes than fabric.
So... let's move to the important stuff.. JK sucks, and parts of the canon suck too - like the house elf stuff and her naming "skills" which are very telling, her fat shaming, and the anti-trans shit that is even written into the original source material. But for the most part, the characterization isn't one of them. So on this blog, I will defend the canon version of characters, flaws and all.
To make myself clear: hc characters as trans and writing characters as gay etc is great and I fully support that. What I mind, however, is the heteronormative, mysoginistic cliches we keep seeing under the guise of 'progressive' queer ships. If you not only change their gender or their height but also their personalities so that they fit heteronormative stereotypes that's problematic. Same goes for the casual racism going on in this fandom. Portraying non-white people as huge, buff guys with anger-issues is - you guessed it - problematic!
What to expect from this blog:
Me applauding the many great people out there. Do you even know how great you are???
Me geeking out, especially about the characters and ships I love most (and sometimes writing/sharing anti-posts about my own favs when I'm too fed up with the fanon version of them).
Me writing long-ass metas at two in the morning because that one post was the final straw.
Me brain-vomiting stuff into the void of the internet that really no one asked for and no one cares about.
Me ranting and contradicting myself.
Nuance - or at least, I try. But I'm just a person with biases, and I read the books through the lens of my own experiences, so yeah. And of course there's always a range, even when sticking to canon.
(I say I care about nuance, but you'll find me swaying to full-force apologism the next second - get used to it, I'm a hypocrite).
Some writing. Here's my ao3. I'm also working on a long wolfstar fic starting in 1971 and carrying all the way through to 1998. It's solely from Remus' s POV and I'm trying to pay attention to everything (!) in canon so that it makes sense with all the scenes we see in the books - although I wouldn't call wolfstar canon. I think itl'l be around 900k-1 million words in the end. Right now I'm at 950k but I need to add stuff, cut stuff and just generally work through it. I plan on starting to post it before I turn 30 (which will be in mid-December).
Remus/Sirius will always be my OTP, and I've made a post about why I think they make sense even from a canon perspective and with their canon personalities (not saying they are canon, but don't tell me I haven't read the books). But I do feel the need to point out that I disagree with most of the depictions I see nowadays in this fandom as the characters I fell in love with are barely recognoizable. I prefer post-PoA wolfstar (or AUs), but I think Hogwarts wolfstar can work. It's just indefinitely more difficult to make it work with their canon personalities. Btw, me loving wolfstar doesn't mean I negate the co-dependency James and Sirius have going on - which is obviously canon. I also love James and Sirius so much.
As for other ships... I love Scorbus, Jily, Hinny, Romione and Grindelore. And I love a whole bunch of characters regardless of any ships, including but not limited to Ron, Dumbledore, Ginny, Fleur, Luna, McGonagall, Hermione and Scorpius. And I'm not anti Tonks - I'm just anti Remadora because I think they both deserve better. But it is what it is, jk wrote that and for what it's worth I do think Remus loved her in some way.
I can get very passionate about fictional characters, but I'm an adult, and I know they're fictional. And I believe I can take criticism, so if there's anything on your mind...
It's always my personal opinion I'm talking about; I don't think I'm some kind of hp authority, but that goes without saying.
What not to expect from this blog:
Art (I reblog, of course, but you don't want me to draw, believe me).
Dumbledore hate / Remus hate (don't confuse with criticism, I'm all for criticism). No ATYD hate either. I have my issues with it, but it's not the author's fault it has become the fandom's new rulebook.
Me dumbing down James and Sirius, etc.
Me abandoning James and Peter. But, sorry not sorry (and wolfstar aside), I will keep pushing my "Remus and Sirius were close friends at Hogwarts" agenda (but as were Remus and James, obviously, and Remus and Peter, and so on, with James and Sirius being inseparable).
Jegulus/Slytherin skittles stuff. If that's your thing, that's fine, but it isn't mine.
Me keeping it short.
I'm always happy to discuss stuff! :)
Most important information for last, right? If I speak ill about Remus, it is always with the most love possible. I keep saying Sirius is my favorite character, but he has a lot of fans out there, and avoidant, self-loathing, passive-aggressive, manipulative, ruthless, but also smart, brave, kind, loyal, empathetic, thoughtful and selfless (yes, you read that correctly) Remus holds a special place in my heart.

an ask from @spacecadette on this game has, i regret to say, made me go feral... the rest of the answers to your questions are coming in the queue but let's dive into the one i thought deserved its own post:
say something about your ships that you want to say!
so... a musing on the five couples i said i'd play this ask game with - and then, for additional fun, some i didn't - on a crucial question:
are they barbie people or oppenheimer people?
answers under the cut:
bellamort: lord voldemort was definitely not traumatised by the second world war and it's ridiculous to suggest otherwise. they're seeing oppenheimer, and bella only has to hold his hand for about half of it.
riddledore: barbie. absolutely no doubt about it.
snack: they were going to go and see oppenheimer but they had an argument which culminated in them fucking over the kitchen table and missed the showing.
snapemort: they do the double, because it's important to be thorough, and they only have three or four arguments on which film to see first.
tomarry: front of the line for barbie. each of them thinks the other is the ken in their relationship.
-
barty crouch jr/voldemort: oppenheimer.
deamus: dean was the art director for barbie. they're at the premiere. seamus reports back to anyone who'll listen that ryan gosling is an angel.
dramione: they do the double. draco thinks both films are about the dangers of mixing with muggles. they break up for the sixth time that month.
drarry: barbie. draco is assumed to be in costume by the staff at the cinema.
dron: they're both hooked on the fourth test and don't leave the house for four days.
fleurmione: omar el zohairy's feathers, followed by barbie.
flonks: barbie, but they spent the entire time making out.
grindeldore: oppenheimer, obviously.
harmony: are a terrible couple who loathe spending time with each other. oppenheimer.
hinny: barbie. james announces, furiously, that this means he can never go to see it now, because harry loved it so much.
jegulus: i don't know her, sorry.
jily: the vhs of when harry met sally they've had since 1991.
linny: indiana jones, which luna thinks is a documentary.
lucissa: 'we've never heard of a cinema and the implication that you saw us watching gentlemen prefer blondes at the curzon last friday is insulting.'
marge dursley/dolores umbridge: neither, they're at a dog show.
minerva mcgonagall/wilhelmina grubby-plank: they're still recovering at their house on mull from the reeling at filius' wedding.
pavender: do you even need to ask?
poppy pomfrey/pomona sprout: barbie.
prongsfoot: mission impossible.
remadora: they do the double, see barbie first, love it, get bored halfway through oppenheimer, get arrested for public indecency.
romione: initially attempting to be cerebral, they go to see asteroid city, despite the fact that ron truly does not fuck with wes anderson. they come back the next day, bicker over popcorn choices, see barbie, and have a wonderful time.
ronarry: barbie, in matching hot pink tracksuits.
scorbus: they were going to see barbie. they forgot.
snarry: severus mysteriously has potions which need finishing whenever there's a showing of either.
snily: after some spectacular arguing, they do the double, oppenheimer first. severus pretends he didn't like barbie more.
snucius: la traviata at the royal opera house, barbie - separately - the following day.
taco: barbie. in this case both draco and tom understand inherently that draco is the ken.
tombraxas: barbie. abraxas thinks the costuming is exquisite. tom just thinks it's nice the colour saturation means you can see the film.
wolfstar: they are on holiday over opening weekend. they see barbie in spanish. remus cries.
#barbenheimer#and all the harry potter ships i care to think of#unhinged and deranged ships#imagine how bad this would be if i didn't take elvanse

Wizard Hearts 2020 Survey
Between September 1 and December 31 I took part in the @gameofdrarry Wizard Hearts fic reading fest playing for Team Vanaheim. The four suits of cards (and an optional Smut suit) had a trope assigned to each card and the goal was to read and comment on fics we haven’t read before. We also had monthly team assignments (I’ve linked the Vanaheim team assignments here).
For this survey, we had the option to answer 13 of 18 questions. As this will be long, I’ll continue under the cut.
But, before I get to the survey, I’d like to take the opportunity to thank the mods for all their hard work checking our comments and spreadsheets, keeping track of points, creating and checking our assignments, and answering all the questions asked on the Discord Server ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
1.What was the first fic you read for the game/fest? Why did you choose it?
The Four Doors by fluxweed. This was a story I had planned to read for a while and was actually mid-story when I realised, ‘hey, this works for 5♦️ Memory Loss.’ This was such an interesting story (I highly recommend!) and I loved the Legilimency aspects of it as well as how the relationship between Harry and Draco developed. After the fact, I was kicking myself that I didn’t use this for Smut Suit Jack ‘Power Dynamics’ because this would have been perfect for that trope and I struggled to find another suitable fic for that trope.
2. What was the last fic you read for the game/fest? How did it feel reading 52+ fics?
Tell me the end at the beginning by harryromper. I’m a big fan of harryromper’s stories and am still making my way through their posted works, so of course I was thrilled to read this for A❤️ Healer!Draco. This story has an amazing Draco. He’s hot AF in his three-piece suits, swears in French, and the staff at St Mungo’s call him McFrosty. This was written for 25 Days of Draco and Harry 2018 and harryromper has just finished a new story for this year’s fest which I can’t wait to go and read.
I read the 52 card regular deck, the smut suit, as well as 16 Go Squid fics, so I read 81 fics in total for this fest. But I also read a lot more than that during the fest including fics that didn’t qualify for the cards or were non-Drarry (I went on a Jeddy, Scorbus and Charlie Weasley bender mid-fest).
I’d say this fest made me seek out fics that I otherwise wouldn’t have found, and it’s definitely made me a better commenter. I wouldn’t say that I read any more than usual, but I did take notes while reading so I could leave a detailed comment at the end. One side-effect of this fest is that my MFL list has grown exponentially because I added everything from the Thrice Fic List, the remaining fics from the Go Squid List and anything interesting that I found while searching for fics to fit the tropes.
3. What's a fic you think is a hidden gem and deserves more hype?
Stand Back: I’m About to Perform Archaeology by Blowfish_Diaries I can’t say enough good things about this fic. I couldn’t read it for the cards because I’d already read it and flailed in the comments so I rec’d it for Go Squid. It’s set during Eighth Year and has the perfect combination of humour, snark, banter, Harry and Draco bonding over Harry’s shitty childhood, drinking and party games, pining, and Hung!Harry. I read this more than six months ago and I still can’t stop thinking about it. Go and read it!
Passion Cake by ICMezzo This fic was both hilarious and beautifully written. I loved it so much I immediately wrote a rec for it. I adored Baker!Draco and his process for baking. I’m still cracking up at Harry almost serving a passion-inducing cake at Teddy’s birthday.
Haunt the corner of my eye by harryromper. This was such a gorgeous read. I’ve read several other pieces by haryromper and just knew this would be amazing (and it was). I loved the way the story unraveled and I adore fics set inside Grimmauld Place.
4. What was your strategy for choosing fic/tropes for your reading list? Was there a fic/trope you found you simply couldn’t resist?
With a few exceptions, I started with the major cards so I’d always be able to contribute towards my team’s Royal Flush hand each week. Initially I tried to pick fics that were 50k+ and that qualified for the bonus box (Fest fic for ♣️, Multi-chap for ❤️, Before 2014 for ♦️). Eventually I had to lower the word count so I could finish the deck, but most fics I read were at least 10k+. I also tried to read something each of my teammates had written.
I’d be hard-pressed to pick just one trope I couldn’t resist, but some of my faves included: Eighth Year, Bed Sharing, Roommates, Mutual Pining, Auror Partners.
5. Was there a trope that you’ve read a lot of previously that you found uniquely presented?
Three Boxes and a Scrapbook by dracogotgame. I’ve read a fair number of bonding fics and the usual format is: Draco & Harry fighting, bonding incident, getting used to the bond, and resolution (whether that be severing the bond or living with it). I loved how dracogotgame mixed it up. We started with Harry and Draco getting divorced and Draco heading off to France. Then we see the after-effects of a year together and learn about the bond through flashbacks (many as part of the scrapbook photos). The story is so beautifully presented and I loved Bill’s presence in Harry’s life.
6. What's a line from a fic that you can't stop thinking about?
There’s a passage from Writcraft’s Slice of Life that I can’t stop thinking about:
“Harry sometimes feels like those discarded jam tarts. The ones that nobody else wanted, not perfect enough to bring out in front of guests.”
This gets me every time. It’s such a perfect metaphor to describe Harry’s life at that time and it makes me tear up every time I think about it. Then the jam tarts are woven throughout the entire fic and it’s just perfect and gorgeous. I made a rec for this fic.
Also, Harry’s love confession during Names and Dreams of Futures Past by KittyAug has stayed with me since I read the fic. I can’t stop thinking about it. The whole scene was so perfect and emotional. I don’t want to spoil it so I won’t carry on, but I do recommend it.
8. Was there a trope you’ve never read or heard of before? What did you think?
OMG yes. Magic Healing Cock was a trope I’d never heard of and yet I could immediately think of the perfect fic for it, which unfortunately I had already read, To Be Out of Your Own (and consumed by another) by Cassiara. I ended up reading The Conquering of Harry Potter’s Virginity by FantasyFiend09 which was a fun story. Surprisingly, while reading for the other tropes, I encountered several more fics that could fill the Magic Healing Cock trope. I dunno, maybe I should make a rec list or something 🤣
9. Which trope did you read that pleasantly surprised you?
I was pleasantly surprised by Vampire!fic. I love vampire stories. I love Drarry (obviously). But I haven’t read much vampire Drarry. I read Midnight in the City of a Hundred Spires by Shiftylinguini and it was sooooo good. The way they characterised vampire!Draco felt so authentic and I loved the magical theory surrounding Harry and the consequences of him being a Horcrux for so many years.
10. Is there a fic that made you laugh out loud?
Ad Pavonem by Lomonaaeren, which fittingly I read for Crack!fic. Harry as a peacock is hilarious and the whole story is so well written. I love it when an author treats crack seriously and really goes for it. I appreciated the way the story was told through both peacock-Harry’s POV (a perfect blend of animal instinct yet distinctly Harry) and Draco’s POV (I adored his observations of the peculiar peacock and later his unique understanding of peacock-Harry). I made a rec for this here.
11. What is your favourite trope and why?
It’s really hard for me to pick just one, but if I had to choose I’d go with Hogwarts Eighth Year. I love it when barriers are broken down through party games and inter-house unity, and of course I adore roommates and bedsharing. Insert humour, snark and banter, plus magical theory and I’m all in. I think at least 11 of the fics I read for the fest were set in Eighth Year.
12. Which tropes did you skip? Would you be willing to share why? If you didn’t skip a trope, was there one that gave you pause?
I considered using a wildcard in place of Smut Suit Jack: Power Dynamics. One of the things I really love about Drarry is how evenly matched they are, like the opposite sides of a coin: light and dark, magically powerful and wild vs controlled and precise. They’ve both caused each other pain and both have things to apologise for. So a power imbalance takes away what I love about Drarry and it sort of rubs me the wrong way. Balance, Imperfect by bixgirl1 would have been a perfect fit for this trope and explores the power imbalance within a Healer/Patient relationship beautifully and with sensitivity, but I’d already read it and commented. I ended up reading Rebuilding Draco Malfoy by khasael, which I found through sitp’s awesome rec lists, and I did enjoy reading it.
15. Which suit did you have the most fun reading? Why?
I enjoyed all the suits. But, if I had to pick one, I’d have to go with hearts. There are so many tropes I love in that suit including Room of Requirement, Grimmauld Place, Powerful!Harry, Crack!fic, Established Relationship, Veela, and Dragons. There were so many fics I wanted to read (and added many to my MFL list) but I tried to choose those which were multi-chaptered for the bonus point.
18. Do you have any feedback for the mods of the game/fest? Would you be interested in playing again if the opportunity arose? Share more info about your experience.
Overall I really enjoyed the fest. One complaint would be that the bonus box for Spades was “not on AO3” and I refuse to read stuff not on AO3 because: 1) I don’t want to have to create an account anywhere else, and 2) I really like the formatting (especially for mobile viewing) and tagging way better on AO3. So I would prefer if there was a different bonus option next time, but of course that’s up to you.
I really enjoyed the team activities, but it was a struggle to fit them in with all the reading, commenting and getting my own writing done. Maybe we could do with one or two less next time?
I would definitely play again, but not necessarily next year. This was a big game to play and I didn’t sign up for Fan Fair commenting because it would have felt like too much (of course I realise now I could have possibly double-dipped and used my comment for both fests). So I may play again if it’s offered next year, but I also may sit a year out. I’ll have to see where I’m at closer to September. But I would be intrigued if the tropes were mixed up a bit. I don’t mind repeats but maybe swap some out. It seemed a bit repetitive to have both Soulmates and Soulmarks, and there’s already an element of Power Dynamics with BDSM and A/B/O. I’d love to see Polyamorous Sex, Legilimency, Wandlore, Sentient Houses, Curse-Breakers (or Unspeakables).

cursed child broadway, feb. 23, 2020
third time seeing cc in three months for one reason: my sister is, in her words, “in love with joey labrasca” (karl). she thinks he’s absolutely perfect. this past week i’ve endured her talking about how hot he is. i mean, i’ve gotten quite a bit of good lily luna material for my fics now, but at what expense? did i need to know that joey’s (very mild) acne made him look handsomer? did i need to know about how deep his eyes are? did I?
i teased her about what she’d do if he wasn’t on, and she said she’d be so upset.
we get to the theatre, i look at the cast…and james romney was karl.
my sister was shocked. the love of her life, who most likely has forgotten about her existence, wasn’t there for what looks to be our final time seeing the year 2 cast. she was devastated.
we also got to see antoinette robinson as hermione and tom patrick stephens as ron! and sarita amani nash was myrtle!! and kimberly dodson as polly!!
james!karl was great and i will bombard my sister with as much james romney content as i can in order to piss her off further :)
patrick du laney was the sorting hat and aaron bartz was the station master. we actually saw aaron walking into the theatre as we waited outside for part 2. he definitely has the draco swagger.
anyway let’s get to the good stuff!
~james snyder as harry! great as usual. i don’t think he did much differently than last time, or if he did it wasn’t very noticeable.
~diane davis as ginny – same w james. i think she held on to albus longer when they hug in godric’s hollow this time?
~jonno roberts as draco: okay this guy singlehandedly inspired me to start a fic back in december (that has…….yet to be finished………) with how his draco and bubba’s scorpius behaved and this was no exception. idk whether his mic got caught on something or if he was really bringing it all out, but when he shoves scorpius’s head against his desk in the dark world, he GROWLED the “you do NOT use her name in vain” line ???? i’ve never heard him say it like that, it’s usually more of a hiss. idk how to describe how he said it other than “growl.” almost like an animal.
then when he said “do it safely, i can’t lose you too” he’s looking directly at scorpius. it’s different from how i’m used to seeing him and closer how i picture him saying it; usually he’s looking away, like he’s afraid of showing vulnerability to scorpius. but here, with him looking directly at him, and said with so much emotion and love, even in such a dark place…oOOF
he refused to let go of scorpius when they met again in godric’s hollow. my heart…..always one arm around scorpius’s shoulders, or one hand on his chest, as scorpius clings on to him.
~kimberly!polly SMILED and giggled when she stepped in blood? “oh, potter, i’ve got blood on my shoe!” *delighted* and then as the staircase rolled away, she turned on her stomach to gaze down at scorpius, grinning flirtatiously. this is my second time seeing her as polly, but from what i remember, katherine!polly wasn’t as sadistic in the dark au as she was. i personally prefer kimberly!polly.
~sarita!myrtle!! like w kimberly!polly this is my second time seeing sarita!myrtle and i don’t really remember much about lauren!myrtle to compare, but sarita!myrtle was hilarious. she got a round of applause just for appearing. “girls….*turns around, stares directly @ albus* AND BOYS” *albus turns around, confused, as if she’s talking to someone behind him* UGHHH she’s so good and she’ll absolutely kill it as (main) polly, i can feel it.
~this was my first time seeing jack pravda as young harry! his voice is deeper than zell’s, and he was so adorably confused in the graveyard scene. “why are there so many flowers?”
~antoinette!hermione was a lot less playful than jenny!hermione. she does try for comedic effect, but she’s a bit more serious overall. she was so scary in the first timeline! when she waves her wand to dismiss the class and she’s standing all alone, she looks out with such a distant, despairing expression, then composes herself immediately.
~tom!ron was very funny! again, my issue with ron in cc comes down to how he was written. he may have been relegated to shitty comic relief (why……is one of the first things he says……a fart joke…..?), but it’s up to the actors do what they can to flesh out some semblance of a likeable character from the bs that the script gave us. and tom!ron was great!! he’s not as…dopey? dorky? as matt!ron, who’s very funny but a bit—childish? i guess? tom!ron feels more like an adult who still has a childish sense of humor, if that makes sense.
~ROMIONE. watching a new take on romione was like falling in love w romione all over again. tom/antoinette was a very loving pair. jenny/matt tease each other a lot more, but tom/antoinette are more tactile. their kiss was so sweet
~there’s hardly any love for sara farb’s delphi for some reason. i’m not sure why; her shift from delphi diggory to delphi riddle is so chilling. delphi diggory has a high pitched voice and is really goofy around albus. scorpius absolutely hates her lmao. as soon as she switches, her voice drops to a low growl and she’s downright terrifying. i’m sad to see her go!
~WILL CARLYON. is it possible to fall in love with the portrayal of a character in a handful of scenes? he’s got like five lines total but oh my god. one thing a lot of people note about nicholas!albus is the way he’s so obviously a fourteen-year-old child. will’s james sirius potter is SUCH a thirteen-year-old in the opening scene…it’s somewhat disconcerting watching this very-obviously-twenty-something-year-old man flap his arms going “WATCH OUTTT FOR THE THESTTRRAAAAAAALS” but it works? it’s believable?? he’s so close with lily luna. this is my third time seeing him and every time he pretends to pounce on her and hug her during the thestral line i fall in love?? ginny scolds him and he is sheepish, but he won’t stop making the troll face at albus. “SLITHERING SLYTHERIN STOP WITH YOUR DITHERING” *smacks albus*
~yeah i promised jsp content and i’m fucking delivering
~he’s sO excited watching albus get sorted. when the hat goes “SLYTHERIN” he’s absolutely shocked. he’s confused. he just stares at albus, confused, until yann (jonathan gordon, who once again gives us a delightfully dislikable yann) says some shit and james just turns to him and swats his hand at him. he genuinely looked ready to fight yann. i couldn’t tell but i think he tells him to stop?? it was hard to hear but his mouth definitely moved, i think to tell yann to cut it out.
~the scene with the students eavesdropping on mcgonagall’s meeting with the parents. oh my god i don’t think he did anything that much differently than last time but i need to talk about this because i didn’t do it justice in my last recap.
~they sit on the stairs (iirc) top to bottom craig, yann, karl, rose, james. i’m gonna ignore craig, yann, and karl since there are some serious family feels going on w rose and james
~jsp and rose begin the scene smiling, snickering as they hear that albus and scorpius fucked up. “ahaha they got into deep shit” but then when they learn that they wrote rose and hugo (??whom??) out of time and then killed harry, their faces fall. james’s eyes become vacant, far-off as he learns what happened to his brother. his breathing becomes heavier and faster until he’s a few breaths from hyperventilating. he leans his forehead against the stairwell/banister and shakes his head, mouthing/whispering “no…no…”
~nadia brown’s rose is such a little shit but she’s so good in this scene. when she learns that she didn’t exist in the new timeline, she grabs james’s shoulder and he grabs her hand. they don’t let go for the rest of the scene.
~i’m like half convinced that will got the part because of his amazingly expressive eyebrows. i think my sister calls it “back row acting?” his eyebrows can probably be seen from the back row. after the mcgonagall scene is over he sits on the stairs, raising one eyebrow at rose and hermione, then goes back to reading the scroll.
~i didn’t mean for this to become a will carlyon fan account but he deserves it. according to nicholas he’s the biggest potterhead in the cast. he’s a ravenclaw. he can sing. he’s so fucking valid and i’m so glad he’s staying for year 3. he’s got two followers on youtube and one of them is me. please guys like no one talks about him and i’ll fill this niche. same with the lovely sarita. she’s so kind and so beautiful and so talented she can sing so well and she gives everything during wand dance listen i spent the beginning of this thing making fun of my sister for liking joey so much but sarita……..
~cc nyc said straight girl/lesbian solidarity
~anyway…
~nicholas podany as albus. so. Many. Tears. i didn’t realize this before but his whole body trembles when he cries?? i first noticed this when he and harry were in the slytherin common room. i was like “are his pajamas vibrating?? is this an optical illusion (they’re striped pajamas)???” no, his whole body was shaking with suppressed crying. once i noticed i couldn’t un-notice and this continued for the rest of the show.
~bubba weiler’s scorpius didn’t seem much different from usual? i could go on about him but….that’s what my unfinished fic is for……one day……….
~okay so this is where i elaborate on the scorbus moments that made me want to YEET myself off the roof of the theatre (if you had to make sense of my typos on discord: i am Sorry)
~the slytherin dorm scene: scorpius tickles albus to wake him up. he then makes himself comfortable on albus’s bed and won’t stop rubbing and patting his thigh.
~in addition to being austistic, bubba!scorp is bisexual (jon case would be proud) and here is PROOF: to flirt, bubba!scorpius leans against objects, sprawls his body out, plays with his hair, etc all extremely cheesy, greasy, suave moves. he blows a kiss to polly as he’s sprawled across the stairs. when he ROLLS down the stairs (looked painful…) to see rose at the end, he plays with his hair, shoots her a finger gun (further proof he’s bi), and lowers his voice. but the comparison i need to highlight is THIS: when he says rose smells like bread, (1) he leans against the suitcases, trying to look suave, and (2) his face is instant regret. he silently bends back and mouths “WHAT WHY BREAD?? WHAT??? WHY???” and now…when he delivers his “ENGORGIMPRESSED” line to albus, he (1) leans against the sink, (2) grins, lowering his voice, and when the pun doesn’t land, (3) his face immediately falls, instant regret, the literal definition of “oH MY GOD WHAT WHY DID I JUST SAY THAT” the same expression he had when rose wasn’t impressed. coincidence? i think NOT. he’s trying so hard to flirt but he has no idea how to interact w people im --
~delphi in the church: when the adults have all surrounded delphi with their magic in the center of the stage, albus, ginny, and scorpius are huddled together. scorpius is behind albus, clutching his shoulder and hand. albus breaks free for “SHE’S A MURDERER I’VE SEEN HER MURDER” (an underappreciated line imo) and scorpius just watches him, clearly wanting to help but not knowing how
~the final hug. my initial, endorphin-fueled reaction was, verbatim: “THE FUNAL HUG NSCWR SEEN IR LAST SO LLNG NEVER SAW NICJ HUG HIM BACK NOSES ALMOST TOYCHONF.” not even this is enough to convey my reaction to the final hug, but i’ll try my best to transcribe it.
scorpius: runs up the stairs, grabs albus into a hug
albus: stunned for a moment, then wraps his arms around scorpius’s shoulders and hugs him back, burying his face into the crook of scorpius’s neck. this is the first time i’ve seen him hug back, at least so fiercely. they stand there for a good 3-5 seconds, then albus says, quietly, “what’s this? i thought we didn’t hug.”
scorpius, pulling back but still close to albus: “i wasn’t sure whether we should…” *looks up at albus, literal inches from his face* “in this new version of us…” *more gazing into each other’s eyes for a few seconds*
albus: “well…you better ask rose if it’s the right thing to do…” he sounded unsure? not as playful as before?
scorpius: *stares at albus for a few seconds* “a..aaha………..yeah right!”
he turns around and runs down the stairs. albus goes “i’ll see you at dinner!” and scorpius turns around, smiles at him, and walks off, albus grinning and gazing so lovingly as he departs i’m gonna c r y
i can’t think of anything else to say about the show itself? but my sister has given me a lot of material so i’m gonna talk about what went on with her because it’s relevant to our stage door interactions.
as we ate, she described how she would rewrite cc. she has valid and absolutely invalid suggestions. she would keep the father/son issues, make scorbus canon, remove or rewrite rose, and rewrite delphi’s backstory (valid). she would remove the sorting hat and the dark timeline (not valid).
during the intermission between acts 3 and 4, we started looking through the playbill and she started gossiping/venting about how much she hates the people in her school’s theatre (valid, since they’re bullying assholes). i brought up a meme i sent her that i saw on twitter about how no high school theatre guys can sing, act, dance, and not be sexist. somehow this discussion went back to nicholas podany? she was like, “i’ve been listening to his songs and deep blue is a low-key bop.” i asked if she heard his most recent song, telling myself. she hadn’t and she immediately went to soundcloud to listen to it. her reaction was PRICELESS. she absolutely adored it. she was dancing in her seat, going “okay this is actually really good??” like ofc it is? i don’t recommend bad songs? she tried to replay it but then her data ran out and the lyric theatre wifi is shit so she got very upset. then the lights turned off and she reluctantly took out her earbuds.
there was a little girl (around 6-7ish, i’d say) in the very first row dressed as hermione for part one--complete with a doll and a broom. for part two she was wearing a hedwig costume that looked homemade! she was very adorable, and bubba waved hello to her when he came for the curtain call.
stage door:
~sarita came out first! we told her that this was our third time at the show and second time seeing her. i congratulated her on being cast as polly and she was so happy! dare i say…..loml
~tom and antoinette were so happy to have been the first cover romione we saw! tom was like “ah, you saw the best ron (himself)!” we were in front of a man from the uk who had seen the london show five times, and he and tom struck up a conversation about where they were from.
~nadia brown was so happy to see us! she didn’t remember us lmao but she’s so friendly
~edward james hyland (amos/dumbledore) was…politically campaigning?? the people in front of us were from vermont and he was like “ah…vermont…do you support bernie??” just like that. they were caught off guard but i think they gave an affirmative answer, and he was like “and if he doesn’t get the nomination…?” they were still caught off guard and he just went “you’ll vote blue, right? cause it’s the right thing to do….?” idk i’m firmly liberal but i thought this was a weird place to get political but okay
~EVERYONE was telling nicholas podany about how much they love telling myself. he was telling the people in front of us about how it was mastered/mixed by solange’s producer(?) and my sister and i exchanged :0 looks. she was getting shy, but i was like “tell him! he’ll love to talk about it, i guarantee it!” because even though i produce 0 content, i *am* an artist and i *do* know that we artists love validation
~so he came to us and she started talking about his songs! we’re fortunate that it was a more rock-y song so we’re…able to sound like we know what we’re talking about lmao. growing up our mom would play us classical music (check out beethoven’s wig yo) and our dad would play us the ramones. one of my earliest memories was arguing with my sister (probably around 4 at the time) about the lyrics to “i wanna be sedated” ahh… (she was correct btw)
~(don’t argue with me the ramones may not be poets but they’re valid)
~i was right! he was SO excited to talk to us!! my sister complimented the song and the production. she said “i ADORE your new song!! it’s a high key bop!” and he broke into the BIGGEST smile. she was like “i’m gonna play it until i hate it” and he said something along the lines of “i was in the studio listening to it nonstop for 8(??) hours i can’t stand it.” he was talking about how he made the song with his “own scorpius” but i forgot who…he said scorpius and my mind blanked lmao. he’s brought this person up before in interviews so i can probably find it. she complimented the fact that it was different from his usual stuff and he told us about how he had a rock band in high school. @nick where tf is your rock content pls deliver
~i actually spoke this time and cut in to tell him about how she was trying to listen to it on repeat but the signal gave out. she was trying to tell me to shut up but it’s my legal duty as the older sister to embarrass her.
me: “I told her about your song during the intermission—”
her: “don’t!”
me: “no, nO, i told her and she was listening and then she ran out of data—”
him: “aaAa noo!”
her: “I listened to it!”
~then i told him that we loved seeing how he played albus and that we’re going to miss him, that we were going to see the cast change show but we couldn’t get tickets (i kindly left off the reason why), and he was so sweet about it *clenches heart* he told us how much he loves being able to experience this, that we’ll be so lucky to have james romney take over, etc etc i kinda wasn’t listening bc I was too emo, but I remember going “…but I don’t want to say goodbye…” and he just. gave me a sad look like “I know.” there was so much pity in his expression. why is he leaving us.
~the uk guy behind us was talking about how he’d seen the london year 3 and 4. nicholas was like “oh, joe and dom? yeah i’ve spoken to joe and dom—wait, no, i haven’t met dom? i know he has an impressive social media presence” and they started talking about how different actors bring different things to albus and how the show allows them to explore different aspects to their characters and he just…wasn’t making any of this any easier for me lmao i’m mourning the loss of nick!albus and it’s not even march
~i feel bad that we weren’t able to speak with fiona reid (petunia/umbridge) because nicholas was talking to us.
~jonno roberts. this was the first time i’ve interacted w him at sd. his draco has made such an impact on me, he’s my favorite actor in the show, and what do i say? what great words come out of my mouth? “hi you were great.” my sister KICKED me with her heeled boots. good thing i’m a lesbian because my doc martens protected my feet from the force of her anger.
~james snyder was enraptured in conversation with the people in front of us and just took our playbills to sign as he spoke with them. then he went “hi,” passed over us to talk to the guy behind us. my sister was like “you were great!”
~tbh sd was kinda messy bc we were at the end of the line and the barrier things didn’t allow for the actors to get enough room to interact with the fans at the back. also jonno was standing there and he’s not a small man.
~saw several male actors leaving sd, waving goodbye at us and just walking away. MOOD. i was exhausted and i wasn’t the one running around on stage!

writer ‘this or that’ tag game
i’m so late to this but thank you @xpectopatronerd and @littlerose13writes for the tags!
write late at night or early in the morning | (100% a night owl! i think i could probably count the number of times i’ve written actual words in the morning on one hand. i’m way more productive in the evening/night)
prefer dialogue or descriptions | (i really love both! i think i find dialogue slightly easier to write and descriptions slightly preferable to read, but i couldn’t pick one over the other)
drink caffeine or I’ll stick with water | (my veins are filled with coffee and squash in basically equal measure)
loves prompts or prefers to choose yourself | (i tend to just go with whatever pops up in my brain!)
stickler for canon or preference for au | (AUs are definitely fun to read but i am very fond of the wizarding world and existing CC canon so that’s where i tend to base my own writing)
one-shots or multi-chapters | (this is too hard to choose! for reading i guess i slightly prefer one-shots because obviously you can consume more of them in a shorter time, but i’m deep in the multi-chapter writing mode atm!)
won’t take on more than one project at once or constantly juggling several | (i’m a poor multi-tasker! in the past i’ve taken breaks from my multi-chapter to focus on another smaller project, but i’ll complete that before going back - i couldn’t switch between multiple incomplete projects at a time)
abandoned fics or completionist | (i have a couple of dormant (not entirely abandoned) wips in my google docs but i finish fics before posting so i don’t leave them abandoned midway)
gen fics or ship-first fics | (probably ship-first? but i only really write and read in the scorbus fandom anyway so maybe if i branched out that would change? i’m always happy to read or write fics where scorbus aren’t together yet though!)
pwp or plot-heavy | (plot please! not necessarily a complicated one, but i like to have a bit of an arc throughout a fic, even just for a short one-shot)
first person or third person | (i don’t mind first person sometimes, and i’ve read some great original fiction in first (or even second!) person, but i think they are harder to get right, so i tend to prefer third)
angst or happy endings | (both? it depends on the fic, and i don’t mind a sad/angsty ending if it fits the story! i think i just prefer endings to be satisfying - if they tie up all the loose ends and bring things to an appropriate conclusion then that works for me!)
ff.net or AO3 | (i’ve never used anything other than AO3!)
crossovers or one fandom only | (i don’t mind a crossover au to read, but i don’t really see myself writing one)
friends to lovers or enemies to lovers | (voting friends to lovers here because i think it generally lends itself to healthier relationship portrayals, but i’m not opposed to enemies if it’s done well!)
slowburn or they’re together from the start | (can’t say no to a good getting-together!)
i was so slow to do this that i think most people i follow have already been tagged, but if you want to have a go and haven’t been tagged officially, consider this your tag!

Cursed child year 3 review
I don’t know if anyone cares or even reads these anymore, but I thought why not.
On Saturday the 4th May I saw Harry Potter and the cursed child in London for the second time ever (yeah I know I’m late posting this 😂) I missed this play so much since I last saw it in 2017 and it was 100% worth the trip. This play is just so amazing and never fails to amaze me.
The first time I saw the play the original London cast still played and it was really something special to watch them. So I was excited to see a different cast for the first time as I’m just very used to the original one.
This time I saw the 3rd year cast and thought I give a little review about this cast too and compare their interpretations with the ones of the original cast I saw the first time.
This time I knew what to expect, but the stage affects still managed to totally blow me away (AGAIN). I don’t know how they do it, the whole play is so beautifully choreographed and designed. It’s just magical. No wonder they won so many Olivier and Tony Awards. The production value of this play is simply superb. I know I should be over this, but as it’s my second time seeing the show after a long time in person, it still got me again.
I still love this story so much and it’s just so beautifully written. The script really shines when it’s performed on stage and gives the script a whole other dimension. Although the entire play is over 5 hours long (which is quite some time sitting in a theatre), I was hooked the entire time and there wasn’t even one minute I was bored (I know, no surprise considering how much I love it).
As good as the play may be the experience is still very dependent on the cast. Without a good cast not even a good script and good special effects can save the story. So I will move on to one of the most important parts of cursed child: the actors.
Overall the year 3 cast is really great. As a whole I wasn’t into this cast as much as I was into the original one due to some things I will explain below, but I think they did an amazing job and told the story very well. All of them are great actors and totally deserve to be in this play. Individually a lot were really extraordinary and as good or even better than the first cast I saw, but in comparison to the original cast their interpretations didn’t perfectly blend together as well, which isn’t any of their faults. I hope in year 4 cast this gets better as the actors I thought fitted together very well will stay and some of the other actors will go.
Harry Potter - Jamie Ballard
I really loved Jamie Ballard as Harry. He had one of the hardest jobs as Jamie Parker is one of my favorite original cast members, but he did really great. At fists in act one I needed some time to get used to him (as he looks and talks very differently from Parker) and he was a bit stiff at the start (and the pacing was a little bit off). In the blanket scene I felt he could do more (as it’s my favorite scene from Jamie Parker) and I wasn’t really sure what to think of him after act one (although his Scorpius was amazing, he nailed imitating Jonathan).
But then act 2 happened and he really stepped up his game. In the last three Acts he was simply amazing and I got more used to his Harry and how different he is from Jamie Parker. Ballard isn’t as emotional/loud and as hot headed, but I really enjoyed his more softer but still emotional take on the role. As much as I love Parker he tended to be very rough at times and Ballard’s softer approach worked really great and was a new breath of air. He made Harry his own and didn’t just copy the actors before him. After act 2 I was 100% sold and in love with his Harry. He isn’t as much book Harry as Jamie Parker is (he is just the most perfect book Harry adaptation ever), but his own version of Harry worked really great in the play and made Harry very sympathetic and lovable. That’s why theatre is so great, it gives us many different interpretations of one character and let us see the same character in a different light.
Albus Potter - Joe Idris-Roberts
I really liked Joe as Albus. He wasn’t one of my favorites from this cast, but he was good. Some parts worked really well with him especially Albus‘ more calm and dry moments (he gets Albus‘ dry humor spot on). His Albus is more collected and logical than Sam Clemmett‘s and his leader qualities really shine through.
Sadly the more emotional scenes didn’t work as well for him. The blanket scene could have been more emotional from him and especially the library scene lacked something. In this scene Albus really has to be sorry and understand Scorpius better. It’s a very emotional scene and Jonathan really gave it his all. Joe‘s restrained reaction did fit to his interpretation of Albus but not really to Jonathan‘s Scorpius or the atmosphere of the scene.
His chemistry with Jamie Ballard was fine and you could feel that they mean a lot to each other although there could have been a little bit more from Joe‘s side too.
Sam didn’t show Albus as much as a leader, but his emotional scenes were always spot on. Personally I see Albus more as a hot headed emotional character that makes decisions without thinking about it properly. He is much like Harry in this regard and I missed that from Joe‘s Albus. His more calm version of Albus is totally legit and he is a great actor (and I know many people love his Albus ❤️, which is great and what is the reason why so many different versions should exist),but personally as a fan of emotional (and super angsty) Albus I wasn’t 100% sold with his interpretation. I‘m happy to have seen his Albus, but it doesn’t perfectly match with the Albus I imagined while reading the script.
Scorpius Malfoy - Jonathan Case
Oh boy...where do I start with Jonathan. His Scorpius is absolute perfection. He is such an amazing actor and this is exactly how I imagined Scorpius to be like. As much as I love Anthony’s Scorpius he was never 100% how I imagined him while reading the script (which is not a bad thing!), but Jonathan is just perfect. He was the most adorable thing I have ever seen on a stage. Where can I sign up to adopt his Scorpius??? (Sorry Draco 😉).
Jonathan played Scorpius a lot more shy and unsure with a lot of anxiety. Anthony was louder and more sure of himself. Jonathan on the other hand is a complete mess and as socially awkward as I am (he is very relatable). He wasn’t as funny as Anthony, but still hilarious. His Scorpius is just so adorable and lovable and I really can’t understand how anyone in Hogwarts can bully him.
His emotional scenes were spot on. The library scene was amazing as was the office scene with Draco in the dark AU. He was one of the strongest actors in the play and he made every scene he was in was in 100% better.
His chemistry with Joe was good although as I said above I missed a little bit from Joe‘s side. The Scorbus hug at the end was everything though. My Scorbus heart was more than delighted 😁.
With him and Anthony they casted two extremely talented actors and there is a reason Scorpius was the audience favourite in both shows I saw. As actors they are both equally talented, but I think Jonathan was more my personal Scorpius, which is absolutely subjective. I love both of them so much, please don’t make me choose. So happy Jonathan will also be in the year 4 cast.
Hermione Granger - Franc Ashman
I have no doubt Franc is a great actress, but to be honest she was one of the weakest points about the year 3 cast. She just wasn’t Hermione to me. It was something about her voice and here lack of authority. Noma had an absolute authority on stage, her being minister for magic was totally believable. Franc tried to play her more playful, which I appreciated as a new interpretation. She tried something very different and I appreciate her for that. This new Hermione just really didn’t work for me personally, which again is super subjective and not a bad thing about her Hermione. She is someone else’s Hermione, just not mine.
Act one was really not my thing, but the first AU in act two was worse for me. I think Franc went for Hermione slowly losing her mind about being so frustrated over Ron, but she took it a bit too far for my taste. I prefer Noma‘s more subtle interpretation. Sure Hermione is bitter in the AU, but I don’t see her that extreme. Of course this is also a subjective matter, but it really didn’t work for me at all.
Franc got a lot better in act 3 and 4 though. I really liked the remarry scene with Ron, it was a very sweet moment and she gained more authority on stage towards the end. She still wasn’t my favorite Hermione, but her performance was more enjoyable especially in the last act.
I think she is a good actress and there is nothing obviously wrong with her performance, just sometimes actors don’t agree with how you see a character and for some reason her Hermione just really didn’t work for me. I do appreciate her different take on Hermione though and I know that some people really love her Hermione and found their Hermione in her.
Ron Weasley - Thomas Aldridge
I simply loved Thomas. I didn’t think anyone could be funnier than Paul, but Thomas actually managed to pull it off. The office blocking scene was just simply hilarious and the whole theatre was in tears afterwards from so much laughing. I think Paul did the serious moments a little bit better, but honestly they are both just amazing and both do their own thing. I couldn’t even tell who I prefer. They are both just perfect and so lovable as Ron.
Thomas did the AU very well and seeing him that unhappy was sort of heart breaking. I missed a little bit of chemistry between him and Franc as Paul and Noma had such great chemistry together, but this could also be very subjective as I wasn’t the biggest fan of Franc and I may be a little bit biased here. The remarriage scene was very sweet though. With Thomas going on one knee to propose again. And I liked their kiss before the Dementors suck out their soul.
In conclusion I just love Thomas as Ron, he was amazing and I‘m very happy to have seen him live. It’s great he is staying for another year.
Draco Malfoy - James Howard
At first I wasn’t too sure of how I would like James as Draco as he is very Lucius Malfoy like, but I actually really loved it. He is very different from Alex as he was very rough and made his own thing very different from the book Malfoys (which was one of the reasons I loved him so much), but James‘ more book Malfoy interpretation worked as well and was even closer to canon. He looked very elegant and definetly more like a Malfoy and at the beginning he seemed very arrogant like it’s Malfoy fashion. He was less of a brat (Alex was a very nasty brat at the beginning), but more arrogant and above other people similar to Lucius. It worked really great with how the Malfoy family appears in the books.
As the play progresses we see that this behavior is rather a facade and see the real Draco. And James nailed this. His scenes where he talks about Astoria were absolutely heart breaking and I don’t see how any Draco hater can get out of this play and not think that Draco was redeemed. He was softer than Alex and I really liked that. He wasn’t as funny, but the fight between Draco and Harry was still very enjoyable and funny.
I think James had great chemistry with Jonathan and Jamie and it all worked really great together. The hug between James and Jonathan at the end was just so adorable. You could feel how much Draco and Scorpius mean to each other. I actually ended up shipping Drarry a lot after the show although I‘m usually not that big of a Drarry fan. But James‘ and Jamie‘s chemistry was really good especially in the scene in Harry‘s office in act 4. You could feel how these two dads were bonding over their love for their kids.
James is a great Draco and there is a reason he is around since the original cast in 2016 (where he was Alex‘ understudy). He made Draco his own and I‘m happy they made him main cast and that he will stay for another year. Sign me up at the James Fanclub 😂
Ginny Potter - Susie Trayling
To be totally honest I didn’t enjoy Susie‘s Ginny too much. She wasn’t bad and she is a solid actress, but she sadly didn’t do much with her role. I was never a big Ginny stan especially after the movies (I know I missed out on a great character),but Poppy made me fall in love with book Ginny. Her Ginny was fierce and full of fire, but also a soft and understanding mother and wife. She was Harry‘s rock to feel safe. Susie was very soft and she got the motherly part down quite well, but her Ginny was just too motherly and not enough fierce and interesting. She reminded me more of movie Ginny than book Ginny (which again I think some people could really love if they didn’t like Poppy as Ginny). The fire and the fierceness were missing at least in my opinion (which again is very subjective). She did have great moments and book Ginny did shine through now and then, but not often enough to really get me interested in Ginny as a character.
The chemistry between her and Jamie was alright, but because of her lack of emotion it never got more than that.
I think Jamie was really trying in the church scene and it’s my favorite Hinny moment in the play, but she just didn’t give him enough back to make the scene really great. From the backstage videos I saw they can have great chemistry off stage (at least it seemed to me like that) so I think it’s rather a problem with her interpretation of Ginny and her choice to play her so calm. The good thing that did work though was the comparison Harry made between Albus and Ginny at the end. Susie‘s Ginny and Joe’s Albus were quite similar in how calm and collected they behaved. This comparison worked very well in this version of the play. Maybe she just had a bad day or I just can’t warm up to her interpretation. Don’t get me wrong she wasn’t bad, her acting was solid and good, she just didn’t do more than that. Again subjective (please don’t hate me 🙏🏻).
Rose Granger-Weasley - Helen Aluko
Rose doesn’t have such a big role in the play, but Helen is really good as Rose. Her Rose is more adorable and less bossy. I could see her very well as a young version of Hermione in something. She made Rose bossy but although sympathetic at the same time. She had good chemistry with everyone.
I really liked her, she is a good actress and I‘m happy I saw her.
Severus Snape - David Annen
Snape doesn’t have a big role, but as he is my favorite character from the books the Snape scenes are really important to me. I adore David‘s Snape. He is everything I ever wanted from a book Snape adaptation. He is super sassy and mean, but still funny and serious. The patronus scene was beautiful and he nailed how I would imagine an older version of book Snape to be like. I liked him more than Paul, he did more his own thing whereas Paul tried to copy Alan Rickman a bit more.
David was also really great as Vernon Dursley (the scene was hilarious) and he was terrifying as Voldemort/ Harry as Voldemort. He had to play these very different characters and he nailed all of them.
David is my favorite adapted version of Snape and I‘m very grateful I could see him live in this role. As a big Snape fan this meant a lot.
Eva - Delphi Diggory
At the beginning I really liked her Delphi. She was especially lovely at the beginning making the reveal much more drastic. She had good chemistry with Joe and I actually really liked her „good“ version of Delphi, it’s a pitty it all was just pretense and this version actually doesn’t exist.
Her evil version of Delphi was a bit too much for me though. She had some great moments where she was threatening, but in a lot of scenes she went for Delphi totally losing her mind. I think she tried to make Delphi a bit like Bellatrix being totally mental. I prefer Delphi to be more serious as it’s more threatening and easier to take serious.
She did a great job though and she made it very believable for Albus to fall for her as her Delphi was very lovable at the beginning.
The supporting cast
The entire cast was pretty good. I really preferred Umbrigde and Bane this time and Hagrid and McGonagall (who was an understudy) were great too. No complains here. I would go more into detail, but this review is already longer than anticipated, so I just leave it as that.
Conclusion
I had a wonderful time seeing this play again and I was once again reminded why it’s my favorite play. It’s such a beautiful story and production and I can’t put into words how grateful I am I could see this play again. I think I can see this play a thousand times and it never gets boring. The worst thing is after seeing it it just leaves you wanting to see it again.
If you have a chance I can’t recommend this play enough. I know it’s very expensive and doesn’t play in a lot of countries, but if you can go: DO IT!!! It’s worth it. If you go in London, I think the year 3 cast is really good (now year 4 cast, but a lot of great people stayed, so!) and I totally recommend watching them. Soon (there already was 🙈) there will be cast change, but Jonathan, James, Jamie, Susie and Thomas are staying for another year and the new actors looked lovely. London is a beautiful city with a lot of great theatre (seriously watch Everybody’s talking about Jamie, it’s amazing), so that’s also a plus.

You have such a specific view of what Albus and Scorpius are like, both separately and together! Do you ever read and enjoy fics where they don't really match up to your idea of them? Obviously everyone's depiction will be slightly different, but I mean like bigger differences- jobs, or personality traits, or relationships dynamics. Or like, muggle AU's or something? (I find it easier to read AUs in this situation, personally). How "different" than your HC's are you willing to go?
This is such an interesting question! I think the fics I enjoy most are where their characterisation is similar to how I write them: soft, dorky, sweet Scorpius and an Albus who’s moody but loving. I’ll enjoy any jobs/ways of getting together etc if the baseline personality of the boys is similar to canon/my own writing (as in, I based my version of scorbus on CC so I like reading versions of them which also match the characterisation from canon). I must admit I find it harder to read fics where the personalities are wildly different: bad boy Scorpius, extrovert popular boy Albus etc. Doesn’t mean I never will, especially in an AU, and there are some brilliant fics out there with different characterisation, but it’s my preference! With a ship like scorbus, there’s so much out there that existed before Cursed Child or has been written by someone who didn’t read/take into account Cursed Child, and that’s not to say those fics aren’t brilliant and valid and worth reading, just my personal opinion when reading :)
I think that’s only natural with a pairing anyone has written and explored as much as I have with scorbus, my versions of them feel so real to me that it’s harder to buy in to a different interpretation. Even in an AU, I still prefer them to have their canon personalities. Maybe that makes me far too picky, it probably does, but that’s the honest truth! I hope that answers your question :)
#scorbus#just to be clear this is only my preference#which is what anon asked about#not trying to shade anyone or invalidate anyone’s headcanons or ideas#i love how varied the scorbus fandom is#and how many wonderful interpretations there are out there#and my opinion holds no more value than anyone else’s

Prompt? James can't believe. Abus is singing! He used to to do that under his breath all the time before Hogwarts, when he stopped. But since the end of fifth year he also looked more joyful and a bit overhead. He was happy for his brother, of course, after the last year seeing him this happy was a relief! But what make his grumpy little brother smile so wildely? Maybe it has something to do with the friend he invited to spend the week and know how to calm him down after a nightmare. (Scorbus)
I gave it a shot! Thanks for the prompt :D
Disconcerting is what it was, James thought. Hecould hear Albus in his room, singing. He wasn’t even that good at singing, buthe hadn’t stopped doing it all day. Right now, he was tidying his room, a chorehe absolutely hated, yet he was still singing. Of course, it wasn’t all bad.James much preferred his brother’s terrible singing to how things had been lastsummer.
That summer, Albus had hardly left his room, and when James heard anything through the thin wall it was quiet sobbing. Hismood had improved when he’d finally sat them all down and told them what waswrong. Well, it had more been like their mum sitting them all down anddemanding to know. Once Albus had said he was gay, and nobody had been terriblysurprised or upset his mood had improved. Some, but not much.
James liked his brother happy, it was just –strange – seeing him like this. He hadn’t heard his brother singing sincebefore he’d started Hogwarts, for Merlin’s sake, and even then, it had been aquiet thing. Maybe he was just really happy that his best friend wouldn’t bespending the entire holiday abroad for the first time, and would instead comestay with him for a week.
Or, James thought, later that night. Maybe hewas a bloody idiot.
Scorpius had arrived through the floo, andthough Albus wasn’t singing, he might as well have been the way he was glowing.Their dad had been a bit sceptical at first, but he’d soon realised the truththat James, Albus and Lily had all been trying to convince him of, thatScorpius wasn’t the dick his father had been. Well, James assumed he’d been adick, with the way his dad spoke of him. Their mum had happily helped themtransfigure the couch in Albus’ room into a bed, and later James thought thatat least he hadn’t been the only idiot.
The day had passed without incident, really. And James was fast asleep seconds after going to bed, the mystery of Albus’singing left unsolved.
When he woke hours later to the sounds of hisbrother screaming James jumped out of bed in an instant, ready to go calm hisbrother like he always did. Albus had suffered nightmares since he was a kid,and no Mind-Healer in st. Mungo’s had been able to tell them why. James wasusually the one to help, because he always woke up first due to the flimsy wallseparating his room from his brother’s.
Before he got to his door though, the screamingstopped, replaced by lowered voices. James hesitated for a moment before goingback to the warmth of his bed. Maybe Scorpius had this? Except, maybe he didn’t?The other room had gone strangely silent, and James realised he wouldn’t beable to sleep without checking on his little brother.
James opened the door to Albus’ room withoutknocking, like he always did when his brother had a nightmare. Only this timehe didn’t open the door to find his brother white as a sheet and shaking infear. He opened it to find his little brother, baby Albus, on top of his bestfriend, making out with what seemed to be enthusiasm.
Albus rolled of Scorpius the minute he sawJames, managing to look both angry and embarrassed.
“Bloody hell, I’m an idiot!” James said, staring at his brother and what was now, so obviously, his boyfriend.
“I did wonder when you’d figure it out,” Albussaid, smiling a little through his embarrassment.
“Merlin, just tell me next time, will you?”James asked, sure that his retinas were forever branded with the image of hisbrother snogging someone.
“Told you so,” Scorpius said, looking utterlyunaffected by the fact James had walked in.
“Told him what?” James asked.
“That you wouldn’t mind, you know – us,” theblond said, gesturing between himself and Albus.
James looked to Albus, and saw that his brotherdid in fact look a bit nervous. “Of course, I don’t mind, you tit,” he said. “I’mgonna go all dad mode here and say I’m happy you’re happy.”
“Thanks,” Albus grinned, “I just – I don’tknow. You know I worry a lot over weird stuff.”
“Yeah, I know,” James said. Normally he’d hughis brother, but he figured this really wasn’t the time. “Just remember thewall’s bloody thin, yeah?”
Scorpius laughed, and Albus blushed. “Yeah, I’llkeep that in mind,” his brother said, blush deepening.
“Right. I’m off to bed again,” James said, backing out of the room. “I’m glad you’ve got him singing again Scorpius, butif you hurt him I’ll break your face.”
“I don’t doubt it for a second,” Scorpius saidas James closed the door on the two boys. The transfigured bed hadn’t been usedat all. Merlin he was an idiot.

'The Cursed Child' recap – 7th/8th and 9th of September, Part 1
I had a long break, almost four moths, from seeing 'The Cursed Child'. The last time I saw the play was in May, a week before the cast change. Ever since reviews of the new cast started to appear, I was impatient to return to London and see them. I love the original cast and was extremely sad when they left the play (and elated when it was announced that they were going to reprise their roles on Broadway!) so I was also anxious to see new actors playing my beloved characters. But my worries were mostly unfounded.
I'm going to write summaries about each actor and then some details from a few scenes. I saw the play twice, on Thursday/Friday (7th/8th) and Saturday (9th), and had restricted seats in row A, but on two opposite sites, so in the end I saw almost everything.
Jamie Glover
I warmed up to him during the second performance and in the end I think he does a great job. I don't like him as much as I like Jamie Parker (who is my ideal Harry) but he's a very good actor and his interpretation of Harry is interesting and valid. He still doesn't look like Harry to me, and while appearance obviously isn't the most important part, it still plays some role in how much I enjoy the actor (especially the one playing the character I have a very specific image of in my head). His Harry is different than Jamie Parker's and I think I can summarise it in one short sentence: his Harry is older. (Well, Jamie G. is ten years older than Jamie P.) He looks older and he acts older. He's calmer, quieter (he doesn't shout as much as Jamie P. did), he doesn't have that bouncy energy Jamie P. had. He has a very good connection with Theo, unfortunately not so great with Emma. I also felt that he could have played more with his voice, too often he was saying lines in the same tone of voice (though he had some brilliant moments. More about it later).
Emma Lowndes
She's a good actress but I'm not a fan of her Ginny. She's too cold and distant, I really missed Poppy's loving and caring warmth. She had some great moments (more about it later) but there were also moments when I disliked her performance. Sometimes I got a feeling that her smiles and laughs were forced and false. As I mentioned above I didn't feel true and strong relationship and love between her Ginny and Jamie's Harry. And so you wouldn't think that I'm blinded by my love for Poppy's Ginny, I saw Lowri once as Ginny and I liked her more than Emma.
Theo Ancient
As Albus is my favourite character, I was the most anxious about Theo's interpretation of Albus. And though he isn't my Albus and I still prefer Sam, he was really good and I enjoyed his performance very much. He had a few stiff and unnatural moments/lines but honestly, who doesn't? Though I wished he hadn't used that pained, troubled expression so often. His Albus is much different than Sam's. They both are sad and miserable, they feel misunderstood, rejected, alone, and think that they don't live up to expectations. Theo shows that pain and sadness, he's more open and vulnerable. He uses anger as his last resort, when he gets really annoyed and frustrated and thinks it's the only way to reach Harry. While Sam used anger as a shield, to hide his pain and weakness, to appear strong and indifferent to what others think of him. That difference is very visible in the blanket scene in which Sam was tense, irritated, angry from the moment Harry went in, and Theo is initially just sad and gets angry only at the end of the scene. Theo's interpretation works most of the time, although there were some scenes in which it didn't work the best. Theo and Samuel have a wonderful connection and are lovely together, but in my opinion Sam and Anthony had better chemistry and more Scorbus moments.
Thomas Aldridge
He's great! Funny, loving, caring, brave, content with his life, family and friends. He has a wonderful connection with Rakie, their Ron and Hermione work great together. The only thing he lacks is the look (Paul Thornley was perfectly cast when it comes to the appearance).
Danny Dalton
He played Ron on Saturday. His Ron wasn't much different than Paul's or Tom's so it means he was equally good. Danny and Emma also look somewhat similarly so I really felt that they were brother and sister.
Rakie Ayola
I have a bit of a problem with her Hermione. Rakie is amazing in the normal reality but I don't like her choices of portraying Hermione in alternate realities. In the first AR she looked and sounded like she was on the verge of tears. And while that's a plausible reaction at the end of the scene, after Albus mentions Ron and Rose, I don't get why she's almost crying throughout the whole scene. It's been over twenty years since she lost Ron and Hermione's not a kind of person to cry over it all day and night for years. It changed her, she's mean, even cruel, but she wouldn't be showing her misery in front of students. That's way I also don't like that she sits and cries on the staircase, where everyone can see her, before she meets Ron. Though crumpling in despair after their meeting was a great reaction. In the Voldemort AR she was too bossy, too authoritative, I didn't feel the warmth and care Hermione should still have.
James Howard
His Draco is very different than Alex's but I love them both equally. He's much more stoic, distant, closed, he doesn't easily show his feelings. He's also less funny than Alex but that's fine, his Draco isn't supposed to be.
Samuel Blenkin
He was fantastic! I will never say that he's better than Anthony and if I was forced to choose, I would choose Anthony, but I love his Scorpius. His Scorpius isn't that much different than Anthony's, he's still geeky, ridiculous, awkward, full of energy, kind, loyal, brave, with a right amount of seriousness, angst and sadness. Unlike Anthony, Samuel speaks in a normal tone of voice and he doesn't fidget with his clothes and hair. In the beginning I wasn't very fond of his expressions, they were sometimes too comical, too exaggerated for me (faces he made, reminded me sometimes of Mr Bean's :D). But during the second show I got used to them and accepted as a part of his Scorpius. (I had the same problem with Anthony's high-pitched voice. I really liked it only during my second show).
David Annen
He's the only actor I really liked more than the original. Not that I didn't like Paul Bentall, he just wasn't my Severus. And Severus Snape is my favourite HP character (and one of my favourite characters ever) so the rendition of him on stage is very important to me. David's portrayal is the closest to what I imagine Severus to be like (though even he isn't there yet. I'm afraid no one will ever be). He's brilliant in every aspect: the appearance, the voice, the posture and movements. I felt that he really understood and inhabited the character. He's also very nice and funny; I asked him at the stage door to sign his favourite scene and surprisingly it turned out to be the duel between Harry and Draco!
Annabel Baldwin
I heard so many wonderful things about her Delphi, that she's perfect, much better than Esther, etc. And she was great, I grant it, but honestly I don't think she was better than Esther. Their Delphi's are very similar, Annabel even sounded like Esther in some scenes. But all that means that I enjoyed Annabel's Delphi immensely, as I always enjoyed Esther's.
April Hughes
Her Myrtle was hilarious, it was a real pleasure and fun to watch her. She played Delphi on Saturday and unfortunately I didn't enjoy her as much as I had Annabel and Esther. Her voice irritated me, she has a very high voice and she sounded too much like she was talking to a child. She was much better though in the Part Two, as 'evil' Delphi, especially in the scene at the Quidditch pitch.
Sarah Miele
She was fantastic as Myrtle, she may be even my favourite. Unfortunately, her Polly wasn't great. I never liked Claudia Grant as Polly, she was too unnatural in the scene with Scorpius, trying too hard to be funny, over-acting and exaggerating. And sadly Sarah played that scene in the same way. I thought maybe that was the way this scene was supposed to be played but no, because...
Leah Haile
played Polly brilliantly, as I always wanted her to be portrayed. Funny, flirtatious, natural, not a bit over-acting. Can she play Polly all the time?
What I noticed about this cast, is that they speak more clearly and slowly. It was especially evident in case of Scorpius and Harry. Jamie P. and Anthony spoke sometimes very quickly and I, as a non-native speaker, struggled to understand them. With Jamie G. and Samuel I had no problems in understanding every single word. On one hand it's a good thing, but on the other I sometimes felt that they focused more on delivering their lines clearly than expressing true emotions.

Ok so have some incoherent thoughts:
I enjoyed the script, but the show is a whole other beast all together and it was amazing.
The special effects were incredible.
I never understood the hype about Scorpius before, like... I liked him don’t get me wrong, but NOW omg he’s my angelic son who can do no wrong bless his soul. The young actor playing him did so bloody well!
THE HUMOUR - my god the comedic moments land so much better on stage than in the script. Every single main character made me laugh out loud at least twice. There is much more of JKR’s dry humour in this than there is in the films. Speaking of...
THE FARMER’S MARKET. That is all.
The Delphi plot holes really didn’t bother me as much as I thought they might.
Harry and Ginny are still my number 1 OTP for life. WE STAN A KING AND QUEEN.
Harry & Hermione’s friendship is still everything. The scene in Harry’s office is one of my all time faves from the entire canon universe.
I still enjoy the dynamics between the adults more than the next-gen characters because those are the characters I grew up with, so I obviously preferred those scenes.
Probably because of that I still don’t really care about the Scorbus/Scorose debate. Either is fine by me.
Could have used a little bit more Ron, but I enjoyed the bits he was in.
The actor who played Draco was very good - he hit the nuances in the character just right for me.
My only (slight) issue - and i’ll preface this by saying that I am first and foremost a Harry stan so I may be overthinking this - but to me the actor who played Harry had some moments where he was better than others. Overall he was very good, but there were just the occasional moments where I found him a little... over-exuberant I think is the word I’m looking for? Like, I get that he’s older and more confident now (and it’s a stage so you can’t really do things subtly) but IMO Harry is a slightly more subdued character than was presented at times - which would have made the outburst moments a little more powerful.
That said, he did very much come into his own in the big emotional scenes. The Potters’ deaths and the post-nightmare scenes were genuinely gut-wrenching, and the “how many more” scene made me cry actual tears.
I might think of more things later but yeah. My potter-loving heart is very content right now.
I’m going to see The Cursed Child in London today 🎉🎉🎉

OKAY BUT WHY DID JKR NOT MAKE SCORPIUS AND ALBUS GAY ITS JUST NOT FAIR THEY ARE SO OBVIOUSLY IN LOVE
Well regardless of labels, they very clearly love each other and that’s canon. You hear it in their words and see it in their actions. Give it time and I’m sure they’ll be in love with one another too. But why not now? I know while it may seem like the most obvious and natural progression of their relationship to us at this point, it most definitely will and should take time. For Scorpius and Albus as individuals especially. They mean too much to each other for it not to. Just to be a little selfish as well, I don’t want them to rush into this. They don’t need to. As lovely as a canon Scorbus ending to CC would have been (for far more important reasons than shipping them), I prefer the idea of them growing and building up to it. I love these characters. So, so much. I think it would have been a great injustice if they were thrown together at the end in a few throwaway lines like the Rose thing. It deserves more than that. I want whispered conversations, sneaky glances, delicate confessions, but fearless touches. Always. They fight the butterflies in their stomachs and ignore judgemental stares and keep reaching out for arms, wrists, and eventually, hands. They stop looking for reasons and making up excuses. They do it just because interlocked fingers and pressed palms feels right. I know a lot of the above happens between them on stage already, but it’ll be in other things too.
It’ll be in late night escapades to the Astronomy Tower where they try and convince themselves those pesky butterflies are merely adrenaline. But up there it’s just the two of them and they’re safe. Safe to look a little longer, to sit a little closer, to say the things that don’t want overheard yet. Albus will notice how blond hair glows golden in the setting sun, just like Scorpius realises the brightest light that night isn’t from the constellations above them, but from Albus when his smile reaches his eyes. The rush of trying to out run the prefect on the way back to their dorm is nothing compared to that feeling.
It’ll be in lazy mornings in their corner of the common room, huddled together in the alcove as they work on their DADA homework. Scorpius realises he’s now less bothered by Albus stealing more of their shared blanket as all he can feel is the warmth radiating from their tangled legs. It’s frustratingly distracting as it is perfect. Just like watching Scorpius talking to the fish that swim up to their window is suddenly ‘cute’ and not ridiculous to Albus. Well, it is still ridiculous but now he finds himself biting his lip not just to stop himself from laughing, but because he’s falling for a boy who’s kind. A boy who knows those fish won’t ever talk back but doesn’t quit trying. He’s a boy who oooh’s at the pretty fish and compliments the scary looking ones and it makes Albus forget all about defensive theories. He later wishes he hadn’t, clearly he has a weakness.
It’ll be in long afternoons by the lake when Albus gets bored of practising the vanishing spell on unsuspecting wildlife and instead makes the book Scorpius is currently arguing aloud at disappear. Scorpius is so overwhelmed with pride for Albus having finally accomplished it, it surprises him how the loss of his book was just an afterthought. Albus never wants Scorpius to stop looking at him like that, eyes shining and body vibrating with happiness, especially if he’s the cause of it. Even if he does have to put up with unrelenting tickles as punishment and having to share his transfiguration book until they figure out how to get Scorpius’s back. Not that it seems much like a punishment. Nor the wandering hands for that matter either but that’s a thought for another time.
I don’t think it’s possible to condense all that down into one scene tacked onto the end of this play. It wouldn’t be fair. Not when their big ‘oh’ moment is felt every time the headstrong boy forgets how to breathe and the talkative boy suddenly becomes unsure of his words. But together they will make sense of it because it makes sense. They make sense. I want them happy and on the same page at the same time about it. If that takes another year or three years, I don’t care. Seeing them grow as characters and believe in themselves and their relationship (whatever it may be) far outweighs my need as a fan to want to see them romantically involved at the end of CC. It’s such a beautiful play that captures the intricacies of family, the power of friendship, and of fearless love and residue pain. Their relationship is a highlight of the play for so many of us (if you think it comes to life in the pages of your book, it’s nothing compared to how bright they shine together on stage), yet it’s not the only focus of the story. But their relationship and this play? It is what it is. I get why people are mad, I was mad too. You’ve just got to take a step back and look, re-read, discuss, and think. I wouldn’t want this play any other way now. I see an inevitability in its open-endedness. So please, don’t hate something that I believe, ultimately, changes their lives for the better and evolves their relationship into something more than they ever could have imagined as they nervously passed Scorpius’s bag of sweets back and forth in that train carriage all those years ago. Even if you have no faith in the play, at least believe in Albus and Scorpius. They’ll figure it out. In time. After all, it seems rather fitting, doesn’t it? Time…
#*nervously presses the 'post' button* this play... the characters and their relationships... all these stories - they mean everything to me#aaaand because sometimes you're listening to the CC songs and get hit with feels that you know if you don't let out will make you implode#scorbus#scorpius malfoy#albus potter#mypost#Anonymous#text post

drarry recs!
this is by no means a definitive list! as a disclaimer, I read some of these over a year ago and they may vary in quality, but I liked them all. fics by the same author are all clumped together but this is in no particular order. i have big preferences for certain authors. faves are bolded. super faves are italicised and bolded. under the cut because this is very long
Another Mask Behind You by lettered
“Draco is a high-end prostitute who hides his identity. Harry unknowingly hires him. And then there is porn, questions about identity, domestic bliss, more porn, and truth as seen through a web of lies. (And then more porn. Seriously, if you don’t want sex scene after sex scene you probably shouldn’t read this. And please read the warnings.)”
The Fall of the Veils by lettered
“This is the fic where Muggles find out about wizards, wars are fought, Apparition is abolished, political conspiracies abound, Draco is asexual, and Harry has Legilimency sex with him.”
The Pure and Simple Truth by lettered
“Harry, Draco, and Hermione go to a pub. Harry, Draco, and Pansy go to a pub. Harry, Draco, Pansy, and Hermione go to a pub. Harry, Draco, Hermione and Ron go to a pub. Harry, Draco, Hermione, Ron, and Pansy―you guessed it―go to a pub. I could go on. In fact, I did. Harry, Draco, Hermione, Pansy, Ron, Blaise, Luna, Goyle, Neville, and Theodore Nott go to a pub. In various combinations.”
No Other Superstar by lettered
“Draco is sort of fucked up. Harry is sort of fucked up and really really famous. Together they fight crime! Not in this fic, though. In this fic they have sex.”
The Bound Prince by slashpervert
“In HBP, there is a pivotal moment where things could have gone very differently for Harry and Draco. In the bathroom sixth year, Draco is upset that Harry has caught him crying and throws a hex. It escalates and ends in blood, with Harry nearly killing Draco by accident. In this story, instead, unvoiced attraction to Harry motivates Draco to take a chance and kiss him. Once sparked, their mutual desire and exploration becomes the driving force in the alternative ending to the series. Draco's "mission" from Voldemort turns out to be more complex than that presented in canon and their solution even more difficult.”
This is just shy of a million words if you want something to really get into! Be warned that it is emotionally devastating at parts, and you could stop reading after the first fic in the series.
Simulacrum by slashpervert
“Draco sends a gift to Potter and finds himself in a difficult but erotic position.”
This ridiculous magical sex toys smut and nothing else but I love it jkdjdnfjkasl
To Give Everything by slashpervert
“Draco finds The Room, a torture chamber in the Hogwarts dungeons and longs for someone to submit to him. Harry finds he needs that and more.”
After Hours at the Ministry of Magic by birdsofshore
“It isn't precisely how Harry planned to spend Christmas Eve: trapped in a lift with his ex-boyfriend, somewhere between the third and the fourth floors of the Ministry of Magic.”
Higher and Higher (Temptation) by birdsofshore
“Only Harry Potter could manage to put on a magical collar on impulse and find himself unable to take it off again. Now following Draco’s direct orders gives him intense pleasure, and Draco has a whole heap of troubles to deal with, not least the way Potter looks when the collar has him gasping with bliss. The whole situation would test the morals of a saint... and Draco’s no saint.”
I Bet That You Look Good on the Dancefloor by birdsofshore
“Harry felt lit up from inside as soon as he entered the bar. There were blokes dancing together, their bodies close to one another, not keeping a wary distance as Harry was always careful to do when he was near another man. God, he wanted this – wanted it so much he could taste it, a metallic tang of heat and desire. He suspected nothing would ever be the same again – especially when he saw who else was in the room.”
One Night at the Leaky by birdsofshore
“Harry should have known better than to accept a drunken dare. Especially when Malfoy was sitting right there, looking like that and wearing those bloody tight trousers.”
Hungry by birdsofshore
“The first thing Harry knew about it was when he woke up lying on a bed in the hospital wing, with his arm firmly stuck to the scrawny, milk-white arm of Draco bloody Malfoy.”
All Life is Yours To Miss by Saras_Girl
“Professor Malfoy's world is contained, controlled, and as solitary as he can make it, but when an act of petty revenge goes horribly awry, he and his trusty six-legged friend are thrown into Hogwarts life at the deep end and must learn to live, love and let go.”
Saras_Girl’s Fluffy!verse
this is just a lot of fluffy oneshots! they’re mainly under 10k and I’ve noted where they get longer. my personal favourites are:
Code-Cracking For Gryffindors
Hermione Granger and the Case of the Cherry Blossoms
Rainfall
Talk to Me (15k)
The Haunting (10k)
Turn by Saras_Girl
“One good turn always deserves another. Apparently.
This story contains some het, a lot of slash, some epilogue-friendly stuff and a lot of AU. It is vaguely inspired by the film ‘The Family Man’ but in reality, is a variation on a concept that is, quite frankly, well old. I implore you to just trust me and enjoy the story.”
On a Clear Day by Saras_Girl
“Draco Malfoy is waiting for his real life to begin, and it appears that he’s not the only one. Coffee, charity, and the wisdom of the elderly.
This is a post-war, feature-length oneshot told entirely from Draco’s point of view. It is canon-compliant through DH but obviously disregards the epilogue. [What epilogue?]”
just. draco sings the smiths??? and i cried
Salt on the Western Wind by Saras_Girl
“When the war isn’t quite as over as it first appears, a guilt-ridden Harry is sent to a mysterious safe-house. Among sandwiches, insomnia, and Mills & Boon, he discovers something quite unexpected. [Smoochfest 2012]”
Frost on a Park Bench by Saras_Girl
This is Draco's park. Harry Potter has no business being here.
Reparations, Foundations & all that follows by Saras_Girl
“Harry is about to discover that the steepest learning curve comes after Healer training, and that second chances can be found in unexpected places.
When one door closes, another one opens – with a bit of a push. Life, love and complications.”
my favourite favourite thing I’ve ever read is probably Còmhla, the very last fic of this series, but don’t read it without having read the rest of it
This Summer by Saras_Girl
“This is a summery romantic comedy featuring my favourite ensemble cast, in which Harry is confused, Draco is Draco, and Hermione attempts to eat all the things.”
Big Dick, Come Quick (pdf or epub) by calanthe
“Draco’s got a theory. About sex. And after much searching for the right candidate, it appears that only Harry Potter, his life long enemy, can help him test it out.”
The Logic of Dreams by Frayach
“J.K. Rowling meets Philip K. Dick. War hero Harry Potter suddenly finds himself guilty of a murder he hasn’t committed of a man he has never met. And worst of all, he has no means of confronting his accusers, all of whom are former Death Eaters. Could this be a set-up? Or something even worse? Loosely based on the short story The Minority Report”
On the Couch by Frayach
“It’s a Mind Healer’s worse nightmare to lose a patient to suicide, but Mind Healer Nick Nichols can attest to the fact that a murder/suicide is even worse. If only Dr. Freud had come up with a sure cure for love.”
it feels weird but trust me
let me see you stripped (down to the bone) by traintracks
“"So," Malfoy said. "Are you in? Or are you out?" He turned and looked at Harry squarely. Harry remembered the slow way Malfoy had slid his hand down his own stomach, into his pants – the outline of his long fingers gripping and stroking his own cock. The way his head had fallen back, exposing his pale throat. How he had owned them all. He took a deep breath. "I'm in," he said.”
Harry Potter and The Sexual Awakening by jrayoh23
“Harry Potter gets outed by Rita Skeeter in a recent Daily Prophet article and decides to take matters into his own hands. He decides to write a tell-all that everyone wants, the story of how he came to terms with his sexuality. What no one, especially Draco Malfoy, expects is this book doubles as a love letter to someone Harry calls, L.B.
In the midst of being assigned to read and review Potter's new book, Draco realizes that some of the stories Potter tells in his book seem a little too familair. Thus, bringing up old feelings about the man.”
Light as Iron, Singed as Pearl by Snegurochka
“The owner of the elite BDSM club M. had not gained his reputation as the most coveted Dominant on the scene by taking on just any riff-raff submissive who asked. It would take an unexpected letter to convince him to accept a new client, but it might turn out to be the biggest mistake he ever made.”
The Hogwarts Rebellion by Lumelle
“When someone apparently casts an enchantment upon Hogwarts that causes hearts to float around in the air whenever someone is near a person they have a crush on, it seems like a harmless enough thing.
Of course, this only holds until it hits a Potter and a Malfoy. After that, things get interesting.”
okay so this is technically a scorbus fic but it’s the cutest, fluffiest thing I’ve ever read and there’s some drarry and i love it
Double Take by kcstories
“The Yule Ball didn't go according to plan. An intrigued Draco follows a desolate Harry into a hidden room. Things will never be the same again. (An alternate take on Harry's fourth year).”
Side-Along by lumosed_quill
“If this wasn't a curse then it was Hell. Because surely, in Hell, all roads would lead to Harry Potter's living room.”
How to Handle an Enemy & Turnbout Is Fair Play by who_la_hoop
“Everyone knows that it's no fun playing truth or dare with a Slytherin. But add a little Veritaserum, a scheming duo of Slytherin girls and surprising things can be revealed. Particularly about the fine line between love and hate…
After a – cough – revealing game of truth or dare instigated by his fellow Slytherins, Draco Malfoy finds himself in possession of a). the interesting knowledge that a certain Gryffindor horror may not be as immune to his personal charms as hitherto suspected and b). the password to the Gryffindor Tower. But Draco makes a fundamental error when he decides to make use of these facts...”
The Potter-Malfoy Problem by who_la_hoop
The room of requirement's gone mad — at least, that's what Harry thinks. There's no way that Draco Malfoy 'requires' him, of all people, but why does it keep dragging Harry there like he's some kind of furniture, every time Malfoy enters it? Throw in Pansy the pervert and a clipboard-wielding Hermione, and things can only go from bad to worse. And that's not even mentioning the pirates...
there are plently of good fics by the authors included in this list but i’ve not got around to reading them all so have a look if you need new fics! i don’t often stray from ao3 so if you have recs from elsewhere please lmk!
i have read some straight up weird, kinky, and/or angsty fics but i didn’t feel like including them here, message me if you’re interested! i feel like i’m definitely forgetting some fics, so I’ll be coming back to edit this

Here’s the thing -- I’m a senior at university who has absolutely no idea what she’s doing after graduation, & is starting to get extremely stressed about money. So, commissions are OPEN for the following:
fanfiction/poetry
character/ship aesthetics & moodboards
Information under the cut!
My pricing for fanfiction is $3 (USD) for a 500-1000 word story. This range is what I consider a ficlet, & I can complete these pretty quickly. If you donate to my Ko-Fi, I will write you a ficlet for the ship of your choosing (which is where I derive my pricing, as Ko-Fi donations are in increments of $3)**
Fandoms & I am familiar with, as well as my corresponding romantic ships, are as follows:
Harry Potter: Drarry, Hedric, Huna, Snupin, Snily, Scorbus
Captive Prince: Lamen
The Phantom of the Opera: Pharoga, Eristine, Raoulstine
The Song of Achilles/The Iliad: Patrochilles
Les Misérables: Maurisette, Enjoltaire
Once Upon a Time: Rumbelle
Avatar: the Last Airbender: Zutara
Yuri!!! on Ice: Victuuri
Pokémon: PerfectWorldShipping
I am, of course, more than happy to write platonic pairings, too. You can leave the details entirely up to me, or you can give me a prompt. I’m open to writing most things, & if I’m uncomfortable with a request, I will let you know. I would prefer not to write explicit sexual content.
Alternatively, I also dabble in poetry. If you’d like to commission some of that, fandom-cenric or otherwise, it’ll be $2 (USD), sent through PayPal.
It should go without saying, but DO NOT claim my writing as your own. DO NOT REPOST/REDISTRIBUTE MY WRITING.
Examples of my writing can be found at any of the following places:
Ao3
DeviantArt
My Writing/Graphics tag
My roleplay blogs (listed at the bottom of the page)
I also love making character/ship aesthetics, & would happily make one for the character/ship of your choice for only $1 (USD) sent through PayPal. I also make them for my fics, so if you’d like one based on one of your own stories, I can do that!
Examples of my graphics can be found in the Writing/Graphics tag linked above. Or, these are some of my personal favorites I’ve made:
Viktor Nikiforov
Lamen
Cinderella
Nicaise, for my YouTube AU
Link x Zelda
Harry Potter
Lamen, Rapunzel AU
Fa Mulan
**Ko-Fi is essentially a tip jar. You do NOT have to commission me in order to donate.
FINALLY, I am an English student & consider myself to be good at writing papers. Grammar and sentence structure is definitely my strong point, but I’ve also taken more than enough classes to have a pretty good idea of what your professors will be looking for. If you would like me to proof-read your papers, correct grammatical errors, & offer feedback on how you might improve them, I will do so for $3 (USD) for every 500 words (assuming the paper is double-spaced, that’s roughly $3 for two pages of text).
Obviously, you would have to send me the paper with plenty of time left before the due date. Alternatively, I am willing to beta-read fanfiction. We could discuss pricing privately.
You can contact me here, on any of my RP blogs, DeviantArt, or on my Twitter. Let me know if you’re interested or have any questions!
