my roommate has been pissing me tf off lately. not because of anything she did really but because she watched gone girl for the first time and rated it 3 stars on letterboxd
#maybe that’s what i get for making her get a letterboxd knowing she has OBJECTIVELY BAD taste. like unbelievably so#but still she’s literally so wrong that I can’t even look her in the eyes without wanting to confront her#she has one of the worst takes I’ve ever heard about it like I feel disdain for her for having this opinion#sbbddjenjrjendjwwje im normal but also love to argue#but I also need to keep the peace in our apartment 💆♀️🧘♀️

So Paradise of Thorns eh
#i want to start a letterboxd just to put that on there#i wish diff choices had been made for the very very end but i could see/appreciate some of what they were going for#and until that very very end (post-durian beating btw. that was great)#wow this was a 10/10 film one of the best i've ever seen wanna recommend it to everyone i know#love to see a bunch of miserable fucked over desperate people scrabble and claw at any power they're proximal to#and always come back face to face with the grim reality that they don't have any of the material power they need#love to watch palace drama dynamics where everyone sucks up familially to the ruler of the (stolen) kingdom#but make it queer and make it non-biological family#make the ruler extremely marginal vulnerable powerless herself#also the way the durians can only bloom when cultivated by all-in queer love#honestly i just wanted that kind of ending. i felt an ending where nobody gets anything is the most honest#(heightened by the ache of the moments where they almost came together and would have been able to thrive in collectivity)#but i would have preferred it somehow involving “the durians won't grow for heteros” lol#to what we got#or at least some other way for thongkam to scrabble at his male power in those last moments#(which IS a really perfect parallel to mo reduced to her most desperately monstrous bludgeoning saeng with her power)#and for everyone to end up miserable without a bloodbath which to me always feels too obvious#tho i loved the gov't official fleeing in his nice car with the $$$#but yeah im describing the literal only part i didn't love i adored every single other second of this incredible film#all i did today was laundry so i'm not gonna stay on tumblr rn and read what people had to say about this movie#but i want to because it ruled#congratulations to all involved i was blown away#the paradise of thorns#dear diary#paradise of thorns spoilers

i am taking this to mean old movies with women being gay so hopefully that's what you meant lol. i also have a letterboxd list that is relevant here, but it's kind of nonsense and not really based on what i would or wouldn't recommend lol, so i will try to make a coherent list in rough order of how i'd recommend them but i went back and forth a LOT and some of these i really need to like rewatch and reevaluate i suppose

i feel the need to state that this is not about kickin it lmfaoo but i desperately think we need to have conversations and perhaps do some readings about how media can be extremely queer even if its not technically 'canonically' gay... it's getting dire out here and some of u are boring as hell and wrong and im tired of seeing it
#and many times esp in the case of comedies they can work on several levels to work for multiple audiences. simultaneously#should not egregiously detract from your enjoyment and to like. actively rate movies or shows etc awfully bc theyre not 'canon.' you ARE#stupid. to me<3#abby talks#i wish some of u could have been in scully's classes w me just cause youd love her. and then other people... u desperately need#some whacky mentor to help u see the beauty in the world..#most recent examples i can think of are all the reviews i saw of shes the man on letterboxd. u idiots there are so many ways#and moments to view in a queer way. I finally did it!!!
#this took way longer than i anticipated lol i needed a break#there's definitely a grey zone in the ranking where i feel pretty neutral about the film so i just sorta...put it somewhere...#grey area is probably in last quarter or third or so#final film listed is not really a film but a recording of a stage performance so that's the only reason why it's at the bottom#it isn't bad at all!! just i didn't know where else to put it and it was listed on her letterboxd filmography and i've seen it so...yeah#letterboxd#the siren speaks#she doesn't ever really give a poor performance so i relied on how much i enjoyed the overall film and how many times i've rewatched#if i ever did#edwige feuillère

I really have got to redownload letterboxd
