John Dory:

*Okay, so it is canon that Branch is 24 in the Trolls 3, which makes John Dory about 44.

He also gives me aromantic vibes, because like throughout the movie, he was really nonchalant when the romance bits came up, however subtle they are, he didn't give a damn lol.

Bruce is the second oldest at 40

He's such a Pisces! He's so empathetic, compassionate, and oh, so sensitive.

He and Clay definitely go all out for Pride (Bc Trolls are literally all spectrums of the rainbow! We learned that in Trolls 2! It'd be impossible NOT to have a big party for Pride), and drag their brothers and are literally so hype at the whole event and crashes MEGA hard the next morning and sleeps for a good 12 hours.

Floyd remained friends with Veneer because, c'mon they were vibing. He could see Veneer wanted someone to see him, so he convinced the Mount Rageous police to let the twins out for Pride.

Had a long talk with Velvet and helped her to see the error of her ways, and she began to be nicer to Veneer and listen to him.

Fav color is Black. He knows he slays the Rock Troll look.

I'm gonna settle this once and for all: Floyd is gay. The one earring in his right ear is a shout-out to his voice actor who is an openly gay singer.

Nickname(s): Flo (I feel like Branch couldn't pronounce Floyd's name yet when he was just learning to talk, so he called him Flo and it stuck.) Floydie (when his brothers tease him about his crush that he refuses to name.)

The hair in his face is like a comfort thing for him. He knows his hair is soft, and when he's bored, he plays with it, and twirls it around his fingers.

Floyd definitely has a collection of journals, from his songwriting to venting his feelings, and even (poorly drawn) doodles of his family.

Branch:

He is the youngest at 24 as stated earlier.

Pronouns: He/Him

Fav color: Midnight blue like his hair

This dude is hella smart; like has a super high IQ, but is super chill about it.

He and Poppy are that meme: Tired X Energetic on a level 10!

Nickname: Branchifer (Poppy calls him that when she's calling him out on his attitude or when she's about to start teasing him.)

Def an Aquarius: highly intellectual, creative, and likes to join in on social interactions when it's on his time. Poppy learned the hard way why she shouldn't force him to join in.

Similar to Floyd, he was a bunch of notebooks filled with songs he'd written.

Branch is shy when it comes to family PDA, like if his brothers were to group hug him, or if they tried to mother him, and gets especially prickly when they baby-talk him in front of others.

This dude is the prince of sarcasm, clearly picking that trait up from all his brothers. Like bro, why are you so sarcastic?!

Is undeniably the most sarcastic of the brothers. (His nieces and nephews start to pick up on that, much to Bruce's horror. Brandi thinks it's hilarious.)

Doesn't really like kids, but absolutely adores his nephew Bruce Jr ( I mean he loves them all, but has a soft spot for that boy.) Bruce Jr is autistic and nonverbal and struggles to communicate. I believe he uses TSL (Troll Sign Language), and when Branch learns this, he starts signing fluently with his nephew, surprising everyone, especially Bruce Jr, because not many people can sign so fluently, but then Branch explains, that he learned when he was younger because you could go deaf at any moment and it's such a useful skill.

Bruce Jr shows Branch his blueprints that he's made and honestly, if they wanted to, they could take over the world.

So, this scene is coming from a mod I'll link to in a reply (because I still think that posts don't appear in tags if links are in them that go off the site?), I feel like I should start off with.

Most of those lines we all have seen a dozen times before, I'm sure, but I still felt the need to share this. Because I can never get enough of him there's things in here that I absolutely loved getting.

Just, as a list I guess, because I don't think I can make a long text about it.

I do like that this has been set to be taking place close to graves - a nice nod to later. Also just kinda nice to have a scene happen outside of camp for a change (although it did teleport me away from where I was before the scene, like afterwards I had to waypoint back to the gauntlet of shar)

"I've been wearing my heart on my sleeve for a while" is not really Ari, but, that's okay.

The kiss actually mostly lining up there, because the mod has been made for bt1 in mind and thus adjusted the heights or something (read it on the mod, idk how else to explain). I just, I wish in the kisses mod the kisses would line up similarly, too. I assume that's not easy bc there's different bodytypes and everything and it's probably not like you can easily adjust that to automatically match or whatever, but, oh it was really nice to see the kiss lined up better than when I replay it through the kisses mod.

I absolutely love those last two lines there. I think I've seen videos of the "loving and adoring" one before but never got it myself? Or maybe I did and I'm just not sure right now, idk, but point is, I don't know how I'd even get that line in the default game, and I love hearing that and it fits so well into the scene especially after those multiple kisses, and just, thank you modder for adding that. And of course, the "a lot of fun together", is so nice to say because it's kinda mirroring the end scene (where I think this line is taken from in the first place, but, that's not the point), and I absolutely feel like it would have made 100% sense to have a line like that in the default scenes of it too. Idk.

But yes, I really liked seeing this modded scene - I'm curious about the flower and would love to, when using this mod, have it as like hairpiece or something to have my char wear afterwards or sth, but that as a sidenote - although I don't think I'll keep it as like, a regular or permanent mod to use. For now there's another mod for these scenes of his that I'll try in the next run (or more like the restart of this one bc I'll be able to have Ari as shadow sorc once I do the update I'm kinda trying to subconsciously postpone or sth), and after that, well, we'll see if I'll say I wanna go default or keep one of the two mods in "permanently".

Also, just, it's so amazing what modders can achieve. I'm so impressed.

⊹ — ARIES . ≻ how does your muse handle competition ? not the best, honestly! it's a good thing he tends to not struggle with most competitions; between being the top of his studies as well as the ace pilot of his class, he hasn't had to fight for much and lose. the few things he did are very bitter for him, spurring him to work thrice as hard for the next time around. ≻ what is your muse's biggest regret ? come back to this ≻ how does your muse handle losing control ? it sure does happen! and when it does, caleb tries his best to get a grip on himself quickly. luckily, he's pretty used to the tightrope that is managing his mental health, but there are certainly obvious slip ups. it's almost robotic the way he comes back from it, pushing down his own emotions. ≻ how does your muse express their passion ? they don't :) very often :) idk he mostly channels it into being supportive towards those who are special and close to him, if anything. he takes a lot of pride in being of service to those he loves, almost as if he has something to make up for.

⊹ — GEMINI . ≻ how does your muse communicate with others ? to the best of his ability, but that's not saying much. he communicates well, in a way — he's good at talking and making people comfortable. he's good at conveying what he wants to convey. however, that communication isn't always healthy. caleb can often withhold information he's not comfortable with sharing, and can sometimes be quite manipulative. which takes good communication skills in a way but...lol. he's also very dishonest when he has motive to be. ≻ how does your muse handle the duality within themselves ? keeping that shit. FAR behind lock and key. it scares caleb himself a lot of the time, so it's his worst nightmare when people start to take a closer look behind the façade he fronts. when caleb is forced to confront this, after meltdowns or during fights or whatever else the situation may be, it's very difficult for him to swallow. it's not that he's unaware; rather, it's moreso the exact opposite. he knows he isn't who he says he is, and he gets frustrated with himself when he breaks character. ≻ is your character predictable ? unpredictable ? predictable, for the most part. caleb's your boy next door, the jock, the top of the class, the nicest guy around. it's a script that's easy to follow, for the most part. but that also makes it all the more obvious when he does end up getting affected and reacting beyond this role he's made for himself. ≻ how does your muse react to change ? very poorly lol. so much of what he does is reliant on knowing the routine, knowing the field. he can adapt fairly well usually, but internally it sends almost a panic through him. he never knows whether it'll be change he can handle or change he can't. he never knows whether it'll be change that's worth it. but that's assuming it's change with regards to something that matters to him; if it's something outside of what he deems his concerns he kind of doesn't give a fuck? idk i feel like that sounds very contradictory but like. idk

⊹ — CANCER . ≻ how does your muse react to emotional manipulation ? it...depends on who you are to him. if you're someone he cares deeply about, i'm sure he notices on some level (i mean he's also somewhat manipulative so it's easy for him to spot it in others) but i feel like he'd let people he loves enough get away with anything. he knows he's no better. he may or may not be doing it back. if it's a stranger though, hypocritically not very well. it pisses him off, and he can struggle sometimes with putting that down to be the amicable caleb he is. ≻ what is your muse's most treasured family tradition ? come back to this. ≻ what is a cherished memory your muse holds close ? come back to this. ≻ how does your muse express love & care ? loudly, obsessively, routinely. he's at your beckon call. he remembers every single little thing — every favorite, every dislike, every allergy, every date in the calendar. he's a tease in a lot of ways, making fun of you for little quirks, but he's still ultimately the one who noticed whatever detail he's laughing about anyway. suffocatingly, he messages those he cares about constantly. he's always sending pictures of what reminds him of them, he's constantly buying little trinkets.

(though, i do like the idea of expanding upon an au with regards to his role as colonel, where he thrives on his leadership. one of the few things that makes him feel anything then. also i know he's technically also canonically a councilman in the praedator au, but i think in that au i'm going to really kind of twist canon just because. idk i think the idea of street rat caleb would be fun to write sue me. and there he hates it. sorry im very much so a plays in canon like a sandbox writer) ≻ what is your muse's most arrogant behavior ? ........most????? idk caleb has a lot of arrogant behaviors honestly. he's very outwardly full of himself. maybe the way he inserts himself into the lives of whoever he feels like he wants to know with little to no regard for how they'll receive him. because how could they respond anyway but positively, in his mind? what, you don't want this pie? i just finished baking it...he also always assumes that he can win a fight for better or worse. tbh i could go on for days but ≻ is your character confident ? charismatic ? charismatic? oh my god, to a ridiculous extent. he's great at talking and he's great with people. and usually he's quite confident as well, but most of the time it's also marred by a warped self perception as well. ≻ how does your muse handle being ignored ? about as immaturely as a 25 year old reasonably can. if you're not at work, he's blowing up your phone. if you're late to meet him after some other engagement, he's pouting when you meet him. he's not mean, but he makes a couple pointed jokes when you see him. god forbid you give him the cold shoulder for an extended period. tbh someone do that to him though im begging he'd be so pathetic and a little . erm. well if you wanna see his so called duality for yourself that is certainly a trigger he is not happy with you either.

⊹ — VIRGO . ≻ what is your muse's most dedicated project ? come back to this. ≻ how does your muse assist others in times of need ? depends on who it is. if it's a stranger or an acquaintance, he'll help, but no more than he really must. if it's a dear friend? baby, he would build a chariot to be sure the sun rose. he would light his house on fire if that wasn't enough to keep you warm. usually, thankfully, it's nothing a plushie and some snacks won't fix...but the lengths he's willing to go to remain unchanged. ≻ what are your muse's standards for themselves ? utterly ridiculous. caleb has a version of himself in his head that's nearly perfect in every way, and every day he tries to live up to that. the only test he's ever failed is his psych evaluations, and he finds this flaw of his to be very important to keep hidden. he has to be perfectly smart, perfectly kind, perfectly sane. two of these things are no problem. the third is almost never true, and if he dares get lax with himself it ruins the first two too. ≻ what does your muse find beauty in ? not much. the ones he loves. the ones he keeps the fight alive for. the ones he tries, genuinely, to be better for. most other things bore caleb at best.

... in which i examine my self-ships and try to determine if i have a type - while i use self-shipping to explore different areas of myself, let's see what the boys have in common (or not) with each other and with my irl type, perhaps!

✨ meet the cast

SO! a lot of updates since i last posted anything self-shippy here... let's just take you through who i'm including! i'll be listing my main self-ships below per series, with any secondary ships in brackets. these are sometimes within the same au / universe i imagine (like the occasional kuroo / atsumu love triangle i brew up) whereas others are different (osamu would be his own, not in the same one as atsumu). i'll explain those at a different time.

✨ mbti & personality

mbti: this one is so funny to me bc irl i don't think i could have an extrovert bf. i'd bring up one of those mbti compatibility wheels with my own, but in short, they say that ENFP with any sensor type isn't great, any intuitive type is good, with INFJ and INTJ being considered the top matches (which i can see with law). i won't get into functional stacks and deep analysis for now, but i can see these relationships being pretty combative with the exceptions of yukki and law. i don't normally get along w too many estj irl, so it fits w enemies to lovers i guess. i do have quite a few estp friends and we vibe well but not much deeper. entj is always a wild card for me... the reason i used to not self-ship w kazuya is bc chris is an infj who i thought fit w me more, but i always felt myself gradually coming back to kazuya (refer to my username LOLL) so i'm like... ok it's a damn self-ship just do it haha

enneagram: ok so i haven't delved too deep into enneagram & compatibility, so these i've pulled from pdb (which i know is controversial at times lmao but the best source i had). i can see kazuya and tsumu being the same time as i think having that type would really work for a pro athlete. laughing at jean's epithet of "the buddy" as well. it's interesting to me that yukki and i have the same enneagram but that i don't really have anyone too close - a lot of seeming opposites here but again, not too into enneagram (yet)

astrology: ... i don't do astrology stuff whatsoever LOL so if someone could tell me anything that you see from this chart that'd be great :') i know people use like... detailed ones but this is all i know, so enjoy! i'm a pisces while jean is an aries (april 7), yukki is a taurus (april 28) tsumu & law are libras (oct 5 & 6!), and kazuya is a scorpio (nov 17) - funny enough, same bday as former ship kuroo!

✨ appearance & features

facial appearance: not too much to gather from here besides the fact that none of my self-ships have blond hair or alternative hair colours for some reason (unless tsumu counts, which he does since his blond is so signature lol). other characters that i like do, though - just not my self-ships apparently! dark-haired boys are a weakness, i suppose.

height & build: i like taller men, sue me hahahaha (to be fair i think a lot of anime / manga just make their guys tall so it is what it is). i do think the guys here tend to be mostly what is described to be "lanky" in build (or maybe just law and jean tbh) and keep in mind kazuya and yukki's heights are before any timeskips here soooo canonically i feel like they'd grow even taller lmao since ofc i age em all up.

✨ observations

honestly? not much to gather here except for personality. irl (for long-term relationships at least) i almost exclusively go for introverts. whereas in fic i really love cocky men that i'm at odds with (typical enemies to lovers fan ig). but i like it that way - it lets me imagine that type of relationship because in practice, it's not a pleasant experience for me lmao. like, it's fun to tease but deep down, i crave comfort and security which is what i have in my relationship rn. 🩷 regardless, love all my f/os and self-shipping makes me happy, so there !!

in the future, i'm looking to do this but on a ship level - so what dynamics each self-ship f/o would have with me, the type of au they're in, how i'd imagine things like their love language and such... let's see if i ever get around to that.
