hi @teeteringpileofunusednotebooks and @nv-md! tysm for the tag + i’m sorry i’m so late!! mari – i’m ridic excited for your stupid number of WIPs – also i feel like you’ve started writing at least? two more? since you posted your version? i’m laughing, but with love. ali – your lines are all so perfect and make me miss ur writing so much! nv-md binge incoming!!! 

the last time i did this was exactly 10 published fics ago, so this is actually perfect timing! last time i also completely ignored the rules and talked in-depth about each line, and u kno what? tumblr is about the only place i feel comfortable being stupidly self-indulgent, so here we are again lmao 🙈

in reverse chronological order:

1. For Lack of Wanting (8.4k, E, unrequited drarry)

I was obsessed with him, you know.

(this line and also the entire first section is so tell-y but tbh i purposefully didn’t care. i just wanted to write some fucked-up unrequited roleplay sex, you know? sometimes you have to forget about writing good and just treat urself)

2. Still the pine-woods scent the moon (15.5k, E, remus/harry)

It seems like a reasonable idea, at first.

(so this fic actually started off as a sirius/harry after i went on a huge @lqtraintracks bender one weekend [and if u haven’t already, stop what ur doing and go inhale all 19 lqt sirius/harry fics immediately]. then i realised there was nothing i could really add to a sirius/harry fic that hadn’t been done already - but i came across this art and it lodged itself into my brain forever. it’s just the vibes, u know?? how soft remus looks but also the way he’s looking right at the camera?? that man is in CONTROL. so anyway then obv i needed to find a way to get him into grimmauld place so he could walk in on draco fucking harry in the arse. thus: first line.)

3. Ferrety Little Mouths and How to Snog with Them (5k, T/M, soft drarry kissing)

“And she lost her shit, can you believe it?”

(can’t rly take credit for this one; this whole section with draco talking about his ex is almost word-for-word a convo i had with a friend about their ex and their friend who was weird about it. not quite sure the phrase “she lost her shit” was used, but that was def the vibe.)

4. Two to Lie and One to Listen (85k, E, drarry fake relationship [sort of])

She’d got another letter from the Ministry that morning. It was from the Muggle Liaison Office this time. 

(god, this fic. in the very first draft, hermione was the legit villain: the sort of friend who is well-meaning and loudly supportive, but is lowkey bigoted and doesn’t think that queer relationships are as meaningful as straight ones. then before the first big rewrite i started thinking more about her motivations and had the idea of making her trans – both to give her a non-bigot reason for agreeing to help draco hide his sexuality and not tell harry about it [it’s all about the trauma, folks!!], but also as a nice little fuck-you to jkr. so then she needed more of her own storyline, bc it felt like a bit of a cop-out to be like “hey this character is trans i swear! anyway let’s mostly ignore her and have her get in the way of the main pairing” [which, honestly, is still sort of the vibe of the fic], so she got her big Let’s Change The World Campaign.

the first version of this prologue was from draco POV; the second version was hermione POV but she was sooo mean and angry; this one is the third attempt. i wanted to show her desperate attempts at making any kind of change, anywhere at all, so it’s a bit more plausible that when she runs into draco malfoy, she’s like “ok yeah sure let’s pretend to be boyfriendgirlfriend!” lol. also does it bother anyone else that there are three different tenses in this one line? everything about this fic makes me sick lmfao)

5. Per my last letter (I hope you choke on it) (10k, T, epistolary author!harry/publishing-grunt!draco)

CURRICULUM VITAE: Draco L. Malfoy

(can’t remember whose idea it was to start with a cv? it seems like the sort of lazy backstory shortcut i would do, lmao, unless it was actually @lastontheboat​’s idea, in which case it was a genius move to introduce draco’s work struggle and set the tone for his journey thru the rest of the fic)

6. An Auror Error (1k, T, stupid drarry auror fic written in tongue-twisters)

Harry shivered under Malfoy’s stern glare.

(1. wanted it to be left a bit ambiguous what harry’s actually feeling here [reality: he’s shivering bc he thinks draco is sexy when he glares, but also he could be scared bc he’s being interrogated?] 2. playing around a little bit with the s/sh sounds. easing into the nonsense to come.)

7. Eight o’clock, tomorrow evening (11.5k, E, drarry legilimency sex)

It was seven fifty-five, and Draco’s stomach churned.

(listen, i thought i was doing something with the title being a line from the end of The Four Doors, which this fic is a lil sequel to. this first line was (a) tying that together even more and also (b) establishing the POV switch from harry POV in 4D)

8. The Taste of Țuică (15k, E, ron/harry/draco)

Mum always says my problem is that I care too much. I think that’s nonsense, honestly—one of those meaningless things mums say to make you feel better about overreacting to stupid shit. But I can’t deny that I care about my friends. I mean, really care about them. You know?

(i’m including the whole first line here instead of just the sentence bc i was trying to do sooo much here, lmao. first, i wanted to really ground this fic in ron POV, and the weasleys are so very Family [u know??], so i wanted to get that in asap. i also wanted to get in ron’s maybe-demisexuality in there – i love love LOVE getting characters to explicitly state something about themselves while also simultaneously not realising it at all [seriously i do this all the time, promptly forget about this if ever u plan to read one of my fics bc it will be all u can see now haha] and this absolutely an example of that. poor old ron is going “hey i love my friends soooo much, i love hermione, and also i love harry, i just love them both SO MUCH. wait why tf did i kiss harry that one time???” what a chump.)

9. Belatedly Consummated (4k, E, drarry post-arranged marriage fuck)

The problem is: Harry can’t stop touching Draco.

(idk man i just really liked the thought of these two idiots having to cohabit and try to remain platonic while they get a magical boner every time they touch each other ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ this one also gave me a chance to do another thing i rly like to do, which is take the first line and make it the last line, except the last line is somehow Resolved. last lines are fuckin HARD, i use this trick all the time, pls also forget this one before reading any of my fics, ty)

10. Show them the night that they dreamed about before (6.5k, E, percy/harry/draco)

Draco’s first thought is, Huh, Potter’s here again.

His second thought is, What is he doing, bent over the desk like that?

His third thought is, Oh. Weasley is fucking him.

(i think this was the first thing i wrote for this fic and i lowkey still love it. i think it’s maybe a bit confusing? clunky? i feel like one of my beta’s didn’t like it? but it makes me laugh and also i enjoy the mental image of percy going to town on harry and draco standing there experiencing a whole-ass face journey while otherwise completely motionless, so.)

BONUS WIPS:

1. 10k/15kish written, E, silly drarry vagina fic

As soon as Harry wakes up, he knows that Something is Not Right.

(i feel like this might stay the same in the final version? this wip is about 5 years old lmao but i’ve been playing with this beginning section a bit recently. have made it 100% sillier and imo it’s improved it so much. still not sure i’ll ever finish it.)

2. 27k/50kish written, M, drarry polyjuice clubfic

In general, Harry is grateful for Hermione’s efforts to keep him alive.

(i strongly suspect i’m going to rewrite this entire first scene once i actually finish the fic and realise there are secret themes that currently elude me. atm it works as a way of getting them to where they need to be [on a brisk morning walk!] and also as a joke later on in the fic, but there’s nothing else really going on with it.)

I have a lot of zeo and Toby (and just general team dungeon) centric hcs that I’ve thought of for a while and I’m brainrotting again so I’m just gonna dump em

buckle in cuz there’s a lot

- I’ve established this one already but zeo is insecure about how Toby is taller than him and copes with platform boots

- Post-arrangement, both of them feel a bit of resentment towards their changed hair.

(This whole next section is very long and just gonna be about the effects of the arrangements mostly on Toby bc I have many thoughts abt it)

-While Zeo just waits until his hair grows out a little more and then chops off his blonde tips, Toby’s hair stays silver for a very long time, and for a while they just think it’s gonna stay like that permanently.

- However, one day Toby looks in the mirror and realizes his roots are growing back brown and excitedly runs to show the others

-Even after his hair grows back it’s natural color, ae still has a permanent silver streak, as well as a little bit of silver still on his eyelashes and eyebrow

- also, IT WAS A MASSIVE MISSED OPPORTUNITY TO NOT GIVE HIM HETEROCHROMIA POST-ARRANGEMENT. HIS EYES WENT FROM PURPLE TO GREY I THINK IT WOULD JUST BE NEAT IF AFTERWARDS HE HAD ONE OF EACH

- I’ve also touched on this in past drawings but Zeo and Toby are together and it makes Masamune feel like a third wheel, so he goes to King and is like “hey will you date me just to spite them pls” and King’s like “hell yeah”

- it became real dating eventually

- afterwards, coach steel had a “my god, these bitches gay! good for them, good for them” moment

- Zeo and Toby can both cook and they like to cook together, meanwhile Masamune and King are banned from the kitchen

- Even though they were basically unofficially dating for forever, once Zeo and Toby actually got together, Zeo suddenly became very awkward and nervous about couple-y things, even though they’d already been that affectionate with each other before

- When they announced that they were dating, the entire rest of dungeon gym was like “wait you weren’t already?”

- they have matching jewelry bc I said so

- After everything that went down, Toby surprisingly didn’t get sick AT ALL anymore, so when he got a mild cough for the first time in a while, Zeo absolutely flipped his lid

- it went away after like 3 cough drops but Zeo still freaked out about it

-Toby gets incredibly excited when he realizes a sweater has thumb holes on the sleeves

sticking this under the cut because i’m about to unleash an essay on yall about my ot3 but read on if you wish to find out more about them...

spoilers for 5.3!!!

so immediately after bringing g’raha and the scions back to the source, hallura has a total breakdown in private about how suddenly she has to live with extremely deep love for two people with BOTH of those people now very present in her life (for anyone who doesn’t know i had an extreme crisis about hallura’s endgame ship which i detailed, in part, in this chapter’s comment section) 

to recap hallura’s love life until this point: she fell in love with raha and planned to propose to him before he locked himself into the crystal tower, and then during the events of heavensward started sleeping with aymeric as a coping mechanism. eventually feelings were admitted and they started seeing each other seriously in secret; hallura proposed at the end of stormblood and then they went public with their relationship after the ghimlyt dark. THEN hallura got summoned to the first and discovered her first true love who she definitely never stopped loving was alive and also was very much in love with her, and since then she’s been carrying a guilt over having feelings for two people and it’s been eating away at her

BUT YOU CAME HERE FOR AYMERIC AND G’RAHA’S ROMANCE...so let us begin :)

they actually get to know each other when hallura kind of goes awol on both of them; once raha was done convalescing (she stayed by him every day) hallura went back to aymeric and spent one night with him but was totally silent the whole time, and then the next day she was gone off to ghimlyt to deal with the threat of the sapphire weapon.

except she didn’t come back right after that, or after a few days, and only through the grapevine did either raha or aymeric find out that she’d then jumped over to gangos to help the bozjan resistance. aymeric actually took a trip to the rising stones in secret, where he was found by raha, and that was the first time they met each other...aymeric wasn’t sure what to think (i wouldn’t say he felt threatened but he was definitely uncomfortable) and raha was extremely embarrassed but secretly very enchanted by aymeric (catboy got MAD flustered over him he could 100% see why hallura would choose aymeric)

aymeric learned a long time ago from thancred who g’raha was, though i don’t think he realized how deeply hallura loved raha still, and when aymeric would pay visits to the scions post-5.3, alphinaud and alisaie filled him in on what happened on the first since hallura could never bring herself to, and piece by piece aymeric started to understand just how much hallura was probably breaking over her feelings

and meanwhile raha was dealing with his own internal struggle upon returning to his new body, wherein his more temperate crystal exarch persona was failing to overcome the more hot-blooded g’raha tia’s still-fresh feelings for hallura and in typical g’raha tia fashion he decided to do something extremely stupid and punish/restrain himself by ensuring he saw aymeric as much as possible to remind himself how he didn’t fit into the picture anymore...

it’s during this time (a few months i’d say) that they kind of just get to know each other...and i think honestly aymeric falls first? i talk a lil bit about it here; raha is super hopeful and positive and just everything that brings out the best in aymeric, and aymeric quickly understands just why hallura loved g’raha so much. he drinks big Respect Hallura juice, and even though it’s hard for him to admit, he agrees with her taste - raha is a wonderful person who has a lot of love to give, and pretty soon aymeric is like oh god. oh fuck. well. i guess we’re going in! (definitely inspired to be a little chaotic romantically because of hallura, but the chaotic bi energy was there to begin with) 

raha’s a lot slower on the uptake re: self-penance, but once aymeric sets his sights on wooing raha it’s over for the catboy...raha is too much of a romantic and too SWEET to not just freakin swoon over a tall elegant dark-haired man actively attempting to Get Him. like aymeric he is also very much approving of hallura’s taste, but unlike aymeric he also denies himself hope - so basically we just have aymeric courting (discreetly) raha; the other scions are kind of surprised to see hallura’s paramours getting along so well in her absence but hey man if it works it works and better that then to have them fight yo

but all this time hallura is GONE like she just....she’s gone lol

she only chooses to return to eorzea (a HOT minute later) to break off her engagement with aymeric because she was so so guilty about loving raha still - but she didn’t break it off to leave for raha. she’s determined to give up on relationships altogether and just be single for the rest of her life because she’s certain she’ll never get over either of them, but neither of them deserve to live in what SHE thinks is limbo while she fights her own feelings.

so surprise surprise when she returns and finds both aymeric and g’raha absolutely chilling with each other in ishgard at the borel manor and they’re both reading by the fireplace and she comes in and sees them and they’re both so so happy to see her, and her perfectly rehearsed rejection just evaporates from her mind and she tries to run away again because this has to be some kind of sick joke - 

in this ot3 i attribue most of the communication to aymeric, and he, while thrilled to see her again, straight up is like “no you sit down we’re having a talk right now” and she confesses on the spot she has to leave him and can’t be engaged to him because it’s not fair to him that she’ll never get over raha - which is ALSO a confession to raha that she still loves him (and let’s be real it was clear that she did but g’raha is a river in egypt called de nile and never let himself believe it)

there’s a lot of crying involved; aymeric is obviously upset because he doesn’t want to not be engaged to hallura, and he tells her on the spot that she can’t do that because that’s not fair, and all he wants is for them to talk to each other, and they’re both kneeling on the floor and he’s clutching her shoulders and that’s when raha just gently touches both of them and says he’ll just leave...it’s his fault they’re falling apart like this

and both hallura and aymeric both ADAMANTLY say “NO!” and latch onto him, and then all three of them are crying on the floor and there’s lots of apologies and none of them really know how much time has passed, but eventually they cry themselves out and it ends with hallura’s head in aymeric’s lap and she’s holding raha’s hand and aymeric and raha are sitting beside each other...raha is so exhausted he’s leaning against aymeric’s shoulder

and hallura breaks the silence after a while and says “so where do we go now?” because it’s very obvious that there is no going back to the way things were, and that’s when aymeric clears his throat and admits (with embarrassment) that he’d be open to trying something with all three of them

raha is like Excuse me? and hallura sits up bc what the heck has she missed, and aymeric then admits further that he’s caught feelings for raha and has even slightly been trying to court raha...much to raha’s embarrassment he’s like “you were WHAT? so i wasn’t just imagining it?”

and hallura is like...she can’t even be mad because a) that’s exactly her own dilemma and b) that’s also really hot,,, but while she would be happy to do it everything hinges on g’raha’s consent; and it takes raha a moment to process but honestly when presented with two open hands waiting for him (him, not just any third party) he cannot help but take them with a smile. and i think this is really important for g’raha because hallura and aymeric BOTH actively express interest in HIM, for who he is, there is room in the relationship that can only be filled by raha, and raha is someone who wants so very desperately to belong.

so of course he says yes, and that’s how the ot3 is really born. there’s some more talking about things - living arrangements, scolding hallura for ghosting them for like 3 months, what the heck are they gonna tell the scions - but eventually they settle on a three-way engagement of sorts, and they’re all going to have matching rings and other cute bs

they are very much founded on feelings first!!!!!!! hallura might be the biggest thot in the world who actively makes aymeric into a thot as well but to me there is no way they could have survived as a functioning ot3 if it was not based in emotion. raha is too in his head and aymeric is too much of a thinker for something purely physical to last, imo.

...that is not to say, however, that they aren’t physically compatible - they are most definitely physically compatible. (for content sake i shall keep this post sfw but if you were to send an nsfw ask...i’m just saying i will definitely answer 👀)

dynamic wise (and this is where i get meta, the characters fall into these roles without necessarily realizing it themselves LOL i love being the writer) the ot3 can be summed up like this:

aymeric: the thinker (left brain LOL)

raha: the dreamer (right brain LDKJGLSKJD)

hallura: the heart

raha & aymeric represent the rationality of the relationship and do a lot of talking, a lot of planning, and a lot of smiling together. they’re the leaders, so it’s in their nature to have a game-plan for things. raha inspires the best in aymeric: his enthusiasm is infectious and really stokes aymeric’s determination, and aymeric draws a lot of strength and inspiration from raha’s own knowledge as a leader that coexists with his belief that mankind is worth saving. there is an EXTREMELY healthy amount of mutual respect here, and these two are absolutely the “romantic looks over papers that they could honestly care less about” plus aymeric finds raha’s allagan nerding ADORABLE; raha is just absolutely smitten with how charming aymeric is and very much admires his determination to overcome the obstacles set against him, and how aymeric loves his people despite ishgard’s very prominent flaws.

hallura & raha represent the spontaneity of the relationship - they don’t let their feelings control them per se, but they’re the ones who really say “screw restraint” and push the relationship into the unknown - exploring new parts of the relationship, experiencing the world together, excitement for growth and change. these two are allergic to stagnation and are constantly striving to be dynamic (in my piece “fade” i touch on how i think raha’s controlled crystal exarch persona gives way to his younger, more carefree self, in a good way) and they serve very much as the relationship’s “light”, which is not to say that aymeric is not bright for them, but hallura and raha are more like the sun as aymeric is like the moon. these two are the “batteries” of the relationship and keep things exciting and fresh.

hallura & aymeric represent the confidence and assuredness of the relationship - they have spent a LOT of time together already and have a very good grasp on what they like, what they want, etc. they are both quite confident in themselves and they uplift raha from his insecurities to show him just how much he’s worth. when confronted with outside criticism or scorn these two are the ones who stand their ground; they have the experience to show for their commitment and they’re very much teachers in the way that raha is still a learner. they are also the comforters - aymeric is very good at soothing, and hallura is very good at talking someone’s ear off to help them feel better LOL these two are the romantically matured ones and they set the example for give and take of the relationship.

it’s not always perfect, there are definitely spats and each has their notable quirks. hallura is the fighter, and if she doesn’t understand something she’ll call it out or say something, and that can be a little abrasive; raha has a lot of self-confidence issues and has trouble vocalizing his needs, which leads to some miscommunications at the start; and aymeric has a tendency to ice people out when he’s upset and while he’s the logical one he is also the one who remembers stuff - THIS is the grudge holder LMAOSDKJFLLGLHSLDKFGLJ 

but all in all i think they balance each other out relatively well! i will admit that i worked really hard to find a dynamic that worked realistically for them - i was terrified of just slamming them together because it was “easier”. i told myself if i was going to write an ot3 i was going to do it justice, and besides the relationship dynamics are just that much more fun to write especially for someone like me who delights in exploring the details of every interaction LOL

Sooooo I heard from some little birdies that you went to your first svt concert in Dallas, and was just wondering if you could give us a little rundown of how it (your first concert!) went and any thoughts or things that you noticed?

Yes I did! I was extremely nervous beforehand (my best friend was coming, and he isn’t into KPop, so I was worried he wouldn’t enjoy it) but I really had no reason to be! My 60+ father also came and got to cheer on Woozi, so he was pretty happy too haha

I’ll put my thoughts and what happened under the cut, just in case people don’t wanna see it on their dash lol

Okay! So, I actually got SUPER “sick” after the concert so the rest of the night was not fun, but I enjoyed it quite a bit. My mind is sort of all over the place so this may not be in order lol

Hoshi tried to teach us the chant that I’m sure he teaches every crowd, and told us that it’s easy and we couldn’t mess it up (he underestimated our potential of being stupid lol). He told us to go “jjak jjak, ode to you” with some hand motions and we all deadass just repeated “jjak jjak” instead of actually clapping. It started a running joke and for a while (and during the encore) they would end all of their sentences with “jjak jjak” to mock us lol

It was Seungkwan’s birthday, so we all got to sing happy birthday to him! I felt sort of bad that we didn’t sing it in Korean, esp when he said it was his first birthday away from Korea, but he seemed happy ☺️

Speaking of feeling bad, they did a little segment where we all had to continue the lyrics they gave us, and Woozi sang his solo song Simple and not enough of us knew the lines after the chorus 😔😔 I’m sorry Woozi!! Seokmin was fucking radiant, as always, being able to see him in person for the first time it was really fucking clear what a nice guy he was, he genuinely just wanted everyone to enjoy themselves. (He made a comment about how we all reacted well to whatever he did, and when we ofc screamed at that his smile was blinding, it was beautiful)

Ngl, Wonwoo did not come to fuck around. Boy dropped low (physically AND vocally) more times than I could count and I for the first time ever was in dangerous territory lol he tried to bias wreck me hard

Never fucking ending encore, continuously replaying the last moments of Aju Nice just so Seungkwan could be forced to dance more since it was his birthday lol - if he looks sweaty in the pics uploaded afterwards, that’s why, he alone did like, six encores

Jeonghan was super subdued though - idk if that’s how he really is (since I’ve never seen him in person before this) but he continuously faded into the background and during any of his talking bits he seemed a bit out of sorts, so I hope he’s okay and didn’t force himself!

Joshua fucking snatched my best friend - all my friend is talking about now is Josh, and honestly, fucking same. He wore a dusky rose colored tux coat and tie with a sort of pastel blue shirt and honestly I couldn’t take my eyes off of him, he’s fucking 😍

Big shoutout to the gag trio for persisting with English even after they messed up and/or got tongue-tied (which they did a few times). It was really sweet and appreciated. Specifically to Hoshi, who would not fucking REST until we were having a good time, bless that boy he works so damn hard. Also hearteu to Minghao for not knowing the lyrics for another person’s verse in the encore and just giving us the most adorable “uhh..” into the mic we’ve ever heard

Bit of a weird thing regarding Dino’s ending ment - the translator said that he said “I feel like you all only gave 50% out of 100%” but then he followed that up with “you all were perfect” in English, so idk man lol (I’ll be honest, I wasn’t listening to his Korean closely enough to know, too many things were happening lol)

I only recorded a few things (and while I wish I recorded more, I know I wouldn’t have enjoyed the concert as much if I had, so kudos to those who do fancams omg) but my favorite was the group singing Smile Flower/Laughter, and both Josh and Vernon delivering a very sweet message to us before we sang it back to them, so I’m glad that I recorded that out of everything else Woozi was listening SO INTENTLY that the feeling of judgement he was projecting was impossible miss.. I just dunno if we satisfied him or not lmao

Ik they won’t actually remember this concert as much as they claimed, but it was really sweet how they focused so much on the “making good memories” aspect of it 💕

Seungcheol, you were missed! I’m not sure anyone was cheered for louder than you, so please take it easy and be resting well! We all love you and want the best for you 💝

Bless Woozi for doing most of his ending ment in English - I know it’s got to be nerve-wracking and just uncomfortable in general to do it in a language you aren’t fluent in, but it was much appreciated by everyone!

The general consensus by them was that we were super “energetic” and “crazy”, which is prob bc despite doing the fanchants (my section, at least) everyone screamed along with the lyrics too lmao. Pretty sure that’s what most of their concerts in the states are like, but it’s nice of them to say things like that regardless

I don’t regret spending the money to go at all - I was dubious that it would affect me a lot since my depression has gotten a lot worse, but I felt genuinely calm and happy during it. I also stood the whole time anyway, so next time I’ll just buy the tickets for near the stage 😂 It’s strange, seeing them in person - you just get this weird sense of what good people they are, how they really love what they do and want to spread happiness through it. Lmao my friend afterwards asked me “...you ever think about how we were that close to them but we will never ever actually get to know them as real people?” and yes, I fucking do, and it’s an uncomfortable feeling, but all I can really do is wish and hope that they have happy lives 😔☺

If anyone else went and wants to scream at me about the boys, please feel free to!! It was an amazing night and I am genuinely glad I forced myself out of my comfort zone to go

After that practice is done, you get oddly sick to your stomach again, meaning ~the transformation is almost complete~

“Well, you won't have too, don’t worry. My dad arranged your stuff to be kept somewhere until he can pick it up”

Minghao gets a little confused because he doesn’t understand why you’d want to go back

he thought you loved it here?

it’s a little hard for him to understand, having lived in the mansion his whole long immortal vampire life…

But he doesn’t want you to be sad, so he asks his dad if he can take you to Vampire Square!

which is just the vampire night market lol

so before you wander off, he takes you to this tailor who takes your measurements

Then you go out to explore the market/square w/Hao while the tailor sews up a surprise

Minghao treats you by trading books for some cake since you can finally eat sugary stuff!! also coconut water since your body has enough blood in it again

((I realize I never really explained shopping in my other vamp au, but they don’t really use money lol they trade objects or favours since everyone knows each other))

it’s a small, chill night market, so there are lights everywhere and you get to watch tiny vampire kiddos and spot a few other creatures roaming around

it makes you realize how… human they are

yknow… hahah… just humans… who have to drink blood or coconut water… and have superhuman abilities… yeah

After ur nice cough cough DATE with Hao, he takes you back to the tailor who has prepared some fancy clothes for you!!

The tailor is like “a stunning outfit for a stunning vampire! I assume it’s for the ball, yes?”

and ur like. what ball lmao

Minghao answers for you and explains to you what the ball is on ur way home

Which is via CAPE TELEPORTATION btw!!

(some capes allow for teleportation and other capes help you turn into bats, etc etc (it’s how Mingyu teleported in his vampire au btw))

So every year around Halloween, there's this Vampire Ball™ for all the vampires at the Vampire Prince’s castle, aka JUNHUI’S CASTLEEE

Btw if you haven't read my Vampire!Mingyu series, note that Jun isn’t king bc his mother is technically queen still but she’s in hiding rn

His Royal Highness is a bit mad that Minghao bit someone on the streets since it’s illegal

...but with Mr. Xu’s lawyer skills and the fact that Jun is a nice person (also the fact this has happened recently but was resolved well *cough* Mingyu) you were allowed to live!

and that’s how this almost became vampire politics akjfdh anyway

The night of the Vampire Ball, the 3 of you in the Xu residence change into formal clothing

Hao looks so fine, he’s got a suit on that’s accented w/a red carnation in his pocketand of course he’s got his cape on bc he looks heckin c o o l with that on

functional and fashionable eheh

he has a real proud dad who’s like omg did you get y/n a matching outfit? (yes)

you’re the last to get ready and do that slow walk down the stairs to where Minghao & Mr. Xu are waiting

Hao is obviously like o shit okay okay don’t panic don’t pani—

“…wow”

Mr. Dad: “Minghao, your jaw is physically dropped, please be polite and close your mouth”

Eventually, you get to the castle, which has been decorated w/shades of red

it’s real fancy and all these vampires are dressed up and have nice accessories,

it’s like you’ve been transported back in time to another century!

there are vamps playing classical music and everything

like oh is that a dude on double bass?? hell yeah, you fine sir

and Prince Junhui proposes a toast to another year of living!

Mr. Xu goes off to talk business with some older vampires

So you get to spend time with Hao and dance!!

he was able to get you to ballroom dance with him uwu

Finally, you could be at peace and live in a dream

but peace doesn’t come that easy around here…

there’s obviously gonna be some wine, and you get kind of intoxicated oops

you get a bit moody and start thinking of home back in the city

as much as you love being here with Hao, it’s probably caused so much trouble with your friends/family who’ve likely reported you as missing at this point

Hao notices you looking sad and looking up to the moon in the centre of a garden of roses

he steps next to you and takes your hand

a section of the roses starts to glow, but he ignores it bc he just wants to understand

he can’t really know firsthand what it feels like to be far from home, but maybe you can help him understand that?

maybe then he could feel human?

so he wraps his cape around you and teleports you somewhere else

When your eyes adjust to the dark, you see city lights and trees

Hao just whispers to you, “We can’t be here for long, stay close to me”

you’re at an empty park at the edge of the city, sitting close to Hao on a bench

“Wha—Minghao why are we here?”

“I want to know what it’s like to be far from the mansion. This is the deepest part of the city I’ve been in… And I thought you’d want to be closer to home, too.”

“Thank you, Hao”

You sit silently with him, slowly falling asleep on his shoulder until he has to take you back to the garden

When you return, there’s a small crowd gathered around you

Mr. Xu is in shock or smth, “Minghao did you—was this you?”

You’re obviously like. uh what

but there’s a whole prophecy or something and because of your little trip to the park,,, you’ve got another scheduled appointment at Vampire Court™

but don’t worry, you’ve got a vampire lawyer and a vampire boyfriend by your side~

episode 19 thoughts

this is... the most screenshot heavy post i’ve made so far, lmao, so please bear with me. as i’ve said, this is one of my favorite duels, and there’s a lot that gets covered here. like, seriously, i haven’t written this post out yet but i can guarantee this will be my longest so far lmao.

the beginning of the episode starts off fairly standard, and mostly dueling:

i really do love the pacing of this duel. i was glued to the edge of my seat while watching these episodes. i remember it so clearly, too, because i’d been binge watching from episode 16 that day, and got to like, 24 by the time i stopped, lmao.

ai does a lot of cute/funny stuff this episode, to help break up some of the more dark tones of the rest of it, like this:

it really makes me miss hi in this form :( i really like his soltis form, don’t get me wrong, but i miss him on yusaku’s wrist lol. i would say when things were less angsty, but, well. lmao.

we very quickly get akira’s rad boss monster summoned out:

and seriously, i just love the animation for it. it’s so sick. the door, the fire, how it looms behind him at first.... aaaaaa. so cool.

and of course the classic:

the worst part about this line is it’s said so often (esp in arc v LOL) that i actually. have slipped up and said it in normal, day to day conversation before. my boyfriend looked at me for like a minute and gave me the deepest sigh i’ve ever heard the first time i did that pff.

also:

i couldn’t not screencap this, given what my blog is for LOL

every time something reminds me of that painful final duel, i have to screencap it and make you guys sad with me. if i have to be sad seeing all this stuff, knowing where their relationship goes and how the series ends, so do you.

also, though, i forgot how often this was brought up before the bohman duel lmao. it makes that theory look a lot more credible, so it’s cool that it had all these little hints towards it, even if it ultimately wasn’t true.

seriously, my heart. i don’t think i need to talk much about this scene to make y’all sad, but really. they went from this to i loved you. ugh, god, i’m so sad thinking about it lmao.

there is so much to talk about between akira and playmaker and even blue angel in this episode, so i guess we’ll start here.

it is hard to decide that you want to take control of your trauma and do something about it. it is not easy. to see yusaku fight for that right so thoroughly is incredible, and really, really validating.

more sadness! seriously, this is too much. this deck was created specifically for him by ai. i don’t like this anymore lmao

but even besides that, often times the protag’s decks mean a lot to them, obviously, but i love that it wasn’t built strictly by yusaku. his cards were literally made by ai, and i think that’s such a cool twist. 

but then, akira’s speech:

i talked last time about akira wanting to handle things himself, and i briefly touched on him thinking he knows best...

but i really admire how calm yusaku stays at that tbh. he gets angry, reasonably so imo, but he takes this so well. i know i was a much more volatile kid then he is, so respect lol

i’ve spoken at length already about akira, but i also want to talk again about how oblivious he is. he is so blinded by his own thoughts and feelings on the situation that he doesn’t stop to think about how yusaku might be feeling -- and worse, honestly, how his sister might be feeling.

it was why he was so visibly shocked when emma mentioned a few episodes ago that aoi wasn’t just a little kid anymore. it’s so clear that he still, at the moment, sees her as the six year old girl he swore to protect, and not the sixteen year old person she’s become. he doesn’t think about how she might be feeling towards his actions, or why she does what she does.

this is highlighted as early as episode 6 iirc, when he asks her why aren’t you happy? as much as i, personally, dislike his character, i can’t deny it’s very realistic and well written.

speaking of aoi:

i love how she’s written in this episode, too. but her entrance here is great, and i love how she stands up to him about this. it’s minor, but it’s still a good step. when she’s blue angel -- or blue girl, or blue maiden -- she feels comfortable doing that. at least a little, and it obviously grows throughout the series. i hope that transfers over to the real world for her, too.

and then, we finally get the full story:

i remember flinching when he started talking about it, remembering the shots of yusaku getting electrocuted from his duel with revolver.

i really love this. i said it last episode, but vrains handles yusaku’s trauma so realistically and it’s amazing.

i remember originally staring open mouthed at my tv screen while this part played. we got a bit of it from the other episode, but the full context truly shocked me. where’s that post that says “who thought this was an acceptable backstory to give to a card game protag” bc honestly??? YEAH

it’s still hard to watch. it’s still hard to see play out, even if it’s only fiction. even though i’ve seen these clips so many times, and written about them in detail a few times too. doesn’t matter lol. watching it in context actually still made my stomach drop.

which leads me to talk about reactions to this, actually:

the two that vrains focuses heavily on are blue angel’s and kusanagi’s, and they contrast really well here imo.

blue angel’s is a normal reaction. it’s horrified, both at the thought of it happening and at the fact that someone would actually do that to another person -- a six year old child, no less.

kusanagi’s is strained. he is angry hearing about this, thinking about jin. we’ve been told, and have seen in the last few episodes, how much the lost incident impacted kusanagi and his brother, but i really love that the show tells us that here, too, and shows the difference between hearing about a tragedy and being involved in some manner.

i did not expect it at all when first watching vrains, and honestly, it still impresses me how gracefully they handled it coming off of arc v (cough, shun i love you but really cough cough). no hate on arc v at all, it’s my third favorite ygo very close behind gx, but the difference between the two on how they handle these things is staggering.

this whole section makes me thing that ryoken talked to yusaku fairly often, after the first time. which is something i don’t see brought up often? but that’s so important imo. it meant that yusaku had someone encouraging him not just once or twice, but on the regular, but also it meant that ryoken was constantly risking himself to comfort that child. 

we don’t see too much of ryoken when he’s a kid, but we do see him scared and crying over the lost incident. the fact that he was able to talk calmly to this child so many times is really amazing. it also makes more sense as to why ryoken feels so guilty over calling the police -- he probably felt that maybe if he had just kept up his encouragement, the kids would’ve all gotten out okay and his father wouldn’t be in a coma. 

this was so powerful. it’s obvious, and i think anyone with half a brain would understand that the LI isn’t something that a kid would recover from easily, but i love this anyways. 

he wasn’t saved. and even if he was in body, it’s still something he and all the other victims will live with for the rest of their lives.

this also is something i don’t feel like people bring up enough, but does this mean that yusaku went around asking the kids at the hospital when he was rescued? it’s not hard to believe they were all put together, at least for a short amount of time, but it’s still something i feel like people overlook. 

i also love this, because it’s nice foreshadowing to how revolver feels. he’s not captured, not like yusaku and the lost kids were, but he is a prisoner. and just like ryoken saved yusaku, way back then, he is determined to repay the favor.

not just because of that, either. because that voice meant so much to him. because that voiced saved him. because that voice understood him, and was there for him in his hardest moments. god i love them.

i love this shot. it’s so dramatic, how the match the drum beats with flashes of everyone’s reactions.

but it drives home his point, and while i know most of akira’s development came through emma and aoi, i’m sure this helped, too. 

i’ve sung vrains praises this entire post, but i’ll do it again -- this is incredible. this is so realistic. it’s so well portrayed. and it’s really honest to god incredible that we got a protag in ygo who was shown going to therapy. 

ygo has always dealt with some pretty dark subject matter, and it’s never really been shy about showing it on screen. i’m not saying that at all. arc v obviously dealt with some pretty heavy stuff, and while i haven’t seen zexal (keep shaming me please) i know it does, too. 5ds obviously has the dark signer arc, and the later arcs concerning bruno and also yusei’s father, and gx has... well, it’s entire third and fourth season. 

but we see everyone healing via card games. we see those shows talk about these things, but kind of at the same time, skirt around the subject matter; or if they do go deep into it, they pull out (ie 5ds) or the characters don’t get resolved properly (ie arc v). 

idk where i was going with this but i just really love that this happened, this was shown on screen, and they stuck to yusaku’s character. they didn’t just... up and make his trauma and his world view disappear at the end. he has a bittersweet ending, but it suited him and his development. a lot of people were mad about it, and i get it -- i wanted him to be happy, too.

but that’s not always the case, and it’s really important to me that vrains doesn’t pretend it is.

anyways, though, i’m almost done with this episode i promise lmao. before the episode ends, we get this:

and i think it’s honestly kind of cruel that akira says this, after everything, and still maintains his point of handling it himself. he has heard, first hand now, how horrible the incident has scarred yusaku for life. and yet, he still is stubborn in refusing to relate or at the very least empathize.

what i mean by that, since we obviously see him attempt to last episode, is he refuses to look at it from someone’s else’s perspective or in a way that might make him uncomfortable. the way my boyfriend describes these kinds of people is that they “haven’t had their bubble popped”.

everyone has a bubble when they’re born, and that bubble shields you from realizing that the world is a cruel and hard place. even if you go through hardships, sometimes your bubble stays put, and you think that is the worst of what can happen. 

i’m explaining this very poorly, because i’m running on not much sleep and i’ve been typing about this episode for like, far, far too long, but essentially, he refuses to step out of his comfort zone and recognize, in playmaker’s case, that he doesn’t have a right to interfere and that playmaker’s desire to handle it himself is justified and helpful for his healing. and in aoi’s case, that just because he does a lot of good for her doesn’t automatically mean ignoring her for work and keeping her locked in their house is an okay trade off. and also that she’s not a child anymore -- she’s nearly an adult and she deserves to be treated as one. 

those thoughts seem to unsettle him. you can kind of see it in how detached he is after hearing all that come from playmaker. blue angel is visibly shaken up by what he’s said. akira doesn’t even flinch, because he’s not really listening right now. 

i’m glad he learns to, or at least learns how to start, later on.

anyways, i think that’s enough for this post lmao. this took forever to type up, so let’s hope i actually have time to cover up to 21 here today LOL. if you read all that, thank you for your time on my kind of dumb vrains thoughts :’)

Could I request a broad summary of the Summer 2014 Drama CD, the “Bring Me to a Fractured Dimension” section?

This one is pure crack XD

So it starts with Ivar asking Rideaux to take him to fractured dimensions (it seems all the tasks Rideaux gives him are cleaning stuff and distributing tissues), but Rideaux’s like nope, and Ivar tries to charm him “Don’t say that, boss! Lord Rideaux! Kyaa~ Rideaux’s the coolest!” (IVAR PLS) but sadly for him it doesn’t work. Rideaux torments him a bit and taunts him to beg Jude to take him along with Ludger.

So Ivar plots to get Ludger to take him along (bc no way he’s gonna beg Jude lol) while he’s distributing the tissues, but he runs into Jude and the others, who ask him to come help them buy groceries. But then Ludger has to go to a fractured dimension, and Gaius suggests Ivar goes along since he seems interested (and volunteers to do tissue distribution in his place XD).

So Ivar’s in the party along with Jude, Leia, Muzét and Alvin. Except he got sick from the trip to the FD, so they talk a bit about the feeling of entering fractured dimensions and about transportation sickness (Ivar’s totally fine on wyverns, but not on trains – Alvin remarks it should be the other way round). Anyway Ivar is super excited and immediately demands to go to Spirius to check if he’s still Rideaux’s henchman in this dimension (forget about looking for catalysts, this is totes more important lol). Since he runs off at the speed of light, the party has no choice but to follow him.

When he arrives at Spirius HQ, there’s a bunch of girls who gather around him to offer him stuff (Ivar fangirls XD). Suddenly fractured Ivar appears from the sky. Prime Ivar manages to fool the girls by claiming he’s come here to meet his long-lost twin brother. Fractured Ivar is super friendly toward Jude and calls Leia “Miss Leia” (in English) and totes believe the story about his long-lost brother and is all happy and calls him “kyoudai” (”sibling/brother”).

F. Ivar invites them to the CEO office – yep, you heard that right. He’s the Spirius CEO in this dimension. (P. Ivar is all pumped up cuz if he can become CEO in a fractured dimension, there’s no way he can’t do that in the prime! No more getting bossed around by Rideaux! yay!) Anyway it’s quite likely the catalyst is in the Spirius building considering the difference, so they agree to follow him.

So, F. Ivar’s backstory goes: in this dimension, Milla-sama accomplished her duty and left this world. So he became the head of DODA to hear about how Milla-sama was doing in other dimensions. He’s got a whole notebook of notes about various fractured Milla-sama, which he hides in a jar that suddenly gives off catalyst vibes. So they ask him about the jar. It’s his treasure, a super-rare good luck item. He found it in Duval, and it cost 20,000,000 gald (”I’ve heard that sum somewhere…” –Ludger). Paying back the loan was hard, but thanks to that he learned the joy of working hard every day, and by the time he paid it back he’d become CEO of the company. Now CEO of Spirius, F. Ivar decided not to look for waymarkers, but instead find a way to safely come back from fractured dimensions without destroying them. But such a method doesn’t exist. So he limited the DODA’s scope because he doesn’t want dimensions where Milla-sama lives to be destroyed.

After he explains that, Julius comes in to remind him of a meeting. He sees Ludger (and mistakes him for F. Ludger ofc) and F. Ivar explains how they found his long-lost brother. Julius is just like “…” though, and the party realize he’s probably figured out who they really were. But Julius leaves for a bit.

There isn’t much time left before his meeting, so as a thanks for finding his brother, F. Ivar rewards Ludger with a promotion (in this dimension he basically had the same job as P. Ivar), Leia with an exclusive interview, Jude and Alvin with coupons for the Spirius coffee shop, and P. Ivar with… the super-lucky jar! Because he wants good things to happen to him (d’aww).

Ludger’s a bit reluctant to have to destroy it because wouldn’t it bring them misfortune to destroy such a lucky item. Julius appears and confirms he totes figured them out and he guesses the jar is the catalyst. Ludger apologizes (for having come to destroy his world), but Julius says it’s all right, plus he’d had a feeling this world was fractured when a guy without chromatus ability became CEO of Spirius. Julius just asks them to wait an hour to destroy it bc his Ludger promised to make him tomato sauce pasta, and he tells P. Ludger to be well (;_;)

So one hour later, they’re ready to destroy the thing. When they come back to the prime, Ivar gets sick again, Gaius has finished distributing tissues (and found the experience interesting), they explain what happened to the rest of the party, and Ivar sets off to find a similar jar. Also I’m pretty sure there’s an Ace Attorney joke here but I’d have to check.

When Ivar declares he’s gonna look for the jar, Leia remarks that it must not exist in the prime dimension, but Rowen says “Well I don’t know about a “kuran” jar, but I know of a “kuren” one. It’s in the Sharil manor.” Ivar immediately sets off for Sharilton, while Rowen explains to the rest of the party that it was Cline’s [”kurein” in Japanese] first pottery creation, but that it broke and when it was reassembled the letters of his name got messed up (so it read “kuren” instead of “kurein”).

Now in Ace Attorney, there’s an incident in Kurain village where a sacred urn was broken and the name written on it got messed up when the pieces were put back together.

It’s all just Riss being Riss. Nothing’s changed. She got caught, called out on Tumblr, and ran away to Twitter and private Discord groups, and now she’s here trying to take her kingdom of hate back by taking out Lechepop - an artist who was formerly her friend and ally, but has now become her enemy because of Riss’s petty jealousy. YELLOW BELT: LIFE HAPPENS & YOU JUST GOTTA GO WITH IT

allllright this is my most recent belt so I have more memories, even though I also don’t bc my personal life got practice mixed up and sht. essentially i went through a lot of personal disappointments, got in a stupid fight with a person at the dojang, and got a medical issue which took me out for 2 weeks #fun. so training was messy but i still tried my best.

Things that happened:

Side kick. Side kick. Fucking side kick and turning side. i still dont have it perfectly down if im honest. i forget to turn my head in time, or my leg goes sideways, or i lose balance… a whole Mess.

도산 (dosan) my friends…. first form with kicks!! i liked that it wasn’t all like straight lines and all. but that horse ridding stance at the end lmao i struggled at first. also mixing up the punches order ect.

this was also the one where my school has a lot of one steps (single moves you do to show your technique against an opponent). this time there were 5 instead of the usual 3 which was ok except not cause i messed up sides lmao. also crescent kicks??? really??????? why?????

this was also when i was supposed to start sparring but due to my surgeries it was difficult to do properly (which makes me sad). i hadn’t spared since i was a kid so I Sucked lmaooo and still do. but it’s a lot of fun. it’s weird that i can’t grab or punch really (i miss that aspect of kick boxing). i got my ass kicked (literally) by a blue stripe she was awesome. but i have no stamina nor strength sdfhkdsjkjsdhfkjh. but it is still a ton of fun and i wanna do it often from now

a weird lower back pain also appeared at that point; i always kinda had it but the huge stress i got at that time + now that i practiced consistently 5 times/week made it more obvious. it’s getting better with stretches but i think i might have to get it checked out bc it can get painful when i kick from my left leg

i liked learning about double kicks/combinations a lot.

i had a ‘fight’ with someone from my dojang (more i was pissed at her for a while and it exploded lol). more in the next section

Advice/what helped:

this has taught me that social interactions are just fksdjfjksjhds lmaooo. i love the crew so much and i don’t wanna break it, esp since i dont really have another social circle. but goood feelings make things so complicated (not necessarily romantic ones). im still trying to decide what kind of relationship is best with dojang peeps bc im between wanting to love them with all my heart and keeping my distances so sht like this doesnt happen again.

other things have Occurred in this area and i will probs have to make a separate post for it.

the belt test:

i was feeling #awful that day lol. someone in the dojang had said something through text that kinda hurt even though he probs didnt mean it like that. i was pissed bc of work stuff and my stomach was hurting and yeahhhhh i messed up one of my one steps in front of the GrandMaster and didnt do my form v well hahhahhahahhahhahahhaha. i got distracted for one second and messed up. i felt v sick afterward. i still got the belt but idk if i deserved it.

main lesson: sometimes you just gotta try hard but also just try your best given the circumstances. sometimes things are less than perfect and sometimes that has to do. your feelings will get hurt and youll fix it but you have to make sure tkd remains what it is: a sport you wanna pursue. dont let anyone ruin that for you.

How are you doing?

this got super fucking long so i’m putting it under a read more

i’m pretty good! i’m just sooooo ready to start rehearsals (but also really really really nervous) so that happens next week. i’ve decided to use one of my absences from group so that i can go to the whole first rehearsal bc that may be when they’re assigning the chorus lines and i would love to be there so i can get as many lines as i can.

i’m probably going to alumni group this weekend and then seeing wicked with bri and i’m so so so excited.

i booked my flight home for labor day weekend and i’m already excited for that even though it’s so far away lol.

i don’t think i’m gonna be able to go to nyc with my mom to see dear evan hansen bc of the vacation schedule at W - basically we can take four week-long vacations per year and a vacation is the only way you can miss house meeting (unless like you’re sick or there’s a one-time thing happening that you have to go to) and since rehearsals will be on tuesdays in august, i’m taking two weeks of vacation right before the performances which means i won’t have any vacations for going to nyc so i’m sad about that but i also feel glad that i have something (besides treatment) that is a priority and that i’m excited about.

tuesday’s session with brandon was hard but i’m really glad i texted him my thoughts (and he texted me back). i was proud of that and also how hard i worked on grounding skills that day (can’t remember the last time i did ice diving! actually it was probs at mnlh).

kellie yesterday was good. weight is stable. she’s a little concerned that my weight has literally stayed in a one-pound range (so like not even a range lol) every week since the weight loss in iop and she’s like “ginny you should be having fluctuations. the fact that you have stayed within a pound makes me think you’re being pretty rigid about your intake” and i was like yeah… so we talked about some ways in which i need to practice flexibility (including the possibility of needing two separate snacks in between mealtimes if i’m hungry or the schedule is weird). i’m also supposed to work on spending less time at the grocery store comparing labels and such. the chocolate croissant goal stayed the same bc i didn’t do it last week BUT i did do it yesterday after our session and it was really fucking hard and i felt so shitty and guilty (and tbh i didn’t even like it that much) so i’m glad that’s done. my other goals are to try toast and butter (i mentioned that butter really scares me), decrease calorie counting including not looking up the info for new foods, eat out at a restaurant with bri before the show (and maybe order dessert), and to keep track of hunger/fullness.

today i had liz and that was good. we talked about a lot of stuff, including the dinner/dessert possibility before wicked and my fears and anxieties around that. i also talked about how, when i’m at the grocery store and i’m passing the bakery section, i think “i wish i could try that muffin” or cookie or whatever but they’re all in four- or six-packs and the idea of that kind of food just sitting around at the house makes me really nervous. i told her that, even though B/P’ing was not a part of this last relapse, i am always terrified that i will go back to overeating, that that part of me is still in there, just waiting to come out. so i try to have mostly healthy food at W (except for ice cream lol i always have ice cream) so i’m not tempted to overeat. and liz looked at me and said “do you have a razor?” i smiled and said “yes”. she said “are there knives and scissors there that aren’t locked up?” and i said “yes”. she said “ok, so was there a time in your life where you would not have been able to stand having razors and scissors and knives just lying around for you to use whenever you want?” and i was like “uh yeah, at 3East and most other programs” and she was like “right! you had to beg staff to let you use a razor and they stood outside the door while you shaved, right? but now you have these sharps out and i’m guessing that cutting doesn’t cross your mind every time you see them, right?” and i was like “yeah, you’re right”. she said “ok. the muffins are razor blades.” so i liked that point bc it’s so true that i have desensitized myself to having sharp things around. so i went to the grocery store again (twice in two days oops) and i bought a six-pack of muffins on a whim and sent liz a picture of it, saying “fuck”. she responded “You. Are. A. Rock. Star.” i said i was scared, and she responded “well, maybe you start by having them around. you don’t have to eat one (or part of one) today. save them in the freezer if you need to.” so it’s really about exposure right now - that i can have a pack of muffins on the counter without overeating just at the sight of them.

i made cookies tonight (another challenge!) bc i wanted to bring some to the firehouse that is close by W. it’s a smaller house and i’ve been wanting to stop by with something to say thank you (partly from watching chicago fire and seeing that people drop off cookies and stuff, hopefully in real life too not just the show lol, and also partly bc my nanny’s husband is a firefighter so i spent some time in their firehouse and even did a ride-along when i was 18 and i loved being in the firehouse). so i awkwardly walked in (the big garage doors were open) and this guy waved at me so i came in and was like “hi um i live down the street and i made some chocolate chip cookies but i wasn’t sure how many people were here…” and he said “there’s 17 of us” and i was like “oh shit… i brought 12…” and he was like “i’m just kidding. there’s 3 of us.” haha. they seemed really grateful and two of them were like “oh did you just move in?” and i was like “no… i’ve been here about a year” [whoops i’m an asshole and haven’t come until now lol]. but anyways, i like doing small good deeds like that bc it makes me feel better about myself.

ok so basically i've been putting off writing bc i've been making youtube videos (#spon lol subscribe) but i couldn’t just abandon it i had to keep going there’s still more to tell. who saw the events of this chapter coming? *pretends to act shocked* but yeah i’ve been pouring my creative energy elsewhere so i’m sorry but i still want to write, i’m sorry. tbh not my best chapter and kinda shortish

summary: Dan is so sick of everybody treating Phil Lester like some untouchable prince at school. Phil wears the same flower crowns and pastels Dan was heavily bullied for, but gets no grief. Dan would give anything to have Phil’s life, something that, in his eyes, is just perfect. Phil, the distant daydreamer, walks around, paying little attention to anybody but himself. He’s the person that Dan just loves to hate. That is, until Phil finds him after getting beaten up and takes him back to his place to get him cleaned up. Maybe Dan learns that there’s more to this Phil Lester kid than what meets the eye, and maybe all the distant boy’s daydreaming is just a distraction from the horrors of every day life.

Chapter 5:

I brought him to the library, a place that was technically closed at lunch, but the door never quite locked. We slipped into the biography section and just sat down next to the shelves, Phil leaning on my and breathing steadily. He’s so close that I can hear his heart thumping. The rhythm is soothing, and, for a while, we just lay there.

“Do you want to talk about it?” I murmured into his ear. He shook his head, and I combed my fingers through his hair. He sighed contently and just layed there. It was nice and quiet, I respected his boundaries and all, but I had to know if he was in immediate danger.

“Is - is someone coming after you?” I didn’t want to bring up the subject, as he clearly didn’t want to talk about it, but I needed to figure out how to help him, because cuddles and kind words don’t do much good in a fist fight.

“They say that nobody is,” he was quiet as he said it, placing emphasis on the they. I breathed out the breath I didn’t know I was holding. I was pretty sure nobody was going to come beat us up, which was a pro. Maybe Phil was just paranoid.

“It’s okay to be scared sometimes, you know,” I kept my voice low and soft, “I know what it’s like to be scared.” Phil turned to look at me, and I could see the tears brimming in his brilliant eyes. I pulled him closer as he started to shake again. I told him that it was okay, that he was safe, but I wasn’t sure he really believed me. I rubbed little circles into his back, whispering into his ear, as he seemingly fell apart again.

“Maybe it’d be better if we lay down?” I suggested, and Phil nodded again. I gently nudged him over, and he curled up on the library floor. I layed down next to him, wrapping my arms around him and pulling him close, curled around him, making sure he knew that I was there for him. His breathing was still shallow, but he wasn’t crying quite as much, and I took that as an achievement. For a moment, at least, I’d made Phil Lester feel better.

Laying so close to me, I could smell his cotton candy shower gel that I’d used so much of just a day before. God, had it only been a day ago? So much had changed. His hair had been soft and neatly parted, but was now matted and a bit messy, but not necessarily in a bad way. His previously ghostly pale face was pink and tear stricken, but he was still beautiful. He was a beautiful mess.

Phil shifted around to be facing me, and I could barely breathe. He looked so peaceful. His blue eyes were barely open. His mouth was slightly open, shallow breaths escaping him. He was so gorgeous. Oh god. Phil Lester was so beautiful.

His eyelids fluttered closed, and I could tell that he’d fallen asleep by the regularity of his breathing. I saw the clock and saw that we had a full half hour until lunch ended. I supposed a little nap wouldn’t hurt. I closed my eyes and slowly faded in and out of consciousness.

I flinched as I heard a notification from what I presumed to be Phil’s phone. I must’ve slept through the whole lunch. My eyes shot open and I felt Phil move next to me. I relaxed a little. He’d somehow gotten closer to me during the time we’d spent sleeping, my arms loosely around his waist.

“Hey,” his voice was breathy and deep. I couldn’t help but giggle, he sounded so different.

“How’d you sleep?” my voice felt awkward and squeaky and I immediately felt as if I’d said something wrong. He chuckled a little.

“Surprisingly well for being on a library floor,” his basically had bedhead and I was living for it. The corners of his eyes crinkled up as he smiled at me, and I rolled my eyes a bit. How could one person be so adorable?

“I’m glad you enjoyed your time,” I joked and pushed a strand of hair off of his face, earning me a squinty-eyed smile, “are you going to get that?” He reached into his pocket and turned his phone on, then gasped.

“Oh my god,” he groaned and double took.

“What’s wrong,” I tried not to laugh at the expression on his face, “bad news from your girlfriend?”

“Hardy-har-har, very funny,” Phil was clearly different than he’d been a moment ago, more anxious.

“What is it, then?” I knew it was nothing, but the change in Phil’s body language worried me a bit.

“Do you have any idea how long we were asleep for?” I’d assumed the bell would have woken us up, as it was obnoxiously loud and I’d thought I was a light sleeper. I would have guessed 10 minutes to our next class.

“It’s 5:30,” my jaw literally dropped. How had we slept for 5 hours? I’d missed my classes. My mum probably hadn’t noticed my absence. Had anybody else?

“We better get going then,” I sat up slowly and Phil did the same. I was still so tired. I stood up first and helped him up, walking a little too close to him to the door after swinging my backpack over my shoulder. Our hands brushed up against each other slightly and, while we didn’t pull away, neither of us made a move to grab the other’s. The silly sleepy haze we were in before was gone. We weren’t attached at the hip, head-on-shoulder comforting. We were just friends. That’s all.

“You’ve got to be kidding me,” Phil exclaimed as the door handle wouldn’t turn. My eyes widened. He couldn’t be serious.

“It’s actually locked? Are you serious? It’s never locked,” I couldn't believe it.

“What are we going to do?” Phil was clearly worried, eyes darting around the room. His shoulders were tense, fingers fiddling with the doorknob over and over again, but I could tell that it wasn’t going to open.

“I guess we’re going to have a sleepover,” as I said it, I cringed inside. It sounded so childish. Phil’s eyes widened. I could tell it was going to be a long night.

so w things happening as of late.. like w kuraine leaving and all.. its been strangely quiet w out her always nagging about something. but i was thinking on aaron a bit bc he was super pissed and i felt bad for that baby boy. sheryl would go out of her way to make him feel better too.. and that led me further down this rabbit hole.. and i got to thinking.. lucy is born in the beginning of august, so sheryl is pregnant all through the summer months. and we all know how little this child wears, but when that tummy starts growing, she starts wearing shirts that cover it. so she still wearing them tiny shorts, and tank tops since that still gives her some freedom. she cant wear her boots after a bit bc theyre too clunky and her feet prob swell like most pregnant ladies. so aaron has to get her new shoes. and she’ll prob need new shorts too since everything is growing. 

but sheryl wanting to go out when aaron does come home. so he takes her to go for walks or something, since she cant get out like she used to. they go baby shopping. sheryl looking at all the baby stuff and not sure what to get. she wants to be surprised w what she has, but to be prepared, she wants to know. so she calls the dr one day when aaron isnt home to find out shes having a girl and gets excited and makes aaron come get her... unless he absolutely cant, then cory can come over hahah sheryl can drag him through stores grabbing cute girl things. 

sheryl looking at cribs tho.. but doesnt want to get on bc the baby doesnt even have a room. she’ll have to share w her and aaron. sheryl having mood swings too.. omg.. a sheryl that cries easily omg what.. aaron just sighs one day on the couch, and sheryls cuddling and just starts crying. hes unsure what happened, and shes ‘ur so nice, i didnt mean to get pregnant we can sell the baby’ and he can stop her there bc omg these mood swings. he even remotely sounds like hes upset and she just cries more so he just awkwardly puts an arm around her and sheryl leans closer into him and it gets quiet cause she fell asleep hahah

sheryl making him feel her tummy for the first time, just grabbing his hand and forcing it against her tummy. aaron feeling his baby kick for the first time. hell prob leave and such bc wow too real.. theres a child rly in there this is rly happening. 

al the times sheryl will need to go to the dr for her health. scared out of her mind bc she was on so many things and now shes having a baby and she was still on stuff when she found out she was pregnant. shell worry if that will mess w the baby and then theres her withdrawls from everything... getting rly super sick in her first trimester that theres a few days they think it best to just remove the fetus and sheryl refuses. she can still tell her baby is ok and alive, just bc shes sick doesnt mean her baby is. sure enough they both pull through and sheryl has to take it easy and be on a certain diet so her and the baby get the things they need. then this all leads to sheryl having to be pretty much on bedrest her third trimester cause its taking a toll on her but shes refusing to give up on this baby. she doesnt expect aaron to stick around so she tries to get everything she needs so she doesnt have to get up. 

one day she wakes up w bad cramps but doesnt think anything of it, until they start getting worse as time goes on. when it hurts bad enough to make her eyes tear up, she calls aaron, worried somethings wrong. if aaron can come hell take her, if not cory shows up and helps her to the car. turns out its early labor and sheryl starts panicking bc where is aaron, he cant miss this.. she needs him. 

cory calls aaron, lets him know, aaron can hear sheryls colorful vocabulary in the background and debates going or not. when he does show up, theyve got sheryl drugged up a bit for the pain, and just waiting to see if she can do natural labor like she wants. when sheryl sees aaron, she just smiles and rubs her belly. ‘my magic eight ball says we’re lucky today’ aaron plopping in the chair close by and sheryl watches him, aaron avoiding her gaze. then the contractions worsen, sheryl whines, something happens, its not right. sheryl starts panicking and aaron gets the dr for her. they have to perform an emergency c section and sheryl waits for aaron to show up. its a bit before he does show up, in all those scrubs ur supposed to wear pfft. all that hair tucked into one can u imagine hahaha ..anyways, sheryl worries through the whole thing until they lift the crying newborn up to where she can see and sheryl just relaxes, her baby is ok. they fix sheryl up, get her back to her room, and soon bring her the baby. shes excited to hold her baby, but looking at aaron, she motions for the nurse to hand the child to him. aaron tries to back away, but sheryl makes sure hes cornered. thats when she sees aaron hold his daughter for the first time and just. all the feels man.
