Even I, who had put so much work into directing it, had forgotten about it by now, yet you all are still loving and watching/enjoying Beyond Evil. I'm very grateful, sorry, and ashamed [for not remembering it as you all have]. When I was directing Beyond Evil I was worried about the public's reaction to it, so I was anxious every single moment leading up to its release, but thanks to all of you who have shown such great love for the drama I was able to become "overrated" and establish myself firmly in the field as a director, so I'm eternally grateful. Thanks to you all, I'm able to put food on the table!! (bowing!) I'm envious of those of you who have managed to still live in the town of Manyang, it seems like you're all truly enjoying the drama and are fully immersed in it! I was lucky to meet such a great script and such wonderful fans, so I'm living each day diligently. Thank you! I heard that some of the actors were also going to attend [the anniversary event]. I really wanted to go, and I'm sorry that I couldn't come to meet you. But I'm celebrating the 4th anniversary in my heart. I am getting so sick of shift in culture where people are now using fanfiction related tags like a fucking Burger King ordering system instead of just writing their fic ideas themselves and building up their skills by writing bad self indulgent fics first in order to write better fics later?

Like I get so annoyed when I see people posting shit like "I desperately need a fic with (super specific song) about (character) 😭" or "why is it always smut? where are all the fluffy fics?"

Write it. Write it. WRITE IT!!!!!!

If there is a specific kind of fic you want to see, write it. Fanfiction won't just come to you on a magical cloud if you wish for it and hope really hard - unlike music from your favorite band and big budget Hollywood movies, fanfiction is one thing where you can literally do it yourself with any plot you want and any characters set in any universe.

'Oh but my writing sucks-' yes and every single talented writer that you love also started out sucking. Very badly. And some of them might still believe they suck because insecurities are a thing. But they are still brave enough to push through it and write the fics they imagine in their head and even post those fics for you to enjoy.

There is something to be said for requesting fics from your favourite writer or sharing ideas for people if you want other people to write them when you don't have the time to - but if you are someone who never tries to write and just sits around wishing for someone else to write fics catered to you, then you don't understand the point of fandom.

Write the fics you dream of. Do it now!!!

I had no idea about this group History, and that's awful the industry it's already bad and the company making it worse... I can't even imagine what they had to go through, but it's good to know they are doing better nowadays. In fact I'm still in disbelief at this inhumane treatment they received that's so revolting wtf

It must've been a hard time for you, it's good to know that you're doing good with it now and they were able to move on and live a happy life!!

But Luna since I really just got to know about history do you mind telling me more about 'em? and if you can I would love some music recommendation, also how did you got into them?

About Pentagon, I don't think I can consider myself an universe, but I'm def a casual listener and I like them a lot, such great artists!!! Pentagon is also very mistreated by cube they could be so much bigger!!! so many good producers in just one group, these companies stress me out, not to mention but, lately I've been completely obsessed with Navy blue by wooseok it's soooo good I keep putting on repeat lol, honestly cube is dumb how can they just waste those talents?!

I think I can understand what you mean when you say like this "i guess in a way they are both my ult" I imagine it must feel different... I guess when Svt disband I'll also feel like this, even though there's other groups I like, I don't think it'll be the same

Ahhh yes I will ofc talk about them! I don't really know what to say, since it's been so long since I got to ramble about them, but I'm sure I'll manage haha.

First off, I will say that if you're interested in BTS, History's maknae Yijeong is very close to BTS' Yoongi and was featured on his.. talkshow?? for the last episode. It's got some really great insight, such as Yijeong explaining that towards the end of working as a History member he had a neurological issue where he was terrified to sing and therefore he hates watching videos of himself from that time because it brings back a lot of bad memories. (Also, Yoongi said he wishes Yijeong would sing again, and.. same. He even said he'd pay for all the hospital fees LOL). Just had to mention it bcs it's one of the rare instances where we actually got to see a History member on screen again, and talking about History.

Anyway! I honestly, legitimately don't remember how I got into History. It wasn't their debut - maybe their first comeback? I wasn't a fan of their debut song Dreamer, though it's definitely grown on me over time. I think Tell Me Love was when I fell for them. I saw Yijeong in a skirt and them trying to make Kyungil look young and went. Yea. These stupid men. I like 'em LOL. (It also helped that I knew about Dokyun bcs of the brief stint where he was lead singer for the band Buzz, in place of Min Kyunghoon).

They don't have a huge discography so it's actually fairly easy to just recommend you all their title tracks.. and it also helps that their title tracks are fucking great.

What Am I To You has a great Latin vibe to the music that, in 2013, was not happening in other kpop songs, along with great choreo and great vocals.. what else do you need lol. Psycho had great choreography and brilliant story-telling in the MV. Might Just Die.. I am so fucking conflicted on. It's probably my least favorite title track of theirs, for various reasons (the injuries sustained while being taught to do the dangerous choreography, having to starve and dehydrate themselves, etc), but it's also their most well-known bcs… shirtless lol. LOST is STILL one of my favorite songs of theirs (I love grittier sounding stuff) and I think they really nailed the vibe of a "one-recording" MV without it looking cheap even tho it.. incredibly was (I recognize everything they're wearing as actual clothes they just own lol). And Queen.. man, what can I say about that song. It's got more views than their shirtless MV and I think was exactly what the industry was looking for at the time - unfortunately, it came too late for LOEN to see any need to continue funding them. I also included a clip of the horrible Show Champion stage for Queen that was covered in water, where Jaeho falls at the very end and breaks his wrist INTO the microphone. Feel free to skip but it's.. wild.

It's hard to recommend bsides of theirs bcs they just didn't have the chance to perform many of their earlier ones, or there's no good quality videos since they're all fan-taken haha.

I'm someone who really, really loves choreography, so I've got to mention their choreography video for What Am I To You, if only because seeing the way Jaeho's hat somehow manages to stay on while Kyungil loses his is kind of hilarious lol. Also obligatory mention of their choreography video for Might Just Die that they did fully blindfolded, until the jump. It's insane, especially since only one of them had a dance background or even LIKED to dance lol. I also really like Ghost's choreo, but I included it below lol.

Personal favorite bsides for me are Blind (it feels very old, but I love it), Blue Moon, Wake Up!, and Beautiful My Girl (the latter two of which are Japanese, so we have no official audios of them online anywhere and are stuck with only performances unless you have the cd.. rip. welcome to the bad video quality from 8+ years ago lol) as well as vocalist Yijeong's... rap song.. 1Century hehe which is a fuckin bop. People also really like Ghost (tho this isn't the full version, ft. Kyungil again losing his hat) and Wild Boy is an.. interesting song lol.

I think this is probably the most iconic version of Wild Boy, simply because Kyungil acknowledged he was severely hungover during it and they were all just vibing and having a good time lol. You'll notice they're very loose with their choreography - this was how they always were unless it was a title track, a choreography video, or a big, professional stage. It's definitely different from how idol groups feel nowadays, and most likely was a product of four out of the five members not being told ahead of time they'd need to dance to be in the group & none of them really cared about it, they just cared about having a good time lol. (Yijeong and Kyungil both jump off the stage in this performance and literally just go vibe in the crowd for a while lol, which was very in-line with how they approached performances). This is not the group to look at if you want clean lines in choreography all the time lol.. a big change from Seventeen, who I know you like.

A couple of them have gone on to have solo careers - Kyungil currently goes by 1il, but his stuff is so.. hit or miss sounding to people that I'm not sure it's worth recommending anything haha. I will say though that his MV for Love It is insane. I love it, pun intended. I have been waiting to see that man get choked by a woman for years and he finally gave it to me LOL. Jaeho is currently working under the name KIMNANO, and his stuff feels very vibey with R&B or ballad roots mixed in.

As for Pentagon, you're right about that - but Cube pretty much mistreats all their artists unless they're making them a substantial amount of money, which is why they're so focused on GIDLE and only GIDLE lol. If GIDLE hadn't blown up initially with their debut we absolutely would not be seeing as much funding for them.

And yeah, I think you pretty much hit the nail on the head - I can't quantify my love for History, or Pentagon, or Seventeen. They all mean different things to me and were there for me in different ways and at different times.

Yea, ofc! I don't think I've ever actually posted my AO3 anywhere, so it's no wonder you couldn't find it haha. Here you go - it's only got two[?] things on it that aren't on my blog though!

I got to rest, until yesterday when I had to go to the emergency room to start the first round of rabies shots [just to be safe] after a stray cat bit me. The actual shots were fine but the immunoglobulin… I have never in my life experienced that level of pain. It was so intense and visceral I literally vagaled out after it was half-done. So that wasn't fun! I won't get into the details in case anyone here can get icked out by stuff like that, but I've still gotta go back in 3, 7, and 14 days to get the rest of the shots. It'll be fine tho, they're just regular injections.. not the horrid 20-ish immunoglobulin injections (of which I literally only got half of before I passed out lol).

So that's what's been happening with me! We've got a ton of stray cats out where I live now [I think people are dropping them off here..] and bcs I have cats of my own and these strays are dangerous to my own cats, since I'm getting the rabies shot anyway I'm going to try to be capturing them to take them to a shelter since I'll be inoculated against it.

YES I AM VERY MUCH okay so it literally has become my favorite show, and I've even re-watched it a few times (and anyone who knows me knows that I cannot re-watch, re-read, re-play things easily). and it's so painful how literally no one i know is willing to give it a chance 😭 because it's so damn good

if you'll allow me to ramble for a second..

people always talk about the relationship between juwon and dongsik, and i get it, bcs that is!!! so fucking intricate and fascinating but there's a specific scene dongsik has with jaeyi that always sticks out to me as such a good scene for characterizing what type of person dongsik is. and it's rarely talked about!

LDS: Yoo Jaeyi, aren't you afraid of me? I had [the victim's] phone with me. I could have been the one who murdered her. YJY, shaking her head: You're just crazy. At one point you had too much sadness in your life to handle, so you started to do crazy shit [as a front]. Right?

YJY: I'll be okay - LDS: I'm not okay. I won't be okay with that! YJY: I'll be okay. I have you by my side.

these exchanges always clenches fist gets me by the throat!!! first of all i'm a sucker for non-romantic male/female relationships in korean shows bcs that like, never happens ever without there being romantic undertones. but also!! dongsik literally went to jaeyi to try to make sure she was safe and even while doing that he's also telling her "do not trust me, logically you have no reason to" and she's immediately hitting back with the "i know you, i know you better than the people who demonize you, and that includes how you demonize yourself. you're not what people think you are, not what you think you are, and i'm not letting you face this alone, even if it's dangerous for me. you've been alone long enough." and when she says 'right' she is not asking in a way where she is looking for an answer. she is saying it as a confirmation. she is right. she wants him to know that she knows.

and!! even then, even with dongsik trying to frame it as why he's not a good person, when jaeyi says she'll be fine he immediately is like "being fine is not good enough, i will not be okay if you are not okay. just because you survive doesn't mean you're okay". he just doesn't want anything bad to happen to the people he cares about despite all the horrible things he's gone through. he so easily could have become jaded or indifferent - and perhaps he is a bit jaded, but he could never be indifferent to the suffering of those he cares about. everything he's suffered and yet he's still, at every turn, trying to take on everyone else's pain for them so they can continue living a happy life instead. one of the most memorable lines he says is when he learns of juwon's plan towards the end, and he says "that fool - i'm not going to let him go alone!". he knows he can't stop juwon, knows he can't change the trajectory, but if he can take any of the burden by going down alongside him then he will. because despite everything, despite how he has truly been failed by every aspect of society that was supposed to protect him, he still just wants those he cares about to be okay. to not have to go through what he's gone through.

there's a line very early on from jihoon, when juwon is quizzing him about why dongsik is focused on acting like "both a mom and half a dad" to minjeong while the town ostracizes him, instead of focusing on himself, and jihoon says "because he's dongsik. because that's who dongsik is." and i think that really sums it up completely. because dongsik is used to being hated, being looked at with mistrust, being used by those around him. and because he is used to it he simply cannot abide by it happening to those he cares about, and he will do anything he can to take care of them, to make sure they're happy and safe.

is it healthy? no. that's part of what jaeyi is even telling him. but instead of growing bitter and angry - which he has, he is so angry at how he has been failed - he channels that instead into care. into love. into protection. he has so many reasons to be cruel and spiteful and hateful. but instead he makes the incredibly hard choice to love instead.

Hi omg - sorry for vanishing off the face of the earth, I hope that didn’t scare you away 😭 Likewise, I was busy with college - it was right before finals, and then it WAS finals, and I was out here trying to write a research proposal in a week while dealing with other tests lmao. I felt swamped. (And then I got on a new medication that destroyed me for a bit… anyway! I’m back now lol). I hope you’re managing to make it through as well! 🤍

As for ults, yes, of course I do! My ult group was originally a group called “History” - a group of men who were all much older than was normal for an idol group to be. For comparison here, they debuted a year before BTS but their youngest member was the same age as one of BTS’s older members. They got massively fucked over by their company (the company disbanded them while their leader was in the military, and didn’t tell him - he found out when he did an internet search of his group that they were disbanded). I think, genuinely and in retrospect, not disbanding them would have just been delaying the inevitable though. The staff was constantly breaking into their studios and destroying their work, I think some of the members were starting to have conflict with one another under the immense pressure the company was putting them through, they were constantly getting injured (one of them literally fell and broke their wrist into the microphone during a music show performance and he had to take himself to the hospital and pay for the treatment himself) or were being forced to starve/dehydrate themselves, and they were also constantly ridiculed (one member was told he was literally only good for his singing voice, one member would literally not get lines in entire songs that already didn’t have choreo, so he’d just stand their while the others sang, etc).

But, also, they were my ult group and they disbanded days before my graduation and it devastated me in ways only things like this can lol. It’s been.. god, seven years now? So I can look back on the time fondly without as much pain anymore. Plus, I genuinely think all the members are much happier now - one got married and has a one year old baby girl, one finally disappeared from social media after getting a girlfriend, one is a prolific producer for BigHit/HYBE, etc. I’m happy for them. Proud of who they’ve.. not grown into, since they were already grown, but proud that they’re finally doing things that being an idol kept them from.

Anyway! They were my ult group for.. a long time. But they’ve been disbanded for so long now, I don’t really know if I can consider them my ult anymore. Pentagon is definitely sitting in that position now, if it’s open - they’re a very different type of group when compared to History, more familial, more ride or die with one another.

Seventeen is similar to them - familial and will also always have a special place in my heart, even if I don’t talk about them as much anymore. They’re who I initially made this blog for, after all.

I guess, in a way, they’re both my ult groups now. I don't know, after History, it's hard to pick a group as my "ult" lol.

As for ult bias.. yep as well! Originally it was a History member, but I went through a rough patch and no longer feel as.. comfortable, with the idea of him anymore. Just to be clear, he did nothing wrong haha. It's all on me.

My current ult is an idol I'm a bit wary to mention, because they seem to be very divisive in places. So I'll just leave it at that!

Honorable mentions to Tei and Woozi! I don't think Tei counts as an idol, but he's a Korean singer I've always adored and loved to listen to. People who can sing ballads as well as rock masterfully own my heart haha. And Jihoon, I mean.. come on. I love him haha.
