But bc gatos fanbase is so niche the small amount of ppl assum she approves of everylittle thing or knows about every protect/merch ect She doesn't , it apperse to me shes often the last one to hear the news. If even(?)

Even WHEN a fangame is a perfect (like said fangane) because one person dose it , some ppl with bad intention will use this as an excuse to make a upsetting fangame and wont REALY get in trouble.

Hell even ppl with good intention could do the same and completely miss interpret the characters yk??

I personaly believe stuff like that , what happened before and even in other fandom is why gato has that particular rule about not wrighting her characters at length. Not wanting to take the risk of someone miss using her characters again! /lh

The fangame devs are very talented the game seems fine from what i hurd! They did take creative liberties but its still very much gatos characters, I think they where respectable with them even in the contex of said game! . But i find it weird that the post says fanart for their fan game is appreciate ( at least in the English post i found prompting it) fan art of a fan game is confusing and i see how some ppl might mix the two up! Know?? like what would even be the tags? 'Sorrysorrybtd?' :0 So i can see how that could be another reason for the rule!

Eg. AOYUER and headcanons within it are somewhat personal to me, and I know some are detached from canon so if people aren't interested or straight up dislike it, that's fine! Fandom is a varied experience. However, I've had people come into my askbox or onto posts before saying they don't like specific ideas or disagree with them. And then its like. What's the point of that? You've just made me feel shitty directly. I can understand why people would feel the same if they saw a less direct complaint in a tag or on their dash and it would probably benefit us all to hate a little less and love a little more but it also benefits people to accept that different people have different opinions on stuff and that's what makes fandom the varied and interesting experience it is..

I'm not well-versed in nuances of "face" culture. Things that are "unforgiveable" in China, Korea are different from each other and from the rest of the world.

Lucas' fans investigated and showed that the initial accusations were fabricated. Found who did it even. However, for the fandom at large it is irrelevant. A big mess happened. Lucas was accussed of multiple things, during the development of the scandal antis added more and more elaborated "crimes" to his name. He fell from graces. He was blacklisted, his name was written down into the same list as a real criminal (ex-Exo member). He damaged his group, he betrayed the trust of his fans.

All idols ask forgiveness for dissapointing their fans, whether they did something wrong or not. You don't make excuses, you take the blame. Sometimes, in simple cases, when a source of accusations is public (a private journalist on YT) or easy to pinpoint (existing socmed account, not anonymous), companies clear up things. It is rare though. There are no good laws that protect from stalking or defamation.

You take the blame, say you were a fool, you will reflect and do better from now on. You basically fall on you knees and beg for forgiveness.

In the movie there were allusions to Lucas being very young/inexperienced, overworked, and away from the family. Basically, that he did and said stupid things because he didn't know better, but now he is a changed man, life gave him a lesson, he grew up.

Lucas said he misses the times with WayV, but for a long time it was hard to face the members because he failed them. They hang out now though.

Lucas and mainland China are over. At least for foreseeable future. In the movie he talked in Korean and Cantonese only, so it was clear who he addressed.

Chris Lee is not liked, his association with Lucas will be used against the latter.

However, the movie shows Lucas' manager who met him at the airport when little Wong arrived to Seoul, and was with him throught Lucas' mental breakdown. Took him for a haircut and to the gym, helped to face the world again. He is the witness, fans should watch him and take in his opinion of the idol. A manager is not an actor, Lucas gave him a lot of troubles, the man wouldn't be able to hide animosity to the artist even if he tried. Instead, we can see a very supporting hyung, who likes the idol he takes care of.

The problems with fans is that they believe words and not their own eyes. They can't judge character, so they follow someone's opinions. You, anon, were able to make a profile just by looking how Lucas interacted with NCT members, how he behaved during programmes. Others don't try or quickly change their opinion not able to defend it against the pressure of the masses.

There's no harm at all, with only knowing certain bits and pieces of it. The problem is that people get way too defensive, if anyone dares to point out their ignorance.

Social media rotted our brains, to make it seem like we only have a single shot at doing things, and there is no room for mistakes. When... That's nonsensical in every single aspect of it. Because we aren't in the context of work. Fandom is a hobby, RP should be a hobby by proxy as well. Maybe that's why it feels like the RPC at large is bound to the latest trending topics, and it no longer feels like people are allowed to take their time, at all.

I don't claim I know SW in its entirety, never did and never will. I only know Pokemon and Castlevania, through their mainline games. I'm currently only familiar with Saint Seiya's classic anime series.

I feel like canon purists are annoying as fuck, no matter the context of it. Nobody likes someone who's unironically having meltdowns because you:

a) Don't know what they are referring or talking about. They proceed to act all snobbish and get an inflated ego, bc of it; b) Didn't enjoy bits and pieces of the source material, so you choose to ignore it for your fanwork/RP. Or even worse, you happened to prefer a version of the source material they don't like; c) Touch grass, whereas they haven't seen a single ray of sunshine in years.

Ironically, most so-called canon purists are the guiltiest people, when it comes to distorting the source material. Because they are so attached to what they convinced themselves they saw. They refuse to accept they could possibly be: misremembering things or missed out on something else that could change the interpretation of the facts.

RP should be all about a creative and a collaborative effort between authors, to go all out with an already established universe and characters. That's what RPing a canon character, boils down to. It's no wonder people tend to mistake it, for fanfic writing. Even though, it is very different. Because you're signing up for that person's version/take, on a material you both are well acquaintanced with. AND NOT NECESSARILY, word for word what you have already seen, or whatever the other person's expectations may have been.

However, my appreciation for it doesn't exactly translate it to RP. I'm DEFINETELY not someone who's all too eager about crossover RPs, in general. To begin with: I feel like there are certain franchises that just would NEVER mesh well together, at all. Most of the time it's due to the drastic shift in tone between them (miss me with that Star wars & pokemon crossover. I also have 0 interest in doing any form of crossovers with my other fandoms like Castlevania and Saint Seiya). Furthermore, when translating a Canon character to an entirely different fandom, they lose SO many key elements to them just to try make it fit in with the new universe (some things are just impossible to fit in, outside of that universe's specific context). You may as well just make an OC out of it, and use them as a FC for that purpose. Which IMO this works a lot better, than trying to insist in crossovers. That will also save ppl from the FC's main fandom, assume they are there to do proper canon interaction, when a blog's main focus may be on their crossover AU.

I've done this several times now (e.g.: prior to this blog I had a Dialga and an Arceus muses that were short-lived, they started off a crossover AUs for my Yu-gi-oh muses that later became their own thing [they had priest Seto and Atem as FCs]. Matsuba's FC, Virgo Shaka from Saint Seiya, is a proper active muse I have in my other side-blog). I feel like it is also a lot fairer to people's dashes, who would be following me for 1 specific fandom's content and not for the actual series the character is actually from.

I feel like another factor that HEAVILY prevents me from doing crossovers, it is the fact that I personally like knowing at least, one or two things about the other source material from my partner's muse. Even if they say how prior knowledge isn't needed to interact. That's entirely a me thing.

It's not all a loss though. I'm just not looking to do them anytime soon.

i actually listened to (most of, never caught up w the last few episodes) homestuck made this world and i found it very insightful in terms of fandom history and finding out what was going on on the mspa forums and the something awful forums at the time the comic was updating, but other than that i found the hosts’ opinions to be pretty infuriating a lot of the time.

i mean don’t get me wrong, there was a lot of insightful commentary and things they said that made me appreciate and enjoy the comic more, (lots of cool comparisons to other pieces of literature that i found incredibly fascinating and genuinely expanded my view of the comic for the better!) but sometimes i would have to take a break from listening because i got so mad at how ridiculous some of the things they said were.

rant about it under the cut lol (btw not trying to argue with u or anything, just wanna say this as kind of a warning for ppl who might take ur suggestion. i’m not saying you Shouldn’t listen to it lol)

for example one of them thought that liv tyler (the robot bunny) being the “secret thing in jade’s birthday package to john” was “the most idiotic narrative decision in homestuck” and every time it showed up thereafter, he’d go on a little angry rant about how much he hates it. which is ridiculous to me, because that is so easy to predict. all of the birthday packages thus far had contained bunnies. why would this be any different? it is WILD how MAD he gets about this silly little robot bunny.

and just in general i found them to be kind of snobbish academic types. sort of an attitude of “well in my training they tell you to tell stories this way, and homestuck does it wrong” and it is like man who cares. it’s an unconventional story why should it follow conventional storytelling rules? they also don’t seem to care as much about some of the female characters. vriska and terezis dynamic barely got any discussion, when it is literally “the axis around which homestuck revolves��� (hussies words, paraphrased) they are very much cis men with cis men views and it gets tiring to listen to sometimes because there is just sooooo much they aren’t taking into account because they have such limited perspectives.

there was also no tumblr perspective, which, imo, was a HUGE and very important part of the homestuck fandom. maybe i’m biased since that’s where i experienced the homestuck fandom. but like. the entirety of the dancestors are based off tumblr, and because those guys were never on tumblr they didn’t really have that firsthand perspective of what the characters were actually parodying/satirizing, and thus their commentary on it was very narrow. just in general there is a HUGE chunk of fandom history missing by virtue of them not covering tumblr homestuck fandom very much.

ALSO???? one of the hosts HATES cosplay and cosplayers so much in a way that genuinely like. concerns me. i remember his words being “i don’t like it when people dress up and pretend to be something they’re not” or something VERY along those lines. literally had to pause and go UHHHHHH HELLO DO YOU HEAR WHAT YOURE SAYING RIGHT NOW DUDE???? jesus christ. (at the very least he SEEMED to maybe recognize it as something he needs to work on internally. still sucks to hear as a cosplayer lmao)

the main host who read the comic as it was updating, michael, says he “used to be anti-fandom and never participated in fandom but now has an appreciation for what fandom can be (from the perspective of an outsider)” and the other host who was reading it for the first time, cameron, seems to find fandom as a whole distasteful and cringe. like oh god you can tell how cringe he thinks it is the whole time and it is really fucking grating how little whimsy this guy can tolerate. he’s always like “i’m not saying i hate it and i’m not trying to stop anyone from having fun” n shit like that but that sentiment only goes so far for me when you can just tell how off-put he is by the concept of fandom and fanart and cosplay and fanfic as a whole. as someone who participates in all of that, who has made literally all of my current irl friends through the homestuck fandom, i found his commentary on the matter incredibly annoying and i often had to step away and remind myself he does not know what he’s talking about and that i shouldn’t take his opinions to heart. it was rough to get through sometimes.

(like, i try not to take it personally or whatever, but it’s just REALLY hard hearing people be ignorant as fuck about something you know a lot about and not being able to do anything about it. you just have to keep sitting there and listening. or turn it off, but then you miss out on some of the actual good stuff)

in a way, it’s a lot like hussies book commentary lmao! there’s a lot of good insightful stuff in there, but you have to trudge through a lot of bullshit. you have to remember that while they seem smart with their phd’s and their knowledge on literature and storytelling, their perspectives are still incredibly limited in a lot of ways.

i know ive basically said this already lol but a lot of ppl have been like "oh man i should reread homestuck with the commentary!" and i do want to warn yall it is an extremely mixed bag of genuine insightful stuff and good writing advice and then just like. terrible writing advice, and weird off-kilter bad-taste jokes. i've just been posting the stuff i think is good and interesting or particularly funny, but it's not all top tier commentary lmao

if ur doing a reread with book commentary get ready to be annoyed. and put on ur critical thinking helmet lol because you have to parse through so much of hussies bullshit. u have to ask urself CONSTANTLY "are they serious, or are they being satirical right now?" and i genuinely do not know the answer for some of the shit they say.

~Arcane!Viktor’s vaguely-queer-moments~ with commentary about how it might just be straight after all to keep myself in check.  Alright, so I might miss something, feel free to add (although this is more for myself tbh, sort of a journal entry). Personally, I didn’t notice like half of this when I was watching for the first time and didn’t really think much about the possibility, however the second time I was quite surprised to notice that there was... eh, quite a bit.  Also, this isn’t meant to cover anything from LoL lore, but it’s nice to remember that as a character he was originally a soviet-coded robotic mad scientist. Idk it’s not a very gay archetype by itself but it IS rather sensual.  Anyway!  1) Saying 'it’s Viktor’ and then continuing to soulfully gaze into Jayce’s eyes for another couple of seconds as his theme swells (’It’s Viktor’, fittingly). 

might just be fanservice for league players who remember old champs, gasp, oh it IS viktor, the machine herald, plus letting the theme’s violin notes hit just right, plus this is the finishing scene before the story gets back to vi... kinda awkward tho??   2) ‘Wait a minute, this isn’t my bedroom’ as the excuse he came up with when Mel came across him and Jayce breaking into Heimerdinger’s lab, clear implication (although Jayce talks at the same time so it might be harder to hear for some viewers).  ...might be a generic excuse for trying to open the wrong door and also too subtle, flew right over most ppl’s heads, however this is probably the most overt viktor line in the show 3) Right after that he throws a sour look at Jayce who’s busy mooning over Mel. 

uhh concern that his new partner would be more interested in a gorgeous corrupt politician rather than in scientific progress? doubtful:) however also subtle, didn’t notice this on 1st watch 4) Doesn’t return Sky’s interest, in fact the first time we see them together he kept on looking at Jayce (who was about to give a speech yeah but also had his back turned to Viktor atm). 

well, this could be for a variety of non-queer reasons... more like an additional detail and in later scenes when he’s busy with hexcore he’s practically ignoring jayce almost the same way he does her, so im not putting it here  5) Viktor bleeding onto Hexcore and passing out while Mel&Jayce have sex (with Viktor’s theme worked into Romance track), in this case i actually prefer a metaphor for the rich and powerful of the world finding both cooperation and pleasure together while the less privileged inevitably suffer and have to turn to less ethical means to survive, but well... The fact that Jayce is having sex with his political partner while his scientific partner is dying is still a bit? Suggestive? These readings aren’t mutually exclusive.  6) “Singed: If you take this path, they will despise you. Love and legacy are the sacrifices we make for progress. It’s why I parted ways with Heimerdinger. Viktor: Jayce will understand.”  idk this seems like a logical answer after the mention of singed’s previous lab partner but still, love.. more a weird choice of words on singed’s part tbh, could be just a generic type of love in a ~friendly colleagues~ way lol 7) no visible nipples under a really high support brace 

might be just stylistic design choices ig, low pectoral muscles.. due to muscle atrophy maybe?   So, like, all of this can be viewed in a different light, I guess? And most overt hints are in Act I.  This is naturally a familiar path for anyone who has experience with fandom and reading into things, impossible to say for sure whether it’s all in our heads or not... Earlier I’d say that it doesn’t even matter! We do have one rly cool queer couple in the show and also perhaps this ambiguity suits that particular storyline, AND more importantly Viktor’s sexuality or gender wouldn’t really add that much to the themes of the show, in my opinion. It’s just really nice for fanart and fic ideas, various additional materials and rediscovering the homoeroticism of cold war metaphors in League lore.  But after that whole thing on Amanda Overton’s twitter (one of the writers for Arcane) with first an implication that any queer-seeming moments are just the results of ‘no stigma against affection between men, friends or family’ followed by a bewildering ‘I’ve faced what felt like identity erasure myself many times. I’ve not given a real-world label to any one of our characters because I sincerely believe it will be more satisfying to learn this as their story unfolds.’ Which um. Reads as ‘wait and see’, essentially, also backed up by a different artist (Evan, although he isn’t working on s2) on the show seemingly for this particular issue (’I super do need people to stop asking us about things that aren't explicitly shown in s1. I get that people want assurances, but it'd be such a massive disservice to spoil any of the moments being cooked up’).  And after that I’ve began to feel a familiar frustration...  Like, this isn’t that big of a question in the story? Like I said, Viktor’s sexuality or gender isn’t super relevant to his character since he already has lots of other narrative-defining traits (risk-taking scientist focused on improvement of life quality & leaving a legacy, comes from zaun, disabled, close to dying), plus if Amanda is to be believed there’s no stigma towards sexuality or gender expression in Runeterra so it wouldn’t be seen as an alienating trait, just a sort of sad one if he had an unexplored (and potentially unrequited) crush on Jayce. Which again, isn’t really needed to drive home the idea that their relationship is slowly falling apart because of a divide in ideologies and personal circumstances. Or rather, it just wouldn’t be a good twist for s2, but it would have been a potentially cool detail to add or imply in s1.  My point is that if the queercoding was intentional why not say so? And if it’s not what’s the big deal in saying ‘nope! it wasn’t intentional! however we can see how it could be viewed that way, best of wishes to the fandom, you’ll get your riot mlm and or trans rep someday, xxx’.  Or, yknow, ignoring the question. Instead homophobic and/or sexist fans took the first part of the answer as an opportunity to gloat that the idea of a queer Viktor is entirely delusional while us losers received familiar bait of ‘maybe it’ll happen in s2!! be on the lookout for bi Jayce trying to seduce robo-Viktor (Even-Bigger-Dick-Now) who fell out of love with Jayce because of hexcore or an undercity flood or whatever’. Argh idk, I’d easily expect such an answer from a riot marketing team! As a football fan ( who's also a queer woman btw ) it's quite sad on how Louis isn't tweeting about the World Cup, some people here with LITTLE knowledge of what FIFA does and made a literal discourse on why Louis shouldn't tweet about the WC like it's one of the biggest problem in the world. Hey, anon! I agree with a lot of what you said there and I very much respect your opinion. I think there are a lot of issues concerning the world cup this year (I mean... there always is, but this year specifically the human rights discussion is very relevant). There are 1000% a lot of xenophobic takes and I absolutely understand where you're coming from because I've seen some shit that left me baffled, it's unbelievable.

I'm not into football myself but since I come from a country where football is such a massive cultural identity, I really tried to educate myself (and I'm still trying, so if anyone wants to talk about it my DMs are always open) about all the shit that was going down in Qatar. I think a lot of things are just heartbreaking and should be dealt with empathy and sensitivity. For me, it has been important to be vocal about it and to support the things I personally believe as a human being. So if I were Louis, I'd probably choose to comment on that, maybe very vaguely, but I don't think he's indifferent to any of it and I do think he has a lot of opinions about it. And it's just his cup of tea, so that would be a good opportunity. But since he didn't say anything we obviously think differently and I mean- that's fine, I'm sure he has his reasons, I still think he's a good guy. But again, that's what I would do. Puh...well...yeah I don't want to answer, but I do. I have talked about that many times in the past, you can also look that up if you want to.

In short:

There was a gaming stream back in September 2019 - translations turned up much later in November 2019 - where Shoma said: "he hates girls his age as he sees them to hard to impress boys" This is literally the gist of it all. Is that sentence ok? No. Can it be seen as offensive? Yes. Is he a mysogynist because of it? No.

The gaming stream was more than 4 hours long and he was asked about dating and girls via the stream ask box.

Also let's not forget that this gaming channel, while it sounds like his voice, was never officially tied to his name. So there is no proof it was him at all.

Some backgrounds story:

September 2019 was a time when Shoma was without a coach. He was without any doubt depressed. Nothing in his skating worked. As we know from official interviews he was close to quit skating but also didn't know what else to do.

Now some background story to when it has been brought to attention to English Twitter:

It's been known for two months already. IdF 2019 was a complete disaster for Shoma as he only placed 8th in a GP where he usually would medal. There was a huge wave of support for him on any social media platform even ppl who weren't his fans showed worry about his state of skating. Suddenly that bomb dropped. Co-incidence?

The translation of this sentence vary a lot. Some insist he said "hate" some other translators say it's "dislike". If not even Japanese speaking ppl are sure of what was meant? How can we be?

The Japanese speaking fandom never gave that whole thing much attention. There must be a thing we miss in the conversation. Maybe it's a cultural difference.

Here is my opinion:

Imo the Twitter translations blew it up. It was one sentence! I mean do ppl even know how a real mysogynists talk? It's trivializing real problems. Also never said something in a heated moment you didn't mean?

He surely shouldn't have said that and I see why ppl can be disappointed in that sentence. All feelings are valid. If you don't want to support Shoma any longer I can understand that. What I don't understand is the vitriol and hatred. Name calling is not ok. No one knows Shoma in person, so how can anyone claim to know how he is? I for one am on the side of forgiveness. I still support Shoma!

For all we know that is true about Shoma is, that he is close to Satoko and Marin (if dating or not), he dressed as a girl in The Ice shows with a lot of effort (he even let the girls make his make- up), he is polite and humble towards any female fan or fans in general (I can tell from my own experience - he even kneeled on the floor to sign autographs when surrounded by a group of female fans!), there has never been any bad word about him from any skater in the world, Marin was introduced in his YouTube channel, he made countless compliments about the other female skaters (like how they are better at steps, how admirable the quads of the Tutberidze girls are, the one he had in mind doing his guts pose at Worlds 2017 was Satoko who was injured at the time). Ask yourself if this is the behavior of a mysogynist?

Also if any of you need multiple translations with context, you can dm me. I have collected that at the time back then. And like I said in other posts before it matters who translated it as it reads differently from everyone especially if you're a native speaker or not. I’m not clairvoyant and don’t claim to know what goes on behind closed doors.  I have said time and time again that we have no way of knowing what goes on when the cameras are off or when they are in private, unless they tell us.

I do speculate sometimes and make assumptions based on the content I’ve seen, but always original content, and not edited clips.  

I have also made it clear every single time that these are my opinions and conclusions, take them or leave them.

There is a ton of BTS content out there to go through, which includes, just as an example (because there is so much more):  Run BTS episodes, interviews (video, written and radio), member Tweets, memories, Bon Voyage, packages (summer, winter), Bangtan bombs, fan meets, Musters, concerts etc.

You need to watch original content, because, and it saddens me to say this, there is some Jikook YT content that is distorted, edited, slow motioned to fit the story, and not all of it is ‘real’ in the sense, that if you see the original content, see the true moment within it’s context and in real speed, well, it isn’t a ‘real’ moment.  I have called out some of those moments in the past.

But there are things you can’t fake.  

There a several moments that solidified for me the special connection between JK & JM.  

Watch original content over the years and you will see there is something special between those two, a special and strong connection.  JK clearly finds JM as someone he can confide in and someone that can calm him or console him in times of need.  He has said it in interviews and we have seen him do so in the content out there.

JM is JK’s anchor.  His safe place.

JK is JM’s happy place.  When JM is down JK is the one who knows how to cheer him up.  Even Jin had mentioned it once in an interview.

JK is JM’s protector in sorts.  We’ve seen them at the airports, we’ve seen him carry JM after concerts.

They are super close.  We know they constantly choose to travel together in the same car (when every member has their own car and they are the only ones together)...  They choose spend ‘off time’ together - bowling, going to watch a movie, ice skating with each other.  JK himself told us in BV4 that the only members he sae during their time off were JM & Hobi.  They are just super close.

So what made me make the one step further and conclude they are romantically involved?

There are several things that pushed me over the edge.  Some of them are:

First, the content, again.  There is content out there that is way beyond “we are very close platonic friends”.  Things they say or do in front of the camera that give you so much “we are a couple” vibe. 

There is content that makes you feel like you are intruding on a very intimate private moment: 

MAMA 2018 is one of them.  I can’t say one, because there are so many moments there that are “WOW, what’s going on here?”

Rose Bowl is also such a moment that is as clear as day, with no acceptable logical explanation other than: “there is something more between those two”.  

Those are only 2 examples, but there are many more such moments, where the intimacy level is way more than even the best platonic friendship out there.

You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to put 1 & 1 together here.  These moments are loud and clear.

There are the more subtle moments too, those that add up on you, those that if you will look at each of them by themselves you would say: “yeah, nothing here”, but when you put them together, another one and another one and another one, well the conclusion is pretty much clear.

It’s JM’s Tweets, their matching clothing over the years, their choice to spend time together, their private trip, GCFT, JK’s choice to put JM front and center in all his other GCF’s, the way they look at each other, the way they talk about each other, the two very famous lives from 2016 (Tae’s & Hobi’s), their own lives (OMG), things JM tells us (like waking up and seeing JK is what makes him happy these days), “you are me I am you”,  the way they touch, especially during the first few years (2016-2018), those hesitant light touches & brushes (if skinship is not an issue here, why do they hesitate so much to touch each other??? when they have no problem doing so with the others, all when we do know just how close they are), the way they talk to each other, they way JK lets JM get away with shit, while he doesn’t the other members, the way JK drops honorifics with JM +++++ so much more.

There another couple of independent points that helped to push me over the edge too.  

The first is the other members reactions when JK & JM go on with their shenanigans.  RM, Hobi, Jin, Suga & Tae all react differently, each and every one of them has a tell.  Suga and Tae go blank many times.  Jin lowers his head.  Hobi either had a worried look on his face or a big fat smile, and RM, well he’s the most obvious out of the lot.  It’s facial expressions, uneasy movement, fisting his thighs, looking to Hobi or Suga with pleading eyes, running to the two thinking he might have to defuse a moment, separating the two when he feels it’s needed.  It’s all that and then some.  Now if there is nothing ‘more’ going on between those two, why is all of that even necessary???  Those two’s interactions on camera just make the rest of the group nervous, especially RM.  Ask yourself the question: why??  

Another thing I keep asking myself is, if these two are clearly super close, why is there a constant need to downplay their closeness?  This is something that is done by BTS and BH as well as the fandom.  And I find it hard to understand, again, if there is nothing extra going on between them, why downplay them.  You may disagree with me on this, but to me it seems they are way closer than JM & Tae, but they are called ‘soulmates’ while JK & JM are ‘nothing’? It’s like they are there, and it’s clear as day just how close they are, but it’s not a subject they are allowed to talk about.  And the way the fandom is as much as ignoring it also raises so many questions for me.  If this is an innocent platonic close friendship, why ignore it?  How come the fandom isn’t celebrating it? 

Thing is, that not only does the fandom ignore their connection, they are being hated for it.  The level of anti and hatred  out there towards them is unbelievable.  And yet again, that raises the question of why?  If nothing is going on there why such anti towards those two, together, in particular?

At the end of the day, I guess life experience is probably what helps me out here.  I have been around for a while, experienced love and heartbreak, and also a long term relationship. I know the signs, you could say.  It helps being able to assess a situation and read into it.  

It’s ok to question yourself.  I do so constantly.  I watch and re-watch content.  I read interviews, I question my logic, my conclusions.  I, just like any normal person, do have self doubt at times.  Believe me, I would not have written what I have before checking and re-checking myself.  And still, these are my conclusions.  I believe that JK & JM are not only super close, but also romantically involved.  There you have it.

anyhoo, I have a story. I once saw a tiktok about a kaeya art. it was specifically labeled “IN PROGRESS” or whatever so you knew the artist wasn’t done. it was a gorgeous piece of art btw. So far, the only thing that had been colored was his hair and some of his clothes.

pretty much everyone in the comments started harrasing her about how he was whitewashed and the artist had to be a white supremacist and i think someone said “see I knew everyone who played genshin was racist just delete the game at this point.”

i was just like 😳 wow jeez it’s literally IN PROGRESS the artist legit said so.

the artist eventually posted the final version (after having to delete the first video and deal with several threats) it did turn out beautiful, but on the comments there and on every post of theirs after people are lurkign in the comments bad-mouthing them.

as much as I definitely am for characters not being whitewashed (especially Kaeya bc I love him your honor) I think some people take it way too far when the person they’re yelling at literally just wanted to get people excited about their WIP.

if there's one thing i noticed about the genshin community on tiktok and twitter, it's that there is a whole, whole lot of social justice warriors and overall it's extremely toxic. it's something that surprised me because the people i interact with on tumblr are all super sweet and not one bit toxic so? idk, tumblr is just a different breed i guess

your story is extremely saddening. everytime there's a kaeya fanart, people forget about the color theory and the artists' style and claim it's whitewashed and i genuinely don't understand why. if someone could explain it to me, am i missing something? im not an artist so perhaps im mistaken, idk, but i've never seen a fanart where kaeya was whitewashed.

the thing that pisses me off the most is that most of the time it's white ppl calling something whitewashed. i'm not saying you shouldn't call out racism if you see it just bc you're white, just that these people aren't even right - and often you see poc coming into the debate and explaining it's not whitewashed/saying it doesn't bother them. moreover, i've literally seen fanart of beidou as a black girl, which isn't representation in my opinion - beidou is already a poc, and asian people need at least as much representation as black people, so it's plain racism. same thing with kaeya, i've seen edits of him with stereotypical african features, and it's really sad that no one is calling this out but yelling about whitewashing as soon as he isn't the exact same color as the official arts. hell, someone even said "so what if it's darker? it's still whitewashing" and i??? am flabbergasted. whitewashing is absolutely disgusting, but ppl keep misunderstanding what it means and just using it to gratuitously harass artists.

but anyway, the fact remains that sjw have plagued the genshin fandom. and it's not just about kaeya's skin color (we don't even know if he's really a poc - we know he's tan according to paimon, and i believe she called him "exotic"? so idk) but also about the ships. everytime i see a shippy tiktok, there's plenty of ppl out here saying it's wrong, claiming their own ship is the most canon. if i'm not mistaken, kaeluc is the one that gets the most hate, and i genuinely, once again, don't understand why.

i talked about them before and explained how it's not incest bc they really aren't brothers, but i swear every now and then i see people throwing death threats and slurs anytime someone hints at them. idk if you are familiar with the eng va's fandom, but sometimes they play among us together, aether's va does some livestreams where he invites different voice actors. but diluc's va is never there, and i was wondering why - recently i learned that it's because he retweet a fanart of kaeya and diluc fighting alongside each other (not even a shippy fanart, apparently) and people harassed him and excluded him from the fandom. and now the same thing is happening to griffin burns, childe's va, bc he retweeted (or liked, idk) a fanart of lumine and childe fighting or something and people called it pedophilia bc lumine would be a minor. i'm not even gonna dive into this bc the travelers are canonically like 30 times childe's age, but what i mean is - people are so full of hate and i can't fathom living like this?

the point is, i totally respect anyone who doesn't ship something i ship. i myself don't like certain ships - like zhongli/xiao, jean/diluc - but im not gonna harass ppl who do just because i can? that's messed up, i just don't get it. i wish the fandom wasn't that bad bc i really enjoy this game

TL;DR: My kneejerk reaction was to be saddened, and I don’t like that this is starting up, and will continue to fuel, fandom drama. Ultimately, if we want peace, we’ll embrace the fact that the existence of this adaptation doesn’t take away from the existence of the books, and it also doesn't mean we have to acknowledge it.

It makes me wonder whether AMC wants us to make a storm about this. We’ll see...

After all, what makes this adaptation any more important than the graphic novels of the ’90s, the graphic novel Claudia’s Story, movie!IWTV, or movie!QOTD? In fact, many fans here on tumblr consider VC to be a trilogy only!!! and don’t accept the majority of the PUBLISHED CANON so what makes anyone think we have any obligation to swallow this AMC adaptation as some kind of gospel?

I see movie!QOTD as a buffet of ideas carried in an official fanfiction work, and I don’t accept as my headcanon the various things it changed about the books that I didn’t particularly like, such as merging Magnus and Marius (which, IMO, effectively made both characters more morally reprehensible). I accepted the things I did enjoy, like casting a Black/POC actress to play Akasha. I see this AMC adaptation as a buffet of ideas, some can be taken, and some not, it’s just another official fanfiction work.

Deadline.com informs us that in the AMC adaptation for Interview with the Vampire, Jacob Anderson has been cast as Louis. I'm not familiar with him, but it looks like he’s a successful actor, from Game of Thrones and other things, he’s also joining Series 13 of Doctor Who. I’ll have to check him out from an acting standpoint!

Aside from his talent as an actor, this is by far the most controversial thing that's happened in VC fandom recently. I've been thinking about this for a few months now, talking about it privately online and offline, still gathering my thoughts. So this post is not engraved in stone, it’s initial thoughts on this.

I’m glad to see ppl talking about it and I’m sure we’ll have more public discussions. I’m trying to discuss it very carefully, but also, this is an entertainment blog, my opinions are mine alone, and I’m not looking for dogpiling on anyone, I have no obligation to respond publicly or privately to anything. Plenty of other ppl have differing opinions on this. So take all of the following with more than a grain of salt, I’m not being salty, I’m providing the links to the little info we’ve seen pulicly, I’m giving my initial thoughts, and I’m also trying to add a little levity because ultimately, again, this is an entertainment blog, and I try to add a little humor to help with such serious topics, humor can help ppl talk about controversial things.

The casting of a POC/Black actor (I’m sorry I don't know the preferred terminology, let me know if you know what Anderson prefers) confirms at least one part of theilluminerdi articles that stated that Louis’ race will be different from the books. I didn’t post about these before bc I wasn’t sure how reliable theilluminerdi’s sources are (and I'm still not sure), but this was one major aspect that theilluminerdi announced before Deadline did, so now seems to be the right time to share those articles. I’m using that meme with a little levity here, clearly an AMC adaptation of vampires in which the producers/writers have chosen to change the race of a main character (arguably the original protagonist of the series) isn’t in the same VICINITY as the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park that broke out of containment and killed visitors to the park, but John Hammond’s intention for the creation of that park was very good, as I assume this race change was intended. Time will tell.

Race is a more complicated subject than ever, so for AMC to make this bold change, I hope they have POC and Black writers on staff and are handling this very carefully. Even then, no racial group, including POC and Black people, are a hivemind, disagreements are bound to happen in the writing room, whether in good faith or bad. People have different intentions and motives, compromises will probably be made with the story in many ways, we all know how it goes with collaborations; the end product is a shared vision among multiple creators. This could be a potentially controversial adaptation, I don’t know whether they’re aiming for that or not, but with the elements it has so far, it seems to be headed that way.

Here's a comment by "Angellus" on the 5/21 article. It's undeniable that there's going to be the accusation of racism thrown at anyone who has any negative view of this change, regardless of their reasons. I find it unfair and narrow-minded that any negative response is automatically assumed to be coming from a racist point of view. To say that changing Louis' race is unequivocally an improvement fails to take into account how that change has a Domino effect on all of the other parts of the story. Not the least of which is that, if he is still a slaver/slave holder/plantation owner/(insert your preferred term) that adds a whole new racist element to his owning Black/POC people, even though, apparently there were Black/POC plantation owners. 

Not the least of which: How will this change impact his relationship with Lestat? Particularly when Lestat has the added issue of being described in those articles as having “mind control abilities” and “insistent that he gets what he wants and when facing rejection,” a terrible combination in terms of consent, even in a relationship of the same race, let alone invoking Caucasian/white dominance over Black/POC people, AND Lestat being the catalyst to Louis’ questioning his sexuality:

Lestat is insistent that he gets what he wants and when facing rejection, petulance can quickly turn to ruthless rage which causes frenzied acts of horrifically brutal violence. Lestat also has mind control abilities. Lestat initially infuriates Louis, but this soon turns to fascination which leads Louis to question his religion and sexuality.

It makes me question whether Angellus truly believes what they wrote, if this is an ideology, or a troll. I would suggest their use of the term “pervert” is correct though, pervert means: “alter (something) from its original course, meaning, or state to a distortion or corruption of what was first intended.” That’s what this race change does, factually. Although, in this context, “distortion or corruption” carries a negative connotation. It would take a lot to show how this change does not meet the definition or “to pervert,” though.

I agree 1,000%, I was hoping that these were just rumors. But, aside from the race change, if this were the only change, I find Louis being a brothel owner to be equivalently morally reprehensible to being a slaver/slave holder/plantation owner/(insert your preferred term). Ideally, they’d change his career to something that doesn’t involve benefiting from the bodies/labor of others in any morally reprehensible manner.

I mean, with a black Louis they can't have him being a slaver anymore, so maybe they're trying to find something that is also morally reprehensible for him to be.

He might still be a slaver. Who knows. Being morally reprehensible as a mortal man didn’t seem to me to be crucial to the story, but they still could have chosen something better. It seems to me like they want a brothel so they can have eye candy for an audience who want to see sex workers, maybe full frontal nudity.

What also gets my attention is that Anne and Christopher Rice have not yet posted publicly about it, which leads me to believe that this change wasn’t their choice. They take every chance to brag when they’re proud of something, every chance to crowdsource about casting ideas or which VC books Anne’s fans liked best, etc., and in this case, as of Aug. 31, 2021, (and to be fair, maybe I missed it), I haven’t seen either of them post about this on the official VC FB, Anne Rice’s FB, Annerice.com, Christopher Rice’s FB, or christopherricebooks.com. If it had been their choice, I think they would have gladly trumpeted their credit by now, but maybe they’re waiting to do it in a specific venue. Time will tell.

Saw some ppl on twt having an interesting thought/theory the other day. That different from other pairings within the group, Jikook is one of the (if not the only one) pairings who have not had been shown having deep/insightful conversations in official content, what we see is mostly them being playful and flirty with each other instead, and that maybe that’s why a lot of people in the fandom don’t take what they say about/to each other seriously, and/or always try to downplay when compared to other pairings (i.e when Jimin said he was with JK on his birthday last year, or that he likes to wake up and see JK). Thoughts on that? Ngl, it got me thinking if maybe it’s one of the reasons why whenever jikook are jikooking it’s almost radio silence among armys who usually would get super loud when it’s JM or JK with other members 🤔.

If two people are flirty with eachother that is reason enough to take them seriously- especially in Kpop where people use the cover of homoerotic fanservices to live out their gay fantasies.

At the very least, when they flirt with eachother- however way you wanna take it, fanservice or not- they are assuaging their own homosexual tendencies and desires. If they didn't have them they wouldn't be flirting- unprovoked.

When Jimin says he likes to wake up to see JK's face, yes that's him flirting with Jungkook in broad day HD- it's gay, it's nonplatonic and borderline outing.

It doesn't get deeper than Jimin telling jungook he drinks to self soothe because he feels lonely sometimes.

Or Jungkook saying Jimin told him he wanted to be with him (the team) for a very long time.

You hear Jimin say very often, 'I was telling Jungkook the other day....' 'I was with Jungkook when X happened to me' etc.

Their ability to be vulnerable with eachother in ways they are not with other members, to understand eachother's feelings without so many words, to experience a lot of highs and lows together and connect on that deeper level weighs more than anyone's opinion of them.

May be they should pay attention to the things they say about eachother- the conversations they reference and the nature of those conversations. I'm sorry but a picture perfect two seconds screen time of a contrived conversation between two members does not equate to or determine the depth of their relationship. Especially if such said members leave that depth on set never to pick it up or engage in it off camera- yea we see them. We know just about who goes out to nurture their relationship beyond the directors cut.

Jikook nurtures their bond- as do certain other pairs in the group.

When JK is crying and he wants to cry in Jimin's arms that says more about their intimacy and the depth of that intimacy than any words can.

When Jungkook says he feels more connected to Jimin on stage after a performance when he holds his gaze that says depth than any words can.

I told Jimin he needs to calm down a little, that he can't sing like this or that. Jungkook helped me a lot with my lines. This says they are not too proud to learn from eachother. That's insight.

Whatever their Taxi fight was about, whatever conversation they'd had- that is emotional vulnerability. That is depth and that is insightful.

Jimin confides a lot of his fears and insecurities in Jk as JK does in him. Jimin would not know Jungkook sucked at emotional vulnerability or expressing his emotions if they hadn't branched into that genre of conversation.

They do have deeper moments- not necessarily conversations and they do have insightful conversations as well-

Besides, half the time Jimin is talking with certain other members he is constantly talking about Jungkook anyway so...

And Jk barely says two words beyond nodding, biting his lips or blanking out...

If Jikook lack depth the other ships involving them is worse🤣

Jimin and RM are intellectually compatible. They've both said a lot of their conversations are of an intellectual nature. Personaly, I think Jimin makes RM emotionally honest too but whatever. Jimin did say his ideal partner is a mixture of RM and Jungkook. Rm because he stimulates his mind and challenges him, Jungkook because he makes him horny. Perhaps 😏

Vmin are like two emo lesbians. They just do too much emotional rawness and sentimentality in their conversations, sometimes I'm like spare us please😭- its always: Taehyung-ah, Jimin-ah... cue corny Bollywood romance song.

All the ships are unique. They all have different dynamics. Depth in one ship may not look exactly the same as the depth of another ship.

Perhaps, they should learn what deep and insight looks like in a real relationship. What depth and insight looks like in Jikook's dynamic. You put them in a room to talk and they are not gonna pour out their hearts or talk about dance and the things they are passionate about- they're gonna flirt because they find eachother attractive. They're gonna touch, giggle and if they have to say something I think it's gonna be I love you.

We learn a lot from the things people say about Jikook but we see for ourselves what Jimin and Jungkook are about because most times they show us and not just tell us.

People don't take Jikook seriously because they don't want to take them seriously. Anything else they say is just an excuse to marginalize them and invalidate them especially if they take others much more seriously.

Or it's just because they aren't abreast with same sex relationships- which I don't think is a mystery at all. Love is love.

Swap any pair in BTS with heterosexual couples and I don't think people will make Jikook, out of all the other ships, to be the fanservice ship of BTS. If anything the term couple would be befitting of them the most.

And yet somehow because they are men people would rather describe what they have as brothers and for those who admit it's couple-y they wanna dismiss it as a joke or fanservice.

You swap certain ships and you realize people are shipping their own delusions.

As a queer woman, I look at all the ships and wonder how in heavens people can assume certain ships are remotely real.

I find it bizarre.

I really don't care about people's opinions. They are entitled to it. I know what chemistry is, what attraction is, what love is and I see all of that and more in Jikook's dynamic.

No one can bamboozle or bulldoze me into rethinking or redefining what those things are and what they mean.

Sis forget the Jikook antis. Don't waste energy trying to understand them. Let's focus on our ship and put energy into supporting them the best way we can.
