“Hello there,” the kid drawls, eyes dragging up and down Lewis’s body slowly. They linger on Lewis’s shoulders and the way his underarmour shirt stops an inch above his waistband. Michael had let him off for the night shift, and Lewis had taken the chance to get in some hand-to-hand training, sweat cooling in the warm evening air. “How are you on this fine day?”

Lewis raises his eyebrows. “Aren’t you, like, seventeen?”

He splutters, cheeks growing pink. One hand comes up to tug at an ear, robes slipping down his wrist. They are porridge coloured and misshapen, way too big for him. He has a fighter build, clear even under them. “I’m twenty!”

Huh. Lewis would not have guessed he’s only four years younger than him. “And a padawan?” He gestures at the truly terrible nerftail that he has got going on, the distinctive padawan braid pulled back in a hair-tie.

“So?” He is grinning now, clumsily. “There is no age limit on how long someone can be a padawan, and, I’ll have you know, I am a fantastic Jedi.”

“Padawan,” Lewis adds, helpfully.

The Jedi-padawan narrows his eyes, still smiling. Lewis wishes for his helmet as he bites at the inside of his cheek. The delight on his face is infectious.

“Jedi-padawan,” he says, finally.

“Modest too,” Lewis says, and he laughs, high and echoing.

“Eh, well, we all have our flaws, yes?” He waves a hand in the air, loose and grand. Lewis looks forward to seeing him as a diplomat in a few years. Maybe it will finally make the biannual meetings that Michael has with the Senate and the Jedi interesting.

“Some do,” Lewis replies, mimicking Valtteri’s deadpan, and is rewarded in another wide smile.

“I can back it up, you know?” He walks a little closer, hips swaying. Lewis swallows back a laugh. Absolutely no shame. “My lack of modesty.”

He claps his hands. “Let me tell you about the Force,” he says, smile going heated and lazy. “We, Jedi, can do amazing things with it.”

“Uhuh, sure.” Lewis turns to walk away, raising a hand over his shoulder. “Goodbye, Jedi-padawan.”

“It’s Jedi-padawan Sebastian Vettel, actually,” he calls after him, but doesn’t follow. Lewis lets himself grin now that he is facing away.

ok i came up w reasons for why i am currently the way i am

thinking abt the previous post, the agency i worked at for a couple years would use bits of ABA and I just... I always nodded along to the boss instructing me on how to work with the kids with those tactics (I worked with the kids who were 6 and under) and then as soon as she left I tossed all that shit out of my brain and just treated the kid like a human being and worked with them where they were at.

and guess what !!! i had the most and fastest success out of every other worker in the entire building!! i was often told it seemed like i was working miracles with my kids bc they'd just progress so fast (comparatively) through the skill book we had to work on, and that the kids always seemed so happy and eager to come to the building after they started working with me!!

this is partially why I quit because I couldn't stand seeing my coworkers treat the kids like they were dogs (talking down to them, being patronizing, and utilizing shitty ABA tactics) and as much good as I was doing there, it was fucking me up bc they were extremely demanding that I work more than I was comfortable (or able) to, and often put me with "problem" kids who I didn't get to regularly see so we couldn't make much progress bc the kids weren't able to get to know me and (rightfully!) didn't trust me because they thought I'd be treating them the way everyone else did.

i just...... my coworkers would ask me how I had so much success and I would just shrug and say like, "just treat them like they're human and work with them where they're at" and I couldn't explain any more bc that'd require me admitting I wasn't following the boss' guidance for a lot of shit fjfkdl

was remembering every time i’ve had meaningful physical contact with another person and wondering why i was going crazy over it and it’s literally because i saw my family for a week and a half and there was so much hugging (not 8 hugs a day i still dont know how that’s possible. but like. regular hugs and family catch ups so that too) and now i’ve touched another human being once in the week and a bit since i’ve been back………………………….. maybe i’ll shake someone’s hand tmrw and that’ll be twice .

similar to seeing lex luthor at the hairdressers, seeing bruce wayne out of gotham was a bit jarring. the little bell over the gymnastics' gym rang pleasantly, a soft little chime that just helped the general ebb and flow of business, and while it was a bit early for pick up, dick knew some parents liked to arrive early and watch for a bit. luckily, kate was instructing today and dick was just working on some more clerical things until later, passing time by running over the books at the front desk and he gives a pleasant 'welcome!' to the new addition, and goes back to his work like any other day. only to promptly do a double take. BRUCE WAYNE. in BLUDHAVEN . civvie clothes on and greasy bag in hand like he was just casually bringing his eldest lunch and dick realizes with surprising slowness that's actually probably exactly what's happening. " dad? " he says, a bit startled. he knows from the lack of background noise people were probably watching the encounter but dick was still kicking his brain back into working mode. bruce, without his cowl, unannounced, in the daytime and in bludhaven. shit, what went wrong? " dad! " he corrected, standing a bit belatedly to fully welcome him in. his suit was stashed in the backroom and it was likely empty by now so he could probably slip out with minimal to no complaints. he'd have to call carol to cover for him for the afternoon shift, but that shouldn't be a problem with how much the kids loved her. dick nodded them back to his office, words trailing behind him, keeping the pleasantries up he takes a spare second to tease b until they were alone " finally get the bludhaven bug? NOOOO ☹️ to be fair I’ve been incredibly ia bc of just irl stuff and not wanting to get dragged down by a lot of the negativity that was going around when I’d gotten super busy—now I just do not have time nor bandwidth to be caring abt intra-fandom discourse—but I’ll always be around!! I’m just back to school and I have a full-time internship and also I uhhhh downloaded and got addicted to valorant last month 😭😭
