TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES #142-144
AUGUST - OCTOBER 2023
By Sophie Campbell, Kevin Eastman, Gavin Smith, Ronda Pattison, and Shawn Lee.
The Turtles have a final showdown against Barlow and then follow their own paths.
SCORE: 7
While reading these issues I felt that something was missing. I don't like falling for "borrowed" opinions, but I do feel like there are just too many characters in this book and not enough development.
This isn't just a Sophie Campbell problem, I feel like Tom Waltz also struggles with the size of this universe. So what I feel needs to happen, is something that can give all the characters their own space in this world, with their own motivations. This is something that usually works well at the big two publishers (at least until they forget what they were trying to do).
In any case, many things happen in these issues, not only is the end of Barlow, but also the return of Groundchuck and Dirtbag, now as one being. They die again.
The arc also seems to close all the loose ends from Venus' origin and Leatherhead's posession.
By the end of the saga, as I predicted, several characters went their ways. This is actually great in terms of separating the huge cast.
Alopex and the weasels leave for Alaska (I am sure they'll return, or at least, Raph will see them again).
Raph goes on a road trip with his bike.
Donnie and Venus stay studying the whole Armaggon thing.
Mikey and Jennika stay in the city.
Leo returns to Northampton (Donnie will join him later).
I am sure this won't last long...
As for the art, I like Gavin Smith, but I am not particularly fond of his Venus. Her eyes are too big and her... breasts... are there. Since Venus is technically not a Turtle, I guess that is why she "has them", but it is a little confusing... frogs are not mammals... am I thinking too much about this?

Indie Comic Reading Roundup
I've gotten through just about all the trades I checked out at this point (ignoring all the dark knight metal stuff), so here's my thoughts:
Once and Future vol. 1 by Kieron Gillen, art by Dan Mora, colors by Tamara Bonvillain (collected Issues #1-6)
I am not super into arthuriana but I think it's fun to dip my toe into every once in a while. The basic plot here involved the mythic cycle being re-enacted in the modern day, which I am always a sucker for so I thought it was quite fun. The pacing felt a little rough at first--moving very quickly when I would've appreciated a little more time spent to stop and get explanations--but I really felt like it got into the swing of things for the last 2 issues which really took advantage of everything that had been building.
Art was good (though since I've gotten used to seeing Mora draw superheroes, it did take a moment for my brain to switch gears here). The grandmother is very fun. I probably check out more of this series.
The Invisible Kingdom vol.1 by G. Willow Wilson, art by Christian Ward (collected issues #1-5)
This one didn't click for me. With one of the two basic ideas being 'space monastery', I wanted to like it, but I felt like the execution didn't quite do it for me. I think I would've like more time to sit and build out the world more; there were several aspects that I would've liked to see expanded on. There were aspects of the plot that didn't really work for me and I found myself wanting more clarity on what sort of timeline these events were happening on.
Ward's art was also very hit or miss for me: it really thrived when depicting space. It had gorgeous colors and dynamism then. Other times, it felt rough and kind of unfinished in a way that didn't work for me. I don't think I'll be reading this one further.
Dark Spaces: Wildfire by Scott Snyder, art by Hayden Sherman, colors by Ronda Pattison
I really loved this one. This collected a stand-alone 5 issue story that was very well executed. It tells the story of a squad of women convict firefighters in California who embark on a heist which (in true heist form) proceeds to go wrong. It was well plotted--all the characters felt distinct, though with only 5 issues and 5 women on our squad, it felt like we only really got to know a couple really well.
The art was gorgeous. Pattison's colors especially were a pleasure to look at. I definitely recommend checking this one out.
Y: The Last Man by Brian K. Vaughan, art by Pia Geurra, and colors by Pamela Rambo (collected issues #1-10)
This one's a bit of a stretch for the indie comics category since, upon checking, it's Vertigo. Not sure where that falls as a DC imprint. Regardless, it gets included on here as it doesn't take place in any larger universe and I might as well.
Brian Vaughan can tell a good story. This is no exception. I sat down on the floor and read all 10 issues in this in one fell swoop. So yeah, gripping story, very engaging. All the characters and world-building feels very thought out. The main road trip plot going on so far gives a very good excuse to see the different ways the world has been effected/people have responded to plague which wipes all men(except for our titular last one) that is the inciting incident.
I like the art style and flatter colors that this has. I definitely want to read more. Apparently I can access this on dcui which I didn't realize previously. We shall see in which format I end up reading this.

Which Tim Burton movies do you still like? Which do you think are overhyped? And which do you think are just bad?
best tim burton movies (in order):
beetlejuice (this and edward scissorhands are probably his most interesting, unique, and original films)
batman returns (probably his best adaptation of an existing media in how he was able to blend his style with characters that weren't his own)
edward scissorhands (in which burton accidentally stumbled into making one of the best cinematic explorations of autism and physical disabilities)
batman 1989 (michael keaton is neck-and-neck with robert pattison for my favorite live action batman)
ed wood (loved martin landau as bela lugosi)
sleepy hollow (one of the best halloween/autumn movies out there)
overhyped: i gotta say corpse bride is pretty overhyped. like it's fine but the pacing is awkward and the story is clumsy and a bit boring.
honestly i feel like most of the movies that he's made that are adaptations of a previous piece of media or existing ideas are pretty hit or miss. like miss peregrine was mediocre but alice in wonderland was good (in it's own way). batman was amazing but wednesday is pretty reductive. tim burton's greatest tool is his creativity so when he's forced to kinda fold to fit whatever preexisting story is already in place it can take away from the authenticity.
side note: batman returns is severaly underrated and underappreciated in my opinion. i love what they did with penguin i think it's such a fun, unique take on the character and danny devito's performance makes the whole movie. definitely in my top four batman villain performances.
also i say all of this with heavy criticism towards tim burton because of his comments regarding casting black actors in his films (how he shouldn't have to cause it wouldn't fit his aesthetic or whatever the fuck he was trying to say) and just cause the dude's vibes are off imo

Philadelphia locations in The Ray (1992 and 1994)
I tend to be curious about the accuracy of how comics depict real-life locations since I've observed that no one seems to have a clue how to draw the Denver area, so how do both volumes of The Ray do with their portrayal of Philadelphia?
Overall, pretty good! There are quite a few recognizable locations featured throughout. I might have missed some things, since I am not personally familiar with the area, but here's what I noticed.
We don't know where exactly the house that Ray grew up in is meant to be located, but I suspect that it's probably in Center City, where most of the Philadelphia-based events of the story take place.
Using some ethically dubious methods, Ray finds out that his childhood friend Jenny Jurden works at a bank on Pine Street. This is an actual street in West Philadelphia, but it's a primarily residential area (with some beautiful houses and flowering trees). The location of the bank as pictured indicates that it's downtown; the silhouette of what looks like City Hall is visible down the street, so the actual real-world equivalent location might be more like Market Street.
(The Ray 1992 #1)
This would seem to fit with Ray's zipping past One South Broad while pursuing Jenny's kidnappers. This 1930s building was owned during this time by the Philadelphia National Bank (hence the initials on the roof) and was used for offices.
While following his father shortly after meeting him, Ray flies past quite a few landmarks from Center City. These include:
Independence Hall (the civic building where the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were ratified)
Statues that unfortunately I have been unable to identify (does anyone recognize them in the second panel below?)
Philadelphia City Hall, the PSFS Building (1930s skyscraper built for the Philadelphia Savings Fund Society, vacant at the time of this story but now a hotel), and the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul (the largest Catholic church in Pennsylvania)--seen in the background from what might be Logan Square (a nearby historical park), with the Washington Monument at Eakins Oval in the foreground
The Philadelphia Museum of Art
Clothespin Sculpture
Playing Angels statues (at Kelly Drive and Fountain Green Drive near the Schuykill River)
(The Ray 1992 #2)
Later, he runs out of power at the Italian Market on 9th Street in South Philadelphia. This is far enough away from his house that he has to take a bus back.
Ray and his dad argue while flying over the Benjamin Franklin Bridge, identifiable by its distinctive towers.
(The Ray 1992 #3)
Ray learns how to make light constructs in Fairmount Park and later fights with Doctor Polaris there.
(The Ray 1992 #3, 5)
But that fight begins on the dome of City Hall, notable for its distinctive statues, with city founder William Penn at the top of the dome.
Ray's cousin Hank's apartment is at the corner of Reed and Crandall Streets in South Philadelphia. Reed Street is real, Crandall is not.
(The Ray 1992 #6)
Another fight takes place near One Liberty Place (a 1980s skyscraper used as office space, controversial at the time of its building for its defiance of a long-standing gentleman's agreement not to build any structure in Center City higher than the statue of William Penn on City Hall) and the previously seen Cathedral Basilica.
After losing his first job at a burger place, Ray works as an ice cream vendor at a baseball stadium, probably the now-demolished Veterans Stadium at Broad Street and Pattison Avenue in South Philadelphia.
(Black Canary 1993 #8)
A lot of these buildings from the skyline show up frequently in the background, like here when Ray and his father fly past One South Broad, City Hall, and One Liberty Place.
(The Ray 1994 #3)
Or when Ray emerges after absorbing the Light Entity's energy into the middle of the skyline, where the PSFS Building and City Hall are visible.
(The Ray 1994 #4)
The Benjamin Franklin Bridge shows up again when Ray's father attacks him after he absorbs the Light Entity's energy. A lot of conflict on/around bridges in this series.
After "losing" his powers, Ray wakes up on a park bench with the PSFS Building, the Cathedral Basilica, and City Hall visible in the distance, possibly at Logan Square or another nearby park area?
(The Ray 1994 #5)
Ray's apartment is on the south end of Center City, over a pizzeria.
(The Ray 1994 #11)
After what happens between him and Dinah, Ray execitedly dances in mid-air on his way home, giving us a good view of the Philadelphia skyline, specifically City Hall and One South Broad.
The plane that Ray tries to stop crashes in Center City in water near an overpass. This might be the Vine Street Expressway, which crosses the Schuykill River and connects with the Schuykill Expressway.
(The Ray Annual #1)
As Ray leaves work with his cousin's abandoned date, they walk through a park with City Hall behind them, the PSFS building and the Cathedral Basilica to the left, and a smaller version of the Washington Monument in the foreground. This location seems to combine elements of Logan Square (the view) with Eakins Oval (the statue).
This also implies that the Clucky Chicken restaurant where Ray works is in or near the middle of downtown.
(The Ray 1994 #13)
After taking a job with Vandal Savage's company, Ray moves into a condo, which has a view across the river to the skyline, including the PSFS Building etc. Since this is the sunrise, facing east, he apparently has moved across the Schuykill River to the University City neighborhood. There are indeed high-end places for rent there to this day, such as this location.
(The Ray 1994 #15)
There is significance to Neron's apartment overlooking the Cathedral Basilica, as seen when Ray is there about to receive an offer to sell his soul. He is losing sight of his faith and morals by being in this apartment at all.
(The Ray 1994 #19)
And finally, the (fictional) Benton Building where Ray works for Savage is near One Liberty Place, a plausible area for office buildings.
(The Ray 1994 #20)
#comicsposting again#RT: born with the light#I strongly suspect that the artist for the 1992 series traveled to Philadelphia or at least had someone take very useful reference pictures#Google Maps was not a thing in the 1990s so location research would have to involve other means

The Batman
youtube
It tells the story of Bruce Wayne, a mature American billionaire who, during a fight, meets a 19-year-old girl (Catwoman). They both know each other, and try to work together. and even though batman insists they must know nothing about each other. Catwoman (Selina Kyle) does not hide her identity. In their repeated encounters, the love scenes are increasingly daring. Finally, Selina breaks the pact and tells Bruce that her best friend is missing.
After dancing in a nightclub, the young woman decides to end the relationship and find out who is responsible. She follows him to the apartment where the killer lives and tries to shoot him. But she doesn't know that that man is her own father.
The film oscillates between two extremes, on the one hand, it shows, with an excessive rawness, I don't know if I'm in the mood to hear the sexual enjoyment of the two characters; on the other hand, it reveals the loneliness of both in their escape from reality.
The intensity of the encounter comes into sharp contradiction with the daily lives of the protagonists. The pair's excesses, in which Batman progressively includes components of sadism, are for both a tragic way of forgetting pain and even combating it.
The film is dark, it's like it's at a dead end.
The two protagonists refuse mutual emotional closeness. When Batman tries to break this barrier, both recognize the spiritual poverty of those in front of them. Selina Mata. and when Bruce tries to turn a kiss into something more.
Many were scandalized by the boldness of the scenes and criticized the director for facilitating the path to free and widespread expression of comedy. When Batman meets the real Riddler. She made me laugh.
The film is impressive and harrowing, the two actors fascinate with the intensity of their performance. Robert Pattison and Zoe Kravitz
And giving the role to Robert Pattison, a symbol of rebellion, was a brilliant choice.
We have the Riddler's disenchanted image of a man who has left behind the best years of his life, referring both to the protagonist, Bruce, and to the actor himself.
Robert said goodbye to his image as the 'manly twilight heartthrob' hero, although he once again surprised and excited the public.

I guess that explains that dragon symbol ● Casey saying that his dad can beat him up all he wants, but he’s not allowed to touch Casey’s “family” <3 <3 <3 ● Bebop and Rocksteady have entered the chat ● 👏👏👏👏👏
Synopsis: Outside a seedy joint, Woody and Mike put the finishing touches on their cunning plan. Woody gives Mike (who is dressed as an Italian chef) a fresh pizza and then skedaddles to safety. Apparently, they’ve been at this all night, but Mike has a good feeling about this round.
Mike knocks on the door and a couple of thugs answer. They didn’t order any pizza, but figure they ought to eat before they get going to “the big meeting”. Hearing all he needed, Mikey ditches the disguise (that wasn’t really working) and starts beating some answers out of the thugs regarding this underworld meeting.
At an abandoned warehouse, Angel finally challenges Hun for leadership of the Purple Dragons. She hits him with her escrima, but he feels nothing. Before the fight can escalate, a Foot messenger appears from the shadows with orders to Hun to bring the Dragons to a meeting of gangs where they will all swear allegiance to the Foot Clan. Hun asks the Dragons if they’d rather be a glorified neighborhood watch under Angel’s leadership or filthy rich under his and the Shredder’s leadership. The Dragons side with Hun and Angel leaves, defeated.
Down in the church lair, Don shows off the anti-gravity gauntlets to April and Raph. Suddenly, Mike bursts in with news about the underworld meeting; he has a time and a location. Splinter tells his sons and April that they must prepare to reclaim Leonardo from the Shredder.
Speaking of Leo, at Foot HQ, is lost in a dream. He sees himself and his brothers about to be executed by the Shredder in Feudal Japan. He is confused and thinks everything is all wrong. The spirit of his mother, Tang Shen appears to him and tells him that he does not belong here. The Shredder swings his sword and Leo awakens, screaming. Karai has been watching him with a cruel look in her eyes. Dark Leo asks if everything is ready for the meeting. Karai sneers and tells him that all the "preparations" have been made.
In a parking garage, the Turtles stock up on provisions with Old Hob and Slash. Raph doesn’t like the amount of munitions Hob is bringing along, but Splinter tells him to appreciate any aid they can get in their mission. April agrees to operate as getaway driver and sends Casey a text, telling him she’s going to help the Turtles find Leo.
At Foot HQ, Alopex meets with Kitsune. Speaking in Japanese (as Kitsune does not speak English), Alopex tells her that when she first heard the stories of a fox-woman from Feudal Japan, it helped her feel at peace, as though she wasn’t the only humanoid fox in the world. Kitsune replies in English (much to Alopex’s surprise) and tells her that foxes must be cunning and know when to watch and when to act. Alopex looks surprised, as though Kitsune knows something.
At the hospital, Angel brings Casey his hockey mask which she found outside the Skara Brae. Casey tells her that his dad came by the other day, looking healthier and happier, and gave him a hockey mask as a peace offering. Angel spills the beans about his father, “Hun”, and how he has taken over the Purple Dragons and wants to ally himself with the Foot. Casey grows furious and hobbles out of his hospital bed and gets dressed. He’s had enough sitting on the sidelines and wants to go to the big meeting to help save Leo and face down his father.
At an old abandoned theater, the Shredder takes the stage as all the gangs in New York watch. He tells them that he has taken command of every gang in New York, one at a time, with only a single hold out: The Savate. The beaten Victor is brought onto the stage and Dark Leo hands Shredder a sword. As Shredder makes an example of Victor by decapitating him, the spirit of Tang Shen appears to Dark Leo and repeats what she said in his dream. Leo becomes disoriented and begins to have second thoughts about his allegiance.
Outside the theater, Splinter gives the sign to begin their assault. Old Hob fires a rocket at the parking lot, exploding several cars as Slash charges the sentries. The Shredder orders the gangs to leave the theater and deal with the attackers. Meanwhile, Don uses his anti-gravity gauntlets to levitate a sedan and sends it smashing through the side of the theater. The Turtles and Splinter invade the theater and tear their way through the Foot Soldiers guarding the Shredder.
In the parking lot, Hun grabs a machinegun and leads the fight against Hob and Slash. He nails Hob in the leg and is about to gun down Slash when the weapon is knocked from his hand. Hun turns around to find Angel and Casey (wearing his old hockey mask).
Inside, Don uses his gauntlet to send Shredder careening into Alopex. Dark Leo attacks Raph but can’t bring himself to deliver a killing blow. Eventually, he succumbs to the confusion and falls to his knees. Shredder orders Karai to prevent the Turtles from escaping. She disables Don’s gauntlet with an arrow then calls in her personal reinforcements: Bebop and Rocksteady.

Harpeth River State Park
Visited 11/6/23
Narrows of the Harpeth
Trails were short so if you’re looking for a long hike this probably wouldn’t be the best option, but if you do decide to walk the trails you won’t be disappointed. The bluff overlook trail is a half mile but you go up extremely steep steps and will warn you there is no safety barrier on either side. As you arrive at the top you’ll be greeted by a panoramic view of the Harpeth River. If you bring your little ones on this trip please make sure to be careful and keep eyes on them.
After enjoying the view and making the trip back down if you make a left it’ll take you on another half mile trail along the backside of the limestone bluff leads you to Montgomery Bell's Pattison Forge where a small waterfall comes out of the historic tunnel. I suggest going during summer or after some good rainfall
Sadly it hasn’t rained much lately but was still cool to see in person. It’s listed as industrial landmark on the National Register of Historic Place
Things to know:
The park and canoe access sites are on private land there is no camping or overnight parking.
While walking up the bluff it’s best to keep your hands free since there is a little bit of climbing.
Best to pack light and remember what you hike with you hike back out with.
Dogs can walk the trails just remember to have them on a leash and if you take them to the bluff be careful.
Park hours
April to September: 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
November to February: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
October and March: 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Things I liked and disliked about the park:
I liked the trails weren’t hard the steps was really my main issue but will gladly do it again to see the view at top.
I enjoyed how peaceful it was even if it was a short hike.
I didn’t like how going up the bluff trail there wasn’t a railing or safety barrier. Could be dangerous if someone missed a step or something..
For being an important park I thought there would be a little more history to learn or more information signs. I also didn’t like how there wasn’t much trail markers but with it being a short distance probably don’t need them.
I didn’t like how small the parking lot was but you can also park at different locations so that’s nice.
Overall it was a great park and would easily go back.

Wolf like me (you think of a better title)
July 14th, 2009
Unless you have been living under a proverbial rock you will be aware that SFX released a vampire special this month and although it is a tad pricey, it’s worth getting your mits on for the Buffy mouse pads and very long and detailed interview with James Marsters. James a.k.a Spike was voted the number one vampire by the good readers of the magazine, which is a fair assesment. The top ten seemed pretty spot on if it wasn’t for Selena from Underworld being in there, but the commentry on her was “I SO WOULD PHWWWOAR” rather then a intricate reflection of her fanged antics… at least Robert Pattison’s placing in the top 50 had the pull out quote “When you read the book it’s like “Edward Cullen was so beautiful I creamed myself”"
In honour of this I have made a Top Ten Six Werewolf list
6. Professor Lupin: Isn’t it weird that his last name is a deviation of the latin word for wolf like AND he is a wolf?! It’s like those people whose last names are Pratt and they are pratts! Oh Miss Rowling, your subtlety never fails to amaze me…
5. The cast of Dog Soldiers: This British horror film is a favorite of myself and Ollie’s, and the name summarizes the film better then I ever could… It’s mindless, stupid, entertaining, and better then Severance so bonus.
4. Joanie in Cursed: This film directed by Wes Craven is a thinly veiled lesson in safe sex, with the werewolfness being spread by Joshua Jackson’s unprotected penis. Myself and Alek saw it in the cinema and felt the line uttered by the character Joanie “I guess there is no such thing as safesex with a werewolf” was wonderful. Plus it’s the only film I have seen with a werewolf giving Christina Ricci the middle finger.
3. Michael Sheen in the Underworld trilogy: Technically he is only in one and two, but because he can act proper and that he manages to make the films half decent. Plus this film is about the forbidden love between a vampire and a werewolf which we have all pondered over and contains a particularly impressive sex scene over the edge of a cliff.
2. OZ! When I was younger I really liked Seth Green and all I wanted in my life was a small ginger boy with black nail varnish who played guitar to sweep me off my feet, I was what you might call “emo” and “living in a fantasy world of my own creation.” Anyway, due to this affliction I was rather invested in his and Willow’s love.
I was impressed with how they dealt with him being a wolf and Willows little fling with Xander and I cried my little heart out when that EVIL SLUT Veruca teased him away with her werelady charms.
1. Brigette and Ginger in Ginger Snaps: This film is about two nerdy death obsessed sisters and is a thinly veiled (aren’t they all!) metaphor for going through fun puberty, where one of them literally gets “The Curse” but thinks it is just her hormones or a really bad period rather then because a werewolf bit her. It’s a good twist on the werewolf genre, and is maybe like Heathers but with Wereladies.
(Oh and the second one is set in Pagan times, and isn’t very good.)
p.s I went to see the first ever screening of the new Harry Potter film last friday in London and Simon Mayo was there, but sadly no Mark Kemode. However, I will give a little review of it after the premiere on Tuesday as well as covering myself with the free Harry Potter transfer tattoos I got.

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES #150 (FINAL ISSUE)
April 2024
By Sophie Campbell, Kevin Eastman , Vincenzo Federici, Fero Pe, Dan Duncan, Ronda Pattison, Luis Antonio Delgado, and Shawn Lee.
Donatello... does things. Venus does things. The other Turtles are there somewhere.
SCORE: 5
It's not an easy issue to discuss without spoilers... so what can I say here?
The book finally solves a plot that started with the first five issues of volume 5 (and specifically, issue 50). But overall, the story is a little too abstract and I'd be surprised if people could look back and explain this saga to me without getting lost (something that happens to me any time I try to remember "Final Crisis")
I got lost many times. And the fact that new characters were introduced in this issue just to make up for the missing turtles, made it all the more puzzling.
This is not the ending that this volume deserved... I think there is something valuable here, but I am afraid it didn't make it to the page intact. This sounds too abstract on the page, and characters are just going with the flow. It's almost like someone cut the number of chapters by half and this was the result.
There are interesting moments, visually. Like a whole sequence that takes place at the beginning of this run (with guest star Dan Duncan). And another beautiful moment by Sophie Campbell. The rest was good. Fero Pe is definitely the highlight for me.
Spoilers after the break...
Jennika, Mikey, Leo, and Raph are not in this story... did we really need three more turtles? I guess they had the know how necessary to defeat Armaggon, but this felt like the wrong time to introduce new characters. I would have preferred the five (and Venus) Turtles fighting together.
Still, it was interesting to see this volume's version of making characters permanent (in the Mirage books, ink did the trick).
Things got a bit too abstract at this point. I couldn't understand what was happening to Armaggon anymore.
I am sure Armaggon's story is all a metaphor for humans not leaving things alone, or something similar, and I can recognize the story beats. I am just... a little confused on the how.
It also seems like Lita is not turning back to Turtle (her QNA was absorbed by Bob from the future... who was left in Feudal Japan, I think...?)
So Venus was in charge of helping the Hamatos reincarnate, and then she joined Yoshi and Shen in the afterlife. Well... she could definitely reincarnate!
I have to make sense if Sophie's run, and knowing how it ends will very likely help me follow the story better. While this Armaggon plot started with this saga, there are several moments before and during Armageddon game that made this story so hard to follow.
There is one question I have left, though... what was the role of the mutagen in all of this?
Something was different about Splinter and the Turtles, and that was why Slash was initially a savage. It wasn't until they added a special component to it that Slash became intelligent. Is that now present in all types of mutagen? Sorry for the tangent.
I think overall, Sophie's run was good. It had an indie feel that reminded me a lot of Volume four. She was only going to do 12 issues and her run extended until the end of the book. Of course, in the middle the Armageddon game happened that took almost an entire year.
I think the Turtles universe became just too big. So big, that the main characters were competing for attention (Casey Jones, anyone?). This is why I think it is a good idea to expand the titles and give more space to the original four turtles. I will be reading Mutant Nation (of course), and I bet it will feel much better knowing that all these characters have now a proper place to grow.
That is, assuming a year from now all the announced books are still going (not an easy feat with comic books).

Tag Game To Better Know You!
Tagged by the lovely and talented @lady--lisa (So sorry for taking so long! I didn't forget! I just couldn't figure out a way to copy all the questions easily on mobile)
If you saw the first version of this no u didnt
What book are you currently reading?
I'm halfway through Anne of Avolea by L.M Montgomery and a few chapters into the Colour of Magic by Terry Pratchett. I really should read more, I used to devour books back when I was a kid, but the library I volunteer at is based on community requests so its almost entirely formulaic ghostwritten thrillers (curse you James Pattison). If anyone has book recommendations let me know!
What’s your favourite movie you saw in theatres this year?
I think the only movie I saw was the new Top Gun, which I only watched because my mum loves the original and we went for her birthday. I wouldn't say its fantastic, but I did end up infodumping to my friends about propaganda and pop culture.
What do you usually wear?
Usually loose jeans or other sturdy pants and some variety of print t-shirt with my red flannel. Anxiety kind of made it into my uni uniform, I never thought I'd miss my high school uniform that much. When I'm at home I'm usually wearing shorts and an old singlet that I got in grade 8 or something. Winter means I get to wear big jumpers! I have this horrifically ugly one on it that says New Zealand with a red kiwi on it, I adore it. If I'm reaching out of my miniscule comfort zone I'll wear a funky button up or a more form fitting shirt, I've always dressed quite modestly (although not entirely by choice) and this year I cut my hair off and started to explore my masculinity and being openly and visibly queer. I pretty much only wear natural fibres and very practial/sensory friendly clothing, so most of my clothes are made to last and will be repaired until I deign them unwearable.
Fun fact, I used to actually dress in a style I'd say is somewhere between classic lolita and cottagecore, lots of pinafores and frilly shirts and ribbons. Next year I'd like to step out of my comfort zone and dress in any way that sparks joy, maybe experiment with makeup, different styles or more revealing clothing (ooh a shoulder, scandalous).
How tall are you?
I'm actually not quite sure, between 165cm and 170cm I think (5'5" to 5'7")
What’s your Star Sign? Do you share a birthday with a celebrity or a historical event?
Gemini
Do you go by your name or a nick-name?
I introduce myself with my name but with hopes that I'll get a nickname, I've always wanted one.
Did you grow up to become what you wanted to be when you were a child?
I'm still in uni but by a technicality yes? I wanted to be a scientist but came to dislike science in high school, but now I'm doing archeology (and history) through an arts degree but I could do it through a science degree. I did really enjoy digging in the dirt as a child, so I think little me would be happy about that, even if i was more into paleontology.
Are you in a relationship? If not, who is your crush if you have one?
No. I do have a bit of a crush on my best friend, who I turned down a year ago because I'm the stupidest person alive and can't tell the difference between friendship feelings and romantic feelings.
What’s something you’re good at vs. something you’re bad at?
I'm good with precision and detail orientated things. I love knitting and I've picked up archery and bread making recently. Its actually why I got into archaeology, I wanted to work in restoration and conservation.
I'm bad at remembering to do stuff. It's the ADHD man. Assessments? whoops. Consistent meals? Forgot. Cleaning? sorry not happening
Dogs or cats?
Dogs, I've never had a cat and don't really know how they work.
If you draw/write, or create in any way, what’s your favourite picture/favourite line/favourite etc. from something you created this year?
I knitted my best friend some lovely socks, they're my first pair of socks and my second time doing fair isle.
What’s something you would like to create content for?
Look I know this means fandom but I have to start planning for what I'm putting in the show next year, it's only 6 months away. I'd love to do some more sewing, maybe make a gunne sax style dress (provided my anxiety will let me wear it out of the house) and I want to find something technically challenging for knitting, maybe lacework? Send me knitting/crafting inspo. I was thinking of maybe picking up counted thread embroidery too (yes I hate myself).
What’s something you’re currently obsessed with?
Star Wars. I've got brain worms about it. I've been microwaving it for months. Its been on my mind constantly, yet I have no thoughts. I'm forcing all of my friends to watch it. I'm rewatching all of it. I know nothing but also everything. I'm being excessively autistic about a background character wearing a cable knit jumper.
Good thing is that it makes conversation with men under 25 incredibly easy. I've made industry connections over a conversation about Lego Star Wars.
What’s something you were excited about that turned out to be disappointing this year?
Uhhhhhh. My uni's archaeology society? The history society raised my standards high, they do a lot of fun events, whereas the archaeology one is useful but a lot more industry training and connections focused instead of having regular pizza and power-point nights like the history one.
What’s a hidden talent of yours?
Hmm. I'm not too sure. I can flip an egg without using anything other than the pan, does that count? Like just wiggle, wiggle, throw it up in the air and catch it.
Are you religious?
Catholic but in a cool and funky queer way
What’s something you wish to have at this moment?
A concrete plan of what the hell I'm doing and how to do it. A solution to my joint pain?
Tagging: (only if you want to) @elprupneerg @rights-for-redshirts @doveyluvey @notaghost3 @swagtalia @radioactivehydronerd @hetaari @arthoe-iceland @ratfish-blues and anyone else who sees this is welcome to join in!
#if anyone is going to do it i would recommend copying the questions across not on mobile#long post#ask game#tag game#love tag games!

Inspired by the real story of a high school American-football coach and his team’s participation in the 2004 season. The fall and rise of one of the most consistent team, especially after holding a record for the longest winning streak, what happens when it was broken unexpectedly? Do the players lose the confidence, coach be clueless, parents go crazy and media annoys them, is what neatly this film narrated. It looked nice to me and I had a good time, but it was too long and not inspiring as the other sports film based on the true events. From the director of ‘Coach Carter’, another decent sports film. I am not disappointed because I was not expecting to be a masterpiece, though not bad for once viewing. All the actors were good, especially it is Jim Caviezel’s one of the major roles and he was amazing. American-football was always been an Americas sport, so I never interested in it except watching films based on them for inspiration. Especially after ‘Conccusion’, my interest on them dropped further. Whatever I said is not a reason to skip the film. As a film, it did the right thing to portray the real life achievers on the screen to boost the young sports persons. Only to me it was just an above average, but for many others, it is one of the best sports film of the year. Forget the American-football, what I liked was, achievements are good for our progress and make a career, but sometimes there’s much more than making records in the games. So it’s a good moral lesson film than a fine entertaining film. I won’t recommend it, but definitely not a waste of time. 6.5/10
