Recently I asked a writer about writing YN vs OC, and I saw another person comment saying “Nooooo OCs are better”…

And it kind of made me irritated.

Growing up, all stories I read were OC. And The OC is always a white, blonde girl who is skinny and pretty with perfectly straight hair and fair skin with bright blue or green eyes. And well…I can’t relate.

When I discovered fanfiction, it still was several years until I found YN stories. YN stories were so mesmerizing to me because I no longer had to struggle to relate to being white, blonde, fair, or non-brown eyed.

I understand that everyone has their own preferences for stories, but sometimes there’s a damn good reason people like YN stories and I’m honestly TIRED of people shitting on us as authors and readers for YN/reader insert stories.

So you can think OCs are better, but you can keep your white, blonde, fair skinned, blue eyed character and your thoughts to yourself. I’ll be the protagonist in my stories.

I would just like to say the author I asked was really nice and answered politely and did not get mad at my question, and I appreciate her for that.

Okay, here’s a weird memory. I had one of the OG Sega CDs; not the little Walkman-looking thing that hooked up next to the Genesis/MegaDrive, the big drawer-drive thing that went under it. And I remember one of the like, demo-game discs that came with it was some kind of thing where you could splice together different footage and make your own music video. Except it was for Marky Mark & The Funky Bunch, so… yeah. Baby rapper Mark Wahlberg… just kind of doing various things.

But what really stands out as weird to me is some of the copy I remember from the case or instructions or something. It was like “Boys like to see him box. Girls like the other thing that ends in X.” And even at like, eight years old, I remember being like “WTF.”

people on tumblr will literally post things like “you have to eat vegetables and expand your palate i dont care if you are a picky eater because of autism (if i can overcome it you can too)” and everybody will reblog it being like “yes this is true for everybody no matter what” and think its okay. like sorry but that wont work for everyone and there is no one size fits all and some people will never be able to eat these things no matter how hard they try. im only allowed by my doctors to eat recreationally and not for nutrition, because my ARFID is so severe that i get my nutrition solely from a specially made formula drink. your suggestions of “try vegetables roasted!” or “try them in soup!” and assurances of “i did it, you can too!” don’t work for those of us with more severe mental illnesses and disabilities. stop tying a person’s worth to their diet and stop assuming everybody has the ability to do what you can.

Here is a drawing of one of my favourite changes in choreography in the Australian deh production :)

During Good For You, after Alana and Jared have their little solos, Alana comes to the front of the stage and crouches down with her hands over her head, completely still. At the same time, Jared goes upstage and paces back and forth very quickly - every time he has to turn around he makes stilted and frustrated gestures as if he doesn’t know what to do with himself. I was very excited by this, as it is so unlike the broadway version of this scene where they stand symmetrically on opposite sides of the stage. Instead, Alana and Jared’s reaction to their feelings are clearly contrasted against each other. It seemed so natural too; while they move in formation for a lot of gfy, here it was like they had to take a break from the song because of how overwhelmed they were! Which only made it easier to empathise with them. The whole song was spectacular of course but this particular decision I think was very successful. I have always been intrigued by the contrast between Alana and Jared and it was really brought to the forefront in this moment.

Hey! I see you have many asks so I don't wanna add more to the list so this one is quick :)

I just want to say thank you genuinely from bottom of my heart for the gojo meta posts. Especially the one about his students and how he's not the best and perfect teacher for them. I see a lot of discourse that paints him as 'poor little mew mew' and all I want to say to that discourse is: yes and!!!! Yes he is poor little mew mew but let's not close our eyes on his flaws!!!

God I can't wait for this manga to be over already.

Gojo is a sad pathetic wet cat that pretends to be dry. He’s also a little bit racist, slightly misogynistic, has questionable morals, and is extremely annoying. I love him dearly.

Him trying his best and being cringefail is the appeal to me. Though I mostly blame the higher ups and his Clan for why he is the way he is at this point. (That Gojo Booklet did numbers on me.) 3 hours of sleep daily, constantly high on Reverse Cursed Energy and sugar. Raised as a weapon by an emotionally distant family that kept him walled off from the outside world, completely tanking his chances of proper socialization. He was set up for failure.

It’s just really unfortunate that the students (and Ijichi) got caught in the crossfires of Gojo’s unique and twisted psychological problems. And that kind of seems to be the point? How systemic issues ruin people’s lives.

I don’t want the manga to end though. There are too many plot things that should be expanded on. I’m hoping for a spin off for Heian Era lore, one-shots to fill in gaps, or more light novels. It’s hard not to want more when there are oodles of unexplored character interactions that are downright criminal.
