i could rant forever about just, everything going on right now but i dont want to waste your time. this arc right now is like insane??? /vpos

back in mid december, i got recommended episode 11 of ava, and it completely reignited my passion for this show. i loved it back in 2018 (6 years ago *a grey hair appears*), 'the virus' is like top 5 episodes for me. i could go on about alans storytelling but i want to talk about yours >:3

dark is actually my favourite character in media right now, and is top 3 for me in my whole life (number 1 goes to rainbow dash). hes arguably the most complex character in the whole show, and you convey him perfectly!? the witty cold-but-has-a-soft-spot™ attitude, the flirting with enemies, the over protectiveness of chosen, the "he learns quantum theory for fun"; its just so perfect and is what id imagine dark to be like if he was an anti hero in a cartoon.

the art, dont even get me started. your art style is so scrumptious 5 star meal yummy in my tummy it makes me stim so hard when i see it. and OMG DARKYELLOW. ohhhhh darkyellow. i love love love love love love love love them SO MUCH. im thinking about making a shrine to them like HOLY SHIT. combining one of the most underappreciated members of the CG and my favourite character in the show!? youre killing me over here. im kinda grateful my dark rp blog didnt get big because i wouldnt have been able to see your amazing art.

it was also the 11th ep that got me into this fandom. well. I had it in my recommended and went "huh. last time they were fighting a spider. how did we get here" and then I got caught up and uhh yeah. 2 months and 8 spontaneus headmates (most we ever acquired in a short period) later this thing is beloved to me.

it genuinely makes me so, SO happy that you not only enjoy my depiction of dark, but see my vision!!! because if the person I literally have the programming to destroy within my code was also the only friend I had and they consistently overshadowed me without even meaning to Id probably develop some sort of wretched mental health about it too.

and like!!! most people miss this but Dark didnt try to kill Chosen. because he clearly had the chance and was in the mindspace to after destroying CG, but he did not. despite it being literally in his code, he did not! that takes SO much self control you dont even know. he simply tired them out and subdued them so they couldnt get in his way about it. that was what the bracelet was for, so he didnt tire himself out as well. it was always more of a defense mechanism first and a weapon second and I think abt that a lot.

I could probably yap about this man for hours if given the chance and Im not joking! I hate that for a character with a lot of possible intricacies, Alan didnt do much with him. but Im also glad a little because uhm. whatever alan would come up with I can do better. by projecting my NPD symptoms onto him. /exag /silly

and darkyellow was NOT planned, surprisingly enough, and @hiiperfixate has as equal of a hand in it as I did. but Im genuinely so happy with him and Im glad others are too. ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING IF DARK DID HAVE SOME SORT OF HEIR TO HIS THECNOLOGY ITD DEF BE YELLOW!! FOR BETTER OR FOR WORSE!! yellow deserves a chance to go ape shit just because, I think. also I love how he reminds me of caution tape thats what I was calling him before darkyellow got caught on.

We have had this conversation many times before, but I think it's worth repeating and stressing out:

Cringe culture is dead, embrace what you love making and do it unapologetically.

Speaking as an artist, I've found myself assaulted many times by the dichotomy of making art that is acceptable vs the art I want to make. By acceptable I don't mean void of controversy (art is all about sharing your own voice and sometimes that is controversial!) but art that I know it's gonna be well received by the internet.

Take fanart for example; it's not only that fanart is gonna be more popular and well received than original art (duh) but also fanart from certain media will garner more attention. A fanart from a different media will have less tracking and that is all well and understood; I'm not taking about popularity here, I'm talking about guilt.

Guilt about making something from a fandom and have people construct an idea about you, guilt about putting work and time into something that is not gonna interest the people that follow you and may drive them away. We have to get rid of that; how many stories are not being told due to guilt? How many niche fandoms are missing out on amazing artists?

I've found myself unsure about posting art of different stuff and even creating it. Getting stuck into this X fandom I may like and it's popular and well received and not being brave enough to share other things that are dear to my heart, due to this guilt. No one will care, they will think I'm this way or that, I will be an annoyance on people's feeds.

And that is so fucked up.

For example, at the start of the year I took the hard decision to stop being a freelance artist and change careers (for several reasons, I won't go into it now). It was incredibly painful and I could not bring myself to pick up a pencil again and create for months. I got into Harry Potter rolplaying in a very private environment and I didn't share it with anyone because I felt guilt for liking that fandom too- I've tried to move forward, grow out of it, but I just can't. I'm gonna be thirty soon and I've come to realize it's my special interest, it fills me in ways that other things can't. It's comfort, it's home.

The thing that got me out of a very toxic moment with art? Drawing my Harry Potter OC I use for rolplay. I love him so much, it's very dear to me and I would love to share the rich history I've built around him but again- even after all this time, I found myself feeling guilty. About liking Harry Potter, about having a cringey rp OC, about not posting art for the other fandoms I've been into.

And you know what? I'm tired of it. This fills me with a creative passion I hadn't felt in years, it makes me want to draw again even if no one really cares. I'm tired of feeling guilty and I won't let myself be reigned by it no longer.

Who cares if it's a rp oc, if it's a self insert in some ways, if it's cringe or overdone. I do have a creative voice, stories to tell, things that I love and it's that love I want to share.

Life is too short to stop yourself from creating and sharing something you love. Create the thing, share the thing. At the end of the day there is no one else but yourself to be accountable for the things you have or haven't done.

So, I'm running this account as a Nico di Angelo rp/slice of life account (If you want to do a rp, submit a question in the "Ask Me Anything" blue button at the top of the blog). For people who don't know, Nico di Angelo is a book character from the Percy Jackson book series (who had his own book (The Sun and The Star)) and is my favorite character in the whole series (Leo and Will fighting for second, and Mrs. O'leary, Tyson, and Ella having a place in my heart for First and a half place, then Hazel, then Percy and Annabeth in fourth place). But anyways, I like writing and poetry with occasional side of photography, I also LOVE art (and fanart) and am writing my own story about my own characters inspired by the Percy Jackson series and Steven Universe show. I gave a rough draft of the first few chapters of it to my friends in middle school and they absolutely loved it, so I might upload occasional anecdotes of rough drafts I have. That or the occasional character analysis of my characters.

I was born before Shu and Reiji. But good old Karl didn't want a girl to be his first born (~because stupid politics and sexism~). So instead of raising me in our dear fucked up little family I was thrown away. They didn't want me so I was tossed away and they tried again a few years later for sons - and got Shu and later Reiji.

Who raised me? Uncle Richter - he did a good job in my opinion, not the best but not the worst either.

How did I become a Witch? I had a master - someone to teach me! :)

What's my sensuality? I'm Bisexual-!

Am I in a relationship? Nope! I'm comfortably single right now!

What kind of Witch are you? The jack of all trades kind! I can do at least a little bit of every type of magic - I've had many years to study and learn after all. I'm really good with most magics too - there are only a few that are difficult to do for me.

Do I drink blood from Humans? Only if they give me permission on all fronts. I don't like crossing boundaries with the Humans I know - so if they don't want &/or consent to being bitten I won't bite. I get most of my blood from hunting animals.

What are some things I like? Magic obviously. It's amazing. I also love to do art - sketching is my favorite. Skateboarding is something I like and do a lot. I also like reading books of all kinds.

What am I afraid of? Not telling you guys, I know my father is on here and I don't trust him with that information.

I would like to know how you feel sometimes when people don’t know put your name on your artwork I see people repost your artwork on TikTok or on here and they take your name off or block it out, and the art is amazing like seriously and you deserve every amount recognition.

The worst kind is when someone is selling a product with my art on it, (and I obviously don't wanna sound like I'm bragging or anything) but that unfortunately happens way too often.

I don't mind people using my art as a profile picture or even for a fic, or for inspiration for their own art. I really, really appreciate when people reach out and ask before using my art for anything, even if it is just for something as small as a profile picture. In any instance that has to do with reposting though, in general, I think the least you can do is link back to -or at the very least make people aware who the original creator is.

I think it's wonderful to get more eyes on my stuff regardless of where it is, I'd love to be able to inspire or otherwise make a positive impact on someone's life (that's the whole reason I do what I do), but I use the fan art I post as advertisement for my freelance work and to sell prints. If I wasn't posting, and if I wasn't doing it as frequently, I wouldn't get clients. So if the drawings are just floating around aimlessly and no one has any idea where they came from, then obviously no one is gonna reach out for commissions, and no prints are gonna get sold.

But yeah... There's nothing to be done about it, unfortunately, at least not anything that wouldn't otherwise hurt me back, like making my watermark much larger, or end up seeming like an awful person by having to RP as cyber-police and yell at people to "PLEASE, ADD CREDIT!!!" and such 😓

Another thing too is, whenever I do come across one of my drawings reposted somewhere and it doesn't have even a shadow of credit anywhere, reading what people are saying in the comments gives me the same feeling as if someone had made me aware that people were talking about me behind my back, y'know. Like it's something I'm not supposed to see. I know that's just my brain being weird, but it always makes me feel so oddly empty, even if the vast majority of the comments are positive.

Sorry for the long answer lmao, but TL:DR; I really, truly, dislike it, even if it's nice to know more people get to see my work.

do you have developed dynamics with the oc of another mun that has influenced your oc muse?

!! honestly writing with other ocs always helps me develop my ocs more, just seeing how they react to various situations and whatnot!! however, currently, i have the most developed dynamics with the amazing ocs of @thesundowncrew (a mun i’ve known for many years!), which have helped me develop my muses a lot!! she’s also an incredible writer and artist, highly recommend checking out her blog!! <3

is there any fandom you regret exploring?

ah i don’t really engage in fandoms too much aside from admiring art for them that pops up on the dash, so i can’t say there’s any fandom i regret exploring!

do you plot a ship or see where it goes?

i enjoy seeing how relationships develop naturally, but if there’s chemistry, i also love chatting about it with the other mun to see what ideas we each have for where the relationship might go! this applies to romantic ships, platonic, enemies, etc.

what are the trends when it comes to writing that you adore?

!! i am… so out of the loop on stuff like ‘trends’ that i don’t rlly know how to answer this aaaa,,, i guess i like the trend of people realizing that roleplaying isn’t a job and that they can give themselves as many breaks as they need and post whatever makes them happy?? making sure the hobby stays enjoyable and doesn’t become stressful!! health comes first!! also deeply appreciate people who are patient and understanding,,, bc i myself am So Slow aaaa

rp blogs that have,,, zero (0) tags at all,,, especially on multimuse blogs aaaa like i rlly do support people doing whatever is easiest for them but how do u navigate?? how do u find things again?? crying

I love TAOCC so much!

It is 5-6 in the morning, and I'm feeling emotional and affectionate. So I'm gonna ramble about how much I appreciate people. Apologies if you don't want to be tagged in this or if I'm not making any sense because I'm sleepy.

@silhouette-anon Soup, thank you so much for running the Gangle blog, if it wasn't for you, I would never have found this silly little RP community. I was so scared to interact for so long, I lurked and only sent a couple of unsigned anon asks, but the way you interacted with your regular anons gave me the confidence to also try and become a regular. You were just so kind to everyone, and it was wonderful to see. Love your art, love your RP, love how you make me smile in one moment and then make me cry in the next.

@sh4tt3rg1rl Basil, Soup may have been how I found TAOCC, but you are the reason I wanted to get involved with actually RPing in it. I don't remember how I stumbled on Mix's blog, but he was the first non-canon character in the group that I followed. I just loved his story, his design, the way you RPed, everything. Again I was too scared to actually approach you, instead I watched for a few weeks without making a single RP post. And even when I did start RPing, I was still a little intimidated by how amazing your writing was, so even though I still followed your blogs, it took me way too long to finally ask if I could interact with one of your characters. And of course your art blows me away all the time!

@the-moth-from-elsewhere Elsie, you were the first person in TAOCC I actually RPed with, though I never intended that. But I was so intrigued by Aoki's interaction with Mix, he seemed like such an interesting character, and I was blown away with how you RPed him. I wanted to follow that OC, but I didn't know what his blog was. I just knew yours. When I asked you if you had a list of OC blogs, you not only gave them to me, but pointed me in the direction of Dusk as a nice OC for me to introduce Grif to. In a rare burst of confidence, I sent an actual RP ask. I haven't looked back since. Your art style is so adorable, and you kinda scare me with how many characters you have, but I'm impressed by all the thought you put into TAOCC and I could listen/read your rambles for hours!

@shot-of-hopes-and-dreams Hope, I've already told you before how much I appreciate you for being the first person to send a character ask to Grif completely out of the blue. But I don't think I ever told you that you were also the first person I DMed to ask about joining a plot. DMs always scare me, I think because of how private they are, and it took me a good few days to work up the courage to send the message, but I'm so glad I did! Every time I get a message, or ask, or @ from you, I get excited, and sometimes a little nervous, you do love being evil after all! You surprise me a lot, keep me on my toes and really make me think when we RP together, and it's a ton of fun! I do love your sketchy art style too, and in my opinion it doesn't get nearly enough attention.

Star, Feiar, and everyone else that I've talked to outside of RPing (including the people I singled out above), thank you for all being so sweet and kind and welcoming. I really do struggle with social stuff especially voice calls, I always feel a little awkward by how I'm mostly non-verbal, and I often avoid calls because of it, but just you guys being so understanding has really helped me get over that fear!

And for everyone in TAOCC whether I've talked to you before or not, thank you for being such awesome creative people, you've given me so much joy over these past few months, I am so glad I found this community! Whether it's the writing, the art, the silly little memes, all of it makes me so happy (or breaks my heart in a good way when you decide to be angsty). All of you, never change, keep being such wonderful, amazing people!
