How many seriously harmed children or murdered children did they want Leon to have to find/deal with/try and resuscitate over his actually rather quite short (about 70 eps) tenure?
Poor darling, especially after the tragic death of his girlfriend (that Leon being Leon, he got called to the scene of!)
"What's that caller? You've a traumatic and haunting thing happening where a young child/vulnerable teen has been hurt and could die/requires CPR/is crying out for help?? It's ok, we'll send our most sensitive, brooding officer who has already dealt with 5 of these sorts of cases this week to your house."

HOCKEY, m.s
summary: coming home with matt from a hockey game :)
warning: slight angst, swearing.
this is not proof read.
your lungs were sore from cheering for matt in hockey, which was atleast for two hours. you loved watching his games, cheering him on with signs and a smile on your face. he always said seeing you in the stands of the arena helped him focus and win, which constantly made you smile everytime he reminded you, that beautiful smile.
you sit on the edge of your seat in anticipation, this was it. win or lose. it was a 50/50 chance. matt could either leave the arena happy and proud, or beat and upset. you wanted nothing more than to see him happy.
anxiously you bite your nails, looking at the game. matt skated across the field, so far so good. after a few more seconds of anticipation, he scored. loud cheers from the crowd were head. the first thing he did was look at you.
seeing the sparkle in his eyes was the joy of your day, no matter what had been happening today, seeing the sparkle in his eyes immediately drained any negitive thought from your head.
as everyone leaves the stands, including you, you wait beside the door where the hockey players get off the ice. you see matt, he always jumping up and down cheering.
“you did so good, baby. m’ so proud of you.” you say once he stops infront of you. you cup his cheek, leaning upwards and placing a kiss on his lips. “only cause you were here.” he replied with a smile, returning the favour.
once you both pull away, he places his hands on either side of your upper arms. he notices how cold you seemed. “you cold?” he asks gently, waiting for a response. you nod, running your own hands up and down your arms to attempt to warm yourself up.
“wait here, baby.” he said with a smile, going to grab his favourite hoodie. once he comes back, the hoodie in his hands, you smile. “isn’t this your favourite one? i dont want to ruin it.” you say, a slight sadness to your favourite. “my favourite clothing item for my favourite girl.” he replies, trying to cheer you up, which indeed worked.
as a form of pink blush began to linger on your cheeks, he spoke. “i love you, y’know? s’ much. since i first laid eyes on you.” his eyes trained on yours, waiting for your replly. he had been waiting for you to say you love him.
a look of shock washed over your slightly red face. “i- um.. wow.” you spoke, chuckling nervously. “that’s really.. sweet? i dont really know how to respond to that. nothing i could say would top that.” you say nervously, looking up at him.
you play with the hoodie in your hands before putting it on, getting a tiny break from the heartbroken tension you felt between the two of you.
“can you say it?” he asks, looking down at you with a slight frown. not one of those pouty ones, an actual devestated look on his face. when the response is silence, he continues. “pretty please with a cherry on top?” he replies, offering a short smile.
hesitantly, you open your mouth to speak. “i— um, i love you. i really do- it’s just hard to put into words how much i appreciate and love you.” you say, your heartbeat increasing.
he smiled, rubbing your shoulder before looking over at his hockey teamates who were entertaining the changing rooms. “i gotta go change, but then ill be back to drive you home.” he says, pressing a kiss to your forehead.
“i can w-” he interrupts you, “no, baby. not at this hour. just stay the night at mine. my moms making pasta with your favourite sauce.” he replies.
he didn’t really leave you any room to speak, so you nodded. he then walked into the change rooms to remove his dirty, sweaty hockey gear.
you sit down at a bench near the exit, waiting for matt to come back. once he does, his hair is wet, his chest clung to the white tank top he was wearing, his jeans unbuttoned and his fly not done up, he must’ve been in a rush.
he helped you up, putting a hand on your lower back. “let’s go, yeah?” he nodded, grabbing his bag and swinging it over his shoulder. he walked beside you out of the arena and towards his car.
“can you unlock the car f’ me?” he asks gently, removing his hand from your waist. you nod, grabbing his keys from the belt of his jeans. you unlock his car with a click.
he placed his hockey gear in the trunk of the car after gesturing for you to get comfortable in the front seat. his brothers were off doing something, but knew when to come back if they wanted a ride.
you get comfortable in the front seat, preparing yourself for the argument with chris about the front seat. once he went as far as lifting you out of the car just to get front seat.
you lock the passenger side door, taking a few deep breaths. you put on your seatbelt and wait for matt. first, nick enters the vehicle. he sat down in the back on the right side. “hey, you okay?” he asks, noticing the display of worry on your face.
you nod, smiling to vanish his concerns. “just scared of how chris will react.” you chuckle nervously. once you finish your sentence, matt enters the from the drivers side, settling into his seat. he turns on the car, twisting his keys. “where’s chris?” matt asks, looking through the mirror.
“he said he had to pee—” nick pauses his sentence, his jaw dropping. “is he seriously filming a tiktok right now?” he continued. matt looked outside your window, seeing chris doing a certain dance to an audio.
“this shit is too funny.” matt pulls out his phone, recording his brother. the moment didnt last long, a few seconds later chris got into the backseat, a frown on his face. “why does she get special front seat privledges?” chris asks, gesturing to you.
matt groans, beginning to drive. “she’s the girlfriend. plus she isn’t always in the car. you get privledges too, chris.” matt spoke, running a hand through his brunette locks.
you stay silent, listening to the conversation. “she doesn’t even connect to the aux, matt. fucking look at her. she just sits there acting like miss innocent like she doesn’t enjoy getting her back blown out by you.” chris spoke, pointing at you with a frustrated glare.
immediately a frown forms upon your face, you hated when people talked about sex around you, it brought back trauma. matt notices, and begins to snap back to chris. “just shut your mouth, chris. we havent ever done anything like that.” matt spoke, his voice harsh.
once everything dies down in the car and falls silent, matt pulls into the driveway. without a second thought, nick and chris immediately exit the car, leaving the two of you alone.
“im sorry, baby.” he says, glancing at you with a soft look. you nod, sighing. “it’s okay, i understand why he would be upset.” you say, unlocking the car door and getting out. “he doesn’t mean what he said. he loves you, your like a sister to him.” matt says, locking the car doors. he goes to your side and walks to the front door with you.
once the door opens your immediately met with the comforting smell of pasta. both nick and chris had disappeared to their rooms, probably worn out. matt guides you to the kitchen, greeting his mom with a smile and telling her all about his day.
you love how open he is with his mother, it’s adorable to you. “food should be done in half an hour, showers free to if you need one.” marylou spoke, stirring the pot.
matt nods before taking you upstairs to his room. once inside, he closes the door and goes to his dresser. you sit on his bed, getting comfortable. his house was basically your second home.
he passes you a pair of his grey sweats and a tank top. “this good?” he asks, gesturing to the clothes he gave you to wear. “matt— i might need a bra if im going to wear this top.” you spoke.
the word ‘bra’ or any other girly word didnt faze him anymore, nor make him excited. he was used to it. “yeah, baby. i have one of your bra’s from last time.” matt replies, grabbing the bra from his dresser and tossing it to you.
by the time both you got changed, it was time for dinner. you both of you head down to the dining table and begin to eat, hands interlocked beneath the table.

Shrimpy Chronicles: Ama and the Sun
Octopolycue x Shrimpmer!Reader (Main: Azul x Reader)
Synposis:
"Ama, they liked the sun. They liked the sun and warmth and all things light. And the days that Ama would go to visit their friends on the surface, they would stay up just for a bit longer. Coral would stay in their arms, as her fathers and sister dove back down in the water, back in the darkness, and watch Ama close their eyes and feel the sun on their skin. She thinks she understands a bit. The sun, big and bright, hurts her eyes. But the rays feel like kisses on her skin, warm and comforting. Afterwards, her Ama would always hold her close and dive back down. Her Ama was always sad after being in the sun." or Your daughter notices that you yearn for the sun and the surface more than her other parents do, and learns why.
Takes place after "Mating Season", different timeline from "The Delights of being a 'Zuzu'". Neither are necessarily needed to understand the story, but are helpful for some context.
[wc} - 1,818
[cw/tags] - gn!reader, reader is referred to Ama but has they/them pronouns, mild angst, has a happy ending, in daughter's p.o.v., Jade and Floyd mentioned but not seen in story (implied poly!octotrio x reader), Azul is referred to Baba/Zuzu, reader comes from a happy family in their world, i also didn't edit lol
[notes] - I wanted to write something very simple for coming off my hiatus! I have a lot of strong thoughts about preserving something like my culture and language. I imagine that for a Yuu with a strong family bond, having to accept that they can't go home and lose not only their family, but their culture and language, is quite devestating. For people in our world that have to leave their homes to go somewhere else, sometimes they forget bits of that and want to make sure that their kids know and love where they come from out of desperation to maintain that connection. I wanted to write a little something about that, hope yall like it!
Written while listening to "Shelter" by Porter Robinson and Madeon, I recommend listening to it while reading :)
There was something about the warmth of the sun that Coral was drawn to. She wasn’t sure why, her sister, Pearl, didn’t have the same inclination, nor did her fathers. Her Baba Zuzu might’ve been an exception, but he also was perfectly fine to stay in the dark, cold depths of their home.
But Coral was like her Ama. They shared a lot of similar traits, like their shrimp merforms and the color of their skin. The strand along her bangs even matched the color of Ama’s hair, pretty stark against the rest of Coral’s teal hair. Though, her twin Pearl also had the same strand, just on her opposite side.
But still, Coral was Ama’s baby girl. Coral never said it to anyone other than Pearl, but Ama was her favorite parent. And Ama?
Ama, they liked the sun. They liked the sun and warmth and all things light. Sometimes, when Ama thought no one was looking, they would gaze out the window and stare at the sunlight filtering through the water, making green and blue streaks glitter during the day.
And the days that Ama would go to visit their friends on the surface, they would stay up just for a bit longer. Coral would stay in their arms, as her papas and sister dove back down in the water, back in the darkness, and watch Ama close their eyes and feel the sun on their skin.
Coral tried to copy them once. She thinks she understands a bit. The sun, big and bright, hurts her eyes. But the rays feel like kisses on her skin, warm and comforting.
Afterwards, her Ama would always hold her close and dive back down. But Coral could see the wet look in their eyes. Her Ama was always sad after being in the sun.
Coral did her best to make sure they’d never be alone, always going with them to the surface. It was a bonus for Coral too, she got to see her Grandpa Divus and his doggies. Most of the time, though, it was her Goddads Ace and Deuce. They were okay too.
This time, her Ama and Zuzu were up on the surface to warm up a bit before diving back down after visiting Grandpa Divus. Though, Zuzu still stayed mostly in the water. He rested his arms and chin on the rock while Ama was laying on their back, arms spread and eyes closed as they basked in the sun.
Coral had taken to hanging on one of Zuzu’s tentacles picking at the skin with her shrimp legs, trying to mimic Ama when they were cleaning her Papa and Dada, though she was starting to fall asleep.
The warm sun always made her sleepy, and Zuzu’s scratching at her scalp wasn’t helping along with his tentacle rocking her back and forth. But the low voice of Zuzu speaking to Ama caught her attention.
“You’re going to dry out if you stay too long up here.” He was whispering, like he didn’t want to wake Coral up. So she kept her eyes closed and listened, her earfins wiggling a bit.
“Mmh.” Ama hummed in response. “It’s fine, just for a bit.”
“A bit has been for almost 30 minutes.” Zuzu sighed, harsher this time. “Please, my dear, come back in the water. Coral’s fallen asleep, we should take her back home.”
“Just a bit longer Azul…please…” Ama sounded sad, the way they sighed. Coral could make out the sound of movement. Maybe Ama turned on their stomach?
“I just need this, okay? The sun and the air.” Coral peaked an eye open up at Ama and Zuzu. She could see that Ama was indeed on their stomach, facing Zuzu as they kept speaking.
“Didn’t you used to miss the sea when you were at NRC all year? The cool water, the darkness? Floyd would talk about getting homesick, wouldn’t you?”
Zuzu sighed again, holding his cheek in his hand.
“Sometimes, yes. As much as I didn’t like my natural form then, I missed having ten limbs. Losing 6 of them was a shock. Couldn’t do quite as much as I usually could.”
Ama blinked sleepily as they yawned, the sun was lulling them to sleep too. Coral really took after them.
“I just miss my home.”
Zuzu was silent, the swaying of his tentacles in the water stopping, and the one rocking Coral slowing down.
“… Your home is under the sea. You remember that, right?”
“…”
“Angelfish?”
Ama sniffled, their eyes watering as they looked to the side, staring at the shoreline nearby.
“I know! I know it is, it’s just…”
Tears began flowing from their eyes, their lips quivering as they continued.
“It’s not that I’m not happy with you all, I am. I really am, I just—” They took a shuddering breath, rubbing the tears from their eyes. “—I had another family before. Parents, siblings, friends, that I will never see again. That my girls will never meet!”
Holding their face in their hands, Ama began tearfully rambling, making Coral’s heart feel funny.
“I had a whole culture, a language, that I can barely remember now. I love my life here, but the longer I’m here, the more I feel like I’m losing a part of myself. Can you imagine that, Azul? Can you imagine remembering the touch of your mother’s hand on your cheek, but her face faded from your mind? She will never get to meet her, you, Jade, or Floyd. She will never meet her granddaughters. She will never know that I’m safe and happy and loved.”
Ama was crying now, hiccuping as Zuzu reached up to cradle their face, pressing his forehead again theirs. He was wiping their tears away, cooing at them like he would when Coral or Pearl had a nightmare.
“And you are so loved, my dear. I can’t begin to imagine how you feel, but know that when the twins and I gave our word to care for you, we meant it.” Zuzu pressed a soft kiss against their lips, giving them a small smile. “We never go back on our word, especially where you are involved.”
Sighing, Ama nodded, holding Zuzu’s hand against them as they kissed his palm.
“I know, I just hope that somehow, my family knows that. That I’m loved, and safe. And trying to keep their part of me alive.”
Zuzu chuckled softly, one of his tentacles scooping up some water to pour over Ama’s drying tail.
“Is that why you’ve been teaching them phrases in your language? Pearl was shouting something at Floyd a few days ago after he took the jellyfish she was trying to teeth on. Did you teach her curse words?”
Ama snorted, smiling at him as they reached down to splash some water onto their face, speaking a phrase in the foreign tongue that Ama spoke to them sometimes.
“No, nothing remotely like that. It means ‘I love you’ in my language. I just told her it’s a bad word, and to never say it. I figured she’d try cussing one of the twins out eventually, so I told her how to say ‘i love you’ instead.”
Zuzu tilted his head as he repeated the words, though he sounded off. Ama giggled at him, shaking their head.
“No, you gotta click your tongue! Like this.” Ama repeated it, their voice taking on a different tone and accent as they did.
Zuzu repeated it back, sounding closer to Ama’s accent, though they still giggled at him.
“I’m trying! Don’t laugh!” Zuzu huffed, though Coral could make out the tips of his mouth curl up into a smile. “Say it again, say I love you in your tongue.”
Ama smiled, their skin flushing as they repeated the words.
“Hmm, again.” Zuzu purred, smiling at the shy smile on Ama’s face. They repeated it again. And again as Zuzu kept demanding them to say it again and again, while Ama kept giggling and repeating it back.
Coral cringed at the display, feeling embarrassed as they shared a long kiss.
“Ew…Ah!”
Coral yelped as the tentacle that had been cradling her suddenly tightened around her waist and lifted her upside down. Squealing at the sudden change, Coral giggled as Zuzu brought her between them, he looked annoyed as Ama was smiling.
“I thought you were asleep, were you pretending, you little sneak?” Zuzu clicked his tongue, though based on his smirk, he was more amused than anything.
“Hehe, noooo~” Coral giggled as she was lowered down into Ama’s arms, who cradled her against their chest and fluttered kisses against their cheeks. “Ah! Ama! That tickles!”
Coral squirmed against their grasp, finally wiggling up as their little legs grabbed onto Ama’s arms to hold herself straight.
Trying to straighten her face, Coral grabbed Ama’s cheeks with her little hands and, very seriously in her opinion, asked, “Is Ama okay? You were crying about home, do you not like being in the ocean?”
Ama frowned, shaking their head as they gave Coral a smile and bumped their forehead against hers.
“No, baby, Ama loves being in the ocean. They just miss being a human with their family.”
“Ama was a human?! No way!” Coral gasped, eyes going wide. “I thought that was just for school!”
Coral frowned as she thought back to Ama’s earlier words.
“Do we have more family far away? In the land? Is that why Ama is so sad?” Coral asked, watching as Ama’s face turned sad, but quickly back to a small smile.
“Yes, baby, but it’s more complicated than that.” Ama lifted Coral into their arms, sliding down into Zuzu’s arms and tentacles as he lowered them back down into the water. “I’ll tell you more about it when you’re older, okay?”
“Besides,” Zuzu piped up, pressing a kiss into Coral’s forehead. “You’re still due for a nap, Coral, you can wait later.”
Coral pouted, mumbling complaints to herself as they all dove back into the water.
“But I wanna know noooow…it’s not fair! I’m not—” Coral yawned mid-sentence. “—mmh. Ima not tired…”
One of Zuzu’s tentacles reached over to brush her hair as Ama cradled her closer to their chest, Coral curling against them despite herself.
“Shush, go to sleep, baby.” Ama cooed as they slowly made their way back home. “I’ll be here when you wake up, and you can ask whatever you want, okay? Sleep my baby.”
Coral blinked sleepily, eyes wandering as she made out the outline of her Ama’s face as they brushed a finger against her cheek.
Coral thinks she understood what her Ama was saying. She loved Ama’s hands on her cheek. She loved her Ama’s face. She never wanted to forget her Ama’s face.
Her final thought, before finally falling asleep to the image of Ama’s smiling face, was how warm her Ama made her feel. Like her own personal sun.

Valaena scrambled to gather the sheets around herself, her face flushed with embarrassment. “Didn’t anyone teach you to knock?” she sputtered; her voice thick with embarrassment.
Aemond howver lay there comfortably, a sly smirk pulling at his lips as he took in Jace and Luke’s mortified expressions.
Both young men quickly raised their hands to shield their faces, horror and embarrassment plain in their eyes.
Jace stammered, “We’re sorry, we didn’t expect—”
Aemond scoffed, his smirk growing wider. “Well, we do share chambers, nephew. What else would you expect us to be doing?” He raised an eyebrow, amusement in his voice. “Surely you have your own wife, so you know what goes on-or at least, I hope you do.”
Jace’s cheeks flushed even redder as he stuttered, “Th-that’s none of your business!”
Valaena lifted a hand, cutting through the rising tension. “Can we have this conversation at a more appropriate time, please? Preferably not while I’m naked and still seated upon my husbands-”
“-What?” asked Aemond feigning innocence.
“Are you seriously getting hard again?” whispered Valaena as she felt Aemond’s cock twitching and throbbing inside of her.
“I-I can’t help it” replied Aemond as he shifted slightly.
Valaena bit her lip to stifle the moan that threatened to spill forth as she felt Aemonds cock brushing against that sensitive spot inside her.
“My love. What’s wrong?” said Aemond smirking.
Valaena shot him a look, still holding the sheets tightly to her chest. “Please, can you two just- leave,” she managed to say, barely keeping her voice steady.
Jace and Luke backed out of the room in a flurry of mumbled apologies, their faces beet red as they hurried to close the door behind them.
As the door clicked shut, Aemond wasted no time. He sat up swiftly, his hands finding their way to Valaena’s back, pulling her close as he captured her lips in a fierce, unrestrained kiss.
Valaena resisted for a moment but then melted against him, her hands tangling in his silver hair as she kissed him back with equal fervour, all traces of embarrassment and distraction fading away.
Aemond’s gaze darkened with intent as he murmured, “Mine,” his voice low and reverberating, almost like a vow.
Gently but decisively, he manoeuvred Valaena onto her back, until she was lying beneath him.
He moved with practiced ease, resting his weight on one arm so he could look down at her, his silver hair falling like a curtain around his face, framing the intensity in his eye.
Valaena gave him a teasing smile, her hand sliding up his arm as she whispered, “Again?” Her words were playful, yet the glimmer in her eyes mirrored his desire.
“Need to fuck you like this-” mumbled Aemond as he curled his fingers round her thigh and moved her leg around his waist.
Then he bit her over her pulse point. Hard. She cried out and Aemond rumbled in approval at how loud she screamed for him.
“Such a good fucking girl.” His tongue licked where he had just bitten down. “You always make the sweetest sounds for me-”
Aemond loved biting her, he always had.
“Oooohh Aemond” whined Valaena.
“That’s my girl-” as he rocked his own hips into her, making them both hiss. “So, fucking good-all mine”
“I need more” whimpered Valaena.
As his pace picked up, she gripped his shoulders for dear life and moved with him, never taking her eyes from his singular gaze.
“Keep going,” She panted against him. “Just like that-just like that”
“You like that?”
“Yes-yes Aemond” replied Valaena.
“I fucking love you-” moaned Aemond, every thrust of his hips was forcing her further towards the headboard.
“Aemond-Oh, Gods!”
“Gonna spill my seed!-“ He rotated his hips as he spoke, his sweaty forehead against hers.
Valaena scrawled her nails down Aemond’s back hard enough to leave marks making him growl in approval and fuck her harder into the mattress, the headboard banging loudly against the wall.
“Mark me fucking harder” ordered Aemond as Valaena scored her nails down his back again.
“A-Aemond”
“So, fucking good for me-Oh, shit-yes-” moaned Aemond, his hips crashing into hers, babbling to himself and hitting all the right spots for her.
“Aemond I’m close-please-please” begged Valaena. She was so close, just a little more and she would be there.
“If you wasn’t with child already I’d put another babe on you” said Aemond against her lips as his thrusts started to become erratic.
“Aemond, yes-yes” screamed Valaena as her peak exploded.
“FUCK!” roared Aemond, the heat spreading across his abdomen as he exploded, spilling rope after rope of seed inside her.
“Oh shit – Aemond!” shouted Valaena as she clutched Aemond’s shoulders to ride the waves of pleasure that coursed through her body.
Aemond collapsed on top of her, and Valaena hugged his body tight.
“You are mine. Do you hear that?” whispered Aemond against her into her ear. “Everything about you.”
“Yours Aemond. Always yours”
Valaena found her brothers in the library, and they both immediately shot to their feet as she entered.
Luke’s face turned scarlet as he noticed the bite mark on her neck, and he quickly looked away.
“Did you really have to barge into my chambers like that?” Valaena asked.
Jace looked sheepish. “I’m sorry, but when mother sent a raven to Driftmark saying you were alive, we had to see it for ourselves. We couldn’t believe it.”
Valaena arched an eyebrow, a note of surprise in her voice. “Driftmark? What were you doing there?”
Jace looked away before responding. “I reside there now, as it’s heir. Luke didn’t want to stay in the Red Keep, so he’s there too, with Rhaena and their daughter-”
Valaena tilted her head, a new realization dawning on her. “Wait-you’re still the heir to Driftmark? I thought Mother would have named you heir to the Iron Throne”
Jace shook his head. “No. Even after even when we thought you were gone, Mother never named a new heir.”
Valaena’s eyes widened in shock. “Almost six years without officially naming a new heir?”
“Yes, the council kept pressuring her to name a new heir” Luke spoke up, glancing at his sister. “But she’s steadfastly refused.”
Valaena’s brow furrowed in confusion. “But Jace. You’re next in line. It should be you.”
Jace held up a hand. “I don’t want it. I’m content with my life on Driftmark with Baela and Laena”
Luke gave a small shrug. “Don’t look at me—I don’t want it either, you know what I’m like, if I board a ship I get green sick before I’ve even left the harbour”
Valaena looked between them, taken aback. “I honestly thought she would name someone else”
Jace’s expression softened as he looked at her. “She couldn’t bring herself to name a new heir because that would have meant that you were truly gone-even though we had a funeral for you, sometimes she liked to imagine that you were still out there somewhere”
Valaena stared at him, processing his words. “What?”
“She kept you alive in her heart,” Jace continued.
A deep pang of guilt mixed with a strange sense of wonder filled Valaena. “She refused to give up on me-”
Luke nodded, his voice barely a whisper. “Not for a single moment.”
“Most people thought she was crazy,” Jace admitted, his voice low. “The council, the lords of the realm, they all thought she had lost her mind, holding onto this belief that you were still out there somewhere. They called it denial, a womans weakness. They said she was clinging to a dream that would never come true.”
Luke shifted uncomfortably, his hands folding tightly in his lap. “They tried to pressure her into naming a new heir, telling her it was reckless to leave the realm without one. They said that the throne needed a clear successor”
Jace continued, his gaze firm. “But our mother? She refused to be swayed. She couldn’t bring herself to replace you. She couldn’t let go of the idea that one day, you’d return.”
“I bet you thought she’d lost it when you received the raven” said Valaena.
Luke nodded vigorously. “At first, we thought it couldn’t be true.”
“So, you come over here and barge into my chambers” muttered Valaena.
“We had to know if you really was alive” exclaimed Jace.
Valaena crossed her arms, a smirk on her lips. “Well, you certainly could’ve picked a better moment for a reunion.”
Jace laughed, breaking some of the tension. “I’ve really missed you, sister.”
Luke’s face softened, his voice dropping. “We thought we’d lost you forever.”
Valaena sighed, her expression warming as she opened her arms. “Come here-”
Both Jace and Luke moved toward her eagerly, enveloping her in a tight embrace. They stood there, tangled in one another’s arms, a bond reaffirmed.
Luke’s voice was a hushed whisper, filled with awe. “You’re here. You’re really here.”
Valaena smiled, squeezing them tightly. “Yes, I’m here.”
As they pulled back slightly, Jace’s eyes dropped to her stomach, widening as he noticed her rounded belly. “And you’re with child?”
Valaena smiled softly as she stepped back from them, resting a hand on her stomach. “My fourth.”
Luke gasped. “Your fourth?”
Jace grinned. “Gone nearly six years, and already four children? I suppose we know what you and our dear uncle were getting up to when everyone thought you were dead.”
Valaena scowled playfully. “Jacaerys!”
He held up his hands in surrender, laughing. “What?”
Luke, gentler, leaned in. “Tell us about your other children.”
Valaena’s expression softened as she began to describe them. “My oldest is my son, Rhaegar, then I have two daughters—Elaena and Daenys.”
Luke’s eyes lit up. “A nephew and two nieces?”
Valaena nodded with a smile. “Come with me,” she said, leading them out of the library and through the corridors toward Maegor’s Holdfast.
They stopped outside a door where Valaena pressed a finger to her lips, signalling them to be quiet.
Slowly, she opened it, revealing the soft moonlight casting a gentle glow over her sleeping son. “That’s Rhaegar,” she whispered.
Jace and Luke leaned in, their faces melting into smiles as they observed the small silver-haired boy.
Sapphyre, curled protectively beside him, briefly raised his head to curiously eye the newcomers, before he huffed and then settled back down.
“He has a dragon?” Jace whispered, impressed.
Valaena nodded. “He’s called Sapphyre.”
Luke noted, “He’s quite big for a hatchling.”
Valaena just smiled, then quietly closed the door and led them to the next room. Opening it with the same care, she gestured for them to look inside.
“This is Elaena,” she murmured, and then pointed to the cradle. “And here is Daenys.”
“Oh, gods she’s so beautiful” gasped Luke quietly as he gazed at Elaena who was fast asleep with her blankey firmly in her grasp.
Jace’s gaze softened as he noticed the dark hair of Daenys. “She has your colouring.”
“One of them had to take after me,” Valaena chuckled softly.
“They’re both so wonderful, sister,” Luke said, sincerity evident in his eyes.
“Thank you,” Valaena replied with a warm smile.
Jace’s attention shifted to the small dragons resting near the children. “And they have dragons too?”
Valaena nodded proudly. “Hūra belongs to Elaena, and Valerion to Daenys.”
Luke murmured, “The blood of the dragon runs thick.”
“Indeed, it does,” Valaena agreed, gently ushering her brothers out and closing the door softly behind her.
Jace yawned, stretching. “It’s getting late. Perhaps we should retire for the night and catch up more in the morning.”
Valaena raised an eyebrow. “Good idea. Just remember to knock next time before barging into my chambers.”
Luke let out an embarrassed laugh. “Oh, believe me, I’ll be knocking.”
Aemond stood on the balcony, his gaze fixed on Valaena as she wandered through the gardens with her brothers, Jace and Luke, laughing and talking eagerly.
A flicker of something dark passed over his face as he watched them. Arro approached from behind and paused beside him, observing quietly before breaking the silence.
“Why don’t you join them, my prince?”
Aemond’s eyes remained on Valaena as he replied, his tone edged with disdain. “I have no desire to talk to either of her bastard brothers.”
Arro tilted his head. “You don’t get along with them?”
“No,” Aemond said shortly. “I never really have.”
“Why is that?” Arro asked, genuinely curious.
Aemond’s gaze grew colder. “They used to tease me as a child, constantly making jokes at my expense.” He nodded toward the smaller of the two, who was gesturing animatedly as he spoke to Valaena. “The one talking to her now—Lucerys. He’s the one who carved out my eye.”
Arro’s eyes narrowed. “And he still breathes?”
Aemond let out a humourless laugh. “Not only does he breathe, but he also walked away without punishment.”
Arro’s brow furrowed. “How did it happen?”
Aemond leaned against the railing, his gaze lost in the memory. “It was just after I claimed Vhagar. I felt untouchable, dragon less no longer, I’d managed to claim the largest dragon in the world. Then they set upon me”.
Arro’s eyes darkened as he listened. Aemond’s voice grew colder. “Jace brought the knife, but I managed to disarm him. Then Lucerys picked it up and took my eye.”
Arro looked shocked. “And yet he went unpunished?”
Aemond’s mouth twisted bitterly. “Their mother, Rhaenyra, was my father’s favourite child. He cared more about the insult his grandsons received than about his own son’s suffering. He demanded we apologize—and show good will to one another”
Arro scoffed. “A fool’s notion.”
Aemond let out a low chuckle, his grip tightening on the railing. “So many times, I’ve imagined what it would feel like to take my dagger and hold that little strong bastard down and take his eye as he did mine.”
Arro considered him, impressed. “How do you restrain yourself from doing it?”
Aemond’s expression softened slightly as he looked back at his wife. “Valaena. Only because of my love for her, does her brother still have both of his eyes.”
Arro shook his head, admiring. “You’re a better man than me, my prince. In your place, I’d have carved both his eyes out by now.”
Aemond huffed a laugh, his gaze still following Valaena. “Don’t tempt me.”
Arro studied him a moment, then asked thoughtfully, “And what does Princess Valaena think about it?”
“She hates what Lucerys did to me. But he’s still her brother,” Aemond replied, sighing.
Arro nodded. “She has a big heart, but sometimes family can be the ones who hurt us the most.”
Aemond glanced at him, noting the bitterness in Arro’s tone. “You speak as if you have experience in such matters.”
Arro’s jaw tightened as he nodded. “My father was a very cruel man. He’d often hurt my mother, sometimes to the point she couldn’t bear it anymore and eventually, she took her own life.”
Aemond placed a hand on Arro’s shoulder, a gesture of sympathy. “I’m sorry, Arro.”
Arro nodded, his expression softening as he looked down. “I may not have been able to protect her then, but when I became a man, I gave her vengeance.”
Aemond’s hand tightened on Arro’s shoulder, a hint of respect in his gaze. “What was her name?”
A faint smile touched Arro’s lips. “Sura.”
Aemond nodded solemnly. “A beautiful name.”
“Thank you, my prince” Arro replied, gratitude evident in his eyes.
They stood in silence, side by side, bound by unspoken understanding and the weight of scars—old and new.
Months after Valaena and Aemond had returned and begun reestablishing themselves within the family, Rhaenyra announced plans for a grand celebration to be held at the Red Keep.
Not only would it honour their return, but it would also publicly reaffirm Valaena as heir to the Iron Throne and name Rhaegar as her successor.
Preparations for the festivities brought excitement to many—and tension to others.
As the strain finally boiled over one afternoon when Luke proposed a potential betrothal between his eldest daughter, Rhaella, and Rhaegar. Aemond's response was immediate and absolute.
“No,” he said flatly, his tone icy.
Luke raised an eyebrow. “What reason could you have to refuse my daughter? She has Targaryen and Velaryon blood-”
Aemond crossed his arms, glaring. “Because I do not wish to have my son tied to anyone from your line.”
Luke's face flushed with anger. “You mean to say my blood isn’t worthy? How dare you insult my daughter—”
Aemond took a step forward, his eye flashing with contempt. “If you think I’ll allow my son to marry the daughter of the whelp who left me scarred, then you are delusional.”
Harsh words were exchanged as the resentment came rushing to the surface. Insults turned quickly to raised voices, and before anyone could intervene, Aemond and Luke were upon each other, fists flying.
Aemond’s strength and focus quickly overwhelmed Luke, and he delivered a hard blow to his nose, causing it to break with a sickening crunch.
Guards and family rushed in to separate the two, pulling Aemond back as Luke, blood streaming from his nose, shot him a furious look.
Rhaenyra, who had arrived on the scene, looked between them with a mixture of anger and disappointment.
Valaena stepped forward, trying to ease the tension. “Perhaps we should wait until Rhaegar is older before we start discussing any potential matches. There’s no need to rush, and he should have a say in his future.”
The Queen nodded, calming at her daughter’s suggestion. “Very well,” Rhaenyra said, a hint of firmness still in her voice. “The matter of Rhaegar’s future bride will be left to another time. But as for the two of you,” she added, looking sternly between Aemond and Luke, “you will keep your distance from each other.”
Though both men gave a begrudging nod, they exchanged one last heated glance.
The throne room was alive with a rare grandeur, bustling with lords and ladies from every corner of the Seven Kingdoms, all gathered in honour of Valaena’s return and to reaffirm her as Rhaenyra’s heir.
Valaena stood proudly beside her mother, her expression serene as she clutched Rhaegar’s small hand.
Her son’s eyes, bright and curious, wandered over the crowd, while Aemond’s cool gaze swept protectively over his family.
Rhaenyra raised her hands, and the throne room hushed as she began to speak, her voice resounding with both pride and authority.
“Today, we celebrate the return of my daughter, Princess Valaena, and her husband Prince Aemond to our House. Let it be known to all that Princess Valaena is the rightful heir to the Iron Throne, and that her son, Prince Rhaegar, will one day wear the crown as King.”
The crowd erupted into cheers, banners lifted high as people bowed and bent their knees, showing loyalty to their Queen and her line.
Valaena glanced down at Rhaegar, who clutched her hand tighter, wide-eyed and thrilled by the sea of people honouring him.
But as the ceremony continued, Valaena felt a dull ache stirring low in her stomach, a sensation she’d initially dismissed as nerves.
Yet it grew with each passing moment, blossoming into something sharper and more insistent.
She winced, pressing a hand lightly against her belly, and Aemond’s gaze flicked toward her with concern, his sharp eye catching the hint of discomfort. He stepped closer, murmuring softly, “Are you well, Valaena?”
“Yes,” she said, though her voice was tight. “I’m fine.”
But as Rhaenyra continued, Valaena fought to keep her expression calm, her fingers clenching around Rhaegar’s hand as the ache became sharper, radiating from her lower back in waves.
Finally, Rhaenyra turned to her, her eyes bright with pride, beckoning her to step forward.
With a deep breath, Valaena nodded and released Rhaegar’s hand, stepping forward to accept her mother’s blessing as heir before all the realm.
She took one steadying breath, standing straight and proud, when suddenly the ache turned into a sharper, more insistent pain that left her breathless.
Helaena, who had been silent and watchful, stepped forward, her violet eyes going distant as she muttered, “White stained with crimson-”
Aemond, turned sharply to Helaena, confused. “What?” he asked, a trace of worry crossing his features.
Helaena took his hand, her expression sorrowful as she murmured, “I’m so sorry brother-”
At that moment, Valaena let out a pained whimper, as she clutched her stomach, gasping, “The babe-the babe is coming!”
Aemond’s face paled as he looked from Helaena to Valaena, whose breaths were now coming in shallow, laboured gasps.
Without hesitation, he wrapped an arm around her, steadying her as her knees began to tremble.
Rhaegar’s wide eyes darted between his mother and father, clearly unsettled by the sudden shift.
Rhaenyra quickly took control, motioning to the guards and advisors. “Clear the hall! Make way!” Her voice rang out, and the bustling lords and ladies quickly quieted, eyes widening as they watched the princess double over in pain.
Aemond swept Valaena up into his arms, the protective fury in his eye telling everyone to keep their distance as he carried her through the throne room.
Rhaenyra followed close behind, barking orders for grand Maester Gerardys and the midwives to be summoned at once.
As they moved briskly through the corridors, Valaena clung to Aemond, her breath ragged, trying to steady herself as the pain grew sharper.
Between contractions, she looked up at him, her face flushed with both agony and determination.
“Aemond it’s early-” she whispered, worry lacing her voice.
He brushed a strand of hair from her damp forehead, his voice soft but fiercely resolute. “I’m here, Valaena. I won’t leave your side. We’ll get through this, I swear it.”
When they reached her chambers, the midwives and Gerardys were already prepared, bustling around as they readied her bed.
Gently, Aemond placed her down, settling beside her and taking her hand as Rhaenyra took her other side.
As the pain intensified, Valaena’s grip on Aemond’s hand tightened, but his gaze never wavered.
He leaned close, murmuring words of encouragement, determined to be her anchor as the hours stretched on, and the labour intensified.
Valaena writhed, her body nearly giving in from exhaustion as labour dragged on with a relentless intensity.
Each wave of pain was stronger than the last, and her energy waned, but her determination refused to give out.
The pain was overwhelming, and when Gerardys announced that the babe was stuck, her heart sank.
"I will not have my daughter butchered," Rhaenyra’s voice cut through the room, fierce and unyielding.
Gerardys quickly shook his head. “I’m not suggesting such a thing, Your Grace. But perhaps if the princess could walk, it might encourage the babe to move,” he said gently.
Rhaenyra nodded and leaned close to Valaena, stroking her sweat-dampened hair. “Sweet girl, you need to try and walk.”
Valaena whimpered, her voice strained. “I-I don’t think I can-”
Aemond slipped his arm around her, his voice firm yet full of care. “Come on, we’ll help you.” He lifted her gently, wrapping her against him as she clung to his arm, while Rhaenyra took her other side.
Step by painful step, Valaena leaned into them, every inch of movement an ordeal.
Each new contraction made her shudder, and suddenly, she doubled over, a scream tearing from her throat. “I can feel the babe-it’s coming!”
Gerardys, already alert, waved them back to the bed. “Quickly, lay her down!”
With great care, they helped Valaena back onto the bed as Gerardys moved to examine her. He looked up with a glimmer of relief.
“The babe has moved,” he announced. “I can see the head.”
Aemond moved closer as he took a quick look between her legs, his voice full of wonder. “The babe has silver hair.”
Valaena huffed weakly, managing a slight smile. “Not-another one-”
Aemond took her hand and pressed a tender kiss to her forehead. “You’re doing wonderfully, love,” he murmured, his gaze steady and reassuring.
Rhaenyra held Valaena’s other hand tightly, her face a mixture of pride and concern. “Now, push, sweet girl.”
Taking a deep breath, Valaena bore down, her scream echoing around the room as the effort drained what little strength she had left.
Finally, she sagged back onto the bed, shaking her head. “I-I can’t do it anymore.”
Aemond exchanged a worried look with Rhaenyra, and he leaned closer to Valaena, brushing her damp hair from her face. His voice softened as he reminded her, “You are blood of the dragon. You can do this.”
Tears streamed down her cheeks as she whispered, “I can’t-”
Gazing into her eyes, Aemond took her hand firmly and spoke with quiet conviction, “Do you remember the vows we spoke in our place?”
She gasped, her breath catching as she whispered, “Y-Yes-I do-”
Aemond’s voice dropped to a gentle murmur as he began, “-Hen lanoti ānogar, Va sȳndroti vaedroma, Mēro perzot gīhoti, Elēdroma āirza sīr, Izulī amapā perzi.” (Blood of two, joined as one, Ghostly flame and song of shadows, Two hearts as embers).
With a shuddering breath, Valaena joined him, her voice strained but full of resolve. “P-Prumī l-lanti sēteksi, Hen jenȳ māzīlarion, Qēlossa ozundesi, Syndroro ono jēdo, Rȳ kīvia mazvestraksi.” (Forged in fourteen fires, A future promised in glass, The stars stand witness, The vow spoken through time, Of darkness and light).
Aemond smiled at her, a fierce pride shining in his eye. “Come on, love. Now push.”
Drawing strength from his words, Valaena gritted her teeth and pushed with every last reserve of her strength.
Her cries of pain filled the room, and then, at last, a wet squelch broke the silence, followed by the strong, loud cries of a newborn.
The maester’s voice rang out joyfully. “A boy.”
Valaena fell back, her body limp, but her face lit with a mixture of relief and joy as she looked at Aemond. His eye was alight with pride, and he leaned down, kissing her forehead once more.
“You did it,” he whispered, his voice thick with emotion as he brushed the tears from her cheek.
The joy that had filled the room only moments ago shattered when Valaena’s body suddenly convulsed, blood flooding the sheets beneath her.
Aemond’s heart stilled, his voice tight with horror as he gasped, “W-What’s going on?”
Gerardys thrust the crying babe into the arms of a nearby midwife and desperately worked to stanch the bleeding.
But Valaena’s face grew pale, her grip on Rhaenyra’s hand slackened, her breaths shallowing as her eyes rolled back.
“No,” Aemond whispered, stepping closer, panic spilling into his words. “No, Valaena. Don’t close your eyes!”
But Valaena didn’t respond. Her body went limp, and she lay unresponsive as Gerardys called for the others to clear the room, ushering Aemond and Rhaenyra out as he battled to save her life.
Outside, the minutes crept by with agonizing slowness. Aemond clenched his fists, feeling helpless, his every nerve frayed.
Rhaenyra, paced the corridor, twisting her rings as if the motion could chase away the growing fear in her eyes.
Finally, the door creaked open, and Gerardys appeared, dishevelled and splattered with blood.
“My Prince,” he began, his voice weary.
“Is-Is Valaena all right?” Aemond demanded, fear clawing at him.
“She’s Alive. I managed to stop the bleeding—”
“But?” Aemond’s voice broke as his heartbeat thundered in his chest.
Gerardys’ face softened with sorrow. “The traumatic birth and heavy blood loss has caused Princess Valaena to slip into a coma.”
Rhaenyra let out a strangled sob, pressing a hand to her mouth.
Aemond’s mind reeled. “W-What-What does that mean?”
“Sometimes, when the body endures extreme trauma, it may enter a state of deep unconsciousness—called a coma.” Gerardys paused, hesitant. “How long it will last, I cannot say. It may be days, weeks, or perhaps even longer. It depends entirely on how her body can heal.”
“So-she’s asleep?”
“In a way, yes,” Gerardys replied gently, “but the longer she remains unresponsive, the less likely it is that she will ever wake.”
Aemond’s breath shuddered. “N-Never wake. She’s just given birth to our son; we have other children. How am I supposed to cope without her?” Tears streamed down his face as his voice broke.
“I’m truly sorry, my Prince,” Gerardys murmured.
Aemond swallowed, clinging to the faintest hope. “C-Can I see her?”
Gerardys nodded and moved aside to allow Aemond to enter their chambers.
Inside, fresh bedding had been laid, and Valaena was reclined in a clean shift, her dark hair brushed back.
Her face was peaceful, as if she were only sleeping, though her skin was a ghastly pale, and her breathing was shallow.
Aemond collapsed at her bedside, taking her hand in his own, pressing it to his forehead as he broke down.
“Please, Valaena,” he whispered through choked sobs. “Please, don’t leave me.”
Meanwhile, Rhaenyra had retreated to the hallway, her heart aching as she leaned against the wall, whispering to herself in despair.
“You gave her back to me, please, don’t take her away again. I can’t lose her again.” She held a hand to her chest as she felt her composure begin to crumble.
In the silence, she felt strong arms wrap around her. Daemon’s familiar warmth enveloped her as she looked up, her tears spilling over.
“Not again, Daemon,” she sobbed, pressing her face into his shoulder. “I can’t do this again.”
Daemon stroked her back, his voice calm and steady. “Shh. It’ll be all right”
Daemon opened the door, his heart heavy as he stepped into the dimly lit chamber. His gaze fell on Aemond, who knelt beside Valaena’s bedside, clutching her pale, motionless hand.
Aemond’s shoulders shook, his voice soft and pleading as he pressed his forehead to her hand.
“Please, baby,” he choked, his words broken. “Please, come back to me. I-I can’t do this without you.” The tears streamed down his face. “We were supposed to die together, remember? Y-You promised me-that we would grow old and die at the exact same moment, holding hands-”
Daemon’s throat tightened, tears blurring his own vision as he took in Valaena’s still form. She looked so peaceful, as though she were merely asleep, but her face was pale, her body unmoving.
He hesitated, his heart aching as he reached out, his hand hovering above Aemond’s shoulder before finally resting there with a gentle squeeze.
Aemond looked up at him, his one eye red-rimmed and filled with despair.
He gazed at Daemon, and then, as though breaking, lurched forward, wrapping his arms around him as he sobbed, the grief pouring out in heaving, shuddering gasps.
Daemon, momentarily shocked, felt his own heart give way. He tightened his arms around Aemond, his hand resting on the back of Aemond’s head as he held him close.
Words escaped him; all he could do was let Aemond cry, his own tears slipping silently down his cheeks as he held the man who was, in that moment, no prince, nor rival, but simply a husband fearing the loss of his love.
Together, they knelt at Valaena’s side, united in the quiet grief and hope that she would come back to them.

losing the championships
hughes!sister x will smith au (samy + will)
will's self-doubt creeps in after losing the finals making him snap at the one person who's always there for him, almost making her turn her back on him.
2.6k words
warnings: a bit of angst, arguing, crying, this is a sad post in general
ik im feeding y’all rn but i feel weird putting this out in two days and not now haha, but guys you know i had to do it. i had to get the angst out. i think this is like the first angsty post in the series?? i hate when there is angst, but i love writing it lmao. i'm not sure how accurate some of this is, but i hope the trio stays on for another season!! i'd actually be devestated if they don't. anyways keep requesting!! <3
au masterlist
it didn’t feel real. nothing felt real watching her best friends crumple to the ice in utter defeat and heartbreak just two days after winning the semifinals. samy stood up in the stands nearly motionless while everything around her fell silent. she didn’t think those moments were actually real whenever they played in movies, but here she was hardly focusing on anything but her best friends in tears.
her eyes couldn’t leave ryan on his knees with his face in the ice. she just wanted to wrap all of them into her arms so none of them would feel this type of pain anymore.
the stupid jumbotron panned to everyone’s reactions, basically putting the boys on full blast when they most definitely didn’t want anyone to see them crying like they were. samy’s heart only broke further when she finally looked down at her boyfriend trying to hold himself together while comforting a sobbing ryan and teary gabe.
her own eyes grew teary seeing those three so destroyed not knowing what was next for any of them. that was probably the scariest part.
when will searched for samy’s gaze the waterworks broke like a dam for the couple. the youngest hughes was completely crying and will’s shame settled into his skin that he lost the game without even scoring a single point.
their coach urged the boys down the tunnel before the cameras could get any more shots of them. samy tried pulling herself together, but her hiccuping cries didn’t stop slipping out no matter how hard she tried holding them in.
boston’s side of the lobby was nearly silent which almost mirrored michigan’s team two days ago. suddenly, seeing those happy memories wasn’t as easy anymore. samy’s mind raced wondering if this game really was the last for her favorite trio or if they’d stay on one more season with boston.
thirty minutes passed before the bc boys slowly trickled out of the locker room. their bloodshot eyes and tear stained faces were enough to send more tears into samy’s own eyes. her lip quivered waiting for her boyfriend to appear, but he didn’t come out after his usual spot behind ryan and gabe. the two boys found samy’s gaze, frowning even deeper.
“hey, i’m so sorry. i-i have no words,” samy brought them into big hugs hoping to ease a bit of their ache.
“what a fucking night,” ryan muttered bitterly.
“you guys played well. those refs were idiots making calls,” the brunette shook her head.
“will’s still in there. he’s..he’s not taking this one too well. you can go in if you want, but he may explode. I i don’t want you to think he’s mad at you, he’ll just find something to take his anger out on,” gabe explained briefly. samy’s eyes slid towards the locker room doorway where her boyfriend hid.
“don’t worry, i know how he gets. I’ll see if i can talk to him,” she couldn’t be scared of will.
he was her best friend and boyfriend. he’d never intentionally hurt her and if he said things, she knew he was just angry with himself, not her. the girl shuffled her way towards the locker room trying to put on a brave face for will’s sake.
she knocked on the door before slowly pushing it open. her eyes scanned the practically empty room until she found her boyfriend slumped in his stall at the end of the benches. her hands trembled as she slid further in and leaned against the door.
“will?”
his eyes snapped towards hers. he looked like a mess and that only unleashed more waterworks seeing him in this state. it wasn’t one samy saw him a lot in, so when she did, it hurt extra hard.
“if you’re here to try and make me feel better, i don’t wanna hear it,” the boy mumbled bitterly which quickly caught samy off guard.
she wasn’t expecting that from him so immediately.
“i’m not. just here to be with you,” the girl said, trying to hide the shake in her voice.
“well, i’m not really in the mood to be around anyone right now. just go. i’ll be out in a few minutes,” the bitterness in his voice definitely stung, but samy tried shaking him off knowing he was just upset.
“will..” she inched forward, wanting to reach out to him. he looked as if anyone touched him he’d just break into a million pieces.
“i said go. i don’t need your fucking sympathy. i feel feel like shit,” the blonde snapped this time making samy instantly draw back.
“i know you’re upset, i get it. this loss fucking sucks. i’m just trying—”
“you don’t fucking get it, samy! i just lost the championship game 2-0. we scored zero points. you know how fucking embarrassing that is? i’ve been trying to prove myself all season about how good i can be and then i lose the championship game. you’ll never fucking get it!” there it was.
will’s tone rose with anger and hurt all mixed into one. samy swallowed the nerves climbing higher in her stomach as she tried remembering none of this was really directed at her. she was just the person will was getting his anger out on.
“i-i do get it, will. remember my championship game in december? we choked. i-i get it, i do. it sucks and i’m so sorry it ended this way. i wish it didn’t—”
“stop saying you get it. it’s not the fucking same. you’ve never had to work for anything in your life because of your family!”
the blonde’s harsh words finally hit a nerve. samy’s face twisted and she didn’t know anymore if he really didn’t mean it or not, but through the anger, will realized what he said.
“samy..i didn’t—”
“fuck you, will. you of all people should know how hard i’ve worked to be where i am right now. i know you’re upset about everything right now, but you don’t need to bring me down to make yourself feel better. don’t bother waiting up. i’m leaving with ryan and gabe,” samy stormed out of the locker room before will could say anything more.
the tears streamed down her face as soon as she was in the lobby again. ryan and gabe instantly noticed her distraught expression, immediately going to her.
“shit, what happened?” ryan muttered.
“can we just go? i can’t deal with him right now,” samy choked out. the two exchanged a worried glance, but obliged.
the whole ride back to the hotel was nothing but silence as everyone reeled from the disappointing night.
—
gabe let samy camp out in his hotel room for the night. he didn’t dare ask her what happened in the locker room knowing she’d tell him if she wanted to; however, the dark-haired boy wanted to go knock some sense into will knowing he most definitely snapped too hard at samy which made her want to avoid him.
it was almost two in the morning when there was a small knock. still awake, the two exchanged wary glances, so gabe got the door.
he pulled it open to reveal a very weary, teary-eyed, sad, and frustrated will. for a moment, gabe almost let him in, but he stopped himself because he didn’t want the boy blowing up at samy again. the girl sat nervously on the bed just out of sight of the door listening in on them.
“is she here?” will rasped out, voice dry from the amount he cried after samy left the locker room and getting back to the hotel.
“i’m not sure i wanna answer that,” gabe stood his ground.
“come on, perreault. leno said he didn’t have her,” will tried again.
hearing how wrecked he sounded broke samy’s heart all over again. gabe gazed back at her, a look in his eyes asking her if she really wanted to see him.
even though he insulted her, something in samy was still trying to justify it for him being upset and angry. she really wanted to believe he didn’t mean it. with that, the girl crawled off the bed and shuffled her way behind gabe’s 6’1 figure.
“we can talk in your room,” samy mumbled.
“o-okay,” the shake in her boyfriend’s voice made samy want to lunge herself at him and make all the pain go away, but she had to stand up for herself still.
“you’re sure?” gabe wondered before letting her go.
“i’m sure. i’ll see you tomorrow,” she rubbed his arm and stepped around him.
her and will walked three doors down where his hotel room was. it was basically hers too since most of her stuff was scattered across the room over the past few days they’ve been there.
will shut the door behind them. the brunette looked at him expectantly knowing she said everything she could. a beat of silence passed before the tears quickly filled the blonde’s eyes and he started completely sobbing in front of her. he crumpled against the door, choking sobs falling from his lips as he body sunk into the ground.
for a second, samy just stared at him until her instincts kicked in and she went to him without hesitation this time.
“oh will,” she curled into his side, stroking his hair as his body fell into hers.
“i’m so sorry. i didn’t mean any of it. i don’t know why i said it. i was upset and i know that’s not an excuse at all,” the boy rambled into her shoulder.
“i know this loss hurts, but taking your anger out on people with harsh words isn’t gonna make it better,” samy said.
“i know, i know. i-i’m so sorry. i shouldn’t have lashed out on you. that’s not fair to you at all.”
“i was just trying to comfort you like i always do after losses,” the girl hated seeing her boyfriend so upset like this. his tears dripped everywhere on her even after samy tried wiping them away with her thumb.
“i know. i shouldn’t have pushed you away like that. i just.. I didn’t want you to see me like that,” will’s voice grew softer at his small admission.
“what do you mean like that?” i’ve seen you lose games before.”
“i don’t know if this is how you felt after your soccer game, but i felt so pathetic for losing a championship game where we didn’t even score. my pride was hurt and i worried you’d think i wasn’t good enough anymore because i lost like that,” his words continued breaking samy’s heart.
she grabbed ahold of his face so he was looking at her, “i’d never think any less of you because you lost. it happens. you’re not pathetic for losing and i promise it doesn’t make me look at you any differently.”
“i guess i’m just always scared you’ll get sick of me and realize i’m not actually worth it. that and a hundred other emotions were just going through me and it came out really wrong,” will frowned.
a small sigh escaped the girl’s lips hearing the boy she’s known all her life doubt himself so much. “you’re always worth it, will. nothing’s ever gonna change that for me, okay? i’m always gonna be in love with you and wanna be around you win or lose, whatever's happening in your career. you’re stuck with me,” a small laugh escaped their lips at the last part.
“i know that. i just get really doubtful when i get down on myself and hard losses like that happen.”
“i get it, but i’m not going anywhere, okay? you played your best tonight, those refs were making shit calls and unfortunately, denver just figured us out.”
a small nod came from will. he pushed his forehead onto samy’s just trying to ease all the thoughts running through his mind while focusing on the way she ran her fingers gently through his hair and around his curls. some of his roots were rough and red from the way he pulled harshly on them earlier, so her gentle motions slowly eased the ache.
“i’m scared that i don’t know what’s gonna happen next with any of us,” will spoke again after a small silence.
he lifted his head again to meet his girlfriend’s gaze before leaning it against the door.
“are you gonna sign on?” the idea played in samy’s mind as well after tonight’s game.
the decision was entirely up to the coaches of each of the guy’s respective teams, but considering how well all of them played and improved in one season, they may want them sooner rather than later.
“i don’t know. it’s up to whether the sharks want me now or later,” will answered.
“have you talked to ryan or gabe? what they may do?”
“washington’s pushing closer to the playoffs. they may want ryan on for it. i dunno. gabe’s most likely gonna stay. i don’t think the rangers are quite ready for him yet. the ideal situation is we all stay one one more season with boston,” will explained a bit, his fingers drawing mindles shapes into samy’s leg.
“what do the sharks say about you?” the girl wondered with a raised eyebrow.
“you know what they say about me. they want me now. they wanna wait another year. it’s..sort of up to me i guess,” will shrugged a bit, avoiding eye contact.
“would you sign on now?” she rephrased her question from earlier.
“if i sign on now, my entire life gets flipped around in a week and i have to move to california, but then i’d possibly get to play in the playoffs. if i wait, i get to stay with boston and everyone for another year and more importantly, see you more frequently than if i was in california,” samy rolled her eyes at the last part—he was always so down bad for her.
“don’t make the decision based on me, will. you’ll see me still.”
“i know, but i think i do subconsciously anyway. you’re just my life now,” his words sent a deep blush across the girl’s cheeks.
“i’m flattered,” she rubbed the side of his cheek making him lean into her touch.
“you’re everything to me, samy. i’m really, really in love with you and i can’t imagine my life without you in it,” will smiled softly.
the girl flushed, but returned his smile. hearing those kinds of things come out of his mouth was still something the brunette was getting used to even after 9 months of being together.
“you’re everything to me too, will. i love you a lot.”
the boy leaned forward to place a gentle, yet loving kiss on her lips. they melted into one another, small sighs escaping their mouths at the contact. her hands tugged at his curls while his own curved around her waist, pulling her impossibly closer like he needed her as close as possible or else he couldn’t function.
part of it was true. without samy, will was lost like a fish in the ocean. she was a part of him and he was a part of her. they were intertwined and always would be. her soft lips soothed every single thought and self-doubt will had because as long as his favorite girl believed in him, that was all that mattered.
“i know i said this already, but thank you for being here. it means a lot to me,” will said when they pulled apart.
“i’d never miss this. i’ll always skip classes for you,” she grinned.
the boy beamed, pulling her back in for another kiss.
the two didn’t get into bed until nearly 3:30 in the morning. samy curled into will’s side, his arm tightly around her as she laid on his chest. the tension in the air completely dissipated and the cries died down. things felt okay again.
they’d sleep tangled in one another all night knowing the next morning samy had to catch her plane back to michigan and will would be left with one big decision that would decide what plane he had to catch.

Happy birthday, Shana! 🎉🎉🌻🌻
Untamed or Naruto?
When Naruto is born, the nine tailed fox is pulled from Kushina along with her and it's only because of Minato's quick application of a seal that keeps disaster from becoming even worse.
Dozens of buildings and hundreds of lives are lost in the devestation. Still, it could have been a far worse attack, if Naruto had not been a suitable host for the demon.
It's a risk, one that Kushina screams at him for taking. The seal might not hold. Babies are not meant to be containers. It could kill their daughter, and sure, the nine tail might die along with her, but at what cost?
The seal holds. Naruto's strength holds.
The ordeal nearly kills Kushina and weakens her enough that she'll never again be an active duty ninja.
Minato sleeps at his office after that. Kushina doesn't even let him hold her until she's six months old and it's not until Naruto is almost two that she lets him move back into their home.
Still. Things aren't quite the same between them after that, when Kushina saw how he quick he was to sacrifice his daughter for the village.
Practically, she understands.
But no one has ever accused Kushina of being practical.
~
A container forced to spend their whole life fighting the fox will be weak. There's nothing for it - all their energy and chakra and time is spent subduing the fox, consciously or subconsciously.
Her daughter has been sabotaged from her first breath, made a target and given no way to defend herself.
"You want me to marry your daughter?" Kakashi squeaks, wondering if this is some new cruel prank she's playing on him. "She's a baby!"
But Kushina is serious. She's serious a lot these days, but at his question she almost smiles. "Not now. In about twenty years."
"Why," he starts, and then doesn't know how to continue.
"You're selfish," she says and his shoulders hunch. "Naruto won't be able to protect herself when people discover what she is and start coming after her. Minato has seen to that. My identity as the container was a well kept secret. Thanks to the attack, half of Konoha knows what Naruto is, and the other nations will hear of it, and they will come for her."
"I can protect her without marrying her," he insists, looking down at the baby in Kushina's arms. The idea that anyone, never mind him, will marry her someday is ridiculous.
"You're selfish," she repeats. "You'll choose her if she belongs to you."
Kakashi doesn't know what to say to that. He knows why Minato hasn't come home.
He goes to him, and his teacher just shrugs and says, "Don't you want to be my son-in-law, Kakashi?" Then, "Don't worry about it for the next twenty years. A lot can happen between now and then."
Gai hears he's been betrothed - uhg - to the hokage's daughter and congratulates him on an excellent political match and then takes pity on him and takes him to a bar.
It's his first time drinking and he probably shouldn't have let Gai goad him into a drinking contest.
~
Naruto is wary of people.
Some people love her, coo over her being the hokage's daughter and a brave little girl, patting her head and shoving sweets into her hands.
Some people glare at her, hiss about her being a demon who's killed the hokage's real daughter, and slam doors in her face and throw rocks at her back.
"Is it weird having a husband?" Ino asks while they make flower crowns from the days discarded flowers. It's the end to their first week at the academy and her parents are fighting - again - so Naruto had gone home with Ino instead. The Yamanakas are always nice to her.
Her mother doesn't want her to attend the academy, says its a waste of time and dangerous anyway. Her father says that the child of the hokage can't not attend the academy.
Neither of them had asked her what she wanted.
She pauses, thinking. Kakashi greets her and bows to her but he's ANBU, something she's not supposed to know but seems very obvious, so she doesn't really see him outside of when he comes by to talk to her parents sometimes. "No? He's not my husband yet anyway."
She's overheard him a couple times asking her father to find her a different husband, saying that he'll be bodyguard forever if only he doesn't have to marry her.
It hurts that Kakashi thinks she's a demon too. She'd always thought he was really cool and had thought it was nice that she'd have a nice, cool husband when she was older.
But she doesn't think she wants to marry someone who hates her.
~
The Uchihas aren't always nice to her, but Mikoto always is, coming over to her house to talk to her mother and dragging her sons with her, or keeping her door open to Naruto whenever she comes knocking.
Itachi stops coming early on, promoted quickly and no time to tag along to his mother's house visits. Sasuke is there and he scows and pouts but can be efficiently bullied into helping her get into whatever trouble she's decided is most worth her attention that day, so he's pretty all right, for a boy.
Naruto has to pay a lot of really close attention to people, because she never knows if they're going to be nice and mean, and the Uchihas aren't like the Yamanakas. Their reactions differ, so she has to pay attention.
Something is wrong.
Her mother doesn't believe her.
Her father doesn't listen.
She goes to Kakashi out of desperation. She tries to avoid him as much as she can, but he's the one person who might be able to convince her father that something is wrong.
"Ah, Naruto-hime, what can I do for you?" he asks, tone respectful. When she was younger, she liked that nickname. Now she knows that he's mocking her.
"Something is wrong with the Uchiha and you need to get my father to do something about it," she says.
His face is hidden by his stupid mask but she can tell he's frowning. "Why would you-"
She cuts him off, wanting this conversation to be as short as possible. He doesn't believe her either - shocker - but he agrees to look into because it's the quickest way to end the conversation.
Danzo is quietly, secretly, executed for treason. Madara Uchiha is listed as an active S class missing Konoha nin.
There are lots of talks about what, exactly, to do about the Uchihas, on how to handle their almost betrayal. Considering the outside manipulation, her father is inclined to ignore it, but something has to be done. Symbolically, if nothing else.
"If they feel excluded, then do something to make them feel included," Naruto says, nine years old and exhausted from the years of tension between the Uchihas and - well, everyone. Sasuke is so worried about his reputation that it takes ages to get him to do anything fun. It's almost quicker to get Shikamaru involved, which is saying something. "Do something no one else can question."
"Itachi or Sasuke?" her father asks, head bent over his paperwork.
She doesn't know what he's talking about. "For what?"
"Which do you prefer?" he asks.
"Sasuke?" she says, because Itachi is always very nice to her, especially after she helped prevent him from becoming a mass murderer, but he's never once helped her prank Iruka-sensei.
He nods and says nothing more and she rolls her eyes and goes to find something to do. Kiba has started training with Akamaru and she bets she can totally derail that without getting yelled at by Tsume.
A week later Sasuke climbs into her window and hisses furiously, "We're getting married?"
Huh.
Well, it looks like Kakashi got what he wanted.
She decided a long time ago she didn't want to marry him, and Sasuke is her friend, so this is fine. It's better.
Sasuke pats her shoulder and doesn't even yell at her when she ruins his shirt with tears.
He's already a better husband than Kakashi could ever be.
~
Minato is dreading today. Enrolling Naruto into the Academy had seemed like the right thing to do seven years ago, because what would people say about a hokage who didn't, but now that it's Graduation Day and he's going to have to deal with the gossip around the Hokage's daughter failing to even become a genin.
Iruka comes to drop off the team assignments and he does a double take when looking through them. "She passed?"
The chunin blinks and then asks, "Who, Hokage-sama? Haruno Sakura? It's rare for a civilian child, but her academic scores are quite high, even if her physical is lacking. She has a lot of potential."
He waves a dismissive hand. "No. My daughter."
The silence turns frigid and when he looks up it's too Iruka outright glaring at him. He's so taken aback that he can't even reprimand him for it. Iruka swallows, visibly forcing his face into less mutinous expression, and says, "Naruto is Top Kunoichi. That's why she's on the same team as Sasuke, who's Rookie of the Year, even though I was hesitant on putting them together when they already work so well together. They could use variety. Sakura is Dead Last, but only because of her physical skills. With the right teacher, she'll shape up quickly."
"Top Kunoichi," he repeats dubiously. "I've seen her test scores."
"Not since I took over her class, apparently," he says, and that tone should get him in trouble, but Minato doesn't care about that now. "Her previous instructor was ... biased. Under fair instruction, she excels."
She can't excel. She's handicapped, and it's his fault, not hers, but that doesn't change what she's capable of. "That's not possible."
Iruka's eyes narrow. "She's passed my tests. Now it's up to her jounin sensei."
Assigning someone with no biases is impossible, but he can at least assign someone who's never matched the shinobi art of lying about things they don't care about.
~
Naruto hopes this is a nightmare. Sasuke is pinching the bridge of his nose and not looking at any of them.
"Um," Sakura says hesitantly, "nice to meet you, Tsume-sensei."
She scowls at all of them. "I hope you fail. I have a clan to run! I don't have time to deal with untrained, undisciplined puppies!"
They probably shouldn't have broken into the Inuzuka compound so many times. Tsume has plenty of reasons to make their lives miserable. Or, well, hers and Sasuke's. Sakura's never done anything to her.
At least it's not Kakashi.

THE 9TH MEMBER - CHAPTER 1
synopsis. nabi (aka you) has been training for just over 3 years and when you heard you were going to debut, you were super excited to meet your members. although, you were taken aback when you heard that your members were all boys.
pairing. female!reader x ateez!members | tags. the most tiniest angst ever, members angry, nothing else (i think) | genre. fluff | wc. 510+ | masterlist
author note. ahh my first ever series on this blog !! writing this was super fun and i loved all of it !! my mistakes for posting this really late, i recently got my dream job and have been focusing on it! do not worry, i will slowly make my return to writing soon <3
networks. @newworldnet @illusionnet @starlit-network
when you first got news of getting accepted into this new company, you couldn't believe your eyes. all this hard work and effort seemed like it was worth it after all.
"we have a slight problem." your manager says. uh oh. this is going to turn very bad.. "as you would've known we don't have much girl trainees here at the company and since we were aiming for a 5 member girl group, we've decided to do something you probably won't like."
"me!? in a boy group?! b-but, im a girl! wouldn't it be weird if a girl - who is not a boy - is in a boy group?" your face dropped at the sudden announcement. not being able to debut was probably a way better choice than having to debut with boys. "look, we know this came as a shocker but, its really beneficial for you!" your manager tries to say happily. "tomorrow, you'll be meeting the members. trust me, they're really nice!" the staff tries to say before you groan annoyed as you stormed off. "why am i debuting in a boy group? wouldn't i be hated at? wasn't it better if i just debut solo? why am i going to debut with random boys?!" you thought.
-
"what?! a girl?" hongjoong says in shock. over the last 5 years, it's always been just the 8 of the boys together. but now that nabi will debut with ateez, that means there'll be more pressure on hongjoong. from reproducing the songs to recording all of nabi's parts, he gets annoyed over this. "why are we having a girl in our group!? do you not understand the pressure ill be put under!? i have already worked long hours for us to come this far, wouldn't it just be a waste if we have to remake ALL our songs?" hongjoong angrily says. "calm down hongjoong, im sure she'll be a great addition to our group." seonghwa calmly says, trying to calm him down. "exactly! i think having a girl will be a great addition to the team plus, it'll be really good for you guys to have a new friend!" the manager says.
hongjoong sighs before accepting his fate. "fine, but if she isn't what you say she is, then im going to make her first day her last." he says before storming off. the members rub their forehead in devestation as the meeting room stays quiet. "well, how are we going to deal with a girl?" mingi says. "no idea, but we need to give it some time. if we rush her into doing stuff, she'll get uncomfortable and then we'll get in trouble." seonghwa adds on from mingi's statement. "plus, ive heard there were some trainees here who are snitches. hopefully she isn't one of them." wooyoung mentions. "well now that we're talking, you guys will meet her.. tomorrow!" the manager says. "TOMORROW!?" the guys say together. "yes yes, bit of a shocker but im sure you'll be fine!" the members sigh in annoyance before the manager leaves them, the room filling with silence again.

Matt X reader. The reader has Been inlove with Matt as long as she could remember. They are best friends and have been since childhood, one day Matt introduce reader to a girl he has been meeting up with. (Without her knowledge) They talk and stuff but reader is devestated and isn’t really good at hiding it, Matt notices and asks what’s Wrong but reader says she has a bad stomach and leaves quickly. Matt goes after her and sees her crying sitting on a nearby bench. There she confesses everything and he kiss her/small makeout session?❤️ Matt had also loved reader all his life. I couldn’t help but love the Chris X reader stress fic. It was super cute! And since i saw you wanted some suggestions here is one!! 🫶 It’s kinda long sorry😅😅❤️
Why can't he choose me?
a/n: this idea is so cute omg
cw: none ig?? kissing💀
summary: request
I sit up from my bed as I hear my phone ping across the room. I automatically know it's Matt, he texts me at the same time everyday, at exactly 12:00pm. I quickly grab my phone, a big dumb smile already on my face before I even read his message. 'Hey, wanna go to the park today?' his message reads. I feel my smile widen. Excitedly I text back, 'Yes of course'. I bound out of bed and rush towards my bathroom to start getting ready. Matt is my best friend, and although we've hung out time and time again, I can't help but get excited every time he wants to.
I brush my teeth and throw on some jeans and a fitted t-shirt. I fix my hair and put on a little makeup, nothing too noticeable but enhances my features nonetheless. I smile at my reflection, hoping Matt will comment on the work I put into my appearance. It's no secret that I've been crushing on Matt since childhood, everyone knows. Everyone except Matt.
I grab my phone and see another message sent around 20 minutes ago. 'Alright, I'll be there in 30 minutes. See you then :)' Matt wrote. I giggle at his smiley face and grab my keys and pocket my phone. I pull on some tennis shoes and get in my car, driving to the park.
I pull up in a space next to Matt's car, smiling at the thought of seeing him. I get out of my car and lock it, heading up to the hill we always sit on.
As I make my way over, I spot Matt already sitting down. I stop on my tracks and my heart drops as I notice a girl already sitting next to him, in my spot. Hatred already floods my body, but I shove it down and continue to trudge towards him, slower than before. Time slows down as I watch her laugh at something he said, grabbing his arm to steady herself. I stand directly behind him and take a deep breath.
"Hey," I say, my voice monotone. Matt whips around, and so does the girl hanging off his arm.
"Hey y/n," he smiles. He stands and offers the girl next to him his hand to help her up. She giggles and puts her hand in his, lingering in his grasp. I bite my lip angrily, hard enough to draw blood. "I wanted you to meet Olivia."
Olivia, I think. A pretty name for an awfully pretty girl. Long, beautiful brown hair, hazel eyes and cute tiny freckles. Damn it, she's pretty as hell.
"Hi!" Olivia says smiling. "I've heard all about you, it's so nice to meet you."
Crap! I think, my eye twitching as I plaster on a fake smile. She's really nice, too! What the hell do I do now?
"Hey Olivia," I say, forcing a smile as I stick out a hand for her to shake. "Great to meet you." She smiles and shakes my hand. I can't help but glance down at her other hand that rests on Matt's forearm. I let go of Olivia's hand and she starts telling me about some random shit, and I unintentionally tune her out, watching her body language towards Matt. A chill runs down my spine as I feel his intense gaze on me, watching my stance. I can tell he knows something is wrong at the slight pinch of his eyebrows.
I watch as Olivia mentions something about Matt in her sentence and rests her hand on his shoulder blade, like I do. Jealousy washes over me in a heavy wave. Matt is still watching me, and I can tell he's about to ask me what's wrong. I interrupt Olivia before he can.
"I'm sorry," I interject, wrapping an arm around my stomach. "I must've eaten something bad earlier, my stomach ad really hurting right now. I'm gonna head over to the bathrooms, I'll be back in a bit." My voice cracks on the last sentence, a dead giveaway to Matt that I'm about to cry.
I whip around, not waiting for their answer and quickly walk to the outdoor bathrooms, tears filling my eyes. I walk behind the large brick wall behind the bathrooms, sliding down to the ground. I let out a sob as I bury my face in my hands. There's no way that's not Matt's girlfriend, not with the way she was so obviously close with him. Why can't he choose me? I think as tears roll down my face.
I still as I hear footsteps approach. I can tell it's Matt by the pattern of which he walks. I hear him sit down next to me. He drapes an arm across my shoulders. "What's wrong?" He asks. "And don't give me any of that 'I'm fine' shit, we both know you're not fine." I look up at him, my heart pounding at the soft look on his face. He gives me a small smile as I look him in the eyes, concern still evident on his face. Just by his expression, I break down in tears.
"Oh God, Matt," I cry, "what's wrong is-" I struggle to find the words. Fuck it, I think, deciding to just tell him how I feel. "I'm in love with you, that's what's wrong," I say miserably. I look him in the eyes again. His eyebrows are slightly raised and he stares at me intently. "I've been in love with you for so long, and its wrong because you're obviously with Olivia and not-" my words are cut off as I feel soft lips on my own.
I widen my eyes as he gently breaks the kiss. He laughs softly at my expression as he frames my face with his hands. "I'm not with Olivia," he murmurs, his face millimeters away from mine. "I could never even think of her in the same way I think of you." With that, he kisses me again, and I actually kiss back this time. My sad mood is immediately lifted to a lighter one at the feeling of his mouth on mine. He pulls me into his lap and I wrap my arms around his neck. I hold back a smile of relief as Matt tilts his head to deepen the kiss. After a few moments, we both pull back, out of breath. Matt lets out a breathy laugh and I smile. "God, I've wanted to do that for such a long time," he whispers, pressing gentle kisses to my face.
I giggle as he peppers my face with kisses. "Matt," I laugh as he kisses down to my neck and back up again.
"There's my happy girl," he says softly. He pulls away from my skin with a lopsided grin, his eyes sparkling with love and affection. "I'm in love with you, too," Matt mumbles, gently stroking my cheek with his hand.
"Really?" I laugh, lighthearted sarcasm evident in my voice. "I would've never guessed."
"Shut up," he says playfully before kissing me again. "I love you," he whispers against my lips. "You don't have to say it back but I at least want you to know."
I smile. "I love you too, Matt," I murmur, kissing him yet again. I feel him smile into the kiss, and I know that he'll always be mine.

HAIBARA MOVIE!
Kir T-T She tried to save the woman but Gin is a bitch. It's good he didn't hear her though,
Not even minutes and he's already looking adorable!
And Ai is the sweetest girl in the world. She has seen so much cruelty and she still chooses to be nice T-T
I'm sure Agasa's inventions won't be anything important in the movie at all :p (He deserves so much more credit for his inventions).
Sonoko is also really nice and I adore her! She made sure Ai got her good karma in return for her own kindness towards the old woman.
Awww Akai is such a good dad, making sure that Shinichi and Ai stay safe. He's already an approvement on Shinichi's actually parents.
I was about to complain that Shinichi didn't mention the women of the BO but I didn't realise it was because he was revealing the info about their codenames. I didn't realise all the distilled liquor belong to the men of the org.
I feel so bad for Ran. She was shaking while she said this because her father couldn't even resist not drinking for a morning to join the trip.
Shinichi... You really just hitched a ride on the police boat because you can't leave anything alone T-T
Wow, he's actually acting the role of a child pretty well. Why can't he do this all the time?
He loves being complimented for his intelligence T-T
Shinichi should be sweating bullets right now with this technology.
Ever since how Shinichi counts has been relevent in a case, it's used all the time XD
And Amuro and Vermouth have shown up. This can't be good.
WHOOP! The secret it "out". And both Vermouth and Bourbon are scared for Shinichi (and Ai for Amuro, I guess).
Lmao yeah I guess the system would also be bad for the BO. Perhaps it's better it doesn't exist.
Camel magically grew back his hair (I know it's because this movie was in development way before that moment it's just funny).
Why are they playing this as a joke when it's devestating that they're made to deal with this.
I do appreciate Shinichi giving the kids hints instead of just telling the answer straight out and when he was struggling to give them a better one, Ai jumped in to help T-T
...Why aren't you telling Ai? I fucking HATE how the don't include her in the discussion when it's really imporant for her to be so.
THIS WAS SO CUTE. Okay they redeemed themselves slighty, but I would still love for her to included in discussions.
AI MADE SURE AYUMI WAS COVERED IN A BLANKET EVEN AS SHE'S FEARING FOR HER OWN LIFE AND TRYING TO RUN.
RAN!
OH MY GOD I WAS NOT EXPECTING THAT AND I AM SO EXCITED.
Okay but now the org know Ran knows about them (she saw them kidnap a little girl) and she FUCKING FOUGHT THEM AGAIN. She. Should. Know. Because at this point they will kill her.
She is at her breaking point with him. I hope that broke a couple of ribs.
SHINICHI IS NOT GIVING UP ON AI T-T HE JUST DIVED OFF A CLIFF AND INTO THE OCEAN TO CHASE AFTER THEM.
Hearing Agasa cry is making me want to cry T-T SHE'S HIS FAMILY.
One very pissed off and very dangerous little boy.
HE'S SO ANGRY AND UPSET WITH HIMSELF AND WORRIED FOR AI OH MY GOD T-T
AI T-T
MY GOD THIS MOVIE HAS DONE MORE FOR AI IN THE PAST FEW MOMENTS THAN THE SERIES HAS DONE FOR HER IN A LONG TIME!
I love Kir noticing the bug and not doing anything about it T-T And I know that knot has been tied properly. The women are being treated well in this movie.
Awww, they're all protecting the children from the truth.
And Amuro has given Shinichi the info he needs to fuck shit up.
Kogoro is being treated like a nuisance this movie as well and I am all here for it even if the movies usually write him better.
Ai has always been so kind T-T
AI AND AKEMI T-T
But that explains why Ai was on her computer.
She has a dog? Can she get anymore perfect?
Can someone throw Kogoro out? Or bring back the Kogoro from the previous movie? Please?
You know what I also like? Vodka feels like an actual threat instead of the side goon.
My heart is breaking.
KIR! SHE'S DOING WHAT SHE CAN! I LOVE THE WOMEN IN THIS MOVIE!
And Gin has arrived.
Gin at this moment: My long hair and hat look awesome but damn they don't make a helicopter landing easy.
KIR IS THE MVP OF THIS MOVIE MY GOD I LOVE HER. She's hitting Gin where it hurts to give them more time. She has her mission, she said she'd never compromise it, but she won't let two innocents die in vain.
Shinichi internally: Get fucked Gin.
I FUCKING ADORE THEM.
I ADORE THEM AS WELL.
Vermouth saving Ai for a change. If only because she knows if they found the truth about her, they'd find the truth about Shinichi.
He adopted that expression from Kaito.
I don't know why I'm surprised to hear deep fake in Detective Conan.
Okay, Gosho, movie writers, women can have adam apples. Ran's bruise was enough to identify the man
SHE GETS TO BE AWESOME TWICE IN ONE MOVIE?! I LOVE THIS.
Lol but Shinichi, you wouldn't have been able to catch Ran in your normal body, you have not trained your arm muscles.
LOVE IT. BOTH OF THEM ARE IN DANGER.
AND HE IMMEDIATELY GOES TO MOCKING THE DUDE.
SHE CARES SO MUCH!
AND SHINICHI APOLOGISED TO HER! WHAT IS THIS MOVIE?! WHY IS IT WRITTEN SO WELL?! It's on par with the movie 23 because the writing is just incredible.
Amuro is worried about his son. Akai is also worried about his son.
SHINICHI HOLDING THE PHONES TOGETHER TO MAKE HIS DADS TALK IS HILARIOUS.
Awww, they put their differences aside to help their son.
Shinichi: I am down for doing something insane and dangerous.
I fucking love Vermouth fucking shit up while she's dressed in but a towel.
AND AI STILL HAS GREAT MOMENTS TO COME!
He lost everything to keep him alive and he still decided to fuck them up.
Akai earlier in the movie: A rifle won't work.
Akai's solution: I'll bring a rocket launcher.
R.I.P
And just like Shinichi wouldn't let Ai die, she won't let Shinichi die.
I ADORE THEM.
I love how Ran had a movie where she nearly drowned and Shinichi is like "hold my beer".
THIS IS SO GODDAMN ADORABLE. I see why this is the CoAi movie but I just appreciate their platonic bond with one another.
I don't appreciate the "kiss" comment, though. CPR isn't a kiss, it's to save a life.
Of course Shinichi has to show off one more time before the movie ends though.
RAN'S FIRST KISS WAS TO AI AND I LOVE IT.
Ai knows Ran is a lesbian and wanted to make sure she has her first kiss with a girl.
This really wasn't needed, especially because Ai didn't kiss Shinichi. She just wanted Ran's lips before him.
And Shinichi wasn't even that upset about it. He just looked confused with her XD
So the disguises that Vermouth and Kaito can create would fool the AI. Interesting.
AND IT BROUGHT BACK AI'S ACTIONS FROM THE START OF THE FILM WITH IT BEING VERMOUTH!
This movie was great. It's tied with number 23.

Along For The Ride | Graham Dunne x Reader
A/N: Y'all need to prepare yourselves, this is as devastating as it gets. Also the CHOKEHOLD this man has over me. I'm posting an alternate version of the same prompt sometime later today, I had two ideas that I just couldn't merge.
Warnings: Groupie lifestyle, angst, implied sex, drug use, alcohol consumption, smoking, OD
Daisy Jones and The Six Masterlist
Warren: Being on the road was fun, and it wasn't just because of the drugs and cheap booze. We had girls from thirty different directions coming at us. That had never happened before.
Eddie: The groupie scene was enjoyable, but I never really got into it. I'd see some of them, but I didn't take it to the level Warren or Graham did. One slept with every girl in a fifty mile radius and the other fell for one he couldn't have.
Warren: We had a few girls go to almost all of our concerts, at least the ones in the states. They couldn't all afford going overseas and we sure as hell weren't going to pay for it. There's no shortage of women who love a guy that can play the guitar, sing, or in my case, play the drums.
Eddie: Graham became infatuated with this one girl, Y/N, while we were touring. It was nice to see him actually get a girl, but he never shut up about it. It was enough to drive you crazy.
Graham: Y/N wasn't just a groupie. Not to me, at least. She was different.
Warren: The thing about groupies is that they only care about one thing: sex. I know from experience. That's not a complaint, by the way.
Graham: Y/N was only seventeen when I met her, and she had ready been through so much. I just wanted to help her.
Eddie: Graham thought he could "fix broken women". He was convinced. None of us had the heart to tell him that some women just don't want to be fixed.
Graham: She'd grown up loving music. In that way, she was just like us. The only difference is that she followed bands around. She got taken advantage of.
Warren: Y/N was a sweet girl. Easy on the eyes, had a fire to her. But she was sad. You could see it. Something wasn't right.
Graham: She sort of just melded right into the band. Started going on tours with us. She'd sit in the backseat with me, laying her head on my chest. It was a good feeling, being with a woman who saw you. Really saw you.
Eddie: Graham was caught up in his feelings for her. He didn't realize how self-destructive she was.
Graham: I found out she was addicted to coke not long after meeting her. She was doing lines in the bathroom while I slept in one of the hotels we were staying at. I begged her to stop, to think it through. I told her I'd be there to help her. She walked out.
Eddie: When I heard she had left, I wasn't surprised. That's what girls like her did. And when Graham told me what happened, I knew why she did.
Graham: I don't think anyone had ever told her they'd help her. It scared her.
Warren: It was quiet without her. Graham wasn't as chatty as he usually was, which was great for Billy, but it made tours boring.
Eddie: Graham started seeing Karen after Y/N left, something we didn't find out until much later. I think he was trying to heal from losing her. Not that he didn't love Karen, he did, but he was so lost. He really wanted to help her.
Graham: I found out she overdosed a few months after she left. I was devestated. The band had already split up, and music couldn't pull me out of that sinking feeling in my chest anymore.
Warren: I don't think he ever really got over her. Even now, she's in the back of his mind.
Graham: I started a foundation to help women struggling with addiction. We get them in counseling, room and board until they get a job that can support them, teach them life skills they may not have been taught when they were younger. It's all to prepare them for adulthood, even if theyre already in it.
Billy: One thing about Graham is that he's got a heart of gold. A part of me always knew it, but I never really acknowledged it. I'm proud of him, being able to turn something that overtook his mind into something that can help other women.
Graham: I don't want another girl's life lost to overdose or addiction. I don't think I could handle seeing it happen again. The band will always be an important part of my life, but I think the foundation is where my heart is.

Young Sheldon Series Finale: 7x14 Memoir
THE SHAMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😍😍😍🥰🥰🥰
Okay, so I have a lot of mixed feelings about this episode. I do not think it was very elegant in its execution, firstly, and secondly WE SERIOUSLY NEEDED MORE SHAMY LIKE WHAT THE HELL YOU GUYS IS THIS ALL WE ARE GOING TO GET OF SHAMY FOR LIFE??? Ugh! I was hyping myself up so so much about seeing married old couple Shamy, and don't get me wrong, it was amazing, but also in other ways disappointing. It seemed very limited in its emotional scope, and while I loved that it was brought home regarding Sheldon's relationship with his own son, it didn't quite reach the emotional heights they were going for, or at least what they could have gone for.
LIKE WHY COULDN'T WE HAVE SEEN SHELDON ACTUALLY INTERACT WITH HIS CHILDREN YOU GUYS WE WERE ROBBED 😩😩😩
AND SHELDON HAS A BABY GIRL AND WE DIDN'T EVEN GET TO SEE GIRL DAD SHELDON OR EVEN KNOW HER NAME I AM DEVESTATED
I know there was a limited time to the episode with them having to conclude all the storylines and everything, but they could have made this last episode an hour, would it have really killed them? It was like we were given a peep-sized hole view into Shamy's family life, and that was it! I wanted THE WHOLE PICTURE, I wanted to see it sprawling and majestic in all its beauty!!! UUUUUUUUUUUUGH!
Although, when Amy stepped towards Sheldon threateningly to get his cute ass into the shower and get ready for their son's game, I about lost it! OMG. Momma Amy don't play! And Sheldon cowered/flinched like he just KNEW to his bones that he crossed the line and lost the battle! (The blood was draining from the boy's face big time!! 😂😂😂) That was kind of hot not gonna lie... 🥵 *fans self* *swoons* *faints* But why did Amy get rid of all his nerdy shirts?? 😭 LET THE BOY LIVE HIS LIFE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! But we did get to see him in his cute cuddly robe most of the episode and then sporting his hot Dad-polo shirt! So that was something! 😍
Another aspect that I didn't like about this episode is how they handled the situation with Mary Cooper. I believe it is very truthful, unfortunately so, that those who are "adults" in our lives fail us at the times we need them the most, but I don't like how the episode tried to frame it in a good light. The fact that Mary Cooper essentially emotionally abandoned her children and was forcing them to get baptisms (spiritually abusive) was pretty messed up! The way that MeeMaw placed the burden of responsibility on Missy and Sheldon (children who the adults should be supporting during what is quite literally the worst time of their lives!!!) was also super messed up too! Yet none of this is called out for what it is, but instead the writers try to turn it into a special, warm fuzzy moment between mother and son! Nah, I'm not buying it. Especially since the relationship between Mary Cooper and Sheldon is so special to me. I really don't know what else they could done, but I don't believe they should have done any of that. It was a really weird and awkward note to end the series on, even if it was hilarious how Sheldon showed up to his baptism in his whole scuba outfit! (Made even more hilarious by the fact that we learn that despite all of that, he still got an ear infection! Oh son...)
Oh well. I guess it is what it is! I am still just trying to process it all. I will probably be watching the Shamy moments on repeat forever! And I guess go back to my headcanons...
Oh, final note: I was seriously thinking for a moment there that Sheldon Prime and young Sheldon were going to meet! I think that would have been kind of cool actually if we got Sheldon talking/interacting with Sheldon (particularly for the Iain and Jim interaction!), but maybe it would have been a bit too on the nose. Although, that is Sheldon's MO. Still, I really, really loved that final moment when Sheldon Prime walks through his house in his memory and then turns around and it flashes back to his younger self speaking to Missy. I actually think that "last" moment between Sheldon and Missy is achingly beautiful as he tells her that he has no choice but to remember her, and she just laughs at him smugly. *lays down cries cries a lot*

Was It Something I Said (to make you feel like you're a burden)
Day 15: Childhood Trauma | painful hug | moment of clarity | "I did good, right?"
So fun fact, I've actually had this one written out for a while. I just prefer posting on or after the day of the prompt tbh. I enjoyed writing it, and I like rereading it too tbh. Outsider POV is always fun to write :)
This is part of the Commander to Firelord Pipeline AU
If there's any AUs in particular anyone wants me to do, I do take requests lol
Hope you enjoy!
"…There is nothing I could do to make him proud, is there?"
Mai turned at the low whisper, in time to watch as a single tear slid down Azula's cheek. It was pretty, in a way, although out of place, catching the fading light as the sun set on the city below them. The trust was evident in this weakness, this crack Azula was letting Mai see, trusting her not to gouge into it.
Yet the beauty present didn't quite match with the devestation on Azula's face. More tears slipped out, silently dripping down, as Mai took her time to answer the question. Azula's trust was an honour to be given, she knew. Enough of an honour that Mai wasn't going to break it by hastily saying something she didn't really believe.
"I mean, I did so much for him. I sacrificed EVERYTHING! My health, my life… I threw away my brothers' trust, just for him!" Azula started ranting as Mai continued to not speak up. "I was perfect! I am the perfect commander to lead us all to victory!
"He couldn't ever see that though, could he?" Her voice lowered to a whisper again. "If I do anything wrong… Make a single mistake… He's just going to throw me away, isn't he? Or let me get killed?
"To him… I'm nothing. Just a good tool to be used and tossed when it doesn't work anymore,"
Azula sounded lost, and afraid. Like the young girl her appearance porttrayed her as, hiding the quick wit Mai knew she held within. It was such a stark contrast to how Azula usually was: calm, poised, and in control, with a poker face the spirits themselves would be envious of, with the only emotion being what Azula wanted to be shown.
But she was just a child, Mai was forcefully reminded. They both were, really. And right now, Azula wasn't the Princess of the Fire Nation. She was just a lost little girl, desperately wanting to be lied to. To be told that really, it would all be okay. That no, she was imaging things, her father did love her, that it wasn't her fault that her mother left.
But Mai wasn't that kind of person. She was blunt, and she didn't hide from the truth. If Azula had wanted reassurances and lies, she would have gone to Ty Lee, or some other person she still trusted, instead. She wouldn't have sought out Mai, brought her up to the roof of the Earth King's Palace, to have this conversation.
And wasn't that indication enough? Azula wasn't wanting the sweet lies and falsehoods, she wanted the truth. To be assured that she wasn't going crazy, that her fears weren't all in her head. Azula wanted Mai's bluntness, whether it be that she was imagining things, or that she wasn't, even if she didn't like it.
Mai was quiet, yes, but it left her to notice more than others did, and she didn't mince her words. Azula had always appreciated the blunt hammer to any silky lies.
"No, you can't," Mai eventually said, moving one of her hands over Azula's in a gesture of comfort. "I don't know if he could be proud of anyone. I'm sorry, Azula,"
A hiccupping sob left Azula's mouth at Mai's confirmation. No other sounds left her, although her shoulders started shaking, and her tears spilled out faster than before. Tellingly, she didn't remove her hand from Mai's however. The rest of Azula's face didn't change, despite the tears definitely misting up her vision, as she stared out at the last few rays of the sun.
"But I did good, right?"
Mai didn't have to think about her answer this time. "Of course you did"

Who are your fav persona 3 people!!!
[cracks knuckles] I'm glad you asked
So! I don't actively /dislike/ anyone in the p3 cast, but some of them definitely speak to me more than others:
First things first: Ryoji. Love that guy. He's so silly. And so tragic. And he makes me sad. (Like holy SHIT I wasn't expecting a reprise of his song in the stage play on December 31st but it TOOK ME OUT) (also Ryomina my love)
The whole Shinji, Ken, and Akihiko trio ALSO lives in my head rent free... two idiots and their son. love them. I've been desperately scouring for Akishinji content and between that, Ryomina, and Shuake, I've come to realise that my shipping habits seem to boil down to "doomed yaoi" HAHA
More on Ken, I have a LOT of thoughts about how he and Akechi would interact and (likely) get along. Whether that be in the p5 era or a situation a la Throw Away Your Mask. (Or, something I've yet to find: Akechi with no time travel shenanigins getting in on the p3 plot. You can bet THAT'S a longfic idea I've got rattling around) (Also the half-brothers headcanon is super fun. Especially when combined with Futago siblings. Congratulations, Shido! All your kids are persona users, and they all hate you! :D)
Aigis! She's just. Infinitely charming. She'll say something that will absolutely take me out and then turn around and say something devestating HAHA. I also think that her and Ryoji's social link and linked episodes respectively do a LOT of thematic work in the story. Death himself and the girl that can't die, both trying to figure out how to live (y'all that shit's METAL)
Strega are so interesting to me... I don't think they're perfect villains- I think their motivation is underexplored and a bit choppy, but ASIDE from that, I really like all three of them as characters. Idk why Jin is so funny to me LMAO he's so in love with Takaya and Takaya's just like "k. met your quota yet?" (But, also, some of Takaya's lines definitely imply that he cares about Jin too, but doesn't let himself acknowledge that at all due to his whole "attachments are weakness" shtick, another thematic point to contest his ideology, as he is actively denying himself happiness in pursuit of some idea of salvation)
Chidori- I like her well enough. Some of her lines really did make me smile, but I think she's another case of "underdeveloped" (I actually read Throw Away Your Mask before I played p3r, so that fic did a lot of the heavy lifting for my like of Chidori (and, by extension, Jundori) i think)
Which leads nicely into: Junpei! He's da man. Nuff' said. HAHA if you can't tell, I love Junpei. Awkward dudebro stuff aside (though it's occasionally part of his charm), I really love his development and personality in general. I really love how all the "bro" characters across the modern three persona games, while fulfilling the same archetype, are all distinct in personality and motivation and I love them ALL
Mitsuru is quite interesting to me, but I think she might be a case of "I wish her social link was about something else". Personal preference of course, but I kind of wish that it focused more on this intense guilt she seems to have for things that a) weren't her fault, and b) happened when she was 7 or younger. THAT is a super interesting mindset to explore, imo, though I did find her social ineptitude charming haha
Yukari... I think that she might grow on me more later. I can feel it in my bones. I suppose I'll find out with The Answer dlc! I know broadly what happens in it, but I haven't actually seem a playthrough of it, nor do I really know what happens to all the characters. I think my opinion of Yukari might have been tainted slightly by everyone having such strong opinions HAHA- I definitely like her, but I don't think she's clicked just yet. (I did really like her social link, though!) (also Yukamitsu I love Yukamitsu. The lesbians aren't doomed! Good for them)
Okay this is going to upset some people probably but Koromaru isn't really much of a character and I keep forgetting about him LMAO. uh. he's a good boy?
Fuuka... I really think that she's just underdeveloped. Her social link didn't really do her any favours in my eyes (I'm SO glad that atlus cut the "girl learns to cook" social link in p5 HAHA i really didn't like it with Yukiko either) Her social link obviously isn't just the cooking shenanigins, but it overshadows the bits of character growth that happen intermittently. I think that her SL really would have benefitted from being more about her love of electronics, if anything, since that isn't explored AT ALL and is more a plot device than a character trait. (Plus, the root of all her self-esteem issues go unadressed, which I think would have been a good character beat otherwise) (In saying this I think Fuuka/Natsuki is very cute. The lesbians stay winning in p3)
Makoto/Minato! Honestly, I was pretty neutral towards him from the majority of the fics I had read before playing p3r. I really like his characterisation in Throw Away Your Mask and The Twilight Wants Him Back, but those had been outliers in my mind. I started liking him more and more after playing p3r, and NOW, after having watched 1/4 of the p3 movies- oh boy. boy oh boy. I really like him now HAHA. Having his apathy actually effect his realtionships with SEES early on is super interesting and I love when it's done. (plus, I think Yukari hating him at first really strengthens their friendship later on)
Uh this post is already super long so for all the other plot-relavant characters and confidants I'm just gonna say "it's a secret" and melt into a bush or something
(tysm for the ask! You can tell I was waiting for an excuse to talk about this HAHA)
(btw y'all shoud read the fics I mentioned in this- they're excellent)
#persona 3#persona 3 reload#persona 3 spoilers#asks#The lesbians really are winning in p3#good for them... good for them!#HAHA anyways I'm DEFINITELY going to write these characters at some point#long post#loooong post#whoops

That’s so valid about Owen. “I’m gonna go annoy my kids now”
And there was something so squishy about the 3 of them being a lil family unit now 🥹
I'm sure whoever you are, dear sweet nonny, you threw this in here knowing I would likely meta on about it.
And I've been thinking about the end scenes nearly all day.
I'm notoriously interested in Owen as a character. He's a facinating character who, like his son, has had his life scarred by loss. Owen's whole raison d'etre is saving his brother. It's why saving that one little girl from drowning sent him into a life focused on saving others. Then he lost his entire firehouse in 9/11, and slowly lost other survivors of 9/11 to cancer and mental health disorders.
Then, he has to bring his son back from the dead and moves him to Texas in an attempt to save his life and restart, all while diagnosed with cancer. We lose Tim Rosewater which sets Owen into deep levels of depression and guilt, because he'll never be able to keep the promise that everyone who starts a shift goes home at the end of it.
Gwyn is in town, and they're still in love and he's working on making it work. They're gonna have a baby and Owen has a redo. He's got a chance to do it RIGHT this time. Because Owen's fatal flaw is always believing if things had been different, if he had been better, if he'd beena moment sooner: maybe he could have fixed things. He had a whole speech to that effect in last night's episode, where he figured if he'd known about 9/11 ahead of time that he could have prevented his whole team from dying.
Then the baby's not his and Gwyn leaves and whatever Owen managed to cobble together of his mental health for Gwyn and teh baby disipates and there's a lot of very classic PTSD/depressive/anxiety things that come up in Owen.
And then we lose Gwyn which is devestating to everyone but Owen soldiers on for TK, but he's...not doing well, at all. He finally gets his ass to therapy and even though we see him make some progress he's still keeping TK at a distance. Mostly because TK's doing well and Owen CANT be Captain Save a Ho for TK in these moments. He does crop up (usually) when TK's struggling, but only when there's something TO DO.
This episode marked a change.
Owen, in talking with O'Brien, who is giving a speech pretty reminicent of Owen's own speeches, about how he made a promise and he didn't keep it because look at this awful thing that happened, and Owen manages to give solid reasoning to be like "Look, he's alive and his son's alive and that's something."
And then it's like the lightbulb goes off in Owen's brain as O'Brien takes off after his great nephew - that Owen is indeed alive, and his son is also alive, and that's something. He may not have saved everyone but he saved TK.
Then, Owen goes and picks up food (which is really one of Carlos and TK's main love langauges, is feeding people - TK does it with takeout because he shouldn't be in the kitchen) and brings it over. But he doesn't just pick up any take out, he picks up the chinese food that TK introduced Gwyn to that they used to eat as a family.
I take this to be significant in multiple ways:
One, the Gwyneth Morgan of it all. Owen picked something that was a family thing and brought it over. Which is a very significant thing to do.
Two, it's one of the few times that food is involved and Owen doesn't mention the healthy/unhealthy nature of the food. Look, I could probably write a whole disertation on why Owen Strand, who has survived 21 1/2 years post 9/11 is obsessed with his health, but nearly every interaction with food, Owen has a coment about it. He doesn't make a single comment about this round of chinese food. I lied, he doesn't mention it in 3.08 either. But that's in the wake of grief, and maybe here Owen's still living in it.
Three, ordering chinese is very clearly TK's comfort meal. Look, a lot of us who are neurospicy joke about TK being neurospicy. And when you are neurospicy, there are certain foods that are..."safe" or an instant "yes" all the time. And we default to them often. I know when I'm struggling when I'm like "It's a comfort food day." (I have a rotation) but it eliminates decision fatigue and the need to emotionally regulate if it's not exactly what you wanted. Chinese food has a connection to Gwyn, and comfort and it comes up a lot when TK's stressed. (Even in 3.03, when Carlos doesn't come home, TK ordered chinese for them)
And then Owen does something he hasn't done...at all...since TK moved out (maybe they did when they moved into Owen's house and I don't know where they had chinese in 3.08) but Owen shows up at their place to share a meal with them.
And it's significant because TK and Carlos have invited him over for many meals between seasons 2 and 3, and Owen never accepts. Or, in the case of 2.11, Owen accepts and then goes off to catch an arsonist instead, which could be his hero complex but could also be a general avoidance of things that are uncomfortable for Owen, like TK growing up and not needing Owen anymore.
For as much as Owen has been an absent father for various parts of TK's life, because of his PTSD and trauma and general *waves hands* Owenness, Owen is a loving dad who would do just about anything for his son. We know this, we've watched him do it. But Carlos is also a competent control freak who Owen trusts implicitly with TK's life on numerous occasions. I do believe there's a big part of Owen's psyche that doesn't know what to do if he's not NEEDED.
But at the end of 4.06, he shows up, with chinese food, which is not needed because TK and Carlos already made a beautiful dinner and are looking very handsome, but he comes in and tells TK that he's proud of him, again. And you know, not trying to blow people up is a very low bar, but you know, TK clears it. And then they stay and have dinner, and Owen inserts himself in his son's life, not because TK needs him, but because Owen WANTS to be there, and that's such a drastic change for these two.
I love that Carlos and TK bring him in. Look, we could punish Owen for his mistakes and transgressions, but that's never been who TK is and this is his last living biological parent (Enzo forever) and TK loves him. And Carlos loves TK and respects Owen and wants them to have a good relationship.
And I cannot wait for Owen to "do what he does best" (owen's words) and be a pain in their asses about this wedding.
