i think we don't talk about what the driving force behind each batcher is enough. like if u think abt it hunter often acts out of fear ( not cowardice , fear that his ppl will get hurt duh ) , while crosshair often acts out pain , tech acts with logic , wrecker with love , and echo ? echo acts out of being true hater

Happy ARC Trooper Thursday! Echo and his true love, Aiko. They’re both such gentle souls, and she’s been good for him, helping him through all his lingering insecurities (as an Aquatic Empath, she is very good at understanding him). Took them a very long time to reveal their feelings for each other, both a bit shy and uncertain. But together they are unstoppable 🥰💚💕

For the first month after Echo joins the batch he’s lowkey convinced Crosshair is trying to kill him. Mainly bc Crosshair follows him everywhere and glares in his general direction, pops up anywhere he is, chews on toothpicks at him, and is generally a bit overbearing. It’s only after he overhears Wrecker tease Crosshair about ‘imprinting on Echo’ that he even realizes that this man is a protective oversized cat who can’t vocalize anything but will instead trot after him to every room, sit quietly next to him, and bring him cool rocks he found as if they’re the product of a successful hunt.
Echo brings Crosshair the next pack of novelty toothpicks he finds.

The Bad Batch
Here's a little theory for you to mull over; I sincerely wonder whether I am alone in thinking this. I could also be heavily exhausted over and influenced by the papers I had to polish off for some of my college courses, or perhaps motivated by the fact that I am re-watching The Bad Batch because most modern shows these days, in my opinion, disappoint. At any rate, here it is.
Why do we like the Bad Batch so much? What makes them relatable and/or realistic?
Upon meeting Omega, most of the Bad Batch behave in a very dad-like manner. This is not surprising, no. Plenty of memes and incorrect quotes have stemmed from this simple observation. They don't have all the answers and they don't know what to do with Omega half the time. That's the thing about dads... usually, they're just "winging it" and trying to do their best. Moms come with a built-in instinct to nurture. Dads come with a built-in instinct to protect and lead. Sometimes, dads aren't quite sure what to do with a crying infant or a struggling teenager.
Let's not forget... Hunter and the others are soldiers. That isn't to say they can't be kind or gentle; even the toughest men have their weak points. As a military brat, though, I have noticed that such a profession can mold a man, and at times they forget to "turn off" their seriousness when at home after having dealt with extremely hard situations. I really appreciate that the producers of this show didn't change Hunter and the others just to make them more approachable from Omega's standpoint. If they do change, it's gradual.
Do Hunter and the others think about the consequences of bringing Omega into their lives? *eyeballs toothpick man* With exceptions, of course. Well, until season three. The answer? Absolutely not. They believe they have the strength and ability to keep her safe, as most dads would. They believe they will always have that strength and ability. Let me break it down for you and give you a look into the brain of a dad:
Dad: *involved in a dangerous situation*
Dad: I can do that.
Dad: *remembers their child is with them*
Dad: Oh. Well, I guess becomes a life lesson. I've got you, kid. Just... don't tell your mom.
Dad: *keeps an eye out for anything suspicious*
Kid: *perfectly content*
I've heard it said that dads don't say "I love you" but show they love you. I personally have experienced both, but given the seriousness of most dads... I can see how that would be the case. At the very least, their actions speak louder than words. The Bad Batch are very much this way towards Omega. They put their lives on the line. They want to make her happy. Wrecker assembles a spot for Omega to call her own on the Marauder. Tech grabs her before an explosion can reach them. Echo has hugged Omega the most. Hunter is usually within three feet of Omega at all times.
The subtle gestures of kindness captivated all our hearts, I know.
Why?
It's Star Wars, a fictional universe. It's not complete fiction, though. Hunter and the others represent a specific kind of love. Fathers may be cautious and unsure at first, but eventually they want the kid by their side for everything. We've all seen the videos of dads using infants as pretend machine guns or making them dance, the kid's neck rolling lazily. Gently, of course. If they can't protect the kid from everything, they use themselves as a shield, which extends to good mothers, too, though that's not what this post is about.
Hunter and the others may be soldiers, but they embody the very spirit of fatherhood. This was such a wonderful theme to see develop despite the grittiness and action.
Phew, I feel like there was more I wanted to say, but I'm tired, so you're spared from more rambling.

I just have this HC that the Batch as a whole have terrible self-care until they get Echo, and he slowly forces them to fix it.

Established wrecker relationship with a newborn and lots of fluff and cuddles.
Bundle of Joy
Wrecker x Reader
Summary- Wrecker is scared he might hurt your newborn baby. You reassure him he won't, and that he is a good father.
A/N- Warning for descriptions of birth! Thank you for requesting! I love this prompt, Wrecker would be so careful with a tiny baby!
Word Count- 1,344
Tumblr media
You weren't due for another week, you were supposed to be on Pabu for your delivery. With lots of midwives and doctors who had helped with past births. That just wasn't in the cards for you though.
Tech made an emergency landing on the closest inhabitable planet he could find. There was no time to get to Pabu, and it wasn't safe to jump into hyperspace while in labor.
You screamed loud, gripping the closest thing as tight as you could. Unlucky for Wrecker- it was his hand. You were insanely nervous, nothing was going according to plan. Wrecker was doing little to help, he was freaking out himself.
You took deep breaths the second your contraction was over. Wrecker swept hair out of your face and rubbed your arm, trying his best to keep you calm.
"We have landed." Tech called back, a green hue cast over the ship. Whatever planet you landed on was either abandoned or had a low population.
"I'm scared Wrecker." You breathed in again, "How am I going to have this baby on a shi-" You cut yourself off, screaming in pain as a new contraction hit.
You reached over, hitting Wrecker on the arm. "You are never touching me again, I cannot believe I married you!" You yelled at him. Pain clouded your thoughts.
"I know, I know, I'm sorry!" He worried, also frightened on what would happen. You were on an abandoned planet with no doctor!
Hunter and Omega also sat close by, getting everything you requested. Omega had refreshed a cold rag a dozen times now, and promptly placed Lula by your side.
Tech and Echo talked in the Cock-pit, you didn't know what about. Though it dulled the pain to think on what it was.
"What do you need?" Omega sweetly asks after you stop screaming.
"I need to know the plan." Inhale, exhale, "What's going to happen?"
"I do not know why everyone is freaking out. I am fully equipped to deliver a child." Tech chimes in, that must have been what they were talking about.
His words did bring you comfort, as your original plan involved Tech being there to make sure everything was going by the book.
"Get her on the floor, bring lots of pillows. We need her slightly elevated." Tech took over shortly after he made sure the ship was settled.
Hunter brought Omega outside after you started spewing insults and profanities to Wrecker. You were a completely different person when in pain.
Echo stayed on board to make sure Wrecker didn't do anything stupid, and to help Tech if needed.
About an hour later, screaming, hitting, and pushing- your baby girl was born.
"It's a girl."
You panted heavily, "Give her to me Tech, please." Tech immediately grabbed his knife and cut the front of your shirt open.
"Hey! Wha-" Wrecker was confused, only seeing Tech ripping your top off.
"Wrecker, it's so the baby can feel her skin." Echo informed, holding Wrecker back slightly.
Tech rested the child on your chest, then moved back down to cut the umbilical cord.
You gasped and gently held her to your chest. "Oh thank you Makers, thank you!" You had tears running down your face, slowly caressing your baby's cheek.
"Wrecker, come here. Some see your daughter." You waved him over, all of a sudden regretting your snide comments made earlier.
He joined your side quickly, resting his large palm on the top of your sweaty head. "She's perfect..."
He lowered his head, face only an inch from the baby's. "She looks just like you..."
You sniffled a laugh, "She looks like a potato right now, Wreck."
"No, look. She has your eyes." Just as he said that, she peaked an eye open, looking at her father for the first time.
"Sweet baby." You commented.
"Hey, i'm sorry about what I said earlier. I didn't know what I was saying." You apologized, not wanting Wrecker to think he was purposefully the cause of your pain.
"You did such a good job." He gave a loud chuckle, "I was more scared than you!"
You smiled at him.
"Have Wrecker hold the baby, you have to pass the placenta now." Tech pressed down on your stomach, moving the placenta down.
"Here, Wrecker." You slowly lifted her to him. His face dropped, he was terrified.
"It's okay, she's tiny but strong." You assured him.
"Uh, I don't know..." He breathed heavily.
Your face screwed in pain again, though not near as bad as before.
"Wrecker!"
"Okay, okay." He picked her up, as softly and carefully as a man his size could muster, He was shaking in fear he would hurt her. She was just so small.
Wrecker had a past of knocking over or accident breaking things, he was just so big. He forgot sometimes. He certainly did not forget now. He watched the child like a hawk.
It didn't take long before Tech finished helping you pass the placenta. Immediately after you were able to, Wrecker passed her back into your arms.
After a moment of silence and the four of you admiring the baby, Echo chimed in.
"Tech and I will give you some space." He guided the two of them outside of the ship, with Hunter and Omega.
"Wrecker, it's okay. She's fine." You looked up into the eyes of the man that had made you forever happy.
"What are we going to name her?" He said, effectively changing the conversation.
You huffed, but figured you could talk to him about holding her later. "What about Myla?" You asked.
"Perfect." He said, once again leaning down to get a good look at her. He held his finger out, tickling the baby's foot.
A few minutes later, you sent Wrecker to get everyone. You knew Omega would be beaming to see the baby.
"What is it, what is it! Tech wouldn't tell!" She practically bounced in, but slowed down when she came to your side.
"Meet Myla, your niece."
"She's so beautiful." She said, leaning on her arm while admiring the baby.
Wrecker smiled at the scene.
It had been an uneventful flight home, you were in overprotective mode. Even though you trusted everyone on the ship with your life, you didn't let anyone else hold Myla. She slept the whole way back.
You and Wrecker decided to settle down in your home on Pabu that was pre-prepared for this day. Many of the Pabu citizens already knew of the birth, but gave you your space.
You sat up in your bed, Myla cradled in your arms. She quickly fell asleep after being fed. Wrecker joined you, being overly careful in getting under the sheets.
"Do you want to hold her?" You asked, looking at him sit up next to you.
"Oh uh, I don't want to wake her. Probably best if you just hold her." You sighed at this. Your hormones were still wack, and you teared up at his answer.
"What's wrong, what'd I do?" He softly asked, a hand coming to your arm.
You sniffled, taking a few breathes before speaking "Why won't you hold her?"
"I don't want to hurt Myla." He said, nervous for your response.
You blinked, readjusting Myla in your arms. "Wrecker, I promise you will be okay. She is tough, just like her daddy."
He looked at her, still unsure. "Look, just take her. if anything happens i'm right here."
You raised your arms, handing her over. She 'cooed' but stayed asleep.
"See, she knows you're her dad." You rubbed your face on his arm, wrapping your arms around him. He was tense, caught up in the feeling of holding her.
"Move your arm up a little." You guided him, but it soon felt natural for him.
A deep breath left him lips. He was finally comfortable.
"Not so bad huh?"
With a swallow he answered, "The two most perfect girls in the world."
You nuzzled further into his side, trusting his hold on Myla.
"Thank you for giving me this..."
A/N- Thank you so much for reading!

I went into this on Twitter but I’m gonna go into again bc I don’t have a character limit over here 🧚
THE SYMBOLISM OF CROSSHAIR LOSING HIS HELMET.
Tumblr media
he’s had this helmet since Aftermath. It was one of our first introductions to Imperial Crosshair and the things he was willing to do (and was at first forced to do) to get ahead and be seen as someone important to a higher cause. It represented his loyalty *screams* to the empire and the new goals he had that ended up separating him from the Batch in the s1 finale.
Tumblr media
and WHEN HE LOSES IT??? practically every trace of imperial Crosshair is gone too. he doesn’t care if Mayday is dead weight or not, he’s going to get him back to base or die trying. he doesn’t care about what the empire wants anymore. he doesn’t care about being a good soldier. he doesn’t care about orders. he’s more himself than he has been since the chip activated god only knows how long ago. he’s throwing everything to the wind because he cares, because he doesn’t want to be alone again, because he sees too much of the people he cares about *COUGHS* HUNTER AND CODY *COUGHS* in his brother and he can’t stand to lose him too. and then he does anyway. and Crosshair is so done and so broken that he’s literally willing to probably be executed for treason just to avenge Mayday’s death. he was ready to die right there on that godforsaken outpost and he’s not a commander anymore he’s barely even a soldier anymore it’s just. Crosshair. all alone. all over again

Bad Batch As Things My Parents Do While Driving
Hunter- Will hit a curb at full speed and will be like “that curb just came out of nowhere!”
Wrecker- Playing music at full blast and singing or at least nodding/dancing along
Tech- Gets oddly personal and creative when roasting other drivers that are irritating him
Crosshair- Gets mad and calls another driver a “stupid fuck” or a “stupid fucking fuck”
Echo- Randomly drops some insane lore or knowledge in the middle of the car ride.
Omega- Points out all the doggies

Can’t wait to see what you come up with!! 🩵
Hello love @coffeeandbatboys!

I hope I did this song justice and I hope I did Fives justice too.
Love oo!
My Girl
Warnings: Not really any, except for feelings, maybe. I'm not sure. Anyway, if I do miss anything, please let me know.

Fives didn’t understand it the first time it happened. He’d just joined the 501st, he stood in the hangar after receiving the medal ceremony, when the whole world went quiet and all he could hear was the sound of his own heartbeat.
Boom-boom-boom
Boom-boom-boom
Boom-boom-boom
It had a rhythm of its own, a song that called out to him in the quiet. He closed his eyes and shook his head and just like that, the world came to the fore again. He’d been concerned he had picked something up on the Rishi outpost, when he went to Kix for a physical everything came back clean.
The second time it happened, was when he entered the mess hall, his breathing caught in his throat, and his eyes focused on you as you laughed at another trooper’s jokes.
Boom-boom-boom
Boom-boom-boom
Boom-boom-boom
He shook his head again, and the world came back. Echo tapped his shoulder, making sure he was alright, Fives didn’t know how to respond. Of course, he was alright. At least he hoped he was.
The third time it happened was when you actually directed your smile towards him. The whole world shut out except for that familiar rhythm and your voice. It was a voice that made his whole world brighter, it pushed away his grief, his worries. It was a voice that filled his whole world with sweetness, as long as he heard your voice everything else was fine.
“Fives!” You called to me, as he just stared at you, you waved your hand in front of his face. “Hey! You okay?”
Fives shook himself out of his thoughts, “Yeah, yeah” he closed his eyes and shook his head, “Sorry, I think I got too used to being on the Rishi moon. It’s taking me some time to get acclimatized to the ship’s gravity.”
You nodded, “I understand, I had a hard time at first when I had to be on a ship full time. Anyway, you came to ask me about making some adjustments to your blaster?”
“Yeah. I was wondering if we could make the grip thinner by a few micrometers.”
“Hmmm, let me see.” You took his blaster, humming as you worked.
Fives became lost in your humming, it was soothing, and full of sweetness. How was that possible? How could it be that just your smile, your voice, even your humming made his world seem perfect?
“What are you humming?”
“Hmmm?” You glanced up to him as you were making notes on your datapad.
“What’re you humming?”
“Oh, it’s a song my dad used to sing all the time. I don’t why but lately I can’t get the song out of my head.”
“Sounds like a nice song.”
“It is. It’s about a guy who has this girl, that makes everything better. Even if it’s cloudy, there’s sun, because she’s there. When it’s cold, he doesn’t feel it because he has her.” You smirked at how ridiculous the lyrics really were, “He goes on to compare how bees are jealous of him because he has so much honey, or how the birds’ song is nothing compared to the song he sings. It’s all because of his girl. It’s sweet, but a little ridiculous.”
You answered your eyes focused on the blaster, as you kept making notes, “Well, from what I can see, I think it’s doable to slim down the grip, but the weight will be off, because it’ll be top heavy, so I’ll have to trim down the barrel as well, to balance out the weight.”
“Why is it ridiculous?”
“Huh?” You looked back into those warm brown eyes that every clone trooper seemed to have, but his were different. His eyes held a sense of responsibility, a sense of mischievous, but very kind eyes.
“Why is it ridiculous? I mean isn’t it possible that someone’s world gets turned on its head because of someone else?”
You don’t know why but you felt your heart flutter at his statement, “You saying you’ve had your world turn on its head because of someone?”
“What if it did?”
“Then you’re very lucky, not everyone can experience that.”
He moved closer leaning against the work bench as he kept his eyes on you, “Maybe you just need to listen to your own heartbeat.”
In that moment, the world went quiet for the both of you, all that could be heard were your two hearts beating as one.
Boom-boom-boom
Boom-boom-boom
Boom-boom-boom
Suddenly your world seemed brighter with him there.
