Right, what would have been the chances of Wren playing the real long game with Daniel if he didn’t manage to call for help with his old communicator, and fully pretend to eventually break and fall for him just to literally stab him when he’s asleep in bed next to him? Bonus points if Wren then calls Berkeley over with Daniel’s communicator and ambushes him when he brings him supplies, and then leaves HIM tied up outside for the planet’s beasts to eat.
(Sorry I do think they’d both deserve it, and I do love myself a vengeful whumpee)
Wren would probably do that, to Daniel at least!Pretending to be Daniel's loving partner would make his skin crawl, but it would he worth it in his eyes and Daniel would let his guard down, especially if Wren accepted his proposal as well. Wren would be scared to make his move and kill Daniel, knowing that if he failed he would most likely lose his hand and he'd never get another chance again. He'd be so relieved after succeeding.
I can see him ambushing Berkeley, tying him up, maybe muzzling him as well and tasing him a few times, but I don't think he'd kill him, just give him a good scare. Wren thinks that facing the consequences of his actions alive is a way better punishment for Berkeley, as tempting as getting his revenge quickly seems.

Whumptober Day 15
Childhood Trauma - Painful Hug - Moment of Clarity - "I did good, right?"
Warning descriptions of nail pulling and finger breaking. Child abuse.
"Whumpee, I need you to look up at me", Caretaker gently took Whumpee's hand into their own lap and set it on a towel.
Whumpee's lip quivered as they slowly looked at Caretaker.
"It's alright," Caretaker promised, "I'm just going to trim your nails. They're growing a little jagged now."
Whumpee nodded worriedly.
"I'm not going to do anything else", Caretaker reminded, "if I need to file them down to shape them, then I will let you know. This will not hurt at all."
Whumpee nodded again.
Caretaker checked in regularly with Whumpee as they snipped away the mishapened nails for Whumpee.
"You're doing so good", Caretaker smiled.
"Thankyou", Whumpee whispered.
"I know you don't like to talk about it, and I completely understand. I'm always curious why your nails grow so oddly", Caretaker tried to keep the conversation going to help Whumpee stay relaxed, "I don't really know a lot about you still. You've left a lot out about you past, and thats fine, but do you think I'd be better at helping you if I know a little more."
Whumpee sniffled as they thought about what to say. They shook as they handed over their other hand for Caretaker to trim.
"I uhm had a fun day with my step mom. My parents had separated when I was young. My dad remarried, but my mom grew jealous and hateful... and vengeful. I went home with her after my visit with my dad. We got our nails done during that fun day with my step mom. They were so pretty. I got sparkly pink nails... I loved them so much", Whumpee paused to take a deep breath, "my mom didn't like them... in fact she hated them. She pulled them off saying that I was a horrible child for having this done.... for having fun.... without her. She still wasn't happy, even with my nail beds bleeding. She pulled each of my fingers back until they snapped."
Caretaker was both shocked and horrified as they listened.
Whumpee continued, "the police were called for a child screaming. Apartment walls are only so thick."
Whumpee looked down at their hands, "I haven't had my nails done in years. The doctors all said they wouldn't grow back right", Whumpee let out a small sob, "my dad and step mom took me in, but no matter what they did. I never wanted my hands touched again. They use to take me to the doctors to have my nails cut until it became too much. That's why I was put into medical care and you got stuck with me."
"Whumpee I am so sorry" Caretaker sighed. This hadn't been fully documented in Whumpee's notes. Not yet, at least. They would update later while Whumpee took their nap. "I promise I don't feel stuck at all."
Whumpee kept their eyes on the floor.
"Are you feeling okay", Caretaker set the nail clippers aside, "that was a lot to talk about."
Whumpee nodded, "it hurts to talk about it. All of it. My mom didn't love me, and my dad couldn't handle me. Why did it take a complete stranger to show me acceptance. Am I really that bad... that hard to love?"
Caretaker hurried to get closer to Whumpee. They let the nails and towel fall to the floor.
"You are not hard to love and accept Whumpee", Caretaker pulled Whumpee into their arms, "sometimes people lack the compassion aspect of helping others. Without that, most people have a hard time caregiving. Others sometimes get in over their head. Helping someone they love... thinking they would get better, but it may never happen or it happens differently than they expected. They may grow upset or mad, thinking they've done something wrong. They love you. They just didn't understand that these things take time. They gave up too early. I, for one, am very happy that you are in my care."
"I still don't want to see them", Whumpee whispered, "I don't feel loved by them. I'm thankful for you though."
"You don't have to see them. That is completely your choice. I support whatever you choose", Caretaker promised, "is there anything you need from me to help you. You were holding a lot inside. Do you feel overwhelmed or uncomfortable."
Whumpee shook their head no, "can we stay hugging for a little while longer? It feels good."
"Yes absolutely. We can hug for as long as you want, and whenever you want."
Whumpee cautiously peaked in on Caretaker later that night.
"Oh Whumpee. You're still awake", Caretaker leaned forward in their chair, "did you need me?"
Whumpee looked down before taking a deep breath, "I did good, right? Please tell me I did good today. I really need to hear it."
Caretaker smiled lovingly at Whumpee.
"Whumpee, you did great today. I promise", Caretaker stood and walked toward Whumpee, "you did so good."
"Thankyou", Whumpee smiled weakly, having assurance is comforting."
"I know Whumpee", Caretaker wrapped them in a hug, "I know."
Whumpee buried their face into Caretaker's stomach, "thankyou."
"You're welcome."

🖤 Dark, Cathartic Whump 🖤
I just want to talk about the stuff that feels almost too dark to write yet so important. It feels like an actual drug sometimes. It hits so hard that you feel dizzy for a second and then you feel such a sense of urgency that you can hardly sit still - at least, I do. These are the kinds of whump that leave me thinking afterwards, wanting to go hug my real loved ones, and reflecting on what makes this life good even though it contains so much suffering. (Spoilers: the answer is genuine love and connection.) It makes my brain start screaming, "LIVE! LIVE! LIVE! LIVE! LIFE IS WONDERFUL!" to both myself and everyone around me.
TW: physical abuse, emotional abuse, drugs/OD, SA aftermath, suicide, sh, passing out, rocky/difficult recovery. DDNE
Whumpee being flat-out beaten within an inch of their life, especially by a parent, and not even fighting back.
Whumpee being emotionally abused or gaslit, especially by someone they trusted. Being told the worst possible things about themselves until they're reduced to a sobbing mess.
Whumpee caught in a suicide attempt and fighting back against those who try to stop them. The agonizing conversations and suicide watch that follow.
Whumpee openly sobbing in genuine despair or grief. Inconsolable, yet someone is trying to console them anyway, and it DOES matter.
Whumpee overdosing in an attempt to feel something good when they've been addicted for so long that nothing feels good anymore.
Whumpee facing the aftermath of assault and dissociating violently. The desire to leave the body at any price.
Whumpee severely self-harming in a blind rage that looks almost like a tantrum. Needing to be restrained or calmed down.
Whumpee passing out from shock after something traumatic happens. No time to process, no copings skills that can keep up with how bad that was. They're going to wake up with PTSD.
And rescue. Rescue from all of that. A rescue that involves freedom and trust and long term solutions as much as dependence. A rescue that puts Whumpee's needs above everything, including Caretaker's concern, and demonstrates trust in their ability to heal and live independently again. It would be so easy to incapacitate Whumpee "for their own good," to place blame on them and to expect a lot from them during recovery. Because this hurts to watch. But Caretaker loves them and will make every effort to respect their will and their consent. Caretaker knows it will be necessary to face extreme empathetic pain for Whumpee's sake, and just share that pain with them, and listen. It will be hard. Good. That's an outlet for the vengeful protectiveness that is quickly becoming uncontainable.

Hai hai hai how are youuuuu and am very very happy to be you friend WOHOOOOOOOO HDHDHFHFHF Okie I got question what whump tropes are your fav
I’ve been asking myself that question for the past year, lol. The list has definitely been growing with the new tropes I’ve discovered. I’m probably going to list them when I remake my Masterlist, but I’ll use this to start figuring out the ones I like.
Kidnapping/ Held Captive:
This is what started me on my whump journey. I’ve always been obsessed with movies and stories that had scenarios that involved this.
Torture (physical and emotional):
Love interrogations with torture, even just unwarranted torture that leaves the Whumpee helpless and groveling. Making threats of torture and hearing them beg. Begging gives me hard whumperflies.
Giant/Tiny:
This one is recent. I’m starting to love the dynamic of a small whumpee being trapped and helpless against a large Whumpee. Like a cat and a mouse situation. Even caretaker having to be delicate with Whumpee.
Pet whump:
This one is new too, but I think it’s more because I like the side of it where Whumpee gets punished and wants to be forgiven by their master so badly. Or even a defiant Whumpee that doesn’t want a master at all but they better listen if they want to live. Im not too big on like the sexual pet side where they need to do intimate favors and that’s the entire dynamic. That’s not to say I don’t like a little nsfw if it’s written well 🤭.
Whumper turned Whumpee:
Omg when I tell you I eat this shit up, I’m not even kidding lmao. Just the satisfaction of knocking whumper off their pedestal and giving them a taste of their own medicine gives me whumperflies every time. Whether it’s a vengeful caretaker, whumpee, or outside party, someone needs to beat this shit out of that guy.
Wrong place wrong time, or right time?:
Not really a standard trope but I like scenarios where maybe whumpee is just doing a simple thing like grocery shopping or taking a walk down the street and whumper shows up and decides, “yeah, that’s mine now”. Just snatches whumpee simply for existing. Even if maybe whumper accidentally got Whumpee instead of their original target or was forced to take them because they witnessed something and now they actually like having them as a plaything.
Being held at weaponpoint:
Having a knife to your throat or a gun to your head. Maybe a freaking lightsaber that can cut your limbs off kind of thing. Anything that is a threat to your life and makes your adrenaline pump.
Immortal/ non-human whump:
Vampires, gods, hybrids, mythical beings. Whatever you can think of in this category. I love them being a whumpee. Having this perception that they’re invincible in their own realms. The strongest, baddest beings alive and yet a “lower being” has captured them and is breaking then down to nothing.
Multiple Whumpers:
I only sometimes like this. I have a problem with becoming biased towards one of the whumpers so when another one comes over, I’m like, yah no that’s not right. But if it’s written well and theres a dynamic where one whumper is way more sadistic and horrendous than the other. Then it makes it interesting to see Whumpee picking favorites.
These are definitely not all of them, just the ones that I could think of in my head right now. I think I definitely lean more towards the “hurt” side of whump. I’m only ever really heavy on the comfort if I feel bad. Like, I’m the one who wants to comfort the whumpee, not the caretaker in the story if that makes sense. Which is why I like to draw because then I can make the things that I want to do for characters come to life.

For the ask game: 💜🪩
Heyy thank you for the ask!!
💜 - What's a movie/show with whump you recommend?
I haven't watched very much whumpy stuff recently and can't remember any well... I watched Orphan Black years ago and as far as I can remember that has quite a bit whump?
Other one that I watched a few months ago was Sweet Tooth on Netflix and I guess that could count too, just a warning that most of the whumpees on that are kids.
🪩 - what's your favorite type of Caretaker?
I love a protective Caretaker. I love a Caretaker who is so gentle towards their Whumpee(s) but vengeful and merciless towards Whumper(s) <3

From this ask game :D
1. What was your whump awakening(s)?
Hm. I think I’ve always been a little obsessed with captivity. I went on a lot of Wikipedia spirals as a kid reading about all sorts of prisons and restraint methods. Devoured as much books as possible about Alcatraz and various prisons. And then I got into really really angsty media when I was probably far too young for it. I blame YA dystopias for that (specifically the good ones just below YA actually like The Shadow Children series and The Giver Quartet). But!!! That gave me the love of angst. And then I got into writing and putting my OCs into angsty situations. I will say my proper whump awakening was when I read Hazeshift by whumpwillow!!! Before that I had sort of looked into the whump community but discovering villain whump was what really made it click, you know.
7. Favorite whump fandom?
I don’t really do fandom stuff! However you must go read Vicious and Vengeful by VE Schwab they are the whumpiest books I’ve ever read. Look it’s about two college guys with hubris for days and a general callous disregard for others lives and then they die to get superpowers. And Victor literally gets himself tortured to death to be revived and then he and Eli try to kill each other and it’s amazing. Pls read it you will not be disappointed.
Actually probably. The only whump fanfic I’ve ever read is this one of Matt Engarde getting beat up. Honestly Matt Engarde is the only character I’ve ever wanted to read fanfic for. Specifically whumpy stuff. It’s pretty decent!!!!
13. Favorite physical whump trope?
OOOH OKAY THIS IS REALLY HARD TO CHOOSE. I gotta say it's a three way tie between starvation, whipping, and shock collars.
Look shock collars are the love of my life forever. The idea of having something tight around your next 24/7 is Top Tier Horror for me, a man who can barely stand sleeping in a t shirt cuz the collar's too close. Especially when it can totally wreck your shit cuz you know. Electrocution. Look it's just awesome. Give all your whumpees a shock collar and pull it a little too tight <2
Whipping is just pretty fun! Very slay, there's a lot of different types you can choose from, and the sounds are cool! Also I like how you can totally ruin someone with a whip. And whip scars are the best in whump!!
For Reasons that I will not be getting into, starvation always hits the spot for me as a trope <2. Idk man. Lots of things it can symbolize :D But also it's just. It is so much Horrors. And I love it. It's the closest thing you can be to dead while still being alive. Body deteriorating painfully, and you can feel every bit of it. The absolute desperation it brings. And the way it saps your ability to do anything at all. Idk man. It's just great all around. Probably will be one of my favorite tropes forever!

Mateus, on camera: evil, greedy, ambitious, narcissistic, demands worship from his head to his cock, powerful, vengeful, willing to bring shoot stars into people's heads over tiny personal slights, hates defiance, all will submit or it will die
Mateus, not on camera: "I insist that you signal me if this is going too far. Sometimes I don't know my own strength" , actually soft, loves doing makeup and hair for everyone in the scenario but comes across as a demanding perfectionist, "beauty IS pain, love" , puppy dog eyes will probably win him over, kisses many people, openly pan, poly, and proud
I love Mateus because he's not just my personal whumper F/O that forces me to deal with my last trauma, but also because I know that's not his real self. He is an actor, and sometimes hates having to wear the Emperor's crown.
One scene interrupted by Mateus saying, "Can I not be the Emperor today?"
Maybe I should write a change of pace where the Emperor is actually a Caretaker, because he didn't do that whumping. How fucking *DARE* that other whumper get *HIS* darling whumpee.

Whump Quiz Possibilities:
Though I've made this list, I still advocate for anyone seeing this to take the quiz they come from and join the subsequent tag game. Of course, I cannot pass up making a list, so here we go.
Whumper:
Reluctant Whumper:
You're a whumper. Someone scary and dangerous who hurts others. Thing is, you don't want to be. You're being forced into this by someone else, or possibly by circumstance. If it were up to you, your victims wouldn't have to go through any of this. Too bad you're not the one who gets to decide that.
Intimate Whumper:
You want Whumpee not so much for what you can get from them, but for Whumpee themself. You wouldn't hurt them just for the sake of hurting them, but you're more than willing to put them through pain if it's to make sure they're all yours. Keeping someone all to yourself is a kind of love, right?
Impersonal Whumper:
You're all business. Yes, you hurt people, but you never indulge in cruelty for its own sake. Any harm you inflict is methodical. It's all for a reason, whether that reason is information Whumpee has, scientific discovery, or just doing your job. It's not personal, no matter how much it might feel that way to Whumpee.
Sadistic Whumper:
Whumpers just wanna have fun, and you know just how to do it. You get a great kick out of your whumpee's pain, and boy are you good at inflicting that pain. You don't need a reason to hurt them; torture is an end in itself :)
Caretaker:
Support Caretaker:
Being a caretaker is hard--No one should have to do it alone. Dependable and a team player, you can be counted on anytime the job is too much for one person, or when a caretaker needs some caretaking themself!
Gentle Caretaker:
You see someone in pain and are filled with compassion. You're the kind to stay by someone's bedside the whole night and carefully tend to them when they're sick or injured. You're willing to make whatever sacrifices necessary to help Whumpee, and you won't rest until they're recovered.
Scary Caretaker:
Whumpee has nothing to fear from you--but it might take some time for that to sink in. You're rather intimidating, whether because of physical stature, fighting prowess, or a darker vengeful side. But you use it to protect and help Whumpee, never to hurt them. Whumper, on the other hand, might be in for a beating.
Bad Caretaker:
You do try to help Whumpee--or at least you claim you do. But whether deliberate or not, you are actually unhealthy for them. You probably end up losing your temper at them, or neglecting their needs, or taking advantage of them. Hey, nobody's perfect. At least they're better off than with Whumper, right?
Whumpee:
Conditioned Whumpee:
You're just a little guy (gn) who wants to be good. You'll do whatever you're told to by your whumper, who you probably always call by a title. Chances are you frame the whump you've gone through as appropriate "training" or "correction" rather than what it actually is.
Defiant Whumpee:
You might be the victim in this scenario, but there's no way you're going to simply roll over and accept it. You're a fighter, and you're not going to give yourself up to Whumper just because of some pain or threats. No matter how they promise punishment, you're going to take every opportunity to fight back against your whumper.
Stoic Whumpee:
You've got a steady head on your shoulders and the resolve to keep it that way. Whumper may control your situation, but they don't control you, and it's hard to draw much of a reaction from you. The best offense is a good defense: you might not actively fight them, but you hold out.
Compliant Whumpee:
When you find yourself in the clutches of a whumper, you are (understandably) "terrified. You're willing to do just about anything to avoid getting hurt or killed. You'll go along with whatever Whumper wants if it keeps you safe from a worse fate.
Combos:
Carewhumpee:
Whumpees don't always get a knight in shining armor to swoop in and save them. Sometimes, all they have is each other. You do all you can to take care of the other whumpee(s) even as you suffer with them. You offer whatever comforts you're able to in your situation, and are probably the first to volunteer to be hurt in someone else's place.
Carewhumper:
You keep your whumpee to do as you please with them--which often entails treating them nicely. They don't get much freedom and probably do get hurt sometimes, but they're really more like a pet than a victim. Even if they're getting whumped, they have it much better than they would with a full-on whumper.
Whumperee:
Whumper and whumpee in one person. You've experienced both worlds and felt what it is to be both predator and prey. Knowing the taste of power makes it grate all the more when you're the one at another's mercy.
Original Post Text (September 25 2024)
4 Anon:
There is at least one (far more in fact) of each outcome in the reblogs of the original whump picrew/quiz, four outcomes for Whumper, Whumpee, and Caretaker, and three for multi roles. I could come back and list them here but atm it’s 2 am for me so I cannot right now. I have a Google slides stats sheet buried in the reblogs if ur curious about stats and the names of the roles, but my main point is that you could find each of the descriptions under the reblogs of the original post. Sorry if I sound rude that’s not my intent at all /gen
Can we get a list (with descriptions) of all possibilities for the whump character role quiz? I'm curious as to what the descriptions are.
I personally did not create the quiz, but @snakebites-and-ink did, and I am personally extremely new to this community, so I am unaware of all the possibilities.

Cannot stop thinking about a vengeful whumpee
Years are gone since whumper kidnapped and tortured whumpee just for fun.
They make fun of whumpee, treating them as a puppet, making them do awkward things, otherwise they will pay. With other pain.
One day whumper is bored and decide to kidnap whumpee’s entire family and kill them in front of them.
Seeing this scene whumpee just can’t take it anymore and goes on a blind fury, destroying with bare hand their restraints and absolutely wrecking the whumper, charging in battle recklessly
Whumper is defensless with this unexpected revenge on them and kinda try to escape with no use. Whumpee can’t see or listen anymore, they are pure rage and they’re not going to stop until whumper don’t exist anymore. 😎
Oh I have to admit I love this trope.
When they've been just so broken down for so long, and then something goes too far (usually seeing Whumper hurt somebody else for a change) and they snap.
Maybe they've been Whumper's loyal pet for so long servitude has become habit, they don't even think twice anymore about acting as Whumper's slave. It's how they've managed to survive, so they do it. But seeing their family thrown into it just breaks whatever hold they've had on them until now and once the illusion is shattered it can't be put back together.
Or maybe they're in the position they're in because they initially sacrificed themselves for somebody else, the only way they've kept their sanity this whole time is by knowing that at the very least it's them going through it, not someone they love. Until of course, it is. And then the whumper'll surely be sorry.

12, 19, 27, 29, 41, 54, 58 for daero? sorry that this is a lot i love him
:)) thank you!
ask game for whumpee
12. Do you have a caretaker? Someone you trust?
Daero turns away, visibly upset by the question.
"No."
19. If you had the chance to switch places with [Caretaker] in return for your freedom, would you take it?
"I-if I could, I - " he pauses. There is no one, and so he doesn't feel too bad when he admits, "...I...don't know. Maybe."
27. If you could go back in time, what would you have done differently?
If only...
"Stayed far away from humans," he answers softly.
29. Are you afraid?
Daero nods with a sob. This questioning is infinitely better than a beating, but it prods at the fear and loneliness he's tried so hard to bury. He doesn't dare hope the asker will care enough to offer any comfort, though.
41. Do you think you'll ever be able to leave?
"Don't - please don't - " he presses his face into his hands. He can't say it aloud, but deep down he believes he'll die here, if they ever let him die.
54. If you could say anything you wanted to [Whumper] without any consequences whatsoever, what would you say?
Any fiery spirit or vengeful urges have been wrung out of the demon. Besides, the notion of anything here being free of consequences is laughable. Here, he is punished for merely existing. So he answers,
"Nothing."
58. What's the worst thing you've ever done?
"Stolen. I swear that's all. We aren't all monsters. I don't deserve this..."

The Zodiac Signs: Whump Edition
Aries: Hot-headed and competitive, Aries can be a challenge to break. Fight fire with fire, using their anger against them, tainting them into situations that will make them blow up – only to give them harsh punishments for it afterwards, telling that if only they had some self control.
Taurus: Taurus is a complicated one. They are as stubborn as Aries, but tend to be very calm; and have the same pride in their looks as Leo’s, but again, they are more reserved about it. Taurus is a really physical sign as well, so touch-starving them might be a good way to go, as well as finding ways to diminish their self-esteem.
Gemini: Geminis are the social butterflies of the zodiac. Their chatty selves will definitely enjoy a long time locked alone with sensory deprivation. Nothing to ground them to the world, nothing to feed their thoughts, not a soul to talk to other than them interactions with their Whumpers, that each passing day will become more and more precious.
Cancer: They are very attached to their emotions, and care a lot about their friends and family. Getting an important person to the native of cancer and hurting them can be a blow to their spirit. They can be quite manipulative and cry easily so take that in consideration.
Leo: What better to break a Leo’s pride than striking where it hurts most: their ego. Destroy the physical features they are most proud of. If they are proud of their strength, show just how weak they become after a few starving days. Make videos too, and take plenty of pictures of their descent.
Virgo: This is a very clean and orderly sign that takes comfort in routine and like to have a familiar environment where they feel safe and in control. So give them none of that. Give rules that change daily. Give them an order, and once they do it, gaslight them into believing they made it wrong even if it’s perfect. Move things from places interrupt their meals before they finish, don’t let them get too familiar with anything, ever. Make the Whumper the only constant in their life.
Libra (that I totally didn’t forgot at all and was always here): Libra is a very creative sign, quite rational, but tends to try and do more than they can handle, even if it means sacrificing themselves to take care of others. They also tend to be bad with conflicting situations, and have a very hard time making decisions, needing to spend a lot of time considering every possible outcome before making their move or else they feel insecure. This can extend even to smaller decisions so It’s a great sign to play timed and choice games with: “Oh how will I hurt you today? Answer now or it will be worse”; “Which one of your friends do I hurt?”; “Would you rather be starved or be hurt?”, etc.
Scorpio: They are an intense, very resilient and vengeful sign. The symbolism around their constellation is rejuvenation and regeneration, so they might be troublesome. They also tend to be very protective and possessive of their loved ones, like Cancer’s, but they are less likely to be broken just by it. Make them test their limits, they need to feel like they are the reason their loved ones are suffering and that they are too weak to help them. Give them impossible tasks, saying that if they manage to do it, ‘loved one will be spared’ and watch them fail time and time again.
Sagittarius: They are very free spirited and independent, and very similar to Gemini into a lot of aspects. Just the idea of being captive will be a nightmare, but making them dependent on the Whumper to do even basic things like eating or taking a bath, will be a torment on their spirit, be it because they are drugged, hurt too much or are just too weak. Also, they have the added aesthetic of arrows, which can gracefully get stuck on their knees ending their adventurous path.
Capricorn: This sign is very ambitious and deeply grounded in reality. Make it pretty clear that the most they can ever aspire to be is Whumper’s pet, and that no matter how hard they work – it will never be good enough.
Aquarius: They are very good at dealing with sudden changes and tend to be quite rebellious. They will often disagree by the sake of disagreeing, which can lead to reasons for punishment. It would be good to mess with their sense of reality – making it so that they are always wrong, even forcing them to re-learn very basic concepts like ‘the sky is blue’.
Pisces: They are very empathetic and emotional, but kind of live in their own bubble world and have a very interesting way to solve problems. They tend to be sensible to the pain of others, so having multiple whumpee’s (not necessarily their loved ones, like you’d like for cancer/scorpion) can help make them weak.
I feel like a writer to one of those shitty horoscope sites except it’s a really mean version. It’s also based on stereotypes so of course it’s fine if you/your character/whatever doesn’t fit.

I love stories about whumping characters. But I feel guilty. So I’m trying to switch myself to stories about comforting them when they get whumped. Is that really better? On one hand I’m afraid I’m worrying about nothing. Since it’s all just fiction I might as well read and write what I really like. On the other hand I’m afraid it’s all just as bad. Since the character has to get whumped either way. Do you like caretaking because you feel less guilty than whumping? Or do you really like it more? What should I do if I like whumping more? In stories I mean I would never hurt anyone for real!
The way I see it, enjoying fictional things matters in a different way than real things. I don’t think it’s totally meaningless - there’s probably some reason whump appeals to us and it has a lot to say about who we are. But that reasoning behind it is not necessarily bad. For example, some people like the perspective of the whumper because they like to imagine what it would feel like to have a deep emotional and physical impact on someone else. Maybe some people like to see the mind brought to the extremes of pain because it reveals how much a person can really endure, but identifying with the whumpee feels too painful so they identify with whumper instead. Or maybe they were shamed for expressing anger as a kid and now they want to explore what that feels like. These are all valid reasons. Less valid reasons, in my opinion? Wanting to imagine hurting a particular social group or ethnicity, wanting to do away with consent, things like that. But only you know what you like about whump and whether it matches your own values.
So basically, just ask yourself why you like to identify with the whumper and/or see a lot of hurt in stories. Not what the world assumes is the reason, but what you specifically find appealing about it. It’s probably pretty benign and understandable. If you just told me that you like to write/read from the whumper’s perspective, and nothing else, I wouldn’t assume there’s anything wrong with you.
As for whether I really like caretaking more than whumping, I do! It’s exactly what I want to write about - I find it really thrilling to imagine having so much control over someone’s happiness and especially defying all odds in order to be there for them, which is part of why I like to write vengeful and protective caretakers. Caretaking allows you to guide someone go from their lowest low to their highest high, like an emotional roller coaster. Weeeee!! But I don’t know if that’s necessarily more noble than wanting to take a person from the high point to the low point - both involve some desire for control.
Even if you do decide that writing/reading as a whumper doesn’t match your values and you don’t want to keep writing that way, well now you’ve learned something about yourself and that’s still a win. You’re doing your best to self-reflect, anon, and that’s something to be super proud of!

Can you imagine your whumpers as a whumpee? What kind of situation they could found themselves into as a whumpee instead of a whumper?
Aah, thank you so much for asking!
Jason, absolutely. He's a whumper with a very messy head space and very low self esteem, that can be used against them easily. He already is sort of a whumpee/caretaker in some AUs, where he and his wife are kidnapped / overpowered and get into the hands of his vengeful old friends. He's the perfect archetype for forced to watch with two whumpees in in a romantic relationship
Stephen (who is one of Jason's evil friends) would be a horrible whumpee, and I can't imagine him being one. He wouldn't be interesting to whump, I think, because he's just very cold and void of any emotion except for malice and sadism. I think he can't really suffer - and that's what whump is about for me.
Frankie would be a fantastic whumpee. ( @what-a-whump if you ever want to plan this with me??) He thinks about his actions a lot and is too much of a coward to do the right thing even when it's possible. I'd love to see him get hurt and develop over it. He'd probably mess with his employers to a point, where they want to get rid of him, or anger some important clients of his employer in a vain attempt to help Ruby - only to become their target himself.
With the ladies -
Madeline would be very similar to Stephen, as they are pretty similar characters.
Lydia however could potentially break apart quite nicely, and spiral down as she loses control over everything. I have no idea how she could get into sich a situation, though. She's entirely too powerful, feared and self-restrained to maneuver herself into it.
