The dynamic in Rise between the rest of the team and Leo is. so fucking funny. Because like you've got these three extremely talented individuals who all seem like perfectly reasonable people at first glance, right, but then if you squint hard enough you realize they're actually all batshit insane (affectionate) and the clown boy standing behind them is secretly their common sense.

Clown boy will occasionally put himself and the others in danger to Prove Himself or Prove Someone Wrong (see Minotaur Maze and the movie) but like otherwise... i think people forget Leo's overwhelmingly the voice of reason in most situations?

Raph, Mikey, and Donnie are all incredibly powerful boys with very specific skill sets. They are also, as a direct result of this, the WORST decision-makers on god's green earth lmao. When presented with a problem, Raph will smash, Donnie will blow shit up, and Mikey will razzmatazz. They will all run straight toward death with the same oblivious enthusiasm of a dog about to run straight into a screen door. None of them realize this and all of them think they are Extremely Good At Problem-Solving.

And the guy cursed with the common sense to realize this is literally the LAST person anyone would expect.

When you look closely, the entirety of Rise is actually a chronicle of Leo trying to find new and creative ways to keep this team of superpowered fools alive while simultaneously white-knuckling his Cool Fun Guy persona so the others don't realize he's secretly the Boring Responsible One. Haha, you know what would be Cool and Fun, guys? Not going after the Spine Breaking Bandit lol. Getting home before the sun goes up lol. Evacuating that civilian lol. Not telling the guy dangling me off a roof "you won't, no balls" lol.

The sacred struggle of every iteration of Leonardo is thanklessly wrangling the most trigger-happy siblings in the world, and Rise Leo has not escaped it. He just does an occasional shenanigan to avoid detection and his brothers fall for it every time.

OKAY. SO. I just looked through the entire fairy au tag..I apologize for all the notifs .... bUT that being said, because I just looked at everything, I don't think any of this has been discussed much, so I have a few questions!! (This is actually a really long ask I apologize for that as well)

Do the turtles give gifts to April? I know there was talk about Donnie making like tiny versions of what he thinks are his own ideas and inventions for April to use, but do the other turtles ever make anything for her? I noticed like a vine kind of looking ring that she had in the size comparison with Leo, and I was wondering if that was given by one of the turtles, or if she already had it just because she would definitely make herself a little ring out of like flower stems or whatever. ALSO. ACTUALLY. It looks similar to what Mikey has around his arms and legs, sooooo ??? (And is that bracelet she has, also in that drawing, possibly from one of the turtles as well ?)

And, does she ever make anything for the turtles? AND AND AND does she ever make anything with the turtles? I feel like she would make things with Mikey, like jewelry and stuff idk

OH AND ALSO. I'm curious about Donnie's glasses. Because they are clearly different than Bobble's with the water drops, are Donnie's like glass or something? Like actual lenses or whatever?? Aaaand did he somehow make them himself, while not being able to see very well before making them, or did someone else help him with that? And how did he get the materials for them?

I realized I'm extra curious about Donnie (and his glasses specifically help-) and extra EXTRA curious about April's interactions with the turtles.... I'm wondering if you have any ideas about the kinds of stuff they do together? Whether just April and one of the turtles, or all five of them together, or any combination?

Yes, the turtles all give gifts to April! she has SO many little trinkets laying around her cabin from the fairy boys, bc she never throws any of them out,,, even if a lot of them are kinda useless to her lmao (looking at Donnie's "inventions" for this one). The little flower stem ring around her finger is just something she made for herself (probably after one of the boys taught her, I'm thinking Mikey?), but the bracelet was intended to be a gift from Leo :D he finds all kinds of pretty rocks/gems/lost things around Neverland when he's making deliveries and finding materials and stuff. April gets a lot of old jewelry and seashells and things from Leo! Raph tends to give her little things that his animals have shed (pretty scales and feathers, maybe the occasional antler or talon?), and Mikey will just. Fill her house with flowers. And not, like, cut flowers-- just CLUMPS of dirt and roots all over April's counters. All the boys will help him do it too, and April feels too bad to tell them to stop HAH

2. Most of what April "makes" for the turtles is just various human dishes that they want to try! She gets a bunch of weird snacks for them too-- like, can you imagine a fairy trying a Taki for the first time? A SOUR PATCH KID??? Donnie drinks one single drop of hot sauce and dies immediately lmao. She doesn't really make them gifts, but she'll buy Donnie whatever cool human materials she thinks he can make something out of (more on that later--), and she'll get specific video games and phone apps and movies that she thinks the boys will like!! And maybe the occasional bigger gift, like a stuffed animal for Rose :) ALSO YES she would totally make flower crowns and rings and stuff with Mikey!! gotta do smth with all the flowers he's dumping in her living room rip

3. FUN FACT ABOUT DONNIES GLASSES (I've been waiting for someone to ask about this--): He started off with glasses/goggles that were similar to Bobble's water-drop ones!!! He only figured out to make glasses with actual lenses once he met April, and got to study HER glasses! His own glasses are made of, like, cheap magnifying lenses April bought him, and he cut them down to size :DD The metal on his goggles/shell/glasses is all also stuff that April bought for him-- probably like, wire of different sizes. She gets him a lot of human materials to play around with hehe

4. Group activities with the boys + April can be anything, really. Her family's cabin is kinda in the middle of nowhere, and April is a city girl at heart, so sometimes the boys will force her to go hiking or exploring in the woods with them :D She hated it at first, but as time goes on, she gets more used to the bugs and the wildlife and everything-- especially since Raph and Leo will do their best to scout out routes beforehand so she doesn't get freaked out by anything. Movie nights are also really common! So are video games, to an extent? But it takes basically all four turtles to maneuver one X-box controller, so it's a little more rare lmao. April definitely wins 90% of the time.

5. As for individual activities-- those are also a bit more rare. The two boys April interacts with one-on-one (or two-on-one) the most are Leo and Mikey, since they're usually the least busy, and Leo can fast-fly them to April's cabin and back really quickly. Typically though, Leo doesn't go to the cabin unless all five of them are available to meet up!

(...although Leo starts bringing Mikey more often once Mikey loses his job. teehee.)

The turtle in red had always stayed away from matters of love, they didn't really seem to interest him.

But that still didn't mean that anyone could be attracted to him.

But you would always be a great friend to him, just like Casey, just like April, but there was something more on his part.

Seeing how Leo and Donnie behaved when they were in love, he knew you had the same attitude, and for Casey it was also obvious.

And he doesn't want to go through that kind of problem.

At first he will try to be a little rougher with his way of being, other times he was indifferent, he just wanted you to stop acting that way.

But it wasn't like he would like to treat you that way either.

So like Leo, he will be direct to talk about the matter.

But he will make sure that only you go, during a patrol or perhaps a training session.

A moment when he knows they can open up and maybe if you feel the urge to punch him in the face you could blame the training.

“Time to put the cards on the table... Look, I'm not interested in getting into love conflicts like Don and Leo have, you are a great friend and an excellent partner, but that's it”

Clearly the blow was not long in coming, but in the end it was something that was arguably necessary.

You could get your pain and anger out that way.

And maybe after a while their relationship as friends could return to what it was before. (Or so he thought)

But still don't expect that topic to be touched on again.

You could say that it became taboo among you.

They're still friends, they go on some mission as a team, they fight for fun, they kick kraang ass, they have more fun than anything.

But he knows that in the end the one who helped you understand things better was Casey, he somehow left him alone.

Although it would take a bit, in the end you would understand what he is trying to tell you.

It wasn't for nothing that they spent so much time together.

It was good to be able to talk things through even though they will use pizza as part of the conversation.

He felt pretty bad, but if you give him a little encouragement or a hug he'll know that your friendship wasn't completely ruined.

And when he met Renet, he honestly felt a little overwhelmed.Many thoughts filled his head.

Was I bad for falling in love with someone else? Was I being selfish? What if you got angry?

He almost had a meltdown.

But if you are with him to support him in that crush he had, he will not only be happy, he will feel accompanied.

You may not necessarily have to set him up on a date, but knowing that you can talk about something you did with your crush will let him know that you are still friends, despite what happened.

I found your Cloning Donnie idea and I was on my way to the bus. So~, out of both boredom and the thought not leaving my brain for- like- 2 hours, I started to draw out some part of the angst part.

Buuuuut, I don't know what they would talk about and I would like your help(if I am able to continue this) for what they should discuss...

Also, I'm very sorry if I'm responding to this super late - I'm not in the habit of checking my inbox every day anymore and tumblr doesn't tell me when messages were sent asdfg.

Of course, I'd really love to see your personal interpretation of the scene! I realize that, without context, it could easily go a multitude of different ways and it's fun for me to see how other people's minds fill in the gaps. But if you want to know where my mind was at while drawing it, I'd be happy to talk a little bit about that, too. [Fair warning, tho: I'm not great at putting my thoughts into words? Which is generally why I opt to sketch them out instead. But I'll do my best and hopefully it'll make some sense lol.]

So - it's subject-to-change, depending on how the rest of the plot continues to work itself out in my brain, but for me - "Bad Feelings" Donnie opens up an opportunity to address some of Real Donnie's hidden fears/insecurities, the ones he doesn't like to acknowledge (hence the way the other Donnies react to this Donnie's presence, in particular.) Namely his struggles with relating his self-worth to usefulness and maybe how all the recent changes have likely been effecting him. Things that make him feel weak or less capable.

For instance: maybe he's having a hard time finding some stability now that all the constants in his life (save the big one, that being his family) have been challenged or taken away? Donnie's always been shown to have the hardest time adjusting to major changes, and they've been through a LOT of those lately (considering it's meant to take place after the movie). He doesn't often reach out or seek help in dealing with things, so I think it would be interesting to put him in a situation where that's really the only option. Leo has had similar struggles with self-worth and identity, as well as having to deal with the massive change of being assigned a leadership role, so these are things he can definitely relate to.

That's all I've really got at the moment. I'll leave it up to you to work out how they would go about discussing that and what the exact wording would be, if you decide to go this route at all. Regardless - I can't wait to see your version of the scene if/when you finish it! :>

(My personal head canon is that all the Leos love country music and will unironically blast it in the lair when their brothers are away).

Summary: It was late night in the lair, Mikey and Raph were out grabbing Pizza, and Donnie was out wanting to grab supplies for a new project he was working on. Leo had the lair to himself and decided why not to blast his comfort music.

Leo hardly got time alone in the lair; he loved to bask in the quietness of it.

Splinter knew of Leo's little secret; Splinter caught Leo in the kitchen dancing and singing as the radio played loudly. Splinter got a little kick out of seeing his stoic and stern leader of a son having fun and singing without a care in the world.

When Leo got caught; he apologized, saying that he'd turn the music down. Splinter just shook his head and lifted a hand stopping him. "Go ahead, I just wanted to see what you were doing," that's when the old rat walked back to his room to meditate. Leo was touched to say the least.

Leo was once again, back in the kitchen, the radio playing Morgan Wallen. A mix of the country artist's accent and Leo's voice filled the empty quietness of the lair. Leo bopped his head while he made his tea. He was so distracted by his own singing and dancing that he didn't hear the faint footsteps behind him.

The turtles met you when Leo saved you from falling debris from the Kraang's ship destroying some buildings while it was assembling itself. After that, the two of you were close, really close. Which confused you when you heard country music originating from the room where Leo was in.

You never took any of the guys to like country; yet here was the blue terrapin, listening and singing along to Morgan Wallen. You let out a soft giggle, as Leo swiftly moved across the kitchen while simultaneously dancing and singing the words that flowed from the radio's speakers.

You walked over to the radio, turning it down as Leo's voice bounced off the stone walls of the kitchen. Your heart skipped a beat, his voice was beautiful; the way the words flawlessly rolled off his tongue. He turned towards the radio and his heart jumped out of his chest.

You jumped as well seeing how much Leo jumped out of his own shell seeing you. "Y/N?" he stammered. "What are you doing here?"

"I came to see you guys, but I guess that the others aren't around. Is this some dirty little secret?" you voiced, teasingly.

"Please, Y/n, don't tell the others. I won't hear the end of it," he pleaded. You smile softly, of course you weren't, you loved this turtle too much to hurt him like that.

"Naw, I ain't going to do that," soft music came from the radio as you wrapped your arms around his waist. His face flushed,

"Thank you," he whispered softly against your shoulder.

"Wanna dance?" he let out a chuckle,

"Why not." You turned the music back to its original volume. His voice was a whisper as he sung the words,

"She wants to get married; she wants it perfect; she wants her granddaddy preaching the service. She wants magnolias, out in the country; not too many people, save her daddy some money." You let out a giggle, "ooh, she's got it all planned out; yeah, I can see it all right now. I wear my black suit, black tie; out in the back, I'll do a strong shot of whiskey, straight out the flask. I'll try make it through without crying, so nobody sees that, yeah, she wants to get married, but she don't wanna marry me."

You stare up at his big Sapphire eyes as he continued, "I remember the night when, I almost kissed her. Yeah, I kind of freaked out, we've been friends for forever." he let out a small chuckle, "And I'd always wondered if she felt the same way; when I got the invite, I knew it was too late. And I know...her daddy's been dreading this day, awe but he ain't the only one giving her away. I'll wear my black suit, black tie; out in the back, I'll do a strong shot of whiskey straight out the flask. I'll try to make it through without cry, so nobody sees, yeah, she wants to get married, but she don't wanna marry me."

Time felt like it stopped, your heart pounding against your ears. "But she got a long dress now; welcoming the guests now; I can try to find her, get it off of my chest now. But I ain't going to mess it up, so I'll wish her the best night. So, I'm in my black suit, black tie; I'm out in the back; doing a strong shot of whiskey, straight out the flask. Something about Leo made you see him in a different light; he was your best friend, you loved him, but this was different. Your heart started to speed up; your arms wrapped around his neck, arms wrapping so safely around your waist in an embrace made you feel safe. Safer than you've ever felt before.

Your hands traveled from his neck to his shoulders; his rough scales brushing against your fingertips. Leo let out a soft churr as he leaned toward, his lips barely a hairline away from yours. It all felt like a dream; your fingers twitched as he started to lean in the rest of the way.

CRASH!

"We're back!" Leo jumps, turning off the radio. He turned away from you and vice versa. The tea kettle began to scream as Leo took it off the burner; you were in the fridge, pretending like you were about to grab a drink.

The earlier night's events played in your head as you tried to sleep. Your heart raced as you tried to not think about how you almost kissed your best friend; his rough scales feeling soft against your fingertips; how his breath barely fanned your face. How his lips were so close that you could barely feel them against your own. How. How. How.

Knock! Knock!

You gasp, lifting yourself off of your mattress. Turning, you saw a large shadow outside your window. You slipped off your bed and walked over to the window; there on your balcony was the familiar blue turtle. But he wasn’t wearing any of his gear; a big, leather jacket and jeans to ward off the cold mid-fall weather.

"Leo?" you whisper as you stood on the balcony.

"Hey," he greeted, still not looking in your direction.

"Is something wrong?"

"Couldn't sleep," he admitted. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have come here; did I wake you up?"

"No," you admit. Your head leaned against his arm; Leo felt himself stiffen.

"Can we talk about earlier?"

"Sure."

"I'm sorry," you glance up at him.

"For what?"

"Almost kissing you, I was crossing a line." You stare up at him bewildered, "You're my friend; I'm sorry," you softly put your palm over his hand as he gripped the metal railing. You force him to turn his hand as your fingers intertwined with his--to the best of your ability--Leo looked at you, his eyes filled with shock and confusion.

"Don't apologize; what happened to the Leo in the kitchen, the Leo was singing his heart out to me, the Leo that was actively flirting with me?" He let out a nervous laugh,

"I guess the music helped the confidence boost," he admitted, taking his free hand and rubbing the back of his neck. "Silly, isn't it?"

"No," you whisper. Going up on your toes, your arms wrap around his neck as you captured his lips into yours. He let out a small squeak in surprise; he slowly wrapped his arms around your waist, pulling you closer.

Pulling away, his blue eyes shinned silver against the city lights. You reached up, cupping his cheek, while your thumb brushed against the scales of his face. You loved seeing him without his mask; it was personal to see him without it; it was a sign of trust.

"Wanna dance?" You repeated your question from the kitchen. He nodded, the two of you enter your room as Leo discarded his phone on your bed as music played softly in the background.

"I'm jealous of blue jeans that you're wearing, and the way they're holding you so tight." Leo sung, "I'm jealous of the moon that keeps on staring, so lock the door and turn out the night. I want you all to myself, we don't need anyone else; let our bodies to the talking; let out shadows paint the wall." You smile as he continued, "I want you here in my arms, we'll hide away in the dark. Slip your hand in my back pocket, go and let your long hair fall. I want you all to myself, to myself."

"I'm jealous of the song that you've been singing, and the way it's rolling off your lips. It might be selfish, but I'm thinking, I don't need nothin' between you leanin' for another kiss, yeah. I want you all to myself, we don't need anyone else. Let out bodies to the talking, let our shadows paint the wall. I want you hear in my arms; we'll hide away in the dark. You lean forward, pressing your lips back to his. "Girl, I want you in the worse way; yeah, I want you in the worse way." You let out a laugh as he hummed against your neck. "I want you all to myself, we don't need anyone else. Let our bodies to the talking; let our shadows paint the wall. I want you hear in my arms; we'll hide away in the dark! Slip your hand in my back pocket, go and let your long hair fall! I want you, all, all, all to myself, to myself. I want you all, all, all, to myself, to myself, yeah!"

You rolled your eyes playfully, "Who knew you could be such a sap." He let out a chuckle,

"Me, I'm pretty sure."

"Also flirty," his face flushed.

He walked you over your window. "Are you sure you don't want to spend the night?"

"As much as I'd love to. I really don't want to get interrogated by anyone when I get back," he explained. You pouted, "I'll see you tomorrow." You blushed as he pressed a kiss against your temple.

Before he could leave, you grab the arm of his jacket. He paused, turning back towards you with a confused look. "You missed," before he could respond your lips were back on his. Pulling away, he stared at you in a daze; you snap your fingers in front of his face.

I'm bored and can't get myself to work on any art so here's this.

I do have an idea for a rottmnt au, but have no idea if I'll do much with it. Guess it depends on how interested people will be. For now I want to get it out there cuz, personally, I think it's cool.

We're All Mad Here

It's based off my favorite fairytale, Alice In Wonderland with a splash of American Mcgee's Alice: Madness Returns. So, essentially it's going to be fun (at least for me) and dark. I love that game with all my heart, and I'm genuinely so sad we aren't getting a third instalment :( it's messed up what happened and I'm genuinely so sorry for the team.

For the cast. I had some ideas but unfortunately not every role has been filled.

First and foremost, out dear Alice. I immediately thought of the darling April O'Neil for this, hands down. I have some design ideas my head that I just haven't gotten down yet. So yes, it would've been April centric which (from what I've mostly seen) would be pretty different.

The Mad Hatter. Again, without even a thought, I thought of Michelangelo. We've all seen him. He can be absolutely unhinged. I wanted to use that to the absolute best of my ability and make an awesome character. And honestly he just gives me Mad Hatter energy, I can't really explain it.

The Cheshire Cat. This took a little bit of thought before I settled on Leonardo. So I would be going with, essentially, the blue version we got in the live action Alice In Wonderland movies and also the Alice: Madness game. Leo is cunning, a bit of a trickster. He fits with what I have in mind purrfectly... I'll see myself out.

The Queen Of Hearts/The Red Queen. I didn't really feel like I had to think much on this one, I went with Big Mama. Cuz like... Come on. Have you seen her??? Yes of course there's also her husband, the king, whose role would probably go to Splinter.

Of course there's still the remaining two brothers: Raphael and Donatello.

With Raph I thought at first to go with the March Hare/Thackery Earwicket. He's the best friend of the Mad Hatter, and of course, equally insane as him. But unfortunately I also thought of Donnie for this as well down the line. I love the Raph/Mikey and the Donnie/Mikey dynamics so much I wasn't sure which to choose. And I'd hate for either of them to get a minor part.

Of course there's also the Caterpillar, the White Queen and other characters to think about.

Why this?

Well..Why not? 🤷🏼 Honestly. And as I've stated prior, I feel in love with the story and concept when I was a kid. I watched the movies and fell in love even more. And with the game, it was the first one I really bought by myself haha. I felt so cool doing so. I saw it was an Alice inspired thing and immediately had to have it. Then I played it and my mind was blown.

The horror, psychological horror, the art style, the aspects of it... It holds near and dear to my heart still to this day. I mean, fucking hell I'm replaying it on my old PS3 (hang in there old girl don't catch on fire pls). I probably was a bit too young, considering the target audience of it, but still. I'm happy I was allowed to have that experience... No matter how buggy it was and still is 😅.

I think I mostly enjoyed the ability to escape into another world and be able to just... Leave this one for a while. I'm talking about the original story here lol.

Anyway one day I was just thinking and decided on this concept. I love the turtles and AIW. Putting those two concepts and medias together would definitely take a lot of time and planning but I pretty much have a basic layout of what I want. I just really need to have it physically wrote down lmao.

Everyone has such cool AUs and I kind of wanted to join in...? I know this probably won't blow up and get popular, and I'm okay with that. I just mostly enjoyed getting this idea out there. Trust me, I've had this in my pocket for a long while.

OKAY SO I’VE BEEN MIA BC I JUST FINISHED GRAD SCHOOL AND I DIDN’T HAVE TIME TO READ THE LAST SEVERAL CHAPTERS. I’M BACK AND HOLY SHIIIIIIIIT BRO. 

Okay I’m only going to go into ch 14 for all our sakes lmao. Having Neymar come with Ky to pick Taylor up from the airport is everything that healed my little heart. I know I’ve said it before, but her relationship with Ney is just the most wholesome and I love it. “Man, just kiss already. You can cut the tension with a knife.” She laughed, embarrassed at herself and leaned on Kylian’s shoulder, hiding herself. Like this encapsulates everything I love about this trio. The safety they both feel in being open in front of Ney is just **chefs kiss** to me. Surprising her with Leo, Ramos, and Kimpembe has me squealing like a child, but the real star of the show is Taylor’s reunion with Luna. My god I love this kitty. 

The conversation between her and Verratti was perfectly awkward. Like we know he feels bad about how everything went down and like…he absolutely should and I love that Taylor made him squirm a bit. It’s exactly why I love Taylor as a character-her stubbornness and intensity is both her gift and downfall, but god when she uses it for her benefit it just makes me so happy. 

“What about short term?” he mumbled to her lips, giving it a light bite.“You” she said in a quick breath

OKAY RIP ME WOW. 

I’m conflicted about Galtier’s offer with the youth league. Because on one hand, I love that it would allow her to stay coaching in a sense, be close to Kylian and the rest of the boys, but I also remember how much she hated the whole system of how players are treated. “You can hep us build the foundations” like homie that’s not how this works….but okay. TYPICAL KY GETTING IN HIS HEAD THAT SHE DOESN’T CARE ABOUT HIM. CHRIST ON A STICK KYLIAN GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR ASS. Their argument in the car is easily my favorite bit of writing thus far. It’s so fucking hilarious and on brand for the two of them to confess these big emotions while arguing like this and all while Taylors driving for the first time here lmao. 

“I did not make a pause! My lips are still moving—you cut me off—and for you information it’s the kind of logic that I can find other teams like psg, psg is replaceable—you are not!” she stopped the car abruptly in front of a red light, Kylian moving a little forward. Silence. Just the car sounds filling the emptiness. He looked at her in awe, he wanted to kiss her right there and then.

Like I’m sorry WHAT!!! OW MY HEART I LOVE IT. “psg is replaceable-you are not!” That just causes me goosebumps because it really shows the depth of her feelings. 

They’re finally happy. Like finally. I’m glad she took the job, but I worry that her reservations from the past assistant coach job will resurface and she’ll be unhappy again. ugh. 

Him referring to her has his girlfriend for the first time…oof. She’s better than me because I’m pretty sure my brain would short circuit and an Error 404 message would just pop up lmao. Like they were building new routines together that weren’t involving only their bodies but their hearts too. Domestic fluff like this shit is what I liiiiiiiive for. 

(K about to get sentimental and shit for a sec) Kylian speaking to the medics about her condition…this hit home. As someone who lives with a chronic illness that affects literally every aspect of how I’m supposed to live my life I really connect with Taylor in this capacity. It’s so hard to explain a version of life that is so drastically different than what is considered “normal” to others. I’m sure Kylian is wildly frustrated by her lack of sharing, but when you historically have to be the only one you yourself can rely on for shit, it’s hard to share that burden onto someone else…especially if you love them because you never want to give your shit to someone else. But that’s what she does. That quick little peck and “good to know you want to share it” from Kylian may have seem like such a throw away moment, but as someone who’s lived Taylors experience with this, it means everything. (K done with gross feelings now MOVING ON)

Of course I knew you were going to write Ney getting hurt…but god fucking dammit it hurts. Ney really feels like her family. Her brother. And hearing both Ky and Ney say “I’m tired” in the context they are saying it, I just know it’s breaking her heart. It’s back to the reason she hated the higher ups in the coaching gig again. No respect for the players. But I fear this will  just add fuel to her flame hatred of how these players are being treated. 

“He’s gonna need you.” “I know.” Neymessi going strong. 

Ooooooooooooh apartment conversations happening….I was wondering if I missed the memo of them officially living together but here we go lol. 

AGH HER GRIPE WITH COACHING STAFF COMES UP AGAIN. Taylor thank god you’re telling him the legit ruth and not sugar coating shit….where’s Taylor in real life because homeboy needs to hear this shit. The conversation between Ky and Leo is perfect. Truly no notes. We love Uncle Leo in this house. “That part had it’s pleasure, but you can break records anywhere Kylian.” He shrugged, scratching the back of his head “it’s who you break them with that makes it special.”  I feel like this is then counterintuitive to the dilemma…idk yet I haven’t fully formed that thought yet. 

LILY IS THERE. OH MY GOD TAYLOR AND BETH. AHHHH. I love Ky and lily’s dynamic its so stinking cute. I can only imagine how that looked to the others though hahaha. Like some random little girl none of them have ever seen comes crashing into Kylian and he’s like so chill about it. I’m sure they thought he’s like lost his head or something hahaha. Oh interesting dynamic with Ethan and their dad. I’m intimidated by him. Did not expect him to extend that invitation to Taylor and her family…is this just me being suspicious? I’m not fully trusting it yet…

Grizzly Truth

Warnings: Rushed Gore description, death mention, if he wasn't there (you'll know what), nightmares, the start of my Peepaw project. Immediate Nightmare, If you wanna skip just go to the [Nightmare Ends]

Michelangelo was thrown across the lair, blood flying from his mouth as a loud resounding crack erupted over the sounds of fire and fallen concrete.

To his left lay an unmoving Donatello, his body looked broken but his face looked peaceful.

Like he was sleeping in the world's worse position.

Leo probably had the worse death, he was impaled through the shell..as though he had been falling. 

His death was slow, he was alive to see Splinter get crushed.

Raph was putting up more of a fight, but despite being rusty, their opponent was always stronger than them at full strength.

"MIKEY!"

There was a crack and a splay of blood splattered across Michelangelo's face.

The youngest watched as his brother's throat was peirced by a purple vine, lifted off the ground and carelessly tossed aside.

He landed near the burned bodies of Cassandra and April.

"Papa? Why?"

Baron Draxum towered over his creation, his failed experiment, and sneered.

"Do not call me that, you are nothing but failed experiments." Like that Michael's world was filled with pain and darkness.

Baron Draxum dropped the youngest's body into the fire, turning on his heel as he exited

No regrets, no hesitation, no care.

{Nightmare Ends}

Gasping for air Barry popped up from the turtle pile and looked around.

Instead of blood soaked and burned bodies, it was his sleeping children and Lou. He sighed with relief.

Tomorrow was the day his older version taught him how to regain his lost power.

Speaking of his older self, Barry looked around freezing at the sight before him.

His older self, Bear, stared over the family, practically looming over them all. A single hand over Future Boy's head, the other hovered over Raphael.

He didn't know what came over him, but a deep rumble escaped him.

The hand hovering over Raph didn't move but Bear did look up, "It has been a long time since I've seen Raphie."

Raphie…he had been calling Raphael since he got here, Baron called him that a few times but each time there was a breakdown or replying to a tease.

"What happened to him? I know he died, but Future Boy didn't say anything-" He was interrupted by a wave of a hand.

"You tell me what your nightmare was about and I'll tell you about Raphie's fate."

Draxum frowned and nodded slowly, he removed himself from the pile and walked towards Lou's room.

Bear followed, dipping down to enter the now small door frame, and closed the door behind him.

The large goat waved a hand and instantly the room became soundproof.

"I killed everyone, once I got my powers…In my dream I had no regrets, I laughed. It scared me. I love them, they are mine and it scares me." Tears flowed down his fuzzy face.

Bear hugged him, strong in a way that Draxum hadn't felt in a long time.

"Leonardo, Raphael and myself were on a mission, I was still fresh from gaining my life force back, so it was a simple mission for me.

Just a supply run, I thought nothing of it. We were looting the school, I just had to visit the cafeteria. There were so many little skulls there, my teenagers were hiding there until they subcame to one thing or another.

That's when we found out the Kraang could reanimate recently deceased or use them for armor.

I hate to admit I froze, I stopped at the sight of a fleshy being armored with eyes, skulls and spines.

Of course Leonardo helped me there, and we fought back to back until Raphael rained down from the ceiling like a vengeful Angel.

We were winning, until the sister Kraang appeared. She flung me into a wall and was prepared to stab Leo after hitting him prone…

Raphie, our biggest and oldest, jumped between sister Kraang and Leo. Stabbed through the heart, but sealing the sister's fate…

Raphael gains a dangerous and terrifying move that would have been wonderful…

He absorbed her energy and by extension..her.

If more enemies hadn't shown up, if I had a better handle on my magic…Raphie probably could have lived. The resistance would have lived. CJ would have his family and I would have married Lou like we talked about…but I wouldn't be able to focus if I only thought about the "what ifs" but I rather live in the moment for my family. We both know Michael would scold us if we didn't."

It was a lot, Draxum could see Bear crying and the large goat held him a bit tighter.

The two stood there, holding each other like lifelines and crying.

Once separated, Bear held Barry at arms length and stares him down.

"Don't worry about the nightmare, it is just a warning to hold back when interacting with them."

"Like you held Raphael upside down with a vine and increased gravity on Leonardo?"

".....Yes."

"Titan above you is such a drama queen."

"Says the theater kid."

The two went back and forth with the banter until they both felt tired. Getting rid of the spell and entering the living room, the duo saw that no one moved.

Though Splinter did look at them in confusion as Barry got back into the pile, bringing the rat in close and shaking his head.

The remaining trio finally fell asleep, all at peace until the loud morning in a few hours.

My wifi died when I first saw this so I never got the full experience and it ended with Casey holding the book up to Raph. Thus, I didn't really think much of it, just some cute moments with Raph and baby Casey.

Looking back at this now makes me feel like a friggin idiot.

BECAUSE OH MY GOSH LOOK AT BABY CASEY IN THE LAST PAGE?????????

okokokokokokokokok lemme explain why I'm focusing on that and not the GIANT elephant in the literal room rn. Basically, I'm fuccin emotionless, I feel nothing, and I'm an alien. Thus, I tend to gravitate towards the emotions of living characters rather than dead fricking bodies.

Which is why I wanna talk about Casey. This lovable little squirt as a child has seen nothing like this before. He's witnessed people being mean, sure, has seen things break, yeah, has seen people break down and cry... Okay probably not that one BUT STILL! Casey's an apocalypse baby. He's seen a lot in the short time that he's been alive. However, one thing he has yet to witness, is death itself.

Well not actually Death Itself like in Puss in Boots or that one indie animated pilot that never saw the light of day again-

This was the first time ever that Casey has ever seen someone die, or on the brink of death. This, to me, is a reflection on the parentage of the others. If a child has witnessed more than necessary at a young age, then the parents are shit and should go to jail. If they don't have trauma yet, then the parents are doing their jobs right and they can rightfully plead the fifth in court. For Casey, it's the latter. His parents, aka the turtles, (And specifically Raph) have been doing a great job with taking care of Casey!

This also means though that he doesn't quite understand yet that Raph is, for the moment, gone for good. He's not gonna understand why Mikey will go on to avoid him as time goes on. He's not gonna grasp why Leo holds him so close to his chest every night. He's not gonna wonder why UncleTello hasn't been seen outside his lab in days. Only after noticing these things will he be able to understand what happened to his mother and father, and only then will he truly know what it's like to lose someone.

This is represented via his shadow, actually. Well, sort of. Usually, when a shadow is shown casting unto or from a character, it's to represent unsureness, confusion, a loss of identity, darkness... All that bad shit. For this case, however, I see it differently.

Well kind of. This is really really hard to explain so just- bare with me here please and thank you-

The older Casey, the 13-year-old (I forget how old he is actually so I'm just going off of my own headcanon. Sorry) that we see with a grief-stricken face and a haunted look that has seen far too much by now, is casting no shadow. The younger version of himself, the 3-year-old, the one who is only witnessing death for the first time in his life, is casting a shadow.

In this case, I believe the shadow represents pureness and kindness. Sure, Casey's got a butt-ton of kindness in his heart still, and he's so full of it that I bet he's overflowing with it, but it's much more worn-down and deflated than how it used to be. The smaller, younger Junior is filled with far more love and innocence and kindness. Far too much for his teeny-tiny toddler body to allow. Because, ya know, that's just how kids are. They have those like 2-year intervals where they're little shits for a while, you start questioning their sanity, and then BOOM! Nicest human being you've ever seen!

So basically here, Junior is overflowing with kindness. That- That's what the shadow is. His innocence.

TMNT: Family Bonds Lore Post

Splinter in this version has a pretty good balance between father and sensei. He also teaches his kids more than just ninjutsu. It’s not a perfect education, but he did what he could for the early years, and once Donnie got a working computer put together in the lair, his kids were all able to learn whatever they wanted more in depth. Each of his kids has a favorite subject or two

It was clear early on that Donnie was fascinated by everything splinter would teach them. They gravitated toward math and science of course, eventually expanding on that and getting into chemistry and robotics, but they simply loved to learn. They built their own computer at 13 and used to borrow portable wifi packs from the local library to supply wifi for the lair before they just set up a more permanent solution (i dont think all libraries have this, but my parents used to borrow one when we went up to the family cabin when i was a kid)

Leo likes math better than most subjects because it’s very straight-forward, and you’re guaranteed to have have a set answer, but he’s also really into world history and psychology. Knowing what makes people tick is something that Leo finds fascinating. Her younger brother always seems to intuitively know what others are thinking and feeling, and Leo decided to learn for herself. 

Raph has dyslexia, which makes reading hard, but he loves creative writing. He never really cared for reading through musty old textbooks, but give him a novel and he’s entertained for hours. Splinter gave him a journal to keep when he was younger and he filled it up with stories. he posts them online under an alias sometimes. He’d NEVER tell his siblings about them though, only Splinter has read any of his stuff. He’d be over the moon to have any of his novels or short stories published someday

Mikey LOVES art. Especially physical stuff like origami and clay. Zir room is full of little statues, cups and bowls, and all kinds of creations. This love of creation extends to the kitchen as well, and ze’s quite the little Chef.

Venus also enjoys art, though they prefers paints and ink. they also enjoys reading/writing, and has taken to poetry as a medium. When she’s not focused on art, she likes to tend to the little garden she keeps in her room. Donnie made her sun lamps a while back so she can grow plants in the lair. She’s got a general interest in Biology, but is especially fond of plants

WHUMPTOBER 2023, DAY 30: “It’s okay, just to say, ‘I’m not okay’.” Borrowed Clothing | Bridal Carry | “Not much longer…”

I guess writing one (1) interaction between Camilla and Hikaru in the early chapters of "Promotion to Parent" has always made me interested in more Camikaru (let's call it that lol) content for the HSAU. I don't even know why that is, I just felt like they'd be interesting to write interacting; and if this fic being there is proving something, it's that my writer hunch wasn't wrong.

This story is set a year after the main timeline, around the same time in the (school) year Promotion to Parent was set in. Since it serves as a bit of an indirect sequel to it, it does contain implied spoilers for it - so if it's ever interested you, please read that one first! It's not too long and also filled with all of the good stuff (read: family angst and lots of sibling love).

It's another short one that I thought I'd be more inspired by, or that would be angstier, but oh well… Brain is slowly stopping to function properly. It's another one of those I'll probs revisit in the future.

Camilla has lost count of the number of times she’s been told she cared too much about people she didn’t know anything about. She’s been warned not get attached to students no matter what. She’s been blamed for lacking perspective and thinking with her heart rather than her brain. Mind over matters, duty of detachment, all that jazz that has turned into background noise inside her skull.

And yes, maybe Xander is right when he points out to her it will one day make her miserable, the one day she’ll be powerless yet too involved. But what do you want her to become, then? A heartless machine of an employee? Very little for her, thank you.

Today is proving Xander’s concerns for her habit of “over-caring” right once more, she does suppose. She’s meant to just deliver some papers her brother forgot to give to one of his workmates that couldn’t wait: with the upcoming class council season upon the school, teacher comments and grades have become the latest emergency. He’s himself swamped with comments to write for all of his students – who are a lot more than anyone would expect, to be fair – so she volunteered to deliver something he apparently needed to give to someone as soon as possible. Leo was the one to call her out, this time, but she replied to his concern the same way she always does: with a smile and truthful words.

This someone has turned out to be one of the few workmates he has she knows about, from last year’s Xander-related fiasco. Elise most often calls him by an affectionate nickname used by the entire school, it’d seem, while Leo is always a lot more detached when referring to him, and neither case comes to her surprise. What surprises her more was that she’s already met and spoken with him once before, yet when he opens the door, she’s still a bit starstruck. It’s like meeting her sibling’s idol in an intended context.

Perhaps it’d be closer to meeting someone and realizing they need help, however, because this is exactly what she’s doing.

Camilla has no doubt in her mind that, would’ve it been anyone else but her in this situation, they’d have just called someone close to the person they barely know anything about and left when it was clear it’d be taken care of. This is the sort of things Leo and Xander have warned her not to do, because she cares too much, and it’s not good for her.

On the other hand, this poor boy needed a helping hand, and he clearly is home alone: not only have Xander and Leo both mentioned his fiancée was out of the country for the week, but she also knows from second-hand accounts Elise’s favourite teacher is a chronic workaholic with… questionable self-care. Hinoka and Shun have both corroborated that, although considering Shun’s own lack of routine, she can only guess his judgement came from first-hand experience.

And this is how Camilla is finding herself with her brother’s colleague in his arms. From what she can tell through touch and sight, he’s slightly feverish and very much exhausted, but he should be fine with some rest.

The first order of action, when someone passes out in front of you, is to carry them to a bed. Luckily, she’s always had a lot of strength in her arms to carry her siblings and help Xander out, so it’s not an issue for her to carry the fairly lightweight Hikaru (she isn’t sure if she can call him by his given name, but it sounds like a good compromise between the formal “Mr Matsuyama” Leo uses and the much endeared “Matsu” Elise calls him instead) to his bedroom.

It doesn’t seem like he’s been here for long periods of time lately, with half of the twin bed undone yet the other undisturbed. She quickly takes the time to put it back into shape before tugging her patient in, just making sure he isn’t wearing anything too uncomfortable. To his luck, he was already wearing a very casual combination of old t-shirt and sweatpants. (Come to think of it, this doesn’t match the casual yet strait-laced enough looks Leo usually describes his literature teacher wearing).

With that taken care of, she can proceed to the next stop, which awaits her downstairs. With the supplies in the kitchen and the tools at her disposal, she wipes up a quick get-better package: a steaming mug of camomile tea with a generous spoonful of honey, lightly toasted bread straight from the machine and, of course, a good, tall glass of water.

To her surprise, when she comes back into the bedroom, he’s already awake, and quite confused to see her in his house. It’s… a surprisingly realistic outcome of the situation, she must admit.

“Uhm… What’re you doing here?” He asks, voice hoarse and slightly on the morning side of things.

“My apologies, I must’ve scared you,” she replies without advancing. “My brother sent me to deliver you some papers for work, but almost as soon as you opened the door, you lost consciousness. I brought you back to your bed so you could rest properly.”

“Papers for work… Oh, right, Xander.” His shoulders slump. “You’re Camilla Nohr.”

“It’s indeed me,” she answers with a smile. “Can I come closer?”

“O-oh, yeah, don’t even ask.” He scratches the back of his neck. “Sorry for that, by the way.”

“Sorry for what?”

“For passing out on you.” She puts the trail on his lap. “Oh, you’re too kind, damn, thanks.”

“It’s no problem, don’t stress yourself about it.” She remains standing on the side of the bed. “I was just very concerned, truth be told.”

He drinks the glass of water first. As always, her guess was right on the money.

“I get it, that must’ve been a rough way to get greeted at the door.”

“It’s not just that. You’re just as tired as Xander, but unlike him, you’re all alone.”

“I appreciate the concern, but I’m fine.” He clears his throat. “Even though I realize I can’t be very convincing on the matter.”

Her face grows sterner. This is sounding all too familiar to her.

“You’re right, you’re not very convincing.” She uncrosses her arms. “You know… It’s okay just to say you’re not okay. Especially when you’re alone like you are right now.”

“Right,” he replies with a slight smile, as awkward as it is. “You’re right. It’s just, I don’t know who I’d be telling this to.”

“I’m sure you have friends and family willing to listen to it. If you find yourself without someone, then…” She smiles again. “You’ll find my phone number written down on a note on your fridge.”

“That’s a radical way to get me to take care, damn.” He chuckles anyway. “I’m very thankful for that Camilla, I really am. Still, please tell me you’ll go home. I don’t wanna keep you here.”

“As long as you promise to rest, at least until the break comes in.”

“I will. Thanks again.”

“You’re welcome. Although, for now, I think I’ll just take some time to call Xander and tell him I’ve delivered his parcel.”

Hikaru almost jolts in place.

“Shit, the docs, yeah!”

“They’re on the drawer in the hallway.”

“Oh, good. You’re really good at this.”

“Years of experience.”

As she turns on her heel and gets her phone out, Camilla unanimously concludes she can’t care too much about people.

This Week’s Horrible-Scopes

It’s time for this week’s Horrible-Scopes! So for those of you that know your Astrological Signs, cool! If not, just pick one, roll a D12, or just make it up as you go along. It really doesn’t matter.

You’re supposed to get something from this century, not something from 1940! “Vote For Gracie” wasn’t exactly a toe-tapper, but it did get some people to write in Gracie Allen for President that year. Believe it or not she was way smarter in real life than she acted professionally. This week stop acting like you don’t know what’s going on around you.

Are you all conspiring to make a mockery of this week’s theme? Gemini? Your song only seems to have a pretentious title. “Outdoors at 7pm, Sunny Main Street”. I can’t tell you who the artist is but it’s from the Wii U’s version of “Super Smash Brothers”. The idea of cute little family-friendly characters in big-time beat-em-up gaming just says what we need to know about you. This week keep up your long-running streak of NOT kicking a puppy. 

Cancer Moon-Child 

Ok, now this is just annoying. Never mind that you’ve gotten “At This Moment”, originally by Billy Vera and the Beaters in 1986… but it’s a cover from 2009 by, of all people… Michael Bublé. Look, sure, he’s a great performer - pulling in full shows over and over again. But, look. Singers typically don’t have a successful career with albums 75% filled with covers. Unless your family name is “Yankovic”, just try to be original in your thinking.  

Leo 

OK, well… This is just getting sad. You don’t need to know what your song is, just that the band in question is called “Panic! at the Disco”. Well, it USED to be a quartet in 2004. Then they fired and replaced the bassist, then two left and were replaced, and finally it became, basically, a solo act - which will end its run at the end of March. This week stop being a prima donna.

Virgo 

(*SIGH!*) AnOtHeR CoVeR. You know what? Fine! The song is “Don’t Pull Your Love”, originally sung in 1971 by “Hamilton, Joe Frank and Reynolds”, yes that’s the group’s real name. But your version came out in 2019 by voice actor extraordinaire Rob Paulsen. This week if your plans to take over the world fail, just remember - Rob had nothing to do with it going south! Take responsibility for your own failures.

Libra ()

You’re all gunna kill me. FINE! Libra - you get the original Broadway Cast recording from the musical, “In The Heights”. We’re going to assume you only speak English for a minute. If you listen to Latin American families yelling back and forth at each other, you’ll notice that they effortlessly slip between English and Spanish, and you will never lose one iota of context. This week start learning languages that sound angry; like German… or Klingon…  

Scorpio ()

Just… What the hell is with all these covers?! You’ve got the 2000 release of “Big in Japan” by Embraced. Yes, you will recognize the song and the melody and the lyrics, but… (*Pause*)  Be ready to gargle a lot of warm salty water to heal your throat after singing along with this version. This week, put Epsom Salt on your grocery list.

Sagittarius 

WELL, now! We finally get away from all these cover songs and get to an original song for a change! The song is 2013’s, “From The Future, Next Tuesday”. Which is obviously a tongue in cheek reference to the U.S.S. Enterprise-B’s launching in “Star Trek Generations” when everything was going to be installed “Tuesday”. The band for this one is… (*Beat Pause*) OH COME THE HELL ON!! “The Shake-Ups In Ponyville”?! This is My Little Pony Fan Music?! You know what? I give up! Congratulations, Sagittarius! You did what nobody else could - you broke me. Are you proud of yourself? Hmmmm?

So like. Did Splinter decide to appoint Leo as leader last minute because Raph is a literal self-proclaimed “no plan” kind of leader- which almost got them defeated in the first fight with Shredder- and because Leo makes effective plans the whole show that don’t always make sense but ultimately ensure their victory…? And yk what I’m adding more elaboration under the cut

So going into the show, I actually already knew Leo was going to be the leader, so I was keeping an eye out to see if this switch was as outlandish as people claimed it was. And maybe it’s because people weren’t looking for leadership qualities in Leo in the beginning, but he’s pretty well built up to be the perfect leader if not for his lack of motivation/very apparent selfishness.

What I mean is that Leo has what Raph doesn’t, and that’s the ability to actually make a plan and stick to it, and being able to trust his brothers as well as himself. Because, let’s be honest, Leo has a lot of confidence in himself and knows that his plans will come through no matter what anyone says to him about them. His plans work because he can predict exactly what everyone will do even if they themselves don’t know yet, which in turn says a lot about how much Leo trusts them as well.

Raph doesn’t have these qualities and seems to take on the leader role because he’s the big brother. But he never makes a plan (which works sometimes) and doesn’t have faith in his brothers or himself (which he admits and everyone acknowledges in him). He’s still a good leader because he’s responsible, inspirational, loving and reliable, things that Leo doesn’t have which is why it feels like the rug is being pulled out from the audience in the last episode.

But when they faced Shredder for the first time, Raph had no plan. This was one of the first times Splinter was witnessing the boys in action, and Raph had really nothing to show for it. Leo, on the other hand, was more than prepared once he had all the information he needed, and even though that wasn’t Shredder at his full power, it was still more than Raph had. Leo worked with the skeleton of a plan and pulled the little details together on the fly and managed to defeat Shredder with his own wit and strategy- not to mention the combined efforts of everyone, which he accounted for and knew how to use to their advantage.

And there’s a lot smaller details throughout the show that show his capability and what Raph lacks in that place. Obviously there’s more room for Leo to grow up and improve since, like I said, he’s painfully irresponsible and unreliable, but that’s what the movie is gonna be for babeyyyy!!

The whole thing kind of reminds me of that one episode in the 2012 version where Raph takes over as leader after a fight between him and Leo. Raph doesn’t know how to strategize or use everyone’s abilities effectively, assuming he can win everything with brute force, and learns the hard way that that doesn’t work. The situations are very different, but I think the whole series has been Raph learning the hard way that his plan of having no plan doesn’t work, it’s dangerous and when push comes to shove, it could get people hurt even if his intentions are purely good.

And don’t take this as me hating on Raph because I love him!!!! He is a good leader, he takes care of his brothers and loves them dearly, and I really like that about him. I just think that none of this stuff came out of nowhere, it’s actually really well built up and I enjoyed all of it. I’m also a huge Leo fan in every version so I love this different take on him and how he fills the leadership role!
