Queen Amalthea was a beauty, and a competent one at that. (Ruling monarchs are historically male - Amalthea's only the second High Queen in all of Vesturian history.) She had to embody perfect femininity as well as keep up with the more masculine hobbies of her co-rulers. Most agree she did so with aplomb.

It's a common remark that Oscar is her spitting image.

I'll be honest, I still can't sit down and actually write anything right now, I can make it easier on myself to just do bullet points on this Halloween idea for the Dimitrescu family. I hope those who wanted to see my snippet isn't too upset about this style. I was gonna have some sort of angst but fuck it, happy Dimitrescu family. After the shit I put them through, they need the fun.

Four years after Alcina adopted her girls, she was going to go out of town during the Halloween weekend much to the girls dismay. They loved celebrating holidays with their mother and it isn't the same without her!

Alcina did see how sad her girls got, Bela understood but couldn't hide her tears, Cassandra didn't understand and was angry, and Daniela would mope so much. She hated seeing her babies so sad.

So she decided to bring the girls with her during the trip with the rule that they are to not reveal their true werewolf nature to anyone. No ears, no tail, nothing. The girls promised of course.

While out of town, the girls were on their best behavior, having talking among themselves about how if they behaved well this time, then maybe their mother would take them out of town more often.

Mind you, the family at this point have moved into their newly built estate. They're still not used to going out and about.

Someone in the conference had suggested Alcina to take the girls to a carnival that was built and hosted by high school students in the city they were currently visiting. (Think of it like that carnival in Halloweentown High if you've seen it.)

Alcina did feel bad that the girls would have to miss out on possibly their first time trick or treating, and they actually have been well behaved during their trip! Aside from children being children of course. So she decided to take them to the carnival as a surprise for them.

There were a lot of booths with games, snacks, prizes, they even had some rides that the faculty rented out, (not cheap rides, some good ones) and even a haunted house for the families to enjoy!

Then an idea struck Alcina, this once she told the girls that they were allowed to have their ears and tails out on display since they didn't have any costumes to wear. With everyone dressed up and running around, no one would suspect her daughters so long as they don't pop their traits in or out of existence within the public eye.

And of course, no transforming.

The girls were super ecstatic. Needless to say, they all had a ton of fun while looking at all of the booths. And Alcina fared so much better since the sun was not out.

Games were played, prizes were won, candy and treats were earned! And it warmed Alcina's heart to see how happy the girls were when many children complimented on the girls with their "cute wolf ears and tails."

Bela and Cassandra begged Alcina to go to the haunted house, but Daniela was too scared to join in. So Alcina waited for her girls right outside the exit while staying with Daniela. Even if they went in alone, she would know if anything were to happen to the two while they were inside.

Nothing happened aside from the terrified screams of her two oldest daughters being scared and running out through the exit, laughing from the fright.

They all returned to their hotel room, her girls having been exhausted and sleeping with a giant plush dragon that Alcina won for them from one of the games.

Alcina stored all of their treats away for them to enjoy on the morning of Halloween and managed to tuck herself in the bed without so much as stirring her girls.

While this was a very unconventional way to spend Halloween, Alcina was very happy that she decided to bring her girls with her. The joy they all felt whenever they wanted her attention, to point out all of the booths and decorations, warmed her heart.

As she watched them sleep comfortably, Alcina wondered how she was so lucky to have them in her life.
