Avid makes a series of stupid decisions which lead to him being jumped by a vampire in a shady alleyway in the middle of the night. that's it that's the fic

In hindsight, Avid had made a lot of very poor decisions in the past 24 hours, and really, this whole situation could have been avoided if he'd been more careful. It turned out that staying up far too late, sleeping in and being late for work, and going home late at night to make up for it wasn't the choice he should have made. Because now, he was walking home alone. 

...In the dark.

...On a side-street that no one took because there was no good reason to pass through. 

And he had a suspicion that he was being followed. 

There was a green glint, a reflection of light in the shadows of the alleyway near him. Near-imperceptible sounds of objects rustling in the wind passed right by him. 

Avid ducked his head and walked a little faster. As soon as he made it to a better lit-up street, he'd be safe. He just had to hope that his stalker wouldn't make a move before then. 

Unfortunately, and as he expected, luck was not on his side. He had barely stepped in front of another alley when a hand shot out from the darkness and grabbed him. In mere seconds, before he even had time to react, there was a hand over his mouth preventing him from making any sound and he was pinned against the brick wall. The person's grip was so strong it felt almost inhuman. 

Avid couldn't see anything but a faint glow of eyes, mismatched bright yellow and blue. The green glint he'd seen earlier must have been something else. 

But then, the person opened their mouth, and Avid's stomach flipped into his throat. He'd thought their strength had been unnatural, but they had fangs. The sharp points caught the light, gleaming menacingly. 

Thoughts racing, Avid started to properly panic. What kind of a person had fangs? 

This person, whoever they were, definitely weren't human, so he could confidently cross that option off the list. 

While he'd been thinking, Avid had missed the person saying something to him. 

He never found out. 

They swooped in, towards his neck, and there was a stabbing pain in the side of it before it went all tingly and Avid started to feel woozy. The sensation of something warm and wet over the wound was shockingly not unpleasant. 

Wait- were they licking up his blood? W- they werebiting down again, they were drinking his blood, what the hell-

Something in the back of his mind told him that this was either a real vampire that had attacked him or someone with a very strange fetish... although given the earlier evidence, it was almost for sure the former. Either way, he was still bleeding profusely from his neck, so it didn't matter much to him in the moment. 

He got ahold of himself and managed to bite down on the hand over his mouth. The vampire (vampire!) yelped, and let go of Avid for a moment, and he made a valiant attempt at leaping for the edge of the alleyway, but he only made it about a foot before he was thrown to the ground, the vampire pinning him once again. 

"Well, I tried to be nice about this, but you just had to go and make this difficult. You're tasty, though, so I'll give you a free pass if you just hold still..." 

This time, Avid was paying attention when they talked. Their voice had an undertone of off-ness that he supposed just came with the whole 'hungry vampire' package, but other than that, it was actually very nice.

At least, it was nice until he got bitten again, and apparently the woozy-tingly feeling from before had been something the vampire did because he felt it again but about a hundred times stronger. His limbs felt like lead, and he was all of a sudden too exhausted to talk at all. He couldn't move his arms.

Which sucked, since he was no longer being forcibly muffled. 

He tried to roll away, out from under the vampire, but they were a little bit bigger and a whole lot stronger than him- especially in his venom-induced sleepiness. Unless hallucinations were on the list of side effects of vampire venom, he was being laughed at. 

"I'll give you points for entertainment, at least! It's fun to watch you struggle."

"Ss... shut up," Avid slurred. 

The vampire sounded surprised. "Huh, you can still talk! I'd have thought you'd be near completely knocked out by now. I'm not done eating yet, though, so you can actually shut up. It's harder to not injure you horribly when your throat's moving."

"Nnnngh." In an act of defiance that Avid did not know where he summoned the courage for, he turned his head over to look at them.

"M-hm. Yeah, I said no moving, actually! Here, I'll help." 

The absurdly strong hands went to his chest and his head, rendering him completely immobile. Then, the pain in his neck returned, albeit slightly less noticable now that he wasn't fully... present. Even if he still thought he had even the slightest chance of getting away, Avid just didn't think it was worth trying anymore!

Hopefully, he'd forget about this by morning.

They were sitting on the floor of the Mallahan living room, cleaning up a game of Parcheesi. Lemony had lost handily, as he usually did, and was currently frowning at her with his arms crossed. “This isn’t fair, Moxie. Can’t we play something else? You always win at Parcheesi.”

“Well, perhaps you’re just a sore loser.”

“I am not a sore loser,” Lemony said sorely.

“I’ve been trying my best to help you, Snicket. It’s not my fault you keep leaving pieces out to fend for themselves and then getting surprised when I capture them.”

“That’s not the point.”

Moxie stood up to return the box back to its place on the high shelf. “What on earth is the point then?”

“The point is that I’m plain sick of Parcheesi, is all. It’s impossible to win.”

“There’s a difference between you being bad at it and it being impossible to win. Chin up. You’ll to win soon enough.” The statement was completely empty of any real meaning. Moxie doubted he would be able to win a single game with his level of skill.

Lemony flopped over, face down on the hardwood. “You’re right. It’s improbable that I wouldn’t be able to win a single game. Maybe we just have to play more rounds. It’s simple statistics.”

“I thought you were sick of Parcheesi. And I don’t think that’s how statistics works.”

“That’s absolutely how statistics works,” Lemony mumbled into the floor. “One of my associates back in the City is a very talented engineer.”

“What on earth does engineering have to do with statistics? Those are entirely separate fields.”

“I just meant she’s better at math than I am— and I don’t think that’s entirely true, anyhow.”

“Whatever you say,” she huffed. “All right, I’ll go back and get the box if you really want to play another round. Are you going to get up from the floor?”

“No.”

“Alright. I suppose you’ve ceded victory already, then.”

yeah koby would show up Luffy's second year since koby is a year younger than him. So Ace and Sabo (and bepo(he's there too)) would be graduated and i bewieve luffy would take over as captain and start recruiting more strawhats on the team like usopp and chopper(when luffy is a senior) and im thinking sanji would transfer to their school during luffy's second year.

Zoro is already on the team but he would be held back cuz he's ass at his grades and he would also be kicked off the team at the end of the year because of them too, ha loser. he'd get back on it the following year though. Sanji would also have failed his senior year. He would have failed out of his highschool and have to retake senior year at sha chishiki.

By the way, all of their ages are the same in canon. theyre just a little younger so they can be in highschool.

im imagining some romeo and juliet shit happening with luffy and koby. I really like imagining Sabo fucking hating the naval academy, Ace not really hating them but thinking koby is a wimpy little crybaby and hating him anyway. And one day Luffy brings Koby over their house just to throw around the ol' volley skin and ace and sabo being like "What the hell is that doing here."

and luffy being like "He's my new friend :D we'll be in the backyard so we wont bother you guys" and as luffy and koby walk past the two older brothers, they both give koby a Scowl For The Ages.

i just love imagining Sabo and Ace detesting Koby in general. Theyre so sillyyy~~
