Slapped in the face by emotions while working. Had a song come on my Spotify Discover and one section of it immediately made me think of House finding Thirteen and keeping her from overdosing at the last possible second in In the Dirt. This line is the kicker and makes me think of the House POV bit where he reflects on those moments that's going to end up in chapter five: "If you changed anything, would you not have survived? You're alive, you're alive, you're alive."

         “ considering the amount of times i’ve come to this store, i would surely hope so. ”  joonwoong replied in a lighthearted and playful manner, smile appearing on his lips as he looked over to hyuk, not bothering to hide the fondness in his gaze. although he said it jokingly, it wasn’t exactly a lie  —  in the past few months, he had found himself coming to this place more often than he could ever possibly need, only so that he could steal some moments away in the company of someone he had grown rather attached to. it was definitely not the most rational decision joonwoong had ever made, especially with the amount of breaches it opened for people to see him in a position he did not want to be caught in, but he simply could not help himself at this point. the more times he came, the more drawn in he felt. 

         while they were at the store, there was only so much that joonwoong could do, however. a subtle touch to hyuk’s waist while passing by him, fingers that brushed together while exchanging money for whatever snack he had picked for the night. although it was all very minimal, it was almost thrilling  —  and it left joonwoong wanting more every time. more of the skin to skin touch, more of his warmth close to him. with his gaze still locked on the other’s, he reached out casually to brush a strand of hair away from hyuk’s face, a small smile appearing on his lips even as he lowered his hand again.  “ i would like to see you outside of this place for once, though. would that be okay? ”

There's like 30 baby crows eating out on my lawn and I'm losing it they're so cute, I feed the crows every morning and now there are baby's on my deck!!

(he concedes that it would be totally fair for her to be pissed about it, he’d have been pissed about it if he had been nat too).

there’s a pause as he considers the option suggested; he doesn’t like torture, doesn’t see the benefits, as it doesn’t always get anyone to talk in a way a thorough interrogation might. but his morals were always a little… looser with this crowd. the plan was often to kill them on sight anyways. and with no civilians in the way, the idea isn’t so appalling. people like to say james is a bad influence, but steve’s never been the paradigm of morality that people like to say he is.

lips tick up in a smile, unable to help it against the force of james's grin.

“what d’you think the odds of getting any real torture in would be before he bites down on whatever capsule he’s got hidden in his mouth are?”

someone else taking out their target could make a bigger deal of things. the way he and steve work now, how well they work now, it's an easy takedown. again, he understands steve's reasoning. the hostages. although, if it had been a few years ago, james would've gone through with it anyway. his moral code is so fucked that taking out a huge threat at the cost of a few wasn't such a bad thing. but as unfortunate as it is, steve has gotten to him in many ways. he's taught him a little more patience and humanity. he's no longer a machine. he has to remind himself of that even when it never feels true.
