My Hero Academia Original Characters
My Hero Academia
I figured give some information on a few MHA/BNHA OCs I’ve had in my notes app for a while.
Hirosa Kairi - The Emotionally Charged Hero: Morose
Kairi Hirosa is a student of UA High School in Class 1-A. She was born on January 10th and is a Capricorn.
Her parents are secretly training her to be a powerful villain so that they could defeat her and climb the hero ranks. Her and Shoto use to be best friends before their quirks manifested. His father and her parents separated them.
Her Quirk is called “Moody Dark”. She can instantly change her mood so she’s sad and upset. The people surrounding her feel her sadness. Her sadness contracts their muscles and causes them to clench their arms and legs before hitting the ground.
Shigaraki Tanaka
Tanaka Shigaraki is the child of All For One and the adoptive sibling of Tomura Shigaraki. They were adopted by Inko Midoriya. They were born on March 28th and they are an Aries.
Tanaka inherited their father’s Quirk.
Todoroki Naya - The Cold Hero: A Shooting Star
Naya Todoroki is the fourth child of Endeavor and the older twin sister of Shoto Todoroki. She was born on January 11th and is a Capricorn.
She left middle school one year earlier to enroll into Shiketsu High School. Her father being the #2 hero (at the time) was the only reason they let her in that early. She hates Endeavor just as much as Natsuo does, but keeps quiet about it. Her relationship with Shoto is heavily strained due to her believing Endeavor favored him over literally every other child.
Like Natsuo, Fuyumi, and Rei, her Quirk is “Frost”. She can cost herself completely in ice as well as generating it from her body. She mostly uses it to coat the area completely in ice so she can use her skates that are on her boots.
Bakugou Yoko
Yoko Bakugo is the older sister of Katsuki Bakugo. She was born on April 5th, making her an Aries.
She left home not long after Katsuki developed his Quirk, though she didn’t leave because of him. She truly loved her brother. Only being 9 years old, she didn’t know where she was going and crossed paths with Toya Todoroki. The two stuck together and thrusted themselves into a life of villainy.
Her Quirk is the same as Katsuki’s.
Talyn Sage - Brain Drain
This is basically just me but in MHA / BNAH. Taking a lot of creative liberties with my own backstory.
Talyn was born/raised in America, but moved to Japan shortly after the death of Cathleen Bate / Star and Stripe . The two had been neck to neck for almost 5 years due to Cathleen being America’s #1 Pro Hero and Talyn being the most feared villain in America. Even though it looked like the two hated each other, Talyn still respected Star and Stripe and felt a giant gaping hole in their chest when she was killed. Moving to Tokyo, and waiting out the current arc in the manga, Talyn sets their plan in motion. Their motive? Fixing the world.
Talyn’s Quirk is “Brain Drain”, from a long line of brain related quirks. Being a 4th generation Quirk user, their Quirk surpasses the capabilities of their father’s, grandmother’s, and great-grandmother’s Quirks. “Brain Drain” allows their brain to exceed superhuman speed, allowing them to be almost omniscient, but too much at one time will leave them tired and their memory suffers.
Mikumo Noriko - (yes I did make an OC for the prototype AU)
Noriko Mikumo is the younger sister of Akatani Mikumo / Yamikumo (prototype Deku). She was born on March 25th, making her an Aries.
She goes to UA High and is in the same class as Akatani. She has an unhealthy obsession with Yuu Uraraka (prototype Ochaco Uraraka) and Katsuki Bakugo, constantly stealing clothes, shoes, blood, books, trinkets. Anything she can get her hands on. The cardigan she wears all the time was stolen from Katsuki.
Her family used to perceive her as Quirkless (like Akatani), until she managed to get a taste of Katsuki’s blood. She constantly seeks him out for more of it, for reasons she doesn’t want him to find out.
I have a lot more, but these are the ones I’m actually planning on writing into stuff.

Hehe thank you for answering my anon message (I’m that new anon), it means a great deal to me ily!! 😽 sorry for not putting a better TW to that 💕
TW: mention of äbusë (Todoroki household).
You raised such good points tbh, I totally see Fuyumi’s reasoning behind her actions, despite hatred for her that stems from my own personal family trauma. I totally understand that her childhood was fucked up and her desire to get a real family now that she’s an adult, the trauma that comes from neglect is horrible and my heart breaks for her and Natsuo! While understanding the complexity of her thought process, what makes me mad is the total lack of respect, especially towards her two brothers who (canonically and possibly in your work) received the “worse” end of the stick. But as I said, this probably comes from my own past, which was full of enabling adults.
For the second point, yeah I totally didn’t see it like that at first, so I’m glad you gave me another possible POV!!
Thanks for taking the time to read and answer, you’re a wonderful human being and I’ve been in love with your works for months! Bmb my fav😻🤞🏾
Have a great day/night and stay blessed ❤️🧚🏾♀️✨
of course of course bb!!! <333
you know what, that's also a really fantastic point, too. she really doesn't seem to take into account THEIR experiences with enji, and tbh i wouldn't be surprised if she was treated gentler or disregarded in a gentler manner because she's his only little girl. aaaah much to think about anon much to think about!!! because if that were the case, she truly wouldn't be able to understand it from ANY of the boys perspectives. if she wasn't treated as harshly as her brothers, then it totally makes sense that she finds it easier to forgive enji for his behaviour + actions, and in turn is either unable to see past her own experiences with him and understand her siblings experiences with him, OR has much difficulty empathizing fully with them and placing herself in their shoes and asking herself exactly why the boys find it much more difficult to forgive and move past. and then taking into account how 'good' and obedient she is (ie taking on the role of homemaker once her mother was sent away, etc),,,,, oh my gosh a very good point anon!!
OH hehehe well you're welcome!!! <333 i always say that, you know, everyone has their own personal interpretation of a piece of art (in general, any type) and no two interpretations of that piece will be exactly alike because no two people are exactly alike, so i always consider your interpretation of one of my pieces as the reader just as valid as my interpretation as the writer/creator/artist (something i learned in school and an idea sparked by barthes' 'the death of the author' essay in the sense that i agree that a piece of art has endless meanings and there is no ONE singular 'right' or 'true' meaning to any given piece, and that the author's meaning is only one of many). you glean what you glean from the piece based on your own personal experiences, thoughts, opinions, beliefs, etc; there's no right or wrong answer when it comes to art. i just wanted to share my intentions for that scene as the author in case it could alleviate some of the anger you felt towards reader for her behaviour, or just offer a bit of the twisted rationale behind her actions!! your feelings are still so very valid tho lmao and i can 100% see why you'd feel that way!!! <333
oh my gosh anon OF COURSE i literally love talking about this kind of stuff!!! like i said, i love hearing about other people's responses to my work, and why, etc etc because it once again proves exactly what i was saying above (and you've even made reference to it in your asks!): your interpretation of my work will be different than my interpretation of my work due to our personal experiences etc!! which, to me, is really cool and honestly so beautiful and one of the reasons why i love art so so so much.
GOSH I'VE REALLY RAMBLED HAHAHA oh my i'm so sorry anon!! but thank you so much aaaah you're the sweetest ily <333 i really really appreciate your interaction and your support, truly from the bottom of my heart <33 have an absolutely lovely sunday bb and pls stay safe!!! <333
#SOOOOO INTERESTING#you know???? ah i love it so much#i love the todorokis in general so much because i relate so heavily??????#i find them so so so comforting LMAO#but i also just think they're such interesting wonderful characters and so complex n dynamic!!!#so much to explore!!#anyway anon my luv <333333#i hope this week ahead treats you marvelously <33#as always keep safe and stay hydrated!!! ily lots!!!#inky.bb#clari gets mail

𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐝𝐨 𝐢𝐧 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 [𝐟𝐥𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐜𝐬]
[ᴍᴜʟᴛɪᴘʟᴇ ᴄʜᴀʀᴀᴄᴛᴇʀꜱ]
˚✧₊⁎ ★ 200 & 300 𝖋𝖔𝖑𝖑𝖔𝖜𝖊𝖗 𝖘𝖕𝖊𝖈𝖎𝖆𝖑
legend : [Y/N = your name] quirk not specific, they/them pronouns.
notes : if i get the definition of flirting wrong, then IM SORRY NO ONE HAS SERENADED ME, AND NO ONE HAS EVER FLIRTED WITH ME?? so tbh idk.. anyway im still making a new fic WAXAXA, hawks’ entry is a lil short so.. I sincerely apologize for that-
fluff - mild spice :))
*・゜゚・*:.。..。.:*・''・*:.。. .。.:*・゜゚・*
𝗺𝗶𝗱𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘆𝗮 𝗶𝘇𝘂𝗸𝘂
↠ man cannot flirt on command 💀 seriously, don’t ask him to because he will say some cheesy stuff. but he really could without even realizing it. one thing that catches you off guard is when he’s talking to you, then suddenly— his eyes drop to your lips, especially before you guys got together, and surprisingly! his eye contact game is 😳. after that, he’d be a little bit more bolder with his touches without even realizing it either so.. yeah. every day, he’ll whisper compliments into your ear— so you’d be the only one to hear them. also! he keeps extra hair ties if you need any, especially if your hair is on the longer side. it’s not a lot but !!
𝗯𝗮𝗸𝘂𝗴𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗮𝘁𝘀𝘂𝗸𝗶
↠ he likes teasing you with love, pinching your cheek, etc. (but he will probably beat the shit/stare down anyone that does the same) but he always makes sure to check on you. he’s not the biggest on pda, yet he will sling his hand around your waist, and he’ll stare at you with love, and you’d only notice it. in private, he’ll put you on his lap, and pat your thigh, commenting how soft you are just to get you flustered. you guys compare hands a lot and it’s usually in silence— since he love bullying you out of love, he loves catching you off guard by dragging his hand down your back, tricking you that he’d do something more (unless.. you want him to,) only for him to draw his hand back ;) bakugou is a major tease lol.
𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗼𝗿𝗼𝗸𝗶 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗼
↠ okay so this man is the reason why i thought of this idea. it’s canon he writes letters, so.. LOVE LETTERS!! you should be honored— his letters are close to literature. anyway, if he sees your shoe laces are untied, he will bend down to tie them, doesn’t care when or where, he will do it for you. he links pinkies with you in public especially when he wasn’t comfortable with touch yet. he looks like the type that would just.. tuck a stray piece of hair behind your ear (LOL IS THAT EVEN FLIRTING?? im sorry.) he will randomly hold your face in his hands and he will just stare at you, his stare is just full of love🤍. agh— i love him a lil too much.
𝗸𝗶𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗺𝗮 𝗲𝗶𝗷𝗶𝗿𝗼𝘂
↠ if there’s another person that’ll shower you with compliments 24/7, it’s this guy right here. will always keep your bottle of water full so you don’t get dehydrated, and he’s also the type of boyfriend to just give you a massage, just because he can. he wouldn’t want his s/o to be sore! he will also learn how to do your hair, so if you don’t feel like it— he’ll do it himself :)) if you’re eating and you have something on your face, he’ll wipe it off with his thumb. kiri really likes giving you presents (bc he thinks it’s manly :))
𝗸𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗶 𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗸𝗶
↠ cheesy puns are his trademark, especially if it relates to something relating to his quirk, or your quirk. your personal hype man, if you feel down— he’ll be the first person to tell you how beautiful you are, and he will shower you with compliments. his love language is sending you really random memes and tiktoks at 2am. he doesn’t do this to everyone bc he knows everyone will be really annoyed by this, but you’re special!! therefore, these memes are reserved for you :)) denki likes playing with ojiro’s tail, so with you— he’ll be tracing circles on your arm, running his finger up and down, while pinching soft skin. a bonus if you get easily flustered ;))
𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗼𝘀𝗵𝗶
↠ if there’s anyone that just really likes staring at his s/o intensely, then it’s shinsou, todoroki, and bakugou. since he’s always staring at you— he will notice if you have an eyelash on your face, and he’ll take it off for you, while getting up close in your face. if you’re staring at him back, he’ll boop your nose and he’ll chuckle at your flustered reaction. like shouto, he likes tucking a stray hair behind your ear— and he’ll carry extra hair ties if you need any. he’ll probably pop in a flirtatious remark here and there though, since he kinda likes teasing you (but it’s very mildly though)
𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗮 𝗻𝗲𝗶𝘁𝗼
↠ again, another person that’ll tease you with love just because (especially if you’re from 1-A.) but surprisingly, sweet talk would be one of his best ways of flirting, since it catches you off guard quite often, and leaves you flabergasted. he’ll get real defensive if anyone else teases you though! monoma will definitely play footsie under a table with you just because he can, and it always manages to put a nice flustered look on your face. it’s adorable! like kiri, he also likes giving you small presents just because he believes you deserve it.
𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗺𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗼
↠ the best at sweet talking :)) mirio is really smooth with it, and originality? 10/10. since it’s quite canon that MIRIO TOGATA IS A FLIRT, anyhow- it’s reserved for you and you only. lingering touches also count, like if you’re passing something to him, his hand will linger on yours for a little longer, before smiling at your reaction. also another killer at the ‘flirtatious’ eyes thing, if there’s anyone else that can nail it, and practically make your heart skip a beat, then it’s him alright.
𝘁𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶 𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗷𝗶𝗸𝗶
↠ never ask him to flirt, just don’t. it’s kinda like izuku’s case but a lot worse. has to get talked into doing one of those cheesy pick up lines by mirio and nejire, but it never goes smoothly on command for him. anyway- on the brighter note, his touch subconsciously lingers a little bit more than usual, he doesn’t really notice it (don’t point that out please.) and he really likes feeding you in general, since his quirk heavily involves with food, it’s practically one of the few ways this shy boy can flirt.
𝗱𝗮𝗯𝗶 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗼𝗿𝗼𝗸𝗶 𝘁𝗼𝘂𝘆𝗮
↠ oh there’s a lot to say tbh. he’s definitely not shy/afraid of making sexual innuendos as a way of flirting, and his intense flirtatious stare is one of the many few ways he likes to show interest in you, if it would be intensely looking at your eyes with those intimidating cerulean eyes, or if it would be his eyes scanning over your figure and smirking. everything besides being not so pg, another way of him flirting is lingering touches. doesn’t care where or when, but you’ll catch him toying with your fingers.
𝗵𝗮𝘄𝗸𝘀 | 𝗸𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗼 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗮𝗺𝗶
↠ tbh everyone portrays hawks as this professional flirt, but in reality he’s probably the farthest from that, since he’s kinda a workaholic. but if you’re in a relationship with hawks- then that mean’s you’re special. will he sweet talk you? yeah, but it’s most likely full of bird puns anyway, but it’s the though that counts.

Let’s say that the S/O was abused and treated horribly by every adult figure all due to being Quirkless. Parents, teacher, police officer? Nobody helped her and abused her in all sorts of horrible ways, leading to her being heavily touch starved, quiet, and covered from neck to toe in bandages to hide her scars and bruises. Can I get HCs of Sero, Todoroki, Izuku, Shouji, Shinsou, and Tokoyami reacting and giving her the love she deserves? If this is too much for you, you can do a few characters.
Comforting S/o who’s had a Dark Past
Sero, Shoto, Shinsou
hihi anon !!! To start off I just wanted to note that I made the hcs way more general than you described, simply because it was easier for me to write and certain topics you mentioned in the request I wasn’t very comfortable with writing -- as well, just a heads up that there are no explicit mentions of any of the trauma that their s/o goes through but still maybe take some caution when you’re reading just in case
I chose only 3 out of the group you requested so I hope that’s alright -- enjoy these hcs and have a great rest of your day lovely,, drop by my inbox if you ever need someone to talk to <33
Sero:
Sero just has that naturally very open and friendly personality so it’s not difficult to feel more relaxed and safe around him
He’s not the best at confronting tough situations though, so while he might not be as good with his words he would rather describe them through actions and gentle touches
Sero is always there to listen and give advice (although he’s not very confident with his advice) -- regardless he still tries his best
And he is very very good at distracting you from those nasty thoughts / flashbacks whenever they ambush you
Sero always makes sure to take notes of your hobbies, likes/dislikes so he can literally spark up a conversation with you about anything at any time to take your mind off things
He understands how sometimes we don’t really want to confront whatever we’re dealing with -- he’s more than willing to help you process your thoughts and show moral support
Todoroki:
Poor baby has been there, he knows the long lasting effects of a bad childhood and trust me he is doing everything in his might to help you get through this
He’s definitely more of a talker when it comes to these things compared to Sero, simply because he can relate
Keep in mind that this relationship is a two way street so please treat him with kindness and be there for him as well babes :(
Todoroki is also very mindful when he has to distract you from yourself
I think he would have a little comfort kit for you where it’s literally just things that will take your mind off of things and a list of topics to talk about that will turn your attention somewhere else
Of course with that being said he’s not going to just be distracting you 24/7 so when it’s time you’re ready to open up about things he’s sitting there full attention to you and ready to listen
Shinsou:
Shinsou is just naturally good at calming people down and honestly just be thankful for him
He’s just the type of person that would never lie simply because he has no reason to so it makes his words of reassurance 300% more effective
Doesn’t seem like a talker -- but I think he’s good with words (although he’d prefer to listen to you most of the time)
Shinsou’s not a very upfront type of touchy person but if he’s comfortable enough with you and you with him,, he would definitely be open to cuddles and those very long warm hugs where all his words are conveyed in the hug
Shinsou’s probably the one that will spend the most time with you out of the three in this post,, like I’m saying you two are attached at the hip
So that means he can read all your cues very easily and he can easily tell when your behaviour changes and why
Meaning usually he saves you from spiralling too much in your thoughts
ALSO ALSO he would be very quick to identify when you’re uncomfortable in a situation and he’ll be able to get you out of there asap

BNHA THEORY RAMBLING WITH SPOILERS
Okay so second bnha rambling with theories because I can’t think straight so I think of bnha! Specifically Deku.
Specifically, Deku’s endgame. There are so many theories out there and I just.... think about Deku specifically a lot. I mean he’s the protagonist and everything and I love him and a common theory that I actually do kinda think about a lot is Deku losing OFA. But I don’t think he’ll end quirkless. I think a lot of things need to happen but let’s start with me rambling about Deku’s characterization, how it can all be wrapped up in this:
Deku has PTSD. (This part is LONG and talks about masochism and mentions suicide and all that. Other points are shorter!) And I don’t mean post war arc or even post Bakugo’s kidnapping, if we want to go that far back. Deku has PTSD from the VERY start. This kid is a walking mental illness. Sources? Hi, I’m a Civilian With PTSD and I saw Deku at the beginning and I watched Deku’s horrible mental health deteriorate EVEN MORE than it started off as. This is really important to me, to state that he has it from the beginning, because I believe in the character growth and development. I might be talking out my ass but it’s fun so. Why do I say he starts out from it? Let’s look at symptoms.
A) hyperfixation, my old friend. Deku fixated hardcore on All Might and Heros in general. But he fixated specifically on All Might and he gets EMBARRASSED about it a lot. (Funny enough, the embarrassment of it is also a symptom of ADHD but I’m not as well versed in that). Hyperfixation is a very very common coping method.
B) His anxiety. Kinda self explanatory here. He’s a bully victim. He also has been literally classified as LESS. Quirkless. But also defenseless. Useless. We’ve heard that, his anxiety is there but it’s because of what DEFINES him. His self identity was born from what everyone else tells him. He’s a determined boy, but his sense of self is only wrapped up in what other people think—or specifically, what All Might thinks. Which blends a bit with...
C) A loss sense of identity. I talked about this a little bit he last part but Deku’s goal to become a hero is so tied to All Might that even when he gains the quirk, he has to have it beaten into him with warning of losing the use f his arms for him to realize he’s NOT All Might. But that’s still what he sees, even when he switches to using his legs more. He has no idea who he is. He just copies. He copies Bakugo’s moves again and again. And while it’s cool to see all the parallels and growth of Deku learning from others, there is a message of “making it his own” when Deku copies others again and again because he has no idea who HE is. He analyses like crazy because figuring out how other people do things is the only way he can figure out how HE can do things. Also, the whole language change because his image of victory is Bakugo? Literally his speech pattern isn’t his own, his every day one matching his mother’s.
D) repressed and heavily released emotion. He’s 0 or 100, both when he gets OFA and with his emotions. I mean. Feral!Deku. Do I need to say more? Yes, because I was to drive home how not okay Deku is from the very beginning. Boy cleans the beach and screams bloody murder. He has no idea what emotion to have and needs to let it out. Doesn’t matter he just did a shit ton of physical release, he has so much emotions that he doesn’t know what to do with. Just like Bakugo’s anger, Deku’s emotion usually comes out as his tears. Boy cries a lot but sometimes tears aren’t enough and Deku screams a LOT. Even his own excitement bursts out in bigger ways, with his mumbling and fact dropping (god, also slightly autistic coded maybe? Blurred lines with ADHD there, it again, not my area of expertise)
E) black and white thinking. He’s young, so that explains some of this but just like I mentioned above with the 0 or 100, he represents the mindset of civilians. He literally blinds himself at the very start to even what’s happening to HIMSELF. He sees hero and he sees villian and those are his two categories. Bakugo literally tells him to kill himself and Deku thinks about how that would negatively affect Bakugo. He doesn’t and never does see Bakugo as a villian for this. He sees “wow that wouldn’t be good for his Hero image” and because Deku sees Bakugo as a hero, everything has to fit into that. And while Deku has huge growth with this next part, he also originally viewed villains as just villains. He learned a LOT and while the society’s image becomes less black and white for him (because the whole manga revolves around the gray morality of it all) he still doesn’t see much gray area. It’s win or lose. With the sports festival, he literally won the race without his quirk. He got through the Calvary battle despite being a giant ass target. He placed in the top 8 (which he probably would have gotten higher on if his goal didn’t change) and despite accomplishing his goal with Todoroki, he broke down about not doing what All Might asked him despite gaining permanent scarring and a hell of a warning re his arms. But to point back at the beginning, this is reinforced with his entrance exam. Passing the written exam meant NOTHING because he did “””nothing””” in the practical.
F) last point, Deku’s a masochist. Obviously with the broken bones and things but I’m not even just talking about the physical damage he does to himself—which is, what, 95% of the time what he gets most of his wounds from? Anyway—I’m talking about his mindset. Masochism isn’t just the physical act of causing pain. It’s that mindset of deserving pain. The reasoning doesn’t matter. Deku only “betters” himself for the sake of giving more to others. He trains so hard, not for himself, but for others. On the outside it might seems like his goal of becoming a hero is his own but he sacrifices his body and dives into situations where he’s literally been warned he’s going to die and he just does it anyway. Eri’s Arc and him “changing the future” is what I’m referring to here and you could say “well he DID say he would change that future!” And okay, sure, but he was told Sir is never wrong. But he would rather rush into that future where he dies than take even a moment to think through his actions. But anyway, my point is him at the beginning so I specifically mean the training montage. Where he was ALREADY on a tough schedule that he knew would be difficult and he literally adjusted it and added MORE. Because, to circle back to other points because mental illness always overlaps points, he can only think of himself as 0 or 100, black and white, Able To Save or Failure. If he can’t be at 100 then he believes he deserves pain and causes it to himself. The only time he regrets his injuries is when it prevents him from giving MORE of himself to others. He learns his shoot style not because he doesn’t want to hurt himself but because he doesn’t want to become useless to others. He trains and loses sleep and puts his body through hell because he thinks of himself only as something for others. (I think wanting to save Shigaraki is a powerful moment not because it’s Pure Boy Deku but because it’a his own thinking, his OWN want, but.... it’s still not for him and will still cause him pain). And a last point on this, Heros Rising showed us that Deku is willing to give up his quirk and his dream to win and it showed us that while he believed he didn’t have any other choice, he was deeply disappointed in himself. Winning wasn’t enough. Hurting himself THAT MUCH wasn’t enough. He let All Migjt down and giving up his dreams, almost dying, becoming quirkless, all wasn’t enough to counteract the shame he held. Like god. Baby.
Other small observations or relevant commentary:
1) The doctor who told Deku he was quirkless is the same doctor who worked on Shigaraki. Same doctor who can perseve dead bodies. Same doctor who worked with AFO and all that. (See? Short! Will be relevant soon)
2) One for All is tied to All for One. OFA was literally created the moment a hand reached out to help. Can one even exist without the other?
3) Bakugo needs to apologize. Horikoshi has literally said in an interview post Heros Rising that Bakugo needs to apologize. Sacrificing his life to save Deku is NOT how you apologize to Deku. Deku will ask for a receipt on this type of apology. Return to sender. Unacceptable. So. Bakugo needs to apologize.
4) Deku’s dad isn’t in the picture yet. Hasn’t even been spoken of except for the fact we know his quirk is fire breathing and his name is Hisashi. Oh and he’s abroad. Oh and Horikoshi said he’ll be in the picture at some point. Given we’re in the final arc......... this might not be relevant at all to my theory because I have mixed thoughts on AFO being Deku’s dad but it would connect a few things in the theory.
SO. Finally, all of this together had me thinking about Deku’s characterization and what this (now with COMBAT related ptsd and not just civilian ptsd) means for his ending.
Like I said, I think he’s going to lose OFA. And I originally didn’t think so because Heros Rising showed his losing it and why would they do that again? The movie is canon. Horikoshi himself said so and was a huge part of the production of it. So they did that and wouldn’t do it again. Except.... Deku GAVE OFA away. Which is significant because it was his choice. And he had shame and we witnessed how much that hurt him, but we haven’t seen what’s now been tried TWICE: OFA being forcibly taken from him. Maybe by Shigaraki, since that is building up big time. But maybe by saving Shigaraki.
Either way, what’s more significant to me than how he has it taken is what that means for him, based on everything else above: he would lose his entire self identity. He would literally have no idea who he is anymore except for the only reference he’s ever had, which his from when he was quirkless. He gained friends only after he had a quirk. Every bond he has is tied to him being a hero and he was told it was impossible for him to be a hero without a quirk. Even All Might’s adjusted answer to him at the beginning involved giving him a quirk as the answer for him being able to become a hero.
I think this is the absolute perfect chance for Bakugo to say “since when did you need a quirk to be a hero”. And it doesn’t matter much what the context is, what causes Deku to still need to be a hero (whether a Situation or just an identity crisis) and I think about Quirkless Deku as a hero a lot, since that’s how he was originally written in the one shot before he was revamped for bnha.
But I don’t think Deku will end quirkless either because of who his doctor was. I think Deku had a quirk. I think the doctor stole it. Whether that’s because AFO is Deku’s dad and saw his quirk and knew he had to take it for some reason or whether it was independent and the doctor saw it and took it. The whole toe thing can be written off so easily that Deku could easily have had a quirk at some point.
And maybe, if AFO and OFA are cancelled out, the quirks that were stolen go back to their original owners. Meaning Deku gets his ORIGINAL quirk back.
As in, Deku gets his own identity.
And what would that quirk be? Hm. I don’t know. But. His mom can move small objects. His dad can breath fire. A mutation, maybe? I’ll leave that one up in the air.
And there are a lot of implications here that this could mean for him, as far as healing. And I just want him to be happy.

Long Night in the Valley chapter 5
Toshinori found himself thinking about his brief and extremely ill-advised time as a quirkless vigilante. He had a sinking suspicion that it because of his uninvited mental guests, but he couldn’t exactly do anything about that. Between the two of them, Izuku had always been better at the mental portion of their quirk.
He finished washing the bleach out of Izuku’s hair and couldn’t help but wonder if Izuku had ever contemplated going down that path. It had been cruel, and knowing what he did now, he would never repeat it, but his speech to Izuku on that rooftop had been intended to keep him from making the same mistakes Toshinori had in his youth.
If Nana hadn’t picked him up… he shuddered to think what would have become of him. He’d certainly been in over his head, hitting far above his weight class.
Although, to be honest, they weren’t in a good position right now, either.
“I’m sorry,” said Izuku, softly.
“It isn’t your fault,” said Toshinori.
“But I couldn’t make him leave. And now he’s going after your secrets.”
“My boy, they sent a highly skilled infiltrator into your mind.” Toshinori was not entirely sure how he knew this, but it felt correct. “You don’t have the training to combat that. What you have done is remarkable.” He toweled off Izuku’s hair. The damp and the product had conspired to make it less fluffy than usual. “The last you told me, you couldn’t even manifest fully in that place.”
“I tried to distract them,” said Izuku, miserably. “It didn’t work. It—He’s still there.”
“It’s alright, it’s alright,” said Toshinori. “Other than One for All, I don’t have any secrets worth all these tears.” It might be annoying if they found out about all the illegal stuff he’d done over the years, but most of it would be nigh-impossible to prove. “Let’s get you into that suit.”
“Right,” said Izuku, peeling out of his clothes. “Why a suit, though?”
“It’s something you’d never choose to wear and relatively anonymous,” said Toshinori. He started to put on his own coat, checking that all the hidden pouches were filled. To stay true to his disguise, Izuku was only carrying a messenger bag, and they would need the supplies.
“How do I look?” asked Izuku. The first thing Toshinori noticed was that he hadn’t bothered with the tie, but Toshinori had planned to take care of that from the beginning.
The second thing—
Toshinori did not blanch.
Of course, that’s what he looks like, whispered seven or so voices. Knew from the beginning. Have to read the DNA to rewrite it. Can’t give this to just anyone.
Yes. Of course.
“You look wonderful,” said Toshinori, reaching for the tie. “And also unrecognizable.”
“Well, that’s the point, right?” asked Izuku, running a hand through his hair. “So… How are we going to do this?”
Toshinori made a face. He wasn’t terribly good at this part. There was a reason he’d relied so heavily on Sir Nighteye once upon a time.
“I… could come up with a plan,” proposed Izuku. “Tell me how Trace’s quirk works.”
.
The fight reached the other side of the tunnel, and spilled out into bright, yellow sunlight. Midoriya had been fighting Iida up until a moment ago, but upon exiting the tunnel he had run off. After stabbing Suzuki in the eye with a pencil.
Meanwhile, All Might, Teenage Menace special edition, was holding his own against them.
One thing Aizawa didn’t understand, though, was why All Might wasn’t using his quirk.
Thankfully, after leaving the tunnel, the boy began to falter, and then ran off after Midoriya. Aizawa wasn’t interested in pursuing either of them. Were there questions he wanted answered? Yes. Did he want them answered at the cost of invading his student’s privacy and breaking his trust? No.
In the meantime, he did have to see if the idiot needed medical care. That was, unfortunately, part of his job.
“Want help with that?” he asked.
“No,” said Suzuki, pulling the pencil out. In less than a second, his eye was fine. “That hurt,” he complained.
A small part of Aizawa mourned the fact that breaking Suzuki’s legs would not be enough to stop him. A small, but very present part. He pushed it away. Thinking on might-have-beens was illogical.
“Sensei!” called Uraraka. “I think we’re in America. All the signs are in English!” She pointed.
The signs were, in fact, in English. Considering how much time All Might had spent in America, it wasn’t terribly surprising that Midoriya would construct such a place for him in his mind.
… Although, he had to wonder why Midoriya’s mind had a teenage vigilante All Might running around in it. Because if he were Midoriya in this situation, and he could pick any All Might, he’d pick top-of-his-game natural disaster All Might, so, this had to be an All Might that Midoriya just. Had. For some reason.
“This proves it,” said Todoroki.
“Proves what?” asked Aizawa.
“That Midoriya is All Might’s secret love child.”
Iida sighed, heavily, leaving off prodding his formerly impaled shoulder.
“Think about it!” said Todoroki, as emotive as Aizawa had ever seen him. “Who else would All Might tell about his dark past?”
Regrettably, he had a point.
“Add that to the quirk, and the smile, and how they meet up for lunch at least once a week—”
“That is literally the dumbest thing I have ever heard,” said Suzuki. “All Might is a natural-born hero. A pillar of society!”
“Yes?” said Todoroki, squinting at Suzuki as if daring him to say something that made sense.
“He isn’t going to have a secret love child.”
Regrettably, he also had a point.
“Much less one like Midoriya Izuku.”
Okay, the point was gone.
“In any case, black tentacles are not at all like All Might’s general enhancer.”
“It is like his mother’s, though,” said Todoroki, “and even though I keep saying ‘secret love child,’ my current theory is that Midoriya-san and All Might are, in fact, married, but they had to do it secretly, so that All Might’s enemies wouldn’t find them.”
“Todoroki, please, you can’t just spread baseless rumors like that about your classmates!” said Iida, chopping at the air. “Much less your classmate’s families!”
Todoroki looked hurt. “But I have evidence!”
Aizawa should probably put a stop to this, but he kind of wanted to see where it was going, and there was no way this was true. At all.
If Midoriya was All Might’s kid, he would never shut up about it. All Might, that was. Midoriya was, evidently, capable of keeping secrets.
(On the other hand, Aizawa didn’t have a better theory for their obvious close bond.)
“What evidence?” asked Iida, clearly intrigued despite himself.
“Midoriya-san is amazing.” Todoroki’s eyes sparkled like he was in a manga.
Aizawa sighed, he should have known the ‘evidence’ would—
Wait.
“Where’s Uraraka?”
.
Uraraka really should have been paying more attention. Especially after all the situational awareness classes Aizawa-sensei had given them.
Izuku didn’t blame her. This was a distracting situation, and he rather suspected being asleep and ‘dreaming’ was affecting their judgement.
Still. It was almost too easy to pull her to the side and through a door into another part of the dreamscape.
But after that, she shook off his grip and readied a fighting stance.
“I don’t want to fight,” he whispered, making a quelling motion.
Uraraka looked like she wanted to believe him but frowned. “Sorry, but I kind of find that hard to believe after you stabbed Iida. I mean, I know you’re under the effects of a quirk and all, but you’re still under the effects of a quirk.” Despite her words, she matched his volume.
“I know, I know,” said Izuku. “It looks bad, but…” He wrung his fingers together and adjusted the sleeves of his uniform. “There’s something you guys need to know about what’s going on, and you were easiest to grab. Can I explain? I’m not going to fight you guys anymore. Not like- Not like I was.”
Uraraka sighed and relaxed her shoulders, just slightly. “Alright, Deku, I—” she faltered. “Midoriya.”
“You can still call me Deku,” said Izuku. “I mean, it is my hero name.”
“Yes, but… they used it to hurt you, didn’t they?”
Izuku shrugged. This wasn’t the conversation he wanted to be having. “If—I guess, if you want, you can call me Izuku. It would feel weird for you to go to calling me Midoriya.”
Uraraka blinked. “Are you sure?”
“Yes?”
“Then you have to call me Ochako!”
Izuku blushed. “Okay,” he said, in a tiny voice. He coughed. “So. Um. Imagine, imagine you’re in a room.” He gestured at the facsimile of the American diner. “You’re standing in the middle.”
Ura—Ochako nodded. “Sure,” she said.
“Right. So, you can’t see all the walls at once, no matter how you turn. Unless, like, you have some kind of vision-related quirk, or a quirk like Shoji’s I guess.” Izuku shook his head, putting aside that train of thought for the moment. “Does that make sense, so far?”
“Yes,” said Ochako, “but I don’t see what it has to do with… this.” She spread her hands in front of her.
“Well, um. It’s what was going on back there,” he gestured vaguely towards where they’d come from. “From the beach until the tunnel. You were in my head. Kind of… inside my personality, I guess? So, you couldn’t see the whole thing at once. Just the walls from the inside. Each, um, each one of me? Each one of me was like a different wall. You couldn’t see the whole shape. They were incomplete.”
“Okay,” said Ochako. “But that should still be what’s happening, then, right? We’re still in your head.”
“Yeah, that’s why I needed to talk to you. You aren’t. You’re… This me, the me you’re talking to, right now, I’m complete, because you’re seeing me from outside, now. Well, mostly complete. Like, you can’t see the other side of the room from the outside… Oh, no, All Might is right, I’m terrible at metaphors.” He buried his face in his hands.
“It’s fine,” said Ochako. “But, um. You’re saying we’re in someone else’s head?”
“Sort of. Just… not my dreamscape. Mindscape? It’s-It’s complicated.” He lifted his head.
“D—Izuku-kun, is this All Might’s mind?”
It was going to be pretty obvious once everyone woke up, so Izuku nodded.
“Why?” asked Ochako. “How?”
“I can’t explain everything right now. It’s too much, and I don’t know if the commission has someone listening with a telepathy quirk from the outside. I know they’re not using it on me, because I’m awake, but—”
“What? You’re awake?”
“Sort of, sort of. It’s a side effect of what’s going on here. I woke up when Suzuki-san shot me. And I’m sort of on the run. It’s really, really, not something I can give details about, though, because, you know. Listening.”
Ochako took a deep breath. “So, what did you want to tell me?”
“Well, all of that, but also, we need to coordinate. It would be best if we could get Suzuki-san to stay in one place, but I don’t think that’s going to happen.”
“We were trying to do that before.”
“I kind of thought so,” said Izuku. “The problem is, if you’re moving around, you’re going to run into All Might like you ran into me back in my dreamscape. If Suzuki-san’s quirk works the way I think it does, and he keeps using it on me, that’s not a problem at this point. But if he starts using it on T—on All Might, that’s different.”
“You know what his quirk is?” asked Ochako, raising her eyebrows.
“I think he can make people think of particular topics,” said Izuku. “Like secrets and stuff. Which is why him realizing he’s in All Might’s mind would be bad.”
Ochako nodded and perched on the edge of one of the tables. “All Might was number one for so long,” she said, “I’d be surprised if he didn’t know a whole bunch of different classified things. Should we try to go back?”
“… I’d say yes, but I need my brain power for escaping, not rendering traumatic moments from my childhood, and I know a lot of different classified things. Some of which are, uh. Significantly more recent. Plus, I’m not sure All Might will let you go back.”
“Oh,” said Ochako, tilting her head. “Don’t take this the wrong way, but there isn’t any truth behind Todoroki’s secret love child theory, is there?”
“Absolutely not,” said Izuku.
“Okay. I’m guessing you have a plan?”
“More like a distraction,” said Izuku. “I don’t know how well this will work, but…”
.
“You know,” said Izuku as he shouldered his bag, both fascinated and horrified, “with your head shaved and the face mask bit, you kind of look like, you know.”
“Ah,” said Toshinori, uncertain how to react to realizing that he had dressed both himself and his successor as their worst enemy. “I suppose,” he said. “The coat is very different, though.”
“Yes. It is.”
“Speaking of which,” said Toshinori, forcibly changing the topic, “remember to take the tie off if you get into a fight. It’s too easy to grab on to.”
Izuku nodded, partially distracted by all the conversations happening in his head. Then he blinked.
“Vigilantism?”
Toshinori shrugged sheepishly. “Did you ever consider it?”
All Izuku had ever wanted to do was help people. Save people. Heroics had been the best option. For a while, the only option. In theory, a person could get into heroics on merit and skill. Everything else… Anything like a doctor or a police officer or a lawyer… It would have been impossible for a quirkless person. Even finding housing could be difficult for the quirkless, because most landlords made people disclose their quirks, to ‘prevent accidents from bad quirk interactions.’
Toshinori wrapped an arm around Izuku’s shoulder. For a moment, Izuku had forgotten he’d been listening in. For a moment, he’d forgotten how bitter he could be about that particular
“Not then,” he said. He’d known that he’d never survive without training he couldn’t get except at a hero school like UA. “But now?”
“Heh. We’ll make quite the duo, won’t we, my boy?”
They needed to leave. Before Trace got too close. They both had their directions, but it didn’t really matter if they remembered them clearly or not. Not when they could hear and feel each other, and they had so much help.
They exited the hideout, climbed up through the storm drains, navigated through the building above them, walked a block together, and split up without another word.
Trace’s quirk could tell where a person had been. She wasn’t as good at determining when they had been there. Any trails left within two hours of each other looked more or less the same, according to her registration with the hero commission. According to an interview Izuku had seen her give once, in the aftermath of a kidnapping, after ten, the trail disappeared entirely, and she needed to have the trail to follow it.
If Izuku and Toshinori looped over their trails often enough, she wouldn’t be able to tell which trail was which. With luck and planning, they could lead her in maze-like loops, break their trail up with buses and jumps between buildings, and get a head start on her. A head start that they could use to outdistance her, because her tracking quirk took time to work.
At least, that was what Izuku hoped would happen. In reality, the commission records tended to be out of date, heroes rarely gave completely correct information about their quirks to the public, and even Izuku’s encyclopedic knowledge had limits. After all, encyclopedias gave only short overviews of their subjects.
But there had to be some relation between reality and record.
And if it didn’t work… Izuku’s self-preservation skills was trash, but eight minds whirred behind his, more than ready to put theirs to work for him. The consensus was to fight, and, in this state, they would operate by the consensus. Nine of them together.
Nine here, keeping them physically away from the commission. Nine inside, keeping their secrets safe. Nine keeping the doors strong and the vault clo—
He stumbled at the unexpected direction of his thoughts. His head throbbed.
It would be much easier if they weren’t in his head anymore.
He hurried forward.
.
Miles away, in the most secure prison in the country, the guards of the most dangerous villain in the worlds scrambled for answers. They had sedated the man known as All for One to what was, frankly, a dangerous degree. He hadn’t so much as twitched in hours, nor had he spoken, even before that.
His brain activity was elevated.
Highly elevated.
It had been for hours, and they had no idea why.
.
All for One smiled at the vault door in front of him. It had been a long time since he’d seen it, but, nevertheless, his memory of it was pristine. It was, after all, a place he revisited often in his thoughts.
Wondering, wondering.
But this wasn’t then. This wasn’t a result of him being lost in thought. Oh, no. This was something infinitely more interesting. Infinitely more valuable.
He ran his hand through his curly hair and hummed contemplatively. Interesting, interesting indeed.
He walked to the door an ran his fingers down the cold interior, the little scrapes and knicks catching at his fingertips. Now, this, this was more detail than he had retained, but not, perhaps, more detail than, say, someone who had been imprisoned here for a long time would recall.
A smile stretched out over his face, wide and sparkling and full of glee.
This, he thought, would be quite amusing.
He pulled back his hand and made a fist.
“Knock knock, little brother.”
.
Izuku slowed to a stop in the middle of the sidewalk.
That.
He blinked, hard.
That would be a problem.
He started walking again, faster.
.
Toshinori leaned against a grimy city wall, out of breath. The mask was thick and made it hard to breathe, especially with his singular lung.
Of course, what had him gasping wasn’t anything physical, but the massive weight of dread that had just settled on his chest. Was Izuku in trouble? Did the commission get him?
No.
Slowly, unerringly, he rotated until he faced Tartarus.
Ah.
Not again.
.
Izuku broke off mid-sentence and grabbed Ochako by the wrist as the restaurant vibrated.
“What was that?” asked Ochako.
“A problem,” said Izuku, staring off into the distance, as if he was seeing something completely different. Well. He could be, Ochako realized.
“Something in the real world? Wherever you are?”
“No,” said Izuku. “Change of plans. You guys really, really need to get out of here.” He pulled her out the door onto the street. The sky was rapidly darkening. He seemed to realize he was still holding onto her, and blushed, dropping her wrist. “S-sorry.”
“We don’t know how, though. I thought that was why we were doing the distraction.”
“We don’t know how, but…” Izuku bit his lower lip. “Yeah, yeah, no, one might be able to do something. But if they’re closer… Can’t just wait. Can we still wait? What do you think? What… That would work? Maybe. We can work with maybe. Seven, that’s too far. Okay, yeah. Yeah.”
“Izuku-kun?”
“Sorry! Sorry. I think… I think you might have to go forward after all. The others have been here longer than I have. They know more.” He started running down the street. “Come on!”
“Others? What others?” asked Ochako, hurrying to catch up.
“The, um. The others we’re connected to, me and, and All Might.” He wasn’t looking at her as he ran. “If you ask them—They’ll know more than me. They’ve been doing this longer, and this is tangled in one’s quirk. One of them might have seen a quirk like this before, been in this position before.”
“But—”
“It’s just really dangerous for you to be here right now.”
“Why?”
Izuku stopped and bounced in place. “Weakened mental immune system, basically. Something else is trying to get in. Can’t do both at the same time.”
A building behind him exploded into rubble. He winced.
“What’s going on?” asked Ochako.
“Flashback,” said Izuku. “Toshinori…” He shook his head and pointed down a cross street. “If you go this way, you’ll be able to meet back up with everyone.”
“What about the plan?”
Izuku shook his head. “Just try to stay alive, for now. This isn’t going to be fun. I’m sorry, I have to go!”
Before Ochako could protest further, he was gone.

Crackpot Theory Extension on the Dabi is a Todoroki
okay, hear me out
as crazy as this may sound and maybe it’s not because someone else thought it too we just need to put both our crazy brains together and talk I have this idea that what if, WHAT IF--
It’s not that Dabi is a Todoroki
But Dabi’s best friend/closest compatriot was Touya Todoroki.
“How the fuck did you get to that idea--” So this is what I’ve been thinking.
1 - The Backstory
- Dabi and Touya Todoroki were classmates in school, whether all throughout elementary, middle and high school, debatable but possible, dunno. They were best friends and Dabi’s watched Touya come back to school, dejected and useless and somber and clearly lacking in the love and attention he deserves in a proper household. Dabi knows it’s because of the fact that his father’s Endeavour and Enji doesn’t even give this kid the time of day because
Touya’s Quirkless.
How could the man striving for the top position, instilling his hopes into his next generation ever want anything to do with his firstborn being Quirkless? (cause this is all pre-enji being a better guy anyway)
the eldest and unidentified sibling is significantly shorter than both Fuyumi and Natsuo. I kinda can’t help but wonder if this meek and quiet, clearly nervous looking kid with body language has more to be nervous and afraid about because, well, he’s Quirkless, he didn’t even stand a chance.
- When they get older, Dabi suggests and talks Touya into running away with him. Their society isn’t worth a fucking dime anyway so the two of them, with some coaxing on Dabi’s part, leave their homes and try to live life on the streets the best way they can (this covers the bases where the Todoroki family isn’t aware of Touya’s current state and why Natsuo goes and says ‘and what happened to big bro Touya...’ Shouto would be too young to really properly remember the face of an elder brother who’d run off)
“Let’s run away.”
The abandoned clubroom isn’t really much of a secret hideout. It’s musky and there’s dust on some of the shelves, but they’ve stashed old gym matts and magazines in here to keep them entertained and comfortable. The small window that opens up to the outer edge of the school is propped open with a slab of broken wood and there’s a bit of sunlight streaming in, dark orange and molten with the evening coming.
It hides them from the rest of the world and that’s enough for him.
Touya makes that funny face he does when he’s heard another of his crazy ideas and is pretending like he didn’t hear it right. He feels a crooked grin starting to crawl over his lips as he watches Touya. The sunlight just barely ghosts over the top of his head, turning his red hair ruby.
“I think Okinawa’s nice around this time,” Touya says finally. “I’ve always wanted to bring one of those lion statues home for my mom. They ward off evil, y’know.”
“Wherever the fuck you want to go,” he says, sitting up straighter and turning toward him. “Just as long as we go.”
“For how long?”
“Forever.”
Touya puts the book in his hands down. His eyes are a ridiculously pretty shade of turquoise, like chips of the sea frozen over. Touya hates them though because they remind him of his dad.
“C’mon,” he tries again. Now. It’s gotta be now, Touya. “Think about it for a second, it doesn’t sound so bad, right? We’ll take whatever we can carry and just go. My old man doesn’t give a shit about me with that broad around and your asshole father won’t even blink an eye. Let’s just go.”
Touya bites his bottom lip. The look on his face tells him everything he needs to know that this plan might actually work--Touya’s making the face that says he’s thought of it before.
“I can’t,” Touya says.
“You can,” he says firmly, coaxingly. He plops down beside Touya so they sit shoulder to shoulder and he leans into him a bit. “What, you don’t want to rough it out on the streets without those nice maids and fancy food at your beck and call?”
Touya laughs and he knows he’s getting somewhere. “I can’t because I’d have to be rooming with your smoking ass--”
“Cause I’m hot?”
“Cause you literally smoke, dumbass. And plus...” Touya trails off, staring at his hands. “What about Yumi and Natsu? I barely even talk to Shouto and...”
Touya stares harder at his hands, lacing them together. “What about mom?”
“We go away for awhile then,” he says suddenly and Touya watches him. “We go away for awhile. We get older. We come back and we sweep your family out from right under his thumb and we live happily ever after. How about that?”
The smallest smile stretches over Touya’s lips and he knows he’s almost there, he just needs that final push. “When’d you get so optimistic?”
Since you gave me a reason to actually want to be someone’s hero. He shrugs, tugging on one of the piercings on his ear. “I’m the brains and the brawn, remember? I cook up the plans and you tag along with my stupid shit.”
Touya turns his head toward the window. A little breeze tugs at tufts of ruby red. He turns his head a little too to see what Touya was looking at and sees nothing but the school’s concrete wall isolating them from the next street over and a short stretch of grass. There’s cigarette butts scattered on the floor from his bad habits and Touya always tells him to clean it up before he’s caught.
“It’s going to be hard,” Touya says.
“We’ve dealt with harder.”
“I don’t know if I can handle your dumb, smoking ass.”
“I’ll become a rich hag’s call boy and warm her bed up a bit and then we’ll be living the good life, nice and cozy.”
“You can’t even cook.”
“But you can.”
Touya laughs. It’s the happiest sound he’s heard come from Touya’s lips in forever and then he turns those pretty sea eyes his way and he smiles at him. His inky black hair brushes against ruby red and he sees Touya’s eyes take him in and then they go somewhere far again.
So he calls him back.
“He’s never given a damn about you,” he says, a quiet, husky whisper, “you don’t owe him anything.”
Touya’s eyes see him again and he knows then that’s he’s finally beaten Enji Todoroki, the Number Two Hero.
“Okay.”
- They live like this for awhile, maybe even stooping to the occasional petty crime but they’re happy and Dabi thinks this is the best fucking thing that could possibly happen to both of them in this shitty word
- a tragedy strikes, some punkass villain or psycho ormugger or whatever happens, Touya gets hurt so bad and it’s too late for them to get to a hospital, Dabi’s stuck cradling his best friend in his arms screaming for heroes or for someone to do something please but no one comes
- Dabi breaks down and kills the villain/mugger himself, takes Touya’s body away and makes the turn to follow Stain’s ideology because what kind of world is it where the people who were supposed to save and do good won’t even lift a finger unless there’s a paycheck behind it, Enji won’t even miss his son because he wasn’t worth anything anyway
- the villain Dabi is born
2 - The Reasoning
- With their current society, there could actually be a really fair amount of the population wielding fire related Quirks, this is cemented during USJ attack when the villain holding Kaminari mentions their electric type Quirks and Jirou’s like yeah your type have it easy
This scene:
- Being because Dabi’s heard plenty of stories of the cute youngest brother who’s their father’s prodigy now because he’s finally the result Enji wanted. Touya isn’t bitter, maybe sad and wistful because he, being Quirkless, could probably never be a good enough older brother for a kid like that
- Dabi thinks its ironic and laughable that the perfect son is here, failing before him now and he just thinks of the huge hole losing Touya has left inside him
- I’m all aboard the Dabi is a Todoroki theory and heavily lean toward it too, but just for the sake of this crackpot theory, what if this whole confrontation is easily explained because, well, Dabi fucking hates Enji. He abused his son, Dabi’s best friend, forced him into a corner and never gave him the time of day, doesn’t even know that Touya’s gone and you know what? It’s time to pay
- Dabi could have easily let even just a little more slip about this whole thing and we would’ve gotten the confirmation that he is a Todoroki, and it’s either because Horikoshi just wants to tease this big reveal OR it’s because Dabi isn’t a Todoroki but just has a vendetta against them because of Touya
3 - The Conclusion
Dabi probably is a Todoroki since Horikoshi’s stalking tumblr anyway, but in the off chance this crackpot theory is actually plausible
Dabi’s just this guy who lost his best friend and now he wants to see the world burn.
- I finished my astronomy final and this is what I came up with

on references to greek mythology and buddhism in boku no hero academia along with other mythological references
all for one he has a hades motif Much like him, no one dares to speak his name, so they only refer to him as euphemisms, (in this case, "All For One" and "Sensei"), he is heavily associated with death, with Midoriya saying that being near him is like being near death and after arrested, he is now staying in a place called Tartarus.
Gigantomachia a reference To the Giants of greek Mythology. Similar to them he is a gigantic humanoid being and his name is the name given to the battle between the Giants and the Olympian gods
hawks to icarus
Icarus was a guy who grew cocky despite his father's warnings and flew too high, resulting in his wings burning and him falling to his death. Hawks has wings, seems rather arrogant/brash, and ascended incredibly quickly in the hero rankings.
Hawks is now working with Endeavor who could easily represent the sun, and there's reason to suspect Dabi, another fire user, will be involved in this arc.
There's also that panel of him flying up with a bright light shining behind him, which others have already noted looks like a Icarus reference.
hawk is connected to Icarus. A young, arrogant and talented Teen Genius with large wings. This is lightly alluded to in a shot of him spreading his wings close to a light source, being that Icarus is better known for flying to close to the sun.
He also mentions that his flight is compromised the more feathers he uses, similar to how Icarus died when his when lost too many feathers and he plummeted to his death. Becomes less subtle when he sends his feathers to a grievously injured Endeavor while the latter is fighting High-End, giving him literally flaming wings.
. plus the whole line about hawks going too fast reminds me of icarus going too high hawks rose to great heights to quickly
hawks also mentions that his flight is compromised the more feathers he uses, similar to how Icarus died when his when lost too many feathers and he plummeted to his death.
lbwings . tumblr . com/post/176325008443/why-this-is-bad
I was worried since Hawks was introduced and pulled his stunt of flying up by the lights; a total Icarus move. The only confirmation I needed on him being screwed is if his wings were RED.
This is bad because I am an old enough US comic book reader to know of a character named Joshua Guthrie codename Icarus. (Marvel) Who lookie lookie- Had big red wings-
Lets just say that things did not go well for Mr.Guthrie. He lost his wings (cut off), his healing ability, was used by a ‘nice talking’ enemy and getting his friends/team slaughtered. All before getting killed himself.
I know how much our lovely BNHA creator loves US comics so I was worried when I remembered Mr.Guthrie.
gabrielashy . tumblr . com/post/176312262468/todoroki-touya-as-a-reference-to-greek-mythology
todoroki touya as a reference to greek mythology
so the most recent leaks for the kanji for touya are 燈矢 - light and arrow.
dabi-todobroki . tumblr . com/post/181189168456/dabi-and-touya-names
“
Dabi is written as 荼毘 (だび) which, when plugged into a translator, means cremation. This is the unofficial name of his quirk. However, when separating the kanji’s we get something else. 荼毘 translates to a weed, help, and assist while だび translates to the name David from religious stories. Completely separate, the kanji’s translate as follows: 荼 (a weed), 毘 (help, assist **this also brings up various religious terms**), だ (means to be or is, but it connects with the terms worthless, male, and safe), and び which literally means beautiful, but has connections to illness.
Touya’s name is written as 轟 (とどろき) 燈 (とう) 矢 (や). 轟 (Todoroki) is referencing power, roaring, and fame. 燈 (Tou) is defined popularly as light, but also as eternal flame, and a weed called a sun spunge. 矢 (ya) means arrow Both make several references to weeds and gods/goddesses. “
considering horikoshis use of greek mythology in bnha this could be a reference to apollo, god of light, whose main weapon is, you guessed it, the bow and arrow.
apollo, also the god of the sun, drives the sun chariot across the sky everyday - therefore connecting him to hawks/icarus.
the apollo/touya theory could also hint at how old dabi is - he is the eldest son
and it may be because he’s fuyumi fraternal twin, who would be artemis in this metaphor. her hair’s even white/silver, which is associated with artemis and moonlight!
finally, interesting to note for those hoping for a dabi redemption arc - apollo is also the god of medicine and healing. fingers crossed!
#like apollo is ALSO the god of plague (see: the iliad) so thats a connection to shigaraki
As for the Artemis is Fuyumi part, from what I remember Artemis is (among other things) a goddess of the moon which only appears during the night the coldest part . of the day
“ Fuyumi means winter beauty but if broken up differently could be read as "fu - yumi" or Fire Bow. Touya read straight means Lantern/Lamplight Arrow (basically a flaming arrow)”
to quote @reindeer-games2011
reindeer-games2011 . tumblr . com/post/181818950271/touya-and-fuyumi-can-be-twins
“We’ve already determined that Touya is the oldest son, meaning he’s older than Natsuo and Shouto. In the card, it lists the siblings from oldest to youngest as Touya, Fuyumi, Natsuo, and Shouto. We have ages for everyone else, but not Touya? I think we already have his age, he’s 22 (23 now). But he’s listed first in the card? Yes, but he could be Fuyumi’s older twin. An example of this would be the anime Blue Exorcist (Ao No Exorcist). Rin and Yukio Okumura are twins, but Rin calls Yukio his little brother. They’re twins, but Yukio’s the younger twin. The same could apply to Touya and Fuyumi. They’re twins, but Touya was born first.”
Shi Hassaikai as a whole based off of a subversion of buddhism specifically its Eightfold Path, with Chisaki acting as a Buddha analog. and chisaki and the eight expendables are a corruption of the buddha and the eight precepts
the eight expendables
They seem to be themed after the Eight Precepts of Buddhism. Rappa's bloodthirstiness is a violation of the first precept, which forbids causing harm and taking lives. (Subversion: Of the first precept of Buddhism's Eightfold Path, "I will abstain from being harmful to living beings." ) Setsuno, whose Quirk lets him teleport small objects into his hands, violates the second precept, which forbids theft and willfully misplacing items. (Subversion: Of Buddhism's second precept of its Eightfold Path, "I will abstain from stealing", as his Quirk allows him to steal anything. ) Rikiya Katsukame, whose Quirk is touch-activated and makes some creepy comments about Nejire, violates the third precept, which forbids sexual activity.
(subversion Of Buddhism's seventh precept of its Eightfold Path,"I will abstain from listening or playing music, songs, wearing flowers, jewellery and other ornaments", as his Quirk generates gemstones.) Shin Nemoto, whose uses his Quirk to force people to tell the truth so he can Break Them by Talking, violates the fourth precept, which forbids lies and harmful speech. (Subversion: Of the Fourth Precept of Buddhism's Eightfold Path, "I will abstain from uttering lies"— his Quirk makes it nearly impossible to lie to him. ) Deidoro, the alcoholic, violates the fifth precept, which decrees abstinence from alcohol. (Subversion: Of the fifth Buddhist precept of the Eightfold Path, "I will refrain from intoxicating drinks and drugs which lead to carelessness". ) Tabe, a glutton whose Quirk lets him eat anything, violates the sixth precept, which forbids eating outside the appointed times. (Subversion: Of Buddishm's sixth precept of its eightfold path, "I will abstain from eating after noon time", due to his Extreme Omnivore tendencies. ) Hojo, whose Quirk lets him generate crystals on his body, violates the seventh precept, which forbids wearing luxuries like cosmetics and jewelry. Tengai, whose Quirk generates an impenetrable shield, violates the eighth precept, which forbids resting in luxurious comfort. (Subversion: Of the Eighth Precept of Buddhism's Eightfold Path, "I will refrain from lining or seating on high and luxurious places"— his Quirk create a near-indestructable barrier, somewhere where one can essentially take shelter during harsh circumstances. )
Meti『Not The Bad Guy』 goes into chisaki being a corruption of the buddha in his video the beauty of kai chisaki/overhaul
the guy goes into it chisaki is a corruption of the buddha references and he also brings up the eight expendables reference to eight precepts starting at 9:30 bringing up things I didnt mention in relation to their quirkand kanji of their name then he so just check out the vid for the part about how chisaki is a buddha analogy
youtube
ibara shiozaki is a reference to jesus her being a devout christian and Quirk is likely a reference to Jesus Christ and the 'crown of thorns' that was placed on his head. she even has a sort of crown of thorns This is also referenced in her hero name Maria, a reference to the latin name for the the Virgin Mary.
Her birthday is September 8, which is also the birthday of Virgin Mary.
Her Hero Costume consists of a plain white robe, which looks similar to the one worn by Jesus Christ.
and the name of her attacks
Via Dolorosa is the latin reference for the path by which jesus walked on his way to crucifixion.
plus there are her lines "Passing Judgement" "scheming sinners more religious allusions
and her referring to gevaudan as the beast of revelation/apocalypse
Theres also uses of Shintoism in MHA like with Ujiko Daruma I talked about Ujiko in my blog here. “Ujiko” is a word used for a shrine shrine parishioner who is protected by the god they worsip in shorts a worshiper in this case it refers to who ujiko worships All for one who is a god. the kanji 子 means child and 氏 means something along the lines of "related” referencing to how he sees the nomu as his children. Daruma refers to how his head looks like a draruma doll, and how daruma dolls are seen as a good luck charms referring to how his sudden appearance to the League caused a shift in Fortune for them.
Apollo was also the god of oracle and prophecy. Hawks were one of the most connected birds to Apollo and were seen as his messenger.
(and as I said before dabi is a reference to apollo and dabi and hawks have a connection due to hawks role of spying on the league of villains) and I think dabi will be the one to be the sun to hawks icarus given dabi being a reference to apollo

Blog Update
Hello, everyone! I hope you are all doing well. First of all, thank you so much for following my blog. That means a lot to me and I can not believe I have reached +500 over followers. ≧◡≦ I’ll probably delete this post later, after a couple of days.
I just wanted to give an heads up about the current direction I’ll be taking in regards of my blog. This is my main account I don’t really have any other side blogs. Maybe in future, I’ll create some additional accounts for more specific things but for the time being, I enjoy sticking to my main and making it my own. I had never been a huge fan of having mutiple accounts since I get overwhelmed pretty easily. That being said, as most of you all figured out by now, (almost around %90-95) I tend to share Todobaku, Todoroki only or Bakugou only content. I sometimes throw my own edits, artwork and fanfictions here and there (and rarely something totally different) but I had been mainly focusing on my OTP for the longest time. Don’t get me wrong, I still love my OTP to ends of the world and I will continue to share lots of Todobaku, Todoroki and Bakugou centric content.
BUT...
I also will be reblogging contents from different fandoms from now on as well. For the longest time, I was just ‘liking‘ non-BnHA stuff and had been holding myself back from sharing or reblogging anything different. This was mainly because I wanted to protect the theme of my blog and wanted to keep it relatively BnHA focused. However, recently, liking the posts hasn’t been satisfying. In fact, I have this sudden urge to support all other content creators by reblogging their stuff. I am also a content creator. I know exactly how it feels like when your content gets reblogged with such lovely tags or comments. Thus, I wanted you all to know that you’ll be seeing different fandom posts or reblogs from me.
That being said, if you are curious about this update and still sticking around to read the rest of my post, honestly, thanks for your attention. You might be wondering the following: What you should be expecting from me in future and how you should be treating my blog?
1-) I will answer this question in two sections. First, if you still wish to stick around and continue to support my blog, then I’ll be making things easier for you. In past, I didn’t really use the tagging system that much, since I didn’t really have to. Like I said, my blog’s main theme was pretty self explanatory, thus, I would only tag the new contents or posts that I created. However, since I will be changing my style a little bit, in case if I share certain content you do not enjoy (for example a certain fandom or couple), feel free to block that tag and you’ll be no longer recieving that kind of stuff from me. I will be tagging everything I reblog, share and/or post from now on, so you have my word! :3 I hope this will make things easier on both of our ends. Honestly, I have no right to tell you how you should be approaching to this kind of news regarding to my blog update. You have all the rights to continue to support me or unfollow me. From bottom of my heart, I hope the way you treat it won’t change; however, I would totally understand if you wish to unfollow me cause it is totally understandable.
2-) Let me answer the second part of the question. Other than BnHA (todobaku/todo and/or baku centric content), what else will I be sharing on my blog? I am in plenty different fandoms, so I don’t have a definite answer, but I can list some of the stuff I am currently really into, or had been a huge follower for a long time. I hope this can give you a general idea. The future stuff will include but will not be limited to:
BnHA/My Hero Academia: Todobaku (aka Todoroki x Bakugou). They are my OTP and I will continue to spam content for them. In additional to that, I enjoy Baku-squad dynamics. I love Kirishima, Aizawa and Tamaki as characters. While there are some other ships I also enjoy, my BnHA related content will still be heavily focused on Todobaku and I don’t think it will change too much.
Overwatch: From this fandom, you mostly likely will be seeing Meihem (aka Junkrat x Mei) centric content. I also like Bunnyribbit (aka Lucio x D.va), Gency (aka Genji x Mercy) and Anahardt (aka Reinhardt x Ana) so I might share content for those additional ships as well.
Nier Automata: This game killed me to my core and I am in love with it so much. I can nerd about it for days. From this fandom, I really love enjoy seeing content for 9S since he is my fav character. I ship 2B9S (aka 2B x 9S) so you will be most likely seeing shippy content for those two as well.
Danganronpa: Any other danganronpa fans, upupupu? Jokes aside, I really love danganronpa franchise and I am upto date with everything (which even includes visual novels, all the games and anime adaptations). So, please be warned that my posts or reblogs might contain spoiler content. Like I said I will be tagging everything I post, so i recommend you to block the tags I use! That being said, I like plenty of ships from this fandom. The ones I am most passionate about are the following; Sondam (aka Gundham x Sonia), Komamiki (aka Komaeda x Mikan), Kuzupeko (aka Kuzuryu x Peko), Kiiruma (aka Keebo x Iruma), Harukaito (aka Kaito x Maki), Saimatsu (aka Shuichi x Kaede) and/or Amamatsu (aka Rantarou x Kaede) and Oumeno (aka Ouma x Himiko).
Akatsuki no Yona: Soooo, this might seem a little out of blue. I know that it is not a very well-known fandom. That being said, the manga is still ongoing and I am remaining hopeful for a new season for its anime adaptation. We might never get it but I will still remain hopeful. Call me delusional, hah. Anyways, with this series, I am pretty strict about my likes. I ship Jaeki (aka Jaeha x Kija) so much so I will be most likely spamming stuff related to them if I get a chance. Other than that one couple, I am not super duper interested in anything else truth to be told.
For now these are the current fandoms that I am actively a part of. This list might change in future. In addition to that, I might still reblog certain content from other unlisted fandoms if I really enjoy the post or content. My blog might contain hinted nsfw content but I will try not to share anything too-explicit since I don’t really enjoy being loud about those kind of stuff myself.
That’s all folks. Thanks for reading this all the way to the end. You have an amazing attention span and I am honored that you are that invested in the content that I share. I really appreciate all the support and thanks for following my blog once again. See ya later and as I said, I will be deleting this post later!

2, 11, 12, and 22!
Ask Lyn!! || @horncd
2. What drew you to rping this character?
TRUTHFULLY, I actually have an OC quite a bit like Todoroki. One who is the way he is because of how his father (well in my OC’s case, step father) treated him growing up, he’s quiet and reserved, bottling up every bit of anger and fear he’s ever felt in a bottle that’s bound to explode at one point or another. So when I first watched BNHA, I was drawn to two characters, Izuku and Todoroki. (Before I joined the rpc I actually wrote a really short tddk drabble aleirugla) I made myself decide on one since I still had blogs in another fandom. But Todoroki was definitely an interest of mine from the start!
11. Do you think you’ve gotten better at writing anything or any type of thing or situation since you started writing this character (or roleplaying in general)?
I haven’t had the chance to utilize Todo as much just yet, but I am stretching out my, for lack of a better word, writing “legs” in terms of him. Trying to figure him and my portrayal of him out. Because I want to do him justice, but I don’t want to ruin my own fun? if that makes any sense. I try to attach a part of my own experience to the character I’m rping as, and there are some parts of Todo that I can heavily relate to.
But in terms of roleplaying in general, I’d LIKE to say I’ve gotten better at coming up with stuff on the spot, a situation, a mindset, etc. Sure, plots are hard sometimes, but I’ve found that the more comfortable I am with someone, the more willing I am to just come up with something on spot and throw IT AT THEM FULL FORCE IN THE FACE.
12. Why do you roleplay?
I roleplay because it’s actually incredibly fun for me. It allows me to take a step away from reality, or to take the things that have happened in reality and let out those feelings in nice healthy way. So if I’m angry, I can have my character lash out, or freak out, or break down, the things that I can’t actually do. And it allows me to reach out to more people, connect with them over one mutual thing and branch out from there. It provides an even ground for two strangers to stand on and lets them become close! Its a really amazing platform when used correctly.
22. Do you like lots of headcanons or few?
I LOVE headcanons. I come up with them all the time and I incorporate them into my writing as much as I can, either mine or my partners. But in terms of actually writing them down? I’ve been really bad at because of an experience I had in a previous rpc. But I make HCs all the time! So lots of them!!

My Hero Academia Season 2 Ep. 8 – Hatsume Mei and my love for selfish characters.
I love My Hero Academia, there a lot of reason for it (and I’ll post some of them as the series goes on) but right now, the biggest one, is just the pure joy of watch and wait for the chapters of a shonen action series. It’s a simple reason (Although not the only one and, again, I want to talk about them in the future) but a goddamn powerful one, the actual experience of watch a shonen series, the sense of discovery, the excitement of wait for new episodes, is a rare feeling (Because I don’t read manga…and the ones that I read don’t give that experience because HxH is to darker (And it’s in hiatus) and Gintama is…well Gintama it play by its own set of rules) that I got to experience very little, in fact the only ones that come to my mind right now were Jojo’s (Because Jojo’s) and Kekkai Sensen…But regardless of everything, the main point here is that I love Hero Aca…and it’s new comer, the greedy, manipulative, totally selfish, charming, adorable, passionate, indisputable best girl of the season, the pink-haired tech genius Hatsume Mei.
So Mei it’s fantastic, but the question remains, why is she so fucking great? And why this type of character appeal so much to me? (We’ll go deep into my psyche so…)
All of you have been warned.
I’ve always loved stories, in any of its forms, narrative in general.
I was big into movies during my teenage years (And I’m still into them just not as much) but once I entered college, six or seven years ago, (And yes, I’m still in college because I drop my first career for mmmm, how put it?…Crippling depression? Yeah that works) I also start to watch anime far more diligently that ever before…this is also the time that I started to write my thoughts and opinions about what I watched (Which are mostly in Spanish for the record)…and I began to take some perspective about what look for, not just in anime, but in narrative in general.
I don’t wanna say that you need to write in order to have clear mind about your likes and dislikes, but it really shows a new perspective that just the mere thought or even the discussion process can’t reach, the actual materialization of what you think and the process needed to reach that point.
Introspection, interpretation, analysis, etc. etc.
In a short time, write even the littlest thought became a part of my watching anime experience with the added of concrete feedback of all my opinions. A lot of my thoughts, likes and dislikes, were define trough that process …and the moment when all the piece falls down, the genesis of the realization of my love of the pure selfish of a characters was, ironically, with the creator herself Haruhi.
I knew the series before sitting down and watched it, in all its famous and infamous glory, so I’ve not real idea of what except, I mean I knew that I would get some fun of it (Cause Ace Attorney parody) but how much? And it would be worth it?…So I saw it, the two season and Disappearance, and I liked it, a lot actually. I mean it wasn’t a masterpiece but still, it was great.
I love the first season, as a setup for The Disappearance the second season is fucking brilliant (watch it not so much, although that was the whole point) and I thought that Disappearance was a really heartfelt close for the all series (despite the ongoing light novels)…my original review was mostly about the pure madness of the first season, how good Disappearance was as a closure and “Holy shit, Kyon is voiced by Sugita”
The original post was made in a Spanish community on google+ (It’s an even longer story and you certainly don’t want to hear it) and sooner than later the question finally pop out in the comments.
Translate it from the Spanish…it goes something like this.
“Who do you even enjoy the series? Haruhi is so bitchy, selfish, narcissistic…etc, etc. ”
“Yeah, I know…and it was awesome.”
I want to have a good time, I don’t care about what you think about me, I would use all of you to satisfice my selfish desires of live and excited an abnormal life…I have this big, deep passion to make this awesome looking and incredible gadgets, I have the desire to improve in my work for the pure joy of self-improvement, I want to be acknowledge by the world, to scream to all of you out there “I’m here, this is my work, I’m the best”…and I want to live do this thing that I love.
I believe that we’re capable of selfless acts (I’m not that cynic…yet) however I’ve, may be not a problem but definitely an issue, with characters motivated by pure altruistic goals (Which doesn’t mean that they can’t be great characters with this description, Vash, Kotetsu and Saber are some of my favorite characters and all of them are huge selfless dorks…but in that case a lot the “Greats” of their characters comes from how their respective shows plays with those aspects. Vash is the nicest guy that you can come around and self-proclaimed hunter of Love and Peace which lives by the philosophy of never taking a live, however he has his amount of carnal desire, flaws and all the shit that happens post the introduction of Legato who pushes him and his ideology to their extremes. Kotetsu, in the other hand, it’s kind of similar to Deku and Almight, from the setting to their themes and, of course, a selfless hero who genuinely want to make his world a better place, however he has a lot more going on that just his superhero persona, he’s a widower, a single father with all the issue that it entails, he’s disappointed because he’s not as popular with the their audience as he would want (he’s also the greatest DILF in the anime world and yes that is a crucial part of his characters) etc, And even Saber, the character that embraces this very ideal, a King that dies for those which for her ideals and the ones that are under her command, is characterized as this stubborn girl that loves to eat, that is heavily competitive, that enjoys a good and honorable duel and the general mundane marvels of the modern world, which arc concludes (at least in my own interpretation of her arc) with her coming in to peace with both sides of her and finally able to moving forward. All three are nice, good and selfless, nevertheless they still have these edges that gives them so much more, flaws, desires, wishes, contradictions, they are still great heroes but these elements help to humanize them and gave to their arcs a lot more weight and meaning that they would have if those traits were removed…and fortunately HeroAca has something of this too, Todoroki has an interesting conflict going on with his father (His father alone and his brief interaction with Almight was interesting point that I want to explore in a future arc) I’m hyped to see the resolution for that, Ochako, Bakugo…and even Deku (As it showed in his fight against Bakugo and his genuine passion about heroes) again I love HeroAca), a certain disconnection, again, I think that we’re capable of selfless acts, nevertheless make a paragon that exist you to be that “Perfect Jesus-kun 2.0” really turns me off because it lacks one of the most important trait to any character, the human element.
All of this can be traced back to the subject of see the “Flaws” as an element of humanization, and I agree with that statement, for me the best characters are the ones that contradicts themselves, the ones that make mistakes and the ones that are riddled with faults, however make flawed hero that is still human is different of make a selfish character that is likable and relatable because his or her own selfish motives…Enter Hatsume Mei.
Her deep passion for her work is something that most of people can relate to, specially here, with people writing or drawing (Or whatever you do here in Tumblr) just for the fun of do it, nevertheless a lot of us are also here to improve in our fields (Fuck the reason that I’m here is because I want to improve my English) same as Mei, always self-critical, always searching for improves and in the end, she want to be acknowledge for the work as the best, and of course, I think that all of us are melted on joy every time that someone likes or reblog one of our post.
Passion, the wish of self-improvement, the quest for recognition.
They’re just very human emotions, feelings that almost everyone can relate on some level and that is the charm of Mei and what makes her so endearing as character (And of course, having an awesome design, a funny and eccentric personality and a nice sense of humor obviously helps, after all, are all those trait that make great character)
So Mei is best girl, she is amazing; I want to see her more in the future…but is she in my god-tier of characters?
No, sadly. She is great and I really enjoy her character but we are still talking about a minor figure that has a limited time of screen-time and hasn’t been allowed to explore her character far of her original characterization. I think that she has potential and I’ll love to see her in a more important role in the future or having an arc centered of her because, again, I really believe that she could become an amazing character of your own…
However even if that’s not the case, she is still a funny, charismatic and relatable character that just do what she loves to do, and something that’s the only thing that you need…
Hatsume…
PD. For a God-Tier example of this kind of character I always come back to Izaya Orihara from Durarara!!
He is also pretty good.

okay, i decided to disregard/circumvent the stayfocusd time limit just for tonight because fuck it, i don’t have anything to do tonight and i definitely deserve a break. and i like thinking about characters. so i just finished bnha ep 13 (the finale), and here’s my thoughts! finally on the computer yay
for those who know bnha/follow the manga, of course you’re welcome to discuss this stuff with me, but please don’t spoil me on anything or i will cry
i’m still trying to decide the fate of all might. like i said before, he started at the top and he’s got nowhere to go but down. there are a couple routes i think he could take: he lives for a while, then dies tragically but inevitably at the end like korosensei did; he gets abruptly killed off in the middle at a climactic, suspenseful moment, shocking everyone and terrifying them because what will they do without their symbol of peace; he lives, but he has to stop being a full-time superhero and finds another way to live, basically. of course, while i do like analyzing plot for plot twists and all that, i’ve always preferred doing character analysis to everything else, and i’m not that good at predicting plot.
but honestly, sounds like the dude’s gonna die. and if he does, i hope it’s soon, because this was being foreshadowed from episode #1 and i’ve been waiting this entire season, thinking every single episode, “is this the episode he’s going to die?” and he’s not a favorite, but i do like him enough (and am aware enough of how his death will emotionally wreck izuku as well as other characters) that the constant dread is wearing down on me. i am constantly in a state of terrible suspense. (but like i said no spoilers no one is allowed to tell me what happens okay i gotta find out for myself)
kind of a tangent but everything comes back to AC on this blog, so. AC changed the way i think about a lot of things because getting so heavily involved in the canon and fandom, and being exposed to others’ interests, made me far more open-minded than i used to be. for example, i really wasn’t good at shows with large casts (AC and the almost 30 students, BNHA’s students + teachers) before, b/c i didn’t track them very well and am shit at matching names to faces as well as recalling personalities, but hey, obsessing over the entirety of class 3-E for months will change that. also, all my favorites were. usually. karma types, for lack of a better phrasing. i could never relate to cinnamon roll (TM) characters. or characters who weren’t emotional disasters. (boy i had trouble liking nagisa at first.)
regarding what i keep saying about types: the girls, in terms of personalities, aren’t quite my usual thing. the closest person in terms of preference to the characters i typically like are yaoyoruzu and jirou. but honestly who cares because right now i like them all, and they are great and fabulous and uraraka is adorable and i like her a lot. i wanna see her have some character development first, though, and oh god the girls are my aesthetic. momo’s hair and jinou’s general aloof aura + earphones and tsu’s frog quirk and holy shit, pink alien girl? i don’t know her, she hasn’t had much time in the anime yet, but she’s. she’s a girl. who’s pink with alien features. how the fuck is that not the coolest shit ever
as fond of todoroki, as always. i looked up a bit on him on the wikia but i don’t want to spoil myself. but i did pick up enough to solidify my adoration for him. >.< i need to stop but god, i’m really fond of him. fuck. so fond.
izuku’s character continues to develop and it’s really wonderful. i used to live for mentor-student relationships, but then i realised (and AC did not help) that the mentor usually ends up dying, so i’m trying not to get attached to this mentor-student relationship and it’s not fucking working. the conversation he and all might had in the hospital beds at the end. shit, man. don’t get attached don’t get attached don’t get attached
something i really appreciate is that i knew this fandom really adores bakugou (and i say this as someone who literally doesn’t know shit about the bnha fandom), so i assumed he’d be one of those assholes who gets glorified by the narrative because it’s okay if he’s an asshole as long as he’s talented and handsome uwu he’s just being snarky haha how funny!! i mean yes he is an asshole but he isn’t glorified by the narrative, the narrative doesn’t hide at all that, while not totally evil, he’s a complicated character who genuinely can be unlikable and is kinda fucking awful. so that’s a pleasant surprise. i thought the narrative would revolve around him more b/c the fandom’s so fond of him but it doesn’t and i’m really glad, the whole class is really great (and imo the school too, i’ll talk worldbuilding later) and they all deserve focus.
i’m usually incredibly fond of villains, but i also mostly read YA fantasy, where the villains are very often attractive young characters who are snarky, charismatic types who draw the reader in and are way too likable. AC villains weren’t like that for me (although i ended up liking them anyway, just blame my friends lmao). the villains in BNHA so far aren’t quite the attractive young character archetypes either, but i really like them anyway. i wanna know their motivations a lot. what’s the relationship between nomu and shigaraki (i kinda already brotp it)? what led shigaraki and kurogiri to want to kill all might so badly? who made nomu the way he was? if the motive is a personal grudge or a tragic backstory, fuck. i’m weak as fuck for personal grudges and/or tragic backstories in villains, alright?
also, shigaraki’s hands shit + the way his quirk behaves/is animated is this level of slightly surreal horror — not really over-the-top gory/melodramatically creepy, but definitely disturbing — that’s an aesthetic i’m quite fond of, although only in moderation.
uraraka’s power, while hardly unusual, is imo something that can go really far and has incredible potential. it’s definitely gone amazing places in past characters who have the same power in other fiction. i wanna see her develop it.
and now i’m gonna talk worldbuilding, because while i’m not that great at analyzing it or doing it myself — i’m decent enough to pull together a convincing world for my fiction, but that’s about it, since i’m not great at understanding how the world works, let alone how changes would affect it on a wide scale — superpowers are something i’m quite fond of.
so, there’s this one YA series called the reckoners, by brandon sanderson. he writes a lot of stuff about people with magic, and i love his work, especially the reckoners. i am bringing this up for two things. one, the protagonist is also a guy with no powers who’s unusually obsessed with the intricacies of the superpowered people and their superpowers in a world where superpowers just started randomly appearing and became integrated into society, although he’s obsessed because of a vastly different reason from izuku.
two, the worldbuilding is really good, and the powers are unique. it’s very different from your typical story about superpowers. in my opinion, every kind of basic power — telekinesis, manipulating elements, reading/controlling minds — has been used. i wouldn’t say it’s impossible to come up with new basic powers, but it’s damn near close. but what’s good about superpowers nowadays, what makes them interesting and original, is not the power itself, but its limits. how far can it go? what are the weaknesses? how can it be used?
i’m gonna give an example i’m really fond of — regalia from the reckoners. she’s a character who first appears in the second book. regalia has the ability to manipulate water, which we’ve all seen plenty of times in fiction, right? but it’s not just typical shit like “oh, look at this huge tide destroying a building!” my memory is fuzzy, but one of the things she can do is use the reflections created by water as windows.
it’s hard to explain, but like, if you look into a puddle (and remember, water can reflect), and she’s paying attention, she can appear and look back at you and talk, like in a mirror. she’s able to communicate with you through it. she can keep an eye on the city she rules over because she flooded the entire place with water, making it a sort of island, and is able to watch everyone through its reflections. now that’s something new, even though water powers have been done to death.
i like how bnha handles the drawbacks of superpowers — it makes a little more unique. i’m not entirely pleased, but:
one post i’ve read on howtofightwrite (an excellent tumblr, writers who write action or anything involving combat should check it out!) is how, realistically, if you have super strength, every time you actually use it to anywhere near its fullest potential, it will fucking shatter your body. which is kinda what’s happening to izuku, i’ll explain in a sec. but like, if you punch someone, your knuckles hurt afterwards. except izuku’s punches are super super strong, so it hurts him way more than the normal person.
so i think that’s good! it’s a nice twist on how super strength usually works! but i’m still a bit displeased, because seriously, super strength is not at all new and it’s implied he’ll learn to control it instead of continuing to just have to deal with this particular drawback. all might learned to control it, which i don’t see how it makes physical sense, but whatever, fuck it, magic is magic. so i don’t think the blowback (looking for a word here?) resulting from his punches are actually because of realistic physical reasons TM that i just theorized, it’s just magic/being unable to control it, which is sad because c’mon, science and magic working together is cooler instead of “he got used to it by getting Good at his powers!”, but oh well. i’m not a doctor, anyway
honestly, i’m kinda disappointed that the most powerful heroes have super strength/superspeed, and that’s the only twist on it, and not even a terribly big one if izuku’s just gonna learn to control it through the power of experience. it’s not unique or new and i’d like to see something a little cleverer, i guess? like, i really like the idea of people adjusting to their powers and any drawbacks through just intelligence and the power of science and technology and wit, instead of practice/improvement upon the ability itself.
anyway, enough about izuku’s power. something else i’d like to see addressed is the emotional impact of izuku being quirkless all his life, and suddenly he has a power and everyone thinks he’s amazing. because it sounds like being quirkless fucked him up a ton. the protag of the reckoners is powerless and makes the best of it, and that’s what i really appreciate about the series — he never ever gets a power, he just figures out how to get through terrible life-or-death situations based on wit and his allies and cleverness and being amazing because you can still do amazing things without being born with those things. while i’m not saying izuku needed to take that route — what is it when he’s thought all his life he’s inferior, worshipped this one guy who turns out to be horribly vulnerable, and suddenly he’s got one of the most powerful quirks out there? (im assuming this gets addressed later though)
something else: how does society restructure itself now that everyone has a quirk? here’s the best thing about the reckoners: the people with the powers are the bad guys. like, not “oh, some people misuse their quirks” but almost everyone does, and what all the superpowered ones do, after they suddenly get their powers, is basically taken over the world. they’ve set up this tyrannical government in the usa where different superpowered people rule the cities and it’s basically a dystopia with superpowers, but the superpowered ones aren’t the rebels, they’re the oppressors. it’s a great twist on the typical superhero narrative. it changes the structure of society a lot. think legend of korra, but worse, more pronounced, a more oppressive regime.
so like, how does the world in bnha change now that 80% of people have a quirk? i really wanna know. UA is a start, but there’s got to be more to it than “there are schools trained to teach heroes, quirkless people feel bad about themselves, and heroes fight villains. and the villains don’t like the heroes because of that.” give! me! more! you don’t have to write me an encyclopedia of information (dear matsui, thank you for building your characters so much shit like the rollbook info exists, but not everyone does that) but what else is there? there has to be more than that.
some of the superpowers are interesting, yeah, but none of them stick out so much. i’ve read too much stuff about superpowers to be easily impressed, but really, “school of heroes” has been done a lot and while i like bnha a lot so far, they’re gonna have to go above and beyond what they’re currently doing to really impress me. rn i’m really curious what they’re gonna do with mineta ‘cause his power seems so fucking useless but he’s clearly there for a reason (how’d he pass the entrance exam?). the other powers don’t stick out much to me. stuff like tsu’s frog quirk or todoroki’s half-hot, half-cold shit (instead of just one) are just unconventional enough for me to raise an eyebrow, but not much more.
anyway. hoping they expand on that. but the worldbuilding isn’t horrendous or anything, i’m really enjoying all the powers and the worldbuilding’s good enough, just could be taken a lot farther. like, the potential is wow. god, i already love the characters so much, though
oh, also. not interested into getting into bnha fandom or the manga as of right now, and this blog is staying AC, but talking about it is still fun (i like discussing things!) and i’m gonna watch s2 when it comes out.
#bnha lb#i decided to readmore this because i realised it's 2.4k words and it's not even like structured meta just me talking

So I just finished Chapter 97, which is where the Yuuei teachers get permission for the students to live at on-campus dorms. Gonna go to bed soon, and pick up tomorrow.
Opinions on things under the cut.
Arc Commentary:
Entrance Exam (1-4): The intro to Izuku was great, honestly? I love that it’s Quirkless Izuku, who doesn’t want to give up on his dream, who wants to save people, to meet All Might and gain One for All. Also, the intro the the universe is pretty cool?
Quirk Apprehension Test (5-10): In which I learned about Aizawa being a hardass, but a well meaning one. because honestly, I’m amazed Aizawa gave Izuku a chance to prove he could adapt to OfA so quickly. Any other kid who continuously hurt himself to use his Quirk should be considered a liability. Not that Izuku isn’t, but he clearly adapted quickly enough.
Battle Trial (8-11): That Izuku vs. Bakugo fight. So good. Also, Todoroki just... one-shotting the entire thing on his own looked so cool, even if it lack basically all of the teamwork heavily implied.
USJ (12-21): Shit gets real fast. And I love it. Also, badass Aizawa, the kids being awesome despite the unexpected attack, and some proof that Yuuei’s staff are actually really cool when they’re not... you know... stuck in a classroom teaching.
Sports Festival (22-44): Holy shit guys. Todoroki vs. Midoriya. That was the best about the entire arc. I watched that entire fight in GLORIOUS 1080p on my family’s flatscreen, and it did NOT disappoint. The animators deserve mad props for the animation in the climax of the fight. It’s just, so good when we do a side-by-side comparison to the manga (as in, so faithful. I am BLESSED). Also, where I learned that Endeavor is a bastard who needs to die in a ditch and stay away from his kids and wife.
Hero Killer (45-59): Stain is surprisingly intriguing, because the dude’s got charisma. And he’s proof that not all villains are in it for the Evulz. He’s more of an antivillain to me? I do feel like the various villains joining the League of Villains because they were inspired by him would piss him off though. The brOTP of Midoriya, Todoroki, and Iida was so good though? And Izuku learning how to use Full Cowl!
Final Exam (60-69): More teachers being badass! And students growing! Just, everything about Aizawa vs. Todoroki and Momo was amazing, from Aizawa being an unexpected softy (and still badass), to Todoroki being supportive of Momo when her self esteem becomes a problem, to Momo being awesome with her Quirk once she gets her confidence back. Also, Bakugo and Izuku against All Might. just... so good.
School Trip (70-83): Obligatory training camp arc! Only, you know, it all goes to hell in a handbasket. But the kids are surprisingly good at dealing with this shit as it pops up, although Izuku being reckless with himself is forever gonna be something I lament (maybe he internalized the idea that he was worth less than others because he lacked a Quirk? And he still thinks it subconsciously because 10 years worth of behavior cannot be replaced in like... 1 year?)
Hideout Raid (84-97): The kids going on a rescue mission, and not getting into a fight. All Might retiring because he fucked himself over for the good of others and to stop All for One. Bakugou being the obstinate shit we all knew he was. Aizawa being confident in Bakugou’s morals. Just... so good.
Favorite Characters (so far):
Momo: badass, smart, awesome quirk, and she’s just... so cute? idk i just love how she’s shown to be cool and awesome and still be anxious and insecure like any other 15 year old. Also, even though she has a fanservicey costume, it’s for a reason, and it WORKS.
Tsuyu: idek? i just really like her? So calm, so collected. Also, just so freaking deadpan. I just really appreciate her cool head in a crisis.
Todoroki: I mean, he uses fire and ice, is kind of a dork, deserves all the hugs (and for his dad to go die in a ditch). And he’s pretty. He matches many of the (very general) requirements for my Favorite Character Type (mentioned in these tags)
Izuku: my god. This fanboy who actually made it by working his ass off. This guy who cares so damn much. I want to adopt him (you know, if his mom weren’t as awesome as she was, and my being a little under a decade older than him). Badass Adorable for sure. Those freckles... so cute! (also meets one of the Favorite Character Requirements in these tags)
All Might: More like Dad Might, honestly. because that’s who I really like. Not the super muscle-bound, #1 hero, but the scrawny, sickly guy who cares so damn much for his kids. He’s adopted all of them, is2g.
Aizawa: BADASS. I screech every time he gets serious because honestly, the guy has a Quirk that is really not useful for fighting multiple opponents? But he does anyway? And is AWESOME AT IT? Also, he cares so damn much for his students despite his hardass exterior. Basically, I’m saying Dadzawa. But like, the stern, tough love Dad instead of doting Dad.
Other Interesting Characters (so far):
In all honesty, most of Class 1-A??? They’re all such good kids (except Mineta).
Tenya: socially awkward nerd boy is my jam, because I can relate. But mostly it’s because he’s adorkable.
Tokoyami: Dark Shadow is amazing, and I like birds.
Bakugou: Okay, I gotta admit, his personality was not my favorite in the beginning. In fact, I wanted to just punch him in the face. But you know what? I love the fact that I get why he’s that way. I love that it’s because he’s set himself to this unreachable standard, that his issues are mostly due to his own pride and the things in his head, and not a hugely traumatic event. because there are people just like Bakugou out there, and it’s so relatable. And I actually kind of like how the narrative is forcing him to confront his issues. Because despite being good with his Quirk and at fighting villains, he’s still ending up in jam after jam, and the reasons always have nothing to do with what he perceives as a weakness. And while I would love to see someone call him out for the shitty things he’s done to Izuku, I feel like with the way the story is going, it isn’t the appropriate time for that yet. Basically, the kid’s a relatable asshole and his slow character development is realistic and just very good evidence that the universe thinks he can be better if he’s willing to try. I’m still not exactly fond of him, but I could get there if we see more character development (and an actual apology for his shitty behavior towards Izuku).
Ochako: I love her motivation for being a hero. Because being a hero doesn’t mean you can’t also make sure that the ones you love are safe and comfortable first. Heroes are still human after all.
Shinsou: this boy. someone replace Mineta with this boy. Tiny Purple Pervert for Awesome Purple Walking-Imperio. His Quirk is really cool, and would be hella useful, but the goddamn Yuuei entrance exam basically fucked him over. Plus, you know, a non-front line/offensive Quirk belonging to a decent person just seems more attractive to me than a Quirk that while useful, belongs to a boy with a pervert streak so odious that I’m surprised no one’s hurled him into the sun.
Not So Cool Characters:
ENDEAVOR: This man. This Man. THIS MAN can go rot in the deepest, darkest corner of Marianas Trench. I NEED to know how the hell no one took ONE GOOD LOOK AT TODOROKI and ask about the burn. I need to know how the hell the “#2 Hero” can get away this something this disgusting. The worst part? All the shit he’s done to his family, from abusing Todoroki to putting his wife into a mental hospital due to his abuse, was for nothing, because he DIDN’T beat All Might. All Might RETIRED.
Mineta: How did this little pervert make into the Heroics course? Better yet, how has he not been expelled for his sexual harassment of his female classmates???? Like, he's groped Tsuyu, “convinced” the girls to wear skimpy cheerleading uniforms, has tried to peek on them twice... Just, I am so offended that he gets to stick around and not be punished for his very un-heroic actions.
Monoma: Dude... just SHUT UP about 1-A being more well known than 1-B. I get the inferiority complex and the jealousy, but rubbing every perceived failure of 1-A’s in their faces is hardly heroic.
Other thoughts:
So, I blame tvtrope’s fanfic rec list for making me dive into BNHA fanfic hell, but I just kind of love the chatfic(/crackfics) that have been popping up. And anything that roasts Endeavor.
Also, TodoDeku. I’m so down for TodoDeku, honestly??? It probably won’t be canon, and I can see setup for TodoMomo and IzuOcha, which I’ll be okay with, but TODODEKU is my OTP.
