Fangs of Fortune (ep. 01 + ep. 02)
Okay, I managed to successfully not spoil any of the show's details (apart from it being stunningly beautiful), so I'm going in fully unprepared :D Already sensing a lot of drama brewing - the plot is twisting from the very beginning of the show! Even before we were properly introduced to all the main characters.
But first things first - why is everything so pretty? The people, the scenes, the visual effects, the rain falling down, the floating clothes, the makeup, those huge tears running down Zhuo Yichen's pretty face, the shots, the angles, the backgrounds, the music playing in the back.
It's just wow, the aesthetics is off-charts, delivering in each and every scene. I'm digging the desaturated bluish color palette with cyan/teal shadows, it's so moody and kind of hints at a not-so-happy story with torment and whatnot (I probably won't be able to prepare myself for what's about to come, so I won't even try XD)
Also, the visuals have a dream-like quality to them (and I'm guessing that's a thing? That's definitely a thing). All the details are crispy-clear until they aren't, and there's a very pleasant trippy feeling in the movement of the shots/camera/special fx, etc. It's very peculiar and incredibly immersive at the same time. As a viewer, you get a feeling that you're inside the show, the sets, and whatever demonic witchery is going on in the scene.
Next, Hou Minghou delivers his role like he was born for it. Regal, demonic, deceptive, sensual, sexual, humorous, cunning, gentle, caring, hurting, vicious... This man has had each and every type of emotion in the course of just 2 episodes and we still have no idea where's the real him (it's like you want to believe he's doing what he's doing out of the kindness of his demonic heart, but the history is telling otherwise). And I can already sense that the promise our boy Zhuo Yichen made to him will come and bite everyone in their pretty asses somewhere along the line (it's, like, already palpable).
Everyone has gotten deliciously stabby with our dashing demon Zhao Yuanzhou right from the first episode. Is this the show's love language? XD Because I'm sensing it is)) I have to admit it's kind of kinky. Even more than just a little. And if that's the M/M/F love triangle we're going for, then I'm all up for it :D
Oh, and all those funny moments? Going from dark to darkly humorous is just adding to the trippiness. I'm loving all of it so far - it's mysterious, incredibly intriguing, and all the characters are so delicious that I had to pause the scenes many times to grab those screenshots because of how amazing everything looks. And a lot of things are kind of... suggestive.
The show is so moody and visually stunning that I don't even have the words to describe it yet. Will need to watch more episodes to form some kind of opinion apart from 'wooooow' XD Also, it's hotter than heat itself and there are all kinds of delicious vibes going on. Other than that - so, so pretty! And fantasy-like in the best possible, albeit a little nightmarish way.
#fangs of fortune#fof#i'm finally jumping onto this band wagon#the visuals are truly breathtaking!#the plot is twisting from the very beginning#can already sense heartbreak from a mile away#but there's no turning back now XD#everyone is so pretty it hurts#gorgeousness in every scene#cdrama#cdrama review#neo hou#hou minghao#zhuo yichen#zhao yuanzhou#zhu yan#wen xiao#god bless these pretty people

How's fionna and cake so basic "these characters change positions on the stairs so they're visually in equal footing, just like we said out loud a minute ago". Remember when adventure time had simon emerge from a pool mirroring the moon card in the marseille tarot muttering something inaudible (that turned out to be the episode's title) then cut to betty howling in despair. And you just had to go "oh she jumped into the deep end even though she can't swim and will drown" all on your own. at age 14.
#i love the at episodes that are a little trippy#puhoy and floaties esp r very nice#mati barks#adventure time

It's interesting, the contrasting difference between the way that Rick sees and thinks about things versus being someone like Jerry ( this concept that the episode presented is incredibly philosophical in terms of what the difference is between a mind and a brain already.)
But generally, I think this definitely suggests that Rick is either completely miserable inside of his own brain so much the point that in mind like Jerry wouldn't be able to handle it for even one minute from the way that he sees and knows things, which has definitely been suggested throughout the series-and likewise, that he wouldn't be able to handle being inside of a simpler person's brain in for some sort of deeply emotionally and psychologically traumatizing reason that comes along with being wired the way that Rick is. Which I think is interesting, if there's anything to go by from the more nuanced and eccentric people that I've met throughout my life, who have all been completely miserable in contrast to the simpler people around them.
I think it's interesting because it seems to relate to how intelligence or at the very least being a unique thinker than the average leads to someone being completely miserable, and this is a good comical somewhat exaggeration about how mad it would make a person go to be someone who has all of the heaviness that goes on in their brain and the things that they know from intelligence, or maybe not even intelligence but even just being a unique thinker and seeing human life and existence in general in a certain way that might make them different but miserable, and contrast it to a mind like Jerry. I don't know if it was intentional or not, but I definitely see this as an interesting commentary between the contrast between simpler-minded people and more "full-headed", tormented people like Rick-or at the very least, people who are more neurodivergent, versus people who are more content and simple, and how the two would be incredibly dysfunctional coming together.
Mainly watching only the show for any kind of hint that we have towards what it's like to be Rick and his brain, and his emotional state in general, since I find him fascinating and what he represents is a character, I definitely think this is an interesting contrast about how much differently he thinks and sees things in contrast other people, and how much this portrayal is such an abrasive difference between the way that he say things and miserable he is for it and miserable it would make someone like Jerry, the "mind" of Jerry, so to speak, that he wouldn't even be able to hate to stand having that kind of brain for even 5 minutes. Speaks true to reality to me, for some reason, lol.
The reason why this fascinates me so much isn't really so much because of intelligence or anything like that, but more so the contrast between the neurodivergent and the mentally ill versus the more neurotypical and the more simple. As someone who has been miserable their entire life and has seen things very differently from the people around me and has always wondered how people are so happy and content with the way that things are compared to the way that I see them, for me, this feels like an odd contrast between the neurodivergent and the neurotypical, and how completely miserable the neurodivergent are for the way that they see the state of the world and humanity in general. The thoughtful and the heavy-minded and did the people that are constantly seeing day-to-day life with a certain kind of interpretation that is much heavier and more complex, and with self-reflection towards themselves and existence as a whole and ways that are almost incomprehensible with how much they're constantly turning over in their heads life everyday, versus the brainless and the easy minded, so to speak.
#I'm really trippy and manic depressed and in love with Rick so#I'm going to dissect every little character based hint that I can get to try to understand my husband but#*better#Plus I find this episode already oddly philosophical in contrast to how certain people think versus others and how certain people are compl#completely f****** miserable for things that are technically supposed to be considered gifts#especially bu more simple minded people#as someone who is completely f****** miserable themselves#It's one of the reasons why I ship with Rick#not because I think I'm talented or smart or special#but I do feel very extremely separated from the majority of people that I meet and I'm completely miserable for it#rick and morty#rick sanchez#there's a lot of philosophy in Rick and Morty that I don't know is intentional but speaks to me almost instantly a lot of the time#especially as a mentally ill person that struggles to relate to people or function in society as we know it#I can't even hold conversations with most people a lot of the time

boyfriend hcs + modern au kabru
Genuinely...one of the only chatacters that makes for a semi-normal relationship and and actual good boyfriend
OKAY FOR ONE MODERN AU KABRU. HEAR ME OUT. He dresses in a really specific way to me. You know how like, maybe the male romantic lead of a 2000s disney movie would dress? With the short sleeved shirt, jeans, some bracelets on either wrists?? Like it’s a very basic outfit but he doesn’t need anything too crazy. Kabru’s beauty carries him so far he seriously does not need to dress insanely well or I fear he will make too many strangers fall in love with him.
You're a bit of a fixation to him. He's not like going as far as Laios to actually take physical notes and such, but he makes a lot of mental notes about you.
The way you brush your hair? The expression you make while you focus? Perhaps even littler things like how your brow quirks when you try to be polite but he knows you're lying? Yeah. He can read you like a book.
I think this can kinda cause issues because in his little mind palace he's like. anticipating how you will react to things and has a lot of communication issues surrounding it. Instead of just outright saying things he tends to beat around the bush and test the waters before like eventually being forced to say what’s on his mind.
(Or in some cases he may feel it’s better to withhold info which like. Is an entirely separate can of worms. MAKE HIM TALK AND BE HONEST YOURE AN ADULT YOU CAN HANDLE IT).
However this perceptiveness DOES benefit him a lot and make him a good partner though. He can sense a depression episode coming from a mile away. Or when you’re stressed.
But for smaller things, he tends to keep things you like around the house and in stock. Down to your favorite chips to the body wash you always use. Just yeah 💞 He’s sweet and makes sure these things are in stock (and will bring things he thinks you’d like home now and then. He gets happy when it turns out his hunch was right!)
Never ever forgets a birthday, an anniversary, anything. If it’s a date you two deem important, he will ALWAYS get it right and you two will have plans accordingly.
Not a huuuuge PDA person. Kabru’s more lowkey, he’ll have an arm around you or a hand at the small of your waist while you two are around others. You’ll get a kiss to the cheek or a quick peck on the lips but he doesn’t wanna like. Go super crazy in public.
YOUR PARENTS LOVE HIM. THIS IS A GIVEN. Oh my God it is genuinely impressive how easy it is for him to get on your entire family's good side. He's the type of guy that gets the "so when are you guys gonna get married?" comments. If you two break up, you're getting a lot of sly comments about him being the one that got away. Future partners have HELLA big shoes to fill
And your friends? Yeah he fits smoothly into that group as well. No issues at all. I think all your friends would at least have a positive view of him if they don’t decide to start hanging out with him themselves.
Honestly, I think people get a little jealous. He likes to turn up the charm around others (for his own amusement really) and I just KNOW people are seething with jealously because he’s so charming and you are so lucky.
^ This also means he’s gets flirted with in public. He likes it, but he’s very quick to politely shut it down. But he’ll tease you about being jealous afterwards, but you know he’s not going to do anything to betray your trust.
Regarding. Kabru’s own family life. I think he’s really apprehensive to introduce you to Misril. It’s not that he doesn’t want you to know his family. It’s just…complicated. He and Misril are complicated. I think he’s gonna have to lay down some ground rules with you as to not like make things awkward (guilt trippy mom you know they vibes)

PHIA SABAN INTERVIEWED BY ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY.
SO MUCH HAPPENED IN THE FINALE, AND HELAENA WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF SO MUCH OF IT. WHAT WAS YOUR REACTION WHEN YOU FOUND OUT HOW MUCH INFLUENCE HELAENA WAS GOING TO HAVE IN THIS EPISODE?
"When I read the episode, I was so excited to be involved in that trippy dream sequence."
"I was hoping that I was going to arise from a lake of goo or something, or fly."
"But I was also really happy to stand there and talk."
"That was really exciting because we did that all in a green screen stage, just me and Matt, so it was really cool."
"I watched the last episode last night, and it was really cool to see all of that come to life."
"I was very pleased to be involved in that."
"My other thought was if she feels this kind of clarity in that scene that she has with Aemond, and that isn't historically how she's felt about her power and everything."
I needed to work backwards from there and try and work out what journey she has been on, for that moment to be so clear, when usually she's a bit more like, "Oh, there's a beast somewhere."
WHAT CONVERSATIONS DID YOU HAVE WITH SHOWRUNNER RYAN CONDAL ABOUT HELAENA'S EXPANDED ROLE AND HOW SHE'S GOTTEN TO THIS POINT IN THE FINALE? BECAUSE SO MUCH OF HER JOURNEY HAS BEEN INTERNAL.
"Actually, Ryan and [writer] Sara [Hess] and the writers, they very much left it to me as to how Helaena feels, how she connects to that side of it, and how it manifests for her, but it's an interesting one."
"The line between what I know and what she knows, I try and keep quite close together, so it's not always so helpful for me to have this really overarching idea of how exactly she plays in and what magic it is."
"Because I think every time when that happens to her, it feels like the first time."
"So I know as much as she does, in a way, but they were very keen for me to interpret it however I want."
"Then I think they're just going to weave it into the story in their magical way."
TELL ME ABOUT YOUR PROCESS IN WORKING BACKWARDS FROM THAT CONFRONTATION WITH AEMOND. HOW DID YOU GET INTO HELAENA'S MINDSET?
"How I describe it is she has this amazingly strong intuition, and things come to her as gut feelings in flashes, but they're not always clear."
"She can't always turn them into advice."
"It's more of like a feeling that takes her over."
"That's where some of those really abstract things that she mutters earlier on comes from, but she also thinks of herself and knows of herself that she's quite a strange girl."
"There's a way in which her family lets her go and be her strangeness in her room and do all of her Helaena things."
But also she partially thinks, "Maybe if I didn't have these weird feelings or this strange intuition or this really intense experience that I have, then I could be a bit closer to people around me, or I could communicate better or it would be less strange."
"Part of her represses that stuff."
"Then I think with the trauma that happened to her in episode 1, essentially the worst possible thing happened, and there's a certain amount of dissociation and almost like a letting go of that, like trying her best to be the same as everyone else."
She has disassociated from the family reality, and maybe she has stepped in a little bit more to the other place, and she has more access because she's gone, "I can't abandon myself as well, so what is this?"
"She's given it the attention and the intensity it needed."
SINCE HELAENA BEING A DRAGON DREAMER ISN'T IN THE BOOK, WHAT DO YOU THINK OF HOW YOU'RE GETTING TO CHART NEW TERRITORY FOR THE CHARACTER?
"It's really fun."
"I know that people feel so passionately and lovingly towards the original story, but I think that me, as a fan of things, I love a certain level of loyalty."
"Then I love the idea that I can be surprised or something could be subverted."
"It more flatters the audience's intelligence when you get to surprise them and subvert things, so I like the idea that people didn't see that coming for Helaena."
"Obviously, I can't watch the show as an impartial person."
I WOULD BE VERY IMPRESSED IF YOU COULD.
"[Laughs] I'd be like a psychopath, yeah."
WHAT'S IT LIKE BEING THE BRAN OF THIS SHOW?
"The thing is that I really have absolutely no idea what's happening next season."
"I think that moment in episode 8 is an example of how clear and how powerful she can be, but I don't think that's the beginning of now she can just communicate like that."
"I wouldn't be surprised if she walks away from Aemond, [mimes shaking her head and shoulders and blows out a breath], and she goes inside and goes to her room and that doesn't happen again for a long time."
"So who knows, but it would be really cool if I got to spend more time in that vision dream world."
"I would love that."
"There's that moment when Daemon's going over to the tree, and then there's a guy with a deer head or something."
"I think Helaena should hang out with him."
THEY SHOULD GO OFF TOGETHER HAVE THEIR OWN SIDE ADVENTURES. NEW SPINOFF IDEA.
"Yeah, exactly."
"That's what I want for the next season."
DOES THIS REVELATION THAT HELAENA IS ACTUALLY A DRAGON DREAMER MAKE YOU RETHINK YOUR CHARACTER AT ALL?
"Yeah, I think it's fun because it's essentially development, which is what you always hope for when you play someone."
"I just really hope that there's momentum from this, that we see her change more and more and keep on being surprising."
WHAT WAS IT LIKE FILMING THAT SCENE WITH MATT WHERE HELAENA KNOCKS DAEMON DOWN A PEG AND REALLY HUMBLES HIM IN THE FINALE?
"It was fun."
We were there on the green screen going like, 'What the hell is this going to look like?'
"But it's great to do work with the people from the other team because at this point the relationships are so bad that you're really only going to get Helaena and Daemon together in a vision."
"They're probably not going to be having lunch together anytime soon."
"[Laughs] I'd love to go and hang out with Harry Collett and Bethany Antonia and Phoebe Campbell next time."
"I'd like to go and hang out with Alys Rivers [Gayle Rankin], all the people that live in different castles."
"Maybe I could meet them in dreams."
"That would be really good."
"It'd be like ... did you ever play Club Penguin?"
[LAUGHS] I HAVE!
"It could be Club Penguin."
It's like, "Meet me here at 3 p.m. by the igloo."
That'd be so fun if Helaena could just be like, "Let's go and hang out in dreams. Go and touch the tree, and I'll be there."
NO ONE HAS EVER LISTENED TO HELAENA UNTIL DAEMON REALLY TAKES HER WORDS TO HEART AND CHANGES HIS ENTIRE COURSE. DOES HELAENA FULLY APPRECIATE OR EVEN KNOW THE PART SHE'S PLAYING IN THIS WAR NOW?
"No, I don't think so."
It's all so intense for her and so immediate that I don't think she even is always like, "I have this overarching understanding of the story."
"I think it comes to her in moments."
"Maybe it muddies the water more, but I feel like that whole dream stuff is up for interpretation as well from the audience."
"How much is she a projection of his guilt, or how much did he just need to hear that from someone?"
"It's this magical realm, so anything could be possible."
"Maybe that's something that she could say in a moment, and then she's gone from there again, and it's just like she was just being channeled through."
"Who knows? Maybe we'll find out more."
I think to her it's just, 'This is my really intense experience of being alive,' and that's enough self-analysis for anyone in that moment.
It's like, "What am I going through?"
"And then there's this clarity."
"She's got a lot to process this season."
"Bless her."
WHAT WAS IT LIKE FILMING THE SCENE WHERE HELAENA STANDS UP TO AEMOND AND REVEALS SHE KNOWS THE TRUTH ABOUT WHAT HE DID? THAT'S ONE OF THOSE RARE MOMENTS OF CLARITY FOR HER.
It's really fun to work with Ewan — yet again, I'm answering the question in an annoying way because I'm like, "I just like working with those people!"
"[Laughs] That was really cool."
"God, this is really the first time... it's the most eye-contact she's ever made in both seasons."
And she's really going like, "Don't fuck with me."
Basically, "Because I have this knowledge that's on a higher realm and I cannot and will not go and kill people for male ego and toxicity."
That's the other funny thing with this family: Yes, he's the Prince Regent or whatever, and her husband/brother is the King.
But actually to each other it's like, "You're my brother and you can push me and you can push me, but I know you."
"That is more about a sibling dynamic."
"Actually, I think that Aemond ironically is one of the people that Helaena feels she can communicate with a little bit better."
"They have this sort of affinity."
"It's just fun to play with those dynamics because she doesn't have a lot of long chats with anyone, so it's fun for me."
YEAH, THE LONGEST CHAT SHE'S HAD UNTIL NOW HAS BEEN WITH HER BUGS.
"Exactly, and they don't really answer back."
"This is very new and very overwhelming."
HELAENA DOESN'T WANT TO RIDE HER DRAGON INTO BATTLE, BUT DO YOU? HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT MISSING OUT ON THE BIG DRAGON BATTLES SO FAR?
"Yeah! It's House of the Dragon, and I've got a dragon, and I haven't got on it."
"I'm rusty."
"I really wanted to get on the dragon."
"I went and watched a few people on the buck this season, and I was so jealous."
"I'd really love to get on the dragon, or at least have a scene with Dreamfyre."
"Dreamfyre, like Vhagar, she's super ancient and big and cool."
"I'd like to see Helaena and Dreamfyre having a sort of spiritual connection, but I'm not complaining."
"I'm just happy to be here."

howdy!! do you rewatch your own work? if so, how often? im wondering if it has the same "artist just sees faults with what they create" thing, or if youre able to appreciate past projects the way they deserve
I don't, typically... usually, by the time we're finished with post production, I've seen the thing so many times that I'm thrilled to stop watching it. I'm either sick of it, or just feeling like it doesn't belong to me anymore. There are other reasons, too - Hill House was a traumatic production for me, for example, I have a lot of complicated emotions woven into it, so I haven't felt ready to rewatch that one since before it aired. Maybe in a few more years.
Somewhat recently, I've revisited a few of the older movies with my eldest son, who is 13 now. He's basically as old as my career itself. We've watched Oculus, Hush, The Midnight Club (which he LOVED, proving it worked for our target audience) and Ouija: OOE together, and each of those screenings was a really cool experience. His reactions and questions were really fascinating, and I felt like I was able to see those movies anew through his eyes. That's the closest I've come to feeling like I was really seeing them, and that's only because so much time has gone by for those. I watched the Director's Cut of Doctor Sleep a few years back at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park Colorado. It was part of a live NoSleep Podcast event, and that was the first time I'd seen that movie since it was released. It was also the first and only time I'd ever seen the Director's Cut with an audience. That was a really special screening and it meant a lot to me.
I haven't yet had the guts to revisit any of the TV series other than Midnight Club. As my kids get older, I'm sure I'll watch them all with them. The one I'm most excited to see is Midnight Mass, which remains my favorite of the shows. I haven't seen it since before it came out - I remember the last day of post on that show, watching down each episode with final mix and color. That's a series I wish I could actually watch like a viewer at home, and while I'll never truly be able to do that, I look forward to looking at it with some real distance.
There are a few of the older projects I'd be curious to watch now. I wonder how Absentia holds up - I was such a baby when we made that movie, and it's been so long. I imagine I could watch that today and have a really trippy experience. I also haven't revisited Before I Wake in a very long time, and I always really loved that script. The movie was a rough road, and my feelings were mixed by the time it finally found its finish line (Relativity Media really beat that one up), but that could also be a really interesting viewing experience at this stage of my career.
But generally, each of these movies is a journey, and once the journey is over it's tough to ever really go back. There's little point, and moving forward feels like a matter of survival. The "finished product" is only the tip of a large, deep, labyrinthian iceberg for me. It's impossible to only see what's on the surface, no matter how hard I try.
(Interesting side-note: The only exception I've found to this rule is The Life of Chuck. We just finished post production on the movie, and I've watched it dozens and dozens of times now - but I've never grown tired of it, not even a little bit. That movie is something special, and I am eager to watch it again - and again - and again. I don't know that I'll ever want distance from that one; in fact, watching it brings me a sense of joy, comfort, and safety.)

u have like .. really good taste in media , so do u have any movie recommendations ?
my top favorites right now (in order)
1. I Saw The TV Glow (heartwrenching "coming-of-age"/psychological horror/wait.. he's "coming-of-age" so quickly--? Time wasn't right. It was moving too fast. I was 19, then I was 20, then I was 21. Like chapters skipped over on a DVD. I told myself, this isn't normal. This isn't normal. This isn't how life is supposed to feel. I thought about r-- really good movie if you haven't seen it already)
2. Possessor (trippy, violent sci-fi psychological horror. i wrote a song about this one. ive seen it around 5 times now and not a day goes by where i don't think of it.)
3. The Poughkeepsie Tapes (50% satirical mockumentary commentating on how america glorifies its serial killers, 50% found-footage horror, you'll need to look up warnings for this one [or just ask me, ive seen it 4 times, i can give you in-depth CW's without spoilers].)
4. Horse Girl (a girl's spiraling descent into conspiracy. trippy, mystery thriller)
other favorites in no specific order
• Antiviral (another Brandon Cronenberg film, sci-fi thriller, taking parasocial relationships to a whole new level)
• The PowerPuff Girls Movie (underrated and one of my favorite PPG-related things ever next to the now-banned rock opera episode, See Me Feel Me Gnomey)
• Longlegs (paranormal mystery horror film, an FBI agent gets more than she bargained for when delving into a new case. ASK ME ABOUT OZ PERKINS AND NICHOLAS CAGE'S PERSONAL CONNECTION TO THIS FILM AND HOW IT SAVED THE FILM ITSELF FOR ME AND MADE IT GO FROM "A WEE BIT DISAPPOINTING BUT STILL GOOD" TO "TOP FAVORITE" BECAUSE OF HOW IT IMPACTED THE WAY I VIEW IT... IF YOU DARE..)
• Catsoup (silent japanese cartoon, short film, you can find it on youtube! two cats go on a magical, somewhat dark, adventure. visually stunning)
• The Brave Little Toaster (the only disney film that will ever grace my favorites list. incredible. the anthropomorphization of objects is stellar, the characters i could go on and on about-- and the songs are fucking great. shoutout to mass car suicide [Worthless]. also this movie inspired one of my OC stories [Curtain Call].)
• I'm Thinking Of Ending Things (adaptation of my favorite book, very different from the book but i think it brings some excellent things to the table and tells it in a very cool way. psychological thriller, mystery. Jesse Plemons is in it, they grabbed him off the set of Breaking Bad and forgot to tell him he wasn't still playing Todd. [< compliment])
• Baby Driver (anyone who hates this movie doesn't know how to have fun. action-comedy, incredible soundtrack that is SYNCED TO THE HAPPENINGS IN THE FILM, main character is an autistic CODA who i love very much, i have a deep personal connection with this movie because of the person i watched it with and the impact it had on us.)
• I Don't Feel At Home In This World Anymore (action-comedy, crime, awkward girl and her awkward neighbor [who just met her but would kill and die for her] get in over their heads trying to retrieve a stolen laptop.)
• Poltergeist (1982, my ma's favorite horror film and one of mine too. paranormal, visually stunning, the practical effects are so fucking cool. also im decently sure it was inspired by Little Girl Lost, an episode of The Twilight Zone, because it's like a more fleshed-out version of that concept.)
• Home Movie (2008, it's on youtube, i can't remember if it's like overall good but it's the only instance thus far in which i think the "evil child" trope is done well so it makes my favorites list)
• Whiplash (ARE YOU RUSHING OR ARE YOU DRAGGING?!)
• Nightcrawler (crime thriller, guy's spiraling descent into abandoning all morals for the sake of his obsessive new project, and the gripping horrific ways that this choice affects those around him)
• Dread (2009, violent horror, guy's spiraling descent into abandoning all morals for the sake of his obsessive new project, and the gripping horrific ways that this choice affects those around him)
• Raggedy Ann And Andy : A Musical Adventure (on youtube, an animated childhood favorite that still holds up. shoutout to the blue camel)
aaaand some others im prooobably forgettinggg..? tried to include a bit of as many genres i could think of, since most of my favorites are horror :)

The episode is finished and I have THOUGHTS.
Madney is married!!!!!!
We’ve made it! (Chimney nearly didn’t but regardless)
The hallucinations were trippy, man. I love Chim still being a paramedic even when he didn’t remember who he really was. Kevin!!! My precious man. The Lees! I love Chim’s little family.
Maddie’s doubt and insecurity and fear broke me 😭 girl you deserve your happiness. She didn’t hesitate; she went straight into first responder mode. Sweetheart, I love you.
Little Jee!!!
Was it just me or was everyone looking extra fiiiiiinnnnneeeeee this episode? Like slay! I’m looking at Henren and Bathena in particular. Also our resident Crockett and Tubbs.
Y’all, I need more detective Buck and Eddie, please.
I loved the bachelor party scenes! I did have to skip through a little because of anxiety and second hand embarrassment but I was living for it.
I’ll give you all my thoughts on the convo between Eddie, Tommy, and Buck in another post.
Buck and Eddie, whether you see them romantically or platonically, served tonight.
So did Buck and Tommy. PLEASE THE HUGS! THE KISS! Ohhhhhh Buck was eating up his boyfriend like a fucking 6 course MEAL. 🥘
I’m living for this. Guys this was great.

I’m very scared to watch the next episodes. Anyways hi, it’s me, your friendly neighborhood host. I got a lot of thoughts and I’m dying here 😭
MAG 72: Takeaway
Another meat thing oh god. Like I physically grimaced when Goodall had his Achilles heel cut like genuinely that’s one of my fears. Also another direct connection to like Christianity and meat. Or like kinda because in Rations I think, that guy made a prayer that was originally a Christian prayer I believe but altered it to put meat in. ALSO, Haan killed his wife but apparently she had self-inflicted wounds as well. I’m thinking this is maybe cult or some kind of like sacrificial thing going on. Maybe the wife wanted to die.
We also have Haans nephew who appeared in “Killing Floor”. He had his own meat sort of story. Guess it runs in the family 💀
MAG 73: Police Lights
I feel like Maxwell Rayner is not dead simply because it’s not the most implausible thing considering Michael Crew pops up in a couple episodes after jumping out a window. But who knows maybe Rayner is truly gone (I am betting not) also Natalie was there which definitely made me feel a little sad. I always feel a lot in terms of cults. I’m trying to figure out what Rayner and like the cult was planning on doing to the kid. Maybe kill him? But I feel like that’s too basic, they were probably doing something else. The fog seemed to hurt when it hit that one police guy like it burned him. Came out of that dusty old man’s mouth after all.
Also Basira quitting? Queen shit. I cannot blame her.
MAG 74: Fatigue
Oh yeah this is good. Something about the disjointed events really adds to the sleep deprived perspective I love it. Also MICHAEL. What is Michael I swear to god. Every appearance of this weirdo makes me more and more confused. What does he get out of this? Is it just for fun? He didn’t seem to benefit at all, like he even told Lydia she looked terrible 💀
It was said he was making spirals out of grass blades. What is with this creature and spirals, like that corridor was trippy too. I’m wondering if spirals are fractals. Lydia was drawing them for some reason. Similar to Evo’s dad in Burned Out.
And I KNEW Sasha was going through the tunnels. Like duh. I think she was the one who screwed up the quality because multiple times have electronics have been screwed around like tape recorder and the computer. I have no idea who that man is though.
MAG 75: A Long Way Down
This statement takes place after Michael jumps out the window. I guess he changed a lot. And he got some drip because why is he wearing a full suit?? I can’t tell if he actually contributed to Grants disappearance because maybe he was doing something else y’all 😭 (I’m in denial.) I am wondering what his little spell did back in Literary Heights. Did he like- bind himself with the lightning thing? I don’t know how that would work. He did say “I am yours” so did he like..sell his soul. That’s what I’m thinking.
Feeling really bad for grant. I don’t have a major fear of heights but the way the situation is described, I’d develop one.
MAG 76: The Smell of Blood
Wooo Melanie King! First time a character gave two statements which is cool. I’m wondering what kind of meme she ended up. Someone draw that.
Not much to say about this episode but oh my god I’m so happy someone noticed Sasha. I’ve been waiting for this moment for so long. I miss Sasha dude 😭
One thing I’m curious about is like…what is going to be the ending. Because right now, the institute, or technically Jon, has so many probable enemies right now. Like you got the Church of yada yada, the circus, Fake Sasha, all those diseased people, Michael, the Lukas family, etc. Who is going to drop the other shoe? Because right now, they all have the other shoe istg.
#the magnus archives#tma#tma podcast#my next post will be about the ending of season 2!#I’m very excited and terrified.#praying my man Jon is left unscathed (he will not)#I just want to finish this podcast so I can read the fanfics#do you know how painful it is to listen and not being able to read the fanfics#like I could but I’m terrified I’ll get spoiled#that’s most of my scrolling rn#zabala0z thoughts

S3 EP16 (The Mark Of Gideon) hmmm this sounds like something from supernatural…
I’m sorry I’ll never mention supernatural again:
- Sending Kirk down by himself? His boyfriends will be worried :((
- “I shall be interested in your description, Captain” “You won’t have long to wait.” This was said with so much lust
- Kirk calling to anyone and everyone. “Bones. Bones answer me.” D:
- Spock has immediate concern for his boyfriend
- Spock sees McCoy is on the bridge and immediately wants to escape to the planet. He’s not dealing with McCoy’s worry on top of his own
- “We must acknowledge once and for all that the purpose of diplomacy is to prolong a crisis.” Spock is so so angry he can’t go looking for his boyfriend
- “You mean you’re going to scan space for him.” My god he wants that man so bad. Scanning the entirety of space when he goes missing is not normal behaviour.
- Spock is very bitter towards bureaucrats and diplomats this episode and I agree
- Hey Kirk. Just this once buddy, don’t kiss her. Can you do that?
- On the video call McCoy looks seconds from snapping and Spock is right there with him
- I love when everyone was on Spock’s side like ‘yeah they fucking suck, I’m sorry bbygirl’
- Quilt ass vest
- Scotty is not going to take them besmirching his transporters
- Spock needs to go listen to Break Stuff
- Kirk’s ass It’s sad how sad Kirk is.
- pretty privilege
- “I envy you and your sense of loyalty. I want to ease your feeling of dread, your fear that all your crew no longer exists.”
- twenty four minutes and fifty seconds in. He’s kissing her.
- THE GREEN PEOPLE ARE JUST WATCHIJGBTHEM KISSWGAT
- ID BE SO FREAKED THE FUCK OUT NAH. No. Legitimate fear is to look out a window and see someone watching. this is a no.
- Time for me to ask what is happening
- Aaand they’re using Kirk in their little fucked up little experiments
- Spock is angy
- I like how there is legitimate character development. Spock and McCoy aren’t fighting, McCoy knows Spock is doing everything he can, short of just running in there. And Spock is getting visibly pissed off which McCoy I think would be proud of if their boyfriend wasn’t missing
- Kirk not afraid to fight some bitches
- “That’s the best possible decision you could make, Spock. I’m with you.” Kiss each other Character development yay!
- Spock is using ‘logic’ to break the rules and save Jim.
- Spock is protective of McCoy, McCoy is protective of Spock
- After Spock leaves Scotty walks up to McCoy with this look like he’s about to ask him if he’s dating Spock
- “I will not be long.” Is the equivalent of ‘I’ll be right back’ number one rule is never say it
- Trippy ass shippy
- If you’ve lived so long why are you dressed like that? Can’t contract a sickness AND can’t contract a sense of fashion
- This is awful
- Spock should’ve brought McCoy with him
- Spock THREW that man
- Spock is like, ‘don’t get in the way, I will bitch slap you.’ (Edit: three Spock comments in a row)
- PRETTY BOY PRIVILEGE (what’s got you smiling like that) if he smiled at me like that I wouldn’t survive
- “As crowded as my planet is, I wish for it to hold one more person.” *smiles* “Kirk to transporter control one to beam down to the planet Gideon.” ‘nah, bitch’
Development: I’ve found out how to cross things out I’ll use it for evil

To be honest, I REALLY enjoyed this episode. We got so much fanon confirming content!
✔️ Someone is going to knock on Maddie's door and she's going to have to experience that heart sinking moment of - is it her baby brother or the love of her life? Confirmed.
✔️ Bobby thinks of Buck as his kid? Confirmed.
✔️ Literally everyone but Buck knows that Bobby thinks of Buck as his kid? Confirmed.
✔️ Something Big Happens and Buck realizes he matters to himself and Bobby and his father-son relationship with Bobby is wholesome af thereafter? Confirmed.
✔️ Chim is willing to drink the crazy juice - in fact, he simply cannot help himself - and go along with a Trippy Adventure no matter how farfetched or unbelievable? Confirmed.
✔️ Hen is skeptical but on board with Chim's shenanigans at all times? Confirmed.
✔️ Chris will find a way to be at Buck's bedside at the hospital no matter what, and Eddie will cave? Confirmed.
✔️ Eddie will be composed on the outside but just. Start. Crying. When the pain of losing Buck and what that means to his little family finds a way to break through? Confirmed.
✔️ Buck will wake in a hospital surrounded by his firefam (that scene we DID NOT GET after the truck bombing)? Confirmed.
I felt very fed tonight. Did I notice that there wasn't that much Eddie? Sure, of course I did. But the Eddie scenes I did get were most excellent. Not only did we get Eddie trying to keep Buck alive as they passed through the hospital doors, we got "Do more" and we got lip quivering trying not to cry, but then we got very real tears. Therapized Eddie cried at his best friend's bed side watching his kid tell Buck to wake up. Fantastic.
I think it is actually very telling that Eddie didn't physically show up in Buck's coma dream. Since everyone was just a manifestation of Buck's own thoughts, the Eddie of it all would have been far too telling for Buck and his thoughts on Eddie and how important what Eddie thinks is to him. They didn't even go there. I'm sure someone who actually does the deep meta thoughts has something brilliant to say about that, but really - I'm totally pleased with the whole episode!
My final thoughts:
Don't let the Buckley parents ruin your night the way they ruined Buck's childhood.
Just let them buy the couch.
It's going to burn to the ground anyway 😏
#yes I did crawl out of my hole to say this#this show really does have a hold on me and I absolutely love it#6B has been fire#911 fox#911 spoilers#buddie#911#911 6x11#evan buckley#eddie diaz#firefam

Arcane season 2 - Act 2 Review
through most of the act my feeling was that the pacing was off.
I just hate all the spacy, trippy stuff and it really ruins my enjoyment of the episodes.
Not really enjoying design for Warwick much, I want my fluffy furry Warwick. I also think the spooky horror stuff could be way spookier and more effective.
Ambessa isn't bad but she just isn't that interesting and effective. I think she just doesn't do enough interesting evil stuff compared to Silco.
However, enough meaningful emotional stuff happened in episode 6 to tide over a lot.
I don't buy that Warwick is dead. His whole point is that he has healing factor.
Caitlyn and Vi work really well together. After act 1 I was thinking about posting how the main thing that is missing for me between Vi and Caitlyn as a couple (at least compared to their League counterparts) is a sense of fun and raport. They got that back in episode 6.
Vi versus Ambessa was really fun.
I'm sorry Jayce and Viktor fans, I just like Jayce too little to be at all invested in this storyline. Good for Skye getting screentime I guess. Seriously, I would have gladly deleted that entire storyline fro the show. Just have Jayce, Viktor and Mel survive the explosion and then go off on a spa vaaction all season (sorry Mel fans). I would have gladly swapped all of that for Ekko and Heimer screentime.
Vikto and Singed got the most meaningful discussion on opposing philosophies.
It amuses me that they gave Caitlyn a dedicated training montage with Ambessa just to explain how Caitlyn could hold her own against Vi even though she's generally ranged.
I like Zaun going collectively "I am Spartacus" over Jinx.
I think Isha impersonating Jinx and doing an attack thing is kind of stupid. She is cute enough that she doesn't feel too excessively like a self insert and the way Jinx and Sevika react to her is gold. However, she still feels super contrived.
I'm kind of surprised by the relative friendliness of Singed vis a vis Vander and I was almost relieved when they went to him wanting to sacrifice Vander again in the Viktor camp. Ah, that's my unscupulous evil scientist, just the way I like him.
The Mylo and Claggor ereasure is really sad and I'm not even one of the people who particularly cares about them.
So... Vander and Silco flashbacks. One of the main things I wanted out of season 2. Am I satisfied.
1.) I'm glad that despite what is being said it didn't feel like a cheesy love triangle to me (my nightmare was that they would do Vander x Grayson).
2.) That said, my best case scenario, my biggest wish was actually for the fallout between Vander and Silco to actually be about politics and for us to get to actually let them voice their politics disagreements in an argument. (again more like the discussion between Singed and Viktor).
I like that it didn't violate my headcanons of them too much, however it didn't trigger my meaty thinky thoughts particularly about the political stuff either.
The thing that triggers my brain the most is actually their secret hideout, and it's about half !!!!!!!(/)§/$IHIUAHSIU!!!????"!! and half I'm not sure this makes sense.
How is that thing still preserved so pristinely? How come Silco never went there? I have to many questions!!!! And escaped Warwick went to that place and scratched on the door :( :( :( :(
I feel like I want to point out that Vander thought of Silco even before thinking of the girls (right after the monkey that was their undoing).
I wish we would have gotten to see the number on Silco's miner's badge just to see if his number is right after Vander's number to indicate that they joined at the same time if they are apart.
Can we get Ekko to do that particular time rewind that Jinx is talking about?

As much as I adore Lilo & Stitch: The Series and Kim Possible, I don't think my brain returns to any Saturday Cartoon Adventures more than:
Aladdin: The Series - Remember the one where the cat goddess is kidnapping children and turning them into monsters? Or the one where there's a prophecy that Aladdin will die? Or the one where Genie is being hunted by the last of a race of magic-vampires? Or the one where Aladdin is being possessed by the vanquished sorcerer Mozenrath's (what a name) spirit through his magic glove? Or the one where Aladdin literally crosses over with Hercules?
The Little Mermaid: The Series - I think about that episode where she gets sucked down into the trippy, surreal Wonderland trench and can't escape probably every week. Go to Disney Plus and find that episode, it's called "Charmed," it's worth it.
The Legend of Tarzan - Like every episode is burned in my brain forever. The Opar episodes where he'd rather die than choose anybody but Jane, even after he thinks she's dead. The one with the Mad Elephant where Tantor thinks he's contracted the same illness. The one with DINOSAURS. The one where the new radio tower makes every animal go insane and try to kill Tarzan and Jane. The one where a different ape challenges Tarzan for leadership and WINS. The one where Jane's friends come to the jungle to rescue her. The one where Tarzan gets locked in like a prison camp with Teddy Roosevelt?! The one with a magical healing albino gorilla?! The one with Kerchak's old rival Tublat coming to try and take over the gorilla family in a series of traps? ! The one with the giant snake?! The one where Tarzan gets bit by a spider and almost DIES?! The one where Clayton's sister comes and forces Tarzan to choose between saving himself from poison or saving all of his loved ones from several death traps in time?! The one where the African tribes from the Tarzan books help Tarzan find a cure for a deadly disease in special two-part episodes?! The one with a WWII spy coming and trying to steal Jane's affections while simultaneously looking for war information he left in a music box he sent to her?! WHY IS THIS NOT ON DISNEY+?!
Buzz Lightyear of Star Command - Skilled. Courageous. And ever-vigilant. Leaping into action, it's BUZZ LIGHTYEAR, of STAR! COMMAND! I'm tired of having to dig around the Internet to watch episodes like The Wirewolf where an old Space Ranger buddy gets turned into a machine-mauling cybernetic wolf monster by the light of a radioactive moon, or the one where an "energy vampire" named N0S4-A2 tries to eat Buzz's robot friend.
Come on. We got The Little Mermaid: The Series. That Tarzan & Jane movie isn't enough! WHERE ARE THE REST OF THEM, DISNEY

since I'm watching those episodes: how are your OCs affected by Flashpoint?
Is this is a safe space to admit I will not be doing Flashpoint in the Morgan AU (and its AU spinoffs) 😅 so Morgan and James are not affected, since it doesn't happen.
However...I haven't ruled out the idea of writing an AU spin-off that does feature Flashpoint, it's something I've been on-and-off considering. And in that case (do keep in mind that these are not finalized by any means, I'm just spitballing...and this does not address consequences, only their lives in the Flashpoint timeline specifically):
Morgan: raised as Jesse Morgan Wells, which means everyone calls her "Jesse", and as with s3 in canon, she's currently in her second year of college and...is either already or about to turn 18. Both her parents, Harrison and Tess, are alive and well, as is her godmother, Tina, whom she calls "Aunt Tina" and loves very much (thus the tragic trio is intact). She worked at Jitters for a bit and thus knows Iris, and Barry's tutoring her in Organic Chem. Barry and Iris, though, still aren't friends, because Morgan hasn't really had any reason to connect them - Barry and Iris in Flashpoint aren't friends, and our Barry ofc wouldn't mention Iris because he has no reason to think Morgan knows her. Though it probably accidentally slips out, and that is how the Westallen reunion can happen (much better than canon, if you ask me)
(and yes, this would be the new life RF!Morgan is given too. Very trippy for her Barry, who at this point would not like her (at mildest))
James: Probably very little tbh. He'd still meet Morgan, they'd still become fast friends and probably eventually date. Things regarding their relationship post-1x15 would unfold slightly differently (I can't give too many details, because spoilers), but they'd still end up being close, just like they do in the main timeline. Some people are just meant to be in your lives 💞
Hopefully that answers your question! I have quite a few gripes with Flashpoint in the show, and while I could fix them, I also have...other plans for the AU that allow me to just get rid of Flashpoint (and its consequences, which is really what I'm glad to be rid of) entirely. When I said I was overhauling the Savitar arc, I meant it 😅
(Jesse and Aminah, ofc, would not be affected regardless due to being from another Earth. Reyna in her own AU is, ofc, from the future, so Flashpoint doesn't affect her)
Taglist (send an ask or DM to be added or removed):
@arrthurpendragon @ocappreciationtag @raith-way @vexic929 @ironverseocs
@thechaoticfanartist @tempests-of-hope @negative-speedforce @starstruckpurpledragon @angst-is-love-angst-is-life
#ngl i'm a little nervous about the prospect#esp since this isn't even the only major change in the s3 arc#but i'm playing it by ear and we'll see how it goes!#def no flashpoint tho. i'm resolute about that#flashpoint can perhaps be its own AU spinoff one day#because i do like it in concept#but not in execution#oc: morgan wells#oc: james bennet evans#morgan wells au#the flash#one could argue that if morgan was on E2#she would not be affected#which is true! but this is more fun

I've only seen a few episodes of Tom Terrific but I think it's a really cool show! I love the style for the show, basically a more trippy UPA style. Also, Tom Terrific shares a voice actor with not only the other characters in the show, but also with Eustace from Courage The Cowardly Dog and I think that's a really fun bit of trivia.
TOM TERRIFIC IS VERY CHARMING!! i also have only seen a little bit, i namely checked it out when Gene Deitch passed away, but it gave me a very strong warm and fuzzy feeling. i'm a lot more interested in UPA and minimalist animation now than i was when i first sought it out, so i'd have to revisit! also WOW, I HAD NOOOO IDEA ABOUT THE VOICE ACTOR!! AWWWWW HAHA that's wonderful! talk about a complete difference in characters!!
love the drybrushing here, those INK LINES!! so good!

SONGS I ASSOCIATE WITH NICHOLAS. in depth because i am insane!
DARK SHADOWS THEME / NIGHT OF THE PENTAGRAM. these are pretty self explanatory! i figured to add some actual music from the series on here especially since Pentagram has played often in nicholas scenes.
STAY DOWN HERE WHERE YOU BELONG. this is 100% a self indulgent choice i will admit, tiny tim is one of my favorite singers especially when he sings with his deep voice, which he does on this track. truthfully, nicholas should've stayed down below where he belongs.
BURNING FOR YOU. i Always associated him with this song whenever itd play on the radio, another one ive seen people associate him with is Dont Fear The Reaper. i chose this one specifically for its lyrics. 'i'm living for giving the devil his due / i'm burning for you' really freaking good.
WHO IS SHE? i love how hypnotic and psychedlic this song sounds. i understand its a modern song but the vibe of it is So Trippy and the hypnotic instruments feel fitting, as if looking into nicholas psyche itself!! i wish i could find more songs like it that match his character. as for its role in his playlist, i interpret the song as nicholas meeting maggie for the first time.
SHE'D RATHER BE WITH ME. 60s song woohoo! the POV of this track is nicholas at joe, about maggie. it sounds SO arrogant and aligns quite well with his feelings on the matter. don't let his confidence fool you though, he knows deep down she'd rather be with joe. this is during the time he began to sabotage their relationship. BOOOO NICHOLAS
EARTH ANGEL (WILL YOU BE MINE?) silly sappy love song. nicks feelings toward maggie, for sure viewing her as an angel on earth. which, she is polar opposite of what he is. her kindness and love has bewitched him.
YOU'RE AS PRETTY AS A PICTURE. this track is an era of music i continually try to find more for nick. i LOVE this era music, it matches him well. if this song sounds a bit unnerving, its supposed to be. i want sweet old songs that feel unnatural or unnerving on a nicholas blair playlist, because of what he is. this is one is my favorite tracks for that reason. this song is meant to be nicholas feelings for maggie once again, "pretty as a picture" implies her fathers paintings, one of which she sold to him. see what i did there...
TONIGHT YOU BELONG TO ME. yet another track meant to be unnerving. this song is definitely signaling the black wedding.
GOODNIGHT SWEETHEART, GOODNIGHT. i'm sorry im such a sicko /LIGHTHEARTED another song with unsettling tones. this song is implying episode 632! after being sacrificed on the alter...
I CAN'T LET MAGGIE GO. incredible song reccomended by @widowshill , its Perfection! very 60s vibed and describes nicholas feelings quite well. i adore it! it's true, he genuinely struggles to let her go and face the facts of the situation. he needs to accept things as they are even if he genuinely loves her.
AFTER TONIGHT WE SAY GOODBYE. nicholas defeat, when he is destroyed on top of widowshill. directed toward maggie along with everyone else in Collinsport. most people will not really miss him LOL
MR SANDMAN (HALLOWEEN II VERS.) i love this version so much. its atmosphere, the crackling of the music player, the jarring quality. its SO GOOD and fitting!! it makes sense for nicholas to be mr sandman since he hypnotizes people too, lol.
MIDNIGHT, THE STARS & YOU. hm, this song wasn't geared at anyone in particular, just a general vibe that matches nicholas aesthetic! it could be interpreted as him & maggie as well i suppose.
THE MAGICIAN. the lyrics to this one REALLY get me, they describe nicholas's character well. it was the first song i ever associated with him & its pretty solid. " do you find it gets a little easier each time you make things disappear? / old fools the magician bends the rules / as the crowd watches his every move " JUST A SHAKING HAND WITHOUT A CONCRETE PLAN!! I'M A SHAKING HAND WITHOUT A PLAN!!! (screams on the floor)
WHEN HE DIED. modern song but eh! got the spooky vibe and i like the lyrics. its self-explanatory, nicholas's destructions. its unhinged!
GOODNIGHT DAD, I LOVE YOU. don't worry about it...completely self indulgent on my part.
WE'LL MEET AGAIN. implies that nicholas always comes back, eventually! you can't keep a scheming warlock down for long!
#— ✧˖* 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐋𝐎𝐂𝐊 / headcanon .#this playlist is still a WIP... im just waiting to discover more songs
