We kissed once now were in love forever.... They are all weirdos and this feels like a cult Director of Photography, I hate you. Costume? I can't forgive you for that flashback. High school science teacher, you were my favorite. His final review: This was a bad movie. There are better vampire movies, there's better romance movies and better young adult movies. All the genera are valed, this is just a bad example of all of those generas. I understand why its popular tho, and why young woman loved it. Especially when you take in at the time, it came out. Its the American mix of all about sex but completely clean and demonising sex and not having any sex in it. To me its the same way that 50 shades of gray wants to be about sexy bdsm while still saying bdsm is morally wrong. Nothing wrong with wanting a sexy vampire with wanting a romance, I like romance. Theres nothing wrong with media for young women. This is just bad.

here is my rant/review on the movie bros so spoilers below the cut

look. i didnt hate it. it was funny. but most the laugh out loud funny parts were in the trailer, and werent as funny in the context of the actual scenes somehow. there were still definitely really funny moments outside of that but idk i was expecting more. also billy eichners character bobby was funny and all but god i hate people like that (which was awkward cus i have my sister next me whispering about how much she relates LMAO).

but in terms of my more serious issues with it.

1. there was several graphic sex scenes and i guess 1 was kinda of good to keep, but the others were sooo unnecessary imo. like 1 was funny ig but 1 was just like ... ok.. anyways.. and listen. listen. i understand especially from the opening scene and the rest of the movie basically that part of the point is gay people should havent to make themselves more palatable for straight society but my GOD i have never seen a straight romcom that explicit and idk about u guys but it seemed to be marketed as a more or less family friendly movie. like a take ur parents to it bc we're trying to normalize gay people in mainstream romcoms, ya know?? no. NO. do not bring ur parents. and i guess i sound like an asshole about that because yea queers shouldnt be marketable to hets but idk man.. its just so not a good introduction to normalizing big screen lgbtq+ movies like this bc as a queer person i was uncomfortable and id imagine the straights even more so and YES I KNOW WE SHOULDNT CARE but we cant be like 'see gay romcoms are for everyone!' and shove unnecessary and uncomfortably explicit sex scenes that dont belong in any movie esp one thats marketed the way it was.

2. i was actually sort of confused because i thought one of the main themes in the story was that the mc bobby was like. overly 'woke' i guess and really critical of everything, mostly from an lgbtq perspective. then there was the love interest aaron who thought bobby was really overly cynical. there was multiple instances in the movie where bobby would kind of ruin the mood by complaining about how something is homophobic in some way or another, and aaron or another character would kinda be like ..... and . i really thought one the things we were supposed to be following was how aaron helps bobby balance his views more. but. that never happens. like, we get more explanation on why bobby feels he has to be critical about stuff but like he just continues to basically be a buzzkill about shit and aaron just has to accept it and idk. i feel like the rest of the direction was really weird if the point wasnt bobby becoming a little more leveled??

3. ok so. this was one of my bigger issues i guess. i need to give some plot background: bobby and aaron agreed to 'not date' but basically end up dating for a while. aarons family comes to the city for christmas and bobby is gonna meet them and aaron asks him to just sort of be a little chill with them bc theyre accepting and all but yk. theyre his parent and bobby is really intense about stuff. bobby doesnt really take kindly to that even tho he acts to aaron like he gets it, and basically like. brings the family on a tour for the city and talks about the craziest shit like "oh this is where the first sex something something idk happened" "this is where the dyke march happened" stuff like that and aaron gets pissed at him and is like dude can u please just tone it down and bobbys like "what u want me to be less myself with them?" and aaron is like "?! kind of rn yes." and bobbys like ok fine. and they go to dinner and bobby gets into an argument with the mom who is a 2nd grade teacher about teaching lgbt stuff to kids that young and everytime they agree to disagree he keeps going and then goes on a tangent about sex positivity being important to children and how when he was a kid and his parents took him to some show where there was naked men and he literally just kept talking about their penises and how many penises he saw and oh my god. after the night ended aaron was pissed at him and bobby got so mad and was saying how aaron is just like everyone in his life whos tried to make him hide who he is and stuff. aaron tells him hes leaving to meet w a guy whos into him. bobby finds them making out which yes was wrong of aaron but technically they were both making a big deal from the get go that they werent relationship people and stuff. the rest of that half of the movie for aaron is basically having to make it up to bobby and apologize for making him hide himself??? and the only time bobby apologizes is after aaron has to again and again and says he felt bobby was talking about all that stuff to his parents on purpose and bobby said "i was. im sorry for that." THAT WAS HIS APOLOGY??? Im sorry but like yes be urself and if aaron loves how intense u are somehow great but theres a fucking time and place. dont fucking cross ur parnters boundries bc u didnt communicate ur issues with them, especially when it isnt that hard of a boundry to not cross. i just really disliked the framing of it. sorry but yea if my partner was really inappropriate or excessive about complaints about straight people and was meeting my parents i WOULD ask them to be chill and id fucking hope they wouldnt jeaprodize my relationship with either them or my parents by being like 'well i wanna say whatever i wanna say to anyone i want so i dont care if my partner is uncomfortable with these topics in front of this audience.' like even aarons brother finds out and is like dude u gotta make it up to him. what????? that shit really bothered me as someone who has been in scenarios similar to that with my friends

So, I personally hc Randy as straight and monogamous, but for the sake of this I'll go with a hc I've seen for Randy before that I really like which is Pan!Randy (who is also poly)!

Stu x Reader x Randy

So first off, for this ever to happen, you'd have to be dating one of them first. There's no way they'd agree to be in a poly relationship with each other otherwise.

This is because their relationship is strained at best. Stu may be a bi disaster, but he never even would consider Randy otherwise.

And while Randy always thought Stu was cute, his personality left a looot to be desired in Randy's eyes. Not worth it lmao.

Stu would be up for it far earlier than Randy would, but it would still take time to get Stu on board.

You'd need to bring them together as friends first. Find a way to make them bond first. Invite them together for movie nights, go out with them whenever you can get Stu away from Billy. See what other like minded ways they could bond other than horror.

Eventually, over time, Stu will mellow out around Randy, teasing him a lot less cruelly and more affectionately. And Randy will slowly get off of Stu's case as he starts to genuinely feel friendship grow.

Then, after realizing they both have feelings for you and each other you'd have to gently let them know you're polyamorous and could make the three of you work.

Stu would take it much easier, even be into it, but Randy might be pissed at first. He'd have the typical hesitancy and reasoning most people have for not being in a poly relationship.

If he agrees the three of you are an absolute chaotic trio.

Stu hangs off of you like he always has, but he now does so to Randy as well. Randy is super annoyed with it at first, getting flustered and uncomfortable. You'd have to tell Stu to not smother Randy.

Randy's iconic colored socks and colored shoes combos grow on Stu. Stu's always had a pretty decent fashion sense, and he helps Randy find accessories that fit his style. He also encourages Randy to not wear such boring ass shirts. Eventually Randy develops a more suave look due to his own style and Stu's influence combined.

The banter. Is. Never. Ending. You better get used to petty arguments, because Randy and Stu will neeeeever stop. If Billy happens to be hanging with you guys too? Hooo boy, grab your ibuprofen.

Obviously, Randy is now no longer considered to be a part of their plan. Stu would go absolutely ballistic if Billy shot Randy the way he did in the original. Instead, Stu makes sure Randy drinks waaaay more than he did, so that he's passed completely out while Halloween played.

Sometimes, you and Stu would wait until late at night to visit Randy during his shifts at the video store. When he's all alone and ready to close, you two drag him to the back room ;)

Stu pressures Randy into letting him get new releases early and Randy let's him because he loves Stu but "fuck man I cant keep doing this >:("

Randy gets flustered at you and Stu's affection. He'd never been in a relationship before, so having two people show him love in such a way? Man gets beet red.

You or Stu are the more dominant person in the relationship. You usually in general relationship stuff, but Stu usually in bed. Randy is an absolute sub dont @ me.

Overall it's a lot more of a wholesome relationship than poly ghostface is. There's still that darker more animalistic part that comes from Stu's end, but because Randy is a normal, non-murdery guy, it's a lot more conventional in general.

I saw this discourse on your account a while ago about an anon asking what pro-ship is and I'd like to inform you that the person that replied and told you that it's just shipping pedophilic ships and such, is wrong. (Sorry, I just remembered about it.)

Pro-ship is anti-harassment against people and their fictional ships. All it is is Anti-Harrassment for people shipping what they ship. As well as not invalidating people's ships because they ship something that's problematic- in any and all ways, more than just pedophilia.

However, pro-ship is more than just validating and supporting problematic ships, it can also be just normal ships as well. Pro-ship is not but can include dark themes, taboo topics, etc.

Pro-ship is just generally not invalidating someone nor harassing someone for their ship that is fictional. Fictional is not reality.

Pro-ship are aware of the things that aren't okay with their ship if it was reality.

Pro-ship does not mean you support or condone such actions in real life.

A percentage of pro-ship people use their ships and content as a coping mechanism and suggested by therapist to vent out their traumas.

Although both sides shouldn't harrass anyone on either side, it's a common method from Antis to harrass, dox, suicide bait, send gore, death threats, etc to Pro's. Some of the Anti community does not agree nor support with such actions people in their community are doing and most, if not all, pro's refrain from such actions on matter the side you take because it goes against their own beliefs as Pro-ship. (However I'm not saying some dont do it, just pointing out that most of the community does not claim them and will heavily apologize for their behavior as they're disgusted as well)

okay so by your explanation pro-shipping is just very inclusive and judgement-free and that's why problematic ships get lumped in there, because it's the only place they tend to not get penalized, yeah? i get it. it's really hard to be a blanket statement kinda person, you know? i have specific values and morals that conflict with taboo ships (incest, pedophilia, racist/poc, gay/homophobe, straight man/lesbian, etc) so i could never label myself pro-ship, even if the ships are fictional. there's just some lines that i myself won't cross even if it's in fiction, so i wouldn't ever be 100% pro or anti ship. obviously i ship characters but there are exceptions and i have limits so i suppose i am neither.

harsh, confident and undeniably cool: everyone at Hawkins High knew not to fuck with you - you'd forged your own path in previous years and showed no signs of slowing down any time soon. there was just something about you that made people want to simply observe from the sidelines. known for dark makeup, brash music and taking no one's bullshit, you were somewhat of a divisive figure: people either really hated you and tried to make your life misery (to not much avail) or desperately wanted to befriend you.

somehow, along the way you'd made friends with the likes of Robin and by association, Steve, but you were happy with your small group of friends and didn't really care all that much for your hometown and what (or who) it had to offer.

therefore, when a fresh faced californian boy toy entered Hawkins High, you couldn't deny there was a certain allure to his cool demeanour and newness. unluckily for you, Billy found his place with the current popular kids sucking up to him and soon the rumours about you began to surface again. whenever you caught his eyes within the first few days of his arrival, his gaze would be quickly diverted by Tina or Carol as they glared at you or threw insults. that's why you decided it really wasn't worth getting involved with Billy Hargrove, even if he did have an amazing taste in music.

but God did you misunderstand the lengths to which this boy would go for your attention.

a red shirt clung to his biceps, tan skin visible due to the multiple buttons left undone and a silver chain dangling and catching in the light. strong and slightly overpowering yet undeniably attractive, his unique smell of cologne and liquor and maybe a little something else invaded your private space, making you way too nervous to deal with him this late in the day.

weeks of notes and smiles and blue eyes meeting yours way too often had weakened your resolve and if it didn't disgust you so much you would be able to admit Billy was slowly turning your heart to mush. you couldn't listen to mötley crüe without thinking of him and every time you picked out an outfit, you wondered if he'd think you were beautiful or if he'd like the band on your shirt. his compliments and soft gestures like driving you home and giving you his jacket when it was raining (even if it didn't fit your look) had grown on you massively. now you would even go as far to say you enjoyed his company.

shifting on your feet slightly, you realised how ridiculous the whole thing was and all you wanted was for billy to scoop you up in his arms and make the world better again. you wanted him to let you do his eyeliner and you wanted to feel his hands on your hips, his touch driving you wild. you wanted him to kiss you right now in the hallway and tell everyone else to screw off.

but life isn't a dream.

finally after an eternity your shift ends and youre almost surprised you dont get pulled over with how quickly you drive home, your mood dropping on the way as you remember all the times you couldnt defend yourself and had to let people scream in your face about how youre a terrible employee.

you walk in quietly and go straight to your room and just lay down facing the window, not doing much of anything. you vaguely hear someone call your name but dont respond as you know its obviously not Bubba, so it can wait. Drayton storms in, getting in your face and screaming about how you need to listen when he calls for you and you snap.

you stand up and scream back about how you dont need to listen to him, how he shouldnt abuse Bubba the way he does, and how he just generally needs to fuck off. Bubba watches from the doorway, having ran over from the shouting and just watches in shock, youre usually like him, getting pushed around by Drayton and rarely defending yourself.

Drayton pushes him out of the way to make a dramatic exit and Bubba comes up to you, babbling in a inquisitive manner. you just mutter something about telling him later and hug him like hes the last thing keeping you sane and letting out all of your emotions from the day in the form of tears.

Those two are brutal and honestly tactful geniuses tbh to be able to pull off a scheme like that (which is hilarious to me since they're both like 5'5 teenagers) it always bothers me whenever I see people shaft them (ESPECIALLY CHARLIE) in their rankings when the rankings include things like planning and kills. (Also here's another hot take from me I think Charlie did most of if not all the kills in that movie, and Jill was the one that did a majority of the planning.) About Carol/Rhodey having no build up... I mean I agree it didn’t, and yeah build up can be great! But when it comes to comics sometimes it just doesn’t happen because everything is so fast paced and writers want to write what they want and get their relationships and dynamics established quickly, especially these days when comic runs can get cancelled so quickly. I think you have to judge a comics relationship based more on their dynamic and how they are as a couple. I mean, if it’s two people who hate or dislike each other or have complicated or intertwined history, then yeah, some build up and explanation would definitely be appreciated! But if it’s two people who have just started dating, then what build up do you need more than “Hey I like you, wanna go on a date?” Or however it is people ask other people out, I don’t know. As long as they’re not skipping straight to “I love you! We’re meant to be together!” after like one date, I don’t need much build up (and even then sometimes that kind of thing can be fun to read or believable! It’s all in the writing, and there really are no set in stone rules in writing, no matter what anyone else says) I mean, we all love Billy and Teddy right? Yes we do. But we have absolutely no clue how they started their relationship. Sure, they were introduced together, so that probably helps, but still. I forgot where I was going with this exactly, but I stand by whatever my point was! I’m right

oh, this goes without saying, but i will anyway: SPOILERS FOR AMNESTY (IN GENERAL, BUT ALSO FOR EPISODE 36) 

i’m gonna start off by saying, i don’t think the whole episode was a total disaster. there are two things mainly that have ruined the whole experience for me, but for the most part i thought the like first 2 hours of this episode were a lot of fun! the fight scene was a little bogged down in the rolls imo, but it didn’t deter me too much from the overarching boss battle. the intro was a sick concept, i enjoyed the callback bits spliced in w newly scripted bits from mentioned past encounters, that was all well and good. i loved beacon in the episode, and god do i wish he stayed for the whole thing. 

my problem mainly sits with the epilogue, which is why i think the whole episode turns sour in my mind. because the epilogue is supposed to be what satiates your desire to know more, right? not to reference balance too much (bc these are two completely different stories w different premises, and for people to so readily compare them is kinda wack. that being said, they are two stories made by the same people that use an epilogue to wrap up the loose ends, so im gonna make this one comparison), but the epilogue told us, the listener, all the things we wanted to know about after the day of story of song. we got to know what they did, a little bit of their interpersonal relationships, and we even got a big group scene with the killarey wedding! 

this epilogue, though, feels like it left so much still on the table. one of those things i will swing back to later because it is the largest part of my argument, but after all of this time we still don’t know why everyone at the lodge got exiled! no one talks about it! we don’t know how dani ended up there, or jake, or barclay, or moira, or anyone! they don’t reference the banishments at all, which i think is a huge shortcoming figuring that is the core premise as to why these characters exist in our pc’s world in the first place. 

i also feel like the concept of the worlds being divided for a long time is kind of a dumb way to go about framing what they do After The Fact. like, they could have had those scenes happen without the looming concept of them being divided, especially when their big reunion scene is like 2 minutes long and basically does nothing. what would have been a cooler premise is if billy connected the worlds, and the worlds worked together in rebuilding themselves. we still could’ve had the same bits happen (for the most part), but i just think that whole separation bit kinda alienated the pc’s (especially thacker). 

but everything up to aubrey’s epilogue bit is fine. i have some problems, but it’s fine. where i started to completely abandon the work itself though is duck’s bit, and i’m gonna get into it by saying this: I know Justin Mcelroy is not legally required to make all of his characters gay, but this whole scene was just a big reminder to me that this show is done by 4 straight white men

and yeah, my big problem with this scene is the fact that justin had to make Duck/Minerva a thing. because it adds nothing to the story while also being a very skeevy concept in-general, and it reduces minerva’s character down to the Hero’s Girlfriend trope and it’s so comphet and she doesn’t deserve it. 

my first grievance with this: It adds nothing to the story. 

had justin not even mentioned the relationship part of their interaction before the scene actually took place, this scene would be like every other scene involving duck and minerva prior to this. duck says honey once, and even that could’ve been played off as duck just being affectionate to his friends (which is a thing, i call several of my friends “my love” irl and it isn’t a big deal). minerva doesn’t even use pet names, she calls duck by his full name, which is exactly how she addressed him in every other scene! duck’s speech is a genuine heart-puller, but it was completely soured by the fact that justin had to premise this entire scene by saying duck and minerva are a thing. 

my second grievance: it’s a skeevy-as-all-hell concept. 

this whole premise is nasty seven ways from sunday, and it is my biggest problem with duck’s bit as a whole. for starters, and i think more people need to mention this, minerva meets duck on the night of his 18th birthday. which means duck has literally just stopped being legally considered a minor before minerva appears before him. and honestly, i would still consider duck a minor in this case because he has literally just turned 18!!! his brain has not developed past one of a 17-year-old on the exact date of his birthday, and i argue it will not until he is at least in his twenties. keep in mind, your brain does not stop developing until you are about 25. so while in the legal sense, duck is an adult, in both the mental and emotional sense at that exact moment, duck is still a minor. AND he’s still in high school, as referenced in his response to her call to duty: “i got class tomorrow”. and minerva is old enough to have become the minister of defense for her homeworld, go through an entire war, and have several other chosen ones (including leo tarkesian, who is at least 20 years older than duck) before meeting duck. so that makes her much, much older than duck when she meets him. and i don’t care if they had barely any interaction after that first moment (though they did, as justin legit talks about when he introduces minerva as a concept to the show), that still establishes their initial interaction at a massive age difference. which, regardless of anything, makes their eventual relationship so genuinely messed up. 

sure, you can argue that when you get older age doesn’t make that much of a difference, and i would agree. my mother is 53 and her husband is 63, that’s ten years. but my mother and step mother did not meet at 8 and 18, they met at 50 and 60. the initial interaction makes all the difference between “older people meeting and having a relationship” and “a very messed up situation”. 

also, in this same argument, taking the mentor-student relationship and turning it into a romantic relationship IS SO MESSED UP!!!! GENUINELY AND HONESTLY MESSED UP!!! i feel like i don’t need to explain this because there have been so many examples already as to why this is a relationship you Should Not turn romantic, but i will anyway because it frustrates me so much that justin completely glosses over this!!! the power dynamic of a mentor-student relationship, in whatever way it is portrayed, displays a power balance that is heavily leaning to one side. there is not an equal distribution of power amongst the two because one person is teaching the other. the one person is weak to the others wills and whims because of lack of experience. think of your high school teacher or college professor; if you started a relationship with them, people would raise so many questions because you are not at equals to the teacher/professor. even if they treat you different, and even if they no longer teach you, it all has to do with the initial interaction. and minerva was still duck’s mentor up until either episode 34 or 35, when she handed off the title of Herald of the Astral Mind to duck. that means for nearly all of their interactions, there was a mentor-student dynamic. to have that turn into a romantic relationship is so sketchy and weird and leaves a bad taste in my mouth. 

my third grievance: it reduces minerva’s character down to a girlfriend trope, and it’s comphet as hell

“i was dming max about it and they also mentioned, quote, ‘her story was never about romance. it reduced her down to ‘competent woman becomes endgame girlfriend’ trope’ and they are so right it makes me fucking pissed. regardless of any ‘mutual respect’ and ‘emotional intimacy’ kind of thing going on that some people are arguing for, it’s something that didn’t need to happen because minerva’s character becomes that. my thing is mutual respect and emotional intimacy between two people can. exist. without it being. romantic. like. friendship is. also valid. i personally don’t think that mutual respect and emotional intimacy are two buttons that you press to make the machine churn out a romance” 

not only does it reduce minerva’s character to tropes, but it also is extremely comphet for a woman who is so heavily wlw-coded or lesbian-coded and it just angers me. you could argue that she could be bi, but if we look at canon for just its face-value, the only romantic interaction she ever has is with a man, which basically makes her straight. this isn’t like aubrey’s situation, where travis clearly states she is a bi woman who is just in a relationship with another woman in amnesty. griffin doesn’t state anything about minerva’s sexuality and then she’s paired off with a man right at the end. and you could argue that she isn’t wlw or lesbian-coded, but i am not the only one who is wlw and thinks this, so i feel like i have more of a ground to stand on in this opinion. and this just feels so, like, textbook compulsory heteronormativity it made me feel physically sick when i heard this bit in the podcast. 

so that’s my first big issue with the finale, fully explained. my second issue with the epilogue is that ned’s death continues to be disappointing and his character arc is never completed, which just tanks the whole show for me. 

i’ve talked about this several times since ep 28 about how ned’s death was stupid and did nothing for his character arc, but i’m gonna reiterate my main points for the people who find this post without knowing my whole blog:

1. ned’s main interpersonal conflicts are just brought to the surface and never fully delved into before his sudden death. ned doesn’t ever get to explain his history with boyd and why he had to steal shade tree to mama or barclay or really anyone besides vaguely to aubrey. 

2. every character is just immediately expected to feel sad about ned’s death, despite the tension that still remains right up until the very end. aubrey shouldn’t have even known that the shapeshifter framed ned because that’s all explained once she goes to sylvain, but i think travis just assumed she did because he heard the interaction between ned, mama, and barclay. so she should’ve had Way more conflicting feelings about the whole thing, but ned’s death is just angst-bait so that doesn’t happen.

3. ned’s death doesn’t make roll sense because clint rolled a mixed success and mixed successes, by definition, are supposed to be less severe moves than a failed roll (which gives the gm the ability to make a hard move). there isn’t really anything harder to do to a character than kill them, but even if you wanted to argue that if clint failed the roll the hard move would’ve been ned failing and letting dani get shot, it still doesn’t change the fact that clint rolled a mixed success when slamming into the pizza hut sign at full velocity and came out of that alive (severely injured, naturally, but still alive). 

so, yeah, there’s that. and then theres the fact that griffin doesn’t ever give us any other scenes involving ned directly. ned only becomes a reference from 28 on, which is so disappointing given ned’s importance to the other two pcs. and i understand that the mcelroys have a lot of trauma related to death, but griffin shouldn’t have killed ned off then if he did not want to talk about death in graphic detail. we all have trauma. we all want to avoid topics. but to kill ned off and then never talk about his death in great relation to the others is a genuine disservice to ned’s character. 

the day episode 28 aired was the same day i buried my grandmother. i would have loved if death wasn’t brought up, but i don’t control the podcast. the mcelroys do; they had the ability to avoid this topic in a more servicing way to the characters and they didn’t. that isn’t to say they are bad people for not doing it, but it makes the finale even more disappointing because it means we never get the full rounding out of ned’s character arc. he becomes this like brief reference that is, once again, angst-bait or emotional fuel and i feel like he didn’t deserve that. he deserved a genuine reference, a genuine moment. even a dream sequence i would have appreciated!!! 

griffin had sylvain directly point at ned in aubrey’s flashback in ep 35, and then did nothing about what that could have implicated in the finale. it sours the entire episode in a major way and disappointed me immensely. there should have been more done with that topic and there wasn’t and i will never forget how deeply it hurt me and turned me away from canon as a whole. not to be ned kin on main, but ned was the backbone of this show and the exact moment he left was the exact moment the whole thing went downhill. it turned less into a story about growth and adversary and amnesty and more into a waiting game for when this very loose end was going to get wrapped up. 

i wanted to enjoy this episode. i tried so hard, y’all. but just the thought of ned loomed over me the entire time and i was waiting for a more proper completion to his arc, and it never happened. and coupled with that very bad and skeevy duck/minerva bit i was just so frustrated and hurt last night. 

so, yeah, that’s my whole spiel. you are free to disagree with me, but keep that opinion to yourself because i’m not getting into it with anyone. i will just block you; it’s better for us both, anyway.

@worrywonderwander made this post about me because i said wish you were gay wasnt homophobic. im not sure why she blocked me when our conversation was fairly civil. shes downplaying my opinion and credibility by talking about my age when i am an honest to god adult. now to the content of the post:

the only thing i can concede to wywg being guilty of is queerbaiting. the offensiveness of the song is still unseen by me and a majority of lgbt people regardless of your personal issues with it. with that being said, intention is a huge factor. she had no malicious intent and furthermore went on to apologize if anyone thought she did. even if the song was distasteful, which it wasnt, it cant be homophobic or prejudiced if the intentions were pure

if i stan her so hard that im going to defend a straight teenage girl? im not sure what her age or sexuality have to do with my defending her. i understand the power dynamic between cisgender and heterosexual people versus the lgbt community is unbalanced, but creating a divide the way that you do is unhealthy. if i support someone i dont care who they’re attracted to or how old they are. i also am defending her song more than her herself. i believe that it doesnt deserves the slander it gets and i stand up for what i believe.

again im not following her blindly, its not even about her, but more about the principle of the song being labelled as something its not. similarly, ive found that often people will brand something as homophobic, transphobic, etc when it objectively isnt just because its not up to your standards of inclusivity (not you specifically, people in general).

yes i agree and i said earlier that artists are not responsible for how people interpret their art, but the fact is that a majority of people found the song overall unproblematic. becuase art is subjective someone can take something harmless and make it into a huge deal or even do the opposite and downplay an objectively offensive piece of media. its all open to interpretation so im not sure what you were trying to say there.

in regards to billie profitting off of assumptions about a song topic, you can say that about any subject. khalid has a song called “talk” you wouldnt say that he’s unfairly profitting because some people may assume he’s singing not talking. i understand that people are a little more sensitive when it involves the lgbt community which is understandable but not 100% fair in my opinion. its 2019 and a majority of people are accepting of the lgbt community. we aren’t victims anymore.

i think the issue is that some people are taking the song too seriously. shes not wishing upon a star that the subject of the song wakes up gay one day, but rather that he doesnt like her and since the alternative would be that there is something wrong with HER, she would rather he not be attracted to girls. if i sang that song about a guy i would call it “wish you were straight” because that would mean that it wasnt my flaws he wasn’t attracted to, it was my gender. also, she isnt wishing the gay experience on him, so to speak.

you mentioned that her stance is selfish and thats precisely the point. in the song itself she calls herself selfish. again i will fight for something i believe in. if i thought she was genuinely immature and selfish i would admit it. i strongly find it important to understand the gray areas since Nothing is black and white.

just as you are able to criticize billie i am just as able to explain my differing opinions. she is by no means perfect but this is not the reasons for her imperfections.

the next part is about me so let me simply explain why i compared the community aliens. you said that straight people should not even reference gay people which is ridiculous and creates sn unecessary divide between gay and straight people. i am fully aware of the history of lgbt people between stonewall, the aids epidemic and even trans people dating back centuries. i understand your caution when it comes to people referencing the community, but so much has changed in the past 50 years, hell the past 5 years. its unfair and unrealistic to police their language in regards to us. with the exception of slurs of course, there is no need to dictate the vocabulary when straight people reference the community. the world is a lot more progressive than it used to be.

WWE Elimination Chamber 2019 - Preview & Predictions

Kofi Kingston vs Jeff Hardy vs The New Daniel Bryan (c) vs AJ Styles vs Randy Orton vs Samoa Joe: Elimination Chamber Match For The WWE Championship

First things first I really am not a fan of the champion being in the match this close to Wrestlemania, for me this should be a match to determine his Mania opponent with him watching on. In reality when Seth Rollins won the Rumble Bryan should have been begging Seth to choose him to save him from going in the Chamber, but that makes too much sense soooo....

When looking at potential winners I think we can rule out Jeff straight away, hasn't really been doing anything important lately and isnt on a run of quality matches, would be an extreme wildcard if picked. The second person to rule out is Orton, very similar to Jeff in that he’s doing a whole lot of nothing recently, and he’s VERY happy to be doing little. I think it would be obvious to anyone that he’s at that stage of his career where he’s sailing along counting the cash, knowing they dont seem willing to trust him with a title and at the same time he doesn't want that responsibility too.

Next up is Kofi, now Kofi SHOULD be at the front of the list of guys to rule out initially but that freshness is there with Kofi having not been around the title picture, and his performance this past week on Smackdown showed everyone how right it was to put him in that position. Do I think he wins and goes on a long title reign? Nope. Do I think there’s a slim chance he wins and goes on a celebratory streak that leads to him dropping the title back to Bryan at Mania? Very possibly.

Samoa Joe, my favourite guy in the match and the one I think deserves a good, solid run with the belt turning away challengers in great PPV matches every month to take me back to his Ring Of Honor title run so that we can again hear crowds chanting ‘the champ is here!!’ One of the big problems for me is that the title feud after Mania isnt very clear as the line of solid faces isnt that strong, if Joe wins the belt he needs to destroy afew of them which greatly limits their options......but then again there is another superstar shakeup coming soon......

Next up is AJ Styles, now for me I dont have AJ get the belt for awhile after the LOOOONNNNGGGG reign he had recently, nothing to do with him or his talent but he needs time away from it and they need to develop a big juicy feud for him to sink his teeth into to keep him occupied away from the belt.

And finally there’s Daniel Bryan the reigning champion, I really cant look past him to retain and if he doesn't it will be pretty harsh on him, plus they dropped some decent cash on that new title. I see him just retaining tonight, be that with the help of Rowan or a returning Luke Harper im not sure but he will/should leave with Daisy. Then we get another multi man match on Smackdown to determine his Mania opponent, hopefully they go a different route as this time of year has way too many multi man matches just to get guys on the card, a tournament maybe that spans over the next month would be a wise move - BRYAN

Sasha Banks/Bayley vs Sonya Deville/Mandy Rose vs Naomi/Carmella vs Nia Jax/Tamina vs Liv Morgan/Sarah Logan vs Peyton Royce/Billie Kay: Elimination Chamber Match To Determine The First WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions

This could be rough, and long, fingers crossed the good workers are in alot and work with each other.

In terms of winners here we really should only be looking between the Boss and Hug Connection and Jax/Tamina, the first team have been built the longest with the deepest history and journey to get here. The second team are the biggest and management think Jax is a heat machine so would love to see the crowds react to her beating their favourites to the belts, just a shame she has to team with the female Big Vis.

I could see an outside chance of the others winning apart from Carmella and Naomi who seem embarrassed to have been paired together with so many other women being injured or in roles so couldn't contend here. That’s not to say I think they will as this is pretty sown up between the original pair.

For me it comes down to it the company want to team Trish Stratus up with Lita at Mania to go against Banks/Bayley, as Lita seems to be up and down in her past few appearances and its a big ask to be ready in a big way for their biggest show of the year. If not, then I see the heels winning leading to Banks/Bayley finally getting the belts infront of more eyes at Wrestlemania - JAX/TAMINA

Ronda Rousey (c) vs Ruby Rose: WWE Raw Women’s Title Match

Sadly this match isnt getting the focus I think it deserves due to them hyping Ronda’s Mania match more with its build, I really rate Ruby and think she should be a big threat to the title down the road but not right now.

The problem here with that is that this bout shouldn't go long, people know there wont be a title change so why drag it out, but at the same time it could hurt Ruby if Ronda destroys her in 3 minutes.......and I very much bet on that happening and the angle with Charlotte lasting longer than the actual bout - ROUSEY

The Miz & Shane McMahon (c) vs The Usos: WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championship Match

Im really not a fan of the Miz/Shane team and with the recent incident with Jimmy it looks like a title change is lower than expected, I still have hopes it occurs though.

This feels like a match that has to be here but really is building to a multi team bout at Mania again sadly - MIZ/MCMAHON

Lio Rush & Bobby Lashley (c) vs Finn Balor: WWE Intercontinental Championship Match 2 On 1

Usually I would go with the heels to sneak the win even with the man advantage, but here im thinking Finn pulls out the win by pinning Rush and takes the title. This leads to Bobby moaning about not taking the fall and Balor agree’s to fight him one on one at Mania, but, that probably changes as there’s Fastlane between now and then so this will probably be very different by then - BALOR

Braun Strowman vs The Baron: No DQ Match

Jesus Christ stop with these shitty matches!!! I dont want anymore between these two as The Baron drags him down!! - STROWMAN 

Buddy Murphy (c) vs Akira Tozawa: WWE Cruiserweight Championship Match - Kickoff Show

This should be awesome, gutted its on the kick off show and not the main card, just drop Strowman/The Baron or the Smackdown tag match and replace them with this give them 13-15 minutes and enjoy - MURPHY 

This really is a strange card, for me the kick off match is going to be the best thing on the show, with others bringing more of a storyline driven match rather than great wrestling.

This PPV as well as Fastlane are going to be exactly the same in being builders to Wrestlemania so dont fully expect for the feuds to finish and end cleanly, if anything alot could annoy people with shitty finishes after sitting through 10 + minutes of a bout.

The big news coming out of this show will be dominated by the angle between Rousey and Charlotte after her match, so hopefully they have something different lined up than whats been done previously with Becky Lynch.

Hi! I watched Anne with an E thanks to you and I LOVED it. Thought race and wlw concepts were handled SO well. But, something that made super uncomfortable was the handling of mlm chars...Coding the first mlm char as a "sissy" and feminine man whose friends are only girls...just felt a little shallow to me. And having Mr. Phillips be homophobic to Cole because he's gay and also hinting that's why he's so cruel to the children just also felt stereotypical, shallow and wrong. Obviously the (1/2)

spirit of the show is so so so good and I thought literally everything else was executed so smartly and so well, which is why the mlm characterization feeling off to me seems extra weird. also idk no one else is talking about it and i dont know anyone who watches it LOL so i thought i'd run this by you and see if my feelings make any sense (2/2)

First of all, YAY FOR WATCHING ANNE WITH AN E!!!!! I was just talking to @lena221b and she also watched it and THAT MAKES TWO!! HUZZAH! Ahem, Anyway, to your points:

I definitely agree with you about the Mr. Phillips’ characterization. As it was unfolding, I was just shaking my head and bemoaning the old “im the bully because im gay” trope so I agree that was annoying. And I said so to my roommates and agree it was a low-point of the show. It’s old and worn out and I wish they had not done it. I was not as annoyed by Cole’s characterization just because Cole is a delight. I see what you’re saying with that but... the show revolved around Anne so in order to allow a character to develop as fully as Cole did (aka screen time), they do need to have him be friends with Anne. So, for me, that character point is okay because logistically, it gets him in the show. (I guess the other option was have him be friends with Gilbert? But Gilbert was off exploring so that would have not been easy). Also, I didn’t see him as really a “sissy”. I mean, he ends up fighting Billy Andrews more than anyone else in town does (seriously why does that asshole get away with so much???). I don’t think drawing, being shy, and being friends with girls (aka the main characters of the show) is hitting too many stereotypes, especially when Cole was shown as just as rebellious (if not more so with where he ends up) as Anne. Though, I do get where you are coming from, I just... eh, sometimes you gotta give people the benefit of the doubt. 

I think that’s the core of my answer: Yeah, I was definitely annoyed by Mr Phillips, and if you look at Cole, you can probably fit him into some stereotypes, but sometimes you gotta just give people the benefit of the doubt. The show isn’t perfect, but it doesn’t have to be for me to really enjoy it and appreciate what they are doing. So often people use “history” or even “well this was the source material” to excuse complete straight, white casts and Anne with an E is purposefully changing the source material to make sure more people are included. That’s a big deal! Everyone go watch it! And hopefully, they develop Cole or other mlm better in future seasons!

All right, camper. … Imma be honest, and it may shock may some of you. … I was never in Steve Harrington’s lane until like s.3, which I only just watched recently. I was in Johnathan’s first and then Billy’s and kindaaaaaa Steve’s and then BAM Eddie hit me like a fucking truck. But I digress.

The reason I love Steve so much is how much we seen him grow. He has one of the most well developed characters arcs I’ve seen, even when I was studying media writing. I cannot wait to rewatch all the seasons, and esp take note of the differences of his character. Mayhaps during fall for spooky season.

And DEAR GOD what have I done? A couple of campers have also express their *cough * disdain for Eddie in this and how they would like to *checks the clipboard report* ah, yes. Give him a “love tap” or “beat his ass”. … I have had thoughts about this route of pay back, but irl I’m more of a sneaky payback person. So the idea to just being unconditionally happy and free…buying weed straight Rick instead maybe (cut the lil middle man out, and be a fav customer of Rick’s for the perks???)…hehehhe me likey.

It was the talk of the entire school for almost a week when Billy Hargrove moved to Hawkins. The man looked like he was straight out of a magazine. And he’s from the beloved state of California. Everything about him made every woman swoon. His hair, his walk and oh my god his jeans.

I was walking down the hallway with my friend, Jessica when I first saw him. My eyes scanned over inch of him but I knew he’d never go for a girl like me, even if it was a night and we were both heavily intoxicated.

“What do you think of the new kid?” Jessica asked, practically breaking her neck to turn around and take another look at him.

“He’s alright.” I simply stated as I walked over to my locker beginning to open it.

“Come on, ‘alright’ he’s better than alright. He’s stunning.” She was almost drooling at this point.

As I pushed my books in my locker and grabbed a different binder for my next class, somebody came sliding up to the locker next to me.

I turned my head slightly and I was shocked to see Billy leaning up against the lockers raising his eyebrows at me.

“So, chemistry is kicking my ass and it’s only the first week and I heard you’re pretty smart so would you be willing to help me?” He asked, barely making eye contact, mostly looking at his hands as if he didn’t care.

“Sure, when are you free?” I asked, doing my best to keep calm.

“Today, after school. Does that work for you?” He stated more than asking and I nodded. Before I could form a sentence he was already walking off.

“How the hell did you manage to get a study date with Billy Hargrove?” Jessica asked awe stuck.

“It isn’t a date.” I smiled, finally closing my locker.

“Okay, sure, have fun study ‘chemistry’” She grinned and I rolled my eyes heading to my next class.

Once the final bell rang, I headed out the door to where Billy was, leaning up against his car, cigarette between his lips.

“You cool with working at my place?” He asked and I nodded, saying a simple yes before we both got into his car. As we drove away, far surpassing the speed limit I couldn’t help but feel my heart rate increase each inch we got closer to his house.

He opened the front door of his house for me, leading me to his room and closing the door behind him.

“So what do you want to work on first?” I asked as I set my bag down, going through to get my chemistry notes.

“I can think of a couple things.” Billy said seductively, I looked back to see him eyeing me up and down with a glisten in his eye.

“H-Here we can look over the notes that we took before you came here.” I stuttered out, laying down a packet of notes.

Billy brought over a chair as we sat down and I went over what the diagrams showed and how they correlated with the current topic we were learning in class right now.

“Are you starting to understand?” I asked and looked over at him.

“Uh, yeah.” He nodded smiling.

“Okay well I have some other worksheets I could let you look at to make sure you fully understand.” As I reached for a piece of paper in my binder I could feel Billy’s hand running up my thigh.

“I think I know this stuff pretty well, but I’d rather get to know you a little better.” He whispered in my ear, sending shivers down my spine.

I grabbed his hand, throwing it off me before handing him the paper.

“Try finishing that to make sure you got it.” I said sterny leaning back in the chair as he rolled his eyes, grabbing a pencil and quickly writing in answers.

“Here.” He said almost violently as he whipped the paper in my direction. I grabbed the paper, scanning over the answers.

“Half of this is wrong.” I stated.

“Yeah, it’s probably because I wasn’t really paying attention.” He shrugged and leaned back, kicking his feet up on the desk.

“Well, if you aren’t going to pay attention, I’m not going to waste my time.” I said rather annoyed and he sat up hastily.

“I just can’t wrap my head around the concept.” He said, slowly leaning in.

“Well then listen.” I offered. I could feel the room heat up as he leaned in until he pressed his lips to mine which resulted with me putting my hand on his chest, pushing him off.

“And the first step would be to stop trying to get with me.”

“Come on, you know you want to.” He grinned wildly.

He wasn’t wrong, I could feel my heat pooling where I needed him most.

“We need to study.”
