My guilty pleasure is reading reviews complaining about Gideon The Ninth

One of my favorite complaints is the mixing up of characters, to many characters, and to many names/titles for characters. Which is fair enough relatable, but I just find it funny how once you know the last names for characters, I would say it's pretty obvious which house a character belongs to. The last names are not subtle (and I absolutely love deconstructing words with prefixes and suffixes, so maybe I'm the weirdo). I'll just have them here, but I'm pretty sure this is obvious (maybe not at first, though)

Nona- nine (Nonagesimus)

Octo- eight (Octakiseron)

Sept- seven (Septimus)

Sext- six (Sextus)

Pent-five

Tetra- four (tettares, close enough)

Tri- three (Tridentarius, also a sea snail)

Duetero- second (Dueteros)

Also, the complaints about characters' names being all over the place and random is genuinely funny to me because as far as fantasy novels go, the names in the series are quite tame (personally to me). If anything, they're from/ made up with Greek and Latin words for the last names, and the back of the novel has a neat pronunciation guide so I don't know what to say if the hypothetical bad review reader is struggling with that (except I understand and have been there for certain books in confusing up characters. Like Blister and Burn in WoF for which is which).

But also the bad reviews for people missing the lesbian context and getting upset about lack of world building I feel bad for because they're missing out on some amazing cow facts later on

Ants - Ants, due to their strength in numbers, are seen as very good friends and an example as to why working in teams in a good thing. A single ant can hardly move anything, but an entire team of ants can move huge pieces of food! The Ant- prefix is supposed to inspire the thought of a cat who is a team player, someone who works well with others. The ancient cat Antcloud of Riverclan, Cloudberry's brother, was known as a friendly cat to all. Antpelt's mother named him Antkit in hopes he'd make lots of friends...

Ladybugs - These little critters are actually associated heavily with motherhood! It is said that if a pregnant Queen sees a ladybug with many spots, the queen will have many kittens! If the ladybug does not have many spots, they will not have many kittens. Superstitious cats believe in it, like Brightheart, where cats who don't, like Cloudtail, tend to just think they're pretty. Ladybug is a very, very rare prefix, seen in ancient times with an underaged Shadowclan apprentice, Ladybugpaw. He is demoted back to Ladybugkit, and his future name was Ladybugfur.

Praying Mantis - These tough bugs (seriously I'm pretty sure fear is a foreign concept to these things) are seen pretty differently by each Clan. To Shadowclan, they are a snack, albeit a more bizarre one, often paired with roasted poultry and spicy Juniper berries. To Riverclan, they're a sign that the meadow in their Lake territory is healthy! Before that, they were mysterious, seen more like spirits than anything, and a sign that Starclan was watching the land by bringing its grass blades to life. To Windclan, they are valued for their resilience, and their willingness to battle despite size... It's relatable to them! If Windclan had movies, they'd be the underdog hero.

Grasshoppers - Snacks! Food! Yummy! Favorite food of Featherpelt, who loves frying some up and dipping them in blood gravy. Oh yeah... We use cooking too, but MUCH more recent in Clan history! Riverclan turns up their noses though, they refuse to eat them, but Shadowclan cats will slather them in vinegar. Grasshopper in general are associated with an old story, one that only Skyclan knows now from their old days. Their very first leader learned how to jump from a large Grasshopper, but when it tried to take her place as leader of Skyclan, she jumped high and swatted it off the high branch, breaking it into lots of little Grasshopper babies. Grasshoppers now have no idea what happened, but catching them is still a point of pride!

Snails (I know they're not bugs but you try telling cats that) - Snails! Their shells are collectible, and sometimes a very hot commodity in Shadowclan and Skyclan! There are stories of giant snails that cats can ride the shells of, and paint with pigments, meaning little painted shells are worth even MORE. The name Snail is meant to inspire peace and thoughtfulness.

Clams/Muscles - Riverclan food! Lots of Riverclan Cats learn to dive down into the river and part of the ocean when they take trips down there, all with the hopes to grab some yummy creature (and hopefully find a pearl!). Cats guard the ones they catch, and they're heavily prized for the possibility that they may hold a pearl. There are Legends about hunting parties that managed to save Riverclan from starting to death by diving down into the depths of the river to grab lots of them. Part of Riverclan mythology is the legend of a gigantic clam that resides in the river that an ancient Leopardclan warrior stashed a giant rainbow coloured pearl inside of to guard...

Crabs (also yes I know) - Beach bugs! A very lovely treat that cats will go to Sundrown Place to get along with salt! Just make sure to bring a basket, so you don't get pinched! Berrynose finds this one out the hard way. They're a delightful food and they're shells and pincers are often kept and traded! Riverclan has now become the lovers of all seafood, and will trade you whatever you like in return for a big crab.

Flies - Flighty around others, but brave enough to withstand sickness, often mate with those huge roaring dragons in the sky! Helpful as well, they point out sick prey or rotting meat. Cherryfall named Flykit the way she did because she feels that they're incredibly important, and wanted her tiny daughter to feel special. Flystar of Skyclan was Honor Titled the name Fly- for their ability to pick our bad prey, saving the Clan from a major outbreak during a very dark time when every other Clan was experiencing a Plague.

Dragonflies - Seen as the gorgeous offspring between flies and Dragons (airplanes) due to their shape, they're associated with grace, beauty, still water, and growing plants. There are however, stories of Dragonflies managing to become massive beasts, joining their dragon parent in the sky... Dragonfly from the Kin gets a huge reputation boost for being cool because of it.

Beetles - Icewing's favorite creature, if you let her, she'll talk your ear off about how pretty they are, their lovely smooth shells, how much she loves the ones with horns... All that. They are seen as very beautiful by the Clans, and I'm pretty sure some apprentices keep beetles in little hideouts to watch them... Or make the horned ones fight because kids will be kids. Icewing and Mintwhisker were big fans of beetle fights, and named Beetlewhisker after the beetles they bonded over as apprentices.

Worms - Lot of different opinions! Though, Thunderclan has a very very sore spot concerning worms. You'll have to forgive them, they're not the type to let things go. Since the move to the lake, things have gotten better, but stories about The Great Hunger are still cause for many cats to very much dislike worms. They'll happily trade them off to Riverclan. Bait in exchange for duck feathers and the occasional egg.

Speaking of, Riverclan LOVE worms. Not to eat, no, but for bait! Not many fish can resist a wiggly worm!

To Windclan, they're kinda seen as annoying. I'm borrowing Tunnelbuns from Bonefall, and a worm getting into your tunnelbun is the WORST.

For Shadowclan, many apprentices try and catch them to put them in frog-filled areas to fatten up frogs for an easier future catch. Doesn't always work, but it keeps them entertained and it's fun to watch!

Crickets - The snack you dare your friends to try. Cool! Weird! A bug that SINGS! Myths linger about a cricket that managed to learn to speak, and gave a sign from Starclan to an old Lionclan cat to save his leader. Cricket songs are enjoyed heavily, and Crickets going quiet is cause for deep concern. It happens right before the Great Battle. The silence is still a... Tough to talk about moment.

Spiders - Skyclan and The Forest Four have very different views!

To the Forest Four, Spiders have a bit of a tough rep. They're eeire, but the cobwebs they make are so, so useful. Plenty of cats have a fear of spiders, such as Cloudtail, Owlwhisker, and Mossyfoot. They're seen as very pragmatic, and Spiderleg was named for his very spider-y body, but also his will to live, and his strength, especially when he was a tiny kitten, and needed his extra leg amputated due to the pain it was causing.

To Skyclan: A tragic symbol of the final leader of old Skyclan. Spiderstar made the final call, like a dying mother spider, to cast off remaining cats of Skyclan out into the Twolegplace. They are seen as beautiful, intelligent, and protective. Spiderstar is often called upon for a blessing when a cat goes on a quest, in hopes they will still come home afterwards. Pebbleshine frequently prays to her, as does Violetshine. They both love spiders as a result.

Ticks - Bad! Awful! Makes cats sick! Hurts and itches! These things caused a terrible Plague during the Homebrew story Wishstar's Abyss, and she used the cover of the sickness to poison the current leader. They need to be dealt with ASAP. Removed with prey bones or carved sticks, mouse bile is a Shadowclan exclusive seasoning once cooking is discovered.

Bees - Seen as less of a threat than their Wasp counterparts, but still creatures to be a bit weary about! They do not take kindly to stealing. The Legend of The Bee is very similar to the old myth in our world about them! A large bee presented Starclan with sweet honey, and Starclan was thankful. When Starclan asked the bee how she managed to make enough to share with everyone, the bee laughed and stated she would attack anyone who tried, that Starclan cats were lucky to have gotten a taste. Starclan cursed the bee, while she was given an incredible weapon to defend herself, it would kill her if used. Since you're able to harvest from bees without getting stung (so long as you remain calm) the Bee name is often associated with quieter, more strategic cats.

Bumblebees - These are seen as SIMILAR to bees, but not quite! They do still sting, but how could something so differently shaped and so very fuzzy be the actual same thing? They're also called Bumbles, making Bumble a suitable prefix (not that it wasn't already from Bumblestripe!) Shadowclan celebrates a Bumblebee Festival, where many Pollen rich flowers are gathered and placed in the middle of camp to attract bumbles near the end of Greenleaf!

Wasps/Hornets - These are actually seen as the same thing! Just different ranking. Since it's known that bees swarm, the Clan cats see these as higher ranked bees. Think apprentices vs warriors. Same THING, different rank. Waspwhisker's name is an indication of his strength in battle (and in being a good tracker, hence the suffix).

shit it's clanmew day already?? after last clanmew day i translated a buncha my OCs names, here are the ones i'm proud of (and one that makes me want to rip my hair out). also these are for fan clans who i decided give honor titles very liberally so like no one has the prefix they were born with LOL. also also all the translations are based on the notes i jotted down while translating and that was nearly a month ago so if some are bad.. y'know how it is.

hawkstar - yi'ishai or eeaoshai. "hawk" originally came from his honor title that he got for viciousness and cunning in battle, so within his clan he's called yi'ishai or sparrowhawk-star, but outside the clan he's known for his bloody battle tactic of attacking nurseries - thus red kite-star, since red kites are known for stealing kits.

mothwatcher - ffipkeslaou. i know there's a clanmew name for watch(er) but i went with divination cause it sounded cooler. her name was given because she deciphered an omen involving moths (haven't fleshed out what the omen was bc i suck at my job). also used the word for plume moth specifically because she's kind of weird lookin.

aspenfall - kossakanoch. least direct translation as "tree-broken in half" since her name was given when she retired due to an injury from a falling tree.

tawnyberry - pyowaworrpraw. used the word for poisonous berries for her, she changed which word for berry was used in her name as a symbol of her grief and desire for revenge after her apprentice was killed.

brokenfall - fewlkiseplur. "fall-interrupted" since her name was given after she caught a kit who had fallen off the top of the nursery.

snailstripe - hehhefshofi. "slithering-trail" since he was named for the trail of slime snails leave behind. just thought this one was cute tbh.

beaverstream - kenkagargerreboshush. when i tell you this name made me lose my mind know that i am telling the truth. i could not find the clanmew name for beaver so i went with "built barrier-stream" since her name was an honor title for her building skills.

FANTASTIC names! Excellent use of poetic meanings, I love Mothwatcher specifically, "Watcher" brings out the best in people doing translations for some reason!

Here's some snails 'n beavers for you!

SNAILS

Snails and slugs are considered a type of worm (Pusa), divided further into several more generic categories. I'll give you ALL the generics, and a few specific species of snail.

ALSO: Be prepared, ShadowClan has more vocabulary around snails than other Clans, because they are the only Clan that eats them regularly. I'll be making sure to note when and how their dialect differs.

Slug (Mostly gastropods... and mussels) = Ssloo Slimeworms are any worm that's ESPECIALLY slimy. They are defined by being the wettest worms. Leeches have an interesting relationship to the Slimeworm category-- ShadowClan considers them their own category under Pusa, probably because of their deep relationship with them, and define the different species. The other four lump them in with slugs, and call all three species ssufrru.

Snail (A slug with a shell) = Kewiha (Comes from cave, "Ken", baby-they "Wi", and bringing, "Hageesh." Ken-WiHageesh, "The little thing brings a cave," contracted.)

Arion (Snails that live in water) = Alof Marine snails and mussels. This word is usually referring to marine snails, but could mean any shell-producing animal regularly collected by RiverClan. Also used by other Clans to describe RiverClan's shell goods. Jingleshells (an instrument), shell necklaces, and also occasionally windchimes that contain no shells at all. The etymology of this term initially came from freshwater mussels alone and had origin in Parkmew, but after mussels died out in the River Chell, it came to describe anything in the water with shells.

And now, specific species of Snails, in both Kewiha broadly and Alof... and GET READY FOR SHADOWCLAN TO MAKE THINGS DIFFICULT

(NON-ShadowClan) A white-lipped OR a brown-lipped snail = Porsh Other Clans do not care about the difference between these two snails, owing to their natural diversity of shells. Both species are used in a type of divination, called Shai-een-Sek... EXCEPT in ShadowClan, where both species have unique names and uses.

(ShadowClan) Delicious Snail (White-Lipped, Cepaea hortensis) = Gapor THIS snail is eaten as a delicacy, and in LARGE amounts. Processing these snails makes for delicious treats in ShadowClan, especially for kittens who have fun figuring out how to get the meat out of the shell. Because they are eaten, their shells are a byproduct, and considered sacrilegious to use in divination.

(ShadowClan) Herald Snail (Brown-Lipped, Cepaea nemoralis) = Poen But you can't just use any Brown-Lipped snail in ShadowClan. StarClan only deserves the best snails, you must present them with something worth their time. They come in many colors and morphs, but a proper Holy Snail has a distinct white swirl on its brown shell, with a brown lip around the rim. You may not use the OTHER morphs.

(ShadowClan) Cosmic Dust Snail (Also Brown-Lipped, Cepaea nemoralis) = Porsh OR Keshof. Using the word "Porsh" in ShadowClan is referring to a Herald Snail with an off-color shell, also sometimes called Kewiha Sh'hoffes, or Keshof. ShadowClan believes that these snails are the byproduct of StarClan working upon the world, bearing the "cosmic dust" of their work upon their backs. It can be a bit derogatory in ShadowClan, like calling someone an accident, and they insist that the other four can't tell Porsh from Poen.

Garden Snail (Cornu aspersum) = Mokew The most common gastropod that Clan cats encounter. Also eaten by ShadowClan, but not considered quite as delicious as a gapor. Shells are occasionally used in decoration when the patterns are particularly bright or contrasting.

Kentish Snail (Monacha cantiana) = Meyloo The waste-snail. Mostly used by ShadowClan out of disappointment they taste bad, but will be eaten when starving, other Clans just lump them under Kewiha.

Pond Snail/Whelk (Lymnaea stagnalis) = Wook The marine snail that RiverClan is most familiar with. Though it's not actually a type of Whelk, I encourage using it as a translation just so it looks good in a name, and has a similar spiral-shaped shell.

Freshwater Pearl Mussel (Margaritafera Margaritafera) = Kofoo From Arion + Lake. An extremely rare creature back in the Forest Territory, mostly spoken about in legends. The water quality was just too poor for these animals to thrive there, and they died out in the River Chell around the same time as SkyClan's exile. Once the Clan cats came to the lake, they were able to see these creatures for the first time in generations. The word Alof (which originally meant mussels) was combined with the word for lake, creating Kofoo.

Here is a bonus; some group-words for the various categories!

Patch of mussels = K'kbw OR Kikibwa Important because RiverClan makes notes of these locations and makes sure they don't take too many. This word is made to be said underwater, between cats who are diving. It's two clicks and a bubble. Above water, spoken with air, it becomes Kikibwa.

Beautiful shell = Sek Contrast with Eksh (hard shell, of mussel, describes curled horns of rams) and Babaak (exoskeleton, shining shell of insects.) Sek are the shells of most snails, decorative things that can be strung on a necklace.

A type of divination using the shells of Porsh/Poen = Shai-een-Sek [Star-inside-Shell]

The Lake = Oorr Sangkoorr A word that means "Lake Lake Lake." When Daisy was asked the name of the Lake, she explained it was called "Sang Koorr," which is a corruption of the ENGLISH word for SANCtuary Lake, which became Sang in Seamew, combined with the OLD LAKEMEW word for lake, which was Koorr. Lake Lakelake.

BEAVERS

AND, LASTLY, before we close out, Clan cats DO have a word for beaver... and here is a little tidbit from BB;

European Beaver (Castor fiber) = Hyoog Also sometimes called the Ukum Kenkagarn in ShadowClan. The Construction Buddy. Dovewing had a great reputation in ShadowClan LONG before she joined it, it was her quick thinking and great hearing while on her quest with Tigerpaw and the Beaver Patrol that made her realize the strange creatures were defending kittens in their dam. Rather than just destroy a structure the beasts would surely rebuild later, the patrol clambered in and stole the kits, luring the family all the way back to the Lake. While Rippletail died in the process, his sacrifice wasn't in vain. ShadowClan is very fond of the creatures and their willingness to help with Blackstar's Bog Project, protecting them zealously.

Side note: This is actually what a beaver sounds like. In fact, I want you to imagine what you thought a beaver sounds like right now.

What if that star we see on the other side is Nuwa?

In this post, I will point out many connections between Nuwa, stuff we see in the show, and other connections I make in this post. I will use these connections to construct a semblance of a backstory for MK, as well as theorize what MK is, and what may be in store for us in Season 5 (among other things).

Nüwa is often depicted holding a compass or multiple compasses, which were a traditional Chinese symbol of a dome-like sky.[1] She was also thought to be an embodiment of the stars and the sky[1] or a star god. - Wikipedia

Because why don't we take a look at your name?

In Chinese, the word for 'whirlpool' is wo (Chinese: 渦), which shares the same pronunciation with the word for 'snail' (Chinese: 蝸). These characters all have their right side constructed by the word wa (Chinese: 咼), which can be translated as 'spiral' or 'helix' as noun, and as 'spin' or 'rotate' when as verb, to describe the 'helical movement'.  - Wikipedia

That's funny, because THIS:

And oh, would you look at that? The sky appears to be cracking in a swirl-like fashion! Perhaps in a way that one might describe as a 'spiral'? Or maybe a 'helix'? Or like the sky is 'spinning'?

But why don't we hit the brakes on this, and mosey our way to another one of your myths?

Perhaps the one that caused people to connect you to MK in the first place?

Perhaps... the myth of how you created humanity?

As creator of mankind, she molded humans individually by hand with yellow clay.[4] In other stories where she fulfills this role, she only created nobles[5] and/or the rich[6] out of yellow soil. Hm? Why did I highlight that little bit about her creating commoners from mud? Well, I'm glad you asked! Because guess what appears SEVERAL times throughout the show?

MUD.

And guess what MK is covered in when he first arrives at Pigsy's?

MUD.

And in the show, it's very heavily implied that the little monkey figure in Nuwa's hands in the below scene is connected to MK somehow!

You'll see why I'm pointing that out in a moment, but for now, let's take a little frog break!

Huh? What's this? It appears new information is coming in! Let's see what we got!

The character nü (Chinese: 女; lit. 'female') is a common prefix on the names of goddesses. The proper name is wa, also read as gua (Chinese: 媧). The Chinese character is unique to this name. Birrell translates it as 'lovely', but notes that it "could be construed as 'frog', which is consistent with her aquatic myth.[7] - Wikipedia

OH SO YOU'RE A FROG NOW HUH?!

But yes, I believe I've pointed out enough possible connections! So why don't we see how things relate to MK?

Let's start small! With when Mk first showed up at Pigsy's!

Here, we see he's covered in mud and dirt.

But what if he's also covered in clay?

And where did all that dirt and mud come from?

I have two possible answers:

Nuwa had to get the mud and clay to create humans (and also probably MK) from SOMEWHERE. So perhaps where MK was born had a lot of mud?

That mud is actually some of the clay and dirt that Nuwa used to make MK. He's just covered in excess amounts of it.

Now, here's another question:

How is he covered in so much, when he's in the middle of the city? Surely much would have fallen off on his trek through the streets if he'd come from a forest outside? This isn't even mentioning how there doesn't even seem to BE a forest outside the city, just desert!

To best answer this question, I would like to refer to these two scenes:

In both of them, MK is falling out of the sky.

Yeah.

Yeah, that's right.

I don't think MK was dropped off at Pigsy's.

I think he dropped OUT OF THE SKY right onto Pigsy's lawn.

As in he CAME FROM THE SKY.

Hence his name in the Chinese version of the show, Xiaotian, which apparently means "Little Sky".

Let's also take a look at the mountain where it's implied he was born.

It appears to be VERY high up. It's also surrounded by floating islands. Perhaps... it itself is a floating island? But where? Surely not above Megapolis. Perhaps... on the other side of the sky? Far across those stars nestled in between the cracks of reality?

Surely, time will tell.

So, here's the basic gist of what I think went down:

Nuwa made MK out of clay.

She sealed him inside of Wukong's stone, which she reconstructed around him with the pieces of it.

Eventually, he was born from it.

Somehow, he ended up falling off the mountain, and ended up falling through the sky.

He dropped right on to Pigsy's front lawn.

Additionally, the sky cracking open is apparently not a new event in Chinese mythology.

In fact, the first time it happened, you were there. And you fixed it.

With ROCKS.

In the Huainanzi, there is described a great battle between deities that broke the pillars supporting Heaven and caused great devastation. There was great flooding, and Heaven had collapsed. Nüwa was the one who patched the holes in Heaven with five colored stones, and she used the legs of a tortoise to mend the pillars.[4] - Wikipedia

So, perhaps in Season 5 the crew will go looking for you for help with making sure the sky doesn't tear open?

But then, where would they find you?

Perhaps.... ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE SKY?

- Goes by the pronouns they/them

- They are a loner but were once a jewelry maker of Gardenclan. Gardenclan is filled with cats who have bug like traits, such as wings or antenna.

- They have a snail shell and little antenna. They are also a munchkin cat!

- They often make wedding bands for new mates or cats wanting to propose. They still work for Gardenclan as well as Vernalclan and Tidalclan

- They got their prefix from their snail like traits.

- They got their suffix from their markings.

- Their father, named Centipedeclaw, is the deputy of the clan and their mother, named Ladybugswirl, is a loner. They aren't together anymore and did not leave each other on good terms. In fact, Centipede had Ladybug exiled after she wanted to break things off. Snail lives with their mother.

- They were born with two sisters who died young. Their names were Junekit and Milipedekit.

- Centipedeclaw tried to kill them by knocking them into the ocean. Luckily, a she-cat was there to save them. Snail went back to the clans camp and told the clan what their father did. The leader of the clan, a cat named Atlasnectar, exiled Centipedeclaw. Ladybugswirl was allowed back in the clan but chose to stay as a loner and this when Snail decided to leave.

- They have a girlfriend who lives in Tidalclan. Her name is Orcasplash. She is the cat who saved them.

- They absolutely love to make jewelry for others and will make you a charm bracelet after knowing you enough to know the right charms for you.

- They are particularly deaf and have been from birth. They can read lips, which they use for understanding cats around them.

- They speak in signs which is kinda weird to the clans because they don't really know what they are saying but their friends and family think it's adorable. They mostly uses signs to express themselves but they can speak when they get overly emotional. It hurts them a lot to do so though.

- They normal wear rose petals in their fur. They will have yellow rose petals in their fur most times because they are their favorite.

- Their charms on their bracelet mean a few things to them. A moth for the symbol of their clan. An orca for Orcasplash. A mushroom for their favorite food. A snail because they really like bugs and snails are cute.

Ahhhhh!!! They are done! I loved drawing them again. I missed them. Dearly. My sweet little snail. Their family is a mess but I liked writing the lore for them. I really hope you all like them as much as I do! I hope you have a great day! I'll get into the bugs now soooooo.

Snailmottle is obviously a snail. I made them a common garden snail.

Centipedeclaw is a centipede. I had to do research for the antenna, and I gagged. Centipedes and millipedes are the only bugs I don't like.

Milipedekit is a milipede. She looks a lot like her father.

14. Oooh hmmmmmmm Ginny Time Travel AU.... ooh! or!!!!! Claysmond anthology!!!!!!!! Yeah. Yeah I'd be happy with either of those. Esp because the GTTAU adaptation could tidy up some of the issues and integrate The Riddle Problem into the main continuity (and... maybe give a better ending than Miles To Go whichhhhh.... sorry about that one). Claysmond anthology is a favourite of mine, though. Would love to see that one, like with my eyeballs, fully visualised. I don't. I don't know why i put it like that. That's how - that's how vision works. You know what? Let's move on.

16. Whenever. Sometimes I have the title first, like with The Things That Bind Us - And The Ties That Blind Us. You know. Because of the saying? The ties that bind us. I was playing on that before I had a single word written down for it. And the same with For What It's Worth, because that's like... the entire thematic underpinning of that story. Heaven Sent. too! I just thought that pun was funny. It didn't have much to do with the actual story other than as a sort of... apt reference to how John even got kids with Mary. Ah, cupid plotline. awful shit. Anyway. But other times it's just kind of like... A good turn of phrase I use, or once I've written something there's a thematic throughline I can apply, like all the poetry references in the GTTAU; Miles To Go is from a robert frost poem. The Want Of Gold To Stay is in reference both to a thing that became kind of a motif of the story which would be sort of a spoiler so I wont say, but also specifically to the poem (also robert frost) Nothing Gold Can Stay. There's - lol there's more than just Mr. Frost's poems in those fics, lol. But yeah. Later was named for what ended up being a motif in the story - that things would all have to be addressed later because the world was ending now so important things were being put off for the sake of survival. So sometimes it's based on something from the story, or I have an idea for a title first. Like, I didn't have a name for Kneel and Disconnect before I posted it, it had a working title for ages, but I ended up using The Incident album lyrics for the chapter titles because Kneel and Disconnect (have a listen, if you like!) happened to start playing when I was working through the metadata portion of posting a fic, so I just used that, you know? It actually kind of fits, which is lucky. (Some, like the Shield Agent!Stiles AU, never lose their working titles. I'm a professional I promise.) Also some of my fics get the Not-Fic: prefix because I like to let people know when it's more an outline than a properly written out fic, like Not-Fic; Inverted Relativity Falls. or my nat time travel fic i... 'wrote' forever ago and never like, extrapolated into. actual fic. oops. I put it into a series and everything! I meant to! I just never did! I'm very reliable. I promise. I swear your marriage prompt is getting written bestie. Promise <3 (genuinely. I'm just... slow.)

Anyway, I think too much about fic titles. And when I can't think any harder about the title or my head will explode, I give up and use latin. Ab Epistulis, In Inceptum Finis Est, Veni, Vidi, Conatus Sum, etc... that's me not knowing what to name something and not actually having had a working title to just leave applied, lol. Sometimes the working title is just 'f'. First key I press on the keyboard as a touchtypist just to fill the required box in the ao3 input screen because, as a perfectly sane and sensible woman, I write all my fic directly into Ao3. :). I don't recommend it. I lose a lot of writing. Often.

All improv babeyyyy actually the only one I knew how it would end first was the claysmond anthology (because the 5 + 1 nature of it meant that in the + 1, claysmond needed to end tragically and never happen, so I knew the ending needed to be some kind of sad or bittersweet) and your prompted fics because you wanted fluff... from me, which. I mean. I managed! A bit!! Kind of!!! They ended happy, anyway. Don't - Don't think about the fact itc and it's sequel were set during the camping trip of doom so all the bad that happens after still. happens after. don't think about that. :) All was well :) :).

I finally finished the template for my limeblood. Well, there are some things that are unfinished, but that’s because there’s nothing to but on those parts just yet. I’m going to put the info below this under a readmore as I’m on a computer for once.

Pronunciation: Sesh-hat Le-pori

Namesake: Seshat is an Egyptian goddess of knowledge and wisdom. Lepori is shortened from leporidae, the family rabbits are in.

Tag Explanation: Bookish means devoted to reading and studying rather than worldly interests.  Cuniculus means a small conduit or burrow, as an underground drain or rabbit hole.

Build:  Lithe, almost childlike

Appearance: Seshat has the average gray skin and black hair as most other trolls.  She has shoulder length hair and her eyes are slightly filled in with her blood color (unless in canon, than her eyes have the plain dark gray irises of young trolls). Her horns look a bit like short rabbit ears with rounded edges. She wears a black long sleeve with her symbol on the front in lime, dark lime capris, and black boots with lime laces. Whenever she reads, she wears a pair of frameless oval glasses.

Hive: An underground hive almost like a rabbit warren, with many rooms and tunnels, and completely full of books, both in bookshelves and on any other available surface, including the floor and the staircase leading to the hive entrance. The entrance is hidden among the roots of a large tree in a forest of large trees; almost impossible to find unless Seshat or her lusus lead the way. Seshat's respiteblock is actually one of the most book filled room, with her recuperacoon tucked into a corner and large piles of books around the rest of the room as well bookshelves. There is a mini library that is the second most book filled room that has a desk with her computer on it somewhere near the back and a maze of bookshelves. It can be a bit difficult to navigate the hive without knocking over any book stacks. By the entrance on the upper floor is a room with a nestbed for Hopmom. Under the staircase is a small hidden sitting area with a pile of pillows to lay or sit on and stacks of books around the pile, which can also be used any possible jam sessions with a future moirail.

  Personality

Seshat is empathetic, sincere, and warm-hearted. She is friendly, generous, and self-sacrificing, but can also be sentimental, flattering, and people-pleasing. She is well-meaning and driven to be close to others, but can slip into doing things for others in order to be needed. She typically has problems with acknowledging her own needs and accidentally isolating herself. Though she is quite friendly, Seshat seems to enjoy more time being on her own with her many books rather than around others.

9:25 a.m. - 37 now to drop by night into the 20's - strange weather - strange angry people - my experiences with Israelis - born there called Sabras - which I think is a thorny tree - they are citizens of such an unfortunate country - combative - yes, nasty - I remember Israelis in Geneva to whom I gave a floor polisher that I had bought when we came there by mistake - I understood it was for a trial period but then the salesman clasimed I had bought it and my lawyer friend advised me, not worth fighting about - very occasionally it was used to bring our lovely parquet floors to a high buff - and when we were leaving I offered it as a gift to Israeles, who gruffly said, bring it, I had a car, I brought it to them, only to get a couple days later a nasty call - this is a piece of shit, come and get it. I did go and get it. Obviously remember it 60 years later.

So this latest Israeli - probably a menace - I will not even mention him by initials - did something really nasty that I will not take the time to detail - I did get angry with him and said a few words a lady might not have said, wrote a letter of apology - today I meet him - we look at each other and finally he says: I will never forget. I just wrote to him, reminding him of my letter of apology and saying - never forgive - and so be it.

Our first encounter was years ago when he remarked on the sandals I was wearing on a chilly day - later we met again - he never had much time for me but rushed up to the young waitressed to hold them in long, loving embraces - I did comment occasionally, but they told me they loved it. Well, when I was a waitress at 21 I would not have tolerated being squeezed at length by customers - though I did succumb to the charms of the young man who had started at the hotel as a dish washer and risen to the rank of assistant manager. Three years later he married me - a story I have written about. Also did succumb to the charms of the much older Alex in Paris. Never accepted casual squeezes from men. Some of me is a feminist. Women don't go up to men and casually squeeze them - or perhaps there are some who do. Enough of the topic. I never have.

Once again a proof how words can effect people - obviously his few unpleasant words - revenge! - effected me - glad for my blog to deal with it.

I had wanted to mention yesterday my feat of the day - reaching within a couple of minutes a very pleasant represantative at Verizon - this phone company that is fleecing us and loathe to do repairs, telling us the copper wring has become too expensive and we should soon forget land lines. In my pocket my cell phone - trying to get used toit before I get too old and also before landlines will be declared obsolete like so much else. I feel obsolete. For my cell phone and ipad that I still have not learned how to use - now AT & T is fleecing me - who, when I moved in with Paco in 1973 charged for his wall phone that he used very little - $12 a month.

I don't study bills often enough - did study my Verizon bill - unbelievable how many charges there are - had contracted with them when they offered for $17 a month forever permanent wi-fi connection (my sons in Massachusetts pay a small fortune for their connections that are not even reliable) - and I was reluctant to disconnect until I got a new computer - still working on it - because I might not be able to get it again - look at my bill and suddenly it is $24.99 - then I see two $8 charges that are nebulous - look at the five pages of the bill, no phone number to call. Find one in an old address book. Of course get a machine - by the time I say payment I get: I don't understand you - machines cannot deal with accents - I keep pressing 0 and lo and behold on comes a polite Jerry - tells tme the phone company noticed their error in billing me for wi-fi and will give me credit in two installments - one $3 and one $5 (they don't let go of money easily) - one $8 charge unnecxessary - the other were I to stop paying it would block my phone for long distance calls - now I mostly use the cell phone with unlimited calling in the U.S. (don't know about Canada) - and when I call Europe I use a prefix - but still want to be able to use phone for the occasional long distance call - like when cell phone says: call cannot be completed. Still, the amoiunt of money I pay every month for "communication" is absurd, many many many times the $12 a month we paid for the phone on the wall in 1973.

I try to explain to the anti-blog friends why I need a blog - last not least - they never answer their cell phones - in no way willing to listen to my trivia of the day, as this here computer is. I decided one great virtue of French Christine was answering calls promptly - the Aristocrat - yes, Christine I do miss you and if calling a cell phone in Paris would not be ridiculously expensive, I would enjoy talking to you. Hope you are doing well. And if you were to send me a snail mail letter - it seems you have given up on the computer - I might answer. Does not seem to occur to you. I am quite sick and tired of the answering machines that promise a prompt reply - a reply that never comes - and also of so many people who anser calls and messages with great delays. I do answer calls and messages promptly - also most emails - part of the aristocratic me. Not always there, alas.

I have come to realize, the longer I make these messages, the less response I get - and I understand. When I used to write long letters people often told me I overwhelm them - they feel they must write a long letter back and so they never write. When I would happen to meet them they told me how much they anjoyed my letter and how sorry they are never to have answered. Of course many of them would write drafts for letters, find writing difficult, only send out a perfect letter - that never came to be. In French: Vive la difference - long live difference, we all are different and that is what makes life interesting - no clones yet.

Today 40 miles an hour wind gusts are predicted - once again - making me reluctant to go out - last not least they make loose - air conditioners? - and what not, fall. I see the sun is shining - yesterday I did enjoy my outing to the Polish church - where first one of the many Poles who like other foreigners have spent their lives in their communities - often happier than I am - and barely learned any English - a not very happy looking woman - immediately vehemently waved me off when I tried sitting down next to her, she was alone at a big round table. My Czech friends in Prague told me I look like an "Americhanka" - that was what I must have looked to her - still of the generation when women got their hair set once a week and carefully kept every strand in place. Later an English woman came - of Slovak background, also every hair in place and she sat down next to her but started talking to me in English. The pay there is $1.25 - a small container of skim milk, a slice of bread with a pat of butter, canned fruit, soup, yesterday 5 pierogi with cole slaw - I took the milk, to use with a canned soup I bought that suggests skimmed milk - the bread and butter and three pierogi and most of the cole slaw home - the woman next to me had a container - I used the dishes it had come in.

It was from the squatters I learned going to churches for meals - I remember being in Vermont, excellent food and being welcomed - so many people love cooking - my friend! - and they do need appreciative eaters. It was my Polish neighbor here who died who first took me to that church - East 7th Street, between 1st Avenue and Avenue A - and yesterday I glimpsed a sign saying that some fund for the elderly is supporting this (Trump will look to it that it gets cut) -  these Catholic churches do have quite extensive properties, Parish housing and extensive basements with full kitchens (the food I ate yesterday comes from some Polish restaurant in Brooklyn) - there are I believe ten large round tables and they are not filled. Mostly Polish is spoken. There are many activities, twice a week Tai Chi - I may check that out.

At the Catholic Worker a lot of food comes from donations and is not as fresh as the food in the church. It is free and "the ladies" are mostly homeless women and some assistance with their problems is also provided  - I would have enjoyed helping with that but it was clearly indicasted - not my domaine. Once I visited a woman in a hospital and was severly rebuked by a Suzette - this woman is my territory, you have no business visiting her. I took the strong hint - though I had askwd Jane for permission and gotten it. More about this some other time.

At the CW there are proper dishes and silver - at the church all is plastic and thrown away - no dishes to be washed. At a Protestant church on 2nd Ave and 7th Street there were dishes and silver ware - an excellent dish washer - dishes on a belt going through it - no endless washing by hand as at the cw - work to be done by people like me.

From the church I took enough food home for my dinner. Then I passed by Weill Cornell where I had gone for physical therapy - so strongly recommended by my fried who has medicaid that pays for it - I got a $93 bill for a useless examination of my feet, neuropathy had already earlier been found - and yesterday I asked, what would co pay be on my physical therpay sessions - and was told the hospital charged medicare $400 for a 30 minute session - I still cannot believe that - sadly Trump does have some points - and since I had no supplemental, as I should - I would be charged 20% - this could come to $80 per session - thank God I've only gone for two and already had cancelled the ones scheduled - no one had warned me - this may cost me $160 plus 93 - 253? - for something totally useless - I cannot believe it - have not paid bills before and gotten endless call from collection agencies and threats and my bank told me I had lousy credit rating - infuriating. I'm glad my GP - who had told me physiotherapy in my case was useless, but my friend who did on medicaid get it for free is such anthusiast for it - it helps some people but I also met a few who have been hurt - I am stunned.

I came home and fell asleep. Too much. Then headed for Washington Square Park - beautiful warm weather, called my sweet grandson who works nearby and who came promptly - he so enlightens my day and is so aware of all the - let's call it bullshit - going on - needs n o explanations - one of the very few people who understands me and treets me kindly - makes up for all the slights and indignities I encounter as the old and somewhat weird old woman that I am - alas he did not have very much time, but every minute was a pleasure - then I handwrote an essay - about anger, rage, becoming a favorite topic - stopped at an exhibit at Grey Galleries, Inventing Downtown - I had stopped there earlier, called my Grandson to tell him about it - it's about the artists who turned the Lower East Side - a poor looked down upon slum into today's East Village - my friend Paco had been one of them and while I sadly never got into visual arts - yesterday read about the great teachers Bush had who now is an artist - also never learned about music, dance - my childhood under Hitler robbed me of a lot - still, I recommedned to him to see it.

The arskasa ona language of the ravens of antimony, and the basic dictionary

The alphabet of desire known as the Ravens of antimony can also be written, and spoken using its own syntax, and grammar. It's language is primarily based off english and is primarily used by me The Wolf of antimony to obscure information from people I do not want to know it. It is also used as a magickal language in my rituals, and spells as something that can connect me more in my craft when I am partaking in it. This language is made up of the 36 sounds of the ravens of antimony alphabet of desire. These sounds are connected together along with the meanings of the sounds to form words. This means that you can take the ravens of antimony's word for raven which is arskasa, and are able to split it down in its letters to gain its basic meaning. In the case of arskasa it would come down to AR - SKA - SA. AR meaning wise, SKA meaning life, and SA meaning dark, so the word for Raven technically comes out to in its base meaning wise life dark. Arskasa is a word that is also made up of a another word. This word being arska meaning animal. Also each letter is its own syllable and will be spoken as such. The Ravens of antimony language is written, and spoken in subject-verb-object sentence structure, just like English.
