There have been a lot of negative posts about how this season turned out bc of the rat grinders exclusively and everyone is entitled to their opinions on the season. But in light of it, I’m gonna throw out some positives about this season 💖

Sophomore year will always hold a special place in my heart because of the Fabian arc but Junior year might be my favorite fantasy high season overall. I loved learning about Ankarna and Cassandra. I thought I’d be bummed out not seeing some of my fave npcs but the downtime mechanic and the stress tokens added sO much. The Porter & Jace reveal was incredible. KRISTEN’S CAMPAIGN ARC!!! Fabian and Mazey!? K2 and all the blimey shenanigans 👏 Everything with Wanda Childa and Ruben and fig’s complicated women podcast was sooooo funny. I genuinely laughed harder this season than I have with any other d20 season I’ve seen.

I feel like with this season they really hit their stride with pacing too. It felt a lot more fluid with how we rolled into combat most of the time. I loved that first party of the year and seeing Adaine become the party wizard. After ep 18 it makes me love the party with the Oisin missing his shots so much more bc he got in that nasty little one liner later. I adored that the rat grinders were essentially a red herring to keep the bad kids looking elsewhere to take the heat off Porter and Jace a bit.

We didn’t see much from all of them, and we didn’t see nearly enough about Lucy, but I really loved the Rat grinders as in school rivals for the bad kids. Ruben was hands down my favorite but goddamn did I also love how much of a girlfailure Kip was. I loved seeing her rage out and I hope we get to see her really go nuts in the finale too. I really really warmed up to Mary Ann last episode with her tugging on Jace’s shirt and saying she didn’t feel good and then seeing her rage when her strawberry got destroyed. She’s so fascinating to meeee. I loved everything with Buddy and Kristen. I wish they had more scenes together. And while I’m talking about the Dawns, that entrance from Bobby Dawn as the new cleric teacher made my skin crawl in the best way. I loved Kristen calling him frumpy and sad on her teacher evaluation too- and holy shit Fig meeting Ankarna for the first time? Ankarna being the inspiration Fig needed to make music again too?

The incredible art from Cait May this season was hands down one of my FAVORITE d20 artist collabs ever. Just overall improved designs for everyone that just make so much more sense for their characters and art for new characters that made me adore them even more. Also holy shit the Porter maxi is genuinely my favorite mini that’s ever been featured on the show. I’m typically not into how the minis look in general, they always look a lil goofy to me but goddamn when they hit, they fuckin HIT.

And speaking of Porter, I really got endeared to him this season. Yeah he turned out evil and always has been a dick to gorgug and is definitely a shit teacher, but before the reveal I loved his training with Fig and Zara. One thing about Fantasy high is that I just love a lot of the teachers. My two faves this season being Terpsichore and Henry! They’re both so dedicated to their students and are such a specific type of teacher that you’ve definitely met before in real life. Like all my favorite math teachers back in school were so much like Henry and that made me love him even more.

Of course my #1 favorite thing about the world of Spyre is the religion aspect and how Brennan and Ally both approach it. That scene with Ally connecting with Yolanda and Lucy to allow them some comfort in the afterlife was so beautiful. Kristen’s talks with Bucky throughout the season were very touching and hit very close to home as someone that grew up in a religious household and doesn’t connect with the divinity I was raised on. Just- wow wow wow. I also really love that despite the breakup, Tracker and Kristen still have really interesting convos about divinity even if they don’t agree.

I loved seeing different dynamics in the bad kids too, I love the huge sibling energy that Fabian and Adaine have and the bond that Kristen and Fig have. I love how interwoven all the bad kids feel as a group. I love the little quirks that they all have, and I loved all the fandom posts about them like the sharing clothes posts and the one about how everyone lets Riz crawl on them to get better vantage points. I love Riz’s wall of text breaking down to gorgug about how much he appreciates him. Him calling gorgug a sweetie almost made me cry. I of course love all the parent/child moments this season. I loved the bad kids finally healing Lydia and seeing how happy it made Ragh. I LOVE Aelwyn and all her cats 🤧 I loved seeing Baron again and I loved how the bad kids got to the funhouse version of mordred through riz’s briefcase. I love seeing Adaine and Sandralynn bond. I loved finding out that Sandralynn and Sklonda go out for drinks and are friends. I just 💖 and goddamn, Ayda’s message to Fig and how Zara helped to surprise Fig with it. I love how Bill and Pok are such proud dads of their boys and I hope they’re doing some bonding over drinks in the after life.

And I cannot end this post without saying that I loved how cinematic this season felt too. It had INCREDIBLE imagery that you could easily visualize. Everyone at the table was in their element this time around from a role playing and a strategic standpoint. Everyone had their moment to shine and something important to do this season that fed back into the main plot. So thank you to Brennan and the intrepid heroes for giving us another killer season. After the season ended I was planning to finish Starstruck and Neverafter but I might just rewatch Junior year all over again just to get it out of my system.

Updated Bad Kids Polyamory post (probably not in junior year but later in life)

Every mentioned Rat Grinders is post therapy and counselling when they have time to rebound with their own selves

Fig is dating Ayda + relations with Gertie and Mary Ann + inconsequent one night stands with guys (all consensual now). She mostly spend time with Ayda, they live together etc but sometime she takes Gertie or Mary Ann on dates. Ayda is her half of the time and she really likes Mary Ann.

Gorgug is dating Mary Ann, Unit, Ragh, Fabian and Squeem. Those relationships vary in time, intensity and regularity and depend on the availability of everyone but he loves them all and they all love him

Adaine after a very very long time is casually dating Oisin, he got his life, she got hers but sometime their lives match and they get to hang out. It is very unclear if there's anything romantic in it. But it's nice and they like it. She also spends a lot of dates with Lucy for someone who is "not dating Lucy" but that's another thing.

Fabian is dating Mazey, Ragh and Gorgug, it's wonderful, he love it, gets plenty of kisses and they regularly prevent him for murdering his siblings

Kristen is dating Tracker (so far the broke up 7 times but it's so much better each time) and Gertie (this took a looong time), it's chaotic, it's loud but they are getting to the better versions of themselves + has a thing with Lucy? Maybe? Who knows

Riz isn't dating anyone. However he is almost all the time with Fabian, Ragh and Gorgug. He is here for some dates, for the hangouts and everything. So he is not dating them but he is not not dating them if it makes sense. He is here for the ride

Bonus: Ivy and Aelwyn finally got together. They heal together, they are mean together. It's great.

Bonus: Riz and Adaine are the ones who put up The Calendar, which is a organisation tool that everyone love but was primarily started so they stop running into people fucking at Fabian's house or Mordred Manor

YES sorry ive become insufferable about them im gonna list off everything off the top of my head

classic example of fell first/fell harder. after the breakup w zelda gorgug sorta gradually spirals into being in love w fabian but he's very much like "im not gonna put my crush on him, i'll tell him at some point but i don't wanna mess things up" and he's very...not casual but not constantly freaking out about it. meanwhile fabian gets hit by the metaphorical "in love with gorgug" bus and proceeds to be so uncool about it to the point where everyone BUT gorgug notices his crush. it's the "leans against a vending machine and breaks it" scene w mazey but 10x worse

they spar A Lot, because they're the two main melee fighters/the ones who don't rely heavily on spellcasting in combat, which means they work together on the field A Lot. as such they're very good at reading each other's body language

PDA couple alert. not to trackerbees levels there is no 69ing on the battlefield but fabian is constantly holding gorgug's hand or leaning against his side and gorgug is constantly hugging fabian from behind or resting his chin on his head. fabian is touch-starved (hallariel isn't exactly the cuddling type and bill's physical affection tends to come in random bone-cracking bursts) and just sort of melts into gorgug

he also melts into gorgug bc gorgug is very earnest and sweet and fabian "expressing genuine vulnerability is dangerous" does not know how to process this other than by becoming a ball of deeply enamored mush

you've never seen someone give as many gifts as fabian does. even if it's just smth like a coffee or tea when they meet up before classes bc fabian knows that he needs the extra energy. there's big gifts too, like the giant workshop and lab he converts one of the multiple training rooms in seacaster manor into for gorgug to artifice (state of the art, ofc), but also things like a special holster for drumsticks, pillows enchanted to maximize restful sleep, etc.

gorgug retaliates by making fabian Many Things. often accessories. several with tin flowers on them (he also makes the engagement and wedding rings, when it eventually comes to that. and it does. to me.)

fabian gets a little emotional whenever he's offered another flower

fabian is also big on terms of endearment and pet names but "darling" is very specifically never one of them. gorgug's favorite of the bunch is "flower"

gorgug loves watching fabian dance. fabian also loves watching gorgug artifice. there tends to be an admiring onlooker in their various workspaces

the hangman fully offered to throw itself into a ditch so gorgug would come fix it again if that would help fabian flirt w gorgug. fabian refused. the hangman kept asking and was only effectively stopped when reminded that gorgug owns the hangvan

idk i just think they're so in love and they match up so well i think about them always. fabian also goes to so many cig figs concerts with big ol glittery signs covered in hearts and gorgug is always flustered when he sees him in the crowd, much to fig's delight. when gorgug mentions wanting to write fabian a song she is immediately on board and insists he has to do it

fig needs to know details immediately and gorgug is. so bashful about giving them. meanwhile fabian WANTS to gush and riz is like ily im so happy for you i dont need to know all the details. this does eventually mean fig bugs fabian for details and fabian eagerly gives them

unlike his mother fabian knows loving someone with a human lifespan when you're going to live well beyond one means you have to treasure every single moment with them. so he does. and gorgug knows he will love him no matter what plane he's on, living or dead

Ok, so this is a little unorthodox for me because I usually only put songs from the characters' perspectives on their respective playlists, but I can't get this scene out of my head. In my mind, this is Mazey's perspective from the chunk of that first downtime when Fabian invites her and everyone else in dance class to Seacaster Manor, and Fabian starts to really come out of his shell.

Think of it like a slow-burn montage of the two dancing (literally dancing) around their potential feelings for one another. The song has a really nice groove to it, and it matches up with Mazey's cool and earnest personality.

FHJY Finale Thoughts: Episode 19

Disclaimer: I know I've been really negative about the last two episodes but I do actually have real criticisms, and I will try my best to not be just 'I hate this' about everything. No promises though. Also, none of this is hating the IH or Bleem. I respect that they're very fucking tired when shooting this and don't have a week in between episodes to think, and so these criticisms are made with that in mind. Also feel free to debate and discuss, I just wanted to share my opinions and try to pinpoint where the narrative went wrong, or where BLeeM could've made a better DM choice, but I love hearing other people's thoughts!

Bringing back K2: Bringing her back to have a second healer is really smart, but saying that Kristen liked having a sister around doesn't make sense. There was never any moment where Kristen and K2 seemed to get along, and honestly, I think K2 got along more with Fabian and Fig. Show don't tell is actually really good advice.

The short rest (and Ice Feast): Just nope. Nope. Not a fan, solidly don't like it. This is the big finale, and I felt more concern during the dragon fight than here. That's the problem with playing level 14 characters, I'm aware, but like. Not letting them take the short rest, actually having The Rat Grinders be skilled at fighting (If Brennan was lying about them grinding rats, you don't think he was lying about them only doing the killing blow on monsters? Plus, do you really think Porter would have his first worshippers and warriors only know how to do a killing blow?), having Kipperlilly steal the votes, anything man. Ice Feast played a big part in giving them the advantage, and I wasn't cool with that too. Taking away fire damage, making them unable to be stunned, all of that took away like the biggest threats of the fight. (I do think it's really cute that Brennan actually made Ice Feast for his friends, but allowing them to use it before the final battle, on top of the short rest was too much)

Strategy: Rewatching, it's actually fun to see them strategize because they're so good at it! It just sucks that they feel nothing but hate for these kids and we know that doesn't change after everything they've seen. And the narrative's going to reward them for it.

Squeem: Honestly? Also, not my favorite. Like, to have a short rest, and Ice Feast, and several allies on their way? What's the point of even fighting? Just skip to the victory dance. (Was so funny to have the return of hot chocolate with a shot of cortado, and lemonade cortado)

Battle Set: Once again, the art department has fucking slayed. Truly, such a work of art. 10/10, no notes.

Mary Ann: Not getting into it a lot with this episode, but see here for my general thoughts. Also, not happy with the cast's reactions to Mary Ann freaking out over getting her strawberry burned, as that's most likely her having a meltdown.

Ivy: I do appreciate Brennan trying to get the Bad Kids to be nice through the Hangman. Also, if Ivy truly does like looking good, great for her, but the only things we know about her at this time are that she's besties with Oisin, she was into Fabian, she's kinda bitchy, and some of her class stats. So the idea that just because she's a "mean girl" she'd take offense to getting called ugly feels misogynistic, especially coming from a complete stranger/someone literally not in her universe of existence. As for what Fabian said and did to Ivy, in my opinion, part of it is because he rejected Mazey at the party to impress her and feels bad, part of it is because she rejected him, and part of it is because he feels bad that he 'yes and-ed' the racist remark she made about Mazey. Also, the close proximity to the rage stars. I think he was wrong for what he said, and I'm not going to get into the virginity comment now because I still have a whole 'nother episode to get through, but I do want to say this is when Fabian/Mazey stopped being cute to me. Also, Brennan using Ivy's last moments to have her make a mean comment really feels like he's trying to cast her as the mean girl, which again, it's fine if she is. You can't convince me she's not just a kid scared for her life.

Oisin: Smart to get him somewhere he can't counterspell Adaine, and to take him out of the fight first, but why didn't we have anything directed at him? Like, I know that he never really got close enough to Adaine for episode 18 to be a full betrayal, but everything with Ivy and Ruben was so intense, I'd expect something. On behalf of Ivy and Ruben, I'm offended he was mostly left alone. As a general Rat Grinders enjoyer, this does count as a (small) w.

Buddy: So sad that Ally's insight roll on him failed, and I will not tolerate anyone calling him stupid or naive about the plan: see here. I get annoyed that Buddy was played up as a joke villain, but whatever! He's just a dumb southern hick, right?

Ruben: Saying there's no loyalty from Ruben is soo arrogant. They never emotionally connected so who would he be loyal to? The friends he's had for three years, or some random girl who had one real conversation with him? Tumblr user @rubenhopclap says it best. Fig's speech to Ruben is just *argh*. Girlie you don't know anything about him! (I do understand Emily's annoyance, because she did spend like at least one roll per downtime session on Ruben! But also... it was Wanda Childa talking to him, not Fig. He didn't have a real person to connect with, so why would he bother?) Like, out of all The Rat Grinders, we have explicit information that he is scared despite all of the rage and yet she just yells in his face? Thought the theme of the season was doubt beats anger, not war conquers rage. I'm also uncomfortable with Fig, who earlier in the season explicitly states that she think she's a monster for ruining one person's stay in hell as opposed to punishing all of them, deciding that just because Ruben was annoying and a waste of time he should be going to hell to be punished.

Kipperlilly: No notes. Literally, girlie was getting w's the entire episode.

Jace and Porter: No notes. Honestly? Their fucked up dynamic carried me through the finale.

The Lava: Just another solid no. With the amount of advantages we already have, it makes no sense to let their 'being immune to fire' translate to 'being immune to magma.' Bringing in some science, magma is literally a fourth state of matter, different from water. That's not going to feel like taking a swim, it's going to feel like getting crushed by cold lava. (Yes, I understand different DM's would allow that and different DM's wouldn't allow that, but with the advantages they already have, I feel like making them roll even for just half damage would be fine. Plus, fucking common sense says 'don't jump in lava, even if you have fire immunity.')

Making fun of Porter: I adore a group of teenagers just absolutely clowning on a 40 year old teacher, but I do wish they had engaged with the themes. We know it's really fucking likely The Rat Grinders have rage stars, and yet they just completely skip the part that Porter can control anyone with a rage star. And it's not like the Academy hasn't failed them before. It's not like Aguefort himself hasn't failed them before. They should be angry about that! Just, the refusal to engage with the themes in a story is irritating.

The importance of neurodivergent romance books

I am writing this post today as I've had a couple of unsolicited comments about my relationship this week that were different in tone but just reminded me that public perception of neurodivergent relationships is not the best.

One of the comments was explicitly related to my neurodivergence and how being neurodivergent in a relationship can be hard. Of course this is true but something about it just irritated me.

I am neurodivergent in every relationship I'm in, I have no choice in this. It will always be hard and I know this. It is important to acknowledge this but it's kind of upsetting to me that the first thing people think of when they think of a neurodivergent person in a relationship is "that must be hard" , not "that's really great for you" .

Up until recently I still don't think I realised it could be possible for me to have certain things from my relationship, I think I had subconsciously ruled them out in part because of my neurodivergence.

But then I read Some Like it Cold and it really changed my perception of romance in the real world and also the genre as a whole.

Previously I hadn't really enjoyed the romance genre or the idea of it. As much as I love romantic things I felt most romance books were so unrealistic and I never really related to the protagonists. I preferred romance within other genres like fantasy because it felt more natural to me.

Some like it cold made me realise that part of what is enjoyable about some romance books is they're not supposed to be completely realistic, this can make them fun and in some ways just as a escapist as a fantasy. One of the best things about some like it cold, was the unrealistic part wasn't the autistic protagonist, she was wonderfully real. The unrealistic part was the fact a very large number of romance tropes happen to her in a very short time! But thats still possible, even if unlikely which meant like almost all books, romance books can give me hope.

Another thing I hadn't appreciated was that romance can be a whole story, the lives of people and their personal relationships are important enough to be everything, not just a sub plot because that's how precious every relationships we have is (even non romantic ones). Romance doesn't have to be an escape from anything, it can just be.

Perhaps the part I didn't like was never the romance, it was the exclusion of characters like me from it. Finding neurodivergent romance books like some like it cold has been an entrance to the genre for me and now I'm finding even more books I enjoy.

I wish that more people could see neurodivergent romance the way it's presented in these books, not as something to be spoken of with a negative tone, not as something to be judged by neurotypical people but as something joyful and beautiful (the way I'd say most neurotypical relationships are viewed in media).

Book Review for Late Bloomer

Having read three of Mazey Eddings’s books, she has quickly become one of my favorite authors. The care she takes to not only address but also educate her readers is praiseworthy. “Late Bloomer” is no exception, as she takes on neurodiversity once more, tackling the topics of autism, ADHD, expectations, and adaptability. I will warn that those who have enjoyed Mazey’s previous books may be in for a surprise with this one, as it adopts a more introspective approach rather than focusing on external interactions between characters. While the humor may take a backseat in this wonderful tale, the heart and talent of Mazey still shine through, weaving a beautiful story of how true opposites can find their way to one another, no matter what obstacles are in their way.

How do you survive in a world where you put everyone and everything before yourself? Just ask Opal, as that has been her method of survival for as long as she can remember. A giver, people-pleaser, and loyal to a fault, Opal just wants to make everyone around her feel loved and special, even if it leaves her feeling drained and empty. Is it too much to want just one person in this lonely world to care for her as much as she cares for others? Apparently not when you win the lottery! With people emerging from the woodwork for her attention, including the supposed best friend who feels owed for buying her the lottery ticket (despite the fact that she is sleeping with Opal’s ex-boyfriend, who “conveniently” remembers she exists and misses her terribly), Opal needs to escape the newfound chaos that is her life. “Late Bloomer” is a beautifully woven tale that showcases the use of inner strength to face the outer world. Yes, this book spends more time than usual in the minds of its characters, but it adds so much depth to each interaction that I couldn’t imagine it being written any other way. While it may not be for everyone, I thoroughly enjoyed it and can’t wait to see what else Mazey has in store for the future.

the kiss quotient + the bride test by helen hoang: these two books were like my intro into 🌶 adult books so they have a special place in my heart. not only does it have good rep for those on the spectrum but the relationships/spice is so good. the kiss quotient is about a woman with asperger who hires a male escort to ‘teach’ her how to be better in the bedroom. the bride test is set in the same universe! this has a forced marriage/marriage of convenience and wjxjwjjxd the SPICE!! esme & kai are my beloveds <3

the mindf*ck series by s.t. abby: full disclosure GO LOOK AT THE TRIGGERS because this series is heavy. heavy HEAVY. a ceral killer who wants to exact revenge on this small town falls in love with the FBI agent that is assigned to her case. sounds messed up and it is but the romance between lana and logan stays surprisingly wholesome?? and the spice was so good. this series is a crime/thriller first and a romance second so be aware of that

get a life chloe brown (+ the next two book in the series) by talia hibbert: rarely do i blush or have any physical reaction whilst reading but hdjwjxjd yeah this series has me 😳 the whole time. the series follows a trio of sisters who all get their love story. the brown sisters are equal parts hilarious and lovable. i can’t even pick a favorite one or couple because they all are so good

it happened one summer by tessa bailey: this book is literally just a schitts creak au skdjwjjdjd piper bellinger is a spoiled rich girl who is sent to a tiny little coastal town with her sister after she throws a party that is a little too out of hand. she ends up meeting a rugged fisherman. it’s the grumpy x sunshine trope on steroids. the spice…idk what kind of water tessa bailey is drinking but it’s next level. this sequel about pipers younger sister was actually one of the books i picked up today and i’m so excited to start it!!

how to fake it in hollywood by ava wilder: this is a newer release that came out like two months ago so it’s not recommended that much and !!! i’m so confused why?? as soon as i got the arc i completely devoured it in a few hours. it’s an age gap (in a non-weird way) between a hollywood starlet and an A-lister who fake dates for publicity. this one is heavier but the smut we get is *chefs kiss*

promises & pomegranate by sav r. miller: this is one of my ‘plot what plot’ book cnjwjdjs this is a very loose hades & persephone retelling with a little bit of mafia romance thrown in. the whole thing was weird but the 🌶 was excellent even though some of the scenes made me set the book down because they got a little bit too wild (and maybe not in a good way)

a brush with love by mazey eddings: this is what i like to call my ‘comfort soft smut 🥺🌶’ book. if you read fanfic you know what i mean by soft smut. the whole book is so fluffy it makes me want to cry. and the smut is so sOft it gives me butterflies. it’s a little slice of life that follows two dental students who fall in love. the tension and chemistry between harper & dan is sizzling!!

romancing mister bridgerton by julia quinn: this is the only book the bridgerton series that has manage to put me in a chokehold. penelope and colin are my idiotic beloveds who i love to hate. slowburn (SLOWBURN as in 10+ years) and friends to lovers is my weakness. i frequently think about multiple 🌶 scenes from that book every weak because it was that good…without getting too graphic let’s just say mirrors hit differently for me now

dating dr. dil by nisha sharma: THIS BOOOOK!!!the 🌶?? legendary. it has the typical fake dating/engagement trope but the dynamic between the characters was everything. i’m a suck for bickering and the antagonizing slow push and pull that exists. and kareena/prem push and pull a lot. the spice was also steamy too

mistakes were made by meryl wilsner: the fact that i got an arc for this book is still so surreal like ?? what did i do to deserve this?? okay so for those who crave the ✨sapphic✨ 🌶 you need to check this out. it’s about a college senior who hooks up with her best friends mom. the two have a one night stand and the very next day they are thrown together. i loved this GIMME more adult sapphic 🌶

delilah doesn’t care by ashley herring: another ✨sapphic✨ book because <3 the spice…A H jdjwkdksjdkd it was so ??? i can’t even ??? how this book manages to be so sweet and so hot at the same time is a mystery

one last stop + red white royal blue by casey mcquiston: pretty sure these are two of the most recommended lgbtq+ spicy-adjacent books out there but i thought i would throw them in anyways because despite how hyped they are i adore these books so much!!

the lady’s guide to celestial mechanics by olivia waite: lesbian historical regency era 🌶 romance?? need i say MORE????

fingersmith by sarah waters: this is an older book but it inspired the handmaiden film (if you haven’t watched it gooooo check it out pls). it’s more plot heavy but yeah…historical sapphic spicy books 🤧 love them dearly

ali hazelwood books: i would not say her books are SPICY because they only have like two scenes (talking about you the love hypothesis) but the novellas get very very smutty. ali hazelwood is my guilty pleasure author. her books kill my brain cells but they are entertaining enough to make me forgive the flaws

A one, or rather, two night stand with a gorgeous Australian man leads to an unexpected event in Lizzie Blake’s life. Lizzie has always been a little bit chaotic, but dealing with her ADHD and RSD (rejection sensitive dysphoria) has always been difficult for her, it’s lead to her having a hard time just getting by day by day and has on more than one occasion lead to her being fired from her job. After a particularly bad day in which she is fired from her recent job she goes to a bar to get some steam off and then she runs into the most gorgeous Australian man ever, Rake ( he even sounds like he came out of a romance novel). What was suppose to be a one night stand leads to another night before Rake leaves for Australian... and two weeks later when Lizzie feels like something is off she realizes that the condoms she had in her bag were expired and she now is pregnant. Lizzie is determined to make it on her own and just wants to inform Rake that she is pregnant but she won’t need any of his help but Rake surprises her by saying that he wants to be involved and wants to have a relationship with the child. The only thing is Rake himself is emotionally closed off and has sworn off relationships. The only issue is that he can’t seem to get Lizzie off of his mind and now that he’s moving in with her and they start sharing a bed things are going to get much more difficult. Lizzie and Rake start to get to know one another and both of them just want to be loved for their flaws and all, but the journey to love is never easy and they’ll both have to be vulnerable and ready to open themselves up to each other. This is the second book in the series and we do get a few cameos of the couple from the first book ( which I really liked). Sadly this one missed the mark for me, while I sympathized with Lizzie, I also found that I couldn’t connect to her and that despite everything she was dealing with she really was kind of scattered. I don’t have AHDH nor do I have RSD so i think that might have played into why i just wasn’t as sympathetic to a lot of her circumstances and that’s completely on me, but I just didn’t exactly like Lizzie. The overall couple just didn’t connect with me as much as the first couple did, however definitely give this one a try. This story does have representation and a sweet romance overall.
