Like the others just say “get fucked” before obliterating that man. It’s refreshing to have someone who likes the game as much as he does.

That being said: I need Maps to unknowingly become his sidekick for a hot second.

HEAR ME OUT- They meet at one of those public chess tables in parks. He gets really attached to her bc she’s really good at riddles. He starts telling her his plans and she thinks they’re D&D campaigns so she pitches ideas every once in a while.

It’s not until she becomes Robin that she releases that the riddles schemes seem awfully familiar.

I mean imagine her trying to explain to Bruce that she inadvertently came up with the riddler schemes.

World Map!

Was this unnecessary? Yes. Definitely. I did not have to make this whole map for my worldbuilding stuff, I really didn’t, but it makes things so much easier to visualize!

Now when I talk about geopolitics I can point to a map and say “this one right here, that’s the dictatorship that is horribly xenophobic and has a massive ego but gets away with it because good trade relations!” (Top right, if you were curious)

I worked this place ground up from plate tectonics and placed biomes with the help of geological features and ocean currents. I couldn’t poured rice onto a piece of paper and traced it, but a reason for everything!

I will admit that it is quite inaccurate and probably needs to be reworked, but I’m very proud.

Now, the nations in this world have been jam packed with lore, and while I’d love to ramble about that here, it would take forever and be an organizational nightmare.

But then again, giving you a map with names, telling you it’s cool, and then telling you I’ll elaborate maybe some other time is anticlimactic, sad, droll what have you, and I don’t want this to be any of those things!

So, instead, I’ll give you a reason to stay tuned…

Aureole!

Self proclaimed “City of Sunshine” smack in the middle of a hellscape of their own making! They have lots of territory, most of it inhabitable!

Viru!

The only city where magic isn’t outlawed, and also drives half the economy by supplying the black market which everyone else pretends to hate!

Transoceanic Links!

Neutral territory, very hard to live in. Natural habitat of sea serpents and pirates.

Senit!

They haven’t noticed the entire secret city under the mountain range yet, and they probably never will!

Capitulum!

They built their capital on a giant tree! Bad design? Maybe! But it doesn’t seem to be anywhere close to dying yet.

Township of Nivalis!

Not a lot of land, but a really scary Navy.

The course is outlined in blue—it starts in the upper right-hand corner at the arena; proceeding counterclockwise to the Waldo Grade, which was an elevation change; next is Mushroom Mesa, which is followed by Ricks Rise, an elevation drop; a sharp left turn brings them to Ebe Crater, a big flat area with sinkholes that leads to the narrow slot through which is the curvy Beggar's Canyon; this leads to the Dune Sea portion of the race, but that was deleted; next is Arch Canyon, which leads to Jag Crag, where all the stalagmites and stalactites are, which goes into Lagulla Caves-where Rats Tyrell blows up; next is Tusken Turn, where the Raiders snipe at the Podracers. The last stretch is Hutt Flats, where Sebulba crashes.

the podrace sequence in phantom menace is admittedly long, but it also very visually exciting and uses many pretty environments. the combo of miniatures, matte paintings, and cgi works imho to make a convincing backdrop for the race. it's interesting to see it all broken down into the sequence, and fun to identify what part is the infamous beggar's canyon that luke flew through.

Oh look, it seems like there's a Republican-led movement to purge voter rolls in the lead-up to the election! It's almost as if your vote matters and they don't want you to vote! Anyway, I whipped up a quick map (based on this) that shows when the voter registration deadline is in each state. There are a few deadlines coming up in the next week or so.

If you live in a state that regularly purges voter rolls for infrequent voters (the orange ones in the first map), or if you moved recently, it's good to check if you're still registered to vote.

Vote.org makes it super easy to check your registration: https://www.vote.org/am-i-registered-to-vote/

Just put in your address and DOB and they'll tell you whether you're registered. (And they give you a quick link to register online if it turns out that you're not! Only the 9 states in white on my map don't have online registration, and for those they provide instructions on how to do it via mail or in person.) If you want an extra verification, find your state's election website and double-check there.

So yeah, give yourself peace of mind -- do a quick check. :)

Friends, what is the best way to go about finding out what a piece of now-public land used to be?

My father says that part of the park across the street from my childhood home was a graveyard before it was a park.

I need to confirm whether this is true or not.
