Hello Hello Hello!!!!
And welcome to my 12 Days Of Christmas event!!!
What is this?
Well I’m so glad you asked!
I have four wonderful, incredible, and amazing friends (@theseusmc, @tazzomi, @valeriistars, @starrysilv3rse) I was trying to figure out how to give Christmas gifts seeing as they’re online and I came up with this: For the 12 days leading up to Christmas I’m posting a fic of one of their top three favourite (mcyt, because you know how we do it over here) ships! Each fic also has a “prompt” and they’ll get more and more Christmasy as time goes on!
I felt so smart coming up with this, and honestly I still think it’s brilliant. 12/4=3 after all so really it couldn’t have been more perfect! Whoever said gays can’t do math was clearly wrong (lol).
To my friends: I sincerely hope you all enjoy this, it was so fun for me to create and despite how absolutely suspicious I’ve been I hope you didn’t catch on too much. I’ve been excited to start posting this since right before Halloween when I came up with it on a call! I mean- it only felt right to give you guys a bunch of silly fics since I’ve become a much better writer thanks to your help. And- I know I say it all the time, but I really do love you guys so very much and I hope this silly little thing I put together can further prove just how much I mean it. You all mean the world to me <3
To everyone else: I hope you enjoy the Christmasy fics and the excitement of daily posting which is crazy! So crazy actually! Any support means the world to me and if you did enjoy, I would really appreciate either comments or reblogs on here or on AO3. Share your thoughts with me! I live for that.
Anyways, without further ado I give you:
GemPearl: Snowball Fight
For: @tazzomi
I hope you enjoy this Tazz! And if you don’t, don’t tell me /vsilly
(Fic underneath the cut)
“Pearl, Pearl, Pearl, Pearl!” Gem runs up to her girlfriend excitedly. The Christmas season is getting underway and Hermitcraft has just seen its first snow. Snow has always been the elf’s favourite weather, and she wanted to celebrate the first snowfall with her favourite person in the whole world.
“Yes, Gem?” Pearl giggles. She’s been waiting for Gem to come bug her all morning.
“It snowed! It finally snowed!” she shouts excitedly as she bounces on her heels.
“It did!” She matches Gem’s enthusiasm. Pearl watches lovingly as Gem waves her hands around in her elation. The avian thinks her girlfriend looks especially pretty in this moment, cheeks flushed pink from the cold and bundled up in her green coat. She’d foregone her usual skirt and swapped it for brown trousers, though she looks as beautiful as ever.
The red head takes a deep breath, the air cold in her lungs; when she breathes out it’s with a white puff. “Come celebrate with me?” she asks.
“Of course! I don’t think my base is the place for it though,” Pearl smiles and reaches out to intertwine their hands.
“My base then?”
“Sounds perfect,” Pearl agrees and connects their lips for a chaste moment before they begin their short walk.
———
They had been enjoying the scenery for a while now, hand in hand as they meandered down the paths of Gem’s little kingdom. It’s gorgeous like this in the snow but well- the peace could only last for so long.
Pearl gives her girlfriend an inquisitive look as she lets go of her hand. The taller watches with a small smile as Gem walks off the path and into a much snowier area. When she bends over, back to Pearl, and reaches down, she figures it’s so Gem could feel the snow in her gloved hands.
Colour Pearl surprised when Gem whips around and throws a snowball at her. It hits right in the dead center of her chest just as Gem doubles over in laughter at her shocked expression, “Ha! I got you!” She teases with a shout.
After she recovers, Pearl laughs and darts somewhere opposite Gem, “Oh you’re on,” She starts to make a snowball as fast as she can, but not quick enough before two more hit her in rapid succession.
Then comes Pearl’s first snowball, barely making her mark. It hits the elf’s arm and causes her to squeal. The avian’s wings flutter with her laughter, oh this is so much fun, she thinks; and quickly sets to making more snowballs.
———
They run around pelting snow at each other for a whole half an hour. Smiles never leaving their faces and bright laughter ringing through the area. It’s the best way to spend a day. In the company of their other half, causing chaos, and laughing so much it hurts.
They finally pause, looking at each other with eyes full of adoration as they come down from the rush of the last while.
Though- Pearl does have one last trick up her sleeve. She inches her way steadily towards her girlfriend, trying to will her wings to keep her inconspicuous, as she throws one final snowball with all her might.
Gem doesn’t notice till it’s too late, and the thing is making contact with her face. She falls to the ground, blinking a few times from the impact. It hadn’t been quite hard enough to knock her to the ground, that was the shock more than anything. She’s giggling again soon after though, laying on the ground and letting the cold snow dampen her hair.
“Oh stars! Gem! I’m so sorry!” Pearl shouts and runs over to where the elf is lying on the ground.
As soon as Pearl is close enough Gem pulls her to the ground with her. With Pearl now over top of her and looking more concerned than she should, Gem giggles softly as she cups her face in her hands, “It’s okay! You didn’t mean to. It was fun regardless.”
“But I-” the avian frowns, the tightness of her little headwings giving away just how sorry she is.
“Nuh uh,” Gem says with a fond roll of her eyes. She connects their lips shortly after, a much longer kiss than the one they’d shared over an hour ago. The contact is a warm contrast to the cold surrounding them on all sides. It’s nice, and they both melt into it until it’s broken by too broad smiles and… the trickle of something wet?
Pearl’s mouth forms an o shape as she takes in the sight of blood trickling from Gem’s nose.
“Oh my stars, Gem you’re bleeding,” she whines and wipes at the trail.
“I’m fine! It could’ve been from the cold too, my nose gets dry. You know that!” She brushes it off.
“I think that means it’s time to go inside,” she Pearl sighs and gets off of Gem.
Once they’re both standing and dusted off of snow, Pearl sweeps her into a bridal carry, ignoring Gem’s surprised squeak.
“Pearl! I’m fine!” She laughs even as she wraps her arms around her neck.
“Well what if I just wanna hold my girlfriend then, hm?” She inquires with a raised eyebrow and a partly mischievous grin.
“Guess I can’t complain then,” she sighs and tries not to wipe at her nose, knowing it’ll stain the white gloves she’s wearing.
“Your place?” The brunette asks as she begins walking.
“Mhm, that sounds good. Oh! We can have hot chocolate! Only way to end a snow day y’know,” she hums and lays her head on Pearl’s shoulder. Just because she’s a very strong woman, thank you very much, does not mean she doesn’t want to be carried around by her equally strong girlfriend. That would be silly when Pearl is so warm and comfortable, god she’s gay.
The red head giggles to herself at her own thoughts and winks when Pearl asks her about it. She mutters something along the lines of, ‘Oh just you’, and settles in for the short walk to her castle.
———
Once inside Pearl sets Gem on the couch, then briskly walks to the kitchen. Once there, she fills a kettle with water and sets it on the furnace (which had already been lit) to boil. She also dampens a towel before rejoining Gem who from the looks of it, had just taken off her coat and shoes.
Even with blood running from her poor nose she’s the picture of beauty and elegance. Red curls tied in a braid that falls over her shoulder just right and her off the shoulder shirt that shows off the milky skin of her collarbone and chest area. When she gets closer, she sees the little gold snowflake necklace she’d gifted her girlfriend a while before they’d joined Hermitcraft. She loves her more than words can describe.
“C’mere,” Pearl calls softly, still in the throes of her admiration as she sits down next to Gem. She uses one hand to cup Gem’s face, and one to delicately wipe the blood from her face with the damp towel.
They both sit there in silence, just enjoying the quiet and each other’s presence. Gem’s the one to break first, “Thank you,” she murmurs, “For hanging out with me today and just- well for everything really. I love you Pearlie.”
“I love you too Gemmy, and you don’t need to thank me. I do it because I love you,” she giggles and sets the towel down so she can lean in.
Just as their lips are about to connect again, the kettle starts whistling. Pearl groans dramatically and stands, “We’ll continue this in a second,” she giggles.
After re-entering the kitchen, Pearl expertly takes two matching mugs from a cupboard and pours boiling water in each. Next, she takes chocolate powder mix and stirs both of the drinks together. After topping with marshmallows, they’re good to go!
She takes the mugs in her hands carefully and walks back to where Gem is still sitting. Her girlfriend's eyes light up as she claps excitedly causing Pearl to smile wider. She hands her mug as soon as she’s close enough, and before settling in herself, her mug goes on the coffee table so she can grab a blanket. The fireplace is already burning strong, but the extra fluffy blanket will be a nice layer anyways, especially seeing as they were out in the cold for so long.
Pearl lifts Gem slightly as she sits down. Once her girlfriend is comfortable in her lap, blanket covering both of their legs, and limbs all tangled together, Pearl loosely settles her wings around the both of them. She places a kiss on her cheek and finally takes her own mug in her still cold hands.
Gem hums at the taste of her hot chocolate and melts into Pearl behind her. “This is perfect, I love you,” she says with a smile.
“I love you too, and yeah, it really is.”
They stay like that for the rest of the day, empty cups long discarded in favour of cuddling closer. Warm and safe in the arms of their lover.

I'm so sorry for being so annoying but could you write another JPM where the reader's family comes to the hotel and maybe they are very loud and kinda criminals and telling stories of little reader hahahaha
I just love you and trying to keep you busy, darling🥰😊😂
How Soon Is Now?
note: heeeeerrreeee we go i'm writing again. also, how fun is this? lol. thanks for the request, darling!
summary: james finds out his sweet angel isn't so innocent after all.
warnings: talk of violence/murder, that’s really it
+++
James had always admired my purity.
I was something of an angel in his eyes. The light had finally entered the Hotel Cortez when I arrived.
Maybe it was the softness of my hair. My voice. The dresses I'd wear. The way I smiled. Maybe it came down to moments like the first time I tried his absinthe. The second the licorice-tasting liquid hit my tongue I was putty in his hands. Doe-eyed and complacent.
I liked to play up the pretty, girly aspects of myself to get his attention. I was his perfect little angel.
He was in love with the idea of a corruptable blank canvas.
I begged him to kill me. I did. Once the secret of the hotel was revealed, I suddenly felt a sense of belonging. Like I was meant to spend eternity in that dark, art-deco haven with the man of my dreams.
His transcontinental accent. The way he dressed. His chivalrous nature. He was a spitting image of my wildest fantasies.
He didn't understand my longing for a fate like his, but as his princess, I got what I wanted.
He made it quick and easy. Drugged, to preserve my beauty. I was to be his damsel in distress forever. His pretty princess living up in the tower.
Being dead, but also alive, came with its challenges. One of them being, namely, my family. They were worriers. They couldn't understand why I would up and leave my life to 'work' at some old hotel in LA.
The constant phone calls and messages became too much for me. I needed them to be able to see me in order for them to understand that I was happy where I was. That I was okay.
Obvious challenges came with that notion. James was all too happy to host them, though. Too happy.
He instructed every entity in the place to leave my family alone. He had Miss Evers prepare dinner and the most extravagant table setting she could muster. He even arranged a gold silk dress for me, topped off with a stunning string of heirloom pearls.
Everything was perfect. Until my family showed.
My parents and my three siblings made their way into the hotel rather…ungracefully. I told them to dress nicely. They did what they could, all things considered.
They, at their core, were rowdy, loud, and frankly insane.
The lineup was as follows: My father, Bruce, my mother, Margaret, or Marge, as she liked to be called, my twin older brothers Logan and Wyatt, and my older sister Ginger.
They couldn't make their way to James' suite without incident, of course. No. They had to walk in already arguing about...something. I'm not sure. It took both of my parents, with the assistance of Iris and Liz to get my brothers separated.
Upon stepping into the suite, I immediately heard a ‘it’s REALLY fuckin dark in here!’ from my sister. They really couldn’t find it within themselves to show a shred of decorum in a nice place.
I sat next to James at the dining room table, awaiting my family’s entrance. He sat at the head of the table, smile on his face. He was so excited to meet them. To understand more about his precious girl. He had his hand rested atop mine, eyes trained expectantly on the doorway.
Miss Evers’ figure appeared, then my father’s.
‘There’s my little girl!’ he shouted opening his arms for a hug.
‘Hi, daddy,’ I greeted with a warm smile, getting up from the table to hug him.
‘Wow, sweets, you look great,’ he said, admiring my outfit. Sweets was his nickname for me. My mother and sister filed in next.
‘What’s this, fuckin Halloween?’ my sister scoffed.
‘Nice to see you too, Ginger,’ I smiled. ‘Hi ma,’ I continued.
‘Y/N!’ she exclaimed, jumping in the air. ‘There’s my little baby!!!’ She rushed over to me, making a point to pinch my cheeks. Logan and Wyatt made their appearance next, still arguing it seemed.
‘No, you dipshit it’s definitely a knife,’ Wyatt huffed.
‘You would use a fucking knife in that situation? Be serious right now,’ Logan replied, throwing his hands up.
‘Hey guys! Over here!’ I waved, reminding them they were arguing loudly in public.
‘Oh hey, Y/N,’ they replied in unison. That weird twin telepathy stuff.
We all took our seats at the table, my mother making sure she was sitting right next to me. She was the one who was most worried about me, after all. It was only fitting that she’d make sure I was okay by being closest to me all night.
James stood from his seat at the head of the table and the whole room turned their attention to him. He tended to have that effect.
‘Hello, Y/L/N family! Welcome to my hotel,’ he began. ‘I’m so happy to finally have you all here. My name is James Patrick March. And you all are?’
‘Marge,’ my mom smiled.
‘Uh, Bruce,’ my dad said, weirded out at the round-robin introduction James had begun.
‘I’m Ginger,’ my sister continued.
‘And they’re Logan and Wyatt,’ I answered for my brothers. They became embroiled in conversation as soon as my mother began speaking just seconds before. Easily distracted.
‘You all make such a beautiful family,’ James declared, sitting back down in his chair.
‘So uh, just to get this straight,’ my dad began, ‘you own this place?’
‘Mm, yes,’ James affirmed, taking a sip of his drink.
‘And you’re, what, to Y/N?’ my father continued to prod.
I couldn’t help but cut in. ‘We’re together, dad. Romantically.’ I knew James wouldn’t be able to put it into terms my family would get.
‘Her?!’ my sister scoffed.
‘Yeah, I can’t lie, I’m shocked,’ my dad laughed. I shot both of them the deadliest look my face could muster, but they continued.
‘She’s a grade-A psycho,’ Ginger said. ‘Y/N how’d you bag a classy guy like this?’ I hung my head in shame. I could have tried to stop them, but once they got going there was no going back.
‘You know, she’s a nice girl but our family is just, a bit unorthodox,’ my mom explained. ‘It’s just shocking to see her live in a place this…nice. And for her to be with someone, like you.’
‘Unorthodox? How’s that?’ James asked, smile still plastered on his face.
‘She started helping us with the, uh, family business, basically as soon as she was born,’ my mom continued. ‘She was a pretty scary kid.’
‘As she grew up she learned more and sort of, haha, became our little hitman. Didn’t you sweets?’ my dad added. I lifted my head and turned it to look at James. His eyes had lit up in a way I hadn’t seen before.
‘Yeah she’s the youngest but she’s the best at roughing people up,’ Ginger said, monotonously. ‘She killed her first at what? 6?’
‘No no, younger than that,’ my mom answered. ‘I think she was 4. It was that Goldberg guy, remember? Screwed dad out of 4 grand.’
‘Ohhhh, right!’ my dad said, laughing slightly. ‘My little killa.’ He looked at me with such pride. He meant it endearingly, but I was so embarrassed. The fact that they’d willingly offer this information without being asked made me sick to my stomach. What would James think of me?
‘This is news to me…’ James purred, taking my chin in his hand. ‘She’s been quite the angel here. I was entirely unaware of her background.’ He smiled warmly at me. His eyes had a fire behind them. Ideas were brewing.
‘Oh yeah James. She was a little Wednesday Addams,’ my mom laughed. I cringed, knowing he wouldn’t understand that reference. ‘Just a scary little girl.’
‘Come on, Y/N,’ Ginger taunted. ‘You should show your new boyfriend your mad murder skills.’
‘Oh yeah, sure. I’ll slice up a guy’s neck. You want it now?’ I asked, obviously sarcastic. The whole thing was getting on my nerves.
‘How soon is now?’ James chimed in. I turned my head suddenly and looked at him. He was deadly serious about the whole affair. He seemed…ecstatic. ‘Something can be arranged. I would love to see this, hidden talent, my dear.’ His eyes flashed with what I can only describe as lust.
‘James,’ I pleaded.
‘There was a guy in the hall that gave us a funny look earlier,’ Wyatt said, breaking his twin bubble with Logan. ‘You could kill him.’
‘Wyatt, I’m not gonna kill just anyone!’ I protested.
‘I’ll see to it that he’s brought here at once!’ James exclaimed, subsequently taking a large swig of his drink. ‘But first, Miss Evers! We’d like to have our meal now! We have business to attend to afterwards!’
My secret was out, and James was about to take full advantage of it.

Haha! This was fun to write. Hopefully I’m over my horrible writers block now. Requests are back open so send em in!

🌟 for directors cut!
i am going to be wild and crazy and pick bedroom eyes for this one because i recently reread it (and dare i say i ate... just a little...)
i tend to write fanfiction for art that i think could've been so good but ultimately failed in its execution (which i have mentioned i felt about stranger things before; in my real girl job i have actually written essays about this lmao), and i just wanted to like ti west's x so badly and so couldn't. same with pearl.
so the idea sort of came from that and from wanting to write something tangentially in the horror genre, but what i loved so much about bedroom eyes was it gave me a place outside of my more consistent series (which was first one's free at this point) to try technical and structural things i was worried about -- mainly POV shifts outside of eddie and chrissy, but particularly with steve harrington, who i have a huge affection for but always hesitate to write about/from his pov (or did up until bedroom eyes! now he's everywhere!)
i have really written so much in the past year that is porn where the plot is making porn, mostly because i think i'm fascinated by pornography as a concept and always have been, but also because fanfiction is such a rich well of pornography and erotica history and culture, and it feels really satisfying for me to write about the world of visual pornography and make it literary/readable? i just sort of like the meta mechanizations there.
and i just remember being so excited to post this one. i remember i posted it on my phone on a road trip in october, and i thought it just was so fun to do a "spooky" fic around halloween (especially one without a happy ending! i love a fic that ends unhappy! it's so literary to me in the world of fix-it fluff -- which i also love, absolutely no shade). i also remember being really nervous about how people would react to steve fucking robin, even in a totally work-based environment, but people were so cool about it, i didn't have to do any sex work 101 in the replies.
i just really like this fic and like what i did with it, and love that i got no urge to continue it. it felt like it's own little world.
thank you so much for asking! i'd love to answer any more from this ask prompt.

Turnabout Memories
Hello and hap’piraki, everyone!
(Whoa... Déjà vu.)
Now that we’re finally nearing the end of this (*twitch, twitch*) year, and now that I’m preparing to step off this blog for a time, I’d like to take a moment to reminisce about all the ground we’ve covered since the day I first discovered the uniquely fun experience of Ask Ace Attorney.
It all began a few years ago when...
Oh, right -- this’ll probably be pretty lengthy, so I’ll continue below the cut.
It all began a few years ago when I discovered Ask Ace Attorney through a Google search. I don’t remember most of the details, but when I first found out about a blog that attempts to bring video game characters to life through blog posts and the power of imagination, I thought the idea was both strange...and amazing.
I’d only recently started getting into Ace Attorney at the time (after seeing Matthew Taranto’s hilarious mashup between it and the Kirby series), so I decided to send in a few letters and see if they’d get an answer. Sure enough, a few months later, I saw the first response to one of them! It was a pretty exciting feeling, to say the least.
I’d share that letter response here, but unfortunately, it included my real name, so we’ll have to save it for later. For now, here are a couple of the earliest ones from me: a deeply emotional one from Dahlia to Iris (a little far-fetched, maybe, but I CAN SEE IT HAPPENING, THE MOD), and a short, punny one from Moe to Phoenix. Not surprisingly, I enjoyed seeing the characters react to them in ways I found believable as much as I enjoyed writing these and several other letters. I knew the Mod (the only moderator here at the time) wasn’t affiliated with Capcom, but his character portrayals were spot-on each time, and my creative spark and love for Ace Attorney received some constant fuel for a while thanks to this blog.
And then...this happened. For a brief moment, I thought about how fun it would be to see if I could do what the Mod had been doing for so long, but then I decided it’d probably be better to leave it in someone else’s hands. Sure, I was a huge fan of Ace Attorney and its loveable characters, but did I really love them enough to pretend to be them on a hugely popular blog? Naaah.
I went over the rest of that story once before, so I’ll just give a brief recap here: my friend the Modthorne won the audition to become the next de Modder, I asked her if I could join, and then it ended up just being me here, followed by Mods Paups, Kristoph, and Maya. That’s the way we became the Ask Ace Attorney bunch.
So, when I first made my debut as the Commode Co-Mod, my only real strategy for answering letters was to emulate the Mod's style. I honestly wondered if I could accurately portray so many different personalities in a believable way, but, with a few hiccups along the way, I somehow managed to pull it off to some degree. I also started developing my own style and becoming less conscientious about how my portrayals looked (that definitely took some time, though), and worrying less about the blog’s popularity and overall performance review. That, I believe, was a big part of what made both of those steadily rise over time, until we ended up reaching and surpassing 12,000 followers! (I’m still geekin’ out about that one.) Just relaxing and going with the flow made things a lot easier for me, and apparently helped Ask Ace Attorney reach its current level of popularity. Something tells me that choice paid off in the end, and thank goodness.
I of course have to give credit to the popularity of Ace Attorney and its characters, as well as the Mod for giving me and the other moderators so much material to start off with, but I sure never expected my role in helping to build the Ace Attorney fandom’s strength and size to be quite this large. Heck, just getting to create things for so many people is a huge honor, so...what can I say to that, except a huge thank you to Capcom and the Mod?
Don’t worry, I’ll get to thanking all of you in just a moment. ; )
So, anyway, that’s all the general stuff. Let’s talk about the highlights of the last three years, now, shall we?
My first holiday-related post was an April Fool’s Day one, so let’s start there. We came close to hearing about Phoenix’s lawyer camp incident...
...gave a few of the characters a chance to ask some questions of their own...
...had a little run-in with some of the bad guys...
...and briefly opened the window into some characters’ minds.
We sure didn’t fool around when it came to fooling around, did we?
Then there was Halloween. We dealt with a creeper in the darkness...
...let one of the lesser-known characters go on a brief venture beyond the fourth wall...
...let some characters switch outfits and personalities for a short while...
...and paid homage to a classic interactive cartoon by letting them give out candy.
We sure had our fill of sweets and spooks, didn’t we?
And then there was Christmas, which included some of my favorite content. We enjoyed a musical performance by several members of the Ace Attorney cast...
...a less flattering musical performance by yours truly...
...a short play taking place in Pearls’s dreams...
...and a fan-made song parody about a non-canon (but believable) incident involving Phoenix and a reindeer.
(Sorry if that image cursed anyone for life, by the way.)
I don’t know about you, but I loved every bit of our holiday hijinks.
And of course, we can’t leave out some of the great moments that occurred on non-holidays, including Her Benevolence falling victim to a classic comedy gag...
...Pearls meeting herself from a different time period somehow...
...Apollo taking a trip to the Pokemon world in his dreams...
...Athena getting tricked into thinking she had passed on briefly...
...Trucy getting caught red-handed by Arnold Schwarzenegger himself...
...and, uh...this thing happening to Iris.
No idea what I was thinking back then. Sometimes you just have to go with the moment.
Not to mention one letter response that received an unexpected explosion of popularity. Edgeworth always did know how to drop a sass bomb, didn’t he? And one moment I’ll likely never forget is the letter regarding Athena’s hair. For the record, I thought the shorter hairstyle looked okay, but somehow I didn’t think she would feel the same way. Make of that what you will. X )
Of course, it wasn’t all fun times and laughter -- I ended up stepping on some toes by accident, making a few jokes in bad taste, struggling to keep a balance between blogging and the real world, and...well...
...that happened. I don’t regret a moment of it, though, because if Ace Attorney (and life) have taught me anything, it’s that powering through the less enjoyable moments in life is what makes us stronger, and what makes the good times that much more enjoyable.
But out of all the fun, hilarious, thought-provoking, and deeply touching moments that stood out in the last three years of blogging, the one I would say I enjoyed the most is this one. It was my first attempt at responding to a letter in character (with one of the biggest “characters” in the series, no less), but, as with many of my letter responses, it also included some of me in it -- specifically, the part where Athena tries to sound optimistic, but not too prideful. That was the sort of attitude I wanted to have whenever I answered letters -- I wanted to keep the fun and creativity of Ace Attorney and its characters going without injecting too much of myself into it. The series wasn’t mine, after all, and neither was the blog, so my main goal was simply to sound like the characters.
And with that in mind, let me just say this: If any of these letters (even one of them) have made you smile or laugh on an unpleasant day, made you think about things from a different perspective, or simply helped you suspend your disbelief for a moment and believe you’re actually talking to someone from a video game, then my goal has been reached.
Anyway, I didn’t mean for this to be my goodbye speech (I’m saving that for later). What it is is a sincere thank you for the fun and creativity that I and the rest of the moderators were able to engage in with all of you, thanks to our shared love of Ace Attorney, its characters, and its unique humor and depth. Every last piece of witty dialogue, every picture, every song, and every custom sprite (the last of which can be found here), was inspired by your creativity and willingness to participate in this imaginative collaboration work.
I hope you’ve enjoyed it at least half as much as I have. You guys are awesome.

Finding Life - Chapter 36 - preview - Spirit’s Eve
“...so, Spirit’s Eve is coming up. Do you know what costume you’ll wear yet?”
Robert blinked. “I… haven’t really done that since I was a kid. And even then… I was never really...uhm.” He sighed. “...since they thought that I was a girl and my parents are a bit conservative, I wasn’t exactly...happy with my options, most of the time.”
“...Oh shoot, I’m sorry. I hadn’t even considered that you would associate it like that.”
Robert shrugged. “It’s fine. You plan on dressing up, then?”
Elliott grinned. “Of course! I love Halloween! I didn’t even learn about it being a real thing that is still practiced until after I had Gotten Away, but after that I got dressed up every year, even if I could only attend public celebrations. I have a vampire outfit and a campire outfit and a video-game-vampire-outfit….” He counted them off on his hand, excited. Robert laughed quietly. “Do you have any non-vampire outfits?!”
“Sure! The first one I went with was actually for a demon. Then a chaotic wizard. But then I liked dressing as a vampire so much I sort of chose variations on it every year… You could try one my old costumes if you’d like, I’m sure you would look marvelous in any one of them...” He pictured his partner in the flowing shirts and frills. “...although I confess it might make me want to take them off of you again immediately...” He wiggled his eyebrows at him. Robert laughed. He put his own chin in his hand and leaned with his elbow on the table, smiling at him. “I’m not sure I could pull it off, I lack your fabulous hair.”
“Oh, I’m sure you’d look ravishing in a pearl frill shirt and tight dress pants...”
Robert growled quietly. “You rather make me want to see you in those outfits...”
“Hmm...” He grasped his partners other hand, softly kissing his fingers. “I’m perfectly willing to show off each one of them to you, if I still have all the parts… but I would prefer to come up with a new costume for this year. One only gets a limited amount of Halloween costumes in a lifetime and I want to enjoy it as much as I can. Perhaps we could come up with a partner costume?”
Robert chuckled. “What, like a...zebra? I’m the legs and you’re the head or something like that?!”
“While that might be fun, I was thinking of something more classy… how about...” he leaned back, picturing how his partner would look in different clothes. “...noir-style detectives. We already have the fedoras. We could both dress as old-style cops and treat the Halloween festivities as a scene we need to investigate or something like that. There is a maze every year, we could terribly overact possible clues we might find or treat each costumed person as a suspect for a possibly crime that has been committed. Perhaps the construction of the maze itself could be seen as a crime...” he idly played with his tie, thinking.
“I can see you’re very taken with the idea...” Robert grinned at him. “Playing a detective would be fun… I do have some of the forensic lingo down, at least...”
Elliott looked at him calculating for a moment. “...I mean… I would love to do a costume like that with you, but of course only if you feel comfortable with it. I wouldn’t want you to feel bitter about costuming as a cop...”
Robert shook his head. “No, that's okay. It would be fun. Though I think I can’t pull off a trench-coat. I could dig out my old leather jacket and wear that one, though, that would fit too, right?”
“You have a leather-jacket?”
“Yeah. By now it probably even fits me correctly.”
“Hrrm...Why haven’t I seen you in that yet?”
“Because you’d tear it off me again in a minute?” Robert smirked. “...but also, its in one of the boxes that I never unpacked due to lack of space. It should be in the bottom of my cupboard somewhere.”
“Well, it certainly sounds good… so let’s see… you need a shirt, grey dress pants and...I’m thinking some vintage boots. And suspenders, of course. For myself I think I’ll just need to get a trench-coat and maybe some leather boots...” He grinned at his partner, picturing him in the outfit. This would be fun.

Since it's spooky month, may I please ask for headcannons for the aged up dorm leaders reacting to their child wanting to be murdered crew mates from among us please
o m y gahhh sorry for the delay ):
i JUST HAVE NO INSPIRATION AND TIME 😔
tw : death, murder, mentions of death
riddle rosehearts
Riddle always had kept an eye on his precious child, his child was a sweet one who got the childhood he wanted long ago. It was a sweet gesture to see Riddle dote on his lovely child, playing on a gadget or a sport on the outside.
He was a sweet father, new and jumpy to each step he took in this new life. Everyone can see how dearly he loved his child, and he made sure that his child knew that too.
Halloween came up, the spooky month has now come up, it was his child’s favorite holiday. At first, he couldn’t stand the bizarre and grotesque Halloween quirks, but now his child introduced and he celebrates it with them yearly.
Each year, they dress up in different costumes and play different games for them to enjoy and goof around. After all, Riddle wanted his child to experience a happier childhood.
Now, since his child grew up to be really tech savvy, they wanted to play a new game they have discovered while browsing the net. It was Among Us, and it looked like a nifty game. The only thing Riddle disapproved of was the killing aspect, other than that, he found the game quite fun.
It made his analytical skills and lying skills sharper, making him the reliable player. While his child was a step down from him, was still a good player nonetheless,
While playing the game, a corpse was reported, their child went bright and got this crazy idea : to be the murdered crewmate for Halloween and Riddle could be the impostor.
Riddle freaked out, questioned his child’s mental health, and gave a pep talk. You see, he can only process the words “murdered” “I want”, so he worried his child was feeling negative feelings.
For weeks on end, Riddle gave a talk to them, even if their child just grew clueless to his insistent questioning on their choice of costume.
Needless to say, he didn’t went along the costume part. But he did treat them a nice tart curtesy of Trey’s family bakery.
leona kingscholar
Truth be told, he did not know what to do, he has no idea what to do with his own kid. He felt lost on how to raise the kid. Seriously, he endured a lot.
Even though that was the case, he was a wonderful father, always protective and caring.
He tries to put effort into his kid, after all, it was someone who he adored so much. It was only fair, he brought himself on this. And his effort clearly shows.
Leona's kid is a shining ball of energy, always on their feet, excited on each holiday. Heck, even days that are considered mundane, they would jump up and down. Clearly, they didn't get the lazy gene.
Speaking of holidays, his child was ALWAYS jumping and cheering when the days leading up to October are nearing. The Afterglow Savannah will be hearing "ITS OCTOBERRRR!!" from the palace.
Leona's kid is not a techy kid, their classmates are. They would peek over their shoulder and look at the blaring lights.
Every other month, their child has to bring their parents for a conference meeting. Leona grumbles, but stood on his feet to go to the conference. His kid was jumping and leaping in joy, that he introduced him to their friends.
One time, they received a tablet (with permission from Leona to let them play) from one kid, to play along their game! It was Among Us, and he beamed at the sight of the tablet.
Leona was monitoring his kid, he knew nothing of the game, but it was amusing to see his kid giggle alongside others. While the conference ended, they weren't done with the game. He nodded at his kid, waiting for the game to end.
As soon as they game was done, they went back to prepare for Halloween! His kid always liked the costumes! So, along the way, he asked his kid what they want.
"I WANT TO BE THE MURDERED CREWMATE!"
Cue, his shocked and scared face. The look of the passerbys made him laugh awkwardly and ask his kid what the heck were they talking about.
They laughed and explained the idea, making Leona grimace as he let his kid be exposed to that. But he let them have the fun, all for the smile.
azul ashengrotto
Azul was a good father, always on his kid's side, smiling and being a strong figure that they can look up to. He matured into a nice man, he is far from his college student self.
He smiles and always has his child on his mind, they are his most precious pearl, and anything bad that would happen to them would utterly break his fragile heart.
He is always weary of something bad to happen, be it bullying, or just traumatic nightmares. He hates the thought of it happening to his child, so he may come a tad bit overbearing.
Now, his child and him goes to land often, mostly to manage Azul’s restaurant, so it was a treat for both of them. Idia also drops in to meet up with his old pal, so he leaves his child with Idia’s as well to bond over a phone or tablet. Those hangouts become a regular thing!
Azul’s child always hangs out with Idia’s kid, they click instantly, so Azul’s child is more techy and more land dweller than their own father.
So most of the child’s slang and upbringing was on land. Now that is established, you can tell why they most like Halloween.
This year, they [Azul’s child] want to dress up and act all spooky to attract any of their age or just to vibe with others. And they decided, alongside Idia’s kid, he wants to partner cosplay as the murdered crewmate from the hit game they played together.
They pitch the idea to Azul, which made him gawk and question sheepishly if they are in need of medical help or anything. He got so scared that they want to be murdered, to which confused the child and asked why is their costume choice weird?
Azul decides to just go with it, he had to be reassured many times that they are mentally okay and will be for a long time. He hopes for the best, and smiles softly at their giddy look on the costume approval
kalim al-asim
Kalim is probably the bigger child between his and his child. They compete on who is more childish
But he is s responsible enough to take care of his child, Jamil and his family members can see that. Kalim matured but you can still see the sweet Kalim Al-Asim of Night Raven College.
In all honesty, his child loves Halloween just as much as he does! So the Land of Hot Sands gets a huge Halloween costume party for a whole week due to his child's enthusiasm for it!
The costume party is grand and always has laughter, and it also has festive beats and treats to enjoy.
Every year, his child has a different costume that is their choice and their father is always happy to commission a nice costume for them.
Unlike their father, they always have been up to date with the internet and trends. From Magicam to games, they know it all!
Now, the party was fast approaching, all the preparation was there, and Kalim was now just easing in after a few more touches. All he need is the costume for both him and his child.
He was about to ask when said child went booming to the doors, a wild and cute smile on their face. Kalim chuckled and asked if they was something they want.
"Father! I want to be the Murdered Crewmate this Halloween!"
Cue his tears, he was scared on why his child wanted to be murdered and pawed their face to see if they were okay and emotionally well.
It took a lot of hours to calm him down and warm up to the idea of their costumes
vil schoenheit
Now, Vil's child is a tad bit sweeter and more approachable than their own father. They carry his features and some traits, but they differ a lot.
At a young age, he was forced to hide from the world a lot, considering their father wanted them to have a nice and normal childhood.
However, the secret got out and it was soon known to the entire world that Vil Schoenheit has a kid, and a wonderful one at that.
Vil's child is really updated on the media, thanks to their father's influence, but their time on it was restricted a lot.
However, they do have ample time to test the waters, and see what is trending or not!
What caught their eyes was the wonderful game that their favorite streamers played! It was quirky, and fun, so they had check it out and play.
In summary, it was a wonderful experience, so they had to tell their sweet papa!
Vil is ecstatic to hear his sweet kid go and squeal to him, telling him that... They want to be murdered?!
He nearly fainted, and ask worriedly on what on Earth were they talking about. In the end, the social media time was even more strict!
Also, he didn't approve of the costume, but he did approve of the alive and well crewmate.
idia shroud
Idia is surprisingly good with his kid, he thought he would fail as a dad but he proved himself wrong. His child was not like him, but that makes him smile, it means they are confident and willing to be themselves.
Their kid always mingles and always hangs out with Ortho, so he always is monitored. Idia also is shocked to see how confident they are, he is sure proud that they are the young master of the house.
Though, their kid loves the outdoors, nothing beats good old pa and his codes and video games.
Because of this, the worldwide famous game : Among Us, was introduced to them during their browsing! It was good bonding time.
Their kid won't admit this, but they love cosplaying. From dad's favorite anime, to their favorite cartoon games— he loved all the dynamic.
Now, because of this, his family decided to hold a costume ball (to introduce Idia's kid as the young master), and while Idia hates parties— he had to introduce his pride and joy.
So, he asked his son what would they like for their costume. He has the money to make it in short time, and he also just wants to partner up with his kid.
"Papa! I want to be the Murdered Crewmate!"
Idia laughs and pat their head, of course they would want to be one of the little gremlins from that game.
The murdered one was a classic, so why not? They live in the Underworld! They can pull this off.
malleus draconia
He is good with kids, after all, he had Silver to take care of before. So, it wasn't a surprise that his child is wonderful and well rounded.
Malleus' child is his heir, so they are fairly sheltered and kept in the palace a lot, due to this; their time is fairly well spent on technology or lessons.
Malleus tries to bond with his heir, and tries hard to not pressure them on their studies as heir or the events that requires their presence. All he wants is them to be happy.
Because of this, he got exposed to the game Among Us. Malleus sucks at the game, but he adores the squeals, the giggles and groans of defeat when they play together.
Malleus is always lost on the game, so it was an absolute laugh to all of them.
One day, Malleus and his retainers asked that they should hold a festive season in the kingdom, just like what they did during NRC days. All were ecstatic, especially Malleus' child!
The child wanted a costume party, so a costume party it was! As Malleus and his child plan the party, a royal tailor asked them what is their costumes and plans.
The child squealed and beamed, saying they want the Murdered Crewmate costume. The tailor, who was fairly young and updated, nodded and took notes. While Malleus stood there, horrified that his kid wants to be murdered.
The kid giggled and hugged their tall father, saying that "I don't wanna die, Papa! Remember the game we played? It's that!"
Cue relief and embarrassed face Malleus, he just nearly died of a heart attack because of the rascal.
He picked them up and smiled at their loud and cute giggles.

Continuing our lists of prompts by episode...
If anything sparks your interest, be sure to head over to AO3 and claim it!
Patrick wakes up early on the morning of November 1st to find that David isn't in bed. Is that Mariah Carey he's hearing? Obviously confused, he stumbles downstairs to find David fully decorating for Christmas. "Time is meaningless, Patrick. It's a made up concept. Halloween is over. It's Christmas." Will Patrick talk David off the Christmas ledge or does he grab some garland and help? Set in a Pandemic/Quarantine universe.
Now that David has become immune to Patrick’s monthaversary shenanigans, Patrick has decided to find a new way to lovingly and tolling-ly appreciate his husband. As the themes grow increasingly strange, David tries to figure out what is going on. https://nationaldaycalendar.com
Could be Happy Holidays or The Fight depending on how you spin it. Maybe Happy Holidays with a little conflict peppered in. Patrick and David try to navigate through their first Christmas as a married couple. Patrick's parents want them to visit them for the holidays. Moria and Johnny want them to visit them. And Stevie and Alexis want them to spend them in Schitts Creek. How will they make it work and keep everyone happy? What about what they want? Doesn't that matter too?
One of them wins two free tickets for a cruise for Valentine's Day, except it turns out that it's actually a singles cruise. They decide to run with it anyway and lean into the singles cruise fun: coming up with ridiculous fake names and identities, catching each other's eye across the bar, spending the night flirting as if it's the first time and they haven't been married for [redacted] years already.
At their new home in LA, Johnny and Moira throw a classic, lavish Rose family Christmas party. Who do they invite? Does Moira still break out the number? How does the whole thing compare to the parties they used to throw before Schitt's Creek?
As the newest member of Town Council, Patrick gets just drunk enough on his power to establish a new municipal holiday designed to make David swoon and/or cringe. Maybe it’s a town clause that says every council person gets to name a holiday. Maybe he’s just determined to force it through. Maybe he undertakes a long, tedious charm offensive to gather votes. Mariah Carey Appreciation Day is just a suggestion. Feel free to make up your own silly day. Major bonus points for involving Ronnie as either an obstacle or an unlikely ally.
Twyla wants to do the whole cliche NYE in Times Square deal, complete with a kiss at midnight.
It's the Canada Day long weekend, and Patrick is very excited to host a barbecue on the massive front lawn of their new house. Is David excited about planning a themed party? Not excited about the party at all but in it for the food? Happy to welcome the people he loves in the town into his home? Anxiously putting "do not sit" and "no unauthorized access" signs up everywhere?
Twyla visits Alexis for Halloween, and is stunned by Alexis' Halloween costume. Do they still make it to the Halloween party? (Your choice whether they're in an established relationship, 'just friends,' or anywhere in between.)
This year is David and Patrick's 1st anniversary (paper), Tennessee and the cone farm guy Moonshine's 3rd anniversary (leather), Bob and Gwen's second 5th anniversary (wood), Roland and Jocelyn's 30th anniversary (pearls), Clint and Marcy's 35th anniversary (coral), and Johnny and Moira's 40th anniversary (ruby). How do they celebrate? What gifts do they give each other?
Alexis happens to be in town for a visit (or the boys happen to be visiting her), and someone realizes that it's National Siblings Day. I'd love to see Patrick & Alexis bonding time! Maybe David joins them, or maybe he thinks it's dumb and they spend the day with just the two of them.
Patrick decides once a month to dedicate a meal to an item that's celebrating its National Food Day. Maybe it is an ingredient he searches to add to a favorite recipe, something they make together completely from scratch, or they special order a gourmet item as a treat. Here are some ideas.
There’s also a generic, catch-all prompt for each episode, so if you have ideas about holidays, birthdays, or anniversaries that don’t fit here, you can claim the generic prompt and get creating!

Ladies of Burlesque Halloween Edition
Did Moscow’s most elegant burlesque show sizzle or sparkle in its first Halloween edition?
Follow me, and I shall tell you…
Now and forever,
~The Eternal Disclaimer~
It is hereby declared that this little nook of the world wide web shall be devoted to the praise & critique of the art of burlesque, specifically in Russia.
Let it also be known that I am first and foremost a benevolent force, and every single criticism is documented solely for the purpose of evolution, growth and inspiration, darling.
Never forget - it is fantastic that the burlesque scene in Russia has grown so much in the last few years. Brava, ladies! As a fact and a statement, it is absolutely fabulous.
However, I volunteer to wear the heavy crown of expertise, having seen many a show in many a place, and having a keen eye for detail and a heart hungry for that wow factor. I always come with an open heart, am quite easily entertained, and know how hard the craft is - I can overlook many a fault when there’s stage presence, charisma and that fire of passion. Oh, and self-irony.
All is sickly without self-irony.
Now, onwards! To fabulousness!
Falling into the familiar arms of Cafe Michel, Ladies of Burlesque is back with a Halloween twist - still sans Pavlova, regrettably.
Before we go any further, dearest reader, allow me to ask you a question:
What is Halloween?
That’s a thought that every Halloween event organiser should start with when planning such an experience. Is it a mystical Samhain ritual? A fun-filled costume party? A celebration of all things spooky?
Which route are you taking - the solemn occult? Silliness & ease? Pop culture parody? Classic horror? Proper nightmare?
As evident from the non-existent amalgamating style, this conversation never happened at the production meeting. Or if it did, it simply didn’t show.
Having already reviewed Michel, I saw nothing new. No improvements - but no worsening, either. What’s worse than worsening, though, is the lack of atmosphere. It was not created with decor, music or anything else.
The crowd was not really dressed for the occasion - perhaps because the occasion was never properly described and explained. The rules of the game were not set.
Pity. Could’ve been tremendous. The line-up is quite a thrill, darling.
This time we had two exciting guests from Saint Petersburg!
Thank you, Haunted Cathouse, for sending us something truly thrilling!
Natali Pashkof, the self-proclaimed enfant terrible of Russian Burlesque fully lived up to the title. Her Saw number was a dream - style-wise, impeccable. This is what I call a Halloween act! Flawless costume. The licking of the saw - rousingly revolting. The Widow act wasn’t as stunning as Saw, but still of decent quality. Satisfying eye contact with the audience. I wish we could’ve seen her “The Ring” act as well.
And the mystifying Vurtica! Living our Snow White Evil Queen fantasy, darling! Perhaps the most layered and strategic costume of the night. And the blood-soaked heart-shaped sponge is sheer, pure genius. The Earthy Witch was equally tempting - fantastic audience participation, magnificent costume, so well thought through. Dare I say, a sexy cauldron?…Very smart juxtaposition of the heaviness of the music and the air of the movements. I’ll be keeping an eye on this one!
Shall we move on to our familiar Moscow/Novosibirsk (ruby red) stars?
The night opened with Marie Weinberg, and I must say, improvement is evident. She is gaining the confidence that ignites her charm. And I can forgive the (again) ill-fitting dress and meowing of the opening act - because her second entrance was a dream. Transforming from a dark vampire into an angelic temptress, she hid behind a boa of intriguing proportions - to reveal stunning diamanté details that truly showed off her hypnotising tattoos. And her hairdo is impeccable.
Still, can’t say that the singing is of a level that I find entertaining or enjoyable, but perhaps in time all will come.
Allow me to summon my witchy powers and properly curse the DJ. He did not fail to disappoint with lost cues, lack of volume awareness and overall buffoonery. Whoever hired him should rethink their choices. Or, if it was a last-minute arrangement, it goes without saying that it should never be so. If the organisers do not understand how an idiotically wrong cue can mess up the mood and the act, why are they in a position of power?
A very similar situation happened at their shows several times before.
Ladies! Invest in a smart, sensitive, intuitive - or at least, attentive - sound gentleman. It’ll change your lives.
So a few days ago, we, the public, were offered an explanation of the difference between Bar Burlesque and the big dinner shows (God bless social media). One of the points was that it’s a taster session - to see if you might enjoy the big show.
So in theory, people who came to see the latest Bar Burlesque might’ve been in the audience for this show. That means that they saw Tamasinushka’s poster-gracing “Queen of the Forest” (we all know it’s Little Red Riding Hood, but alright) twice.
We also saw The Moon…that was on the same stage last time.
I’m afraid to say the energy was the same - lacking. Sometimes the moves were so painfully slow, you couldn’t help but wonder if it’s a tactic to make the acts longer and attempt to hide the missing intricacy of the costumes. Tamasinushka is a graceful, mesmerising eyeful, and the pearl costume was precious - but still, somewhat lacklustre in comparison to some of the other acts. Perhaps preparations for the Russian Burlesque Festival are getting the best of her.
What do you expect me to say about Katerina Sahara? Consistently flawless. She brought her winged friends with her - the exotic twerking emerald bird and the dazzling dragon. Both were impeccable. What else is there to say? True professionalism. I was especially thrilled by all the bird of paradise improvising - the lady who’s bosom was caressed seemed to be quite exhilarated by the experience. The Sugar Factory/ Twerk Bakery star kept the crowd on their toes as they craved every next move.
One of her main talents is measure. Balance. The strategy of her undressing is always faultlessly thought through.
Blanche de Moscu, you stunner. Bringing the Fire Priestess and The Admiral, she shined like she tends to do - with glorious abandon. The Fire costume got a gentle upgrade, and The Admiral stunned and entertained. To my taste, it is one of the best burlesque acts in Russia. A flawless mix of sexuality and sensuality, masculine and feminine, humour and drop-dead army seriousness. And the costume, my god, the costume!…Nostalgic in the best possible way. Nostalgic in the most modern way. She hypnotised and entertained, seduced and enthralled. A wonder of a performer!
And that glitter trick - so small, yet so powerful.
Ellisha Fox brought the Poodle act that we saw at the Real Variety Show a few months back. Even though I understand and admire the sentiment behind the act, I stand my ground - the music doesn’t fit the mood of the piece at all, and it’s not quite theatre, not quite burlesque, and remains one of most undercooked acts of our superstar.
However, Ellisha’s undercooked is still a knockout. What a gem.
The Phoenix was an exact repetition of what we saw at the last LoB show. Still more focused on the movements than anything else.
Side note - wondering why Ellisha’s appearance at Alice Shpiller’s Halloween extravaganza was so abruptly cancelled. I hope it had nothing to do with inner-burly webs and whispers, for that just ruins the party for everyone, doesn’t it, darling? Boylesque should be seen and celebrated as much as possible, and putting a seal on Ellisha as if he’s a branded asset will do no good - not for the culture in general nor the reputation of the dominating company.
Helen the Stage Bunny - yes, bunny this time! - looked absolutely gorgeous. That girl is a treasure - she’s doing a job that requires maximum attention and concentration with elegance, ease and poise, despite being the bait for every single tasteless hostess joke.
Vanilla Absolut - oh how I love a drag queen! The name is stunning, and so is the gal. She blessed us with a sensational atheist/satanist lipsync to “Personal Jesus” by Marilyn Manson (of course). Strutting her stuff in shockingly high heels, she expertly mingled with the crowd, jumped, bended in all directions and made the space her own.
The same lucky lady who got touched by Sahara got to lick the Bible! Some girls have all the luck…
Tanya Konfetki. Must I comment?
For the sake of all I believe in, yes.
She looked beautiful. So refreshing to see her well-dressed, and the head-piece was beguiling.
Still, there was no flow to her hosting.
The ending was abrupt, the humour lacked elegance, and overall it was quite…dull. At times she seemed lost before the crowd, and endless self-comparisons to Pavlova didn’t do anything for her. It’s easy to see how much she wants to be the hostess (which is probably the domineering reason why she’s on that stage), but the skills, the charm and the ease are just not there. Perhaps it will come in time. Perhaps not.
The virtual appearance of Anja Pavlova was an unexpected treat.
VERDICT
Still the most poised burlesque show in Moscow (and most likely in Russia), but then again, there’s hardly any competition.
Evolution is a process that occurs naturally, and I hope that the Ladies will steer in a glorious direction. They have everything for it.
Is St Petersburg the Russian capital of NeoBurlesque?
Moscow is yet to learn how to do justice to the harrowing beauty of Halloween.
~~~
The next Bar Burlesque is on the 15th of November - nearly sold-out. Next big dinner show is December 7-8th.
Care for a ticket, darling?
April Activities 2020
I’m really hoping that May is a more uplifting month than the last two months combined, I need it to be. We’re still staying at home and doing the best we can, but there have been so many things cancelled lately and I really just want to look forward to something. Here’s what went down this month.
I watched the first season of Dave on FX and wow. Just wow. It’s such a good show and I’m so glad I listened to my brother Robbie and watched it. Ten episodes. Each better than the last.
I also watched the new Mindy Kaling creation on Netflix, Never Have I Ever, and it was as good as I hoped it would be and more. Again, there are only ten episodes and I wish there were more. Also, the soundtrack is killer, see for yourself, bud.
I made this banana cake with coffee cream cheese frosting and it was heavenly.
If you are looking for an uncomplicated curry recipe to make, this is the perfect one (I used green beans instead of snap peas and it was still great).
My mom sent me this song for obvious reasons and now I can’t stop playing it.
So excited to hear that Shrill got confirmed for another season! Perfect show.
Do you know about Pluto? It’s a crazy good streaming platform and dare I say, better than Netflix (as long as you don’t care about the occasional ad).
You can see my favourite tweets of the month over here.
Tip: never get tomato sauce in a can. Tastes so tinny! Did everyone else already know this?
I tried Hal’s New York Seltzer water in the COLA flavour and HOLY CHRIST. Tastes exactly like Coke. It’s fucking wild. Shoulda bought ten of them but when I went back they were all gone. Like a mirage.
Is it abnormal to share a photo of a gorgeous woman? ‘Cause I saw this photo of Lili Reinhart (from Riverdale) and my jaw dropped, so gorgeous.
I finally finished this season of Curb and the last two episodes were probably the best. There were definitely cringey parts in a few episodes this season, but overall it was pretty good. I really think Larry David is probably just an asshole who happens to be funny sometimes, just my impression.
I’ve been burned so many times, but I’m never buying Barilla pasta again. Their no-boil lasagna sheets no-joke look like recycled sandpaper and taste like ASS. Never again. Also, I think I’m against no-boil lasagna sheets. Just boil some sheets! What’s the big deal! You’re not busy!
And speaking of lasagna, I’ve made this mushroom spinach lasagna three times this month and it’s heavenly. The only thing I do differently is that I use a food processor to grind up the mushrooms so they’re almost like a paste. Tastes incredible. It tastes better when it’s reheated the next day, too. Lasagna lunch? Get out of here, best day of the week.
These blueberry breakfast cookies are now officially in the recipe rotation since I’m about to make them for the third time. They taste better after being chilled, in my opinion. And not to be pornographic, but a blueberry bursting in your mouth? Yes, please.
I just tried this bath soak and it’s made me want to create a bath basket for myself, which is basically just a basket full of bath shit like Epsom salts, bath oils, bubble bath, bath bombs, etc. Future me is gonna be relaxed as fuck.
Love reading what people want to eat out when life is back on again. If you don’t think I already have a list going, THINK AGAIN. I’ll post it when better days are near.
We’ve entered the part of quarantine where Buzzfeed listicles are making me laugh. (Specifically #2 and #6.)
I made this cauliflower bolognese and look, it was good but I’ll never make it again because it took WAY too long for what you’re ultimately getting. It’s not a bolognese. Nothing meatless should be allowed to be called a bolognese, it’s unjust.
I watched The Phantom of the Opera for the 11th (??) time when it streamed for free a few weeks ago and it was, as always, magical. I maintain that Colm Wilkinson was the very best phantom there ever was. (P.S. I will always love these types of videos.)
Still in love with this egg salad recipe.
I didn’t know it was possible to do anything with stale bread other than make them into breadcrumbs or croutons: How to Revive Stale Bread
Can’t stop making these wildly easy smashed potatoes. When I’m feeling real fancy, I’ll make the sauce from this baked pickles recipe for dipping.
Yes, I have three books in my pile to be read right now, but I’m still really excited for this one. Already pre-ordered.
Really good article: Why Life During A Pandemic Feels So Surreal
Some of these quarantine tips about staying in touch with friends are actually good, not all but some.
I did a Zoom call with my whole family and we played games on jackbox.tv and it was actually really fun. Might become a standing Sunday morning activity.
When I’m not crying or drinking or taking a bath, I like to do beauty masks. But here’s the thing: I think all hair masks are a scam. How can you tell that they’ve DONE anything to your hair? Don’t you think that some charlatan could easily just put some basic-ass conditioner into a tiny disposable package and label it as some hair rejuvenating miracle? And while we’re here, it’s 100% likely that face masks are bullshit too. We’re being bamboozled and at this point I can’t even care about it because it’s genius. I’ll keep buying them and they’ll continue to do nothing.
Nathan started a Patreon! Check it!
This photo (below) from this nurse’s personal account of what’s going on right now is so good.
I tried a sample of Dr. Dennis Gross’s face serum and whoa. I love the idea of using a serum right after washing your face, so I just bought a reward-sized sample of this Drunk Elephant serum (it’s on its way) that’ll hopefully feel somewhat similar.
Loved the peachy smell of this Peter Roth cleanser from a sample I got.
I rewatched some of Master of None and it remains great.
Other still-great things that I also rewatched: Arlington Road & House of Sand and Fog.
I made the Dalgona coffee that everyone’s been making, but I didn’t put it on top of milk (that sounded gross). I put it on top of iced coffee for, like, some kind of super coffee. It was really good. I was jacked for hours. (And I haven’t tried it, but this Dalgona frosted chocolate cake looks nuts.)
Obviously loved hearing the Queen’s address.
I’ve been on almost all of Nathan’s podcasts this month, so just go on over there if you care (there are video clips too). Personal favourite is the bug mug one.
Little girl plays my favourite song.
I rewatched most of Community and I truly forgot what a great show that was. The first three seasons, I mean. MAYBE four. Best episodes: the missing pen one, the chaos theory one, love the Halloween ones, and the video game one is great. I will continue to hate musical episodes of any show, why do they do it? Who is it for? I’ve never heard one person say that they loved when a regular show did a musical episode. END THIS NONSENSE.
So I attempted to make the Asiago Chicken Bowtie Pasta from Jack Astor’s from this copycat recipe, and even though it reeeeally doesn’t taste the same, it’s still a decent recipe. It also tastes way better reheated the next day.
I made these chocolate chip cookies and they were very good. Not a super complicated recipe either, which is always a plus.
Tip: you shouldn’t just plop shampoo on the top of your head and then start rubbing it in (this leads to flat hair). You should rub it in right above the top of your neck and then work it in from there, it gets way more lathered up quicker this way. Please try it for yourself.
I finally tried the Canyon Creek caesar salad dressing recipe that I got from a waiter there years ago AND IT IS PERFECT. I feel weird posting it publicly, but if you love that salad and want to make it at home, I’ll absolutely send it to you if you ask.
Made this halloumi hummus bowl and it was really, really good. Love pearled couscous, love grilled halloumi.
Nathan and I watched Monkey Shine on Pluto and holy shit what a fun movie. Brief plot: It’s about a young athlete who becomes a paralyzed quadriplegic, and develops a bond with an intelligent service monkey named "Ella" who becomes homicidal after she is injected with an experimental serum of human brain tissue. HOW COULD THIS NOT BE AMAZING? It’s not going to sound funny now, but there’s this montage of the monkey doing all sorts of things for the man and then she puts this burrito-thing in the machine holder for him to eat and Nathan said something like, “Here… comes… PITA!” like she was gonna launch it to his mouth and I fucking died laughing. Truly just a fun movie.
Made these lemon ricotta cookies that were very light and lovely.
Some things that I’d like to do this month: make this burrata mushroom lasagna, I’d love to try this caesar recipe, I intend to finally review last month’s Ipsy bag that I’ve been putting off forever for no good reason, and I’ll likely rewatch the old Cannonball Run movies because I really want to. BIG PLANS.
Also, don’t forget about Mother’s Day on the 10th. Just a reminder. If you’ve got any interest in reading last month’s roundup, you can see what went down in March over here.
Why K-Pop Star Chung Ha Washes Her Face Three Times Every Night
New Post has been published on http://www.whatsupkpop.com/why-k-pop-star-chung-ha-washes-her-face-three-times-every-night/
Why K-Pop Star Chung Ha Washes Her Face Three Times Every Night
Why K-Pop Star Chung Ha Washes Her Face Three Times Every Night
Raise your hand if you’re ready for Chung Ha to have a goth concept. The 22-year-old Korean pop singer has covered the bases for cute and colorful looks since debuting with disbanded girl group I.O.I in 2016. Now that she’s been a soloist for a good year and a half, imagine her swiping on black lipstick before taking the stage.
Chung Ha doesn’t hate the idea when I suggest it during a recent phone interview. “Maybe for Halloween,” she tells me as she sits backstage before a performance in Seoul. “One day, I would love to try it.” She even brings up trying out a midnight blue lipstick because she loves dark lip colors, so I swear I’m not the only one who is putting this concept into the universe for Chung Ha.
At the moment, Chung Ha is focusing on the concept for her newest mini-album Blooming Blue, though. True to the season, the music video for its title song “Love U” radiates summer vibes, including but not limited to, Chung Ha’s beachy blonde-streaked brown hair and popsicle-stained lips. “[The concept] might remind you of a pool party,” Chung Ha says. I dare you to watch the music video and not want to slip on your bathing suit.
Experimenting With Beauty Trends
Some of this summer’s most popular beauty trends also dominate Blooming Blue’s concept. I have to admit that I screamed internally when I scrolled past a photo Chung Ha posted on Instagram to tease the album of her face speckled with pearls in the formation of freckles. It’s exactly the kind of experimental look that gets me excited about covering K-pop for Allure.
For another promo shot, half of Chung Ha’s hair was tied up into two mini buns, her cheeks were swept with a lemon-yellow blush, and her lids were covered in a shimmery wash of bubblegum pink. Bold eye shadow, in particular, has been incorporated into makeup as she makes the rounds on South Korea’s popular music shows to promote “Love U.” Like many K-pop stars, Chung Ha consistently has the same makeup for every performance. For this comeback, colorful underliner is the focal point of her makeup. “I put on different colored eye shadows on my [lower lids],” she says of her everyday look. Today, she notes that it’s purple, but she’s also done baby blue and fuchsia.
My favorite part of the whole look is the tiny star-shaped rhinestones placed right below Chung Ha’s tear ducts. While promoting her last title song “Rollercoaster,” Chung Ha points out that she had circular ones on the middle of her lower lids. For her goth concept, she can do tiny half moons on the outer corners of her eyes — just saying.
Because Chung Ha seems so on top of beauty trends, I ask her if there are any happening in Korea that haven’t made their way to the U.S. yet. “I’m not sure because we can share everything on YouTube,” she says. True. That’s how she recently found out about cryotherapy. “I haven’t tried it before, but I really want to,” she says. Maybe we should get cryofacials while we’re in Los Angeles for KCON LA? (I’m only half-kidding.)
The Impact of “Rollercoaster”on Chung Ha’s Look Throughout our interview, Chung Ha repeatedly refers back to “Rollercoaster.” Its bright concept truly helped solidify and define Chung Ha’s aesthetic in the K-pop world. Not only was has it been her favorite concept so far, but it’s also one that she says fits her personal style best. The glow-in-the-dark makeup was fun, but Chung Ha still isn’t over the amount of glitter involved. I thought I loved glitter, but Chung Ha lives for it. She brings it up so many times I start to wonder if it runs through her veins.
With copious amounts of sparkle on her eyes, outfits, and nails for the music video, the concept made Chung Ha feel more comfortable than, say, the cutesy, ice cream-themed concept I.O.I had for its final album. (She names this as the hardest concept for her to pull off.) While in the makeup chair for “Rollercoaster,” “I gave a lot of suggestions, like, let’s do glitter here, let’s do glitter there,” she says. “I love glitter so much.”
Turns out, giving input on her hair and makeup concepts is commonplace for Chung Ha. But that doesn’t mean she doesn’t like input from others either. “I also love listening to other people’s advice, so I could try new stuff like the freckles,” she adds.
Chung Ha does have thoughts on her next concept, though. Surprisingly, the look she has is mind is completely opposite to her favorite look. “For my next concept, I’d like to go very matte with more of a nude tone,” she says. “And my hair not colorful, just black or maybe brown — really minimal.”
Chung Ha’s Go-To Skin-Care Routine Despite being experimental with her hair and makeup in her professional life, Chung Ha rarely tries out new looks when she’s not working. “Because I wear makeup all the time when I’m on schedule and on stage, I give my skin time to rest and breathe,” she explains. “I actually don’t put on makeup that much in my free time.”
Instead, Chung Ha concentrates on giving her skin some TLC with soothing sheet masks. “They’re comfortable and easy to dispose of,” she explains. Wash-off masks, on the other hand, aren’t her favorite because rinsing them off can be harsh on skin, and she’s all about gentle formulas.
Cleansing is also a key part of Chung Ha’s skin-care routine. “Even if you put so many good products on, there’s no use if your skin isn’t washed thoroughly,” she explains. If she’s wearing makeup, Chung Ha starts off with an eye makeup remover before embarking on a three-step process. An oil cleanser kicks things off by gently sweeping away any leftover makeup. (My favorite is the Banila Co Clean It Zero Original Cleansing Balm, in case you’re looking for a recommendation.) Then, she reaches for a foaming cleanser like the Neogen Real Cica Micellar Cleansing Foam.
Lastly, Chung Ha like to do what she calls “bubbling it out” with face wash that, well, bubbles. (She didn’t mention her go-to, but try the Belif Pore Cleaner Bubble Foam.) “That’s about it,” she finishes off the list, as if it isn’t an extensive cleansing regimen. I tell her some people just use a face wipe and call it a day, so I respect her washing her face three times. “Really?” she replies. “I thought I was really simple because I wear so much makeup.”
She thinks the rest of her routine was simple, too. Spoiler alert: It’s not. After cleansing comes her toner set. The first one is a cleansing toner. (Allure editors love the Acwell Licorice pH Balancing Cleansing Toner.) The second is a hydrating toner. Then, she smooths on an essence, a moisturizer, and a sleeping pack — in that order.
If you lost count of how many steps that is, Chung Ha’s skin-care routine adds up to nine steps. Occasionally, a tenth is incorporated. “If I would do another one, I would do eye cream,” she adds. “But I don’t usually do my eye cream. I forget.” Same. I’m glad K-pop stars forget to put on eye cream, too.
Cutie Top 10: Hoppechan!
⋆。°✩ Ta-da! ⋆。°✩
Here it is Cuties, my very first ever CUTIE TOP 10 list! Aren’t you excited?!
As you can see I’m in a better mood today and I’ve rid of all the stress and drama from last week. So here I am ready to make an ultra-fun post for everyone!
Or at least try 。(*^▽^*)ゞ
Okay, so if you’re new here or forgot, I’ve been planning to do Top 10 list topics for quite a while now. I’ve only done one, based on the Top 10 Items I’d Like From Kawaii Box, or something like that. If you click that bold text you can go check it out :3 Ah, I should mention- number 7 and 2 on the list we actually did get from a Kawaii Box sometime after I made it. I was so surprised.
For now, head under the cut for brand new images and my top 10 list of Hoppe!
Before I start, I counted the Hoppechan I own, and I have a total of 16! It took me probably twenty minutes or so to sort them out and determine which ones I was going to include- then probably another twenty due to lingering doubts and double-checking.
If I had 20 of them, I probably would have done a top 10 list, or maybe a Top 10 Hoppechan I didn’t like (if even possible!) to balance this one out.
In this post I will be counting down, so the Hoppechan who takes 1st place is my absolutely favorite of them all! I’ll also be providing a small bit of information with each one, what I like about them, etc.
10: MT. FUJI HOPPECHAN
To celebrate 2017, Hoppechan dressed up like Mt. Fuji to celebrate Hatsuhinode; a special new years event where people gather on various mountain tops to witness the first sun rise of the new year.
A simple, light blue Hoppechan representing the mountain, with cream on top in place of white top. A miniature red Hoppe was even included, colored red to resemble the bright shining sun, and there’s even a tiny mountain on top! Both Hoppechan are made from silicone, along with the cream. The mountain and tiny Hoppe’s bow is made from plastic, while they both have black gems for eyes, and gem cheeks. The larger Hoppe has pink cheeks, while the red one has white.
In the about 2 years that I was getting Hoppechan, I realized that I really liked the smaller sized Hoppechan. They were so cute, I couldn’t resist them. So while overlooking my collection, I was instantly drawn to this one. I know it might not seem like much, but the well thought out details were also pleasing to the eye.
9: TANABATA ANGEL HOPPECHAN
Inspired by the Magpie forming a bridge for the separated lovers Orihime and Hikoboshi, this Hoppechan takes flight for the holiday. It is recommended that the owners of this Hoppechan bring her along for July 7th, so that they can celebrate Tanabata and have their own wish come true; maybe even find true love. How dreamy~
This is another simple design, featuring a pale pink body and multicolored gem cheeks that alternate between light shades of pink and blue. She has a simple, glittery pair of white wings and an ultra-sparkly translucent star, giving her an angelic design.
As much as I enjoyed the elaborate looking Hoppechan, I also appreciated the simple and sweet looking ones like this. Pale pink is my favorite color, and I loved how her cheeks had a multicolored shine, her glittery wings and star just made this one all the more irresistible~
8: KAKIGORI HOPPECHAN
This slightly smaller than average Hoppechan is celebrating summer with a sunflower and some kakigori, or shaved ice. What makes this hoppechan special is that she GLOWS, and she came with three different “flavors“ of shaved ice: Ramune, Strawberry, and Melon- which are naturally Hoppechan’s favorites when she visits a summer festival.
This Hoppechan has a muted white body (made from glowing plastic) with basic eye and cheek gems. On her head is a plastic sunflower with a cute little translucent leaf charm. Her bowl is plastic and features a common design on most shaved ice cups. The shaved ice is clear silicone with a touch of color for that realistic ice effect.
I’m a strawberry girl, but my favorite popsicle/shaved ice/snow cones/etc have always been the blue ones. I’m not a huge summer season fan, but whenever I look at this Hoppechan, she reminds me of the fun times I’ll have anyway. Like going to all the fairs and festivals I look forward to, the shaved ice and sweets I’ll eat, the games I’ll play!
Yes, this Hoppechan does glow, if you were curious. Back when I reviewed it I tested it out under my desk. She glows a greenish color.
7. CHRISTMAS WREATH HOPPECHAN
Now this Hoppechan, I don’t have information on. She was the only one I couldn’t find the booklet for, but I do remember her being my second Christmas themed one. What makes this Hoppechan unique is that it’s also a PIN you can wear or attach to items.
This one has Hoppechan take a “back seat“ as the star- but that doesn’t mean she still won’t wear one✩ Hoppechan and the wreath are made out of silicone, while she has the same star from her Tanabata style. Three pearls, each one a unique color rest opposite of her, and on the top corner is a red polka-dot velvet bow. Hoppechan’s eyes are normal, while her small pink gem cheeks have a green shine in them.
Not only did I like the concept behind this one, but I love that it was also an accessory; it’d be perfect for any Hoppechan fans who wanted to bring her along.
6: Sakura Hoppechan
For the month of April, Hoppechan was preparing for Hanami, the cherry blossom viewing event. The inspiration behind her design is the water as petals land upon it. Be sure to take her with you when you go to visit the cherry trees!
(Admitting, I didn’t think to do that. We have some pink trees that she would have probably loved to have seen.)
Similar to the first Hoppechan on this list, this one has a very soft, baby blue body. What makes her unique is that rather than gem cheeks, she has pearls for an extra bit of elegance. On her head is a translucent pink sakura petal, along with a translucent pink and white flowers of different shapes and light glitter coating. The white flower has a tiny gem in the middle.
What I liked about this Hoppechan was her elegant and gentle design. As much as I love gems, I couldn’t resist her unique cheeks and her pretty decor. They go so well with her blue color but still stand out, bringing the eye straight to them.
5: HALLOWEEN HOPPECHAN
This was my second Hoppechan I ever received- and back then I thought she brought a lot to the party. Inspired by the Halloween elements she likes so much, this Hoppechan decked her ”hat” out with a jack-o-lantern, a big shiny star, a bat, and even some sweets in order to make it look like a Halloween Cupcake. She even spent the season decorating her shop for the holiday; she’s definitely a mood maker!
Making herself as Orange as a pumpkin, she has her normal gem eyes and cheeks. Her body and vibrant, unique purple cream/hat are silicone, while her decorations are all plastic.
To put it into words; this Hoppechan impressed me so much that I found it impossible to like the second Halloween inspired one we got- despite it being cute and sharing a few elements (it even came in a few different color options and had white gem cheeks!), but in comparison it looked so plain, I wasn’t interested. This is the only one I have that featured a different cream color, and I happen to like bats, as well as Halloween.
But, as much as I like this Hoppechan though, there is a reason why she isn’t closer to the #1 spot~
4: SWEET CAKE HOPPECHAN
As the Queen of Decoden Hoppechan has always dreamed of making delicious cakes and running a bakery (that’s also my dream x3 besides becoming an Idol- but that’s never going to happen). Here we have a bright, shinny gold serving tool with a delicious chocolate cake piece waiting to be served. On the very top is even a dollop of cream that looks like her! She was available in Chocolate cream, and Strawberry cream.
Or is it her playing a little joke?
This is an extremely elaborate Hoppechan composed of the gold utensil (and chain! The only time her chain changed color out of the ones I own!). The layered cake alternates between chocolate cream and cake, and on top are layers of chocolate and white cream decorated with a chocolate heart, a tiny gem heart, and a strawberry. The tiny pale pink Hoppechan has tiny gem eyes and cheeks, and wears a pink pearl flower-shaped ornament.
I admit, I was a tiny bit disappointed I didn’t get the strawberry cream one, but at the same time who could resist chocolate? Not only was I amazed to see Hoppechan that small, but I fell in love with the creative design inspiration behind this one. I had never seen anything like it! The detailing and quality put into the design blew me away- I’m also a sucker for realistic/detailed food looking things like the cake.
3: HISHIMOCHI HOPPECHAN
A girly and tiny Hoppechan charm focused on Hinamatsuri/Girls Day. Here, she sits on top of a Hishimochi, a special type of mochi that is only eaten on March 3rd to celebrate the health and happiness of all Japanese Girls.
Featuring the three layers of a Hishimochi, a pile of cream rests on the corner, adorned with three colorful pearls and a single pink flower. The tiny Hoppechan is lilac colored with a peach-pink flower. She has normal eyes and cheeks.
Besides the general elegant design behind this one, I essentially liked her for things I’ve already mentioned. It’s all around small size is just precious, and it looks so deliciously cute with it’s sweet pastels~
2: CHRISTMAS HOPPECHAN
Hoppechan is all decorated for Christmas this year. She’s tended to the tree and got ready for her approaching date. She loves Christmas due to its lovely cake designs- and why wouldn’t she? She’s cream!
The inspiration behind this Hoppechan was not only a yummy looking cupcake, but the fresh, fallen, fluffy snow. The base is brown and made from plastic, along with her colorful tree, present, and translucent red bow. Her eyes are normal, while her pink cheeks are brightened considerably and have a colorful shine to accent the pearls and gems lining the glittering, translucent cream piled beneath her. A gem adorns her bow.
Honestly for a long time, I always though this Hoppechan was my favorite. I mean look at her! She’s super glittery and shiny! Not only that but the creative design and inspiration- if you ask me, this Hoppechan was made to spoil her beloved fans!
We’ve got one more now Cuties, are you ready to see my most Favorite Hoppechan?!
1: NEKO HOPPECHAN
As a fan of Cosplay and all things cats, Hoppechan was delighted to bust out her several pairs of nekomimi (cat ears) for her shop. She also adores Hello Kitty and did a collaboration with her in the form of various merchandise to celebrate her 40th anniversary. Squishy cats are her favorite, because they’re like her.
Yes, here we are! Neko Hoppechan is my most favorite! Is that any surprise from a cat lover? But that isn’t my only reason, just look at her pink kitty parts, she even has a TAIL (and a bow on it but you can’t see it here), and a heart on her translucent glittery bow. She was made from several things I love!
She was also my very first Hoppechan, so she’s always been special to me.
Alright Cuties, I hope you enjoyed this kinda long dedication to Hoppechan! I love her so much, I really wish I could collect more. Maybe some day I’ll find a way to, and if I do I’ll be sure to show them off or make a brand new Top 10 featuring different Hoppechan. In a way, this topic brought me some closure, so while I still wish Hoppechan was included in the box, I’m more understanding of their decision now.
Meanwhile, I have at least 6 or so other ideas for Top 10 lists planned, but I’ll probably spread them out between Reviews and Box blogs. Tomorrow/later I plan on getting the next Review up, and on Wednesday or Thursday I’ll be posting my first “Crate Update/News” topic!
Until next time, stay Squishy Cute!
Challenges
Color Challenge For this year’s color challenge we are jumping to the opposite side of the color wheel all the way over to Lilac. This beautiful shade of purple is named after the flower, which is known for its enchanting fragrance. Lilac represents peace, tranquility, and elegance. This color also suggests something special and unique, and we can’t to see the one-of-a-kind creations you come up with! Draw inspiration from these characteristics and incorporate this lovely, feminine hue into your cards in any way you like. Send us your submissions by February 1st, 2017 for possible inclusion in our July/August/September 2017 Issue. Don’t forget to include stamping!
Deadline: February 1st
Frightful & Delightful Double, double stamping and trouble; embossing guns burn and inkpads bubble! Our annual Frightful & Delightful Challenge, the most popular challenge of all, is back and we’re dying to see your submissions. Each year we receive amazingly spooky Halloween art that defies the imagination and we know this year will be no different. Dust the cobwebs off your Halloween-themed stamps — be they bats, ghosts, zombies, or monsters — and get ready to create some hocus-pocus! Remember to include rubber stamping on your projects, and please send them to us by February 1st, 2017 for possible inclusion in our July/August/September 2017 Issue. Deadline: February 1st
Tempting Template We would like to invite you to join in the stamping fun and send in your own template ideas! Please include the proposed pattern for your template as well as a sample card using your template. If your template is selected, you will receive a complimentary issue of The Stampers’ Sampler and the joy of seeing how other talented stampers build upon your original concept. For a better idea of what we’re looking for, click here to view our past templates online.
Deadline: February 1st
A Different Point of View A single stamp has endless options. Part of the joy of rubber stamping is the number of ways one stamp can be used. We are always looking for submissions for A Different Point of View. Take a stamp that catches your eye, and create several different cards using that image or a portion thereof. Really challenge yourself to view the image in new ways, and push the boundaries of a single stamp. Deadline: February 1st
A Call for Articles We are always looking for new and innovative stamping articles. If you’re interested in submitting an idea for an upcoming issue of The Stampers’ Sampler, we would love to see it. Just send us 5 – 10 cards that demonstrate the same theme, a new stamping technique, a unique usage of an unexpected or interesting material, or an exciting project. Just make sure it has stamping on it! Deadline: February 1st
Are you The Stampers’ Sampler’s Next Guest Artist? Since The Stampers’ Sampler was first introduced 20 years ago, this publication has featured many Guest Artists. This department is dedicated to artists (many who began as loyal readers) who capture The Stampers’ Sampler style — original greeting card creations that incorporate rubber stamping into the design. If you are a dedicated stamper, this is your chance to show off what makes your talent unique, whether you have a signature inking technique, an anything-but-ordinary style or a knack for layout designs. We would like to see new techniques, ones that are contemporary and one-of-a-kind, and vast themes. If you would like to audition to be a Guest Artist, we ask for the following:
A minimum of 5 sets of 3 cards in each set (ideally, we would prefer 8 sets of cards in a similar theme), for a grand total of 15 – 24 cards.
The best way to become familiar with what makes our Guest Artists stand out is to take a peek through our publication. For each set, keep in line with a similar color palette or theme. We’re dedicated to showcasing the very best artists, and we would love to feature your talented creations for all our readers to see! Deadline: February 1st
Tips from Published Stamper Karen Seifert
I’ve been stamping for over 20 years, and have submitted A LOT of creations, and A LOT have NOT been published. I started way back when there were several other card-making, and stamping magazines, and before Take Ten.
The Stampers’ Sampler had a segment in every issue called Take Ten. It was so popular, they created the Take Ten magazine.
After all the submissions, and not getting published, I got discouraged and quit sending.
As I started getting closer to age 60, getting published was at the top of my bucket list, so I started submitting again, and in March 2014 I was published in The Stampers’ Sampler 20th Anniversary magazine. WHAT A RUSH!
That’s all it took, to get hooked. Now I’m a submitting stamping addict, but I don’t want an intervention. I still get a rush every time I receive my complimentary copy. (By the way…you don’t know if you’re published until you receive your comp copy. I have had some cards show up almost 2 years after submission…SURPRISE!)
What I’ve learned
Have you noticed in Take Ten and The Stampers’ Sampler, the cards shown on each page, coordinate, or blend? I send 3-5 cards that have the same theme and the colors compliment each other. Theme can be layout design, technique, or all cat-related, coffee theme, etc.
Both Take Ten and The Stampers’ Sampler have “ a Different Point of View” where you use one stamp to make several creations…I suggest submitting 4-5 cards or tags.
Both Take Ten and The Stampers’ Sampler have a Tempting Template in each issue. Use these for inspiration, and submit in different colors
Both Take Ten and The Stampers’ Sampler prefer stamped images, NOT digital.
When you submit make sure you have on the Back of each card:
Instructions
Products/Supplies used
Give your card a title
Have your name and email on each card
I also include another full sheet of all info on all cards, and all my contact info
Visit the links to see each magazine’s Calls and Challenges and IMPORTANT: Read the Submission Guidelines, and Tips for getting Published!
Some say, “Wow, you’ve been published a lot.“ Well, its because I submit a lot!
What’s on my bucket list now?
Being on the Cover, and being a Guest Artist
I hope you found this helpful, and encouraging. So submit, and Good Luck!
Thank you to Karen Seifert for providing such valuable insight into the submissions process.
