Hehe. @briandraws and @shygirl4991 because you two seemed interested in these goobers. You can ask me not to tag you anymore and that’s fine-
Still no idea what their ship name should be, so if anyone has any ideas, go ahead and feel free to share them! ^^
Gonna be writing a fic for these goobers eventually.
But yeah, Kris is taller than Donnie. In the show, he’s 5 ft 6 (from what I’ve found. My god, he’s shorter than Luigi-) and Kris is around 6 ft 1, and torments him for this relentlessly.
So, some more general info about this ship below the cut because these dorks and consuming my brain rn. I guess kinda spoilers for the fic?? IDK. It’s more a quick rundown of the plot. If you wanna read the fic I’m gonna write blind, then ignore it.
Kris used to be a Purple Dragon, but sort of switched sides shortly after they started working for Shredder. He sort of became an informant for the turtles, having struck a deal with them so that he could continue to keep the reputation of being a Purple Dragon without actually having to deal with the beat-downs the turtles would give them.
Kris is a year older than the turtles, Casey, and April.
Before they found out that he’s a part of the Purple Dragons, April ended up having a crush on him during her stint of time hating the turtles after her father was mutated. But Kris wasn’t into her and shut her down quick.
At some point, the Purple Dragons and Shredder find out about Kris betraying them and beats him up, threatening to hurt his family if he dares to double cross them again, which leads to him fighting the turtles.
Donnie is confused by all of this and knows something is up, so he heads to Kris’ apartment, where he finds out that he lives with his elderly grandpa and helps take care of his triplet younger siblings (Mark, Ethan, and Amy (If you get the reference you now platonically own my heart)) alongside his twin brother Manny. Donnie then promises Kris that he’ll help him, and Kris sort of brushes him off.
But eventually the foot do kidnap Kris’ family (who had no idea he was a Purple Dragon either), and the turtles jump in to help Kris rescue them, which is when Kris finally decides to quit the Purple Dragons for good and join the team. All of this takes place before the Kraang invasion of New York, so he and his siblings are there for season 3’s events, and Kris joins in for season 4’s events too because my boy is going to space. Manny doesn’t get involved much because he is not much of a fighter. Although he and Mikey do become friends who begin shipping Kris and Donnie together once they see how the two interact.
April is ecstatic over Kris joining the team, and Donnie is now unsure of how he feels about the whole situation because he’s still having his bi awakening, y’all.
But he does have some rivalry with Kris, similar to how he does with Casey, although it is very one-sided. Kris just goes along with it cuz he’s grown to love messing with him.
But after Kris shuts April down for the umpteenth time (yes, she goes after him like Donnie does with her because haha irony-), Donnie realizes that he isn’t really competition for April’s affections. But he still keeps doing what he’s doing and having this rivalry with him, even though April has been completely removed from the equation.
Haha, turns out he’s bi and has a thing for Kris and this realization sends our beloved Donatello SPIRALING.
And to my fellow TMNT 2012 fans… remember the Bigfoot episode?
Kris is absolutely seething with jealousy towards Bigfoot throughout that whole thing. My guy turns greener than all the turtles combined with jealousy. He’s actually the reason Bigfoot runs away because dude just snaps of her for daring to get so close to Donnie and keep bugging him like that.
He eventually confesses to this once the turtles tell him off, although he does say it’s because Bigfoot was “being creepy” towards his “friend” *cough* crush *cough* and that it made him uncomfortable to see Donnie uncomfortable.
And, Donnie may be a genius on paper, but he is dumber than a box of rocks with this shit because he completely misses all the signs that Kris is in love with him. Like… my guy a bit stoopid and I love him for it.
Not gonna spoil how they get together tho.
But as an official couple, they are unbearable. Kris will annoy Donnie while he is working. Donnie will drag Kris into his science stuff and ramble about it for hours. No, Kris will not understand a single word he said but will listen to the yapping anyway.
Kris also came up with a stupid human disguise that somehow worked so he and Donnie can go on dates in public, although they do frequent Murakami’s place for the obvious reasons (although it was strange when Kris first showed up there since he was sort of involved in that first fight but had ran the second he saw 4 giant turtles come in and beat up his… coworkers?? They definitely weren’t really friends. Bro was a part of the gang for survival purposes only)
They are insufferable when it comes to PDA after a while. It takes Donnie a bit to get used to it, since… first boyfriend and first relationship, but once he’s warmed up to it, he’s all for it. Hand holding, kissing, cuddling, they even started calling each other those cheesy pet names, but only in front of others. Like, Honey-Bun, Turtle-Pie, Schmoopikins, all of those.
Kris brews Donnie’s coffee and will drag his ass to bed if it kills him. He takes care of 3 9 year olds. He can handle a grown-ass (sort of…) turtle.
So… that’s all for now :3

TMNT 2012 AU that i have trapped in my head and i need to get OUT✨️
Time travel and apocalyptic future where the kraang is living it's best life
Leo, Raph and Donnie played with things they Shouldn't Have and ended lost in a mess of a New York, years in the future and things look Bad
Mikey stayed behind, very much scared and lost, like, they were just THERE and now they AREN'T
Years into the future, the turtles go to their home just to find it abandoned and destroyed and without Master Splinter or Mikey or ICK or anyone on sight
Begins a race to catch up with old friends and enemies, find out all the things that happened in the last years, and defeat the kraang once and for all.
Donnie is flabbergasted by the fact that April and Casey have a daughter
A DAUGHTER
Mikey, April and Casey are living their best lives being rebel leaders and parents of a little menace with powers (someone PLEASE help them)
Raph has someone that FINALLY matches his anger issues (he is not amused by this, he hates it actually)
The Trio has a List Of Incidents that had happened in the last years
Leo is Not Amused
Little Jones is Raph's Fan Number 1, he tries to doesn't hide how proud he is of that
'Yeah little Jones, i'm THAT awesome' 'that didn't happen, Raph' 'shut it, Don, we cool people are talking'
Donnie, Leo and Raph Do Not Like being treated like kids so suddenly, they are NINJAS, MIKEY, NINJAS
Nobody is treating these three teenagers like adults and they HATE IT
Mikey puts them in time out at one point. Leo had a crisis, Raph was so angry that he couldn't even speak and Donnie was in mourning. He had ONE little brother but not anymore. Now HE is the little brother. He didn't appreciated the privileges of being a Big Brother enough
They Don't Like the fact that Mikey is now older and they try to be Cool with it
(The pain goes away when Mikey gives him kraang tech later, he actually like being spoiled like this, a little)
They are not coping well, that's their LITTLE BROTHER, YOUR HONOUR.
He has no bussiness being a LEADER or a FATHER
Mikey is protective with his siblings
they look very small, OK? (Yes, Casey, we will ignore the fact that Donnie is still taller than Mikey, Don is barely taller)
April is deranged, kraang mutations kicking strong with her
She likes to scare the shit out of Casey with them
Karai comes and goes being the Queen that she is, best Big Sister and Leader of what there is left of the Foot Clan
Casey is CONVINCED that she and April are hanging out on a regular basis without them, he does not like that. Karai ALWAYS has the best missions and NEVER takes Casey with her
Spike nearly broke all of Raph's bones with a hug
Softie denies it but he loved it
Michelangelo 'morals? What morals?' Hamato
The Trio gives zero fuck right now
Leo is horrified by this
They just try to make it work
ANGST
Mikey is big brothering like a PRO in the outside but truly he is panicking in the inside, my man is about to lose it.
The Trio + Their Little Menace
Tumblr media
(Not pictured, but just as Mikey has one of Leo's swords, April has Donnie's Bo and Casey has one of Raph's sais, it was a battle of custody)
Little Jones wants to learn to do The Thing With The Disgunting Pink Things but April doesn't tell her how. UNFAIR.
Why Mikey has hair? He and Casey fucked around with mutagen for shit and giggles and found out. Terryfing at the time, hilarious now (that's what they say)
Too much thoughts in my mind

Big Leo holding Raph and joking around with lil' Leo 🥺💜
RAPHIE!!!! I LOVE MY BIG MAN SM!!!!!! i love him i love him i love him i love him i love himmmmmmm
(v excerpts taken from ch7 v)
Before he responds Leonardo walks into the room. Under his arm is Raph, hanging there limply with a shocked expression. Leo reels at the sight a little bit. It looks like Raph is too as he jolts up. “Wait, you can actually carry me?” “I've been waiting for the perfect moment to!” The older turtle chuckles. “And I can do more than carry you, big brother.” He lets Raph down to the floor and crouches down forward for a piggy back ride. Raph gasps loudly and climbs on his back, locking his ankles together. Leonardo stands up with no struggle and Raph starts to pat excitedly on the older turtle’s shoulders. His older brother was wiggling, and yes, it’s fucking adorable! “Leo, Donnie, look!!” “We see that, bud.”
raph is literally so excited to be picked up, the last time he was picked up was from when april tried and he was like 11. yeah sure hes 17 now but that does NOT make him immune to having an indescribable amount of joy for being carried around like a ragdoll
he kicky his feeties
on the other hand, fleo wanted to return and thank raph in his own way. for protecting him, for taking care of him donnie, and mikey. and also as kind of an apology.
"let me carry the burden you do" is what hes trying to say here. and even to present raph, hes still taking care of fleo. raph cares about his brother so much it doesnt matter if fleo is taller than him now, that hes older with decades on him, that he survived a war.
fleo is his little brother and nothing is going to change that.
onto the leos !!
He sees in his periphery that Leonardo smiles wider. “Awe, you like me.” “Don’t push it.” Leo rolls his eyes. “It’d be shitty to demote you just because you're not from this timeline. If we did that, we’d have to do it to Case– Junior too. It wouldn’t have been fair.” “Whatever you say.” Leo snorts. “That being said, can you stop leering over in the shadows? It's actually terrifying.” “I can only do so many things in the lair before I’m bored again.” “And that means giving me a heart attack every time I go into a room? Put away your scary ass stare man, I swear your eyes turn red.” “I didn’t know you were so faint of heart.” “I should have kept you sedated.” Leo says, knowing he never once put him under sedation.
my dynamic of leos is very hard for me to describe personally. its not hostile, its just complicated, and even then "complicated" has too negative of a connotation.
leo is a person who latches onto family with his entire heart. he accepted karai as gramgram near immediately and we all know how fucked up about her death was on him and to the rest of the boys.
its different when its a version of yourself.
for me i didnt want immediate hostility(look away from the scalpel incident for one sec), because i saw some fics that go too hard into the "leo hates himself" angle and while not unsounded, it can be played straight and have a good payoff, it was NOT the tone i wanted in wmas. it wouldnt match the kind of complication im trying to give across here
pov leo, hes seeing himself as the pinnacle leader, from how casey described him, hes the Hero, this is the ideal of what he should be striving for.
but the person hes seeing in front of him is just a guy. leo saw him injured, resting on bed in the medbay, he saw him start to cry in raph's arms, he sees a father, he sees a confused and lost man in front of him.
in a way its pity. in a way he pities himself. fleo is tired and leo can clearly see that, cause hell, hes fuckin tired too.
“I should have kept you sedated.” Leo says, knowing he never once put him under sedation. “That’s called elderly abuse.” “And you’re how old?” “Do I really- okay I see that face, alright.” Leonardo moves his hand to cover Leo’s face and shoves him back. “You got me. Whatever, you absolute child.” Leo cackles.
and fleo's pov on the matter is, well, i kinda already typed it out all the way in chapter 5
The world of this timeline said that Leo will be able to make up for his mistake with the key. Not him, the world said.
he looks at leo and feels so much pride, but hes scared that leo thinks less of him. leo managed to save the world and he didnt. and now hes here fucking up a perfectly good happy ending that didnt need to include him.
and on a little more selfish level, "why wasnt i good enough" fleo is thinking.
he doesnt think leo as the superior version of the two of them, but the fact still stands. one of them won. the other didnt. and he sometimes wishes he won too. its complicated.
they dont hate each other, not even a little bit. theyre too good of people to hate each other

Unnamed AU 2
Cherry doesn't like her voice, especially since it sounded off to her.
She is aware of what happened to her and it confuses her on how she should act which results in small fits of sadness which was mistaken for anger in the beginning.
Surprisingly, Leo was the first to understand and asked Donnie to help everyone learn sign.
Despite Mikey being Dr. Feelings, he couldn't get Cherry to open up as much as Donnie
Donnie, being emotionally constipated, understood better what his baby sister was going through
Cherry does love her family, but she also thinks about how she doesn't know them and barely have a chance to.
(She knows them, she's just overthinking)
During Draxum's redemption arc, she steered clear of him only willing to be with him so long as she wasn't alone.
Mikey has tried to get them alone but Donnie was usually there or Leo was on the phone with her.
It takes Splinter scolding Mikey and telling him to slow down for him to back off.
Michelangelo is still Splinter's favorite but he has always looked out for all his kids.
Mikey tries to teach Cherry how to cook, it's edible.
At first Mikey swore she hated him but he later Dr. Feelings himself and realized that he doesn't really hang out with her.
Cherry does get along with her family, April included, and has given each a ribbon
Cherry likes ribbons and stuff creatures
During the movie, Kraang decided to let her see her family attacking her.
This wasn't a problem unless someone was moving too much or upset.
Nobody found this out until Leo was scolding her for being reckless and approached her.
She knows her family won't hurt her but she couldn't stop the flinch.
She hid in Splinter's room for the rest of the day.
There are family chats monthly to find boundaries and stuff.
Splinter makes sure to have it written down somewhere in a book and a Lair wall. (Will post list eventually)
She's usually seen hanging from Leo's back, leaning on Donnie or holding Mikey's hand
She is still an Alligator Snapping Turtle so she's a bit taller than Mikey.
She and Casey actually do vigilante work, so long as they tell Splinter or Donnie when they went out.
Cherry's favorite stuffie is a giant pink bomb Donnie gave her, it has pockets and a hole where she can curl up in.
Leo gave her a fluffy unicorn that she cherishes as well.
Mikey gave her a teddy bear and some fabric, he promised to teach her how to sew and knit
Splinter gave her Mrs. Cuddles, which she was afraid of at first but she still loves it.
April gave her a membership to the local build a bear (I don't remember the name and I'm too lazy to look rn)
After the movie, Junior goes with Casey and Cherry during their vigilante time.
He realized just how unhinged they are.

FINAL CHAP!!!!!!
once again on Wattpad and AO3 <3
{ used some prompts from: @urfriendlywriter @dumplingsjinson @novelbear and @floweredhat <3 }
1, 2, 3 also want to express that I am. So sorry for the end I’m so tired and really tried to find a good ending so I hope it’s ok it’s at almost 4k words and didn’t know what else to add
“You’ve fallen for the biggest idiot in the world.”
Raph slinks into the lab as soon as Casey and April leave, Donnie having his nose in a book and a mug of tea in hand as the door shuts behind him. He would grin if his face weren't stuck that way already.
"What'd April tell you?"
The scientist rolls his eyes as his older brother takes a seat across from him.
"That he's into you and apparently can only tell when he has romantic attraction to girls."
Raph snorts at that.
"Seriously!" Donnie retorts, causing his brother to laugh a little harder.
"I believe you," he says after a minute, smile finally fading—his face was beginning to hurt. "Casey basically said he's into me, he just seemed so...calm about it—almost like he didn't realize he said it."
Raph props an elbow up on the table they're sitting at, sitting his chin in his hand and staring wistfully in the distance as he continues to speak.
"We were slow dancing together," and the ear-to-ear grin returns, though he tries to hide it behind his hand to keep the moment a little more serious, "and it was, like...the way he looked at me, I guess, it seemed different afterwards, so I can only guess that maybe he's started realizing."
Hiding the smile, of course, didn't do much to help the mood of the room as Donatello smirks.
"Sounds like you had a nice night."
Raph slams his head against the table—Donnie picks his mug up as his head goes down—as a blush covers his face, folding his arms over it to try to hide more.
"He was so gentle," the shorter gushes, causing his taller brother to laugh a bit. "He held my hand and kept me close, and someone was playing this really sappy love song in the park while we were out there," and he punctuates his rambling with a mix of a groan and a sigh as he picks his head back up to stare off into the distance again.
“It was perfect.”
“Sounds it,” Donnie retorts with a light snicker. Comfortable silence falls upon them, Donnie picking his book back up and taking a sip of his tea.
"How was yours?"
The question startles him a moment, choking slightly on a sip of tea before removing the mug from his lips and marking his page again. A blush creeps across Donnie's face thinking about April being a little closer to him than usual.
"Nothing special," he admits, looking at the floor rather than the wall. While he's distracted, Raph takes the opportunity to steal the mug from his brother to take a sip before putting it back—green tea with lemon, he concludes the flavor.
"Really?" the hothead challenges, smirking as his brother's blush grows slightly.
"Yeah," comes the shaky reply, Donnie beginning to fidget with his hands, "just...April was standing a little closer than she usually does—leaning on me, touching my hands—"
"You're sure it wasn't an accident?"
"Don't be mean, Raphael."
Said brother snorts another laugh, taking another sip from the genius' mug. Donnie sees him this time, though doesn't feel a need to stop him.
"Any news on whether or not she likes you, though?" Raph inquires, placing the mug back down. Donnie merely shakes his head with a solemn sigh.
"No. I didn't want to ask, or make any hints—I really don't wanna mess this friendship up."
Raph looks off again while he mulls over his brother's words. After a moment or two, he gets an idea.
"How about we go through with this anyway? If she says no, we just leave it at that."
Donatello rolls his eyes with a slight scoff.
"Even Michelangelo could've thought of that."
"Yeah," Raph retorts, "but when a machine doesn't give you the result you want, you can toy with it until it does. You can't do that with people."
"I don't—!"
"You do," the hothead interrupts, grabbing the tea that now sits between the two. "I know you don't mean anything by it, it's just a thing you do—probably because you're so used to working with machines."
Donnie's rendered speechless as his older brother takes another sip. He hates, more than anything, that he's wrong like that; at least it's something to grow and learn from, now that it's out in the open.
"So," says Raph suddenly, disturbing his brother's internal crisis, "we teach you to get your shell together to actually tell her, and go from there."
There's something in his eyes that Donnie can't place a finger on, though isn't unfamiliar, and he feels like it's a silent reminder that he's not alone in this. Raphael has his fist outstretched above the table with a soft smirk gracing his features, and he smiles back at his older brother as he bumps his fist with his own.
"Sounds like a plan, older brother," Donnie confirms, picking his book back up. This time, when the other reaches for his tea mug, the genius smacks his hand away.
"Go get your own tea!"
~*~
The following day, April joins Donnie on the couch as soon as she walks in while Casey scours his bag before pulling out a pair of headphones and plugging them into his phone.
"You have to hear this song, dude," says Casey to Raph before anything else, handing the headphones to the turtle before scrolling through his phone. They're already on the terrapin's head by the time the song is pulled up, and Casey grabs his hand to lead him out of the room as he presses play; his shorter counterpart tries hiding his face from his brother and their friend as a blush rises to his cheeks. April, who'd been watching their whole interaction, can't help but smile while she watches them leave. It's only then does Donnie realize she hadn't been paying attention to what he'd been saying, feeling a slight surge of jealousy he tries to ignore.
"What're you smiling at?"
Luck is on his side at the fact that the question didn't sound as bitter as he was expecting. The redhead nods after the pair, watching them until they're out of sight.
"Raph," she responds bluntly, smile never fading as she turns to the brainiac. "I've never seen any of your tails wag before. Do you all do that?"
Don tries to pretend his face isn't heating up as he rubs the back of his neck with an awkward grin.
"Yeah," he states with a slight chuckle. "It's not too often, though—except for Mikey, who's just excitable enough it could happen whenever."
April hums contemplatively, turning her head back to where Raph and Casey were just standing. After a moment or so of the lull in their conversation, she turns her full attention back to the genius in front of her.
"There's a project you wanted to tell me about, isn't there?"
That's the only thing needed to pick up Donatello's enthusiasm again, grinning wide as he stands and begins rambling. As he leads her to the lab, he's unaware of her staring at his wagging tail the entire way there.
Outside, Raph hands the headphones back to Casey as he tries to hide his blush.
"Good song," he says dumbly, not too sure what else to say. It's not every day that his best friend, the guy he's got a huge crush on, plays a love song that matches them perfectly and only tells him he'd like it.
"Isn't it?" the other says excitedly, seemingly ignoring the lame response from his friend. "One of my friends at school showed it to me, and I just had to show you."
"You mean one of your teammates?" Raph teases with a playful smirk, to which Casey sticks his tongue out at him immaturely.
"Doesn't matter," the hockey player grumbles childishly, pouting a little. "Same thing."
"Whatever you say, Jones," the shorter chuckles. "Whoever it is, they have good taste."
"Yeah," Casey chuckles back, leading to a comfortable silence between them for a minute or so.
Raph is about to say something else, turning to face his friend again, and apparently Casey as well, which only then did the turtle realize how close they're sitting.
Their lips are maybe an inch or two away from each other, and whatever either had to say died upon them.
Both feel their breath hitch in their throats, staring the the other's lips as their minds and hearts race a mile a minute trying to put any of their million thoughts into a coherent sentence and try to figure out what's happening - whether they make a first move or stay where they are and not risk anything.
Unfortunately, Casey sends every one of his neurons on break as he snaps his own trance from his friend's mouth to look him in the eye.
"How about a movie?"
.+.
Donnie and April have been sitting in near silence the entire time they've been in the lab.
While the redhead finds it comfortable, it's the opposite to the terrapin's internal screaming.
You've got to say something, the genius scolds himself. At least try to play it cool.
"So," he starts lamely, going against his own brain, "how's school?"
He didn't even have an idea what to say—he'd doomed himself just by opening his mouth. She seems unfazed, shrugging solemnly as she keeps her eyes on the project in front of them.
"Awkward," she replies just as solemnly. "With Casey and everything, it—I didn't even really wanna face him. I don't think he wanted to see me, either."
Donnie can't help but snort, causing a small grin out of the girl as well.
"I'd imagine," he says before thinking. "Getting rejected sucks."
April glances at him then, grin turning to a smirk.
"You've been rejected before?"
"If we wanna get technical," and suddenly he sounds snarky, defensive, even as he wants to keep the lighthearted tone and his voice feels out of his control, "we all have. You did the first time you saw us. That's really the main reason we live down here in the first place—us being rejected by society can mean dire consequences. Splinter can't afford that when we're all he has left."
With her smile gone, and, miraculously, understanding that he's trying to keep the tone, she shrugs nonchalantly.
"You make a fair point."
Silence falls between them again, and Donnie feels worse for opening his mouth than when he didn't. Furthermore, now the atmosphere is tense for both parties rather than just one. Donatello spends the next few minutes beating himself up for it, then turns to April to apologize for—well, speaking, he supposes. When he looks at her, however, she's already looking at him in a way he's all too familiar with, just not on her face. He swallows hard, and his mouth is once again moving faster than his brain.
"Why are you looking at me like that?"
The ginger raises an eyebrow as she cocks her head. She didn't realize she was looking at him a particular way.
"Like what?"
He swallows hard again, throat dry as a desert and it's too late now to take it back.
"Like you want me."
April's face softens as Donnie's doesn't change, his voice soft and almost melancholy and it sort of breaks the girl's heart. She can't help but feel that he just took a huge risk, and maybe he did, and now her lack of answer as the wheels turn in her head make this feel so much bigger than it did just minutes ago—
Suddenly, they hear Raph and Casey's loud "play" arguing from the lair entrance, both instinctually rolling their eyes at their obnoxiousness. They glance at the door simultaneously, then share a look, one they both understood it's time to put the project away before the other two accidentally cause a disaster. They'll talk later, they silently agree. As the other pair gets closer, they can hear more of what they're saying.
"All I said is that it was cute!" Casey exclaims, sounding somewhat amused.
"And I told you to shut it, Jones!" Raph retorts, clearly aggravated. "There's no need to talk about it!"
Quiet falls as Donnie and April head towards the lab door, soft footsteps replacing the other's voices for a second or so. The door opens, and they see Casey make his final step right in front of Raph. Immediately, they freeze, now feeling like this is something they're not supposed to see.
"You gonna make me?"
Casey's voice is soft, teasing, and he has a Cheshire Cat grin on his face while Raph's is a nice shade of rouge by now. They watch training instincts kick into the shorter turtle instantly, and he roundhouse kicks the hockey player in the chest, sending him flying half across the lair.
Donnie immediately starts howling with laughter, grabbing his stomach and leaning back as April bites her lip to stifle hers, trying to appear more concerned than she is. He plays hockey, he's faced worse than this, and that doesn't change that he got slammed into concrete and is hurt either way.
"What'd you do that for?" she called over Donnie's laughing fit, which is loud enough she has to yell over it.
"I was defending myself!" the other responds in a panic, just as loud. "He dared me to shut him up!"
"He didn't mean to attack him!" April shouts back. In her peripheral vision, she sees Casey slowly sit up, grabbing his head.
Beside her, the scientist is now doubled over from laughing so hard, kneeling on the ground with a hand still pressed his plastron. Raph almost fears he's going to actually throw up from his own laughter, which is now reduced to snorting giggles.
"What were you two arguing over, anyway?" the girl continues after the slight lull, allowing Casey to regain his composure as Donnie calms down a bit further.
Raph turns his head away slightly as he feels his face heat up, going to help Casey up off the floor as the other teen smirks.
"Nothing," Raph says quickly, hiding his face closer to the other's chest as he's hauled from the floor.
"He's embarrassed I saw his tail wagging," Casey informs, leaning on the shorter turtle beside him. Said turtle's face is as red as his mask, his temper picking up again as he glares at his friend.
"Shut up about it!"
"It's cute!" Casey argues, smile never fading. "Besides, April asked! Blame her!"
"Alright," the redhead interrupts, as much as she agrees with the other human's statement, "enough. We'll drop it—it's not worth the energy tonight."
Casey smirks down at Raph again, who has his head turned away while his blush fades.
"Anyway," says the hockey player, picking his weight off the turtle next to him while keeping a hand on his shoulder for balance, "we're gonna watch something if you two are interested."
The two previously in the lab look to each other, silently conveying: "I will if you will."
"Sure," they say in sync as they look back to the other duo. Both bite back a smirk at themselves.
Casey lets go of Raph entirely, albeit still being a little unsteady. He leads the small group to the couch, both reds watching him cautiously as they see him trying not to stumble.
~*~
Everyone fell asleep at varying points throughout the movie, and April and Donnie are the firsts to wake up around ten o'clock.
April gets up first, having fell asleep on Donnie's shoulder and sees him still sleeping sitting up. Beside him is Raph, with Casey lying in his lap. Given the time, she immediately starts packing her bag—all too happy now that it's a Friday and she can do homework tomorrow—to get ready to go home. Donnie awakes seconds after she gets up, the sudden cold on his shoulder from the lack of heat upon him.
"Leaving already?" he croaks, voice groggy with sleep.
The redhead smirks at him as she finishes packing, then shows him the time on her phone.
"It is late, Don."
He squints at the screen, leaning closer to see it better.
"So it is."
She giggles at him, pocketing her phone and swinging her bag over her shoulder, quietly bidding him a goodnight as she approaches the exit. Before she leaves, right after hearing the scientist return her wish goodnight, she pauses, figuring now can be a good time to chat with the other privately.
"Actually," she says, seeing his brown eyes light up slightly as she turns back towards him, "I wanted to ask you something real quick."
The terrapin swallows hard as he stands up. Not knowing someone's intentions is the worst feeling.
"Sure," he says anyway, making his way beside her. "May I walk you home?"
The wide smile and head gesture to follow her is the only response the turtle receives.
They're a little deeper in the sewers, making sure to be out of earshot of the lair, when April speaks again.
"Are you okay?"
Donnie can't hide his shock at the question. That's not at all what he expected her to say off the bat.
"Yeah," he says questioningly, surprise etched in every feature of his face. "Why?"
The redhead shrugs.
"Maybe I've just been more in my head today. I just can't help but feel you've also been a little more...off today."
They now arrive to the sewer cover, Donatello leading the way to push it off and help the other up.
"Don," she continues when on the surface, "I...it took me maybe too long to realize, and I'm sorry for that, so...."
She can't quite figure out how to phrase what she wants to say, stopping when they make it to the rooftop.
"You can talk to me," she continues, turning to face him, "whatever it is. I'm listening."
Donnie feels his heart stop and his face turn pale. He feels like he's just walked into a trap, like if he does say whatever he wants to that she'll punch him in the face and say she never wants to see him again.
"I don't think I can," he whispers, fear hitting him hard. April doesn't back down, however, stepping closer to him and grabbing his chin lightly to have his eyes meet hers.
"Please," she whispers softer, seeing tears well up in the other's eyes, "say it."
It seems to be enough of a pep talk, Donnie trying to bite back tears either way as he feels remotely safe now.
"I like you, April," he spits out before allowing himself time to chicken out. "Like, a lot, and I don't want to ruin the friendship you and I developed and the relationship you have with my brothers and—"
Soft lips are against his before he could even register, and his shock is subsided for just enough time to kiss back for a mere second.
April's smile is brighter than the moon above them, and she feels the same about his dopey, gap-toothed grin in return. Within the half hour, he brings her home with them continuing to chat and giggle with each other, and she gives him a peck on the cheek when bidding him goodnight again. Donnie finds himself unable to sleep later just thinking about the night.
Around two hours later, about midnight, Casey wakes up, who quickly realizes his head is lying on someone's lap—likely Raph, as he's the only person next to him, and he can feel his legs dangling over the arm of the couch.
His head feels bare, meaning his bandana is somewhere not where it usually is, and he can feel three thick fingers running through his hair.
He remains silent with his eyes closed, trying to keep the impression that he's asleep. Apparently, there isn't much you can keep from a ninja.
"How're you feeling?" the turtle asks softly, fingers still threading through raven hair.
"Better 'an before," Casey grumbles, still half asleep. He thinks he recalls one of the brothers mentioning how breathing patterns change during unconsciousness, and maybe that's how his friend realized he's awake. He'll have to ask him about it later.
"How long have you been awake?" he continues, opening his eyes now to meet Raph's gaze.
He shrugs, adjusting the hand not in Casey's hair to hold his head up from the cushion behind him.
"Maybe an hour or so. Don had just gotten home—said he walked April home."
He leaves out the part of his wolf-eating grin and everything his brother told him about the night, knowing Casey still has feelings for the girl.
"Brought her home?" the human panics slightly, sitting up quickly as Raph removes his hand from his head. "What time is it?"
"Late, I guess," is the nonchalant answer, Raph pulling his phone out to get an exact answer. "Seven after midnight."
"Shoot," Casey hisses, dramatically flopping back down on his friend. "Angel's gonna have a cow. She always stays up waiting for me when I'm out past ten."
Raph can't help but smirk at the other's reaction.
"Doesn't seem important enough for you to move."
"I'm comfy," Casey whines, stretching out the last vowel and resulting in laughter from the shorter. A lull in conversation falls between them, and Casey feels filter still failing to work as Raph's facial expression remains the same.
"Y'know," he says suddenly, "no one's ever looked at me the way that you do."
The turtles breath hitches in his throat, his face flushing. Casey smirks despite his embarrassment; he's never been so shy around a guy—around Raph—before.
"Shut up, Jones," the other pouts, turning away from him. Unexpected to the turtle, Casey tries to keep his composure, putting a hand on the back of his head and gently bringing him down to a mere inch above his own.
"Or what?" he teases, smirk growing with the other's blush. Raph finds himself torn, if he should risk it all or pull away and pick on him to further protect himself. As he's staring between his eyes and his lips, Casey makes the decision for him, releasing his head and standing up.
"Well," Casey says nonchalantly, trying to hide his smirk, I should get home. Angel's gonna kill me."
Just as he's expecting, Raph stares at him wide-eyed and completely flushed. The hockey player swings his bag over his shoulder, hiding his smirk and disguises it as a genuine smile as he reaches the exit, and he turns around to bid the other a goodnight.
"Case," Raph calls before he can even get another breath in.
Turning around as planned, he sees the shorter now standing, staring at him as his chest heaves in a deep inhale. He steps forward, walking quickly towards him and grabs his shirt in both fists to yank him down in a kiss.
Casey smirks into it, cupping the other's face in both hands and feeling his friend swoon a little.
They pull away, both now sporting sincere smiles. Before they release each other, Casey gives him a light peck with Raph's grip lessening on his shirt.
"Goodnight, Red," he says softly, and Raph can almost swear he could see stars in his eyes.
Hey btw the scene Raph kicks Casey is inspired by this one + the song at the start is "I Think We're Alone Now" by Billie Joe Armstrong
Are there any Raph/Casey fics where Raph goes to Don for help and Don's like " Yo, I can get Casey off April if I help you" and shenanigans ensue

To Save Yourself- Chapter 4: That Toxic Kind of Love
“We’ve got each other until things can get fixed!” Mikey stuck his tongue out at Tesla.
“Thanks Michael…”
“Donnie? Who the hell is this?” A high pitched, feminine voice questioned.
- - - - - - -
Tesla froze up and nearly jumped out of his shell at the appearance of the new person.
“A-April!” He squealed, the name causing Mikey’s eyes to boggle from his head- almost . This was their April? The girl in question stood in the doorway, hip cocked up and a foot tapping impatiently. Her arms were crossed sternly, and Mikey was frozen on the spot. Unlike their April, her hair was flamingly orange, her eyes green, and the most noticeable difference was her skin tone. She was white? Mikey shrugged internally, concluding that if these brothers are all the same kind of turtle, and this Splinter was tall, then their April could be white.
“Well Don? Are you going to introduce me to the chick?” Mikey tensed, he now very much wanted to hurl what little he has eaten. He was so much slimmer and smaller than these brothers; and he, unfortunately, did have a somewhat feminine frame. Mikey understood her confusion, but it had been so long since he’d been called a girl that he felt like he had regressed two years.
“April this is Michael , he’s an alternate version of our sibling Mikey.” Tesla emphasized specific words, and in that moment Mikey couldn’t feel more grateful for the understanding they had. April’s eyes widened a fraction before smiling apologetically.
“Wait. Tesla, how did she get in here?” Mikey asked quietly, still eying the redhead from his hiding place behind the taller. Tesla jumped a little at the realization and reflected April’s stern gaze right back at her. April shifted a little, debating whether or not to come closer.
“April, how did you get in?” Tesla’s voice was calm, but cold. The sudden shift in tone made April take a step back. “You forgot to change the password. Casey said you were being weird and that I should check on you.” Tesla grit his teeth, rolling his shoulders back and standing tall.
“Oh c’mon Donnie!” April said nervously holding her hands up defensively, “I miss hanging out with you. Can’t we put our past aside and go back to you and me?” She cooed.
“You and me?” Tesla wavered for a second. “I… I kinda do miss hanging out with you. You were the only one other than Mikey who listened to me.” Tesla looked so forlorn, it broke Mikey’s heart.
“HOLD UP!” Mikey bellowed, Dr. Feelings up and ready to take over. “April, Tesla, I think you two need a meeting with Dr. Feelings.” Mikey slipped on his sweater and glasses with a startling speed. He motioned at two chairs, and the dumbfounded duo plopped down.
“Hello! I’m Dr. Feelings, welcome to my seminar: Respecting Personal Boundaries.” Though the mysterious power of Dr. Feelings, Mikey’s slides for his seminar appeared on the largest of Tesla’s screens. The first slide featured two basic stick figures, with a click suddenly one of the figures had a speech bubble above its head.
“Here we have two people. Let’s say… T and A.” Tesla and April rolled their eyes, but despite themselves, they smiled good-naturedly.  “T asks A that they need to respect the boundaries they’ve set.” Something to the effect of what Mikey said appeared in the bubble. “A ignores T’s wishes, and goes against what T wants.” Tesla crosses his arms, and April looks slightly more annoyed than a moment ago. “But regardless of this, T forgives A and asks again for A to respect their boundaries.” The stick figure’s actions repeat over and over again, and as they repeat the motions get faster and faster, “T” starts to look more exhausted. Once they get to a blurry point, Mikey pauses the video.
“This pattern of behavior weighs heavily on T’s mental health. And more than once T wonders if maybe they’re in the wrong, that they are being a bad person by setting these boundaries.” Mikey doesn’t look at either of them while he motions at the stick figures, knowing full well that his words were sinking in already.  The next slide features the two stick figures, now back to how they were at the beginning.
“Here’s what they did wrong. T should clearly state their boundaries,” As Mikey talks the stick figures act out what he says, “And A then needs to respect them. Bam! The steps to healing can begin. It’s ok to want to fix things if both parties are alright with that, but the moment old behavior patterns begin again the train needs to stop a-chugga luggin down that track.” He finishes and crosses his arms, now fully facing Tesla and April. The latter of whom now looks a bit more sheepish, and the former conflicted. Mikey smirks triumphantly, well aware that he effectively got his message across.
“Now, talk it out!” He says cheerfully, “I’ll be here to referee.” He sat himself on the spinny chair he abandoned when he jumped to hug Tesla. “Referee?” April questioned with a small hiss, her tone lacking some of the venom from before. She twisted slightly to the side, facing herself away from Tesla and Mikey with arms crossed.
She’s uncomfortable , Mikey observed, Tesla isn’t doing much better . Tesla looked pretty much ready to run at a moment's notice. Mikey knew this wouldn’t go anywhere unless he started something, he just needed to get this ball rolling.
“April, maybe you could explain to me why Tesla would need to change the password on his lab doors?” he suggested, keeping an eye out for either of their reactions. Tesla’s jaw clenched, Mikey had struck a nerve. April sighed, coming to terms with the fact that she wasn’t getting out of this.
“ Donnie and I have some… differences.” April said simply. Tesla slammed his hands down onto the arms of his chair, “Differences my ass .” He spat. Mikey quirked a metaphorical eyebrow at Tesa, urging someone to continue. “For YEARS I fawned over you, FOR YEARS I followed you around like a love sick puppy.” April shrunk back into her chair, not expecting this sort of retaliation from sweet, timid Tesla.
“You compliment me, you flirt with me, you tease me with the idea of reciprocating my feelings for you. And you just… you just leave me the first chance you get! You chase the first human male tail you see! You treat him like how you treated me, YOU KISS HIM IN FRONT OF ME!” Tesla cried, outraged tears gathering in his eyes. He had stood part way through his confession, the adrenaline forcing him to stand. His hands now shook at his sides.
“She did that to you just because of me?” Casey was back at the door, which had been left open in all the chaos. Tesla whipped around, jaw dropped in disbelief. “Uhm.. well yeah. I mean, I’m happy for you two… I just wish April hadn’t gotten my hopes up.” Casey wrung his hands nervously.
“Well you see… That’s the thing.” All three of them regarded the teen with varying levels of curiosity. “Me and April aren’t a thing.”
“ Yet .” April added, smiling sweetly at him. Tesla looked destroyed, his shoulders sagged and he was back to being seconds away from bolting.
But right when it seemed Tesla would combust Casey found his voice again. “At all. I’m not into you April, especially after hearing what you did to D.” He walked up to Tesla, holding open his arms welcomingly. “I’m sorry man, I had no idea you were going through that. I… Well, I know this isn’t any consolation, but I’d totally go out with you, no questions asked.” Casey blushed darkly as he hugged Tesla, a devious smirk tugged at the corners of Mikey’s mouth.
This isn’t my Casey , Mikey internally plotted, no harm in setting those two up. He giggled evilly and rubbed his hands together. “April,” He flapped his hand dismissively at her, “ You can go for now, think about what you’ve heard today, and figure out ways to keep any toxic behavior from surfacing in your relationship again… Also, knock and wait for permission to enter.” He pointed accusingly at her. April nodded furiously, and high tailed her way out of the lab, muttering angrily under her breath.
He grinned at Tesla slyly, “Oh Tesla-”
“Your name is Tesla now?!” Tesla nodded at Casey, “THAT’S COOL AS SHIT!”
Mikey snorted, “Yeah- Like I was saying, can we go on a tour of the surface?” Mikey tapped his chin, not even trying to feign innocence. “I haven’t been above ground since I got here.” Casey’s eyes widened and he flapped his hands while he talked, “WHAT?! I knew you weren’t Mikey! Ok- you two have got to explain. After we get some hard core junk food, blankets, drinks, and shitty movies!” He caught himself before he could continue, and he added sadly, “I mean, if you want me around. I can understand if you are grossed out by me.” He hung his head, making his way for the lab’s exit.
Tesla made it to Casey before Mikey could.
“WAIT- I mean… I… Well I gotta see if you… if you’ve-ve got the- the guts-s to go through with what you- what you said earlier.” Tesla’s green skin flushed red from his cheeks to his shoulders as he said this. The stuttering problem Tesla confided in Mikey about came back with a vengeance, only worsening Tesla’s embarrassment.
Casey, noticing Tesla’s embarrassment, simply beamed at the turtle and nodded. While the two exchanged comments in hushed whispers Mikey put his glasses down on a table, deciding to leave on his sweater for comfort. He really missed his hoodie, Mikey would have to ask Tesla if other him kept hoodies around.
Once again, the turtles found themselves in a discussion about identity and relationships, Casey now loudly piping in. They hadn’t noticed the flash of blue from the hallway until its owner spoke.
“You’re trans ?” Leonardo questioned. He heard Tesla gulp and Casey grab his arm. “I mean, our Mikey is ‘ gender-fluid’ or something like that, but changing your own gender ?? Fully?” Leonardo scoffed and Mikey felt his blood run hot in his skin. His fists clenched at his sides.
“Don’t pay him any mind Micheal.” Tesla attempted to quell the raging fire in Mikey’s eyes, “He’s repressed- I talked with him when Mikey came out, Splinter wasn’t happy and his opinion influences Leo’s greatly .” Tesla probably wanted to say something like ‘It’s not his fault’ but he bit his tongue. Leonardo narrowed his eyes and scoffed before pushing past the group to get to the dojo. Mikey didn’t miss the sowl he aimed at Casey as he shoulder checked him on his way by.
“Man, what a douche.” Casey grumbled, but smiled a little when Tesla rested a hand on his shoulder. “It doesn’t matter, let’s go raid shit.”
- - - - - - -
Mikey cackled as Tesla blinked from the position he was in. Casey had piled blanket after blanket on him, his reason for having so many? So he could make the best blanket and pillow forts for his little sister. But she was at their mom’s, so the blankets were just sitting around, just begging to be used.
“Ok!” Casey clapped his hands together, “That’s it for the blankets, you got the pillows Mike?” Mikey gave him a smile and nodded. “And I’ll go grab the snacks!” Casey jumped and fist-bumped the air above him. Tesla and Mikey shared a laugh when they heard Casey add ‘AND THE MOVIES’ from another room, probably louder than was necessary for such a tiny apartment. Mikey nuzzled his face into the soft pillow, unbeknownst to him drawing Tesla’s attention. “Do you… like soft things?” He asked gently, idly running a hand over one of the many blankets piled on him.
“Yeah.” Mikey whispered, immediately reminded of movie nights with his brothers. Of napping in Donnie’s lab when he was overstimulated. He reminisced of the way Raph’s bed was essentially a nest, always covered in the softest of blankets, pillows, and a few well loved plushies. The sound of Casey and Tesla quietly conversing about something pulled him from his thoughts. He was startled when the softest hoodie he had ever felt was thrown at his face. Casey was explaining how Mikey could borrow it for as long as he needed when Mikey realized he was purring while he rubbed the fabric against his face, pillows long forgotten on the floor. Tears built in his eyes as deep churrs rumbled in his chest. His knees buckled and sent him collapsing on the floor. The softness… It so deeply reminded him of his brothers. His brothers. He wanted his brothers.
Arms circled around him, hushed whispers promising to get him back to them soon. Apparently he had sobbed that aloud. “Oh buddy,” Tesla cooed, “It’ll be alright, I’ll get you home.”
The trio moved into the living room, plans of going back to the lair abandoned. They turned the floor of Casey’s living room into a giant nest of comfort, and wrapped Mikey in blankets after he donned the hoodie. Mikey, having calmed down a few minutes into the Disney movie, was happily munching on his new favorite snacks while Tesla and Casey were love-sick dorks on the couch behind him.
Every moment he had to spend away from his brothers hurt a little more, but with Tesla and Casey around… Mikey could survive. He grinned softly, he loved these dorks, damnit. And there was no way in hell he was going home without them.

hi hannah. drop ur rise opinions if u haven't already by the time u see this. or just general tmnt opinions. xoxo
OH HENRY I CAN ALWAYS RELY ON YOU
this is gonna have to be under a cut too i have a lot . I'll do rise specific opinions bc I have so many opinions all the time so send an ask if you want other tmnt opinions
one: THE "CANON" HEIGHT CHART IS AWFUL.
Tumblr media
this is the most ridiculous height chart i have ever seen. As a person who is in real life 4'9. APRIL IS NOT 4'8. she looks like she is of average height compared to other humans around her, and when you are below 4'10 it is NOTICEABLE and in fact it's very rare you'll meet anyone who is shorter than you that isn't significantly younger than you. also in this picture her proportions are off anyways? her body is usually slightly bigger. donnie is smaller than he should be in this picture and you can tell because he's roughly leo's size and both his head and plastron appear to be smaller than leo's which to me indicates they made his sprite smaller so he'd appear shorter. mikey's heels aren't even lined up correctly in the picture and he appears taller than april in it even though the numbers say he's shorter. this chart really seems like they picked 6'0 for the raph height because it seemed like a tall enough height and based all the other heights off that regardless of whether it makes any sense. i sincerely doubt that this was made by the creators of the show, despite being "official". it's just a lazy tweet from some social media manager for engagement and I refuse to acknowledge it.
two: PEOPLE ARE WEIRD ABOUT SPLINTER. HE IS NOT A BAD FATHER. it's like camila noceda all over again. splinter in rise is a complicated and intentionally flawed but good person. he's not nearly as neglectful as fans portray him to be. most people cite the demolition derby episode as proof, but to me this doesn't say that splinter neglects his kids. what's going on in that episode is that as his children outgrow what he can typically provide, he is losing his ability to relate to them and he's trying less hard to actively spend time with them as they become more independent. this is especially with donnie because donnie's interests are not typically something he can meaningfully engage in. additionally, due to his upbringing he doesn't really understand that donnie is the kind of kid that needs out loud explicit praise, so he doesn't typically give it. what donnie expresses in that episode is that he does enjoy spending time with his dad, and that he needs that kind of reassurance about his worth. splinter responds to this, and adjusts his behavior because he cares enough to make active changes for his sons. people also point to raph and say that he had to raise his siblings/ was parentified which is honestly baseless. raph doesn't really start getting that whole complex about protecting the team until mid-late season 2 when he is the leader of a vigilante team and their lives are being threatened. in the early season 1 episodes and in flashbacks he's clearly just as much of a dumb kid as the rest of them, and it wasn't splinter's parenting that made him grow up too fast but instead the world ending threats that were trying to take out the people he cares about.
also stare at these images for a half hour minimum and tell me he's neglectful. that's right shut up HE LOVES HIS BOYS HE DESTROYED THE ANCIENT SCROLLS WHEN THEY TOLD HIM TO LET HIS SONS BE MARTYRS HE ALWAYS JUMPS IN TO FIGHT WHEN THE THREAT IS SERIOUS BE QUIET!!! y'all really cannot handle it when parents of color show any signs of being complicated people on tv
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
okay NUMBER 3: nearly every single fanon portrayal of casey jones jr makes my blood boil. people are so much more interested in recreating the dynamics from the bad timeline than actually exploring how casey would interact with the others post movie. first of all he's not one of the youngest if you look at his design and his behavior and think about it for 2 seconds he's obviously meant to be around april's age. secondly the reason he calls present leo sensei at the end of the movie is because he's reliving the very recent loss of the leo he looked up to not because he sees current leo as a mentor. if you watch the scene where he yells at current leo, he's obviously taking on an authoritative role in the conversation where leo looks more like a child being scolded. also casey has FACIAL HAIR HE'S NOT 15. point is let casey jones jr be the strange and off putting college aged weird older brother he was always meant to be amen

... brace youself xD
cass/april semi canon yesss       ljhks caseys and raph+casey duo😭       YES F!Leo still has his powers <3       YES MAYHEM WE NEEDED MORE MAYHEM😭    HA Bishop is a small villian <3<3    They had their time to recover TT(considering the city is a bit cleaned up and all that)
*screeching*
there were definitely six baby turtles (two sisters)! and the turtles were gonna split up to rescue the one with big mama and the one in "the dimension", but they never planned much of it out
YES THE SISTERRRRRR
and rather than venus de milo, she would've been named after a female artist (possibly frida kahlo)
ok so we have a completely different sister name!** (i am taking frida <3)
for halloween: raph dressed up as a kitten, mikey as a lion, leo as a rockstar, and donnie as j. robert oppenheimer
someone draw this ohmygoooood xD (is there a hidden point of mikey having a more dangerous version of raph's costume?)
the mystic weapons stolen from draxum acted as a conduit to help the boys unlock their innate mystic powers with a "little boost"
I KNEW IT I KNEW IT I KNEW IT *crying*
since the turtles became known to the public at the end of the movie, they'd have to fight to retain their reputation. this and their reception to criticism/backlash would've become a major arc.
LEAVE MY BOYS ALONE THEY LITERALLY SAVED THE WORLD YOU UNGRATEFUL ASSES😭
the stronger someone's ninpo is, the greater the drain on their energy is (as seen with f!mikey and karai)
nooo TT
as previously mentioned, the 2nd sister would've been trapped in "another dimension" and venus/frida would have to be won over by "helping her see that she had been brainwashed [by big mama] as a child" (and redeemed)
GIVE ME THIS OH MY GOOOOOOOOOD
given more time, the show would've fleshed out: the hamato story, the hidden city's origins (krang spaceship that crashed into the crying titan being the source of the ooze, its fuel being what gave the yokai mystic powers), and would've used the rat king (who ron corcillo would've liked to be a powerful yokai with rat-like abilities and some form of mind control, who could've threatened the council of heads for power in the hidden city)
I WANT THIS ALL I NEED IT I HATE IT HERE T_________T
future heights: mikey grew a bit and then shrunk under mystic strain, leo was at least 6ft, donnie a little taller than leo, and raph at least 6'6
(aww poor Mikey TT)
Pff YES younger twin getting a higher ground XDD (the balance is restored: One gets to be older, Other gets to be taller xD I love how they kept changing who is taller xD As tots Leo was probably taller. In the show Donnie was taller, in the movie Leo was taller, than Donnie ended up the taller one xD)
mikey's powers could get pretty intense, which could've resulted in some multiverse episodes (ron corcillo would be most inclined to do a 12 crossover, but any could work). while leo portals short distances, mikey's cross space and time (with great effort)
Mikey is our crossover key XD
So yeah Leo’s and Mikey’s portals aren’t the same and I am glad =3
given more time, how the turtles met april would've been fleshed out
*SCREECHING INTENSIFIES*
in terms of how they take after splinter: donnie and leo have a lot of his cockiness, raph his courage and sense of duty, and mikey senses him missing his family (which is part of the reason of why he tries to hold everyone together)
I AM GOING TO FUCKING EXPLODE HERE
I AM SO IN LOVE THEY ARE BLOOD RELATED TO SPLINTER IN THIS ONE LGKDJHG (I want Mikey’s arc about this TT)
they would've been co-leaders for a while, and at times mikey or donnie would lead (they aren't really a group with just one leader archetype)
they can still be co-leaders it's fine T__T Also I LOVE how the leader position is not absolute!!<3
venus/frida would've been very disciplined and so serious that's she's funny, and the dimension sister would've been "a little kooky"
OOOH PROBABLY LIKE PENNY PLEASE SAY LIKE PENNY FROM DUCKTALES <3
also kooky?? dear god you killing me WHERE IS MY BABY WHAT IS HAPPENING TO HER???
(i need the names GOD XD for now i choose frida for assistant and venus for dimension sister <3)
ron corcillo would've liked to do more donnie + raph episodes, like one where despite how donnie considers himself smarter, raph ends up beating him in common sense and emotional intelligence
PSHHH OH MY GOOOD (as a biggest brother Raph is obligated to have the most common sense XD <3)
raph probably wouldn't be super uptight about swearing, provided the boys weren't offending anyone
>:]
in terms of the 1000 years ago krang/mystic timeline, the spaceship crashed first (possibly spawning the yokai), and other krang followed it, drawing in the invasion
oh yeah... THERE ARE OTHER KRANGS OUT THERE IM FEARRR
the turtles honour karai and communicate with her when they need guidance
AWWWWTT
ron corcillo is all for the soundtrack releasing but it's ultimately up to nickelodeon
*EXPLODING TO THE OUTER RING GIMME GIMME GIMMEEEEEE*
RISE TWITTER QNA! no major news or announcements, but here's a list of new information and confirmations:
S3 could be brought back as a retro show in the future, but it probably wouldn't happen anytime soon (focus is on mutant mayhem at the moment)
it was never decided whether capril would be friends or girlfriends (due to rise's focus on platonic relationships)
council of heads! they're in power, but a lot of influential yokai (like big mama) aren't easily controlled, and "game the system"
despite not having his dual katana, supposedly f!leo DOES still have mystic powers
ron corcillo would love to see a spin-off focused on the caseys (if rise were ever continued), and likes the potential of a raph + casey vigilante duo
the turtles got their names after splinter's love for renaissance art
big mama's henchman WAS planned to be the missing sister, and rather than venus de milo, she would've been named after a female artist (possibly frida kahlo)
for halloween: raph dressed up as a kitten, mikey as a lion, leo as a rockstar, and donnie as j. robert oppenheimer
the mystic weapons stolen from draxum acted as a conduit to help the boys unlock their innate mystic powers with a "little boost"
they didn't realise mayhem's potential as a character/force until too late, but it could've been fun to do some stories of him being an operative (a la perry the platypus)
there weren't any planned stories for side villains (aside from the foot's cupcake shop), most focus was on the turtles
not much on casey jr's backstory, just that cass and the turtles were fighting the krang and leo raised him as a warrior. casey jr only has brief memories of cass from when he was very young, and was mostly raised by leo
there were definitely six baby turtles (two sisters)! and the turtles were gonna split up to rescue the one with big mama and the one in "the dimension", but they never planned much of it out
there's most likely a time gap between the rescuing leo and the ending scene of the movie, as "after a fight like that, [everyone] would definitely crash and need some recovery time"
there would've been more big mama in future episodes, and stinkbomb was planned to return
since the turtles became known to the public at the end of the movie, they'd have to fight to retain their reputation. this and their reception to criticism/backlash would've become a major arc.
on brother rankings: mikey is definitely raph's favourite, and they all look up to raph
the stronger someone's ninpo is, the greater the drain on their energy is (as seen with f!mikey and karai)
there wouldn't be much threat on villains going after casey jr's future intel, because most of it would've been rendered obsolete
nickelodeon would never give up the rights to rise, but they could license it to a partner company (such as IDW for a comic!)
as previously mentioned, the 2nd sister would've been trapped in "another dimension" and venus/frida would have to be won over by "helping her see that she had been brainwashed [by big mama] as a child" (and redeemed)
given more time, the show would've fleshed out: the hamato story, the hidden city's origins (krang spaceship that crashed into the crying titan being the source of the ooze, its fuel being what gave the yokai mystic powers), and would've used the rat king (who ron corcillo would've liked to be a powerful yokai with rat-like abilities and some form of mind control, who could've threatened the council of heads for power in the hidden city)
as far as we know, the turtles (aside from leo's spanish) only speak english (and even their english is sometimes a bit off)
rise probably wouldn't have ever "gone dark", but after the turtles were publicly known and full-time heroes, it might've had more of an extended plotline
the turtle's casual clothes somewhat reflect their music tastes (r&b for raph, glam rock for leo, techno (and 80s) for donnie and boy band for mikey)
future heights: mikey grew a bit and then shrunk under mystic strain, leo was at least 6ft, donnie a little taller than leo, and raph at least 6'6
mikey's powers could get pretty intense, which could've resulted in some multiverse episodes (ron corcillo would be most inclined to do a 12 crossover, but any could work). while leo portals short distances, mikey's cross space and time (with great effort)
given more time, how the turtles met april would've been fleshed out
in terms of how they take after splinter: donnie and leo have a lot of his cockiness, raph his courage and sense of duty, and mikey senses him missing his family (which is part of the reason of why he tries to hold everyone together)
given more time they would've done more with the transfer of leadership from raph to leo (and originally the plan was to draw that out over S3, rather than the abrupt S2 ending). they would've been co-leaders for a while, and at times mikey or donnie would lead (they aren't really a group with just one leader archetype)
there were plans for april to have more time with the specific turtles other than donnie (like how the gumbus was focused on her mikey and leo)
the cast's mystic abilities would've increased over time, and splinter has a lot of power that hasn't been revealed (as he spent a lot of time in the hidden city in his past)
venus/frida would've been very disciplined and so serious that's she's funny, and the dimension sister would've been "a little kooky"
there weren't really any plans on how the turtles would look in cloaked human forms, just that they'd resemble lou jitsu and may be inspired by their VAs
mikey is the only brother who can fully pull all his limbs and head into his shell (being a box turtle)
any usagi appearances would be a rights matter, and depend on collaboration
on timelines: april is 16 at the start of the series and 18 in the movie, but exactly how much time passes isn't confirmed
ron corcillo would've liked to do more donnie + raph episodes, like one where despite how donnie considers himself smarter, raph ends up beating him in common sense and emotional intelligence
f!leo didn't go with casey jr to the past due to being mortally wounded in his bleeding side
given more time there would've been more flashback episodes with the turtles at various ages
though he'd never admit it, hueso has a close relationship with leo
in early S3 there would've been an episode of setting up the new lair
mystic warrior f!mikey is pretty old (maybe in his 70s), and is strong enough to use basically any mystic power, but at great cost to him physically
no major plans with bishop, but once the turtles became more well-known he could be a bit of a thorn in their sides (like j. jonah jameson to spiderman)
there might've been some redemption from big mama, but also some relapses into her "villainous ways"
given a full season, karai would've been alive for longer, and would've trained the boys for a number of episodes
confirmation that some of early s1 aired in the wrong order (which the writers weren't happy about)
in rise, there's always an unpredictability as to how sentient a mutant will turn out to be
raph probably wouldn't be super uptight about swearing, provided the boys weren't offending anyone
there weren't any plans for romantic relationships (and DEFINITELY never an april-turtles love interest), but if they had ever tried something eventually it would've been with the same species
there were no specific plans for alopex, rita, or rennet, but anything's a possibility
in terms of the 1000 years ago krang/mystic timeline, the spaceship crashed first (possibly spawning the yokai), and other krang followed it, drawing in the invasion
that seems to be about it but if there's any more i'll do a reblog with additions

My Hero - Mikey x fem!reader
requested? yes/no
“Well i just found your blog and im super excited to see where this goes! My request is April has a cousin the turtles have heard of but never met and before they finally do she warns them that shes a little reserved, keeps to herself but over time when she warms up shes super dorky and like mikey? Idk if that makes sense. Just some fluffy michelangelo x reader 😅”
a/n: My first request! I was sooo excited for this one! I kinda took it in a different direction, but I tried to keep it as close to your request as possible. I can’t wait to write all of the other requests you guys have sent me!
warnings: none :)
“Oh my God, that movie was crazy!” April exclaimed.
You had just moved back to New York two weeks prior, and your favorite redheaded cousin invited you to see a movie with her and her boyfriend friend, Casey–much to his dismay–which you’d been thankful for; April was the only person you knew at school.
As someone who tended to keep to yourself, April was aware of your anti-social tendencies, and she’d do everything to avoid it. She was determined to make New York City actually feel like home.
“Eh,” Casey shrugged. “It was alright. I don’t really see the hype.”
April rolled her eyes. “Don't pretend that we didn’t see you jump at all the jump-scares, Casey.”
Casey grinned. “You paying attention that closely to me, Red? You must like me or something.”
You couldn’t help but giggle as you watched the two bicker back and forth.
“Shut it, Jones,” she rolled her eyes.
A crash behind you made the three of you jump and turn around instinctively. Though, nothing could be visible.
“What the hell was that?” you muttered to yourself. The eery streets of the city at night had yet to make you feel welcome.
Suddenly, what had looked like slender robots in black robes began sprinting toward you three, jumping out behind trash cans and street corners. Your heart sank to your stomach at the scene in front of you, your body frozen in shock.
“Footbots!” April screamed, exchanging looks with Casey. “Casey, get Y/n back home, I’ll handle them!”
Casey raised his eyebrows. “What?! No way, Red! You go home with Y/n, I’ll handle it.” He grabbed one of his hockey sticks and charged at the Footbots, leaving you not knowing what to do.
April grabbed what looked like a steel fan from her pocket and began fighting as well; it was a sight you never thought you’d ever see.
“Y/n, run!” April shouted over the sounds of steel against steel, and hockey sticks against cement.
You began running in the opposite direction of the chaos, in the direction of your home. Though it’d take about another ten minutes to get there, you were eager to do anything you had to get away from what you'd just witnessed.
You weren’t able to get far before one of the robots appeared in front of you, causing you to stumble back onto the cement. Your eyes wide with fear, staring at the huge being towering over you with a sword in hand. As it raised its sword, a blade sliced across its torso with a quickness you would have missed if you weren’t watching so intently. As the robot’s body fell in half onto the pavement in front of you, another being with green skin and a blue mask appeared, holding the katana that had saved your life.
“Woah,” was all you could manage, staring at it. Green speckled skin, a plastron and a shell...was it a turtle?
It left, fighting off the rest of the bots with three more that looked just like it, all with different colored masks and different weapons. Your heart was racing, you could feel your body pulsating with the very beat of your heart as the fight ensued.
“Guys,” one of them spoke up. “Splinter’s not gonna be too happy about another human knowing about us.”
They can talk?
The four turtles and your two friends looked your way as your eyes rolled back and you felt your head hit the pavement before falling into unconsciousness.
You woke up in your bed, your redheaded cousin sitting at the foot of your bed. You groaned, your hand going to the back of your head where gauze had been placed.
“Y/n,” April began, her voice soft. “We need to talk.”
“What happened last night?” you moaned, your vision spinning as the pain in the back of your head increased.
She grabbed a glass of water on your nightstand and handed it to you.
“Here,” she kept her hands on your own to ensure that you were holding it tight enough, tipping it back as you gulped.
She stared down at her fingers, fumbling with them. This was a nervous habit you’d remembered your cousin having for as long as you could remember. But why would she be nervous, you thought to yourself.
“Last night–”
“I saw something,” you interrupted. “Or some things,” you corrected, goosebumps rising along your arms as you thought about the turtles.
April sighed. “I know.”
You furrowed your eyebrows. “What exactly were they? And what was attacking us?”
And so she began.
She told you everything; the turtles, Master Splinter, Shredder, the Kraang, mutagen. It was a moment of trust, a moment of trusting in one of her favorite people–one of the only people she had left.
“And now that you’re going to be living here,” April began.
“Then I should learn how to defend myself,” you finished for her.
She nodded, letting out a sympathetic sigh. “I’m so sorry for dragging you into this.”
You shook your head, grabbing her hands to hold within your own. “’United we stand, divided we fall’,” you quoted, a quote both your parents had said to you multiple times as children. “If you need another addition to your army, then count me in.”
As you both walked through the tunnels of the sewers, you kept your nose plugged.
“Does the smell get any better?” you groaned.
She nodded. “You get used to it; I had to live down here for a few weeks.”
You nearly gagged at the thought, before entering the lair.
There they were, once again. The red masked one was punching a large punching bag, the blue masked one was sitting in front of a television whilst the orange masked one sat next to him, pizza in hand. Pizza?! The fourth one was nowhere in sight.
April gestured. “Y/n, these are the turtles,” she pointed to the red masked one, “that’s Raph,” she pointed to the blue masked one, “Leo,” she pointed to the orange masked one, “Mikey,” she paused, looking around.
“Where’s Don-”
“Hi, April!” a voice exclaimed, nearly scurrying over to you both with a blush painted on his cheeks.
She rolled her eyes playfully. “And, that’s Donnie.”
Supposedly, after getting permission to bring you to the lair from Master Splinter, she’d warned them that you were coming.
Leo looked over, his eyes finally peeling away from his show with a smile. “How’s your head feeling?” he asked, walking toward you.
You shrugged, gently blushing at the sudden attention. “It’s, uh, better now, but I don't think I hit it too hard to begin with.”
“Actually,” Donnie spoke, “the impact wasn’t enough to cause a lot of bleeding, but it'll be bruised for the next couple of days.”
You frowned. “W-were you the one who took care of my head?”
He nodded, invisible eyebrows furrowed in query.
“Oh, thanks,” you said softly, “it’s healing really fast.”
He blushed, about to say something in return before his orange-masked brother interrupted him by running up to you.
“Well,” Mikey began, “I was the one who saved you a slice of pizza!”
The gang groaned in disgust; the slice of pizza had lint, worms, and an undetectable bug species sitting on top of the cheese.
“Mikey, did you get that from under your bed?!” Leo scoffed.
Mikey smirked. “Mayybeee,” he eyed the slice. “It’s still good though, I think.”
He grinned at you, but could see the disgust in your appearance. He hung his head. “I guess I’ll just eat it,” he sighed.
You felt horrible, but in all honesty, the sight alone made your stomach churn.
“Y/n,” you heard, distracting you from the moldy pizza.
You looked up, seeing the one and only Master Splinter. He looked completely different than how you’d pictured him in your head; he was much taller than you expected. He walked closer to you, until you were just feet apart.
“April has told me a lot about you,” he began, his voice soothing to the ear. “I hope that you fulfill my wish to keep my sons and I a secret.”
You nodded. “Of course, urm, Master Splinter.”
He nodded, before calling the turtles to train with him.
“See you latah, Dudette,” Mikey bid with a wink, before running off to train with his brothers.
April looked at you, an eyebrow cocked at the deep blush on your cheeks.
“What?” you asked shyly.
“Nothing, Dudette,” April mocked with a grin.
You began to spend multiple days of the week at the lair with April and Casey, even bringing your homework down there after school; Master Splinter offered to train you, and you obliged. Mikey would be over your shoulder, asking you questions about your homework even after Leo had told him to give you some personal space.
But you began to feel comfortable with the turtles, and you started to open up and reveal your personality.
“Hey Mikey,” you announced, walking up to him in the kitchen. “Want to go train with me?”
You could have sworn that his pupils grew the size of bowling balls, and he was there with his nunchucks in no time.
You began training with the turtles, almost always with Mikey, though he refused to fight back or hit you. You’d share a pizza after, watch television, and eventually take a nap before he’d have to leave for patrol.
“You’re getting so good, Dudette!” he exclaimed after training, shoveling pizza slices into his mouth.
You blushed. “Thanks, Mikey...” You rolled your eyes as you watched him finish the box to himself. “Do we really have to eat pizza everyday?”
“Yesss,” he said in a sing-song voice. “I love days like this; it’s my two favorite things!”
You furrowed your eyebrows. “What?”
“You and pizza, duh!”
Your cheeks heated up, and you pressed a kiss onto his green freckled cheek.
“Thanks, Mikey. You know, if it weren't for you and your brothers saving me from those Footbots, then I wouldn't even be here,” you pointed out.
He grinned. “That makes me, like, a hero!”
You planted a kiss onto his lips, causing him to nearly melt into the floor.
“My hero,” you corrected.

Across the Stars - Ch.14
Hoooooolyyy fuuuuuuuuckinngg shiiiiiiIIIIIIiiiiiiTTTTtttt
I am so sorry for the long wait. This chapter actually went through a lot of changes, especially for the ending. At first it was supposed to feature April and Casey, but decided at the last second to change it for Mikasa. And it’s so much better. It also took me a while to get past one scene, unsure about how I would end it and make things follow suit. ANYWAY. NOW IT’S DONE, I can finally move on x’D Thank you for sticking up with my slow writer’s ass HAHA <3
First Chapter --> HERE Previous Chapter --> HERE Next Chapter --> HERE
Perfection. Precision. Steady breath. Strike. Vee never thought martial arts training could be so stress relieving. Sure, she had her clumsy moments, almost falling or slapping herself by accident, but she had potential – as Master Splinter would often say. At first it had been simple trainings about postures and balance, but now she was starting to use weapons... at least non-lethal ones! Her first weapon was a bo staff, which highly amused her. Splinter told her that it would help her coordination, but also provide her a certain knowledge of Donatello's weapon, if the need was ever to use it. Tonight seemed like an usual training session; Vee starting to stretch and prepare herself in the dojo, until the rat made an announcement: ''I hope you won't mind if I've asked for some help for today's training.'' Vee's brows were lightly furrowed. ''Who-?'' Her question was instantly stopped as she noticed Mikasa enter the dojo. She was already dressed for training, her hair up in a high ponytail and a soft smile on her lips as Vee would only show a surprised look – her eyes wide. ''I wanted some human input on your training, as I am mostly used to teaching mutants,'' continued Splinter. ''And since Mikasa is already a teacher herself, I couldn't have asked for a better choice.'' ''Don't worry, I won't go too hard on you,'' started Mikasa, putting down a duffel bag she had been holding. ''I first want to test what you've learned and then I'll adjust in consequences.'' She grabbed a staff, throwing it to Vee, the artist grasping it just in time with a small ''oof''. ''Show me your holding position,'' she added next. Vee snorted a small laugh, getting in place. Splinter was seated on the side, patiently watching as he was curious to see how things would unfold. As the other woman was circling around her, the artist smirked. ''Well … hi! Getting down to business pretty fast, I see,'' she commented. Mikasa stopped for a split second, a short sigh escaping her as she gently moved Vee's arm to a better position. ''Sorry, I completely forgot to say hi,'' said the teacher. ''I'm currently in my 'work' mindset and usually it's straight to the point. Please don't take it wrong.'' ''Not at all, I'm not much into small talk anyway!'' ''Good. As soon as Leo told me master Splinter wanted my input, I could only accept. I've been meaning to spend some time with you and ask you questions anyway.'' ''Oh? What questions?'' ''That's for later,'' Mikasa gently tapped the other's shoulder in an appreciative gesture. ''All good! You seem at ease with that weapon.'' ''It's like holding a broom, but fancier,'' joked Vee. She did not miss the smile on the other's face, but soon enough the teacher was back to a serious tone. Mikasa stood a little apart, though facing Vee. ''Show me your overhead front strike.'' Easy enough. A simple strike of bringing the staff over your head and rapidly bringing it forward while keeping a rather straight composure. Vee had no difficulty with those. ''Overhead rib strike, both sides.'' Ah shoot, spoke too soon. That one was a bit trickier for a beginner, Vee getting into a slight horse riding stance. She had to bring the staff horizontally overhead, then spin it to one side so it would stop at her ribs, right under her armpit. It was good for one side, but then doing the motion to bring it to the other side often was confusing, the whole 'spinning the staff' shenanigan a real coordination feat. ''Front thrust.'' Vee's feet instantly got in position, holding the staff horizontally before her and close, then stretching her whole self to one side, jabbing the staff in a final motion. ''Good, now combine the three.'' Vee blanked for two seconds, rapidly coming up with the most logical combination. She first started with the rib strikes, transitioning to the overhead strike and concluding with the front thrust. Her movements were surprisingly precise, her breathing accompanying her strikes. She smiled shyly as she regained a neutral stance, looking up to Mikasa, awaiting her comments. The teacher smiled in return, moving forward. ''You're still a beginner, but there's some good points here and there. Good positions, you seem well grounded on your feet. Hands coordination could use a little more work, but that was predictable.'' ''Glad to hear I'm not too much of a lost cause,'' ligthly laughed Vee, still regaining her breath. Mikasa grabbed a staff, coming near Vee. ''Oh believe me, there's never any lost causes. Perfection come in due time.'' She swiftly combined some strikes until stopping her weapon near Vee's neck, smirking. ''Now let's dance!'' *** ''You and that tall one, Donatello.... You guys are a couple, right?'' As the training was now over, both women were finally alone in the dojo, doing post-workout stretches. That question seemed to come out of nowhere, but the artist knew the other must have been curious for a while. ''Indeed,'' answered Vee with a smile. ''Since January, but we knew eachothers months before then.'' Mikasa seemed to hesitate with her next words: ''What brought you two together, if it's okay to ask?'' Vee shrugged, somehow amused: ''It all came naturally. I mean, I feel good by his side, so does he. We share many interests and the attraction was there. It's just like any normal relationship.'' ''But he's so different, they all are...'' Both were now seated down on the floor, facing one another. Even in this position Mikasa was standing taller than Vee, her straight, serious position funnily contrasting with her confused, yet eager eyes. ''Beauty is in the eye of the beholder,'' added in the artist. ''I don't see his shape or difference as an obstacle, but rather as a strength – a unique thing. I love Donatello the way he is, who he is. Isn't that good enough?'' Mikasa showed a small smile: ''It's more than enough. I guess I'm still trying to wrap my head around all of this. Ever since I've met Leonardo, a lot of thoughts have crossed my mind...'' ''How are things between you and him, if you don't mind me asking?'' The other sighed, somehow shy all of a sudden. ''Strange? I don't know, it's hard to explain... There's something about him, a certain aura surrounding him. It's powerful, it's magnetic...'' ''Do you think he likes you?'' Vee asked, showing a smirk. A blush suddenly showed up on Mikasa's face, her hands fumbling together. ''Maybe.... I won't deny that things got close at some moments, especially when we were training together. A part of me really wants something to happen, but the other part is just so scared.'' ''Don't overthink it,'' added Vee in a sweet tone. ''Trust me, it will just complicate things. … The best thing to do is simply to let things go and see where it leads. If something is meant to happen, it will. I've been in this exact same position.'' The artist couldn't help feeling amused about this whole situation, suddenly knowing how April must have felt when she would herself express her incertitude regarding Donatello. There was no denying that any type of relationship with those mutants would certainly lead to something out of the ordinary, but it was best not to forget that they were also living, breathing, intelligent beings with emotions and all. Vee could see all that and she knew she wouldn't be the only one... Mikasa was the first one to get up, followed by the other. She still had that slight blush on her face, her smile never fading. ''I guess time will tell,'' she started. ''So far I appreciate this friendship I have with him and I do hope I'll be able to say the same about you and I.'' Vee was surprised for a couple of seconds, though easily returning the smile. ''Of course! I'd be glad to call you a friend as well.'' Both women were now making their way out of the dojo. As soon as they got past the door, they froze as they saw Leo make his way to the room. The turtle also stopped, his gaze already stuck on Mikasa and a small smile appearing. ''Hey,'' he greeted sweetly. The teacher seemed to blush even more, which highly amused Vee. She gently nudged the other, smirking: ''I've gotta go. Now you two be nice, alright?'' Mikasa tried to hush the other, although she was giggling a little. Vee took that as her cue to quickly salute the two of them, next moving away. She prefered to give them as much time and space together, knowing something would probably bloom out of it at some point. *** As she made her way towards Donatello's workspace and lab after the training, she couldn't help her smirk. It was his attention to little details that always made things so interesting about his environment. A lighted up 'On Air' sign that was always on whenever he was working in the lab part. The radio playing some 80's rock music in the background, this time being You Shook Me All Night Long by AC/DC – never too loud to be overwhelming. Sometimes Vee couldn't help being amused at how sucked up in his work Donnie could be, hardly noticing her presence. She admitted being the same at times, getting surprised by others on many occasions. The turtle was hunched over his microscope, observing something through the lense. Vee took this chance to walk up behind him, seeing that he wasn't wearing all his technical gear, and simply started to tap some light rhythms on his shell. Unlike her, he never jumped or got scared. He would only redress himself, already on the lookout for who was behind. ''Did you know that turtle shells can be used as a percussive instrument?'' asked Vee, signaling her presence. Donnie was smiling, turning to face the woman. ''That would certainly imply that it'd be ripped from me and emptied, so I will kindly ask that you do not do that to me, please.'' ''Aww, man, I can't start my tribal music band!'' joked the woman. ''I'd be insanely popular with such a huge shell.'' ''Sorry to be a one package deal. That shell will stay a part of me, whether you like it or not!'' ''Oh I like it very much, alright,'' she added, next bringing out a hair tie as she proceeded to lift her hair up in a bun. She watched the mutant move around, getting to a small box and finally taking out the woman's cellphone. He handed it to her, the screen as good as new. ''It wasn't too much trouble I hope?'' asked Vee as she was finishing her task. ''Meh, I had several screen replacements in my stuff so all I had to do was to look through them and find the right size.'' Vee finally took back the phone, patiently looking at the screen. ''I've also upgraded the firewalls 'cause, you know, wouldn't want people to find about me and my bros,'' he added. ''Also it's for preventive protection.'' ''Preventive?'' asked the woman, arching an eyebrow. ''Well, with the Foot clan back in action and all the other enemies we have, I wouldn't want you to get into trouble...'' ''Ain't that thoughtful,'' smiled Vee. ''The Foot clan won't be able to read my text messages or see that I previously searched for images of kittens. How sad!'' Donnie puffed a small laugh, leaning against the nearby table, arms crossed. ''Better be prepared for anything. That simple thing may sound ridiculous to you, but you'd be surprised to witness as to what extent evildoers like them can go to.'' ''Don't worry, I trust you,'' added the other as she got nearer to the mutant, her hands and fingers tenderly trailing his arms. ''I actually feel a lot better knowing we're prepared. My trainings plus everything you do for me.... I really appreciate it.'' How could he resist her sweetness? His hands moved so they could rest at her hips, keeping her close. ''Everything for you, my dear. You're so important to me, anyway.'' A blush appeared on Vee's traits, her smile ever so soft now. ''How's your training going?'' asked the turtle next. ''I heard you've been trying some weapons now for a couple of sessions.'' ''Yes! In fact my first one is the bo staff.'' Donnie's eyes widened a bit: ''Oh really? I won't say I'm surprised, but I still am nonetheless.'' ''Your father wants me to be able to use yours in case of need, also he's making sure that I won't cut myself by using a blade. I have a bad tendency to slap my body with certain moves.'' She gestured her sides and her outer thighs. ''I have some bruises to remind me of that.'' ''Want me to kiss them better?'' asked the other with an amused grin. ''Absolutely!'' smirked the artist. ''But first, I have something for you.'' She moved out of his hold, getting to a bag she had left earlier near his computer desk. She grabbed something, her smile forever present as she got back to the mutant, hiding something in her hands until the very last moment. It was two keychains, matching ones. ''I bought this some days ago, but completely forgot to give you one,'' she explained. ''It's cheesy, but I like it!'' They were referencing Star Wars as one of the keychains had the words ''I love you'' engraved in it, while the other had ''I know''. Donnie couldn't help a small laugh, his smile ever so sweet. ''Dammit, why are you so cute?'' ''Because you are as well,'' answered Vee with a renewed smirk. ''So, which one do you want?'' ''I'm gonna be a smartass and take the 'I know' one. My bros will never know what it really means and it will assert my brain dominance over them.'' ''Oof, badass Donnie. I like that,'' joked Vee in a teasing way. But the fun stopped right in its tracks as an alarm started to sound off from one of Donnie's computers. The couple frowned, already going towards the screens. A map of the city was now showing, something blinking near the docks of Pier 57, one that was presumably empty of activity as it was mostly occupied by construction and the renovation of an old building. ''What the fuck are they up to now?'' mumbled the terrapin, already tapping on his keyboard to get better coordinates. ''Woh, language,'' commented Vee, amused. She did not miss the smile on his face as he continued tapping. Vee watched as the map was zooming in, but ultimately gave a warning message: 'CAMERAS OFFLINE'. ''What?!'' That remark of his made Vee slightly jump. ''What's happening? What's wrong?'' she inquired. ''The docks' surveillance cameras are offline. It just can't be, they never are!'' ''Well, maybe there's a power outage? Anything!'' Donatello stopped, pensive as he frowned while still looking at his screens. ''… Even then, they would still be on thanks to an emergency power system. Those cameras belong to the city, they cannot afford to lose any footage.'' The woman tried to grab his attention, leaving a hand softly against his arm, trying to get a hold of his gaze: ''You think it's the Foot clan acting up again?'' His sigh told everything, knowing too well it was them. The mutant's hand got over hers, this simple touch helping him calm down, half of a soft smile showing on his lips as he looked down to her. ''Most probably. They'd be ingenious enough to do something like that. … I guess it means my brothers and I have to pay them a little visit!'' ''Be careful, okay?'' That instantly surprised Donnie, somehow touched by her concern. ''I'm always careful!'' he answered, amused. ''I know! …  Just accept my concerns! I know I sound cheesy as hell, but I love you. … A lot.'' Gosh, why was she so perfect? For a split second he forgot about everything – his screens a distant memory. Instead he was now gently cupping her face, giving her a sweet kiss. The way she would enrapture his heart, render him oblivious to the whole world, he could only define her as a siren, a sorceress, a vanquisher of souls! Vee could only giggle softly when they broke the kiss, pointing to the screens. ''Don't forget! The docks? The Foot? Do I need to imitate your alarm to remind you?'' ''Uh..., yes, yes, of course! I need to go.'' He did steal one last kiss before adding: ''Wish I wouldn't have to, though.'' ''Just go!'' laughed the woman once more. *** Seeing that Mikasa was also leaving for the night, Vee did not miss the chance to ask if she could accompany her, the teacher's presence a refreshing sight and addition to her life. The other did not mind at all, even happy that the artist would propose such thing. Bidding farewell to master Splinter, both women then went through the sewers, Mikasa stating that they would need to exit at a certain spot in order to get to her ride. ''A ride?'' questionned Vee. ''A motorcycle, to be exact,'' pointed the teacher. ''Now that winter is out, I can finally ride back on the street. I've been waiting all season to get it out, now I won't hold back!'' Vee could only smile, knowing she wasn't that surprised by that side of Mikasa's life. The tall woman's everyday wear seem to consist of mostly black leather jackets, either skinny jeans or leggings, tank tops or t-shirts. She looked like a woman of action, never wearing extravageant clothing in order to get ready for any eventualities. A motorcycle could only complement her lifestyle. Pushing against a manhole cover with her duffel bag, Mikasa opened the way to an alley, next helping Vee get out and give her a view on the vehicule. The body was slick, built for speed and precision. The main color was of a pure black, but accentuated with gold trims here and there and right above the front wheel. Vee was instantly amused when she noticed the word 'Ninja' written near the handles. ''That's a Kawasaki Ninja 400, pearl solar yellow colored,'' started Mikasa, now next to it and patting the vehicule proudly. ''A six-speed transmission equipped with an assist-and-slipper clutch that helps to keep you in line; this baby never failed me so far.'' ''I have no knowledge of motorcycles, so what you just said sounded very impressive anyway,'' laughed Vee. ''Want a ride home?'' Vee couldn't hide her grin: ''Oh hell yes!'' A helmet got tossed into her hands, Mikasa then already taking place on the driver's seat. ''What about you? No helmet?'' said the artist as she put hers on. ''You're wearing mine,'' simply answered the other. ''And, anyway, I consider myself a good driver. It's not because I'm not wearing my helmet one time that it'll mean an instant catastrophe.'' ''Well that's reassuring,'' added Vee, somehow amused. Passengers and bags duly placed, Mikasa next turned on the motorcycle, revving up the engine just for the thrill of it. She looked over to Vee, showing a smirk. ''Scared?'' ''Ha!'' laughed the other. ''More driving and less talking.'' That answer was good enough for the black haired woman to finally get on the move, Vee instantly hooking her arms around the other out of reflex. Exiting the alleyway and rushing to the street, the vehicule's roaring motor was good enough to rise a feeling of thrill in Vee. She couldn't contain her excitement as she laughed once more and cheered. She had always craved those type of adrenaline rushes, heights and speed being some of her greatest enjoyments in life. Going through New York's streets seemed so much easier on a motorcycle than with a car! Mikasa was at complete ease when going through the traffic, moving effortlessly and in fluid lines. Both women did not notice yet the black van that had started to follow, getting nearer at each traffic lights. At some point Vee could feel a constant pressure at the back of her head, that familiar sensation when you knew someone was watching.... She dared look slightly behind when they were stopped at a red light, noticing the other vehicule and how the windows were tinted, offering no clear sign of who was inside. ''I have a bad feeling,'' started the artist loud enough for the other to hear. She could see Mikasa's hands gripping the handles a little tighter. ''Yeah, me too.... That van has been following us for some time now.'' ''Who do you think they are?'' ''I've seen it before around some of chinatown's bad spots. It must belong to the Purple Dragons.'' Vee gulped, her body suddenly tensing up. She knew this was bound to happen. Not even Leo's plan could have stopped that, she was well aware. The light was about to change color when Mikasa said: ''Hold on tight, I'll try to lose them.'' ''You sure about that?!'' ''Trust me.'' The artist had no time to reply that the light shifted to green and the other roared her motorcycle to life and in an instant race. How she would sway inbetween the cars had Vee scared in an instant, but she could only feel relief at the same time as she glanced over her shoulder and noticed that the van was way behind. Mikasa was not slowing down, knowing the farther she'd be, the better. And that's when they thought they were distanced enough, three motorcycles jumped in, already chasing down the two women. ''Shit!'' spat Mikasa as she noticed a red light ahead and heavy traffic. Vee's blood boiled with adrenaline when she felt the other speed up. She could feel her embrace tightening around the driver as Mikasa's quick reflexes had her moving towards parked cars on the sideway and making her motorcycle climb upon the vehicules in order to boost her up in a high jump. She thought it'd be good enough to discourage her trackers, but she only growled when she noticed the others being as skillful drivers as her. ''Where are the turtles?'' she said loudly so Vee could hear her. ''Pier 57!'' ''Fuck, that's too far!'' She took a sharp turn to an alley, knowing exactly where she had to head next. The tight space amplified the motor's sound, dizzing Vee even more. Everything felt like a strange dream – or rather a nightmare – her heart loudly thumping in her ears and throat. ''Where are we going?'' was able to ask the artist. ''Getting help,'' simply answered the other, expertedly maneuvering her ride across streets and alleys. Vee could still see their followers behind, her mind trying to piece how they were able to find her. She was no one! She had kept her head low and was careful not to dwelve into risky places. But then it hit her; what about Mikasa? Was the teacher involved in something more? Was she the Purple Dragons' next target? Vee's thoughts shifted once she noticed their new environement: neon lights, cluttered alleys and almost no living souls in sight. Various signs were written in kanjis and other asian scriptures, Vee wondering for a moment if they were in some secret part of chinatown. Mikasa moved her motorcycle on a ramp, making the vehicule jump over a fence, but this time she miscalculated her trajectory as a wheel bumped against a trash bin and got the two women flying off directly to the ground. Vee was glad for wearing a helmet, her biggest injury being large scrapes on her palms and wrists. Her whole self was on high alert, promptly removing the helmet for a better vision, looking around only to spot Mikasa flat on the floor. The artist could hardly get on her feet, rather fumbling pathetically towards the woman. ''Mikasa!'' she called out. The teacher groaned, slightly shaking her head as she began to lift her upper body. A large scrape could be seen on the upper right side of her forehead, blood soon starting to drip. Vee knew they had to move, the echo of the other riders coming their way. She noticed Mikasa's ride layed to its side, probably scratched, thanks to the pavement. ''Mikasa, come on, we have to go,'' pressed Vee, although she knew the other might have troubles coming back to reason. Too late. The three gang members were already near their position, Vee already up on her feet as she wanted to get ready for any eventualities, placing herself before Mikasa. She couldn't see the others' faces as they were all wearing helmets, but she could easily see by their statures that they were way stronger than her. Her eyes glanced to the sides, rapidly exploring her possibilities. That's when she spotted a metal pole nearby, instantly grabbing it and readying herself, her stance slightly shaking. She knew she had no chances against them, but it was all she could do! As one of the strangers was about to give a hit, Vee was surprised by a hand grabbing the other's wrist, suddenly twisting his arm and forcing him down to the ground. Mikasa was now up and ready, a frown never leaving her features. ''The door with a golden cat sign, go knock it,'' said the teacher, standing in a defense position, facing her enemies. ''But-'' ''Go!'' Vee jumped, prefering to move. She rushed through the alley, franctically looking at the doors as battle sounds followed her. She finally spotted a neon sign of a golden cat, one paw going up and down at intervals. Without delay she started to bang against the door, sometimes her eyes diverting back to the fight scene many feet away. The door suddenly cracked open, an asian man wearing an apron looking at the woman fiercely, a chopping knife in hand. Vee was panicking, blabblering as she pointed towards the alley: ''Mikasa! She sent me here! She-'' She couldn't continue that the man's eyes widened a bit, stepping outside as he instantly looked towards the raucus. It took no time for him to shout something in Japanese back inside, finally rushing back with two other men, all of them hurrying to Mikasa. Vee wasn't moving, her eyes glued to the scene. Everything seemed to go both in slow motion and so rapidly at the same time. Mikasa and her helpers were moving like blurs, their movements fast and precise. The Purple Dragon men were soon enough on the ground, groaning in pain from their ass being kicked. Their wrists got tied behind their backs, as well as their ankles. Mikasa was already taking her phone out as she got to Vee, inviting her inside the open door by sliding an arm around her shoulders and keeping her close. The artist spotted the numbers 9-1-1 dialed on the screen, a sort of relief washing over her. She only started to calm down once she was seated at a table near a busy kitchen, a damp cloth given to her and her foggy thoughts mindlessly tasking the woman to clean her wounds. … What the hell just happened.
*** No visual in advance meant extra caution had to be put in place. It could've been hard to think that those tall turtles could ever be silent and stealthy, but that was forgetting their training as ninjas. The shadows forever felt like a second home; a place of security and certain protection. A broken window on the highest level of the abandonned building was the group's welcoming entrance, jumping in to a room dirtied by time and dust. A single nod and hand gestures from Leo was good enough for the brothers to part ways and explore the place for any traces of a soul. Silent footsteps had them all across the building, ultimately meeting to a large opened central room, patrolling the highest grounds that gave view to a spacious opening way down below. Windows at the ceiling were letting the nightlife's and moon's glow shine into the building. Nothing. The place was empty, silent, devoid of any life forms. Did Donatello's alarms betray him? The tall mutant did not hesitate to pull down his googles over his eyes so he could scan the place and detect any heat signature, other than his and his brothers'. He frowned as his technology proved him once more that no one was around. Jumping down to the lowest level and landing in the middle of the large room, creating a cloud of dust up in the air, he stood tall, still scanning around. Using his Bo staff, he tapped the cement ground in various directions, noticing how the echo was never disturbed by any unknown presence.
He was soon joined by Raphael, the red clad mutant frowning as well. ''I don't like this,'' he mumbled. Donnie brought up a holo screen, tapping on some commands only to stumble once more on the fact that he couldn't connect to the security cameras around the pier. ''I don't understand,'' started Donnie. ''Why all this setup? Why is there no one around? Why all those efforts to sabotage the cameras when there's nothing happening?...'' The purple clad turtle's thoughts were stopped when he heard the walkie-talkie on his right shoulder strap crack to life, Mikey's voice echoing through it: ''Guys, I think I found something. … Like, several remotes or I dunno.'' ''Coming your way,'' answered Donatello, already on the move with Raphael following. As they got to Michelangelo's position, they also met with Leonardo, the leader as curious as them. They found their brother with several devices in his arms, all with antennas and little lights pulsing here and there. ''They were scattered pretty much all around the building. I don't think I got them all,'' he said. Donnie took one of the devices, only needing a couple of seconds to observe it and know what it was. ''Camera jammers,'' he groaned. ''Of course. By placing enough of them around, they were able to block and disrupt the cameras' signal.'' ''Why though?'' questionned Leo. ''There's no one around and nothing seems good enough to steal or smuggle...'' ''A diversion, maybe?'' added in the orange clad mutant. Shit. That was a logical reasoning. Donnie's mind instantly thought of Vee, a feeling telling him something must have happened to her. Retreating a bit himself from the three others, he proceeded to call the woman, putting her on speaker. Please be ok, please be ok, please be- ''Yes?'' Good gosh, her voice was an instant relief, though the turtle still kept his concerns. ''Vee, where are you?'' ''Huh, funny you're asking... Wait, what is it called again? - Hey, Mikasa, what's the name again? … Oh, ok. - The Maneki Neko. It's some Japanese restaurant in chinatown.'' ''… Wh- what are you doing there?'' Donnie noticed the leader now next to him, having heard Mikasa's name being mentionned. Vee's laughter at the end of the line was shaky, as if trying to shake some feelings away. ''Right now? I'm just trying to calm the fuck down. We both got tracked by Purple Dragons after we got out of the sewers and they tried to kick our butts-'' ''What?!'' cut Donnie. His body tensed up. He could only curse himself for not thinking ahead... ''Don't worry, we're okay! Got some bruises after the motorcycle accident but that's no big deal.'' ''No big deal? For fuck's sake, Vee, you just got chased down by Purple Dragons while we were mislead to some dead end. There's nothing here, no one! This was a set up!'' ''… I don't know what to say, Donnie. Maybe it was indeed a set up. I have no idea. … I'm still a bit confused and shaken right now.'' The mutant sighed, trying to calm down. ''I know where the Maneki Neko is,'' added in Leonardo. ''Maybe we could swing by just to make sure they're okay...'' Donnie could notice the slight concern on the other's face, knowing his thoughts might only be on Mikasa right now. ''… Stay where you are, Vee, we'll be right there,'' announced the tall mutant calmly. ''Wouldn't want to leave without you, anyway.'' *** Vee's mind was blanking ever since she ended the call, her eyes stuck on the various good luck cats scattered around the place, their little left paws swinging back and forth. The pain at her palms and wrists didn't seem to bother her much, mostly preoccupied by Mikasa's wound on her forehead. The cloth she was holding was now showing large red spots of blood, hoping to stop the bleeding at some point. As Vee's eyes were locked on the other, both women's gaze finally met up after a while, scanning their overall status. … And then they laughed quietly. All the tension and adrenaline washing away, they could finally wind down and realize that this was now all over. They were safe. ''I'm sorry,'' began Mikasa. ''For what?'' asked the artist, slightly confused, although still showing a small, friendly smile. ''All this shit that just happened. … If I hadn't bring you along, you'd be safe and sound.'' She lowered the cloth, her eyebrows slightly furrowing. ''… I know the Purple Dragons are after me.'' ''And why is that so? I thought they were also after me ever since April and I surprised them with the Foot clan one night.'' ''It's a bit complicated-'' She could not finish her sentence that the back door that led to the alleyway was knocked upon from outside. A voice rose, speaking in Japanese: ''Sore wa kamedesu. Doa o akeru.'' (It's the turtle. Open the door.) Vee recognized Leonardo's voice. Damn these guys were fast. The Japanese man that Vee first met earlier was the one to go back to the door. The artist shot a panic glare at Mikasa. ''He'll see him!'' she said through gritted teeth. The teacher was only smiling: ''Oh don't worry, the people here all know about Leo. This place is like some sort of a little hideout for him and I.'' The door opened and the blue clad leader was greeted with a respectful ''Leonardo-san''. Vee did not miss the man's surprised, if not amazed, look when the rest of the group got in. The place being already small, the artist could truly observe how giant the turtles were; especially how Donnie's head could almost reach the ceiling and how Raph's mass seemed like a litteral elephant in the room.
Once the purple clad mutant's eyes fell on Vee, he instantly got to her, kneeling down to her height in order to observe her every features. ''Please tell me they didn't touch you,'' he mumbled mostly for himself as his hands cautiously moved her head around, trying to spot any bruises. ''I'm alright, Don,'' tried to reassure Vee. He finally got to her arms, seeing the large scrapes at her palms and wrists. ''How'd you got that?!'' ''The motorcycle accident. Remember I mentionned that? … But Mikasa has it worse, in my opinion.'' Donnie's gaze snapped to the other woman, noticing her forehead. Leonardo had already noticed Mikasa's state, his frown forever present. ''What did you do this time?'' he asked Vee with a stern voice. The artist was slightly taken aback by the leader's tone: ''What do you mean? I did nothing! I kept following your plan and this happened.'' ''There must be a reason why the Purple Dragons found you!'' ''I did nothing!'' repeated Vee. Donnie was already up at that point, staring down his brother as a warning. But that did not shake away Leo's frustration. ''Then all of this is nothing?'' he spat. ''You're both hurt, Vee. The Purple Dragons knew where you were and they clearly mislead us in order to get to you. How is that nothing?!'' ''Yamero!'' All eyes were now on Mikasa, the woman up and frowning at the blue clad leader. Everything was silent and still for some seconds, the only noticeable motion being the many lucky cats statues waving their little paws. ''If you have to put the blame on someone for this, put it on me,'' added the teacher in a firm tone. ''Vee has nothing to do with this. I know you trust her and now you do this? ... I was the one the Purple Dragons were looking for. I caused this because I did not take enough precautions.'' ''Mikasa, wh-'' ''No, let me speak.'' she cut. ''I was foolish enough to think I could do this alone, but clearly it's not the case. … I was investigating on the Purple Dragons ever since we met and you told me about them. They're already an infamous gang around here, I thought my knowledge could serve you. I must have dug a little too deep and they found out about me.'' ''Then why didn't you say anything?'' asked Leonardo. ''I didn't want you to worry and I didn't want you to interfere. … You let your emotions dictate you when in panic and that is not a good thing. You would have compromised things even more.'' ''Ha! I like this girl,'' commented Raph, unable to keep it for himself. Leo tried to disregard everything, slowly breathing in, calming his thoughts. ''… Fair enough. What did you find?'' ''Vee and April were right; the Purple Dragons and the Foot clan are now working together. Ever since Karai got out of prison, she's acting as their surrogate leader, planning heists on important amounts of tech and weapons. I've also heard talks about testing you four.'' ''Testing? In what manner?'' questionned Donatello. ''I'm not sure. I couldn't get enough information on that, but so far it seems like they want to know how you guys work, what are your tactics...'' ''That's probably why they were so easy to find and to battle sometimes,'' added in Mikey. ''They were foolin' us all along and we were dumb enough to fall into this,'' grunted Raphael. The leader was silent, clearly deep in thoughts. ''Leo... you guys have to lay low for a while,'' continued Mikasa. ''There's something wrong about all of this and you have to confuse them. Going at them will only make things worse.'' ''We're ninjas, don't underestimate us,'' spat back Leo. The teacher moved closer to him, gently leaving her hands on his arms, catching his gaze in hers. ''I don't. But you need to think this through.'' The blue clad mutant sighed, his traits softening as he glanced once more at the woman's bruise. … She was right. He couldn't stop himself from gently cupping Mikasa's face, both closing their eyes as the turtle gently nuzzled the top of her head. He kept repeating soft ''I'm sorry'' to her, forever feeling stupid for what both women must have been through. He didn't want to aggravate things, prefering to call it a night and exit the place, knowing he and his brothers were just cluttering it by their sole presence. As the group was now outside in the alley, Leo did not miss the chance to bring Vee aside, a slight look of worry on his face. ''… I shouldn't have spoke to you like that,'' he began. ''Mikasa is right, I tend to let my emotions overcome me when in panic and I shouldn't unleash it like that...'' ''I know it's not easy,'' said Vee. ''But I was able to forgive you the first time. Now it's a bit harder. … You obviously don't trust me enough.'' ''I do trust you!'' his shoulders seemed to fall, feeling weak. ''… Look, I'm still trying to wrap my head around a lot of things right now. But what I do know for sure is that you are now family; and sometimes arguments do happen. That does not mean that I value you any less. … Is there anything I could do to redeem myself?'' Vee showed half of a smile: ''Listen to Mikasa more often. She might actually be a good influence on you at some point. Then that might make things better.'' He agreed to her point, offering a smile in return. He then left a hand on her shoulder, his smile now soft and sincere. ''I'm glad you're okay, both of you.'' ''Likewise. I just hope all this bullshit could stop at some point.'' ''You're reading my mind,'' lightly laughed the leader. Their line of thought was interrupted once they heard Raphael and Michelangelo's voices praising Mikasa's motorcyle – even though it was now scratched on one side, thanks to the pavement. As Leo was back at the black haired woman's side, Donnie was now next to Vee's, observing her palms once more, softly massaging her hands. ''You need to get these healed or else it'll leave some nasty marks on your skin...'' One of his hands did move to her cheek, diverting her gaze to his. ''… How are you feeling right now?'' ''I'm alright, Donnie. Even more since you're here. Don't worry,'' softly answered the artist with a smile. ''I was so scared when I realized they tricked us,'' he confessed. ''I can't imagine what would happen if-'' ''It's over, Don,'' reassured Vee. ''Don't start thinking about that. I'm here...'' A relieved sigh escaped him, bringing the other nearer so he could tenderly place a kiss on top of her head. He didn't want to release her, her sweet scent good enough to calm him. ''Can I stay with you tonight?'' he asked only for her to hear. ''Please do,'' answered Vee. ''I was about to ask the same anyway!'' She needed to feel safe, she needed to hold on to someone throughout the night. She knew she would hardly sleep tonight, the endless possibilities playing in her mind... But right now Donatello was here and she knew nothing and no one would ever harm her in any way. That she knew was the absolute truth.

Tumblr media
Donatello sat at the kitchen table, absentmindedly drumming his fingers on the surface. His plate of pizza sitting forgotten in front of him. Raph and Casey were seated across the table, busy arguing over the latest Knicks game while Mikey stuffed his face with pizza while having a friendly debate with April over whether hand tossed or pan pizza was the superior pie. Donnie barely heard any of it. His eyes kept wandering from his watch to the door of the lair and back again. Leo had been gone for quite some time and it was beginning to really eat at him. With every minute that ticked by, the nervous knot in his stomach wound tighter. His brother was only supposed to check on you and make sure you really were alright and report back his findings. He couldn’t imagine what could possibly be taking so long.
“Hey...”
A gentle hand on his forearm made him jump in surprise. Donnie turned his head to see April looking at him with a concerned expression on her lovely face. Normally, her touch and close proximity would have sent a pleasant shiver straight through him. Right now, however, all he was capable of feeling was a deep concern for you and the uncertain status of your relationship. He blinked at her, “I’m sorry, April...what did you say?”
April bit her lip worriedly. It wasn’t like Donnie to zone out and it especially wasn’t like him to ignore her. “I asked if you were alright. You seem like you’re a million miles away.”
“Oh,” Donnie chuckled but it lacked any real humor. “I’m fine just...uh...thinking about a project I’m working on,” he lied. He didn’t know how to adequately express his fear that he’d somehow drove the person closest to him away.
“Oh,” April smiled, completely oblivious to the turtle’s inner turmoil, and gave his arm a squeeze. “What kind of project?”
“Um,” Donatello wracked his brain, trying to visualize the many half-finished experiments that littered his workbench. Finally, he stuttered out the first thing that came to mind, “It’s a perpetual energy generator based loosely on Nikola Tesla‘s fuel less generator schematics...”
April’s eyes clouded over slightly, the woman obviously having no clue what he was talking about. Still, her smile widened, “Well, it sounds brilliant, just like you...”
“Th-thanks,” Donatello stuttered, his face heated at the compliment but he suddenly felt quite uncomfortable. He couldn’t enjoy April’s company when he very well may be losing you. He carefully extricated himself from April’s grasp and quickly stood from the table causing her to frown. “I’m, uh...I should probably head to the lab.” He fidgeted, “You know, get back to work while I’m feeling inspired...”
“Oh, uh, sure,” April nodded, utterly confused by the terrapin’s suddenly standoffish demeanor. “Need any help? It’s been a while since we worked on anything together.”
“No,” Donatello blurted a bit more forcefully than he intended. He internally cringed at April’s surprised expression but he needed to be alone with his thoughts. In a softer tone he added, “There’s lots of, uh, volatile compounds. It’s probably safer if you didn’t.”
“Oh...okay...” April reluctantly agreed as the turtle turned to take his leave. “Maybe another time then?”
“Yeah...Maybe,” Donnie called back over his shoulder as he practically fled to the solitude of his lab. “Thanks for the pizza!”
“But you didn’t even eat any of it,” April huffed under her breath as the ninja disappeared from sight leaving her completely baffled.
No sooner had Donatello secured the door to the lab behind him, he’d collapsed into his chair and reached for his phone. No missed calls and no new messages from you or Leo. Surely, he thought, if there’d been an issue or had you not been alright, Leo would have let him know. His brother knew how worried he’d been. How could he not be worried when his very best friend in the entire world suddenly decided they wanted nothing to do with him? He couldn’t for the life of him figure out where your relationship had jumped the tracks but he would have given anything to fix it.
Honestly, he hadn’t realized just what a huge part of his life you were until you suddenly weren’t around for him to talk to and confide in. Guilt gnawed at him because he knew that meant he’d taken you for granted. It’s just that...it was so easy to settle in and be comfortable around you that he really hadn’t given it much thought. He hadn’t needed to. The two of you just clicked. You were pleasant and easy to talk to. You enjoyed the same types of music and movies, you both loved to read and often swapped books, you both loved learning new things and, though science and technology were not your strongest subject, you showed a genuine interest and fascination in his work that he was both appreciative for and proud of. When he was with you, he wasn’t a mutant turtle living in the sewers and you weren’t a human girl cavorting with monsters. You were simply two close friends enjoying one another’s company and sharing the joy you found in your common interests.
God, he missed you.
The intensity of his lonesomeness surprised him. Sure, he had his brothers and April...even Casey, but they weren’t a replacement for you. The pair of you had grown incredibly close since that fateful night they’d rescued you from a pair of thugs who’d knocked you unconscious and dragged you into a dark alleyway to do God only knew what with you. It had never dawned on him at the time that those first few tentatively awkward moments between you would blossom into such closeness and camaraderie. Certainly, you cared for his brothers and spent plenty of time, especially, keeping Mikey entertained, but, it wasn’t completely lost on him that you seemed to prefer his company the most. It was that tiny bit of knowledge that sparked a proud satisfaction within him.
He was your favorite, or at least he had been. Now...now he wasn’t sure what had happened between you but he desperately wanted to fix it. He wanted, no, he needed his best friend back. With a heavy sigh that bordered on a sob, Donatello buried his face in his hands and hoped that Leo returned soon. He didn’t know how much more worry and uncertainty he could take.
Donnie wasn’t sure how long he’d remained sitting idly in his lab—it wasn’t like him to remain still when there was so much he could be doing, but his heart just wasn’t in it. Eventually, he became aware that the sound of revelry from the living area had quieted. With a tired groan, he rose and made his way over to peek out of the door. The living room and kitchen areas were devoid of people and most of the lights were off meaning April and Casey had taken their leave and Raph and Mikey had turned in for the night.
Curious, he stepped out and closed the lab door quietly behind himself. He took a moment to allow his eyes to adjust to the change in light, blinking behind his glasses as he made his way through the space. He felt as though he was moving on autopilot as his feet directed him to Leonardo’s neat, little corner of the lair. A heavy feeling settled in the pit of his stomach at finding his eldest brother’s gear still gone and his bed empty. He still hadn’t returned. Now Donnie was really starting to become concerned. He backtracked quickly, making a bee line for his own niche, fully prepared to suit up and go find out what was going on for himself. It seemed he wouldn’t have to, however, as Leo’s voice stopped him suddenly in his tracks.
“Donnie, what are you still doing up?”
Donatello spun toward the sound to find his eldest brother sauntering toward him with a curious look on his face. Instead of answering his brother’s question, however, he made a demand of his own, “Where have you been all night? Do you have any idea what time it is?”
“You sound like dad,” Leo chuckled tiredly. He smirked at his younger brother as he passed by, heading to his room. “Gonna send me to the Hashi?”
“I’m serious, Leo...”
The blue clad ninja sighed as he unstrapped his gear and began stowing it away, “Where do you think I’ve been? You’re the one that asked me to go check on her...”
“Yeah, I did,” Donnie frowned, “But you’ve been gone for over three hours! What were you doing?”
“Well,” Leo took his time removing his mask and carefully folded the scrap of cloth before answering. “She invited me to have dinner with her...”
Donatello bristled, “Dinner?!”
Leo nodded, turning to face his younger brother. “Yeah, dinner...Indian takeout. Her parents were out for the night and she really didn’t want to be alone so afterwards we ended up watching a movie until they got back.”
“You two had dinner and watched a movie together?” Donnie felt strangely put out. He’d been practically begging you to come over for over a week to have some dinner with them and watch a movie and you’d blown him completely off but you apparently had no problem sitting down with just his brother to do the same. It hurt and he reluctantly admitted to himself that he was feeling just a little jealous. Okay, maybe more than a little. His eyes widened behind their frames at that realization.
“Yeah,” Leo confirmed. “Look, Donnie, we talked and she’s not mad at you.”
“She’s not?” Donatello may have been the taller of the two of them but he suddenly felt very, very small as his brief burst of anger was smothered by gnawing anxiety. “Then...why is she acting like this?”
“She’s...” Leo tried to search for the right words. “She’s worried for you.”
“Me?” Donnie’s face twisted in confusion. Why on earth would you be worried for him? As far as he was concerned, it was his job to worry for you.
“It’s complicated,” Leonardo shook his head. “Something was brought to her attention and it’s been weighing on her, that’s all. She wasn’t sure if she should bring it up, or how to bring it up for that matter. So, she’s been staying away.”
“What?” The purple ninja’s brow furrowed, fresh worry bubbling in his chest, “What is it? Maybe I can help.”
“The thing about that is,” Leo tried to explain, “the person that can help doesn’t see the problem and, well, that is the problem.”
“What?” Donatello pondered his brother’s words as he pushed his glasses up his snout. “Leo...that doesn’t even make sense.”
“It will,” Leo mumbled and, quickly changing the subject, asked, “Was April here?”
“Yeah,” Donnie nodded. “Why?”
“Was Casey with her?” The blue banded leader asked pensively.
Donatello let out a snort of irritation, “Isn’t he always?”
“Did they leave together?”
Donnie shrugged, “I don’t know. Probably. Things just felt...weird, I guess. I went to the lab and by the time I came out everyone was already gone so I didn’t see. What does this have to do with anything?”
“Nothing...forget I asked.” Leo continued to turn the April/Casey situation over in his mind even as he tried to reassure his brother. It would need to be dealt with, yes, but right now comforting Donatello was his main concern. “Like I said, we talked and she’s not mad at you, alright? So stop worrying about whether or not you did something wrong. You didn’t. Understand?”
Donnie sniffed as he felt wannabe tears burn behind his eyelids. He hadn’t messed things up with you and that had been his biggest fear. He wanted to feel relief but could sense there was a lot Leonardo was leaving unsaid. “Yeah...okay.”
“Good.” Leo clapped his brother on the shoulder. “Because she’s coming over tomorrow night...”
“She is?!” Donatello brightened considerably at that statement. His best friend was coming back. He wasn’t sure what Leo had said or done to convince you to return but he was willing to forgive him the evening he’d spent with you in exchange for whatever magic he’d managed to work while he was there. He’d certainly not been getting anywhere with all his calls and texts. Still, he found himself feeling the slightest bit apprehensive. After all, you had run out on him the last time. “Are you sure?”
“Positive,” Leonardo assured. “I made her promise. So no more moping, okay?”
Donnie couldn’t stop the smile from spreading across his face. “Sure, Leo.”
Though relieved to see his brother in better spirits, Leo couldn’t help but think they weren’t out of the woods just yet. There was still Casey and April to deal with. He wanted to say more but found himself biting back a yawn instead. “I gotta turn in...I’m wiped. You should probably get some sleep, too.”
“Yeah,” Donatello nodded, suddenly realizing how tired he truly was. He rarely slept much as it was, his inventions and experiments always keeping him up till an ungodly hour. Fretting over you, however, meant he’d been sleeping even less than normal. “You’re probably right. Goodnight, Leo, and...thanks.”
“Sure thing, Donnie.” Leo smiled at his brother but it didn’t quite reach his eyes.
Donatello was too elated to notice.
To be continued...

... how about season one Donnie meeting season 5 Donnie. While season 5 Donnie knows that messing with the timelines is a terrible idea. He's just lost so much. His brothers have drifted so far apart. His father's dead. So, hes left with the choice of ruining his timeline for a possible better one. (You can choose what he does and the consquences if your want to do this dabble)
Anon this took a long time to answer, but trust me I have been thinking about it frequently ever since you sent this ask.
Donatello appears in Donnie’s lab with a burst of light; theair pressure popping in his ear canals and the smell of something singedfilling his nose.
Donnie stares, unable to articulate what’s just happened. His other self stares back, panting and looking like he’s just been throughhell.
A long silver cloak obscures most of his body, only his headuncovered. Donnie’s mirror self holds a demented looking staff in his hands, the rod leading up to a giant red hand clutching an hour glass.
“-what’s the date?” His other self gasps out.
Donnie looks closer, and distantly realizes that no, thisturtle isn’t his mirror self. The other Donatello is taller, has lines to hisface Donnie knows he doesn’t have. He’s carrying an air of someone on the edge, and looking ready to shove anyone near him over it.
“What’s the date?”His other self demands sharply.
Donnie startles, and blurts out the information requested onreflex. The other Donatello sags against his bizarre staff, and looks sorelieved it probably hurts.
“Oh good,” He says, smiling in a broken way. “I was worriedI’d overshoot or something.”
And then he nearly falls onto the floor, and Donnie rushesto catch him.
–/–
It takes only a few moments for the other him to catch hisbreath. In those moments, Donnie sees what he can only assume is a collectionof hot-sharp desperate emotions be shoved under the surface. It looks painful;to cover up so much all in one go.
“Who are you?” Iswhat he asks soon as he’s able. Except with a lot more confusion and swearinginvolved.
“I’m you,” is theweary and partially humorous answer. The other Donatello smiles as he saysthat, drawing at stress lines that make him look older by decades. “Well, I’myou, except nearly five years older and a hell of a lot more traumatized. Ha.”
Donnie thinks he looks too old to be just twenty.
The explanation is curt, to the point. Donatello- as Donnieis calling him, because two Donnie’s is just confusing even inside his head- explainswho he is, where he’s come from, and how he’s gotten into Donnie’s lab in theearly hours of the night.
“The time sceptre,” Donatello says, holding up the creepystaff as he does. “I stole it from someone we used to think of as a friend. Thecloak, too.” He smiles, but it’s a bitter expression. A lot of things aboutDonatello seem bitter. “It’ll hide my presence from the time mistresses, longenough I can get everything I need to done.”
“Uh,” Donnie says. “that explains so very little of what thehell is going on. Time mistresses?”
“They’re from the seventy-ninth dimension,” Donatello says, which doesn’t clarify anything but doesconfirm the multiverse theory. Hooray? “There’s a whole collection of them, asociety, even, and while we used to be friends with an apprentice of theirs, Isort of. Well. Burned that bridge to the ground when I broke into theirheadquarters and stole one, the most powerful time scepter they have, and two,one of their stealth cloaks. So long as I wear it, they can’t track mymovements through time. Just the ripples I leave in it.”
Donnie puts his fingers to his temples, trying to catcheverything all at once and make sense of it. “Okay, time travel and alternatedimensions are confirmed scientifically possible, great. Why are you doing allthis?”
Donatello’s expression hardens and goes cold. “To preventthe future I came from.”
Oh god. It’s worse than Donnie imagined. This is everyhorrible sci-fi thriller ever and he’s livingit.
“…and what sort of future is that?” He’s so afraid to ask.
Donatello remains cold, but takes on a bone deep exhaustion.“Well… for starters, our father died.”
Donnie was right to be afraid, and his heart goes colderthan Donatello’s expression.
“No,” He whispers, air knocked out of him. “No, that’s impossible.”
“He’s just as mortal as any of us, I’m afraid,” Donatellosays. His hands tighten around the scepter. “Shredder kills him three yearsdown the road from here, but not before a lot of really, really bad stuffhappens because of him. Because of both of them. I’m here to stop it.”
Donnie’s head is spinning. His father dies.  Died. It’s not even something he can properly imagine; the rat that’s always beenuntouchable in a fight, even with all four of him and his siblings ganging upon him. He died and Donnie sent himself back in time to prevent that. But-
“How?” Donnie asks, even though a part of him is alreadyarriving at multiple answers, including-
“Simple,” Donatello says. “I’ll kill Shredder before he cankill anyone else.”
He takes out a folded piece of paper; crumpled blueprint seton the table next to them and smoothed out. Donnie only has to glance at it toknow what’s drawn on its surface.
“And, you’re going to help me.”
–/–
Donnie already has all the materials needed, scattered throughouthis lab and in the garage. He’s horrified, and confused, and yet not.
He always knew he had the potential to build scarier things, deadlier things. He just didn’t, because it seemed so… terrible. Even in theface of everything he’s been through the last few months, it wasn’t ever a linehe wanted to cross.
Now, he has motivation. Both in the tried and true one ofwanting to protect his family, and in the intimidating figure his older selfpresents.
Between the two of them, they have everything nearly set upalready, despite only beginning a few hours ago. Donnie is hesitant now andagain, but Donatello works with machinelike pace and precision. There are nomistakes or pauses as he works across the table from Donnie; only focus andunrelenting concentration.
Donnie darts glances at his other self, examining thedifferences between them more closely.
Donatello had laid out his reasoning and motivations todestroy his own future. Most of it had been to do with what effect theirfather’s death had had on their family, but also… what had happened betweenthem all afterwards, and even before that.
Maybe Raph was always a little more physical and short-fusedthan needed. Maybe Leo got on their cases a lot and sometimes was a littleharsher than he should be. Maybe Splinter had always been a little bitstandoffish towards Donnie and Mikey’s interests and skillsets. That didn’tmean they were abusive, right?
A lot can change in half a decade, it seemed.
The accusations Donatello had told Donnie sat heavy in hischest; painful to think on and slimy feeling to imagine.
Donatello had looked so tired when he told Donnie thosethings. Exhausted and regretful. It’s notentirely their fault, he’d said, weall got dealt bad hands and they dealt with it worse than any of us. I canstill save them from that. We both can.
Save Leo, Raph, and Splinter from themselves and the peoplethey could become. Save Mikey from becoming detached and brittle smiling, madesharp and weary by war and devolving home life. Save April from becomingsomeone who burned too bright and carried too much anger and pain to handle.Save Casey.
“Who’s that?” Donnie had asked.
Donatello had paused for a moment, and then smiled in a wrymanner.
“Someone who helped me get back here,” He’d said. Then, withwarmth, “and some idiot you’ll learn to trust with your life.”
Then he’d paused, and sagged a little around his shoulders.Tired, grieving.
“He didn’t make it through the portal with me.”
Donatello went quiet after that.
Donnie still sees those things in Donatello’s posture, evenas they work quickly to assemble what they need. There are scars and lines toDonatello’s body and face that add to the exhausted air; making him look somuch older than twenty.
Donnie is quietly scared of those things. The age and thewear and the blank resignation, of what Donatello’s told him, and of theexplosives they have piled all around them.
He wants to go find his brothers. His father. He wants tograb them all and look them in the eye, and begthem to chase away any doubts he has about them, or their family, or theirlove. He wants to be a kid who can run to his family and have them explain awayeverything that’s horrible in the world. He wants them all to promise theywouldn’t ever become those people, and that he wouldn’t become Donatello.
But, Donatello is short of time. He’d said that even withthe cloak he still wears, eventually the time mistresses he stole from willfind him. The sceptre is too powerful to hide for long, and…
Donnie agrees, despite how everything is spiraling out ofhis control and feeling exactly like a black hole. He agrees that for theirfamily…
Well, he’s willing to do anything for them. Anything to keepthem whole, healthy, and happy. Even kill for them.
–/–
Donnie’s pulse races as they scale the building; terrifiedthat someone will somehow see them, despite all the precautions they’ve taken, and terrified because he has bombs onhis shell.
He’s designed plans for bombs over the years. Thought aboutchemicals and devices that could create the biggest boom. He’s never actually considered bringing those thoughts intoreality. Too dangerous, too extreme.
His other self still doesn’t seem to have any reluctance forthose sorts of things; carrying his half of the bombs without hesitance as theyclimb.
Donnie pulls out the first bomb he’s supposed to place, ashe reaches a nook of the church’s outside. The thing isn’t much bigger than hishand, but it weighs.
It feels like a precipice he’s about to topple from.
Donnie bites his lip, and reminds himself this is for thesake of his family. Even if it feels… wrong.
He places the bomb, locking it to the stone and activatingit. The little green light comes to life, and Donnie has to swallow bile as hehas to keep going.
How has no one caught them yet? How have they totallyescaped the notice of one of the most powerful crime lords in the world?Donnie’s hindbrain insists that their luck can’t hold, that even though hisother self said he knew the patrol patterns perfectly, they’re going to becaught and then everyone will die-
A shape falls past Donnie and his heart jumps out of hischest.
He whips his head to follow the shape, ready to detach his handfrom the metal grips around his palms and grab the first kunai he can-
-and he sees the black clad form of a guardsmen, metal mesheyes staring upwards, just before he hits the ground with a cracking thud.
Donnie stares, uncomprehendingly, at the corpse below him.
It’s in the shadows of the alley, and looks just like therest of the trash bags scattered along the ground. It looks like just anotherlump in the dark. Something no one would ever glance twice at.
He feels like throwing up.
Donnie slowly looks upwards, breath difficult to find.
His other self meets his eyes, blank and undisturbed. Andthen turns away as he disappears onto the roof.
Donatello had said they wouldn’t meet any guards. Thatthey’d get all the bombs in place without even having to worry about them. Allof Donnie’s observations of the church had said that was impossible, but he’daccepted the insistences anyways. Because he didn’t want to think of the truth.
Donatello lied to him. It somehow doesn’t feel like asurprise.
An aged mirror of his face reappears above him.
“Hurry up,”Donatello whispers over the ledge of the church. “I don’t have much time left.”
So he keeps saying, at least.
Donnie feels the weight of the bombs on his shell, slungcarefully inside a large duffle bag like they are. The sound of the thud playsover and over in his head.
He reminds himself that this is for his family, theirfuture, and that everyone inside this building is going to be dead very soonanyways. What’s one death sooner than that?
Donnie feels detached from himself as he keeps climbing. Hevaguely wonders if he’ll ever sleep again, after tonight.
–/–
“Are you sure?” Donnie asks one last time, staring at thebuilding they’ve wired to blow.
“I spent half a year examining every single day of ourlives, dating from April’s appearance to- to our father’s death,” His otherself says, bent double over the thicker, sturdier laptop from the Shellraiser. He’s letting Donnie look at it, but clearly needs no assistance as he hacks thecameras inside the church a second time. “I’ve crunched numbers andpossibilities and alternate options into oblivion, trust me,” Donatello looksstone-faced determined, so much so it’s making Donnie uncomfortable. “There isno other way. I’m sorry.”
He’s been saying that all night. Donnie’s starting to feellike it means more than just ‘sorry’.
Donatello’s typing slows, and he stops completely. Staringat the screen with intensity.
Donnie sees what he’s staring at, and swallows.
The Shredder.
Sat on his throne, discussing something the video feed won’tpick up. Foot soldiers stationed along the walls of the room, no sign of hissecond in commands or of Karai. Donatello said she was out at the moment, thatshe wouldn’t make it back in time.
Donnie, feeling dizzy, wonders why they weren’t killing heras well.
He turns his eyes back to the tips of the church. Two blocksaway, they have a perfect view of the top roof of the building. All the sharptowers, the piercing arches aimed at the sky.
Donnie is about to watch it all be destroyed, and have theknowledge he helped orchestrate it.
He can’t feel his legs. Reality feels like it’s sliding.
For his family. It was all for his family. He needed toremember that.
“Text Leo,” Donatello says, clipped and low. Donnie doesn’tlook at him. “Tell him to tell Karai… she should get back to her base soon, orshe’ll miss the show.”
Donnie stutters internally. “What? Why would- he’s with her? Right now?”
“Yes,” Donatello says; no hint of a lie. “Where did youthink he disappeared all the time?”
Donnie reels, implications about his brother gettingfriendly with one of the deadliest threats in their lives making his head spin.“Oh my god- he’s been- and he didn’t tellus?”
Donatello scoffs, the sound almost a bitter laugh. “Thisisn’t even the worst stupid stunt he pulls. Just text him, they’ll get heresoon enough.”
“Why? Why do weeven want her to see this?” It seems… overkill, making her watch her own fatherdie, as terrible as the both of them are.
“She doesn’t need to see it,” Donatello says. “I just needto tell her something before we go. Better she comes now than me having to huntfor her later. It’ll save time.”
Donnie doesn’t want to know. He does not want to know whathis other self wants to tell Karai; not with the dull, bitter tone to hiswords.
He texts Leo anyways. He puts away his phone before hestarts getting replies back.
“Ready?” Donatello asks, holding a finger over the key thatwill activate the countdown sequence.
Donnie wants to scream no.
“Yes,” He says, and it comes out strangled. “As I’ll everbe.”
Donatello nods, and turns back to the screen perched on hiscrossed legs. He presses the key, starting the thirty second countdown.
Donnie tears his eyes from the changing numbers, to glanceat Donatello’s expression.
He doesn’t look like he’s feeling anything at all.
“I’m sorry,” Donatello says suddenly, the flashing screenlighting his face strangely. “You shouldn’t have had to see this. Do any ofthis.”
Twenty-five seconds.
“Then why are you making me?” Donnie asks, because he hasto. “You could’ve done this on your own. I know you could have.”
Twenty seconds.
“Because,” Donatello says. He doesn’t take his eyes off thefigure of Shredder or the countdown. “you have to learn, whether you or I wantyou to.”
Fifteen seconds.
“Learn what?”
“How to do what needs doing, so we don’t lose anyone everagain.”
Ten seconds.
Donnie can’t find anything to say to that.
Donatello doesn’t look at him. Only staring at the Shredder, with cold hate slowly creeping into his expression.
Five seconds.
Donnie looks away, but he counts the seconds anyways.
Four.
Three.
Two.
Donnie shuts his eyes.
The explosion goes off, shuddering through the air.
(Continued on AO3, since it’s going to get a fair bit longer.)

Can you tell me more about your tmnt crystal gems au? Like gem placement, headcanons, just whatever you feel like sharing! I really loved the fusion posts and I've been thinking about the AU a lot I lowkey (highkey) want to draw some fan art whenever you get around to telling us about the designs a bit! You're super talented keep up the awesome work!!
Hello! It took a while to get back to this bc I hadn’t quiteworked out the gems for everyone. I have now, though! Because you reminded meto, lmao. also if anyone wants to get technical about the meanings or whateverof the gems I picked please don’t, I’m a lowly fic writer and did minimalresearch and don’t care to get super deep about things, thanks.
Alright, so I wrote that one ficlet a while back about Donnieand April, and they were the only two I had for sure down with what gems theywere. (I’ll recap them tho, in case folks missed it.)
Donnie = Purple Pearl.(because of reasons.) Gem placement is his forehead.
April = Yellow(or was it gold?) Tourmaline. Gem placement is her hip.
Raph = Pyrope.Gem placement is the back of his right hand.
Leo = Blue Iolite.Gem placement is between his shoulder blades.
Mikey = Jasper.(like, similar to canon Jasper, but smol like Amethyst ended up.) Gem placementis his chest, also like Amethyst.
Casey =(tentatively, may change if I feel like it) Onyx. Gem placement is his leftpalm.
Splinter = Fireagate. Gem placement is the same as Mikey’s.
Tumblr media
They essentially move from planet to planet once the whole crew is together and have interstellar travel once again, staying outside the range of the crumbling empire’s reach, but mostly hang out on one specific planet that’s got very little sentient life on it. Very relaxing for a collection of people who really need to calm down sometimes. except Casey who is raring to go any time all the time and needs to be stopped
And here’s some descriptions and stuff, because hell yes I’d love fanart pls and thank you:
Donnie: He is thelankiest fuckin Pearl you will ever meet, tall as hell and kind of maybeashamed of that. Like, garnet type tall or something. Red eyes, which stand outweirdly against his color scheme. He’s this pastel purple nightmare, and has along gauzy see-through skirt type deal with shorts underneath; you know, pearltype chic. Long hair, usually in a braid that goes to his midback. Coloring….Uh, probably pale purple for the shorts and shirt, lavender purple for theskirt, and dark purple for his shoes. They are ballet shoes. He will break yournose with said shoes if you antagonize him.
April: On theshort side, not overly big but pretty thick regardless. She was designed for war after all, not forcourt regality. Standard pants plus sleeveless shirt dealio. Something close toJasper’s in SU canon, but more yellow/orange color scheme. Her hair is likeTMNT canon, and her eyes are blue. (which has ~significance~ for reasons.)
Raph: short, stocky, power house build. Taller than Mikey by a small margin. Light reds anddark reds are his color scheme, with black boots. Hair is short and dark andspiky on top, p close to being a mohawk. Green eyes, bc it’s my AU I can dowhat I want. (his reason for being ‘wrong’ or whatever shall be revealedlater.)
Leo: a slimmerbuild than Raph, more appealing to the upper castes to look at and be around. (It’sall about appearances with court gems)He’s designed for both combat andaesthetic, would’ve been a high class guard, maybe even captain of said guard.(except the whole desolation of the empire happened and that didn’t work out) Darkblue and darker blue for his hair and skin, and purpley toned light blue forhis clothing; plus black shoes.  Navy blueeyes obvs speaking, and I imagine his hair to be very short. Close croppeddealio. (similarly to Raph, his reason for ‘wrongness’ will be revealed later)
Mikey: evenshorter than Raph, and the same type of power house build. Basically has thesame color scheme and Jasper in SU canon, though his hair is less flowy andmore curly. Kind of coily? If that makes sense. Blue eyes obvs, but other thanthat he resembles canon Jasper/Amethyst strongly. (y’all can probably guess hisbackstory already)
Splinter: tol. Holyfuck so tol. He was a general of sorts in the empire, and a very high rankingone at that. Body type is like his canon ratdad self, and his robe dealtranslates into this AU too. Honestly he just looks a lot like Hamato Yoshi didas a human. Same sort of dark red color scheme too. (bleh, boring, on to thenext one who is not)
Casey: skinnymotherfucker, about the same height as Donnie, and the most ‘metal’ gem to haveever come into existence. His clothing is a mess of whites and greys and black, mostly because he ended up coming out of the ground… kind of wrong? His gem hasa shard of foreign material in it, so while he’s still perfectly good in afight, he’s not entirely a gem and thus didn’t stick to the physical design hewas supposed to. He also popped out of the ground without a lick of knowledgeabout the empire, or gems, or even who the hell he was, so he never took thename Onyx. He’s always just been Casey, and he was raised up with verydifferent ideals than what other gems got.
Anyways. Bandanna boy looks like this scruffy skinny thing, andtends to change his outfit every time he regenerates. (which is often. because he’sCasey and he is always getting intotrouble.) dark grey skin, and black hair, etc. Canon him, but worse, because he can regenerate himselfand his weapons as many times as hewants. Cue endless chaos.
 —-
Uh, as for headcanons, I guess I’ll give an assortment ofrandom things I have in my head about this AU:
-Donnie doesn’t like sleeping. He says it feels weird and isuncomfortable with being unaware of his surroundings.
-Casey and Mikey are the only ones who eat food regularly. Everyoneelse either partakes on few occasions, or outright refuses because it’s gross.
-Leo has a vintage collection of sci-fi comics and books, and adores them, despite having… actually lived a sci-fi adventure… literallyhis whole life…
-how each of the boys, and then April, took their new nameshad to do with the books and bizarre timekeeping policies that came from adistant planet that Splinter found at one point and became taken with.
-Raph keeps pets, but not often, since he outlives them alland it feels like they die too quickly to make the pain worth it.
-when they found him, Mikey hadn’t ever met another gem. It was…an experience. For everyone involved.
-the first time Donnie met Leo and Raph, he kicked Raph hardenough he fell down a cliff. Then Leo too. That was also an experience foreveryone involved.
-gardening is a hobby everyone eventually gets involved in.Since the planet they spend the most time on is mostly uninhabited, they cancreate enormous gardens and come back in a few years to see how things haveprogressed. The perks of living extremely long lives, am I right?
-fusion is an iffy subject at first, because everyone isstill shaking off the old social ideals of the empire, but eventually itbecomes a very regular occurrence. The first ones to fuse are Leo and Mikey, because of a dire situation. I haven’t decided their fusion gem quite yet, but I’llget to it.
-no one is sure why Casey’s weapon is a hockey stick, or… all that clear on what that really is… but thatdoesn’t stop Casey from using it in battle. And during their down time. Andpretty much constantly.
-Donnie gets reunited with an old, dear friend at somepoint. It’s an important reunion, since this person helped him find theconfidence to own himself, and belong to no one.
-April’s past is something she keeps hidden for a longwhile, until they find a ship that has information in its mainframe about her,and what she was designed to do…
-sleeping piles happen multiple times, okay? Even if somemembers of the pile don’t actually sleep during it.
 —-
That’s about it for now. I should get back to this AU, sincea lot of it is really wholesome and full of friendship things, and a lot moreof it is about insecurities and hidden pasts and self-image issues. All things Iadore. :3c
