OKAY. I HAVE THOUGHTS. These were inspired by another post I saw, so they’re half mine, half someone else’s (I don’t remember the post sorry 😬 only that it mentioned something similar to this)

But when Dumbledore meets Tom for the first time, he immediately takes Tom’s behavior and physical reactions as bad things. Like, a flushed face and a feverish manner and stuff like that

Tom’s excitement and fervor about being different than the others is taken as a bad thing, through Dumbledore’s eyes. As proof he was always meant to be evil

But I think it’s bullshit and that we should remember that we’re seeing it through Dumbledore’s eyes. AND AS A PAST MEMORY!!! Memories change!!! All the time!!! Who’s to say Dumbledore’s memory wasn’t tainted by his later knowledge of Tom’s deeds???!!

Sorry lol. I’m very passionate about Tom. Anyway. My point was we’re seeing the memory through someone else’s eyes and not the scene as it truly was. Just another way we can’t always trust that Dumbledore speaks the truth, and something I wish more people realized

I ended up writing like a whole scene😭😭I was having way too fun writing it. Ignore all the grammar mistakes.

“Logan and I got eyes on the target,” Oscar’s voice comes through the little earpiece fitted. “He is finally alone.”

George crooks his elbow over his mouth, like one does when they want to cough. “Where?” George asks as softly as he can.  

“Two tables away from us actually.” Logan answers this time. 

“Try to keep it that way,” Lewis rushes out before he turns to Alex who is on the other side of George. “Go ask him for a dance. He had his eyes on you since you entered the room.”

“That wasn’t part of the plan!” Alex exclaims. 

Lewis retorts, “yes, well, none of us accounted for Leclerc being attracted to you of all people.”

Alex’s jaw drops. “What’s that supposed to mean?”

“It means your annoying arse—”

“Sorry to interrupt this fun fest,” Oscar speaks again, “but whatever that needs to be done needs to be done in the next two minutes.” 

George takes it as his cue to step in and looks at his best mate. “Alex, go. This might be our only chance.”

Alex grumbles. “Fine.” He walks away. 

Lewis says, “Logan, Oscar, try to keep the other side of the floor covered.”

“Alright,” Oscar says. “C’mon, Lo.”

That is the last bit of what they hear before the connection turns off again. 

Lewis adjusts his mask, a deep maroon piece adorned with intricate gold filigree spiralling across the front. Delicate lace edges frame the eye openings, highlighting the glint in his eyes. 

“Are we sure about this?” George Russell mutters beside him, his own sleek black mask with silver accents barely concealing the irritation now that he is alone with Lewis again. 

“Yes, darling,” Lewis teases, his signature smirk etching on his face as he leans closer. “When have I ever not been sure?”

George wants to smack and kiss the smirk of Lewis’ face. “Don’t call me darling.” 

“Whatever you say, sweetheart.”

George’s glare could cut glass. 

“Shall we?” Lewis offers up his hand and doesn’t even wait for George to take it. He grabs the younger man’s hand and leads him to the dance floor. 

As they reach an open space, Lewis turns to face George. It’s far enough from Charles and Alex to not raise suspicion but close enough for Lewis and George to keep an eye on them. 

The last echoes of conversation fade into a hush and then silence. Lewis bows just like every person on his side does. George mimics the gesture a few seconds later, channelling every single lesson he, Alex, Logan and Oscar had to bear in case a situation like this arises. 

With a shared glance, they step forward and intertwine one pair of hands. With an assertive yet gentle touch, Lewis places his free hand around the curve of George’s waist. But then, as if reconsidering, he shifts his hand to the dip of George’s spine, pulling him in closer.

The heat of Lewis’s palm sent shivers coursing through George. He feels a rush of heat flood his cheeks at the sudden intimacy, their faces mere inches apart. He places his hand on top of Lewis’ shoulder. “Lewis, this is—”

“Just follow my lead,” Lewis murmurs, his breath warm against George’s ear.

Soft strains of waltz music fills the grand ballroom, a delicate melody that wraps around like a silken ribbon. The chandelier’s crystals sparkle like a constellation trapped beneath a glass dome, casting a warm glow over the floor. 

Lewis steps forward with his left foot and brings his right foot to meet his left and steps to the side with his left foot. George follows. Their bodies move in sync as they fall into the elegant patterns of the waltz. 

“See? Not so bad,” Lewis says, a satisfied smirk on his lips as he twirls them, their movements becoming more fluid.

“I’m pretending to be your husband.” The faux voice matches his faux smile. He does not want to give Lewis the satisfaction. “Trust me, it is that bad.”

Lewis rolls his eyes, the glint never extinguishing. George could pretend all he wants but Lewis knows enough to know the effect he has on him. “We both know you’re enjoying this, baby.” 

George scoffs, pretending his heart isn’t pounding in his chest as they glide across the polished marble. “Enjoying this? Hardly. Don’t let something untrue get in your head.”

“Too late for that,” Lewis quips, spinning George again. 

The way Lewis holds him—firm yet gentle—does make George feel like they are the only two people in the room and he hates it. He despises it when it feels like the world is fading when he is with Lewis. 

As the final notes of the waltz play, Lewis holds George close, their foreheads nearly touching, breathing in sync as they stand in the glow of the ballroom.

I’d say it depends on what console/devices you have! Every Zelda game can be played as a stand alone which makes the series pretty easy to approach. If you want to really get the Zelda experience and understand what the core of the Zelda series is about, my only recommendation is start with any game except breath of the wild. BOTW is a great game but it really lets go of the vast majority of Zelda tropes in order to explore and test out new concepts. Which is cool, but not a great start if you’re looking into Zelda as a whole.

The defining Zelda game ever is ocarina of time, so if you have a 3ds I think it’s obligatory for me to say that’s a great starting place. A lot of the classic tunes are from this game, and a toonnnn of the bigger lore pieces come from Ocarina of Time. Song of storms comes from this game too so it’s immediately awesome. if you have a Wii I’d also recommend playing Twilight Princess. It gets a lot of hate I feel like in the community, but it was sort of a soft remake of ocarina of time, and it has objectively the best side kick in all the games. It’s a bit empty but the characters are really full of life. I feel like the dungeons are all really really fun too. I’m honestly really biased with this game because it was my first game though so take that with a grain of salt. On the same topic of Wii/Wii U if you have one absolutely look into playing Wind Waker it has some of the most fun visuals and in my opinion the most compelling ganondorf (main villain) in the whole series. Zelda also has a lot more personality in this game that most.

Back with the 3ds PLEASE consider trying out minish cap. It’s my personal favorite from the 3ds i really love the character designs and the story. I wouldn’t recommend it as a first because it’s a bit more difficult than the ones above and it’s lore is a lot looser, but later on your journey it’s absolutely worth your time it’s so good and cute.

On the 3ds there’s also a link between worlds which I haven’t played personally but has some of my favorite lore and story beats. Definitely worth your time it’s game play is so unique and it’s got some of my favorite characters.

If I list every game I think I’d be here all day so I’m just gonna make a quick list of my recommended order!!

Ocarina of Tome (important lore)

Majoras Mask (this one is a bit difficult so feel free to skip and come back to. It’s a sequel to ocarina of time and has some tif the coolest game mechanics/story ever)

Skyward Sword (more important lore, basically the origin story for all the other games)

if you have a wii/wii u: Twilight princess and Wind Waker (two dramatic ends of what a Zelda game could be visually and story wise. Twilight Princess came out a little after wind waker. TP was super edgy and cool while WW was bright and fun. Both have some really heartfelt moments though and are sooo worth your time)

if you played WW, I feel like spirit tracks would be a fun follow up. It’s an indirect sequel with a similar art style made for the 3ds. The game play is really cool and it has one of the most developed Zelda’s, next to wind waker and ocarina of time Zelda’s)

at this point you should be well versed enough to approach basically any Zelda game! My favorites not already listed are Links Awakening, Minish Cap (MINISH CAP IS SO GOOD PLEASE OELASE PLEASE)and the oracle games!! A lot of people like four swords and tri heroes though!

take all this with a grain of salt though haha!! Zelda can be enjoyed in absolutely any way which is a lot of the appeal. I know it looks like a lot, but really playing any game at all, botw included, means you’re welcome! All you ever really need to know to be a Zelda fan is that the player character is Link and he wears green and he saves a cool princess named Zelda with the power of magic golden triangles!! unless you’re playing the upcoming game Echoes of Wisdom which is coming out in September!!!!! That one’s gonna be about Zelda where you save Link with the power of chairs im so excited

hmmmmm playing my first video game when i was 4 on NES with my dad, pokemon, as they were what i originally used to draw obsessively and prolly got me into art in the first place :D this last one's gonna be a downer sorry lol, but a really bad time in high school when i was 14 that involved a lot of people just. stopping talking to me and/or having bad reactions at me in response to a small mental health crisis i had at the time - this one i've been working on unlearning, it led to a refusal to talk about my feelings for a lot of years lmao, i was convinced people wouldn't care about you if you were anything but happy or that it was like. a burden to share your problems. shit was fucked :')

14. what's something you've always wanted to do but maybe been too scared to do?

dance classes, also karaoke (i think i have a passable singing voice and i enjoy it a lot but Performance Anxiety, which. prolly also applies to the dance thing tbh)

i don't talk about it much on main, but i fucking adore Prapai/Sky's jealousy kink. i loooove me a good jealousy kink. Sky and Prapai love being possessive of each other as much as they love being possessed. Sky really said "i completely trust you, i just also like getting mad at you when your exes are annoying and fucking you over it" and Prapai really went "yes please, please use me any and every way you wish especially like this." WE LOVE TO SEE IT.

things i'm also immensely in love with: Sky doesn't think he's worth love, but then gets liberally drowned in affection and care from Prapai and soaks it up like a sponge. and equally, Prapai is so fucking excited to devote his everything to Sky. i have cried to great lengths in DMs about how Prapai is a very caring guy and obviously an excellent hookup, but...nobody really wants him for him. he has a lot of past hookups eager for another, but so many of them express extreme disbelief at the fact that Prapai likes being a total malewife when in fact Prapai is so eager to shower Sky with affection extensively and enjoys doing so immensely.

so! Prapai! my sweet darling boy. he has the vibe of someone who's always been very affectionate, but it was not always welcomed. not in a bad way, just that the people usually seeking his company don't like when he drives two hours for stewed eggs or showers them with flowers three days in a row. they might like it for a few days as a fun hookup thing, but its always on a (short) time limit.

so imagine one day, Prapai and Sky are on a date and one of Prapai's past hookups stops by to say hi. canonical jealous brat Sky is already planning out how he'll put this guy in his place now and fuck Prapai about it later, but then the ex-hookup wiggles his eyebrows at Sky and jokes how he'll have to bolt after lunch before the smothering begins.

and Sky's brain does a complete record scratch. total bluescreen, hackles raised, doesn't-realize-he's-hissing because fucking WHAT!? Prapai is the BEST BOYFRIEND in the entire WORLD, this man should be on his knees WEEPING Prapai is Sky's and not his, no one is even half as lucky as Sky is because none of them have a Prapai who showers them in love and affection and tiny kisses because there's only one Prapai in the entire world and he is SKY's.

Sky doesn't bother responding because honestly nothing can convey the depths of his contempt at that remark as well as his best pissed bitch face, he is wrapping himself in Prapai's arms and glaring at the ex-hookup until he goes the fuck away. then Sky rants that that man is a FOOL, why did you ever sleep with someone so stupid P'Pai, don't you have TASTE--

Hi there! <3 I re-watched Halloween Ends yesterday because I was upset and I needed Corey to save me, lmfao, and I wanted to ask you something that I've been wondering about. So, I have no way of getting the novelisation of the movie anytime soon, and you're kinda my only frame of reference for it; so I hope you don't mind me asking you this. When Corey is on his revenge killing spree, he kills those bullies at the mechanic shop. And Ronald is there. And then Ronald comes out to help the kids because of Terry. And only because of that. So, that makes me wonder... Did Corey plan on killing Ronald after he was done with the kids? Is that something that was elaborated on in the novel? Because I keep wondering about that, since Corey pretty much killed everyone that ever wronged him during that night, and Ronald was right there; but Corey didn't kill him (or didn't get the chance to, at least). Terry shot him by accident. But Corey killed his mom, of course. So, it'd make sense if he had at least planned on going after Ronald as well; even though he never actively wronged Corey (only passively, if we look at the way he just sat and watched while Joan abused Corey right in front of him, for example). But more so for completion's sake, y'know? They were on generally good terms, after all. I mean, in your latest post about the novel, you quoted that Ronald is "the loveliest thing" in Corey's life, according to Rohan. So, that makes me wonder all the more. OH, and... I fought with myself to include this point, but anyway- Corey takes the mask off when Ronald comes to help the kids, so that Ronald can see his face and know it's him. And it clearly disarms Ronald immediately and is the reason why Terry accidentally shot him instead of Corey, because he shielded him instinctively. Thus, I keep wondering if Corey meant for that to happen or if he took the mask off in order to assure Ronald that he wasn't actually in danger... It's such a seemingly insignificant thing that I'm thinking about far too much, but it's been bothering me that I don't know, and I was curious if the novel said anything about that at all, or if they just brushed over it there, as well. If they did, I'll just make up my own mind, of course, hdsfdjkfsk Anyway, I'm very sorry for rambling on about this, gosh! ahhh hi !! thank you so much for sending this ask !! i love talking about this sort of thing more than anything lol and i’m sorry this took a little longer than i expected to reply, i was double checking like every ronald scene in the novel and cross-referencing that with behind-the-scenes details from making of, and re-watching the movie (i didn’t have to do that last one but like you, i needed emotional support from corey too 💗)

WARNING for discussions about (canon-typical) violence, murder, child abuse, abusive households, mentions of suicide and self-harm, and spoilers for the novelisation.

TL;DR – the novelisation does not elaborate on corey's intentions in any huge amount of detail, but it does provide some insight into a few different possibilities for ronald and corey’s relationship and what that would mean for corey's intentions.

general relationship

the novelisation actually gives some really specific details about the cunningham-prevo backstory, but also leaves a lot of aspects vague too.

joan married ronald when corey was 15, and she made it clear to ronald that he would "remain firmly on the sidelines when it came to corey's upbringing" which ronald "gladly" agreed to. so from the very beginning, ronald accepts he isn't going to be an active parent to corey, which maybe means he didn't believe he would do a good job anyway, or maybe he agreed it wasn't his place to parent corey in the same way joan does.

also, corey was already a teenager, he didn't need parenting in the same way a younger child would, which is partly why i think joan waited until corey was older to get remarried, because although being a single parent is difficult, she wouldn't want someone else in the picture as a father-figure for corey.

i don't personally see corey and ronald having a super close relationship, but there are multiple instances that show they are at least comfortable and familiar with each other (in line with what rohan said).

corey had a job before working for ronald, so we know ronald didn't have to give him a job. i hc that corey really wanted to do something stimulating instead of call centre work, and ronald agreed despite joan's grievances over it.

ronald doesn't seem too angry at him for being late, even though it is a regular occurrence (third time in a month).would he be so lenient on anyone who wasn't his stepson?

the gifting of the motorbike is a huge moment of course. that's a big gesture which, in the novelisation, also comes with some stilted bonding when ronald reminiscences that he used to "get laid [...], if you can believe it".

they have their united front moment over dinner when joan is trying to work a reaction out of them and neither gives her what she wants.

a smaller but still significant gesture is that corey uses dumbbells and a pull-up bar in his room to workout, which ronald bought him for christmas. very much feels like an attempt to help corey rebuild his self-confidence.

honestly though, rohan's comment about ronald being the "loveliest" thing in corey's life is probably right, especially as corey's life has been incredibly insular. as the town pariah with an abusive mom, his stepdad being cool about him being late for work is probably one of the best parts of his day.

but then on the other hand, there are moments which do not characterise their relationship very well, including multiple instances of ronald "ignoring" joan's abusive behaviour and not intervening.

to reiterate a previous point: ronald very willingly obliges joan's wishes of not "interfering" with corey's upbringing. her unfounded criticism and distrust of doctors, the school system and anyone other than her taking care of corey should have been a huge red flag (if, of course, any of that behaviour could have been inferred prior to their marriage).

ronald's passivity at being side-lined by his wife, allowing her to continue an unhealthy and unbounded relationship with corey.

when joan is berating corey for "sneaking around" and seeing allyson (the slap/kiss scene), she questions ronald as to whether he knew about the motorcycle, to which ronald stays completely out of it and doesn't answer her, despite her being furious with corey.

however it is a really difficult family dynamic to navigate, with so much nuance. i'm reluctant to say if ronald is a "good" or "bad" stepdad, or whether their father-son relationship is "good" or "bad", simply because their circumstances are so trying and complex. yes, joan has abused corey for a long time, but that abuse also extends to ronald in many ways too, resulting in him allowing (or enabling) joan's abusive behaviour in a flawed attempt to maintain the (toxic) status quo of the household.

did corey intend to kill ronald?

like i mentioned, there isn't any elaboration about corey's intentions in the novel, either through narration or extra dialogue. the scene happens almost exactly as it does in the film, with a few alterations and added background details. it's the surrounding details and plot differences that change my opinion.

i think movie!corey would have killed ronald if he had to. he knew ronald would be at home or at the yard, both of which were places he intended to go (to kill momma and the bullies). i'm not sure he had the same desire to kill ronald as he does the others, especially if he sees ronald in a good light, but to tie up loose ends he might do what is "necessary". i do find it very interesting that he lets ronald see his face though, and i can't decide if that is as a reassurance (he wouldn't kill ronald and ronald should know that) or because it just didn't matter (he's going to kill ronald so even if he sees corey's face, he won't be a liability to worry about).

however, i don't think novel!corey intended to kill ronald. in the novel, despite all of the extensive set-up of joan being abusive and corey's repressed desires to hurt her (and arguably ronald), there's no suggestion that corey planned to go back home as part of his spree and kill joan. if he wasn't going to kill joan after everything she did, i really don't think he'd have plans to kill ronald.

that's not to say there aren't implication in the novel that corey would hurt ronald too. there's a scene after the slap/kiss where corey can hear joan and ronald arguing about him, and once they've gone to bed corey gets a knife and stands outside their room, but ultimately doesn't go in. it isn't specified whether he wants to hurts just joan, or ronald as well.

ahh so when i was re-reading the scrapyard massacre in the novel to try and answer whether corey letting ronald see that it is him was a way of corey saying "you don't have to be scared of me" or even "you should be scared of me", i've come to a different conclusion about the mask.

“Who did this to you?” [Ronald] asked. “Him,” Margo said, pointing across the street. Ronald turned to find Corey twenty feet away on the other side of the fence, pulling Michael’s mask over his head. "Corey?" he muttered in disbelief.

the way the novel reads, i think that when corey puts the mask on in front of ronald, it's the first time he puts the mask on at all. if that is the case, it adds a whole other level to the transition between corey's kills as himself (or as the scarecrow) and his kills "as michael".

earlier, billy's sees "corey's shape wearing his prevo jumpsuit". it's fair enough that billy would assume it's corey without seeing his face, because they know that corey is there, but there's no mention of the mask either.

then, the way it describes ronald seeing corey put on the mask doesn't really indicate that corey was making sure ronald saw it was him. he's already "pulling on the mask" by the time ronald looks over at him; he wasn't waiting for ronald to look he was already doing it.

alternatively, the movie shows corey very deliberately stood there, waiting for ronald to see him and recognise him before he puts the mask on. i'm leaning towards it not being a gesture of reassurance but more of a last show of humanity to someone corey cares about -- "it's me, and i appreciate that you always treated me well, but this is the monster they've made me into".

in both versions, ronald jumps up to stop terry shooting corey. whether he was intending to shield corey or was just getting up to try and talk terry down, i think it says a lot about ronald as a character. he has been very passive this whole time, especially in scenes that take place at home, but in this moment he takes an authorative position to try and diffuse the situation. there's a scared kid with a gun, and his own stepson who he's starting to think might have done something awful, but this doesn't have to continue -- they can talk about it and calm down and whatever it is that has happened can be worked out.

(For anyone wondering and to try and keep hopes in check, there was talk of a cheek kiss being filmed BUT as much as I'd love for that to be the case there's also an even stronger chance it was simply rumor which is doing nothing to keep my expectations down 😅)

There's only been implications of Lokius front and center pretty much every moment either or both of them have been on screen in s2 which is the most unexpected delight I can ever remember having while watching anything and makes it impossible not to assume we're getting the follow through regarding their feelings for each other! The near confession from Loki around the end of ep 1 has kind of been hanging over and influencing everything about their interactions since then and after it seemed like Loki not being more obvious about choosing Mobius led to the downfall of the entire timeline that's pretty much all I needed to apply the same reasoning to the series as well.

At this point I'm all in but also with no trust in the writers/Marvel so in a weird way it's like ascending to a level in which I'll be able to talk myself into a win no matter what happens as long as we don't lose TVA!Mobius to the timeline?? An unfathomable option that would leave me bereft of spirit for the rest of existence but one I can't ever see happening when the entire point of is exercising free will to choose and he's never done a single thing but pick and support Loki every time 💖
