hiii oh my god has it forreal been weeks since you sent me this?? i swear i just saved this to my drafts three days ago .. the passage of time truly fries my brain

first, this is so sweet of you to send to me and i'm so grateful that people still check in on me when i'm quiet online <3 i know i am a veryyyyy unreliable presence here but i really do appreciate all the love and i'm sending it right back to you <3

you've kind of given me the perfect jumping off point to just throw a lot of updates and ramblings in one spot bc truthfully i do not feel right posting normal posts and taking up space with things that are trivial in the grand scheme of things. i genuinely don't have the brain capacity for much else these days besides keeping up with palestine/congo/sudan etc related updates + the occasional few hours where i can watch a movie or a show without feeling guilty

(general life update dump below so beware bc i talk a lot)

brief mental state check in but i am not doing well! not just with the weight of the world but with everything else in my life lmao. pretty much everyone who knows me knows that the holidays/the winter are the roughest months for me so i'm usually radio silent :/ this year has been... so rough and i don't know why every year feels worse than the last but it really truly does! i'm particularly lonelier this year and it's honestly my fault. idk how to reach out to people when i'm so isolated tbh i feel like a burden at all times especially now that most of the people i used to talk to daily online and irl are doing way better than me and i'm just. always stuck here in this really shitty space i can't seem to get out of no matter how hard i try

i don't talk about my problems a lot online but like. after losing my childhood pet and then getting accepted to two different programs in one year (grad school and community college) and having to drop out of both AND dealing with a decline in my mother's health AND my grandmother's cancer scare AND my own financial issues AND unemployment i'm just exhausted. because of all of this i truly don't know how to function like a normal person or make friends or keep friends anymore i'm just miserable tbh

okay i know this is a hard pivot, but i thought i could just compile things that have brought me a little bit of happiness that i haven't talked about here! it's all on me to feel like this, but i have intense guilt about posting anything not related to current events, so this is my way around that! so.. enjoy i guess <3

i beat my new years' resolution of watching 365 things this year – i'm up to 500 logs!

a lot of new tv (28 total, entire shows, rewatches, new seasons, miniseries, and documentaries included)

fixated on kpop this year and listened to 30 groups whole discography! i actually counted and it was exactly 30 lmao ask me ab my fav groups and biases if you dare

started drinking tea every day :)

redecorating my apartment and it's so much cozier now

i've become more of a snoopy/peanuts fanatic :)

to build on the new years resolution, i've added quite a few horror franchises under my belt :) my horror tag on letterboxd is roughly 250 now!

i think i'm finally breaking my lifelong nail biting habit??? fingers crossed!

buying more things secondhand and feeling way better about it! mostly clothes and dvds but me and my partner are huge fans of knick knacks

have tried a lot of new food this year :) and am cooking new recipes a lot more too!

went to the beach for vacation for the first time in ten years <3 went to this cool little record store and got a band recommendation from the owner that's now one of my underground favs!

celebrated ten years with my partner this year and although it's been such a rough year for the both of us and we're not nearly where we ever thought we'd be, we're more solid now than we've ever been!!! i really would not have made it through this year without them

honestly this year has been a blur 90% of the time so there's obviously been more little things that make me happy but! it's been a big year for consuming media bc i don't have much energy for creating anymore unfortunately

Bob's Burgers Zeke x Tina Head Canons and Story Scene Ideas.

I'm separating headcanons and ideas because the headcanons are more solid in their stance while the ideas are just shaky story scenes that I think would be cool to do but I'm not sure if I would be into it being my main line headcanon.

Headcanons:

1. While Tina is still dating Jimmy Jr. She tries to apologize to Zeke for being so hostile towards him at the beginning. She admits that she was jealous of how close he was with Jimmy Jr even though she knew him longer, how he seemed to thrive at everything that she hoped to be good at, and how despite being obnoxious, loud, rough, and gross he still was able to get nearly everyone to like him. Meanwhile, she struggled with being tolerated by her Wagstaff peers that weren't her siblings.

Zeke thinks it’s insane that Tina could be jealous of him when he’s jealous of her. Zeke wish he had Tina’s life with parents that aren’t divorced and siblings he could he could hang out with all the time. Not to mention Tina had years to develop the relationships she has with people. Zeke’s family moved around a lot so he had no choice but to make a quick impression on people because he never knows when he’s going to move away again. Even if Tina thinks she has no friends, she always had her Gene and Louise to turn to; Zeke had no one in his family because they were either too old/busy to bother with him, too young to even walk, or only visits for a little while because they live in another state.

Tina grows to appreciate Zeke more after this conversation and officially sees him as a friend rather than Jimmy Jr’s friend that she just has to learn to live with and has mixed feelings over the fact that he has a crush on her.

2. Zeke becomes Louise and Gene’s plan B (or Z for the initial humor) whenever Tina is down in the dumps after Jimmy Jr cancels a date last minute (That is if Zeke isn’t the one Jay Ju canceled on Tina for already). Just a platonic get together so Tina can get her mind off of how much of a jerk Jay Ju is being again. (Kind of like Peppermint Patty forcing Charlie Brown to go to the fair with her so she can help him gets his mind off Snoopy leaving for his original owner in in “Snoopy, Come Home”)

3. Tina succeeds getting Zeke into The Equestranauts series and Zeke unironically talks about the show in the open with her whenever she brings up first.

4. Tina is the first to join Zeke and Peter’s Women Issues Group to help support her friend.

5. Let’s face it, probably one of the reasons Zeke has a crush on Tina is because she probably has some of the biggest boobs in their grade (not the biggest but one of the biggest anyway). It’s not the only reason, but we can’t deny it’s not part of the reason. Zeke being a boob guy is part of his character and we just have to deal with it like we have to deal with Tina being a butt gal. Darn hormonal teenagers! Lol (Heck I should have named my Zekina Beauty and the Beast idea, Booty and the Breast XD)

6. Tina basically becomes 50% of Zeke’s impulse control while everyone else holds the other half of his impulse control which is dangerous since one of the holders of the other 50 percent is Louise.

7. Tina learns to put her foot down more and not be as easily influenced by Louise thanks to Zeke’s help (which also helps in turn to help her be more solid in her being 50 percent of Zeke’s impulse control).

8. When Zeke and Tina get together, Zeke loves giving pda and Tina loves receiving it, but she tries to not overdo it so she isn’t responsible for her family losing business by being too obnoxious with their affection.

9. When they start dating, it’s easier for Tina to count the times Zeke doesn’t have one of his arms around her or hold her hand than it is when he does.

10. Zeke and Tina get married on the beach. Though, they joke about getting married at the aquarium due to it being a church once.

11. After their first time together Tina calls Zeke Zbee assuming that all this time Tbird was just the first letter of her name and a reference to the birds and the bees and had no idea Tbird was short for the name of a car. Zeke got a lot of mileage out of that one (no pun intended)

12. Wrasslin’ is Zeke and Tina’s euphemism for hanky panky, Louise and Gene teases them every now and then about it once they found out.

13. Zeke handles the money related problems in the relationship because he is better at math in comparison to Tina, not the best but still better than Tina.

14. Their first child will be named Daniel or Danielle (depending which gender on I choose) either way the kid will be nicknamed Dani

15. What Zeke loves most about Tina is how she’s always full of surprises. She can be a weird, sweet, insecure, do gooder nerd one moment and the next a fearless, troublemaking badass. A strange anomaly wrapped in a mystery that he wants to solve.

16. What Tina loves most about Zeke is the fact that he really believes she’s this interesting, unsolvable mystery. The girl from her inner world she wishes she was is someone that Zeke already believes she is and she never wants to lose that.

17. Zeke and Tina tried to help set up Saucy up on hermit crab dates at one point, but it didn’t work out. You can’t force love in the wild.

18. Zeke probably hates robots because they keep taking the jobs his family applies to and forcing them to move. Either that or he saw the Terminator too young and now is scarred for life.

19. I can see Zeke reading an erotic friend fiction at one point and leaving the review, “Hot stuf Tbird! Cud use more boobies tho ;].” Tomatina (tomato faced tina) appears after that. (Yes Zeke also spells bad XD)

20. Because of his wrestling background, he probably has the potential to give good massages. Tina certainly would want to put that to the test as soon as possible when they are married.

21. Tina makes it her mission to get the best gift for Zeke every birthday and Christmas. Zeke likes to tease her about it and make it a challenge for her to figure it out. It’s frustrating but she knows he only does it to make the point he’ll love whatever she gets him no matter what, as long as it’s not a robot of any kind.

22. Back to when they were teenagers, Tina and Zeke probably used his hidey hole a lot to privately console each other and talk about their current issues troubling them once they became closer friends.

Shaky fanfiction scene ideas (but I’ll still format it as the headcanon list even though the majority of the numbers are part of one story narrative):

1. Everyone comments about how close Zeke and Tina’s friendship has gotten which both deny and Tina feels that Zeke’s that way too everyone because of his personality. Even Jimmy Jr. is a bit threatened by how close Zeke and Tina are now even though Zeke never and will never cross a line. Jimmy Jr. honestly preferred when Tina hated Zeke because he knows how easily she falls in love with guys that are nice to her (especially ones she knows has a crush on her). Tina would of course be insulted by how little Jimmy Jr trusts her loyalty to their relationship.

2. Tina breaks up with Jimmy Jr. after high school when she realizes he’s never going to fully commit to promising her to be faithful during a long distance relationship. Jimmy Jr. and Zeke’s friendship falls apart as well when Zeke chooses to go to comfort Tina first before JJ.

3. She takes a break from dating for a while after the Jimmy Jr. heart break. After her date break, despite the chemistry she feels with Zeke, she will still continue to date other guys before she’s ready to acknowledge her feelings. Zeke’s also has his fair share of dates with other girls as well. They like to laugh over their failed dates and help each other move on.

4. Tina leaves to go to college to become a novelist. She’s delighted to see Dillon and Susmita to be going to the same college and thanks the heavens above that she may finally have a friend group to call her own that’s not terrible to her. Unfortunately, her personal hell comes true when finds out she’s roommates with Tammy Larsen.

5. To afford to go to college, Zeke tries to join the navy but they reject him because of his ADHD. His dad kicks him out at 18. So with nowhere to go he offers to work at Bob’s Burgers for a place to sleep until he can find a job and his own place to stay. Zeke is right at home with the Belcher family and is delighted that Bob is willing to teach other things besides burgers upstairs in the Belcher kitchen. This confirms to Zeke even more that he wants to go to culinary school.

6. Zeke and Tina would still text each other a lot when Tina is away in college (Tina would eventually get her own phone that’s not only for emergency before college, don’t ask me how XD). No way is Zeke going to let Tina and him become estranged, much to Tammy’s annoyance (a girl’s gotta sleep sometimes lol) and massive jealousy.

7. On summer break of college, Tina would visit her family home. She as well as Zeke would be shocked by all the changes their bodies and attire went through while they were apart. Zeke would lift her up in a big, bear hug to greet his good friend and push down the funny feelings in his tummy while everybody else joins in on the hug.

8. The sexual tension in the air would be so thick that it would need a chainsaw to break it apart. Louise and Gene would have fun with making it worse while Tina is home.

9. Jimmy Jr. would also be back in town during Tina’s summer break. Tina would be lying if she said that Jimmy Jr didn’t take care of himself well as well. Jimmy Jr would happen to be single at the time and also found Tina she aged gracefully too. Jimmy Jr. would ask her to dinner with him to catch up. Knowing full well he is trying to do, Tina agrees to go. Zeke finds out about Tina seeing Jimmy Jr and tell her to have a nice time even though he’s dying inside. He can’t force her to love him, so why try to stop her from who she wants to be with more.

While Tina goes to meet up with Jay Ju, Zeke “borrows” some beer to ease the pain of letting go. Louise would find everything out and slap some sense into a drunken Zeke. Whether she admits it or not, she’s on team Zeke and there’s no way she would let Tina let Jimmy Jr hurt her again or see her practically adopted brother be sad over this easily fixable thing.

Louise would remind Zeke that him and JJ aren’t friends anymore so what is stopping him from barging in to the restaurant telling Tina that he wants her bad and killing JJ. Even in his drunken state Zeke wouldn’t want to kill JJ, but he would agree with Louise that he’s been playing it safe in the friendship for too long and it’s time to rock the boat.

When Louise and Zeke make it to the restaurant, Tina would already be leaving the place looking like she did something very cathartic. It would be revealed that Tina basically only agreed to meet up with JJ again just to make it clear to him that she outgrew him and that there’s no chance that they will ever get back together again after everything he put her through, that and get a free meal.

Louise would be proud of her sister to finally overcome the JJP drug while also pushing Zeke to say what he went there to say. Zeke nerves and drunken state would get the better of him and he would zoom to the nearest trash can to barf. After an awkward ride of silence home, Tina would help give Zeke water until he would be sober enough to talk things over.

Zeke would pour his heart out that he still holds a torch for Tina and never stopped even when they were doing great as just friends. He wanted to tell her so much sooner but it was never the right time. Then when Tina came back for summer, he thought fate finally gave him and Tina a chance to start something. That is until Jimmy Jr popped in back to town at the worst possible time. He was so heartbroken that he thought he missed his shot again that he was going to drink the pain away until Louise stopped his pity party.

He would say screw it whether it was the right or wrong time to say it because he’s done staying silent just so the next long necked Casanova can come and steal her heart while he just learns to live with it. If Tina still didn’t want to give him a chance, he would be fine with that, but at least he got what he needed off of his chest. His only hope now would be that if Tina did reject his confession they would still be friends.

It would be Tina’s turn to get something out of her hand and give it to Zeke, it was an after dinner mint from the restaurant. Tina would tease him that she didn’t want to kiss someone with barf breath. Zeke never would have dreamed that he would be trying to suck through a mint so fast.

Their kiss would be soft and innocent at the start but get more and more intimate once Tina wordlessly gives Zeke permission to do so. Years of unreciprocated love pouring out and being shared by one another and it makes them both feel like the only people in the world that matter to each other for a moment.

10. After they become official, Jimmy Jr apologizes to both of them for real this time and hopes that one day maybe they could all be friends again. Not wanting to hold any grudges, Zeke and Tina want to bury the hatchet with Jimmy Jr. but make it clear they aren’t pals yet and they want to see that Jimmy Jr. earns their trust first.

Okay, that’s all that I have stored up in my brain for ZekexTina headcanons and fanfiction ideas (which is basically just a bunch of scenes that form into one big story honestly, I’m not very good at making my ideas small XD)

Okay here’s a bonus headcanon for Gene. His favorite song from Veggietales is Barbara Manatee and thus formed his attraction to the manatee puppet in that ship kidnapped episode.

SECRET SANTA WEEK 3!

Thank you to everyone who signed up to participate! And remember if you missed signing up for this week, you have the option to join in for the final week!

Each character participating in this week’s Secret Santa has (at random) been given a holiday-inspired alias. Below the cut is an alphabetized list of aliases and their respective questionnaire answers.

In just a few moments you should receive via Tumblr IM and a Discord message letting you know which alias your character has been paired with to deliver a Secret Santa gift.

Remember that you have until 11:59PM EST on Friday to submit your gift to the Main or April for your assignee.

Severus chuckled and crawled onto the bed with her. Narcissa had taken Saffron out to an early girls’ date and he wasn’t sure when they’d be back. At least they would have some time to themselves. “I would very much love to stay here, my darling. Perhaps we can arrange that. Though, it’ll be difficult for you to run an entire country all the way from over here,” he teased. Severus kissed her as she leaned over to him. He was so bloody happy. He’d never felt this way before in his life.

However, all good things had to come to an end. Severus, Hermione, and Saffron returned home as usual. He unpacked everyone, and while Hermione got Saffron ready for dinner, he went to sort through the mail that had piled up in his house. He sorted through the copies of the Daily Prophet, still unsure how the hell he was still subscribed to this trash. He had asked to be taken off the list, but they just kept sending it to him.

However, one issue caught his eye. He picked it up, his eyes widening at the cover on the front page. It was him and Hermione on the beach, canoodling and… well, he knew exactly what they’d been doing. He doubted the snoopy photographer had, else it never would have ran on the front page. He quickly skimmed through the story on the front, then flipped to where the rest of it was. There were pictures of him with Saffron and Hermione, the Malfoys and them together, everything. He shook his head. They were painting Hermione to be this prostitute and him out to be some sort of pimp. This was not good. Fuck. They should have been more discreet. He just hadn’t thought he’d needed to hide overseas on an island.

Severus looked up as Hermione and Saffron came in. He quickly moved some other mail over the paper in his hand and shook his head. “Nothing,” he lied as Hermione questioned him. She wasn’t stupid, she knew something was up. He forced a smile and went to Saffron, kneeling to her height. “What does my princess want for dinner, hmm? Whatever you want.”

“Let’s… go to a place!” Saffron grinned. “I am dressed all pretty,” she said as she gestured down to her outfit.

“Well… why don’t we stay in?” Severus suggested gently. “Daddy doesn’t feel too well, I’d like to just stay here and cook something for you,” he said. He glanced up at Hermione and couldn’t help but feel… annoyance, anger. It wasn’t her fault, deep down he knew that, but he was acting emotionally right then. He was just upset that Saffron’s privacy had been invaded. He couldn’t give less of a shit about his own, but hers was sacred. He had worked so hard to keep her out of the public eye, and now all that was tainted… by a scandal, no less.

“Okay. ‘Mione, what do you —” Saffron started.

“Actually, ‘Mione needs to go home,” Severus said, cutting her off. “Back to her home. And her boyfriend,” he said with a bit more venom than intended. “Don’t you?” he asked as he looked up at Hermione.

Pardon?

Hermione looked across at him, immediately feeling the deepest sense of hurt. She felt incredibly uncomfortable all of a sudden, not quite knowing if he was being serious or not. Yet, he looked serious. “Oh, I... Yes.” She was confused, but she wasn’t going to let that show any further. She turned away, moving out into the hallway, waving her hand and muttering a charm under her breath to ensure that all of her belongings were in her suitcase.

She hesitated for a moment, shocked. He had wanted her there. He had wanted to help her leave Ron... what was this about? Did she say bye? She didn’t feel that she could. Yet, something in her was scared. She turned and walked back into the room, kneeling down in front of Saffron before he had a chance to say anything. “I’m sure that I’ll see you again sometime soon, Saff.” She smiled reassuringly at her, before pressing a kiss to her cheek. Slowly, she stood back up, shooting Severus a look before turning and walking out of the room.

That was all she was worth, hmm? A holiday fuck far away from reality.

The house was deadly silent.

She dropped her keys into the bowl before letting go of the handle of her suitcase. She walked through into the kitchen, nearly jumping out of her skin at the sight of him sat at the table. He looked up at her through narrowed eyes and her blood ran cold.

“Ron, I don’t-”

He stood and walked out, before returning moments later and shoving something into her waiting hands.

She looked down at the newspaper, her eyes wide.

Shit.

She opened it up, looking through it and seeing a bigger spread on them. Her heart was racing and she felt sick to her stomach. She looked up at him, the hurt in his eyes pained her. “I can explain...”

“Don’t you think that does it for you? Snape? What the fuck are you thinking?”

She closed her eyes, taking everything he had to throw at her. Was this it? Had he seen this? What was it, hmm? Was he embarrassed to be seen with a younger woman, her? She didn’t know. The whole article was sickening, and insinuating all sorts of nasty things. What would this do for her reputation? How could they print such personal pictures? How could this happen? She dropped the newspaper from her hands, immediately pulling her wand from her pocket. “Incendio.” She watched the paper catch fire, before the ashes fell to the ground in its place.

What did she do now? She moved to sit down at the table, “I’m sorry. I don’t know... I don’t know what came over me.” She felt mortified. She truly was. She was so confused though. What had she done? “I don’t think that this will.. be a problem. I don’t think...” She closed her eyes, shaking her head. “I hope that you can forgive me...” He then scraped his chair legs back before standing and storming out of the room, leaving her alone. She put her head in her hands, not quite able to hold back the tears now. She should have known that it was too good to be true. Her mind was swarming with all the outcomes and consequences of this, and she felt so horrendous in that moment. How was this happening?

in case ur nosey or happen to not want to hear about my tragic and frankly depressing life.

so I’m kind of just fucked up. I had two really great people in my life.

My best friend J, and my exgirlfriend K.

Sometime around August I basically had a breakdown. I spent a week in a mental hospital and I felt really good about what happened there and I wanted to change and get better.

I told my best friend and my exgirlfriend all of my boundaries. I didn’t want unexpected visits, I wouldn’t go hang out at the illegal beach with them, I wouldn’t drink with them, I had a lot.

They stopped including me, talking to me. They did stuff to purposely hurt me, they started inviting my sister to things instead of me. They started getting upset when I told them it was hurting my feelings and I didn’t want to be left out.

Every time I got hurt, I’d tell them. Every time, they cared less and less.

Eventually ever little thing made me upset. Everything. I’ve always been bad at controlling my emotions but it was worse.

Then came Election Day. I knew Trump was going to win. I had no doubts, and I was so scared. My mom was adamant that Hilary would win and we’d be safe. The day after the election, my mom cried all day. She cried and couldn’t stop, she scared my foster sisters (1 and 2yrs) so much she had to leave the house. I was so angry and I felt helpless. My friend J’s Mom posted on Facebook about the election (she voted Johnson and I was pissed and she was ranting). She had been the second mother figure in my life, and she let me down. She disappointed me so much. So I let her have it. I said horrible things, things I didn’t mean. I apologized later, and she forgave me and said she’d always forgive me. But it was too late. J said I was a psychopath and I couldn’t be upset about things I’d never told them (pre hospital). She told me she never wanted to see me again.

I was fucking devastated. I fucked up, and though I’d been forgiven by her mom, I’d lost my best friend.

K was all I had left. I still loved her, we’d broken up and she’d asked to get back together. I broke up with her, I thought my anxiety and depression and everything about me was making her worse. She had problems of her own and I knew I was just fucking them up.

I believed she’d be better off without me. I was toxic and everyone around me suffered. My mom had to pay for my school. My sister was overlooked because everyone was worried about me. My mom couldn’t go back to work for fear of leaving me alone.

I finally believed in myself enough to let her back in. I asked her if we could go on a date, she said band and school were too stressful for a relationship. Band ended and she stopped being as stressed. I asked again, she said yes. We never got to go out, she instead decided to go hang out with J and some other people I also knew, and saw a movie without me.

I asked again, what we were, if we could ever be more again, every time she came over we ended up sleeping together and I didn’t like being friends with benefits. I couldn’t stand it when I loved her so much.

K came over one day, told me she loved me. She wanted to try again, and I believed her.

I knew J was still friends with K, so me being the snoopy fuckhead I am, I read her text messages with J.

She’d lied. I don’t know what she wanted from me. She spent hours making fun of me with J, saying I was so blind to think she’d ever love me again. K said she was in love with another girl (who when we first started dating, I had suspected she had a crush on, I confronted her, she said no, and I trusted her). K said during the summer, while we were still dating, she spent the day with the other girl and she realized she might not love me anymore.

After a while, I forgave her. I knew we could never be more than friends. I didn’t spite her for loving someone else. I hated that she lied to me.

A couple months later, I was mending things with J. I’ve known her since I was 12 and we’ve been best friends since. It kills me to miss moments with her. I had a suspicion that J and K were keeping something from me.

Again, I hate myself. I read her texts. Again.

Both of them, who I thought were my best friends in the world, were humiliating me. They said I was a psychopath, that I was crazy. They said my mom was stupid for putting up with me. They made fun of everything I was self conscious about. My room, my health, my life. The fact I dropped out. That I should be in a hospital if I were “really” sick. They said I do it all for attention.

I just don’t understand.

I don’t think I ever will.

I wish I’d never got out of that stupid hospital.

Ugh.

Nelly Wedge Shoes by JBU: A Shoe Review!

Whoa Nelly! I love my new Nelly Shoes from JBU by Jambu Footwear. The Nellys are the newest pair of springtime shoes I've received from Jambu as a brand ambassador, and they are so fabulous. They're as comfortable as can be, chic, and fun - they've got it all! We've been having classic springtime weather here in Santa Cruz -- rain, followed by sun, followed by wind, followed by sun... Every time the sun comes out, I jump at the opportunity to get out of my rainboots and cozy socks, and put on some fancy fun shoes instead.

I went out to pick some limes from our tree to share with my yoga students, and then all the pets came out for driveway time. We often do doggie training in the driveway, so everyone was very excited. Especially for everyone's all-time favorite trick: high fives!

Jambu has a lot of great vegan shoes for women, including a bunch of super cute wedge shoes that are great for spring and summer time. (note: Jambu also makes a lot of shoes that aren't vegan, so be sure to check out their vegan shoes page, or double-check that the style you're grooving on is vegan. On their Jambu.com website, they have a vegan logo clearly indicated for the vegan styles).

Jambu makes so many different excellent wedge shoes and I always love their styling. Over the years I have had many different pairs of Jambu wedges and they have always been very comfortable for my feet. Since I teach yoga, I spent a lot of time barefoot, and I am also constantly taking my shoes on and off - before and after teaching. For years I pretty much only ever wore flip-flops! As a result, I really enjoy the opportunity to wear clothes and shoes that aren't for yoga! ha ha.

"nice to meet you" is another favorite trick.

Mostly they are just manically trying to get more treats from me. ha ha.

These Nelly wedges feel so comfortable, and they also look cute and special. It's such treat to put on a more dressy shoe and feel a bit more fancy and still have my feet feel so comfortable and happy! I have a secret affection for wearing high-heeled shoes from time to time, but darned if they aren't uncomfortable and impractical. These Nellys (and honestly, all the wedges I've owned from Jambu) are a wonderful exception to the rule. There's a little rise under the ball of the foot, so the heel is not actually very elevated. The insoles are made with memory foam, which is super cozy and very satisfying to walk on. Every time I put them on, I get a little pep in my step!

The day these shoes arrived, I opened the box, and put them on right away and set out for an afternoon with our house guests. They were immediately perfect! Love at first sight! Love at first stroll!

We took our guests out for a trip to the beach, and then we strolled down to the end of the Santa Cruz wharf to see the sea lions. I didn't want to get sand in my beautiful new shoes, so I took them off at the beach... but while my friends were swimming (brrr!), I did a little photo shoot with my new Nelly shoe friends. The material on these shoes is all-vegan (obviously!), and is a nice quality faux leather, with snazzy patterns die cut through it.

There's a velcro strap at the ankle, and as you can see in the bottom left picture, there is a cute little zip down the back of the heel, which helps get the shoe on and off more easily. There's a little faux suede flap on the inside that protects your heel from the zipper, so that's not noticeable at all once you have the shoes on your feet.

Footie also wants to get in on the cuddle action. A few years ago I bought this bench and installed this little mini-patio in the front yard, as an Xmas present for Mr. VE&T. This has become a special spot for him and Footie. They like to sit out here and be quiet together. Footie lets me sit with him too, but Mr. VE&T is obviously his favorite person.

I hope you can see from these pictures of me playing with the pets just how easy and comfortable these Nelly shoes are to move in and walk in. They feel great and since they also look so cute, I feel doubly great when I wear them. I've never had a shoe quite like these before - a dressy sandal! - and now I can't wait for more sunshine so I wear these all summer long. I especially love how these Nellys look with my capri jeans or with a skirt, so you can see the cute ankle styling.

As far as sizing goes, I found the Nelly shoes to be running a half-size on the large side. I ordered them first in size 9, which is my usual size, but that pair felt too big. When I got a second pair in 8.5, the fit was absolutely perfect. If you're unsure, I'd suggest trying the smaller size, or buying both sizes and returning the one that doesn't fit right.
