OK, I have a solution for El in 'I'll crawl home to her'. Magically wish for home to the other universe, grab Olivia on his way there, save Liv, and then live as an awkward yet very attractive threesome. Voila. Jokes aside, I love this fic, and it makes me hurt every chapter I read, because I love Olivia, but I mourn Liv, and I too am torn like Elliot.
Ooof now I'm thinking about Elliot and two Olivias and I...
(ok I was gonna crack a joke about the power struggle between the two Olivias but lbr who would know to care for fuck Olivia better than Olivia herself....)
I can't wait to show y'all where this is going but in the meantime I'm so excited that you're enjoying it 💜

Ready, set, ah fuck
I’m back on my a/b/o shit yo, but make it Top Gun.
For more about this au, check out the "viri does top gun" tag!
I’ve been agonising about how to swing this for like two weeks, but now I’m at a point where I might be kinda happy with the foundations of it, so I’m putting it on here in the faint hope that it’ll pressure me into sticking with it(hehe because that always works).
SO! Because military setting(gross for realsies, fuck yeah for fic amirite?) it’s a wee bit tricky, but let’s say I like a challenge. What I do know is that it basically floats around a few hard yesses that I started out with:
Maverick is am omega, which means that in some point in the 80s it should have been legal for omegas to join the navy.
Ice Man is an alpha, and because we want maximum angst, we’re just gonna go ahead and say that at that point, fraternising within your unit was a BIG NO.
Ice already had two kids by the time he went to Top Gun. I’m thinking marriage/pack bond of convenience, because he’s from a rich(Richy richidy RIIIICH) family, receiving his inheritance is contingent upon some stupid shit like whether or not you’re married with kids and at which level in your career you are. Sarah! Lovely society beauty omega Sarah would also like to get her inheritance thank you very much, and to get the fuck out from under her family’s thumb. They make bored-to-tears eye-contact at a gala and it was lets-be-rich-and-independent-together-also-hey-you’re-pretty-great at first sight. (Later, when Sarah is introduced to fellow omega Olivia Kerner, Ice has to threaten Slider with bodily harm if he doesn’t stop laughing, because now he has TWO omegas in his pack that are neither related nor attracted to him).
Of the dagger squad, Bob, Phoenix and Fritz are omegas, Rooster, Hangman, Payback, Halo and Yale are alphas, with Coyote, Fanboy, Harvard and Omaha as betas (and boy, did I overthink this to the high heavens. There’s a chart. It’s colour-coded).
These are the four laws of Viri’s Top Gun Omegaverse, around which everything else was contructed, kinda. So, as I mentioned, maximum angst required. So prior to let’s say, 1980(this might change because, uh, space and future and stuff) omegas were not permitted to join the armed forces because the contemporary family unit would’ve been threatened!!! But ya’ll know about the sexual liberation of the 60-70s, and so things were a’changin’. There was also! The first successful, long-term birth control method(suppressants) which meant the nay-sayers lost their ace. So, during the 80’s the law banning omegas was lifted, and voila, Pete ‘Maverick’ Mithcell waltzed(read; clawed, kicked, swung) his way in and bam.
But then there were some…issues. Mainly that suppressants, especially the kind the brass recommended, were not that reliable and were actually pretty fucking catastrophically bad for some users. Quite a few lawsuits dominated headlines for the latter half of the 80s and ultimately the powers that be put the issue of omegas in the military under a moratorium, which meant no new omegas could join, and omegas that had already joined were holding onto their jobs by the skin of their teeth.
For Mav, that meant agreeing to be a test subject for some things [cough super soldier cough] and a few years later, BAM a brand new product hit the omega birth control market: the implant.
How this new implant works is that it prevented heats until a certain threshold of ‘happy, pack, nesting’ hormones was met, after which it only kept them regular and prevented babies. Badda bing badda boom, heats during deployments problem solved, right??
Well, no. Because where before there was mostly warrior packs(something left over from ancient-ish times, where soldiers were harvesting when they weren’t fighting), where betas, alphas and yes, even omegas, only formed a bond based on like, camaraderie, you-watch-my-back-I’ll-watch-yours stuff. Temporary, an instinctual drive towards conflict-resolution(lol idk) and mutual survival! Warrior packs also tend to be way bigger, whereas family packs, even before The Contemporary Family Unit, tended to be small. 50 people vs. 12, maybe 15, far often even fewer than that. However, the unforeseen side effect of the implant was that omegas only went into heat with people they really trusted and even felt compatible with. Which, shocker apparently to the people in charge, can totally be the people you’re deployed with.
And so, for the first time since the light bulb and the industrial revolution, family packs emerged. Where you get any number of alphas, betas and omegas living together, thriving, living their best lives, and not necessarily cohabitating with the sole purpose of reproducing! Back in Ye Olden Days, you could have a massive fucking house with like, four family units smooshed together, sharing resources and childcare. In modern times, it’s a little more transient, in that most people enter a family pack during their college years, basically a pack to mature and grow with that isn’t your parents, until you find The One(or two) and form a Contemporary Family Unit(wow I’m getting tired of hearing myself think that). So you deploy with you Ship Family, kinda, and come back to your Home Family(though with time these came to overlap, A Lot).
(Yes what I’m saying is that the Top Gun Class of 86 formed the first ever military family pack and it’s all Mav’s fault)
Anyway for now I’ll stop rambling. This was mostly to sort it out in my head, because I tend to ramble(yes, even more than here) when its just myself in my notebook, and because I’m lazy half of it doesn’t get written down and thus forgotten or tripped over later as a plot/logic-hole.

i love all of your gifs/edits sm!!! i hope this isn't bothering u but could you make a tutorial explaining how to do the coloring you did on your last santana gifset? ( /post/658958904233000961/2k-celebration-favorite-female-character-per ) if not i totally understand i just think it looks so pretty <33
ref. thank u so much omg ur so sweet !!! 💘 i’ll try to explain briefly using miss olivia as an example<3 i’m terrible @ explaining ps related stuff but i hope this helps u out 😚
*** i highly suggest choosing a gif that doesn’t have too much movement! this way, it’s much easier to color around the person (unless u can find a way to work around it if the gif does have a lot of movement)
to make something like the first gif of that set, color ur gif like normal. then go ahead and make a new layer and grab ur paint brush. keep the opacity at 100% and pick the color u want to pop out. for this instance, i’m gonna use purple. then start coloring around ur person, set the layer from normal to color to achieve something like this
and you can leave it like that if ur happy with it! but for my santana set, i wanted to make the color pop out even more so i decided to make a new layer after this and click the gradient tool. set the first color to a darker color of ur choice, then the second color to the color u painted with initially like this<3
then just drag it across ur gif until ur satisfied and set the layer to hard light. from here, i like to add a clipping mask to that gradient layer and grab my brush (i set it to 60% opacity) and erase around her face. i then set that layer’s opacity to 80% to get this.
*** u can always and might have to alter the opacity according to ur liking/ur gif, i tend to change it from 50% to 80%
again, u can keep it like this but i like to duplicate that same gradient layer and set it from hard light to screen, and change the opacity to 100% for this final outcome!
and then for the second gif of that gifset, i did the same exact thing but added a purple gradient map beneath the paint layers
and voila! happy giffing, lmk if u have any qs or concerns 💋

Of Kings & Queens (Part One)
Warnings: none! A/N: Here’s the first part! This is mostly context to the story, with a sneak peak of Prince Charlie! I’ll upload a little more tomorrow! AU!Prince Charlie Gillespie x Fictional Character Disclaimer: This is a FICITONAL writing piece! In no way do I claim characters in this piece act this way in real life.
Masterlist *now taking requests ;)
Part 1/Part 2/Part 3/Part 4/Part 5/Part 6
Four Kingdoms stood strong. North, East, South and West. Four Royal Families would unite the land. The Blood of Gillespie would rule the cold North, bountiful with forestry and game. The Blood of Shada would rule the Eastern coast and land, mastering the stormy seas and its’ treasures. The Blood of Joyners would rule the hot Southern lands, gathering the resources for petrol that kept the Kingdoms running. The Blood of Lee would rule the golden coast of the Western lands, providing crops and livestock to feed the people. In each Kingdom, a Ruler to bring prosperity and peace to all its’ people.
Dawn was breaking and people were already moving busily about the Western Kingdom. As more people woke, the excitement in the air increased, for today was a special day. Festivities would start early in the day and go late into the night as the Western Kingdom celebrated the coming of age the Princess. Not only was it the Princess’ birthday, it also signified that the Princess was now officially on the Royal Market, searching for a partner to become King of the Western Kingdom. Tonight’s celebration at the castle would bring people from all over the nation, including the royal families from the Eastern, Southern, and Northern kingdoms. Farmers harvested and packed their crops and livestock, Bakers made fresh delights by the dozens, Florists put out their best and brightest flowers and the Merchants polished their wares. This special occasion would bring people from all over the Four Kingdoms to their stores in celebration and vacation. All the work that was being put into the celebration brought the citizens together and united them on this special day.
Well... At least the citizens were excited...
The Princess was awoken by her best friend and handmaiden, much to her displeasure. She groaned and pulled the covers over her head as the curtains in her room were parted, trying to ignore the hustle and bustle going around her. She knew what day it was, and this made her want to stay in bed for much longer. She even debated not getting up at all. As her handmaiden made herself busy and gave directions to other servants that had entered her room, the princess pulled a pillow over her head, trying to make it clear that she had no intention of getting up. With a heavy sigh, her confidant gave the other servants orders and ushered them out before shutting the door softly behind them.
“Liv. I love you and you know how I feel about today, but I would really appreciate it if you would cooperate so we don’t have the queen on our butts this early” the princess groaned and her best friend pulled the covers off her body. She flinched at the bright sunlight streaming into her room.
“I’m not getting up today Sav. It’s not happening” Savannah shook her head and rolled her eyes at her friend. She knew that Olivia could be quite the drama queen, but today she needed her to cooperate so that she wouldn’t fall behind schedule. Savannah glanced at the clock, already knowing that the extra 15 minutes she allotted was now gone.
“Liv, unless you want to bathe in a cold bath, you will get up or so help me I will dump ice water on you myself!” Olivia groaned and finally sat up looking at her best friend with disdain. “Listen, I know you don’t want to do Today. I get it. But you don’t need another reason to get on the nerves of the King and Queen today” Savannah’s voice sounded slightly distressed and Olivia felt a little guilty at her dramatization this morning.
Olivia and Savannah were best friends ever since she could remember. Savannah was the only friend she had growing up in the palace and was the only friend her parents let her have that wasn’t Royalty. Sure, there were the Duchesses and Countesses of the smaller lands in the Western Kingdom, but Olivia always found them snooty or rude. Savannah’s family had been helping the royal family for generations and they were integral parts of the inner workings of the palace. Naturally, when Savannah’s parents were busy at work Savannah would wander the halls until she found Olivia. The two were like sisters and the King and Queen appreciated the hard work her family put in to serving the Royal family.
And while the Royal family paid them handsomely while providing them lodging, Olivia couldn’t help but feel a little guilty at times when the difference in their status showed. Olivia rarely wore the same dress twice, while Savannah had a very modest and small wardrobe. Olivia had a private instructor, while Savannah went to the school with other children. But Savannah never really cared and that’s what Olivia loved about her. She was a true and honest friend who Olivia felt safe confiding in.
“Sorry Sav. I didn’t mean to make this any harder on you than it already has been” Olivia offered her friend a smile, patting the spot beside her on the bed. “Think you can spend a few minutes off your feet? Debrief me on the day if you will?” Savannah greatly accepted the spot, giving her a knowing look and a big sigh.
“Well Princess-” Olivia glared at Savannah at the title. “You need to get into the baths and get clean so I can do your hair and make up before the lady the Queen hired arrives. There is no way I’m letting you face the neighbouring nations’ heirs with makeup and hair that I don’t approve of.” Olivia laughed at Savannah’s possessiveness.
“Do we know if the royal families are coming or just their heirs?” Olivia gave a stretch, preparing herself to start the day.
“To my knowledge, just the heirs... But I hear that Prince Charles is quite handsome!” Olivia rolled her eyes as Savannah winked at her. “What? I can’t help it! You hear the chitter chatter in the palace halls. They arrived yesterday and some of the other servants have already been gushing about him. He’s apparently really charming and great husband material” Savannah saw the look of defeat briefly cross her friend’s eyes, before covering it up with an annoyed sigh. “But enough of that. Let’s get you cleaned and dressed and ready to greet our guests.”
***
“Alright Liv, take a deep breath and hold it, I’m pulling up the zipper!” Olivia did as she was told, while Savannah pulled up the zipper to her dress. She was already dreading the fact that she would have to wear the elaborate garb for several hours. Although the light blue gown was absolutely stunning and represented her fashion sense too, she didn’t expect it to come in several pieces. After putting on two layers of skirt, she had a separate top that needed to be zipped up and a cape draped over her shoulders. She could already feel the weight of the material weighing her down a bit and she sighed at the fact that they hadn’t put on her jewelry yet. Savannah and her helpers busied themselves about putting on a bracelet here and a necklace there. Another girl was putting on her earrings while the other made small hems to her dress. Olivia felt like the dolls that her and Savannah played with as little girls.
“Voila! I’ve outdone myself!” Savannah exclaimed, admiring her bestfriend’s transformation, stepping away from her so that she could see herself in the mirror. As much as Olivia didn’t want to like this moment, she couldn’t stop the smile that graced her face. Her best friend had listened to her every request about her dress. Her mother insisted that her first dress be floor length, modest and a Queen Ann neckline. She requested that the dress be midnight blue with the lace accents to be gold. Her mother criticized her colour choice, saying that dark colours were for the evening, not the morning. Olivia argued that if she had no say in the dress at all, she would go naked, a response in which her mother glared angrily at her. However, as she looked at herself in the mirror, she realized that Savannah had taken her mother’s requests and her requests and blended them together. She had a high waisted, A-line skirt that held the princess look her mother wanted, but it wasn’t so big that Olivia felt like a pastry. The Queen Ann neckline was a dark blue mesh with gold lace accents that extended into long sleeves for her arms. Her bodice held very little decoration as the bottom of her dress held all the royal ornate details. The velvet floor length cape was held together by a golden broach.
As per tradition, Olivia wore her family jewels. The gold diamond festoon necklace sat proudly upon her collar and the gold and sapphire earrings were prominent but not over done. A small dainty gold bracelet sat on her wrist and her family ring decorated her right hand. Her hair was neatly pulled back into a loosened braided low bun with the occasional curl framing her face.
“You’ve done a fine job Savannah” the girls jumped at the voice of the Queen. Quickly turning around, Savannah curtsied to her majesty and Olivia followed with a smaller curtsy. “Savannah, could you please grab the tiara out of the case?”
“Yes, your majesty” Savannah hurried over to the velvet case on the vanity and presented it to the Queen. The small but simple gold tiara sparkled in the light of the room. As the Queen gently picked the tiara up, Olivia bowed, lowering her head, a gesture she was all too familiar with. Her mother placed her tiara upon her head and held her face in her hands. She kissed her daughter on the head, careful not to get any lipstick on her.
“The gods have been great to bless me with a daughter as beautiful as you.” Olivia smiled at her mom, not expecting the sudden emotional tenderness she displayed. “Happy Birthday my dearest. Promise me you’ll try to behave yourself today?” Olivia scoffed and rolled her eyes.
“I’ll try” her mother chuckled softly.
“Just like your father... All I ask is that you give today a chance to be great. You might be surprised at the unexpected events that may present themselves to you” Olivia could never see herself being as polished as her mother. She knew her mother had her best interest at heart, but Olivia couldn’t help but feel like her mother was forcing her to fit into traditional roles of the Kingdom. “If you’ll excuse me, I must be on my way to the throne room. I shall see you shortly Olivia. Savannah, please ensure that the Princess does not stall. I would hate to have her tardy for her grand entrance.”
“Yes your highness!” Savannah curtsied as her mother and the remaining servants exited, leaving the two of them in the room. “Ready to go my lady?”
“Savannah, you know you can drop the formalities around me.” Olivia stepped off the round fitting platform, Savannah catching her arm as Olivia stumbled for a moment, not used to wearing heels. “It makes me feel weird!”
“I know, but we are going to be around tons of people today and most of them would probably have my head if I called you by name in front of them. I’ll be at your side the entire time, but when others are around, you have to remember I’m your attendant” Olivia sighed in slight disappointment, but she knew her friend was right.
“How is it that you’re not the Princess and I am? You’d be way better at this than I am” Savannah giggled at her remarks and dusted her dress off before they opened the door. They knew that her royal guards were right behind it and that as soon as they exited the room, their dynamic had to change.
“Please, I can’t hide my feelings as easily as you. When I think someone is an idiot, it’s clear all over my face and I don’t even notice it!” they shared a laugh as they opened the door and officially started the day.
But they didn’t expect to see a brown haired man zoom by them in hysterical laughter as a taller blonde man chased after him.
“Charlie! Get back here with my crown!” and the two disappeared around the corner. Olivia blinked in shocked, trying to process whether the scene in front of her happened or not. As her and Savannah shared a look and shrugged their shoulders, they realized that today was going to indeed be very eventful.

Alright. Part two of the “giving middle and last names to characters who don’t have one”, this time with Awakening. Hope you like it, and feel free to not agree with my naming choices! I’m sure there’s much more to disagree with this time around, given that we aren’t given so much ‘this was inspired by this place’ in Awakening. Still, please be kind! ____________________
And here comes the part where I explain myself:
‣ Names were infinitely harder this time because I had less to base it off of, and had to play the headcanon game. Most characters will have their full name chosen based on what went with their first name’s origin, and what names suited their personalities (and flowed well).
‣ One such instance of headcanon is Chrom being “Chrom Saros”, which was decided by the fact that I’d called his father “Saros” in fanfiction before. I imagine Chrom detests his full name because of its ties to his father.
‣ The name Sumia is of Arabic origin, so she gets an Arabic last name. Maybe she is biracial? Fun idea to toy with.
‣ Like Keaton and Kaden in the previous ones, Nowi made her last name up. She just picked something she thought sounded cool and cute, and went along with it.
‣ Panne was given the option to choose a last name, but chose nothing. If it wasn’t a taguel thing, what was the point? She was already the only taguel. Panne would always be Panne.
‣ Names for the most part in Plegia were inspired by desert countries, such as Algeria. Given Plegia’s desert aesthetics, I figured it would only make sense that those who hailed from there would be given names that were popular in real life desert countries.
‣ Any of the characters originating from Chon’sin were given Japanese names (with some slight adjustments to account for the Chon’sin love of apostrophes). There is not much sourcing on the background inspiration for Chon’sin other than the wiki briefly mentioning that it’s “sort of Japanese, a bit like Hoshido but much less influenced”. So I played around with some names and got that together.
‣ Some characters straight up have names without backgrounds. It happens in fantasy settings. Where it did, I just decided to flat out substitute in fantasy names. Miriel, for example, is a name that originates from fiction already. So I just slapped on some other fantasy names and voila.
‣ Walhart’s last name is linked not to his name’s origin, but to Alm of Echoes. If I remember correctly, Walhart is meant to be Alm’s descendant, so I figured it would make sense for the two of them to have names that match in some way. Plus, Walhart is another one of those fantasy names.
Anyway, that’s all I’ve got for now! I’d say “I’ll do Three Houses next”, but they’ve already got them haha. I suppose I could do any of the older games if someone wanted me to, but I’m afraid I don’t know the characters as well. Still, doesn’t mean I’m not willing to try ;)

Chess Not Checkers
Summary: King Liam and Queen Kendall finally have a meeting with Bradshaw and Isabella to discuss the betrothal treaty.
A/N: The final part of this Fracture trilogy, and probably my favorite one to write. Who knows what the writers have planned for Auvernal’s hostile takeover of Cordonia, but I’m not letting that shit fly not another damn second. As always, thanks for reading and enjoy!

Liam drops the tie in his hand and steps away from it, suddenly suspicious. “Why not? Is something wrong with them?
Moments pass and Kendall walks back into their bedroom, slipping on a pair of heels. “Nothing is wrong with your ties. But the color blue brings out your eyes, and we aren’t going for a warm and friendly aura. Wear red. You’ll look bold and commanding.”
Today is the day for their meeting with Bradshaw and Isabella. For the past week, he, Kendall and their group of close friends have been talking and going over plans to get Eleanor out of her betrothal to Bradshaw and Isabella’s son. While Olivia wanted to ambush them and have them killed as soon as they stepped foot in Cordonia, Kendall wanted to be as quick and civil as possible. While she isn’t above starting an international war, she doesn’t want that to be her first option.
Liam decided to step back on this and let Kendall take the lead when it came to dealing with Auvernal. He’s willing to intervene if the need arose, but for now, he is perfectly content with just silently supporting his queen. She has a solid plan of attack, and he’s excited to see everything play out.
“Red it is.”
Kendall finishes putting on her lipstick and drops the tube onto her nightstand, as Liam puts on a deep red tie. He slips on his jacket to complete the look, checking the pockets a few times, and the couple walks out of their private quarters, headed to Liam’s study, a guard a few steps behind, watching from a safe distance. Kendall demanded that they get better security, so they are currently in the process of testing out a few ex-military men and women.
Bastien greets them at the door to the study with a quick bow. “Your Majesties.”
“Hello Bastien. I take it our guests have settled in?” Liam asks.
“Yes, they’ve been in here for about 10 minutes.”
“And they haven’t caused any trouble right?”
Bastien shrugs. “They’re about as well behaved as we can expect them to be. No red flags, sir.”
“Very well.” Liam squeezes his wife’s hand, and she squeezes back. “Let’s get this show on the road.”
Bastien steps aside and lets them in. Bradshaw and Isabella are there, Isabella checking her nails, a bored expression on her face, Bradshaw standing at the bar cart, sipping on a glass of scotch. Liam bites down on his tongue in order to prevent himself from berating Bradshaw and calling him a tacky piece of shit for taking it upon himself to get a drink.
Kendall squeezes his hand once more before dropping it. “Bradshaw, Isabella! How was your flight here?”
“Nice. Thanks for sending your jet to get us.”
“No problem.”
“I will say your security detail is extremely...thorough,” Bradshaw continues. “They took all of my wife’s jewelry, all of our electronics. I couldn’t even keep my lucky handkerchief.”
“It’s a new security protocol,” Liam says. “This palace has been through...trying times recently, so we decided to take the necessary precautions. Surely you two understand.”
“Of course!” Isabella says brightly, trying to keep things as light as possible. She looks Kendall up and down, silently appraising the new mother. Kendall looks good, with her dewy skin, long brown hair drawn into a low ponytail and simple black dress. “Kendall, you look amazing! I could barely get out of bed for the first month after having my twins and I looked like a whale, but you’re glowing.”
“Thank you, Queen Isabella.”
“Yeah, you’d think after such a...traumatic birthing experience, you’d be lying low,” Bradshaw adds. “You must be made of steel.”
If the mention of her labor brought up any sort of emotion, Kendall refuses to show it. Liam studies her, and she remains absolutely calm, as if she didn’t hear Bradshaw at all.
“I’m from New York,” Kendall says with a shrug. “We’re tough people. Resilient.”
“I can see.”
“Why don’t we all have a seat?” Liam suggests. “There’s a lot that we have to talk about.”
“First and foremost, congrats on the little bundle of joy!” Isabella says excitedly. “Boy or girl?”
“Girl,” Liam confirms. “Named Eleanor after my late mother.” Isabella coos.
“A little princess! A future queen.” Bradshaw nods approvingly. “Congratulations.”
“Where is the princess?” Isabella asks. “We’d love to officially meet her.”
“She’s with her grandmother right now,” Kendall says. “And she’s only two weeks old, so she’s not accepting visitors at the moment.”
Isabella falters a bit but she quickly recovers. Kendall can tell she wasn’t expecting that as a response. “Very well. I guess we’ll have to meet her at another time.”
“When the rest of the world meets her at her anointing ceremony,” Kendall says, her tone short. “And not a moment sooner.”
“Now, now, Queen Kendall, simmer down,” Bradshaw starts. “You’re mighty tense for someone who’s practically family at this point.”
Kendall reels back, mostly in shock that Bradshaw had the audacity to get so familiar with her. Who the fuck does he think he is?
“The condescending orders may work for you and your marriage, King Bradshaw, but please never again make the foolish mistake of telling my wife what to do, especially in our home,” Liam warns, his jaw getting tense. “And thank you for bringing up this marriage alliance, because it’s the perfect segue.”
“When should we make the announcement?” Isabella asks. “I was thinking we could host a small gathering first, just so the kids get acquainted with each other first. I’m sure Isaac and Lyra will absolutely adore Eleanor.”
“That won’t be happening,” Kendall says with a shake of her head. “But speaking of Isaac and Lyra, I found out some wonderful information not too long ago.” Kendall sits back in her seat, beaming. “You two are married in name only.”
“Excuse me?”
“You heard me loud and clear, and it’s a pretty straightforward concept to grasp. Bradshaw needed a wife, Isabella was a gold digger and just cunning enough to get what she wanted. Match made in Hell if you ask me. You guys both have people on the side, and you live separate lives.”
Bradshaw is visibly flustered, but after a few tense seconds, he chuckles. “With all due respect, our marriage is none of your concern. And that had nothing to do with our children.”
“Oh, but it is and it does,” Kendall says. “Bradshaw, you don’t appreciate the art of storytelling. I’m building to my point. You guys are married on paper only. Which is fine, live how you want to live. But on my maternity leave, I’ve been doing a lot of reading. And I’ve been particularly fond of Auvernese history and inheritance laws.”
“What about it?”
“Six hundred years ago, your ancestor, King Marshall, married a woman named Catherine. He was still the Crown Prince at the time, they were young and in love. Sounds simple enough, but Catherine had been previously married, and that marriage produced a son, Harold. This was quite a scandal, for multiple reasons. But Marshall and Catherine wanted to be married. Marshall’s parents were against it, no way the heir could marry a divorcee, with a child. But Marshall persisted. After a long standoff, the then king Erik relented, but on one condition. He put it in writing that under no circumstances could a non-blood relative receive land or titles through royalty, and heirs were only legitimate if they were conceived within the marriage. The monarchy was to flow solely through the bloodline, come Hell or high water. Marshall accepted, and the amendment was added to your country’s Constitution, a document that can only be added to, never taken away from. It’s a harsh, strict law, and many people have fought it, but your country’s Supreme Court has never overturned it, nor has the European Court of Human Rights. Anyway, Marshall married Catherine, and they lived happily ever after, having 3 children of their own.”
“Now that I’m done with my history lesson, I’m sure you’re wondering what my point is,” Kendall continues. Her eyes flicker over to Isabella, who’s glaring daggers at her. “You want to tell him, or should I?”
Bradshaw looks between the two women, “Tell me what?”
“That your treaty mandates that the Crown Prince or Princess of Cordonia, child to King Liam and Queen Kendall, is to marry Prince Isaac, or Princess Lyra of Aurvernal, child of King Bradshaw and Queen Isabella, thereby uniting the two countries. Those are the exact words, your words. But Bradshaw, the problem with that is, you don’t have any children.”
“Excuse me?”
“Bradshaw, don’t listen to a word this woman says,” Isabella orders.
Kendall rolls her eyes at the demand. “Bella over here, was very reckless and wasn’t cautious of her ovulation cycle or taking precautions, because she didn’t get pregnant with your children. The twins belong to someone else. I did a little digging, and voila!” Kendall moves her arms dramatically, the boisterous New Yorker coming out. “I found the truth.”
The silence in the office is so thick, it threatens to stifle everyone.
“I don’t believe you,” Bradshaw says.
“I don’t care. Notice how your wife hasn’t jumped in to defend herself or deny my allegations.”
Bradshaw turns to Isabella, his glare so cold, it could’ve frozen her on the spot. “She’s lying, right?” She doesn’t say anything in response and he bangs his fist on the table in front of him, making her jump. “RIGHT?!”
“Bradshaw, I’m sorry. They’re still yours in–”
“I don’t want to hear another word from you!” It’s one thing to cheat. Bradshaw doesn’t care about that. But his wife’s recklessness could crumble the monarchy.
“She could’ve gotten away with it, because those children are a spitting image of their mother, it’s almost scary. No one would bat an eyelash or ask questions.” Kendall thinks back to the spy mission Olivia completed last week, a trip to the hospital the twins were born at. This information came about after she knocked out a few guards and scoured the family’s medical records records. “But it’s simple biology. A woman with type A blood, and a man with type AB blood cannot produce two children with type O. Now, as for the true, biological father, that is something I don’t know, but Isabella is currently sleeping with her personal bodyguard so it may be him.”
Liam waits on bated breath as he watches the exchange. Bradshaw’s face is beet red, and Liam is on guard, defensive just in case the other king decides to do something stupid.
“So you see, Eleanor isn’t going to be marrying your son, ever. Or your daughter.”
Bradshaw dismisses Kendall’s words with a hand wave. He’s not letting go so easily. “I signed their birth certificate, I am their father. Your husband signed a treaty, whether you like it or not. And the fact that you just admitted to breaking countless laws with your little espionage scheme is grounds enough to get you into a lot of trouble.”
“Prove it,” Kendall challenges. “Prove that I had someone access those records, and that I’ve been collecting intel. I’m already done so you didn’t catch me red handed, and there’s no proof of my admission. The two of you were thoroughly searched and stripped of any cell phones, recorders, and cameras. Our guards have 24/7 security footage in this office, so on the off chance you were able to get in here with any of the aforementioned items, you would’ve been caught planting them before this meeting began. And besides, you push this issue any further, I will demand a paternity test on the world stage, and then all eyes will be on us. You’d rather die than publicly admit your wife cheated on you and someone else fathered those children.”
“I’ll have children with Bradshaw, easily,” Isabella says quickly. “Problem solved.”
Kendall grimaces sarcastically. “You specifically named Isaac and Lyra in the treaty. Had you not done that, your plan could’ve worked. Nice try though, and kudos for the quick thinking.”
Bradshaw glares at Kendall and then stands. Clenching his fist, he tries to breathe, to calm down. “You insolent, little girl. You think because you’ve read a few history books that you’re so smart and you can play politics? You think you can blackmail or extort me?” He scoffs before turning to Liam. “I know she gets your dick wet every once in a while, but you’re letting your commoner wife dictate you and shape international diplomacy?”
Liam’s nostrils flare but before he can reach across the table to attack Bradshaw, Kendall’s places a comforting hand on his shoulder, signaling for him to remain seated. There’s no need for violence when they clearly have the upper hand.
“I don’t think I’m smart. My bachelors degree from Brown in Policy Analysis and my Master’s from Columbia speak volumes all by themselves. There’s no need for vulgarity and petty insults because you aren’t intelligent or mature enough to comport yourself professionally.”
“I figured you wouldn’t back down after the whole paternity fiasco, and that’s fine.” Kendall shrugs with nonchalance. “We can involve the United Nations and the International Law Commission, and have them review that treaty if that’s what you want. But when I get in front of an audience and turn on the waterworks, crying about how my unborn daughter and I nearly died in the middle of a hostage situation, and instead of helping though you had the means to do so, you strong-armed my husband into signing a sham treaty, I don’t think that’ll go over too well for you.”
“It’s politics,” Bradshaw snarls. “You got bested.”
“No, it was a shitty coercion attempt. And a direct violation of Article 51 of the Vienna Convention Treaty, something your ancestors signed.”
“You don’t want to go down this road with me, with Auvernal,” Bradshaw continues, his eyes getting black as coal. “We want to be adults about this alliance, but please don’t force my hand. We can either be a powerful ally or a dangerous enemy.”
“You’ve been not-so-subtly hinting at war or a hostile occupation of Cordonia for over a year, and we’re not afraid of it. Like I’ve told my husband, I am not afraid of war. In this case, I’d welcome it gladly..”
“Ooh, such big fighting words.”
“Bradshaw, stop it!” Isabella hisses. He was always one for threats and brute force, when it wasn’t necessary.
“Shut up, you traitorous whore.” Bradshaw keeps his eyes on Kendall. He raises an eyebrow in challenge. “Well, the choice is yours. Excuse me, the choice belongs to the monarch. I keep forgetting who is who, considering your husband lets you wear the pants in this relationship.”
Liam sighs. Bradshaw wants to get a rise out of him for some reason, and it’s almost amusing.
He gets out of his seat and starts walking around the office. His movements are poised and he glides across the room, until he’s standing where Bradshaw is. “Unlike you, Bradshaw, I actually respect my wife. She’s strong and intelligent, and she has my full support in whatever we do. Your attempts to belittle her for being my queen consort are weak and baseless. And because she doesn’t want me to react, I won’t.”
“Of course not.” Bradshaw smirks. “Oh, King Liam the Gentle Hearted. You’ve always been the weakling, the coward. Too afraid to actually do something, opting to always play it safe. Tell me, how’s that working out for you? For your people? All the bombings and assassination attempts? How’d that work out for your precious daddy, Constan–”
Bradshaw can’t finish the question because in a flash, Liam pulls a dagger out of his suit pocket and trains it at Bradshaw’s throat, the tip of the blade just barely touching his Adam’s apple.
“Ohmygod!” The words fly out of Isabella’s mouth so fast, she stumbles over them. Liam motions for her to stay calm and seated.
“What was that?” Liam asks. “Please continue to speak on my late father, I dare you. Go on, I want to hear what you were about to say about him.” Bradshaw stays silent, his eyes trained on the dagger. “Eyes on me, Bradshaw.” Liam hits Bradshaw under the chin, forcing the other man to look him in the eye.
“I am so sick and tired of people mistaking my kindness for weakness. I try to be a good leader. Thoughtful and compassionate. I just don’t want my people to fear me, to cower in my presence. It’s so easy to rule like you do, through fear and intimidation. That’s the true cowardice. And yes, I am a kind man, but don’t ever in your poor excuse for a life attempt to write me off as weak or cowardice. The Queen was correct, you do not scare us in the slightest. You’re nothing more than a little man with a Napoleon complex and a need to overcompensate for your own shortcomings, with a wife who honestly couldn't care less if you live or die. Your country is broke and falling apart at the seams because all of your resources go to an oversized military and flashy attractions, so you bulldoze your way into other territories to offset the damage, but hear me well when I say Cordonia will not be one of them.”
Kendall’s breath hitches in her throat at the unexpected action. Liam pulling a dagger - no doubt a gift from Olivia - on Bradshaw wasn’t part of their plan. But she wants to see where this goes, what his next move is. She’s known Liam to get upset before, but this is something new, this tense, tight-lidded rage. Where Bradshaw is one to puff out his chest, yell, and make threats in order to cause confusion and chaos, Liam moves like a ninja, swift, direct, and lethal.
“You want a war? We can go, in an instant. This country may be small and peaceful, but we descend from strong leaders and brave warriors. And be advised, that I’ve been through a lot this past year, and I have a lot of rage inside of me. Keep poking the bear, Bradshaw, and I will not stop until I personally kill you with my bare hands. I will not rest until I witness the life leave your eyes, and your country is nothing more than ashes and rubble. Just say the word, and it’ll be a done deal.”
“Don’t forget, darling,” Kendall stands to join her husband, but she keeps a watchful eye on Isabella. But the woman is practically frozen in fear, not an imminent threat in the slightest, “that if we go to war, it won’t be just Cordonia and Auvernal. It’ll be Auvernal and the small countries that they’ve seized against Cordonia and her allies. Greece, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, Australia, and my home country, the United States.”
“Oh right! Silly me, how could I forget? Thanks for the reminder, my love. So Bradshaw, Isabella, how about we forget the whole alliance and treaty fiasco, right here, right now. Or we can go to war.” Liam shrugs and presses the blade deeper, still careful not to break the skin. “Or how about I end this right now, slit your throat, and let you die a slow death, bleeding from your jugular and choking on your own blood. I don’t want to do that, because it’ll stain my very expensive floors, but I will. The choice is yours.”
“We withdraw!” Isabella exclaims, finally standing. “We’ll forget the whole thing, we’ll call it all off! Just put the weapon down, please!”
“Isabella, didn’t I tell you to be quiet?”
Liam tsks. “Listen to your wife, Bradshaw.”
“Bradshaw, are you truly prepared to die here?” Isabella asks. “Is all of this worth it? Put your foolish pride aside for once in your damn life! It’s over.”
Bradshaw looks Liam in the eye, knowing that the other king isn’t bluffing. Slowly, he raises his hands in the air. “We concede.”
“Good. That wasn’t so hard was it?” Liam lowers his dagger and Bradshaw releases a sigh of relief. “But just one more thing.”
“What?”
Liam extends his arm, the dagger slashing out and quickly plunging into Bradshaw’s side. Shouting in pain, Bradshaw falls to his knees. “I may not kill you for your disrespect towards my wife, holding her life over my head, and threatening war against me, but I can’t let you leave unscathed. But fear not, it’s a minor wound and I didn’t hit any arteries, because unlike you, I’m a skilled fighter and I know what I’m doing.”
Isabella jumps out of her seat, and rushes to Bradshaw's side, pressing into the wound to stop the bleeding.
Kendall takes in the scene. She didn’t feel an ounce of sympathy for the pathetic man-child writhing in pain on the floor, or his wife for that matter. Had Liam killed him where he stood, she probably would have have batted a mascara-covered eyelash. “Bastien!”
At the urgent calling of his name, the King’s guard enters the office. His eyes immediately fall onto Liam and Kendall, before taking in Bradshaw and Isabella. “Is everything alright in here, Your Majesties?”
“Excellent!” Kendall exclaims. “We’re actually done here, so if you could see to it that Bradshaw gets that nasty wound patched up and send the happy couple on their way, that’d be great.”
Bastien nods. “Of course.”
“Thank you. Bradshaw, Isabella, it was a pleasure having this meeting with you, and our attorneys will be in contact soon.” Kendall reaches for Liam’s hand. “Ready to go?”
“Ready.”
~v~
Liam’s feet dig into the soft carpeted floor of his bedroom as he walks into the en-suite. His eyes immediately land on his wife, who’s in their marble tub, covered in bubbles, sipping out of a bottle of Dom Perignon.
“Slow down, Speed Racer,” he teases.
“Eleanor doesn’t need to get fed for a few more hours, and I think I deserve this champagne.”
“I couldn’t agree more. I just don’t want you to get a headache.”
“I’ll drink a few glasses of water before I go to sleep.” Kendall holds the bottle out to Liam, offering him some, but he declines. So she just sits it on the floor. “Is Nori asleep?”
“She is. I swear, she’s the most alert and stubborn newborn on earth. She did not go down easily.”
“You’re already being bested by our daughter?”
“I know you two have been conspiring against me while she was still in the womb.” Liam smiles softly. “But I am still the champion, she eventually settled.”
“Good.”
“Enjoying your bath?”
“Yes. Can I sleep in here tonight?”
Liam chuckles. “Your skin will get incredibly dry and wrinkly.”
“I’m sure that’s nothing a few spa treatments and some heavy duty shea butter can’t fix.”
“How are you feeling?”
“Exhausted,” Kendall answers with a dramatic sigh. The day was long and she’s been running on pure adrenaline, it’s easy to forget she did push out a human just two short weeks ago, under very extreme circumstances. “And sore. I never want to wear heels again.”
Liam crouches down, getting on his knees at the edge of the tub. Reaching in he grabs one of Kendall’s feet and pulls it out of the water. Carefully he presses his thumb into the arch.
“Mhmm. I always forget that you moonlight as a masseuse.”
“Only for you.”
“It better be,” Kendall shoots back with a smirk.
“After the day we’ve had, I say you’ve more than earned a foot massage.”
“Ugh.” Kendall slips further into the tub before resurfacing. “I cannot stand those smug, overbearing assholes. Thank God we’re done with them.”
“Do you really think we’ve seen the last of them?”
“You probably pissed Bradshaw off when you stabbed him,” Kendall says pointedly, the mischievous look on her face betraying the seriousness in her tone. “But I do. They’re underhanded and sneaky, the threat of us exposing them publicly and involving superpower countries is enough to stave them off. But like we both said, war is on the table if push comes to shove.”
“Can I just say that you were absolutely amazing today.” Liam can’t get rid of the goofy grin on his face if he tries. He’s in awe of his wife, of her wit and strength.
Liam switches feet and she sighs in content. “Yes, please sing my praises.”
“I cannot believe how courageous you were, how absolutely brilliant. I’ve never seen anyone able to stand up to Bradshaw the way you did.”
“The same could be said for you. You were ready to kill him then and there. By the way, I was not anticipating that at all, but you had them scared shitless.
“The only reason I was able to do that is because I knew I had you in my corner the entire time.”
“I’ll always be in your corner, Liam.”
“I know, and I need to trust that. But all praise aside, I should have never put you in this position to begin with you. You should be spending this time relaxing and being with our baby, not getting involved in dirty politics.”
“Stop it!” Kendall wrangles her foot out of Liam’s grasps, and hits him in the chest with it. Liam looks down at the sudsy print on his chest incredulously.
“Did you really just hit me with your foot?”
“Yes!” He’s going down that slippery slope of insecurity and self loathing. “I’m the Queen, I know my job will never be done. This past week has been stressful, yes, but it has not taken away from my maternity leave or my time with Eleanor. I can multitask, you know.”
“I know, I just wish you didn’t have to be burdened with the weight of the crown at a time like this.”
“Stop apologizing,” Kendall orders. “I’ve forgiven you and it’s all in the past now. I don’t want to hear another word about it.”
The corner of Liam’s mouth quirks up, a hint of a smirk on his face. He loves his wife’s commanding side. He leans over the tub so he’s hovering above her. “As you command, my queen.”
“The Queen also commands a kiss.”
“That can be arranged.” Liam surges forward, one hand reaching out to cup his wife’s cheek, the other getting tangled in her now damp hair and captures her lips in a kiss.
Kendall hums in satisfaction and sits up to deepen the kiss. Water sloshes out the side of the tub, soaking Liam’s pajama bottoms, but neither of them care. Her hands travel to his back, pulling him closer.
Too soon for either of their liking, Liam breaks the kiss with a groan. “4 more weeks. That is a depressingly long time from now.”
“Do you have the willpower?”
“I don’t know, but let’s not test it and disobey doctor’s orders.” Liam kisses the tip of her nose. “As soon as you’re cleared, I’m taking you to Valtoria, and we’re going to spend a few days in the small cottage you had built on the property. And I’m not letting you come up for air.”
A chill runs down the length of her spine. “Mhmm, don’t threaten me with a good time, Rys.”
“Oh, it’s not a threat, it’s a promise.” Liam reaches back into the tub and pulls the drain. He grabs a large towel and unfolds it. “Now come on, let’s get you to bed.”
Liam helps his wife out of the tub and drapes the towel across her shoulders. She shivers dramatically, her teeth clicking together for added effect. He knows she’s putting on a show, but he curls her into his side, which is what she wanted.
After changing into the closest pair of pajamas she can find—really just a pair of Liam’s sweats and an old Knicks t-shirt—and peaking into the bassinet at their bedside, Kendall finally collapses onto their bed. Liam joins her, loosely slinging his arm around her midsection. The smell of whatever fruity bubble bath she was just using invades his senses, but he welcomes the scent, his eyes closing instinctively. Kendall smells like home to him.
Kendall turns around in order to look at her husband’s face. For the first time in a long time, he looks peaceful. The outcome of the day instantly took 5 years off of his appearance, and she’s glad. She hates that he carries so much stress with him at all times.
“Hey Liam,” she whispers, poking his arm.
“What is it?” He asks, not even bothering to open his eyes.
“I love you.”
That gets a smile out of him. His grip on her tightens slightly. “I love you more.”
“I love you infinity.”
“I love you infinity plus another infinity, for good measure,” Liam shoots back.
“One of these days, I’m going to win.”
“But not today. Now get some sleep.”
Kendall gets closer to Liam, until she’s practically on top of him. His heartbeat is slow and steady underneath her head, and the rhythmic thump slowly pulls her into unconsciousness.
Today was a victory. Sure the kingdom of Cordonia had other things to face, but Kendall takes comfort in knowing that she’ll face them with Liam, as a team. The two of them together are unstoppable.
Today was officially the start of their happily ever after.

I have this head cannon that after Jenna's shooting, when Kathi sees Elliot in the aftermath of him dealing with the trauma of the situation, she asks Elliot to leave SVU, and his immediate/stream of consciousness response is "I can't leave Olivia." A very simple, raw, real response that neither of them are ready to hear in that moment. And that this coined a moment of truth in their relationship, that prompts her to give him an ultimatum, compare him to his father, etc. and ultimately choose between his family, esp. his kids, and Olivia. And we know that with Elliot's morality/personal code of ethics, he will always put his family and his responsibility to them first - it's just who he is. Throw in some pressure from IAB that if he stays, Olivia goes down with him, and voila - Elliot leaves for 10 years. And he can't say goodbye or have a single conversation with Liv to explain, because if he did, if he saw how much him leaving would destroy her, he'd never be able to do it, even if it went against everything he built his personal code of morals on. 😭 I had this thought way before the letter scene, but after that aired, this fits so much more clearly. I'm in pain.
oooof ok that's the thing right is that a lot of us talk about elliot leaving as also being elliot choosing his family but that's not explicit, right? we don't ever see it framed that way in canon it just gives him extra motivation for doing what he does. and I love this thought. Kathy seeing him so worn down, torn apart by the job, begging him to leave before it kills him, and that one moment of raw honesty. that one moment where she sees the truth that maybe she's been trying not to see for so long now. that it's not the job, it's liv. and then he really does have to choose. and he thinks he's done the right thing but he'll never know for sure, will he?

So, Taron got the award, he did the post-show press, he probably partied it up, what’s next? OSCAR RACE! Yeah, so Taron’s place in the Oscar race has shifted a lot. I’ve covered this on here before, but I’ll give a short recap. After the standing ovation at Cannes, Taron got some real Oscar buzz. Of course, this was in May (so, at that time we were a lot closer to the previous Oscars than the next one). Thus, over the summer, some commentators felt that Taron was bound to lose momentum by February. By mid-summer, the best actor race exploded. Like, this is probably one of the most competitive best actor race in recent years. When it became apparent that the race consisted of heavy hitters like Robert Dinero, Leonardo Dicaprio, Joaquin Phoenix, Adam Driver, Christian Bale, Matt Damon, Jonathan Pryce, and Eddie Murphy, it was unclear if Taron could break through. A lot of the analyses I read had Taron finding himself outside of the final five (usually at number 7). This was not so much on account of his performance but on timing. Rocketman came out long before the start of Oscar season, and a lot of commentators believed that it’d be overlooked/forgotten by the fall.
However, Paramount is smart. They started an insane awards campaign which had Taron and Dexter doing interview after interview, Q&A after Q&A, talk show appearances, and shaking hands with just about everyone in Hollywood. He campaigned both in the US and the UK, so they covered all their bases. It really was an impressive awards campaign. Lately, commentators have been remarking on this campaign and seem to think it’s impressive and helpful. This campaign did its job; it got Taron back into awards conversations where he was slipping. This has been particularly helpful in his Golden Globes bid. I’ll get into this more later, but as the Globes got closer, it was harder and harder for commentators to discount Taron as an unlikely win as he was, in their view, campaigning so hard.
That brings us to now: awards season. Taron kicked off awards season with some big wins from some smaller organizations (GQ, Attitude, etc.) which was a good sign. It meant his work was not going to go unrewarded. He then got the Hollywood Film Award which is a huge deal. The Hollywood Film Award is not only a prestigious award, but it is also very much in the realm of the Golden Globes, SAG, etc.
Then, the nominations for the big awards came out. He missed the Critics Choice (which is frustrating because there were seven spots), but got the Golden Globe nomination as well as the SAG. I’ll break down why these are both important and for different reasons. I heard early on that Taron was a lock for a Golden Globe nomination, so I wasn’t too worried about it. Despite the super contentious best actor race, most of the competition was in the best drama category, and that left best comedy open. That meant that he could easily get into a top five in that category, and voila he did. While it wasn’t the hardest nomination to score, it was still a huge deal. Taron had never been nominated for a Globe before. Prior to this awards season, he only had one major award nomination and that was from BAFTA. Now, he had a second nomination from a major award association. The SAG, while it may not seem as glossy (as no one really watches the SAGs) is actually hugely important. Members of the Academy are also members of SAG, so from what I understand it is the same voting block (at least for the nomination). So, if Taron was already able to win over that same voting block he needs to get a nomination, then well, he probably will get a nomination.
Prior to the Globes, though, his nomination was not a secure. But that is true of almost everyone except Joaquin and Adam Driver. The Globes would determine who makes it through, and with that win, well, it seems like he has a pretty clear path to an Oscar nomination. Right now, the last Academy voters are turning in their ballots (they have about two more days to do so), and I reckon that Taron, considering he’s now a serious contender, will be on a lot of ballots. Even though the timing of where Oscar voting ends and when the Golden Globes happened are a little off, Taron likely built up enough momentum that he probably already got a lot of votes, and these final two days will give him the push he needs. Now, if he does get the nomination (which likely will at this point), what are his chances of winning? Frankly, he has very stiff competition, and it’s unclear if he’d actually make it to Oscar gold. There are a few things to keep in mind. One, he just beat Leonardo Dicaprio. A commentator on Gold Derby said that this, in a sense, puts Taron ahead of Dicaprio. Two, one commentator said this could put him at a number 3 spot (in terms of the likelihood that he’ll win), and guess who was at number three for the Golden Globes. Friggin Taron. And guess who crossed the finish line. Taron. So, while he’s A) not guaranteed to get a number 3 spot and B) being number three doesn’t guarantee you anything, it does give him a real fighting chance.
All of this begs the question, if Taron is, potentially, at number 3 (and a win really could put him there), who’s number 1 and 2? It’s exactly who think it is: Adam Driver and Joaquin Phoenix. Now, I’ve been of the mind all awards season that this is Adam Driver’s year. He’s put in the time. He got a nomination last year for a performance in a great film (in which he was surely not the stand-out performance). This year, he’s a high profile drama which could win best picture, and he’s the stand-out performance in it. All of that spells out OSCAR GOLD. However, he lacks a narrative. The Oscars love a narrative. For instance, last year’s surprise best actress winner Olivia Coleman also had a narrative. Her narrative was that she was a British actress swimming in British awards and accolades but was new to Hollywood and was just so damn happy to be there. She was the new girl, but a new girl with clout, prestige, experience, and poise. Lupita Nyong’o had a similar but more conventional narrative: she was the breakout star. 12 Years A Slave was her first feature length picture, and she was literally brand-new. She ultimately won multiple awards including the SAG and the Oscar. This is not to suggest that these two actresses won purely based on their narrative and that their incredible performances were not a factor. A narrative can simply give a nominee a boost or even just make their win seem all the more special. So, what’s the point of all of this? It’s basically that Adam Driver doesn’t have a narrative. One can win without a narrative (see Alicia Vikander or Eddie Redmayne). However, in an awards season that is so packed with incredible performances, it helps to have something to stand out, and Adam Driver, as talented as he is, doesn’t really have much to go on. Then, there’s Joaquin. He’s not a friend to the Academy voter or the construct of awards in general, and he’s certainly not a friend to the press. None of that will help him to cross the finish line come Oscar night. So, if Taron only has to beat those two, well, frankly, there is a small possibility that he has the momentum he needs to take him all the way. Despite a lot of love and adoration for Olivia Coleman’s performance, she was not last year’s favorite. Glenn Close seemed like a lock. And then, Olivia Coleman swept in with the win. What gained her that momentum was her campaign. It wasn’t so much that she shook hands with everyone but that she was a genuine personality who was good-humored, good-natured, beloved her peers, and just charming as hell. Who does that sound like? One also has to consider that the best actor/actress in a comedy or musical has, in recent years, been either the number one or the number two. Soarsie Ronan was the clear number 2 in 2018 (and had a serious chance of winning). Olivia Coleman was last year’s number 1. It’s possible that a similar situation could happen again. Right now, nothing is certain. He doesn’t even have the nomination yet, and it is the toughest race in recent years. But no one should completely rule him out just yet.

The Brothers Beaumont
Liam x MC, Maxwell Beaumont, Bertrand Beaumont, Drake Walker, Hana Lee, Olivia Nevrakis, Madeleine and OC.
Pixleberry owns all characters except OC.
Riley and Liam sat with their friends at a posh boutique in downtown Capitol City. Madeline had summoned them there to partake in wedding planning and preparations. With one month to go until the most anticipated wedding Cordonia had ever hosted, time was of the essence.
Madeline had put together a rather large binder, that she handed to the bride, the groom and the Ladies of the Court. She explained step by step, down to the nano second, what each was expected to do, where to be, whom to speak to, when to eat, use the restroom and maybe, breathe.
"You can give me a binder, but, youre delusional if you think I work on your time!" Olivia stated matter of factly, as she tossed the binder to the empty seat beside her. Madeline slowly picked the binder up, letting out a breathy sigh and held it to Olivia, raising both eye brows.
"Olivia, Madeline has worked very hard on preparations, let's do our best to be civil" Liam stated as he gave a desperate glare in her direction, with her ultimately yanking the binder from Madeline's held out hand. "That's what I thought", Madeline remarked with a gleeful grin before turning on her heels to sit before Liam and Riley.
Hana seeing the fury in Olivia's eyes over this, quickly, but, gently grabbed Olivia's arm as she reached for a stilletto, held in place to her thigh, under her skirt. " No, no" Hana exclaimed softly, before Olivia pulled her skirt back down with a small huff.
All the major decisions were made, Hana would be Maid of Honor, Drake the best man, Regina would preside over the ceremony and the ladies of the court were to lead the procession.
"Riley, the last thing is, who will walk you down the aisle?" Madeline asked. Riley's heart skipped a beat. She knew that question would come up at some point in her life, however, the escalating emotions that hit her like a tsunami, caused her breath to hitch slightly. She closed her eyes and clearly recalled a memory of her deceased father, dancing with her at a family friends wedding when she was 9....
...."Riles, your mother has been showing me up on the dance floor all night, come help your old dad out". Riley grimmaced and quickly scrunched up her nose, "this music is old, it doesnt even have words to it!". Michael couldnt help but chuckle at his very outspoken daughter. "Riley, music with no words are sung through your movements while you dance....besides, one day I'll walk you down the aisle and share a dance during your reception, I need to see what Im working with" he grinned with wink. Riley gave him a sideways glance and remarked "I'll dance with you, but, we will be dancing to N'Sync when I get married". "If you say so sweetheart". Michael took his daughters hand and guided her to the dance floor. "Okay Riley, put this hand on my shoulder and hold your other one in my hand like this......... perfect!".
Michael lead her through the box step, then the progressive steps, ending with the promenade. After several tries and do overs, Riley felt a little more confident and somewhat carefree. She looked up at her father, a gleam in her eyes, as she finally went a full set without a mistake. "I did it all the way through daddy!" "Yes you did, and you did it without words to the song". She smiled at her father and asked, "So do you think we're good enough to dance at my wedding someday? Michael leaned over and hugged his daughter replying, "oh you're definately ready, your quick step is a little... slow...but, we'll practice a lot before the big day to make it perfect."
Riley opened her eyes suddenly when she felt Liam's hand on her back. "Are you okay love" he asked with concern and empathy. Liam, having recently lost his own father, felt the sadness she was experiencing; his father was supposed to perform their wedding ceremony.
Before she could answer him, Bartie let out a soft moan that caught her attention. She looked across the room where Bertrand sat in a cushy chair, cradling his sleepy son in his arms. Maxwell, sitting on the arm of the chair, leaned over to rub Bartie's leg. Bertrand began to caress Bartie's scalp, in an attempt to ease the baby back into his peaceful slumber. Bertrand has two looks, the stern, serious look he had for most people, and, the kind, gentle look he reserved only for his son and his son's mother. In that moment, Riley was witnessing the latter.
She stood from the couch where she had been seated and turned toward the two men who were her brothers in every sense of the word. She walked over to them both and kneeled down with an adoring smile.
"Bertrand" she says softly as she places her hand on his forearm, "no one can drive me crazier than you, but, you've always pushed me to do better, to go above and beyond that which I didn't always think I was capable of, and to find meaning behind those things I thought were....well..a little mundane." Bertrand attempted a scowl as he recalled Riley's all day cutlery placement training, in which, she seemed completely uninterested in and at one point threatened to stab him with a cocktail fork.
Bertrand softened his face and spoke, "Lady Riley, I didnt always believe in you and I'll forever regret that. With that said, once I really opened my eyes to see you for the strong, capable woman you are, I have been nothing short of proud. You are more than an honorary Beaumont....You are a Beaumont."
Riley bit her top lip and closed her eyes; those word went straight to her heart. When she opened her glossy eyes, she looked up at Bertrand with a slight sob, "My brother, would you walk me down the aisle." Bertrand looked away from her for a moment, taking a hard swallow, before turning back to meet her adoring stare. He inhaled in a shaky breath, "It would be my greatest honor." Riley smiled at him, "thank you Bertrand."
Riley stood up from her kneeling position and moved in front of Maxwell. Maxwell had a hand over his eyes and looking the opposite direction. "Maxwell?" Riley asked inquisitively. He didn't acknowledge her. "Maxwell? she would ask again. "Too many feels Riley....just too many feels" he would say through his silent sniffles. "Hey, look at me please, I want to ask you to do something also." Maxwell continued to look the other way.
"Maxwell, I'm due for a sparring session with Mara in 20 minutes, if you make me late, I'd like to warn you I have two stillettos and a dagger on me, that I'm prepared to use" Olivia shouted as she stood up giving her signature raised eyebrow and crossed arms. Maxwell quickly sat up, almost at attention, "Okay, Okay, can't a man get emotional"? "Of course you can Maxwell" Riley exclaimed with a sympthetic tone, patting his back. As quick as his mood was somber, it suddenly changed to cheerful. "You wanted to ask me something, hit me with it!"
Riley grabbed both of Maxwell's hands and shared, "Maxwell, my father once told me he would practice dancing with me, so that when we danced our Father-Daughter dance at my wedding, it would be perfect." Maxwell looked down at the floor, he knew what she was about to ask him and he didn't know how he felt about it, was he worthy of such?. "Maxwell, you have practiced with me since I first arrived in Cordonia. You have been my mentor, my biggest cheerleader, and the reason I'm here in the first place. I want you to dance that perfect dance with me in place of my father." Maxwell began to get emotional again, but, caught the death stare from Olivia. "In order to prevent the shedding of my blood, I will quickly say,....AGENT BREAKDANCE WILL BE AT YOUR SERVICE!". Maxwell pulled Riley into a bear hug and quickly swayed her side to side.
"If you're done with me, I could use a drink" Drake remarked as he sat up from his chair, headed for the door. "Yes, we are finished, but, don't forget your binder", Madeline exclaimed as she pointed out the thick binder Drake had secretly slid under his chair. Drake hung his head and slowly turned around, "yeah, wouldn't want to forget that" as he reached far under the chair to retrieve it.
Gladys walked over to Riley, with Liam joining immediately after. She told them they would need to go upstairs to try cake samples and choose their cake style. "Go ahead love, I'll be up in a minute" he said as he kissed her cheek. "Liam, is everything okay?" Riley asked with concern. "Of course, I just need to do something that is long over due. I promise its nothing to be worried about." "Okay, but, you better hurry or I'm liable to eat your samples too" Riley playfully stated before giving him a quick kiss and walking out.
Liam walked over to Bertand and Maxwell who were trying to figure out how to open Bartie's stroller. "This blasted, useless, piece of sh....OH....your majesty" Bertrand stood with a embarrassed grin. "Bertrand! I got it, Just twist this thing off here and break this piece off, then rip this cloth thingy off and voila!" Maxwell said proudly as the side of the stroller now lay hanging open with broken and tattered parts. Bertrand stared at Maxwell, then the stroller, then back to Maxwell. "Yeah, I think its broken", Maxwell remarked coyly.
Liam observed the pair and in the back of his mind was wondering how his fiancee made it through each social event successfully. He cleared his throat and this drew their attention back to the King. "Oh, our apologies your majesty, Maxwell...stop kicking the stroller! What can we do for you?", Bertrand asked through a stressed smile. "Bertrand, please, no formalities." Liam replied. "Very well, did you need us for something Liam?" Bertrand asked curiously.
Liam held out his hand. Bertrand stared at it for a moment before relunctantly grabbing it with his. Liam shook Bertrand's hand, then offered the same to Maxwell, who after dropping the dislodged wheel of the stroller, obliged. "Whats up Li?" Maxwell asked.
"Maxwell, Bertrand, I've never truly thanked you for what you've done for me", Liam stated with a tone of gratitude. Both brothers stared at him for a moment with Bertrand speaking up, "there is nothing to thank us for Liam".
"That's not entirely true Bertrand" Liam replied while putting his hands in his pockets. Liam glanced over at the window as a ray of sunshine lit up the room. "You handed me my dreams and made it possible to live the life I always wanted, for that, I thank you." Maxwell grasped the King's shoulder with a proud smile, "You deserve it Li."
"No, no I don't.....Maxwell, we've always been friends, but, how often did we spend time together before that New York bachelor party? And Bertrand, we really haven't spoken since we were kids." Bertrand and Maxwell look at one another with solemn expressions. "Today, my fiancee made me realize just how important you both are to her and what you did to get her to where she is today. I understand that part of it was to restore the Beaumont name, but, you were asked to walk her down the aisle and you were asked to fill her father's shoes for a wedding dance....thats...thats". "What a family does", replied Maxwell. "Indeed", Bertrand murmured as Bartie started to wake from the travel playpen he was in. "You're going to be part of our family now Li, so, we will definately be spending a lot more time together, just the three of us", Maxwell was happy to point out.
Bertrand picked Bartie up and Maxwell stepped over to disassemble the playpen. "You're doing it wrong Maxwell! Push the button on the side", Bertrand quipped. "I'am Bertrand, but, this button is in the way" Maxwell snipped as he ripped a plastic piece off the playpen. As Maxwell reached across the other side, the playpen gave way and collpsed, with Maxwell yelling he could fix it. Liam stared blankly at the two brothers as they continued their banter back and forth. He slowly eased his way out of the room, closing the door to the sounds of crashes, yelling and Bartie continuously repeating the curse word he just heard from Bertrand.
Liam leaned against the wall adjacent to the door, running his fingers through his hair and sighing, "what am I marrying into?"
