Last night (Dec 25th) was the first night of Hanukkah!! And of course I had to celebrate the wonderful holiday with my spider powered Gregory, Webs~ He came home just in time to light the first candle on his menorah.

I hope all who are celebrating have a wonderful next few nights along with any festivities that are happening~

Jewish culture is going to your grandparents' house for Chanukah and all the kids love fire so they each get their own menorah and everyone saying the prayers a little bit wrong and out of sync and then you put all the menorahs together on a cookie sheet in the kitchen and the combined heat of like 10 menorahs makes basically a bonfire and everyone's a little bit worried that the Hanukkah bonfire will burn down the house

it's so bitter sweet that hanukkah is my favorite holiday cause on one hand i wanna drown my apartment in menorahs and blue lights and little plush dreidels and doves and oil jugs and wear all those cheesy "tis the season to remind you im jewish" sweaters and silly star of david headbands and make little snack trays for my coworkers BUT i also wanna explain that, no this isn't an 'important' holiday it's just my favorite so im letting capitalism get to me for the next two months

honestly i’ve loved this Hanukkah— i love logging onto tumblr and seeing all the posts made by chosen jews and seeing how happy they are to be apart of us

it’s kinda hard for me to put into words but chosen jews are so so cool to me and in a way i find them lucky — you get to experience and explore Judaism and what it means to love & know G-d though the lens of it being something completely and utterly new , i can’t imagine what that feels like but i think that’s a beautiful thing .

i love your menorahs— kosher or not , i love how even when you stumble over prayers but you still try your best , i love your new and fresh perspectives on jewish topics , i love the jewish recipes you’ve been trying or saving recipes online for , i love how you attend synagogue in person , digital or opting to self study .
