favorite thing about them — UM. EVERYTHING!!! of all the kids in naruto he is my ABSOLUTE favorite. he is tied for my second favorite character. he is so cute and he tries so hard and he is sooo full of love and earnest dedication and also visually he is just? perfect? his eyes and his lower eyelashes and his determined little mouth and his bowlcut. god i literally love him sooo much. favorite boy. precious son.

least favorite thing about them — absolutely nothing. he is perfect to me in every way. i have no notes. well okay. i do think the drunk rock lee thing is kind of a cheap gag and i don't love it, but even that is like...fine. i guess.

favorite line

this isn't like!!!! a proper line!!!! but i LOVE his little excited, disbelieving laugh when Gai said he could take off his weights!!! it means the world to me. he means the world to me. he is my son and i love him soooooo much!!!

brOTP —GAI SENSEI!!!! HE HAS ENDLESS LOVE AND RESPECT FOR GAI SENSEI...literally like. i dont know how gai sensei could ever be more of a dad to rock lee than he is already. i'm obsessed with their bond. Gai sensei means the world to rock lee and rocklee means the world to gai sensei. they are so important to each other. oh to think of it. ohhhh my heart! my heart and soul! wahhh!!!!

OTP —i don't really care about this kind of thing! i thought his crush on sakura was fairly cute.

random headcanon — i think he takes friendship very seriously KDGJHSDKGJHSD like i think he treats all of his close friendships with the intensity that people usually reserve for romantic attachments! this is something which confuses Tenten and Neji a lot. Tenten knows who she is and is in many ways confident, I think, but she's also a little bit concerned with trying to act appropriately, and not sure what that means all the time! Lee acting as unrestrained loving as he does to the people that matter to him embarrasses her a lot.

Similarly, Neji would probably react poorly to somebody trying to be friends with him in a socially acceptable, mild way, like if somebody just complimented him on occasion and hung out around him a lot. Lee is something Neji could never prepare for. He is so completely unashamed and genuine in his affection and even his admiration for Neji that sometimes it just straightup short circuits his brain.

but this is just now Rock Lee is!!! he can't love halfway. the affection that he feels for his friends is cranked up to 11 at all times. He is overwhelming but in the most genial way possible.

unpopular opinion — is this unpopular? i see him as transhet. he has put so much effort into emulating gai (who is so unambiguously gay) that its hard for people to get a read on him but the little fella just! loves girls!!! good for him!
