kousei has never recovered from the loss of akari. he knows something no one else does and this burden is heavy. and yet he refuses to forget–to let his wounds be healed by the bandaid that’s neon because of his fear of forgetting the time he spent with akari and the love he felt. it’s so raw and painful because he loved akari so much that he didn’t ever want these memories of hers to be forgotten.
he tells himself that neon is a tool for a new road in the future of the kurama corporation, yet the truth is that neon had a place in his heart, whether he realized it or not. neon was as much as his daughter as akari was and those 11 years were something.
without him realizing it, neon had learned so much more than he had, growing to fight for her desire and to relearn what it means to love.
and it’s a pivotal moment to see, not just neon’s father, but her mother as well, realize that neon was so much to them. she was their daughter first and foremost and an individual they loved deeply, not an item, not a doll, but someone they should have spent those 11 years loving her like a parent should have.
neon has changed them, and for kousei, it becomes his strength to move forward. he strives to learn from neon, grasping at the power, even knowing the dangers, to protect his daughter because neon is his daughter and he doesn’t want to lose her (like he did with akari).
and it’s even more meaningful because kousei knows the dangers of the dgp. he’s watched people fall and perish with a distant look, simply because they weren’t lucky enough, and yet for his daughter, he’ll join the dgp (albeit ace’s) to protect his daughter and fight despite all the odds.

Craaaap I just watched JJK 0 and the feels...
SATOSUGU IS HEAVILY HINTED THERE!!!!
First, how Gojo already knows Suguru's cursed energy without even thinking of it a second 🥺
Yaga should be already aware of Suguru's CE and he still doesn't even know, but Gojo knows and that's what matters.
Then when Suguru assisted the girl with the cursed spirit, her mother's whose surname is Saito, he intentionally changed it to "Sato" for obvious reasons, it reminded him of his dear Satoru, even ordered the mother to be "Sato" instead of Saito. He still remembers him and longs for his boyfriend to come back to him 😭😭
THEIR MEETING AGAIN AFTER TEN YEARS!!!!!! Gojo had to keep the act of course, be serious and cold to his sweetie, because there was his allies watching and he could not waver. But when Suguru left in that overgrown pelican, GOJO WAS SHEDDING A TEAR!!!!! That made cry, sob like crazy. He was remembering in the past, how Suguru would lecture him to not be so arrogant and full of himself, that the Sorcerers were there to protect those who cannot protect themselves. And how he's changed into killing the very weak he sought to protect when he was a young boyo(Again FUCK YOU TOJI FOR THAT. I may love you but FUCK YOU FOREVER!!! YOU CHANGED SUGURU BY KILLING RIKO)
And how they looked into the sunset, thinking about each other. Yes, Gojo's Suguru's one and only sunshine, that headcanon I did about them, is CANON!!!!! My heart 🥺🥺
And then their last scene, with Suguru about to die... God... I was literally bawling my eyes out there, throwing my pillow around my room and screeching like a banshee. When Gojo said he still trusted his Suguru to not kill his students, just to provoke Yuta into taking out Rika and then do that much damage to him.
Then Gojo had to kill his babe... Duty first of course but he was breaking, he must have cried to sleep. No one to hold him other than himself. And his silented words to Suguru before the very end, that's for imagination, but I have a feeling that it was...
"I love you Suguru...."
😭😭😭😭😭
So in other words, I didn't give a goddamn about Yuta, I was just screeching for my Satosugu. It's the most heavy Satosugu movie and I love it. But it made me cry so hard. 😩😩
#jujutsu kaisen#jjk#jujutsu kaisen 0#jjk 0#satosugu#gojo satoru#suguru#that movie wrecked me#Yet I loved it#😭😭😭

NOORIE. I JUST WATCHED EP 3-5 OF LINK CLICK AND I BAWLED MY EYES OUT. I WASN'T EXPECTING THIS MUCH EMOTIONAL DAMAGE WHYYYYY
off topic but like scattered thoughts:
i don't know if you know this but what they're chanting during the game (龙阳之好 — meaning longyang's interest) is basically a phrase that refers to gay relationships. this has to be intentional. right. right. right. anyways if you'd like you can learn more about lord longyang in this brief wikipedia page
cheng xiaoshi's basketball flashback thing with lu guang is peak queer cinema. casually called him his partner and made a profound metaphor on trust on the spot. no one is doing it like him. icon
the captain's (i think his name was hong bin??) accent changes drastically when he's around his family — i don't live in china so i can't pinpoint which region it's from, but just think of it as the chinese equivalent of a country accent. skfjd just thought that was a cute detail
embarrassing but for like the tiniest moment but with the dramatic sunlight and the gentle music i fr thought that implied that hong bin was chen xiao's first love... my stupidity knows no bounds
when cheng xiaoshi is 'in the body' of another person in the past, how much of his emotions are his, and how much of them are the other person's? ...this calls for a character psychoanalysis
okay thank you for listening to my rant. sfjdskfjkfjsj going to scream into my pillow now
KDFJKLDSJF KSDJF
EPSIDOE THREEE THROUGH FIVE ARE SO EMOTIONALLY DEVESTATING, IF NTO THE MOST EMOTIONALLY DEVESTATING EPSIDOES IN ALL OF CINEMA (I'm weak for parents singing lullabies and providing comfort that ends tragically. I never stood a chance.) /pos
OKAY RESPONDING TO YOUR THOUGHTS! (sorry if this seems disjointed I'm going through an 'execuative dysfuntino floaty-float cloud rn... yes feeligns I know how to describe those.)
OHMIGOSH THE GAY CHANT. YES IT HAS TO BE INTENTIONAL. THey just get more queer the more you watch. Their shop literally has their ship name.
The manhua exists.
If this isn't the most queer platonic/gay thing I've ever seen... I don't know what is.
OOOH and I have to tag @celestialsun123 and @mylee-sketches in this just for that point GAY BASKETBALL CHANT WOWOWOO
This ep was also just like... very queer. SO queer. the most queer coded thing I've ever watched in my life (they wanted to convince us we were safe, that this would be a fun little gay time travel show.)
Holy herbs. You know what? The censorship just made them more creative and this is more queer than if it were cannon (just shiguang in general actually... it gets even better as you go on)
ANd the shorts as wellll... also Qiao Ling literally asks Lu Guang 'so what do you like about Cheng XIaoshi?' Like she's honestly the biggest shiguang shipper of us all.
The accent thing IS such a cute detail yess. The way that entire town was written with so much life and little things, each character having depth and intrigue from the get go... only for... episode five.. . and ... *ugly sobbing*
(Especially Chen Xiao's mom. I've honestly rarely seen parents written as well as they are in link click.)
PFT YES YES I ALSO THOUGHT HONG BIN AND CHENG XIAO were supposed to be queer coded in that scene. It's very vibes.
OHMIGOSH THE CHENG XIAOHSHI POSESSION THING CONSUMES SO MUCH OF MY THOUGHTS IT"S SO INTERESTING AS BOTH A NARRATIVE DEVICE AND PART OF HIS CHARACTER. I have a post here:
Theorizing on how Cheng Xiaoshi's emotions work when he's possessing people
with some theories behind it, and lots of notes and anlysis that are... in the works (I'm on my second rewatch of season one but I'm silly and keep rewatching the same scene six times before I watch the next... rinse repeat I've been rewatching for a half a month now.)
LIke the layers and layers and layers in this show are insanneeeee.
Also boba tea:
and... screenshot collection (It's so hard to screenshot shows holy herbs. I wish the manhua adapatation of the first season - where it's all the same as the show - was available online)
(not goign to include any spoilers)
....and I reached my image limit.
THANK YOU FOR TALKING WITH ME ABOUT LINK CLICK AKLDFSJKLDSJFKLDSJFDKLSFJDSLKFJDS.

i'm on the train and bored and still have an hour to go, so TIME TO RANT ✨️
and i'm choosing to make a list of bttf scenes i would have done differently/things i would have added because i like disagreeing with bob gale as if i owned this franchise
this is maybe an unnecessary change, but personally, i would have preferred if there were more instances of marty trying to warn doc about his death in part 1. we see it when doc demonstrates the model and then later twice on november 12 (before he writes the letter and then before marty has to leave), but i feel like it would have been more emotionally impactful if he had tried it more than that and only at the very end given up and written that letter.
SHOW DOC PLAY SAX. LIKE BRO. they could have had a concert 😭 imagine doc crashing the dance and playing sax with marty on stage (take this bullet point with a grain of salt, i'm only half serious. but still seeing doc play sax would have been badass)
the most obvious point of all obvious points, add the goddamn lone pine mall hug. the entire fandom agrees it's canon, and i remember a post going around speculating that they did indeed record a hug and keep the secret footage somewhere at universal lmao. but all jokes aside, this hug was SO necessary. every sane person would be waiting for it when watching the movie. marty is literally on the ground, bawling his eyes out, thinking his friend is gone, and us heartbroken audience members don't even get a hug to soothe our souls. i haven't paid much mind to doc and marty's relationship when i first watched bttf, but even past me was expecting a hug. good thing bobby fixed it in the musical
MORE JENNIFER. don't knock that girl out for 75% of the movie, please. she deserved better, and i wish bttf 2 would have put more emphasis on her as a character and how she's like and stuff. i hate to see it, but she's such a surface character that we barely know anything about (in my opinion), and that's just sad. she could very well have gone to the cafe 80s with marty and kept him grounded and stuff.
honestly, i maybe even would have kept that deleted 1985a scene with dave. we don't get to see marty's siblings at all in that timeline aside from a mention from biff, and it would have been interesting to see.
this is quite a jump in time, but i wish bob gale would have expanded on the scene in bttf 3 in which doc tells marty that he wants to stay behind in 1885 because of clara. this might be my fanfic brain speaking, but i see so much conflict potential. it would have been wild to see doc and marty argue, maybe even fight for the first time in the trilogy, and picture the emotional turmoil both of them were going through. if i had been marty, i would have snapped, not gonna lie. like, yeah, i get that doc found the love of his life but after all the lectures he'd given marty and after all those times marty was willing to rip apart the fabric of time just to keep doc alive, that man just goes "sorry marty, i met a woman i fell in love with, thanks for saving my life so i can live it out HERE. you go back home and idk clean my lab" >:(. this will forever be a pet peeve hahahaha
WHY does doc just FLY OFF on that DAMN TRAIN? i have to admit, it is an epic ending and feels sort of celebratory, but how can he say that he had to get his dog BEFORE even MENTIONING marty, giving him a photo, shake his hand as if they were work colleagues and nothing more, and then LEAVE? WHAT??? at least talk to him for a bit longer, tell your best friend where you've been, whether he will see you again and that you cherish him for god's sake. if you already had to give him false hopes by getting on the train only to fly off on the hoverboard later 🙄
#back to the future#bttf#marty mcfly#doc brown#yeah thats it for now#bttf rant#those are all things i will and have fixed in fics before#just you wait#hfjsjfjdjfjsjf im going insane i hate the deutsche bahn#we are 5 minutes late again

as a book reader i ADORE the series but if theres one thing i love more than anything is seeing baby percabeth from an unbiased perspective bc theyre so cute but also percy is so LAME like hes so embarrassing i love him. like in the books hes just like yeah i think she looks like a princess and we only hear his internal thoughts so i LOVEEE actually seeing how awkward he is with his crush on annabeth.
its so cute and i honestly think pretty important for the viewers because it rlly helps to drive how young they all are and how insane it is that theyre being put in these crazy situations. like his dorky face when annabeth smiled when he started singing the consensus song? his voice cracking after annabeth laughed at his potty joke?? the look of brief panic on his face when he realized grover saw the face he was making when he hugged annabeth back followed by the really awkward smile??? THE WAY HE WAS THINKING ABOUT THE FACT THAT A PRETTY GIRL HUGGED HIM FOR SEVERAL DAYS STRAIGHT AND SAW ANNABETH WAS ACTING WEIRD SO HE ASSUMED SHE WAS DOING THE SAME BUT SHE HAD ACTUAL SERIOUS STUFF TO WORRY ABOUT SO HE JUST ENDED UP TELLING ON HIMSELF???? LIKE THAT IS ACTUALLY SO EMBARRASSING I WAS DYING WATCHING THAT PART. THE WAY HE INDIRECTLY ASKED HER ON A MOVIE DATE AND WOULDNT MAKE EYE CONTACT EXCEPT FOR A MILLISECOND TO SEE HER REACTION BEFORE DARTING HIS EYES AWAY SO FAST????? THE TUNNEL OF LOVE SCENE OVERALL?????? THE WAY HE LOOKS AT HER LIKE YOU CAN LITERALLY SEE THAT HIS PUPILS ARE DILATED IN A GOOD COUPLE OF SCENES WHEN HES LOOKING AT HER LIKE THIS LITTLE BOY IS DOWN ASTRONOMICALLY HE IS SO FUCKING LAME. like we obviously knew the way they were both ready to sacrifice their lives for eachother in a heartbeat and how well they complimented one another and the way they changed each others world views and made the other strive to be better versions of themselves like ive known they were the blueprint since like literally 2nd grade like that didnt stop me from repeatedly bawling my eyes out over it but thats not the point. like we knew this and we could see it in the books but we couldnt see, or at least not fully see, how big of a stupid embarrassing crush percy had on annabeth and how she obviously feels the same way but is better at hiding it like oh my god i love them i wanna squeeze them until their eyes pop out like those old pens at the scholastic book fair do yall remember those?? im sorry guys im so autistic pjo and specifically percabeth has been my special interest since i was 7 and now 10 years later i get to watch them on tv in an adaptation WITH YOUNG RYAN REYNOLDS ARYAN SIMHADRI AND THE ONE AND ONLY MISS LEAH JEFFRIES thats almost entirely book accurate but also adds in fun stuff that works great in the plot and for the most part even better than the original scenes in the books bc the show is how rick would write the series NOW with all of his new gained writing experience like im actually going to explode the show is so good

AAHAHAHA OKAY, HI ITS JURRASIC WORLD ANON
Can i request a stray kids reaction to their partner absolutely bawling at the brachiosaurous scene please 😭 my friends had to console me for like 10 minutes cause it made me cry so hard
stray kids (ot8) reaction to their partner bawling their eyes out to brachiosaurus' scene <3
synopsis: it's time to watch the jurassic park franchise, and when an absolute devastating scene from the movie released nearly 8 years ago shows up, the boys aren't sure how to react when they find their s/o crying their eyes out.
warnings: gender neutral reader, spoilers?
author's note: guys this is literally me with meet the robinson's. everytime little wonders by rob thomas plays in the movie, BOOM. instantly moved to tears.
thank you so much for the request! please consider reblogging my post and leave a cute little comment to boost my work!!
chan was excited to see jurassic world! jurassic park and the entire franchise was an important part in the film industry, so for him to watch the movie for the first time with the love of his life was an absolute prime decision. the movie started off steady, and then it got interesting. and then, it got sad :( the same brachiosaurus from the first movie was caught in the fire, no where to go as the water expanded across the horizon. it was trapped. it was heartbreaking. gut-wrenching to watch. and he would've cried, he wanted to cry. small sniffles echoed across the living room wall, and he turned to see you laying your head on his shoulder, tears streaming down your cheeks. chan. immediately turned to comfort you, his hand brushing your cheek.
"oh, baby, it's so sad." his hands are gentle, as if he wasn't comforting you over an artificial created brachiosaurus. "it's sad, it's okay to cry." he used his thumb to wipe your tears and paused the movie until you felt consoled enough to continue.
minho had already seen a few of the jurassic park franchise movies. how couldn't he have? it's one of the biggest movie franchises of the world. he hasn't watched recent instillments due to a busy schedule, but when you mention finally watching the recent ones on his day off, he immediately took you up on the offer; popcorn, blankets, a nice comfortable pillow, cuddle sessions and a surround system turned up damn near full blast sounded like the perfect night, especially with his favorite person in the whole world. the movie was not too painful to get through, he did cringe at some dialogue throughout the movie, but all movies have those moments. he would've cried at the scene where the brachiosaurus was stranded on the island, but he personally felt like the scene was a bit rushed. he knew you. the second the scene came to an end, he turned to you and pulled you into his arms, kissing the top of your head.
"you're such a crybaby." he whispered, his hand rubbing your shoulder, "it was a bit sad though." he admitted, chuckling to himself. minho knew how quick to tears you could be at movies, and he'd be lying if he didn't find it cute; it just means you can find sentiment in everything. and he admired that.
changbin is totally a movie buff! he has seen the jurassic park movies at least 6 times in his lifetime, and he was probably one of the firsts leading the crusade for the newest movies. changbin loves the movies, and he was the first person at the movie theaters doors on release day, at the earliest showing, with his large tub of popcorn. so, when you told him you never saw the newest ones, he nearly dropped his jaw. how could you not?! he took this as an opportunity to introduce you to some of the greatest movies he's ever experienced. he set everything up, not accepting help from you, before he pulled out a dvd player, and gently placed the disc into the tray (these were the only dvds he owned tbh). he watched excitedly, peeking at you from the corner of his eye to gauge your reaction: happiness, excitement, tension, and of course, sadness. he cried in the theater when the scene came on, and he isn't afraid to admit that it still makes his heart squeeze watching the scene again.
both you and changbin sat on his bed, crying at the scene, the movie paused on the last glimpse of the brachiosaurus, which only made you both cry your eyes out more. changbin and you didn't share any words, but you both shared tears.
hyunjin can admit he has never seen the jurassic park movies. he wasn't a dinosaur kid, he was an ancient egyptian kid fs. he personally thought the premise of the movies were a bit silly. why would they open these parks if it always ended in disaster? but, here he was, sitting beside you, as you wore your acid-washed jurassic park pajama set, excitedly starting the movie. hyunjin was aware of how often you watched these movies, and how much you loved them, so he had no problem watching them with you if it meant he could see how happy you got (dinosaur kid and ancient egyptian kid solidarity). but one thing he could not understand was how you've watched these movies so many times, and you still cry your eyes out to the brachiosaurus scene.
hyunjin wrapped his arm around your shoulder as you cried, rubbing your shoulder comfortingly. okay, he gets it; the scene is sad, but he truly didn't understand why exactly this was so sad. that is until you cried out how the brachiosaurus in the sad scene was the same one from the very first one. then, he understood, and continued to rub your shoulder sweetly, not bothering to mention how you might have just made him a jurassic park fan.
felix has the entire movies memorized. you know that post on this website that says "i'm gonna watch shrek," and it's just the op replaying the movie through their head because they've watched it so many times? yeah, that's felix with jurassic park. he knows the lines, the jokes, the LORE. he had a 16 year hyperfixation on jurassic park, and he wasn't going to let it die! he's watched it so many times, that when you say you wanted to watch the recent ones, he can't help but say yes, like an excited puppy. i think felix has a good grip on his emotions during movies (or he's like me, where i dont understand something until AFTER i finish the movie) so he doesn't cry when he watches it but once he finishes the credits, the waterworks start.
and when he saw you crying about (in his opinion!!!) the most gut-wrenching scene in cinema, he felt his own tears bubble up, pulling you close to him. he's cried over this scene multiple times by himself, but now, he had someone who would understand where exactly he would be coming from. it was a nice comfort.
jisung... oh, boy. jisung definitely got the film spoiled for himself on twitter or youtube or something. he's not a die-hard fan, but he was planning on watching it soon! (it's been almost 8 years, bud, and it's still on his to be watched list). jisung was upset, and wouldn't open the app again until you sat down and watched it with him. jisung is a crier, he cries to movies, even when they aren't sad. but when they are sad, oh my god! he changes his entire personality to match that movie. he will never shut up about it.
jisung cried before your own tears spilled; the music, the shadow that reflected against the smoke. omg, he was breaking down. seeing him cry so hard, made you cry! well, him and the poor brachiosaurus made you cry. you were both hugging each other as you cried, jisung hiccuping about how it wasn't fair and that he would've went back to save them. he cried for the rest of the night,
seungmin is a lot like minho in a sense. he finds the scene rushed, so he couldn't find it in his heart to cry. seungmin watched the movie already, and he knows what happens. he knows it's sad, but he honestly can't find his tears for the scene, even when he first watched it. the scene to him felt sooooo rushed that he kinda just sat there, staring at the television screen, waiting for it to end.
but, he knew you were crying, so he threw an arm around your shoulder, pulling the blanket back over your legs and let you cry. he didn't have any comforting words to say since he couldn't even cry at the scene, but you were happy he even hugged you for the scene!
jeongin isn't a die-hard fan, or a casual enjoyer. he saw the movie once and called it a night. he didn't have any words to say or not about it. when you asked him if he wanted to watch it with you, he agreed, only because he wanted to spend time with you, and he had an excuse to hold you. i think jeongin doesn't honestly remember the movie, so he has to watch it multiple times to even remember, which is why he isn't much of a die-hard fan.
jeongin was crying by the time the scene came up on the screen, and he turned to look at you as your bottom lip quivered at the scene, your eyes pouring the liquid from your eyes. jeongin hugged you tightly. no words exchanged, only warmth, to give comfort to one another. after his second and third watch, it seems like every time he watches it, he cried like a baby each time. (me with meet the robinsons)

Watching episode 1, here are my thoughts
Baby Percy is adorable. They did amazing casting for younger Percy because how are you going to tell me that’s not Walker Scobell
Percy is low key a good artist. His drawings of the monsters he’s seeing are way better than I expected
Grover and Percy, my cuties 🥹🥹
Percy looking at the Perseus statue has me bawling my eyes out
That quote about how everyone who looks like a hero isn’t a hero and how everyone who looks like a monster isn’t a monster is very good. That very much is the core of pjo
Nancy Bobofit is perfect lmao
I don’t like Chiron giving Percy Riptide when he did. I like how it’s done in the books better
Percy and Grover switching items of their sandwiches is so cute. Besties
The fountain scene is funny ngl. It looked so fake 💀
The Mrs. Dodds fight scene was lame
“Is he dead?” Lol
Chiron and Grover and their gaslight gatekeep girlboss moment. Poor Percy
Grover how dare you betray Percy in the principal’s office 😭😭 I would never forgive him for that if I was Percy
“At least I know you think you didn’t.” I’M GOING TO BITE CHIRON’S HEAD OFF
No Greyhound bus scene? No Percy seeing the fates cut the string? No Grover saying that it’s always 6th grade? Those scenes shouldn’t have been cut wtf
Eddie is nice??
Why is Gabe funny? He’s supposed to be an asshole, he’s not supposed to be funny
Sally listening to Olivia Rodrigo while sitting in the rain is stupid. THEY CUT THE WHOLE GREYHOUND BUS SCENE BUT ADD THIS??? MAKE IT MAKE SENSE
Blue jellybeans 🥺🥺
Why are Sally and Gabe low key friends?? How is his murder via Medusa’s head justified with this behavior? Gabe better get worse
The show is too dark. I have my laptop at full brightness and it’s still hard to see
Why is Sally telling Percy about his dad being a god while at Montauk? I like how it happens in the book better
“You feel in love with God? Like Jesus?” Lol
No because why is Percy being told everything before even leaving Montauk? He should be in the dark and have his life flipped upside while he’s grieving Sally at camp
“Why are you telling me this?” <- I would also like the answer to that question
“Grover, why is there half a goat in your pants?” Idk but something about how that line is phrased is hilarious
The car scene is literally so dark. I can’t see anything that is happening
“I’m actually 24.” Grover, now is not the time to explain the weird aging of satyrs
Why is Sally putting so much pressure on Grover. That’s not Sally 🤨 I like Sally’s actress but I don’t think the people in the writer’s room get her character
This pacing is wack. Literally why is everything moving so fast??
I don’t like that Percy has Riptide during the fight with the Minotaur. Actually, I don’t like the fight scene at all. It’s so boring and I can hardly see what’s happening
Overall, it’s cute. I don’t love it, but I don’t hate it. I’m going to be honest, I don’t care about the characters or story so far because I feel like I’m being told I should care, but not shown why I should care. The pacing is horrible so far. Everything is moving too fast. The show also suffers from having horrible lighting. It’s hard to care about what’s happening when you can’t see what’s happening on the screen. It’s all very boring right now. Where’s the chaos that kept me hooked the first time?? Actors are great, I’ll give them that. But the show is so far not doing it for me

i… really don’t know what to come on here and say about minato shoji coin laundry for this second to last ep. bc i was all prepared after watching the ep to come on and praise it, but after what reading what other people have said (and no, it’s not me just following the crowds or being easily influenced), i feel like i can’t just praise it. bc it made me cry, it made me bawl, it made me feel a lot, all the scenes revisiting their old moments and minato getting the courage to tell shin they were dating and all the times shin called minato cute, it made me sob and also kick my feet bc it was cute and like… that’s the show, cuteness with that underlying emotional weight. and what i was going to say was that i like that the amnesia storyline requires minato to have some more emotional maturity and, and this was even more blatantly shown with the parallel with the letter at the end of the ep, that it essentially puts minato in shin’s place, except there’s some very important differences, those being that shin isn’t just some blushing, insecure man who can’t face his feelings, he’s literally forgotten them, and while all of minato’s behaviour was his own decision and responsibility to make, shin is working from nothing and still being more willing than minato was. and also being that minato doesn’t just have to push away someone in denial of their feelings and stay determined like shin did, there’s actual hard decisions to be made here, bc if shin has forgotten those feelings, he can’t just push him to get them back, or just push him into a relationship anyway without him remembering their past, and while yes there’s nuance to whether shin’s persistence was right despite rejection, there’s a lot more nuance here, and a lot more reason to back away when he’s putting shin in a much more difficult position that shin ever put him in. i see why they wanted the parallel to work, and while i love it for seeing how far minato has come to fight for shin, I just don’t think it does work, bc ultimately it plays into minato’s long standing belief that shin is better off without him, bc now trying to fight for their relationship just makes things hard for shin, and he can believe that stepping away is amicable bc it’s the right thing to do. and that’s the thing, it is, and that’s why it doesn’t work bc the story should be telling minato that it’s right to fight for him.
and then i read @bengiyo and @lurkingshan ‘s posts and i just thought… sigh. you’re right. as much as i don’t want to admit it bc i adore the show so much, and can even see what they’re trying to do, ultimately i shouldn’t go soft on them. and yes i can praise them for what they are doing that’s good, but i can also be endlessly mad and annoyed that this is the ending we got. that we had to show how far minato has come but actually hasn’t come and he was right all along like this, when we didn’t need amnesia and separation and a rehash of their best bits to do that. it’s like nostalgia bait almost, that they have to call back to s1 so directly, even in all the things they did this ep, it’s so telling that none of it was from s2, to elicit an emotional response from me when i could have been bawling my eyes out bc im watching a minato and shin from the end of s2 that have come so far, still having to overcome some really difficult situations. and it’s maddening that this season, after making so much progress, felt like it had to ultimately go all the way back to square one just to milk drama and get its ending, when we should’ve just kept going forward. we could’ve dealt with parents, or coming out to people in the neighbourhood, or an issue at university or at the laundromat. we could have, and this is asking a lot, had a frank look at their approach to intimacy now that they’re living together, and it’s not about seeing them be intimate for the sake of it, it’s the fact that this is a part of their relationship that needs addressing, and they could come to a point where minato says I’m not ready or i don’t want that kind of stuff and I would’ve been so happy bc it would’ve been an actual adult conversation. and while yes im glad they’re not taking this amnesia thing so seriously and making it at least a little fun before it’s just crushing, i kinda resent the idea that you need this big drama for an ending. like sometimes we can just keep having story beats and end on that. the season had been so good for creating these small bits of drama that address the issues in their relationship and help them grow so just keep doing that. we just don’t need it.
so yes, i can still watch it for what it is, but man am I gonna be wistful for what it could’ve been
#im sad in like every single kind of way#the ep was good and cute I still love it#but I just think they could’ve really done something here#minato shouji coin laundry

Hello, can I ask from this ask game :
https://www.tumblr.com/threecheersforinking/677824836625694720/anime-ask-game?source=share
For anime/manga : Banana Fish, SK8 The Infinity, Attack on Titans and Wotakoi...
P.s
I want to ask JJK and BNHA, but I'm afraid if the ask will be too long....
Hello, hello, anon! 💜 thank you for reaching out. Just know that we do not fear length here. Those who will read, will read. Besides, this is a question posed by and meant for you.
I appreciate that you knew I'd struggle to be succinct tho haha I think I nailed it okay (literally, what do I know?).
BANANA FISH
Favorite Character: Ash Lynx
Favorite Arc/Episode/Scene: The moment of recognition that focused Ash’s eyes when, with his vision compromised, he realized Eiji had come to rescue him from Dino. 🥹 Eiji hugging Ash after they rescue him from Fox. MAX BURNING ASH’S PICTURES.
Character I Think is Underrated: Max Lobo. I don’t know where he rates but it‘ll never be high enough in my book (see above).
Character I Think is Overrated:
Favorite Ship/Pairing: AshEiji
Something I Love About the Show/Movie: I honestly don’t know if I loved it. I mean. I’ve recommended it on multiple lists but it was triggering, I bawled my eyes out, I had to stop watching part way for over a month because it devastated me and, after everything, it ended so unfairly. Watching Banana Fish is an experience that festers within me that I am occasionally compelled to relive. So maybe there’s something to be said for a story that can inspire that in a way that lasts (I’ve literally only watched it once and won’t again). Maybe I just love the idea of a broken person who can still be loved and regarded gently without condition.
SK8 THE INFINITY
Favorite Character: Kaoru “Cherry” Sakurayashiki, he’s so gender.
Favorite Arc/Episode/Scene: this is one series that justifiably has a beach episode if only to set up Miya cockblocking Joe. Joe will never beat the Down-Bad-For-Kaoru allegations, either.
Character I Think is Underrated: Miya. I feel like there’s more unexplored lore RE: Adam, his relationship with food and, of course, his relationship with his parents and peers. Oka is another sleeper but I think I was just intrigued by the fanon idea of Oka from fan art
Character I Think is Overrated:
Favorite Ship/Pairing: MatchaBlossom, also, knowing Kaoru and Adam had some fling or something pre-MB is precisely what I mean when I say your favorite characters wouldn’t just settle down. Let them be messy like people, it’s better for the lore.
Something I Love About the Show/Movie: I love a show I can share with my niece and nephew but, more than that, the music was a VIBE.
ATTACK ON TITAN
Favorite Character: Levi Ackerman
Favorite Arc/Episode/Scene: Erwin’s galvanizing speech in Shinganshina. 🔪💔 Or the big reveal at the castle tower when the main cast were just recruits under scrutiny. Their outlandish victory there.
Character I Think is Underrated: Poor Moblit had to put up with so much hahaha respected Hange's pronouns, supported their eccentricity (with caution) and was an absolute ride or die.
Character I Think is Overrated: Eren Jaeger.
Favorite Ship/Pairing: Eruri
Something I Love About the Show/Movie: the exposition. Not by the spoonful but, instead, by the shock of a snapping jaw. With the subject matter being as heavy as it is, the world building unfurled in such a way that you, as the viewer, are an ignorant person behind the wall. You learned things as the characters, namely the main trio, came to understand them. They grew up with your expanding world view, their innocence falling away as the harsh reality of the world they lived in shifted into focus and it was done so elegantly that you never see the next big twist coming. Even with all the easter eggs you come to realize after the fact!
WOTAKOI: LOVE IS HARD FOR OTAKU
Favorite Character: Hanako Koyanagi and Hirotaka Nifuji are like neck and neck
Favorite Arc/Episode/Scene: Not only finding out that Hanako cosplays but that she is like renowned for her handsome characters.
Character I Think is Underrated: Naoya Nifuji - I kinda feel like there's not a thought behind those eyes but so, so nice. Also, well meaning chaos when he almost blows Hirotaka's cover. But, see what I mean?
Character I Think is Overrated:
Favorite Ship/Pairing: Both of the main two couples have some issues but.. isn't that real life? So.. Hanako and Taro even though they argue, the love runs deep
Something I Love About the Show/Movie: It's so relatable ✨ (see above)
JUJUTSU KAISEN
Favorite Character: So many, honestly. Gojo, Nanami and Nobara are just top tier, in my opinion for many reasons.
Favorite Arc/Episode/Scene: Toss up between Nobara and Yuji becoming accomplices because the trio were really stepping up while trying to undo that curse or the Hidden Inventory/Premature Death arc in setting the stage for everything.
Character I Think is Underrated: Nanami Kento. I talk a lot about Geto Suguru being doomed by the narrative but maybe it's just any earnest man in jujutsu society. It's why Gojo tests to make sure his students are crazy before accepting them.
Character I Think is Overrated: Toji Zenin. Don't get me wrong, character wise, he's zesty and he's so grossly mischaracterized that it makes me question people's reading comprehension. He's an interesting wildcard whose omitted background, I think, will boomerang back into the story. But some of the fan obsession is a bit out of my realm of understanding.
Favorite Ship/Pairing: *gestures vaguely to the rest of my blog* SatoSugu, but it's pretty casual.
Something I Love About the Show/Movie: Surprisingly, the prevalence of alternative representation and bad ass female cast that subverts typical shonen fodder. But also, the fact that the chaos that is seemingly bringing on the end of the world in the current timeline is literally thanks to two teenagers who would willingly fight a god but couldn't be honest about how they felt 10 years ago. There are so many "if only's" in this series, it's maddening, actually.
MY HERO ACADEMIA
Favorite Character: Katsuki Bakugo
Favorite Arc/Episode/Scene: All Might vs. AFO as Bakugo and Deku watch from a distance.
Character I Think is Underrated: Tokoyami. Having placed third in the sports festival, Tokoyami appreciation is still not loud enough for me. Locks down an internship with the Number 2 hero. Bears the burden of a heteromorph quirk while locked in an eternal effort to subjugate Dark Shadow. Has presumably stellar taste in music and poetry. Kid is legitimately fearsome and, yet, people don’t put enough respect on him even though he’s lowkey also OP.
Character I Think is Overrated: I’m going to get some hate for this but.. All Might. His arrested development may not be his fault but misguiding Midoriya out of some misplaced sense of ego or obligation was so frustrating when he's the adult in the situation. I just think he deserves more slander.
Favorite Ship/Pairing: BakuDeku and/or EraserMic (fanon EraserMic content is always just 😘👌🏾) but there are a lot of great ones to choose from, I have plenty of faves.
Something I Love About the Show/Movie: The idea that anyone can be a hero and, inversely, that anyone can be a villain. The latter stemming from the fact that you don’t know who you are in other people’s story, nor how close you are to ruin with one lapse in judgement. There’s a persisting idea of redemption while a lot of the heavy hitters in this conflict are entrenched in generations' worth of unrest. Think about Compress, Geten's family (not calling out a spoiler here but IYKYK), Redestro, All For One, One for All... the list goes on and on. I have a draft somewhere about this but got too busy to put all my thoughts down for a lot of theories I had for MHA. So maybe I also love that it's a story that has always kept me guessing in a really constructive way. Lastly, with such a huge, nuanced ensemble cast, I think a lot of people are able to see themselves in the context of these characters which is really unique.

By now, everyone would have watched the special episode of "Love in the Air." Listen to me then. I really want to brag about this scene. Cuz, why not! It's bragging time! 😭❤
This scene is literally a masterpiece. I am so happy that they decided to do this scene and bring this topic up. It was very brave of them. It was a needed scene in many ways.
First of all, they brought this topic up. We all know that even though Thailand has the most amazing BL series production, they still haven't legalised same-sex marriage. There may be so many couples who wish to marry and settle. Even though it's just a tradition or whatever, it gives you the right to take care of your significant other. And that's why this scene had a big impact too. Loved it!!
Secondly, this scene showed us the character development of both Pai and Sky. Mostly Pai. From a playboy with no strings attached life, he is now in love with his one and only and loyal to him, loving him, taking care of him, and whatever he can do he is willing to do. He said he wants to marry Sky because he wants to have the legal right to take care of him. Oh my god. I'm bawling my eyes out. He didn't just say that about him. He said everyone should have the right to take care of their loved ones. SPEAK UP P'PAI!!! STANDING OVATION!!! 😭💥🔥 Looking at it, we know how much Pai loves Sky. Not him being the adorable baby in front of Sky. I AM NOT OKAY! 😭❤ As for Sky, Pai keeps surprising him through action. Like Pai said, he makes Sky the happiest through his actions, not words. Sky being confident here by saying "then please wait for me," my boy trusts his P'Pai so much now.😭❤ My boy deserves it!!! He learned not everyone is like his ex. He has learned to love and trust again. He smiles more now. He is more than ever sassy now!!😭❤ Love him!!
P'Pai be breaking all standards of men!! Literally !!
And that is NOT THE END!!
Sky asking "Are you asking me to marry you?"
Pai said "Not today. Not now. Maybe after graduation. Maybe after you get a job. Maybe after you get to live the life you want. When you are ready, I'm gonna propose to you."
WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WITH THIS?!! I CANT!!😭
Pai is willing to wait. He is willing to wait for his Sky to be ready whenever it is. I mean PLEASE!!!! 😭 He respects and love everything about his Sky. He respects every decision Sky makes. Sky looking Pai like 'I choose the right person. He is my person.' Yes he is Sky! Just yours! You my boys deserves each other! And all my love for you both!!
He said he is willing to take care of Sky for the rest of his life. THATS WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT!! The confidence in him when he said those words! He will keep his Sky by his side no matter what. Yes! He will. I mean to be loved is a beautiful feeling. And hearing these words from the person you love, there wont be anything happier than that. Sky was so happy that he giggled when he heard Pai saying that. He know his P'Pai is whipped for him.😭🤌❤
Guys P'Pai set the standards so high that we will be singles forever!!🙂🤌

Okay, re: your last post. I think what bugs me the most about people saying this season was “bad” or “not worth watching” simply because their ship didn’t get “endgame”. Is that it has never been what the show was about!! Like sure they use the “love triangle” for marketing but the true heart of the show is Nalini and Devi’s relationship. When I first started watching the show I was skeptical because all I had seen was the romantic aspect but the show drew me in with Devi’s relationship with her mom. (What can I say she is about girls with complicated relationships with their moms always get me). All the ever most rememberable scenes to me are ones that either feature Devi and Nalini or Devi and Dr. Ryan.
I forgot to mention this is my post yesterday but one of my favorite scene from season one is when Nalini goes and talks to Dr. Ryan. When she lets her know just how scared she is for Devi and how much she herself is struggling. That whole scene is so underrated.
Anyways, your last post was spot on and I wish more people appreciated the beauty that is the vishwakumar women’s relationships.
sorry i'm so late answering this but yes!!! this!!!! all of this!!!!! like...the romance has never been the central theme of nhie. devi's grief has. devi's relationship with nalini has. devi and nalini's combined grief, the way they heal together, the way they hurt together, the way they hurt each other because they're both in this immense pain....that's always been the cornerstone of the show. devi, then nalini. obviously i'm pleased with the endgame, more than pleased actually, but that was something i saw coming from a mile away. they made it obvious from the get-go and it just kept getting clearer and clearer each season. but devi and nalini? the ways they hurt each other and healed each other? none of that was predictable, and even if it was, it just...holds so much more emotional weight than any of the other relationships in the show. ben and devi saying "i love you" for the first time didn't make me sob my eyes out and clutch my chest and ache for my own mother.
but you know what did?
1x10: "i can't believe i said i wish you were dead. i didn't mean it." "no, no, don't apologize. sometimes i also wish i was the one who had died. i know you think that it was your father who was the only one who cared about you, but that's not true. i love you. you're my only child. you're my whole family."
2x09: "what if i forget what dad sounds like?" "you'll never forget that, kutti. your father will always be a part of you. but if you need a little help remembering, i might have something."
3x09 "what if, um...what if nobody ever loves me because i'm always too much?" "oh, devi. listen to me. you're never too much, and you're always enough. and one day, you will find someone who loves you exactly as you are, just like i do."
3x10 "i just... i need one more year with you. we don't know what's gonna happen. okay? look at dad. i just...i need more time with you. is that okay?" "yeah. it's okay, kanna."
4x10 i don't know how to pack." "well, let's just do it together then." "i don't think i can go tomorrow. you were right, i can't do anything without you." "yes, you can. you just don't have to do it right now."
there are definitely more that i'm missing but those...those are the scenes that wreck me. those are the scenes that have left me literally bawling and having to pause the show because i'm crying so hard that i can't see a damn thing. those scenes are the heart of the show. like, i'm sorry, but there are no dxtn scenes, no benvi scenes that come even close to those.
nalini and devi are at the heart of the show. they always have been. i just wish more people could see that.
#sorry im just. in my feelings about Moms right now and felt like this was a good time to answer it lol#let's pretend i'm not answering this three weeks late <3#kay tag#asks#mutuals#nhie#devi vishwakumar#nalini vishwakumar

okay so, not music related (if u twist it, it can be tho) but. you mentioned media and that so, top 5 films? my fav question to ask anyone as a (almost) film student
Finally found the time to answer this as I’m on a 3 hour train ride (willing myself to not make a 1975 reference right now) so here ya go!! thank you for your patience :)
1. Knives Out (Dir. Rian Johnson)
my favourite genre of typically everything will always be a good classic murder mystery (I am a massive agatha christie fan), I love anything that really makes you think and look out for stuff whilst you’re watching it and gets your heart pumping, so this is why this will always be my favourite film because of how masterfully it was developed. everything down to the angles chosen by rian to literally everything in the film (I’ve watched the videos where he breaks down scenes on YouTube so many times) is just perfect and makes so much sense — something that gets lost sometimes (in my opinion) in mysteries. although the sequel isn’t on my top 5 list, I genuinely think it was one of the strongest second instalments to any franchise and I throughly enjoyed it.
2. Red Eye (Dir. Wes Craven)
similar reason to knives out, I love the thrill of the film because of the confined space, which initially would make the audience think there wouldn’t be much you could use and get stuck, but I don’t think this was an issue in the film at all. my mate initially chucked this on without telling us anything about the film (besides cillian murphy being in it, which was enough to convince me) so imagine the surprise on my face when I realised this wasn’t a cute corny romcom. the ending fight sequence in the house was also fucking amazing and quickly shot to my top 5 list immediately after watching it. I also fancy the duck out of rachel mcadams so this was a bisexual dream.
3. Moulin Rouge! (Dir. Baz Luhrmann)
I just love love. I love love love love. the best love story to ever be told in such a extravagant way with an hilarious cast. this is also my favourite stage musical of all time and the way they adapted it was brilliant. really does pull the story together amazingly and teaches the audience a lot through it’s hard hitting ending — I cry every time, and despite my love for satine I don’t think I’d love this film as much if it didn’t end the way that it does.
4. JoJo Rabbit (Dir. Taika Waititi)
this is also another film that made me bawl so much when I saw it in the cinema, the way that it made me feel emotionally pulled on my heartstrings like no other film I had seen before, especially with the masterful shot of rosie’s shoes. that’s what got me (and I’m pretty sure what got everyone). to be on my top 5 list, a film either has to emotionally destroy me which makes me experience emotions I never thought I had, or blow my mind. as you can see every film on this list at least meets one of those factors.
5. Now You See Me (Dir. Louis Leterrier)
finally, the awesome film that is now you see me. I admittedly am quite obsessed with jessie eisenburg in this film (unashamed) and I feel bad for my friends who saw me whilst I was at my peak obsession with this film. but all the characters / cast compliment each other really well, and either I’m just insanely easily impressed (all of my friends will definitely agree with me on this) or the ending was just mind blowing. maybe a mixture of both? either way, I also think this film has one of the greatest scores of all time. truly is a masterpiece in every sense of the word!
I will mention the most recent film I watched in the cinema was Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Pt. 1 and I was absolutely blown away by it. some excellent directing and choice of shots, costumes etc. as a media student genuinely did feel that everything (down to the last detail) was carefully thought of. also so excited for barbenhiemer I will be watching them both on the same date as a double bill — it’s the law.

just finished reading the final chapter of tdlp and mady, what a journey… what a fucking journey. i just spent a good fifteen minutes blasting "every breath you take" and bawling my eyes out. I can't believe we've finally reached the end.
it honestly feels like i just finished watching a whole new crime series, every scene that you had written literally played in front of my eyes. tdlp is and will always be one of my favourite fics, the amount of tension and suspense really had me postponing my plans because i couldn't go through my day knowing there was a new update. I just had to finish reading it first.
if i start speaking about your writing technique you won't see the end of it, the visual imagery, the symbolism??
"When the queen is captured, you always think the game is over. Checkmate. It’s done. No one pays much attention to the pawns, and before you know it they’ve gone across the board and become queen.”
I just let out a guttural scream at the part. So sooooo good I am rendered speechless.
Wilhelm's revenge on Erik was so satisfying, pretty gorey and grotesque, i almost threw up, but still so good.
I know almost all the characters are morally corrupt but I still love the characterization of each of them. I really don't know whether any other work will ever make me feel the thrill i felt while reading each chapter. It's so hauntingly unique and intriguing. Just so captivating.
can't wait to go through the whole fic again to read those little clues you left here and there and see how everything fits into place perfectly. (the royal family in tdlp universe is going to be in shambles now that both princes are gone and i can't stop thinking about how insane the investigation of the crown prince's death will be wow-)
Thank you for writing it! I can't say it enough! your consistency and the amount of research you've done for the fic is insane. If i could just turn back time and go back to the day I first found your fic I would do it in a heartbeat. congratulations on completing this masterpiece, I am definitely not covered in snot and tears while typing this I am definitely not sad that it ended. but finally, all the puzzle pieces are in order. I've had my fill. I can die happily now.
I also made two covers for you as a little congratulatory gift, hope you like them!💜 you're amazing💕
Hello!
First of all, thank you so much for all the love you've shown TDLP. Your messages and edits are so incredible, and as an author it's such an honor to have my story inspire such creativeness. Honestly, you're so talented!
Don't worry about sending long messages/asks like this because believe me, it really makes our day. To see someone so invested in the story is wonderful and really keeps us motivated as writers. I love hearing all of your thoughts, especially for a fic like this where mystery and suspense are the core themes.
TDLP is probably the most exhausting fic I've ever written because of the amount of research and organization that I had to apply, but it's also the most fulfilling! There was a certain sense of accomplishment after I posted the last chapter. I'm so glad to have shared this journey with you!
(PS. I will be posting a little thread on twt about the fic, so you can check it out if you want 😁)
Thank you so much and you're amazing too 💜💜💜

Ok spoilers for Disenchated but there was something about this movie that had a missed opportunity and I'm about to go on a mini rant about it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ok, first of all. It wasn't bad. The movie was very entertaining and we love a bunch of call backs. However: The focus was entirely wrong.
The focus should have been entirely about Gisele and Morgan's relationship.
Take away the unneeded Evil Queen character and we focus entirely on Giselle's slow decent into wicked step mother trope, we get a much more emotional movie about family.
I mean the entire point of the original Enchanted was to poke fun at the Disney tropes and even change them while at the same time continuing them. If we're going to watch Giselle slowly turn into a wicked step mother then why not have a scene where Morgan breaks that wicked step mother trope with the love she has for her mother?
I mean, when in a Disney movie, have we had any princess reconcile with their step mother? We could have had that in this movie. I expected it! I mean, instead of the tree memory scene we could have gotten Morgan going to Giselle trying to get her to snap out of it saying:
"Yes, in this fairy tale, you are my step mother. And in all these stories, step mothers are wicked and evil. That's why you are the way you are because that's how it's always been told! But, didn't you tell me once before that not all step mothers are like that? Not only that, you went ahead and proved those stupid tropes wrong by becoming the mother I needed! You're the mom who came in like a literal princess out of a fairy tale and changed our lives for the better. The mom that stayed. The mom I needed most. Mom. Please... lets go home. Im sorry and I love you. I love you so much Mom."
Something like that. I would have bawled like a baby ngl.
Either way, I don't hate the movie or how it turned out. Just a little disappointed they didn't go further into the step mother plot some more and really drive it into focus. I would have loved to watch Giselle slowly go from herself to entirely wicked without the need of a clock and her eyes doing a shine. Just slow deliberate subtle changes until boom. She's the trope. Then that finale would have been way more emotional.
#princess#disenchanted#disenchanted spoilers#my thoughts#something was missing#and i think thats what it was#oh well#it was still entertaining#love power is a damn good song#people may disagree with me and thats fine#missed opportunity#is all im saying#and yes morgan taking up the role would have been good#cause then she would have also broken that trope by being a trie princess#and helping her mother
Playing Games
I've often heard the expression "don't play games with me." It's an unusual expression that I understand, but don't vibe with, as it gives game playing a bad rap.
Games are meant to be playful, not manipulative, and the intent is to bring joy, excitement and even healthy competition to the moment. It’s a departure from the grind, an energy shift into presence and the lightness of being. A game can serve to be a bonding, taking a group of individuals and giving them a group purpose. It’s an opportunity to focus, removing us from the cacophony of noises that pound on the daily into our senses.
The word “playful” derives its meaning from the word “play,” meaning that we’re filled (full) with play and joy. No stressors exist from work or financial dealings. We’re in the moment, and that moment is anxiety free. Unless, of course, the angst is from being competitive-about-stupid-shit like I am. I treat some games like the Super Bowl, even pulling a hamstring playing Charades. Ever trying acting out “whole thing” of Titanic? Daddy went down with the ship, literally!
One affirmation/confirmation I’ve heard many times is that I’m a good dad. I would humbly agree. Contrary to what kind of an ass I can be to adults, my four kids get a devoted and loving father 24/7. No matter what difficult circumstances are thrown this way, the centered ground of being a great parent cannot be tumbled. Fumbled, yes, tumbled, no. The committed roots of love are too strong. One thing my children will never grow up to work out in therapy is - “I was raised with no laughs by a boring man who never smiled.” Ha!
Not having a dad in my life as a child reinforces the yearning to be an active, loving and supportive father to the four Shoemaker kids. I give them all I longed for as a boy.
One thing that stayed with me, and inspires me aways to heal, is missing what the other kids had - playing with their pops. I recall being so resentful of my neighbors, who had a large family unit, all referring to events as “my dad” this and “my dad” that. I sarcastically called the oldest boy next door, “my dad,” acting as if he was trying to make me jealous, when indeed he was simply spelling out his activity that day. “My dad is taking us to Phillies game.” Grrrr. It would send me to envy and sadness, knowing I could never utter those words.
One Father’s Day 18 years ago, my son Justin cued up the scene from Field of Dreams, where Kevin Costner’s character, Roy Kinsella, asks his ghost father, “do you want to have a catch?” With a devilish look on his face, Justin pressed play, and watched me bawl my eyes out, while begging him to stop the video.
That classic film is all based in the world of the game of baseball, metaphoric meanings aplenty, with family love at the core. All walks of life, varying goals and agendas, are all brought together by a game some have never even played. They found bliss on a field created from dreams. We can do the same in our lives, creating a personal world that’s not so dark and serious, abundant with emotional freedom.
My children thrive when we engage in games. Before bed I give them choices of invented family customs we play out. Most often they choose trivia we call, “Keyser Soze,” where my knowledge nudgers are spawned from looking around the room, like Keyser Soze made up his story in the film, The Unusual Suspects. For instance, I spy the vertical window blinds and ask, “what blind singer sang Georgia?”
We laugh a lot, even if it’s making fun of me for asking a dumb question. I’ll trip on a banana peel for them. Laughter is the greatest form of intimate unity.
I say we humans pull away from the evil triad of fear, doubt and worry, and jump on the train of love, light and laughter. If happiness is the goal, then there will be less “mind games” to worry about. You get to create your own energetic space, and the mean folks will go away when your vibe is about fun.
What kind of games do you play with your loved ones and friends? Share that. It’s better than sharing a photo of your ass in a thong at a beach we’re not at!
Oh. Gotta go. My kids have a Frisbee, waiting for their dad to play…on the sand…in front of our luxury hotel…in sunny Maui…where you’re not.
Hahaha. Just playing with you. Have a fun day, wherever you’re playing your games!
Holy shit I just watched the first episode of tlou. It was EVERYTHING I wanted and hoped and prayed for it to be! Literally every character so far is casted SO perfectly, I cannot get over it. The sets they built, the way it's filmed, the tone and colours of everything, it's all just so spot on. When the intro came on and every time those guitar riffs from the game got played I got chills all over my body. Of course there are minor changes to how the story unfolds and some added scenes but it all matches and makes sense for a TV show that people who are unfamiliar with the game can also enjoy. But still all the important plot points are true to the game. It makes me so excited to watch because I think this series will achieve what all of us want it to. Also everytime they include dialogue or scenes directly from the game it sends me spinning into orbit. "Your watch is broken" alone had me ready to bawl my eyes out. And when Marlene said to Joel "don't fuck this up...please" everything that was about to happen flashed in my mind and it honestly fucked me up. I cannot wait for the next episode!!
omg yesss s everything you said!!! it’s so perfect. i have never been so absorbed into an episode of tv so fast, the second those guys came on talking about fungus infection i was like ok yes yea i’m so in and i did not move til the episode ended. literally best episode of tv i have ever seen, i’ve already rewatched it twice since im sick, and i just cannot get over how well done it is down to the smallest detail. im trying not to have the HIGHEST hopes for how good the show is going to be but the first episode being THAT amazing has me so excited for just how great its going to be
