#i liked the episode but ofc it's not the best

Started imagining what a sonic and shadow timeloop episode would look like in boom and the more I imagine, the more I'm convinced it could happen. They immediately suspect Eggman ofc and burst into his lair and find him working on some stupid bullshit machine and they deduce from his behavior that yeah he has no idea what's happening, so they keep investigating. At the end it turns out to be Eggman... from the future! He explains that he made a machine that causes a timeloop to form around someone, so naturally he wanted to use it on sonic, but he knew sonic would just destroy the machine to stop the timeloop, so he invented another machine to go back in time. Sonic would never suspect a future Eggman! Sonic interrupts his explanation to ask why he didn't just like, go back in time to when sonic was a baby and defeat him then, and Eggman sheepishly admits that the time machine can't go back that far. It can only go back a week. Sonic repeats "a week" and asks if he seriously created a time machine AND a timeloop machine in a week, and Eggman says he's gotten hooked on energy drinks recently and he's kind of had trouble falling asleep so he just started building. Shadow finally speaks up to ask why he's in the loop, too. Why not just sonic? And Eggman puts on his best evil face and says it's revenge for betraying him. Shadow says it isn't betrayal if he never agreed to cooperate in the first place. Eggman gets mad and starts trying to destroy them in his usual manner, and obviously they kick his ass and destroy the machine. Finally free from the timeloop, the two of them look at each other and sonic says that maybe shadow isn't that bad after all, and shadow punches him in the gut and leaves him in the dirt. The end

Classic "two characters are stuck in a time loop and have to work together to escape it" episode of Sonic boom except it's sonic and shadow looping and it takes shadow months to realize that anything is wrong bc he spends all of his time in the void offscreen doing nothing talking to nobody going nowhere

as much as it's sometimes funny to call arthur and john homoerotic i really genuinely appreciate that their relationship is entirely platonic like. they're friends :] they're buddies :D they've gone through so much together and time and time again they choose to call each other their friend..... it's very sweet

Rewatching TFA, for the hundredth time in a row, and I've got to say. I used to think Sari was, kind of annoying, during my first initial watch and sometimes. The things she does makes me go wide-eyed and gripping at the screen going, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?"

But then now, as I'm rewatching it hundreds of times over. I have to physically remind myself that she is a child.

And not only that, but she was a child that was BARELY raised properly. She didn't have other children to socialize around, she had a robot teacher, a robot dog companion, and her occasionally in her life father who was busy manufacturing robots, entertaining the ideas of tours and etcetera.

So maybe, yes. I can definitely understand why she does rash things, and act the way she does. I understand why she's seen as a social outcast amongst other groups of kids (like in the show, ON HER BIRTHDAY).

And I'm not as mad as her, as anybody should be for a child who was raised/taught the wrong things or having not been taught at all.

However...

THIS GUY.

they should do another tv show about the jedi but actually lean into an episodic nature. instead of having a static main cast, have a constantly rotating ensemble one to show the various ways the jedi help/live in the galaxy. like star wars visions except live action. i think that would be fun + add constraints (1 plot per episode) that would force the writers to keep each episode tight/not have the crutch of "we can expand this character later/add a random one-off NPC to introduce a critical plot point and then vanish forever" to fall back on. imo star wars has always done better with movies than shows and i think this would be a lovely marriage between the two. have a c-plot throughline tying all the episodes together for the final episode to resolve w/ cameos from characters that had episodes about them throughout the season. like atp they have so many of these mid to flop shows floating around might as well just add another one just to see if it breaks the curse. statistically speaking they've got to strike gold eventually

Hello! I'm glad I'm not the only one enjoying this unexpected detour into A-Team :')

& I can certainly try! My only real caveat is that I make gifs/clips after I've watched that episode, and I'm currently at s3e3 (Fire) with s3e4 (Timber) coming up next in my watch! So as long as I've watched the ep I'll put it on my next-day-off's to-do list, and if not I'll keep it in my mind for when I get to that episode ;)

i also think it's better to give lupin more friends/allies, goemon is someone straightforward and honest who wont outright betray him but will sometimes oppose him depending on the circumstances. i think having him as a friend and as an outsider can both work tbh

A very funny thing about a good man goes to war is that like on paper, the idea of the doctor going all out and calling in all of their debt to fight overwhelming odds and save a friend sounds amazing. It's like, in a at the time 50 years old show this shit writes itself.

But instead of focusing this episode on Amy's trauma (Wich barely ever comes up after that given howuch of it is used purely for the sake of the twist and not like character stakes) moffat chose to focus it on the doctor "rising higher and falling lower than ever before". Wich uh, should not be the point of this story.

Instead of giving us a meaningful reunion of well loved characters, (like stolen earth/journey's end did two series before) they just brought back the pirates from that very forgettable episode and the airplane guy from that Churchill wankfest episode. A gimmick that moffat already used in the opening sequence of Pandorica opens where everyeaningful side characters of the season (and at this point the era) pass along that painting that barely have any impact on the plot (by Wich I mean it could easily have been anything else that initiate the plot and make as much sense). So because he already did this he has to introduce new characters Wich well if you're gonna play out the doctor calling in their debt, using said debt to introduce more than half side characters of the episode and introduce them as if the viewer was anticipating their return is a definitely weird move.

Instead of giving us a real enemy to fight, the church of the silence never really feels that intimidating. The headless monks are clearly just there so the doctor can hide under a hood. And having rory destroy a whole cyber legion just for kicks undermines the threat level of the church in comparison (that man can threaten a whole ass cyber legion what are some human soldiers on a teeny tiny base gonna do?). Where journey's end gave us daleks with a whacky plan to destroy reality, with internal conflicts and dynamics, a good man goes to war never feels that much like the church is actually that powerfull. All they got is an hostage

Of course a lot could be said about the way this episode threat homosexuality in side characters as a comedic punchline. Wether it's the nameless soldiers that get beheaded or vastra and Jenny first appearance their homosexuality is supposed to be laughed at.

And then again there's the "rise higher and fall lower than ever before" shit Wich Is? Very fun in the broader context of the show? The episode end with a tiny base evacuated with no casualty and a baby kidnapped. When you consider the shit the seventh doctor pulled against the old gods, and how far he went to manipulate his companion, what the eighth and war doctor sacrificed and the atrocities they commited in the war In heaven and the time war, the shit 8 pulled in the divergent universe. How desperate 5 was on androzani, how 4 faced the guilt of allowing the daleks to exists, how 6 got put on trial and made to believe he failed to save his friend. How ten almost become fucking rassillon 2, how twelve chose to wait in a torture chamber for 4 billions year and the moment he got out fucked up his whole society and his own laws to save his friend, how ten got gollumified for a whole year before getting up by a genkidama powered by the trust and love of his friend telling people about him, even how thirteen faced the litteral embodiment of time whilst her parent set the universe on fire for the hell of it. How litteraly seven episodes before eleven got trapped in a box by his enemies and had to manually turn off and then on again the timeline. Yeah I don't think winning a rock and losing a baby that you still know will be fine is that special among all of this.
