I dont know if you're still doing Sunday confessions this week, but my confession is I'm tired of doomscrolling stans of TZ. I'm sorry to start this negative on your blog, but it's too much. As of recently, there have been certain anons who go on some blogs, including your own destiny, who are so negative at both of theirs career cause they can't compare it to strangers on stantwitter. It's the main reason I left the app because it gets so tribal and unnecessarily dramatic when it should just be fun and light-hearted.

Tom's on stage rn, and all you guys worry about is the films he's not going to do like it has any effect on you. I see some fans who are annoyed that there aren't any casting rumours for Z like she wasn't dominating the culture at the beginning of 2024 with Dune 2 and Challengers.

As a fan of musicians, it's normal for your fav artist to have quiet moments in their career. I'm so happy Sade was big in the 80s cause if she started in this gen, ppl would've called her a flop due to her personal choice to go on hiatus between albums😭.

Heck, Frank Ocean has only made two albums, I don't count that apple thing he was doing😭.

What I'm trying to say don't care because the quality of music they have made outways the quantity for me to consume as a fan so that it doesn't matter. Also, it's fun to miss ppl.

THIS!!! Way too many people in fandoms these days either only watch their "faves", or watch films in silos and don't just view ALL film as just simply art. Even if they watch films of other actors from different fandoms, they watch them to simply criticize, look down upon, or find some kind of fault so that it doesn't somehow "take away" from their actor that they love. 🙄 Like, chill out!! It's much more fun to just be chill about all of this stuff.

And yes, I won't deny that some fandoms can be overly harsh towards our faves, and even put them down, or try to make us feel bad. But that doesn't mean that the ACTOR himself/herself feels this way, so why punish him/her just because of some immature nobodies in their fandom?? 🤔

Thank you!👏🏾 Anon...I've been preaching this and saying this on my blog for YEARS!! While I LOVE Tom and Zendaya, there are also a WIDE-range of various different other actors and films that I love too! 😃 When you just simply view films as just ART and don't view it as some type of competition all the time, you can just relax, and enjoy films from a VARIETY of actors, and appreciate them all for various reasons. Films are just supposed to be for enjoyment. Watching something of another actor or genre isn't going to make you a "bad fan" lol.

Say what you will about JE, but even HE denounced all of the silly comparisons btwn him and Austin and doesn't understand why fans turn art/acting into some type of "blood sport". I personally agree with him. It's so dumb!

choose three favourites of my work? oh, that is a difficult question.

one thing I really didn't like about my art when I was younger was that it was all very static. it was people sitting or standing, it was still life paintings. one of the things I'm really proud of in my work now is the sense of capturing a moment instead of someone posing, and/or giving a sense of movement

these two are just the opposite of static and I love them for that

and then there's this mug. the design is great, the details are great and I had so much fun carving it. it was honestly just delightful and I wish I'd kept it. I don't say that very often.

I'm putting the rest of this under a cut because I'm going to ramble

I started drawing because I was making silly comics about me and my friends in grade school and through high school (I assigned them all fursonas because I was a really cool 15 year old lol)

I got a little more serious about art in high school, but I never thought it'd be something I'd make money at.

when I was... in my early twenties? maybe 19 still? ah, memory issues, I went through a nine month art program, the 'Urban Canvas' project run by SCYAP (saskatoon community youth arts programming). the program is meant to support young artists, especially those with mental health or addiction issues. and it meant I got paid to draw and paint and create weird shit for 40 hours a week, for nine months. and then some (seven? eight?) years later I got to go through the program again which... honestly I'm so grateful I got to do that. (and SCYAP still supports me, they give me a table at their craft show every year and helped me with my first solo gallery show)

these are some of the pieces I made during my time at SCYAP:

and two very rare pictures of me, posing with two of my master studies. the left from when I was 20ish, and the right when I was... 27ish? (man I'm still proud of that Gentileschi copy)

it was after SCYAP when I started thinking that I could actually make money as an artist. so I painted more than a dozen murals, drew a 20-some page full colour comic, painted pet portraits, and sold my own paintings. commissions were more reliable than selling my own work for a long time lol

as for how I got into pottery, my mental health uh... haha. it took a nosedive about six years ago and during some of the worst of it, I was severely agoraphobic. my mom, who has always supported my art, offered to take me to pottery classes with her, in an attempt to get me leaving the house at least once a week. it did help (along with a lot of other things) and once I started exploring the surface decoration side of pottery, things really clicked for me

tangent: one of the things that really drove me to progress as an artist was having something driving my work. whether it was preparing for a gallery show or making a bunch of holiday cards or making piles of fan art because I was obsessed. every time I made something, anything, I improved. so when I had a goal that made me create more, I improved faster.

my unsolicited advice: make that weird fan art. it's good for your art. (I was really into tf2 lol)

I've tried tons of different mediums and I think it was a great way to help my style evolve.

when you're making art with a new medium, it might take awhile before you're making your own personal work. I, at least, find that I usually have to do some studies of other peoples' art and just try some basic creations before I do anything more personal. but once I'm ready to do MY stuff, I have a new repertoire to pull from. I wouldn't be the potter I am if I didn't have the experiences I got from other mediums

I'm sure pottery isn't the last medium I'm gonna try. I'll probably get obsessed with carving tiny wooden figurines or making wax sculptures at some point. who knows!

-He's quite scared actually not sure if it was seen that much in that art but he has a scar across his face from accident (technically an attempt of casp trying to take his soul) from when a wine bottle fell on his face.

-On the note of wine he actually had a bartending job while he was in college to help pay for his rent. He's had some other previous jobs before this one and here they are in order: flower shop cashier > cafe barista > bartender.

-Honestly the job i was gonna give him wasn't in the list of jobs (psychiatrist) but if i were to pick in the list it would be mortician i just think he would probably kinda enjoy it??? because if you think about it being a mortician is like those asmr tiktok games where you give a make over to a zombie or smth...

RIP Anne Rice.

I thought about sharing the impact she had on my life after seeing so many fans doing it...reading your stories felt so warm everyone...

I remember a few years ago I sent a message to Anne about how she changed my life. I am born with many disabilities and had a lot of trouble staying focus and learning in class, at 13 I haven’t read a single book on my own and I didn’t know if I ever could have a future, have friends, a lover, it was all a distant dream. I felt like no one could ever loved me, like I didn’t belong. Then I discovered the movie IWTV, then for the 1st time I was sooo into it that I decided to start a book. To start a book was huge to me at that time, it seemed to be an impossible task. But I was so involved in it that I did it, even tho my disabilities wouldn’t allow me too until now.  After that I was kinda able to read, to educate myself through her books (she would narrate X event or talk about X artist and out of curiosity I would check what it is about etc.).

She showed me many doors of possibilities, it was up to me to choose which one I wanted to open. Among them: the desire of non-conformity ; the lgbtq+ community (including polyamourous, acexuality) ; the worth of having friends being a family ; acceptation of itself  but also acceptation that there is some darkness/bad in us because we are human with flaws ; realizing that if we are alive, we are meant to be there/to belong somewhere.

She revealed through her characters that there is a monster in every human, and a human in every monster. That what society tells you is wrong...isn’t necessary and that’s up to you to reflect on it. She taught me all those during my life full of fear and doubt. 

Finally, she showed me everyone makes mistakes. Through her characters (yeah especially you Lestat!), but also herself. We must look how she changed since IWTV publication. She admitted she was wrong sueing people for fanfictions, she was supportive of trans people, she left christianity because of how they treated the LGBTQ+ community and how antifeminists were, she included more diversity in her books, a diversity not limited to sexuality but to ethnicity. On that matter, I personally, I think she wanted the afro-american cast especially to show people that there is nothing wrong with it, just like being gay, and that even if society tells you racialized people do not belong...they do, they always did. but that is another debate anyway.

My point is: she was human, with her flaws and qualities. And she inspired me to accept myself and becoming the better version of myself, because it is possible. It is possible for all of us.

I will forever remember that I met my best friend thanks to her, the funniest part is…he was actually following my blog (it was his fav one back then) but we only discovered this fact months later. It is an intimate story I will never get tired of, it felt like fate. We stayed friends for 10 years now…But Anne, she left.

Another small story: I work in a hospital and our boss is a 50 years woman and she is like very very strict. One day I saw her with a VC book in the arms, the last one (Prince Lestat). Immediately I stop her and I ask her about it. Which she answered all excited that she read all the VC and that she is a fan for yeaaarrss. She then told me her story, how Anne helped her forging her personality and the huge impact she had when she was younger. Until then I’ve only met fans from my generation so I kinda never wondered what impact she could have caused…to read, to love, and to discover yourself through her books in a much close-minded society.

Btw for those who didn’t know, Lestat was inspired by her husband, Claudia by her deceased daughter...and yeah...she was Louis.

Thank you so much Anne, in those dark teenage years and even later, your books saved me in many ways. May you rest in peace and be reunited with your husband and daughter.

Forward for sure, but if I had to pick a direction, LEFT. My god I can't draw people facing to the right for the life of me.

To be honest.. not a lot! In fact, I really can't think of any original ideas that came from when I was like. Younger than 17/18. I was super into content but didn't make anything original, or any real ocs even, until I was much older.

My ocs Weston and Ailani, who I love with all my heart, and have hair that is so very hard for me to draw. TBH JUST hair in general is difficult for me, especially if it's long.

Animation!!! I can't animate to save my life (unless it's stop-motion) but props to everyone who can bring characters to life that way. It's a medium I'm very passionate about even if I don't do it myself.

I'm a 5'0 Mexican-American, I speak Spanish (my native tongue), English (tho despite being an English Honors, I struggle with spelling and pronunciation from time to time), and sign ASL tho not completely fluently. Though, curiously, I naturally have more male hormones than female so I do look fairly masculine, I don't deal with periods, and I allow my facial hair to grow from time to time. I NEVER shave my legs, they're my pride lmao. I do have dyed curly hair, usually I let my friends pick the dye, but my fav color to have it is dark green. My style can be from goth to a pastel goth. To just straight up being dressed in Mickey Mouse merch (I have an obsession with the rat 💀) I do, do makeup though I see it more as an artistic thing. I don't try to make it look good I just have fun with it. Typically, eyeliner is what I mess with.

I have an older sibling and younger ones, I'm basically the middle child and have always taken care of all of them because I'm looked as the most responsible one, while also the most chaotic one. I'd say, personality wise I'm definitely a wildcard. It all depends on who I meet. I struggle with mental health so while I can be extremely energetic, fidgety, impulsive, forgetful, and bubbly bc of my ADHD, I'm also super aggressive because of my anger issues and Homicidal Ideation. And depression doesn't help either. I also have anxiety so, I'm not good at approaching ANYONE to the point I can't make eye contact. The most I can do is flash a glance at people's eyes before looking everywhere but them. But once you get to know me and I rlly like u as a person, you'll never get me to stfu especially if it's bc of a hyperfixation 💀 I also tend to dissociate a lot when I'm left alone/in silence for too long to the point when I snap back to reality, I sometimes don't even remember who I am or where I'm at for a minute. Which causes me to become panicked and anxious. Because of this, I can't go ANYWHERE without my headphones, whatever I may be doing or not doing, I have to be listening to SOMETHING at all times to keep myself grounded. Unless ppl r actively talking to me or letting me talk. I'm also a very curious and a naturally loud person, even when I'm speaking at what I assume is a normal level, I have ppl telling me to be quite 💀

However, I'd also say I'm very knowledgeable, determined, stubborn, a problem solver and a hard worker. I don't give up easily on myself nor others. I love and study Psychology and Sociology. And bc of my ADHD my hobbies are a wide range, from drawing, to reading, to sowing, to collecting specific items. I have a very hard time understanding others from an emotional stand point (in fact I can be very apathetic) but can very much understand them from a logical stand point. So while I'm not always the best at comforting, I'm great at giving advice/solutions. I'm not afraid to speak my mind and I'm also extremely honest/straight forward. However, I'm also very well known for appearing to not take things seriously bc I often joke/make witty comments as a defense mechanism to handle things/make it through tough times. And my biggest characteristic... I'm horny on main💀 However, I know when not to overstep people's boundaries. I myself have horrible experiences with that so I always make sure ppl are comfortable with whatever contact I make with them. I can be extremely affectionate depending on a person's love language! I just always want to make sure others feel cared for and comfortable around me since I know I can be overwhelming to people. Though, I like to care for others I don't very much like when others do the same for me. I'm very much someone that's used to taking care of everything and everyone so I absolutely refuse to ask for help unless it's a completely last resort.

I LOVE reading I've loved it ever since i was a toddler. I don't have a fav genre, as a kid i would read literally anything, from encyclopdias to kids books to classics to even this one big book about herbal medicine that i read for some reason? I don't even remember what was in it but it was rlly cool.

I have a system where my tbr list doubles as my book ranking list. My highest ranked books tend to be those that make me cry a Lot. So books like The Song Of Achilles, aaddtsotu, No 6, Circe, A Thousand Boy Kisses.

I'm a hoe for animation, and I don't watch live action movies/series alot. When i was younger it was disney pixar etc and now I watch anime. I still love disney pixar movies tho, and im always down to watch a classic like Mulan or newer movies like Luca or Encanto (three of my favourite films of all time btw). I prefer animation to live action because it has this sense of wonder and fantasy and excitement that you can't replicate with live action, and that's what i rlly enjoy abt it.

I loove music, i play the uke guitar and piano, tho I'm not Amazing at any of them. My fav artist is Taylor Swift. I don't support Celebrity Stan culture and I don't follow her life too intensely, i just find out stuff by filtration from my mutuals/friends lol. That being said, i think Taylor is so incredibly talented and her music never ever fails to make me feel a whole slew of emotions.

I also have adhd and it messes w my life in some ways, makes it more interesting in other ways. I Cannot hold a topic I go on multiple tangents, i have the short term memory capacity of a spoon, i cannot sit still and am always fidgeting , I'm hypersensitive to sudden sounds, but im also unable to function in total silence. School was weird cuz I'd never be able to pay attention in class or while studying normally but sometimes I'd hyperfixate on my studies for hours on end and so I'd do fairly well anyway.

I'm bisexual grayro! I'm aromantic in the sense that I don't feel romantic attraction, but i still wanna be in a romantic relationship someday (btw I am taking this event date as romantic not platonic). I'm also into boys girls and anything else, although i have a preference for guys.

I love being alone and left to do my own thing, but i hate feeling lonely or isolated. Which is smn my friends understand, so we don't talk a whole lot, but whenever we do it's so refreshing and the love between us is so palpable uk?

I watch documentaries in my free time! I especially love ones about history, which is one of my favourite subjects. I'm not TOO interested in war history, although its important and just as significant. I'm more interested in the development of society through the ages and the small quiet revolutions that made the world what we know today.

Aang: Aang says that he listens to a bit of everything, but he actually listens to a bit of everything. Name even the most obscure bands, chances are that he knows them. Does he also listen to really mainstream stuff? absolutely. He does a lot of running and while he's out he has a lot of time to listen to music. he knows it all. Doesn't have a favourite artist

Katara: she listens to a lot of rap, especially from the 90's, but she also cannot stand silence and doesn't want to listen to rap while she studies, so she also listens to a lot of lofi. This results in her spotify being 42,5% rappers rapping about guns and gangs and money and 42,5% being 'Chill Beats To Relax/Study/Sleep to'. The other 5% is from that time that she had a spotify premium free trial and sokka didn't. she let him use her account for a while. likes jpgmafia

Sokka definitely had a phase where he listened to alt rock from the 80s/90s and thought that there was no good music after '94, followed by a phase where he just followed the words of anthony fantano. he now lets himself enjoy more than one genre of music, even though his music is now mostly still punk from the 80's, but he doesn't hate mainstream musix as he did before. fav artist/band is probably germs. also death grips. also maybe misfits? it used to be the smiths but now he hates morissey or however u spell his name with a passion. he still likes their songs but would gladly murk morissey.

Suki: suki will listen to some of the most obscure shot that can barely even be classified as music. and i mean like actually obscure. a lot of it is just random noises with vague ambient music in the background. she isn't like a snob about it or anything and enjoys most of the music her friends play her and the go to playlist maker. to get to where her music taste is now, she's had to listen to a lot of genres and artists (she had a lana del ray is phase), so she might even know more than aang. she does have a couple of playlists that include music that of the overlapping music tastes of the gaang. she absolutely stans charlie xcx and wants to be like her

Toph: Toph will listen to anything to upset her parents. when she was younger her parents would mainly listen to classical music, so when she grew the independence to listen to her own music (ie get a phone) she started listening to a lot of hardcore/death metal. it didn't matter what the songs were, but the more satanic imagery on the album cover the better. except, she doesn't know which album has the most pentagrams or burnt churches on it, so it's usually just whatever her parents make the biggest fuss about. she does enjoy the music after a while, so it's not just to piss her parents off, even if that was the initial intention. her parents stopped bothering her about it after the first year/year and a half. but she was absolutely NOT allowed to wear band t-shirts because then that would embarrass the family. so that's exactly what she did. owns over 10 Korn shirts because she is still, a rich kid

Zuko/Mai: Goth. Again, mostly from the 80's. He mainly listens to more famous goth bands, like the cure, joy division, duo je and the banshees, bauhaus, depeche mode etc. he and mai listen to a lot of music together, and share headphones. they did this a lot when they were 'dating' but they're still doing it now. he likes some newer stuff too though. doesn't have a fav artist but his fav album is three imaginary boys. this really doesn't need more analysis.

Ty Lee: she likes Kpop. sometimes jpop. she listens to music while training, and a lot of Kpop songs help because they're dynamic and easy to follow and listen to. bts, nct, stray kidz, twice, red velvet, black pink etc.

Azula: ozai listened to stuff like frank sinatra and other songs from the 50s, but not 'birth of rocking roll' 50s, more like old conservative 'i-miss-the-fifties-when-women-would-dress-like-women-men-would-dress-like-men-also-literally-no-civil-rights-and-the-birth-of-late-stage-capitalism-yay' type of way. azula of course wants to impress her dad so she listens to what he listens to, because ozai is a narcissist and is only impressed by himself. after she gets a redemption arc however, and she unlearns all the shit he brainwashed her into believing, she analyses everything about their relationship, his political views, and how they affected her, after a lot of thinking instead of being on the right she switches to the (kind of far) left and now she predominantly listens to riot grrrl and joan jett, L7, the runaways, etc.

Hey! I'm the 2nd gen anon that sent you the ask the other day. I agree with what you said especially the thing about social media.

For the past few years, I've been wondering why I fell out of Kpop because at that time, Kpop was gaining more attraction. I think the first reason would be that many older groups were disbanding. Then, it would be the presence of social media (toxic fans are the loudest). Other than that, I couldn't get myself into the newer songs. I remember thinking that the reason for this was due to newer songs being too westernized. However, foreign producers have been making songs for Kpop artists for a while. Over time, I noticed that a lot of the newer songs (even non-Kpop songs) don't have full choruses. The songs are mostly focused on the beat and the title of the song is repeated in the chorus. I don't hate this type of music but I tend to get sick of it quickly. A lot of 3rd and 4th gen groups are coming out with this kind of music now which makes sense into why I couldn't get myself into them. Even when my favs, which are 2nd gen and early 3rd gen (I actually regard them as 2.5 gen because they had similar styles to 2nd gen) come out with songs that don't have full choruses, I rarely listen to it.

I know in my previous ask, I did say I stopped being a Kpop fan at one point but I did still listened to my favourite Kpop songs as well as trending songs. I don't think I can ever stop listening to Kpop or music in general. I guess you can say I just became a casual listener. I'll check kpop news from time to time but that's it. I couldn't keep up with the fandom.

I don't know if you ever felt this way before but I feel bad for not putting in time for my favs or ults(?). What I'm talking about is things like streaming and voting. Luckily, my favs don't really care because they've been in the industry for a while but I still feel guilty because streaming and voting is a form of supporting the artists you love.

Sorry for the long ask. It's just hard to find 2nd gen fans on Tumblr. Also, thanks for bringing awareness about mental health. Like you said, it's sad that such tragic events have to happen in order for us to bring light to an important topic. With this, I hope people will care for the mental health of others and themselves.

I definitely agree with a lot of what you said. And thank you for dropping in again! I personally don't like songs where the structure is "skimped on", e.g. not having a full chorus, or several lines of lyrics being just the same word or phrase repeated over and over. Although that said, "Sorry Sorry" and "Ring Ding Dong" are what got me into kpop and are the most iconic songs ever and you can't tell me otherwise lol.

For me personally, rediscovering Super Junior and SHINee after 7+ years of not keeping up and being a casual listener was like a shock to the system. With Super Junior it was like, hold up, you mean Kibum, Hangeng, Kangin AND Sungmin are not in SJ anymore?? And with SHINee it was like... how can we go on without Jjong?? And hold on, Taemin is now the biggest solo artist of all of them?? TVXQ was now only Yunho and Changmin and the rest had left?? It was so much to take in.

When I was coming back into kpop circa late 2017, besides BTS I wasn't that thrilled with what I arrived to as a 2nd gen fan to be honest. Monsta X and KARD were a breath of fresh air, as a proper very EDM focused and a mixed gender group, respectively. Musically though, aside from BTS it was VIXX I loved the most and they sit awkwardly in the time line, somewhere between 2nd gen and 3rd gen. They're usually considered 2.5 gen.

It was sad learning about everyone I knew from 2nd gen that was disbanding or not active (f(x), 2NE1, SHINee were just recovering from Jonghyun's passing at the time). But at the same time I was thrilled that so many were still going strong. I felt i could relate to them because I was getting into that later-twenties stage where I was worrying about getting older, but I was comforted knowing my 2nd gen idols were growing older with me, they were already a few years ahead of me and still rocking it.

You see, with feeling guilty about not streaming and voting, I didn't really experience that. When I was an early kpop fan it wasn't even possible to vote outside of Korea so I never felt like I had missed out on these opportunities or let my idols down. When i got into kpop again I did take advantage of the fact that I could stream, vote for MAMA and vote on some music shows. I never felt guilty though because I knew that the majority of these voting drives were for the younger fans, who didn't have full time jobs, families or that many responsibilities. So I always felt I was doing my best as a fan in moderation, without sacrificing all my time, money and sanity.

With 4th gen, I don't even bother with voting. Some people might say that makes me a shitty or lazy fan, but my ults are 2nd and 3rd gen, and I'm only one person. I know 3rd and 4th gen have loads and loads of young fans who do the streaming and voting better than I ever could. I just stream on comeback day and enjoy the music, and buy the occasional album. When I was a young fan I had no money at all, I couldn't buy any albums or go to any concerts. So I don't feel guilty because I can do more now as an older fan than I ever could before to support my idols. I save my voting rights for my 2nd gen faves who aren't as popular anymore, because I know it would mean much more to them to still win awards this late into their careers :)
