Sooo...what is Eli? Not sure if you've answered this anywhere else before...They're some kind of eldritch abomination right? Could you elaborate on that?

I wouldn’t go that far as calling him eldritch abomination idk why… that sounds too great of a title? their dad is one tho. I will point some of the characteristics of eldritch abominations and if Eli has those or not because i'm not sure myself, also i'm not an expert this is for fun and don’t have a lot of info about it so blehhh):

The problem with Eldritch abominations is that it’s difficult to visually depict them since it’s better when they lack form, when you look at it you lose fear, they become comprehensible in a visual way if it’s not moving or difficult to find a form that produces the fear of the unknown or possible threat). There is also the feeling of fear that comes with looking at those entities, it can have an explanation or just be triggered by the fact that the creature is breaking reality, but with Eli is just a little uncomfortable feeling in people, nothing maddening. Eli has a recognizable form even if it's changes a lot, so it loses that touch a little bit. I personally don't find her monster form that horrible, for me it's more on the cute side (-1 point for Eli booo tomato tomato tomat-)

Eli reshapes reality in:

Themselves, their own code with their physical form, but they do this without touching the code in a manual/direct way, their own willingness produces a change in it. Also their ability to disfigure, reshape or alter the body of others and change their code can be an example too.

The surroundings (against Eli's will), it gets affected because they are something that shouldn't exist or doesn’t belong in that reality (and that’s what they feel, it’s like a materialization of their thoughts in a sense; im not saying their mind has control over the surroundings, this is just a small fact). Things like terrestrial animals freezing just by being near them (this doesn’t affect humans since Eli is half human) or fish getting meters away from them (their dad comes from the sea so the creatures of that ‘realm’ know what to do, while animals of land kind of short circuit accepting their possible death). Eli also causes a small uncomfortable feeling in people, but that dissipates the more time they pass with them (ooo why ooo) so it doesn’t count (but this can be felt by other people that are ‘monsters’). 

So it would be accurate in that aspect (+1 point Eli woo)

Eli’s existence also goes against natural laws as we know them. I was thinking that their existence could be explained by science in a far away future, because the thought that no one is going to be able to understand them kind of makes me sad but that’s just my personal view on them. The laws that they broke are life and death definitions (like the undead category; zombies, vampires etc), i don’t feel like explaining this right now sorry, but you can make yourself an idea with what i have said before. They also break some gravitational and physical laws (chunks of flesh floating in the air or even getting dissolved into it) anddd this is too much im leaving it there my head hurtsds (+1porintn eyeyyu)9

Eli can be killed. Difficult but possible. You just need to be smart about it. You don’t need to go to great lengths or a great sacrifice to make it happen. Some eldritch abominations can be killed, but a lot of times it's not easy to do so and requires a lot, so even though it’s not a requirement, it’s kind of meh (-1 point because yes, fuck Eli, get her ass, whathe flip)

Existing outside of reality? their reality is the game universe, but bear with me for a second. If we count Eli as in the game universe, you can see if from two perspectives: them as in the character and concept inside the game OR as the entity playing the game.

There is Eli as the character concept inside the game universe, with their background and other characters. Everything normal and fictional from here.

Aside from that we have Eli’s existence that's supposed to be outside of the game, ‘the player’, someone or something real. This would be the ‘being beyond our reality’ (the reality of the other characters), something not perceptible to the code. Actually a side note: i had an idea before that was for Eli to shape or have an impact on the code of the game through veins and flesh, but I don't want that to be in the game universe… it's just a funny thought… I'm making you lose time

Since the game has two sides to it i wanted to explain that from Eli's perspective, but the first one is the canon for my oc, the other is just an silly idea. It’s nothing out of the ordinary since it goes along the game’s themes

omg i've had that exact sort of thing happen with me before too tho, not in quite the exact same sense of like, "wanting to take part in a community but struggling to get through the source material it's based on", but there are like, so many webtoons and manga and stories I've tried to read - after being urged to by pals and people who read them - that I've dropped after multiple attempts of trying to read them. And they're not necessarily dumpster fires like LO (though some of them definitely aren't great) it's more like I'm sitting there wondering "when's this gonna get good? when's this gonna be worth all the hype?" Tower of God is the biggest one that comes to mind, I have tried to read that webtoon on SEVERAL occasions and I just can't justify trudging through all those early episodes for it to maybe "get good". And that's not even me saying it's bad, it's just not interesting to me in the slightest. No hate to anyone who likes ToG, I think I've also sorta drifted away from shonen over the years so that's definitely not helping, but I just can't be bothered to try and read that webtoon anymore, I've given it so many attempts and I'm doing lmao Kudos to the creator though because it's a LOT of work to make a webtoon of that length and they should be proud of that.

Back on the topic of LO though, yeah, I was following the comic when that episode was still brand new and it really made us all go 🤨 because of how out-of-pocket it was. And then like an episode (or two?) later she bullied a former classmate of hers from 10 years ago at his job. That was the precedent for Persephone's character that was set for the third season of LO and it's just gotten worse as it's gone on.

Either way, if I'm being honest, you're really not missing much by skipping over the majority of S3 (like, if you made it to the dick appointment episode before giving up then you're already pretty close to the current point in the story). Like I'm not gonna lie, you could easily skip up to the midseason cutoff point because everything leading up to that is just a bunch of nothing. Hades and Persephone get married and it's the most underwhelming scene ever despite it being the moment people had been waiting years for, also they 'adopt' Dionysus but he's barely in the comic except for when Rachel remembers he's a character so you could also get by on minimal details. Oh yeah, and it turns out Demeter had a kid during the 10 year time skip who we see in like two episodes and then proceeds to get fridged forever.

So yeah, as much as I'd recommend people read LO as a sort of "entry ticket" into the crit community surrounding it, S3 is a lot of nothing and you would frankly not miss out on a thing if you skimmed it or skipped the middle portion of it entirely lmao

Hello anon 🖤 I'll start with a disclaimer: I’m just someone who shares fan art online, I am no expert or anything, but I’ll do my best to offer some useful references and share how I personally stay informed - I'll keep this list updated if I find interesting sources

I know that diving into topics like politics and history can feel overwhelming, but I promise it’s manageable if you ease into it with media and languages that feel comfortable to you. Of course, it’d be amazing to read and study every history book and testimony out there, but realistically it’s tough to find the time and energy to consistently do so - at any point in life. The best way to begin is to follow intersectional educators and historians on your socials to get small interesting informations little by little, and go check the sources they provide any time a topic sparks your interest.

Second disclaimer: I don’t know your background or where you’re from, and I think this makes the difference when figuring out where to start. I live in Italy, so many of my usual sources are Italian educators, historians, or social commentary pages that align with my own political and ideological views (se c'è qualche Italian*: il king Alessandro Barbero, Michela Murgia 💔, Claudia Fauzia, Tomaso Montanari, Diletta Bellotti, Cathy La Torre, Loredana Lipparini, @aestheticasovietica, @madonnafreeda...) but I started out just simply by browsing the internet, listening to some (wise) older people talk and perking up my ears in class.

My first tip would be to start local at first, and work outward. Look into the history of your town, community or area. What struggles and key issues have shaped it over time? If you have the means even directly ask people in your circles. We often hear about broad, all-encompassing issues that can feel unfathomable and far beyond our reach and control, but it’s important to remember that everything always starts within local communities, and only grows from there.

On the opposite side of this, my second tip would be to try and keep your sources as diverse as possible, and hear out people from all backgrounds. When events affect a specific community or minority, seek out creators and reporters directly from those groups and involved in said issues. Mainstream news is known to be very partial and biased more often than not - I personally tend to avoid it completely.

Yooo hey nonny, I totally understand and agree with you. I was referencing whenever people put black hairs on white sims, they all a sudden say the sim is "albino" in that phrasing as an excuse to have a white sim with that hair type. (And like, as far as I know, the sim doesn't even look like they have albinism, they just look white?) Heard this phrase so many times it's shameful. Probably should've used quotation marks or clarified that a lil more. Sorry for that, friend! I didn't even know the term "albino" alone was offensive in that way, I'll have to look into this more. Can I also ask, if you're willing to answer, what the proper phrasing would be? I'm gonna look it up myself either way but I am curious. Would it just be, as you referred to yourself, a person with albinism? I know it varies across communities- personally being ND, I know a lot of autistic people prefer not using "person with autism" as a phrasing for example, and person-first vs identity-first phrasing is a common debate. So I'm guessing it is similar among that community as well. Apologies again for hurting your feelings, I definitely know that sort of dehumanizing feeling and when I see that excuse for certain sims I imagine it must feel that way too. Like a tokenism so to speak.

It seems like, honestly, a lot of cc creators have one light skin black sim, one black sim with "albinism", and/or one black sim with vitiligo with the pattern making them mostly lighter skin in the face, for their cc previews. It's very odd to me. Like any excuse they can find not to have a sim with darker skin. It's a difficult topic bc on one hand it's great to have more representation for different types of sims but it just seems... weird... when there's never any darker skintones to go along with it? Ya know what I mean? And especially nowadays, I'm noticing that black sims and black hairstyles seem like... well... some kind of selling point? I remember in like 2018 and before, so many big (non-black) cc creators would not make black hairstyles at ALL, but now all of a sudden, a bunch of those creators that are now paywallers make them and put them under early access. It's like they know how limited they are and that people will pay for them. It's like we're once again a commodity. And it's weird bc back then it was all "we can't make black hairs, cos they're too hard!" but now that there's money involved it's apparently easy to slap a couple meshes together. Idk. ......I got way off topic I'm sorry 😂

If I never see another post from Franzeska aka olderthannetfic here it will be too soon. How dare she answer questions about racism and AO3 like she wasn’t one of the people who helped build it into the very structure of the site? I am quoting this directly from her post (emphasis mine):

they’ve been spouting yt apologia while fetishizing asian culture for years, this is nothing new. i’m pretty sure i’ve read franzeska saying the same things back when racefail ‘09 was going down. like most of this isn’t surprising bc it is exactly what we saw yt lj fandom peeps spouting in 2007-2010 and i’m personally not shocked that these people learned absolutely nothing. they don’t want to learn and being accountable for their actions. Franzeska goes deep into the history of AO3 to talk about why slash is represented heavily there... But in 16,000 words over 13 chapters, there is not one mention of Racefail ‘09. Not a single reference to the time a popular Harry Potter LJ community used a racial slur as a prompt in 2007. Nothing about the Supernatural RPF Big Bang story that used the 2010 Haiti earthquake as a backdrop for a J2 love story (THAT’S A REAL THING THAT HAPPENED). Nothing about the time in 2006 that comics BNF Te pointed out the marginalization black characters faced on two then-juggernauts of white m/m slash fandom, Angel and Smallville. This erasure of context and history is violent. Because many of the women of color who originally (and still) critique/d and resist/ed fandom’s normalized racism/misogynoir did so to their own detriment and with not insignificant risk to their personal well-being, safety, and privacy. Women of color were ‘outed’ by other fans for speaking out (doxed). They were attacked and silenced from all sides. They lost friends and community. They had to, with great vulnerability, cut themselves open and drag out their own private, internal experiences to air for all the (white) people who disbelieved them. They often found themselves speaking directly to a fucking wall of over-sensitive whiteness that would just as easily topple right on top of them. If anything in fandom is precious, it’s white feelings. And it always has been. (halfhardtorock)

In 2017 she was part of a Kickstarter to do a film about fangirls and fandom. I asked (you’ll need to hit “show comment” to see it) her to publicly comment about That Piece of Shit Meta, which she did. 

But before she did, Chelsea Woods, the co-creator of the project, emailed me about the comment. I don’t remember what exactly the email said, because it was a really long time ago, but she wanted to talk to me about the meta, perhaps to help formulate a response. Chelsea also reached out to somebody else outspoken about the issue at the time, and this is from a DM exchange I had with them:  

I understand why Chelsea reached out, as the head of the project and probably because she thought I would be more likely to respond instead of Franzeska. But tbh it feels like Franzeska's trying to get somebody else (a woman of color) to do the legwork for her. To the best of my knowledge I don't have F blocked on Twitter or Tumblr, and it's not like my email is hard to figure out.  I don't exactly relish the thought of talking to her, but as the one who fucked up, I feel like it is incumbent upon her to make the gesture...

I basically told Chelsea the same as you, that at this point there is very little she can do to demonstrate she understood what she did was fucked up, and that she has learned anything from the experience.

And when I tried to reblog her response, I found out Franzeska had blocked me, if that gives you any indication of how much she honestly wants to engage in discussion. 

Which brings me to now. I was literally today years old when I learned that Franzeska was head of the Abuse team for A While. (Bess says 2008-2012.) So suddenly a lot of things make sense, especially the lackluster (to put it politely) response about racist nonsense I’ve heard over the years, like in male hockey RPF. [edit: additional context in this post, ty Rukmini]

Certainly Franzeska is not responsible for everything racist about AO3, but she has definitely had a hand in shaping a culture that sacrifices the well-being and comfort of black users (among others) on the altar of “maximum inclusivity of content”. To turn the phrase back on them, who is “our own”? Why is it important to preserve an environment where a racially fetishistic fic that objectifies a black hockey player can stay up but a black fan basically has to go in like Viago checking for sunlight?

There is a balance between draconian content restrictions and letting racism, sexism, transphobia, etc run rampant on the site. I’m not saying it will be possible to find it immediately, or that it won’t change over time. But we have to try, if the AO3 is truly committed to making it a place that includes everybody, and not just the specific group of people who designed the site.

What is the ESS?

The Escaflowne Secret Santa (ESS for short) is a fan-created holiday gift exchange to promote friendship between those who enjoy Escaflowne and to create new works for the fandom.

Whatever you want! If you’re a writer, write! If you’re an artist, draw! If you like making animated images, animate away! Music videos, fan soundtracks, manips, whatever your talent is. Please make something for your recipient to enjoy; if they don’t like Dornkirk don’t draw or write something elaborate based on him. Quality and time spent are hard to quantify. No one expects you to spend years on it or break yourself over it. “Please spend more than five minutes and don’t gift a rush job,” goes without saying. Surely no one will give a rushed gift but so it’s been said. Don’t compare yourself to another gifter and feel bad; know that your gift will be loved by the recipient and the fandom for the care and time you put into it.

Can I gift something NSFW or state that I’m fine with receiving it?

Yes! There is a secondary swap for those who are alright with NSFW. If you’re not into NSFW no worries! Must I gift something NSFW if I’m in that group? This is alright and totally understandable. There is a week’s time in which you can post your gift so don’t feel rushed. No one will look down on you because life happened. You have to take care of yourself first. Being a little late is obviously undesirable but understandable. If you’re going to be late or sadly must duck out please let Rad know asap. There are back-up gifters in place for this reason.

Deadlines and time zones

I try very hard to ignore timezone s. I live in Michigan, USA, so when I say a date/deadline I’m referring to my time zone of Eastern Standard. However, I try to allow twenty-four hours to go by before no longer accepting sign-ups or calling deadlines. If it’s the stated date in your timezone, you’re on time. :)

Getting started learning Japanese.

Here’s some resources I’m using to learn Japanese and what I think they do well and not so well. This is all based on my own experiences and what works best for me.

I will be rating based on the following criteria: Cost, Is it easy to use?, How much does it cover?, Pros, Cons, Overall impression.

Tofugu

I’m replacing a previous recommendation with this one. Far superior. I’ll just get right to it.

Free. Easy to use.

Pros: articles on just about everything. Theres a podcast. And every month they post resources for learning japanese. I highly recommend this website for these posts alone.

Cons: some content you gotta pay for but as far as i know they don’t duck around with people’s trust. They are the creators of wanikani and they gotta make money somehow.

Overall: far more useful that the first website i had on here. Maybe I’ll add more details later, but I just wanted to update this one as quickly as possible.

Japanese from Zero (video series)

Cost: free

Easy to use: yes. Theres a nice playlist so all you have to do is sit and watch.

How much does it cover: You start out knowing absolutely no japanese and by the end of lessons you will know two writing systems. Basic sentence patterns and grammar. There is even a kanji series.

Pros: nothing is easier than sitting and watching videos to learn. You can play it anywhere at anytime. George has been teaching/speaking Japanese for years so he knows where students get stuck. He gives good explanations and examples on when to use new content and when not to use the new content.

Cons: because its a series, sometimes George refers to previous lessons or his book and you may be missing some context if you start in the middle or skip through some lessons.

Overall: The first lessons were painful to get through because It starts out with romanization and if you already know the writing systems, seeing the romaji on screen is like listening to nails on chalk. Not to mention I have a personal beef with numbers and counting as well as the common phrases like “おはよう”

But it is called Japanese from Zero and it is meant for someone who knows absolutely nothing about japanese so I can forgive the painful beggining lessons. Once I got past the introductory stuff the videos became more enjoyable.

Duolingo (app)

Cost: free

Easy to use: yes

How much does it cover: basic japanese sentence patterns, all three writing systems and a handful of new vocabulary.

Pros: teaches new words and sentence patterns and really drills them into your head. Gives you a few new words at a time so you can take the time to learn them without being distracted from all the other words you need to learn. You can go into the course as a Japanese person trying to learn English and really get the most out of Duolingo because the japanese version starts out with Kanji and even gives polite and casual sentence forms.

Cons: very repetitive. I don’t find fault with this but a coworker of mine found this to be very annoying and I can understand why. Duolingo says the lessons will get harder but instead its the same lesson except now you have to review it 10 times instead of 5. That’s not exactly hard, that’s just tedious. My biggest gripe with duolingo is that it doesn’t explain particles or why the kanji has different readings. In order to figure that out I had to go and do my own research which isn’t a big deal but if you’re only using duolingo by itself it makes it harder to understand why you keep getting things incorrect and subsequently how to fix it.

Overall: I will admit I am biased towards duolingo because I’ve used it for Spanish, French, Italian, and now Japanese. I was there from it’s early days when it was absolute shit and it has come a long way. I recognize the issues with Duolingo right now but I know that they are constantly updating. Painful as it may be to keep hearing 六時六分です it really is teaching you sentence patterns that you can use to make your own sentences. You just have to go out and do a little extra work yourself. It is, by far, the easiest to use and the method I use everyday.

TinyCards (app)

Cost: free

Easy to use: yes

How much does it cover: it covers a lot of vocabulary phrases and even sentences. You can probably get a lot mileage out of this one if used correctly and if you’re willing to put in the work

Pros: dozens of pre-made flashcards to choose from and the ability to make your own. Cards come in sets that you can unlock by finishing the first set similar to duolingo. A lot of other flashcard apps work in a similar way except they make you pay for the rest so I appreciate that this one is free of charge. Plus you can find flashcards specifically from the duolingo courses so you can study the vocabulary in isolation rather than in a sentence. Interactive flashcard system. So you don’t just flip cards and call it a day, occasionally you will have to write out the translation in the target language or pick from several choices.

Cons: the difficulty can be a little inconsistent. Sometimes you just flip a card and say I remember that one and other times you’ll have to translate a full sentence in Japanese. Even if you get the kanji right, you may get the answer incorrect because the card wants the hiragana and vice versa. And because there are so many card sets to choose from, not all of them are useful.

Overall: a sister app to duolingo it seems. Cards come from the community of learners and are not limited to japanese or languages. You can also learn about history, art and pretty much anything else. I appreciate the interactive aspect as most other apps don’t do this and the ones that do are muuuch more inconsistent than this one. I found similar interactive flashcard apps that would sometimes show Vietnamese translations instead of English translations. I’ve only recently been using this one but I pretty much gave up on using other similar apps bc they were very inconsistent. I haven’t used it very much though because I’ve discovered that I’m not a flashcard learner. If you learn best with flashcards then I would recommend it.

Tae Kim’s Guide to Japanese (website/pdf/app)

Cost: free

Easy to use: relatively. Just read the damn thing. I get it though. Reading is very tedious

What it covers: It really is a beginner to advanced beginner guide covering the same things as all the above. Basic grammar, writing systems and such. One thing that is very unique about Tae Kim’s guide however is that it also includes cultural notes such as explaining casual vs polite speech. Male vs female speech that a lot of the other resources don’t even touch on

Pros: A very good starting point that covers so so much. The website has an option to show/toggle translations. Additional cultural notes plus examples. Almost every“how to learn japanese” guide points to this website

Cons: one of the reasons I was holding out on making this list was because I haven’t finished going through all the resources so I don’t have any cons for this yet. I’m only part-way through and I’ve yet to have any issues with it. Maybe just that once it gets the point across it immediately moves on. You don’t really have time to digest the content so It’s like a very in-depth crash course in japanese. You may need to go out and do extra research in order to really understand the content. If you don’t understand what is being taught, just read over it again and keep it in mind. I’ve found that I’ll come across more examples as I continue my studies and it all starts to fall into place

Overall: It doesn’t sugarcoat Japanese or treat the learner like a baby. If you read the introductory page, you’ll know what I’m talking about. Definitely influenced my approach to learning despite not having gone through all of it. Like other resources, it builds on top of topics already covered but it’s nice having a book-format with conjugation charts and lessons separated by chapters. Videos and podcasts are nice but Tae Kim’s guide also acts as a manual to supplement your learning. Maybe you want to write a sentence in the masu-form and need a quick reminder? Just flip to the page in the guide. No skipping through videos trying to find the part you need because it’s already there.

Manga Sensei (podcast/website)

Cost: mostly free. I believe theres some extra stuff you can purchase. I’ve seen a special podcast that requires payment and comes along with a free pdf. But for the most part, you get a lot of free content.

Easy to use: relatively. Havent been on the website much so for all i know it could be a mess

What it covers: the podcast covers a lot of grammar points and occasional vocabulary and cultural notes. Gives you a good foundation to build on top of. The website has more details on what the podcasts are about but I haven’t spent much time on the website as I have the podcast.

Pros: grammar points in 5 minutes or less. Differences between common words. Good for improving listening skills. If you’re driving or on a bus, you can learn on the go.

Cons: so much to choose from you kinda have to sift through what you need. Most of it is useful and there are a couple of repeat lessons as Manga-Sensei has a beginner’s guide every year. Because its audio only, you may be learning new words and grammar but you may not be able to identify them as quickly on paper. Best to supplement with some type of visual. I believe the website has something to solve this and I’ve heard there is a youtube channel as well? Although I am not sure.

Overall: If you’re going on a long car ride, folding your laundry or even just working-out, this is a great way to stay on top of your studies. Manga-Sensei has talked a lot about his projects such as his manga, alternate podcasts, and pdf. Even though I haven’t taken a look at all of them, it’s clear he’s working hard to bring content for listening, reading, and conversation skills. That being said, the podcast is just as good for learning as any other method. You can still understand the lessons (which are meant to be short and simple anyway)

Japanese Ammo with Misa (Video Series)

Easy to use: yep

How much does it cover: A Lot. From basic videos about grammar to more complex videos breaking down japanese songs as well common phrases and little notes that you may not find in a textbook

Pros: Her lessons have a lot of examples and good breakdowns of the grammar and tense. If a verb is in the past-negative tense, she will break down how to get to that point from the plain form or dictionary form. The best part about her videos is that she has her examples on-screen and color-coded. It may seem like a lot at first, but once you adjust to it, it helps to retain the information.

Cons: Because there’s so much content packed into her lessons, I recommend getting a basic knowledge of Japanese first. She has a video series for basic/introductory Japanese. I would suggest starting with that series or George’s series, or Tae Kim’s guide. Just so you don’t get an information overload.

Overall: There is one video in particular that I recommend to watch and I’ll make another post about it, but I really enjoy her content. Even though some of her videos are very dense with information, the comments suggest that its still easy to follow. I just think that while you can still learn a lot as a newbie, you might retain more if you already understand some grammar.

Japanese (app)

Cost: free holy shit!!

Easy to use: relatively

Pros: search using english, japanese, radicals, or drawing the kanji itself. Flashcard system, where you can build your own decks or use a pre-made one. The flashcards operate on a spaced repetition system. Plus it provides example sentences, compound breakdowns, stroke order, conjugations and JLPT level.

Cons: The drawing search method is sometimes hit or miss but i’m impressed the app has this option at all, let alone that it does not crash the app (like some others I’ve tried). The pre-made decks can have up to 400 words or more which is great if you have that kind of patience but I rarely find myself excited to sift through all of those words only to have about 10 of them be useful to me.

Overall: Okay it’s not like this app is super amazing or revolutionary but it’s a dictionary and flashcard sytem all in one. Say you want to keep a record of the new words you learn to refer back to them later? Make a new deck! Or if you’re reading a book or newspaper and come across a word you don’t know? Add it to the list or make a new deck! I try use new words as often as possible to drill them into my head And although my studying has slowed a bit, this app is perfect to double-check spelling and usage. (At least until jisho.org gets an app). Plus it’s easier to learn and remember words when you’ve come across them on your own.

Weeeeeelllllllllll– Rogue faceclaims is actually a sore spot for me since my own hunt was a NIGHTMARE and I’m still not 100000000% happy with my final choice because I’m so anal about being as close as possible and the fact my current fc is blonde with brown eyes sends me up a wall if I think about it too long. But I also had exhausted my resources and myself and she’s the closest to what I was thinking of sooooo. (My current fc is Car.lson Yo.ung btw)

I’ll start with saying that no Zoey is not. She’s fairly close but she’s not quite in the family of face type I look at for Rogue. It’s SUPER DIFFICULT to decipher looks of comic characters sometimes because soooooo many different artist draw them and the variations in shit like face shape and profile can be staggering, like to the point if they weren’t in their costume you wouldn’t know it was them. You have to find the common denominators and then also take personality and like, vibes and what kinda face speaks to that. It’s a BITCH.

Personally when I look at things for Rogue in terms of look and personality I tend to look at the 80s as it’s the era where her character and essence is the clearest since it’s when she was made and she was written exclusively by her creator.  I also look at X-Treme X-Men for that same reason.  I do this because with like, literally every character and especially women over time their looks get softened and beautified to make them more visually/sexually appealing at the expensive of their uniqueness and individuality. Even in this at lot of those 80s ones are very kind to her as they’re from after she turns good. It’s a complicated time to look at for visual reference on her though since some artists genuinely didn’t get the memo she was 17 for a bit there.

  Overall her face has been like fairly consistently drawn as very square sometimes even small. Her nose is small, a bit broad and kinda buttony. Her mouth is kinda wide and poutier over time ( I mean, she’s a girl in comics so… ). Her eyes seem more on the large and downturned side. Along with this it’s important to remember she’s a reformed rock loving gearhead brawler from extremely rural Mississippi. If Rogue’s nose hasn’t been broken at least once I’d be amazed and she’s overall gonna have a very endy, rough look. The modern comics have really stripped away a lot of her visual personality and also just u know, her non-Basic White Lady shit. Rogue is VERY proud of being blue collar and loves the alt scene and is you know...a biker and shit. The bitch listens to metal while showering...... let her wear a studded collar again Marbel :/

To me women with face’s in the same rough shape family as Car.lson Yo.ung, Li.ily Ja.mes and Anna Paq.uin work the best like on a purely capturing something close 2 what I can decipher of her drawn facial proportions and people like Carlson and Anna I especially like because they’re very clearly gorgeous but Carlson’s face can come off as REALLY harsh/mean or like super soft and feminine just depending on the fucking angle which is like the Rogue Vibe, and Anna’s got the gap teeth along with the rest which is also a really big Rogue Vibe for me. But I also have problems with all of them so like, they’re certainly not perfect. My ideal fc for Rogue would be someone who’s got that face shape, has a more biker/grunge/messy bitch aesthetic, brown hair and light eyes (ideally green), is pretty but also got a lil something like gap teeth or resting bitch face or a broken nose and tattoos since we’re going for the holy grail.

i’ve been keeping a close eye on the subreddit since fnaf world’s mobile release (since they seem to get news quicker than we do) and i found this reply from scott from two days ago (a day after fnaf world was quickly pulled off).and it kinda… made me really upset? like it made me really sad and as someone who has been in the fnaf fandom since a week or two after it came out i just wanted to kinda give my two cents on what’s been happening. stuck under a readmore bc i’m a wordy ghoul that that rambles a lot. there’s a tl;dr though

scott said on the steam post that he wanted to make a mobile port for the people who had been asking for one. that’s really sweet!! especially because that was something he hadn’t originally had time for that he made space for to give to the fans who wanted it. that was time he could’ve been spending doing something he had wanted to do, like spend time with his family, i’m sure. but he made the port and bc it was riddled with glitches (which fnaf world was anyway), people complained. they complained about the humor too, which i personally thought was hilarious? the fnaf series in general is preeeeetty sad, revolving around a chain of murders at a children’s pizzeria and all (plus the now-inclusion of a really broken family), so i feel like any sort of humor we can get is always fun to play around with. in fact, i made a post on my main years ago when fnaf world was first revealed to be in production that it was refreshing to have something so lighthearted to do with such damaged, hurt characters–it was like a breath of fresh air and a breakaway from the chaos of canon. but i guess the majority of people decided that scott wasn’t allowed to joke around with us about how poorly received fnaf world was and complained about that too. with all the negative backlash over it, he got nervous and upset and pulled it from the play store entirely, which i feel should’ve never happened. (i’m referring to the fact that he feels terrible; i would react the same way, i take harsh criticism pretty rough too haha)

whether or not it would be true (when really, everything is a matter of opinion), nobody should be made to feel like that if something they made wasn’t all that great–especially someone like scott, who constantly jumps through hoops to make sure we’re happy and always getting some sort of content. i myself always enjoyed the rpg. i loved it! that’s just my opinion though, and unfortunately, it’s not a popular one :( riddled with glitches or not, he spent hard work on it (that wound up being non-profit anyway; for those who may not have been around at the time, fnaf world was teased to be a 3d game. when it was released, it was 2d and was also full of more glitches than it has now (which really? isn’t that many). people complained and he apologized and pulled it from steam, fixed it up to the way the fandom wanted it, and rereleased it for free, refunding anyone who had bought a copy). the fact that he’s being made to feel bad because people are jumping at his throat for trying to make us happy just makes me so upset. remember that post from last november where he said he takes it personally every time someone calls the fandom toxic, cancer, etc. and defended us? seeing people beat him down like this makes me wonder if he would ever reconsider being so protective of the fanbase.

scott is such a nice guy; he doesn’t deserve any of this. it’s a crying shame that the number of people nagging him over the mobile release buries the people who are actually supportive of his decisions (which there’s plenty of!! most of tumblr that i’ve seen has supported his decision to pull it. i’m just saying we’re seemingly outnumbered as all). people complained when he didn’t release a mobile version of fnaf world, so he did; people complained that he made a mobile version for some reason, so he took it off; people are complaining about that now. now i myself am not complaining about either decision through this wall of text–the purpose of this post is to kinda voice how disappointed i am with the people who are making scott feel terrible for doing what he thought was best. i’ll support scott in any sort of decision he makes and i know a great deal of other people will too. for a guy so kind and caring and selfless, a whole lot of people are making him feel like he’s doing the wrong thing, and that shouldn’t be happening at all.

tl;dr: scott is the most selfless content creator i have ever seen in my life, and the fact that people are attacking him for making what he felt was the best decision and in turn making him feel terrible and upset shouldn’t be happening. he defends the fandom constantly, and a big chunk of it seems to have unneccesarily turned on him at the moment
