Hey I am really inspired by your art and was wondering about the stars that feature in your work. Thanks!

oooooo! hi anon thank you so much for the ask and thank you SO much for enjoying my work!!!!! and yeah haha i do certainly draw a lot of stars don’t i….. i didn’t rly use them a ton before i started bob which is wild bc it seems like ive been drawing them forever?

so i feel like… the stars all kind of have their own meaning? i like them as a harsh graphic element of a piece that contrasts w the detailed/more organic shapes of linework and the human figure and folds in cloth. so sometimes they’re there to make the piece more visually compelling, which is why they r often a rly bright color or white. it contrasts nicely w the typical beiges of the uniforms i draw too. other times there’s story there. the star can be a gunshot, the star can be an explosion; it can be a signifier of violence or life. or both. it can be an overwhelming, painful emotion that physically stabs through you or just the glint of light off the barrel of a gun. it could be there bc they are fun to draw :3c i like putting them in with the war stuff too… death and gore and violence and agony and trauma and also a little star. a little hope or a little hopelessness

and at the risk of sounding self important, it’s fun that it’s become kind of a signature of my work… ive seen a lot of comments from ppl online basically being like “there’s the stars again” which makes me laugh a little. neat that it’s recognizable enough. neat that people enjoy it! neat that people see it and want to ask my thoughts on it! thank you!!!!!!

once leon's got his hands free, he insists on helping chris get the other locks with the ridiculously dense bundle of keys on a keychain.

they're both huffing and spitting at each other, in the name of love of course. but with time running out, both of their lives on the line if they can't get him free...

and there's just one more lock. a single chain leashing leon to the wall.

a few curses, a punch into the brick wall with some bloody knuckles to cradle the useless keyring...

This came to me as a random idea. I may make more of this. [Unfiltered version + ramble under the cut!]

So! kind of Beauty and the Beast/Don Bluth inspired. thought about a type I like (village beauty and unloved monster) and decided to apply it to these two. Liberties have been taken to put them in a more cartoonish style. In universe, I think this would be a silly production and no more. no actual beasts involved.

The scene depicted here is actually AZ rescuing him! rather than kidnapping him.
