TADC Freakshow AUs fanart from me

so I discovered two very cool TADC AUs both of them being freakshow theamed. the first one I discovered was @hootbon 's AU I love how detailed the designs are for each character. I decided to try my hand at drawing Caine from your AU.

the second one is a TADC Freakshow AU I discovered only recently and that is @kookydoodleky 's The Amazing FreakShow Circus. I like this AU since it has each of the circus members as a different mythological creature. my fav being Kinger since he is a dragon in this AU. I also did a drawing chibi of Pomni from your AU.

curious on your thoughts abt master of basterds in general; imo i cant wait to see more of whatever the story has in store w/ him i'm intrigued (true of all the foretellers/new saga but anyway)

i have thought a LOT about the master of bastards (lmao) but unfortunately, necessarily, most of it is speculative. we know so little about him that any number of theories could be true given any number of imaginary other scenes in games that havent come out yet! (also a lot of the speculation is very much shaped by my fic, so it's stuff that'd be really effective there but doesn't have much textual support currently)

i honestly really love watching every scene he's in—not only because he's a lot of fun, his VA does a great job and his animations are all really expressive, but because IMO he's really well-written. he's...shockingly very grounded as a manipulator character, compared to like, Master Xehanort in Birth by Sleep (though tbc his scenes with terra were some of my favorites in the game!)

i think a lot about this scene in particular from Back Cover. the little bit at the beginning where he has what seems like a moment of affection with invi, right before he smacks her on the shoulder. it doesnt seem like it hurts her, but it's at least shocking and disconcerting—and though it might be a stretch to say this canonizes him being physically abusive to his students, i don't think it's a stretch to theorize that based on this interaction alone!

also, him keeping a laid back attitude with her while he gives her a task she seems clearly apprehensive about, sidestepping and minimizing her concerns, then doing the whole "oh you hate me you want me to leave—just kidding tee hee" routine that i think many people who have known toxic, manipulative people will be familiar with. he forces her to appease him, then ducks out of the responsibility for it. he maintains complete control of the tone and direction of the conversation and won't let invi rest for a second.

i have seen multiple people say that they had trouble watching, or couldn't watch, Back Cover because the MoM's behavior skeezed them out so much. i think that's a testament to his writing! they really pack a lot of slimy, awful, manipulative behavior into every scene he occupies. even then he's still likable, in my opinion, because he's still so damn fun to watch.

Back Cover is an excellent example of that Authority Figures Failing Those Under Their Authority theme i love mentioning so much—the way the MoM fails the foretellers directly results in the keyblade war. he foments an atmosphere of paranoia and distrust, an inability for them to rely on one another, an inability for them to act wthout his guidance, and this explodes into the keyblade war when they allow all of this to motivate them to send their students to their deaths.

clearly i dont think the MoM's treatment of them excuses their actions. i just love parallels and cycles and theames etc.

Ossan no Pantsu ga Nan Datte Ii Janai ka! - Ep 1-10

This series is gold.

after the first episode, I didn't give any favors to Makoto, because for me there is no excuse for being a dick due to "being old" or "it was like that in the past and that's how I was raised". And what surprised me about the series - is that Makoto says it HIMSELF in next episodes! That you have to try to be better, that you have to educate yourself, that you have to update yourself! And he does it, he even buys the books lol 10/10 for that alone ❤️

each character has its own story, INCLUDING MOM - the most frequently ignored character type in TV series

each character solves their problems partly on their own, partly with the help of others. No one is led by the hand like a child, but no one struggles with problems alone. At the same time, there is respect for the characters' intelligence combined with the fact that it is not wrong to ask for help

characters develop and mature logically, at their own pace, not everything always goes according to plan

they apologize. When Makoto messes up, he never makes it about himself and doesn't back down from his update, and I expected him to give up or get discouraged at least several times.

I like the naturalness of this series, the fact that these people look ordinary and live in ordinary houses (the kitchen in the Okita house is so homely with the furniture, each from a different set, lots of things piling up, stuff everywhere ^^)

Makoto doesn't become perfect overnight, he still struggles. when he thinks he's ok now, he does something stupid (not out of malice, but ignorance), it's so real when peple hurt someone close to them unintentionally

this older employee also admits that he cannot find his way in the modern world and is a walking wallet for his children

LGBT stories are difficult and sometimes heavy, but treated with compassion and sensitivity

the series shows boys who like feminine things, fujoshi, or kpop fans without infantilizing them or making theam a joke, it also shows why they like such things

the series has the right dose of slice of life, humor, but also emotions, often deep and difficult

the series also clearly shows that being a parent is, on the one hand, difficult, but on the other… quite easy and is measured by your child's smile :) When Makoto thinks he's doing the right thing and is protecting his family, that he is a proper, by the book parent, (but he really focuses on what HE thinks is best and maintaining the IMAGE of a perfect family), his children don't like him, they withdraw into themselves and literally lock themselves in their rooms. When he focuses on them, on their needs, when he accepts them, opens up to them without prejudice, when he does not care about appearances and external family image, his children smile at him, leave the solitary room to the common space, spend time with him, they achieve their little successes. This is clearly visible in two scenes: when Makoto goes to the festival with his son dressed in a girl's kimono, they are at ease, talking, Kakeru is smiling. The second scene is when we watch Daichi's father kill the smile on Kakeru's face with every seemingly nice word.

the series clearly shows that the role of a parent is to uplift their children, giving them capital for the future in the form of strength and self-confidence given by the parents' unconditional support. That molding children in your own way and insisting that it is only about the child's good WITHOUT ACCEPTING THEM as they are, mentally and often physically, locks them and their potential in their childhood's room.

I absolutely love the final scene from episode 10, when Daichi "wakes up" from his confusion and discouragement, seeing how his father treats another boy, which outrages him (and as his son, he didn't see that he treated him the same way, he was blind to see it, which is so, SO REAL), Kakeru giving in to these words because he doesn't want to be a burden to anyone, and Makoto going furious that someone dared to kill the smile on his child's face that he fought so hard for ❤️

Soooo . . . I just watched the new Game Theory Video and according to Matts theory, Sun, Moon and Eclipse are old. Like old old, older than the main four and the first Freddys, just as old as the Mimic, aka ancient.

They might also be the reason why Circus Baby Pizza world and it's clown theam came to be. They were the inspiration.

There is a lot of evidence for this theory and it's very likely.

I just dont know how to feel about the fact that the DCA has been around since the 80's.

It would explain why they're so different from all the other animatronics in the franchise and it explains the similarities they have with the Mimic. They were build at the same time.

I've have made this point many times no one on the Thunderbolts are truly, and really looking at it the whole situation for then is truly tragic. Everyone there except for Ava become a "villain" because of a government that used them and barley saw them as human beings and now they are going to continue to be used by a government that views them as disposable.

Like, the thing about the Suicide Squad is while maybe unfair circumstances lead to villainy, the bad guys their did ultimately steal, kill or do some act of harm for their own self interests. The Thunderbolts on the other hand, half of them where brainwashed with no free will. And in the case of Ava Starr/Ghost her motivation was I don't want to be in constant pain anymore, and she was stopped before she truly crossed the line.

The worst one there is probably Alexi considering the things he was complicit in, but at the end of the day he was just a tool for his government. The true villainly comes from them, Alexi is kind of just a stooge.

Even John Walker who did a heinous thing, it was done in the ments of a mental breakdown and it's still sad that he'll be tossed aside by the government when he makes them look bad, but they will still use him to their dirty work.

The Thunderbolts entire premise is abused exploited people being further exploited because any other option has been taken from them

Made my roomate a homemade fuggler

She's been wanting one but the Walmart in my area stopped selling them in store for some reason.

She likes aliens so I tried to make a alien theamed fuggler, I didn't trust myself with the fake teeth so it will unfortunately remain toothless.

It has a big floppy head and super soft fur and really only took me a day to make with a rough pattern I made as well, super happy with how it turned out either way.

much of christian theology and philosophy, especially/including early-to-medieval christian theology (which is where the seven deadly sins comes from), is greek philosophy with a different hat on. (<-dramatic oversimplification but if it weren't we'd be here all day.) the specific idea im gonna talk about right now is Plato's theory of the structure of the soul*¹:

Logos (Greek logistikon)—your logic, reason, intellect. the "highest" and "most advanced" part that "rules over" the others. located in the head.

Thymos (Greek thumoeides)—your emotions, passions, spirit. located in the chest. could also be called the "heart".

Eros (Greek epithumetikon)—your gut carnal basal desires and needs. hungry sleepy horny itchy in pain. located in the belly.

when we studied this in my philosophy classes [boo hiss of course you were a philosophy minor in college] we usually called them the Head, Chest, and Belly, and i'll be calling them that here, which is why i bolded those words.

the seven deadly sins*² have at times been categorized by these parts of the soul.

the Head contains pride and envy (both are centered around your rational ideas of yourself and others)

the Chest contains wrath and sloth (sloth has kind of an interesting history as a Deadly Sin, short version is there have been times when it's more closely linked to depression than laziness which is why it's here)

the Belly contains greed, lust, and gluttony.

so, the Belly is where all of the hedonism is, all the indulgence for earthly passions. "lust for power" in my mind connects more strongly to pride, which, i guess you could Themes that with Luxu being the MoM's "mini me" in some ways, but if luxu's Themes ended up being closer to "lust for life" that would feel more true to me. i just think it's really interesting that they named such an important character lust and i'd be disappointed if they went with a rhetorical cop-out with "oh he inspires lust for power" etc. and avoided the "base, carnal desires" angle entirely!

DISCLAIMER: all of this is an objective factual description of what i have learned about these ideas. i don't think it's True, i don't think you should go acting on it, im not making any kind of moral point about it. like you neeed to understand the greeks (and christians) were capable of getting SO racist and misogynist about this. i just like thinking about Theams and Motifs and Symbolisms.
