Moonlight Chicken left me with such a warm feeling. It was so nice to see Jim smiling as we approached the end of this show.

It’s a show about life, healing, and a simple chicken rice dish with its 4 ingredients. And how those three things can be the same in a certain sense.

In one way, life is simple. We’re born, we figure out a way to live, and then we die. We start our lives with a set situation that we don’t get to choose: our family, our socioeconomic position, etc. It’s up to us to figure out what to do with what we’re given, to decide how to make the most of our situation. There is no perfect recipe for happiness and success. We make mistakes sometimes, get stuck once in a while, and are overwhelmed by exhaustion at times.

So what are we supposed to do? Keep calm and eat chicken (according to the shirt Wen gave Jim). We figure out what we can do, what we want to do. If we’re lucky we find someone who will stick next to us while we weather the storms of life. When we’re unlucky we lose that person. It’s heart breaking, but it doesn’t necessarily break us. As many times as we get stuck and fall into hopelessness, there are just as many ways to rekindle our dead dreams. Just like how Wen finds a new love by getting drunk at a diner after struggling with a dying relationship. Just like how Heart is able to eventually leave his house after blaming a broken alcohol bottle on a random food delivery boy. Sometimes an event that feels so mundane and insignificant in the moment can end up changing your life.

We make choices where we can and do the best with what we have. In this way, we define our lives. We define what happiness means to us. We get to choose what sort of chicken rice we want to eat. And everyone has the freedom to explore and choose what they like, even if it differs from what society labels as “normal”.

i thought my laptop was on its last leg because it was running at six billion degrees and using 100% disk space* at all times and then i turned off shadows and some other windows effects and it was immediately cured. i just did the same to my roommate's computer and its performance issues were also immediately cured. okay. i guess.

so i guess if you have creaky freezy windows 10/11 try searching "advanced system settings", go to performance settings, and uncheck "show shadows under windows" and anything else you don't want. hope that helps someone else.

I could think of no better way to share the news than this!

So when I was 17, my cat went missing and I'd given up hope of ever seeing him again.

Until on Monday, 27th of May, 2024, my friend sent me a FB post asking 'isn't that your mother?' about the person named on the microchip.

Here he is! 16 years old, and found safe, twelve whole years after he went missing!

Yesterday (Tuesday the 28th of May, 2024) I went to the rescue that had him, and I reclaimed my boy, renaming him Artie! (He'd originally been called 'Cat' because my mother and I couldn't decide on a name)

He's home safe with me now, currently inhabiting my bathroom and purring up a storm every time someone goes in there!

I'll be doing slow introductions between him and my current cat to give them the best possible chance of living in harmony!
