Genshin things that I will ignore in canon:
Diluc and Kaeya exchanging letters to each other during his 3-4 year revenge quest
Kid Kaeya was a perfect angel who never did anything wrong
Adult Kaeya is a perfect angel who never did anything wrong
(Let the man be morally dubious that’s when he’s most interesting. Plus his recent characterization is inconsistent with his earlier one and his bio lore)
Yae Miko tormenting every single Inazuma guy character (her silly rivalry with Itto can stay it’s funny)
60% of the Venti alcohol jokes (they aren’t funny most of the time. The only time it’s funny is times like when Beidou wouldn’t let Venti and Kazuha drink despite them both being of legal drinking age)
Paimon being the travelers voice (I’m in the minority where I like Paimon as I feel she’s the travelers annoying little sister and with that in mind she’s written rather well but I do agree with everyone who’s annoyed with how she speaks for the traveler. While I’ve never published any fanfics in a lot of my ideas Paimon ends up getting a bit shafted due to me not really knowing what to do with her because outside of being the travelers voice she doesn’t do all that much.)
Most of the Inazuma main story (if I want to I can be willfully ignorant and enjoy the story but after reading gold-rhine’s Inazuma re-write I can never go back)
The traveler being a jerk to Furina at the beginning of her story quest. (In character for Paimon but the traveler I think would at least be a little more understanding and would try to get Paimon to stop guilt tripping her)
Finally, the traveler fails to get Charlotte any scoops from the fortress of meropide. (I know why but they did waste a bunch of her money and that feels mean)
#genshin impact#extra: 90% of fandom jokes#the aren’t funny and most end up as wild mischaracterozations#tbh most of what I’m annoyed with in Genshin either has to do with gameplay or fandom#I’m pretty good at enjoying stories regardless of quality#one of my favorite games is Fire Emblem Fates#a lot of my Kaeya beef comes from Diluc being my first fave#I read a bunch of good fics that treat the whole thing with nuance and how neither of them were in the right and they both screwed up#and now like 90% is all about Kaeya#or shipping#I’m neutral to most ships#I got Stockholm syndromed into like Neuvilette x Wriothesley#I have at one point activly seeked out Childe x Zhongli#I’m fine with a bunch of popular ones (JeanLisa Eulamber etc)#but so much of Genshin fandom is shipping and because of that it’s so hard to find fics of characters I like without it#that’s why I got stockholmed into liking Neuvilette x Wriothesley#because so many interesting fic premises had it in there it was like or be unable to read those fics#plus I like aro/ace Diluc and I actively headcanon a lot of characters to be somewhere on the aro and or ace spectrum#this is less of a thing I’m ignoring and more of a this makes no sense thing but#in the long ass multi update fontain side quest there is a girl who grew up in the fortress of meropide#and it seems ooc for Wriothesley not either have not noticed her existence or to have done nothing about it#but I can’t ignore it because the quest wouldn’t make sense without her#so for me he knows and is trying to do something about it but can’t get her out for whatever reason#idk something about her not existing on Fontaines people records of something#the least he could do is ask some of the guards to look after her and keep her safe and happy#that’s my explanation

So, last night I was thinking about FF14 and Skyrim again.
Specifically, my feelings of "I played this game all day - do I feel like I actually did anything today, or not".
If I manage to play Skyrim for basically a full day (instead of some random burst of an hour), I usually feel like I've "advanced the story" of that character, gotten better gear, established the character's personality a little bit (doing X instead of Y, prioritizing this quest over that, commentary through regular gameplay, etc).
So I don't necessarily feel like I "did a lot of things today", but it does feel like there's an "accomplished" feeling, kind of.
If I play FF14 a full day, I feel like-... It feels a bit as if I've watched a really long movie (especially if I played MSQ)? It's a sometimes-good movie, so I don't necessarily regret it, but... that's it. Between the queues for dungeon-diving and travel-time, a lot of the gameplay really amounts to "watch a cutscene".
So, I learn new stuff about FF14-lore, I might get inspired into creating a fancy new outfit for a class, and... a few numbers go up? The aftermath of playing FF14 really does feel as if I've spent the day watching a weirdly prolonged movie.
#a part of me keeps making annoyed noises and saying ''just buy the fucking game already''#bcs then i'll have bigger caps available. more outfits. etc. but then i remember that it's a subscription.#a subscription that will lock this character forever if i stop paying the fee. and suddenly i REALLY don't wanna.#and the fact that i keep feeling as if ''this is a movie - not a chance to create new and interesting characters''?#it definitely pushes ff14 closer towards something like no-character-creation The Witcher and actual-railroading Divinity 2#and... yeah. mmos aren't exactly famous for letting you develop ''interesting characters'' in the story or whatever#but that's usually bcs there isn't a LOT of story. and it's usually very ''start a new character''-friendly#which ff14 is very much designed AGAINST (you can do all the classes as one character. msq is really fucking long. etc)#so despite how deeply invested ff14 is in its own story. it almost feels like the player isn't allowed to INTERACT with it.#skyrim has many faults (many many faults) in its story. but usually there's an ability to pick and choose what parts to interact with.#i could play as a thief and NOT join the thieves guild. i could ignore the civil war. or alduin. or miraak.#i can even make a choice sometimes to pick a side (dawnguard/vampires. empire/stormcloaks.)#there are even some daedric quests that allow for ''murder the innocents or get cool new item''-choices.#do those choices matter a lot as far as gameplay is concerned? not really. but for a character-story? it's incredible.#so ff14 has this whole world of amazing things. and you HAVE to play through msq to see it.#and msq doesn't really allow you to be anything other than ''heroic and steadfast warrior'' with MAYBE a bit of flavor-text mixed in.#which would be fine in most mmos. bcs the story is such a small part of the game. but ff14 has a FUCKTON of story.#so... you get to choose what your character looks like. and then you get to see them in lots of cutscenes.#bcs you don't really have any control over WHO this character of yours really is. just what they're wearing.#so yeah. it ends up feeling a lot like i've just watched a movie. not done something ''creative'' for character-building.#ff14#skyrim#personal stuff#video games#rants

hey did you know that slay the princess is out now? did you know it's on sale with a 10% launch discount until november 2nd? do you want to spend several hours getting sternly lectured by and annoying jonathan sims?? well this is your game i think it's good and you should buy it but don't listen to me look at that 91 metascore—and for us, just a couple of lil guys make a game with no gameplay other than click dialogue options! idk must be fun
“An existentially horrific visual novel, with an incredibly well-written plot, a beautiful score and graphics that will enrapture all senses. One of the best narrative games of 2023.” 10/10 – Voxel Smash
“There isn’t a single thing I don’t like about Slay the Princess. The presentation is beautiful, the story is fantastic and moving, the voice acting of amazing characters is done phenomenally well, and the branching paths of the story give you what feels like unlimited possibilities.” 10/10 – Try Hard Guides
“Slay the Princess will stay with you for a long time, I think. It’s absurdist and dark and haunting in a way that not a lot of games are. If you have an itch for something that’s spooky but also morally confronting and you will be thinking about it for days to come, it’s impossible not to recommend this.” A- – Player 2
Anyways more seriously truly from the bottom of our hearts thank you all so much for making this launch a world-shifting experience for us! We can't wait to share more games with you, starting with Episode 5 of Scarlet Hollow 👀

Simynthos - (almost) cc-free
With all testing done I am happy to share with you the (almost) cc-free version of Simynthos today! I was actually surprised by how quickly it could be transformed, and I have to say I'm very happy with how it turned out!
For this version I removed all decorative cc. The only cc you now need for full functionality are the rabbit hole rugs. The lots are so small, there wouldn't have been nearly enough room for the in game rabbit holes. The rabbit hole rugs can be downloaded here.
I still recommend using the performance mods from the original post here, just to make things a little more smooth and enjoyable during gameplay. But they are not strictly necessary. You could also go completely vanilla (more on that below).
There are a couple of things to note:
Some of the double beds are placed against a wall and therefore only one sim can sleep in them now. You can replace them with the one sided beds for two sims, the ones I used in the original version, if you like. The mattresses by sketchbook pixels can be found here, and some nice custom bed frames from @aroundthesims can be found here.
I did make use of @omedapixel's S3DT (Sims 3 Decorator Tool) in two or three places, just to place decorative items on surfaces where they cannot be placed in a vanilla game. You do NOT need the mod for these items to stay in place, as long as you don't move them when redecorating. Then they may slip back into normal mode and you will only be able to place them back with the mod. But it's only in a couple of places, so even if that happens, it will not have a significant impact on your game.
Replacing some of the cc did result in some interactive items not being usable at first, but I hope I caught all of those cases during the (quite extensively 😉) play-testing. So now all interactive items should be usable. If you find any place where an item can't be reached by the sims, please notify me and I will update the world.
How does it run?
I have tested this version of Simynthos in two scenarios: With the routing optimization mods I recommended for the original version (that's the save all the screenshots are from 😉), but also in a completely vanilla game, playing just a small family with one child, and it actually ran pretty well on my gaming laptop, even without any routing improvement mods (my game is optimized though)! If you're going completely vanilla, it may get a bit annoying in some places though, with sims not being able to pass each other, and toddlers not being able to be put down on the ground due to lack of space. But if you do not want to use any mods at all, it would probably still be playable with a small household that doesn't host huge parties 😉
Thanks again to the creators who have made this world possible:
Thanks to @nilxis, the creator of „Sa Pineda“, for the beautiful base to this world. The island on which Simynthos was build is entirely their creation. I did not change the island itself or the terrain painting outside the lots (except for some places where I placed the walkways/paths). All credit for that goes to them! You can find the original version here. Also make sure to check out their other worlds, while you‘ re at it. They are some of my favorite worlds!
Thanks to @nornities for their extremely helpful CAW guide here. Unfortunately I only found this guide when Simynthos was almost finished. I could have avoided some of the mistakes I made, had I found it sooner!
Some of you may know, that I am not the first to make a Greek version of Sa Pineda. Back in 2016 Vendela created Simtorini. This super cute world has the typical blue and white houses another Greek island, Santorini, is famous for. Go check it out here.

Poppy Playtime Chapter 3. (Spoilers)
Did anyone else feel that despite being given such individualised characteristics-the smiling critters were underutilised?
The fact that they only even showed up in the playhouse as small enemies aside from a VERY brief cameo from Dogday was annoying.
This leads me to MAJOR missed opportunity in the use of Dogday as an immediate opposing force to Catnap: having HIM be the one guiding us instead of this random kid named Ollie who we STILL know nothing about (Poppy apparently does but neglected to so much as give us a hint). I just feel that trying to get the lights on would have it perfectly into Dogdays element and worked against CatNaps sleep/night element. It would have at least given us more character to Dogday as a leader and how he goes about it.
Also we were NEVER even made aware there WERE bigger body versions of the other critters. They went on and ON about poor Theodore nearly dying and the protype saving him (by letting him be transferred in to a body anyway, which is the in game version of ‘my job here is done’ ‘but you didn’t do anything’) but we didn’t hear so much as a PEEP about DogDay or the other Bigger body versions of the critters he references. Massive missed chance for story and gameplay by not having them as antagonists, or even warring factions (half with catnap, half against etc) even a few notes detailing craftycorn painting with kids resulting in half a wall becoming a mural, Dogday being kind and bringing Stella coffee or being a general helper, hoppy stealing Stella’s coffee and going on a bender.
Catnap himself was pretty underutilised despite having creepy moments and the boss battle was just plain repetitive towards the end.
Hell, Miss Delight felt more like a ‘stalking in the night’ predator then Catnap.
There was a LOT more that could have been done with them, or even just Dogday.

Bungo Stray Dogs Chuuya Nakahara & Gender Neutral Reader + Osamu Dazai & Reader + Odasaku X Reader Summary: Headcanons about taking care of middle schooler Dazai and Chuuya and dating Oda Beginning Note: Shoutout to all the class clowns/funny people, they're great inspiration for scenarios. @kiwibeanv helped with the stories of said funnies. Word Count: 2629 (Fluff/Crack)
First off, you're their parent figure and they live with you. All comfy with you and they trust you a lot. Now to move on to their stupidity.
Immaturity at its finest.
It’s constant arguing, pointing fingers, and the like.
They’re always fighting for your attention, pushing against each other so your hand can pet them.
You’re sitting on the couch, watching TV, when Dazai runs into the living room and jumps to the spot next to you. Since you’re leaning against the armrest, there’s only one seat next to you.
Dazai pushes himself under your arm and hugs your waist as he sighs contentedly. You idly rub his arm for a few minutes before Chuuya comes in with an annoyed expression.
“Oi, StinkZai, do your history homework before you go do whatever.”
Dazai whined and buried himself deeper into your side. “I’ll do it later! I’m tired right now.” He closed his eyes.
“Dazai, you need to do your assignments before you eventually forget and never get them done,” you told him. He let out a groan at that, “Why can’t Chuuya do it? Isn’t he supposed to listen to me since I’m smarter?”
“You’re not smarter than me! Even a shrimp can do better than you!” Chuuya sped to the two of you and pulled on Dazai until the latter fell to the floor.
“Ow!- That’s my spot!” The brunette rubbed his arm. Chuuya had stolen his spot in your arms now and smirked at the other.
“Maybe you should’ve done your homework first, you idiot!” He blew a raspberry and rested his head on your shoulder.
You sighed, “If you two continue to fight, I’m simply going to go to my room and relax without either of you.”
They both froze and looked at you then at each other. Despite their inability to cooperate without trouble, they agreed on the fact that your presence was probably the most important thing they want. They begrudgingly decided to keep quiet, moving so Chuuya can sit on one of your knees while Dazai reclaimed his initial place.
Eventually, they get their emo phases. One day, Dazai just randomly started wearing bandages over his eye, saying that he looks better.
“Why are you wasting bandages?” “Because I look so cool and a lot of girls come up to me and say I look nice! I know that so many people have a crush on me, especially when I’m like this!” “Just wait til they find out that this stupid mackerel is actually a bad person and a major turn off!” “Chuuya, don’t say that, please.”
And Chuuya had a Sonic phase. He thought the hedgehog was so cool, he wanted to be like him in as many ways he can.
He then found out about Conker’s Bad Fur Day and asked you if he could get it. You thought it’d be a wholesome game for kids, but when you looked at the plot and ratings, you didn’t buy it for him. He was sad, but got over it.
And then he came across Devil May Cry and decided to watch the gameplay and cutscenes because you might not buy it for him (you may consider, but it still has some scenes that you’re skeptical about.)
Nero from DMC4 is so cool despite the excessive “Kyrie!” throughout the game, Chuuya wants to dress like him. And dye his hair white.
Every time he loves a character, he wants to dye his hair their own hair color, but you never let him because why should he ruin his lovely hair? (He may or may not ask to dye his hair just so you can compliment him.)
Hot Topic is their favorite store because it has so many aesthetics and they love the style of the apparel.
They start simping for characters and reading fanfics. You know what they’re reading because they use the family/shared device and don’t delete the history. Why are there so many lemons? What do they mean? (Unless you’re a fanfic reader yourself)
They kinda know what sex is, they have a faint idea, but they’re probably wrong on a few things.
Hence, Dazai is excited for sex ed! Wooo! His head is smacked by Chuuya because the latter is embarrassed that he just yelled that out and now kids are looking at them.
When they’re learning about it, Dazai’s snickering at the pictures. But not the childbirth, what the actual fuck did they just watch?
Oh boy, now they’re the cringe and immature kids who laugh at everything that can vaguely be related to sex.
Anyways, now to the scenario that was the whole reason for this
You were sitting on the couch, Dazai and Chuuya on the floor and you’re petting their heads. You check your phone, keeping a hand on Chuuya’s head and caressing it. He’s smiling with his eyes closed in bliss. Oh, how he loves this affection.
Until Dazai pushes and climbs on him to be the receiver of your pets. He smiles innocently when you glance over, but smirks at Chuuya, who shoves him as well and takes his spot back.
This continues to go on and you’re about to say something, but then the door is unlocked and opened. Dazai excitedly turns to see Oda coming in. He runs over and hugs the man while Chuuya sets himself in your lap.
After greeting Dazai, Oda is carrying him and walks to you and Chuuya, pressing a kiss to your head and ruffling Chuuya’s hair.
You're in a relationship with Oda, and Dazai loves it.
His two favorite people together, who he might call his parents? How blessed he is!
He doesn’t know who he prefers, so the two of you are equal in his eyes. But when it comes to physical affection, he might go to Oda since Chuuya’s all over you and Dazai’s too tired to do anything. Also, he doesn’t see Oda as often as he does you.
Chuuya thinks Oda is great, but he’s not as close to him as Dazai is. If he had to choose between you or Oda, he’d honestly choose you.
Oda loves coming home to find you three waiting for him on the couch. It warms his heart that he is wanted and loved.
Either he comes home to you all cooking dinner, sleeping in a pile on the floor, playing games (board games or video) , or watching TV.
He still takes care of his adopted children at the curry shop, but he also enjoys the company of Dazai and Chuuya
Sometimes, he would bring those five kids to your house so they can play with Dazai and Chuuya. Everyone has fun, it’s like a party. (Sneaking kisses in the kitchen as everyone else plays video games on the TV)
Oda is a gentleman, whenever you two go out, he always opens the door for you, pulls out your seat, and kisses your hand when you both meet and bid goodbye to each other.
If Dazai ever sees you and Oda share a kiss, he’s cheering in his mind. Whereas Chuuya just brushes it off with an unnoticeable upwards twitch of his lips and an eye roll.
Once, you spotted Oda talking to Dazai outside under the moonlight. You knew the former was telling the teen about the right thing to do. Dazai had expressed his want of being involved in some well known group.
He hinted a little about maybe being a detective or even following Oda’s footsteps of going to the mafia. You really didn’t want him to go with the second option, but at least he’d have Oda to guide him if he’s even alive at that time
Thus, he’s told to prioritize other people’s happiness over his own. It’s tough, but it’s for the better of everyone.
He also says the same to Chuuya, but he goes into more detail with Dazai. You mainly handle Chuu with the lectures since he’s more likely to take your words to heart.
Chuuya has great friends in school, they seem like a lovely bunch, and you trust them. You’ve met them before and they were very nice.
Dazai doesn’t have as many, but you can tell he’s not really clicking with them like Chuuya is with his own. When his mood seems to lower, you go to him when he’s alone and you two cuddle. You can faintly pick up the sound of sniffles and feel your clothing moisten. After the session, you two don’t mention it because you know Dazai doesn’t want to remember that.
With any trauma, you take them to therapy. If it’s affecting either kid negatively, they need to talk about it. Initially, they talk to you, but they go see a professional if that doesn’t work.
Academically, the two of them are good. Dazai’s grades are always A’s even if he procrastinates or doesn’t seem to get his work done.
Chuuya usually gets B’s, but his PE is the best with an A+. He signs up for any sports the school offers if he’s interested.
Dazai’s lowest grade is PE, around a C because he’s not athletic like Chuuya.
Both Dazai and Chuuya have the same PE class and teacher, but their participation and effort are the opposite.
“Okay, everyone needs to do fifteen seconds of push-ups and fifteen sit-ups, let’s go! Get started!” The teacher instructed. They were walking around their class in the gym, ensuring everyone was doing what they were told.
They noticed a student lying face down next to the wall and when they walked by, they pointed at him and asked, “Who is that?”
Chuuya heard their inquiry and answered, “Dazai.”
The teacher was silent for a second before focusing back on the other students, “Let’s go! You should be on the next exercise now!”
Whenever there’s a fundraiser, they’re begging you to please donate so they can get a prize.
“Pleeeaaassseee? You can get a refrigerator stuffed with $200! Or even an iPad!” Dazai’s giving you the puppy eye(s) [depends if he’s bandaged his eye or not] and Chuuya is hugging you and kissing your cheek. “We love you so much, can you pretty please with a cherry on top donate? We’ll pay you back!” (They don’t make money, nor do they have an allowance.)
When it comes to projects, Dazai always waits until the last minute.
“Hey, can we go to the store and buy supplies? I have a project.” He whispered to you.
“Huh...?” You were woken up by him at whatever the time was, so you rubbed your eyes and sat up. Oda was still asleep beside you, a peaceful expression on his face. You kept your voice to not disturb him, “What?” When you checked the time, it was 2 am.
“I need some things for my science project,” Dazai was just standing by your bed, with big eyes, looking as though he had thrown up.
“When’s it due?”
“Tomorrow.” You frowned at that.
“Sorry bud, can’t help you. It’s too late, why aren’t you in bed?”
“I had to work on my project and other assignments,” he shifted in his spot and awkwardly averted his eyes. “I only need two things, glitter markers and a poster board.”
You stared at him tiredly, before sighing. “What happened to the ones I bought at the beginning of school?”
“I lost them.”
You blinked, unmoving. “And you can’t borrow Chuuya’s?”
He shook his head, saying they weren’t what he needed. At last, you moved the covers off your body and made your way to the closet. “Fine, go get ready. You should be thankful I’m even entertaining this idea.”
Dazai silently cheered and sped to his room. Why were you so lenient with these children? They’re gonna be spoiled.
His project was claiming that potatoes can power up devices. As stupid as it sounds, he somehow makes it convincing until it’s actually tested and obviously it doesn’t work. But he still gets a passing grade for the effort.
During one of their classes, Chuuya asked to go to the bathroom and ten minutes later when the teacher was about to ask about his location, he comes back with a lunch tray.
“Where’d you get that?” “I look like a sixth grader.”
He just munched away as everyone stared at him confused before they got back to the lesson.
Another time, the teacher left the room for a few minutes. Since Dazai wondered what their coffee tasted like, he waltzed over to the desk and took a sip and immediately spat it out.
“Ugh! It tastes like shit!” When the teacher came back, the whole class silently agreed to stay quiet and not tell on him.
When it was around Halloween and everyone could wear a costume, Dazai wore a squirrel suit. He brought an acorn prop and clipped it to the front of his pants. When walking up to the stage for the best costume contest, he hit the acorn with his legs, playing with it, until it accidently hit his balls and he crouched to the floor in pain. Of course, the guys winced at it, but it was pretty funny. Someone, Chuuya probably, yelled out, “He busted a nut!”
More nonsense, pantsing sometimes occurred. And Chuuya was the unfortunate target for Dazai. He had snuck up behind the former, and yanked down his pants. Regrettably, Dazai’s fingers also caught onto the waistband of the undergarments and when it came down, he got a face full of balls.
He was so traumatized despite being the one to commit the act.
Food fights can also happen. While Chuuya was peacefully eating his lunch, Dazai threw a tomato slice at him and the fruit made a satisfying splat! on Chuuya’s cheek.
He also tried to throw cheese, but he missed and it landed in the hair of someone who was just walking by. (And somehow did not get in trouble).
For presentations, Chuuya had to do an audio recording, and Dazai just sneezed at the beginning of it, He recorded another but when uploading the audio files, he accidently clicked the sneeze one. Presentation day was funny, but Chuuya didn’t necessarily like it.
If they had online school, Chuuya would be talking to the camera before a ball smacks his face. He falls out of frame, and Dazai is just seen running in the background.
There are also interviews or random school news done by the student council. They hate having to work with Dazai and Chuuya together because they always argue. The one time the video went right was when Chuuya had a voice crack.
Rallies also happen, and students would have to cheer as loud as they can for their team. Chuuya and Dazai are the loudest, but they also suffer from voice cracks. After the rally, they lose their voice for about a day.
Rocketry is an elective, and there’s a weird Russian kid named Fyodor. Both the boys don’t really like him. Since he’s associated with rats (Kids call him Rat, and one person did see him surrounded by rats in an alleyway as though they were dependent on him), they wanted to get a rat plushie. They asked you if you could get them the plush. You decided to buy it for them, not knowing why they actually wanted it.
They taped it to a rocket they made for the elective, put more power into it, and they launched it into the air. When it blasted off, they looked at Fyodor with threatening stares.
Occasionally, you and Oda would volunteer to help with some school activities. The first time both of you arrived, so many students had a crush on either of you. They’d go to Chuuya/Dazai and whisper “That’s your parent?”
Oda’s a dilf and you’re also a milf/dilf.
What a happy family you lot are.

As a story teller, what advice would you give to fellow Simmers who want to start a story but struggle?
For example: How did you start story telling and which obstacles did you have to shove out of the way to finally start? What made it easier for you to put yourself out there? Did you gain any personal rewards/benefits by telling your stories? How do you set up a story post? Pics first or plotting the episode? Where do you find inspiration? What did you wish you knew earlier? Or anything else that comes to your mind that could be of any help. I see quite a lot of posts from struggling future story tellers and I thought it would be nice to collect a few tips.
Questions are very welcome too!

(My answers below the cut)
How to actually start:
I do read quite a lot and also watch series and movies - and what really turns me off is an infodump at the beginning. So I try to avoid that. And that also makes it easy to start. All the lore and background stories can happen later and you don't have to plot that out before you start. (Our current story started as a playtest and hundreds of episodes later, we have a lore as deep as the Mariana Trench ö.Ö') So don't let it stop you. It all evolves over time, when you ask yourself: Why did x have to move and go to a new school? Why is y restraining himself to hit on the cute guy? Why is z so annoyed of y and why is he the only one who thinks like this? How do they cope with stuff that happens to them? Why does x react in another way than y on the same event? ... There is a plot behind literally everything if you just take your time and look closely. Like a three year old child: "Why do we eat cute animals?" ö.ö' Showing your character's feelings and why they are who they are also helps you and the reader to form a connection to them. It never ceases to amaze me when story tellers are able to create characters that grow on you even though they are annoying and vulnerable and have flaws. (Like Terry Pratchett for example, or the characters in The Big Bang Theory.)
Which obstacles did you have to shove out of the way to finally start? I have a few obstacles to overcome putting my stories out there. ADHD often keeps me from concentrating and getting things done. It's hard to stick with something when you're distracted all the time. And I have a weird way of thinking. I'm also autistic and writing about feelings and how others think and stuff, is so, so hard for me. My stories are weird because of all of that and I know it. But I think they are quite unique and fun because of that and I wouldn't want it any other way :3 Plus my english isn't very good. Writing in a different language is quite an obstacle to overcome ö.Ö' But I can't write anything in my native language, I even take my notes in english. I have no idea why. Just sounds wrong to me.
What made it easier for me? - starting slowly I started this tumblr over ten years ago to post about my builds. Only a few people saw and liked my stuff so I got bolder and also shared gameplay pics and, after a while, a few stories. - passion I love my Sims, I think that helps a lot. After all these years, I'm still eager to see what they are up to and to tell about their shenanigans and adventures. - keeping expectations low Of you and your audience. It does not have to be perfect and not everyone will like what you do. That's just a fact. You'll get better at your own pace. I think tumblr is the perfect place to start a story, because if someone doesn't like your stuff, they don't have to follow you. - it's an outlet for my creativity. My ADHD brain is running on warp speed. Sitting down and putting some of these ideas and thoughts in a shape and make them real is relieving for me - and exciting! What rewards/benefits did/do I gain? - learning new stuff: I'm still learning english and just a few days ago, I shed tears of joy because I could finally understand an american series without subtitles! Also Photo editing. I kept looking for better ways to edit my screenshots and I learned so much! My Sims even inspired me to craft some stuff in RL ^^' - changing my point of view Telling about 6 different charcters is quite a challenge. Things that happen to them affect them in different ways and they have their own way to cope with stuff. They helped my autistic me a lot to make me see what's going on with people around me and to understand them.
- healing Seeing how the characters in my story cope with hardships and following them through difficult times helped me a lot. I could never express how glad and grateful I am I started all this. But I am. - fun I'm having fun doing what I do. And I think that's the motor that runs this whole thing. I think the readers can feel if you're commited to what you do.
How do I set up a story post? I have a rough idea where the story is going and what's supposed to happen next. Then I go ingame and take the screenshots, my Sims add a few ideas themselves - and I go with it. I write the post around the screenshots and what happened ingame. Like this, it's still surprising and thrilling - even for me, the story teller.
Where do I find inspiration? My brain goes without filters and I need a lot of time to get back on track after challenging days. But this sponge in my head also soaks up so many ideas! I get inspired by anything. Music, series, things I see... Sometimes, that sponge gets squished and I get to see glimpsesof future episodes and I just think 'whoa!' and take notes.
What advice can I give? Use the things that keep you from starting to your advantage - to make your story special and unique. Don't worry too much. Other people don't see things as serious as you might think. Write for your own healing and growth. There are mutuals who will like what you have to tell. You don't have to please everybody. Read others' stories, watch movies/series you like and note what you liked or disliked. That gives you a rough direction of where your story could go (that was a great advice from youtuber Grayson Taylor, link is below).
What I wish I knew earlier? That there are great youtube channels for writers! I know, that's kind of obvious, but I don't feel like a writer. I barely managed to finish school. And I thought those channels might be too sophisticated and dry, you know? But there are aweome ones. Like Grayson Taylor (who is an author) and Bookfox, (who is editor and author), for example.
You'll never know where it leads. Our current story started when I made four of my favourite adult Sims teenagers to check out the Highschool Years pack. That was ~ 2 1/2 years ago - and I hated school from the bottom of my heart, so I was very sure this wouldn't take long and we could go back to our ongoing story (spoiler: we didn't...). And: the first chapters the Boys spent at school were truely healing for me. I didn't plan anything of it ^^'
Don't be afraid. I'm here on tumblr for over ten years and I never got any hate on my stories or the other stuff I post. Though, I turned anon off. You decide what you see on your dash, that's the great thing here on tumblr. You just get as much drama as you invite in. For me, tumblr is my save place and I still say this is one of the best communities I've ever been part of (on and off line). Thank you <3

Digimon World: Dusk (AKA Digimon Story Moonlight) - Final Thoughts
Another Digimon game done and dusted, woohoo! I finally played the game that JaidenAnimations made a video about (kinda). I definitely enjoyed it more than her, but I get her frustrations at the same time. Navigation was pretty ridiculous and most of the game was dumb side quests. Even though it expanded on the first Digimon Story game a bit, I definitely preferred Digimon World DS for its simplicity. I did really dig the aesthetics of this one though (pink and purple ftw!)
While a lot of the gameplay was tedious, all of the stuff I appreciated from the first game are still here. Great pixel art, fun digivolving mechanics, cool bosses, and a colorful world to explore. Overall, I thought it was a good time. Maybe it helped that I went in fully knowing what to expect and already understanding how to play?
Notes:
For a series called Digimon "Story" the story is always the weakest part. Like...what even was this story? It seemed like all of the usual nonsense to me. Every single digimon villain wants to rewrite the world and awaken the ultimate digimon yadda yadda yadda. The annoying thing in this one were all the weird inscrutable words they used. Of course I didn't write these down, but I remember at some point they wanted me to find the "D WORD" and I had no idea wtf a d word was nor did they ever explain it. Also, they suddenly called me a "real being" at the end which felt weird cuz it was the first time they used that phrase. The villain also mentioned "digi entelecheia" once or twice and I had completely forgotten what that was (okay maybe that one's my bad lol). Also, the city is always called "CITY" (in all caps) for no apparent reason. Just weird quirky stuff that had me confused for the majority of the game.
I didn't connect to a single character and completely forgot about Phascomon's existence until he popped up at the end. (I literally thought, "Who is that, this game's mascot or something?") The dialogue was kind of funny because the characters were constantly saying "we could try to solve this problem ourselves, but [player character] is so much better than us at everything, let's just let her do it" lol. Thanks guys...
Due to translation error, one dude kept misgendering me lol (called me "he" every time he spoke).
The animation of the main character going "aww shucks" whenever people gassed her up was really cute and I looked forward to it every time.
This game is actually HUGE. Kind of annoyingly so. There were all those random dark areas that I never really explored because I wasn't sure what the point of them was. I think there was also some kind of coliseum (maybe?) but I skipped that as well. There are also wifi connection features which are required for completionists which is kinda shitty nowadays.
Plenty of new digimon designs for me to enjoy. Really enjoyed Lunamon's digivolution line (hell yeah, Dianamon!). It was fun having a "dark" party for once. All of the giant bosses looked amazing too.
Although navigating this game was harder than it was in Digimon World DS, the game felt easier battle-wise. It's probably just due to all the built in grinding, but I beat the final bosses very easily. Of course, it helps that it's easy to become very rich and buy 99 of every item you need. I don't think I lost a single battle once.
This game introduced jogress digivolution but I simply never used it. I don't like just randomly combining digimon when I don't need to. If I was to 100% the game I may have experimented though.
One thing I missed from the first game was that you couldn't regress to the lowest digivolution for the best results anymore, you could only go back one digivolution at a time. I found this less satisfying, but I could see others seeing it as a plus.
The end credits that have you and your digimon parading by were very cute. That's always a nice touch. It was funny seeing my wimpy farm digimon that I never used included in the bunch.
Maybe I missed something but I wish the game had more equipment? Once you get to level 40 the options seemed pretty limited for some digimon types.
The interruptions of the farm report and digimon always getting new attacks got kind of annoying after awhile. I guess you wouldn't want to miss out on better attacks, but I wish the option to manage them was tucked away in a menu that you can pull up later instead of popping up after a battle. (Oh and getting a pop up to rename your digimon every time you digivolve...)
I missed being rewarded with tamer levels just for progressing through the story. I actually ended this game as a "normal tamer." I believe getting higher than that involves more fetch quests....I'm good for now.
I was pretty proud that I had a decent amount of mega-level digis at the end there. You can form some really badass parties in this game.
Wish I could teleport to 2007 and play this game with a friend who had Dawn so we could trade 🥺
Despite my gripes, I think this game has a lot going for it for the more hardcore Digimon fans that are willing to put up with some tedium. The eye candy alone made it worth it. I give it a 6 out of 10.

2024 is almost over.
And I have some (a lot of) people I want to thank.
@misbchave - Phoenix. My partner in crime. Love of my life. We've only been together since August, but you've quickly become such an important person in my life. I love you so much, and I'm so grateful to have you as a writing partner, friend and datemate. I know you're not on Tumblr very much, but I wanted to shout you out anyway.
@rradiio - Arcane. Bestie. I honestly feel like I can talk to you about pretty much anything and I won't be annoying you. We get along so well and I am so grateful to have you as a writing partner and friend.
@radioaf - Chaos. Bestie. Again, I genuinely feel like I can talk to you about anything and not be bothering you. I wanna watch more movies and gameplay with you, and I love the story we've made between our Als so far.
@fel-rush - Bastian. Bestie. We haven't talked and interacted as much as I want to, but what we have done, I've enjoyed so much, and I am looking forward to connecting with you more in the upcoming year.
I admit, if I kept going with descriptions for everyone, I'd be repeating myself a lot, so instead I'm just gonna ping some other people that I appreciate and wanna go into the next year interacting with on both my blogs:
@voodoodaaddy @siempreminta @venisontransmission @radi0activesmile @a-hazbin-spider @hartstune @hells-greatestdad @angelichooves @infernal-feminae @arachn0philia @alteregozowie @hclluvahctel @hazbin-ocs-rp @justiceiswrath @lcftcult @onlyheartaches @poisonedspider @pcrplevenom @prin-rose @spidrboots @the-smallest-star @the-muse-coven @the-dark-adam @voxtek-time @wrxthfulguard
I admire and adore each and every one of you, even though I havea "resting bitch personality" and don't often say so. I hope y'all and everyone else I didn't mention have a wonderful 2025, and another wonderful year of enjoying the hellaverse.

Recently been replaying the Insomniac spider-man games and find the way they handle JJJ pretty atrocious. Do you have any gripes about those games?
oh yeahhh their JJJ interpretation was funny at first but got old SUPER quick for me. in Miles Morales specifically i was basically done with the Bit before the game was even over. when it comes to other adaptational gripes, im not a suuuuper huge fan of how much of a straight up cop spider-man feels like in the first game haha. adore that game to death, don’t get me wrong, but there’s something about the flavor of police representation and spidey’s relationship to them in that game that i wasn’t super aware of in 2018 and has soured for me over time. like… spider-mans really enabling city-wide police surveillance towers??? going so far as to use them himself?? no hangups at all?? hey why does spider-man talk so gleefully about beating up drug dealers LMAO like i get he’s supposed to be a piece of shit sometimes to annoy bad guys but he says some scary stuff TO HIMSELF in this game at times that just doesn’t feel like peter to me.
of course a lot of these complaints about spidey you might notice are also things that directly tie into the gameplay mechanics so i think it was a case of insomniac wanting to gameify the character but missing the mark on justifying it narratively. the reassuring thing is that Miles Morales handles these points SO much better. in MM, you become a spider-man that directly interfaces with the community more often. people come to you with issues through a custom app. i’m hoping they stick with this route for spidey 2!

Being a Vanitas fan/enjoyer, I've looked into him a lot, but also, for a while, I tried to map out what emotions his Unversed actually represented. I'm not great at these things, but under the cut is my attempt at nailing them down to specific feelings.
I guessed the emotion based on their name, appearance and what they do in-game.
Feel free to add onto what I've done or propose your own ideas!
Those with (?) are ones I'm not so sure upon. Those with / may mean all or one of these things.
Flood- Impatience / flood of (negative) emotions / uncontrollable
Their jittery movements imply they hate sitting still or being inactive. ‘Flood’ also refers to something overwhelming, they are also the most common Unversed.
-
Scrapper- “Giving the cold shoulder”/ being ignored. Can also ‘to scrap’/ fight.
They’re always shivering and looking around, looking from side to side over their shoulder. Whether they’re the ones giving or receiving, I’m not sure. As for ‘Scrapper’ as their name implies, they’re some of the first secondary Unversed you encounter and gameplay wise, provide a bit more of a challenge, hence wanting a fight.
-
Bruiser- To be ‘bruised’ as in ‘bruised ego’ embarrassment / Can also be sluggish(?).
They move relatively slowly, but also hit hard, like you’ve upset them.(?)
-
Red Hot Chili- To be in a ‘Fired up’ state / hot-headed.
To the point, they’re fire-elementals.
-
Thornbite- To have a thorn in one’s side.
To be annoyed with someone. This one is a little on the nose, since these Unversed attack with thorny vines.
-
Shoegazer- To be overly defensive.(?)
-
Spider Chest- A ‘nasty surprise’.
A Mimic that surprises you with threat.
-
Archraven- Greed.
The only reason these Unversed come down from the sky is to scoop up Munny. Ravens (and corvids in general) are known to like shiny things.
-
Hareraiser- Fright / retaliation(?)
They don’t attack unless you initiate first, they also make whimpering noises as if afraid.
-
Jellyshade- Feeling of being talked about negatively from many people(?) / bad rumours.
We only see them a few times, but they’re often in massive numbers and are easy to fell; much like how a bad rumor spreads and grows out of control.
-
Tank Toppler- Bottling up emotions / Emotional Outburst.
You can only defuse them one way, otherwise they puff up and up until they explode, much like how some emotions make people explode when they’ve been bottled up.
-
Vile Phile- Being ‘Toxic’ / talking negatively / outcasted(?)
They cast poison on you, but heal their allies.
-
Sonic Blaster- Feeling targeted.
They use their radar-dish to identify, then target the player with a laser.
-
Triple Wrecker- To wreck and destroy.(?)
-
Wild Bruiser- ‘Going ape’ / apeshit / throw a tantrum.
Self explanatory.
-
Blue Sea salt- From the adage ‘salt in the wound’ / to be overly hurt.
Another elemental, but based on the Sea Salt Ice Cream. However I feel its representation is fairly clear.
-
Yellow Mustard- Spiteful(?)
-
Mandrake- Panic / Can also be stubbornness(?)
They stay planted in the ground, only moving when the player is close, running away from them.
-
Buckle Bruiser- Defensive retaliation.
Much like the Bruiser, only they’re armoured- more defensive.
-
Chrono Twister- Feeling of running out of time / dread.
The Unversed’s face is within the hourglass, perpetually being filled up with sand, again and again; it also uses time magic against the player.
-
Axe Flapper- Feeling left out- to get the ‘axe’.(?)
The eyes look sad with non-fallen tears still by its eyes, while it's in the shape of an axe.
-
Prize Pod- Disappointment.
No real way to describe this one other than it symbolizes the opposite of what it does in-game.
-
Blobmob- The feeling of being mobbed / surrounded by enemies / never ending danger.
Once you defeat one, it sprouts more and more.
-
Glidewinder- Cheating, lying, unfairness.
Three things you never want to encounter in something competitive for three Unversed you face within races and the outside of the ship in Deep Space.
-
Wheel Master- Envy(?) / Can also be pettiness.
Based upon Maleficent's feelings towards Aurora.
-
Symphony Master- Discordance.
Based upon Anastasia, Drizella’s and Lady Trimaine’s feelings towards one another.
-
Cursed Coach- Jealousy.
Based upon Lady Trimaine’s feelings towards Cinderella.
-
Mad Treant- Terror.
Based upon the fear the Dark forest has and the illusions it creates.
-
Trinity Armour- Reckless / unfocused anger(?)
Three armour-like pieces come together after causing a ruckus in Radiant Garden and even when together, their attacks are still split between Terra, Aqua and Ventus.
-
Metamorphosis- Unexpected change(?) / draining.
It drains the power from the Ship in Deep Space. The name means to change into something else.
-
Mimic Master- Imposter Syndrome(?)
-
Iron Imprisonator (I-IV)- Trapped, Imprisoned, Restrained, Captive.
Four synonyms for four stages, where the Iron Imprisonator is slowly becoming free.
-
Turtle toad(s)- Gnawing hunger / ravenousness
These are the only Unversed with visible mouths.
-
Flowersnake- Deceit / Two-faced.
It hides away its true face behind its flower, only to spew poison.
-
Lump of Horror- Horror.
Self explanatory.
Based on the fear of countless children.

What's your shadowrun games ranking? A couple of them are on game pass and I've been getting really into crpgs lately.
hong kong > dragonfall > the first one
the first shadowrun doesn't have permanent party members, which really drags it down. it means it just can't have the kind of slick interesting writing that makes the other two so good. dragonfall has a razor-tight plot and some great characters but is brought down by two key factors: its hacking gameplay is notably more annoying than hong kong's, and one of the main companions is an annoying misogynist that i hate.
hong kong, on the other hand, is a nearly perfect game. first of all, it's a really vivid bringing to life of a part of the world that, yknow, you don't get a lot of urban fantasy about. it is so refreshing to see it not doing the Fantasy Races Stand In For Real Races shit and instead have clearly east asian goblins, dwarves, orcs, etc. the gameplay is fun, the quests have a really good set of options that make nearly any playstyle feel rewarding, i really like how it gives you a set backstory but lets you make choices within it to still create and define your own character, and most of all the cast absolutely clears. i like glory as much as the next lesbian, but is0bel, gobbet, racter (one of my favourite depictions of a low-empathy character in media), and gaichu are some of the best characters i've seen in video games. duncan is there too.
plus the side cast! jomo, MAXIMUM LAW, crafty, reliable matthew, auntie... there is so much life and depth to the characters in hong kong. you can go on the computer and read in-universe forum posts by shadowrunners. it's a living breathing world and by far the best thing ever done with the shadowrun IP. play shadowrun: hong kong

As someone who hasn't touched it yet- how does IS4 stack up? How's first impressions been?
Ok, let me give my thoughts on IS4, now that it's been a week!
TL;DR -> This Rocks, I love it.
IS4 is far, far more polished than IS3. I feel a bit bad blasting and slamming IS3 so much, but the bottom line with it is that it's just very very flawed in ways that really make it hard to revisit it in the same way IS2 is always a fun romp.
If I had to point out flaws with IS4, it'd be that, on a personal level, I wish it had a few more Normal Arknights Maps. The vast majority of maps in IS4 are pranks and checks of some sort. This isn't necessarily a negative, but I do like playing some Tower Defense more frequently than what IS4 allows, since it's always got me worried about "oh god my team lacks X, Floor Y's Map Z checks X, if I get it, I'll D I E " so I try to go for my super tried and true team instead of daring to experiment all that much. This will eventually pass, but it's been a Thing for me.
Besides that, though? I just have a lot of good things to say about it. The systems feel like they were thought out this time: The Fordartals (sp?) system allows for a lot of player expression, agency, and just in general fun in a way the Light system of IS3 can simply never hope to compare to. About the only thing the Light system did right was the way it worked thematically: If you wish to confront The Corrupting Heart, you really, really gotta go in the dark, and for the best possible chance against, Izumik, Mizuki must find the Light again and be filled with hope. Yeah ok sure, thematically, these work, but the gameplay component sucks ass, because Light exists almost exclusively as a form of punishment and in basically no way as something you can use. It opens some roads, sure, but that Rogue Trader and Wish Fulfilled node are not worth having 9 out of you 11 Operators with Metastatic. Speaking of Metastatic, the single worst thing Arknights has done, even if you are maxed out on Collapse in IS4 and are packing four fully upgraded maluses, THAT STILL DOESN'T COMPARE to how bad Metastatic was. Let that sink in.
The endings are no longer RNG! Absolutely wonderful!
Eik is the first IS 2nd Boss I can say I think is good! Frozen Monstrosity was just annoying, Big Sad Lock is incredibly static, and The Last Knight, in my opinion, is the single worst and most boring boss in the entire game, not even just the game mode. Eik is like if The Last Knight didn't suck: Same principle, but done in a way that is actually not snooze-inducing. Mind you, the principle of the fight is still not something I enjoy, but unlike The Last Knight, that's wholly a me thing, as opposed to being an objectively awful and boring fight (like The Last Knight, the worst and most boring boss in Arknights).
Even though I said I'd like some more normal maps, the maps are good, to be honest! I can't think of any Fire and Water Unions or Out of Controls.
IS4 is the Smash of Arknights: (Almost) Everyone Is Here! Brush up on your gimmicks from various events, because they WILL appear.
The Midboss philosophy in IS4 is lovely, in my opinion: It's low HP bosses who can quickly fuck you up in their own way, be it stun, immense conditional damage, or simply supporting their team so well that you get overwhelmed. The Variant stages for the bosses are entire new maps, so that's also cool.
Collapsal enemies are congruent with the map design: Collapsals can be very quick, with a caveat: Normal Collapsal mobs speed up after they get hit, Casters speed up after not attacking for a bit, Aerials are fast but always have many loops and never directly go to the point until after a while. Shattered Champions are the exception, and they can either loop a while or just go straight for the jugular, making them apt Elite units for the faction.
There's much more I could say more concisely, but really, just try the game mode, get your ass kicked a bit, learn it, and then you'll see how coherent the design of IS4 is in terms of systems, maps, enemies, and features. Sorry, IS3, but you got your ass absolutely kicked like I did on my Waves 15 runs when you'd give my 2 main DPS units Metastatic on Floor 5.

Oh man I saw your totk issues post and I agree 100%!! Those are all things that have really bothered me about playing totk, and things that made playing it not nearly as fun (the dungeons, the shrines, the building, etc).
Especially the map!! When I tell you I was so disappointed by the maps on totk, I was hoping for something new! It really just feels like a modded botw, not an official sequel.
I was wondering what your thoughts are on the concept of “what if they had sent link to the past instead”? So the surface map would feature huge differences in the land forms and buildings that exist, and we’d get to see more ganon whenever he visits Hyrule, or go out to the desert to see Gerudo town, etc.
If they really wanted no sheika tech, they could also just have it being newly built? And you could introduce the new characters and such, etc etc.
(I also think the past champions are such a missed opportunity? If botw is about grief and loneliness, and finding hope in the hopeless, and Totk is about coming together despite that, it could have been really interesting if Link had gone to the past! They could have used the past setting as an eerie reminder to what Link and Zelda had lost when the Calamity struck!)
THAT BEING SAID: I’m not as familiar with the legend of Zelda lore, and haven’t played totk very much! I wanted to know your thoughts on this because you seem to have a lot of story and game mechanic knowledge that could explain why this could be a bad/good idea!
(Plus, your discussions are always super interesting to read, as is your custom totk lore, so I’d love to know what you think🩷)
I’m sorry if you’ve already answered an ask like this! If that’s the case, feel free to point that out and I’ll go through your ask tag if you have one:) I hope you have a great day!⭐️
Hi!
im glad you enjoy my rants, i often feel like im being overly mean but tbh were else could i just rant as much as my heart desires without getting spammed by annoying people (certainly not on twitter lol)
i have talked alot, and i mean ALOT, about totk and my issues with it, both lore and gameplay wise, i dont claim to be an expert on any, though i am an old zelda fan and aspiring gamedev, i really only talk about what i feel about it, what i think about it, and by all means im biased as hell xD
if you dont know yet, the "ganondoodles rants" tag is where all my rants go, so if you are interested in reading more on my totk thoughts thats the way to search (given tumblrs search in blog works ..)
and to answers your question, i have touched on it briefly, sending link back in time before the shiekah tech existed would have been an easy way to excuse how they jsut got .. rid of it, bc they didnt, it literally didnt exist yet- and for reusing the map- though that argument falls a little flat bc ... they coud have already done that in present totk, like i brought up in one of said rants, things like flooding gerudo desert, collapsing death mountain, drying out zoras domain etc, and changing the location of the main populations would have already done alot without having to redo the map in its entirety;
the little changes to map itself really wouldnt that big of a deal if they didnt also send you to the EXACT same locations AND repeat the SAME LOCATIONS AGAIN but in the underground, like thats a fact i have talked about multiple times bc its so illogical in every way, anywhere theres a settlement on the surface theres a bigger mine below, its so stupid, the shrines conenct to a lightroot, the same, again, you dont need to explore bc theres nothing TO explore (its also extra weird bc theres one below taburasa (tarrey town) which .... link literally build with dumsda (hudson) a few years ago .. unless that got retconned too idk wth do i know anymore honestly- AND it makes the sonau extra weird bc why the hell do they have a bigass mine under every settlement ESPECIALLY UNDER GERUDO TOWN like, that just adds to my suspicions towards them)
anyway, link to the past was the point and yes, it could have solved a few issues (mainly shiekah tech and the whole "story" taking place AGAIN in the past completely disconnected from you the player) i personally am not so much a fan of it, but that mostly comes down to me just not liking time travel, i dont like going back in time, i want to play and do things in the here and now, i want to repair the damages of the calamity, find out its origins, maybe fix that too, i love to learn about past stuff too, but that more in text, no literal flashback (unless done well), i want to connect to the past but it also holds alot of mystery that maybe shouldnt be touched upon, some mysteries and unkowns are much more interesting when left as such, i want to THINK about things and come to conclusions that are logical and makes sense in hindsight even if it wasnt clear at the start, i dont want information and what to think about it told to my face over and over like im stupid
after botw i really didnt care much about the past, maybe about the acient hero who alot of people specualted to be of gerudo origin due to its red hair- which also got a monkeys paw curled bc in totk they do sth with but its so stupid and insulting that i do not accept it as canon, say what they want, there are no dog people anywhere in the past nor present botw/totk wtf is that i hate it- and its not even .. why is that the reward for that, it has literally NOTHING TO DO WITH TOTK ITSELF I COULD YELLLL AAAARGH
main point is that really, i wanted to explore the past .. in the present, i hoped to find broken old shiekah structures, old labs and maybe some left over damage and records from when the old king persecuted the shiekah for their tech, i wanted to know where the ancient energy the shiekah used was coming from, what the boss arena in the middle of hyrule castle really was- so many things just discarded and acted like they never happened or mattered; i dont want to travel into the past, i want to discover whats left of it, piece it together, discover dark secrets you can ask no one about bc all that knew about it are long gone- thats what intrigued me about botw, it felt like there was so much left to discover only for totk to throw it all away and just do its own thing .. but not commit to that hard enough either so its neither its own thing nor a sequel-
.. that wasnt really what you wanted to know was it? xD sorry i tend to ramble on if someone seems to give me permission to
to sum it up, i think it COULD work, sending link to the past instead, if done well, but so could canon totk have been, it could have been done well but wasnt for reasons i dont know and tbh even fear bc i worry its sets a dark future ahead of zelda; i personalyl am just not a fan of time travel so i dont have that much to say to it :O
#ganondoodles answers#ganondoodles talks#zelda#ganondoodles rants#adding this to that bc i .. ranted again#you ask for a pebble and get a landslide#my rambling mouth could never shut up#also dont apologize pls#i might not always answer but you have my permission to rant into my inbox#i often feel alone in my rants like its just my own brainrot taking hold

Zombie’s eyes darted back and forth between their working monitor and Discord monitor. They were currently busy editing a video for their channel, waiting for… something to come out of their boyfriend’s digital mouth.
The annoying thing about having a YouTuber boyfriend who also was in a group channel with his- their friends was that usually, he was busy recording a video for someone’s channel, be it his own, for the Party Crashers, or for one of the others’ channels. Sophist offered multiple times to get Zombie into a few of them, and while they did join for some (Lethal Company in particular was very fun for them, especially hearing everyone screaming), they didn’t want to do it too often, since most of the time the games they played could only have a max of 4 players, and Zombie never really wanted to butt in a lot. After all, it was their collective channel. The Party Crashers were just the four of them, and they didn’t want to disrupt that dynamic.
It definitely would have been perfect, seeing as their mascot was a literal star, and the five points could have represented all five of them, but Zombie was way too stubborn to want to change their brand at this point. And besides, Zombie’s channel was so different to the rest of them. They did video essays and yapped about random things, while the rest of them did gameplay content. It definitely didn’t matter that Zombie also streamed gameplay and had a second channel on their own with their brand of gameplay content. Definitely not.
Zombie realized they were staring off into space when they heard a Discord ping. It was from Sophist, which sent them smiling from ear to ear.
Sophist: hey baby we’re done recording
Still grinning, Zombie’s hands were put to work as they typed out their message.
Zombie: and you text me instead of talking with your friends? kinda cringe honestly
Sophist: im still in call with them, thank you very much
Zombie giggled. They swiveled their chair to face the other monitor; the video could wait for now.
Sophist: whatcha up to
Zombie: I was working on a video until you showed up
Sophist: don’t lie you were waiting for me to stop recording
This was true; Zombie barely got any work done as they anticipated their boyfriend’s return. But he didn’t need to know that. They weren’t willing to let him win that easily.
Zombie: and what if I was?
Sophist: well that would make you kinda cringe
Zombie’s mind raced to fill in the gaps of their conversation; if this were happening in real life instead of in a discord conversation, they imagined Sophist would be placing both of his hands on their waist while staring deep into their dark, cocoa-like eyes. They really did hate how far away they had to be; even if Sophist was just a car ride away, it was still a long distance relationship.
Zombie: don’t lie you love when I wait for you
Sophist: I do, still makes you cringe
Zombie: stfu
Sophist: you wanna join the call? The boys miss you
Zombie: we all know that you’re the one that misses me
Sophist: misses you more, they still wanna see you
Zombie: fine fine, give me a second
It wasn’t a surprise to anyone else that the Crashers liked Zombie. After all, if they didn’t, Sophist probably wouldn’t have been dating them; his friends meant that much to him. That didn’t stop Zombie from thinking that they only really hung out because they were dating Sophist. It was an anxiety thing, which Zombie had somewhat accepted and somewhat tolerated, knowing it would be a while before they ever could get therapy.
They joined the call in the group chat they were all in; everyone’s facecam fully on while Zombie still set up theirs. Everyone greeted Zombie as they came in, a flash of excitement washing over them, despite the fact that Zombie joined their calls often.
Nick was the first to greet them. “Hey, Zombie.” Vern and Brent were quick to follow.
“Hey, guys,” Zombie replied, still fiddling around with their camera.
“Can you believe this bozo was waiting for us to stop recording?” Sophist said with barely contained love.
“Oh shut up, Sophist,” Vern rolled his eyes. “We all know you like it when they wait for us.”
Zombie’s facecam finally booted up, their inky brown eyes staring directly into it. Meanwhile, Sophist’s pale face suddenly shifted to a rosy pink, noticeable even with the somewhat poor quality of his webcam.
“No,” he tried to deny, though his face betrayed him, revealing his true intentions. Zombie rolled their eyes at the sight.
“Anyway,” Zombie said, “what were you all recording today?”
“Just another Mario Party video,” Sophist sighed. “Wished you were there.”
“I told you I was gonna be busy! Besides, I can’t really join you on those games. What would I do, be another commentator?”
“We could have done Simon Says again,” Brent suggested. “We always need a 5th for that.”
“Yeah, but I feel like that’s been done to death at this point. You all have, like, three Simon Says videos on each of your channels.”
“We can always do more skribbl or gartic phone,” Nick pointed out.
“Can we not?” Vern whined. “I don’t know how to draw.”
“I don’t know how to draw either!” Sophist countered. “Doesn’t stop us from doing it.”
“Doesn’t Zombie always win those anyway?” Brent asked. “They’re the one that can actually draw.”
“Look, I appreciate you all trying to fit me in,” Zombie interrupted. “But it’s really fine! I don’t need to be in every video.”
“Yeah, but…” Sophist trailed off, never finishing his sentence.
Before Zombie could even ask, Vern yawned, which caused everyone else to yawn.
“It’s getting late. I’m gonna go to bed. Still got class tomorrow.”
“Imma head out as well,” Nick added. “Was fun, y’all.”
“Same. See you guys,” Brent continued, disconnecting first. The other two disconnected shortly after, leaving Sophist and Zombie in the call. Sophist smiled, staring at his partner with all the awe in the world. They stared at each other for a while before they both broke into a laughing fit.
“What?” Zombie finally asked.
“Just staring at my beautiful wife,” Sophist replied.
Zombie rolled their eyes again, fond of the familiar vocal stim. Sophist got it from Zombie, who got it from Vernias. Eventually, it became a whole group stim, as Nick and Brent originally used it to mock all three of them before it was naturally folded into their vocabularies.
“Why don’t you wanna be in more videos with us?” he whined.
They groaned. “Sophist, I told you! There’s not always enough room for me to join. And I’d really rather not replace one of you just for a video.”
“You wouldn’t be replacing us, you’d just be…” Sophist thought about it for a second. “Okay, maybe you’d have to replace one of us. But we could play more games that can do up to 5 players.”
They scoffed. “Like there’s a whole lot of those.”
“We can find some, I’m sure of it.”
“I also don’t even know if people would like to see that much of me, to be honest.”
“What do you mean? People always like seeing you. The videos with you in it always have the most positive comments!”
“You read those?”
“Well, only some of them, but still. The masses love you, honey.”
“Well, I’m not talking about the masses here, babe.” Zombie shrunk in their chair, embarrassed to admit what they were really scared of.
“What do you mean?” he asked, head tilting in curiosity.
Zombie remained silent, instead using their eyes to communicate. When words failed them, they often resorted to nonverbal cues. This time, their eyes were darting to the group chat, though Sophist couldn’t exactly see that through the screen. Zombie sighed, knowing that they would actually have to say something.
“I’m talking about the boys.”
“Oh. Why? We always talk about how much we want to hang out with you and have you around in videos.”
“Yeah, well, I don’t know if that’s because they actually like me or if it’ just because I’m dating you.”
Sophist scoffed, clearly offended. “What? Of course they like you. What makes you think that they don’t?”
“I don’t know. I don’t really feel like a part of the group. I’m just here because I’m dating you.”
“Babe, that’s not true and you know it. We constantly ask you to join us for videos. We always want you to be in calls with us. You know I always enjoy your company, and they’re very clear that they enjoy your company as well.”
“Yeah, but I don't really see it,” Zombie frowned.
“What do you mean?” Sophist asked softly. “Do you want me to ask them to literally say that you’re a part of the group?”
“I don’t know, maybe not like that, exactly, but something a bit more clear?”
Sophist sighed, quickly typing something in and sending a message to the group chat. Almost immediately, they received affirmations from the other three. Not simply stating, “Yes”, but enthusiastically yelling at Zombie that they were indeed, part of the Party Crashers. Not just the Party Crashers, but the friend group as a whole.
“Look, see? The masses love you.”
Zombie gave a small smile. “Okay.”
“Now, can you stop whining about this and just join us in more videos, please?”
“Okay, fine. What’s your next video?”
Sophist adopted a wicked grin. “Marvel Rivals.”
Zombie rolled their eyes, considering Marvel Rivals was one of their biggest hyperfixations at the time. “Okay, well, I didn’t need convincing to join that game.”
“Atta girl,” Sophist said fondly, still staring at his partner with all the love in the world.

The MySims ports arrived today! (And by today I mean "this evening" because EA is like the only company who doesn't release their games at midnight) I haven't tried Kingdom yet, but here are some first day thoughts for MySims. I played up to star rank 3.
This seems to be the most common complaint and it's definitely the most noticeable things about these ports: the controls are really weird. I got used to them pretty quickly but there are still moments where I find I have to wrestle with the controls a bit. Not game ruining IMO and I understand the Wii control scheme can sometimes be hard to translate to other consoles but I still think they could have done a better job. Apparently Kingdom controls are worse so I'm curious to check it out later.
I noticed some visual glitches, specifically the lighting will sometimes get weird if you're building something more complex. I've also seem reports of audio bugs from other people. Again nothing game ruining but I wish this was more polished.
Otherwise the game looks nice. It's pretty much the original game but with sharper textures. Also I think there are more hair and clothes? I don't remember all CAS parts from the original from memory but some stuff didn't look familiar to me.
For those wondering how the garden works: there's no multiplayer and all the new PC essences are available to everyone, no trading involved. The annoying thing is that this means the garden fishing and digging spots have HUGE pools of droppable essences and it takes forever to grind for copies of them. No multiplayer also means this is now just a huge empty area with nothing to do. You can build some houses here but you can't move anyone into them or anything like that, you still have to deal with the very limited amount of lots from the original game.
This probably isn't too impressive for those who played on PC but for someone who used to play the Wii original these loading screens are a dream. Going from the very long loading screens of the Wii to only one second AND the game autosaves during that is amazing. Hooray for technology.
So overall are they worth it? For me personally, I don't regret buying the bundle. They're games I really enjoy and I don't have a convenient way to play the Wii originals, plus even if I did this is probably the best version of the original MySims.
If you never played the series and are considering getting it? Ehhh maybe look up some gameplay of the original MySims because I suspect it's a game a lot of people wouldn't like; it's very repetitive. MySims Kingdom is very hard to define genre wise (it's an... adventure game? I guess?) but it's overall a very enjoyable experience that I would recommend to most people (assuming they didn't screw up the port somehow lol). At the end of the day these are pretty much straight ports of two 2007-2008 Wii games. You'll have consider whether that's worth 40$ to you.
